Do you have any headcanons of Lyra and Toby’s relationship?
this has been in my inbox for like over a week by now because this is a big task in my head. i will focus more on the family itself, but obviously the siblings r there.
ROGERS FAMILY HCS UNDER THE CUT... tw for abuse and addiction, of course
ok. WE'RE GETTING PERSONAL HERE. im the eldest daughter of 3 so the way in which i project into older siblings is insane. ive also had an addict father(no where near like frank though let me clarify) so in general . . the story.. makes me feel very...... basically their relationship is very personal to me.
lyra is about 2-3 years older than toby.
frank's dad was in the vietnam war, his grandparents were in wwii, his grandparents in wwi, etc. so he went into military service right after marrying connie. for a long while, he was SUPER military strict. those kids were up, made their bed, and down for chores by 6am everyday. he made them do military time rather than civilian time. he was incredibly traditional, expected a perfectly clean household, a polite soft daughter, a strong bold son, perfect wife. he wanted the 1950s nuclear family model. so toby and lyra grew up in a very clean, strict, traditional household.
in my au, frank wasnt outright abusive until the kids were around 8-11. it was after he developed his addictions and lost his job. the kids really didnt understand what was changing at first, and legitimately were like 'omg dad isnt making us wake up at 5am everyday..... this is so cool'.
theyd start having sleepovers in eachothers room, slacking a bit on chores, going to sleep late, sleeping in. toby didnt develop his tourettes until he was around 7, so lyra and toby would walk home from their elementary school together. sometimes, theyd walk another friend home first, stop at convenience stores to get candy, pet a cat, etc. frank didnt say a thing for the first few months, just drunken grumbles along connies worried 'WHERE HAVE U BEEN'. if they weren't walking around the area, they were in the backyard playing soccer.
eventually the abuse began, and all of those little freedoms were quickly stripped from the kids.
toby developing tourrettes around this time was a painful coincidence, because not only did he experience abuse at home, but awful bullying at school. he was promptly pulled out after completing 3rd grade. he was only 8.
lyra would practically run home from school everyday, as fast as a 12 year old girl with a backpack could manage, just because she spent all 7 hours in school worrying about toby at home. connie had to start working to pay bills, so..
when toby was around 11 and lyra was around 13, toby started kinda just. being more distant. he was kind of a dick to lyra for a period of time, half because of everything he was going through, half because puberty is rough. his room started getting messy, lyra had to start picking up chores he was slacking on , etc. lyra isnt perfect and began to resent toby for this, and eventually, the two were kinda at eachothers throats for like 6 months. which isnt a lot, but for kids, its an eternity.
when franks abuse evolved from ''just'' verbal abuse, to shoves, to slaps, to full on beatings, toby started egging frank on. just to get him off of lyra and connie. obviously he couldnt feel it, and while it sure took a fucking mental toll, it was so much easier to just wait it out rather than listen to the girls cry.
lyra didnt even realize toby was doing this for a while, she just thought it was all part of him going through his little hormonal asshole phase, until one day frank made a fucked up comment about 'youre lucky that boy is always causing trouble. was supposed to be you'. then it kinda clicked and she very quickly tried to fix their relationship back to what it was.
frank eventually scared connie so badly that there'd be periods of time where she'd take the kids in the middle of the night, and run off to either her parents place, or even a random hotel in another city. she'd use cash, force the kids to keep their phones at home, leave literally everything behind and often make the kids pick out new toothbrushes at a random walmart. etc. it would only last a few days each time, and lyra fought so hard to stay strong while her mom cried and toby closed himself off.
she'd try to get toby to come to the hotel pools with her, try to get him to watch tv with her, try to get him to just fucking talk to her. he was often catatonic during these little runaways, once the confusion adrenaline and fear wore off
it wasnt until they went around a month without seeing their father, and frank had some weird fucking. 'those are MY kids too' thing and went to connie's parents house while all the adults were out, and forced the kids back home. this was the first time lyra was full on sobbing and begging and pleading in years. that was what shifted something in toby, too.
now tobys 13, lyras 15, and theyre on better footing. theyre starting to understand eachother. tobys back on keeping up with chores, knowing that either him lyra or connie was going to get beat if they were missed. sometimes he'd just silently come into lyras room and lay down and watch tv with her. they'd talk about books, about school, their trust was built right back up and toby ended up being the first to know about lyras school drama, gossip, boys, etc.
toby wasn't really socialized properly, since he's been homeschooled for 6 years by now. all the time, he'd hear lyras stories, and wish he could go to school. his mom would be horrified anytime toby asked, because all she could remember was her sweet boy coming home and crying into her arms after a day of being mocked and pushed around by peers.
so he began to live through lyra, in a sense ? he almost became a diary for lyra, and he kinda loved it. she was like a sitcom to him.
frank wasnt a good father by any means during this period, he was still awful, but he wasn't constantly looking for trouble. the kids kept to themselves, connie did everything she was expected to, he didnt give a shit about their grades or social lives. he couldn't even recgonize when lyra was coming home late.
lyra got her license the second she turned 16. the house had two cars, and its not like frank was ever going anywhere, so she was always going everywhere. she adored the freedom, and took toby wherever he'd let her. he only really left the house if he was going grocery shopping with his mom or something, so it was kinda weird now that he was just. going to malls. going to restaurants. going to parks. just Hanging Out. every now and again he'd stick around when Lyra was with her friends, but he didn't like them so it was rare.
sometimes theyd just drive together for a long time. at night, she was the one to take him to every hospital visit, she even got him to volunteer at a pet shelter she worked at for a bit. 3 years and they become so close again, and lyra is tobys best friend. she's his entire world because who else does he have ? he loves his mom, but she's married to the man he hates more than anything
toby was 16 and lyra was 18 when frank strangled toby till he passed out. thats finally when connie kicked frank out, forcing frank to go live on his moms couch. lyra was mortified and started spending an absurd amount of time with toby. she took online community college courses just so she could spend even more time with toby, and it didnt hurt to do so since frank wasnt there anymore. things were getting better for the family, frank was gone, lyra was in college, connie was working, toby was volunteering at shelters and even had a few acquaintances he'd talk to now and again.
lyra picked toby up from the shelter he volunteered at when the accident happened.
lyra and connie had matching silver necklaces with a circle pendant that had their initials. toby didnt cuz frank would get pissed if toby tried wearing jewelry, but when lyra died, toby immediately clung to it. he wears it religiously. the only time he takes it off is if he knows he's going to kill someone that day. otherwise, its always on him.
lyra died and was buried in colorado. toby lives in alabama now. so he really doesnt visit her grave often. only on her birthday, he'll scramble together some money and get brian, tim, and kate to agree to cover his uh. 'shifts' with slenderman, and take a few loooonnnggg train rides over to colorado.
he'll leave two bouquets of flowers. one for lyra, one for connie.
connie just feels in her heart that its toby. she has no reason to believe it, they've never bumped into eachother (toby's visiting at like 2am and falls asleep near the grave for a few hours), but she knows nobody else whos visiting lyras grave and leaving two sets of the same flowers.
toby and lyras childhood home was put on sale shortly after it was reconstructed from the fire, and connie moved in with her sister. lyras bedroom door was the only one that was shut and left unscathed after the fire (legitimately keep your doors shut if you ever have a housefire it can save entire bedrooms and even lives). the rest of the house was ruined, but not lyras room. connie kept every single one of her belongings, but she's put some photos out on the grave. tobys taken them, and connie believes it was him. again, she has no reason to believe it other than the flowers and 'why would someone take a photo of my dead daughter.'

Since he’s my favorite to love and angst, what’s Warriors’ backstory in your Chain as Cryptids AU? Does it involve a lot of angst? Is Linkle (personal hc her as Warriors’ sister) involved? It’s fine if she’s not but is there angst?!
I don’t know why but he and Wild are the best to angst. In my opinion, others are different.
Hmmmm Warriors. Sword Spirit. Cool guy.
I will make a post (eventually) with a detailed backstory for him, but here’s some little bits of information!
He was created, not born. No family, because that’s not how spirits work. (Linkle is there, though. They’re close but not blood related because Sword Spirits don’t have blood). I think his sword is wielded by his Zelda until he’s discovered by the rest of the Chain.
And OH are they confused by him. Wars is pretty distant from the others simply because they have no idea how to interact with him. He probably gravitates towards Time, because Time is a literal God and even if the others don’t know that yet, Wars recognizes that he’s the most powerful in the group. So Time wields Wars’ sword.
Okay okay so I said that they don’t know how to interact with Wars at first. Like they stumble across his sword after being teleported to his era and they’re just like “but where’s the hero?”
It’s Sky who recognizes that he’s a Sword Spirit, and Sky who knows how to deal with (take care of) Warriors. The others (Four) mostly see Wars as a sword and have a hard time understanding a sentient sword. And (namely Wild) will see him more as a spirit, disconnected from the sword. Wild and Wars, both being spirits, can communicate telepathically with one another but they are polar opposites. Wild, the Child of the Mountains, a being made of light and attuned with nature vs. Wars, Sword Spirit, metallic and rough and industrial.
Sky, however, has experience with Sword Spirits. He’s met two of them in the past, and has respected both. Fi? Was very young for a spirit. Only a few thousand years old and was asleep for MOST of that time. But through Sky’s adventure, she helped him greatly. He depended on her. And as she spent time with him, she adopted his traits and developed a personality. (Seriously, towards the end of Skyward Sword, she’s so sassy. And Sky is the sassiest Link. She learned that from him!!! My heart). And then there was Ghirahim. Ghirahim was a Sword Spirit, much like Fi, but he was much older. He was awake for all those thousands of years- awake and independent of his Master. So he developed a very STRONG personality. And even if he was terrifying and creepy and tried to torture Sky at every opportunity, Sky respected him.
So immediately, Sky respects Wars. Warriors’ story is about finding independence and learning to be himself. What he is, without a Master. In the beginning of his adventure with the Chain, he is very much like Fi. He calls them all Master and he spends a lot of time retreated into his sword. In the time that he’s outside of the sword, he’s in his Hylian disguise since he believes that it makes the others like him better. It’s easier for them to understand if they know what they’re looking at haha!
Sky detests this, by the way. He’s always telling Wars to be himself. He encourages him to speak his mind, even though he talks in percentages and calculations for the most part (which is weird to everyone else but Sky gets it). The others also aren’t super comfortable with being called Master but Sky gets it. Sky’s a pretty understanding guy haha.
BRO THIS ISN’T AT ALL WHAT YOU ASKED FOR I’M SORRY. But yeah there’s some information about Wars. And a little bit of angst I think. I personally think that Sky and Wild are the easiest to write angst for, but that’s just because they’re my favorites haha. But yeah, Warriors’ main conflict is to learn about himself and accept himself. Only then can he be accepted by others. And it’s a rough road, but he’ll get there. Eventually.

they should be around their late 20s in this au, i hc that for every season of the show they age one year. so at the start they were like 15, and the show had 5 seasons (granted s5 was a bit messy and was full of aus and past flashbacks, but there was that demodragon arc and stuff) so they would be 20 at the end of the show. specifically they’re like 28 :) they are kinda old but hey at least they don’t have to pay taxes in the sewers…
HEIGHT PROBLEMS
oh god, when raph suddenly had a growth spurt it was horrible for leo. he was relentlessly being teased every single day and raph would NOT let off. and then when MIKEY hit being 1cm taller than leo, the teasing fucking doubled and he was downright miserable. they kept growing while leo was barely getting any height. he’s still their sensei though — and he makes them do extra training as punishment for the relentless teasing :) donnie doesn’t join in on the teasing (sometimes he does) but he does snicker when raph and mikey make jokes about leo’s height. it’s funnier for him because he’s been the tallest out of all of them since day one.
MORE ABOUT DONNIE
and yessss i loved designing donnie! since he was tall everything about his design had to compensate for his height so i figured long mask tails and a long lab coat would do the trick. his brothers were concerned over him tripping on his mask tails but he hasn’t, not even ONCE. he is one graceful, careful boy. he braids it or ties it into a bow whenever he does lab work so it doesn’t accidentally slip into one of his chemicals somehow. sometimes he lets mikey do it for him :)

I have this au/thought in my head for WEEKS.
I don't know how to explain this, but basically, when Pickle was found in America, coincidentally, another ancient living being was found inside a rock in Japan! So once the rock cracks, they release Oni Y/N in the same containment as Pickle, however, this makes the scientists wonder if other so called "mythical creatures" existed wayyy back in the period where people in Japan hunted these mythical creatures or believed in them, and that history or those stories are indeed real
Oni Y/N is basically younger than pickle (she's not from the Jurrasic era) but she acts much more mature than him and completely uninterested in fighting
The scientists couldn't tell if Oni Y/N is a man or female, however based on how Pickle acts around her, they're going to guess that the Oni is a woman
Oni Y/N is just as tall as Pickle, possibly a bit taller, standing at 8'8
I don't want to describe too much about her looks, but I imagine her wearing a mask that is connected to a fake wig, along with long ass clothes and sleeves, and none of those shows her figure, one of the reason why they couldn't figure out her gender in the first place is because the second she got released from that damned rock, she got up quickly so they didn't have the chance to atleast examine her thoroughly

I’m going to hope that the oni you imagined is depicted in the traditional way, because that’s the immediate thought I had when reading your idea. Japanese oni is one of my favorite things to draw, so before I could plan any text I begun a rough doodle of Reader instead. Although without the robes or mask, so we can get a proper glimpse at the giant demoness.
To add to your story, I suspect Yuujirou would also be very much interested in a powerful, mythical creature that has been brought back to life and could easily crush any opponent with little effort. I’d be tempted to go for a harem ending but I doubt Yuujirou is willing to share. Then again, does he have a choice? One knows better than to incur the wrath of the original Ogre.

i humbly request some of your jackienat thoughts at this time
I am humbly providing many many days after you asked!
Jackienat in canon: god I’ve talked about them at length before but there two as individuals are my little sweetie snookums lovebug angels (I love all the yellowjackets but god god god I love them); they are the two girls who I believe are the most invested in the team as a whole. I think they would’ve been amazing co-captains side note (not me suddenly considering writing a short little au something about them being captains together GOD). I don’t really understand why people come to the conclusion that they hated each other. I DEFINITELY don’t get why people come to the conclusion that they hated each other PRE crash, because there’s nothing negative show between them when we DO see other girls be bitchy to Nat and make fun of Jackie’s earnestness, but it’s never these two against each other. Nat is very vocally anti freeze her out, everyone knows innately that Jackie would be without even asking. I’ve spoken about their fight at length before, so without getting too far into that I will just say I think the way it escalates and gets so emotional and personal is very very telling. I don’t think they’ve fought before, Nat is clearly more emotional than when the other girls are cruel to her which I think means she didn’t expect it from Jackie, Nat hits back with a threat/fights back instead of brushing it off like she usually does. I think it’s fucking tragic that they fought and never got to reconcile, because they both are the type to hold guilt and sadness over that shit. Them teaming up at doomcoming against the crazy, the way Jackie would’ve lived if Nat were home for her and Shauna’s fight, the eulogy Nat gives Jackie when she takes her bones to the plane. They are just tragic and beautiful and we’re robbed of the chance to be truly close friends, because I really do think that’s the trajectory they were on.

Jackienat romantically: I love it so much. I am a jackieshauna and lottienat at heart (clearly lmao) but I LOVE them as a stop on the way to those endgames. I think they’d be surprisingly soft and sweet as a pairing and I think that they’d be able to help each other through the ummmm tougher times of shauna and lottie’s less than ideal behaviors lol. (I LOVE BOTH SHAUNA AND LOTTIE DEEPLY but they have some very rough tendencies that would be hard as their partner and I think some commitment issues/stumbling blocks to get to a healthy (healthy for yj) relationship status, just objectively lmao). for au’s i do have a few that have crossed my mind recently, im sure i can do more that this if i put my mind to it
so i had this idea i scrapped before i even wrote the ferrars! reader hcs and basically its a tangled inspired au (ik super ironic bc kenji is the one tangled obsessed)
reader was hidden away at a young age because of her powers and the restablishment uses them to control the word (like how they utilized emmaline basically) so you live in this secluded tower away from sector 45
so aaron is finds you accidentally when he’s on a mission and he gets separated from his soldiers for a bit and sees the tower
then he climbs up and scares you so you hit him with a pan (LOL) and then you explain that you lived there forever but leave out your gift
aaron reintroduces you to the world and secretly keeps you at the base to hide you from his father (once he learns about what you can do)
then for your birthday he takes you to a festival thing but then your both caught by aarons dad
the rest isnt that planned out but rough synopsis of my idea
and then i often think more abt aaron and reader in present times like
imagine reader and aaron going to the met gala (aaron is ur stylist no one tell me otherwise)
or just any red carpet event, you both tend to match

you feel bad and offer aaron anything to let ypu repay him in some way, so he bargains that you let him take you to places and basically date him.
so that starts your arrangement.
buys you quite literally anything — even if you dont say you want it. if you glance at it in a store, you’ll see it on your bed the next day.
you even get to move into his apartment because he hates the idea of you in those ugly small dorms, and i’ll be easier for you both to see each other. (he’s clingy)
you go with him at any event, he literally never went to any before he started seeing you now he wants to take you everywhere in pretty dresses
even when your officially dating he won’t stop buying you things, if anything it doubles.
this ones dark so TW but with the the hype of the scream movies going around it got me imagining ghostface! aaron warner working with ghost face! kenji (i imagine this set in the 90s type era bc 1st scream is so iconic)
in this au aaron’s abusive childhood enabled him to have psychopathic tendencies so he starts off with random killings then later gets into the ghostface thing after wanting to get revenge on juliette for cheating on him with adam.
aaron enlists kenji because kenji’s the one that figure out it was him, but he’s doesn’t want him to turn aaron in, he wants to help. but kenji is kind of easy to manipulate so aaron is the master mind.
aaron makes the calls and kenji does most of the killing.
aaron and you are already dating when the killings start happening
you were originally meant to be killed bc you’re bffs with juliette but then aaron fell in love with you so now he protects you (#couplegoals)
if anyone messes with you or a guy gets too close with you, they’re gone. if a person is involved with you then aaron is likely to kill, especially if he already doesn’t like them
adam is the first to go (LMAOO), then its brendan, ian, nazeera (queen was a fighter im sorry
your so oblivious to it all and very scared that ghostface going after you next. and aaron thinks that’s so cute. so much that he calls your house as ghostface just so you can call him all scared and run into his arms for protection.
and if you somehow figure it out he’s just going to kidnap you and lock you somewhere you can’t escape and leave him <3 (i’m insane for wanting that)

Honestly, it makes sense for a Blue Lock Darling to be drugged with aphrodisiac before there’s any kind of action, unless it’s specifically requested otherwise. Whether she’s taking care of one guy or the entire team, the BL staff just wants to make sure things go smoothly.
Reo would be over the moon if his Darling is already squirming and panting by the time he gets into their private room, still sweaty and high on adrenaline from the game they just won. He’s sure to torment her about it, but not tease her to much cause he wants to be inside her so bad. He might allow Nagi to watch or use her mouth, but the coochie is for him only.
