Beyond all the societal beauty standards bullshit, there's one thing that really is just annoying about being a fat/heavier person and that's the fact that you need a heavier weighted blanket, which are often hard to find and expensive as fuck, to REALLY have that Weighted Blanket Experience™

A little ramble about when you're too hyper or fidgety and its distracting/stressing you out more in the moment.
something I'm learning about myself as a confirmed adhd lad is that there are gonna be moments where you think you aren't having a too hyper, fidgety, or anxious moment- but all signs are showing that you might be.
How do I know? 20 minutes ago my body felt like it was twitching out of control and tense at the same time. I've been worried about my homework all week and the fact that I can't seem to get myself to do it even when I need to. I grabbed my weighted blanket thinking it'll prove I'm not anxious and you know what happened? I stopped twitching. I calmed down and relaxed more than I have in the last couple of hours.
So if you're feeling too hyperactive, anxious, fidgety, or whatever- find something to weigh you down and bring you back. Something like that helps in these moments where we aren't sure what is happening but know something is. Take care of yourself out there. Punishing your body isn't going to help you in the long run.
Also if you're wondering why I'm talking more about adhd than anxiety; its because my adhd is causing me stress, and now it's triggering my anxiety. This is just my experience. Plus, a situation like this (am really fidgety ---> distracts and or distresses me ---> grab weighted blanket or something to ground me ---> is calmed by it) has happened multiple times in the past.
Take care of yourselves y'all

Hi, you said to send you an ask if anyone has more ideas for the neurodivergent aid post - Maybe weighted blankets sold by IKEA? IKEA is available in a lot of places, they have different weight options, the product is called ODONVIDE.
ohh!! this is a great idea, thank you!! hope you don't mind I expanded on this with more weighted items.
here's a link to the 13.2lb twin size, they also come in 17.6lbs and 22.1lbs, just going off the Google ads.
here's an alternative link to a cheaper option from target, these can also be in the store but im sure the price fluctuates. my app currently says this one is $30 but it's set to my store, it can be different based off location, availability, and eventually when the deal ends or begins again.
there are many Amazon listings for different weighted blankets, as well as options on Etsy.

( image description: a general weighted blanket guide chart comparing the users body weight to the blanket weight, for safe use for the individual, or couple. general rule is your blanket being 10% of your body weight. /end description )
if blankets are not the product for you, but you still want something weighted;
Amazon has weighted hoodies, I know I'd personally enjoy this a Lot more.
Etsy, Amazon, and maybe even a local grocery store near you has weighted and/or microwavable plushies. please check the product information before you put your plushie in the microwave.
I don't have a weighted heating pad myself, but when my cat lays on me I know in my heart it would've helped me so much with my PMDD when i was still menstruating.
i can't find a weighted version of my favorite fidget toy(the tangle, if anyone knows that one exists lmk!) but I recall Markiplier reviewing fidget toys and his #1 favorite was the ONO roller, and he said it was rather weighty. I don't actually watch Markiplier since gaming YouTube isn't my thing but I trust his opinion.
ok I'm running out of ideas here. hand weight to help your fine motor skills in your hand, if you have shakey hands. there are a lot of disabled people out here who I believe would benefit from something like this, especially if you're someone who does crafts with their hands such as crochet.
since I've already gotten one angry anon, I am not sponsored or making any sort of money off any of this.

So I'm on the full dose of Wellbutrin now and I've been averaging about 2-5 hours of sleep a night. Very uncool.
La~di~da, psych meds
I've always had issues falling asleep. Even back in elementary school I was always, without exception, the last person asleep at our weekly sleepovers. I've stayed up all night and watched the sunrise waiting for my friends to wake up because I.cannot.sleep. I'd get up to go to the bathroom and deliberately be loud about it in the hopes someone would wake up and keep me company.
I spent a lot of my highschool life on literally (literally literally) zero hours of sleep. When I worked at the bookstore, I'd sometimes hallucinate because if I knew I had to be up at 6, I would not bother sleeping at all and by the time 6 or 9 rolled around I was fully out of my body. On the 9 hour flight to Japan, I did not sleep for a single second despite a generous Benadryl dose and being so, so desperately tired.
It sucks. But at least when the suffering was done, I would eventually sleep for at least 8 hours (and start all over again in a few days).
But Wellburtin is a whole different goddamned beast.
I've been banished to a different bed than Aries because historically, it takes me a few hours but I would eventually sleep. But now I toss and turn and grumble for hours and keep him up. And like, to be fair, if I'm NOT going to sleep why should I be there? I don't even try anymore. I melt into the couch and watch stupid Youtube videos. I refresh Tumblr and visit my 13000+ likes when the nightposting dries up. I start new books. I clean the kitchen. Aries has woken up to me using my Hello Kitty karaoke machine at 2am being like "Hey, so uh, can you try to stfu". It's bad. I will eventually go unconscious usually when the sun starts rising, and then have to go work.
But!!!!! What the actual fuck!? I am not napping. W H A T. I can't. I try, but I've spent the last two weeks awake all day, and for me, that hasn't happened in years.
This can't be normal.
I have a doc appointment on Wednesday and I think I'm going to finally accept the offer for trazodone lmao. I'll probably need another medication review, but I'll do whatever. Please. Just let me sleep more than 4 hours.
What have I done to the Sleep Gods to anger them so.

I'm a bit touch starved. I don't have any friends who can hug me. Is there anything I could do to manage it? Because right now I'm yearning all the time
Hi anon :)
Thank you for getting in touch with us here at MHA.
The first thing that came to mind when I saw this ask was a weighted blanket! I love my weighted blanket and I find that it really helps when I feel like I just need a hug but have nobody close to give me one. Getting cozy under that and watching a tv show or film or reading a book you love can provide you some self-soothing to make you feel more at peace. Weighted blankets can be pricey so an alternative is to lay under multiple normal blankets or a big coat, something like that. Also, things like a heating pack or hot water bottle can be really soothing to feel the warmth and again to get cozy.
Doing those things whilst on the phone with family or friends can also be nice because you have the audible comfort of talking to a loved one and the physical comfort of the blanket or whichever option you choose.
Self-care is also really important. Try to take at least an hour or two a day for yourself; fill that time with doing things that you enjoy and make you feel relaxed and at peace. For example, I take the two hours before I go to sleep and try it fill that time with things like art and music, I’ll also take the time to have a bath, wash my hair, look after my skin, etc. Practicing self-care also involves things like making sure you are getting enough sleep, eating well, and staying hydrated. Remember to look after yourself.
If it is something you are able to do, have you considered spending more time in person with friends or joining any clubs or anything? Just spending time around people can help a bit even if you aren't getting any physical touch. And please remember it is okay and isn't embarrassing at all to want physical touch - have you considered asking any family or friends for a hug or something small? I'm sure people would understand and love a hug from you if that is what you wanted.
I hope this has been of some use to you anon. Please look after yourself! We're here if you need us.
Take care,
Rhiann xo

anyone know where to get a fluffy weighted blanket? i have a weighted blanket already but it’s just like cloth on one side and a print on the other and the texture isn’t exactly my favorite. i want one that’s fluffy and has like a cool, silky feeling when i run my hands over it so i can just continuously run my hands back and forth across it and it feels nice against my skin if i want to wrap myself in it like a regular blanket
