Here we go, chapter two of volume 0!
I find it notable this panel suggests Saiki can use clairvoyance on objects as well as people.
Not to bring another manga up in my commentary, but this panel made me realize Saiki is the more wrathful version of Mob… lol
Actually, they are similar. It’s just that Mob holds his frustrations in until he explodes, whereas Saiki has no compunctions about subtly getting revenge on people with his powers. Unlike Mob, he holds no fear of “abusing” his powers. He is only concerned if his powers are at risk of being exposed. (Whereas Mob is not terribly concerned about his powers being exposed, and there seems to be no in universe consequence to people finding out about it, since many other espers besides him exist, and they seem to be more powerful than the espers Saiki k that we see.)
Okay, psychic comedy kid comparison over.
Saiki complains of his powers being very hard to control… I am glad that much is kept in the main manga.
Saiki was gonna pull a girl like that who is literally into his type and he really said “nah”…
Also it is part of the reason that makes me wonder if Saiki doesn’t have some kind of other thing going on that attracts people to him. Sure, it can be the neurodivergent swag, but given that this is a *psychic* comedy, shouldn’t it be some power, or some twist of fate?? Every day the urge to write Soulmates AU grows stronger.
This is a mundane detail that I really like. How I interpret it is: can tell where people are by the strength of their telepathic signal, so to speak. People who are closer have “louder” thoughts. This would make thoughts like signals… or radio waves, I guess. Really low frequency waves that travel long distances.
Nendou just says whatever is on his mind… I like that he has essentially the same problem with people who never shut up (Akechi), because there’s little delay there as well.
Leaping off of a building to escape Nendou… so dramatic. I like that even though he’s capable of just flying, it’s faster to fall…
Also, Saiki’s telepathic forboding is so useful. More people need to use that in fics.

I don't think there's anything wrong with liking Kusuke - I do too, he's an interesting character - but I keep coming across people who genuinely seem to think there's nothing grim about him which is like???
Yes, he did buy a house for his family, but he also riddled it with cameras (at least I assume so, judging by how he's often shown watching them on a screen).
Yes, he made Kusuo his limiters, but he also added a feature that made it impossible for Kusuo to refuse his games without his powers being exposed.
Every act of love is also a grab for control. Yeah, he isn't completely and utterly evil, but nobody is.
