#there are canon asexual characters in other fandoms and they don't deserve them
I need to get it out of my chest so here's some Striker theories/speculations fandom has come up with that I heavily dislike and why.
Tumblr media
Striker has some royalty blood from one parent or both.
Oh God that would suck so much if it became canon cause it absolutely defeats the purpose of his character so far, that of being a lower class imp hating royals with valid reasons even if his actions are violent and sadistic.
As he is he has such an interesting antagonistic role in the story and offers a bunch of good lines directly opposing and questioning the heroes values, choices and morality.
His mere presence and open bashing of the upper class is just good social commentary! If his hatred stems from a combination of his narcissistic nature and bitterness that being born an imp (even mixed or hybrid) robs him from ascending further into the social ladder or even if he survived a traumatic encounter with a royal as its implied and it's fuelled by anger or a combo of all those things all are good for telling a compelling story! All can be done in very interesting ways!
Tumblr media
But making him yet another character tied closer to royalty than just being a random person that got screwed over is honestly an underwhelming concept.
Getting screwed over for no good or justified reason should be common with Hell's racist and classist system as its been presented so far and we should get confirmation of that instead of having Striker added to the trend of each of the main characters having special connections with higher ups. It's not only redundant at this point but would make his motivation and social commentary that much weaker.
I swear if it just becomes another daddy or mommy issue imma rage quit so fast!
Striker is half shark demon
His sound design is explicitly constantly emulating the noises a rattlesnake makes. Since he's most likely a hybrid and he says to Blitzo how they are "superior to most of our kind" he's definitely part imp. So we got two halves and we got snake demon and imp, so it's basically covered? lol I don't know how this theory became so popular😅
He doesn't even look close to the design of the other sharks
Tumblr media
he only looks like Chaz a little bit.
And lots of characters share similar characteristics like that snout.
This one had some merit with the ringed eyes and imma be real I haven't noticed those elsewhere but like even if he had a grandpa shark what purpose would that serve?
Bah I just don't like it. Let the man be a slimy snake! Its more unique and it suits him better!
Striker is asexual cause he got grossed out by sex jokes
No...just no..
To be clear you could totally read him as asexual! But the reason being the damn sex jokes is giving me whiplash. Striker got flustered and frustrated at best cause the timing of each sex joke was inappropriate as all hell and cause everyone did it as he tried to be intimidating and threaten/kill them. If anything they were bruises to his ego not any indication to his libido.
Tumblr media
But like... In all seriousness asexual confirmation deserves more than a reaction to sex jokes.
Hellaverse does it better with Alastor. In his case it does tie in with his sexuality.
Same goes with all the theories that he's homophobic too.
He did the sexy villain thing trying to seduce Blitzo like so explicitly and smiled when Blitzo called it hot then! What are you talking about?
Tumblr media
Different situation, more receptive to sexual undertones and instigating them too. That's what I'm trying to say!
And again. Asexual reading can apply. But it can't be just the sex jokes alright?!😭
(yeah yeah it's a joke on itself. still valid I get it.)
Striker is related to Crimson and Moxxie.
Oh this one is the worst one and absolutely gives me a heart attack and thank goodness for the crew's soft confirmation that they aren't via strixxie fanart cause no joke I'd cry since its my favourite ship!
It's just similar horns!!! Striker was designed as a mix between Moxxie and Blitzo and that's the only reason why!
Striker also had sexual tension with Blitzo on screen are you gonna tell me they are related too cause he was designed with half of him in mind?
I hate this theory so much.
Granted purely for shipping reasons but holy shit it got popular and I hated that!
I've had enough with turning every ship into potential incest just cause and harassing fans over it!
Got such "Fizz and Blitzo are siblings" deja vu😬
Ahem...
Anyways yeah that's all.
To end it more positively I love the snake man! Didn't spot him on the trailer but still hope we see him in the upcoming episodes🥺
Preferably doing shit like this and traumatizing everyone lmao! (with no godawful statue jokes in sight thank you very much)

all I'm going to say to the collective TMA fandom tonight is a large, unironic THANK YOU for being normal about Jon's asexuality. By "normal" I mean openly portraying and embracing ace-ness in each and every flavor. Creator after creator in this fandom has their own unique interpretation of Jon's sexuality, and I truly, legitimately feel that this group has created one of the most nuanced and healthy environments for discussing different kinds of attraction

I'm really tired of seeing people use the "AroAce is a spectrum" argument when it comes to Alastor, especially now that the show is getting more popular. I just want to talk it about it a bit, since y'know, I'm AroAce and have a lot of opinions on it.
For reference, I've been a on and off fan on Hazbin Hotel for a long time. The pilot came out around the time I was in middle school and it was a large part of my personality for my younger years. Obviously I fell off it as I got older, but my point still stands.
Alastor was the first time I ever saw a canon AroAce character (that I knew off, I wasn't aware peridot was AroAce), and It was amazing for me. I never got to see myself be represented in a show like that, and even if he wasn't explicitly AroAce, having the creator say he was was amazing, since a lot of the AroAce characters at the time were just popular headcanons.
So you could understand my disappointment when I'd go into fandom spaces and see him be shipped with other characters, be drawn in suggestive ways, and overall his canon sexuality be ignored. Now before you comment and say "Well, Aromanticism and Asexuality are spectrums, so there's a chance he's romance and sex favorable" I want to ask you a genuine question.
Do you think that Alastor is romance and sex favorable because in the show, pilot, or any other official media he is depicted to be that way? OR, do you just think he's romance and sex favorable because it gives you an excuse to write fanfic of him where he's in romantic and sexual relationships?
I have a feeling a lot of you believe it's the second one, but would never admit it. I haven't watched the pilot in a while, but after watching through the show, there hasn't been a single point where he is shown to be romance or sex favorable. Nothing hints to that or points to that in any way.
Because ultimately this isn't about making sure you are representing his character correctly, this is about you guys disillusioning yourself into believing he's romance and sex favorable to that you guys can put him as close to allonormativity without being called out for it. You do not care about real life AroAce people who are romance and sex favorable, you care about your own comfort. And it's easier to imagine Alastor as romance and sex favorable when in reality, he's only been depicted as the exact opposite.
Do you know how I know most of ya'll don't care about real life sex and romance favorable AroAce people? Because AroAce discourse is never ending on this platform. Not too long ago there was a poll going around that had people arguing on whether or not cishet Aromantic men were valid. Aromantic people are constantly villainized and treated like monsters for having consensual loveless relationships. Asexual people constantly have their own experienced denied to their faces, and are told time and time again that they don't actually exist. AroAce people are constantly having to prove that they deserve to be in the LGBTQ+ community, and every few months there is some stupid fucking person who created discourse about a what type of AroAce gets to be in the community, just to divide us and make us feel like shit. And you know what?
You don't care.
You completely ignore or are oblivious to real life discourse surrounding the identity you claim to be an expert on. You ignore real life AroAce people who tell you you're wrong, all while going to war over your right erase an identity you really know nothing about. You would never go this hard for real life sex and romance favorable AroAce people who are constantly told they don't exist, they don't belong in the community that supposed to except them, and that they are either mentally ill or damaged. You don't care about real life AroAce people, because unless they're Tumblr sexy men, they don't matter to you.
I acknowledge that romance and sex favorable AroAce people don't get represented enough, but at some point you have to acknowledge that it less about accurately representing the character, and more about changing characters who are canonically sex/romance repulsed so that allonormative people can be more comfortable with them. If you're someone who's AroAce, and you whole heartedly believe he's romance and sex favorable, good for you, I'm not gonna argue with you.
But if you are not AroAce, and you believe he's romance and sex favorable, I want you to reevaluate why that is. I'm not saying you can't ship him, or write your fanfic, or draw your art. I'm not the police. But please try and see it from a point of view of someone other than your own. Please try and understand why taking one of the very few canonically AroAce characters and weaponizing our own identity against us so you can justify the continuous eraser of said identity is kinda annoying.
Also please don't get heated in the comments, at the end of the day this is about a fictional cannibal, I just have too many opinions.

[Context]
Ok @fluffydice, sorry for the lateness on this one but as anyone following this blog for over 5 minutes probably knows, I think Aiura x Saiki x Akechi makes so much sense and it is insanely compelling to me. I've posted so much fanfic about it already and that's only like 20% of the Thoughts™ I've had about them tbh.
But when you're doing an analysis of a triad, you have to breakdown 3 different ships and also how they would work simultaneously, so I needed time to write it all up. Buckle in!
Let's talk about Saiki x Aiura first since they had the most screen time together and they're the most "canon". I was genuinely shocked to see how rare this pairing is in fandom when they're literally canonically soulmates and also actually prove it on their every interaction.
Tumblr media
From their very first meeting, Aiura and Saiki work together flawlessly to save Yumehara's life many times in a row + the life of the truck driver. Aiura then figures out how to hang out with Saiki without having to deal with his tsundere rejection, which he can leave at any time (unlike with Teruhashi) because she knows about his powers and won't stir up trouble if he leaves. Saiki keeps allowing her to schedule 1:1 dates and is basically like "don't bother asking me, you know I'll go" about the dessert buffet date lol.
Even when they disagree and neither of them will back down, they still work wonderfully together and they both end up learning and growing from it. Saiki trusts Aiura to help him, and Aiura always agrees to help him just because she cares. That's HUGE considering how hard it is for Saiki to ask for literally anything!!
Aiura also respects Saiki's boundaries more than anyone else imo. She only joins him when he's out in public, she tries her usual heavy-handed flirting at first but quickly adjusts when she realizes he's not into it, she puts her clothes back on immediately after realizing that she misunderstood the situation, she starts asking him out instead of just joining him, she asks for a kiss and respects his "no", and she hugs him anyways because they both really need it after the stress of the day.
And Saiki responds to that, opening up more with Aiura than he has with anyone else in way less time. Aiura had under 2 years with Saiki while Saiki's core friend group had like 6 years, and yeah, she benefited some from his character growth over the past 4 years. But still, the way he banters with her shows how comfortable he is– he's more open with her than with anybody else, and not just with his annoyance like he is with Toritsuka lmao.
Also, come ON, there's just no one more deserving of an epic husband/wife local god with transformation powers than Aiura. She works so hard with her powers to help everyone and convinces Saiki to help others more and she helps him get the best outcomes for everyone. Let her get her hands on her soulmate who can make her bi dreams come true, who can give her third eye a break from constantly seeing auras and death marks, who can grow big fluffy wings to hug her with, etc etc etc!!!!! LET HER HAVE SOME FUN FFS!!
There's wayyyy more people forcing Aiura into the platonic bucket with Saiki than I've seen with Teruhashi (even though Aiura has way better chemistry with Saiki), which forces me to wonder whether it's because Aiura is more overtly sexual and "lowbrow" than Teruhashi, showing more cleavage, getting bad grades, putting stickers on her face because they're cute, showing pride in her sexual escapades. None of those make her a bad person, but a lot of people seem to think it does.
Some people more reasonably point out that if Saiki is very asexual and Aiura has a high libido then that could cause trouble for them. Well, first of all, while Saiki is pretty much obviously somewhere in the asexual and aromantic spectrum, his belief that boyfriend is the next level after best friend shows that demiromantic / demisexual is a strong possibility for him. And honestly I'd argue that whatever he has going on with Satou is at least partially sexual, though I'm not going to get into that in this already long-ass post lol.
But basically, I think there's a lot of room for a demiromantic and graysexual interpretation of Saiki and considering that Aiura has apparently stopped going out with other men for at least 2 years with no ill effects that we can see, it's quite possible that they'll be very compatible in bed after all. And if not, that's where consensual non-monogamy comes in lol. But genuinely I think that the fact that they're soulmates means that there probably aren't any major incompatibilities between them, otherwise the term would be meaningless.
So yeah, makes sense and really compelling because there's so much room for stories on how they actually got together, how they work together as their powers continue growing, and what their future looks like!
OKAY, now it's time for the Saikechi essay lol.
Tumblr media
Actually, I don't think Saikechi needs a ton of justification, because it's kinda standard extrovert x introvert childhood friends to lovers lol. Saikechi only isn't more popular because Akechi appears for like 5 whole minutes in the undubbed second season of the anime and he was annoying for 90% of that time hsfjdlshfks rip.
But yeah, Akechi and Saiki are quite perfect together, as shown by the horse gambling episode. Akechi can see right through Saiki's tsundere facade and Akechi is extremely open about his wants and needs, which is important since Saiki can't properly understand his thoughts most of the time and is very bad at figuring that stuff out even with telepathy.
They're both some flavor of ace. Akechi offu's at Teruhashi and comments that she's the most beautiful women he's ever seen, but does not express wanting to date her, which is big ace vibes, plus he's one of the few characters that doesn't have anything to say about Aiura's boobs lol (even Teruhashi can't shut up about them). They're also similar flavors of highly intelligent + neurodivergent. Consider Akechi's analysis skills vs Saiki's ability to come up with dozens, if not hundreds of plans in extremely short notice.
Akechi is also great at making accommodations for Saiki's powers, even without knowing about all of them, and coming up with activities they can do together that will be equally fun and challenging for both of them! And I still love that it was Akechi showing Saiki what a fun low-stakes game can be like that basically repaired Kusuo's relationship with his brother (see: manga, as this was cut from the anime 😩).
It's a very nice and straightforward ship that still leaves a lot of room for fun stories. I've been dying to write a Saikechi frogboil (plotted but needs writing) just because Akechi would be so perfect at it and he would be very likely to approach Saiki that way to get around all the tsundere bullshit lol.
OKAY, now for the third leg of the triangle lol, Aiura and Akechi!!
Tumblr media
(couldn't find an anime gif of this moment which is SO SAD)
Let's be real, Akechi and Aiura only share 5 moments on screen: the intro with all the chibis, when Aiura checks out his aura, when Aiura & Toritsuka kidnap him, the competition to find Saiki's hanky, and Akechi pestering Aiura about dress code violations in the every-character-appears episode. And 3 of those scenes are from the same chapter lmao.
Tumblr media
Actually I think this ⬆️ scene is kinda cute because Akechi's teasing Aiura lol, I think he's being friendly in his little freak way <3
HOWEVER, if shipping was only about what we saw on screen, then it would be way more boring. So let's think about it!
Aiura and Akechi actually share a lot of similarities: they're both extroverts, they're both incomprehensible, they are both almost immune to lies, they have both have a drive to help other people including strangers, and they're both seeking someone who will love and understand them as they are.
They would just make a really great fit! Akechi could help with Aiura's fortune-telling by prompting better questions for her to ask, and Aiura might actually make Akechi's mystery-solving TOO easy, so she probably holds back on that one lol. Akechi would throw himself wholeheartedly into working against a death mark on a stranger.
They're so fun to think about too because neither of them is embarrassed easily at all and they're both completely in touch with their own feelings so they are going to be SO lovey-dovey, no matter how cringe it seems on the outside lmao.
Akechi seems like he'd love doing traditional courtship if given half the chance, and Aiura seems like she's mostly had one-night-stand kind of situations until now, so what a perfect opportunity to indulge! What a change for Aiura to date someone who respects her and isn't just after her body! What a change for Akechi to date someone who actually wants to hear what he has to say and isn't put off by his frankness around taboo topics!
They'd pick up phrases from each other and develop so many ridiculous in-jokes that become their own sort of language, which makes them both even more incomprehensible.
We do also run into the allosexual x asexual problem here but Akechi is so unbothered by bodily functions and so quick to find compromises and enrichment that I genuinely think he'd kind of turn that into a game lmao.
And I think Akechi would be down to start a family and give his kid(s) the kind of loving home he never really got to enjoy with his parents' ongoing domestic turmoil. And their kid(s) would be sooooooooo incomprehensible, bless. 🙏🏾 Raised by 1.5 psychic parents and sprinkling both terminally online lingo and academia-level terminology into their speech from day 1. Imagine...
So Aikechi definitely gets the A+ on making sense and being compelling here!
Which FINALLY brings us back around to the main question... Does Aiura x Saiki x Akechi make sense, and is it compelling?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, obviously I think so, since I've posted so much about it lol.
I think the main question for the viability of this ship is whether Saiki would be comfortable with polyamory, since Aiura and Akechi are unconcerned enough with social norms that they'd probably have no problem with it.
After some time getting used to the thought that he will never have the veneer of normal he's always wanted to project and that the pleasures of living authentically far outweigh the pains of being different, I think Saiki would actually love having his best friends as lovers and not having to choose only one person.
After all, most of his struggle is about lack of connection and his alienation from humanity. Well, here are Akechi and Aiura, who respectively mirror his lonely childhood and growing up with uncontrollable powers. They're both clever enough to see through his tsundere bullshit, they're both happy and able to help him with his powers & duties to save others, and they will both stand up to him if he's wrong or letting something slide to avoid conflict.
They're both perfect for him! And Akechi and Aiura would be much happier sharing him than trying to make him choose between them since they also get along so well. And let's be real, Saiki definitely deserves to be loved by the two people who know him the best. 💜
There's also a lot of story potential for how this ends up happening. In Extra Love Stories of Psychics, Saikechi and Saiura are basically happening in parallel and the Aikechi will close in the loop in a few chapters. But in Didn't see this one coming, I wanted to focus on Aikechi, so they get together and are basically ready for Saiki to finish his character growth and join whenever lmao.
You could also have them as like a hero team of lovers if you want more action-y plots, though tbh it's really hard to come up with situations they wouldn't immediately solve lol rip.
Another nice thing about Aiura, Akechi and Saiki being together is that Aiura and Akechi get a chance to help each other overcome some of Saiki's limitations, and the stuff they can't work around, Akechi and Aiura can do together.
An easy example is hand-holding. Changing Saiki's gloves to another texture is all well and good but sometimes you want to touch skin to skin, and it's much more overwhelming than calming for Saiki to do that. Akechi and Aiura can hold each other's hands without gloves though, and while it's not the same as holding Saiki's, it helps a lot to fulfill that desire.
Also, it's almost impossible for Aiura to surprise Saiki because he can read her thoughts, but while Akechi can probably figure out that she's planning something in general, she would have a much easier time surprising him. And similarly, since Saiki can't properly read Akechi's mind and doesn't have too much emotional intelligence, Akechi has to openly communicate his needs with Saiki all the time, which isn't a problem for him. But it's really nice when Aiura can tell from his aura or from her own emotional intelligence what Akechi wants/needs without having to explain himself. And even if Saiki can literally hear Aiura's thoughts, Akechi is still better at responding to her feelings because he's not tsundere and he actually understands feelings and what to do about them.
Additionally, Aiura has said she wants to be a mother, and while Saiki's affection for kids indicates to me that he wouldn't mind having kids, I think that he would be VERY opposed to passing on his genes due to how much trouble his powers have caused him. And Aiura's genes also are probably loaded with psychic powers! But if Akechi is there, then he can knock up Aiura no problem since he doesn't seem to have any psychic powers, and then the three of them can have their own family <3 Plus all the shenanigans that comes with having 2.5 psychics (and maybe more!) under one roof!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion, they're perfect, your honor!!
Also I probably should've been writing more fic of them instead of writing this novel XD XD
Thanks for the ask!!

Ace/Aro Identities in Media and Fandom
Alrighty I am jumping on the choo choo train of discussing this topic because OH BOY do I have little big thoughts. As someone who identifies as both asexual and aromanitic I would like to say that that is the perspective I am speaking from. I experience no sexual or romantic attraction and while being open to being in a queer platonic relationship sex would never be a part of it and neither would many aspects of romance. All the words after the cut!
Now to the fun and funky part!! OH MY GOD laddies, lassies, lairds please when something is canonized respect that. You know the joy you felt when your identity was seen on screen for the first time and you felt seen and heard? It's the same for me and for many who identify similarly. Those are big steps in inclusion and allow a lot of people to understand themselves sooner and with less stress and fear. Representation is IMPORTANT regardless of if it's something you identify with or not. Because when it comes to be your turn to see yourself in something I would hope everyone affords you the same courtesy to allow you that joy. Now on to talking about wronguns. As much as I wish to give everyone the benefit of the doubt I have seen aspec people pushed down the metaphorical stairs more times than I can count. This isn't to compare to other identities this is not the oppression olympics and nor will it ever be frankly we're all in this together to create a better world for all of us. If you are comfortable with ignoring ace/aro identities when it comes to shipping and speaking about their character but WOULD NOT do so for other identities that is something that you should deeply think about. In addition to this every person is allowed to experience their identity differently. Some asexual people have sex, some aromantic people date etc. etc. but that doesn't mean that can be taken and applied to every person to make them more palpable for the masses. Some people DON'T want to have sex or be in relationships and that is something that should also be respected. People need to understand that using the "oh well some people are ok with those things!!" is not the win you think it is. Because also some people ARE NOT and that is a core part of who they are and is not something that can be changed. Do better to understand both sides of this coin and if the creators and character in the media has stated that they are ace/aro work to understand that. To the Ace/Aro people and the people who got this far congratulations! I wrote lots of words in a fit of thoughts to place on my little blog and sometimes that is hard to read so thank you! To the aspec crew particularly you are all so incredibly wonderful where ever you fall and you deserve to see yourself in media without it being ignored and pushed aside! I genuinely am so happy to be able to be a part of the community and hope to be able to see so much more of us in the future.

Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under Cut
Christine Canigula
This has enraged me for YEARS. She is constantly sidelined in the fandom in favor of the main m/m ship which itself its fine but the way people treat her drives me NUTS. When I actually was in the fandom, Consistently! her crush on the main character which is a CENTRAL fucking plot point is just explained away to make room for yaoi. If they even have that kind of decency. Like 99% of the fics just say "oh! she's a lesbian actually totally this was comphet im not a misogynist" or "she's Actually Aroace" and not ponder on the optics of sanitizing the CANON fucking attraction of a chubby easian girl. It's sososo transparent and another fucking example of she's actually the Mom friend! or other annoying racist and misogynistic tropes.
She likes play rehearsal. She's the love interest of the main character, Jeremy. Jeremy also has a best friend, Michael, whom he's usually shipped with. And since she's the canonical love interest and as such often gets in the way of their beloved ship. They are very creative in finding the ways to get rid of her to ship Michael with Jeremy, ranging from making her asexual(because ace people can't date apparently), completely kicking her out of the last two songs of the musical and putting Michael in her place, to vilifying her and claiming she was never interested in Jeremy in the first place, despite musical explicitly saying the opposite.
Love interest of the main character Jeremy Heere and therefore stands in the way of the fandom's most popular ship, boyf reinds. Being specifically a love interest we don't get. A whole lot of her but she's fun! She's a theatre kid. She is silly and goofy. Also has a one off line in one of the songs that mentions she has ADD. Idk what I'm supposed to say really and I'm always bad at talking about characters so.
Yennefer
Constantly villainized because one way or another she gets in the way of a MLM ship (though at least one of them would probably be fine with a poly relationship). In the show version of her, her love interest bound her to him via magic, never told her until someone else brought it up despite it the bond causing them to meet over and over, her love interest didn’t understand why this upset her and brushed it off and still has never apologized for it because apparently it was the only way to save her life, she had better chemistry with Jaskier (the other half of the MLM ship) and had a semi-decent rivals to frenemies thing going on, the show took away her powers (which never happened in the books) to have her go on a pointless quest to get them back that worsened her relationship with her love interest because they had her try to kill her love interest’s adopted child (which now justifies why he doesn’t need to apologize of course), and all of that was after she’d already had an arc regarding sacrifice and how power wasn’t really what she wanted.
she's an incredibly powerful mage and drop dead gorgeous and deserved so much better!!! justice for yen
God forbid women do anything. She either gets hate or is ignored, really classic stuff. And she's Geralt's gf but you know, *gestures at geraskier*

who wants to hear me rant about how fandoms treat asexuality and aromanticism for a bit?
To me, it seems like there is no place where amatonormativity is more rampant than shipping spaces. And it's infuriating.
The way many fandoms treat lgbtq+ characters is sketchy at best - there are several instances of explicitly gay characters being shipped in straight relationships, and other such invalidation of sexualities, but that is a wider issue that I won't go into here, because my main issue is the complete eradication of aspec identities.
Aro and ace representation is rare. Good aro and ace representation is even rarer. And I know what you might be thinking. So is gay and lesbian representation! So is pan and bi and polyam representation! But here's the thing. If fans don't like the overwhelming straightness of characters in canon media, they will fix it for themselves in fanon. They will put straight characters in gay relationships. They will put characters who have no canon love interest in relationships (gay or otherwise).
And this is where the problem lies.
In a society where romantic relationships are valued over nearly everything else, it's rare and exhilarating to find characters who aren't in relationships, whether they are explicitly stated to be aro/acespec or not (which is even more rare). And fans invariably take those characters and ship them with other characters, because heaven forbid a character be happy without a romantic partner who will 'complete' them!! /s
It is obvious that to most people, queer representation in media/fandom is important... until it comes to aspec identities. Because the allos don't seem to give a shit about us and it fills me with rage. We deserve to be included in those spaces, and we deserve to have our identities respected in the same way that gay/lesbian/mspec identities are.
And there will always be queer people who say "oh, well if they've not got a canon love interest it's okay... that's not aphobic... if you tell us we're not allowed to have those ships, that's erasing our identities" and yes of course if it's not canon aromanticism there is nothing *strictly* wrong with shipping those characters but just. just have a think for a minute. If you are so openly eager to ship those characters, and you get so outwardly upset when you can't, what message is that giving to aspec people? you're telling us that unless there is a 'valid' reason not to, you think that being in a relationship is necessary, normal, the default state of things. You are upholding amatonormativity and yes, that is harmful.
And that doesn't only hurt aspec people!! not even allos are in relationships 100% of the time - when you're pushing this agenda, it is harmful to everyone. We need to de-normalise the need for relationships. Characters and people are allowed to be single and live fulfilling lives and not need to have a partner!!
thank you for reading my angry rambly rant i hope it makes sense and if you are allo and think i am being too harsh i do not care because i am fed up of you overlooking and outright excluding us <33
allos are welcome and encouraged to reblog but I would ask that you don't add on! aspecs I would love to hear your opinions, if you want to add anything to what ive said :)

Time for some kris-related trivia!
(Apologies for the long post. We'll put it under a cut so you don't have to keep scrolling on mobile. lol)
As someone who's always been sexually attracted to imagining fictional characters boning each other rather than actual people, we've always been tangentially aware of the idea behind thirst art. Even if we, personally, never saw the appeal.
It makes sense in theory; you like a character enough to maybe even want to bone them and thirst art can help you fantasize about it. (At least, that's what the vast majority of people seem to enjoy it for.)
But it was never something we could ever really understand even after mulling over it a lot over the years.
And then we discovered something known as aegosexuality, or, as sexuality.fandom broadly define it:
It is a subset of asexual defined as: a disconnect between oneself and a sexual target/object of arousal; may involve sexual fantasies or arousal in response to erotica or pornography, but lacks desire to be an actual participant in the sexual activities therein.
And it all kind of clicked. Because we most definitely have NEVER wanted to have sex with someone. Romance? Great! Cuddles and hugs and hand holding? Wonderful! Sex? Not Thank You. We'll stick with self-pleasure, you wanna date us and still have sex? You'd best be poly, too.
And then Marco the Phoenix came along.
Sure, we still don't want to have sex with him- even if he was real -but the fact still remains that we get it now. We finally understand the want/need for solo thirst art. And it's all thanks to Marco.
It's honestly pretty funny to think about. Because we turned thirty earlier this year and are only Just Now discovering The Character for us.
Our one true blorbo.
Marco the Phoenix.
And now we can safely say that, while we would most definitely prefer art and fic of Marco bottoming for Ace, we'll also take solo thirst art. Because that man DESERVES to be lusted over and pampered. Not just in canon but by the fandom.
Also, the man's just sexy af. Never been sexually attracted to guys, fictional or otherwise, but Marco?
Marco is special.

Hi! I'm too much of a coward to actually interract w/ the Dr Stone fandom but thank you for your Senku aroace HCs, they mean a lot to me heheh. I feel that I don't usually have a lot of opinions about sexuality HCs in fandoms but aroace!Senku is one of the HCs that made me reaaally warm and happy-- because of a lot of the things that you have stated before! I think this idea that Senku is able to have very robust, enriching, meaningful friendships and a robust, enriching, meaningful life without having to engage in sex/romance is def something that is very meaningful and heartening for a lot of us in the ace spectrum. And honestly after getting needlessly needled by other queer people about my own asexuality in pride monthTM, your HCs are just a very nice happy thing to have around :D Have a good day!
Aww thanks anon! It means a lot to me seeing these positive reactions towards Senku being AroAce as an AroAce myself too :D
Part of me always worries that there'll be some backlash "You're just projecting" type bs, but honestly? At the end of the day I don't care about the negative comments, seeing how many people just end up agreeing/ reacting positively!
Like it's hard to deny at this point, and it's not like Dr. Stone doesn't have other canon queer characters in the main cast like Ryusui as bi+ and Francois as gender nonconforming/non-binary (I hc them as intersex since the characters physically can't tell their gender, even as a naked stone statue lmao), so Senku being AroAce with all of the manga taken into account? Just as plausible and just as much deserving of attention and recognition!
Have a great day too, Anon :)

A, E, F, H, K, R, S, T, X, Z! Go wild <3
Mar I love you to death thank you <333
A - Ships that you currently like a lot: I'm currently obsessed with simarkus, reed900, and Hank and Connor's father-son familial relationship in DBH; also Ethan Winters' polycule (Heisenberg, Chris, and Mia) in Resident Evil.
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?: I don't think so? I mean I wrote a semi crack fic for DBH on tumblr a few months ago but idk if that counts cause it was technically only one paragraph of crack. Behind the scenes, however, I'm writing scripts for a crack Resident Evil short film and a crack Detroit: Become Human Brooklyn 99-esque show. Those won't greet the public for a long time though, if at all.
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?: Technically star wars has been a constant fandom since I was 6 thanks to my f*ther, but it's such a big franchise with so many different parts it's kinda like having fandoms within fandoms. I.e, I have my clone wars phases, my sequel trilogy phases, my mandalorian phases, rebels, the games, the books, that kinda thing. The Mandalorian and the Sequels were the longest though, lasting several months. Same with DBH, I've been in that fandom since last November which is crazy for me. (same length of time as my dincobb era,,,)
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?: It used to be books, and I do still love reading books, but I think shows and games are my #1 favourites now. With my declining attention span those are about the only things I can latch onto easily.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?: AGENT KALLUS FROM STAR WARS REBELS. I lived his development arc, the metaphor being that my parents are the empire and the ISB is conditioned homophobia, the Rebels being the Gays, etc etc. For that reason it was so incredible and refreshing to get to see a character go from having a conditioned and ignorant perspective to breaking free of that because of one catalyst who made him question everything he thought he knew. And then, not only does he break free of it, he actively fights back against it, risking his life so many times to gather intel for the Rebels and keep them safe. And then when he finally gets to join them he is just the most dedicated, intelligent, strong willed fighter and he listens to others. He doesn't wallow in self pity over being a former imperial; he works to undo the harm he caused, he moves forward, he asks forgiveness but doesn't need it to change, and he forms strong friendships (and in one case a relationship) with the people he used to fight. It's beautiful and I love him so much.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?: I love Hank and Connor's father-son relationship with my whole heart. Found family is my shit. Same with the Jericrew, and Kara Alice and Luther. DBH has some excellent found family content. I also love fics/headcanons where Gavin and Connor are Best Bros. And speaking of Rebels, that is a show full to the brim of found family. I feel like Dave Filoni also has some familial trauma or something bc all of his shows have intense found family themes (clone wars, rebels, bad batch, the mandalorian) which like good for him
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon: In Resident Evil I headcanon that [SPOILERS] Ethan survives obviously and that he is in love with Mia, Chris, and Heisenberg bc I love them all and he deserves all the love. Also yk most of what I like about Gavin Reed are either things Neil Newbon (his VA) has said about him or my own headcanons.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?: Connor from DBH is asexual and aromantic and I will die on this hill. Also Ethan Winters from RE is bi polyamorous. Also also Chris Redfield is a Gay Man but that's kinda technically canon too. Poe and Finn Dameron are married. Gavin Reed is gay and a dog person (Neil confirmed ;). Hank and Connor are father and son but that is canon, I just unfortunately have to defend it from fans who are gross. Also so many characters are trans: Gavin Reed, Ethan and Mia Winters, Leon Kennedy, Heisenberg, Lady Dimitrescu, Chloe North Josh and Rupert from DBH, Han Solo, I could go on.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom: I'm an absolute slut for fake dating/relationship to lovers. I'm sure a therapist could explain why but I sure can't. Idk why it has such a hold on me but I promise if a fic's got a fake relationship trope I'm gonna love it. Just the mutual pining and complete dumbassery, the tension, the yearning, the denial, it's like actually addicting for me. There's not enough of it.
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!: It's crazy the amount of entitled fans there are, especially on this site. And I mean, anywhere from fans who invade the privacy of the actors/creators they're fans of, to fans who shit on the things other people love or actively go out of their way to be rude to other fans who are just enjoying something. When I dislike things in fandoms, I block the tags and I do not interact. I don't want to see it so I don't go looking for it. But there are fans that think they have the right to go into other people's safe spaces and attack them for any opinion that are different from theirs. Chill tf out y'all. You're not entitled to other people's privacy, to their opinions, to their content, etc. You are entitled to stfu and leave. So do that.
On a lighter note, I've made such wonderful friends through fandoms who have made all the shitty people absolutely worth it. I love y'all💜💕

i write silly little things about silly little characters. if you don't agree with my head-cannons, move on. if you take issue with my drabbles, ask yourself whether its a personal issue before commenting. if you think i've said something wrong, fundamentally, morally, or politically (that word is used for lack of a better one), comment or dm me about it. do not reblog it, unless the tags say otherwise. i will see if it needs changing and act accordingly.
the tag 'elleyouwhore' will be used with spam shit regarding me.
the tags 'who is peter nureyev?' 'a simp' is one that i will use. you'll figure it out. it is a reference to the penumbra, but the tag may not be regarding penumbra.
vent posts should have the tag 'ouw' meaning 'opinion unwelcome'. if it doesn't, you are free to offer an opinion. otherwise, leave it alone.
do not do:
don't call me racist. or sexist. i am neither.
don't compliment me

i do not agree with the pjo hunters of artemis. i don't like them if misandry existed, it would be personified as them
natalie deserved better than jace and i stand by the fact that he was in the wrong.
'pathetic little white boys' is a compliment. and i will say it in regards to people who are none of those things.

Does anyone else just get really preemptively tired and annoyed when they see a-spec head canons? Like I know, logically, that it's probably just some kid and they don't know any better, but I'm so sick of seeing them because it seems like nearly every single time the hc isn't being used to highlight certain themes, or to explain certain subtext, or to explore the way that identity can affect someone's life. Instead, I always see it used either because the user ships that character's love interest with someone else and wants them out of the picture, or just to write them out of the story in general. Every single time being aromantic is treated as always married to being asexual (and I am aro/ace but it still bothers me) and the characters are always written like they've always known they're aro/ace, they've always been 100% okay with it, and they're this totally settled, totally above it all person who's never struggled with it at all.
And like, maybe this is me just getting fed up with only seeing my identity used as an out, but I'm just so tired of it! We aren't just props or excuses. Learning to accept my own identity was a long and arduous experience for me. I felt alienated and alone and like I had to give up every dream I ever had for my own future. I felt like I lacked something crucial to the human experience and I had to learn to be okay with that. I had to unlearn years of allonormativity and being a cis woman didn't help the fact at all. Like I rejected someone once because I couldn't return their feelings and immediately felt like I was being some kind of cruel and vile monster for staying single my whole life and I know now it was internalized sexism but I didn't then!! And dammit I think stories like mine are worth telling! The stories of the other a-spec people on this blog are worth telling!!
Anyway this has drifted a little from the starting premise of the rant but just- one mainstream coming of age esc teen romance centered on an aromantic person who comes to realize and accept their aromantisim. One popular story dedicated truly and entirely to taking our lived experiences and our identities and exploring them properly. One single goddamn moment where someone is confirmed aromantic and it doesn't just go away right after like they were born completely accepting of it despite growing up in the same love heart plastered world we did.
I can't take another "I don't ship this character with anyone in particular so i'm just making them aro/ace so I don't have to think about it." I can't. I'm so tired of it.
Yeah, I'm very much at the point where I don't even touch any ace/aro stuff involving fandom. There's some good stuff out there, but it's so few and far between, and more often than not I see stuff like this.
We deserve complex stories. Hopefully as people keep writing more we start seeing it reflected in fandom more.

Buckle up everyone yer girl's about to beat a dead horse.
Ok so one thing that kinda disappoints me is the fact that the cookie run fandom kinda forgot the fact that Moonlight's not a goddess of the moon, but rather an entity who guards a city of wizards via sleeping.
Yeah, she has a very apparent moon aesthetic but thats cuz the moon has heavy associations with magic, it doesn't mean she's from the moon or anything. Other than magic, the moon is also associated with sleep, and Moonlight is more powerful when she's asleep, so it'll only make sense to make a magic narcoleptic themed around the night.
Everyone just sees that Sea Fairy is attracted to the moon and believe that Moonlight is said moon.
And not only does Moonlight not have Sea Fairy in her relationships
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Nowhere does it say she's from the moon or anything. She was probably made with moonlight, but again moonlight is associated with witchcraft and wizardry, and it says here that she was created by ancient wizards, presumably with moonlight, hence the bloody name.
While I do like seamoon, its pretty shitty to say that its a canon ship without even the slightest bit of evidence and bash people for not shipping it, when there's more evidence to support that Seamoon is and probably never will be canon then that they'll ever BE canon.
The only two forms of evidence i can find of Seamoon being even vaguely implied is the fact that Sea Fairy has Moonlight in her relationships, but as stated above, those feelings are one-sided and it never explicitly says that she's in love with Moonlight, just the fact that she trusts her.
Tumblr media
Sea Fairy probably only likes her cuz she was made with moonlight, which uh
Dunno about you but that's kinda shotty
"Oh but trust obviously means they're in love, you're just a lesbophobic bitch who can't understand co-"
Tumblr media
Yah wanna fucking explain this then?
Tumblr media
Or this?
Tumblr media
Hell, even with characters that we know arent children, I dont see people shipping people like Spinach and Carrot together GODDAMN
Can you use relationships as a basis to ship two cookies? Yes, yes, you can. But you also don't HAVE to, such as with the Angel x Devil ship where Angel trusts Devil while Devil sees Angel as a rival
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But uh idk kinda common sense to not harass and call someone lesbophobic just cuz they don't ship seamoon and claim that its canon due to the "lesbian-coding" sea fairy has.
1. Sea Fairy has no such thing, she doesn't even have any links that so much as hint towards any form of love towards woman.
2. Either shit or get off the pot
Lesbian-coding imo, or sexuality coding in general, is kinda bullshit because if you want so badly to tell someone that this character is one thing, just flat out say it, quit feeding us breadcrumbs and expect us to be satisfied. Why do you have to make every single goddamn thing vague and implied? How hard is it to just flat out tell us that yes this character is not straight or cis? Sod off.
Devsisters doesn't even code their characters, they either leave it fully up to interpretation or flat out say that "yeah, these two are in a relationship", but even then yah don't have to follow canon, except when it comes to ages of course.
Moonlight nor Sea Fairy aren't coded to be together or even lesbians because nO SUCH CODING EVEN EXISTS AND EVEN IF IT DID IT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT BECAUSE IT'S IMPLICATION NOT BLUNTNESS AND ITS VERY SHOTTY IMPLICATION AT BEST
If you wanna ship Seamoon regardless of all this? Go ahead, I'm right along with yah. If we don't have to folllow the canon that almond and roguefort have tension together, you don't have to follow the canon that sea fairy and moonlight aren't actually together and you can headcanon them to be lesbians if you wish.
But uh I DON'T KNOW maybe don't attack people for not having the same headcanon as you??? And maybe don't throw "Lesbian-coding" as the bullshit evidence of that ship being canon?? Cuz there's no evidence of Sea Fairy nor Moonlight being lesbian coding???? The fuck's wrong with you people-
Unless you can prove to me with screenshotted evidence that seamoon is explicitly canon, it's all just fanon and heresy that sea fairy and moonlight are together. Leave Seapirate shippers alone, leave seafire shippers alone, leave every single shipper where they don't ship Sea Fairy or Moonlight cookie, regardless of their pronouns, alone. And before you go on a tangent about them being shipped with men, he/him lesbians exist, gender does not equal pronouns, you can go by they/them pronouns and still identify as a cisgender woman, and even if the shipper has the cookie shipped with either Moonlight or Sea Fairy headcanonned as a male, WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER
WLW representation needed??? BITCH WE HAVE ALL THE WLW REPRESENTATION WE NEED and what about stuff like Pan or Poly representation too? Don't polymorphic people deserve some kind of representation too? Bi people? Asexual people??? You're so concerned about lesbians having representation that you're forgetting about all the other sexualities that could also fit into wlw as well. It's woman loves woman, not lesbian loves lesbian.
So long as people ain't shipping children with adults(looking at you, proshippers. Go to hell) let people ship whoever the fuck they want.
God one minute im talking about an overseen moonlight fact and then im talking more about how people shouldn't gatekeep i promise I'll post something more lighthearted next-

⚠ WARNING, long angry fan vent ⚠
-This is exclusively personal. If you don't like it, please go your way. I'm not gonna discuss this if you don't share my opinion. As I said, is a VENT, I'm being incredibly SUBJECTIVE-
There's a "thesis" on the Internet that suggests that the monogamy, marrying, and forming a family of Apollo and Midnighter were made to convey a social idea. I was like "WTF happens to you?" when I found it.
Tumblr media
Do you have something against a stable couple? What's YOUR PROBLEM? Are you meaning we don't deserve a happily married gay couple only because you think is something of a "homonormativity"?
It's almost the only married gay couple of men I know until now in comics that (at least in Wildstorm) started together, and end up together HAPPY (until DC took them up).
A truth here is that Wildstorm suppressed a lot of Midnighter and Apollo's relationship to don't "scare" their ph0bic lectors 🙄 but, only because of that they don't have the right to be married and HAPPY?? and love each other and ONLY each other?
Tumblr media
Maybe you need to meet people inside the fandom that despise what DC did with the couple in Midnighter modern run (me included). Does it say SOMETHING to you? 🙄 It felt like a betrayal to the whole history of the character. To his essence.
What's worst, we still have Apollo with a lack of development.
The thesis criticizes "h0mophobia" moments. Do you took a moment to understand the tone of Wildstorm comics? They were meant to be a rude sh*t. That was the point. These comics are full of questionable things that are not shown to you to be comfortable with them. They are not meant for people that are sensible and feel attacked personally by these themes.
Midnighter and Apollo aren't a couple in a good context for them, and that's their truth. And you see them fighting that and winning anyways! That's inspiring. Their fight people who are bad, and also the people that disrespect them. They exist and fight, they are superheroes 'cause of that.
Tumblr media
The positivity over diversity may be one of the only things that improved in the change Wildstorm/DC, but we are still waiting for things that we had before and now, we still not. For example, the chemistry, the physical contact, the romantic moments that DC still lacks, and I don't get why. They were fast to BROKE THEM UP but, the love?
I don't know. I will not even read that thesis fully because I got so angry when I saw it applauded Midnighter's modern run decisions. It's realistic? Yes. And so far more friendly with the LGBT+ community. But it's friendly with Midnighter story?
NO. And double NO because Apollo is the one that suffers it all. Apollo is the side character. Apollo is the one painted as the problem. Apollo is shown as a drama queen and Midnighter as a character with a problem about "k1ll or not" when the essence of this couple is that they do it if it's needed. That made them even more unique than compared with, for example, Superbat (and Midpollo is CANON ❤).
Tumblr media
That didn't happen in Wildstorm comics. DC has the opportunity of giving us all the development Wildstorm didn't have the time to, and it's not doing it: giving both characters an interesting past about why they got the powers or were transformed into living weapons.
We gained and we lost a lot.
Tumblr media
The author of the thesis seems to convey being a married happy couple with family is a 'wrong' stereotype for homosexuals, but go having one-night-stands everywhere is good? Maybe we need to remember the "All Gays Are Promiscuous" trope and the damage it does (although in Wildstorm, all the couples, gay or not, had a very active s3x life, shown or implied, and I personally love the erotism in shipping... but I said, SHIPPING, a DEFINED COUPLE).
Tumblr media
*The "no homo" Midpollo 😂 that was so fun*
My asexuality is very DISGUSTED with this sh*t. I have nothing against people that prefers one way of life or another (monogamy, polygamy, one defined couple, open relationships, etc), but monogamy, the concept I HAVE of it (not the "social" one) is not the devil. And in comics, where a stable couple is almost a miracle, some of us want it to keep stable for one time.
LET THEM BE. Let our ship BE in PEACE and keep making us believe in love.
And if you want to read Midnighter and Apollo, whether you like it or not, it's a truth they are born from comics with hard and complicated subjects. If you don't want to read them, it's your right and I fully understand you.
But don't come here saying DC is doing it ALL better, because that's NOT true. The origins are the origins, and without them, we will not even have this wonderful couple existing and breaking the heteronormativity since 1998.

Ok I swear to god I'm not trying to rag on asexuality or anyone who is asexual today, in fact I'm talking this much about it because I care about the validity of asexuality and how it is represented on a mainstream platform and I have seen multiple things in SEVERAL fandoms today that are making alarm bells go off in my head and you know what fuck it, we've been ignoring the underhanded propaganda, talking points that have been fed through the internet by the alt-right for too long and look where we are? It's the argument about 'queer' all over again.
I saw many things, but specifically I saw in a discussion where someone was wondering why a show keeps dancing around addressing a character's sexuality (in a show where it has been hinted at but never touched- we ALL know) and several people responded "well what if they're ASEXUAL? I think they're asexual. It's great asexual representation :)"
And like, okay, that is a valid and good interpretation of the situation and I know I for one would love if that is the case, but as the subject material stands now is it really good representation? Is it though? Because they definitely have not addressed head-on the possibility that the character could be ace and/or aro, nor have they dealt with reflecting an ace/aro person's experience. Sure, maybe some of the things that happen are similar, but at this point it is most likely incidental. (I'd love to be wrong, but let's be realistic about mainstream entertainment) This character has not had any of that addressed in any concrete way at all despite the show centering a lot around sex and sexuality for every other character. Why wouldn't it come up and be discussed? And of course, I can't say that wouldn't be enough for an asexual person watching, but I feel like they deserve more than that. Name it. Have the characters discuss it. Show us the effects of this on the character. If we're basing every single character's likely canon outcome purely on the basis of what they haven't done or haven't said we're probably going to be disappointed because that is...pretty broad. Just because the butler's fingerprints are not on the murder weapon does not inherently mean he's innocent; he could have used a glove, after all, and given that he IS a butler-....
My concern here is that this, along with general fandom puritanism and the drive to get icky ew gross sex completely out of fandom spaces, is going to create circumstances favorable for in-fighting and gatekeeping and silencing. Guess who benefits when all of us are arguing amongst each other and not holding Capitalism responsible for properly reflecting our stories and experiences? The people in charge who don't care and would rather not have that expectation hanging over their heads anyway.
Because it's becoming this thing where if a character does not experience any development or exploration in the vein of romance or sexuality then they are indisputably aro-ace and you may not argue otherwise bc that is erasure. Do we not see how easily this can become a way of allowing corporations off the hook without accountability? Not just for properly and unashamedly exploring queer experiences in general, but for aro/ace characters specifically. It's accepting the bare minimum-to-nothing as acceptable rep (for yourself and others) while saying that you are being silenced while you are intentionally trying to silence and censor other marginalized voices. It's bullshit and I'm frustrated that we don't seem to be learning from past mistakes but rather just recycling them again and again in different forms, which is regressive and divisive and helps no one. It also means less quality representation. (To be clear, I'm not talking about headcanoning/interpreting a character as ace/aro or hoping that it will be confirmed in canon, I'm talking about doing that and arguing that any other conflicting interpretations are inherently wrong or a form of violence against you, and/or saying this is definitely what the character is bc the show's lack of addressing anything one way or another is sufficient aro/ace representation)
It is valid to be desperate for representation in media one enjoys; of course it is, and so many of us deserve so much better reflected in the subject material we enjoy and patronize. But we cannot let that desperation drive us to accept less than what we deserve from a system that is routinely pushing back against us and counting on us to fold. We should not allow that to blind us from the true priorities of the people creating the material we're consuming. We can't keep letting desperation put people on pedestals that have absolutely no interest in reflecting us at the expense of other marginalized creators who do and deserve the support so much more.
And also, please. Please. Asexual and sexual fans can coexist. There is nothing inherently wrong with sex, sexuality or wanting to explore sex/sexual behaviors via fictional settings and characters. There is nothing wrong with not being interested in that at all (or just being a little interested or only wanting romantic nonsexual content, etc, however it manifests) and curating your fandom experience to your comfort level. There is absolutely no need for one side to try to invalidate the other, and while the moral right is trying to inject its beliefs and talking points into every available corner of the internet we need to be hyper vigilant about divisive talk and 'otherness' even when it pops up in seemingly benign contexts and places. Any justifying as to why one segment of a group is not as 'valid' or as 'welcome' as the rest. That sort of thing. It's very sneaky and manipulative, but once you're on alert for the red flags and the rhetoric you'll begin to see how this seeps into corners we believe are safe.
They're only as safe as we keep them and the only way we do that is by sticking together, uplifting each other and demanding what we rightly deserve.

I'm only saying yes because my eye has a violent twitch. And my spasms and lack of coordination from cerebral palsy, autistic dyspraxia, and ADHD startle reflexes have gotten worse. And I spilled my coffee on a freshly washed shirt that had jelly stains from yesterday.
...
Aaaand I got another over the top physical threat message from an anti-shipper that made me want to get a master's in neuropsychology specifically to spite the anti-ship fandom cult that has infiltrated the Ninja Turtles fandom since 2018 with their "if you are into X type of ship you deserve to be dismembered with an axe because we Antis place more value on the sex lives of mutant turtles than real people."
For over twenty years, some fans have been exploring the psychology of fictional fantasy animal mutants in a secret clan alone in the world, genetically unrelated but bound by a sacred brotherhood, canonically demi-asexual except for their own species which was only each other, forced into isolation, beyond human morality and law beyond what they choose for themselves. And those who didn't like it, for whom Turtle Slash was a squick and a trigger and a reminder of incest, left it alone so long as it was tagged, because everyone could understand the rule of Don't Like Don't Read, and we came down hard on writers who didn't tag their kink or respect their readers, and for twenty years all was mostly well and peaceful.
And then suddenly the cult of anti-shipping infiltrated, and at first we laughed at their threats - they would devour our kneecaps, we should step on spiked Lego, creative cute little flames - and then came what seemed to be real death threats, and here we all were confused as hell at all these teenagers conflating comic book cartoon fantasy characters, half reptile, with actual real human people, and then actual agencies started begging them to quit reporting fantasy drawings of nonhuman creatures having consensual sex and there's a sentence I never thought I'd write out loud.
Oh and we learned that some of them were pretending to hate their own interests to avoid being bullied, and now I mostly feel sad for kids and young adults in fandom who cling so hard to the thought that "fiction will make a person do bad things" that they don't stop to consider the nuances behind "fiction might have influence over emotional thoughts but it doesn't alter reality that way, people do that themselves." Especially in fantasy fiction and fanfiction.
Especially fantasy that literally cannot happen because I haven't seen any mutated animals with human minds running around bipedal and talking like a tactical strategist or a chemist engineer or a cheery insightful optimist or a passionate fighter. If I see them, though, I'll ask them how they feel about humans wanting to imagine screwing them or screwing each other.
