“You can’t do this to me!” you screamed, knowing it was pointless but too full of anger to care.
“I’m sorry, my dear, it has to be done.” The people you used to call friends tightened your bindings as you struggled and thrashed against them, refusing to go down without a fight.
“It doesn’t!” you protested, unable to understand how they could be alright with doing this. “We can fight or move or anything, I don’t know, anything but this!”
It was futile. As they hurried away, eager to get far away from you and forget about your cries of protest, you wondered how long ago they’d decided on this. When had they decided that you were the one they would sacrifice.
In all honesty, it had probably been a long time ago. It was probably because of exactly this kind of behavior, you absolutely refusing to let this go on. You’d never been alright with any of this, with how they sent people into the forest to die in an attempt to save their own hides. If you’d kept your head down 5 years ago, the last time they’d tried this, odds were you’d be safe at home right now but you hadn’t. You hadn’t been able to stomach it, wracked with grief until you could stand it no longer.
In the middle of the night, praying you were not too late, you ran to this exact stone and removed the restraints, telling the poor girl a few years older than you were now to run to a nearby village and never turn back. They probably wouldn’t even have noticed you’d freed her if they hadn’t caught you on your way back. It didn’t take long to piece it together, your guilty face running from those woods. You’d been kept on a tight leash since then.
For every person that died in those 5 years, every single one, the blame was placed squarely on your back. “Was it worth it?" they’d ask, “All these souls for one person?”
You said yes every time.
And now here you were, after every attempt to get out had failed. You had no real hope that you’d survive this, the odds that there was another quiet savior in your village was nonexistent. You were alone. It was kind of fitting, that you were going to die in the forest that you loved so much, sacrificed to the beast that lived within it.
Every time you heard movement in the trees your memories flashed back to all the horror stories you’d been told about the monster in these woods, how it would tear people limb from limb, leave their bones for people to find.
The further on the night ticked, the less jumpy you got. After hours and hours had passed, the cold and the restraints digging into your skin making your limbs go numb became harder and harder to ignore. One can only wait in terrified apprehension for so long before even the fear becomes monotonous.
You wiggled as much as you could, trying to get blood flow back into your arms and legs. At this rate, even if the creature didn’t kill you, you’d lose your limbs by the end of this. Not that you thought there was any real chance you’d make it out but it was better than just waiting.
As you moved your arms the few inches that you could, you heard something move behind you and you were almost certain that this time, it wasn’t just your imagination. As much as you struggled, you couldn’t turn enough to see what it was, left completely in the dark. However, the deep, echoing footsteps gave you a pretty good guess at what was coming.
You took a deep breath, promising yourself you wouldn’t scream. If you were going to die here, you might as well do it with dignity.
A short huff came from behind you and you could feel hot breath wash over you, making your skin crawl. The air shifted as it moved closer, and you desperately tried to flinch away, despite knowing you couldn’t move.
And then, all of a sudden, you could. Your restraints were ripped open, freeing your arms first and then your legs. You didn’t even take the time to think, immediately throwing yourself from the rock you’d been tied to, desperate to get away. You assumed this was what it wanted, for you to give it a chase, but what other option did you have? You certainly weren’t going to just lay down and die.
As you pushed yourself from the rock, the gravity of the situation set in as your numb and strained arms and legs gave out on you. You collapsed to the ground unceremoniously, letting out a desperate sob as you realized you wouldn’t even be able to attempt an escape. You lay there, crumpled on the ground, racking your brain for anything you could do. So much for going out with dignity.
“Are you an idiot?” The voice that came from behind you was deep, barely above a growl, with something deeply animalistic to it. It set off some instinctual fear in you; the sound alone being enough to make the hairs on your arms stand on end.
You tried to pull yourself back but your traitorous arms and legs wouldn’t allow for it, barely managing to turn yourself enough to see the creature. He was massive, probably seven or eight feet tall, it was hard to tell from the ground. He was standing on two feet, which aided his height. You’d always imagined the beast of these woods on all fours, more animalistic and unspeaking than this. Thick fur covered him head to toe, he looked almost wolfish, with ivory antlers growing out of his head.
Your heart told you to scream and your head told you to try and reason with him but all you managed to blurt out was, “You can talk?”
He plodded over to you, familiar, echoing footsteps approaching you before picking you up from the ground like you weighed nothing. You could feel his sharp claws, not piercing your skin put pressed up against you as he lifted you. You quietly made your peace with your imminent death before he plopped you down again, leaning you against the stone you’d been tied to.
“At least gather your bearings before you try and run again, little idiot.”
No matter how much you tried to calm yourself, your breaths were still coming short and fast. At this rate, even if you could stand you would pass out if you tried to run anywhere, you needed to pull yourself together, as difficult as that was in the presence of a figure you’d had nightmares about for years.
“Is that what you want? For me to give you a chase?” you spat in his direction, trying to sound as frightening as you could while unable to stand properly.
He didn’t even dignify you with a response to your question, which angered you even more. If he was going to kill you, the least he could do was not ignore you first. He glared at you accusationally, as if he had any right to be angry, and snarled, “After the last one wasn’t here, I thought maybe your stupid village was done but you never fail to disappoint me.”
“After the last… I freed her.” You assumed he was talking about his missing sacrifice, the one you’d worked so hard to save at the cost of your own life. You sat up a little straighter at that, proud you’d be able to tell him that you had taken one sacrifice away from him, even if you did end up here yourself. At least you’d have that, a small victory but one you were proud of nonetheless.
His head cocked to the side, looking at you with a newfound interest, actually responding to your words for the first time. “You freed her?”
“To save her from you,” you spat. You could barely look at him, knowing the blood of your friends was on his hands. The only reason you forced yourself to look was to watch his reaction to your little victory. He didn't seem angry, though, more intrigued than anything, if you were reading his face correctly. You dismissed it, you probably just weren’t understanding him properly, you weren’t accustomed to reading wolf-men’s faces anyways.
“Your friends did not need saving from me. Despite what you little parasites seem to think, I have no interest in you, as sacrifices or otherwise.”
You shook your head. “No, that’s not possible, you killed them!”
“That is what you all think, isn’t it. Every death is blamed on me, every attack by a wild creature. You send your own to die here, by my hand, and yet I’m the monster. I’ve done nothing to you but exist near your home.”
That couldn’t be true, this must be some sort of trick or game he was playing with you. “You expect me to believe you?”
He scoffed. “I don’t expect a human to believe anything but their own self-centered worldview.”
“Where are they then?” you shot back, trying to force him to admit to his lie. “Where are all my friends?”
“Do you think they wanted to go back to a people who would send them to die so readily?”
That gave you pause. If you survived this, where would you go? Not home, you knew that much. You would never go back there. Not after what they’d done to you. Why would the others feel any different?
“Are they really alive,” you asked, wincing as your voice cracked, sounding much more pathetic than you’d intended.
The creature’s demeanor softened at your words and you hated him for it, hated the wave of pity you felt from him. You much preferred when he was calling you an idiot, at least you’d felt like his equal then.
“They’re fine,” he said, his voice more level than before, more like a low growl than a roar. “They’ve all moved on, gone elsewhere. You will too, when you remember how to stand.”
Was that where you’d go? Some town somewhere, filled with more people. A village like yours, one you’d have to hope would treat you better. Surround yourself with people who could betray you just as easily? The idea turned your stomach. You didn’t belong there. There was nowhere you belonged now. “There’s no place for me. I’ll stay here.”
The more gentle demeanor the creature had put on for you evaporated. “You will do no such thing, if you stay you’ll die.”
“Because you’ll kill me?”
You could practically feel his frustration. “No, I’m not going to kill you, get that through your thick skull. You won’t survive alone in these woods.”
“There’s no place for me amongst people anymore. I love this forest, if it kills me so be it, I’m not leaving.”
He looked you up and down and you couldn’t help but shrink under his intense gaze. Finally, he broke the silence once more. “You’re really not going to leave, are you?”
You shook your head, already adamant in your position. He buried his head in his hands, clearly frustrated with your decision
After a frustrated growl left his throat, he looked down at you once again and said, “Fine, I’ll show you somewhere you can stay.”
You reeled back. “You’re going to help me?”
“I already told you, I don’t want you dead. It’s just somewhere to protect you from the elements, it’s nothing much. Can you walk yet or do I need to carry you?”
You absolutely would not be allowing that to happen. You began to rise and he shifted closer to you. You realized that he was preparing to catch you if you fell, which only made you more determined to stand. You managed it, although on shaky legs and while leaning on the rock you’d come to hate more than anything in the past few hours.
He seemed to accept that you were able to walk now, despite a few fumbles as you began, your legs slowly regaining feeling, although he never strayed too far from you and you got the distinct feeling he wasn’t sure if you would keel over or not.
He led you to a cave, not far from where you’d been tied up. It was small, he had to duck a little to ensure his antlers didn’t scrape the ceiling, but he was right. It would protect you from the elements, at least that was something. As soon as you entered he was already leaving, clearly not eager to stick around and chat.
You weren’t entirely sure why him leaving upset you. You’d just met the terrifying creature, the one who’d haunted you for so many years, and yet so quickly he had turned to some kind of comfort for you. Without him there, the silence of the forest felt overwhelming.
You laid down on the cold, stone ground, as far from the entrance of the cave as you could get. You weren’t sure how you were going to sleep here but you definitely needed it, emotionally and physically exhausted from the night you’d had. You didn’t need to worry, despite your concerns about being able to fall asleep on the hard ground, your exhaustion rapidly took over.
When you woke up, something heavy was draped across you and you sat up in a panic, feeling smothered. As you got up, you realized it was a fur of some kind, keeping you warm. Next to you and the fur was some food and you quietly thanked the beast you’d been so afraid of the night before.
You saw him on occasion, amongst the trees. He was shockingly stealthy for his size, you could tell how no one had ever managed to get a good look at him. You, however, did manage it. He wasn’t hiding from you anymore, there was no use for it.
Despite his demeanor towards you, he was very helpful. He never admitted to being the one to help you, of course, but when you found supplies around you when you woke up you knew exactly where they were coming from.
The day you’d awoken to the peace offerings from the beast, you’d also awoken to blue and purple marks covering your arms, right where the bindings had been. You found yourself rubbing them absentmindedly, the ache a reminder of your first night here. You almost missed them as they started to fade, the last real tie to your village.
You inspected them thoroughly every night, a better marker of time to you than the days. Tonight, for the first time, they were fully gone. No color or pain remaining, just your arms, as they had been.
“Do you really love the forest?”
You whipped around, unsure as to how you could’ve possibly missed the creature’s entrance. You must’ve been too caught up in your reminiscing. You silently scolded yourself, you couldn’t afford to be that careless. “You’re going to give me a heart attack, warn me first!”
“You should be more aware of your surroundings,” he said, amusement tinging his voice.
“Yes, I love the forest,” you said with a huff, “I told you that already, why are you asking me.”
“Most humans who claim that are more destructive. Why did you save the other sacrifice?”
“Because it’s not right, sending someone to die against their will like that. I couldn’t stand for it, even if it meant me being on that rock. Why are you helping me?” you shot back. This interrogation you’d been unwillingly entered into could go both ways.
You expected him to brush it off, to say something rude and move on, but he considered your words carefully before responding. “I don’t want you to die, despite how much of a death wish you seem to have.”
“I do not have a death wish!” Sure, you’d been reckless, but you thought you’d been doing pretty well, all things considered.
“Perhaps you don’t. Your actions make more sense if you do.”
“I can’t have morals?”
“You can, but strong enough ones to die for?”
Of course they were strong enough for you to die for. The other option was letting an innocent person die, you couldn’t stand for that. “Yes. Seems like that wasn’t in the cards though.”
He shook his head in agreement. “Not in my forest it’s not.”
Your head fell to the side, looking up at him curiously. “Is this your forest?”
“I think so. I keep it safe, maintain it. I don’t own it if that’s what you’re asking.”
It wasn’t. You hadn’t even considered the possibility that he owned the forest, that anyone owned the forest. The idea just seemed outlandish to you.
“What’s your name?” It struck you that you hadn’t asked.
“Acacius.”
“Thank you, Acacius, for everything you’ve done for me.”
This seemed to take him by surprise. You couldn’t blame him, you supposed you hadn’t acted very grateful thus far. You were grateful, infinitely so. You weren’t so foolish as to think that you could have survived on your own without him, you were resourceful but not that resourceful, especially not when you’d started exhausted and frightened. Without his quiet aid you would have fulfilled the village’s mission, become a sacrifice to the forest despite Acacius’s initial mercy. “You're welcome, little idiot.”
Before you could manage a retort, he was gone, as quickly and silently as he’d appeared.
You saw more of each other after that. He seemed to have warmed to you in the weeks you’d been here and you enjoyed spending time with him, although neither of you would ever admit it.
As the weeks ticked onwards and the harshest part of winter came, with snow blanketing the ground and temperatures being far below freezing, he just happened to show up more and more often, checking in on you almost daily. And miraculously, more and more pelts kept appearing around your little cave, more than you knew what to with, even in the harsh cold of the winter.
You were convinced that the worst was over. It must be, you couldn’t remember it ever having been this cold before in the village, although admittedly in the past you had been inside next to the warm fireplace for most of those winters, not in a cave covered in animal hides.
The temperatures dropping even further caught you entirely by surprise. You woke up, shivering, hours after your fire had burnt out to feet of new snow outside. You groaned, rubbing your hands together in a desperate bid for warmth so you’d have enough feeling in your hands to restart your fire.
As you tried and failed to warm your hands, you heard a very welcome noise. The plodding of heavy footsteps on newly fallen snow approached you and you turned eagerly to see the staggering figure of your protector.
At the sight of your shivering form you heard a low growl come from him, igniting some instinctual fear in you. You often forgot how imposing he could be, especially when he was upset. You weren’t actually afraid of him, you knew he wouldn’t hurt you, but occasionally, something would happen and something in your biology would tell you that you needed to run.
He pushed past you, completely unaware of the effect he was having on you and already set on starting a fire,
“You humans are so fragile,” he called back to you as he busied himself.
You sniffled quietly, refusing to dignify that with a response.
It didn’t take long before the fire was roaring in front of you, far faster than you could’ve managed with your practically numb fingers that still weren’t getting better.
You sat opposite the fire from Acacius, who was watching you carefully as you tucked your hands between your thighs and curled in on yourself, trying to conserve body heat.
“Come here,” he said, beckoning you towards him. You stared back at him, wide eyed and uncertain. He didn’t give you the opportunity to flounder, speaking once more. “You’re cold. Come here.” His tone didn’t leave any room for argument, saying it so matter-of-factly, as if it was the only course of action. You obeyed, shuffling towards him, an uncharacteristic timidness coming over you at the idea of being close to him.
As soon as you were within his reach he pulled you into his side, next to the newly lit fire. Your body went stiff, unsure of what to do with this newfound contact. You’d never actually gotten the chance to touch his fur before, even unmoving against it you could tell how thick and soft it was. Unbidden, your mind conjured the idea of how it would feel to run your hands through it, wondering if anyone had ever done that for him. This did not help how flustered you were, absolutely refusing to move just in case you messed this up somehow.
Acacius seemed to find this deeply amusing, a low chuckle rumbling through his chest. “Relax, little one, I don’t bite.”
This did little to help your nervousness but you managed to relax against him, leaning into his surprisingly warm side, feeling the cold slowly leave you.
“You’re so tense around me.” You could feel the rumble in his chest as he spoke, his voice particularly low, making it almost seem as if you were feeling his words instead of hearing them.
It was a fair observation, you were tense around him. You understood why you were at first, you were scared and upset, of course you were going to be on guard against him. He didn’t seem to mind that, he understood your fear and did his best to prove it unwarranted. But as the fear and anger dissipated and you got to know him, that tension remained. You didn’t understand it yourself, let alone well enough to put it into words. There was just something about him, something that made you more conscious of yourself, a thick tension that always hung in the air.
Not that you’d ever say that to him, admit to that tension you didn’t understand and couldn’t quite manage to shake. So you did what you did best, you deflected.
“Of course I’m tense. It’s been quite the adjustment, having to sleep on the cold, hard ground,” you said with a dramatic sigh, trying to keep yourself from giggling.
He was having none of it. “Oh please. With all the furs I’ve given you, you’re sleeping like a princess.”
You continued on, undeterred by his accurate assessment. “And no kitchens, or even houses at all, I think I’ve been doing incredibly well considering everything I’ve had to deal with.”
“Do you always complain this much?” he grumbled.
“When there’s things to complain about I do,” you responded, absolutely refusing to back down.
Then he got quiet and you worried you’d pushed things too far. Just as you opened your mouth to say you were kidding, that you appreciated everything he’d done for you and that you were doing just fine, he started to speak, cutting you off completely. “Things wouldn’t be so difficult for you if you’d just go to another town, where you're meant to be. You’d be happier there.”
Your heart dropped. You knew he was partially right, that things would be easier if you’d just find somewhere new to stay, live like you always had. But happier? “No I wouldn’t. I belong here, I’m not going anywhere.”
“You’re lucky I’m here and willing to take care of you.”
“I am.”
“You are?”
You knew he was just trying to get you to say it aloud. He wasn’t even trying to hide it. But right now, cuddled into his side, feeling more content than you ever had living in that god forsaken village, you couldn’t bring yourself to care. “Yeah, I’m lucky to have you.”
He pulled you closer into him, almost protectively, and you could feel your face heating up. Between his body heat and the fire and whatever emotions you were experiencing right now, at least you didn’t have to worry about being cold anymore. That problem had long since been solved.
You hadn’t realized until now how tired you were. You hadn’t let yourself realize, so focused on other things but now, warm and safe, you found yourself nodding off.
You didn’t know how long you’d been asleep, unwilling to open your eyes and check how light it was. You could tell he was awake beside you, could feel his eyes on you as you avoided opening yours for a little longer, content to remain where you were.
The dripping of the icicles outside indicated a much needed end to the cold. You hoped it wouldn’t be too long, you missed the green of the forest. Although, if this was how you got to sleep when it got this cold, maybe you wanted it to stick around a little longer.
“Spring’s coming, isn’t it?” you said, breaking the silence and slowly opening your eyes. “I’ve always loved spring, all the baby animals around and all the flowers.”
He seemed bashful at the idea, although you couldn’t fathom why. “It’ll be easier for you when the cold’s gone,” he said, avoiding eye contact as if he hadn’t been staring you down moments before.
“Yeah, it’ll be nice and warm again. Do you like the spring? I guess I don’t actually know what most of the seasons are like when you’re actually living out here.”
In a frustrating return to form, he refused to answer your question. “I’ll be gone for a while during the spring, you’ll have to fend for yourself.”
You were sure he hadn’t meant for it to hurt you, to seem like he was pulling away. You were sure he had a good reason, something important he had to attend to. It still felt like a slap in the face. You were tucked into his side, trying to talk with him, to connect with him, and all he could think about was leaving.  “Right, okay. I’m sure it’ll be a welcome break. Do you know how long you’ll be gone?”
“Should be no more than a few days, I’m sure you’ll manage.”
You nodded, hoping you looked reassuring, and hoping even more than he cared enough to notice. “I’ll be fine, no need to worry about me.”
It had not been a few days. In fact, it had been almost a week and still there was no sign of Acacius. No matter how many times you told yourself that he was more than capable of handling himself you couldn’t help but worry. As frustrating as he could be, it wasn’t like him to just go missing, to go against his word like this.
Once a week hit, you went looking for him. Not too far, you didn’t want to be away in case he returned, but you started traveling further and farther from your little portion of the woods.
You weren’t good at self-regulating. Every time the little voice in the back of your head said it was time to go home, that you’d strayed too far or that it was getting late, you couldn’t help but push on. Just a little further, just a little longer. What if you were right there, so close just to turn back at exactly the wrong moment.
When you finally did decide to return home, the sun had fully set. You realized your mistake as you tried to make your way back. You were unfamiliar with this part of the woods. In places you’d traveled since you’d arrived here or even back in your time at the village, you could navigate at night easily, but that was well traveled ground. You could find your way through those trees blindfolded if you needed to.
Out here, on the other hand, you barely knew right from left. The moonlight struggled to make it through the branches and the only real thing you had to guide you was the vague memory of how you’d gotten here. Unfortunately, you had decidedly taken at least one wrong turn and were now in entirely new territory.
Your single focus was attempting to get to familiar ground. As soon as you panicked you were done, you just needed to get your bearings and then you could get yourself to safety. As you realized that you’d lost even your sense of direction, your priorities changed. If you continued on, the only thing that would happen was you would get entirely lost and at that point, even daylight might not help you. Your best shot was to find somewhere you could hunker down, stay until the sun came up and you could hopefully find your way back.
As you searched, the only thing you could do was think, stuck going over your mistakes over and over again. Your one task was to keep yourself safe and what had you done? Decided you needed to help and set off straight into danger. It was a stupid mistake, one you hoped you’d live to regret.
Finally, you found a small cave, which would hopefully be your shelter for the night. You were exhausted and you mind was slow with fear and regret and you didn’t think to check it first, not until you heard a low growl.
Something was in here and now it felt cornered. You couldn’t get out of there fast enough. You barely had time to register the noise before a sharp pain shot through your side and you were keeling over. Chaos broke out around you but you couldn’t make any of it out, the panic and the pain in your side clouding your view just as much as the darkness was.
You weren’t sure what eventually knocked you out, if it was blood loss or the shock or something else entirely, all you knew as you fell was that you were certain you wouldn’t be waking up.
But you did, finding yourself somewhere unfamiliar, on dozens of animal pelt laid out below you. Your hand drifted down to the throbbing pain in your side, finding your pulsing wounds wrapped up tight.
Then, a familiar voice echoed off the walls and you felt relief wash through you. “I asked you to stay out of trouble for a little while, was that so difficult?”
“I didn’t almost get eaten by wolves on purpose!” you snapped back, immediately regretting the harsh tone you’d used. He’d saved you and those were the first words you said to him? “No, sorry, I should be thanking you, you saved me again,” you said, biting down your pride. “What even happened? It was hard to tell.”
“You got attacked by some wolves. I almost didn’t get there in time to stop them, they would’ve torn you apart.”
You winced. “It wasn’t their fault, I was stupid and I cornered them.”
“I know it wasn’t. I don’t blame the wolves.”
He blamed you. As he should, it was your fault. You’d been stupid and you’d put yourself in danger and it wasn’t anyone’s fault but your own. “I’m sorry,” you choked out, feeling the sharp pain above your ribs as you spoke.
“You don’t need to apologize. I just… I need you to be more careful. If I wasn’t there…” His body was tense. You could tell, even from here, that he was still ready to fight, even at the memory. “What were you doing out there anyways?”
You wanted to lie, to save your pride and say anything but the truth, but you didn’t. He deserved to know what had happened. “You were gone a long time and I got worried about you, it’s stupid.”
“It’s not stupid. You’re two sweet for your own good, little idiot.”
This time, you felt like you’d earned the nickname, just this once. “I’m lucky you got back when you did, where have you been?”
“Here.” He was still keeping his distance from you, turned away and as far from you as he could be while still being inside the cave.
“What? But you said…”
He remained hunched over in the corner, back to you and keeled over himself. You could tell from the rise and fall of his shoulders that his breathing was slow and heavy and your heart sank. “Are you hurt?”
He responded immediately, his tone final. “I’m fine. You stay there.”
You didn’t think he’d lie about being injured, he respected you more than that. If he’d gotten hurt he would’ve been tending to it, not trying to protect you from a consequence of your actions. So why was he hiding like this, both in this cave for days and even now, standing far away from you, in your presence but still hiding.
It was like he didn’t want to be near you or even look at you. You weren’t sure what had shifted as the seasons had changed, why with the beginning of spring he’d needed to spend some time alone, still here but unwilling to see you, set on staying within the privacy of his own home.
You verbalized your thoughts, trying to make sense of all of it, to piece it together. “So what, you just have a week in spring where you have to…”
Oh.
Oh.
Your hand flew over your mouth as everything clicked into place. A sigh echoed off of the cave walls and you knew he understood what had just occurred to you.
You wanted to tell him it was alright, that he didn’t need to be embarrassed or upset, that he could have told you what was going on.
Instead, the words that came out of your mouth were, “I want to help”
“You have no idea what you’re saying”
“I think I do.”
He stopped and for the first time in this conversation, he fully turned to face you, leering over you. You could see it in his face, he was considering it and as he stared at you, mulling it over, you let out a shaky breath. But then he backed away from you again, leaning fully against the opposite wall and you shrunk in on yourself, unsure if you’d imagined it. “You need to heal.”
“And what are you going to do during that, just sit in the corner the whole time? I’ll be fine, I’m stronger than I look.”
“I’m aware of that, trust me. You need to heal, nothing is happening until you’re no longer actively bleeding.”
It made sense. You couldn’t fault him for it. If you’d been in your right mind you would have said the same thing, but right now you were a cocktail of conflicting emotions and you decided you didn’t particularly care for rational thinking. But you had no real argument to make so all you managed was a little huff.
He seemed to find it more amusing than anything, letting out a soft chuckle as he sank to the floor opposite you, putting his face closer to your eye level. “You know, my heats don’t normally last this long. I think my body registered that I was courting you and it was going well but I don’t know how the timelines of human relationships work, I didn’t want to push you into anything.”
You reeled back. “Hold on, you were courting me?”
He seemed just as confused as you felt. “Of course I was. All the furs I put on you while you were sleeping, and the supplies and food. I held you to keep you warm and you fell asleep on me. Is that not how humans court?”
You shook your head but suddenly you weren’t so sure. He’d brought you gifts and taken care of you and you had fallen asleep on him, perhaps that wasn’t as platonic as you had assumed.
He seemed horrified by the revelation. “You had no idea this was coming. We shouldn’t be doing this, I need to give you time and space, I-”
“No, wait!” You lurched towards him in an attempt to make him stay but instead you doubled over, clutching your side. Immediately he was next to you, making sure you were alright and that you hadn’t reopened your wounds.
As you caught your breath and he ensured you were alright, he started to move away again. Your arm shot out and caught his, silently pleading for him to stay with you. Despite your grip on his arm, you knew that if he wanted to he could pull away, you were no obstacle to him. And yet, he didn’t even try, settling down next to you.
When he sighed this time, you could feel it and you’d never been more grateful for the proximity. “I’ve gone about this all wrong. Why are you so confusing?”
“Were you really courting me?” Your voice was low, as if you were worried you might scare him off if you spoke too loud. You couldn’t keep the grin off your face, no matter how hard you tried.
“Clearly not well enough. How do humans court people?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know, weird ways.
“What ways?”
You struggled to find a way to explain it. “So men will…” your sentence was caught off by a fit of giggles. “Men will like… they’ll give your father a goat. Or other stuff that’s worth stuff. And then you marry them.” You couldn’t stop laughing, it sounded so absurd when you explained it aloud.
Acacius did not seem any more convinced of the legitimacy of these methods. “So you’re not involved in this at all? Are you sure they’re not courting your father?”
“No, that would make too much sense. Noone wanted to pay my dowry because they thought I was mad, freeing sacrifices and running around in the woods. If only they could see me now.” Another fit of giggles overtook you and you buried your face in Acacius's fur. As you did you felt a low growl rumble through him, drawing another smile out of you. “I prefer your way.”
“Your presence is making it worse, you know. I haven’t felt this way, haven’t felt this much, in a long time. I can barely think.”
That probably shouldn’t stroke your ego as much as it did. “Then stop thinking.”
“I’ll stop thinking when you can stand properly, how does that sound?”
To be honest, it didn’t sound ideal but you had a feeling it was the best deal you were going to get.
Two more days. That’s how long getting better apparently took. At the end of the next day, you proudly showed him that you could walk and even jog just fine, that you were all healed up and still it wasn’t enough for him.
He was supposed to be the one in heat so you didn’t think it made any sense that you were this desperate, desperate for anything. Every time he’d say you needed to heal more, that he wouldn’t risk hurting you. None of your arguments managed to sway him.
That didn’t stop you from arguing, far from it. It felt like there was endless bickering between the two of you but in your defense, you were being kept inside and you were bored and desperate and definitely healed enough.
So on the second day of being forced to sit around for hours on end, you decide to try once more.
“You know, it barely even hurts anymore.”
“You can barely move without wincing,” he said, which while fair, didn’t feel entirely relevant to you right now.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m just being dramatic, don’t worry so much. I feel fine.”
He walked over to you, towering over you, and you prepared to be told off once more.
“Strip.”
Your voice immediately lost all its confidence. “What?”
“You want to do this so badly, so strip.”
At a loss for words, you did what you were told, pulling off your clothes under his quiet attention, doing your best to not become self conscious. Soon you were covered only by the bandages wrapped over your ribs and your arms that you folded over yourself, feeling exposed and uncertain, in entirely new territory.
Acacius stepped closer and pulled your arms away from your chest, a pleased noise escaping him as you allowed him to move you with no resistance. As soon as you weren’t covering yourself anymore, his attention shifted down to your bandages and you wanted to scream. Was that really the most important thing right now?
His hand ghosted over them, inspecting them carefully. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
You nodded eagerly, words still seeming a bit difficult at the moment.
Concern still wracked his features but as he stared at you, chest heaving up and down, you could tell his patience had finally run out.
“Alright, lay down.”
You followed his orders, reclining on the furs that were sprawled across the floor while he remained where he stood, staring down at you. Normally if he bossed around like this you would have given him hell, but right now you appreciated the commands. You weren’t sure you could manage a coherent thought if you’d tried, with two days of working yourself up behind you.
“I can’t, I have…” he nodded towards his clawed hands, the ones he’d always been so careful about around you. “I need you to help me open you up, can you do that?”
You nodded, your breath catching in your throat as you did.
Slowly, you pushed two fingers inside you. His intense gaze fell on you, unwavering, watching your entrance, eyes darting up to your face as you gasped when you hit a particularly sensitive spot. Your eyes locked and you felt yourself clench around your fingers, perfectly content to just lie there, touching yourself as he watched until you remembered your mission and started scissoring yourself open.
You felt so small under his gaze. There was always quite the size difference but you’d never felt it as much as you did right now.
You knew he could see how wet you were. It must be obvious, even from where he stood. You pushed another finger inside, set on opening yourself up as quickly as you could. You whined as you did. It still didn’t feel like enough, you needed more. You needed him.
Caught up in your frustration, you didn’t even notice him approaching you until you felt him, leaning over you. You immediately grabbed at him, hands leaving yourself and rooting themselves in his fur in an attempt to pull him towards you. “So impatient, little one,” he muttered, and for a moment you were worried he was going to keep teasing you.
He was so much bigger than you, leaving you to bury your face in his chest as he lined himself up, his head far above yours. You could feel his tip pressing up against you and if you hadn’t been so worked up, you might’ve thought that you should’ve worked yourself open for longer, this was going to be quite the stretch. You weren’t even sure if it would fit, desperately praying it would.
He waited at your entrance, giving you a chance to protest as you felt him but instead, you bucked your hips, your desperation only growing. Finally, he started to push in. Your arms flew around him. He shushed you in his low, rumbling voice as he paused for a moment to let you adjust to the stretch. You focused on breathing, trying to match your breaths to the slow, steady rise and fall of Acacius’s chest. He seemed better at controlling his breathing than you, clearly measuring his breaths in an attempt to maintain his control and composure as he entered you, which were two things you couldn’t seem to manage right now. It didn’t take long before you grew restless again, letting out a pathetic whine, a noise that you never would have imagined you’d make.
A low chuckle rumbled through his chest at your impatience so you decided to take things into your own hands, pushing downward to get more of him inside of you, that stretch returning almost immediately. You heard him hiss above you, his hips locked into place, and you realized he was putting all his energy into controlling himself, into not giving into his instincts and just rutting into you.
Part of you wanted him to.
“You need to be more patient,” he said, through what sounded like gritted teeth.
Any other day you’d have shot something snarky back but right now, you were too far gone. All you could manage was whimpering out, “Need you.”
That was enough to make him start up again, set on stretching you out, making it so you could take all of him. It felt like it would never end. Finally, his hips were flush with yours and he stopped, panting and letting you adjust. Your hand creeped down to your stomach, trying to confirm your suspicion. As it landed on your lower stomach you felt him, inside of you, pushing at your walls so hard you could feel it from the outside.
He felt it too, as you touched it he groaned and you could feel his restraint wearing thin. Good.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice dripping with genuine care. You knew that if you showed any sign of discomfort that he would stop immediately,
You nodded into his chest,
“Can I move?”
“Please.” Your voice was wracked with desperation. The days of anticipation already had you worked up, you needed him.
He didn’t require any more convincing, pulling out to rut back inside, earning a cry from you as he reached deeper inside you than you even knew was possible. It wasn’t a hard thrust and you knew he was getting you used to it, making sure he didn’t overwhelm you, but still it felt like he was splitting you in two. Somehow, every thrust felt like it was going deeper, him pushing harder and harder every time. Your hand dropped to rub your clit, desperately chasing your high as he started to use you in earnest, chasing his.
He pulled you closer to him, your chest flush against his as he thrusted into you. It seemed like he couldn’t get close enough to you, like even while he was inside you needed more. Your hands knotted themselves in his fur, both aiding him in his efforts to bring the two of you ever closer and giving you something to hold onto as everything became rapidly overwhelming.
The way you clung to him only seemed to spur him on. The way you were holding desperately to him as he ruined you, both overwhelming you entirely and bringing you comfort. The way you trusted him entirely, were giving all of yourself over to him and still trying to draw him closer. You could tell it was driving him crazy, both his instincts and his heart pleased by your behavior.
The longer it went, the more it seemed like he was losing control, measured thrusts turning into something much more primal. He was letting his instincts take control. His words of praise, telling you how well you were doing, had faded out, replaced by grunts and growls as he hammered into you.
At a particularly hard thrust, you let out a choked sob, a coil winding in your stomach as he rutted into you endlessly, focused on marking you, on making you his.
You could feel it coming, feel yourself tightening around him as he pounded into you. Your fist tightened in his fur, giving you something to grab as you found your release. You gasped his name, barely even aware of what you were doing, unable to focus on anything but the white hot pleasure that was ripping through you.
Even this didn’t deter him, his thrusts made even easier by the new wave of wetness that had coated him as he desperately chased his own pleasure, pushing you through yours. Now that you'd come, that he was sure he’d made you feel good, something in him snapped, fucking you harder than you would have imagined possible.
You were certain he was close, that he just needed one last push. Unable to move in his tight, protective grasp, all you could do was speak, choking out the words, “please… need you,” through the haze of sensation. His movement stuttered and you clenched around him again, pushing him over the edge as he gave you exactly what you’d asked for. You could feel him come, painting your insides as he held you close to him, his thrusts slowing.
Even as he finished, he didn’t pull out of you, insead wrapping his arm around your waist and flipping the both of you around, leaving you resting on his chest. You still felt full, him seated inside you. You wondered if this was part of his mating instinct, a bid to try and get you pregnant even if you both knew that wasn’t possible, at least not between the two of you. Or maybe he just liked being inside of you and the closeness it brought. Either way, you weren’t complaining, feeling satisfied and full and frankly, exhausted.
“Please stay,” he asked, his voice low and hoarse, and you knew he wasn’t just talking about you spending the night here.
“Of course. I told you the first time we met, I’m not going anywhere.”
This seemed to satisfy him, his hold on you loosening slightly so you could get comfortable, snuggling into him as you got ready to succumb to your exhaustion. You managed a muffled, “You’re warm,” still not feeling completely coherent. You were sure you wouldn’t be able to stand if you tried, your legs feeling wobbly already, even as you just layed there, and for the first time, you didn’t mind it.
You could feel him chuckle to himself, the laugh sending vibrations through his chest. “Will you stop complaining about sleeping on the ground now?”
You murmured happily into his chest. If this was where your complaining had gotten you, you considered it quite the success. “As long as you keep letting me sleep here, with you.”
“I think I can manage that.”

Gathering of the Greatest Gumshoes - Number 9
Welcome to A Gathering of the Greatest Gumshoes! During this month-long event, I’ll be counting my Top 31 Favorite Fictional Detectives, from movies, television, literature, video games, and more!
SLEUTH-OF-THE-DAY’S QUOTE: “How do you think this all works? By being big and being bad.”
Number 9 is…Bigby Wolf, from The Wolf Among Us.
Tumblr media
“The Wolf Among Us” is a video game made by the now-defunct developers Telltale Games. The game was based on the comic series “Fables.” I’m going to come right out and say it: I have never read the comics, and I have basically no real knowledge of them or how the characters and lore in them may differ from the established points in “The Wolf Among Us.” HOWEVER, very thankfully, the game is able to stand up on its own two feet regardless, and so are its characters, so even someone who has basically no knowledge of the source material can still enjoy it.
The game is a sort of choose-your-own-adventure sort of deal; a point-and-click adventure where the player’s choices every step of the way affect how the story plays out, the kinds of relationships you form with other characters, and so on. Some choices are more important than others, but virtually every choice of note is worth pondering. The plot is a combo of film noir crime story and dark fantasy: it takes place in a world where various characters from the world of fiction, after their universe was mysteriously destroyed, have fled to the “real” world in order to seek refuge. They’ve established their own city, called “Fabletown,” where real world problems combine with fantastical adventures, as they struggle to build new lives and survive in this different universe, and hide their identities from the “normies” who exist beyond the borders of the city.
The main character is Sheriff Bigby Wolf. Bigby, as you may have guessed from his name and the title, is the Big Bad Wolf of fairy-tale infamy himself. In the world of the game, Bigby is a werewolf, who can transform from a human to increasingly more wolf-like forms, his true and ultimate form being a GIGANTIC feral beast bigger than elephant, able to create hurricane-force winds with his breath alone, and more than capable of swallowing a person whole. Needless to say, with this kind of setup, and his reputation as one of the greatest, most archetypal villains in history, Bigby isn’t exactly a popular Sheriff. Many fear or distrust him, and those that don’t typically still keep their distance for one reason or another.
Because of the playstyle of Telltale games, Bigby’s exact personality can shift depending on the choices the player makes: he can be sort of a gentle giant, who looks rugged and tough but really isn’t that bad. In contrast, he can be much more morally and ethically dubious, an anti-hero closer to Dirty Harry, who walks a very fine line between a man and a monster. However, regardless of the choices you make, a few things remain constant: Bigby’s general demeanor is that of an almost stereotypical noir-style detective. He’s gruff, grumpy, coarse, and can’t seem to go five seconds without having a cigarette. He’s often cynical and sarcastic, very much the sardonic hard-boiled sleuth. The character is voiced by Adam Harrington, and he does a phenomenal job giving Bigby the airs of such a great archetype, while also injecting vulnerability and sympathy into his portrayal.
The most notable constant of all, however, is Bigby’s motivations: even if you make him especially nasty, it’s usually pretty clear that this Big Bad Wolf is racked with guilt over his past. He knows the stigma that hangs over him is VERY well-deserved, and he legitimately wants to try and help people and make things better. Even when he makes questionable decisions, the majority of them are still justifiable in some fashion or another. He doesn’t want to be seen as the bad guy anymore, he wants to try and start a new life. It’s up to the player to determine if Bigby is truly able to put away the vicious, cruel, beastly sides of his personality and turn over a new leaf, or if his efforts and desires are all in vain.
Even though Telltale officially closed down in 2018, the first game was so popular that it was eventually revived for an upcoming sequel, made by the remnants of the Telltale staff with help from AdHoc Studios. The new game is set to release sometime this year, though no official release date has been given. Whenever it arrives, I look forward to seeing how Bigby’s story continues, and what new paths and new cases will await him in the future.
Tomorrow, the countdown continues with Number 8!

Wolf cub cult 👀
Wolf Club/Cult
This is the one I'm struggling the most with!!! And tbh could use some direction lol.
I did the thing that I'm frequently guilty of doing where I start the fic off strongly in one tone and then get indecisive later on and start coming up with ideas that are better suited to a fic with an entirely different tone and don't know what direction to take anymore.
The basic premise of this fic is based on these two posts 1 & 2
When I was first working on it I wanted the tone to be lighter and more cracky because most of my other wips are so dark and angsty 💀 but now I really want it to be more culty and ritualistic and I'm twiddling my thumbs about deleting and reworking what I do have (pain).
My original idea for the fic: Steve receives an invitation for the Greyson Wolf Club, he's confused as to why he's receiving it now of all times as it's not really his vibe and also he's soooo old, his pussy is sooo dry :'^( *world's smallest violin plays*. Steve attends a charity event at the Detroit club house. Sid's there (!!!). Steve finds out Sid's responsible for him receiving an invitation to join the "pack". [Some stuff happens?? the charity drive auctions off dates or something?? steve bids on sid??? or something else entirely i'm not committed to this plot line] Sid and Steve fuck.
My new idea: Sid's now the one getting the invite to the pack. In this version it's less frivolous and more revered. Steve is already part of the pack and is an important and respected member/omega. He's already got a few kids. There's some kind of pack joining ritual, like a pack/omega run or something? This one would go harder on the ABO instincts.
The other thing I'm undecided on is wether it's full, partial, or no shift abo/werewolves. It should probably be full or partial, but I already have one wip where sid fucks steve as a werewolf-like monster and another where they fuck when sid's a partial shift werewolf (play the game to learn more lol) and i'm trying my best not to write the exact same porn thrice 😭
This is the rough opening I currently have for the fic (old version):
Steve stared at his inbox, his cursor hovering over the email at the top of the queue for the third time this week. It had been sent about a month ago now and every time he did happen to open it and read it he would mark it unread and send it back to the top so that he wouldn’t lose it in the deluge that flooded his inbox daily.  With a sigh he opened up the email one more time, just to be sure. He clicked through to the website prompter and was immediately bombarded with prompts to join the Feed The Wolf newsletter and various levels of membership.   Scrolled past all of the garish wolf-branded polos and hoodies. He knew that’s not what he was being offered. Hell, he didn’t even like golf--he suffered it mostly for the sake of his social life--but that was beyond the point. He could admit to himself privately that he thought the whole thing way pretty silly—and quite probably cult adjacent.   They had taken them this long to send the offer so, why now? Steve was old and retired and to be quit honest with himself and everyone around him, reaching the end of his years where he’d be appealing to that sort of pack. Packs for the rich and famous who’s schedules were too hectic or had grown distant from their brith pack with fame. There were many reason to join a club like this one; many used it as a substitute for dating apps, other as a social club, and some simply for business connections. Steve, who still held close ties with his family pack, found it mostly superficial. They had merchandise for god sakes—be he supposed for some that was part of the draw. What was the point of being associated with a pack like this if you couldn’t brag about it.  If they wanted him that badly it would be rude to refuse the offer, it was [ounded in Detroit after all. What could it hurt, Steve thought to himself, and clicked accept.

Led Me To You ¬ Remus L.
Tumblr media
Plot - How could a monster like you ever be loved? That question was drifting around your mind at all moments but what happens when you find someone who feels the same.
Genre - Angst ♥︎/Fluff ☁️
Pairing - Remus Lupin x Fem!reader
Notes/Warnings - Angsty concept but a fluffy ending. Set in their 6th year and Lily doesn't know about Remus' little secret. This revolves around soulmates but only between werewolves. I really want to continue this but I'm unsure. (This is so long, I am sorry.)
Word Count - 2.5k
Giddy whispers, outbursts of laughter and the aroma of firewhiskey engulfed the girls dormitory. The four girls taking part in their weekly boozy chat, a tradition that was started in 2nd year but the recent addition of alcohol brought a whole new level of honesty to their chats.
"Oh come on Lily, you can't hold out on James forever!" Marlene exclaimed in protest of hearing that Lily had turned James down, once again. "We all know you are dying to go out with him so just go and jump his bones already."
At the idea of Lily Evans, the clean-cut prefect, being so forward with James Potter had Marlene, Dorcas and you rolling around the rough carpet in fits of laughter, whilst the redhead's cheeks slowly matched the Gryffindor colours. Downing her drink, she retorted. "Oh yes, because you asked Dorcas out the second you realised you liked her."
Now it was Marlene's turn to look like a cherry as Dorcas mockingly kissed her girlfriend between fits of laughter. It was true, Marlene realised her feelings back in 3rd year but it took her until 5th year to finally admit them. Even with the late admission, Dorcas and Marlene were the ultimate couple of Hogwarts, their love was almost unmatched.
Laughter died down and faces returned to their normal colours as you all topped up your drinks and basked in the joyous atmosphere of your shared room.
"So, Y/N, when are you going to admit your hidden love for a certain prefect?" Dorcas casually asked, looking at you from the comfort of her bed.
"I have no clue what you are talking about"
It was Lily's turn to interrogate you now, "Oh come on, we all see the way you sneak glances at Lupin during breakfast or how you purposely sit behind him in Divination so you can stare!"
"Seriously, we all know you like him and he likes you so what's the hold up?" Marlene chirped up after taking a swing of the pungent alcohol.
They were right of course, the brown haired Gryffindor had taken your interest and had held your heart in his strong hands since the beginning of 4th year. Always ready to offer help or share his chocolate, he was as kind as he was handsome. Who wouldn't fall in love with him?
"So what if I like him? As soon as he finds out what I am, he'd run for the hills and even if he didn't, he deserves more than a monster"
The admission had dampened the mood but they all knew how you felt. Since the age of 13, you had been dealing with lycanthropy, otherwise known as being a werewolf. Painful changes on full moons, horribly reminders of the bad nights decorating your skin and the constant feeling of being nothing more than a monster. You wouldn't wish it upon anyone.
Lily was the first to find out within the first term of 3rd year, after she noticed you walking into the dorm late one night after a shift. The witch was too clever to be deceived by your haphazard lies. Dorcas was next, finding out near the end of 3rd year when you and Lily were discussing a plan for the upcoming full-moon. The three of you had decided to tell Marlene at the beginning of 4th year as you felt terrible about keeping your best friend out of the loop.
Dorcas moved from the bed to offer you a much needed hug, the young witch allowed you to rest your head against her shoulder whilst the other two conjured up the right words to say.
"Y/N, love. You aren't a monster, you are the best person we know. You are kind, caring, clever and probably the best looking witch in Gryffindor and if anyone, especially a boy, were to call you a monster, well then I hope he knows some counter-curses." Exclaimed Marlene, her final comment earning a laugh from all the girls, including a heavy chuckle from you.
"You deserve the world and we are here to make sure you get it"
Those words hit the button for tears to flow freely down your cheeks. Standing up to encase your three best friends into a hug, you whispered "What would I do without you all."
The hug lasted a while longer before Lily, being the ever responsible girl she was, announced that we should all get some sleep as it was a big day tomorrow. The full-moon.
Heading off into your respective beds, you pondered on the girls' words. Did Remus really like me? Could I actually be the person he deserved? Is it fair to ask him to love a monster?
The Next Day
The day following the rise of the full-moon was always a blur, your senses feeling scattered and your mind heavy with preparation of the inevitable shift. Lily, Marlene and Dorcas took it in turns of keeping an eye on you throughout the day, making sure nothing crazy happened. Besides the splitting headache you faced, the day was uneventful as always until the sun started to set.
Your safe-haven was an abandoned cottage in the Forbidden Forest, large enough to house a young werewolf away from the prying eyes of her judgemental peers. The wooden cottage looked haunted from the exterior but inside there was a cozy atmosphere that was enhanced by the relaxation charms Lily and Dorcas had conjured up over the years to make the shift more bearable. You and the girls headed down after a quick dinner, to avoid being followed by nosy first-years or suspicious Slytherins.
Pacing around the cottage as the other girls went over their emergency plan, you caught a scent drift through the breeze. Dusty paper, fresh ink and chocolate invaded your senses as your body came alive over the delicious smell. Whilst none of the smells were particularly pleasant alone, the combination had your body in overdrive as you felt your heart start to race. You were clueless as to where it came from.
But before you could alert the girls to your new sensation, an all too familiar feeling travelled through your body. The feeling of bones cracking, only to reform moments later as honey-brown fur sprouted through your skin. Your senses muddled as your primal-self took over your consciousness. As the pain dispersed and you took full form, the girls readied themselves for your initial attack but it never came, instead you raised your snout to the ceiling and whined in desperation before bursting through the old wooden door with a trio of witches following your unpredictable movements.
Casting entrapment spells and barriers to slow the she-wolf down, Lily was bewildered at what had possibly caught the attention of her best friend. Bounding through the forest as leaves and twigs crumbled under her huge paws, chasing the scent which was only getting stronger. Her finely tuned ears heard the sound of panting and paws hitting the ground heading towards them, the sound of four creatures but only one of them had a scent she was salivating at.
As you reached a clearing in the forest, a large grey-furred werewolf broke through the treeline before locking eyes with your own and carefully approaching. Following from behind the grey wolf, three other figures appeared; a majestic stag, a strong looking black hound and a young wizard, known as Peter Pettigrew but they all halted as they spotted you, and the three confused looking witches who kept their distance from the dance that you and the grey werewolf were playing. Slowing inching forward toward the unknown wolf, you felt your senses alight with excitement and warmth, this was where the scent came from.
You stood snout to snout with the other wolf before the grey werewolf placed a large rough lick against the side of your snout, eliciting a growl of pleasure to emit from your chest. You stepped closer to nuzzle your head into the chest of the beast, attempting to engulf their delicious scent fully. The werewolf encouraged your affection by offering a contented whine before nuzzling their snout into your own soft brown fur.
The trio of witches watched in awe as the two werewolves interacted like long lost lovers, almost forgetting the sheer absurdity of the situation or why the other wolf was accompanied by two animals and a wizard. But before they could question it any further, you and the unknown wolf looked towards the moon and released an unison howl, solidifying the finding of one another. If Lily was more poetic, she might have said that the werewolves were thanking the moon for showing them to each other.
As you broke away from the howl, you felt yourself shifting back into a human. A process that would often feel like being dragged through hell as your nerves burned and your mind argued with itself, was now felt effortless. Bones retracted into their normal positions without fuss and your primal side offered your human side control of your conscious with no fight, almost as if your inner wolf was at peace.
Allowing yourself to bask in the peace for a moment, you stayed with your eyes shut. As gasps fell from Marlene's mouth with the added whispers of Dorcas and Lily voicing their disbelief, you opened your eyes to find beautiful amber orbs staring right back at you. His muscular arms falling gently to your sides, entrapping you within the intimate moment your primal-selves had contrived, as his face displayed the same look of shock that you were sure reflected on your own. The smell of old books, chocolate and ink faintly drifted through your senses as you allowed yourself to take in the situation. The silence was deafening.
"Hi love"
"Um, hi Rem. Do you have any idea what just happened there?"
As Remus rose to his feet, he extended his hand in an attempt to offer help. Grasping his strong scar covered hand, you felt tingles shoot through your spine and judging from how the young wizard stared at you, he felt them too.
Glancing around, you saw two new additions to the group, James and Sirius. You thought about asking how they got there but you were more interested on what just happened between you and the man you were crushing on.
"I think I might know what happened" Lily spoke as she walked towards the both of you. "I read about this back in 3rd year when I first found out about Y/N. Apparently werewolves hold ancient magic within them, most of it has disappeared but something that stayed was anima socios or soulmates."
Feeling your cheeks heat up, you turn to look at the boy who's blush was also evident and wonder if this could be what you just experienced. Is that why your wolf felt so content? Is that why his scent made you feel warmth? Is that why you haven't let go of his hand?
"Soulmates are rare in werewolves nowadays but finding your anima socio means that shifts are easier, less violent."
The influx of information was truly overwhelming. In the span of hours, you discovered that the wizard who you harboured secret feelings for was a werewolf, and said man happened to be your soulmate. A part of you expected James to start laughing and explaining this was all an elaborate ruse.
Sensing your rush of emotion and overthinking, Remus gripped your delicate hand ever so slightly, almost reminding you that he is here for you.
"Could you all just give us a minute please?"
Murmurs of 'yes' were followed by the crinkling of leaves underneath the retreating witches' and wizards' feet. Knowing their gazes were off you and your newly found soulmate made a sigh of relief escape your lips. Neither of you knowing quite what to say left an awkward atmosphere lingering but the sense of shared peace made it bearable. Before Remus cleared his throat.
"Listen, I know that this is a lot but I have to admit that part of me is relieved"
You raised your head upwards to look at the tall man with eyebrows raised in confusion of what he had just admitted. The young wizard inhaled deeply before explaining.
"I've liked you for years but I could never tell because I knew you could never love someone like me. Even as a werewolf, you are stunning and I'd be lying if I said I didn't recognise you from your scent. As soon as I caught that smell, I knew you were nearby and I couldn’t stop myself from following it."
You stared at the vulnerable man who had just spoken the words that you had longed to hear, words that put you at ease whilst sending your heart into a flurry. Cupping his face between your hands, you finally admit some of your hidden feelings.
"Rem, I have liked you since god knows when but I didn't want you to have to put up with a monster like me. Words can't explain how glad I am that you are my soulmate because if it was a choice, I'd pick you any day of the week because you are perfect, Remus Lupin and being your soulmate is more than I'd ever deserve."
Both your eyes glistened with tears at your admission, the feeling of love and acceptance that radiated off the both of you was more intense than any shift. With your eyes connecting in the powerful hold, you felt yourself leaning in closer to Remus' welcoming aura before uniting your lips together. Both of you knew that magic was real but this was a magic like no other, this was raw magic. Emotions bled through the cracks of the walls you had both built, senses lit up with sparks at the feeling of his soft lips melting with yours. This felt like home.
Breaking away, you saw a smile take hold over your lover's face before releasing a light-hearted chuckle. "I've often cursed the moon but honestly, now I've got to thank it. It led me to you."
His words released a flock of butterflies in your stomach as you couldn't help but smile so brightly from the cheesiness of your soulmate's loving words.
"I never knew you were such a romantic, Mr Lupin"
"Let me take you out on a human date and I will show you the full extent of my romantic abilities"
The man retorted before offering his hand once more as you walked towards Hogwarts where you were sure to be hounded with questions but you didn't mind.
You had found Remus and for once, you thanked the moon because without her, you would have never found your anima socios.

a part two to snowfall
Werewolf! Bakugou x Deaf!Reader
warnings: none? some suspenseful stuff that's about it
word count: 1,000 (about)
summary: what a sweet little thing you are, perfect for some big bad wolf to come to snatch you up, luckily Bakugou is there to protect you.
As the snow settled, and the trade fair came to an end several things changed about your little town, where change so rarely occurred. The first was a foreseeable change, your family came into a bit of money after selling you wears, assuring your family would have a comfortable winter and spring. The second was that the blonde man you’d happened to run into decided to settle on a plot of land previously unoccupied. The last change was the wolf attacks.
As far as you knew there was never a problem with wolves before, but now chickens and even cattle were being found half-eaten. It was horrible really, the thought alone of some bloodthirsty dog stalking somewhere nearby.
Even with how scared you were, at least you kept your head about yourself. Some other townsfolk went as far as to say that it wasn’t a wolf, but a monster. You burst out laughing when you first heard that. Monsters were things for kids, tall tails that served as a warning to stay out of the woods at night. You were surprised at how seriously some people were taking that idea.
You watched as two old women talked, catching bits of their conversation as they turned to you.
“- I tell my kids to stay in at night- once the sun sets they have to be home,”
“-with that beast out there- Carlson lost two sheep last week,”
You shook your head and continued on your way. There were plenty of hunters in town, you felt safe knowing one of them would catch the animal responsible.
You turned your head up to the glacious sky. It was the cold bitter part of winter, no snow or cheer, just waiting for spring to come.
Luckily for you, you looked down at where you were going before you started walking again. Bakugou Katsuki was standing right in front of you. You gasped and stumbled back almost falling, luckily he wrapped an arm around your waist catching you. His smirk seemed to say  “we really should stop meeting like this,”
You squirmed and he released you “watch where you’re going,” he signed you felt your face heat up with embarrassment.
“I could tell you the same,” you shot back, He just smiled at you and brushed past you. You glowered at him as he passed until you realized that he was carrying a stack of logs over one of his shoulders, then your face soffened. Just how strong was he?
You couldn’t seem Bakugou, you supposed that it had been so long since anyone had moved into town that any new fae stood out, but it seemed like he was everywhere. He seemed to frequent the butchers at the same time you did, you found him buying thick woolen sheets from your mother one day then had to buy firewood from him the next, and of course, he was always there to catch you when you tripped.
And even though he was cocky, arrogant, and angry, you found yourself falling for him. There was just something that drew you to him and you found you didn’t mind seeing him so often.
“A defenseless girl like you shouldn’t be in the woods this late,” bakugou signed to you, appearing out of nowhere as he so often did. You straightened quickly and crossed your arms. The worst part is you knew he was right. Your parents would have a heart attack if they knew that you were lost in the trees this close to sunset.
The truth was your father had asked you to set some simple snare traps in hopes of catching a rabbit or two as a test of your independence and well, you’d gotten a little turned around. A completely understandable mistake.
The harsh January wind whirled around you, biting at your face and piercing your clothes like knives. “Don’t you know there’s a monster in these woods? What if he caught you and gobbled you up?”  he was teasing you. And you didn’t much appreciate it, but still, he probably knew the way back to town.
“But you’re here to protect me aren’t you?” you signed taking a step closer and putting your hand on his broad chest. For a moment he just stood there in awe, you had to admit it was pleasant seeing him so caught off guard.
He mouthed something that looked like “that’s right” and took your hand leading you out of the darkening woods. He even stayed back so you could show up at home unoccupied sparing you your pride. You thought, not for the first time, that Bakugou Katsuki would make an excellent husband.
It was a bitterly cold night when you saw the beast. A storm of hail and sleet beat down on your roof as wind raced around you causing the very boards of your house to shift. You were held up in the barn laying on a soft bed of hay wrapping your two goats in blankets and tucking their ears into woolen hats so their ears wouldn’t freeze. Your mother swore they would be fine, they were tough old things after all. But you had grown up with these goats, and it broke your heart to think of them succumbing to frostbite.
When you came into the barn they had been shivering and huddled in a pile of hay, reaffirming your decision to come here in the first place. You rested with them for a moment, building up the courage to brave the elements again.
The barn door shuddered as the rain beat down on it before it burst open. You jolted, falling backward into a pile of straw. Your sweet goats cowering behind you. And as the hail pelted your face, you saw it in the dark of the night. A set of glowing eyes and a hulking massive body creeping towards you.
You’d never seen a wolf, but surely this was too big to be a wolf, four times the size of a normal dog. The creature bore his teeth in a horrid snarl coming to the entry of the barn filling the doorway. You trembled and prayed that someone would come to save you. There was no way you could escape.
But suddenly the wolf shifted, tilting its head to the side and dropping the intimidating sneer. His approach seemed much less intimidating, but that didn’t stop you from crying as he came face to face with you. His hot breath beating on your face. He snorted and turned leaving the barn. You stood on shaky legs and ran as fast as you could back to the house, shaking your father awake to messily sign to him what had happened.
It only took a day for the news of another attack to spread through the town like wildfire, and this time you didn’t feel like correcting anyone when they called it a monster.
“I heard you fought the beast,” Bakugou teased, you had heard that too, the story had been tweaked along the way that you had bravely managed to escape instead of the monster simply leaving you alone.
“You really are a handful, always getting yourself into trouble aren’t you?” he teased. You were used to his teasing by now but it still made you heat up with embarrassment
“And I suppose you could do any better?” you signed angrily
“I could,” he stated matter of factly. You deflated a little, of course, he was right. He was so strong and self-confident you knew he could have done much better in your shoes.
“And if you married me, I could protect you too,” he signed leaving you stunned, had he really just proposed to you in the middle of teasing you for being a weakling?
Bakugou smiled to himself as you gingerly walked into his embrace, placidly accepting his marriage proposal. You were such a scared little rabbit, he almost felt bad. Of course, he would never hurt you or scare you like that again, you were his mate after all. He wouldn’t have even come to your barn if the rain hadn’t been obscuring your delicious smell.
Now that he had your heart all he had to do was win over your father, and with how well he’d ingratiated himself to your family that shouldn’t be hard at all. What a sweet little rabbit you were, trapped in the arms of a wolf.

personal theory for the magicians season four (keeping in mind that I know fuck all about TV writing in general / writing on the magicians in particular) is that season four got a complete rewrite at some point (obviously because of jralph leaving, and also I agree with the theory that they likely couldn’t get the actor for Irene McAllistair back) where the first few eps had probably already been generally planned out which is why they leave in the mcallistairs at the beginning and then never mention them again, and also why there is a very strong sense (to me) that, since they had to write Quentin out of the show, the show-runners planned out the series of events in the final few episodes that lead to the finale and Quentin’s death in the mirror world (in a scenario that is purposefully(?) and weirdly reminiscent of the climactic scene in the first Harry Potter movie, why why??) because they knew that’s what the whole season had to be leading to - and then went, okay, everything in the middle just has be filled in. By something. I guess. and some of the stuff in the middle is really good! and works!
I love everything they do with Alice, I would love Kady’s plotline with the hedges if a little more had happened with it, the dragon egg episode was fun and a nice break from the tension, Penny40′s part about not assuming who is the important in the story was good (although in retrospect felt extremely disingenuous and part of the original spin of ‘actually Quentin’s death is subversive’). but so little of it is tied in with the main plotlines of the monster and the library in any way that matters. the most hilarious example of this is the episode where the library starts IMPLANTING PEOPLE WITH WORMS THAT KILL YOU IF YOU DO MAGIC. This should be something really terrifying and interesting and impactful! and it literally has no impact on the plot going forward or any of the main characters. Pete gets attacked, but Pete is a secondary character that even Kady only seems to slightly care about, and it barely gets mentioned again. The whole purpose of this plot point is to show that the library and specifically Everett are Bad, so that Zelda is willing to turn against them. The Monster is such a significant character for the entire season, but his story ends with a whimper, no narrative pay-off, and so there’s the sense that he basically exists to show off Hale Appleman’s acting and provide a problem to be solved and to send Quentin spiralling. This is also a similar problem with Margo’s plotlines - Margo gets awesome stuff this season! but since Eliot is out of the picture and the Fairy Queen is dead, she’s got no one to narratively bounce off of in Fillory except Josh and Fen, who are basically cyphers this season. What does Josh want, except for Margo to be his girlfriend and not be mean to him? Who knows? The episode that they could have showed us something about Josh (the werewolf one where he and Margo get together) tells us that Josh isn’t willing to murder or rape someone to survive, which is nice? But also a really low bar that we’d expect any of the main cast to clear. It tells us very little about Josh - the point of the episode is Margo sacrificing for him. The same with Fen - what does Fen want, what does she feel about Margo, about being High King, about Margo being High King? She seems basically okay with all of it, I guess. is all we get, because again the point is Margo sacrificing her crown for Eliot. Which I love for Margo, but it’s weird that she has to spend a whole season acting off of the blank spaces that should be Josh and Fen’s characters, ESPECIALLY when we get the damn goldfish scene, where it’s like, okay, I understand that Margo is awesome and Margo sacrifices for people and this is how she shows it, and she shows that she really cares about Josh, but. Why do WE care about Josh, again? Same problem with the episode with Penny23, Marina and the time-line shifting - like, it’s a cool concept, and they wanted to bring in Stoppard from the book, and Marina’s always fun, but what’s the point? Penny23 and Penny40 have their chat, but that could have been written in a million ways. Marina’s actor was signed for four episodes and they really didn’t know what to do with Penny23 other than indicate that he’s much more willing to sacrifice people (ie. Quentin) than the OG Penny, if necessary? Okay, fine, I guess? We couldn’t have gotten that out of a more narratively significant episode?
anyway, I know the Magicians’ strong suite has never been plotting, and mostly I’m fine with that, it just stands out really noticeably this season. they have all the main domino falling events happen in the last few episodes so that they can have Quentin and Alice getting back together, the scene with Quentin and the flower to call back to the book, and then leading to the monsters and the library both causing the final mirror world death scene, but it leaves this strange space in the middle of the season in which lots of things just seem to happen, some interesting and theme-and-character-developing and some only confusingly irrelevant to either the story or the characters.

Things I want in Legacies
(Forgive me if it sounds redundant!)
Confession: Alright, if Legacies started off the TVD hype, I could think of a few ways it could have worked:
1). Bring in the Fells already! The Kardashians of Mystic Falls almost always have a hand in certain events and a certain role in history.
2) Goes back to the first one, but during Legacies' Miss Mystic Falls Event, they introduced "Bartholomew Fell Jr" (who if you go back to the first shown MMF pageant, Tina Fell's escort was one Bartholomew Whitmore - concluding they married and had a kid).
3) Speaking of the Whitmores if you wanted to phrase say Bartholomew was raised by the Aunt Sarah, aunt of Aaron Whitmore - meaning Damon spared him for not being a pureblood Whitmore - and as a result, Bartholomew's son has assets to the college and maybe revisits the Augustine Society.
4) Season 2 is still the same, but Jade and the other two (Wendy and Diego) stick around. The unholy trinity of the supernatural species living under Kai has so much potential as the evil mentor.
5) Jade is revealed to be the descendant (distant granddaughter) of Stefan and Valerie. It wouldn't be retcon if you say a miracle happened or that the fetus (dub "Jacob") had magic Valerie siphoned from and unknowingly saved it and with Jade alive, bringing Valerie back to claim her.
6) Diego. You had a werewolf with control over his shifting/had more strength than any shown wolf ever/and didn't need a moonlight ring or hybridism to be powerful + he was like Klaus and Tyler (so much potential!).
7) Wendy. You had a witch with immense fire abilities left in Kai Parker's care. Hello? Evil witch mentor coming through! (With various Bonnie references -alluding he tried to start something but settles for Humanity-less!Jade!)
8) Because I'm petty over Tyler, reveal he has a kid. The character was gone long enough before his death that he might have left a secret child behind!
9) Just acknowledge the origins of the Merge. Seriously, follow the timeline, and I bet you the answers lie in the Ancient Greek/Roman era! Either do a time skip or have Caroline come back with the origins so we can find out if both Lizzie and Josie can survive or does one of them need to be a Heretic!
10) Basically, just bring back roles the actors and actresses are willing to reprise! From my knowledge, Claire Holt (Rebekah), Elizabeth Blackmore (Valerie), Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy), as far as I know, are willing to come back.
11.) Skeletons in the Closet. I dubbed this that because TVD started 2009 and Legacies is in the late 2020/early 2030s. Would it be so terribly inconvient if bodies that that got stashed around by Damon and co. stashed over the years just do happen to be found? Sorry stans, but this chaotic neutral wants to see how those Vampires-turned-humans like Damon and Elena deal with not having magic abilities when those deaths suddenly point fingers at them!
12.) Honestly, I can see why fans are tired of the Malivore plot. So, I see Malivore dying in S1 and one of the repercussions of its death be the release of all those monsters (and humans) that were once myths be brought back into the modern world and see Mystic Falls residents (Salvatore and Mystic Falls students optional) deal with hunting them down or making friends with the intelligent ones.
13.) Bring. Back. Rafael. And. Give. Him. An. ARC!
15.) Kill Alaric. Plain and simple.

Season 12 of SPN but Better
This is my rewrite of s12 in which the main changes are after Lucifer knocks up Kelly he fucks off back to the cage, the BMOL are actually scary, and the narrative finally interrogates how people who aren’t human are treated. Note: I use monster and non-human interchangeably here. (Thank you @autisticandroids for your help with this post.)
The season starts off the same. Sam is perhaps a little more suicidal during his kidnapping, having just lost Dean and fresh off of having to be around Lucifer.
Sam’s myriad of mental health issues pop up here and there throughout the season, after Lucifer and dealing with what Lady Bevell did to him. He does his best to make sure none of this is seen by his family, but Dean eventually figures it out.
At least two episodes where the A Plot is Cas and Crowley investigating a case.
“American Nightmare” is just the start of a theme we see throughout the season of Sam bonding with monsters/non-humans/the ‘other’. He becomes a resource for them and in turn connecting with them helps him feel better about himself.
Cutting the Hitler episode because that was seriously just… :l
Instead Aaron comes back and it’s just a fun episode
Samantha Smith is amazing as Mary but please just take a moment to imagine “Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox” if Mary’s actor was actually ~28
At the end of “LOTUS” Lucifer goes back in the cage
The events of First Blood take place over two episodes so we can gets stuff like:
Cas and Mary hunting together
Cas and Mary (separately and together) threatening people they think can help them find Sam and Dean
Dean and Sam (Sam especially) losing their grip on reality whilst in confinement
Instead of the American hunters largely rejecting the BMOL many of them embrace them. Mostly thanks to the weapons they freely provide. The BMOL also import their idea of “Hey shouldn’t ALL monsters be dead actually.” This becomes a serious issue as we get to see that there are plenty of monsters who aren’t hurting anyone, but are now being hunted.
At the end of “The Raid” we get our first foreshadowing of what else the BMOL are doing when that hunter, who betrayed them to the vampires, is taken to an onsite facility full of various monsters in cages.
The boys have a case that ends up being hunters who fucked around by going after innocent monsters, and found out. It’s a not at all subtle allegory about two monster siblings, where the older sister killed a pair of hunters to protect her little brother. This is the tipping point where Dean finally has a major mental shift in how he views and treats monsters.
There’s also a case where they look into weird supernatural phenomena and it turns out to be the result of hunters disrupting completely (super)natural stuff. It’s an episode about a supernatural creature that has zero interest in killing humans, they’re just strange and otherworldly, and hunters persecuting them has caused a major local disruption in the world.
Instead of the BMOL having their students fight one another to death, they have them kill monster children. We get a flashback of Mick killing a crying werewolf boy.
After Mick has his change of mind about what the BMOL are doing they don’t kill him. Instead he is taken to the facility (seen previously at the end of “The Raid”). This is where the BMOL experiment on monsters, as well as dispose of humans by using them as test subjects. There’s a scene where we see that hunter from before get injected with something, go through a weird mutation, and dies.
The timeline has to be shifted around a little, but instead of Cas being off in heaven trying to find something to find Kelly (which lead nothing to the narrative and went nowhere) the BMOL just make it seem like that’s what he did, while really they have him locked up.
Their reasoning being that if a nephilim is going to be born they want to know all they can about angels, but also they just genuinely don’t see anyone who isn’t human as a person so why not experiment on them. The whole experience is really dehumanizing.
Ketch is there, and I would like to remind everyone about the line, “I do enjoy an angel,” which is a) haunting, and b) implies Ketch has dealt with angels before.
Remember how in “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” Cas can immediately identify that angel blade as being Benjamin’s? Ketch has a few and taunts Cas about what he may or may not have done to their owners.
They torture Cas/do a lot of medical experimentation. The torture is “extremely horny for no reason, shave your chest father of two it’s fanservice time”-y (thank u autisticandroids).
On the brighter side, Mick and Cas bond during their captivity because Cas deserves to have a friend who isn’t a Winchester. Also go ask @autisticandroids about this.
We see Mick question his long held beliefs about monsters and grow more as a character. He also gets turned into something, perhaps a Shapeshifter.
During this time we get to know various other monsters being held and undergoing experimentation.
Instead of Mary finding out Mick is dead she finds out about the facility. Same thing happens as in canon where they brainwash her. This time she’s just killing hunters who won’t fall in line with the BMOL, instead of all American hunters (which I feel made no sense).
Garth comes back at some point because of course he does. Why have an entire season about people who want to eradicate all monsters and then not bring back their one friend who would be most affected by this? His whole family and community are at risk of death if the BMOL have their way.
“Twigs and Twines and Tasha Banes” happens next season because I want Max and Alicia to be part of the attack on the BMOL and it’s better for their narrative if they disappear for a while before coming back after that episode. Instead they show up in a standard motw episode to drive home the fact that it’s fucked up to automatically consider witches to be evil.
One of the narrative points would be how the BMOL tolerance of witches is extremely conditional on them only using their magic for them, and the presence of the BMOL in America has led to an increasingly hostile environment for the Banes family.
The people the Winchesters recruit to help them attack the BMOL facility are a mix of monsters they’ve helped out, and hunters who respect them/didn’t fall in line/have noticed their friends getting murdered.
The end result is the beginning of a new relationship between hunters and non-humans.
It might be odd after a season long narrative about not demonizing people just because they’re not human, to have the Winchesters still be all “Let’s forcibly abort this fetus,” but, with the added element of Sam dealing with his Lucifer trauma all season, I think it would make sense to have Dean be in extra Protective Mode™. That combined with Cas, fresh off of having to be rescued and feeling even worse about himself, decides to take the Kline issue into his own hands. The narrative follows along with canon. Since Lucifer isn’t around it’s AU!Michael who kills Cas and Mary tackles back through the rip.
Alternatively if you hate that and want something more domestic you can picture the following: with their newfound POV TFW rescues Kelly and takes her back to the bunker, promising they’ll take care of her child.

Tumblr media
“It’s late. Where is she?” Taehyung came downstairs, realising you weren’t back yet. You have been gone for about 2 hours and it was getting late. The boys knew that you wouldn’t stay out too late because of school the next day.
“We’re patrolling so we’ll just check.” Namjoon said and Hoseok nodded his head in agreement. Stepping out onto the desk, they removed their clothes and shifted before taking off into the forest. Jimin shivered slightly, tightening the blanket around his body.
“You okay?” Taehyung asked his best friend.
“Yeah...” Jimin replied, looking out into the dark where his brothers disappeared into the woods. Something wasn’t right.
“I don’t smell her.” Hoseok told the leader as they padded their way through the forest, heading over to where your house was. Namjoon stopped and sniffed the air.
“She’s... not here.” Namjoon’s eyes widened when they arrived. The place was empty, the only people there were the two of them.
“Hoseok. Look at this.” Namjoon got Hoseok’s attention. Hoseok walked over and saw what Namjoon was staring at. On the dirt ground was your photo with your grandfather, along with your phone, which has been stepped on. The two looked at each other. There was no way that you would just drop your grandfather’s photo and leave like that.
“Something happened to her. We need to alert the others.” Hoseok said and Namjoon picked up the photo in his mouth, being careful not to tear it with his teeth.
“There’s footprints!” Hoseok saw the boot imprints on the ground. That just confirmed their worst fears as they ran home.
“EVERYONE OUT! (y/n) HAS BEEN TAKEN!” Namjoon shouted.
On cue, 5 wolves leapt out the side door and onto the dirt, serious looks on their faces. Namjoon placed the photo safely onto the porch platform. He wasn’t going to let that photo be destroyed.
“What happened?” Yoongi asked.
“We got there and she was gone. Her scent was faint and mixed with wolfsbane. There were footprints on the ground. We only found the photo she was carrying on the dirt and her cellphone was crushed beyond recognition.” Hoseok gave them all a rundown.
“No... (y/n)...” Jimin whimpered.
“We’ll split into our teams to comb the area. Be on the lookout for her scent or any wolfsbane.” Namjoon ordered. Everyone moved into their teams, the youngest 3 together, Yoongi with Hoseok and Jin with Namjoon.
“Jin hyung will follow me to alert the neighbouring packs and see if any hunters came into their borders.” Namjoon told them.
“We’ll start from the north and come east.” Taehyung said.
“Then we’ll that south and west.” Yoongi nodded.
“Be careful. Do not do anything irrational on your own. Keep everyone updated at all times. I don’t want anyone getting injured or anything else, don’t compromise your safety. Understand?”
“Yes, leader.” The 6 said.
“Someone took our mate and they’ll pay the price for it. We’re not resting until she is back home safe and sound.” Namjoon growled and all 7 wolves darted off into their set directions towards their destinations. They knew they weren’t just dealing with rogues. Sooner or later, they would have to fight hunters and they just hope that they won’t be too late.
You coughed as your eyes opened. Your cheek was pressed against the dirty concrete ground. Squirming, you tried to push yourself to sit up but with your hands tied behind your back and your ankles tightly bound, it was hard. Where were you?
“Look who’s awake?” A sudden voice made you jump. You struggled to move your head to see who was in the room with you. Your eyes narrowed on the figure that sat in the corner.
“W-Who are you?” You choked.
“You don’t recognise me?” He stood up and walked over. It was the male from before! He’s the one that set fire to your house and kidnapped you!
“Why are you doing this? I don’t even know who you are!” You shouted. The guy bent down in front of you, grasping your shoulders to make you sit up. He leaned closer to you and you pushed your head back.
“Amazing, you look like both of them.” He chuckled in disbelief.
“What?! Get away from me!” You tried to move away from him but it was the wall behind you.
“You look just like my sister and brother in law combined together. Both their features together.” He raised his eyebrows and then, it dawned on you. The man was talking about your parents, your mother being his sister and your father being his brother-in-law. You never knew what your parents looked like, did you really resemble them?
“I don’t have parents! My only family is my grandfather and he died years ago.” You spat, glaring at him.
“That’s no way to talk to your uncle.” He pursed his lips. You knew you made him mad by not acknowledging your parents and of course, saying that your grandfather, a werewolf, was your only family.
“Your mother wouldn’t have liked you relating yourself to that mutt.”
“Don’t you dare call him that! And I told you, I don’t have a mother. It’s certainly not that person who abandoned me in a battlefield.” You glowered.
“Just how brainwash have you been? That you’d rather side with those creatures instead of your own family. (y/n), they’re not normal. Werewolves aren’t meant to exist.” He slapped your cheek.
“That’s not for you to decide!” You shouted, hair covering your face as you fell back to the ground from the impact.
“You should be joining your family in this war, not going against them. We’re your only family, (y/n), not these mutts. You’re not one of them, staying with them will only lead to your death. Surely you don’t believe in their whole mate thing, right?” He chuckled.
“I very much so believe in them. You’re not my family. Those boys have been my family a lot more than you guys have.” You glared.
“Whatever you say.” He shrugged and walked over to the door, opening it. Casting me one last look, he turned around and left you alone in the dark. You wouldn’t cry, not for him.
“This is her?” Three guys and two girls walked in. You raised your head to look at them.
“Get away from me.” You glared as they came closer.
“We’re your cousins. I’m Soobin, this is Yerin, Minwoo, Jongjin and Kiwoo.” One girl said. (These are all random names with no relations to any idol)
“Yeah, pulling the family card isn’t really going to work, I’m afraid. I don’t know you guys, you aren’t my family. I grew up with my grandfather and have 7 mates, they are my only family.” You spoke. Hearing you say the word ‘mates’, their expressions darkened. It was obvious that they were part of the family ‘business’ as well.
“We know you’re upset because of what happened, (y/n). Your parents never meant to leave you behind.” Minwoo said.
“What those wolves did... They’re liars. You can’t trust them. All they are trying to do is manipulate you. You were taken from us as a revenge plot against our family.” Yerin persuaded.
“Lies. I’m not going to believe anything you say!” You struggled against your restraints.
“We’ll just wait for your precious mates to come then. That is... If they come.” Jongjin raised an eyebrow.
“Whatever tactic you’re trying, isn’t going to work. I have a more faith in them than what you think. They will come and you won’t stand a chance against any of them.” You scoffed. Soobin frowned, reaching over to grasp your jaw tightly in her hand.
“My dear cousin, you’re naive to think that they will beat us.”
“I don’t need to think, I know they will beat you. They’ve done it before, they can do it again. After all, you know what happened to my so called... parents.” You shrugged.
“You little-” She slapped your cheeks repeatedly, making you fall to the ground with a grunt. Kiwoo pulled Soobin away from you.
“Think of your position right now, (y/n). I would not pull that stunt again if I were you.” Minwoo warned.
“Maybe you need some time to think. We’ll be back.” The 5 of them left, slamming the door shut and leaving you alone in the dark. You still laid there, eyes travelling to the boarded up windows. No, you had faith in the boys, you knew you needed to put on a strong face even if you were scared and anxious on the inside. You weren’t going to let them see your weakness.
These people that claim to be your ‘family’... You don’t get it. How did they expect you to believe them when that man kidnapped you and prior to that, tried to kill you in your own house.
“Get me out!” You screamed and struggled.
Straining your neck, you looked down to see that your white crystal necklace was still there. That was your only connection with the boys now.
“Screaming won’t help. No one can hear you. You’re not where you think you are.” Soobin came in. Her arms were crossed and her eyes were hard. You looked away.
“What are you doing back so fast?” You spat as she sat you up to lean back against the wall.
“Thought this may help you think better.” She threw something in front of you.
“What?” You stared at the image and back at her.
“That’s your parents. And you.” She rolled her eyes. Hearing that, you turned your head, refusing to look at the picture of the couple and the baby again. That baby wasn’t you. It was someone else. Those people weren’t your parents. You would never call such monsters parents.
“LOOK AT IT!” She held your face and shoved the picture right in front of you. You let out a sarcastic chuckle.
“Desperate, are we?” You smirked.
“You think your little mutts are such angels and we’re the bad guys. Did you even see the state of your own parents?” She placed more pictures in front of you.
“Look at what your precious wolves did to them!” She screamed. From the side of your eyes, you glanced at the pictures of the dismembered bodies. Even if you didn’t care, your stomach churned at the gore.
There were bite marks, chunks of flesh ripped out, exposed bone and blood everywhere. You wouldn’t even have known what you were looking at if it weren’t for Soobin telling you what the picture held. It was a blood bath, the aftermath of a war. Soobin was obviously livid, but not because of your stubbornness, there was something else.
“When did your parents die?” You asked.
“Ask your precious mates that. If you have the chance to, before I kill them.” She said spitefully, leaving.
“Wait.” You called and she stopped, turning around. She had such a look of hope in her face, as if she was victorious in persuading you.
“Take the pictures. They’re worthless to me. It’s disgusting.” You said and she frowned even deeper. Pursing her lips, she spun back and walked out of the room. With your bound legs, you swept the pictures away.
“Some family.” You scoffed.
When the door opened a few hours later, you were faced by your uncle and your cousins. But they weren’t alone, they had some people behind them.
“What?” You drowned out. There were 5 boys behind them. From their vibes, they definitely weren’t hunters. They had fiercer looks on their faces and they were dressed differently. The 5 boys stood in front of you. Their aura actually made you shrink back a little.
“Who are you?” You asked cautiously.
“The princes’ mate is this?” One guy looked over at you in disbelief. You frowned, were you supposed to be offended by his words?
“Yes, that’s her.” Your uncle nodded in confirmation.
“You want to take over the princes’ right? She will make you come right to your door step. Like bees to honey.” Yerin crossed her arms. Wait, take over the princes?
“We’ll take her then.” The boys cast you one last glance and walked away with your uncle. Suddenly, Kiwoo and Jongjin came over, grasping you by your arms and lifting you up. This was your chance.
“Stop kicking!” Jongjin grunted as you struggled to get free. You squirmed, thrashed and kicked around.
“What the hell? You guys are just selling me out to these strangers?” You screamed until Minwoo forced a cloth gag into your mouth. No, you were going to give it everything you got. They sat you down in a van that you assumed belonged to those boys. You glared at the 5 people that were supposedly your cousins. Talk about family betrayal.
“Don’t worry, cousin. We’ll see each other again very soon.” Soobin smirked at you.
“They’re wolves, aren’t they? They are trying to use me to get the boys’ place! Why are you even working with them?” You spat.
“They are. But they’re not what we’re after. There’s a bigger prize we’re after. And who knows, we may just kill two birds with one stone.” Kiwoo shrugged. This guy was speaking in riddles.
“Let’s go.” The 5 boys came out again.
“Goodbye, cousin. Don’t miss us too much.” Minwoo said as they stepped back. They all waved at you.
“Yah! Some wolves you guys are! You know they’re hunters and you’re working with them?! Have some dignity! They’re just trying to use me to kill all of you sooner or later!” You shouted as those boys hopped into the van with you, one sitting in the driver’s seat.
“Silence her.” One glared.
“Don’t touch me!” You warned. Suddenly, a damp cloth was wrapped over your nose and mouth as someone held your head in place. You kicked around, trying to scream until you slowly blacked out.
-
“If only we can mind link her.” Yoongi cursed. Namjoon had just came back after alerting the neighbouring packs but so far, none of them had any intruders into their territory.
“Where could they have taken her?” Jin stared at the pail of water. His finger drew along the surface of it and 8 images appeared.
“She’s still alive. I don’t think they have hurt her much yet.” He looked over at the others.
“Cowards!” Jungkook growled as he kicked the tree outside. They were at a dead end. Where could they even start to look for you? Even with their parents informed, what could they do? There were just too many possibilities with where the kidnappers took you. Hunters were good at hiding themselves from wolf packs.
“Come on.” Jimin laid in his bed, trying to force himself to sleep. Their mate bond was strong. If he had appeared in your dreams before, he could do it again. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“(y/n)?” Jimin looked around the forest.
“Please! (y/n)!” Jimin shouted as he ran around the place. He ran to the field he often met you but you weren’t there. Tears streamed down his face.
“Jimin?” He heard your voice.
“(y/n)!” He turned around but you weren’t there, he was alone. Jimin continued running. The next place was the lake. As he ran there, he slowly saw the lake come into his view.
“(y/n)...” He called softly as he saw you standing in the water.
“(y/n)! Baby!” Jimin ran to the edge of the water. You turned around and your eyes widened at the sight of him. Quickly, you ran over before he could even enter the lake. You were dressed in a beautiful white dress but Jimin didn’t waste time to fawn over your beauty.
“Chim.” You hugged him.
“Where are you, my love? Where have you gone?” Jimin cried. You held his cheeks and it felt like you were really holding him.
“I don’t know where I am, Chim. But be careful. There are too many things going on now. I’m afraid things end in bloodshed.” You said worriedly. Jimin kissed your forehead.
“Bub, don’t worry about bloodshed. We won’t rest until you’re back.”
“I’ve learnt so much about the people who are supposed to be my family, Chim... It’s horrible.” You cried against his chest. He tightened his hold around you.
“Don’t cry. No more tears, angel.” He whispered.
“Chim, the rogues-”
You gasped as cold water was splashed on you, ruining your dream connection with Jimin. Luckily, the water was able to mask the tears that spilt from your eyes. Shivering, you looked up at the 5 boys that stared down at you. They were angry, their gazes filled with rage as they stared down at you. One pulled your hair back, making you wince.
“Why so quiet? You were pretty mouthy earlier, were you not?” He taunted. You glared at him.
“Glare all you want. You’ll be here for a while until your little princes come and save you.” They all smirked.
“You guys will never beat them. You’re wolves working with hunters, that’s a joke!” You sneered and the one who held your head angrily slammed your temple into the wall.
“Easy. We can’t have her dead before the princes arrive.” Another one chuckled. You felt something warm drip down the side of your head.
“I agree. At least give her the chance to watch her precious mates die before she meets her own end.” They all cackled evilly. The man released your hair harshly and you blinked repeatedly, trying to focus your vision with the throbbing in your head.
“Your princes owe us a lot. They killed two of our brothers.” One raised his eyebrows.
“Because... you sent them after me!” You force out. They shrugged in response.
“You guys are damned if you think that those hunters would have easily let you take me like that without anything. They will come back and it will cost all your lives!” You threatened.
“Oh, we know about their little plan to come and supposedly kill us once we have killed the princes. But we can take them. They’re just pesky little humans that have too much free time on their hands. Hunters don’t scare us.” One threw his head back in laughter. These boys or rogues were too naive. Namjoon has told you before to never underestimate hunters.
There’s a reason that they have managed to wipe out so many werewolf packs in the past decades. There’s a reason hunters still exist.
“The princes’ mate is the daughter of the top two hunters. Or... ‘were’ the top two hunters.” They teased.
“Using those people against me won’t work. Those that came before you have already tried. I have no feelings for any of them. I don’t care how they died, when they died, why they died.” You spat.
“Interesting... Family feud.” One nodded his head.
“Well, we’ll be back, princess. Sit tight.” They stood up and walked away. Like before, you were left alone in the darkness.

okay bc i love tay @babydotcom and also bc i love talking about my original work im gonna talk about my books!!
so at the moment, im writing 2 of them! one of them is Nobodies Hero, a fantasy tale that is mostly narrated by a grouchy side-character and i have a sideblog that's basically a collection of my world building from the past 5 years and any posts i see that fit the characters or the world (@nobodieshero-lore)
the other is much newer (started maybe a month and a half ago) and is more of an urban fantasy called Arson: and other crimes which is basically going to follow the main cast through all the supernatural shenanigans and self growth they go through.
at the moment Arson is more of a concept? i have yet to figure out an actual plot, i've actually been trying a new approach to writing where i build all the characters first! most of my notes for Arson are just short scene snippets and dialogue, such as:
Time seemed to slow as the siren exploded from the flaming water, droplets of fire raining down around her as she reached out her webbed claws and exposed those horrifying needle-like teeth in a shrill scream of rage. It was awesome and terrifying, and Jai was forced to admit that maybe this time they wouldn’t be so lucky, maybe this time he was going down in a blaze of fish-scented glory. And then the scream was cut off as, with a sudden hollow sounding thwack, the siren’s head snapped to the side, the rest of her body thrown off course as she veered to the left and landed with a wet smack against the cement, a trail of slimy fire left in her wake. Kauri was standing in front of him with a thick metal pipe held tightly in their hands, hair a mess of thorns and ash as their shoulders heaved with each angry breath. Flickering orange light danced across their skin, the flames reflected in the dryads furious eyes as a new vine of thorns curled past their cheek. If someone had put a gun to his head, Jai may have been able to admit that he'd fallen in love right then, but there was no gun and no questioning so Jai shoved that shit deep down where he'd never find it.
There are currently 8 characters official characters, but i intend to make more bc 2 out of the 8 are mostly side characters/helpers.
uh we've got:
Jai, who is the quiet but stern researcher teaching himself magic; he mostly communicates through facial expressions and single sentences but if you get him started on whatever he's researching he can go on for ages (trans + gay)
Kauri, who is a dryad with a short temper. they're loud and passionate and also end up naked a lot because the concept of clothing makes no sense to them. my favourite thing about kauri is honestly their hair bc they've got vines that also grow from their scalp, and they grow/bloom/wild/grow thorns depending on their mood (as shown in the above snippet) (nonbinary)
Orli, who's a member of a werewolf pack. not everyone gets the lycanthrope gene, but she's just as snarly and protective as the rest of them. she works as a barista in her families cafe and she's got killer first aid skills. (asexual + lesbian)
Vince, who is Orli's older brother and did get the lycanthrope gene. he's just neat, i love him. he's usually the get away driver, or he'll bring them snacks and shit when they're on big research binges because he cares about them. he's basically a big ol' puppy (trans + bi)
[UNNAMED], who is a telepath with a weird name. her parents gave her up when she was young due to her being a "difficult and creepy child" and she kinda floated through different foster homes before she was tracked down and adopted by her uncle. She's funny and calculating, and in most situations will watch other people to figure out the best outcome for herself. she's almost always wearing a pair of headphones her uncle gave her that are warded against outside sound, so she can listen to music and block out everyone's thoughts. (lesbian)
Seftan, who's unnamed's weird but cool uncle. he's slept his way through half a bestiary and so is generally unphased by most things. he has 2 dogs and lives in a cute little 2-storey apartment/flat thing. he's either magic or knows a magic user bc he's got a lot of interesting books and wards set up and he also squints at Jai a lot. he calls unnamed a series of nicknames which are: nosy-nancy, no-name nancy, miss no-name, or just 'nancy' (inspired by nancy drew) (an opportunist)
Beau, who is a ghost from a circus! he died in the 1890's after getting stabbed to death in an argument with a sword-swallower, and is now stuck on the mortal plane bc he never got to finish his contortionist act. he's tied to a music box and gets handed around to different antique and thrift shops which is how he ends up w the rest of them.
Milo, who is possessed by an Ancient Creature and is therefore unable to stay dead. he has pretty yellow eyes, a hankering for roadkill and a whole other form that he can shift into. he's loyal as hell and genuinely doesn't see what's wrong with dying for someone he cares about, he's also mentally ill bc i think anyone would be if they were possessed and also kept dying. (demi + bi)
i think my favourite thing about Arson is that it's gonna be kind-of-not-really written like a survival guide or a diary? i don't know how to explain it properly but, like, there's gonna be random pages with tips for 'those in danger of kidnapping' or first aid or an info page on the monster/threat they're facing etc
but there's also gonna be other stuff like unnamed's playlists or what Kauri's moods are depending on their vines, or a steadily updated list of weird places Jai has been found sleeping.
uhh that's all i've really got so far without just slapping all my notes into a post so yeah! if you have any questions (or ideas?) please feel free to ask/share bc it can help with my creative process.

Moonlight (Geralt x werewolf!reader)
Summary: You seek the help of a Witcher to help you with your first full moon after being bitten by a werewolf, not expecting a lot of things to happen. Especially not that you would fall for him.
Warnings: I wrote this when I was sick so apologizes if it sucks, werewolf!reader, slight angst, fluff, strong language
Word Count: 2,693
7k Mythical Creatures Masterlist II The Witcher Masterlist
Tumblr media
You might not have turned for the first time yet, but you know that having a Witcher in town in the week of the full moon is not good for you. He could hunt you down that night and kill you all because you have no control over your monster-like side.
On the other hand, something tells you that he might be able to help you. If you appeal to him, convince him that you truly don’t want to hurt anyone, perhaps he can give you some advice, and perhaps he can make sure you don’t actually hurt anyone.
The latter thought seems to appeal to you more. So, you attempt to seek him out.
Knowing that he prefers to keep to himself, that he camps outside of town instead of renting a room at the inn, you venture into the woods to find him. You’ve come to the woods many times, finding that your senses have started to grow stronger with the nearing full moon. It must be a werewolf thing.
You come across a camp with nothing but a horse in sight. A horse, but no Witcher. And yet, you can sense someone is here. Turning around, either to walk away or to check your surroundings, your eyes meet a sword pointed right at your face and it makes you step back as you gasp in shock. “I’m not looking for a job. I’m just passing through,” he roughly says.
A job. Your plea for help might have appealed to him more if you came here with coin to offer him. “I’m not here to offer you a job to kill a monster,” you softly say, holding your hands up in defeat.
You catch his eyes flickering down to your wrist as your sleeve slightly falls. Before you can step farther away from him and pull your arm out of his grasp, knowing fully well what he’s seen, his sword is now at his side and your wrist is being held firmly in his hand.
He’s staring at the bite wound on your arm, the scar that you can’t get rid of and that you hide so that people don’t find out what happened to you or what you will turn into. But long sleeves were not enough to fool a Witcher. “This is a werewolf bite,” he grunt, glaring up at you as you pull your arm out of his hold.
“I’m aware,” you snap, holding your arm to your chest as you narrow your eyes at him. “If you intend to tell me what this bite means, then I’ll spare you breath and tell you that I know,” you say when you see him going to speak again. His expression doesn’t change though. “Which is why I’m here.”
“I’m not going to kill you,” he quickly states, walking past you and heading to the small firepit his things are placed around.
You turn around with him, staring at him with a small glare. He thought that’s the reason you’re here? To ask him to kill you. “I’m not asking that you kill me. I’m asking that you help me,” you state, walking forward to follow him into the heart of his small camp.
He turns his head over his shoulder to look at you as he places his sword down. He does nothing but stare at you for a moment before he glances down at your arm again, gives a short ‘Hm’ and sits down on a fallen log. “You’re asking the wrong person to help you.”
“I thought I’d be asking the right person to help me seeing as how you’re experienced in what werewolves do,” you fight back, walking forward and rounding the long so that you can stand in front of him. He lifts his eyes up to you, staring at you through his lashes as he keeps the emotionless look on his face. “I don’t know what I’m doing. The werewolf that bit me was killed in a tavern fight a few weeks ago while he was in human form and he told me that he would help me,” you explain, folding your hand in front of you as you take a small step forward.
He sits up straight, lifts his head up and rests his elbow on his knee. “This is your first full moon,” he states, rather than asks, and you give a small nod. Then, he stares at you again.
There’s silence between you two for a moment and it makes you a bit anxious. What if this Witcher is plotting to kill you when you shift? What if you’ve just rung the bell for him by saying that you’re a werewolf now? “Are you going to help me or should I run as fast as I can and pray that you don’t follow me?” you snap at him as you fold your arms over your chest.
A smirk grows on his face as he pushes himself to his feet and steps closer to you. “You’re afraid that you’re going to hurt someone,” he concludes. You eye him as he steps closer to you.
“I didn’t ask for this to happen to me. I don’t want to pass this curse on to someone else,” you say, unfolding your arms and rolling your shoulders back. “Will you help me?” you ask, your voice soft as you stare up at him.
He hums. And you don’t know if that’s a good sign or bad sign. He turns around to walk away from you and sits back on the fallen log. “We leave at dawn,” he bluntly states, taking you off guard and making you speechless.
You walk closer to him. “Leave at dawn?”
“It will be easier if you’re as far from civilization as possible,” he mentions, his eyes flickering up to you as you sit down beside him. “You can’t hurt anyone if there’s no one around you to hurt,” he murmurs, but you catch his words clearly and nod your head as you bite your lower lip.
Sighing, you glance down at your hands as you fold them together. “So, I guess this means that I’ll be living in isolation from now on then?” you question, turning your head to him and finding him staring at you. His eyes seem brighter up close than how they looked when you were a few feet away from him.
“If you don’t want to pass this curse on to anyone else, then yes.” You nod at his words and tear your gaze back to your hands in front of you. “Sometimes, it’s for the best to be alone,” he adds, looking away from you to stare at the ground.
“At least you have a horse,” you mention. Your words make him give a short chuckle that in turn makes you look back at him. “Name’s (Y/n), by the way.”
He looks back at you, barely turning his head but his eyes still landing on your face. “Geralt.” His reply is short and almost grunt-like.
You didn’t think that it would be easy to convince him to help you, but you’re glad that you’re not going to be doing this alone.
Tumblr media
The day of the full moon, you’ve never felt more nervous in your entire life. Geralt and you have grown a bit closer on your venture to this place, and he started to open up more to you. His conversations are now more than one sentence, they aren’t grunts anymore, and he’s more responsive.
Geralt walks up behind you as you watch the sun slowly sink. He’s felt your anxiety the whole day, he knows you’re dreading this. And he knows that no matter how many times he tells you what you want to know, it doesn’t help you.
“I won’t remember anything that happens while in wolf form?” you question, wrapping your arms around your body when you realize that the sun has a little ways to go before it’s fully set.
Placing a hand on your shoulder, Geralt turns you around to pull your attention away from the sunset. “Not a single thing.” You drop your head as he speaks and let out a long sigh. “And I’ll be here to make sure you stay in the area-”
“What if I hurt you? Or kill you?” you cut him off, pushing yourself away from him and walking in the cave you two were standing in front of. Geralt told you that you need a covered place to turn because that will be the place your wolf will return to at the end of the night.
He walks after you. “That won’t happen, I promise,” he says, making you stop pacing and drop your head between your shoulders. “This might be the first time I’m helping a werewolf through the night instead of trying to kill them-” You harshly turn around to stare at him with wide eyes. “-but I trust you. Do you trust me?”
Do you? You’ve only known him for a few days. He’s a Witcher, a monster hunter. And you’re a werewolf, a monster. You shouldn’t trust him really. All you have to go on is his word that he won’t kill you through the night.
He told you that after tonight, you’ll be fine by yourself. That you’ll have a sense of what to do, what will happen, and that your wolf form will have a territory to roam during the night. But what if that’s not enough?
You swallow hard and let your arms fall to your side. “I-” You think about the past few days, how he never looked at you in disgust, distrust, or evilly like he was plotting your death. If anything, he made you feel like a normal human. “I trust you,” you whisper.
Looking over his shoulder, you see the sky growing dark and a dim light being cast down from the full moon. It makes a breath catch in your throat and you step back farther into the cave. “You’re sure about all this?” you question, gesturing around the cave and question the fact he said of the cave being like a beacon to your wolf form at the end of the night.
He chuckles and steps closer to you. “I’m sure about this,” he whispers, stands in front of you and holds your gaze. “You will be fine. I promise,” he says, stepping even closer to you and places a piece of hair behind your ear.
“I’ll see you at sunrise?” you ask, your hand subconsciously resting on his chest as his thumping heart pulls your closer.
He hums.
“I’m counting on your word then, Witcher. But in case I don’t,” you whisper, grabbing his collar and pulling him down to kiss him. He places a hand on your cheek, kisses you back and stops you from pulling away too soon.
You don’t know if your heart is racing because of the kiss, or because you know that soon, you won’t remember any of this and you’ll probably be attacking him because of the bloodlust he told you about. But that doesn’t stop you from indulging in the way his lips move with yours. Or how he pulls your body closer to his as your hands run over his shoulders.
Your body jolts, breaking the kiss and a pained whimper to leave your lips. Staring up at Geralt with fearful eyes, you push him away and walk back as far as the cave goes. “Go. Please,” you beg, lowering yourself to your knees as you feel your heart beating in your ears and feel as if your blood is going to set on fire.
You’ve told him that you don’t want him to see you turning. I don’t want anyone to see you turn into a monster. You don’t even know if you have the strength to hear yourself screaming in the pain he says comes with the shifting.
He keeps his eyes on you as he walks backwards to the entrance of the cave. He doesn’t think that - after kissing you and spending the past few days with you - he’ll be able to see you in pain. Turning and closing his eyes when you groan in pain before a scream echoes around the cave, he quickens his steps and pulls out a Witcher potion. If he wants to keep you in this territory, he needs all of his strength.
As he sits a little ways away from the cave, he tries to mediate to block out the sounds of your bones breaking and shifting as you turn into your wolf form. That always happens the first turning. Bones have to break and change. The next time, it will be easier because those bones would have already been changed. But the more he thinks about blocking out those sounds, the more they ring in his mind.
Until they stop.
A low growl sounds in the cave, giving him the signal to drink the Witcher potion and stand to his feet.
He turns around, throws the vial to the side and sees a humanoid-like wolf emerging from the cave. A lot of things could happen. You could remember who he is and not attack him. Or your bloodlust to take over and you could attack him. Or you could realize that he’s a Witcher and decide not to attack him and run away.
When you growl and snap at him, he knows that it’s the middle option. It’s going to be a difficult night fighting you and not killing you.
Tumblr media
You realize you’ve been staring at the cave wall after seeing your shadow being cast by the rising sun. The night’s over. Your first full moon is done. And you don’t feel the slightest relieved about it. All because you don’t remember a thing about what happened.
Seeing Geralt’s shadow appearing on the wall, you slowly push yourself off of lying on the stone ground and pull your knees to your chest. Your clothing ripped while you turned, the remains in the corner of the cave remind you of that.
When he reaches behind you, he wraps a blanket around you but you refuse to look at him. “Thank you,” you mutter, pulling the blanket around your tighter as he helps you stand.
“You’re not going to look at me?” he questions, holding your hand in his tightly to stop you from turning away from him even more.
You’re scared to look at him. You’re scared to see what you’ve done to him, what scars you might have left even though you should be relieved in the fact that he’s alive.
Sighing, you slowly turn your head to look at him. And the only wound he has is a scratch across his cheek. But it seems to already be healing and doesn’t look that bad. “You’re okay,” you breathe in relief, your body relaxing as you turn to face him fully. “Did I give you a hard time last night?”
He shrugs his shoulders and steps forward. “It wasn’t anything that I couldn’t handle. Like I told you it would be.”
You chuckle at his word and glance down at the wolf pendant on his chest. You can hear his heart slowly beating, but it doesn’t bother you that much anymore. It’s more like a hum now. “So, I guess this is where you leave me then?” you ask, remembering what it was that brought you to him; asking him for help for your first turning.
He’s done that now. He doesn’t have a reason to stay anymore. Right?
“What if I don’t?” he asks back, surprising you and making your eyes to snap back up to him. “I mean, you are a handful on a full moon.”
You laugh, smile at the thought that he’ll stick around with you for however long, and step closer to him. “None of that’s my fault,” you whisper, resting a hand on his chest as you stand on your toes to lean closer to his face.
All he does is hum, cup your cheek and lean forward to press a kiss to your lips.

honestly, my fury at the lack of werewolf culture/history/worldbuilding is worthy of its own post. Let me know if by some ungodly chance, you actually wanna hear my thoughts on it // Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
ohmygod yes, pls, enable me.
SO.
I think I mentioned b4 that Teen Wolf hates werewolves.
This is a show about werewolves like, yeah, sure, they do other plots and stuff. But the main character is a werewolf. The vast majority of the cast are werewolves (at least in the first half of the show). But think about it. What do we actually know about werewolves? They uhh, they shift on the full moon. But like, what about the full moon? Cus’ Scott gets handcuffed to a radiator and he doesn’t shift and break out until the moon comes out from behind the clouds and he screams like it’s excruciatingly painful for him. But then Derek and his Betas are underground during their full moon, and they shift like it’s all fine and dandy (they’re furious, but there’s no pain) and it doesn’t matter whether they can see the moon or not. They, uhh, they’re allergic to wolfsbane/it’s poisonous to them (btw it’s poisonous to literally everyone, just the scent of it is enough to cause seizures and hallucinations in humans. It’s a whole other frustration that they won’t make up their fucking minds abt it. It’s one thing to say that this is some parallel universe where wolfsbane doesn’t poison humans (bc lydia makes them hallucinate with the punch but injesting that much wolfsbane should kill you, and Stiles straight pulls a plant out of the ground; should’ve caused itching, burning, a cough, nausea, fever, headache and More hallucinations) and yet Jackson has to see a doctor and gets told he’s got Aconite Poisoning. So WHAT IS THE TRUTH?) but apparently not enough for Derek not to be able to plant a wolfsbane plant and massive cord of roots (which he would’ve had to tie together himself) in a revenge spiral around Laura’s body. But just being around it causes wolves to lose control. But also there’s supposed to be different strains that do different things? And also sometimes you burn the wolfsbane and it becomes the cure, or you have to burn it out of them or you just cut it out of them? Make UP Your MIND or at least ACKNOWLEDGE that different strains do different things. They get stronger on a full moon. But does that mean they get infinitely stronger with every full moon they experience? Does that mean they get weaker during new moons? They’re stronger in packs. Okay, but they never establish what the fuck a pack is. Is it an agreement? Is it a magical bond? Scott just sort of says people are in his pack. Does that mean they are? Do the humans he knows make him stronger? Just how strong is this bond? Derek makes a claim that “You have your own pack now” so is that a joke, was he mocking scott? Or is he saying that there’s no need for an Alpha and just being a beta with some friends counts as a pack? Apparently they have some kind of...animal magnetism or mind control? Derek uses a funny voice and a guy wakes up from a near coma to look at him with seemingly no control. Peter can force Scott to shift up. Derek forces Isaac to shift down. Derek has an insane amount of control over dogs and makes one lose its fucking mind from like a hundred feet away? Scott makes one calm down, but derek sends attack dogs running with their tails between their legs. Is it actual control or is it just a persuasion? Is it just intimidation? I haven’t even gotten to culture. You’re telling me that we get an entire episode of Allison discovering the entire story behind the Argent clan’s origins as werewolf hunters, why they started, how her name means Silver and apparently that’s where the entire myth of silver hurting werewolves comes from, but we don’t get to know anything about the first werewolves? Where they come from? If they’re a form of evolution or just straight magic or if it’s a curse or a gift from the gods? There’s an entire hidden werewolf population with packs all over the world, but somehow there’s literally no wolf culture? No moon worship? No specific terminology (Alpha, Beta, and Omega are terms used by a really fucking stupid biologist who studied frantic wolves in captivity and cast aspersions on the entire species. He’s been disproven a Thousand Times. NONE of that Alpha, Beta, Omega shit is right. Packs aren’t Hierarchies of Dominance. They’re families. They’re led by two wolves, yes, an “alpha pair” that’s literally JUST THE PARENTS. THE ‘BETAS’ ARE THEIR KIDS. This terminology makes sense if used by HUNTERS who consider werewolves to be mindless dumb animals. WHY THE FUCK would werewolves use it to DESCRIBE THEMSELVES?) besides the absolute minimum of ‘I caught a scent?’ Are you serious? Then there’s werewolf ages. Oh my god that was so fucking lazy. Saying that werewolves don’t age like humans, but that Cora is seventeen “by human standards” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? I’ve seen theories that go so many different ways. The idea that Werewolves live really long lives because of the superhealing. The idea that they live really short lives because their healing just burns through their body really quickly. The idea that their lifespan is directly correlated to the amount of damage they take because they can only heal so much, so wolves who get hurt a lot age faster than wolves who don’t. There’s NO explanation! You’d think it might be an interesting point for Scott to find out that he’s gonna live to fucking 200 years old. (How old is Satomi again?) That sounds like something a Teenager would be daunted by. We see them make fun of Stiles a few times because he believes werewolf myths about silver, and then because he believes Peter when Peter tells him he lives in a series of underground caves. But like...why not? THESE ARE WEREWOLVES why did you just make them humans with extra facial hair? Where are the traditional mating rituals (or even the concept of a mate/life partner, can you imagine how interesting that would’ve been? If Scott found out Allison was his mate? Or if he suddenly had all these weird urges around her, like rubbing their foreheads together or cuddling her way too much or wanting to bring her food? That would’ve been fascinating and hilarious as subplots for their romance!) where are the full moon runs or pack get-togethers? Where are the aversions to perfumes or cologne? Where are literally any animal behaviors besides AGGRESSION? Where is the den-making? Can werewolves eat fast food or does the grease bug them? Talia was a famous Alpha bc she could full shift. Does anyone know why she could do that? “Evolution” is a bullshit answer, let’s be real. It’s shitty writing and it put Derek through so much more than he deserved. THEY ACCIDENTALLY ESTABLISHED that ALL HALES can full-shift! IT’s NOT EVOLUTION. It’s BIRTHRIGHT. Talia fullshifted. Peter full-shifted (though his was distorted into the monster thingy. That wasn’t anything like Deucalion’s shift. It was a FULL SHIFT) Laura could full shift bc she did it after she died. No other werewolves on the show turned into full wolves after death, even if they died with wolfsbane in their system? MALIA could full-shift into a coyote. LITERALLY EVERY HALE except Cora and that’s bc she got booted back to South America COuld FULL SHIFT (and it never happened after they lost all of their wolf powers, that coud’ve been an interesting plot if they didn’t FUCK IT UP.) But still there’s no explanation, or even just acknowledgement? You don’t have to spell it out for us, but at least SAY “Hey, so the Hale family is really powerful and all of us can full-shift. Not sure why, but it’s neat.) I’m still stuck on rituals. Routines. Werewolf mores. Social cues. Are there certain smells they’re supposed to ignore? Is it polite to pretend you don’t hear someone coming up to your house until they knock? Do they have rules about waiting until the Alpha eats before they start eating (much like how lots of traditional households wait for the father to dig in, or whoever is head of household)? Is it tradition to homeschool werewolves for the first few years until they learn control? Are there seriously no rules about biting humans? You don’t have to talk to their parents or have a specific conversation with them? And if werewolves are so dominance/hierarchy based, then you’re telling me there’s no “second-in-command” or respectful greetings that are supposed to be used for an Alpha? There’s absolutely no form of werewolf government or ancient laws or anything except a big spiral that is universally recognized as a sign you’re gonna kill people? What was the wolfsbane around Laura’s body for? Why make the spiral out of that instead of just drawing in the dirt or something? We make a lot of jokes about Derek being bad with his words, but so is Peter and so is Cora. And they’re the only born wolves we interact with (except Satomi who ALSO isn’t a chatterbox) What if that’s not just because they’re all traumatized and cranky? What if they’re just speaking on a different level? Scents and body language are integral to wolf interaction. Like how we say that Peter has that conversation with Derek’s eyebrows? What if Derek’s so fucking pissed all the time because he hates talking to Scott because SCott ISN”T LISTENING to his body language and scent and chemosignals? He tells Scott to use all his senses, and Scott does it fucking once to say that Peter felt “Angry” and never again. What if Derek is Talking PLENTY (with his body and movements and reactions) but Scott just isn’t paying attention? Isaac seems to understand Derek just fine. Erica and Boyd never complain that Derek is lying to them or ‘keeping something’ from them? What if the reason Scott always thinks Derek’s hiding something is because he isn’t reading the rest of Derek’s conversation and he assumes that the empty feeling is Derek lying. Even STILES seems to understand Derek. He’s human, but he goes totally wolfy. He already uses body language a lot and while he gets mad at Derek he never has to ask what the fuck derek is saying or what he’s holding back. I digress. I wanna know why no other packs came to help Derek and Laura after their family died. I wanna know why Emissaries and Druids are so incredibly important to the supernatural/werewolf world but Derek barely knew they existed (Especially when it’s established that he know tons of lore about other species.) and even though every single pack should have an emissary, they never handle who is the emissary for Derek’s pack or for Scott’s pack (Once again, is an emissary bound to their pack somehow or is it just an agreement?). I wanna know why Derek knew Satomi and trusted her but for some reason never felt like he could ask her for help? Centuries of hiding and living amongst humans with almost no wolf behavior to their name, but none of these packs interact? There’s Druid Vets and Hunter cops and Emissary counselors. But no werewolf doctors? No werewolf teachers? Absolutely no werewolf society? If Derek was worried about Paige not accepting that he was a werewolf unless she became one, what does that say about his experience with humans? He says “there were people in my family that were perfectly ordinary in that house” who died in the fire. But wouldn’t he talk to a human pack member about his worries, if he had one? Or even a bitten pack member? He admits he doesn’t know how to train a Bitten wolf. He’s never been called out by a human pack member for using phrases like ‘caught a scent’ or for reacting to things he shouldn’t. Does this mean Derek’s family was entirely werewolves? No humans in the know? No bitten wolves? He has a huge thing about keeping the secret and never letting anyone in on it unless they get dragged into it. Did Derek’s pack have some kind of prejudice against humans? Was Derek raised to believe humans were weak or cowardly or something, that he thought this beautiful girl would automatically hate him and expose him if she were to discover the supernatural without being forced into silence by self-preservation.
Lots of times, it’s easy to forget in this fandom that so much is missing, because we’ve been filling in the gaps for so long that some stuff is practically canon. It’s generally assumed that the Hales were homeschooled before high school. It’s generally assumed that there’s some kind of bond that marks people as pack. We instinctively add in mentions of Scent and the use of the shift (growling, claws, a hint of fang, flashing eyes) as part of the casual communication between characters. We add in scent-marking and territory boundaries and specific roles in the pack. We do all of that and never think twice because it’s already in all the fic. But we did that. The show gave us nothing. It spent an entire season talking about the nogitsune and the oni and how they’re summoned and what kitsune fox tails are for, but we never got to find out why wolves can do the pain-drain (or even if it dissipates the pain or just transfers it to the wolf doing the draining) or if Derek Hale EVEN HAS A DAD.

A Cure for Insomnia CH. 10
Even with the fatigue you felt after your laughing tic, you couldn't go to sleep at all last night. Which isn't a big deal, after all you are a chronic insomniac who has had an on off sleep schedule this week.
After twelve fifty-two hit and you still weren't tired or even close to doing your tired tics you did the only thing you could think to do on this technical Saturday morning. You started on your weekly tidy of the house. Bless whatever powers at be that you ended up in this cottage outside of town rather than an apartment unit surrounded by neighbors. The amount of complaints you would've gotten would have surely gotten you evicted.
It's not like you could stop this behavior, well you could but if you start doing nothing when you have spurts of insomnia you'll get lazier when you need to be productive. Banking on the fact that you'll just do it when you have insomnia. It happened all the time when you were in school, and while that worked for a while it wasn't a healthy way to cope with your sleep disorder.
You've found doing productive things or anything you would do when the sun was up typically helps you regulate you circadian rhythm faster than it ever did when you just laid in bed praying for sleep to take you.
It isn't at all surprising when you finish your chores around two forty that morning. With nothing better to do and not being at all in the mood to do any attempt at art or reading. You decide to settle in to watch a movie. It starts with scrolling through Netflix and seeing Coraline, then that turns into Paranorman, which turned into Corpse Bride, several episodes of the old Twilight Zone.
By the time you were finished with the fourth episode it was already one in the afternoon. You really needed to start baking if you wanted fresh cookies for the movie tonight. Setting up your monster movie hard drive to play a movie for background noise you set out on baking.
It's a super simple recipe you started using back in high school but it's always a hit at parties. Maybe it's because you fold candies, chocolates, nuts, or whatever topping into each cookie individually. You can't say for sure but everyone loves them, and you think that's nice.
Creaming butter while the sounds of a woman screaming in agony as a zombie eats her lower intestine seems very much on point for you. However, you soon find yourself drowning out the movie as you hyper focus on the mixing of ingredients. You tripled the recipe, hoping to make a mixture of mini sugar cookies, mini chocolate chip cookies, and mini mini M&M cookies. If you had thought about it more you might have grabbed a jar of maraschino cherries to add them to the mix. Although you think three batches of mini cookies might be a little excessive so four may have been overkill.
'Oh well, no turning back now.' you think preheating the oven for four hundred degrees and roll tiny half inch dough balls while you wait.
After about fifteen minutes you assume the oven is hot enough to start baking. You line the first tray up all with sugar cookies. You only get two thirds of the bowl down on that tray. It was your biggest one too. Setting a timer for ten minutes so you could turn the cookies to let them bake for another three after that, you turn your attention to folding a handful of chocolate chips into the next bowl's dough balls. Placing the new chocolate chip dough into the bowl holding the rest of the sugar cookie dough as you go. You nearly finish that when the timer goes off to spin the tray. Honestly at this rate all your dough will be ready before you even have one bowl down. You hope you can finish baking in time for the movie.
It's five o' two by the time you put the last batch in the oven. You've been cleaning as the cookies baked and now your kitchen is nearly clean once more. Just a few more dishes to do after that batch comes out and you pack up the cookies.
Letting the most recent batch have a chance to cool you start placing all the cookies in your three largest containers. You'll need to grab a fourth container for the last of the cookies, but all the cool cookies are now ready for transport.
And with how early in the evening it is you should eat something now so you can have some room for snacks later. Time to finish off that pizza. Taking a slice out to the bins and placing it neatly on the ground for Chonk, whenever it is he decides to come and claim it, you turn back around to finish baking and get your dinner. After pulling the cookies out and setting them to cool you reheat your dinner for tonight.
Sitting down, plate in hand, you're just able to catch the shift into the next movie. Teen Wolf 1985 starring Micheal J. Foxx. Not a scary movie by any means but you keep it in the storage drive for rainy days. And even though today isn't raining you think it'll be a good watch.
You can not believe how utterly painful that was to have just watched. It was so average that it might as well not had the werewolf aspect at all! The acting was average, makeup was ok for the time, but the writing was just the worst. And the ending basket ball scene? It felt like a cheesy early 2000s Disney Channel original movie. You're pretty sure if you combined several Disney movies you'd have that exact plot. Hell Don't Look Under the Bed was scarier than that, and it was a better story too.
Checking the time you see you have about the average length of a Disney Channel movie before you have to leave. Good because you really want to watch Don't Look Under the Bed now. Switching over to your Disney+ account you find said movie and rush to put everything up as it runs through the beginning credits. With cookies packed away and the containers stacked and ready you plop back on your couch to immerse yourself in the early 2000s “horror”.
Just as the hand comes from under the bench to caress Fran a knock rings through your home, effectively startling you. Your eyes shift over to your front door, it's nearly eight thirty on a Saturday who or what is all this far out? Getting up from the couch you make your way over to your door, unlike every horror movie you have your phone and contacts pulled up and ready to dial. Phone behind your back and thumb hovering over Hollis' contact you open the door. Where three figures greet you.
Tim stands in front of the other two, dressed in dark jeans a gray tank top and red flannel with the sleeves rolled up past his elbows. Brian stands behind him and to his right, he's wearing regular jeans and an olive v-neck. Jesus fucking Christ is it 2012 and no one told you? Toby off to Tim's left is in black jeans a black t-shirt with a green short sleeve button up that has a little alien head pattern. Well, they don't look like they're here to murder you with an ax, so you move the hand from behind your back and let it rest by your side.
Missing the two tense gazes as you move the appendage.
“...Um, hi?” what would normal people do in this situation? Was this even a normal situation to find yourself in, what with three men you've just met at your front door.
Tim seems to be looking for his words, he must be out of his element as well. On the other hand Brian seems content to let Tim flounder around for a bit, all the while Toby wrings his hands together. You can't tell if it's from nerves or his tics.
“Hey..uh, so you mentioned Saturday Dead. But we're new so..and we..” Tim is even worse with human interaction than you are.
“We were wondering if 'stop it' if you wanted to ride with us and give us directions.”
Oh that makes sense.
“Yea sure thing, c'mon in. I'll go get ready.”  You give the men some space to enter your home. Then lead them to your living room,
“Make yourselves comfy.” you say as you leave them to change.
Once in your room you lock the door, although you believe you have a good reading on Toby to not be the type you can't be too safe around new men.  You opt to change into the first shirt you grab from your closet, black t-shirt with several flatwoods monsters on it along with the phrase 'squad goals' and a pair a black joggers. Perfectly comfy for a chill movie night at the crypt.
“That was fast.” is the first thing you hear when you reenter the living room.
Toby had no problems making himself comfortable in your home, since he is sitting on the couch, seemingly watching the movie with your fidget cube in hand. Brian and Tim, on the other hand, were leaning on the wall separating the living room and kitchen.
“What d'you mean?” you asked Tim confused, tilting your head to the side.
“Well, uh” he seems embarrassed by this for some reason, “women normally take a long time changing is all.” Ooooooh now you get it he's a misogynist.
The room goes quiet with Tim's stupid opinion. Toby ceases all fidgeting, Brian however looks as though he's a cat that caught a canary. He must enjoy the pain and embarrassment of others, the dick.
“Mmmh I don't think that's true,” you'll let this one slide but Tim's on thin ice, “Anyway I'm not a woman. I'm trans agender.” Tim has the decency to look embarrassed for stuffing his foot into his mouth. But it isn't really his fault you never mentioned your pronouns or lack of gender to him, and you mix and match your masculine and feminine days. Understandably you won't blame him for not knowing your pronouns but that misogynistic comment will still be marked as a red flag.
“I am so sorry.” and he truly does sound sorry for the slip up.
You shake your head and shoo away his apology, “It's good, you didn't know.”
“We ready to go?” you ask looking around the room. Tim and Toby nod, the younger man moving off the couch to stand with you all when Brian speaks up.
“Actually, Toby don't you have to use the restroom?” Said man pauses on his way over to your little group, “No.” voice laced with confusion and irritation.
Tim jumps in with a stern, “I really think you should.” Toby cuts his eyes at Tim and Brian.
As weird as it is for one grown man to tell another to go to the bathroom, let alone two grown men, you quickly remember Toby's CIPA.
“Dude the drive itself is gonna be nearly an hour plus the two hour movie. The Cryptonomica only has one bathroom and like thirty people will be there tonight.” You assumed you'd also get a glare for insisting on the matter. But you only get Toby's furrowed brow in response and he looks uncomfortable right now, not intimidating. He's probably embarrassed that his new acquaintance...friend? Is also present for the topic of his bathroom habits.
With another glare to Tim and Brian, Toby pushes past you and down the hallway. Normally this would leave you in an awkward situation but thankfully you have escape tasks!
Marching over to the entertainment center you turn off the TV. Spotting your fidget cube on the table where Toby left it, you decide to pocket it just in case he'd want to use it for the movie.
A loud thud startles you and you look up to see Tim picking up a few books that fell from the bookshelf.
'Weird...' you think as you watch him place them back onto the shelf they fell from.
“A...sorry.” as he places them back you notice one side of the shelf is tilted downwards. It must've just lost that little nub that holds the shelf up in that corner. You probably have a few spares floating around in one of your trinket holders.
You give Tim a small 'it's fine' as you pass him on your way to the kitchen. Cookies all set on the counter you go over to your fridge and grab the popcorn bag off the top. Opening the fridge and retrieving the Surge for Kirby you are all set on your snacks for tonight.
Placing the Surge and popcorn on top of your cookie containers you go back to the living room to join the boys in waiting for Toby. Who is already coming out of the bathroom, drying his hands on his jeans....He knows you had a towel for that right?
“We should be good to leave now.” Brian says turning from Toby to you.
“Ok yea, after you guys.” you side stepped  back into the kitchen doorway to let the men pass you.
“Want some help?” Toby asked as he walked closer. And as much as you wanted to say no you had it, you really didn't want to drop the Surge and have a big mess everywhere.
Nodding to him, thinking he was just going to take the things at the top or even the top container with them. Toby reaches out and barely brushes your hands at the bottom before taking the entire load into his own arms.
It felt like someone rubbed sandpaper across your knuckles and fingers where his hands touched. The burning sensation persisted even long after his hands had moved away.
It's the first time you've gotten bad vibes from Toby's touch. He's probably in a bad mood, his touch hasn't held much intention before but this hurts. Or you could totally be reading too much into this with too little sleep and you just aren't having a tactile day. You never have tactile days really just small windows where if someone is lucky they can squeeze a pat on the shoulder or a high five out of you.
“Hey, that's not helping.” you call out following the men out of your home.
“It's not?” he asks, “Then what is it?” why's he have to sound so smug about this.
“Condescending.” Toby blinks in surprise at the no nonsense tone of your voice.
You weren't harsh with your words...at least you don't think so. You were just stern in how you said them, wanting to get your point across.
Turning from the men you lock your door and check twice to make sure. When you turn back to face them you grab the top two containers of cookies, and subsequently the popcorn and Surge laying atop it, from Toby.
“This is helping. I could do this much at least.” Toby nods dumbly as you pass them and make your way to the cars.
“We can take ours, we'll drive you back.” Tim says unlocking their little sedan.
That seems fine, after all if you ended up wanting to stay later Kirby would totally let you crash on the couch in the basement and take you home in the morning. Or whenever he woke up tomorrow. And that way you wouldn't be keeping the boys too late. It is their first Saturday Night Dead and first time meeting most of the young adults in town. The night was bound to get draining.
You agree and hop into the back seat on the driver's side, Toby sliding in from the opposite side, leaving Brian to take the passenger seat and Tim to drive. You and Toby place the cookies in the middle seat and you thank him for his help. He quickly nods and looks out the window, knee starting to bounce slightly.
“Where am I going?” Tim asked as you all got buckled in.
“Ok, so we can either drive all the way through town or drive through the forest and across the river.”
“Which is faster?” Brian chimes in as Tim bristles.
“Forest.” You do catch Tim's reflection rolling his eyes at your reply.
To be fair with this group you wouldn't chance getting stuck in the forest on your way to a horror movie night. Like that's kind of a horror movie cliché right there. You and Toby are young enough that you're sure someone would mistake you two for late teens, in fact you know it's happened to you several times in the past week alone. While you're fine going into the forest at night by yourself it's only because horror movies don't center around one person dying in a forest by some ancient entity.
'But they do start that way.' that thought almost makes you want to cut back on your nightly hikes, unfortunately you have no other coping mechanisms for your insomnia other than hiking or driving. So you'll ignore that thought for now.
The car is quiet as everyone waits for someone to respond. Toby's knee bouncing is more obvious as it begins to jostle the car. He's also staring down at his hands, still red from his picking yesterday, wringing them together. Clearly the stationary car is getting to him, he breaks the silence.
“Will someone fucking say something?”
“Sorry,” you say gently to him, “Yea we can just go through town. Tim do you know where Whistle's Auto is?”
“Uh yea,” you catch his quick glance towards Toby in the rear view mirror.
“Cool just head in that direction and keep on Highland Street.”
That's all you had to say before Tim was shifting gears and driving off. You notice quickly that he's a faster driver than Toby was. It's yet to be seen if that should make you uneasy, you'll have to see how well he breaks.
When you guys had made it through town and Tim came to a stop in front of a sign proudly stating 'Welcome to the Cryptonomica' they were understandably concerned by the lack of a building or any other cars. You get out of the car and grab two of the cookie containers, when you made a grab for the other two and the snacks on top Toby kept them out of your reach and exited the car as well.
“So where is...everything?”
“Oh we have to hike. The shop's further in the forest.” you say as you walk on past Tim.
“You said people were gonna be here.” Brian chimes in.
Right this now looks like you have dragged them to a parking lot in the middle of no where in a small town that they don't really know people in. Great going YN. Way to look like the bait for a weird cult looking for sacrifices.
“Yea the Hornets. They're the local “biker” gang.” the stunt group probably had the dirt bikes out today, it was nice enough for it.
Understandably the men hesitated before following you. Toby was the one who quickly caught up with you, perks of longer legs, and matched your speed to the shop. It didn't even take five minutes before you saw the shop and a few Hornets out front smoking or just plain loitering.
A chorus of “YN!” “Hey we missed you last week.” “Yo, did you hear..” rang through as you greeted the group. Upon seeing the containers of cookies the chorus was replaced with cheers and you were given excited praise as they made way for the four of you to be let in. So embarrassing, you flush under the praise getting a little energy boost from it as well. Your mood however changes when you lock eyes with the person running the booth tonight. Keith Warren, second in command and assistant manager of the Hornets. Despite having no beef and all the same friends you two have never clicked. It's almost your thing to be completely rude to each other when you do interact.
“Warren.”
“LN” his disdain is clear too, “Ten dollars bucket.” he hadn't even looked at you the jerk!
“Forty tonight, brought friends.” you placed the containers you had on the table as you dug the money from your wallet to pay for you all.
Keith does look up at that, literally the only time more locals come in is during Halloween when they want to get into the spooky season. So he's surprised to see three new faces attending Saturday Night Dead.
“Hey there, name's Keith.” you roll your eyes as he introduces himself to the group, you'll just slip away now since you already paid.
“Rude!” Kieth calls out, “Small talk!” you respond. You vaguely hear the rest of the introductions and Keith waving off the guys when they try to pay again. Oh maybe you should have actually told them you'd pay for their tickets, you thought it was obvious you invited them and they even drove you here. It's just polite that you cover their tickets this week.
Soon Toby is back by your side, you have a feeling you won't be able to loose him tonight if you tried, as you walk through the shop and towards the trap door in the back. The trap door that leads to the panic room converted into movie theater on Saturdays. Once you get down you bee line for the table in the back that is already half filled with snacks and some sodas. With Toby still following you he copies your moves of opening the containers and placing them on the table. You take the Surge and popcorn away from Toby, throwing the popcorn over in the direction of your corner seat and bring the Surge over to the man working on the white screen set up.
“Present.” Kirby pays no mind to you as he struggles with the screen. So you wait silently for him to just kick the thing and move on. Like clockwork Kirby kicks the bottom cover and the rest unravels perfectly.
“I need to replace this.” he says, just like he does every week.
“Oooh thank you.” he grabs the battery acid marketed as a beverage and spirits off. Weird guy.
“That's Kirby, he runs this place. Normally very chill but between the Picnic and movie night he ….just needs a break.” it's the nicest way you can put it. Toby just nods and scans the room wringing his hands together uncomfortably. You've noticed he hasn't ticced once since leaving the car, maybe he's suppressing them despite how anxious he clearly is.
Doing your own scan of the room you see that Tim and Brian haven't made their way in yet, Keith probably talking their ears off. Better them than you, you suppose. You're about to ask Toby if he wants to find them when the local power couple walks in.
“Party starting soon my dudes sit tight!” Jake announces as he and Hollis walk in to take their usual seats.
“Op spoke too soon babe, YN's here.” Hollis let out a chuckle when you rolled your eyes.
“Came without a soap box, hope cookies are suitable.”
And both are already grabbing a few of your mini cookies before they've even sat down. You really are glad you made them. Remembering Toby's with you, you introduce him to your friends.
“Tobais these are my friends Jake,” the blonde smiles warmly, “and Hollis.” They cover their mouth and toss a peace sign up as their mouth is still full. “And this is my friend Tobais.” he raises a hand to greet them.
“Hey, you're the new guy over at Auto right? You fixed Katrina's bike up quicker than Lewis ever does.” When Toby nods Hollis continues, “Man she's been saying how much smoother it rides now. Think I can stop by this week and get you to take a look at mine?”
“Yea, that should be fine.” and with that the two began to talk shop, literally. They just started talking about Hollis' bike. Normally all the Hornets do their own maintenance on their bikes but their motorcycles still need inspections and what not. This is really working out for you, your friends all getting along.
Thankfully it seems the topic calms Toby down a little, and you can see a head twitch or two make it's appearance as the two speak. Hollis being the chill person they are, and being used to your own brand of tics, makes no comment or acknowledgment of his tics.
Jake pulls you into a conversation about plans for a hang out at H2Woah that was fun, later after all the picnicing was done. Said he wanted to try surfing in the wave pool, you aren't sure about it but you agreed you'd teach him at least the basics of surfing if he taught you how to snow board. Didn't take much for the deal to be sealed.
Tim and Brian finally made their way down to the basement and you raised a hand so they could find you and Toby. Really it wouldn't have been too difficult but with everyone starting to pack in you didn't want anyone to be out of the group. Introductions had been made and everyone took to their seats.
You were already in the corner opening your popcorn when Toby sat down on your left blocking you from the rest of the room. Thinking on it if Toby wanted to eat he'd probably be too self conscious of his scar to take his mask off.
“Hey...actually would you mind if we switched?” he just gave you a lazy look before standing up and letting you scoot into his previous spot before sitting down in your spot. This way you could in theory block the view of his scar later.
You notice how his eyes dart in the room, despite Brian and Tim being just behind you two Toby still seemed on edge in the space. He has looked a bit uncomfortable all night, maybe that's why he was sticking to your side. You're way less outgoing than Brian is and Tim seems content to let him do his own thing. You feel bad, like you pressured him into coming and now he's paying for it. Toby looks a few minutes away from ripping the skin around his nails off again and you don't want a repeat of that.
“Here.” you whisper as the lights go off, handing Toby the cube from your pocket.
It's a quiet moment between you two as the trailers of the DVD play out and Toby focuses in on the cube. You note how he gravitates to the marble and joystick sides the most, always moving his thumb across each in a counterclockwise motion before reversing for a beat. Counter counter switch counter counter switch counter counter counter switch.
Once he found his rhythm with the toy you see tension leave his shoulders a little. Is he even able to feel the tension in his muscles?
You shift focus to the screen as the opening credits play out. And if you weren't sitting so close to Toby you'd missed the clucking sound coming from him. Knowing he'd get more anxious about his tics in this “quiet” setting you opt to ignore them and focus on the movie. After all the more relaxed he is the less likely he is to tic meaning the less anxious he is and more he can enjoy himself tonight.
About a third of the way through the movie you catch Toby sliding his mask off one ear, letting it shield his scarred cheek, and grabbing a handful of popcorn. You can't hide the giddy grin on your face from the action. To say you were worried about Toby not enjoying tonight was an understatement. But he had to have felt some comfort to slide his mask off in public, right? Your reassurance comes in the form of another handful of popcorn, as Toby pays no mind to you and only to the demon currently dancing on the screen.
With a terrible movie playing and a less anxious friend at your side you settle down a bit more yourself. Barely noticing when your head falls on Toby's shoulder as you slip into unconsciousness.
You wake up to the roaring of Kirby's snores and popcorn in your hair. A typical Sunday morning for you since arriving in Kepler.

Tumblr media
*sweats* yeAH i know the one gbdfjgh. It’s very much a Halloween-centered piece so I was incredibly sad tumblr decided to end its life the one time i actually hit a deadline i’d set for myself, but it’s been kind of just...marinating in my docs folder since then. I might post it formally on FFN eventually, but in the meantime, i’ll post it on here below the cut!
“Guys, you will never guess what’s running around Ninjago City."
Jay’s announcement is met with a distinct lack of reaction, which is pretty disappointing, because it’s the kind you drop for a dramatic pause and reaction. And he did — try to, at least.
However, instead of reacting properly, like anyone in their right minds would, his team is woefully un-reactive. Nya continues to snore into the couch, her face pressed against the couch pillow in a way that’s gonna leave a spectacular mark later, and Cole’s too busy referee-ing Lloyd and Kai, who are in the middle of their sixth round of Dance Dance Ninja Revolution, which Jay can’t really blame him for, because they chose a Rihanna song this round and they’re getting a little too into it.
“How did you get that bonus and I didn’t!”
“You gotta pop your hip on that last move, like this—"
“What, and crack my spine in half?”
“I mean, your bones are pretty fragile.”
“Fragile?!”
“Yeah, ‘cause you’re so old.”
“I’ll crack your spine, you tiny brat—"
Zane is the only one to actually acknowledge him, even if it’s a slight cock of his head from where he’s video-chatting Pixal, making him the only one of these terrible people Jay actually likes right now, unless Kai manages to make a comeback and beat out Lloyd, in which case he’ll celebrate with him.
But it’s looking unlikely.
“Are you talking about the vampire rumors?” Zane asks.
Jay’s expression sours. Never mind, he retracts his appreciation of Zane now. Way to steal his thunder.
Kai snorts from where he’s waving his arms in a butchered kind of Macarena. “Seriously, Jay? Those rumors crop up every year. There’s no vampire.”
Jay glares at him, mentally switching his loyalties to Lloyd, as it looks like he’s going to wipe the floor with Kai anyways, because he’s just snatched that one difficult bonus Kai usually wins where you hair-flip like a diva.
“This is for real, though,” Jay argues. “It was reported on the police scanner. Someone’s running around biting people!”
“Maybe they’re just into that,” Nya yawns, burrowing her face further into the couch pillows. “Don’t be so judgmental, Jay.”
Jay colors, and Kai chokes. Lloyd gives a triumphant crow of victory, doubling his score at the last minute, leaving Kai solidly in the dust. Kai makes a sour face, collapsing on the couch and crossing his arms.
“You cheated.”
“Not my fault you got distracted,” Lloyd shrugs. He turns to Jay, wiping the sheen of sweat from his forehead and looking curious. “Wait, they’re really reporting that someone’s out there biting people?”
“Or something,” Jay says, quickly seizing on the attention. “Something bloodthirsty that goes around biting people’s necks, which obviously has to be a vampire.”
“It says here it steals their wallets, too,” Zane remarks, scrolling through the news article.
“A wallet-stealing vampire,” Jay amends.
The others look decidedly unimpressed, which is rather insulting and extremely disappointing. Geez, you fight one giant stone titan and a few mythical, apocalypse-bringing monsters and suddenly no one’s impressed by anything anymore.
“Sounds like petty crime, not our thing,” Kai yawns. “Besides, vampires don’t exist.”
Jay sputters. “Are you kidding me?” he exclaims. “They totally exist!”
Cole raises an eyebrow at him. “You know those vampire books are fiction, right?”
Jay presses his lips together tightly. “Are you telling me,” he says, stiffly. “That after everything — everything we’ve seen — which includes and is not limited to warriors made up of tiny snakes, a walking eldritch horror that’s actually another realm, and living skeletons — you don’t believe vampires can exist?”
“Well, yeah,” Kai says, simply. “Because those other things are real. Vampires aren’t.”
“You didn’t even think the Serpentine were real!” Jay accuses, because Kai’s opinion is clearly trash here, and he obviously should’ve started by attacking Cole, or Nya.
“Jay, chill,” Lloyd says, rolling his eyes. “Whatever it is, it’s not a vampire, unless someone stumbled off the set of a B-movie horror film. They don’t exist, Jay."
Jay opens his mouth, prepared to fire back, because of all the people to argue with him, Lloyd has no right at all, he’s a walking eldritch mutant himself — when Lloyd suddenly continues.
“It’s clearly a werewolf, if anything.”
Jay stops, his mouth half-open. He blinks. “Wait,” he narrows his eyes at him. “You don’t believe in vampires, but you’re game for werewolves?”
“Yeah,” Lloyd shrugs. “Werewolves make sense.”
“And vampires don’t?!”
Lloyd shrugs. “I mean, after Akita and the Formlings, you know?” He pauses, eyes widening as he contemplates something. “Wait. Is Akita technically a werewolf?”
Jay seizes the opportunity. “If she counts as one, then Oni count as vampires,” he argues.
Lloyd frowns at him. “What? No. That doesn’t even make any sense.”
“Oh yeah?” Jay counters. “Then explain why they both have fangs. And glowing eyes. And drink blood.”
“I don’t drink blood!” Lloyd exclaims, indignantly. “And neither do Oni!”
“How would you know?” Jay challenges. “You’re just a tiny little quarter Oni.”
Lloyd glares at him. “A quarter Oni with teeth that can bite you—"
“Okay, okay!” Cole says hastily, shouldering between them. “No one’s biting anyone, geez. I’m taking this opportunity to declare it time for bed.”
“Aw, but I didn’t get to trash Kai yet,” Nya yawns, waving absently at the still-scrolling game on the television. Zane quickly turns it off.
“We can trash each other tomorrow, after six a.m. practice,” Cole huffs. Everyone groans in unison at the reminder.
“We should start getting skip days,” Kai grumbles into the pillow. “Like, mandated days we get to just sleep in instead.”
“You would use that every day,” Zane sighs, tugging him up. Jay watches as they slowly pack up, preparing to head off to bed.
Unbelievable.
“Wait, so we’re just gonna let this thing run loose?” he exclaims, waving his arms in the air. “Ignore our civic duty for sleep?”
Cole pinches the bridge of his nose between his fingers. “Jay, there’s one article about it, and these kinds of things crop up every year,” he sighs. “It’s just some Halloween pranksters using it as an excuse for petty crime. The police can handle it, okay?”
“But a vampire,” Jay bemoans. “What if it’s real?”
“Or werewolf,” Lloyd corrects. Jay would elbow him for that, but — aha. Lloyd has that spark in his eyes, the one that means trouble. Jay’s hooked at least one person then, even if it’s for the totally wrong reason.
“Whatever it is, according to reports, it will still be here tomorrow,” Zane says. “Halloween isn’t for another day, and it usually strikes then. If it means that much to you, we can look for it then.”
Jay squints skeptically at him. Kai and Cole are both wearing expressions that say they will not be helping with that particular excursion, and Nya’s already halfway into her room, clearly writing him off as well. Hmph.
“But by then, we won’t have a sighting to follow,” Lloyd says, hesitantly.
“Good,” Kai grumbles, apparently done with the conversation. “Then we can forget about make-believe monsters.”
Jay is pleased to find that he and Lloyd are still just as effective at giving people the stink-eye in perfect unison as they’ve always been.
“Drop it, guys,” Cole warns, his dark eyes tired. “You can argue over this in the morning. When we’re all dead tired at dawn practice.”
Jay scowls, but he nods. He knows a lost cause when he sees one.
However, he also knows when a cause isn’t lost. He trades looks with Lloyd from the corner of his eyes, and Lloyd gives him a tiny, imperceptible nod. Halfway into their bedroom, Kai suddenly turns on them.
“And you guys better not sneak out to hunt it down by yourselves,” he says, his eyes narrowed. “The police have it covered. There’s no such things as vampires or werewolves, but if I wake up at three a.m. tonight and find out you guys snuck out, you’re gonna wish one had already killed you.”
“Geez, overreact much?” Jay mutters.
Lloyd rolls his eyes. “We’re not gonna sneak out just to chase down a few rumors, Kai,” he scoffs. “We’re not stupid.”
Kai eyes them both. Jay can almost see him mentally scrolling through Lloyd and Jay’s Best Hits, Screwing-Up Edition, in his brain, and he doesn’t like it. Like Kai has room to talk about dumb decisions.
Kai finally shakes his head, sighing as he heads for his bed. “I swear,” he mutters to himself. “If I have to fish you out of a river later…”
“You won’t!” Lloyd promises cheerfully. “Word of honor.”
**************
As it turns out, Lloyd’s word of honor is garbage. But so is Jay’s, so he’s not gonna judge.
“Okay, the reports said it was last sighted over in the east sector in the sewer tunnels, so I vote we start here,” Jay tells him in a hushed voice, as they plot their path from one of the city rooftops, the dim streetlights blinking down below. “There’s a bunch of bars and stuff around, so if I was looking to steal someone’s wallet by biting them, I’d go here. Down for a stakeout?”
“I’m game,” Lloyd says, slightly muffled through his mouth of—
Jay blinks at him incredulously. “Are you eating our garlic bread right now?”
Lloyd freezes, shifting guiltily and quickly swallowing. “No-o?”
“Lloyd!” Jay hisses. “We need that for the vampire!”
“Then you should’ve gotten actual garlic,” Lloyd hisses back. “I got hungry, and we’re carrying around garlic bread! Can you blame me?”
“Hmph.” Jay glares at him, then snatches the bag Lloyd had been hiding behind him. Lloyd makes a face.
“S’not like we need it anyways,” he mutters. “Garlic doesn’t work against werewolves.”
“It’s not a werewolf,” Jay retorts. “And even if it was, it’s not like we have any silver.” He frowns. “Wait, doesn’t silver work against vampires too? Maybe I should’ve gotten us some…”
“Got it covered,” Lloyd says, pulling a small ziplock bag from his sweatshirt pocket. They’ve opted to wear civilian clothes tonight, as one, they’re trying to be inconspicuous, and two, it’ll make it a lot more difficult for Kai to claim that they were out breaking their promise if they aren’t in very distinctive, undeniable gis.
“I snatched a pair of Nya’s earrings earlier,” Lloyd continues. “Sterling silver counts, right? ‘Cause they even have these little bits on the back you can stab people with.”
Jay blinks rapidly. “You snatched her—"
Well, actually, on second thought, it’s not the worst thing they’ve ever stolen from each other. And it’s definitely not the worst purpose for such a theft, either.
“Okay, nice, we got silver,” Jay says instead, trying not to think about what Nya’s reaction to finding out her earrings were used as lethal injections for a vampire is going to be.
“The better prepared, the lower the chances of dying horribly,” Lloyd says, cheerfully.
“Please don’t phrase it that way.”
“You literally said that exact same thing to me last week, on the Metallonia mission—"
“You must’ve had water in your ears,” Jay waves him off, knowing full well he did say that but having zero intent of admitting it. “Anyways, it’s just one vampire. We can handle this, easy.”
“Or one werewolf,” Lloyd says, pointedly.
Jay takes a very long breath, then lets it out. If it were Kai or Cole, maybe he’d pick the fight. But it’s Lloyd, and he’s risking Unholy Big Brother Wrath as it is.
“Fine,” he half-surrenders. “If it’s a werewolf, we can handle that too. But it’s not, because it’s clearly a vampire.”
“That’s what it wants you to think,” Lloyd grouses.
Jay rolls his eyes, shoving the rest of their supplies back in his ratty old backpack. He cranes his head over the edge of building rooftop, watching the evening crowds just beginning to flood into the bars.
“Now what?” Lloyd whispers, materializing next to him.
Jay, with his reflexes as sharp and well-honed as they are, does not nearly jump off the roof at Lloyd’s sudden appearance. He doesn’t squeak, either, the look Lloyd is giving him is just — Lloyd being a terrible gremlin.
“Now,” Jay clears his throat instead, taking on an air of expertise, because he is an expert. “We wait.”
**************
In the excitement, Jay has, tragically, forgotten how absolutely boring stakeouts are.
Really, he should’ve brought a board game or something.
“—somethin’ strange, in your neighborhood. Who you gonna call.”
Jay punches his hand in the air without enthusiasm where he lies on his back, yawning, “Ghostbusters.”
“Dun dun, dun dun, du-du-dun—" Lloyd continues humming the bridge, staring up at the sky where he’s got his arms beneath his head, sprawled out next to Jay.
“You know, I still swear I heard the ghosts playing this back at Styx,” Jay murmurs.
Lloyd’s humming halts, and he snorts. “Maybe they had a sense of humor.”
“Heh. Yeah.” Jay frowns. “So wait, this is your favorite holiday song? The song about ghosts? Really?”
Lloyd nods. “I ain’t afraid of no ghost,” he sings.
Jay makes a face at him, then shrugs. Well, he guesses he doesn’t have room to judge people’s coping mechanisms. He still deals with spiders by blowing the entire room up. “That’s one way to deal with it, I guess.”
“I like the irony,” Lloyd continues, with a lopsided grin. “Also, like, do any of us deal with our issues?”
“Ye—" Jay pauses, considering. Huh. He knows they’ve all been putting off therapy, but sometimes they, like…cry all over each other? At three in the morning? That counts, right?
He supposes that doesn’t quite equate.
“I stress-baked eight batches of brownies with Cole one night and ate half of them after the Oni thing?” he offers weakly.
Lloyd stuff a fist over his mouth, holding back a laugh. “I ate a whole container of frosting with Nya after the SOG thing.”
“That’s where it all went?” Jay snaps his head up, his eyes accusing. “Lloyd, that was our only cream cheese frosting! I was going to use that for a meltdown!”
“Oops,” Lloyd says, unapologetically. Jay digs his foot into his side, and Lloyd jerks away, giggling.
“You, I’d expect, but Nya…” Jay grumbles, processing this betrayal. “That’s like, cliché teenage heartbreak coping there.”
“Well, I mean,” Lloyd says, his smile suddenly painfully forced. “Kinda…was. A bit.”
Jay frowns. “Wha — oh.”
Oops. Too late, Jay realizes that he has accidentally stumbled into a mine zone. He should know better, seriously — Lloyd probably does not want to talk about teenage heartbreak right now. Or any time…soon, considering his last and only romantic excursion kind of…stabbed him in the back and got crushed by a building. Amongst other things.
“So!” Jay quickly says, trying to cut through the sudden awkwardness and turn the conversation to something better. “How is, uh, your life going, in that…area…?”
Never mind, Jay’s mind screeches at him. Abort, abort, this is going somewhere worse—! Maybe if he’s lucky the vampire will just come attack them now. That would probably go better.
Lloyd’s expression screws up, like Jay’s forced him to eat a lemon, or a ghost pepper, or like, swallow pure Venomari venom. “You mean my love life?” he spits, as if the word love is a personal insult.
“Not necessarily,” Jay says quickly. “I mean, no, but also…yes?”
“Nonexistent as usual, which is probably the best I can hope for,” Lloyd mutters, kicking at the ground.
Jay bites his cheek in sympathy. His poor baby brother. His voice finally stops cracking and he immediately decides to swear off love for life.
“Look,” Jay says tentatively, feeling like he should at least try to impart some wisdom on his kid brother. “Have you thought about like, I dunno, trying to meet new people? Just like, you know, being open to, uh, the idea of trusting someone…like that?”
“Yeah,” Lloyd grinds his teeth. “I’ve also thought about getting ‘love is a joke’ tattooed on my wrist as a nice reminder because that’s about how well it tends to go for me.”
Jay cringes. “Aha,” he breathes. That is — that is bad. Yikes, that’s…bad bad, maybe they should book a therapist. One of these days. Probably sooner than later, going by that statement.
Lloyd sighs, suddenly deflating. “I dunno, Jay. I just…maybe someday? I don’t really wanna think about it.” The edge of his mouth twists wistfully. “It’d be nice to just be a kid again, so I could stuff my face with candy instead.”
“Hey,” Jay says, elbowing him. “Who says you can’t stuff your face with candy now? We can totally hit up the store on the way home, you know. Zane can’t stop us if he’s not here.”
Lloyd cracks a grin, and Jay is infinitely pleased with himself. “After we catch the werewolf?” Lloyd asks.
Jay glares at him. “After we catch the vampire, and I prove all you heathens wrong,” he grinds out. Lloyd snickers.
“You’re fighting a losing—"
A piercing scream rings out from the streets below, and Lloyd and Jay jolt to their feet in well-experienced unison. Jay sweeps his eyes across the street below, his head whipping widely back and forth as he tries to spot—
“There!” Lloyd calls, already sliding down the fire escape. Jay follows his arm, and spots a disheveled man now crumpled in the street, other partygoers crowding around him. Lloyd’s hand is pointing just beyond, though, locked on the shadowed, dark figure fleeing into the alleyway.
Jay grins viciously at him. Lloyd grins back.
Normally, they’d have Zane at their backs, insisting on safety and such nonsense, but tonight it’s just Lloyd and Jay, who gold-medal at being an awful combination of adrenaline junkies. So by the time they’ve finished hurling themselves off the building and surfing down a couple of unfortunate clotheslines, they land in perfect synch just behind the fleeing figure. They immediately break into a sprint, following their quarry down the dark alleyways and gaining rapidly.
One of the few perks to being the smallest on the team — Jay and Lloyd are fast.
The figure jolts, finally realizing it’s being pursued, and suddenly takes a hard left. Jay yelps as he almost overbalances, his momentum nearly toppling him before Lloyd catches his arm, yanking him upright. They follow where the figure’s fled into an abandoned tunnel, one of the ones Jay recognizes leads to the sewer.
“Why in here?!” he gasps between breathes, as their feet splash through dirty rainwater the deeper they go. Ugh, he hates these tunnels — they’re too small and close and dark.
Lloyd doesn’t grace him with a reply, simply lifting his hand up in an eerie, makeshift green flashlight that lights up the tunnels around them.
“They went that way!” He hurls the bright globe of energy down the tunnel, throwing green shadows up all around, and illuminating their prey far ahead.
Darn it, Jay curses to himself. He forgot vampires are supposed to be fast, too. They need a way better plan then just running after it.
“Trap, we need a trap,” Jay pants. “What do they do in Scooby-Doo to catch the vampire?”
Lloyd glances at him incredulously as he runs beside him, his hair dyed a white-green in the eerie light where it bounces around his head. “Scooby-Doo?!” he exclaims. “There aren’t any vampires in Scooby-Doo!”
“Uh, yeah there are,” Jay argues, ducking under a rusted pipe. He almost has to pause to swipe his own hair out of the way before he gets blinded by falling curls. Mental note, book a haircut later. “Remember that movie with the bands and stuff?”
“Oh. Right,” Lloyd huffs, sliding through a puddle of water. “Forgot about that. Don’t they die or something?”
“I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you! Come up with a plan, you’re leader!”
“Not right now, I’m not!”
“You can’t do that — you’re our designated team captain, live up to your role!”
“Only in big crisis situations!”
“This is a crisis!”
“Fine! Here’s me leading — I order you to come up with a plan.”
“Oh for — what kind of Green Ninja even are you, huh?”
“Oh yeah, static for brai—agh!”
Their argument is cut short as the floor suddenly decides to take the day off, and drops neatly out from beneath their feet. Jay screams, Lloyd shrieking beside him as they both go tumbling down the sloping sewer tunnel, sliding through broken rock and upturned stone. The sharp slope finally evens out, leaving them to roll to a graceless stop in a heap of limbs and freezing rainwater.
“Ew,” Jay scowls, swiping at his hair as he kneels, supporting himself on one hand. “Sewers are the worst.”
“Ge’off me,” Lloyd wheezes, hitting his shoulder. Jay belatedly realizes that he’s got one elbow and a knee digging into Lloyd’s middle, and pulls back quickly.
“Whoops,” he says, cheerfully. “Hey, no broken bones, at least!”
Lloyd just makes a face, straightening his hoodie. He pushes himself to his feet, offering a hand to Jay and hauling him up. Jay brings a crackle of lightning up in his fingers, squinting around the tunnel they’ve fallen into. Lloyd finally remembers to pull out their actual flashlight, and shines it warily around the tunnel, lighting up the old, molding stone around them.
“D’you think they fell, too?” Lloyd questions, taking a hesitant step forward as he brandishes the flashlight like a weapon.
Jay shrugs. “Vampires aren’t normally clumsy,” he says, starting down the tunnel. “But who knows.”
Lloyd pauses for a moment, reluctant, then quickly hurries to catch up, falling into step beside him.
“Ninja aren’t normally clumsy either,” he huffs.
Jay snorts. “Have you seen us?”
Lloyd eyes him. “I control your training schedule, you know.”
“A heinous abuse of power which never should have been given to you,” Jay sniffs.
Lloyd’s eyes narrow. “I’ll stick you on stair sprints. Endless. Stair sprints.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Jay retorts. “You’re too chicken to do that. Too soft.”
“I am not!” Lloyd says, offended. “I’ll make you run a gazillion stair sprints, watch me.”
“Oh yeah? Whatcha gonna do when I start tearing up on you, Mr. Marshmallow Heart?”
“My heart is not a marshmallow,” Lloyd grinds out. “It’s—"
“More like cotton candy,” Jay nods. “‘Cause you hit it with one tear and it melts all over the place.”
“I will trip you face-first into sewer water,” Lloyd threatens. “And stop using candy metaphors. I’m starving, and you won’t let me eat the garlic bread.”
“That’s ‘cause we need it for the vampire!” Jay huffs.
“Werewolf.”
Jay throws his hands up.  “Do you need glasses or something? Because tell me, please, if that looked anything like a were—"
Jay cuts off abruptly as he and Lloyd freeze. Directly across from them, a mere ten feet away in the connecting tunnel, the hooded figure they’ve been chasing freezes as well. For a beat, the three stare at each other, the only sound the steady drip-drip of the sewer tunnels around them.
Then—
“It’s the vampire! Grab it!” Jay yells.
He and Lloyd dart forward just as the vampire makes to run, turning for the tunnel. Jay side-steps, using the wall to push himself up and flip neatly over the vampire’s head, landing in the tunnel before them and neatly cutting them off. “Gotcha,” he grins.
The vampire’s eyes widen from beneath their hood, and they backtrack, only to nearly run into Lloyd, who points the flashlight threateningly at them.
“Stand down,” he orders. Jay rolls his eyes. Oh, now he decides to sound like a leader.
The vampire makes a hissing noise of frustration, shaking their head. Lloyd goes to move forward, a familiar green glinting at the edges of his fingertips—
When the vampire suddenly snaps into action, rushing at Lloyd. Before Jay can blink, they snap a leg up to kick the flashlight from Lloyd’s grasp, snag him with their forearm, bare two glinting teeth, and—
Snap. Lloyd gasps sharply, his eyes going wide as the vampire bites right into the juncture of his neck and shoulder.
Jay shrieks. “Lloy—!”
His scream cuts off, trailing into a gaping wheeze.
Jay is not entirely sure what — no, he’s not sure why what happen next happens. Maybe Lloyd panics. Maybe he forgets he’s a god-powered elemental with the capability of blasting people to heck with his hands for a second. Maybe both his Oni and dragon instincts decide to suddenly kick in and overpower the human. Or maybe he’s just so ticked at getting bit in the neck that his childish side comes out with a vengeance.
Either way, not even half a second after the vampire bites him, Lloyd snaps out his own too-sharp teeth and bites right back, firmly chomping down on the forearm pinning him in place.
The vampire gives a muffled scream, releasing Lloyd as they stumble backward, frantically clutching their arm. Jay takes this chance to send a bright bolt of lightning after them, just barely missing as they turn and flee, skittering away down the tunnels. Any other time Jay would give chase, but he’s got a slightly more pressing concern right now, and by that he means a big fat bad concern, because his brother is currently sporting a bleeding neck and trying to hack his own lung up.
“Oh god, the vampire bit you, Lloyd, the vampire bit you,” Jay babbles frantically, dancing around Lloyd as he doubles over, coughing and spitting frantically.
“—freaking — gross—"
“But —but then you bit the vampire,” Jay pauses, eyebrows furrowing. “So does that like — negate it?”
“—need hand sanitizer in m’a mouth—"
“Or does the vampire turn into an Oni?” Jay rubs his head. “Wait, wait no — you both swap, because you bit each other, so—"
“—tastes like battery acid—"
“Either way your neck is bleeding and why didn’t you just use your powers!” Jay shrieks at him.
“I panicked, okay?!” Lloyd cries in defense, wiping his mouth as he sticks his tongue out, clearly trying to rid himself of the taste. “Ugh — gimme that garlic bread, this is awful—"
“No way,” Jay snatches his bag away. “We definitely need it now.” His eyes narrow down on the two sluggishly bleeding marks on Lloyd’s neck, that he should really be patching up, actually, but first—
“Besides, garlic could be toxic for you right now! Since you might be turning into a…a vampire.”
Lloyd turns two smoldering, angry red eyes on him, and Jay swallows. Oh FSM, he’s already turning into a vampire, his eyes are red—
Oh wait, right, Lloyd’s eyes are red anyways.
“I am not turning into a vampire!” Lloyd hisses. He winces, clapping a hand over his neck. “I probably have like, rabies or something though,” he says, half-panicked.
“I don’t think vampires have rabies,” Jay tries to assure him, finally shaking himself into action, pulling his jacket off and pressing one of the sleeves against Lloyd’s bleeding neck. Lloyd jerks away on instinct, before letting Jay examine it.
“I can’t turn into a vampire,” Lloyd says, an edge of fear in his voice. “Kai’ll kill me if I turn into a vampire.”
“That’s your main concern?” Jay exclaims, swiping blood away — the bite doesn’t look too deep, and it seems like it won’t need stitches, or anything. He suddenly pauses, considering Lloyd’s words. “Okay, I will admit you have a valid point there,” he concedes.
Lloyd nods tightly, then makes a face before spitting again.
“So gross.”
Jay watches him, then speaks up hesitantly. “I mean…you have to admit that it’s definitely a vampire now, right, haha? Like, not to say I told you so, but—”
Lloyd turns his head, ever so slowly, his eyes narrowing into slits as he does.
“I will kill you.”
“Duly noted.”
**************
In a noble sacrifice of true brotherly love, Jay lets Lloyd get his weird mutant blood all over his hoodie as he uses it as a makeshift bandage.
“Rude,” Lloyd mutters, sounding wounded.
“Weird mutant blood is cool,” Jay assures him. “You Oni-dragon-hybrid, you.”
“I don’t even get any of the cool stuff, like shapeshifting or wings.”
“Yeah, that is a pretty lame tradeoff,” Jay admits. He pats his hoodie where it’s wrapped around Lloyd’s neck once more, nodding. “There. We’ll just…dump an entire bottle of sanitizer on it when we get home.”
“Can’t wait,” Lloyd sighs. His eyebrows furrow into determination. “After we catch this thing, though. It’s personal now.”
“Agreed,” Jay says. “But we definitely need a plan this time, ‘cause like, the biting thing worked, but it worst-case-scenario worked, you know? We need something a little less primitive, like, say, um…”
“Like this?”
Jay turns to Lloyd where he’s bent over one of the canal drains. He lifts the object he’s fished out, revealing a soaked but intact fishing net, likely abandoned from one of the boats.
A grin spreads across Jay’s face. “I have a plan now,” he says.
“Good,” Lloyd breathes in relief.
“You’re bait.”
Relief successfully obliterated. “Wait—"
**************
Jay’s wristwatch glows a dim 3:30 in the morning by the time their vampire finally takes the bait.
Said bait is very put out at being bait, granted, and is doing a frankly awful job at it, if anyone asked him, but he supposes that’s the best he can ask out of Lloyd when he’s been denying him their garlic bread the whole night.
“Oh no,” Lloyd intones dully, kicking through the tunnel water half-heartedly. “I’ve lost my way, whatever am I going to do with all this money in my wallet.”
“Boo,” Jay hisses at him, where he’s perched atop of a broken sewer pipe. Lloyd pauses his melodramatics to glare at him.
“I’d like to see you do better.”
“Oh no, you’re a much better damsel in distress than I am,” Jay assures him.
Lloyd looks furious. “Listen—"
He might’ve finished, but then the vampire jumps him from the shadows, and they both go tumbling as Lloyd’s voice turns to a shriek.
“Don’t die!” Jay hollers as he jumps down onto the vampire, startling a shriek out of them as he desperately tries to yank them off of Lloyd. “Roll, roll, get out of teeth range!”
“I’m trying!” Lloyd yelps, twisting himself free from the vampire’s grasp. The vampire makes to grab him, but Jay is already pouncing, tossing the net out so they run smack into it and go flailing to the floor, twisting themselves further and further into the rope webbing.
“Oh, thank FSM,” Lloyd mutters into the ground, where he’s yet to move. Jay ignores him, giving a cheer of triumph as he finishes knotting off the net.
“We got it!” he gasps, stepping back and surveying their struggling captive. “We caught the vampire!” He turns to Lloyd, grinning brightly in victory.
“Everyone else is gonna eat their words.” Lloyd nods, and Jay holds his hand out, slapping it against Lloyd’s before knocking their fists together.
Who’s stupid now, Kai? he thinks triumphantly.
Striding forward, he places his hands on his hips, smirking down at the vampire where it writhes against the net they’ve caught it in. He bends over, yanking their hood down.
“No use struggling. We got you now, you malevolent creature of the ni — ight, wait.” Jay blinks rapidly, staring at their quarry. “You’re….not a vampire?”
“No, you ssstupid human.”
Oh. Oh. Jay is incredibly, massively, thoroughly disappointed to realize that the figure on the ground glaring daggers at him, is not, in fact, a vampire. Not unless vampires come in Serpentine flavors.
“A Serpentine?” Lloyd blinks rapidly, looking as colossally disappointed as Jay is. “Aw man, we both lose, then.”
“A weird Serpentine,” Jay frowns, leaning closer. “This one’s got hair. Why do you have hair?”
The Serpentine — who is a she, from the looks of it — rolls her eyes. “I’m part human,” she hisses. “Ssso I do not look like other Ssserpentine. You humansss are just ssstupid enough to think I am a vampire.”
Jay opens his mouth, then shuts it. “Ah,” he says. He then brightens, glancing at Lloyd.  “Oh hey, you have that in common, then! Lloyd’s a freaky mutant anomaly of nature, just like you.”
“Hey!” Lloyd exclaims, looking offended. “A freaky mutant anomaly?”
“I mean it in love, Lloyd.”
“Would you let me out of thissss infuriating net.”
“Uh, yeah, no can do, pal,” Jay replies to the furious Serpentine. “We aren’t letting you off the hook just ‘cause you told us what you were. You’ve been running around and biting people in the neck and stealing their wallets.”
“You bit me,” Lloyd accuses, glaring hotly at her.
“You bit me back,” the Serpentine snarls at him.
“You bit me first!”
“Guys, guys, it’s not a contest,” Jay laughs, a little nervously. “Please. Calm your mutant anomaly selves.”
Lloyd looks as if he’s going to smack him — which he probably should, all honesty, Jay’s been pushing him — but the Serpentine just frowns.
“How issss he one?” she scoffs at Lloyd. “He looksss like a normal human. Maybe with rabiesss.”
Lloyd looks incredibly offended. “Like you can talk.” He shakes his head, sighing. “I’m…part Oni. And dragon. A bit.”
The Serpentine's mouth drops open, and the color leeches from her face. “O-Oni?” She stammers. She looks at the hastily bandaged wound on her arm in alarm. “Did you poissson me?”
“Wha—no!” Lloyd exclaims. “Oni aren’t poisonous!”
He pauses. So do Jay and the Serpentine, leaving the tunnel in silence for a beat.
“I don’t….think?” He turns to Jay, eyebrows furrowed in question.
Jay shrugs. He’s not the one with a bunch of inhuman relatives. “I mean, she hasn’t gone all, y’know — grey-skinned, purple-eyed, turned-to-stone, so?”
This does nothing whatsoever to quell the look of fear on the face of— Jay frowns. “Hey, what’s your name, by the way?”
“What, ssso you can tell the copsss?” their Serpentine hisses dully.
“Well, you’re a criminal, so,” Jay shrugs. “But look at it this way — I won’t call you Elvira Vampira, Terror of the Night, the whole way back instead.”
The Serpentine rolls her eyes, but she does look mildly threatened at being called Vampira for the rest of the evening.
“My name is Sssiri,” she finally admits, looking put out.
“Siri?” Lloyd blinks. “Like the phone voice?”
The Serpentine makes a face as if he’s called her the scum of the earth instead. “I hate that ssstupid company,” she hisses. “And their ssstupid phone voicesss. I hate them.”
“That’s nice,” Jay tells her. He exhales, placing his hands on his hips. He glances at Lloyd, who looks every bit as tired.
“Time to drag her to the police?”
“Time to drag her to the police,” Lloyd sighs, sounding disappointed, if not a bit vindictive.
**************
The cops are nice, at least, and the guy whose wallet got snatched thanks them profusely, so the night doesn’t end up being a total bust. Everyone looks pretty relieved that there isn’t an actual vampire running around, though, which Jay feels a little resentful at, because he’s losing a bet here.
“Hey, cheer up,” Lloyd tells him, elbowing him lightly. “At least no one ever has to know about it.”
“True,” Jay admits. He gives a sigh of melancholy, watching as the cops lead a put-out Siri into the car. He glances at Lloyd, then grins wickedly.
“Hey!” he calls quickly, waving at Siri. He slaps a hand on Lloyd’s shoulder, shaking him. “You don’t have a boyfriend, do you? Because this guy here is a hundred percent single and looking to ack—"
Jay’s idea is immediately torpedoed by Lloyd viciously throttling him in front of the entire crime unit.
“Jay what the heck!” he whisper-shrieks, sounding on the verge of an aneurism.
“I’m trying — to get you — back in the game—" Jay croaks out.
“With a neck-biting criminal?!”
“I wouldn’t be oppossssed,” Siri remarks, cocking her head as she studies Lloyd.
Lloyd goes an odd purple-scarlet color, then immediately turns on heel, marching away and looking not a little bit like his father storming off to destroy a village.
“He’ll call you!” Jay mouths at Siri, before hurrying after Lloyd. “Well, I’d call that a mild success, at least.”
“I am not calling her,” Lloyd grinds out, as he stomps down the street.
“Oh, obviously,” Jay says. He snickers. “Can you imagine Kai’s reaction, though? He’d blow five blood vessels at once.”
Lloyd remains stubbornly stoic, glaring forward. Jay winces. Oops, crossed a line. Still too sensitive. Maybe he can try again in like…a year.
“Hey, on the bright side,” Jay tries. “We can eat the rest of the garlic bread now?”
Lloyd’s pace slows. Jay holds out half of the buttery loaf they have left. Lloyd eyes him for a second, but Jay can see his resolve quickly dying. Lloyd finally snatches it, sighing.
“Tha’ is a bright side,” he says, through a mouthful.
“Garlic bread solves half y’er problems,” Jay nods through his own bite, pleased to find that it’s still good, even if cold.
They walk in silence for a minute, quietly chewing at the rest of the bread. Then Lloyd speaks up.
“Like….can you imagine being a real vampire though? And you couldn’t eat garlic bread?”
“Oh yeah, that would suck.”
“Seriously. I wonder if it’s maybe like, a lactose intolerance thing, where they can have a little bit before breaking into vampire hives or something?”
“Or maybe it’s like a peanut allergy thing, where their throats swell up and they have to use like, vampire Epipens.”
“If I was a vampire, I’d risk it either way.”
“Oh yeah, same. Totally worth it.”
“Totally.”
**************
The thing people tend to overlook about Jay is that, despite how loud he can be — and yeah, he’s admitting it, he can be a big enough person to recognize that he can get a bit worked-up sometimes — anyways, despite how everyone seems to think Jay has one default mode, he is, in fact, one of the best people on the team at sneaking. It’s one of the perks of being small — he’s learned to be light enough on his feet that even Zane can’t pick him up. And everyone expects him to come in all excited and loud anyways, so Jay’s got that advantage. No one expects him to be quiet.
And it is, of course, a trait he’s dutifully passed on to his little brother, who already has experience from sneaking around Darkley’s and lurking in Serpentine tombs, so by the time the alarm is an hour away from going off, Lloyd and Jay are safely back in bed, snoring quietly with the others, who are none the wiser.
Granted, Jay’s got the worst eye-bags ever in the morning, and Lloyd’s running a record for how long he can get around without actually opening his eyes — but Cole doesn’t say anything, and Zane isn’t looking at them suspiciously, so voila! They are off the hook.
Jay supposes he has the usual array of night terrors to thank for that. Always a good cover for sleeplessness, those.
He does have to drag Lloyd to the bathroom first so they can fix his gi collar high enough to hide the rather incriminating bite marks. Jay doesn’t even want to think about explaining those, because any plausible excuses he can come up with for them are just more likely to make Kai barbecue Jay on the spot.
“Good to see you this morning,” Cole tells him pointedly, as he joins the team around the breakfast table. Jay resists the urge to shoot him a gesture, and grabs for the coffee pot instead.
“Did you sleep alright?” Kai is asking Lloyd from across him, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. Jay can’t really blame him, seeing as Lloyd keeps falling asleep in his cereal, dark circles vivid beneath his eyes.
“Jus’ tired,” Lloyd yawns. “Didn’t sleep that well."
Kai pats him lightly on the shoulder, looking sympathetic. “Take a nap or something later,” he tells him. “For my sake.”
Lloyd nods, and Jay leans back in his seat, sipping contentedly at his coffee. As he said, no one suspects a thing. All’s well that ends well.
And then Zane turns the radio on.
“—the neck-biting thief was caught early this morning by the Ninjago City Police, with the aid of two accomplices—”
Jay goes pale.
“Huh, isn’t that what you guys were talking about last night?” Nya remarks.
Jay and Lloyd look at each other, their eyes wide. In a desperate grab for survival, Jay dives for the radio, fully prepared to hit it with a lightning bolt if it means turning it off before—
“—special thanks, of course, to the green and blue ninja, looking out for us as always.”
Jay finally smacks the radio off, plunging the kitchen into silence. There is a long, ominous pause of utter dread. Kai slowly turns to look at Lloyd.
“You went after them—"
“We didn’t!” Lloyd says quickly. “That’s not what we were doing!”
“Oh yeah?” Kai says, and uh oh, that’s a scary look. “You’d better have a heck of an excuse, then.”
“We do, we have a really good excuse,” Jay defends quickly. “We were out there for something way more important.”
“Oh?” Cole says, looking close to blowing a gasket. “And what was that, exactly?”
“Well,” Jay says, looking Kai dead in the eye. “We were trying to get Lloyd a hot date.”
Then, before anyone can react, Jay grabs a sputtering Lloyd by the hand and runs.

whoa I love that werewolf Luke hcs! Imagine if MC accidentally finds Luke on full moon though 👀
irt luke is a werewolf au
hello, anon!!! and oHOHOHOOOO I LOVE THIS VERY VERY MUCH!!!!
i will tweak ur request a little bit from "accidentally finds luke" to "very deliberately finds luke" because in the og au post i mention that luke is locking himself in a bunker kind of room and rooms like that are hard to break into HAHA.
once luke is back in stellis, the room he locks himself in for full moons is located in a secret basement underneath his antique shop. the room is kind of small, the door and the walls are completely made of reinforced steel, and the lock is just so heavy and ridiculous that the first time mc sees it shes like "luke....are you sure this isnt overkill?"
and yes, mc sees the door! because after luke tells the team about how hes a werewolf, mc naturally becomes curious as to where luke disappears to every full moon. luke shows her where he locks himself and mc is kinda horrified??? not because luke is a monster, but because luke is treating himself like hes a monster.
"i dont think it's overkill. on a full moon, i cant control myself at all." luke says as he opens the bunker door, revealing the inside of the room. it's gloomy and depressing, the interior, and luke traces his fingers against the deep claw marks in the wall. his voice is quiet. scared. "if i can do this to reinforced steel, i could do so much worse to a person."
mc understands his fear and, for a while, she lets luke handle his full moons like he always has (alone and locked away and frightened). but then that bit in the original au plot happens where luke starts mentioning that ever since joining the team, he feels a lot more balanced and in control during his full moons. he tells mc about how he remembers that he shifts into a full wolf on full moons, and how he remembers...wanting something, howling his want into the empty room.
and mc has a theory as to what exactly luke wants. luke had said recently that he feels like he has a pack now, that pack is very very important to him. and luke, at his most vulnerable moments, is making himself be alone and separated from that pack.
so one full moon, mc goes down into the basement.
when she stands in front of the heavy locked door, she does not hear a feral animal within it clawing at the walls, violent and mindless.
she hears a wolf, howling softly his call of loneliness.
she hears her best friend asking for company.
and so she opens the door.
she's seen luke as a full wolf before already. he's shifted to this form a few times in the past to protect her and the team, but theres something different about how he looks like right now. the wolf in front of her isnt the protective and intimidating wolf from all those dangerous moments. the wolf in front of her has his ears pressed flat against his head, his tail curled against his body, his glowing red eyes looking up at mc as if he thinks he doesnt deserve to be given company right now.
mc doesnt approach luke. she sits at the other end of the room and she talks to him softly. she tells luke about how she thinks hes being really silly about this whole thing, tells luke about how yes, she'll take whatever angry worried rant he's definitely going to give her tomorrow morning about how what she did was ohhhh sooo dangerous. but mostly she tells luke that she wishes luke would trust her more, would trust the team more.
"we want to be here for you," she says, looking at luke who is still curled up at the other end of the room, but his eyes look at her. "...i want to be here for you. i always have."
luke blinks and, slowly, he gets up.
he walks over to her carefully, giving her all the time in the world to run away from him.
but she doesnt.
all she does is hold her hand out towards him, a gorgeous, open smile on her face.
when luke nudges his face into her palm, he feels a peace wash over his heart and
for a second
he might just believe he isnt a monster after all.
(mc and luke end up cuddling for the rest of the night and falling asleep together. full wolf!luke is a VERY NICE PILLOW, very warm and fluffy and also Huge. but when the sun comes up, luke shifts back to human in his sleep and
mc, waking up: yaaaawn, gmorning lu---OH UH //looks AWAY, BLUSHING SO MUCH
luke, waking up: wh, hhh, gmorni---AAAAHH OH MY GOD SORRY SORRY SORRY
luke is completely naked. shifting from wolf back to human does not automatically give you clothes. rip these two pining idiots HAHA)

I'm out of My Head, of My Heart and My Mind
Pairing: Geralt of Rivia x Jaskier x Reader
Plot: Late one night, Geralt comes back to you and Jaskier after a hunt with a wound on his shoulder and a heated, feral look in his eyes. He tells you and Jaskier to head for the hills, but of course, neither of you listen.
And for once, Geralt's glad that you two ignored his instructions.
Warnings: Mildly Dubious Consent, Aphrodisiacs, Fuck-or-Die, Threesome (F/M/M), Rough Sex, Biting, Scenting, Scent Kink, Size Kink, Size Difference, Vaginal Sex, Anal Sex, Dirty Talk, Praise Kink, Voyeurism, Breeding (discussed, not actually happening), Blow Jobs
Notes: Hey look, I've found another Fandom to rub my grubby little hands on! Anyways I fell in love with these idiots as soon as I saw them and I've been binge reading almost every Witcher fic I can find. During my reading I realized there's a lack of reader insert fics and Jaskier/Reader fics so I decided to remedy that!
Also I know everyone and their sister has written a fuck-or-die fic already but... I'm a slut for that trope so I decided to add my own to the pile.
Title is taken from The Wolf by SIAMÉS!
Taglist: Not gonna put my taglist since this isn’t an AHS fanfic and I dunno if anyone wants to see this lmaooooo
You had to admit, when you had first started traveling with Geralt and Jaskier, you couldn’t understand the Witcher’s frustration with the bard. He seemed kind and full of life, and was always eager to lend a hand and would comfort both you and Geralt with equal enthusiasm.
But now, sitting around the dwindling campfire, the sun having long since vanished behind the hills, you really wished Jaskier would give it a rest.
“Do you think he’ll come back soon?” His lilting voice snapped you out of your thoughts and you let out a long, drawn out sigh, sliding down the log you were sitting on and draping yourself over it, hanging limply.
“I didn’t know ten minutes ago, I didn’t know five minutes ago, and I still don’t know now,” you grumbled, staring up at the clear night sky, watching the stars twinkle and shine above you, the moon illuminating the surrounding landscape with a soft, otherworldly glow. You heard Jaskier let out a huff, shifting around on the other side of the campfire.
“Which way did you say he went again?” Jaskier asked, peering over at you. You sighed, sitting up and staring over at him with narrow eyes, knowing exactly what he was up to.
“He told us to stay here for a reason, Jaskier. He left a while ago and if you try to follow him now you’re just going to get lost, and when he comes back I’m going to have to send him right back out into the woods to come rescue you,” you said, Jaskier gasping dramatically and grasping his chest in mock-hurt.
“Y/N, I can’t believe you would say such a thing about your dear friend Jaskier,” he began dramatically, making you smile slightly and roll your eyes. Jaskier was obnoxious, yes, but he was still your friend and you just couldn’t stay mad at him for long.
“In fact, I think that— hm?” He suddenly stopped, leaning to look past you and squint into the darkness. You cocked your head at him, raising a brow. You were about to ask what was wrong when you say his eyes widen, his face growing pale as he began scrambling to stand up, causing you to turn and look behind you, wondering what had startled the bard.
Geralt.
You could hardly see him in the darkness but you spotted the white of his hair moving through the shadows, his pace slow and lethargic. You immediately got up, running after Jaskier.
“Geralt!” The bard cried in alarm, the two of you finally noticing the bleeding wound on the Witcher’s shoulder. It looked like a bite mark. Geralt let out a deep, rumbling growl as the two of you approached before slumping down onto the ground, now on his knees.
“Don’t,” he barked, you and Jaskier immediately freezing, exchanging a concerned glance before looking back to Geralt.
“Geralt, what—“ you tried to speak but he cut you off, grunting. You looked over to Jaskier who was nearly vibrating with energy, his instincts telling him to go to Geralt, to help him and comfort him, but he stayed put, not wanting to upset the Witcher further.
“You two, get Roach and go back to the town, now,” he snapped, looking between you and Jaskier with a strange expression on his face that you had never seen before. It almost looked like fear.
“But Geralt, the monster—“
“It’s dead,” Geralt said, cutting Jaskier off before the bard could finish. Jaskier looked confused, his browns furrowed as he shifted from one foot to another, staring at Geralt.
“Wait, what? If it’s dead why do we need to run? Geralt, you look like you got bitten, is that a bite mark? Was it a werewolf? Are you going to turn into a werewolf now?” Jaskier immediately began rambling, Geralt staring at him in frustration.
“Fucks sake bard, can you not listen? I said take Y/N and Roach and go,” he snarled, both you and Jaskier jumping at his desperate tone.
“Geralt, what bit you? What can we do? You must have something in your bag that can help, some kind of potion,” you began desperately, reaching out slowly towards Geralt, who only growled at your hands and leaned away, like a wild animal that had never seen a human before. He was still for a moment, taking long, deep breaths and trying to steady himself, his eyes starting to look glassy and out of focus.
“There’s nothing you can do. You need to get as far away from me as possible, you two need to get somewhere safe,” he said, the shakiness in his voice making your blood run cold. You had never heard Geralt sound so desperate and unsteady before, and you didn’t understand why he wanted you two to leave him here while he was injured.
“Gods, Geralt, what bit you? Tell us— tell us so we can help,” Jaskier pleaded, taking a few steps closer to the white-haired man. Geralt growled deep in his throat, closing his eyes tightly and groaning.
“A fucking succubus bit me, bard. So unless you want me to fuck you to death you need to leave,” Geralt bit out, his voice deep and rumbling.
Oh.
You looked over at Jaskier, who now stared at Geralt with wide eyes, his cheeks flushing pink and for once, he was at a loss for words.
You looked back to Geralt who was now sweating profusely, pale skin flushed and eyes unfocused, trying to keep his gaze off of you and Jaskier and on the ground. You sighed, running your hands through your hair, looking over to Jaskier once more before slowly approaching Geralt, a concerned look on your face.
“Geralt,” you spoke softly as to not alarm him, the man grunting in response. “What happens if we leave you here? Will you be okay?” you asked softly, Geralt sighing and squeezing his eyes shut, his fists clenching in the dirt below him.
“No.”
“Geralt,” Jaskier said, completely dumbfounded. “We’re not going to leave you here to die in the woods. We’re not leaving you here alone,” he said, Geralt letting out a loud groan of annoyance, very close to losing his patience.
“Dammit Jaskier, listen to me for once in your life. I’ve been poisoned, the only way to get it out is for me to fuck it out of my system, and I’m not doing that to you. I’m not hurting you,” Geralt said, now panting slightly. Jaskier turned to look at you, a terrified expression on his face, terrified at the prospect of losing Geralt. You pressed your lips together in a firm line, grunting as you fell down to your knees in front of Geralt, staring at him.
“Geralt, you’re our friend— you’re our friend and we’re not leaving you out here to die alone. Just… Let me help you, Jaskier can go back to the village and I’ll stay here,” you said firmly, Geralt’s eyes snapping open, and although he was still staring at the ground you could see that his eyes were nearly black, his pupils completely dilated.
“You’re a fucking idiot, Y/N,” Geralt said, letting out a soft, delirious laugh. You seldom heard Geralt laugh, or really make any noise besides hmm or ugh or fuck. This was probably the most you had heard him say in weeks, which would have been amazing if the conversation didn’t revolve around his fear of fucking you or Jaskier to death.
“Oh, now you’re telling me to go run back to the village? Y/N, I barely listen to Geralt and he’s large enough to pick me up and snap me like a branch, and you think I’ll listen to you?” Jaskier said, trying to lighten the mood, but the high-pitched and scared tone of his voice wasn’t very convincing.
“Y/N, Jaskier, if you stay I’m just going to hurt you, you need to go. Please,” Geralt croaked out the last word, still staring down at the ground, his brows furrowed. You nearly fell over, blinking in surprise at the Witcher’s words.
That was the first time you had ever heard him say please.
You looked up at Jaskier, staring at him for a moment before you looked back to Geralt, taking a deep breath.
“And what if I want you to hurt me, Geralt?” You asked and before you even knew what was happening Jaskier was diving out of the way with a yelp as Geralt launched himself towards you, pinning you to the ground and pressing his lips against yours in a rough kiss.
You let out a squeak at the sudden pressure and warmth against you, the feel and sound and scent of Geralt borderline intoxicating as his hands squeezed your shoulders, his tongue quickly pressing into your mouth and eliciting a soft, surprised whine from your throat.
“Oh, well, right then, I suppose we’re starting already,” Jaskier warbled from a few feet away, his voice strained. You gasped for air as Geralt broke away from the kiss, immediately moving down to nip and lick at your neck, inhaling your scent and letting out a rumbling growl against your throat. You gasped, gripping his shoulders tightly, careful to avoid touching his wound as you felt him biting you before soothing over the mark with his tongue.
Jaskier watched on in awe, his face flushed red as he watched Geralt biting your throat and rutting against you, his golden eyes glassy and clouded with lust.
“Smells so fucking good,” Geralt growled down at you, nuzzling under your neck and licking a stripe up your jaw. You whimpered, gasping softly as you felt the outline of his heavy cock through his trousers, already hard and thick. You saw movement out of the corner of your eye and looked up to see Jaskier stepping closer, pupils blown wide as he watched the two of you.
“So, uh, you want me to stay and help?” He asked, unable to take his eyes off of you. Geralt was completely ignoring him, alternating between stripping off his layers of armor and marking your neck. You nodded at Jaskier, gasping as Geralt once again bit you. He didn’t break the skin, to your surprise, but you knew that there would be a bruise there come morning.
“Yeah, uh, I figure it’ll be easier this way— he can have me first and when I’m tired he can, fuck— he can have you,” you spoke, trying to ignore the older mans mouth on your flushed skin, his teeth and tongue already driving you mad. Jaskier nodded, wringing his hands together awkwardly before glancing to Geralt who now had his armor and shirt removed, allowing Jaskier’s eyes to rake over his pale skin, marred with scars both new and old, telling the story of his exploits and battles.
You let out a startled yelp when you were suddenly flipped over onto your stomach, Geralt’s hands moving to your hips to yank your ass up, growling as he began tugging down your pants and smallclothes. You quickly shrugged off your shirt, laying it down on the ground under you so that you at least had something soft to rest on. Jaskier watched, hypnotized as you were undressed, Geralt grasping your hips with a bruising grip as he leaned over you, his muscles rippling and flexing under his skin.
Jaskier had seen Geralt naked more times than he could count, familiar with the other mans body after years of traveling with him, bathing with him and cleaning his wounds after his hunts, but he had to admit, he had never seen Geralt… Like this. Feral, eager, his heavy cock hanging between his legs, precum already spilling from the flushed tip. It had Jaskier swallowing hard and shifting around awkwardly, trying to ignore the sudden tightness in his own trousers.
You let out a high-pitched moan when Geralt finally yanked your pants off, baring your wet cunt to him. You heard him growl behind you, one hand gripping your hip and one hand moving to splay over your back between your shoulders, pushing you down onto the ground roughly. You grunted, spreading your legs and allowing Geralt better access to your entrance.
“Okay— okay, Geralt, let’s just start out slow at first and then— FUCK!” you keened as you suddenly felt the head of his cock pressing into you, the thick shaft following soon after, splitting you open and driving deep inside you. Jaskier yelped in alarm, quickly moving down to kneel in front of you, hands on the ground to steady himself. You cried out as Geralt continued thrusting against you, letting out grunts and growls as he fucked himself deeper inside of your tight, wet heat, his entire body feeling like it was on fire.
“Shit, Y/N— are you okay?” Jaskier asked and you shakily lifted yourself up on your elbows, whimpering at the burn and stretch of Geralt’s heavy cock, pressing further inside you than you thought was possible. You bit your lip, nodding your head quickly as your eyes fluttered shut, trying to adjust to the feeling of being split open and spread so thoroughly and roughly. Geralt, at least, seemed to still be mildly aware of what was going on and was trying to hold himself back, stilling momentarily to let you get used to the feeling.
“Yeah,” you squeaked out at Jaskier, shuddering as you felt Geralt twitch inside of you. “He’s just, fuck— he’s big, I feel like he’s gonna tear me in half,” you whined, panting. Jaskier was now breathing heavily, staring at you, at your eyes and your lips and the beads of sweat glistening on your skin. Suddenly one of Geralt’s large hands was back on your shoulder, shoving you back down to the ground and you groaned as his cock shifted around inside of you, sliding deeper.
He leaned over you, panting and shuddering as you clenched and contracted around him. His eyes were closed in concentration, one hand gripping your hip tight enough to bruise and the other against your shoulder, pressing you down and making sure you stayed put. His weight on top of you effectively prevented you from squirming away, making sure you took every last inch of his thick length.
Jaskier was breathless, his cock now painfully hard as he watched Geralt take you, rutting you into the ground like a feral animal. He swallowed thickly, shakily reaching forward to touch the side of your face in a comforting gesture. As soon as he touched your fevered skin he heard Geralt let out a deep growl, the bard looking up to see a pair of glowing, cat-like eyes glaring at him.
“Mine,” the Witcher grunted, snapping his hips forward and finally burying the rest of his sizable cock inside of your cunt, his eyes rolling back in his head. You were panting now, wheezing and trying to catch your breath as you felt his heavy sac pressing against your entrance. You shuddered under him, sighing in relief as you knew he had no more for you, no more to press and fuck and grind into you.
“Fuck, Geralt, learn to share,” you grit out, finally beginning to relax and adjust to the feeling of the witcher’s cock inside of you. Jaskier looked up at Geralt again who was once again staring at him, his heated gaze sending shivers down the bard’s spine. Jaskier hesitantly pulled his eyes away from Geralt and back down to you, scooting closer.
“Is this okay? Are you okay? I can— I can take over whenever you want,” he said, licking his lips. You let out a breathy laugh, shaking your head and shifting around, spreading your legs wider to allow Geralt more room.
“No, it’s okay, I’m fine, really,” you mumbled, furrowing your eyebrows together as you felt Geralt slowly pulling out, before slamming back inside you with a grunt. Your entire body lurched forward from the force of his thrust, nearly landing on Jaskier’s lap as Geralt immediately began fucking you with force, gasping as you tightened around him.
“Fuck, that’s it, that’s a good girl,” Geralt growled, his eyes fluttering closed and lead lolling back as he continued pounding you, completely unfazed by the fact that Jaskier was staring. You moaned desperately with every forceful thrust, the once silent forest now overwhelmed with the cacophony of pleasured moans and skin against skin. The only intimacy you’d ever had before Geralt had been fumbling, awkward and disorganized, a stark contrast to the rough, thorough fuck Geralt was giving you now.
You had also never had someone watch before.
You glanced up at Jaskier, feeling a fresh wave of wetness hit your cunt as you noticed the obvious tent in his trousers, the bard still watching you and Geralt, his usually pale cheeks flushed pink.
“Are you enjoying the show?” you moaned out, Jaskier jolting slightly in surprise as he looked down at you, blinking. His lips parted slightly, tongue darting out to wet his dry lips before he nodded.
“Yes— yes, very much so,” he said, his voice uncharacteristically low and rumbling, making you shiver. Geralt, displeased with the sudden conversation between you and the bard immediately worked to bring your attention back to himself, reaching down to lift one of your legs, turning your body slightly in order to fuck you from a different angle. You immediately cried out, your eyes fluttering shut as you felt him roll his hips against yours, his body quivering.
“Gonna cum soon, my little whore. Will that satisfy you, then? Being fucked full, being bred?” Geralt rumbled, snapping his hips against yours. Even Jaskier let out a moan as the filth spilled from Geralt’s flushed lips, not sure whether to be glad he was able to watch Geralt have his way with you, or jealous that it wasn’t him, pressed beneath the Witcher, being split open on his heavy cock.
“Yes, fuck— yes, please, please,” you moaned loudly, pressing your hips back against Geralt’s as you felt your own orgasm drawing closer, nearly screaming when you felt Geralt reach down to cup your cunt, the heel of his palm pressing against your clit, the sudden friction sending you over the edge, your entire body tensing.
Jaskier watched in awe as your mouth fell open, your eyes squeezing shut as Geralt gave one, two, three more thrusts and then he was stilling against you, balls deep inside your cunt as he let out a deep, feral growl that sounded more animal than man.
You whimpered loudly as you felt Geralt fill you, your body unable to contain the (frankly ridiculous) amount of cum as it began leaking out around his cock, coating your thighs and ass and he didn’t seem to stop, continuing to gasp and twitch against you, rutting his hips against yours in an effort to fill you as deeply as possible, the Succubus’ poison and his own feral instincts telling him to fuck you, fill you, breed you, use his fangs and scent and cum to mark you as his territory.
Jaskier, despite being untouched, couldn’t help but moan weakly as he watched his friend fill you, eyes raking over Geralt’s sweat-slicked body, muscles rippling and straining, the light of the moon almost giving Geralt’s pale hair and skin a ghostly glow. His eyes then moved down to you, watching the way your chest rose and fell, your breasts heaving, cunt flushed and well-fucked, dripping with cum.
Geralt seemed to momentarily withdraw from the lust-induced haze of the Succubus’ poison, gritting his teeth as he felt your slick walls contract around his oversensitive cock. He panted, taking a moment to gather himself before he loosened his grip on you, trying not to think about how hard his fingers were digging into your skin and how, come morning, you’ll be covered in bruises.
“Are you okay?” he rumbled, your eyes flicking up to his. You gave him a weak smile, biting your lower lip and nodding your head, trying to ignore that his cock was still hard and pulsing inside of you despite the fact he had just cum.
“Yeah,” you breathed, your throat raw from constant moaning. Geralt’s lips pressed together in a firm line, observing you and Jaskier and trying to ignore the scent of sex and lust in the air, his senses being overwhelmed with the combined smell of you and the bard. To his relief he smelled no fear, only want, need, pleasure, the scents swirling around him like an aromatic perfume, his cock hardening even further.
“Are you sure? I didn’t even prepare you properly, I could have…” Geralt trailed off, averting his gaze from you and trying to ignore the guilt welling up inside his chest. You sighed softly, shifting towards him and causing him to grunt as his oversensitive cock shifted inside of you.
“Geralt, I said I’m okay. Yeah, you didn’t prepare me or anything and it stung a bit but… I liked it. Everyone else has always been so gentle with me that it barely even felt like anything, treating me like I was some fragile thing that was going to break,” you murmured, looking up at Geralt who hummed softly, seeming to consider your words as he began rubbing small circles against your hips.
“It’s still not too late to leave and go back to the village,” Geralt said softly, trying to push down the feeling of nervousness that was welling up inside him, the fear that you and Jaskier would be frightened, disgusted, horrified with his actions. To his surprise you only laughed, shifting your hips towards him again and causing him to groan.
“Geralt, sometimes you listen about as well as Jaskier does. I told you, we’re not leaving you here,” you said, the Witcher giving you a soft smile. Jaskier let out a huff of indignation, crossing his arms over his chest in an effort to look more serious, although it only caused him to look more ridiculous thanks to his flushed cheeks and the very obvious bulge in his trousers.
“I’ll have you know I listen perfectly well,” he said, Geralt rolling his eyes.
“Fine. If you can listen so well, go get the oil from your pack and get yourself ready for me,” Geralt said, giving Jaskier a smirk. The bard immediately scrambled up, quickly moving back over to the campfire to rifle through his belongings. Geralt huffed softly in amusement at the bards eagerness, before bringing his attention back down to you. You swallowed thickly, feeling the heat return to your cheeks as his golden eyes stared down at you.
“So, shall I spend myself in this tight little cunt once more or do you want me to move to Jaskier?” He rumbled, slowly rocking his hips against you and drawing a gasp from your throat. You laid back down on the ground, spreading your legs and baring your throat to him in submission. Geralt let out a deep growl from with in his chest, eyes darkening as he felt lust clouding his mind once again.
“Such a sweet little thing for me, so obedient,” he praised you, eyes half lidded as he slowly worked his hips against yours, his cock easily sliding in and out thanks to your wetness combined with his seed from your previous coupling. You whimpered softly as he leaned down, pressing his nose under your jaw and inhaling deeply, scenting you. You were broken out of your thoughts as a blanket was spread out next to you, Jaskier plopping down on it with a huff.
“I swear, like horny teenagers you two are, I leave for only a moment and when I return you’re already rutting her again like a beast,” Jaskier scolded, although you could tell he didn’t really mean it. Your gaze flickered up to the brunette as he began tugging his clothes off, shivering as the cool night air hit his skin. Geralt smirked at Jaskier, looking the bard right in the eye as he continued working his cock inside of you.
“I don’t think you mind,” Geralt drawled, Jaskier swallowing thickly at the other mans heated gaze. “In fact, I think you quite like it, watching me fuck her and rut her,” Geralt said, noticing how Jaskier’s eyes widened and his Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat.
“Maybe I do,” Jaskier said brusquely, his voice strained as he continued pulling off his clothes, his chest now completely bare. He was pale and smooth, save for a few scars dotted sparsely across his body, gained during his travels with Geralt. You continued writhing under the Witcher, your cunt sore and oversensitive from the rough fucking he gave you only moments ago.
“Oh, I know you do. I can smell it on you, smell the desire and lust rolling off your skin. Tell me, Jaskier, when I finally pull you down onto my cock and split you open, will you sing for me, my little lark? Or will you moan and cry out like a whore?” Geralt growled the last word, knowing it would get a reaction out of Jaskier and that it did, the bard immediately sputtering and opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water, trying to ignore the way his cock twitched at the Witcher’s vulgar and degrading words.
Jaskier let out a whine of relief as he finally removed the rest of his clothes, now able to palm his flushed and heavy cock. You moaned at the sight, at the knowledge that he was so hard and eager just from watching Geralt take you. Jaskier shakily uncorked the bottle of oil, pouring a generous amount onto his fingers before reaching around to begin preparing himself. Geralt watched in rapt fascination at the bard’s subtle reactions, the way his plush lips parted in a soft gasp, the way his hips twitched forward before grinding back against his slick fingers, the way his eyelids would flutter every time he pressed his fingers deeper inside of himself.
You whimpered as you felt heat building inside you once again, your entire body feeling like it was melting as Geralt continued fucking you, his hips snapping against yours, not as frantic as before but still rough, his calloused hands pressing you to the ground to ensure you couldn’t move away from his powerful thrusts. Jaskier in the meantime was conflicted, trying to figure out whether or not to watch you or Geralt, still fucking himself open with his fingers, his fat cock bobbing at the motion of his hips.
“Are you enjoying this, Jaskier, watching me fuck her open in front of you? Or are you jealous? Would you rather be in her place?” Geralt said, giving a particularly hard thrust that drew out a sharp whine from your throat. The bard’s eyes flickered down to look at you, watching the way your hands flexed as you fisted your hands into your shirt, your eyebrows knitted together and mouth hanging open, your body shuddering and twitching as your orgasm fast-approached.
“Gods, Geralt— the fucking mouth on you. If I knew you’d— shit, be this talkative I’d have found a succubus to bite you months ago,” Jaskier growled out, keening as he pressed a third finger into himself, the stretch dancing the line between pain and pleasure as he opened himself up. Geralt only let out a soft huff of laughter, before turning his attention back to you, his nostrils flaring at the delicious scent you were giving off.
“Are you going to cum, girl? Cum around my cock and milk it, let me fuck you full again?” Geralt growled, speeding up his thrusts and relishing the sounds you were making, the way your hips were pressing back against him, the way you cried out every time the fat head of his cock pressed against that spot deep inside of you.
“Please, Geralt, please, please,” you cried out, not even sure what you were begging for, your brain completely overwhelmed with pleasure. Geralt let out a low, rumbling moan, his hips stuttering as he felt his own impending orgasm. Jaskier watched with bated breath as Geralt once again reached under you to palm your cunt, this time choosing to pinch and roll your swollen clit between his fingers. You moaned loudly, panting and twitching against Geralt as you felt yourself cumming, the girth of his cock almost painful inside of you as you clenched around him.
“Fuck— that’s it, good girl, show Jaskier what a good little bitch you are for me,” the Witcher snarled, pressing his hips firmly against yours as he spilled inside you once again, making sure his throbbing cock was as deep in your cunt as possible. Jaskier moaned, pressing his fingers inside himself as far as he could, almost oblivious to the way his wrist ached as he ground back against his hand.
Geralt was panting, slowly coming down from the high of the Succubus’ poison once again. You whined as he slowly moved back, shivering as you felt the amount of cum that spilled out of you when he finally pulled out. You were sore and oversensitive, but you immediately found yourself missing the delicious stretch of his cock, feeling empty now that he was no longer inside of you.
Geralt sighed, lowering himself to his side and flopping down onto the ground, the coolness of the grass soothing his heated skin. Jaskier whimpered as he removed his fingers from himself, wiping off the excess oil on his discarded clothes as he stood on shaky legs, grabbing the blanket and moving it over to you and Geralt, letting you crawl on top of it before he sat down next to you.
Geralt watched you two silently, his golden eyes almost seeming to glow in the darkness. Jaskier swallowed thickly, a soft moan bubbling up in his throat as he realized that Geralt was still hard, his flushed length now resting against his stomach.
“So that— I mean, is that normal? Some sort of weird Witcher magic or did you just, I don’t know, sit there and let the Succubus chew on you for a while?” Jaskier said, still staring at the sizable cock. He had always thought that he was above average, or at least proportioned decently enough to keep men and women alike coming back again and again but oh, sweet Gods, Geralt was an absolute beast. Jaskier made a mental note to ask you later how you were able to take that thing inside yourself without being torn in half.
Geralt chuckled, feeling oddly pleased that his length was so captivating to the bard.
“I do have quite a bit of stamina from my mutations but no, this doesn’t usually happen,” he said, eyeing Jaskier who let out a soft noise of acknowledgement.
“What a pity,” Jaskier murmured, still staring at Geralt’s length, “Oh, the songs I could write about you and your divine dick,” Jaskier said dreamily, the Witcher giving him a disapproving look, like a parent that had just watched their child jump into a puddle of mud after specifically telling them not to. You groaned softly as you moved to rest your head against Geralt’s thigh, your eyes flicking up to look at Jaskier.
“I think if you write a song about his dick he’ll rip yours clean off,” you said, Geralt letting out a snort in response. Jaskier frowned, pursing his lips and sparing you a glance as he adjusted his position, leaning closer to Geralt who eyed him curiously.
“I think—” Jaskier said, reaching up to let the tips of his fingers dance across Geralt’s length, which twitched at the stimulation, “I think that Geralt, the kind-hearted and caring man that he is, would find it in himself to forgive me for writing a few odes to this magnificent specimen, if in return, I show him why I’m a bard,” Jaskier said simply, both you and Geralt quirking a brow at him.
“Because you’re a bawdy whore that can’t keep his dick to himself?” Geralt asked playfully, ignoring the scowl Jaskier made at his comment.
“No, Geralt, that is not why I’m a bard. I’m a bard because I’m good with my mouth and my hands,” he said simply, immediately lifting Geralt’s cock to his lips and taking the head into his mouth. Geralt grunted, hips twitching up at the sudden stimulation. You watched as Jaskier suckled the Witcher’s cock, a giddy, bubbly feeling building in your stomach as you realized that his cock probably still tasted of you, tasted of your slick and wetness and desire.
You watched Geralt’s face curiously as you reached up, using your thumb and forefinger to stroke the base of his cock, still flushed and heavy. The white-haired man gasped softly at the additional contact, watching you and Jaskier through half-lidded eyes. Jaskier pulled back, panting softly and reaching up to fist the Witcher’s cock, pulling his foreskin back to reveal the plump, flushed tip.
Geralt gasped when the brunette began laving little kitten licks on the head of his cock, squeezing his length as you moved your hands down to cup and fondle Geralt’s heavy sac, your breath catching in your throat as you watched Jaskier, all gentle touches and flushed cheeks, eyes closed in content as he continued lapping at the slit of Geralt’s cock which was already dripping precum.
“You two will be the death of me,” Geralt groaned, letting his head thump against the ground. You and Jaskier both smiled fondly, the bard taking the head of his cock back into his mouth, pressing the flat of his tongue against it and slowly working his way down. He had sucked cocks before, of course, but none were as thick as Geralt’s, so he took it slow, not wanting to ruin the night or have to explain to the village’s doctor why he had a dick-shaped hole in his esophagus.
You shifted to rest your upper half over Geralt’s leg, Jaskier opening his eyes to watch you curiously. You only gave him a wink before leaning forward, running your tongue over a large vein on the side of Geralt’s cock. The Witcher grunted loudly, fisting his hands into the grass below him at the feeling of two warm, slick tongues worshipping his heated flesh. He had felt many things in his life; pain, rage, sadness, fear, but none compared to the absolute overwhelming pleasure you and the bard were granting him.
“If you two don’t stop— fuck, I’m going to cum,” Geralt growled, Jaskier pulling back with a wet pop and licking his lips, gazing at Geralt with half-lidded eyes and flushed cheeks.
“That’s the idea,” he murmured sweetly before swallowing Geralt down once again, trying to relax his throat as best he could. You continued alternating between stroking and licking Geralt’s cock, heat rising in your cheeks as you realized how close your mouth was to Jaskier’s. The bard, ever the showoff, made it nearly halfway down the thick cock before needing to pull up again, panting.
Geralt groaned, forcing his eyes open and tilting his head up to watch the two of you suck him, his length twitching at the erotic sight before him. You and Jaskier pulled back momentarily, staring at each other for a moment as Jaskier glanced at Geralt before leaning over, whispering something in your ear. Geralt watched as your expression changed from curiosity to surprise to embarrassment, your wide doe-eyes darting over to Geralt before Jaskier pulled back, licking his lips.
“What are you two— oh fuck,” Geralt cried out, eyes rolling back in his head as Jaskier’s mouth met yours with the flushed and dripping head of his cock pressed in the middle. It took all of his restraint not to fuck up into the hot, slick mouths around him, overwhelming him with pleasure. You whimpered softly as you felt Jaskier’s tongue brush against yours, Geralt’s cock twitching as you both wrapped your hand around his length, fingers intertwining as you both worked his cock.
“Fuck!” Geralt let out a loud snarl, his hips jerking upwards as he came, both you and Jaskier gasping in surprise as you felt the warmth of his cum coating your lips and tongues, leaking down his cock to cover your hands. You both licked him clean, continuing to slowly jerk him, feeling him shiver and grunt under you from overstimulation. Geralt wasn’t sure whether to be grateful or upset when you and the bard pulled away, panting and licking the remnants of his seed off your hands.
Geralt sighed in content, taking a moment to relax before slowly sitting up to look at you and Jaskier. You were both staring at him, pupils blown wide and lips parted. Jaskier shifted uncomfortably, Geralt’s gaze moving to the bards still hard cock, hanging fat and heavy between his legs.
“As much as I would enjoy pinning you down and fucking you I think that’ll you’ll have to settle on riding me, little lark,” Geralt rumbled, Jaskier letting out a soft whine as he noticed that Geralt’s cock was still hard. You grabbed the discarded bottle of oil from the blanket, handing it to Jaskier who uncorked it, licking his lips and pouring a decent amount onto his hand before reaching down and gripping the Witcher’s cock once again.
“So uh, Geralt— I know with Y/N you sort of just, you know, went for it, but I would like to remind you that, ah, I’m a bit more fragile than that,” Jaskier began rambling, staring wide-eyed at Geralt’s thick length. Geralt grunted, rolling his hips up into the bard’s tight grip.
“This isn’t my first time with a man, Jaskier, but if you don’t want this you can go back to the village and I can finish myself off,” he groaned, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes closed in concentration, trying to focus on the feeling of Jaskier’s hand, somehow both rough and soft at the same time, fisting his cock. Jaskier scoffed, tightening his grip slightly and drawing a choked gasp from the man under him.
“Oh please, this isn’t my first time with a man either, Geralt, and you know me, I’m never one to back down from a challenge,” he murmured, shifting around to face Geralt’s feet and straddle the larger mans waist, biting his lip as he felt the plump head of the Witcher’s cock brush against his entrance. Geralt reached up, gripping the bards hips and squeezing gently, the uncharacteristically soft gesture making Jaskier smile softly.
You watched with bated breath as Jaskier reached back, gripping Geralt’s cock and guiding it to his ass, letting out a sharp gasp as the head pressed inside.
“Easy, Jaskier, take your time,” Geralt rumbled from under him, eyes fluttering shut at the sudden tight, wet heat of the brunette’s body. Jaskier only let out a choked whine in response as he began sliding down, eyebrows furrowed and jaw clenched at the burn and stretch. You shifted forward, sitting up on your knees and reaching up to cup the side of Jaskier’s face, his eyes fluttering open to meet yours, already glassy and unfocused.
“That’s it, that’s a good boy, just relax yourself,” the Witcher growled as his cock slipped further inside, Jaskier keening and grinding down against Geralt. Jaskier nearly cried in relief when he finally felt Geralt’s hips connect with his, knowing the white-haired man was now balls deep inside him. They both sat for a moment, panting and shuddering, Jaskier trying desperately to adjust to the feeling of being fucked open like this, being speared on a cock so thick and made to take every last inch.
The bard sighed in content, reaching down to lay his hands over Geralt’s, which were still resting on his hips. He licked his lips, rocking back against the Witcher.
“Okay, fuck— I’m okay, you can go now, come on, don’t make me beg,” he whined, a shiver running up his spine as he heard Geralt let out a deep, animalistic growl under him. He nearly screamed when Geralt suddenly lifted him up before letting him drop back down, the Witcher’s cock sliding back in easily thanks to the oil. Geralt repeated the process again and again, Jaskier quickly losing track of how many times the older man had fucked into him, his mind completely lost to the overwhelming pleasure.
You watched with wide eyes, enraptured by the sounds coming out of Jaskier’s mouth. You had always thought that there would be no sound more beautiful and ethereal than the sound of Jaskier’s voice when he danced and spun around a tavern, singing his songs and strumming his lute, but now you were sure that his moans, breathless and desperate, were the most gorgeous noises you would ever hear from him.
He let out a litany of sounds, whines and pleas and wails, tears of pleasure welling up in his eyes as he was split on Geralt’s fat cock, his own cock now drooling precum all over his stomach and thighs.
“Gods, Geralt— fuck, please, you’re so good, so absolutely amazing, I feel like you’re in my stomach, oh—“ Jaskier let out a choked, broken moan as Geralt sped up, grunting and snarling under the bard, his hands now gripping the smaller mans hips tightly enough to bruise as he fucked up into him, his hips rolling upwards to meet the bards thrusts back against him.
“Fuck, I was right, you really do moan like a whore,” Geralt snarled, Jaskier keening and throwing his hips back against the older man, pleasure shooting like electricity through his body as Geralt brushed against that spot deep inside him that made him scream.
“Geralt, please, it’s so much— please, keep talking, your voice— it’s so good, please,” Jaskier cried out desperately, his body beginning to twitch and shake with the force of his impending orgasm. He reached for his cock, only for Geralt to snarl, easily trapping both of the bards smaller hands in his own larger one, pinning them behind Jaskier’s back as he fucked up into the bard with renewed vigor.
“Don’t you dare, bard. You’re going to cum on your own, fuck yourself down on my cock and cum untouched like the whore you are,” Geralt growled, Jaskier crying out loudly at a particularly rough thrust. Geralt continued his frantic pace, his arms and thighs burning from the strain but he kept going, chasing his own pleasure and rutting as deep into the bard’s tight ass as he could.
“Come on then, my lark, cum for me. I can fucking smell it on you, smell how eager you are to cum on my cock, how eager you are to feel me fill you up and breed you like the bitch you are,” and with that Jaskier came with a wail of Geralt’s name, his body tensing and his cock twitching, thick ropes of cum spilling all over his stomach and thighs, painting his flushed skin white.
Geralt came seconds later with an animalistic noise, burying his cock as deep inside the brunette as he could, sitting up and holding Jaskier against his chest before sinking his teeth into Jaskier’s neck and drawing another whine from the bard. Geralt slowly opened his mouth, removing his teeth from Jaskier’s tender shoulder as his eyes fluttered open, revealing the sight of… Oh.
“Jaskier, for fuck sake,” he said in exasperation, Jaskier only letting out a dreamy sigh in response.
“Oh, yes, I know— it was so good, I feel like I’m in Heaven,” Jaskier murmured, Geralt huffing out a sigh.
“No, idiot, look at what you did,” Geralt said, Jaskier blinking a few times to focus his eyes, which immediately landed on your face, staring at him with wide, owlish eyes, his expression mirroring yours as he realized that not only did he paint his chest and thighs with his cum, but your face as well.
“Oh shit— did I do that?“ Jaskier let out a choked sound, reaching forward and beginning to wipe your face clean. Geralt rolled his eyes, lifting Jaskier up slowly so that he could pull his now softening cock out.
“Well, considering my cock was buried in your ass when I spent myself I’m going to assume that yes, you did that,” the Witcher grumbled, trying to ignore the shiver that ran down his spine at the pathetic, whimpering sound Jaskier made as he finally pulled out. Jaskier pulled up a discarded shirt, using it to wipe your face. You closed your eyes quickly, reaching to grab the shirt from his hands so you could clean the mess yourself.
“I ah, I’m terribly sorry about that, kind of got caught up in the moment, didn’t quite consider where I would be… Aiming,” Jaskier mumbled sheepishly. You pulled the shirt away from your face, glancing at it and frowning.
“Jaskier… Is this my shirt? Did you seriously just wipe your cum all over my shirt?” You asked incredulously, Jaskier looking down at the offending garment as he opened and closed his mouth, trying to find the words to respond.
“I think you fucked the last of his braincells out, Geralt,” you remarked, the bard huffing and scowling at you. Geralt smiled softly, groaning and pushing Jaskier so he was no longer sitting on his sore thighs. You all sat in silence for a moment before Jaskier spoke, looking over to Geralt.
“So, are you feeling any better? Dick not too chaffed? I mean, if it is I can definitely help, I’ve still got some of that lovely oil I bought back when we were—“ Geralt silenced Jaskier with a soft kick to his shin, the bard yelping. You giggled softly, taking the opportunity while Jaskier was distracted to grab his discarded shirt, slipping it on along with your underwear while he was bickering with Geralt.
“Are you two going to fight all night or can we go lay down by the campfire where it’s warm?” You asked, the two men looking up at you. Geralt frowned and scrunched his nose up when he realized you were wearing Jaskier’s shirt, the bard on the other hand completely oblivious to your new wardrobe as he stood up with a grunt, beginning to yank his smallclothes and trousers back on.
You immediately noticed Geralt’s sour expression, crossing your arms over your chest and raising a brow at the Witcher.
“You’re wearing his shirt,” he grumbled as if he already knew what you were going to ask, Jaskier blinking in surprise and glancing to you, a wide smile on his face.
“Why that she is! It looks quite lovely on you, I must say,” the bard hummed, Geralt rolling his eyes and standing up with a groan, his muscles aching and sore. Jaskier reached out automatically to steady Geralt, giving him a soft smile.
“Geralt,” you said, a teasing lilt to your voice as you eyed the Witcher. “Are you jealous? Is the big, bad White Wolf jealous that I’m wearing someone else’s shirt?” You asked, Geralt sighing loudly as he began walking back over to the campfire, not even slightly embarrassed to be the only one not wearing anything. You and Jaskier followed him, the bard sharing a mischievous look with you as you grabbed your bedrolls, laying them next to Geralt’s as he sat down.
Geralt gave no protest as you and Jaskier settled in on either side of him, piling your blankets together and snuggling closer. Geralt grunted as Jaskier slung one of his legs over his own, effectively trapping him. Geralt finally laid down with a huff, eyebrows furrowing as you immediately laid one of your hands on his chest, nuzzling into his side. You looked up at him, his golden eyes peering at you curiously.
“What’s wrong?” you murmured, staring up at him, Jaskier moving his head to look up at Geralt.
“I—“ he paused, looking away and considering his next words. “I don’t know why you two want to lay next to me after… That. I was rough with both of you. You’re fragile,” he murmured, refusing to meet your eyes. You and Jaskier exchanged a look before snuggling closer to Geralt, running your fingers over one of his scars absentmindedly.
“We already told you, we wanted it. We loved it and you weren’t too rough, we trust you. But, I mean— you didn’t— you didn’t really have a choice so if you don’t want us to sleep next to you I understand,“ you sighed, feeling guilt at the thought that Geralt was so concerned with you and Jaskier that he might have ignored his own wants. You shifted in order to move away but Geralt quickly wrapped a large, muscled arm around you, pulling you back against his chest.
“No. I wanted it. I just— didn’t think you would want it too,” Geralt rumbled, still staring up at the sky, trying to avoid your gaze. You relaxed against him again, finally closing your eyes.
“Oh Geralt, you really are oblivious,” Jaskier murmured with a sigh of content, the Witcher grumbling and wrapping an arm around the bard, squeezing him lightly and making the brunette smile.
For the first time in what felt like years, you all slept peacefully.
