i think part of the reason people are so hateful about fat people is because theyre not fat, even though they put little to no effort into their diet and daily activity levels. even if they dont live healthy lifestyles and theyre not trying to, and theyre still a "normal" weight. and because theyre ignorant and resistant to learning about how peoples bodily functions vary wildly, anyone who is fat must have brought it upon themselves by being extra lazy or extra glutinous and if they were normal they wouldnt be fat and its soooo easy to not be fat because look at them theyre not fat. which is so fucking stupid because so many people complain about how skinny people exist without "earning" how skinny they are, theyre literally just like that even if they eat tons of food because they're trying desperately not to be skinny. but the opposite cant be true for fat people apparently. fatness is always a direct consequence of abnormal habits apparently.

To the tune of
"Walking in a Winter Wonderland"
Through your feed, are they driftin'
Opportunists, they're loudly griftin'
"It'll cure you tonight, It can make you so light"
Don't fall for all the diet scammer fads
On your fears, they're really leanin'
Press your pain points, get in your feelings
Make you feel wrong, So you'll play along
Don't fall for all the diet scammer fads
In their private groups they make their pitches
They pretend that what they're using "rocked"
You say is it backed by science?
They say "Yes Bitch"
But you can't ask for proof because you're blocked
At their conventions, they conspire
These culty trends, they inspire
To make you afraid, Of how your body's made
Don't fall for all the diet scammer fads

Funny how people aren't fat phobic but then you ask peoples opinion on American food and pseudoscience about food and hatred of fat people fill their brains.
Ahh yes please tell me what you think americans eat on the daily with no nuance and yes please critique a food additive that is in other countries (albeit often named differently) also yes lets talk about portion sizes and ignore leftover culture at restauraunts, lets say anti-science things about food ingredients, lets blame americans for the cost of food/inflation/factory farming & our corrupt government, let's ignore the inaccessibility of food in many parts of the US and pretend food insecurity doesn't exist, let's demonize buying in bulk, let's be fatphobic about peoples bodies and make assumptions about their diet doing so, yes let's make fun of certain cuisine in america without any nuance (and ignoring how it can be often racist to do so), yess please go on riveting stuff you got there /sarcasm

did you know that you can not be attracted to fat people and not be fatphobic. just because you don’t find a body type sexy doesn’t give you the right to discriminate against it.

Fitness and Fatness are not mutually exclusive. You can be fit at any size, because fitness is not about your weight.
It's about your muscle mass, your flexibility & mobility, your cardiorespiratory endurance, your nutrient intake, your hydration levels, and your sleep quality.
To be clear: Fitness is not a moral superiority. No one owes the world fitness. But it is an option for anyone, regardless of their size.
Fit bodies come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. And you actually cannot tell just by looking at someone how fit they really are.
TW for fatphobic language, but this has actually been studied before, if you'd like to read more about it, this article covers some major points.
Like the fact that, cardiorespiratory fitness correlated with health measures, not weight.
Meaning that Very Fat people who were also fit did not show the negative health measures that are often associated with weight. But you know who did? Average weight people with below average cardiorespiratory fitness levels.
So again, to summarize: You don't owe anyone fitness, but please don't believe that fitness isn't an option for you, just because of your size.
Your weight has literally nothing to do with it. And you do not need to lose weight in order to increase your fitness. That's a fatphobic myth.

i am making a request
So I need to start doing more cooking as I work towards my independence and whatnot as an adult. I'd love to find some good recipes. No big deal, I can just look them up online or in the cookbooks we have in the house, right?
Apparently not, unfortunately. I was very quickly reminded of the reality of this when I went to check the instant pot cookbook that a friend had given us. Just some recipes for that particular appliance, should be fine - aaaand it's a diet book.
So, needless to say, I haven't been doing this for quite some time (or else that wouldn't have surprised me in the slightest). Many, many recipe books and sites center around dieting and weight loss, or will even just mention in their recipes that it's good for such things - regardless if that's the point of the recipe.
I really, really don't need that kind of nonsense when I'm just trying to feed myself and practice self-care, so this is a call to everybody who knows anything about cooking, recipes, and/or fat activism. Preferably all three.
Do y'all know of any good cookbooks, recipe websites, etc, that are at least half-decent about, like, Not Doing That? Whether they're neutral or body-positive, that helps. This post will be linked in my pinned post (which I will hopefully organize soon) so that it's easier to find.
Just, like, recipes that don't have fatphobia/sizeism/diet culture woven into them, whether it's the description or trashing the quality for the purpose of weight loss or anything else like that. Thanks in advance!
Thin people are welcome to reblog and contribute but don't clown on this post or you will be blocked.
Edit: if you're looking for recipes, please check the notes! As much as I'd like to make this a long-ass masterlist of recipes, recipe books, etc, I could absolutely see this getting away from me, so do keep that in mind. I'll try to keep as much as I can in one chain, though!

you know what fucking pisses me off ? people saying that fat people need to lose weight because they're unhealthy. like first off all that is a huge assumption that they are unhealthy (and you're basing that off how they look which is super fucked up) but also who fucking cares if they're unhealthy!!! disabled people often aren't completely healthy !! there's a reason it's called a chronic ILLNESS !!!!! because we're sick !! and that is fucking okay !! you do not need to be healthy to be worthy of living your life. to be able to say that you think you look nice !!!

Aware this is ground we've covered time and again, but there's this overarching issue with how a lot of Europeans--especially western Europeans, from what I've personally seen--talk about problems in the U.S. where they adopt a viewpoint which has this almost Lewis Carroll-like quality; [x assertion about obes*ty/laziness/ignorance/education/politics/etc.] ought to makes sense, and it presents as soundly leftist, but when you get right down to it is actually deeply fallacious and functionally very conservative (often with much more sinister overtones undertones).
The kinds of complaints and criticisms I'm talking about are almost always big ones, things which apply to or affect significant portions of the country's population. They also frequently disproportionately hurt lower classes and oppressed groups. Yet instead of looking for root causes or trying to understand the problem/previous attempts to solve it in any meaningful way, they put both the onus and blame on individuals.
As common as this beloved conservative tactic is among many ostensibly leftist Europeans, it's honestly hard for me to feel offended for a few reasons:
One, because I--like many U.S. citizens--have unlearned (and continue to unlearn) the nationalism shoved down our throats in school and also think this country sucks, partly because I am subjected to just how bad it sucks every single day.
Two, because the hypocrisy of a person simultaneously preaching about ignorance and demonstrating their own is hard to take seriously.
Three, because the amount of arrogance required to believe that if one's own country was subjected to the same cultural, political, and practical realities as the U.S., they and the other citizens of their own country wouldn't fall prey to the exact same problems they're mocking--wouldn't see similar rates of poor health, would simply Not Be Ignorant, would out-excellent math and transcend victimhood (presumably through their inherent genetic? superiority)--is mind-blowing. In fact, it's difficult to keep calling it "arrogance" instead of ethnocentrism. Plenty would argue that's still too charitable a term.
And four, because a lot of those who do this most consistently and loudly literally come from the very countries which colonized the Americas and which continue to hold and act on the ideologies which not only shape the U.S., but serve as the foundation for literally every horrible thing they're criticizing and/or complaining about.

aforementioned scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, it's not necessarily giving gay, but it is definitely giving 'my wife and i don't have sex with any regularity'
I know this scene is probably more Stephen King throwing rocks at how Eddie's wife is ugly or undesirable for being fat but.... I happen to know Eddie Kaspbrak personally (Unlike King) and he is actually gay and asexual. I take no criticism ever

IF YOU USE UQUIZ, PLEASE DONT SCROLL <3
Edit: Eh, I’ve realised it’s better to just ignore it at this point
Hey guys, so uquiz is a quiz website and all that jazz. I love taking quizzes under the “new quizzes” tab for fun. But recently, I’ve seen SEVERAL quizzes addressed to “Felix” but I wasn’t sure if it was me. Putting together some information and I do think they actually are meant for me. These quizzes are hateful because I “wrote a paragraph” in a provided textbox because the person who’s quiz I was taking said some racist, fatphobic (i think), and homophobic shit and I’m obviously not okay with that.
I genuinely don’t know what to do in this situation and I’m kind of scared. Anyone have advice? /srs
Under the cut is every quiz about felix I could find.
This above one is from Ren, the other person receiving hate
And below are the two quizzes I took that I believe started the drama.

You know People who say "people who critic JK Rowling need to grow up" dont understand that just because she has a tragic past and has trauma and depresion doesn't mean she has the right to hurt others.
That trans people are a minority, that they get murdered everday, that she is triying to take human beings rights away from them just because she disagrees with them.
They don't understand that she only has empathy for very epecific mental ilneses like depresion and eating disorders while claiming all other mental ilneses make you evil, even tho people who sufer from mental ilneses such as, bipolar disorder, schidsofrenia , pshycosis and many others are sufering every day , getting abused by their own family menbers and the hospitals they pot them in ( depending on the hospital, this only happend's sometimes, there very good hospitals out ther, this is not the norm), getting denied terapy and medication and killing themselfs bicause of it.
Or how she made big people out to be evil or gross and ugly when in the era the book publish fatphobia was already super serius, she probably caused a lot of plush size students tu be heavily bullied in meany schools with her books.
They don't understand that not everyone who critics someone is a " hater" who wants to see her fail, or that hates her for being human and making mistakes.
Whe want her to apologise and become a better person, but every time someone dares to say anything she did wrong, she just makes up excuses.
She just yells, "i don't care!!"
JK Rowling needs to grow the fuck up.
Just because you like Harry Potter doesn't mean you have to pretend the autor can do no wrong and that the books are perfect.
