Thalia: whenever you say that phrase, I know that I’m about to hear the most horrific thing ever and I need to mentally steel myself.

Jason: I was just saying that when I was 5 I went for a swim in the river and it was really fun

Thalia: that was… surprisingly normal

Jason: and then I got caught and in trouble and got sewn into a sack of weasels and tossed into said river. Which is kinda extreme, because the normal punishment is bad but not that bad. One of the kids said they hope I drowned so I think the ye just wanted to kill me… lot of people really wanted me to die from ages 3 to like 7 to be honest

I just realised that Jason/Thalia largely parallel Nico/Bianca and now I'm sobbing. Remember in the ending of lost hero? Jason was anxiously waiting for Thalia to join the chb meeting saying "She promised, after all" he sounded just like a little Nico saying "where is my sister?"

Jason Grace , the high and mighty leader of Rome becoming such a soft lil bro to Thalia is just so heartbreaking and adorable :( the moment he saw her face he immediately knew she was family, he took her hand when she offered it to him with zero hesitation and hugged her, was enraged after she was turned into an ice statue, and was deeply pained when he found out she had a whole new life without him and that she most likely won't need him anymore but all the while still desperately wanting her to be there with him in chb, for moral support. Gosh he's such a puppy :')

Thalia was also SUCH a soft older sis too, there's this passage in the lost hero where jason went "But we've barely talked" bc she said she had to leave and her eyes soften at his kicked-puppy face. Also the only thing that calmed Thalia from blowing up at juno was jason grabbing her hand and calling her "sis" UGHH THEY ARE BOTH SO SOFT

chewing on big 3 kids being capable of absolutely devastating natural disasters and apocalypse-level outbursts of power.

Percy who creates hurricanes complete with lightning that pummel titans and flooding and whirlpools that can trap god-powered crocodile kaijus. Earthquakes that erupt volcanoes. Hazel who sunk an entire small island entirely on her own with her final breath, against giants and a primordial goddess of the earth.

If Nico dramatically wilts plants and cracks the ground when he's mildly stressed, and disintegrates enemies down to their skeletons with a single touch or rips their souls out of their still-living bodies, and can command armies of the undead, what happens if he tries to cause destruction? Even outside of total zombie apocalypse or insta-killing a crowd, he's shown enough geokinesis to absolutely be capable of the same destruction Percy and Hazel can manifest.

What about Jason? He can control the winds and storms. There's no way he can't create the most destructive tornadoes with casual effort that he can never justify using for the collateral damage they'd cause. With a single thought he can rip up a town and launch the remnants 50 miles out. (Jason in the center of a Dead Man Walking tornado, vortexes responding to his movements like an avatar...)

And what can anyone do to combat it? How can you fight the wind lifting everything you know and love into the sky, or floods sweeping you away, or the ground giving way beneath you? The Big 3 kids are scary because they are forces of nature, and their whims are the only thing preventing you from witnessing that at any given moment.

I don't care about Nico and Bianca's casting. I care about watching Thalia get so angry at Bianca for leaving her little brother when she never got a second chance with her own. I care about the look on her face when Percy tells her that Bianca is joining the hunters. I care about her looking over the San Francisco skyline and coming to terms with the fact that her not-so-little sister doesn't need her anymore, and she will never see her little brother again, even though he is only a few miles away. I care about those being the things that convince her to join the Hunt. I care about her seeing Jason in Nico's eyes.

there is this one thing that would FASCINATE me if i ever watched the show, and that's how thalia would react to a blond percy jackson, who's the age jason should be, who can cause storms (hurricanes have thunder too, and thalia just remembers how when jason was a grumpy toddler who really only had thalia, he would spark while he had fits), who has those blue eyes (even if the wrong shade). i just

i think that it would be really fascinating and also probably affect their relationship in a really interesting way.

Machete and Vasco are so pomegranate-and-the-hand-that-slices coded. To me.

Pomegranates are seen as messy, bloody, inconvenient fruits. You slice or tear or bite and in return for your effort you come away underwhelmed, disgusted, and stained too deep to wash. The consumption of a pomegranate is a violent act of defilement, for both the fruit and the eater.

But that is because most do not understand how to open a pomegranate. They have little patience for the precise carving. They see no point in coreing the fruit gently, no reason to be reverent as they pull the quarters apart. When done correctly, opening a pomegranate leaves little mess. Your fingers will still stain, your knife will still slick, but there will be no pool of crimson drowning both you and the fruit.

The seeds are only sweet to those who understand the merit of a light hand and intricate slicing. Why put in so much effort for a food so bitter and clearly armored against consumption? Surely it must not yearn to be eaten.
