Has anyone else ever felt weird when your hair wasn’t up in a bun or ponytail? I’ve realized now that for me it’s because having my hair down meant being feminine, and being feminine is being vulnerable. I’ve never felt confident in my femininity and maybe that’s why I’d always try so hard to hide it…like dressing more tomboyish and never wearing my hair down.

As a child I was told I was mature and applauded for my reading level and how responsible I was. Always trying to be the perfect child, reading people's faces to change what I am to make them happy. I thought that I had to make them happy or I would break. I guess I was the golden child on my siblings eyes. They always thought that I had the perfect grades, that I never messed up or made mistakes, that I was a favorite. But that's because that's what I projected. I cannot remember a time where I was myself, a time where I could make mistakes and cry. Because I saw what happened to others when they did, so I learned how to not cause trouble. Not be the sad one or loud one. My eldest brother was always sensitive, always emotional. I saw my family talk about him, my parents gave him more attention while my other oldest brother and I stood back and watched because we were the steady ones. I saw how my mom hurt for my brother and vice versa. So I learned to cry quietly, how to hide my tears and not shout in pain. Being the only girl for a long time no one would play with me or pay attention beyond what caring or happiness I could give them. So I read. I escaped into words. If I stayed busy and focused on other things than I wouldn't have to deal with things. I never got to have a childhood, or make mistakes and memories as I was always too terrified of my parents disappointment and being talked about in hushed voices. Of falling off my pedestal. By time I was 6 I had a younger brother who I babied, setting a precedent that I wish I hadn't. At 12 my parents were fighting, and I had a new sisters. Finally. I raised her. My parents were too busy with bills and money and emotions so I tried. I used to have to babysit every day. I couldn't go out and hang with friends, I became known for being flaky and busy. I lost friends. I became my mother's therapist. I became my father's as well. I lost myself somewhere between then. I guess this whole ramble is about how frustrating it is that my brothers think that I am the golden child. When I was always jealous about their freedom. Now at 21 and still at home I feel empty. I used to care so much and do a lot. Now I barely have enough energy to care about anything and go with the flow. Nothing sticks or is permanent.

[ID in ALT] I've made posts before about Talia/Dick co-parenting Damian moments (will never happen but let me dream) and this came to me in a vision. Took me ages to finish for some reason 😭 and then even longer to post
#dc comics#dc#damian wayne#dick grayson#talia al ghul#batfamily#dc robin#nightwing#anyway. yes im a self-indulgent ''dick as damians secret third parent'' truther#like i DO think it's way more complex and nuanced than the schmoopy affectionate fan portrayal of it#they're brothers they're father and son they're partners they're the dynamic duo except only in past tense etc etc#but consider! I'm not immune to schmoopy affection in fanworks. it compells me despite itself#anyway it's technically not that crazy when it comes to dick and damian. they hug! often! at least they did#it's not as big a leap to these types of scenarios#also talia ''somewhat absent for complex reasons on both her and damians part but very loving and loved by her son'' al ghul#you will always be famous to me#son of the demon origin...bwahhh#anyway. someone made a comic kind of like this/like a post i made abt this topic#but way funnier bc dick and talia starting trying to beat each other up#so go look at that as well#anyway. it's been a somewhat difficult few weeks so I'm. desperately trying to take it easy#i got some reading with me (first vol of kevin smiths GA run that i found second hand and jaimes BB run vol 2!)#so we'll see how far i get through those. considering there's demons in my head telling me to re-read things (LET ME OUT!!!)#when i finish GA and BB i do plan on rereading robin 2021. as a treat to myself#it's a run I've really warmed up to as time went on#I'm keeping up w/ the current b&r run even though it is. admittedly very slow w/ some weird dialogue#i read it for the damian content more than anything. also nikas back so that's neat :]#idk I have a feeling that after absolute power shakes out we might get some more creative team switch ups#so if anyone at dc is interested in taking over the reigns on b&r...that could be very neat#(it's me they should hire me. please DC i have ideas listen to my red hood pitch PLEASE-)

Young Justice is always a little...concerned. With Phantom's living situation. Now they're outright afraid for him, and Bart has decided it's time to Ask An Adult.
It was the little quips. The tiny little things. Stuff that didn't seem to matter to Phantom at all, or appeared to be normal for him, that he didn't realize weren't normal at all.
"Oh, better not hope my mom catches me." "Doing what, staying out past bedtime?" "Nah, using my powers; she'd vivisect me!"
"Another stab wound. Great." "Don't worry Phantom, I've got the med kit-" "Oh, I'm not a baby or anything, I can handle it just fine. Just gimme a sec to take it out."
"My dad has better aim than that." "...Like, when he's hunting, right?" "...At what other times would he be shooting at me?"
"Huh. Not as bad as my parents place. Look; they have a decontamination shower!" "Phantom, this lab has been vandalized to the point of needing a hazmat suit." "Did I stutter?"
Finding out each others identities did nothing to soothe the worry. Tim quietly told the others that every time he tried to run facial recognition, he kept hitting a government firewall he couldn't breach. Phantom never told them his last name, just his first, and 'Danny' is super common.
The thing that really did it though, the thing that made Bart snap and run off to ask Max, was when Danny had a nightmare.
He was talking in his sleep.
"No. Don't-stop. Stoooop. I need...my skin. Mom, no. You can't...peel off...my skin..."
Bart didn't even wait for them to wake Danny up before he was standing in front of Max, talking a mile a minute as he tried to figure out what to do, with Wally staring in horror over a plate of waffles as he computed everything that Bart was saying.
~~~~~~
Danny had a dream about his mom and Skulker arguing about how to skin him. He wouldn't really call it a nightmare, because it was just Skulker, but the scariest thing was Skulker insisting to his mom that it was possible to skin him with a potato peeler. Dream mom was arguing that it was not, and that from a scientific standpoint that was a really piss poor way to preserve a specimen.
He hadn't been begging them to stop hurting him, he'd been whining at them to knock it off.
But when he wakes up, it's to a room full of worried friends and an old man who calls himself Max.
"Kid, I think we need to talk."
My brain is unwilling to let go of Twin AU prompts. Sorry for the long post lmao.
Jazz and Jason are getting pretty serious in their relationship, and honestly, they’ve both been hesitant to introduce their family members to one another despite constantly talking about them. They’ve been dating since she started her doctoral studies at Gotham U and she’s about to defend her dissertation, so it really is about time. He saved her in her first week as the Red Hood and he immediately felt at home with her (something, something liminal), she runs into him the next day at a coffee shop and thanks him for taking the time to help her.
Identities are obviously blown. Jason knows that her brother works in ‘politics’ and her younger sister is a travel blogger, and that the three of them don’t talk to her mad scientist parents anymore. Jazz knows that he came back from the dead, his adoptive family had a slew of issues in addition to their hero-complexes and that he would be prepared to kill for any one of his siblings. Their communication skills are top notch.
But then came the issue of actually meeting the family. Like Jazz knows all of the drama between the siblings but could not pick them out of a line up, or more importantly, know who to talk to if an emergency situation came up. Jason agrees, that yeah, it would probably be for the best if he could at least identify her little brother and sister if they had to like, meet at hospital or something.
So that was the plan. Invite just siblings over to their shared apartment, no parents and no fuss. (She even called Danny ahead of time to tell him not to portal straight into the apartment, he needed to walk in the door like a normal person. They could share Ghost King secrets later.)
Tim arrives first, he’d been working a case nearby and Jazz & Jason live pretty close to a nice coffeeshop, so he stopped along the way. He’d done some creeping to figure out that she drinks Chai so he brought one for her. Creepy and yet, endearing.
Ellie comes in second from the window, launching into a story about how annoying it was to find the place with all the gloom, didn’t this city have any respect for the dead? Tim doesn’t get it but Jason is laughing along so Tim files it away for later.
Dick comes in with a shit ton of Pizza he panic ordered, a fruit bouquet and two bottles of wine from Bruce’s cellar. Duke came along with him, a large tupperware of Alfred’s cookies.
Then Steph, Babs and Cass show up, immediately treating Jazz like family while also being hella suspicious about the whole thing. She notices them looking at her hands and Jazz explains that no, they weren’t doing this because Jason proposed. Steph and Cass are annoyed at Jason but tell Jazz she could do better if she wanted. Babs is happy they aren’t rushing into anything (she’s the only one besides Tim that knows how long they’ve been dating- this is just to throw out a red herring for the others)
Everyone is getting along and having a great time, Ellie being a natural entertainer along side Dick, everyone trying to tell embarrassing stories about Jason. Loud noises are coming from the hallway when they realize that neither Damian nor Danny had arrived.
Rushing out the door, the boys are alternating putting each other into choke holds and arguing about not being clones. Danny keeps phasing out of Damian’s grip and Damian keeps pulling out more knives. The hallway looks like it had been blown up and the two are continuing to yell at one another about going to a family dinner. Jason and Jazz just stare at them from the doorway, and wouldn’t you know it, they look like fucking twins.
Jazz grabs Danny, Jason grabs Damian, and everyone is fucking confused. Both sides of the family can confirm growing up with the twins, that neither are a clone. Ellie helpfully supplies that she’s the clone and that opens a whole other bag of chaos.
Eventually they get everyone to sit down for dinner and the night gets weirder from there.
There’s a certain comfort in anger.
Letting go and forgiving is hard, you have to be vulnerable…open to the possibility of being hurt again.
Sometimes it’s just easier to keep the grudge and stay mad.
Jon Kent's imaginary friend.
Ghostwriter was in Smallville for a book signing that one of his favourite (currently alive) authors was at.
So of course he had to be there, he even had a human disguise and everything. He even told Phantom he was going on a mini vacation so that the Halfa wouldn't spoil his fun.
And fun he had.
He met his author and an another up and coming writer who was just starting out but had so much potential.
He now had five books that had just hit the shelves to add to his library.
It was a good day.
When he was about to leave the town he stumbled across a young child attempting to fly on their own.
Very badly.
At first he was confused.
Was this a newly formed ghost? If so, wouldn't the surrounding ghosts help them find their feet?
But the child didn't feel like any of his kind.
Another Halfa perhaps? No, the Ghost Zone would immediately know if another half-ghost popped into existence and they didn't feel the odd way Phantom did.
He had heard that some of the living had the ability to fly without dying first.
But where were the child's parents? Shouldn't they be supervising and assisting their first flight?
Ghostwriter winced as the child hit the ground for the eleventh time.
Surely it wouldn't hurt if he were to give some advice? Invisible of course, Phantom would be displeased if he brought outside attention to their own small town.
And with that, Ghostwriter spent his afternoon teaching a young boy how to fly safely (which was harder than normal considering the child couldn't phase through any dangerous obstacles)
At least until the boy's parents picked him up.
Ghostwriter may have also promised to visit the next day.
Clark and Louis thought that Jon having an imaginary friend was cute.
It was a little weird that the imaginary friend picked apart every piece of writing in the house, but Jon was the son of journalists so he was bound to opinions about literature.
It wasn't til Jon said "Ghosty said that dying hurts and that I shouldn't do it for a long time." That they started getting worried.
