I really wish A03 allowed for kudos per chapter, because if you have a multi-chapter fic, and say you have about 12 readers who return to read each new chapter, the ratio between hits, and kudos can get real out of wack.
This is where I prefer Wattpad’s system although it is also flawed because it requires an account to vote and comment while A03 you can leave kudos and comments as a guest.

#look ok#i see all the cute little fics with xl and hc talking about becoming parents and etc etc#and that's cute! that's adorable!! let them be happy!!!#but. you have to admit ok. hualian need to work through their own problems#like c'mon. xl picks up like AT LEAST three kids in the book and then proceeds to forget about one on his shelf for a while#just kinda. stands judgmentally with his hands on his hips about guzi and qi rong (it's really funny though don't get me wrong)#and after finally re-capturing lang ying he's like 'i'm gonna guardian you!' and then a whole bunch of shit happens and uh well#ly turns out to be the ghost of some kid xl traumatized 800 years ago come back for vengeance (L)#which means xl traumatized him multiple times lmao#we aren't even touching qi rong and lang qianqiu which YES i know the latter wasn't xl's fault and i am fully aware that the situation with#qi rong is and was complicated. BUT. come ON man can these poor kids never catch a break? the one kid he DIDN'T accidentally traumatize#turned out to be obsessively in love with him so like maybe this is for the best?#anyway i also just don't think they'd be... genuinely interested in a commitment like that? like hc would go along with anything xl wants#but he doesn't seem the type to be interested in kids (he's mostly just interested in xl)#xl isn't off the hook either ok#people bring up hc's treatment of e'ming but xl isn't exactly a saint to ruoye. i dont blame the guy he's got a lot on his mind#but he's also very.... absent#plus with the responsibilities of their respective positions all their extra time is like. spent on eachother jk?#this isn't to say xl doesn't *like* kids or anything i just don't think he would want to be a full-time parent lmao#also they DEFINITELY have their own issues with themselves as kids and i'm afraid that might translate into like. parenting#meme#tgcf#mxtx meme#tgcf meme#xie lian#hua cheng#lan wangji#wei wuxian#wei ying#lan zhan

If it wasn’t for the environment and terrible traffic in the city, you probably wouldn’t choose to use public transport, especially on days like these. Because of an issue with another train, yours was running late and a lot more people entered than usual. At least you were lucky enough to have gotten one of the last seats available.
As the crowd moved with even more people entering, you noticed a tall man in a suit finding his spot right beside your seat, his hand grabbing the pole above you. You turned your head to look at the reflection in the window and realized that he was doing the same, your eyes meeting his for a brief moment before he looked away.
You decided to keep your sight fixated on the seat in front of you to avoid staring at the handsome stranger standing beside you. When the train halted at the next stop, there was a lot more movement than before with a bunch of people trying to make their way to the doors. You turned your head and witnessed someone pushing the man beside you over to make their way through the crowd.
In a matter of seconds the stranger lost his balance and fell right into your lap.
Before either of you realized what was happening, the now empty space beside you was filled by someone else, making it impossible for him to quickly get up again.
“Sorry, I’m sorry!!” He mumbled as he attempted to escape the forced proximity only to tumble down once more as the train began moving again.
Your thighs cushioned his fall and you couldn’t hold back your giggles any longer.
“Well, hello there!” You laughed when your eyes met his.
“I am so sorry!” He squeaked as he tried to get up once more. There was just not enough space which led to him awkwardly hovering over you for a moment.
“That looks uncomfortable,” you commented on his weird position. “I bet my lap was better than that.”
“Yeah,” he muttered, only to apologize a second later. “Sorry, this is– I’m just–”
“It’s okay, I know you’re not trying to be a creep,” you reassured him as he shifted his body to get into an almost upright position.
Before the stranger had a chance to grab the pole for balance though, someone leaned against him, causing him to tumble forward. This time he was fast enough to catch his own fall with his palms against the window beside you, only to bring his hips dangerously close to your face for a moment.
“Usually guys buy me dinner first,” you laughed to downplay the awkwardness.
“Oh god, ah!” He almost yelled as he wanted to escape the compromising position he was in. “I swear, I’m not doing that on purpose!”
When he tried and failed again to stand up straight, you began to pity the poor man and decided to offer him a seat, at last. With one swift motion you grabbed his arm and pulled him down until he was seated in your lap once more.
“I think you should just accept your fate,” you snickered when you noticed his shocked expression. “What’s your name, stranger?”
His face had taken on a crimson shade and it was obvious that he had trouble grasping what was happening. He found your eyes for a moment, only to quickly avert his sight again.
“Sorry,” he mumbled. “I’m really sorry.”
“What a weird name.”
“No, no, that’s not my– I’m just.. sorry.” He took a deep breath before finally answering your question. “Spencer. My name is Spencer.”
“So, Spencer, do you have any plans for tonight? You know, except for sitting in a woman’s lap on the train.”
“I didn’t plan that, you know,” he stated with the slightest smile visible on his face.
“So it was just the force of attraction?” You joked, well aware of the ambiguity of your words.
Spencer’s eyes roamed over your face for a moment, almost as if he hadn’t had the chance to really look at you until now.
“Yeah,” he agreed. “You could call it that.”
A few moments passed of the two of you just smiling at one another. You noticed the warmth his golden irises radiated, making you feel like nothing could harm you as long as you had him close to you.
When the next train stop was announced, you cooed, “So, about that dinner you owe me…”
Spencer (successfully) got up from your lap, took your hand and suggested, “How about right now?”
The both of you were already moving towards the door when you laughed, “Lead the way, stranger!”

The Gaang being 'bad parents' didn't ruin their characters.
I've seen this argument tossed around a couple times and it's honestly one of my least favourite criticisms of lok.
Katara (and Sokka but we have no confirmed kids for him, which seems unrealistic with how much game he had) lost their mother as children and their father was forced to abandon them when they were barely starting their teens. They were raised by their grandmother with little to no peers of their own age.
Aang did not know his parents and a huge chunk of his childhood was him being groomed into taking up the mantle of the avatar and mastering airbending. He also was isolated from other kids his age. His closest parental figure was Gyatso who was more of a teacher than a father. Also the Air Nomads were literally wiped out so that adds to the trauma pile.
I really don't think i have to talk about Zuko's family life here, but at least he had relatively positive parental figures in the form of Ursa (though i do have a burning personal dislike of ursa) and Iroh. Despite this his struggle around the subject of his family and his trauma relating to his upbringing was a focal point of his character arc.
Toph was raised in isolation by her asshole abelist parents who did not listen to her, sent people to capture and bring her back and then disowned her. (If my cursory understanding of 'the rift' is correct, I need to actually read it because i am unreasonably obsessed with the Beifong family.)
Where, pray tell, were they supposed to learn proper parenting skills? On their brief stint as child soldiers? While fighting a war as literal children?
There is the argument that they must've matured later in their lives, of course. But you can only recover so much from copious amounts of childhood trauma.
Being a bad parent doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Sure it makes you a failure in an incredibly delicate and important aspect of human life but it doesn't make you a bad person. And saying that it does takes a lot of nuance out of the conversation.
Like, do you know how easy it is to fuck up a child?
Especially that the ways the members of the Gaang 'fucked up' as parents feel mostly in character.
Bumi was going to face some struggles with self worth due to being the firstborn child of the Avatar and arguably one of the most powerful waterbenders in history, while being a nonbender himself. That much was unavoidable, no matter how his parents approached the issue.
And Aang was obviously going to be over the moon when Tenzin was born. Think about it. He's literally the last of his people. He has no one else 'like him'. No one else to pass down the traditions, the teachings that Gyatso and everyone else he cared about and who were horrifically murdered to. Aang is getting older and he feels like his culture and history and his entire life before he got trapped in that damned iceberg will die along with him. And then Tenzin is born and Tenzin can take up the mantle that had been thrust upon Aang.
I'm going to withhold my judgement on Izumi and Zuko, since we barely know anything about them. She seems well adjusted but that's all i can say right now. But Zuko has also been shown to be extremely, painfully aware of how fucked up his family is and has clearly been putting in a lot of work to unscrew what his ancestors have screwed up.
Toph situation feels very tragic to me,because it's obvious that she thought she thought she was doing better than her parents. She gave her daughters the freedom to do what they want, to not feel opressed and trapped like she had. How was she supposed to know that she was making her girls feel like she didn't love them? (Here's another post of mine about the Beifong family and how they just feel like they're cursed or something at this point.)
TLDR; I get annoyed by people saying that the Gaang being 'bad parents' ruined their characters, because to me it felt like it actually enhanced them.
Neither Aang nor Toph acted out of malice or a lack of love. On the contrary, Toph was trying not to repeat her parents mistakes, accidentally committing a bunch of her own. While Aang probably didn't even realise that he was neglecting Kya and Bumi.
But just loving your children doesn't always make you a good parent.
I think these flaws only add to them as characters. It makes them feel more real.
It's unrealistic and, frankly, just plain boring to go 'oh the Gaang were all good people so they would be good parents too.'
The Gaang were a gaggle of traumatised children forced into saving the world, because the adults around them failed them, that then grew into traumatised adults who have no idea how to be good parents.

The Path to Healing
Miguel O’Hara x Reader
Plot: Miguel gets accidentally sent to another dimension, one without super powered beings. There, he meets a familiar face - one that could help him to heal and find the strength to finally move forward.
Genre: PG-13 (comfort fic)
A/N: I really had a great trip in Korea, so here’s to another self-indulgent fic! Also this fits really well with the multiverse concept heh. Reblogs and comments appreciated!💜
Italics - Internal Monologue/Past Memories
Tumblr media
He blinks once, then twice.
Miguel O’Hara finds himself staring into the endless blue skies.
Just where the heck am I?
He slowly eases himself up, fingers flying at his communicator in hopes of reaching Lyla.
“Damn it! For once I actually need her and this stupid thing doesn’t work.” He’s about to rip the device from his wrist but last minute logic creeps in.
When I get back, I’m going to kill all of them. Forget the spider society, I can do this on my own.
Miguel kicks the snow at the thought of the Go Home machine malfunctioning right when he entered.
This is why you should have never put Peter in charge. This is why you should have never let Miles in. This is why-
Miguel is too busy in his internal self-monologue that he crashes into someone.
“Ouch!”
Recovering from the sudden accident, Miguel extends a hand for the stranger. He’s about to apologize for the lack of awareness in his surroundings when he finally gets a clear view of the stranger under the yellow beanie.
“Thank you. I’m so sorry about that.”
Miguel could have walked away with his usual grunt and continue to figure out where the heck Peter and Miles had sent him to. No, he should have walked away. But he couldn’t.
Because the stranger was an exact replica of her.
If this was someone’s idea of a joke, Miguel would have had that person torn to shreds. Hands balling into fists, he forces himself back to Earth.
The question was, which universe was this?
“No, it was my fault. I should have watched where I was going.” Miguel sees your easygoing smile and his feet are rooted to the ground.
It wouldn’t hurt to ask. After all, despite Miguel being clad in spandex, you didn’t run the other direction when you had the chance.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t really know where I am? I was hoping to ask someone.” Miguel starts slowly.
“Figures.” You respond cheerfully. “You’re in Hongdae.” You see the poor man attempting to digest what you just told him so you try again.
“Hongdae. Seoul. The place that never sleeps?” There was still no visible reaction from the man and you were starting to get worried. “You’re in Seoul, South Korea. Hey, are you sure you’re okay? I know there’s a hospital nearby.”
That seemed to have done the trick as Miguel shakes his head. “I’m fine. But could you excuse me for a minute?”
You nod as he ducks into one of the many alleyways. You suddenly remember your mother’s words about running for safety but you push it out of your mind for now.
Looking around, you see a pushcart and make your way to it.
***
“Lyla! Where the hell have you been?” Miguel almost yells.
“Sorry, boss. Margo only managed to get the systems up and running. We’re working on bringing you back asap.”
“Tell me you know where the hell that idiot and the kid sent me.” His voice was almost pleading.
“Earth 1218. If you’re worried about any anomalies there, you can save them for another day.” Lyla tells him as she works away. “That universe is devoid of any super powered beings.” She looks at him through her pink frames. “But they have many problems of their own.”
Miguel was almost curious as to what these problems were but that was not the issue. He peeks out from the alley he was hiding behind, actually relieved to see that you were still there. Miguel holds his communicator towards your direction, zooming into your face.
“Can you do a scan?”
“Is that a challenge?” Lyla clicks away and within seconds she’s able to confirm your identity.
“Well… she’s not from here. Korea, I mean. But she’s here for six months and is apparently here on her first solo trip.”
So, you were doing well. You weren’t constantly looking over your back, worried about superhuman threats because of him. As much as Miguel hoped to see some form of recognition on your face, it was better that things stayed this way. It only confirmed his suspicions.
You were safe without him.
“Tell me when you fixed the machine. I got to go.” Miguel switches off his communicator, walking back to you.
“There you are! I was worried you ran off in this cold!” You grin. “I got a couple of things for you.” You hold up a shopping bag and a cup with what looks like a pancake to Miguel.
“This is Hotteok. Or a honey pancake.” You thrust the warm cup into his hands. “It’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my entire life.” You happily bit into it, oblivious of Miguel’s stare.
You were just like her.
“Miguel! Have you tried this paella? Oh it’s so good!”
The memory punches him in the gut and Miguel has to sit down. He decides that the best way was to distract himself with the delicacy in front of him and almost burns his lips while doing so.
“Careful!” You whip out a wet wipe, gently pressing it onto his lips. “You don’t want to walk around with a sore lip do you?”
Finishing up the last bit of food, you give him the shopping bag. “An extra set of clothes because no matter how good you are with the cold, I don’t think walking around like you just came out of comic con would do the both of us any good.”
Miguel slips on the grey hoodie and black track pants, grateful that the muted colors had blended him together with the bustling crowd.
“Now, that’s all settled. Maybe you want to tell me what you’re really doing here?” You patiently wait for his response as Miguel’s mind races at the speed of light.
What does she mean? Did she find out? But how?
“I mean, I kind of heard a loud crash and minutes later I come crashing into you and forgive me… but you look like someone was chasing after you.”
Miguel wants to scream. How is he going to get out of this without repeating the same mistake and not looking like a complete psycho?
“You’re safe. You can tell me anything.”
I know I am. But the last time I told you, you got killed by The Green Goblin.
How could he deny your request? Not when you were waiting patiently for him to speak. Miguel feels like a cornered animal, with no way out.
Maybe, if you were just a little more honest with her.
He takes a deep breath, hoping that he would not regret this.
***
“You’re from another dimension?”
“Yes.”
“And you were accidentally sent here.”
“Yes.” Miguel hesitates to continue further, looking at you apprehensively. “I know you think I must be some madman but let me show you something.” He presses a few commands on his communicator, knowing that this was the only way for you to believe him.
A hologram pops up and Miguel can feel a part of his battered heart shattering once more. A picture of him and a woman who could be your twin appears. The carefree laughter that she was emitting after having her strawberry ice cream stolen from a playful Miguel was a thing of the past.
“She’s you but from my dimension. We were together but…” Miguel trails off, unsure of how to complete the sentence.
“But what?” You prodded gently, sensing that there was more to the man in front of you. “It’s okay. I don’t think you’re crazy. In fact, there are plenty of crazy people in my world- more like idiotic.” You snort.
Miguel grips his thigh. “She died because she got too close to me. My enemies knew and they used it as leverage.”
What am I doing? Spilling my guts to a stranger just because she looks like her?
But there was no turning back for Miguel. Perhaps, there was a reason why he was sent here. Maybe, he had to right his wrongs.
You suddenly rummage through your bag and Miguel is positive that you’re about to call the cops on him. Instead, you take out your phone. “There’s something I want to show you.” You pass him the phone and Miguel finds himself staring at…
Himself.
“That’s why I believed you.” Your soft voice breaks his train of thoughts. “He used to be a researcher studying astrophysics and quantum physics.” You explained. “He always told me of the possibilities of another dimension. I thought it was a little whack to be honest but after everything that has happened, it doesn’t hurt to believe.” You smile sadly and this time Miguel can’t help but to be curious.
“Was? What happened?”
“He died. Gunshot wound.”
Miguel blinks, the news taking him aback. So he was dead in this world.
“I used to work as a police officer. We used to meet each other every Friday after work. But one day, he didn’t show up as per our agreed timing and I knew something was up.” You breathed heavily. “A crime boss that I was working so hard to catch caught up to me. He took the one thing that I loved the most.”
“I’m- I’m sorry I asked.”
“No. I needed this. I should be sorry. Spilling my guts out to a stranger all because he looks like my boyfriend.”
Miguel can’t help but to laugh at how his internal thoughts were just vocalized and you burst out into laughter as well.
“The point is,” you recover from your high. “I don’t think she would have blamed you. She would have been proud. Of all the people that you’ve managed to save.”
That’s all I’ve been doing. Saving worlds one after another to fill the void in my heart.
“She wouldn’t want you to blame yourself. You did all you could. She would have wanted you to live on.”
“And you?”
You stare up into the skies. “That’s what he would have wanted me to do. That’s what I’m doing now. This is why I came to Korea. I want to remember him in the best way possible. Only positive memories.”
Miguel pauses. He had never thought of it that way. All this while, he was burying himself in his grief, praying that one day it would bury him alive.
Positive… your positive energy was boundless even across dimensions. No one could put it out. Not even Miguel himself who attempted to ignore it in hopes of numbing his pain. The only thing that did was to leave a gaping hole.
“It’s too painful.” He gasps, as if coming to the surface from being nearly drowned by the relentless waves.
“It always is at first.” You hold his curled fist, as if silently telling him to release. “But you need to give yourself a chance. Let the people around you in.”
At this moment, a burst of light could be seen from the alley that Miguel was at earlier. The two of you look at each other before making way to the source. That could only mean one thing.
“Boss!” A young girl steps out with her comrade donning golden bangles at his wrists. “We’re ready to take you home.”
It was as if the appearance of the two members had bought Miguel’s usual personality back. “Where’s Peter and Morales?”
“Oh, they were too scared to come.” The boy chirps at this Peter and Morales misfortune. “But I think they actually did some good by sending you here boss!” He takes a glance at your amused expression at the scene in front of you.
Pavitr, so straightforward and always so accurate. Miguel controls his urge to tell him to shut up. Though, strangely the boy had a point. If it wasn’t for the antics of Peter and Miles, he wouldn’t have met you.
He wouldn’t have come to terms with the raw wound in his heart. He wouldn’t have the closure that he needed and would have just continued running away until exhaustion caught up with him.
“Wait!”
Miguel turns back to see you scribbling something on a piece of paper before giving it to him.
“I don’t know how you guys work over there but if it’s possible to travel here by accident, I’m sure you can come and see me again. This is my address in Korea and my number.”
Miguel wants to tell you that it is impossible, that the two of you should never meet.
Just give it a chance.
The voice in his head was loud and clear. There was no room for discussion.
“Thank you. For today.” He holds the piece of paper tight like a lifeline, preparing to step into the portal.
“I’ll see you soon.” You waved goodbye.
The portal closes behind Miguel, and the three of them are back at headquarters.
“So boss…” Pavitr begins.
“Not a word. Find Peter and Morales.”
***
Afterword
You step out from the apartment, taking in the fresh air. It’s been three months since you met Miguel. The cherry blossoms told you that much.
Walking along the Han River, you can’t help but to feel a little lonely amongst the crowd who were with their loved ones.
No, he was with you in spirit.
Grabbing a iced tea, you snap a photo with your camera, planning to develop the picture for your photo book.
As you continued on your journey, you were too engrossed with the beauty of the pink petals that you bump into another person admiring the scenery of the Han River.
“Sorry!” You apologized with the minimal Korean that you picked up from your time here.
“If you’re really sorry, maybe you could spend some time with me?” The man responds in perfect English.
You’re about to tell the potential creep off when he turns around, causing a huge smile to form on your face.
“Miguel! You came.”

a call to action for everyone who is passionate about palestine:
i have no idea who this message is going to reach, but for the little time i am on this platform, i will amplify the importance of partaking in raising awareness for the palestinian cause.
since i haven't been on here for a long time, i was honestly shocked to return to a ton of informative posts, reblogged in high numbers by my mutuals, on what is happening in palestine.
this current movement on social media, the fact that people across generations are, slowly but surely, waking up to the 76 years of torment, land theft, occupation and genocide the palestinian people are subjected to, has never happened before.
it was about damn time.
everyone, let it be a die heart zionist, a willingly ignorant person or the "people" that are in charge and have all the buttons below their fingertips that could get them to put an end to all of this-
they are never ever going to stop at making you feel insignificant. they are going to downplay your efforts as an activist. they are going to make you question your integrity. they are going to bring up seemingly unrelated issues, in a deplorable effort to make you feel like the "load" that we, as activists and people that are trying to raise awareness about palestine, carry is too much of a burden, to keep going.
they'll tell you things like:
"what is my contribution going to change? we're all doomed to die anyways with how things are going"
"what could a singular dollar/ euro, that i spend, possibly do to support israel? i don't wanna miss out on (xyz item)"
"well if you're so adamant about saving the world, then why don't you go to gaza yourself?"
"yeah right, if that's the case then i would have to also care about (xyz historically oppressed group of people) and i would have to do this, this and that to raise awareness on (xyz historically oppressed group)"
never ever let these individuals in. never ever let them see you doubting your own self or your efforts as an activist.
when i tell you that standing on business has never been more crucial, you can take my word for it.
as someone who, due to the communities i belong to, has practically grown up defending this cause, i can tell you that the tides have not once started to turn the slightest bit in favor for the palestinian cause in the publics perception. most especially in the west.
now is the time to get up on our feet and make room for palestinian voices, not the seeds of doubt planted by zionists.
anyone that still genuinely believes that one, they can't do anything to bring about any change
two, believes there is any legitimacy in the existence of an "israeli state",
or three, denounces and dares to critique the forms of resistance coming from the oppressed palestinians, after five whole months of the ongoing israeli operation to annihilate them to move closer to the achievement of the "greater israel" project, is immediately disqualified in any discussions on the palestinian fight for freedom.
don't ever give your time to zionist apologists or people that try to infiltrate the pro watermelon movement, in order to gain an outlet, in which they can voice their sympathy for core ideas of the zionist movement (a right to israels existence, pseudo self defense argument, pseudo the people are not the state argument, pseudo not all israelis are settlers argument) without further notice.
now is the time of focus. partake in all the activities you can. do your part. do what is achievable.
palestinians, whether it be in the diaspora or on the ground in gaza and the west bank, don't have time for our inconsistencies.
try to control your spending habits as much as you can, try to control the pop culture (tv, music, film) you consume as much as you can. that is the very least we can do.
also, a teeny tiny, but crucial note, we all need to internalize is the fact that we need to decenter ourselves from the end goal, which is the liberation of palestine and land back to the palestinian people.
the people that are going to free palestine aren't us.
palestinians are going to free palestine. the palestinian resistance is going to free palestine.
our obligation is to facilitate that to happen. we partake in the bds boycott, put pressure on representatives of our countries and take to the streets and social media to make the voices of palestine heard.
looking inward and coming to that realization is utmost important for us as non palestinians to know our place in the bigger picture, so we can move on, organize and operate from there.
by no means am i a representative of this cause. but i am human. so i hope that you could all take something from my message.
from the river to the see, palestine will be free!!!

About the dancing chapter...
Tumblr media
I agree 100% with this comment by the amazing @deathbealady (no seriously, I didn't even realise how similar this situation was to Mor's) and I wanted to use it as a jumping off point to talk about Eris Vansera. To be clear though, I like fanon Eris and am currently undecided about canon Eris, for reasons I'll explain later.
For now, we can start with the IC asking Nesta to try and seduce Eris. I refuse to believe they weren't given this idea by Elain, either because she volunteered Nesta outright, or because she put the idea of using Nesta's artistic passions that, at this point, they know were effectively weaponised by her mother, to seduce an older male with the idea of marriage.
Either way, the fact that the IC knew what Nesta's mother had done, and decided to take advantage of it without ever asking what she thought of it, or what she might like, despite it being the same thing done to Mor when she was Nesta's age, if not younger. It's made especially worse given that Nesta likely feels unable say 'no' to the IC, because if she does, she'd likely be threatened with Elain being made to do it.
If that isn't bad enough, and I wouldn't be sure if it could get worse if I wasn't about to tell you why, then we can take a look at the age gap between Eris and Nesta. I've heard people argue that it's fine, since they're both consenting adults, but I think that the term 'adults' needs to be redefined. Humans are considered adults at the age of 18 or so, but only have a fully developed frontal love at 25. Meanwhile, fae are considered adults by the age of about 50 to 80 (with the latter being the age that a High Lord can be named such, but some people say it's 50). This has some pretty serious implications.
Starting with the fact that if females in Illyria and the CON are married off/wings clipped when they have their first period, which seems to be from around the same time human women have theirs, to 18 if they try to prevent it through medication, then they aren't adults themselves. They aren't even half way there in the (I don't want to say mild, best case, better or anything like that case because it's all messed up) cases where the woman is 18 or so. It also implies that a fae female's frontal lobe isn't developed until she's over fifty, since we don't have evidence to suggest the contrary.
Just because Nesta was almost 25 when she became fae doesn't make it alright either. Given that her aging must have slowed astronomically when she was turned, it's fair to assume it would have a huge impact on maturity and brain development. Which means the Archeron sister's in general might have serious gaps in the way their brains develop, especially Feyre, since she was resurrected and her body changed. It might even be slightly different for Nesta and Elain since they were killed, pulled apart and put back together in the cauldron.
Since it was the cauldron, there's a chance that their brains were also changed to be like fae, but either way, both possibilities and scenarios come back to the same answer: The Archeron Sisters are still mentally children, and will likely remain so for several decades longer, perhaps even longer than regular fae due to the unprecedented and irregular nature of their existence.
This brings me back to the subject of Nesta and Eris. He is a grown adult many centuries older than Nesta, with frontal lobe development and centuries of experience. Nesta is barely even half way to being an adult, while he is over 500. Moreover, the IC believe that Eris is a monster.
Now, I'm well aware that there's likely more to the issues between Eris and Mor than what we've seen. Between Eris's own words regarding 'circumstances' that he wouldn't explain, to the narrative going out of his way to show us good parts of him. Such as the way he moved to protect his mother at the HL meeting, and how he let his own father torture him but still protected the IC's secrets and took the unnecessary verbal abuse from Cassian. There's even the fact that Eris simply lets others believe him to be the villain, and let's Mor control the narrative for her own comfort, as opposed to spilling whatever happened, even if it would, somehow, absolve him.
Now, to be perfectly clear, there is little Eris could say that would absolve him, truly, of what happened. I acknowledge that he's a victim of his father, however that doesn't mean he can't also be Morrigan's abuser. And yes, even if he didn't touch her, neglect is abuse. Leaving her there for dead, regardless of the reasons, is a messed up thing to do. The categories of victim and abuser are not mutually exclusive.
The narrative wants us, as readers, to question Eri's actions and begin to wonder what happened between him and Lucien and Mor. It wants us to open up to the idea that Eris may not be as bad as he's made out to be, and that there's something more sinister happening, since it puts some level of suspicion on Lucien, Mor and Beron. However, just because that's the story we're being fed as readers, doesn't mean that the characters have the same perspective, or are living the same story, necessarily.
If you think about it, they have no reason to believe that Eris isn't a psycho who abuses woman and would slaughter his brothers to get to the crown. His comment about circumstances does read like an abuser trying to justify his actions with little effort, while giving no real reason, not that one would make up for what the IC believes he did. It's not a good enough reason to absolve him or make him seem like a good person.
He still hunted Feyre down, even though he had no reason to once she and Lucien made it to the Winter Court, and it, logically, would've caused more trouble for Beron if they were caught. Especially since a whole fire fight took place, and it would be easy for Kallias to connect that with autumn citizens, since he didn't know about Feyre's magic. If anything, hunting them at that point would've caused more problems and they'd be better off just telling Beron that Feyre and Lucien were there. A high lady, if Beron acknowledges the title or not, trespassing in foreign lands with a banished son would be enough to raise a fuss about.
He, also, has people who've known him for centuries, from Mor to Lucien (though the latter probably has more accurate info given his connections in various courts, and the fact it's unlikely Mor shared many words with him over 5 centuries) and the fact he's essentially blackmailing the Nc. This is more so an issue of his having certain pieces of information being a cause for the IC to fear what he may do with it, or what might be found out by their enemies if they use torture or a daemati.
I'm not saying, by any means, that I hate him. I think he's actually written better than Rhysand at this point, since unlike Rhysie playing hero, Eris knows he's a terrible person and low key owns it. Whether or not that's subject to change is dependant of SJM's writing in the future. There's a chance she may actually turn him into Rhys 2.0 by pretended he was a good guy all along.
However, regardless of his reasons, he has done so many atrocious things that the IC have no reason to think he's a descent person. Mor clearly hasn't said anything about what happened and, as much as I don't like her, she has no on page motive to antagonise Eris otherwise. That might change later, especially if she's the traitor, but as of now, her behaviour seems understandable, somewhat, based on the version of events that she gives.
Yet, despite all of this, the IC still think that essentially whoring Nesta out to Eris because it suits their goals. Regardless of the risks to Nesta's safety, regardless of how Nesta feels about the matter and and simply going off of Feyre's guesses about how Nesta feels without ever feeling the need to confirm if any of them are accurate to Nesta.
Let me summarise: Rhysand and Feyre, Nesta's own sister, thought it was a good idea to use Nesta's artistic passions to seduce a man that is literally 20 times Nesta's age, letting said man ask for Nesta's hand, and letting Nesta consider accepting despite the IC believing he is a woman torturing psycho that would throw her to the wolves at the first chance if it helped him in the end.
Let's not forget that while Eris may be bit of a grey area for us at the moment, the IC knows that Eris also lives with abusers, like Beron, who'd have no issue using physical violence against Nesta. So even if they thought Eris wasn't a monster for some reason, they'd still be putting Nesta in danger. Especially if Beron is working with the Death God, who wants the trove and is using Bryallin to find it.
Oh, and this was all after Cassian came to the conclusion that Nesta was suicidal, and was sexually assaulted in a vision, if I remember right, while on a life threatening mission in a place the rest of the IC, even Amren, is scared of.
Regardless of what Rhysand says, he allows abusers near enough to his family, or the ones he doesn't care as much about, I suppose, and is seemingly willing to let them marry said abusers if it gets him his goal. Rhysand who was abused. Rhysand who's mother was forced into child marriage.
Rhysand who seems to ignore the fact that the Archeron sisters are children. Children can't consent, if it wasn't clear enough to him already. Also, consent must be informed, and last I checked, Nesta wasn't informed about Eris beyond him being a snake. She isn't given a heads up about how abusive he's believed to be, how he may have to kill/watch you die if his dad decides so, or how he's likely to leave you bleeding out in the woods if you're injured. This is literally what the IC believe he is like and they didn't tell her.
Consent needs to be voluntary. I think it's been well established that Nesta likely doesn't feel like she can make real decisions because of consequences she may face.
He's also completely willing to send a suicidal (you can't argue that he doesn't know since Cassian reports everything to Rhysand, and kind of Feyre, apparently, from her Valkyries to her progress in 'healing'/being brainwashed so there's no reason he wouldn't report that too) into life threatening situations, put them in a place where they could jump to their deaths at any moment, with magic that could provide literally anything but alcohol, and filled with weapons.
To conclude, Eris is a grey area in ACOTAR that, at this point, reads as what Rhysand kind of should've been if SJM didn't make him a good guy for no reason. Meanwhile, this 'good guy' is endangering his sister in law through abuse, emotional blackmail and brainwashing, while putting her in proximity with a known abuser. Might I remind you that she's a minor? With possible developmental gaps. And he's doing it all because her being in danger makes his life easier, and the cousin that the dude abused is going along with this without any issue.

Couldn’t get this idea out of my head after being a political tv show binge. So we’ve got maxiel in a political au
For all the modernity and progress that the country claims one things remains true — the people don’t elect just a candidate, no they elect the entire family.
They don’t want some bachelor. It is not a sign of commitment to one’s career, but an indicator of a man that could think with his cock and have bastard children while at the highest level of public service. It is an indicator of a man that could bring ruin and shame to the most sacred position.
They want a family man. A man who is happily married with the perfect partner to bear his children. That is a sign of maturity and commitment. An indicator that he is settled.
And more so, it is an image that the people can project their own thoughts and beliefs onto. A family that can distract the public from the harsh realities of governing and politics.
It is not just politics and connections that get you elected, but also the perfect family that the people can fall in love with.
Max Verstappen fits all the qualifications for a great candidate — the perfect candidate even. Except for one tiny little thing in his opinion, but a major hurdle according to his campaign manager, Sebastian.
Max Verstappen is about as single as they come. With two cats he adores more than anything and no partner, Max does not apparently have the makings of a winning candidate.
“So just because I am not married, I cannot become president?” Max questions. His actual presidential run is still a few years away, but the framework needs to be laid out years ahead.
The presidency is all that Max has ever wanted. Every moment in his life is meant to culminate towards that. And now one tiny little detail about his life could prevent it.
“Essentially yes. Voters want someone they can love. A bachelor is not easy to love, but a family? Well that is very easy to love and root for,” Sebastian says. “But… should you not want to find a partner… on your own… there are avenues we can take,” he says, carefully picking his words.
“How?” his dad asks.
“We’re in the nation’s capital. There is no shortage of people well aware of and willing to commit to a political marriage that could be beneficial for both parties involved,” Sebastian replies, giving his dad a knowing look.
“Of course, and you have a short list?” his dad questions.
“There is a list and it is quite short,” Sebastian replies vaguely.
____
The list is two people.
A man and woman — both brunette, older, and carriers. His dad suggests the woman, he’d known her father years ago. Sebastian suggests the man.
“Daniel is… well loved in the wealthy circles in this part of the country. Personable with everyone, not just the wealthy.”
“Then we go with Daniel,” Max agrees. Sebastian hadn’t led him wrong so far in his career and he doubted that the man would ruin it all as they neared a presidential run.
Sebastian’s team makes their story. As it turns out, they have quite a few mutual friends. It’s easy to make up a story of one of them introducing them and a secret romance blooming away from Max’s political career and Daniel’s preferred social circles.
Just a week before their first public appearance as a couple, Max meets Daniel for the first time. And Daniel is… well he understands why Sebastian would suggest him.
Daniel is like something come out of Max’s deepest fantasies.
“The future president, huh?” Daniel questions.
“It’s going to be a big commitment,” Sebastian says.
“I’ll play the part, as long as my conditions are met,” Daniel tells them.
“Conditions?” Max inquires.
“We hyphenate names. This will be my legacy as much as it is yours. There are certain policy issues on which I would like a say, Seb knows. I will not become some political breeding machine. We have three kids maximum and they have to be at least 2-3 years apart. And when you make it to the presidency, I will not stand for any cheating/sex scandal. Keep it private if you must, but the moment it makes national news, I’ll be gone with any kids we have in tow and telling everyone how you wronged me,” Daniel answers.
They’re not the most unreasonable conditions, but Max does have his concerns about the second and fourth conditions. “I will ensure that those are followed,” Sebastian answers before Max can say anything.
“Perfect, now I have to go. The ambassador from Monaco is visiting,” Daniel tells them, getting up from the sofa he had been sitting on. “Seb, do come to dinner. I’m sure the ambassador would love to pick at your brain again, amongst other things,” he adds.
“Should we not practice being the loving couple for next week?” Max asks.
“Oh darling, there’s no need,” Daniel replies, giving him a sleazy grin as his eyes trail over Max. “I’ll be the adoring partner that everyone expects of a senator hoping to run for president. You’re easy on the eyes. Now toodles poodles, can’t keep Sharlie waiting at the airport lest he run off in some strangers car again,” Daniel is gone within seconds. Leaving Max alone with Sebastian and a hundred questions about his husband to be.

(Note that @angelsadvocate96 also included a screenshot of AL's post, which I am omitting here since we have two already.)
I did see this Insta story yesterday, and again...wow. Before I go any further, I want to be clear that my issue with this has nothing to do with it being "inappropriate" (depending on your definition, of course). I am by no means a prude, and it is not and should not be shocking that Michael and AL have had sex. We know this, and we have proof of this, so that is not a big thing. I do, however, think it is interesting that just a few days ago, we had Michael being David's "boyfriend" and now here's AL seemingly marking her territory again. So that makes me wonder what has suddenly changed.
Also, as angelsadvocate96 mentioned, this does indeed seem to be a Georgia-style brag...but it falls flat. It doesn't help that "sleep next to" is just a really weird turn of phrase, and could as easily mean AL and Michael's beds are next to each other (a la every 1950s TV sitcom) as it does that they're sleeping in the same bed. It also stops short of being overtly sexual (because she didn't say "sleep with"), and so ends up in that weird place of trying to be scandalous, yet also not. But when you have Georgia out here five years ago talking about how much she and David enjoy anal sex and possibly her pegging him, Anna's "innuendos" just seem completely tepid in comparison.
The other thing that stood out to me is the mention of Ian McKellen, the #lifegoals hashtag, and Anna seemingly bragging about the fact that one of the most important parts of her relationship with Michael is meeting celebrities. We knew this already from the Dolittle premiere and the now-infamous picture of her meeting Rami Malek, as well as the fact that she follows many of Michael's co-stars and other famous figures connected to him on social media, and has had a history of replying primarily to comments from those people, to the exclusion of most everyone else. But I'm genuinely confused as to why you would ever want to give that impression of your relationship, especially on a post that's supposed to be promoting a TV appearance of his.
Her post also made me wonder how aware Anna really is of Sir Ian or his work, as I wasn't sure I could see her being a big fan of his...until I realized she shared this post from her and Michael's PR person (@dobbscld). The OP mentioned Sir Ian specifically, and knowing that, it suddenly all made sense. But it also struck me that, rather than make a post or story of her own to promote Michael, AL shared a post from PR...and once again made a post about Michael into a post about herself. Just as we've seen before.
Honestly, I don't think I would even mind this post or similar posts AL has made that much if it felt like Michael was even remotely a part of it. But it's the very fact that he never talks about her or their relationship (and not in a "he's a private person" kind of way) that makes it so awkward. And here he was going on Graham Norton to promote his directorial debut--a project that is hugely important to him--and Anna just brings it down to the most base level, making it seem like she does not take Michael or his work seriously. And I can't think of anything more embarrassing than that.
So yes, that was my reaction to AL's Insta story yesterday. Again, this is just my perspective, and I'm glad to hear from folks in the comments on this post with their thoughts. Thanks for writing in! x

Eren Y. || Why we should have a baby…
Warning • mentions sex? Unexpected pregnancy,
Genres • crack, lil angst, fluff
Pairing • Eren Yeager x black fem! reader
Wc: 732
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ok boom here’s why we should have a baby” you exclaimed turning on your tv to show the PowerPoint you made. You extended your pointer pointing to the title screen with a wide grin on your lips.
“What is this y/n?” Eren asked looking unimpressed. For the past two weeks, you’ve had a severe case of baby fever. Everywhere you go know you can’t help but see a baby and then you proceed to bug Eren to put one in you.
“Since begging you won’t work I’ll show you the pros and cons of having a baby. And we’ll see which one outways the other” you smiled clicking the next button on the computer so he could see it on the TV.
“We’ll start with the pros” you smiled “as you know I’ve always said I wanted a kid and maybe even more than one. I love kids- well sometimes but they can be really great. Also, they’re adorable! With their chubby cheeks and cute little feet and noses and eeekk,” you squealed at the thought of having one of your own.
“Ahem” Eren coughed trying to bring your attention back to him. “This isn’t very convincing sweetie” you sighed clicking the next slide which had ‘Money’ typed in bold green letters.
Ok now I’m listening” he smirked sitting up from his man-spreading position, you just rolled your eyes. “Money is a big issue when having children but! We both come from pretty well-rounded family’s who would die to have a new baby to spoil, I mean the last baby my family had was me and I’m pushing 30!”
“Babe you’re 24” Eren deadpanned as he corrected you, “same thing” you shrugged waving him off.
“Anyways back to the point, they would spoil them rotten! And give us” you said pointing between you and him “everything we need to take care of them plus more, even your mom said she’s ready for us to have children.”
“Y/n my mom wanted you to have my baby the day she met you” you snorted. “She loved you before you spoke two words to her” he chuckled reminiscing on the time he brought you to meet his parents.
“Ok ok, next slide” you said pressing the next button which was tilted ‘A loving family ’ with a heart next to it. “As you know my mom and dad got divorced when I was young, I stayed with my mom but she was never around much due to work and when she was she was just pestering me about how much of a failure I am compared to her or my siblings” Eren’a face fell, he was well aware you didn’t have a good relationship with your mom which made him quite sad.
“My dad, on the other hand, he is great and I love him but he left and made a new family- what I’m trying to say is…maybe the only reason I want a baby is to build something I never had which was a loving close family. I want to make our baby feel the love I wish I received. I want to love them gently not neglect them and say it’s tough love.” Eren got up from the couch and walked over to you.
“Awe baby come here” he brought you in for a tight hug and kissed your head. He rocked you back and forth letting you cry silently in his arms.
“Are you trying to guilt trip me into giving you a baby?” He asked jokingly. You chuckled pulling away wiping your tears.
“No I would never do that!” you sniffled “I know I’ve been annoying the last few days I just didn’t know how to tell you I was ready to take the next step in our relationship.” He nodded wiping your cheeks.
“Alright let’s compromise” he took your hand guiding you to the couch “let’s say in the next 6 months if you still wanna have a baby we will, it’ll be an anniversary gift” he joked making you to laugh again.
“Alright deal” You said shaking his hand. You sat in his lap as he held you kissing your cheek and forehead repeatedly.
“Oh and by the way…I’m pregnant” you blurted out as you got up running to the bedroom.
“What- HUH?!”

i am currently catching up on neon void, and it is a delight to read. your descriptions of leo’s mind is mesmerizing and grabs the reader’s attention so well. it’s very diverse and unique compared to other interpretations and fics♥️
i’m curious to know what your thinking process was like while writing leo’s insanity and his own thought processes.
(spoilers for ch11) the scene that stuck out to me the most was when leo was about to infect donnie. it felt so vulnerable and raw ahh
anyways i just want to dig into your mind a little to know how it works.
keep up the great work, you are doing wonderful.
WAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH 😭😭😭 you are so sweet thank you!! 💙💗‼️and ohmigosh what a fun ask.
tbh i sat on this one for a while to think of how to dive into it-- beware of my (VERY) long ramblings below!
Tumblr media
this question really got me Thinkin' and i kinda popped off but!! If i may indulge myself, here's sort of a wild explanation of how i approach Leo's Insane Brain for this specific fic:
does it meet R.I.S.E???
R - Realistic? I - Interesting? S - Silly? E - Existential?
R - Realistic
"How the hell do i make this sound realistic" is often an obstacle i run into. but it's also the Secret Sauce. What really gives the thought process direction. Given Leo's current situation, he's battling between what he wants and what he needs to do. Which is often a very real problem real people have. Exaggerating it helps create a fun back-and-forth dialog that can make his thoughts seem muddled.
With Leo in this fic’s setup, there are about five main key factors i rely on with his decision making:
Happiness The root of Leo’s general personification. He’s the guy who beat Krang One. The one who escaped a place worse than Hell. After years of missing home so much he’s FINALLY home. He’s drunk on happiness. He was finally home. And that relief and joy is what makes him so jubilant and goofy.
Awareness of his goal Though Rise Leo is a very funny dude, he's still a Leonardo. Throughout the series, Leo is the voice of reason when things are getting out of hand or are potentially dangerous. Leo's had nothing but time to think. Wishing what he'd done different. Wishing he had been more serious. After five years obsessing over his mistake and missing his family, the moment he see's the opportunity to make sure this never happens again he'll latch onto it. And when the stakes are high, accentuating that tension can help with frantic impact of his thinking.
His desire to see his family This desire often clashes with point number 2. Writing his internal struggle between the two helps with the “overwhelmed thoughts” vibe. It’s hard for him to choose! And he doesn’t wanna have to choose! Playing out the conflict between his 'want' vs his 'need to do' helps me bring out his nervous thinking process.
He's self-reprimanding thoughts We all love an Angsty Leo. It was hinted in the show that he had some self-esteem issues, but who doesn't love ramping it up to 11 for a fic??? That, and he was trapped with Krang this whole time. After hearing he was nothing but trash for five years PLUS the guilt of nearly ending the world, the guy doesn't exactly see himself in a great light you know? This can help clash with point 1, again helping with that 'what he wants' vs 'what he needs to do' inner conflict.
Instinct to Survive / Feral Tendencies This one is super fun. I love feral AUs/tropes. With little to no socialization in the Prison Dimension, Leo's sanity started to slip, leaving his body's natural instincts to become more profound. Plus, with the Krang Parasite, I like to exaggerate how feral/dangerous he could be outside of 'turtle' instincts. (Seeing that parasite hosts in the movie were very violent). Sprinkling in feral moments is just a delicious thrill I love adding, and it makes the insanity factor skyrocket and it's so fun to write 🩵🩵🩵
I - Interesting
Is Leo's thought process interesting to read??? Honestly, I just gun for what I think is the most interesting; Leo's relationship with his brothers (especially Raph), and the cause and effects of his shenanigans.
Also, I liked to experiment with wonky texts to help emphasize key moments or words to grab attention. Mostly because it feels like a fun surprise to read them in my opinion. Though not necessary in writing, I thought using some funky fonts might entice and excite 💙
S- Silly
THE BIG ONE!!! EVERYONE'S FAVORITE!!! 🎉🎊🥳🎉 Something I really love love love about Rise's style is that it's silly It's unique! It's fun! I love that Leo and the others are goofy and have some slap-stick moments. And I wanted to keep that with Leo despite everything. Plus, I ADORE that in this iteration of TMNT, the characters are such showmen. They are DRAMATIC. They are SILLY. And that's something I wanna celebrate!! Plus, as much as I love angst, writing nothing but pure angst is exhausting. (And I'm sure reading pure angst isn't enjoyably to everyone.) Throwing in Silly moments is like a little moment of refreshment to me 🩵
I also like to believe that Leo kept his sense of humor out of sheer SPITE. The 'wipe that stupid grin off your face' line in the movie really stuck with me. I feel like Leo would smile through his fear and still be a clown just to spite Krang One.
E - Existential
At the end of the day, Leo is dealing with a VERY big issue. I felt like the Rise movie did an excellent job portraying the severity of an alien invasion for the setting Rise had. And the weight of the situation would be too great for one person. And this is often what I refer back to to make Leo snap. A relapse in clarity of mind. A moment for the panic and PTSD to come back in full force and make him rely on his instincts. Usually the feral instincts he became more attuned with while fleeing/fighting Krang One. It also goes hand-in-hand with his awareness of his goal (as mentioned in 'Realistic' above).
And that's kinda a word-vomit of how it goes!! Honestly??? The tug-o-war between conflicting thoughts helps me write the madness in his head. It's been super fun and interesting, and I hope it's been fun to read!!! (Though I'm telling you now I will NOT be doing those floating text tables again OOF)
Thank you again for the ask it was super fun to think about ;w; 🩵‼️

the thing is that like. queer rights shouldnt even be the hot topic that they are in any of these discussions, because they are rarely ever relevant in the context they are brought up in. as far as social issues go we all live in glass houses no matter which culture we're from. not a single one of our societies, that any of us live in, has solved the issue of homophobia, or sexism, or any discrimination. none. none of us get to tell the other 'your society is worse than mine' and have that be anything but condescending posturing. absolutely none.
and no, there is not a single person who deserves death or is culpable for the crimes of their society just by virtue of being born in it. i should hope that goes without saying but the past month and a half have proven otherwise. every single innocent person deserves to be free of the horrible cycle of violence we're caught in. no state crimes, no amount of human rights violations, make the death of unrelated innocents justifiable, in any context, and i mean in any context.
but do you know why this gets brought up. because of you fucking westerners who keep projecting this idea that israel embodies every single colonialist evil you can think of, but it's the colonialist evils of your countries and your societies that you have guilt about, that you are familiar with personally. and you project every single social cause that you personally are invested in onto the palestinian cause instead of listening to them, instead of actually trying to understand what work is required to actually help them and what they actually need, because you project this idea of the socialist queer liberators that you want to be onto every single movement that is remotely anti-western or anti-american. and it's honestly really embarrassing but also shows your ignorance about those societies.
and i frankly think that bringing up homophobia in either gaza or the west bank (for purposes that aren't raising awareness, which, it usually isn't) as a gotcha is both extremely tasteless and totally irrelevant most of the time and just serves to delay the conversation and also, again, is not a judgement any of us from the outside get to make, and doesn't make their deaths any less tragic or any more deserved. and i would say the same about the homophobia in israeli society that i am well familiar with, as a queer person who lives here and is stuck in the more conservative parts of the country. but it gets brought up as a counter to the false narrative coming from westerners and constantly spread around- this narrative that this is a fight between one society that's a perfect haven of queer liberation and one society that is nothing but homophobic evils, and that the society that's full of homophobic evils has no innocents in it. because it is not true. not for any of us.
we are not a cartoon bad kingdom and a cartoon good kingdom. we are two equally complex, versatile societies with their own complex histories and things to work through, and your dichotomic thinking simply cannot seem to process this idea. that's why the arguments on queer rights in either of these countries get drawn in. to point out what what you are presenting simply is not factually true and is a simplification of a much more complex reality, which is kind of the pattern in this discourse in general.
i just don't think it's an argument worth having because it's besides the point in the first place, and the point is that none of us deserve violence, none of us deserve to die, and none of us are culpable for the governments playing power games between each other at our expense.

I’m in need of some advice and kind words. As a fellow writer I’m really struggling to believe people will and want to read my stuff. There’s no real engagement anymore and I’m worried that if I post my long-form fic that no one will give it a chance. It’s really bringing me down because I love it so much but it feels like no matter what I try to do my stuff just doesn’t get seen or liked? I’ve even thought about changing my entire way of how I do things since I don’t think the way I write is working for the masses. How do you keep up the motivation as a popular writer and do you have an advice?
Hello anon!! I feel like this is something many of us currently deal with. And first of all I seriously hope that you do share your story!! ♡
To be completely honest with you the lack of engagement in the fandom has for sure impacted my own motivation which is why I haven't been putting as much time into longer fics (nor the Friday Nights series or IKNBS, I do write but I refuse to force myself). I don't feel any urgency because uploading fics hasn't made me as happy as it used to. It feels like only other active writers are reading fic atm and it creates a lot of pressure on creatives to stay super active.
I'm aware that I'm insanely privileged to have the engagement that I do have, that the type of stories I want to write are also the type of stories that generally seem to appeal. However, engagement tells you NOTHING about the quality of your work, only how many people are active in a fandom or like a specific pairing/character/trope. Your own unique voice matters more than numbers.
I also notice that a lot of people who used to read my works have disappeared which I completely understand. The fixation can ebb away during times of inactivity or when a certain hype dies down. People just don't get that dopamine hit anymore and move on. It's also entirely possible they get tired of a certain style of writing and prefer other writers at times, what do I know. I definitely don't blame anyone for that. First and foremost people should read for their own enjoyment and engage with fandom in a way that makes them happy. It makes no sense to pressure people into engaging. A huge issue right now is people overthinking these things which makes support transactional instead of genuine.
I don't care much about notes but I REALLY miss the feeling of sharing a fic with people who are excited for it, that sense of an active community. BUT the activity will come back – the movie will come out, new music and videos, heck even a whole new Papa!!! That's the natural flow of things. We can't be excited and super active all the time, we need phases of calmness as well (which is an act of rebellion in the capitalist hellscape of overproduction and churned out content. I am honestly glad Ghost is taking it easy).
Now, I recommend you write your story exactly how you want to!!! do NOT change it for the sake of popularity because it will lose its very soul and you will struggle to be happy with it by the end. You know how you want to tell your story and nothing else matters. It will find its readers or you can wait and share it at a later point. I recommend that you approach other writers and readers and intensify that contact, make friends and talk to them about your stories, hype each other up, share snippets. It's even more meaningful to know people you like enjoy what you do. I am currently working on super niche fics for non-Ghost characters and I'm honestly having a great time chasing that dopamine by just writing what I'm really into and sharing it with friends. Fandom is community, fandom is fun and we can work to make it better for everyone.
A few general tips when it comes to making stories accessible: Format them to be readable (paragraphs!!), add a "read more" break, add proper content information and a nice summary to draw people in, add some visual appeal like a banners or stock image edits (like i do for IKNBS) and then tag the fics with relevant tags (and only those). Also make sure to tag the OG post, tags on reblogs do nothing for reach. Engage with the community when you feel like it and it's likely that the community will engage back. Being supportive is worth it, being kind is always worth it even if it amounts to nothing.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ HoFaS spoilers ⚠️⚠️⚠️
.
.
.
Be warned, this is going to be a rant.
.
.
Ok, the HoFaS crossover was supposed to be exciting, but it ended up being another trigger topic for me thanks to the obnoxious N.esta stans who never hold her accountable for her wrong choices and always pick on the characters who stand up to her/call her out on her crap.
The thing is, I didn't even dislike her in this crossover, but I swear the moment her stans open their mouth, I go straight back to hating her. I don't even know how it is possible to be so clouded that they can't see/recognise when she's wrong or the hurt she causes/her actions may cause to other people. How they can always defend her without considering any other perspective/logic and proceed with the slander of any character that does not share her ideas or approve of her actions. Or how they demand respect for her trauma while ignoring/invalidating the one she inflicted to others.
The point in this case is: giving Bryce the mask WAS a dumb, rushed, risky choice. Stop ranting and insulting Rhys for his reaction, he was bloody RIGHT (also, Azriel was on that line too, why isn't he an asshole too?). I thought that immediately, even before reading the bonus chapter. You're even bashing Cassian for not defending her, as if she wasn't gambling with everyone's life because she somewhat liked Bryce and understood her desperate situation. Which could be admirable if it wasn't a lot hypocritical of her, considering that she barely moved a finger to help win their war against Hybern. And about that: isn't it time to wake up? It was Elain to end the King, N/esta just cut his head off once the hard part was done. And on top of that, both her and Cassian would be as good as dead without Elain's intervention. But why am I even bothering to talk about this...
And by the way, to those hating on Cassian, now here's a flash news: you do not have to defend your partner if you think they are wrong. It doesn't mean you don't love them, acting like the significat other is always right is not how support looks like. And N.esta can clearly speak for herself, maybe even too much, and with too much entitlement. You don't want to respond of your actions to Feyre and Rhys? Well, fucking leave the Night Court already! They're its rulers!!!
And Bryce's mom was the other one being totally out of line and acting entitled tbh and quite rude. I mean, you are in another world, in which your daughter made mess after mess, with people you need something from whether you like it or not, people you don't know and you talk that way? Not every bloody Fae is the Autumn King or the Avallen King! Someone really has to tell her AND Bryce, given that she passed that bias toward the entirety of the species to her. Generalisation is always wrong. And also, you know, it's a matter of good manners, and that issue was really none of her goddamn business. She could've spoken on N/esta's behalf using different tones, and it would have been a lot different.
Now, let's get back at the mask thing.
Honestly, I get that I was supposed to root for Bryce in this one, but she made it quite difficult for me when all she did in Prythian was putting that world in a danger she was very aware of. Like freeing an Asteri on Prythian soil, as if Vesperus would ever tell Bryce how to kill her own species. I get she was desperate, but it was just dumb and egoistic of her to do that, to risk to bring the same evil that plagues her world into another one, especially when there was no guarantee (quite the opposite actually) that by doing that she'd get the answers she was looking for.
Bryce had no reason to trust them, and they had no reason to trust her as well. Had Bryce failed, the consequences of giving her the mask would have been catastrophic. And I am not even going to mention Nyx's safety as a reason for Rhys to be pissed at N/esta. Rhysand and Feyre are responsible for the whole Night Court. And in this case, the whole of Prythian, AGAIN. There is a reason if they're the ones in charge, position that actually includes putting your people first and being able to make hard choices, even if they are morally grey choices, to protect their people. N.esta doesn't have such responsibility, and thankfully so because she would be terrible in that position. Moreover, they've just come out of a war, for Rhysand it was the second war he fought and after 50 years of UTM... but of course, why would N.esta care? She was somewhere safe almost the entirety of the time while Feyre - who died to save the very same world N.esta was endangering with her choice - was out fighting for everyone's safety. I am honestly shocked by how people refuse to even consider Rhysand's perspective, at least on this one. As if he knew Bryce and what she was capable of (and as if the whole resolution in CC wasn't due to pure luck, anyway) and have the slightest idea she might succeed. Also, Bryce had 10 other ways to manage the whole situation differently. Had she cooperated a little instead of proving to be a loose cannon, she might have had the chance to actually GET their help without having to take it by stealing and endangering Prythian. Trust goes both ways. They could have found a common ground or made a deal that ensured Prythian's safety and at the same time help Lunathion. Rhys and Feyre are sensitive to people who are suffering and would do something about it. There was no need to endanger Prythian in the process. But 1. They would've stolen the show and 2. Bryce's the one who left Baxian and Fury in Avallen or didn't think of calling Jesiba during the final battle against the Asteri, why would she think that someone as powerful as Rhysand and as knowning as Amren could be helpful anyway 🙄 her "Aelin wanna be" era failed miserably because she actually didn't have the skills, the drive, the strategic thinking and the experience to be like her, despite the efforts. But Bryce is a topic for another day.
This is my tea for today. It's been a year I'm part of this fandom and I've tried so hard not to rant/write about acotar just to avoid the toxic part of this fandom, but hey, patience has its limits, this is still my space and seeing all that "everyone" slander from the pro N.esta for no logical reason really got on my last nerve at this point.

former limiting beliefs i used to hold and how i let them go ♡
(disclaimer: these are based off of my own experience! share yours on your own blog 🥰)
“the 3d HAS to reflect the 4d just understand you have it in your 4d no matter what.” um there is no separation between the 3d and 4d when you are already 1 being (consciousness). theres no need to live in a separate entity known as imagination when its the same as the “3d” anyways. the concepts of “imagination” “physical world” or “3d” are just false forms of consciousness youve made up and personified it as real. they are not. only you are.
“the more you repeat your affirmations the more likely they will come” theres nothing to “do” or say that will bring me my desires since i am everything i already am my desires. the idea of “doing” anything to “get something” outside of me doesnt make sense when its all in me. affirmations can be used to “bring things to your awareness” but understand the affirmations themselves are STILL not bringing you anyway. just making you aware of things.
“dont check the 3d! you’ll be in a state of lack/showing yourself you dont have it!” PLS GIVE ME A BREAK?? why the fuck are you telling urself you are with someone but afraid to check their socials or for their notifications? either date someone u like or you dont think you have it. because lets be honest. if you really were in a relationship with your desired person the idea of “checking the 3d”- which u already claim IS your 4d- shouldnt be an issue. and if it is then something aint right but i wont judge!
“youre in a state of neutrality if you dont care ab not getting your desires and you dont have them” damn yall strict asf. you cant even be indifferent without it meaning something. you either have it or you dont. if im indifférent its bc i have it why stress? fucking decide already
“neville taught ab non dualism!” here we go. then why tf did you misinterpret his words like that and make it sound obnoxious? i believe he did, just like his teacher, teach non dualism (the power of awareness by him is great) but his teachings are a far cry from the nonsense most of you spew in his name. and dont even get me started on how neville used to refer to the law of assumption as the “law of consciousness” but i digress. if you separate yourself or any aspects of being then it isnt non dualism.*
going into my next point “you HAVE to read source to understand!!” i am so glad most of the law of assumption community is breaking free from this mindset cuz you infact do not HAVE to read anything. if you are the operant (main) power doesnt this mean you are your own source? oh i thought so…
“work on your self concept to manifest your sp if you dont have them your sc is shitty” well it wasnt shitty til you told me i had work to do 💀. once again there is NOTHING you need to do but “be”. working on your sc can help u feel better ab yourself for sure but its not required!
for supposedly limitless beings, a lot of yall are very limited. be careful who you get your advice from because personally i wouldnt take after someone whos too scared to text their sp- oops i mean significant other. (disclaimer: once again not bashing loa just the users who can’t decide that they believe and switch every other day. very common on law of assumption twitter!)
if you realize youve been limiting yourself this whole time and now youre like “what now-“ well as ive stated before, theres STILL nothing you need to do. youre not missing anything. this isnt a blog on why you dont have your desires, i cant tell you the answer im not your creator. (you also are everything so you in fact have your desires)
like non dualism, i hope to share this way of life with you as you’re not getting anything so theres no need for limitations. LIVE YOUR LIFE. if someone is advising you to fear your own power then ignore them cuz wtf! life is suppose to be fun not a rule book!
*disclaimer: i have nothing against neville goddard. i really like some of his teachings. however i would never go to one of his living students for advice, ESPECIALLY on twitter. not only do most parrot the same limiting beliefs he himself didnt hold, but most are obnoxious about the topic of the law of assumption. i don’t even “manifest” but if i were trying to and had them to go to I’d probably cry. if you really wish to read “source”, read The Power Of Awareness by Neville Goddard and Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle 💜 learn from the teachers themselves FIRST <3

being autistic and avoidant
i've noticed that both my avoidant personality and my autistic neurology impact each other greatly. still, even though it's one of the more frequent personality diagnoses alongside autism, i don't really see anyone talk about what being an avoidant autistic is like.
that being said, here are a few ways i notice they interact in my personal experience:
cognitive empathy
a major part of both disabilities are their impacts on cognitive empathy. autism often causes people to avoid assuming others' thoughts and feelings, while avoidants tend to assume these feelings are negative and personal.
before i developed my avoidant personality, i fell into the latter category. people could be blatantly unhappy and i'd just...assume things were fine.
at this point, however, my avoidant perspective-taking has definitely become my main thought process. i always feel like people hate me or what i'm doing or just generally aren't in the mood to deal with me.
i wouldn't say that i "have cognitive empathy" now, but moreso that i'm too focused on avoiding rejection to not be constantly assume the worst.
self-esteem
another part of avoidant personality is the idea that you're socially inept, regardless of evidence. being autistic complicates this since--by definition--all autistic people would be considered "socially inept" by society.
this makes it difficult to know when autistic self-awareness ends and avoidant self-deprecation begins. am i incapable of [social thing] because i'm autistic, or because i simply don't believe i am?
at points, i've questioned my autism due to this. like, maybe i'm just exaggerating; i've seen allistic avoidants mistake it for autism before, as well.
however, others' perspectives and my significant restrictive/repetitive behavior makes it clear that it's not just me.
self-direction
my ability to manage myself is impacted by both my autism and my avoidance.
on the one hand, autism gives me executive dysfunction, autistic inertia, and rituals that are rigid to the point of self-sabotage.
but on the other hand, being avoidant makes me too self-conscious to take care of myself easily, namely considering that i don't live alone, thus am in a constant state of social vigilance.
for example, i've yet to learn how to cook.
one issue is that i've gotten so used to the routine of having food made for me that it's triggering to be suddenly encouraged to change, but another is that i'm afraid of the attention taking any initiative would bring.
i don't believe i'd be shamed for it, but being avoidant makes any attention feel intimidating to me; it's not purely a fear of criticism, but generally a fear of recognition (which is ironic considering that i'm also a narcissist, making me very attention-seeking, as well).
social skills
not only does being avoidant impact how i think of my social abilities, but also how i utilize them.
being alexithymic, it can be hard to understand even my own motivations in things. at points, i can't tell if i'm being quote/unquote "socially inept" because i can't understand the situation or because i simply don't want to make any moves.
for example, i almost never make eye contact with others. i originally thought of this as part of my autism, but i honestly can't tell if it's that or my avoidant personality.
on the one hand, eye contact is sincerely overwhelming, but on the other, i can easily do it with animals, fictional characters, and my own reflection. i also made eye contact pre-avoidance. maybe i'm simply too afraid of the intimacy, not actually sensory-sensitive to it?
in other situations, it can be a mixture of both autism and avoidance.
for example, i tend to avoid initiating conversations. i don't want to draw attention to myself or risk rejection, but i also genuinely don't know how i'm expected to start a conversation at all.
external perceptions
i've been told that my social anxiety is obvious, but not my autism. if most people knew what avoidant personality was, i assume i'd probably be recognized as outright avoidant very easily.
pretty much everyone considers me withdrawn in some way. i've been called quiet, indecisive, easy (as in "passive"), reserved, and various similar words.
in some cases, this works in my favor. there have been situations where people have treated me even friendlier than they do others because they see me as fragile.
in many other cases, this works against me; people avoid me because i'm too withdrawn for their tastes. this enables my avoidant behavior, as it affirms--and partially caused--my belief that no one could actually want to be around me.
in other cases, people don't see me as anxious, but just emotionally cold. people have sometimes questioned if i hated them or was angry with them due to my behavior. however, this is typically due to explicitly autistic behavior rather than anything avoidant.
apparently, people also see me as somewhat eccentric. my mom described it once as "the many quirks of ian." i'm not fully aware what these quirks are, but they're there.
