She said— “What else did I say?”
He said, “Where did you put the people? Where did they go?”
She said, “I still love you.”

Sloppy seconds byler aren’t endgame angels with a nightmare is a fool a 25+ year old women with fantasies about teen boys being gay how’s that any different to men’s fantasies about lesbians?
Y’all are so caught up in you’re echo chambers you can’t see it and it’s gonna crash and burn so badly it’s not the byler show either it’s stranger things
Omg I feel so honored to get my first real hate ask!
There's so many things to unpack here, so I think Im gonna go one by one.
First of all, I assume you either ship Mleven or at least you despise byler, but my last post was only tagged as byler so there was no reason for you to see it unless you were stalking the byler tag, which in that case I'm glad you're such a dedicated fan!
Second of all, I'm assuming you're the same anon who has been sending around other anon asks the past couple of weeks always mentioned the words "sloppy seconds". Now, I know nothing about you or about your life enough to tell you what you should or shouldn't do, but I think I'd should let you know how disgusting of a term that is, and what it implies. I'm assuming if you like Mileleven you like Mike too, since he's one half of the ship. That's why it's shocking to me how you seem so adamant of thinking of him as nothing but El's leftovers, as if he wasn't his own person with his self worth! Also, someone's worth doesn't lessen just because they've already been kissed or touched by someone else. That's a sad outlook on life, and I'm not telling you to be mean, but because I think you'll live happier if you leave such toxic mentalities behind. They really do no good to someone's self esteem.
About the women fantasies about gay men, please notice how most people in this tag are underage people of all genders. This is not a sexual fantasy, as these characters aren't even portrayed sexually in the show to begin with. This is people who want to see good stories about themselves being written, and I think that's a really valid thing to wish for. Even if you've seen a couple weirdos out there on the internet, that's not the case for almost the whole of the fanbase. There's creepy people everywhere in every fandom. Also may I add that if you prefer Mike and El (which is completely valid if you do, you're allowed to have your preferences!) they are the same age as Mike and Will. Wouldn't you be predatory as well if you ship them? No you wouldn't, because they're kids and their relationship has never been sexual. Just like with Will and Mike. Assuming that every gay romance is automatically sexual is a very homophobic mindset ingrained in our society. If you really see gay people this way, probably you've been conditioned by society to do so, in that case it's not your fault but it's never too late to educate yourself. You'll be happier, seriously.
Finally, I wouldn't say an echo chamber is a ship community that has more Billions of wievs on TikTok that the other ship and surpasses it on every other platform, and that has general audience filmmakers and professional writers say themselves that they also understand how it's set up to happen in the final season. But again, it is not my job to convince you and you're not forced to change your mind. We will all have to wait until the final season to see who was actually right, only the Duffer brothers know what will happen.
Finally, Stranger Things is obviously not the byler show. However, one of the most important rules of storytelling is writing personal arcs and relationships for the characters to serve as subplots to the main story, so that the characters become full fleshed and realistic. The fact that you can relate to fictional characters, even though you've probably never time travelled done magic, lived in a post apocalyptic time or wathever you wanna imagine, is because you relate to their personal stories. A story isn't good without personal arcs, every professional writer you ask will tell you this. So yes, relationships are an episode aspect of stranger things that people can discuss if they want to. And the byler tag, or any other ship tags exists precisely to focus on those relationships. It doesn't mean that people don't like any other aspects of the show.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my little rant anon. I wish you have a great day!

10 Books to get to know me
Rules: 10 (non-ancient) books for people to get to know you better, or that you just really like.
Thank you to @bluesundaycake for the tag.
So I'm going to start with what the hell is this non-ancient business? I am going to take that at face value and not mention The Odyssey because that is an actually ancient book. I know the rules are just trying to say not an old book but I am old so everyone will just have to deal.
Distress - Greg Egan
This is my favourite book. It was written in 1995 and I have to mention that because it was so groundbreaking for its time. This was the first time that I had ever read a story where someone who was Agender was a character. Akili is the main love interest in the story and will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Essentially the book is about a strange mental disease that is spreading throughout the globe. At the same time the physics world is all excited because Violet Mosala is developing a new Theory of Everything. The story follows the life of Andrew Worth who is science journalist covering the theory.
The reason I love this so much is because the main moral of the story is that no one can know what anyone else is thinking. You can stereotype as much as you like but you can never truly know. It's why I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Enders Game Series - Orson Scott Card
Yes. You're going to get a lot of science fiction on this list. Just deal with it.
What's not to love? It's dark. The morals are so grey. What would you do to save humanity? What is a bit of casual Xenocide between friends. The characters are brilliant and nuanced (Bean is my favourit). The story makes you question how horrible of a person you are. Brilliant.
There's way to much plot to summarise but here is the brief. Aliens attacked earth. The government created super intelligent children and trained them for war to beat the aliens. These are their stories.
The Lightbringer Series - Brent Weeks
There's a couple of reasons why this is one of my favourites but I will start with the plot. It really is just one of those child presents with phenomenal powers, learns to use them and eventually ends up saving the day. Here's where it's different.
The world building. This magic system is one of the most interesting and creative ones I have come across. It's based off colour and light and is just so well thought out that it makes me... Hang on I have a gif for this.
Tumblr media
Secondly the freaking Gavin twist! If you've read the series you know what I'm talking about. I won't do any spoilers but just know there is a twist and it changes everything.
Tumblr media
Silverthorn & A Darkness at Sethanon - Raymond E Feist
What can I say about this one. You may be surprised that it's not Magician and that I didn't say the whole series but these two go together and are so mean so much more to me than the rest. Why? It's Prince Arutha's story. Prince Arutha is such a second child and I just vibe with that. His brother is handsome and charismatic and everyone loves him but Arutha is smart and canny and not as well liked but he is also fair and kind and honestly I could just go on about him forever. The story is gripping and heartbreaking and brilliant.
Tumblr media
Wool, Shift & Dust - Hugh Howey
This is post apocalyptic conspiracy gold. The human race consists only of what is left living inside giant bunkers in the ground that they call silos. The atmosphere outside is so toxic that no one can go outside. The series starts with an execution. You see they don't have the resources to have long term prisoners so if anyone does something that deserves long term incarceration they are executed. How are they executed? I'm so glad you asked. They are sent outside. They are sent outside with some cleaning supplies and are asked to clean the windows of the silo because they are always filthy as no one can go outside to clean them.
Anyway the political plotline is good, the conspiracy is better and the main character is a tough as nails BAMF called Juliette.
Tumblr media
Beauty - Sheri S Tepper
Trigger warning: Rape/Non-Con
No one mixes fantasy and science fiction quite like Tepper and she does it best in this book. It is like a love letter to the fairytale genre. One of the best parts is picking out which tale each character represents. It has time travel, fairies, love, trauma and everything in between. It follows the story of Beauty as she tries to escape a curse to be with her one true love and instead gets lost in time, space and between worlds.
Dark Rise - C.S. Pacat
The first magical realism of the list. I didn't know this when I started reading it but the whole crux of this story is that Pacat was trying to write the worst set up for a relationship that she could imagine and oh boy did she. You will not see it coming but it is so so good.
Anyway the plot is this. Will is your typical chosen one working to stop the rise of an evil Dark Lord with the help of a few people including Violet his crush. It has references to the crusades and the lost magic of the old world and a unique secret order. Here's the thing. Nothing is what you think and the twists in this book are freaking amazing.
If you've read it hit up my DMs because I cannot talk about it enough and I am dying to read book two (coming out Dec 2023).
I've also read her Captive Prince series which I also enjoyed and was almost included in this list.
Tumblr media
The Hunger Games Series - Suzanne Collins
We all know this one. If you don't what rock have you been hiding under. I do love tragedy.
That said I know not as many people have read "A Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes" but please do. Everyone keeps asking me how can I get past Coriolis Snow being the main character? If you haven't guessed by now I love villian origin stories and this is a bloody good one.
Does it excuse who he is and what he does? No but that's part of why it's good. How can we not get behind a spectacular fall from grace. Just read it.
The Wayfarer Series - Becky Chambers
I can't believe I almost forgot this one! Becky Chambers is here writing freaking cutting edge romance. The first book ends in one of the most heartbreaking tragedies I have ever read. Her universe and world building is so creative and different that nothing quite matches it.
Essentially in this universe humans have no home planet. Earth was destroyed hundreds of years ago so we are the immigrants and the minority in the galaxy as we have no home of our own.
Each book is stand alone but I would recommend reading them all as they are that good. Each explores a different set of characters and stories with some overlap so you do get the occasional callbacks to previous books. These are full of characters trying to get by while compromising and appreciating their differences.
Truckers, Diggers and Wings - Terry Pratchett
I had to mention something by Terry Pratchett and I choose this one because it was the first. Soul Music was a close second but this one has such a special place in my heart. It is the story of the nome Masklin who grew up in a hole. A literal hole. It follows his story as he learns that the world is much bigger than he grew up to believe.
I don't know if you know this but I grew up in a small country town halfway up the coast of Western Australia. This book speaks to me because it resonates so much with my personal story because I did grow up and find out the world was much bigger than I had ever realised.
Ok I'm done. That took forever. I may have lost count.

Stephen King on Silo: ‘Mysterious and Terrifically Suspenseful’
‘King's positive review isn't the only good news for the Apple TV drama. New data delves into how Silo beat out its competing streaming shows as the number one most in-demand breakout show...   Silo beat out the likes of Netflix's Fubar, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, and HBO Max's Love and Death...
‘... [Silo] starts by telling a fairly grounded story of a couple that's trying to conceive their first child. From there, the scope and focus of Silo expand while still prioritizing the human concerns driving the story. Still, as King says, offering his latest recommendation, the show knows how to build up a mystery...’

‘More is on the way’
‘If you’re enjoying Silo on Apple TV Plus, good news: more is on the way. The post-apocalyptic series, based on novels by Hugh Howey, is getting a second season. The show premiered on May 5th and is still airing; the finalé streams on June 30th.
‘The show takes place in the titular silo, an underground facility that houses the last remnants of humanity, shielding them from the desolate landscape outside. Season 1 plays out sort of like a small-town mystery that just so happens to take place at the end of the world. It stars Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and Tim Robbins...’
~ from Apple is bringing back Silo for a second season by Andrew Webster (The Verge) June 14, 2023
Tumblr media
“In a ruined and toxic future, thousands live in a giant silo deep underground. After its sheriff breaks a cardinal rule and residents die mysteriously, engineer Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) starts to uncover shocking secrets and the truth about the Silo.”

This piece is an old favorite of mine! It features Galgithor (The cryo depicted a couple of posts back) exploring a definitely toxic cave, with huge selenite crystals stained green from what is most likely mine drainage. Galgithor’s story takes place in an ARPG about a post-apocalyptic scenario involving dinosaurs, so there’s all sorts of relics of bygone human activity for her to explore.

✨OC Awards✨
There was an open tag for this by @athenswrites, so I'll pass out some awards to the Dysthanasia characters. (Vess, Ankaris, Fior, and the rest of the strangers/mind worms from Beyond & Between don't get any--it'll just encourage their behavior.)
Original post and list of questions here. [x]
Best Supporting Side Character: Cpl. Christina Yi
She didn't sign up to have her worldview blown to pieces or be branded a traitor by the Coven. But when they happen she doesn't abandon what she feels is right just to save her own ass.
Whiniest Bitch: Sgt. Areli Zamora
She's the type who wanted a badge and gun to feel bigger than other people. Without those...eh, well, she's still pretty dangerous actually.
Most Unhealthy Ways to Deal with Trauma: Renato Faria Dimas
Parents drowned on a rescue attempt at sea? *becomes vampiric enforcer for a secret society* Cognitive dissonance over what the Coven really does? *cues toxic relationship with first girlfriend* Oh, attacked and tortured an innocent human? *drags said human into plot to overthrow Coven leadership and recklessly flirts with him along the way*
Lost a Parent the Youngest: Isaac Soto
His mom died when he was two in one of the epidemics that are still prone to rip through the Central States. He'll thank you to wear a mask and shove your anti-vaccine conspiracy bullshit.
OC Magazine's Sexiest Character Alive: Ben Zebrowski
The first researcher to report on an unregistered bloodborn named Benjamin Zebrowski in 1934 was eventually pulled off the case. He was reprimanded and cited as having "lost academic objectivity" (i.e. had sexy adventures) and being "morally corrupted" (caught The Gay). After the Coven had to write up the next two men put on the assignment for the same reasons, they resorted to drastic measures: they sent in a woman researcher (gasp). Not just any woman, but one they described as "a spinster", "homely", and "frigid" (yikes). Ben disagreed with those views and proved bisexuality was a thing at the same time. Researchers have been banned from approaching him since 1953. (Spoiler: Some still do anyway.)
Best Fight Sequence: Renato and Melusine
Won't happen until after "Phagophobia", but...Renato fights a mermaid. It's everything his nightmares are made of.
Outstanding Plot Fucker-Upper: Sgt. Alan Curry
Mistakes are made. No spoilers.
Best Monologue: Cassius Mergus
I haven't even written one for him yet, but I already know the award goes to this bastard.
Most Tragic On Screen/Off Screen Death: Jacob Hawthorne
It's a long ways off. Suffice to say, he's among the first awful sacrifices his big sister Isabel makes to gain power.
Best Kiss: Isaac and Renato
Also a ways off. But the path to get there is what makes the payoff satisfying, I think.
Most Sympathetic Villain: Oleander "Ollie" Blume
She was a trans girl rescued from an apocalyptic cult and adopted by Mergus. Mergus, who wound up using the loyalty and gratitude she felt to twist her into a pawn when she grew up. So she's bound to have a few Issues™.
Best Costume Design: Dorian St-Ange
They could be in the middle of a desert at noon, treading water at sea, or standing on the surface of the sun and they'd be bundled up and looking cute in a coat or jacket like the nonbinary icon they are.
Best Playlist: Kinslayer
Emotions are their bread and butter. If you want to be caught crying in the club or run straight into a wall because a song's so good, they've got you covered.
Luckiest Goldfish Ever: Tesoro
They started life as a mere carnival goldfish. A prize to be given to whoever could toss three rings on a bottle. They could have wound up perishing in the clutches of someone uncaring or too young to be responsible for them, flushed down a toilet in an ignoble send off. Instead, they were won by a trans vampire enforcer for his trans vampire enforcer girlfriend. True, the couple got into a shouting match at home and broke up that night. Custody of the new fish went to Renato by default. He bought a fancy aquarium and the whole nine yards purely to spite Ollie. And wound up falling in love instead.
Now, Tes lives in a 125 gallon tank, complete with guppies and a pleco for friends, live water plants, a mini castle, and is guarded by a spectral force who communicates through sticky notes. A true finny fairytale.
Zero obligation tags @thecyrulik @whumpy-writings @whumpsday @the-blind-one-speaks @arigalefantasynovels and anyone else who wants to do this and share their answers with me. :D

While I'm reminiscing on weird fucked up periods of my life that I've moved on from, I'm gonna broach a topic I've touched on in the past.
I wanna give a big apology to bronies.
The impetus for this happened a couple years ago, when I saw this meme:
Tumblr media
And it really put things into perspective.
Because yeah, there was an apocalyptically shitty subset of bronies who would go all in on how uplifted the show made them feel, before posting on forums and twitter and stuff with "redpill" talking points - white supremacy, the most heavy-handed and vile sexism imaginable, real fascist shit. It's a similar case with K-ON - dudes take a sweet, uplifting show and end up associating it with outright neo-nazi shit.
But the other half of the brony fandom, including both cis and transgender women, who had nothing to do with the other half ended up getting heat by association, not because they themselves were allying with bootlicking stormtrooper-wannabes - but because they were cringe. Because in a lot of people's minds, there was enough of an overlap between "neckbeards"/that mid-10's quirky personality type that came with bronies on the internet, and the channers who were being neo-nazis on twitter (the perceived overlap being that both were maladjusted bedroom dwellers who had trouble talking to other people like human beings), that they might as well be the same person.
I just spoke about this in some tags - I was in a very vocal, sex-negative slice of social justice posting on Tumblr for a while as a young adult, and one way the more toxic elements of that community manifested was in labelling bronies as sex pests who were making the internet unsafe for children, citing the brony fandom as another wave of misogyny laying claim to things that were made for girls and aggressively pushing those girls out of online spaces through their aggressive self-proclaimed ownership of it.
While it's true that not every benign, non-channer brony eventually became transfem, this meme still resonates because - and please excuse me if this is too much of a reach, but - this was happening at a time before there was a schism in the social justice/progressive circles that led to a newer fourth wave of feminism and the reactionary TERF movement who weren't on board with the broader points of acceptance it brought with it.
This was when assimilationism and rainbow capitalism were widely spread as a means of furthering queer acceptance in a heteronormative world, kowtowing to some ideal societal expectation of a Decent Person to let a very thin, rigidly defined archetype of the "tolerable gay" into the cultural zeitgeist. We were seeing emerging arguments among a younger generation about how transgender people fit into the queer community, given that you could have straight trans people - ergo, people arguing that transgender people didn't belong under an umbrella that predominantly focuses on sexuality.
Basically, what I'm getting at is that there are aspects of that anti-brony backlash that end up mirroring transphobic rhetoric, intentionally or not - and it might have applied even back then, sure, but it's especially prominent now that we're living in a world where TERF speaking points have been mainstreamed to the point that they have. And I fully believe that in retrospect, a lot of the most heavy-handed anti-brony posting (at least the stuff that wasn't clearly reacting to the more extreme 4chan aspect of the fanbase) was linked to what was essentially proto-TERFism.
There are bronies who found true self-acceptance in this light-hearted cartoon show about pastel-colored ponies living in an idyllic fairy-tale setting, and while some people had the MLP bug come and go with their view of their own gender unshaken, it makes sense that just about anything about this show could resonate with an egg to the point where they realise some fundamental things about their gender that helped them move on and become happier, more productive people in their own skin.
And in hindsight, being in that pre-schism Tumblr-progressive community that was just as likely to shit on bronies for being neo-nazis as they were likely to shit on bronies for being cringe - that was a fucked up environment to be in. Eventually there was a dissonance I noticed between the stated beliefs and goals of the social justice community I saw myself in, and the really sketchy, aggressive way people in that community treated gender non-conforming people, or people with non-vanilla sexual proclivities behind closed doors, or people whose main crime was being socially inept and not very presentable - but until that dissonance manifested, and I took the time to leave all that behind and do the soul-searching that led to me becoming a better person, I was a part of that problem. I was trying to fit in with an environment that told me I was making up for past transgressions by targeting the right people and groups, and times like these - and a lot of times, honestly - I really wasn't. I had a lot of growing up to do.
I can only see a lot of these cracks in hindsight. And I'm sorry for participating the way I did and getting roped into all of that. Whether you were a closeted trans girl whose egg got cracked by My Little Pony, or you were just a megafan in the heyday of the craze who celebrated how fresh and innovative and emotionally resonant it all was - the anti-brony shit got way out of hand, and I think a lot of people owe the broader brony fanbase of the early 2010's a bit of an apology.
Parts of the fanbase were absolutely rancid - but fuck, as much as people love Avatar: The Last Airbender (myself included, that was my first huge fandom moment), there are slices of that fanbase who take things way too far. We don't discredit and drag the entire fanbase through the mud because a few extreme people don't know how to treat other people with basic human dignity. We acknowledge that extreme minority for what they are and we criticize them for that, and we still celebrate the show and communicate with the people who make the broader fan experience worthwhile.
As much as the bad apples were ruining the common perception of the show's unintended demographic back in the day, a lot of people who called themselves bronies and pegasisters and stuff like that should have been left alone to enjoy their favorite show amongst themselves. They weren't out to hurt anyone, and I think the show did a lot of good for a lot of decent people. I feel bad for contributing to a broader backlash against bronies of the time, and I apologise for any role I played in that. I never thought I'd ever reach a point where I would say this, but bronies deserved better than what they got.

Translation from French to English of « Acide » avec Guillaume Canet : ce thriller sur l’urgence climatique est aussi angoissant que réaliste by The Huffington Post
Culture 24/09/2023 11:02
Climate-crisis thriller Acid starring Guillaume Canet mixes angst and realism
Just Philippot’s style disaster movie that is close to current events, starring Guillaume Canet and Lætitia Dosch.
By Albane Guichard
Tumblr media
BONNE PIOCHE CINÉMA / PATHÉ FILM / FRANCE 3 CINÉMA / CANÉO FILMS
In Acid, the characters played by Guillaume Canet, Patience Munchenbach and Lætitia Dosch have to flee their homes and become climate refugees in France.
CINEMA – Floods in Greece and Libya, typhoon in Hong Kong… and now acid rains in France. The latter natural disaster is fictional so far, yet Philippot’s Acid is sadly on the agenda. With his feature film, in cinemas this Wednesday 20 September, French director Just Philippot aims to make us think-and shiver-about climate crisis.
Canet and Dosch play a divorced couple with their 15-year-old daughter Selma (Munchenbach), the three of them trying to outlive a climate disaster. Acid rains strike the Upper France and burn everything down: vegetation, animals, car wrecks and, of course, human skin.
For 100 minutes, the film follows the family’s race against time as they seek shelter at all costs, only to be overtaken by the deadly rain. It is a disaster film similar to many others theoretically. But Acid’s realism hits hard.
youtube
Acid’s nerve-wracking realism
Philippot did not have the use of large special effects or thrilling explosions, unlike American big-budget films. The film is frightening, for the viewers can easily put themselves in the characters’ shoes, and it could well be set in 2023.
The story takes place during a March heatwave, near Arras, against a backdrop of economic crisis. Michal, played by Canet, is under judicial supervision after a violent confrontation with the riot police at his factory during a strike.
The scenes showing climate refugees fleeing their homes with a suitcase echo those already seen in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Water, which has become toxic, is a rare commodity, and the government is putting in place containment measures.
A doomed youth
Selma is a reflection of the new generation which grew up too fast, due to the climate crisis. At the beginning of the film, she worriedly watches the 24-hour news channels alerting to the acid clouds in Latin America. Her father chooses to turn off the television instead.
Even if they do their best to protect Selma once the disaster has started, her parents are helpless to cope with the gravity of the situation. Some scenes in the film offer a glimmer of hope by showing this parental love, which sometimes leads to sacrifice.
Tumblr media
BONNE PIOCHE CINÉMA / PATHÉ FILM / FRANCE 3 CINÉMA / CANÉO FILMS
In a race against time, and against the rains, the family must find a shelter.
Outside the family nucleus, there are many brutal and selfish behaviours, despite a few mutual aid scenes. Some let the devil take the hindmost to survive and won’t be selfless. Acid displays a scenario that is as catastrophic for the planet as it is for society.
The eco-friendly shooting wanted by the director of Acid
In his first feature film, The Swarm, released in 2020, Philippot already mixed social tragedy and an apocalyptic outlook by telling the story of a bankrupt farmer who starts raising grasshoppers.
Acid alerts us to the reality of climate crisis, both in front of and behind the camera. At the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was not in competition, he was awarded the Ecoprod France prize, which rewards feature films produced in the most eco-friendly way possible since 2022.
The carbon footprint of the film, and of the film crews, was reduced to a minimum. And even though nature appears completely destroyed on screen, the director opted for digital visual effects to preserve the filming locations, not from acid rain, but from the impact of mankind.
EN · I'm making a big comeback with a translation of an article about Acid. I watched this film at the cinema two months ago; I loved it, but at the same time I'll probably never see it again because it practically gave me an anxiety attack. I have to say that acid rains (which are already happening in poor countries) caused by global warming are nerve-wracking. 🥲

My top 20 kpop songs of 2022
Long time no see!!! It's been a while since I wrote in this blog but I thought I would come back to give you my favorite things of kpop and korean dramas of 2022. First off my favorite songs of the year!
H.M. IVE- Love Dive. Fun song. Honestly I didn't like it the first time I listened to it but it's just so catchy.
Tumblr media
20. Mamamoo-ILLELLA. Mamamoo always brings the vocals and this is a feel good song for me.
Tumblr media
19. Got the beat-step back. This was released in January and the lyrics left a lot to be desired but the vocals are just insane. I mean BOA, Winter, Seulgi and Wendy, is there more to say? Of course Hyo and Karina killed it too!!
Tumblr media
18. Red Velvet-Feel my rythm. This song grew on me. At first I thought it was fun yet weird but as most Red Velvet songs I ended up loving it.
Tumblr media
17. Crush ft. J-hope- Rush hour. Crush came back with a bang this year and you know you can count on him delivering vocals but I wasn't expecting to see him do this style of song and has a bit of a Pharrell Williams vibe. J-HOPE rap style went very well with it.
Tumblr media
16. ENHYPEN-Polaroid love. Catchy and sweet pop song. This song brightens up my day when I listen to it.
Tumblr media
15. AESPA-GIRLS. The fourth episode in their saga against the villain Black Mamba comes to an end with this song. And it brings everything we've come to love from Aespa: great vocals, crazy beat changes and a fun storyline.
Tumblr media
14. JAY PARK-Bite. I've always loved Jay Park's vocals more than his rap but in this song both of them shine.
Tumblr media
13. TREASURE-JIKJIN. I didn't know how I felt about the beat on the chorus the first few times I listened to this but once again I got hooked and became addicted to it.
Tumblr media
12. NCT DREAM-GLITCH MODE. In some ways NCT DREAM has become my favorite NCT sub unit. They just have a great energy and this song has the right amount of witty lyrics, harmonies and a catchy chorus.
Tumblr media
11. KEY-GASOLINE. I was about to post this entry when I realized I had left this song out of my list! I don't know why it slipped my mind when this was just EPIC and I'm not talking just about the MV. KEY has really made it this past couple of years when it comes to variety shows so without much to prove he really went all out for this year's comeback. It was almost like he saw the gap TAEMIN left and was like I'm gonna give you everything that is missing in the industry right now: bold styling choices, with a beat full of charisma and a crazy choreo. Why? Because he can.
Tumblr media
10. SEULGI- 28 Reasons. Seulgi made her solo debut and it was amazing. For me she is a female Taemin. Not only can she execute complex choreos but she proved she is full of charisma. The lyrics of this song are dark about a toxic relationship but the beat and Seulgi's vocals make it a song you won't get tired of.
Tumblr media
9. CHEN-LAST SCENE. If you have a beating heart this song will hit you right in the feels. The first time I listened to it I cried and I'm not a crier. He can convey so much with his voice. Our talented Kim Jongdae is back from the military so all we can do is enjoy his music.
Tumblr media
8. WINNER-I LOVE U. I can't get enough of this silly love song. Kang Seungyoon's high notes, Jinwoo's sweet vocals and the rappers witty lyrics make this such a pleasant listen. Definitely one of my most played songs of the year.
Tumblr media
7. TAEYEON-INVU. This dance song with off the charts vocals made Taeyeon look different to me. We all know she can sing it all but this song was such a trend and it was no surprise she made it to the top of the korean charts.
Tumblr media
6. Zico-Freak. Zico does it all. Singing, producing, rapping and dancing. Such a fun song about being a freak in a apocalyptic world.
Tumblr media
5. TXT-Good boy gone bad. Not gonna lie. When TXT debuted I wasn't a fan but this year they really stood out for me. And my favorite song of them is this one. I love the chorus, the attitude an the vocals.
youtube
4. KANG SEUNG YOON-Born to love you. According to Spotify this was my most listened kpop song of the year. Honestly I was surprised because the first time I listened to it I was like cute song but I wish Seungyoon had chosen more of a belter because I love his head voice high notes. But it's so addictive. Bang Yedam is a great producer and I hope he does more of it now that he left TREASURE.
youtube
3. BIG BANG-Still life. This song is bittersweet. We all expected a grand comeback from BIG BANG after their military service. Scandals and the pandemic pushed it until this year. Sadly we only got one song and as of today only GDRAGON and TAEYANG remain with YG so we don't know how long it will take to get another comeback. However the song itself is another BIGBANG master piece. The lyrics that talk about the past. My favorite part: Taeyang's vocals.
youtube
2. BLACKPINK- Pink Venom. It seems I just keep repeating myself but when I listened to this song I was put off by the chorus. Then again fast forward a month and I found myself obsessed with this song. The old school rap beats with the trendy dance beat is just crazy good and also so YG.
youtube
1. Be'O-Love me. I said this last year but I fell just like half of Korea for BE'O in Show Me The Money. And sometimes in reality shows they do great and then when they release their stuff afterwards I don't necessary love it but BE'O can do no wrong in my eyes these days. His songs tend to be straight forward and have uncomplicated beats and this feel good song just made my 2022 happier.

Trivia Tuesday: Some Notes on Full Spectrum
I’m not sure if I’ll return to this story anytime soon, so I thought I’d share a little about what I wish I had done differently, and what I might do if I ever continue it.
First of all, I have to confess that I basically winged it when it came to the plot. The novel on which I based the story has an incredibly elaborate universe, so I needed to figure out how to condense that. Plus, the novel was meant to be the first in a trilogy, but the latter two books have never been published, so I had to make up or gloss over a few things as I went along. Regardless, I knew I wanted seven chapters (seven colours, Seven Kingdoms etc.), so I started off with the chapter titles using idioms/sayings that fit those seven colours.
The first chapter I wrote was Chapter 4: The Grass is Always Greener (i.e. Jaime and Brienne banging in the meadows of Tarth while tripping on colour), then Chapters 1–3 after that, all while praying that the solution for Chapters 5–7 would just magically come to me. At the end of July my outline for Chapter 7 was still: LOL IDK THEY'VE FALLEN IN LOVE IN A DYSTOPIA NOW WHAT?! So there are a ton of things that I would have changed or included if I had… you know, actually planned everything properly beforehand.
Anyway, some hopes, regrets, questions, and headcanons after the cut:
What I would write assuming the current version stays as it is:
Ideally – though I seriously doubt my abilities to pull this off given the amount of anxiety I experienced regarding all the plot conundrums in this story – I would love to write a trilogy of seven-chapter stories. Seeing as the first focuses on uncovering the conspiracies, the second would involve more political manoeuvring culminating in some sort of revolution, and the third might be… post-apocalyptic? Maybe? Or at least taking place in a kind of unstable version of the new social order.
The second act would also involve a Stoneheart plot, once they make contact with the resistance. This would explore how the Starks’ Purple perception was taken away, and what they know about the Wildfire Protocol.
Along those lines, I’d probably need to figure out J and B’s relationship arcs for the second and third acts. I suppose the most straightforward would be to have her pregnant for the second part, and there’s a time jump in the third part so they already have at least one kid.
I am toying with the idea of writing that epistolary interlude I mentioned at the end of the story. The fic would be entirely composed of sexy letters between Jaime and Brienne while she’s on Tarth (perhaps she’s stuck there for a month or two), but Jaime reveals some of what’s happening with the Council and she discusses what she’s found out from the Stark girls. I was even thinking of hiding the sensitive information in the sexy stuff – code, invisible ink, something like that – so each letter between them might actually have a second letter embedded in it.
I really love the idea of the Wildfire swatch being ‘planted’ all over King’s Landing, not to “burn them all”, but rather as a mass exposure of everyone to the Wildfire Protocol and the ability to see in natural colour. I don’t know how this could be done safely, given the addictive qualities of colour and the general chaos this would cause, but I like the subversion of canon!Wildfire. It might be the grand gesture to trigger a revolution.
*sigh* I might have to write about Shae betraying them. It’s why I tried to be careful to mention that there is hardly any way for her to know that the Stark girls are the Stark girls (it’s not like she can see Sansa’s red hair anyway), even though they stayed at her house for a couple of nights. It’s just so I could keep them protected if I have to.
Now, here’s some parallels with canon that I would make space for if I overhauled the story and turned it into a longfic:
I’d find a way to do Enemies to Lovers instead of Strangers to Lovers. My fics tend to work with the latter, so I’d want to challenge myself in that way. It’ll give me more time to develop the characters and the world as well. In that vein:
I would want to figure out a way for Jaime to be known as the Kingslayer or some equivalent, which would establish animosity between him and Brienne from the get-go. Also:
I would actually write in some form of twincest, though this would likely have ended by the time Cersei marries Robert. The idea of Jaime and Cersei having the exact same Purple perception and seeing the world in the same way (and differently from everyone else) is really ripe for exploring their dynamic and how it became toxic. It’s possible that this dynamic never became (fully) sexual, given the fact that the Colour Perception Test can also function as a kind of rough paternity test, but I think it would make for some great dialogue between Jaime and Brienne as he confronts that past. (I really wanted to write this back when I was planning for this story to switch between Brienne’s POV and Jaime’s, but it became clear that I wouldn’t be able to resolve this comfortably in seven chapters, since I prefer to give the characters time to process.)
By extension, I’m thinking about what it means to “see the world with the same eyes” – and how in canon, Cersei and Brienne are meant to be mirrors of Jaime in vastly different ways. There’s a lot to mine there in terms of Colour Perception (the vision one is born with) vs. World View (the values one cultivates). There’s also some space here for thinking about beauty as being seen vs. the act of looking.
JAIME’S GODDAMN HAND. I never explained how he lost his fingers because… I don’t know. I assume in some kind of accident during one of his scrap colour expeditions. But since its loss is so symbolic in canon, I would want to find a proper parallel for this. Perhaps he loses an eye instead?
And here’s elements from the original novel (Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde) that I would expand upon:
I’d need to better explain the Chromatic Hierarchy and how it works within the context of a feudal system. Or at least have it make more sense in my head. In the original novel, I think it was intentionally meant to be rotational in some way so certain families couldn’t centralise power for more than a few generations, but perhaps I’ll need to tweak it further to make it fit Westeros.
The original novel had a ‘central government’ called National Colour, which I replaced with the Ultraviolet Council without really having a clue how that might work. Are they a fully functioning government with a civil service? How does that work with a pseudo-feudal system – local/state and central/federal governments?
I might also want to expand on the merit system, which has much higher stakes in the original novel – if you lose enough merits, you’re sent to Reboot (thus far unexplained in the source material). It’s a means of regulating behaviour that I chose to push to the background, but I think there’s potential here for Brienne to lose faith in a ‘moral code’. Reboot could also be the official story for why the Starks were pushed out, rather than relying on the ‘diluted Purple’ narrative.
On that note, I should probably delve a bit more into how scrap colour works, and the whole economy surrounding it. In the original novel, it’s implied that scrap is basically artificially-coloured relics/trash from the past world (our world).

Fosterson Fic Rec Masterlist: Multichapters
Tumblr media
The Main Reclist has been split to fix the links that tumblr decided to break if there were too many of them in a single post. I’ll be keeping the main reclist updated (even if the links appear broken) as well as maintaining this list and the list for oneshots.
I need help expanding this list! If you have any favorites or fics of your own of your own you don’t see included in this list and you’d like to submit for consideration, please drop me a line.
List updated April 2020. New additions marked with **
Updated during this wild quarantined time, which should serve as a reminder to everyone to APPRECIATE YOUR CONTENT CREATORS! Leave all the comments and kudos to show our love for everything they do. Big thanks to everyone who recommended and/or created content for this amazing ship.
Rated G/K-K+
**The World has Turned and Left Me Here by alwaysaprilia: Jane Foster’s mission is impossible: build a wormhole, save the world. Thor Odinson thinks his task is even more impossible: keep Jane Foster alive long enough for her to accomplish her mission. AKA: What-to-do-when-the-damsel-in-distress-keeps-distressing-you. Rec: This is such a lovely little AU fic, brings in such an expansive world so succinctly and smoothly. | 16k | In progress
**Unspoken by igi_pigi: Post bringing his brother back to Asgard from Midgard, Thor is told by Heimdall that Jane Foster has decided to stop looking for him. [Set after Avengers1.] Rec: Angsty, with some nice Frigga content. | 4.8k | Complete
**Overlapping Spaces by khilari, Persephone_Kore: Thor returns to Earth a month after the Chitauri invasion to keep his promises -- to see Jane again, and take her to see Asgard, even if the rainbow bridge is still undergoing repairs. Not that Jane is complaining about watching the repairs. But she wasn't expecting Loki to be haunting the palace library, even in psychiatric care; and Loki wasn't expecting to make friends with Thor's mortal girlfriend. Rec: If you’re looking for a good, long Jane-centric fic that also features endgame fosterson, a well written Loki, and really interesting take on Asgardian culture, this is the fic for you. | 107k | Complete
IW Coda by hariboowrites: THOR AND JANE FOCUSED CODA TO IW bc i am who i am. Rec: We all need a fosterson followup to Infinity War, and this one has an ending that made me scream internally with excitement. Make this the opening of the next Avengers movie pls. | ~4k | Complete
Five Times Jane Was Kinda Jealous And One Time Thor Was by shinyopals: ‘Hello, Jane,’ said Thor. He gave her a smile that would move mountains and definitely still made her stomach flutter. ‘This is Rachael and Amanda. They wished to give their regards for my help during the Convergence. Although of course without you we would have been hopeless.’ He turned back to Rachael and Amanda. ‘This is my dear friend Dr Jane Foster, of whom I was speaking.’ Dear friend? Jane blinked. They’d been sleeping together for a couple of weeks and had had a slightly awkward conversation to establish where they stood with each other (what Jane called dating exclusively and Thor called a courtship). “Friend”, however “dear”, seemed a bit of an understatement. Sometimes dating a gorgeous world-saving alien prince has its drawbacks. Rec: BURY ME AND HAVE THIS JEALOUSY FIC PRINTED ON MY TOMBSTONE. I usually don’t like the toxicity most jealousy fics are infused with, but this one is so pure and wonderful. I could read it every damn day. | 14k | Complete
The Arizona Banana Famine by Niobium: Thor experiences the simpler side of Earth. Rec: Absolutely hilarious. Thor + shenanigans of living on Earth and trying to hide his identity + Jane helping him to varying effect. | 7k | Complete
Non Est Ad Astra Mollis e Terris Via (there is no easy way from the earth to the stars) by Rozilla: Jane Foster keeps out of social media mostly, but does keep a blog for all things science. With a few personal posts thrown in. Edited (with sarcastic asides) by Darcy Lewis. Rec: Fosterson is mentioned often, but Jane’s voice is incredibly worthwhile. | 10.4k | Complete
Hidden resonances by kes: After the vision Wanda Maximoff gave him, Thor had more questions than answers, and so he sought truth with Jane, in a cave beneath the mountains. Rec: A really great fix-it taking place during AOU, plus some fosterson feels. | 6k | Complete
Time and Trouble by shinyopals: Frigga thinks she knows exactly what to expect from the rest of her life. Then one son perishes and returns, whilst the other falls for a mortal woman who’s like nothing Frigga could have predicted.(Frigga’s POV from the end of Thor right through to post-TDW.) Rec: BLESS ALL FRIGGA-CENTRIC FICS. Great outside perspective fosterson, plus a TDW fix-it. | 14k | Complete
If You Want To Live series by hariboo: They lost Loki when they sunk Manhattan. Three years laters Loki finds them and that’s really when everything begins. This is that beginning. Rec: Terminator fusion AU that you didn’t realize you needed until now. Knowledge of the Terminator films is helpful but not required. The 'needing each other’ that comes along with a desperate post-apocalyptic situation really lends itself well to fosterson. It also hurts a hell of a lot. I wish it wasn’t finished. | 5k | Complete
Fabulous Baking Sisters or How to (not) Get Over A Norse God in 730 Days by Rozilla: After seeing Jane in a slump one too many times, Darcy decides to get her into stress baking… and soon regrets it. Rec: A lot of Jane/Darcy brotp, but lots of fosterson goodness especially near the end. The phrase “sex coma” is definitely used. | 8.5k | Complete
Waking Ease by Salmon_Pink: Thor/Jane, rated G. Set after Thor: The Dark World. Written for Comic Drabbles, prompt "halo”. Rec: very, very short, but cute. This is a part of a larger series by this author, but this is the only fosterson chapter I’ve seen so far. | <1k | In progress
Hold the Sun by writerblocked: Thor and Jane (and everyone else) share a meal. Rec: A nice peek into regular life, complete with some touches of angst and fluff at the same time. This story, like the above rec, is a part of a larger work that does not solely include fosterson. | <1k | Complete
If She Is Worthy by Mr. Chaos: During the battle with The Destroyer, Mjolnir returns to Thor’s hand. But what if Selvig hadn’t pulled Jane away? And what if it wasn’t just Thor that had proven himself worthy? Rec: Jane kicking ass and taking names with Mjolnir. Nuff said. Downside? A giant twist at the end and still waiting for a sequel. | 4.5k | Complete
A Story of Us by me: Short and sweet prompt fills. All feature Thor and Jane as the main couple and are all just ridiculous fluff. Rec: A collection of my prompt fills from tumblr. It wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 26.2k | In progress
Rated T
The Foster Edition series by asoulofstars, MissChrisDaae: What happens when Jane Foster is in the Battle of Manhattan? In short, it changes everything. Rec: FIXING MARVEL WITH JANE FOSTER IS THE BEST, NAY, THE ONLY SOLUTION I WILL ACCEPT. | 60k | In progress
Game Changer by asoulofstars, MissChrisDaae: In the aftermath of the Convergence, Jane and Thor return to Earth in search of the scepter, and the Avengers slowly begin to reassemble. Across the cosmos and on Earth itself, enemies begin to gather, enemies that threaten everything the team has ever fought for, and Jane is faced with something just as daunting, but far more personal. Evolving from a mortal to a goddess. From a spectator to a player. From a scientist to a queen. Rec: A fluffy setup for something big, I can feel it. | 8k | In progress
A Magical Solution to the Einstein Field Equations by shinyopals: Jane Foster has got enough on her plate, what with being a full time researcher, giving lectures, applying for grants, writing books, and consulting for Stark Industries. When Thor drops off the face of the universe and leaves her on Earth with no clues as to where he is, she doesn’t know what to do or how to find him. Then an attack on Stark Industries changes everything, and she finds herself getting thrown into a life that she’s previously only watched from the sidelines, and where getting punched through a wall is suddenly just an average day of the week. Rec: THE MOST PERFECT RAGNAROK AU TO EVER EXIST ANYWHERE EVER. EASILY ONE OF MY FAVORITE FICS OF ALL TIME. | 56k | Complete
Ace in the Hole by MissChrisDaae: Working alongside Selvig on Project PEGASUS, Jane manages to escape when Loki arrives, bringing with her the data on the Tesseract, and making herself SHIELD's biggest resource in combating the rogue trickster. At least until her semi-boyfriend finally makes good on his promise to come back, and she finds herself caught in the middle of a war. And she might be a key part in stopping it. Rec: MOAR JANE IN THE AVENGERS. MOAR JANE BEING VALUED IN THE MCU. MOOOOAAAAAR. | 11.5k | Complete | Part of The Foster Edition series
Wild Card by MissChrisDaae: Separation is, for Thor and Jane, a little easier in knowing what's happening to each other, but they have their own trials to face. In the midst of a war, Thor learns of a force greater than anything he has ever faced, one that could change the fates of both himself and and the woman he loves. Nothing is certain, and the burdens of his family, his life, and his love are weighing heavily upon him. Working with Betty Ross, Jane works to understand the secrets of the universe, unaware of the fact that she's being tested with every move she makes. When she temporarily moves to look after her mother's house in London, she and Darcy come across the Convergence. And, for the third time, Jane's life is turned upside down by an ancient force from another realm. Rec: Canon divergent Fosterson is my freakin JaaaaAAAAm. Also BETTY ROSS. A great replacement for canon if you’re feeling Salty. | 33k | In progress | Part of The Foster Edition series
Dancer in the Dark by MissChrisDaae: Jane Foster has always been a member of the corps de ballet, and has never voiced complaint until one night when she indulges in the fantasy of being the prima ballerina. A mysterious voice calls out to her, tempting her, coaching her, offering to make her a star, and she accepts. Months later, the prophecy comes to light when the star of the company becomes mysteriously indisposed. Jane is suddenly cast into the spotlight, becoming an immediate success, but she only has eyes for Thor, the young scion to the ballet's greatest patron family, who has been masquerading as a stagehand in order to continue a longstanding liaison with her. But Jane's made a deal with something far worse than the devil, and now he's coming to claim his due. Rec: A ballet AU that reminds me a lot of Black Swan tone-wise. Warning though, there is a love triangle that includes Lokane. | 9.6k | In progress
Five Times Having An Alien Prince's Baby Sucked A Lot, And One Time It Didn't by shinyopals: It was the doctor’s turn to look nonplussed. ‘Dr Foster,’ she said quietly, ‘you’re around four weeks pregnant.’ ‘No I’m not,’ said Jane again. She was pretty sure she’d remember if Thor had reappeared for some awesome sex a month ago. He had not. She’d gotten through enough batteries to prove it. Jane isn't quite sure how this all happened. She just knows it's a lot of work and it keeps taking her away from her Physics. Rec: The Definitive™ Fosterson babyfic. I’m generally not much for babyfic because I’m not much for babies. But I’ve read this so many times and it’s so incredibly wonderful. | 24k | Complete
Strange Earth series by Niobium: The apocalypse has come and gone, leaving the Earth strange and altered in its wake. What was once a thriving world of magic and science has become a tractless, untamed Wilderness teeming with dangerous creatures born of warped energy pouring through rents in the fabric of space and time. Society has withdrawn into magically-walled Wards to keep itself safe as it seeks a way to reclaim the planet before it’s twisted beyond all recognition, and its Seers and Champions struggle to protect humanity and one another. Rec: An incredibly imaginative ghost hunting AU. Great world building, and fantastic interaction between Jane and Thor. | 12.6k | In progress
The Obloquy of Newness by Niobium: Jane just wants to present her findings and maybe win a Nobel Prize. That would be a lot easier if all these xenophobes, science deniers, and robots bent on world destruction would stop getting in the way. Or, Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis, and what they were up to before, during, and after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Rec: A really delightful companion to AOU. | 17.4k | Complete
Sex Ed For Asgardians (Isn’t Exactly Necessary) by shinyopals: 'It’s a condom,’ Jane said eventually, reminding herself she was an adult in an adult relationship, albeit a very new one with an alien forty times her age who could hardly be expected to know what Earth birth control was like. Jane and Pepper learn that some myths and legends are true. Rec: I have no idea why this wasn’t on the reclist before. It’s hilarious and also really heartfelt. I love Respectfulinthebedroom!Thor. I love the open communication between them. Lawd. | 3.4k | Complete
Pedulum: Beginning by hariboo: Kept apart, with worlds between them, Jane and Thor do not give up on one day finding each other again. Rec: Exquisite buildup to a reunion. Both Jane and Thor are in-character with their own agency, but its obvious they’re nuts for each other. | 28.5k | Complete | Part of in progress series, Pendulum
Pendulum: Between by hariboo: Having found each other again doesn’t mean things have gotten easier for Thor and Jane. In some ways things are only getting more complicated. At least now they can face whatever comes their way together. Rec: Continiation of Beginning (recced above). Nuanced, sweet, messy, fantastic character dynamics, and with a great plot. | 56.8k | Complete | Part of in progress series, Pendulum
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Guardians of the Galaxy by Maybug: Jane Foster and Thor are finally getting married! Most couples go a little crazy when they’re ecstatically happy, unfortunately for these two going crazy involves knocking a hole in spacetime and marooning themselves and two of Jane’s friends on a desolate and dangerous planet halfway across the galaxy. Meanwhile Darcy, Sif and Bill are trying to find them in Skuttlebutt. Will they survive? Will they make it to the wedding in time? Will Thor’s attempts to communicate with Groot drive everyone crazy? Will Darcy get to witness Jane’s brief Goth phase? Will Jane’s friend Sayed get over his Star-Trek inspired fantasies about green-skinned alien women? Find out in the next exciting installment of Journey into Mishap! Rec: Part of a really great series by a great author. Humorous and kind of cracky. Mixture of MCU and comic canon. Just one chapter short of completion. | 12.7k | In progress | Part of Journey into Mishap and the Fosterson Files
Welcome to the Fall by Niobium: The Avengers pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Sokovia. Inter- and post-film gap-fillers and ficlets, with varying POV characters. A couple of them are slightly canon divergent and will be labeled as such. Rec: A really solid piece of prose, careful of canon while building upon it/improving it. The fosterson is handled really well. | 5.5k | Complete
The House of Foster by ArticulatioHumeri: She had set out to study wormholes. Never would Jane Foster have thought that it would lay the foundations of a family clan. Rec: Great fosterson moments, and with proper time devoted to them. A good, long read. Probably the longest fic I have on this list, and the longest Marvel fic that actually legitimately features Fosterson prominently. | 224k | Complete
The Measure of a Man by fayedartmouth: Thor is banished to Earth. Reclaiming his worth is harder than he thinks it will be. AU of the movie Thor. Rec: By now, y’all know I love fics where Thor was on Earth longer than in canon. This is probably my favorite, because Thor is incredibly well-written, and the cultural/personal struggles he encounters are written fantastically. The fosterson is incredibly organic and lovely. | 140.7k | Complete
Towards the Storm by iwillavengeyou: Jane Foster is worthy. Jane Foster is the Mighty Thor. But was she always this way? This fic seeks to examine Jane’s path to picking up the mighty hammer Mjolnir, and her journey as a heroine who, underneath it all, is only human. Rec: One of the few fics I’ve been able to find and enjoy that deals with Jane’s place as Thor in the 616 universe. I like the story’s trajectory, but it has since been orphaned. If anyone wants to... ya know... pick it up... that’d be swell. | 1.5k | In progress
As You Wish by MissChrisDaae: After the apparent death of the only man she will ever love, Jane finds herself the unwilling bride-to-be of the kingdom’s icy hearted crown prince, whose interest in her is almost as unnerving as the man himself. Before the wedding can take place, Jane finds herself in the hands of three kidnappers, her life in danger, and a mysterious figure in black pursuing them. Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Revenge. Giants. Monsters. Chases. Escapes. True love. Miracles. What more does a story need? Rec: THE PRINCESS BRIDE FUSION THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED UNTIL NOW. Also Sif is Indigo Montoya. If the fosterson wasn’t enough to get you to read it. | 21.3k | Complete
Girls’ Night by Maybug: With Thor in Asgard and the other Avengers away on a mission, Darcy, Betty, Pepper and Jane decide to have a girls’ night. A certain supervillain has other plans, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. Rec: fosterson is background, but you all know I can’t resist a good Marvel ladies asskicking story. Story is mostly from Jane’s POV, so good insights on fosterson. | 11.2k | In progress
Thor 2 Rewritten: The Shaded Tree by kes: Rec: A series of oneshots and short multichapters that rewrite the second Thor movie. Not everything is over fosterson, but it’s always an undercurrent. Worth the read. Such a great alternative to canon. | 44k | Incomplete, abandoned
don’t need no ammunition (ain’t the bridge that’s falling down) by anthropologicalhands: Thor (2011) AU. After the battle at Jotunheim, something goes wrong and Sif finds herself stranded on Midgard. Jane is still chasing bridges and wants to know how this strange woman got in her atmospheric disturbance. Darcy’s psyched…and a little freaked out. Meanwhile, Thor and Loki embark on an quest (actually: intergalactic road trip) to rescue Sif. Thor has to prove himself. Loki is having an identity crisis. Do the math. Rec: Great interactions with everyone. Jane and Thor are still absolutely smitten despite the different circumstances. Loki/Sif is also a main pairing. | 39k | Complete
Fate Has Brought Us Together by asoulofstars: A series of one-shots detailing the lives of Thor Odinson and Jane Foster. Set after the events of Thor: The Dark World. Rec: We all know I’m a sucker for fosterson fluffies. The chapters are generally short and sweet. Read for smiles and butterflies and rainbow puking. | 9.9k | In progress
We Have Joyed To Be Forlorn by Niobium: Jane Foster’s life carries on in the wake of the Convergence, complete with exciting new research prospects, a displaced and grieving alien, considerations on the functionality of magic, and massive shakeups in world espionage. Or, The continuing adventures of Jane Foster, from the end of Thor: The Dark World to just after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Rec: What it says on the tin. I highly recommend reading anything by this author. Both Jane and Thor are done justice to, beautifully. Lots of cutesy Fosterson that feels very real and not just like a fangirl threw up on a page. Really a gorgeous story. | 13.8k | Complete
Rowing in Eden by ancarett: The Bifrost is no longer broken but is becoming unpredictable: delivering its travellers far afield. With Midgard’s link to Asgard at risk, Jane and Thor have to restore stability to the wormhole or risk being separated forever. Rec: Jane and Thor doing science together and being cute together. Features all the Avengers. | 34.5k | Complete
Fundamental Forces by nayanroo: In an attempt to rein in the son that remains to her after Thor’s banishment, Frigga arranges a marriage between two old friends in the hopes that they can work together to heal an eroded realm. On Earth, a prince searches for identity after his world is turned upside-down. And in the darkness, something stirs. Rec: mostly a Loki/Sif pairing story, but there is enough fosterson to give a rec. Even if it wasn’t, I’d still rec it somewhere else. One of the most well-thought out stories I’ve read (part of an amazing series, which contains gratuitous fosterson) with incredible characterizations. Great plot, monstrous word counts in chapters. | 181k | Complete | Part of in progress series, The Kingsverse
When the Stars Fall Up by Nyxelestia: Loki is not so foolish as to let his pride get in the way of his plans. And Thor learns there is a lot more to being a king than being brave. Rec: Despite a Loki-heavy intro, we get some good Jane/Thor in the second chapter. It’s incomplete, and hasn’t been update in a long time, but I feel like it is going somewhere good if it is continued. | 7.3k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Watchtower by me: When research on the Tesseract begins, SHIELD recruits Jane Foster instead of Eric Selvig to harness the other-worldly artifact. When Loki raids the facility, he takes over the mind of the mortal woman his brother loves. The Avengers with Jane Foster in Eric Selvig’s place. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. (although tbh I’m tempted to take this off the rec list because I hate the way I wrote it so much XD) | 56k | Complete
Let Me Follow You Down by me: Jane is sick of her family always pushing her towards a relationship. She thinks she’s figured out the perfect solution. Fake Dating AU. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 24k | Complete
Rebuild All Your Ruins by me: Ragnarok AU. Despite his hunt for the Infinity Stones taking him far beyond Jane’s galaxy, Thor had always managed to get word to her that he was safe. When months pass without any word from him, Lady Sif arrives with a dire message: Thor has gone missing, Heimdall has been removed from his post as Gatekeeper, and the Warriors Three wonder if their king is truly Odin. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 11.2k | In progress, slow updates because it’s me and I’m garbage
Rated M (these won’t contain the smuts unless otherwise noted)
**Stalemate by igi_pigi: "It appears we're at a stalemate, Miss Foster." He meets her eyes at last with his bloodshot ones. "My association with you will continue to doom you with mortal dangers at every turn. And you will continue to inexplicably not hold me blameworthy for it." (Alternatively, how it should have been instead of how it was in Thor3.) [Well after Thor2.] Rec: PAIN. LOTS OF IT. Contains some smut | 8.7k | Complete
Symbiosis: Part I by SteeleHoltingOn: Jane and Thor have to decide if they can make their relationship work. She’s a scientist. He’s a prince. It’s the ultimate of long-distance relationships. It seems that Odin isn’t (wasn’t?) the only Asgardian who is unhappy with Thor’s fascination with Jane. Rec: An amazing look at Thor and Jane post-Dark World building their relationship, as well as all the pitfalls and heartache that comes with that. This author really plunges their hands into the nitty gritty problems with Jane and Thor, their cultural differences, their age/lifespan difference, and so on, yet it is still clear how much they love each other and their determination to make it work. | Contains some smut, but nothing very explicit | 92.5k | Complete
Symbiosis: Part II by SteeleHoltingOn: Loki ascends the throne of Jotunheim. He might have been lonely, but for the little hitchhiker in his head. Thor and Jane have their hands full with their daughter, Val, and the demands of Asgard and the Nine Realms. Rec: A lot of Loki, but also copious amounts of married Fosterson. As someone who isn’t always Loki’s biggest fan, especially when it comes to fan portrayals, I can say that this one is very true to canon and is an incredibly interesting read, and is balanced well with Jane and Thor-ness. The political drama is done very well. The plot planning seems meticulous and is absolutely admirable. I still have the same praise for it as its predecessor. | Contains some smut | 41.4k | Complete
Terrestrial Constellations by NightOwl360: For Jane and Darcy bringing Thor back to Earth is only the beginning of the adventure. Relationships are never easy, the past is always just a step behind, and sometimes the people we know best have the biggest secrets. Rec: Great characterization of Jane and Thor, and fabulous buildup until they meet again. Packed with not just fluff, some inevitable angst, as well as an intriguing storyline. Only downside: I’m pretty sure it’s been abandoned, and on a hell of a cliff hanger. | 78k | In progress, possibly abandoned
The Poetic Edda (was almost entirely wrong) by PhoenixVictoria: In Which: Thor is from a warrior culture (and Jane Foster understands); Loki is badass (but also kind of a puppy); Thor grows a pair and fixes his mistakes (and is a good brother); Loki is a slut (and is a good brother when he has no knives); Darcy Lewis is The Geek Whisperer (which really turns Loki on); And the Odinsons have no idea how to act in front of the media (and wouldn’t care if they did.) Rec: Almost entirely for Thor. He is so well-written in this. Loki and Thor fixing the damage they’ve done, and Jane being a great person. I love this so far (it is a WIP). Later chapters make Tasertricks a thing, so a heads up if you’re not into that ship. | Contains some smut, graphic imagery of torturing/punishment | 81k | In progress, possibly abandoned
One and the Same Thing by MissChrisDaae: Jane Foster is born to the bloodline of the Alchemysts, and the first woman to be inducted into the order. After the murder of her mentor, Jane becomes the first Alchemyst to mix the study of alchemy with that of magic, trying to enhance the art and find a way to avenge him. This is seen as bastardizing the craft, and she is cast out of the order, still working her craft as she wanders the realm. Forbidden from using the title of Alchemyst, Jane instead calls herself Ástkona Óþekktur, a Mistress of the Unknown. On her travels, she picks up an apprentice in Darcy Lewis and the two women meet another very unusual pair: the crown prince, Thor, and his foster brother, Loki, on the run from Amora, the sorceress who murdered Thor’s father and usurped the throne, the same woman who killed Jane’s teacher. Finding common ground, the four agree to join forces in taking down the Enchantress. Even if Jane won’t admit it, she finds herself drawn to the older prince, and Thor seems to be returning her affections, much to the annoyance of Loki, who sees the Ástkona Óþekktur as an unneeded distraction from what matters. If they win the war, there may still be something left to lose. Rec: You can see by the description that this is way AU. Incredibly imaginative, with a good characterization of Jane. | 33k | Complete
The Salt Skin by hariboo: One day Sif walks to the edge of the Bifrost to see compelled to see where Loki had fallen. At the same time Jane is testing a way to open the Bifrost. By accident Sif falls to Earth, what happens after she never would have expected, and then she finds Loki. Post-film. Rec: I can’t believe I haven’t recced this yet. A long, Sif-centric fic that is respectful to fosterson is hard to find, but this one hits all my must haves. Jane and Thor are beautiful idiots, and the outside view of their relationship is great. Very well-written. Loki/Sif is also very prominently featured. | 44.4k | Complete
Off The Grid by Shawn30: As stated by Phil Coulson in 'Agents of Shield’ episode 1-15, "Thor is currently off the grid.” So the question is, where are Thor, Jane, Darcy, and Eric post 'The Dark World’? Rec: This person was one of my FAVORITE fic authors of all time because of their Star Wars fics, and then THEY WRITE A FOSTERSON STORY. I was over the damn moon. There’s a unique take of all the characters, and there’s promise of really great things coming from this story. This fic would be a wise investment. Only problem is that sometimes their fics have very slow updates. Contains some smut | 15k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Lost in a World Full of Terrors by psychollama: Inspired by typhoidcandy - “After Darcy attempts to perform one of Loki’s spells, things go awry and she’s sent to another universe. In this medieval-like universe, Loki is King, Thor is banished and living in the forests, and Jane is an arrow wielding rebel. Can Darcy make it home before the real Loki finds out what she did? Or before medieval Loki captures her and either kills her or makes her his slave?” Rec: A different take on a medieval AU. The first and only chapter is very fosterson-centric, and sets up the action nicely. Jane and Thor are handled very well in the different context. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been updated since 2013, so I fear it has been abandoned. |4.4k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Stop All The Clocks series by Della19: Rec: NOT fosterson centric. This series is, I think, the first thing I read on AO3, and I was blown away. This person has constructed a great world around Supersoldier!Peggy Carter, and I rec the whole series, as the world and the characters are all vibrant and well-rounded. The stories, while connected, can easily be read as standalones. The fosterson, when it’s a larger focus, is absolutely lovely. | 49k | In progress
Rain Upon the Ashes by me: Medieval Fantasy AU. An ancient evil threatens Yggdrasil. An illegitimate heir sits upon the throne of Asgard, and an unknown menace seeks to destroy the Royal Family. Thor Odinson, true heir to the throne and banished years before, emerges as one of the leaders of the Rebellion, further endangering his family. Known publicly only as the Raven, Jane Foster, once a high-born Lady of Midgard, finds herself fighting a war when she once only desired to see the stars. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 33k | In progress, slow updates because it’s me and I’m garbage
Rated E (these will contain the smuts unless otherwise noted)
The Secret of Mind and Memory by capitainpistol: Jane and Thor wake up to an empty Asgard and zero memory of their pasts or each other. PWP. Rec: The Amesiacs Who Are Instinctually Drawn to Each Other AU that I never knew I needed in my life. I can’t wait to see how it ends. | 2k | In progress
Love in a Time of Tentacles (or How We Hired Out Our Sex Parts To Tentacle Monsters in Exchange for Remaining in Space) by Rozilla: Jane and Thor’s ship is left drifting in space and the only option is to take up the offer of a Bio-Engineering corporation to submit their bodies to science. Science in this case being mostly tentacles. It’s a good thing Jane’s into this sort of thing. Rec: I hope you’re into wild space porn because that is exactly what this is. Woop woop. Mind the warnings. | 13.2k | Complete
Edging Towards the Light by Shawn30: Thor and Jane navigate the treacherous relationship waters of ambition, duty, passion, and love. Rec: SMUT WITH PLOT YUM. A unique but plausible take on Fosterson. | 30k | In progress
Play Along Prisoner by Rozilla: You’re so used to being not listened to, put down, doubted and generally made to feel worthless when you work twice as hard as everyone else, sometimes you need a hobby like this one. Especially when you have such a willing participant. Rec: AU, Domme!Jane and Sub!Thor. Mmmmyes. Mind the warnings. | 15.3k | In progress
For The Days Inbetween by Simple.White.Lie: Heroes are seldom allowed happiness, and far too often Duty comes before Love. That only means he must fight even harder for that which he desires. Rec: While it isn’t always the prime example of great writing, this fic is still very good. It is a long multichapter which features gratuitous smut (hurrah!) while still maintaining good plot. Jane and Thor’s ups and downs as a couple are well written, and if you’re a sucker for married Fosterson, check this one out. | 79k | Complete
On the Outside by Simple.White.Lie: The King and Queen of Asgard are not prepared for the dish Fate has served for them. To be tossed out like a ship in the wind is more than their hearts can take. Their love is something to fight for.. Isn’t it? Rec: Sequel to For The Days Inbetween (recced above). Both stories feature a very strong Jane, which is a big plus. Again, while the writing isn’t always stellar, it is a worthwhile read. | 33k | Complete
Thor Pwns Walmart by charis2770: Jane and Thor have found a way to be together at last. It’s all she could have wished for, and then some. But it’s playing heck on her worldly possessions! Jane takes Thor shopping at Wal Mart so she can replace all the things which have been torn or broken during their reunion. And buy more pop tarts. This turns out to be an adventure. And hotter than you might think. Rec: Okay, holy high heavens this story is well done. The author does BDSM amazingly, and I recommend their other stories, too. Mind the warnings. Also, if BDSM isn’t your thing, I still recommend the bits in between the smut because it is hilarious and perfect. | 35k | Complete
Stealing Away by charis2770: This is what happens when the Black Widow puts herself in charge of planning a weekend getaway for four friends, three of whom happen to be Super Heroes, and one of whom has an unfortunate tendency to be a little hard on Midgardian buildings. Rec: a continuation of Thor Pwns Walmart, and also features a good deal of BDSM Clint/Natasha. This author remains a good example of how to properly write good BDSM. Mind the warnings. Also, if BDSM isn’t your thing, I still recommend the bits in between the smut because it is hilarious and perfect. | 30.4k | Complete

How do u created hate u girl? :o
AW YEAH, TIME TO MAKE A LOOOONG POST WITH ILLUSTRATIONS!!!!
All my stories begin with me creating a main character and then building a world around them. Same with HUGirl, but it was a liiiiittle bit funnier. In the beginning Diana was just... well, me.
Thhhat right, the original design of Diana and her character herself is how I used to draw myself back in 2016, when I first started calling myself FishyMom!
I drew myself in Ford Pines’ (from Gravity Falls, yes) outfit and with gills, because I was in Undertale fandom and I was in loooove with Undyne. I used to have a group chat with my friends who also liked Undertale and at some point they started calling me FishyMom, because I was bossy, caring and had gills, apparently.
Tumblr media
This design, as well as the nickname, stuck with me for a long time. At some point, I decided to make a character out of this design.
I called her Ford. You know. Because of the obvious thing XD. But I didn’t have a world for her yet.
Then I had a lot of things going on. In around 2014-2015 I was going to write two books about this world called Mirror World or Mirror Side. Some kind of shadows, who were assigned to you since your birth, would lead you into this world if you were unhappy. Mirror World has everything you ever wanted to have, creates a wonderful, flawless life and... brainwashes you completely into hailing the king of this world who harvests your powers to break out of the Mirror World and conquer the other side???? aka Magical Cult Kingdom, nothing else to say.
Ford was going to be a right-hand-man of the king and had his mark on her face which meant that he sees through her eyes. But I never finished the book (in fact, I tried rewriting it 3 times and did not succeed) and didn’t really know how to put Ford in, since I already had a hecking lot of characters who were much more important to the story than she was. But she was still kinda there in the story.
(btw, the king’s name was Gaskard, which is Alex Gaskarth’s (vocalist of All Time Low) name written wrong. I didn’t know it was his name, my classmates were joking around when they said it when I was asking for a villain’s name. I was on their concert in 2017 uwu)
Tumblr media
I was thinking about a sequel of the book at the same moment as I was still not writing the first one XD. And now it gets interesting.
In the first book, there had to be this girl, who was one of main character’s young sister and student. The second book was going to be about her and her twin brother. Her name was Elizabeth.
The first picture is Elizabeth with her twin-brother, Noelle and second picture is the old Elizabeth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of things later, I decided to get rid of the story and make a whole new story for a sequel. But I was still left with Elizabeth. And I made her Ford. (and I made Noelle her sister instead of brother I guess...)
At this point, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted Ford to be a scientist. I wanted her to be a warrior. I wanted her to be the characters I was inspired by when I was creating her. And I knew the story I was going to give her.
But I still didn’t have a world. And I still didn’t have a name.
And then I did a thing
There was a blog on Tumblr before hate-u-girl that had something to do with Ford. And I posted comics there. And you could or could not have seen at least one of the stupid comics I drew calling them all under the name HUGirl, which was literally Human, but a “girl” instead of “man”. And I mean this one...
Tumblr media
my eyes hurt from the art style and from tHE AMOUNT OF NOTES IT HAS. LIKE, LITERALLY, I JUST HAD TO SEARCH FOR IT, LAST TIME I SAW THIS ABOMINATION, IT HAD 3K NOTES, DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS MY MOST VIEWED ARTWORK??? MY LEGACY???? [heavy breathing] IS IT BECAUSE I TAGGED ZUTARA THERE??? IS THIS WHY?????
- ok, screaming aside XD
Yup! That was Ford! And there was also Huboy, who then went on to be Robert! (hoooo boi....). They were partners right from the beginning!!!!
And I finally started drawing the actual comic. THIS, everybody, is two ONLY pages that were made for the first ever try on “HUGirl” comic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, they were such babies....
The main antagonist of the comic, however, was someone fully new and someone who was also first just the way I drew myself.
Fishy Mom. Yes yes, you heard it right. Fishy Mom IS a character. That’s why at some point I asked people to call me RK (Ar-Key or, for Russians, Er-Ka), because that was a little weird. And she had to be some kind of a ruler of fully re-made Mirror World!!!
I came up with the idea of making her a villain and a separate character after I made a cover on Die House and drew her in that dress for the first time. She evolved to an entity that can transform into your biggest fears (directly or indirectly). And Ford’s greatest fear was (and still is) water and fish.
Tumblr media
Strange and unpolished, I left the first attempt and started drawing the second one, already including my baby Adelaide, who has a much bigger role than you think and I won’t be telling it. (Oh, and Robert’s lasagna appeared there too! Me and my friends made a lot of jokes about this lasagna XDDD)
Here are some of my favorite panels!
Tumblr media
“big power with a tiny apartment?”
Tumblr media
Diana and Robert were going to be a couple.
Tumblr media
it’s a toxic haze all around
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS BABY!!!
Tumblr media
+ bonus of a badass Robert.
There had to be that other character called Complete Failure who has first appeared in this animation I made. All the characters in it are “the original cast” of HUGirl and will always be. I wanted them to be the villain for some time but quickly changed my mind and put Fishy Mom back into the role of the villain. They still remained a very important character to me who you can thank for the story HUGirl is now and will be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Fishy Mom (or rather F-001 aka Fishy Good/Too Good To Be True) got a HuMan FoRm!!!! Yaaaay! Because a cartoony fish in the middle of a sci-fi post-apocalyptic drama would have been pretty weird. Btw, I have no idea at which point it turned into a post-apocalyptic comic, but I had to roll with it, because I put it as genre in WebToon and Idk if I can change it and I already came up with an excuse ahhaha.
My idea was that she put experiments and tried to create humans out of magic and science (i like that mix). This is when the “HU” in HUGirl turned into Human Urge Academy (now, Haze Unity Academy), the research academy on human life, who’s role is to create more humans because they can’t produce them the good-ol’-way anymore XD. And Diana (the “F” in the beginning of every experiment meant “Ford”, btw), alongside other characters, became a part of it and Fishy Mom became Diana’s personal nemesis, who was one of the experiments and wanted to kinda break free. It was still very weird and unpolished but I loved it. I had everything planned, from the beginning to the end and everything in the middle.
The last character I came up with was Susan Whaletaker. And she was anything but the character she is now XD. She was going to be the CEO of HUA and a pretty nice person. [turns to Susan now] NICE PERSON.
I had a lot of other thinking and writing in-between, but now I know exactly what I want to do with the story. And I have all those babes on my side uwu
Tumblr media
It’s not a full story since it would have contained a lot of spoilers, but those are all the main events hehe, thank you very much uwu
if you have any other questions, please do ask!

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power S01E07 - In the Shadows of Mystacor
Tumblr media
I'm trying to remember if Mystacor has ever been mentioned but I'm drawing a blank. The title sounds portentous enough that it makes me doubt the episode is going to be about the Ice Princess but she's the only one left so I'm guessing that's what it’s going to be about! Let's do this!
Tumblr media
...why does Bow have hearts in the soles of his shoes?
"Because I can" he'd probably say
Also, what's up with them sleeping in the wilderness? Was the technology for tents and/or shelter lost in whatever catastrophe the First Ones went through?
Tumblr media
I had this without subtitles and for a second I thought "Hey, she's having nightmares about Light Hope, maybe because of the infection?" but then I recognized the voice. Of course, the subtitles don't leave a lot of room to wonder who's talking.
Tumblr media
Sure, leave your friends and tell no one you're leaving. Great idea!
Tumblr media
That's some cute bed hair. I'm still weirdly bothered about the fact that they straight up slept on the grass. Like, it gets wet! And there are bugs!
Tumblr media
How long has she been standing there watching? It was still dark when she stood up.
Tumblr media
* gasp * Continuity~
Tumblr media
Wait, did Glimmer just tell them "let's go sleep in the woods" without telling them their destination?
Tumblr media
Oh, so there's magic beyond what the Princesses can do.
Tumblr media
...I think Castaspella takes the prize for being the most literal name in She-Ra yet.
Tumblr media
oooh, is Adora going to have problems seeing it? Drama~
As an aside, after last episode I wonder if all magic in Etheria is actually just very advanced technology from the First Ones and the entire setting of the show is post apocalyptic. That'd explain why they the princesses need to recharge in very specific circumstances instead of just sleeping it off like most wizards in most other settings.
Tumblr media
The biggest mood. I _am_ writing this during another bout of insomnia after all.
Tumblr media
ooh, plot
Tumblr media
What's Shadow Weaver's problem with Catra? Is it just "Adora's the good one daughter, you're the bad one"? Whatever it is, Catra's self value and resentment problems are 1:1 linked to that, especially considering how Shadow Weaver keeps poking at Catra's insecurities.
Tumblr media
The red rock can probably still work under the "all magic is tech" theory since Entrapta's problems were all because of a gem but I'm not so sure about the stone basin and the liquid inside.
Tumblr media
(that's a fantastic Glimmer face)
Oh. So she didn't have friends when she was growing up? She didn't seem to know the other princesses, and the castle seems to have mostly soldiers and her mom so I guess it makes sense? But still, that's sad.
Tumblr media
oh no she's a grandma
Tumblr media
So, magic definitely isn't something only Princesses can wield. Unless it's different from their powers? They do seem to have very specific powers versus what looks like these generic sparkles.
Tumblr media
It looks like Glimmer's inability to be taken seriously goes beyond her mother. That she didn't have a lot of friends feels like an important piece of that puzzle, since it could mean she was overprotected when she was a child (maybe because of the war?) and only recently she's been "acting out"
Tumblr media
I was thinking that maybe Castaspell was the other princess's mom but now I really hope she isn't. That passive aggresive personality would be incredibly toxic.
Tumblr media
I can't figure out Shadow Weaver's plan. Does she want to freak her out for some reason? Is she leading Adora somewhere (how does she know Mystacor enough to know where she wants to lead Adora?)? Hm.
Also I'm really bad at recognizing voices but Castaspella's voice reminds a bit of Shadow Weaver.
Tumblr media
oh my god I was going to write the same thing
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD I WAS KIDDING
Tumblr media
I can't believe they are exploring Glimmer's weirdly normal family issues.
Tumblr media
Welp, that'd explain how Shadow Weaver's shadowy thing knows how to move around Mysticor. How long ago was she exiled? It'd need to be at least 20~ years ago to match with her adopting Adora.
Tumblr media
Sure, _now_ they have blankets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Huh. Interesting design choice to keep Bow's chest covered. Now I'm wondering if he's trans and that's a binder.
It wouldn't be my first guess considering it's so direct and trans characters are mostly limited to background characters if at all but that quote from the showrunner about her characters being gay unless otherwise stated makes me think it could be a possibility.
Tumblr media
GLIMMER HAS WINGS
Tumblr media
Aw, the cuteness couldn't last.
Tumblr media
The design of those wings remind me a lot of the ones in Card Captor Sakura, I wonder if it's an intentional reference.
Tumblr media
Aw. Adora really has a ton of stuff to work through, huh? I'm glad they are taking the time to do it, it'd have been so easy for the writers to just let Adora cast aside everything Horde related but nope, she has a past, conflicted feelings about her "mom" and definitely some trauma.
Tumblr media
oh my god this is so wholesome. I mean, he's wrong, but still wholesome.
Tumblr media
He's such a good boy. He's even willing to accept Adora's different way to dealing with her emotions.
Tumblr media
Uuuugh, that has to be Shadow Weaver, right? A lifetime of experience manipulating Adora, she knows exactly what to say, how to gaslight her.
Tumblr media
This level of emotional manipulation is killing me. Shadow Weaver knows exactly what buttons to push, exactly what Adora fears hearing the most. And she's probably has been doing the same for years to both Adora and Catra.
Tumblr media
Welp, I hope all those crystals were not important.
Tumblr media
My heart. Glimmer did not jump to conclusions or blamed her even though she just lost a ton of credibility with her aunt. What a wholesome marshmallow.
Tumblr media
I guess someone could go and say "they are wrong because they don't believe her" but this really feels like it's completely out of their life experience so I can't blame them at all. And they are probably going to apologize once it's all clear, right? I'm not sure you can ask more from them, they have been extremely supportive.
Tumblr media
nooooo, don't do this to my heart (or Adora's) this has to be Shadow Weaver but that almost feels wrong because if she's so powerful why hasn't she done this before?
Tumblr media
uuuuuuuugh
Tumblr media
Rainbow energy~ Is She-Ra going to have to recharge the shields?
Tumblr media
yup
Tumblr media
I can't believe I'm going to say this but this almost feels out of character. Why would Shadow Weaver reveal the shadow if she's been so good about manipulating Adora so far?
Tumblr media
Aaand she's back.
Tumblr media
I'm glad they didn't leave that as a mystery. Wait, Light Spinner? Is Spinnerella a relative?
Tumblr media
I _love_ this. I mentioned how it felt like it seemed like some people (like Angela or Perfuma) cared more about She-Ra than Adora, to the point that even Adora herself seemed to prefer being She-Ra for a while and it was all on purpose!
Shadow Weaver is manipulating Adora but this is probably something that has been festering in Adora's mind for weeks and I love that it's something that's been present enough on the show to be noticeable instead of something we have to extrapolate.
Tumblr media
AAAAAAAA
I didn't expect Adora to confront all her dark mom issues and trauma so soon but this is gooood.
Tumblr media
whoa wait what, that's cheating
Tumblr media
Aren't you like one more subordinate of Lord Hordak?
Tumblr media
This is some heavy stuff that I didn't expect this show to handle.
Tumblr media
I'm going to be slightly dissapointed if that's the end of Adora's issues.
Tumblr media
she's in
Tumblr media
This is so wholesome and cute.
Tumblr media
Is it a coincidence that her gem works the same way as the distress beacon in Entrapta's castle?
Tumblr media
Nooooooo.
I feel so conflicted about Catra, she obviously has a lot of problems but after this episode I'm finding it very hard to blame her. Shadow Weaver _liked_ Adora and was horribly manipulative to her, imagine what she has been doing to Catra every day her entire life.
---
What a surprise! It's been pretty episodic so far with the introduction of the princesses so a return to the Horde and Shadow Weaver was a completely unexpected. It even included some consequences from last episode's infection!
There are a couple of things I want to talk about but before anything else, let me gush about how Bow and Glimmer are amazing friends to Adora.
When the episode starts with Adora not being in the right mood, it only takes one look from Glimmer to notice there’s something wrong with her friend after she doesn’t react to her jokes. She doesn’t get angry at Adora’s moody response, instead she tries to understand what’s going on and offers her a vacation.
While I was watching, I thought this was after returning to Bright Moon but it makes a lot more sense if they are on the trip back from Entrapta. Had Glimmer already decided to go to Mystacor or was it in response to Adora’s bad mood? In any case they really emphasize Mystacor’s healing properties because they see how much Adora needs that.
And then during their stay they never get frustrated at Adora’s increasing paranoia, instead they keep trying to help her by suggesting ways to relax.
How easy it would have been for Glimmer to give up on Adora after the third time of being rebuffed? No one would have blamed her or Bow if they got annoyed but they just keep trying. Bow even shows he listened to Adora about what she did to relax in the past and suggests it back to her after the “normal” stuff fails. And then they give her space the second Adora asks for it!
Even after Adora’s breaks the crystals in the Lunarium and seemingly kills any bit of “grown-up” credibility Glimmer may have had with her aunt, she doesn’t get angry.
I understand that there’s a reading here that could say that Glimmer and Bow are in the wrong because they didn’t trust Adora about her weird visions from the get go but I feel this was a lot more realistic. How long has been Adora with them? How much of their past do they even know? Before this episode they hadn’t heard about Shadow Weaver and that’s Adora’s _mom_. In fact, I’m sure they don’t even know who Catra is, and that’s Adora’s strongest “positive” link to the Horde.
Would _you_ believe a new friend if they started seeing shadows after a traumatic experience that affected their cognition? Or would you try to help them in the way that makes most sense to you?
I think a plot where they believe her right away could have worked as a mystery but I’m not sure I’d have liked it as much as this one.
That last scene where Adora wakes up from a nightmare and shows her new trust in Glimmer by falling sleep right away was * chef kiss *
With all my unbridled gushing out of the way, let’s talk about Shadow Weaver. It’s interesting that they took a mystery that could have worked for a multiple episode arc and then revealed it in the same episode.
If the episode had _only_ Bow’s line “Mystacor is protected by a spell so evil can’t find it” plus Shadow Weaver’s shadow hanging around it would have been enough to set up a mystery about how she wasn’t affected. A couple of episodes later they could have shown Light Spinner’s statue. And afterwards they could have confirmed it. That they took the possibility of stretching something like that for episodes and episodes makes me optimistic about the future since I assume they have much better ideas in their pocket.
What I am _not_ optimistic about is how this episode felt like it was “the one where Adora overcomes the trauma from being raised by Shadow Weaver.” She’s still dealing with nightmares by the end but it still felt very rushed in that regard. I’m hoping I’m wrong and this is just her first step.
Glimmer’s struggles in making adults take her seriously have been interesting so far. It makes me wonder what will be the event that’ll change everyone’s minds. I doubt this show will go _too_ dark but a battle their side loses because they didn’t listen to her or a battle they win only because they listened to her could work. Technically, the Princesses Alliance is that but I’m pretty sure Angella won’t care much about it until they prove themselves.
Bow is still a mystery. An extremely good boy, but a mystery. I’m hoping that Catra’s sudden focus on him will develop him more. I’m still curious if he’s intended to be read as trans but it’s a nice head canon to have if not.
Oh, and Catra. This good has been very, very good about not being black and white but Shadow Weaver’s behavior tilted the scales towards Catra being a very sympathetic but tragic figure. She may be the black sheep of Shadow Weaver’s wards but it looks like she learned the lessons SW was teaching the best, probably because she was subjected to them the most during their life.
I think that's all for now. There's still a princess left and whatever's Catra is planning so I can't wait! Until next time!

Do you remember writing a post about why you weren't worried about other romantic partners either Clarke or Bellamy had? I seem to remember you writing a very good post about not being worried about those other characters when it came to wanting Clarke and Bellamy together. If you don't remember could you tell me why it doesn't bother you when those other characters pop up. I'm trying to be less upset that a couple I'm following seem to be split up by other people lately.
I vaguely recall it. I’ve written stuff like that multiple times I think.
I am not worried about Clarke and Bellamy’s other partners because the story (or one of the main stories) of The 100 IS Bellarke. Bellarke are soulmates and it is NOT platonic, as indicated by the narrative, symbolism, cinematography, dialogue, music, even the costumes. I Bellarke were a platonic soulmate team of leaders, then the other romances (especially in s5 and 6 but also in seasons 2-4) would have been treated differently. Almost all their other partners have been compared or referenced to Bellarke directly, and ALL of them have if you include indirect referencing.
The story is ABOUT Bellarke. Bellarke is the main relationship and it includes feelings that are distinctly romantic, like attraction, longing, pining, jealousy, devotion, tenderness, and intimacy. You don’t have Clarke and Bellamy see the other being sexy/romantic with one of those other partners and get jealous if it is not romantic.
The story is ABSOLUTELY about Bellarke. Bellarke has gotten more and more romantic as the seasons have passed. If the story weren’t about bellarke, I wouldn’t be sure. If Bellarke weren’t romantic, I wouldn’t be sure, because the finale of s5 would have had them achieving the goal of togetherness without romance, and therefore their relationships story would be over. It is, however, continuing on and getting deeper, isn’t it?
I first realized that Bellarke was endgame after Hakeldama in season 3. I realized that the refrain of the show was that they could only succeed Together, and they were the Head and the Heart, neither of which works without the other. Unity is the point of the show. The leadership won’t succeed without either the head or the heart, but in terms of Bellarke, they NEED each other.
The story is ABOUT bringing Bellarke together. Yes I’ve been wrong about when that endgame would come about. I didn’t know what kind of long form story they were telling. It was NOT one season. It was the whole series. I didn’t want Bellarke to have to wait until the finale season, but clearly this is what is happening. The whole story is an epic love story set in the apocalypse with our heroes saving the world and finding family, love, hope, faith, a reason to live and love.
I did not worry about any of the side romances because in a story ABOUT one epic true love of soulmates, all interceding romances will be used as development, character development, plot development, romantic development... of Bellarke.
This is how you tell a love story. Two lovers meet, but circumstances keep them apart. The story is about HOW those two lovers finally get together, the side romances are part of the obstacles that they have to overcome in order to be together.
TBH, there was still some doubt that they were going romantic-- because they could always back out and change directions-- until Bellamy came back to earth with a girlfriend and THEN I was like, Hot Damn! They’re going love triangle. Because B/E was framed IN OPPOSITION to Clarke alone on earth waiting for Bellamy to come home to her, 2199 days of calls, 2199 days of longing. To put a ROMANTIC relationship in opposition to Bellarke meant that Bellarke had been moved into the romantic category.
You can NOT have a ship in a love triangle if it is platonic, because platonic is the ABSENCE of romantic or sexual feeling. If even ONE character has that longing then it’s not platonic, it’s pining or unrequited romance. A ROMANTIC relationship. As long as they framed Bellarke as romantic, that meant the story being told was NOT platonic and all the deep connection they had still had farther to go in their development and it was goign to romance.
Also, with the lack of development of B/E, that was honestly the final evidence that the side romances were not important. Bellamy was Clarke’s love interest from the end of season 4. 6 years separated, and BELLAMY was in her heart. Just like Clarke was in his head, but he thought she was dead. This is a classic romantic trope of a wife back from the dead, after the widower has moved on.
But the question is, WHO is the main romance and who is the obstacle romance. In this show, that is ABOUT The Head and The Heart, and continues building the closeness of Bellarke while just ASSUMING a relationship between B/E but not growing or developing or changing it. One relationship develops. The other does not, and in fact begins to fade away as B gives more atttention to Clarke and Echo spends more time working on herself. Oh hi, Ash, nice to meet you.
Last hiatus, people were like, Oh, Clarke will find someone else to hook up with and that will be her new love interest. And I was like, she might find someone to hook up with, but that will serve to show bellamy that he is INTERESTED in her romantically, as he will get jealous, but whoever that is will not be her “love interest” which is the character in the narrative that is the object of romantic affections. In other words, Bellamy was already her love interest, anyone else would be a romantic OBSTACLE.
There is no love story without obstacles. Up until s5 and 6 all the obstacles to their relationship were political, physical, emotional, apocalyptic or whatever. In season 5 and 6, the obstacles became ROMANTIC OBSTACLES. Hot damn, it’s a romance genre story now.
That’s why the other romances don’t bother me.
Love isn’t about One True Love and that’s the only person you’re allowed to love/kiss/boink. That concept is related to purity theories, which say a woman must have only one love and otherwise is useless, dirty, shameful. That concept is also related to disney movies in which the princess doesn’t even KNOW any men until she meets her prince, and that love story is happy ever after. This show does NOT practice any of those one true love concepts... or if it does, the one true love is Bellarke, and the loves before it were important and valid, but not soulmates.
However, in real life, nothing is that neat. I can tell you the narrative path of THIS show because they are following some tropes and archetypes that tell us what path they are following. Real life doesn’t have tropes or archetypes... or genres. The romance genre demands a Happy Ever After ending or the audience feels betrayed. The Apocalyptic Science Fiction genre does not, it demands death and destruction and fighting back against the end of the world, and either finding hope and rebirth, or doom and grimdark. It is still to be seen if Bellarke’s story is a romance genre story within the apocalyptic genre, but it does seem as if they are going with the hope in the darkness story rather than grim dark story. So this gives us some guidelines on what is happening.
All in all, I have faith in Bellarke as a love story because I’ve been following the story being told and the tropes and archetypes and genres that they use, and it says Bellarke is endgame. I couldn’t be sure about another story unless I pay attention to the tropes and archetypes and genres that they use. Also tv and movies are often sold out to hollywood, for cheap endings, so you always have to be aware that they might not be paying as much attention to story as you are. It’s much easier to analyze things once they are already done, than as they go along. TV shows can change. Also most TV shows don’t have a long term, novelistic story going on, like The 100 does. If you’re looking to find faith in a ship you follow on tv or the movies, you have to search for the clues in the story that the writers are telling, and even that may be screwed when it comes down to it. I would not be so sure about Bellarke if I weren’t sure that JR was telling one cohesive 7 season story. Most shows don’t do this. If you can’t find a way to lower your anxiety about this couple, then I actually suggest not wanting it so much. Let go of your attachment a little. It’s ok. You can love something without NEEDING it.
If the couple you’re following is in real life, I can’t give you hope that they’ll survive, because real life doesn’t have a narrative, an author, a genre, symbolism, cinematography, a musical score, or an ending. You might be able to see symbolism or a thread of a narrative or cause and effect AFTER things happen, but it is exceedingly hard to predict how relationships will end up in real life, whether they’ll be happy, if what appears beautiful on the outside is actually toxic in private.
