There comes a moment, a few years forward. Precision of memory fails. The exact cadence of their voice, light of their eyes, the way they made their tea. You catch yourself in the midst of a story; you don’t know the next words. They’re not here to ask. Immortalised in grief, they are myth and memory.

Reflection ~A Trigun fan comic~ (Comic Script in the Keep Reading)
Context note: This takes place just after the events of TriMax Vol 10 on Brad’s ship going to December. I’m giving them more time on the trip because Livio grew a full-ass beard between pickup and drop-off (prob because of his healing factor, who knows.) Enjoy!
Vash's coffee is a reference to my first comic Black Coffee & Donuts!
Comic Script for Reflection: A Trigun Fan Comic
PAGE 1
Panel 1: Vash, with his hair down and dressed in his black undersuit, wakes up startled in a cold sweat. He clearly slept poorly bags under his eyes. It’s only been a day or two since he laid Wolfwood to rest.
Panel 2: A full body shot of him stepping out of the bed, his Colt weight down his hip, face obscured.
Panel 3: He leans over the counter in front of a mirror, shoulders hunched, head hanging.
Panel 4: He looks up, hand covering the remaining blonde of his hair so it appears full black. Large pale portraits of Rem and Wolfwood flank Vash on each side in the background.
Vash: Rem, Wolfwood, you both sacrificed everything. Funny isn’t it that I’m beginning to look more like you?
PAGE 2
Panel 1: Vash flashes back to a moment when he and Wolfwood walked side by side in the arid desert of No Man’s Land.
Vash: Wolfwood, you were there every day by my side, now I'm alone again.
Panel 2: Another flashback to a moment Vash and Wolfwood sat on the edge of a rooftop and looked out over the cityscape to the stars pricking the sky.
Vash: There was so much unsaid between us.
Panel 3: A fresh flashback to the couch, where Vash held Wolfwood's hand in his final moments.
Vash: I wish I had known how to tell you that I loved you before it was too late.
Panel 4: A dramatic crop of half of Vash’s lower face, tears streaming down his cheeks as he cries out.
PAGE 3
Panel 1: Livio, a tall, tan, broad-shoulder, white-haired man with a tribal tattoo over his left eye, dressed in a white shirt and black pants, bursts through the bedroom door concerned.
Livio: Mr. Vash, I heard crying, are you okay?!
Panel 2: Vash looks over, a little comically rattled and surprised
Vash: Livio?
Panel 3: Close-up of Vash’s lower face smiling, a tear rolling down his face.
Vash: I’m alright.
Panel 4: A blank Panel, filled with still air
Vash: Actually.
Panel 5: Big Panel, Vash crying into the crook of his arm.
Vash: I'm not... I miss him. I can’t stop missing him.
PAGE 4
Panel 1: Vash rubs the tears from his eyes, Livio grabs his arm shamefully, his body language clearly showing regret and discomfort.
Livio: I’ll uh, leave you to it, and see myself out.
Vash: It’s okay, I just didn’t want anyone to see me like this.
Panel 2: Close-up of Livio looking down.
Livio: It’s better to let yer feelin’s out than to hide ‘em and let ‘em fester, I should know.
Panel 3: Livio turns to the side and a sad snot stream runs down his nose he was trying to keep in. Livio is very much struggling allowing himself to miss Wolfwood. He doesn’t feel like, he should even though he desperately does.
Sounds effects: sniff
Vash: Now who’s keeping in their feelings? Let it out! He was your friend too, wasn’t he? You deserve to cry too.
Panel 4: Livio smiles sheepishly. He wants to make Wolfwood proud of him first.
Livio: Yeah, I suppose he was, all this time. But I don’t think I’ve earned that right yet.
Panel 5: Livio’s stomach growls LOUDLY. Draw in a chibi style, breaking the tension.
Sound effects: grumble
Panel 6: Drawn in chibi style, Vash waves around his noddle arms and Livio’s mood brightens, grinning with excitement.
Vash: Oh, are you hungry?
Livio: Hell yeah, I am!
Vash: What would you like?
Livio: Uh, pancakes!
Vash: Alright, pancakes it is!
PAGE 5
Panel 1: They sit down and eat at a retro 50s-style diner booth in a small nook of the ship. Livio swirls the last of his pancake in syrup on the plate. Vash cradles a black coffee with both hands looking at Livio.
Vash: Hey, Livio, what do you want to do when this is all over?
Livio: Dunno, maybe wander around for a while or return to the orphanage to help make up for what I and the other guy did.
Panel 2: Livio hangs his head, eyebrows worried.
Livio: If I can be honest with ya, I'm scared to face them.
Panel 3: Zoomed out drawn in chibi style to break the tension. Livio shivers.
Vash: Is that scarier than Elendira?
Sound effects: shivers
Panel 4: They laugh.
Livio: Well, when ya put it like, hell no!
Vash: Haha!
Panel 5: Extreme close-up of Livio’s eyes softening as he remembers back to his time at the orphanage.
Livio: I think he’d like that. They were my first real family.
Panel 6: Vash is hit with a sudden realization, Livio has no one right now. In a misty background, he remembers when Razlo cried out after Wolfwood did in Master Chapel.
Vash (internal): Wolfwood, you left Livio in my care... so we wouldn’t be alone.
Razlo (background): ...I’m all alone again!
PAGE 6
Panel 1: Close-up of Vash with the sincerest smile.
Vash: I hope you know you’re not alone. You have me now.
Panel 2: Livio’s face contorts sorrowfully.
Livio/Razlo (internal): I don’t deserve this.
Livio: Mr. Vash I --
Vash: Wait, before you say anything...
Panel 3: Zoom out so we can see both of them and the table. Vash extends his leg as he digs deep into his pants pocket. Livio leans on the table watching him.
Vash: I know that we don’t know each other well yet, but he trusted you with me and I trusted him, wholly and completely, so…
Panel 4: Extreme close-up, Vash pulls out 2 black leather wristbands with silver latches.
PAGE 7
Panel 1: Vash offers Livio a wristband while holding one for himself in the same hand.
Vash: Here. One for you, one for me. I used a strap from his cross to make it, so part of him will always be with us.
Panel 2: Livio puts the wristband on his left hand.
Livio: Thank you.
Panel 3: Extreme close-up of Livio’s non-tattooed eye, tears pricking his lashes.
Livio: I hope one day I can repay yer kindness.
Panel 4: They fist bump wristbands in view.
Vash: Welcome to the family, Livio.
PAGE 8
Panel 1: A large portrait of Wolfwood with his sunglasses and back turned, fills the background, smiling as he holds his cigarette in his hand.
Livio: Hey, Mr. Vash?
Vash: Mm?
Livio: Would you mind tellin’ me a lil more about him… Wolfwood? Ya see, we were close at the orphanage as kids, but I don’t know who he became. I’ll understand if you don’t want to, you owe me absolutely nothin’.
Panel 2: A close-up of Vash’s coffee, Wolfwood’s staple morning drink, Vash’s reflection smiles back, tears in his eyes.
Vash: I’d love to.
PAGE 9
Panel 1: Bonus! Sometime later.  Drawn in chibi style.
Livio: Can I hug ya?
Vash: Sure, buddy!
Panel 2: They hug, Vash smiles, and Livio whimpers as he lets out the waterworks. He’s thankful for Vash’s kindness.
Panel 3: This sets Vash off, who also sobs. They cry in each other’s arms.

confidently lost | k. mingyu
Tumblr media
pairing: mingyu x reader
genre: smut (this is really filthy i'm so sorry lmao)
word count: 2.8k
tags: dilf!mingyu, divorced!mingyu, babysitter!reader, age gap (reader is in early 20s, mingyu early 40s), daddy kink, sir kink(?), mommy kink (mingyu wants to make reader a mommy), breeding kink, mild size kink, dirty talk, unprotected sex
summary: it's not easy to work your way through college, luckily for you, your babysitting job pays exceptionally well. and your boss is absolutely gorgeous.
you'd never really been fond of the colour grey. the way moody clouds clogged up the sky with cold indifference; or the concrete jungle of the city urged you to succumb to stressful days - it had always left an uneasy feeling within you. there was no warmth to it, no playful side, no joy, nothing.
although you'd found a new appreciation for it, once you started working for your current boss - mr kim mingyu. grey looked different on him. his suits seemed elegant, rather than arrogant. there were no harsh edges around him, nothing cold in his radiant smile or his salt and pepper hair. he was a kind, dedicated and gorgeous man, who always treated you with kindness, no matter how late he came home. and on top of all that, he was also a wonderful father. he was able to make a color as hopeless as grey shine.
"mr kim", he had introduced himself with a firm handshake, keeping his gaze steady as you felt your whole body flare up. "although mingyu's just fine with me. you're from uh- what are they called again? 'tiny treasures', right?"
you must have looked like a fish out of water then, gawking at him with wide eyes and parted lips, as though he had two heads standing on his shoulder. as much as you had tried, your eyes kept wandering to his broad chest and tall frame, feeling almost entranced by his presence alone. "uh- yes, mr kim. i'm currently still in college, so this is me trying to uh- make some money on the side. your daughter's two, right?"
"eunji's birthday is in december, she'll turn three then. i work from nine to five - her mother only gets her every second week of the month, so i appreciate any help i can get around the house", his smile had almost knocked the breath out of your lungs. even then you had known that this was going to be a problem. "and it's mingyu, sweetheart."
"when do you want me to start?", you'd merely replied, voice sounding disgustingly nervous.
his smile had turned into a smirk. "when are you able to?"
working for him simultaneously felt like a dream and like an absolute nightmare. yes, he might be a kind boss and eunji was nothing short of adorable. even his house seemed almost too perfect to be true. you were very certain of the fact that his job probably payed him handsomely - judging by his designer clothes and the many expensive toys eunji was entertained with. and yet, you felt this strange expanding in your chest sensation, whenever mr kim handed you your payment for the day. maybe he made you feel uneasy with his perfect little life as a confident man in his early fortys. maybe you felt like you didn't quite belong there, despite his welcoming presence.
or maybe, just maybe, it was your massive crush on him that fueled your anxiety. but who was to say?
"oh, shi- did i wake you two?", your ears perked up at the sound of your employer's voice, fingers still entangled in his daughter's soft hair. soft snores escaped her parted lips, her tiny arms holding still holding on to your torso. no matter how much you enjoyed hearing eunji's tiny giggles, you still felt relieved once she finally calmed down enough to fall asleep.
"hm? oh no, don't worry, sir", you replied, voice hushed. "uh sorry- do you mind taking her? my legs are starting to fall asleep."
"oh no, we can't have that", he chuckled, rounding the coffee table to lift her up from your lap, placing a soft kiss on top of her head. there were smile lines around his eyes as his beamed down at you and you swore, you could feel your heart skip a beat.
sure, you were quite aware of the age difference between you two. and yes, you were also quite aware of how stupid it would be, to start fucking your boss as someone who needs his money to go through college. but by god - were you not allowed to fantasize even a little bit?
he was goddamn gorgeous. his chest was broad, shoulders wide, biceps bulging even in dress shirts, and worst of all - his smile. there was always this wolfish glint in his eyes whenever he gifted you with a smile that left you questioning your sanity. it felt both, dangerous and exciting - as if you were breaking the rules just by talking to him. sometimes in moments like these, it did feel like he knew what kind of effect he had on you. and worst of all - he seemed like he found enjoyment in it. although you decided it'd best to bury that thought as deep as you could in the depth of your mind. who could afford to hope for something so naive?
your eyes followed him as he carried his daughter to her room, stretching your legs from underneath you. you hummed in relief at the blood rushing to your feet once again, letting your head fall back on the couch. exhaustion spread through your body, only suppressing a yawn with great effort. you were so ready for bed at this point.
"thank you again for coming in so late", mingyu sighed out, closing the living room door behind him with a soft 'click'. "i know, you usually don't really do weekends."
you offered him a faint smile. "oh please, it's nothing, mr kim. was there an emergency at the office or something? if i'm allowed to ask, that is."
to your surprise, he paused for a second, smile slightly faltering, before he moved to run his fingers through his hair. "it's mingyu, darling", the response felt automatic at this point but still never failed to make you feel all giddy. "i know you mean well, but i feel like i belong in a retirement home everytime you call me by my last name."
"i'm sorry, mr mingyu."
he snorted at that, casually leaning against the doorframe. "so she's afraid of using my name, but not afraid of teasing her boss?"
the heat that spread on your face felt unbearable to you, and yet you merely offered a shrug, suppressing the urge to giggle like a teen with a crush. "who said i was afraid?"
"if not afraid then-", his head tilted to the side, glancing up and down your still seated body. you felt so very exposed under his gaze, sinking further into the couch cushions. "is it nervousness? do i make you nervous, sweetheart?"
"n- do i have any reason to be nervous?" your question may have been bold, but the look of surprise on mr kim's face was worth the embarrassment crawling into your skin.
another pause on his end. his eyes trailed off into the distance, chasing something only he was aware of, his hands busy rolling up his sleeves. "i had a date today."
oh. oh fuck.
despite yourself, you felt your heart sink. how silly of you to hold any sort of expectations in regards to him. what did you think was going to happen? he was a grown man, free to do whatever who whomever he wanted, without any kind of obligation to his damned babysitter. "oh?", you flinched at the sound of your voice, sounding meek even to your own ears. "that's great. i hope it went well?"
just like that, he snapped back into reality, attention zeroing in on you. his smiley demeanor faded, replaced with an intensity you usually only saw from him during very particularly draining workdays. "i know eunji has a mother, i'm not looking for a replacement. she's my everything - i'd do anything for her, so it's... difficult to make the right decision on who's allowed into our lifes."
"your date sounds like a very special lady to be allowed such a privilege." mr kim sat on the edge of the sofa, the distance between you feeling almost too much to bare. he nodded along to your words, keeping his eyes trained on your face. were he any other man you'd try to escape his look, but you found yourself transfixed by him - unable to move even one muscle.
"that's exactly my dilemma", he frowned, arm stretching out across the back of the sofa, hand suspiciously close to the back of your head. "i already have someone to take care of my baby girl, and she does such a fantastic job too."
"that's- so kind of you to say, sir." his fingers brushed against your hair and you felt like you could die right then and there. you couldn't help but lean into his soft touch, a faint gasp escaping your lips. "i- i enjoy working here quite a lot! eunji's wonderful. such a quick learner too."
he hummed in response to your neediness, boldness shining through as he inched closer to you, until you felt the hear radiating off his body. "y'know...", he trailed off, voice raspier than just a moment ago. "all i kept thinking, while i sat there with this lovely lady was how i already have my two girls waiting for me at home."
you didn't feel like breathing anymore. "mr kim?"
"fuck-", his hand travelled from your hair to your cheeks, squeezing your lips together between his fingers in a swift motion. his face was so close now, you could make out every fine line on his handsome face, his breath ghosting across your skin. "you always look so pretty with my daughter in your arms. would make any man think."
his lips were so close to yours now, if you wanted to you could simply lean forward to connect yours with his, yet your remained still under him. "i've- i never wanted to assume intent, sir. i love... being around you and eunji."
"tell me you don't want this, sweetheart. tell me and i'll stop at once."
a whine. "i want you so fucking bad, sir."
the kiss was everything you could have hoped for. he tasted like way too expensive wine, feeling intoxicated just by the taste alone. his hands roamed your torso, trailing up and down your sides, groaning into your mouth. you felt electrified connected to him, static shock alerting your every nerve of his taste, his weight on you, his sounds.
"feel so good, sweetheart", he rasped as he grinded against your hips. "let daddy treat you well, yeah?"
the moan you left out at the nickname was involuntary, arching your back off the couch, you felt like a fucking mess. "oh fuck- daddy."
he laughed softly, toying with the top buttons of your blouse. "not mingyu but daddy?", his tongue swiped across his bottom lip. "wanna be a good girl for daddy? so needy for me, fuck."
one by one, he opened your blouse tantalizingly slow, teasing you every so often with a small kiss to the corners of your lips. all you could do was whine out your complaints, holding on to his shoulders, rubbing your palms against the soft material of his shirt. mingyu hissed at the sight of you in your bra, head dipping low to mouth at the top of your breasts.
pushing your chest out, against his face, you whined out a string of curses. your body felt too sensitive, every touch and every kiss setting you ablaze with want. you tried your best to look for any sort of friction, your panties already clinging to your wet cunt.
"shhh", he cooed, freeing your tits out of their confines. "don't wanna wake up our girl, right mommy?"
your eyes widened, head snapping up to meet his dark gaze. even through your hazy mind, you could feel your heartbeat quickening at his words. he met your expression with a smirk. "would you like that, honey? give eunji a sibling? become a mommy yourself?"
your response was immediate, your lips crashing into his once with newfound need, fingers finding purchase in his greying locks. pushing against him, he landed on his back, lying there with awe in his eyes as you climbed right on top of him. the feeling of his hard on in his trousers overwhelming you as you ground your hips against him in a rocking motion. the friction against your clit, letting you moan out in desperate pleasure.
his hands landed on your hips, your skirt all bunched up, revealing your thighs to him. guiding you into a steady rhythm, he couldn't help but gently thrust up into you. he grit his teeth, hissing at a particular pointed angle. "let me stretch you out first."
"n- no, wanna feel you now, daddy", you responded, hands on his pecs. "don't care if it hurts."
"there's no 'if' in this, baby", he sighed, squeezing his eyes shut in concentration. "are you sure?"
frantically, you nodded your head 'yes', hips still slowly circling against him, addicted to the pleasure shooting through you. mingyu softly pushed against you, hands making quick work of his zipper. with a sharp hiss, his cock jumped free, your mouth watering at the sight alone.
he was fucking huge - without a doubt the biggest you ever had so far. his tip already glistening with precum, you reached out with trembling hands, thumb swiping across his leaking slit. "shit", mingyu groaned out, trying his damnedest to keep his hips from bucking up. your fingertips trailed along his greying happytrail, relishing in the subdued noises he couldn't keep quite in.
shifting in his lap, you pushed your panties to the side, shuddering at the feeling of cold air hitting your cunt. "gorgeous", he said, fingers digging into the meat of your thighs. "and already so wet for daddy?"
"yeah, all f- for daddy." you let yourself slide up and down his length, coating him with your wetness, before aligning the tip with your pulsating cunt. his eyes met yours for a brief second, the hunger in them almost consuming you whole. without any prior warning, he finally rocked up into you.
not even halfway in, you already felt stuffed, tears forming in your eyes as you worked to accommodate his sheer girth. the stretch was deliciously painful, nails digging into the back of his hands.
mingyu did his best to soothe you, fingers rubbing gentle circles into your clit, bottom lip caught between his teeth. "'m so sorry, baby. i know it's too big", he cooed. "you need a- fuck- you need a second?"
as stubborn as ever, you shook your head with a pout on your lips, sinking further down on him. "hurt so good."
"yeah?", he half moaned, half hummed. "you like getting your cunt stretched out by just a- anyone? or is daddy special?"
once fully inside, you felt yourself clench around him, wetness dripping down his balls. the squelch of you moving up his cock sounded almost pornographic to your ears, the added stimulation of his fingers on your clit, forcing soft moans out of you. "no, just f- for you!"
even though the pace was agonizingly slow, you couldn't trust yourself to move any faster, thighs already trembling from the pleasure coiling in your stomach. though mingyu's resolve seemed to run slim, as he pushed himself off the cushions, pressing his chest against yours. the material of his shirt rubbing against your nipples as he thrust into you again and again, new pace making you head spin.
"oh fuck", you mewled, face buried in the crook of his neck. mingyu showed no mercy on you, his motions swift and smooth, fingers still expertly on your clit, working you towards your orgasm. everything felt like too much and yet not nearly enough. your mind was empty, fully succumbing to the heat in your stomach.
"you gonna cum f'me? let me fucking fill you up?", he grunt out his question.
with a shaky nod, you squealed into his shirt. "yes, fuck! please, sir-"
"oh fuck." and with a loud smack against your ass, you finally burst, vision turning white. you felt his pace stutter at your orgasm, chanting his name like a prayer. and all through that, mingyu kept his pace, fucking you through it like his life depended on it.
as soon as you felt your body go limp from exhaustion, he hoisted you up from his lap, laying you on your back, before he started drilling into you once again. with no more regard to your pleasure, he moved almost animalistic, panting right next to your ear. there was something insanely hot about the way he chased after his own release, using your body however he saw fit.
you let out a whine. "need your cum in me, daddy. fillin' me up to make me a m- mommy."
his hips stuttered at that, pressing kisses to your neck as a reward. "you want my cum?" and with one last thrust he stilled inside you, pumping you full. "then fucking take it."
if you'd felt full before, this was nothing compared to it, ropes of cum flooding your cunt and spilling out of you. you vaguely thought about the promise of pregnancy that mingyu mentioned, a soft smile gracing your lips as you pressed a soft kiss on to his temple.
his hands felt heaven sent as he smoothed over the skin of your thighs, feeling content with the silence between you two. when he finally lifted his head to look at you, there was a glint shining in his eyes that wasn't quite there before - and for a moment, you imagined what he might have looked like at your age. "hi."
you snorted. "hi yourself."
"this was amazing", he leaned to kiss you, careful as not to crush you with his weight. "i meant what i said, sweetheart. i don't want anyone else but you - if you'll have me."
the question seemed almost ridiculous as you grinned against his lips. "you're silly to think i wouldn't."
"hmm", he sighed. "all mine now."

The sun was high in the clear, blue sky, its rays beaming down and heating the salty ocean air, while you stood on the shore, your feet atop the sturdy wet sand; you were wholly mesmerized as you stared down, watching the water as it lapped against your ankles before it was pulled back out to the Atlantic like a yo-yo on a string.
There was a beach you'd go to growing up where even on the hottest day of the year, the ocean was too cold to swim in—you'd lie in the sun, play in the sand, fly kites, build bonfires, collect sand dollars and seashells, and when you got too warm, you'd cool off by dipping your toes in the chilled water that washed ashore.
It was December, the month before the coldest of the year here in Miami, and you were in your bathing suit, basking in the sun's hot rays and the salt water soaking your feet that was at a temperature more than comfortable enough to swim in.
The waves crashing was the loudest sound, followed by children's laughter and birds screeching in the distance, but splashing is what caught your attention, lifting your head and your hand shielding your eyes from the brightness as you took in what was before you. Out in the waist-deep water, a handsome man's head popped up above the surface as he threw it back, seeing his profile while he rose to stand, sliding his hands into his hair, the sun hitting the drops rolling down his bare upper body to make him glitter in the light.
There was the beautiful curve of his nose and plush lips, the softness of his belly, and the prominent muscle tone in his arms, watching as he wiped his face with one large palm.
He was gorgeous and had your heart picking up in speed and butterflies fluttering around in your stomach; then he was facing you, his chocolate-colored eyes meeting yours, flashing you a panty-dropping smile that had you forgetting how to breathe as he started walking—no, strutting—your way, with the confidence of James Bond on a mission.
There was a chance Javier Peña was going to be the death of you by simply being too damn pretty.
More of his body was revealed as the ocean got shallower, allowing you to see the salmon-colored short swim trunks he wore that didn't even make it halfway down his thighs. The moment he was within reach of you, his long arms were wrapping around to pull you flush against his wet body, not even caring because his lips sought out yours, tasting of salt and coffee.
The kissing stopped, and his nose nudged yours.
"Come swim with me," he said in a low rasp.
"Okay," you whispered and understood why sailors were so afraid of sirens; Javi could ask you to do anything at this moment with his smoky-sweet words, and you would—like joining him in the ocean when you planned on sunbathing.
He took your hand and led you into the warm water, and once it was to your chest, he turned your way, looping your arms around his neck and grabbing onto the globes of your ass to lift you, your legs immediately going around his waist like he wanted.
"This isn't swimming," you said, smiling.
"It's better than swimming," he replied, nuzzling his face into your neck and kissing up the column of your throat to your jaw.
Tiny waves were hitting against his back, the bigger ones a distance away.
"And you better keep things PG—there are children on the shore who can see us."
The three kids in question belonged to Steve and Connie Murphy.
You were at the same little stretch of beach Javi had taken you to earlier that morning to propose, and you were both caught in a compromising situation by a lifeguard. It was away from the busier, touristy areas, so you and his friend's family were the only people there.
His head came up while his hands tightened on your backside, the front of his swim shorts grinding into you.
"They can't see shit under the water," he said, looking you in the eyes. "We're too far away."
“I guess we are.” Your lips met his, kissing him hard and welcoming his tongue that licked into your mouth.
Both of you were still riding the high of being newly engaged, even with your beautiful ring staying behind at Steve and Connie’s to keep it safe. And that wasn’t the only exciting thing to happen that day—you’d finally given the go-ahead to start trying for a baby, and your fiancé was beyond ecstatic and utterly insatiable, which you were loving and not even a little surprised he was getting handsy.
As if on cue, there was a loud shout of "Tío (Uncle)!" followed by splashing. Turning your head, you saw the Murphys’ nine-year-old, Olivia, paddling toward you on a bright yellow boogie board. Her parents were at the shore with her two toddler brothers, the tiny Murphys looking adorable in their swim trunks, shirts, and little floppy hats as they played in the water.
You untangled yourself from Javi, your feet sinking into the sand under you. He smiled, looking past you at the child heading your way in her black wet suit.
"Tesorito (Little treasure)!" he called. "¿Vas a ir a las olas (Are you going to the waves)?"
"Si (Yes)! Dame un empujon (Give me a push)."
The small waves were crashing not too far from you, and as soon as she was close, Javi was giving her a shove toward her destination. He stood beside you with his arm over your shoulders, both watching the young girl as she easily caught a wave with her belly on the board, riding it all the way ashore.
"She's pretty good at that," you commented.
"You wanna try it out?" he asked, kissing your hair.
Olivia was running down the beach, heading to where the rest of her family was to get back into the ocean.
"I'm good. I just wanna enjoy the water." You moved to have your body floating on the water’s surface, closing your eyes.
"I'm gonna do some laps."
"How do you have the energy to do laps?"
"Could be how great my day's been." He kissed your cheek, and it made you smile. "We're engaged, getting married soon, and hopefully starting our family. Plus, I got a couple of hours alone with you to fool around. It's been a great fucking day."
"My money's on that large black coffee you chugged when we stopped at McDonald's to get Olivia and Stevie apology Happy Meals for getting back to the house so late."
He sighed, and you just knew he was pouting. "Maybe it's the coffee, but I like my reasons more..."
"I like your reasons more, too. Go swim your laps. I'll stay right here." The little swells had your body rocking softly.
He kissed your cheek again. "Okay."
Splashing sounded, telling you he’d started swimming; you also heard Olivia kicking her feet nearby to paddle back out to the waves.
"You're really good at shredding those waves, kiddo,” you said.
"Thanks!" she replied. "It's fun!"
"It looks fun."
She was close to you now.
"You wanna try it?"
Your feet touched the sand as you stood up to look at her with a smile.
"I'd rather watch you."
"Okay!"
She continued her journey toward the crashing waves, seeing her feet behind her disturbing the water as she kicked them for momentum. Your hand was shielding your eyes again, finding it interesting how the girl took a minute to decide on the wave she wanted before paddling hard to catch it.
It seemed quieter, and you realized you could no longer hear Javi swimming, turning your head from side to side and not spotting him, looking over your shoulder to see if he'd gone to shore and not finding him there either.
You'd be lying if you said you weren't worried, but right away, your mind was thinking the worst, like he got swept out to sea or something got him... That had you starting to freak out, the Jaws theme playing in your head not helping.
Something under the water grabbed onto your hips from behind, and you screamed, the following bite to your ass causing you to scream louder—your heart was pounding in your chest, adrenaline making you turn in place and push the man away by his broad shoulders.
Javi chose to stand then, rivulets of water dripping down his face and off his arms as he laughed; his grinning smile was so big it made his dimple appear, his eyes crinkling at the edges in pure glee, his hand flat against his chest.
His merriment had you scowling.
"It's not funny!" you exclaimed, lightly shoving his shoulder. "You scared the shit out of me!"
He wiped the wetness from his face as he calmed down.
"I'm sorry, Cielito." He was still smiling, his hands gripping your waist to step into your space so your bodies touched. "I didn't mean to scare the shit out of you." His head dipped to kiss over your thudding pulse point, shivering when his lips trailed up to your ear, feeling his hot breath tickling your skin as he spoke softly. "How can I make it up to you?"
"Are you seriously seducing me to get out of me being mad at you?"
"Is it working?" He nipped at your earlobe.
“Of course, it’s working, and you’re rude for exploiting my weaknesses."
He huffed in amusement and straightened to meet your gaze, his large hands coming up to cup your face.
"I'm sorry for scaring you, mi amor (my love)." His thumbs stroked over your cheeks. "I was just having fun."
You smiled, touching his hands. “You’ve got my fucking number and know all the ways to get me to stop being mad at you—I’m fucked. Apology accepted ‘cause you’re so damn cute.”
He leaned in to kiss you sweetly.
Within a minute, he had your legs wrapped around his hips again while you made out in the warm water. At some point, you found yourself clinging to him from behind as he swam you around and watched Olivia bodyboard.
When you finally went to lie in the sun on the beach, Javi stayed behind to play with Steve, Olivia, and Stevie.
Connie was sitting in a chair under a large umbrella with their one-year-old, Nate. There were two more seats on either side of her, along with towels on the sand, a gray cooler, and a wagon they used to haul it and the rest of their stuff. You got into a tote bag that had yours and Javi's things to grab your sunglasses and sat down next to the other woman in a chair outside of the umbrella's shadow for the sunlight to dry you off.
"I've never seen him this happy," Connie said. Nate was in her arms, drinking a bottle filled with water.
"Seen who happy?" you asked, looking at her through your dark lenses.
Connie's sunglasses were resting atop her head, and she was smiling at you. "Javi," she answered. "I've known him for a long time, and he's never been this happy.” Her face shifted to something thoughtful. “Even when he came to stay with us here, he'd try to hide it, but you could see the sadness in his eyes. This time, though?” She smiled once more. “All I see is happiness and excitement when I look at him." She reached over to put a hand on your arm. "Thank you for making our friend happy and helping me get that guest bedroom remodel."
When Steve found out Javi and you had fucked in their guest bedroom, he freaked out and decided that room and the bathroom attached to it needed to be completely redone, including new furniture and bedding, after you left. This was a project Connie had wanted done for quite some time, but her husband always said they couldn’t afford it.
Her gratitude for the remodel made you laugh, and you patted her hand on your arm. "You're welcome," you told her. "If there's anything else you want done around the house, Javi and I are more than happy to offer our services."
"I'm sure you are," she teased. A wistful sigh came from her. "I remember what it was like when Steve and I first got together—we couldn't keep our hands off each other. We were like that up until we moved to Colombia, and he got real busy with work. Then we had Olivia, and I know you guys are excited about having your own babies, but sweetie, between working full time, taking care of my kids, and keeping the house from being a complete disaster, there's hardly any time for us to be alone. We are so busy, I haven't even had a chance to decorate for Christmas, let alone think about getting properly laid."
A big frown was on your face, feeling bad for Connie and worrying your relationship might meet the same fate.
You took her hand in both of yours. "Here's the plan," you said. "When we get back to the house, we're decorating." She started to say something, but you cut her off. "—we'd love to help, Connie, and with two extra adults, there are enough people to wrangle the children while we get it done. Then, it might be last minute, but we'll need to find a babysitter that I will pay whatever amount they ask, so the four of us can go out to a bar, have some drinks, and hopefully get you properly laid."
There was a little smile on her lips. "That's sweet of you, but I can't ask you to do any of that."
"And you're not asking me; I'm insisting, and Javi will insist, too. We're gonna help you out. It's the least we can do."
She seemed to be weighing it in her mind. "You're sure?" she asked.
"Oh, yeah," you answered immediately. "Us women gotta stick together, and it's my duty as your friend to help you get dicked down."
She snorted. "I think we're gonna be best friends."
You smiled. "I'd like that."
"I'd like that, too."
After the conversation ended, you returned to relaxing in the sun. There was a thin layer of sunscreen on your skin, Javi was more than happy to help you put on when you first got there, having done the same for him.
Out in the sparkling ocean, Steve was playing with his son, and Javi was crouched down under the water with Olivia standing on his shoulders and abruptly rose to launch the girl into the air, hearing her laughing and the loud splash when she cannon-balled into the saltwater.
In your mind, you imagined Javi with little kids who looked so much like him that he'd splash and play in the water with, making your heart squeeze.
It wasn't much longer when the four of them returned to where you were sitting, each getting water bottles from the cooler, Stevie a sippy cup. Your fiancé kissed your head, then plopped down on a towel beside you, chugging his drink and lying back, his hand reaching up to hold your thigh.
Looking over, he had his other arm over his eyes.
"Having fun, babe?" you asked.
"Yeah."
"Do you want your sunglasses?"
"I don't wanna move."
"I can go grab them."
"I don't want you to move."
You smiled, lacing your fingers with his on your leg.
"I'll stay right here."
Steve was in a chair beside his wife with Stevie perched on his leg; Olivia was sitting on a towel in front of them, the children snacking on sliced watermelon.
"You two want any snacks?" Connie asked you.
"I could go for some watermelon. Javi?"
"Sounds good," he said, groaning as he moved to sit up, and you took the two pieces offered to you, passing one to him.
It was chilled, seedless, and juicy; Javi’s hair was sticking wetly to his forehead, seeing the cute little pudge of his belly, and his hand still in yours while the other held the slice as he ate it, pink juice dripping from his plush lips down his chin.
Truly, it was ridiculous that the most mundane things he did managed to turn you on.
He finished eating, and you let go of his palm to take his chin between your fingers, turning his head your way—his big eyes were curious, and you were unsure of what possessed you to lean down and lick the watermelon’s juices from his skin and lips that turned up into a smile.
He caught your mouth with his, dropping the fruit’s rind to cup the back of your head and pull you closer to deepen the kiss.
“Oh, come on!” Steve shouted. “There are children here.”
You broke apart, Javi’s forehead resting against yours as he sighed.
“I'm gonna kick his ass," he hissed, "if he keeps interrupting us."
"You're not gonna kick his ass," you whispered back.
He sighed again in defeat.
"Fine." He pulled back. "All we were doing was kissing," he said loud enough for Steve to hear.
"Yeah, inappropriate kissing," Steve replied. "If they wouldn't see it in a Disney movie, it's inappropriate."
"Jesus Christ," Javi breathed. "That won't be a rule in our house—I'll kiss you however I want."
You stroked his smooth cheek. "Yes, you will," you said, kissing the tip of his nose.
You went back to eating your watermelon, and the man you were going to marry got up from his towel to throw away what was left of his fruit and get his aviators.
It was cute watching Stevie hold up his little arms toward Javi and excitedly repeating, "Tio!" until your fiancé picked him up, taking him quickly into his arms.
"You wanna go play in the sand, bud?" he asked the toddler.
"Yes!"
"I want to play in the sand, too!" Olivia said.
"Okay, Tesorito (little treasure)," he replied, facing her. "Can you grab the bag with sand castle stuff, please?"
"Yeah," she answered, jumping up and moving to grab a tote bag with what looked to have a plastic bucket, tiny shovel, and sand castle molds.
You watched them head closer to the water, staying a little away from the tide, moving up the sand, Javi sitting down and getting into the bag. You couldn't hear what he was saying, but it looked like he asked Olivia to fill the bucket with water since she grabbed it and took off in a sprint to the ocean, Stevie taking the little red shovel to start digging.
Connie had passed Nate to Steve while she drank a can of soda.
"It's crazy to me that man never thought he deserved to be a father," you mused.
"Javi's his own worst enemy," Steve said. "For as long as I've known him, he's let his past mistakes eat away at him and has had the biggest chip on his shoulder. It's good he's finally seeing he deserves to be happy."
"It wasn't easy convincing him of that…"
Steve covered Nate's ears as he smiled at you. "I can imagine—Javi's a real stubborn asshole. He gets something in his head, and good luck convincing him otherwise."
"He's a cute stubborn asshole, though, and I love him a lot."
"We know," Connie said, patting your arm and smiling. "It's obvious how much you both love each other, and we're happy he has you—Steve was right yesterday when he said our kids need more cousins, and just imagine the fun we'd have. We could take trips to Disney and other places."
The thought of Javier walking around Disney World wearing a pair of Mickey ears and carrying around your child made you smile big enough to make your cheeks hurt.
"Okay," you started. "In the future, what are the odds I can convince Javi to wear a Disney-themed button-up and Mickey ears?"
Steve had moved his hands away from Nate's head.
"Oh," he said. "If you're the one asking? He'll do it. He'll pretend like he hates it, but I think he'd love it."
"I think you're right, Steve," you replied.
There was something soothing about the beach—maybe it was the warmth or the rhythmic drone of the swells crashing toward shore. All you knew was it had a relaxing effect on you and calmed your busy mind. Not to mention how beautiful it was to see the ocean stretching out to the horizon; the sheer magnitude of it was breathtaking.
Since you were probably Stevie's age, maybe even younger, you loved going to the coast. It explained your love for aquariums, your fascination with sea life, and why The Little Mermaid was your favorite Disney movie—you loved the ocean. If your parents hadn't put it in your head early on that you were destined to be a doctor, and you didn’t end up falling in love with nursing, odds are you probably would've become a marine biologist.
Javier was with the two older Murphy children building an impressive sandcastle and doing his best to keep the three-year-old from wrecking the entire thing—which was like trying to wrangle a drunk person who’s lost their motor skills and wanted to touch everything.
You'd gotten up from your chair to join them, and your betrothed greeted you with a beaming smile and a pat to the spot beside him that you sat down in. From talking to Javi and Olivia, she was the mastermind with a vision for how she wanted it to look, and he was walking her through what she needed to do to bring it to life while also making sure Stevie felt involved but not letting the toddler roam free—a true testament to Javi, in regards to children, having the patience of a saint.
The sandcastle had fortress walls connected by four towers, and in the center of them, it rose up to look like a castle, topped with three pointed spires, the center one the tallest. Olivia added details of windows and doors with a twig to really make it pop. Honestly, it was impressive.
"Are you going to put in a moat?" you asked.
The girl had a serious look on her face. "That's a good idea," she answered, quickly getting up to her feet and grabbing the nearby bucket. "You guys start digging. I'm going to go get water!"
"Aye, aye, Captain," you replied, using your hand to start scooping out sand from around the perimeter.
"Use your shovel, buddy," Javi said gently to the three-year-old, helping him dig with his tiny red plastic shovel.
"We're helping Sissy!" Stevie excitedly exclaimed.
Your fiancé was smiling softly. "Yeah, we are. You're doing a really good job."
"I'm thirsty," the little one said. "Can I have juice, pleeeaaassseee?"
"Let's go ask your mom." Javi looked over at you, and you nodded at him with a smile, saying that you were okay to stay behind and help Olivia. He got up, and Stevie had to raise his hand high for Javi to hold it as they walked to his parents.
Olivia arrived with a bucket of water, and most of the moat had been dug out, the two of you finishing it fast. She dumped the water into it to harden the sand, then went and got another pale and another to fill it.
"It's very impressive," you told her as she stood beside you, both admiring it.
"Thank you!” Her head turned to meet your eyes. “Now I'm hungry."
“Hi hungry, I’m Cielito.”
“Ugh.” She made a face. “That’s something my dad would say, and Cielito isn’t your real name.”
You smiled. “Well, your tío seems to think it is. He never calls me by my real name.” Which was kind of true. The only time your actual name passed through his lips was when he was moaning it, and that was for you to know and no one else.
She was clearly wracking her brain to see if you were telling the truth. “Tío does only call you Cielito or his amor (love),” she finally said. “Yuck.” She had a disgusted expression.
You giggled. “I told you. Now, let’s get you a snack. You spent all that time building this masterpiece; you deserve one.”

Javier was sitting on a towel in the sun with his long legs out in front of him, having just finished a meat and cheese sandwich on white bread Connie had given him and everyone else from the cooler. Uncapping his cold plastic water bottle, he brought it to his mouth, relishing the cool liquid traveling down his throat as he chugged.
This wasn’t the first time he’d visited the beach with his Cielito.
Back in August, Javier had surprised her with a weekend away to Corpus Christi as his way of showing his appreciation for all she’d done when he started his job at the Sheriff’s office—and he needed to do something special for her after she finally let him fuck her ass.
He’d gotten them a nice room at a beachfront hotel with a private balcony—the first night, while the moon was glowing over the ocean, they’d been a bit tipsy after dinner, and he fucked her against the railing. And, he had to say, it was pretty romantic.
They spent the majority of that Saturday at a beach he used to go to as a teenager that wasn’t overrun with tourists and partying college kids. It was a place where he was comfortable messing around with her in the water and out of sight of the other beachgoers and had no qualms feeling each other up when they laid under the sun together.
He knew how much she loved sushi and took her to an expensive restaurant that served it for dinner that night.
On their last day, they explored the city before heading home.
It was a great weekend.
She loved it.
A lot.
So much so she let him fuck her ass the following weekend.
This trip was different.
They were here with his best friend's family and had to keep things tame—he couldn't freely touch her no matter how much his fingers itched to feel the swell of her ass in that swimsuit; the way he wanted to kiss her was off-limits, too, according to Steve, and it was driving him crazy that he couldn’t wrap himself around her and get as close to her as possible with his tongue in her mouth.
He knew Steve was a bit of a prude and judgmental about his sex life, but his friend was being a goddamn Puritan with a righteous stick up his ass. It had Javier beginning to think his holier-than-thou attitude had little to do with morals and was actually just 100% pure, unadulterated jealousy—his conclusion: Steve needed to get laid. And even though his best friend was being a grade-A dick with his rules and trying to sabotage Javier from getting to fuck, he wanted his friend to get some and was going to talk to his fiancée about them babysitting the kids so Steve and Connie could have a date night.
Basically, Steve needed to chill the fuck out, and Javier was going to figure out how to make that happen because, on a day like today, Cielito would fondly call him clingy with how he needed to be near her and constantly touching some part of her body—like the back of his freehand currently pressed against the side of her thigh. Feeling her skin on his soothed something deep inside him and made him feel less restless—it grounded him. It calmed him. It was better for his nerves than a glass of top-shelf whiskey. They'd make millions if they could manufacture the way he felt just from simply touching and being close to her.
And because he had to watch himself with everyone around, he was keeping some, not a lot, but some distance with her so he didn't fuck up.
It felt like when he'd tried quitting smoking cold turkey and the overwhelming craving for nicotine; how he needed it more than anything, and was the only thing he could think about, consuming his every thought. She was right there, sitting criss-cross on the towel next to him, eating her sandwich; the woman he loved, the woman he was going to marry, have children with, and spend the rest of his life with. So close, so beautiful, with so much skin on display, and he wasn’t allowed to rub his hands all over her body.
This was torture.
He’d finished drinking, and his frustration had his jaw clenching and his fist crushing the empty plastic water bottle.
What Connie was doing caught his attention as she put more sunscreen on Olivia, who was standing before her.
"Can I borrow that when you're done, Con?" he found himself asking all of a sudden, dropping the mangled plastic next to him in the sand.
She held the lotion in one hand, rubbing it in on her daughter’s face with the other.
"Sure thing," she replied, closing the lid and tossing it his way, which he caught easily.
"Thanks."
He moved onto his knees, ignoring the ache while shuffling onto the other towel beside his to get behind Cielito. He snapped open the cap, pouring a generous amount into his palm, shutting the lid and setting it down within reach, rubbing his hands together to spread the lotion on them. His eyes were on the back of her neck, and he was like a moth to a flame as his head dipped to kiss the side of it right behind her ear.
She hummed in the back of her throat, her arm coming up to push her fingers into his hair since she'd finished eating.
"Hey, handsome," she purred. "I was wondering when you'd find a way to get your hands on me without causing Steve to clutch his pearls."
Her nails softly scraped against his scalp, and it made him shiver.
"You've noticed how fucking ridiculous he is, too?" he whispered against the shell of her ear.
"Babe, he went to absurdly great lengths to keep you from boning in the guest bed; he just about goes into hysterics if we do anything more than peck each other on the lips or if he sees your hands wander," she said, for only him to hear. "Yeah, I've noticed how ridiculous he's being, and I'd ask if this is normal behavior for him, but I know I'm the first girlfriend you've brought for a visit, and you probably don't know."
"I knew he was vanilla, and he's been judgmental of my... history. He, uh, forbade me from bringing girls back to the house when I'd stay with them—I wouldn't do that in the first place, and this last time in Miami after quitting the DEA, I was giving celibacy a try."
"Wait," she quietly asked, "was I...?"
He smiled. "The gorgeous woman, who was too tempting, shattered my resolve and ended my, honestly, really fucking impressive amount of time as a celibate? Yeah, you are."
They were having the conversation low enough that no one else could hear them.
"This is doing wonders for my self-esteem."
He kissed her neck. "Good." The temptation was too much, and he slid his hands along her arms, rubbing the sunscreen into her skin, feeling the tension leave his body.
"So, was Steve super annoying when you stayed here after getting fired and weren't celibate...?"
The only reason she was asking that was because she wanted to know what his sex life had been like, and that made him curious, seeing as she'd never paid his past dalliances much mind.
"He wasn't any more annoying than usual. You know, I don't talk about that shit unless someone asks, or I'm being an asshole, and Steve never asked. But you don't care about how he was—ask me what you really want to know."
He got more lotion on his hands and started working on her neck and shoulders.
"I want to know, but I also don't want to know."
His eyebrows pulled together, and his palms slowed.
"Why wouldn't you wanna know?"
"Because, um, it's dumb and makes zero sense, and I know it all happened a long time ago, and I swear I'm not possessive, but you're mine."
Hearing her say it had sparks dancing down his spine.
"I am yours, and no one before you matters.” He kissed her hair. “I know it's shitty, but if they weren't an informant and I only slept with them once, I probably don't even remember their name. Now you—" He poured more sunscreen onto his hands and reached around to rub her thighs. “—I couldn't stop thinking about you after the first night, and there was no way in hell I was forgetting your name, that cute yellow sundress you wore or those beautiful eyes that saw me for me and not the town fuck up, a joke of a hero, or a quick fuck.” His hands paused. “I mean, I could tell you found me attractive, and I thought you were going to start drooling when you first spotted me at the bar, but you were never interested in me for just my looks, and I liked that."
Her tone was somber. “It always hurts my heart how lonely you were before we met.”
“And the fact you even give a shit is one of the reasons why I’m marrying you.”
“I love you.” Her head turned, and her upper body twisted so he could lean in at an awkward angle to kiss her lips.
"I love you, too,” he said into her mouth. They separated after a second, and he whispered in her ear, “No one compares to you in bed—you’re hands down the best lay I’ve ever had, and you’ve got me so fucking whipped with your perfect pussy, I’ll do anything for you—fucking anything.”
“Why is that so romantic? You know I’d do anything for you, too? You bring out my inner Gomez Addams—I’d fight for you, I’d die for you, I’d kill for you, and I’d choose you over anyone else in the entire world.”
Everything she said was true, and it had energy thrumming in his veins and happiness overtaking every cell in his body.
“I know, mi amor (my love). It's the same for me. You're the most important person in my life." His hands were rubbing all over her thighs, and he nuzzled into her neck. "Is the insecurity gone?"
"Yes, but I have a question."
"Yeah?"
"When you were here, where did you pick up chicks?"
"A bar, away from where the college kids and spring breakers go, that was more low key."
"That definitely sounds like your kind of place."
He moved, taking the bottle of lotion with him as he walked on his knees to in front of her crisscrossed legs, getting more sunscreen on his hands and extending one of her arms that he massaged it into.
They were still whispering so the others wouldn't hear them. "I think I know why Steve's being so fucking obnoxious." He had her hand in his, rubbing each of her fingers.
"Because he needs to get laid?"
His head popped up to look into her dark, lensed-covered eyes. "How'd you know?"
"He smells of jealousy, and Connie was saying she hasn't had a proper dicking down in a while."
"Would you be mad if we spent tonight watching the kids so they can have a date night?"
Speaking of the children, the two tiniest Murphys had been put down for a nap on a blanket under the umbrella.
She smiled. "Javi, baby, I'm two steps ahead of you. I've already planned it out with Connie. I'm paying for a babysitter, and the four of us are going out."
Don’t get Javier wrong, he loved babysitting the Murphy children and had done it so many times he’d lost count and was more than willing to do it again tonight. Still, he’d much rather go out with his fiancée and best friends and didn’t want to turn down the chance to do so, not when it was something so rare; he was pretty sure the last time he went to a bar with both Steve and Connie, all of them were still living in Colombia and Olivia hadn’t been born yet. Usually, it was just Steve and him having a couple of drinks and shooting the shit while Connie stayed at home with the kids. Or it was Javier watching the kids so their parents could have a date night.
“You’re perfect, and I don’t know how I got you to fall in love with me.”
He got more lotion on his hands and started working on her other arm.
“Oh, stop that.” Her free hand swatted away his words. “And I fell in love with you because you’re a goddamn catch.” Her fingers were smaller than his as he massaged sunscreen into them.
“Hard to believe I’m a catch,” he said and kept talking, even though her mouth opened to say something, “But, I’m not gonna argue with you since I know you meant what you said.”
“Kiss me.”
Smiling, he leaned forward and pecked her on the lips.
She was frowning when he pulled back.
“Javier, kiss me.”
“Steve will yell at us.”
“Steve can kick rocks—I wanna make out with my husband-to-be. Now kiss me." She puckered her lips, and he chuckled.
He'd let go of her hand, and this time, when he kissed her, she grabbed his face and made him follow her as she laid back, her legs uncrossing for him to rest his hips in the crux of her thighs while he was on top of her, kissing every last bit of air from her lungs. His arm beside her head held up his weight, his tongue plundering her mouth, the sun's hot rays beaming down against his bare back.
Javier loved moments like this where she encompassed his every sense, and the world fell away to leave only her—she was all he could smell, all he could taste, all he could feel, her breaths were all he could hear, and if he opened his eyes she was all he could see. It was all her, and nothing else mattered.
She was his everything and forever.
Ice cold water landed on his spine, Javier's body tensing at the sudden chill, his surprised, 'Fuck!' muffled with his mouth on hers.
Steve was laughing as he screwed the cap on the empty water bottle, anger swelling inside Javier to the point he thought he might explode.
He was scrambling onto his feet, ignoring his fiancée shouting, "Javi, no!" All he saw was red, and the moment he stood, facing his asshole of a best friend, and noticed the ground behind him was clear and the children weren't close, Javier launched himself at the other man, completely catching Steve off guard. A wheeze sounded as his shoulder rammed into his friend's stomach, followed by a pained grunt when Javier tackled him to the ground onto his ass.
In his rage, he failed to remember a very important fact: Steve Murphy wrestled in high school and was the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic State Wrestling Champion back in '72.
The water bottle was long forgotten, Steve somehow managing to twist out from under him with Javier's arm getting put behind his back and shoved face-first into the sand.
"You really wanna do this, Jav?" the blonde man panted.
He did, and he was angry enough, thinking that with strength and weight in his corner, he stood a chance.
Tumblr media
Truthfully, Javi could take a lot of shit, and it required an astronomical amount of it to make him snap. In the time you’d been together, you could only think of one other time when he lost his cool: Stechner. That weasley fucker deserved the broken nose he had to get repaired at your hospital’s emergency room and the lack of good bedside manner from the nurses in that unit—word had traveled fast to watch out for the asshole, thanks to Robyn, and if there’s one thing you don’t do, it’s fuck with nurses.
There was the bullshit with Lorraine he had to put up with, and Tammy, the girl at the farmers market who dared to hit on him with you there that pissed him off; how insanely annoyed and jealous he got at all of the guys who wouldn’t leave you alone in San Antonio, and your fight when he told you he loved you.
Then you had Steve, who you’d been staying with for going on two days, poking the bear, if you will, and repeatedly doing things to annoy your fiancé until he finally reached his breaking point. The only reason you weren’t freaking out was that neither man had thrown a punch—they weren’t looking to cause the other any outright harm or too much pain; it was them letting off some steam.
Now, here you were watching.
It wasn't that you thought Javi couldn't take Steve in a fight. You just didn't see how he could get out of the position his friend pinned him in—he was fucked, and his only choice would be to tap out.
Your eyes rounded when he seemed to leverage his weight to roll them and somehow break the hold—it was pretty impressive, especially since his aviators had managed to stay on his gorgeous face.
The two men were grappling now, neither wanting to give in.
You got up from the towel, dusting your legs off to sit in the chair beside Connie's, the other woman over at the cooler. Her two sons were asleep on a blanket under the umbrella's shade, Olivia sitting in the seat previously occupied by her father, watching the wrestling match with fascination and mindlessly eating a bag of Goldfish like it was popcorn.
Connie returned with two bottles of beer, handing you one as she sat next to you.
"Thanks—should we break this up?" you asked, unscrewing the cap and taking a long drink.
They were tussling on the ground, and you couldn't tell who was winning with how they were rolling around.
"We should let them get it out of their systems," she replied. "I know Steve hasn't been easy, and it's better than Javi getting fed up and punching him."
You looked at her. "Has he punched him before?"
She met your eyes, her sunglasses on. "No." She shook her head. "But he's gotten real close. Steve knows just how to push his buttons. This time around, though, you're here, and Javier's very protective, so he's not putting up with Steve's crap as well as he usually does."
You frowned. "I'm sorry I'm causing problems."
"There's nothing to be sorry for." She patted your knee. "They'll fight this out and be so tired and sore, they won't have the energy to do it again."
Javi had Steve in a headlock, seeing the muscles in his arm and naked back flexed, his skin shiny with sweat and dusted with sand from tumbling around in it—his sunglasses were defying all odds by staying on his face, now just a little crooked.
"You're obviously rooting for Steve," you stated, taking a swig of beer.
Connie had just finished taking a drink. "I'm required to since I'm married to him."
"And if you weren't married?"
Her gaze was on yours. "I'd root for the underdog. Steve was a pretty good wrestler back in high school, and he'll tell you all about it." She rolled her eyes. "We have all his trophies and medals in a box somewhere because I will not have him displaying the ugly things in our living room. Anyways, he knows Javi swam, but where he's from, all that matters is wrestling and football, so he doesn't consider swimming a real sport—as I've told you, Steve knows how to push Javier's buttons, and he likes to tell him bowling requires actual skill and is more of a sport than Javi splashing around in water. So, I'd love to see a swimmer kick his butt, but that’s our secret."  She winked, and you smiled.
Your eyes went to the old partners, seeing your fiancé was down on his stomach with Steve half on top of him, Javi's bicep in the bend of his elbow as he pulled it back in a lock to try and immobilize him. Perspiration was dripping down their faces, and you had no idea what the next play would be since your betrothed had a lot of surprises up his sleeve.
"I would love to see the swimmer kick his butt, too,” you said.  “It's about time Steve gets knocked down a peg."
At that second, Javi got his knees under him and twisted, flinging the blonde man off of him.
"Yes!" you cheered. "Get him, babe!"
"Get him, tío!" Olivia shouted. "Beat him up! Do you think he’d really hurt Dad?” she asked her mom.
“No, baby," Connie answered. "Your father will be fine. They’re just roughhousing like a couple of giant kids."
Her dad was on his back, Javi straddling his stomach and leaning forward to trap Steve's bent arm under his chest. You knew the man you were marrying had to know how to fight without a gun or weapon, as you imagined he would've been trained when he first joined the DEA on all sorts of ways to protect himself.
What you didn’t expect was his next move, which was executed so smoothly it made you gasp.
Turning his body across Steve’s torso, his ass and feet were on the ground, knees bent, squeezing his heels against the other man’s side to hold him still while yanking Steve’s arm to his chest from up between his legs and pulling it with him as he sat back, causing the appendage to go uncomfortably straight—and if he went back any further you knew, it’d break.
It looked painful.
"I give!" Steve said through heavy breaths, his free hand hitting Javi's thigh. "I give!"

His sunglasses were sitting lopsided on his nose, his lungs heaving and making him pant as relief washed over him that Steve finally tapped out.
He let go of his friend's arm immediately and moved off of him to lie in the sand with his feet going the opposite way than Steve's to catch his breath.
He was too tired to be happy he won.
Javier had gotten up at ungodly hours the last two mornings, and for him to think it'd been too early was saying something since he usually was up before the sun rose, and his fiancée woke almost every day. Add in traveling the day before, spending a couple of hours fucking in a hotel today, playing at the beach, and now finishing whatever the fuck Steve and he just did (Was it fighting? A brawl? A battle for dominance? Javier taking out his anger on the subject of it?), exhausted, didn't correctly describe the bone-deep, having-to-fight-to-keep-his-eyes-open tiredness he was overcome with.
The sound of footsteps sinking in the sand was heard coming in their direction.
"Are you okay, Dad?" Olivia asked his friend.
Javier's head lifted to see the girl kneeling beside her father and lowered it again.
"I'm fine, baby girl," Steve answered. "Your tío—now Olivia, your brothers are asleep and can’t hear what I’m about to say, so you better not make me put money in the swear jar when we get home—but your tío is a real sonofabitch and a cheating asshole for using his goddamn Brazilian mumbo jumbo bullshit that’s fucking illegal to do in real wrestling matches.”
Steve didn’t care for martial arts, especially the ones that allowed choking and locking joints as valid ways to make opponents submit.
“I didn’t realize we were having a regulation match, Steve,” Javi said. “You got a spare singlet? I left mine in the high school locker room back in Laredo ‘cause I never—mi tesorito (my little treasure),” he said to Olivia. “If your dad doesn’t have to put change in the swear jar, I don’t either.” He went back to talking to Steve, “I left mine in the high school locker room back in Laredo ‘cause I never wore that shit. Now, stop being a sore fucking loser. You’re setting a bad example for your child.”
“I’m sorry, Olivia,” Steve apologized. “I shouldn’t have said all that and accepted my loss with more grace. Losing never means you’re a failure. It’s a chance to learn from your mistakes and do better next time. You got that, kiddo?”
“Yes, Daddy.”
“Good.”
Javier's head was back to resting in the sand, fixing his aviators, and closing his eyes—which was a mistake, feeling himself start to doze.
He groaned as he sat up and moved to stand, holding out his hand for Steve to take. The other man let Javier help him to his feet.
Steve and Olivia headed toward the rest of their family as Javier wiped the remnants of the beach off of his body to remove whatever of it he could.
His eyes found Cielito's the moment he looked forward, and it made him smile, his feet moving in her direction without him having to tell them. It seemed she was drinking the rest of her beer in one go, her throat bobbing with each swallow.
His attention moved to her breasts covered by the swimsuit top, his tongue swiping along his bottom lip at the thought of how easy it'd be to pull it down to play with them—they'd get bigger when she was pregnant, and she might choose to breastfeed... a hot spike of arousal shot through him and it caught him so off guard, he stumbled wondering why the fuck it turned him on thinking about sucking on her tits while she was lactating.
They didn't keep secrets from each other, and he wouldn't call them secrets; there were just things that turned Javier on that he was too ashamed to tell her about—like how it made him hard to sniff her panties after she'd worn them all day; she loved that he'd taken over doing their laundry and had no idea it was him being a fucking pervert, smelling her clothes.
And now she couldn't find out he wanted to taste her milk because he was also apparently a freak.
He must've had a look on his face because when her beer bottle lowered, he was met with a concerned expression. She sat the empty drink down in the sand and got out of her chair to have them chest to chest with barely a second passing.
"What's wrong?" she asked, framing his face with her hands.
His head turned to kiss the center of her palm while he grabbed onto her hips. "Nothing's wrong," came his muffled response. "I'm just tired."
Her other hand swept his bangs off his forehead. "You wanna take a nap? Connie's gonna go play in the water with Olivia and Stevie, who just woke up, while Steve watches Nate sleep. We can rest for a bit—it's honestly surprising you're even still awake."
"Barely."
"Then it's naptime, babycakes." She smiled and grabbed one of his hands, pulling him over to their towels on the ground, letting go of him to fix the terry cloth and leaving no space between them. She got down on one and tugged him to join her, Javier going immediately to lie beside her on his side, removing his sunglasses, her doing the same, with his arm going under his head and bringing her front to meet his, tucking her under his chin.
He kissed her hair.
Her finger was drawing circles on his pec, and he was so relaxed and content he felt boneless.
"I'm not saying I condone you attacking Steve," she said. "Even if we both know he had it coming. I will say it was very sexy of you to kick his ass."
"You're not mad at me?"
She didn't seem angry, but then again, he hadn't listened when she tried to stop him from going after his friend.
"Nah," she answered. "It wasn't a try-to-do-as-much-damage-to-the-other-person-as-possible fight and was more a let-me-show-you-I-can-kick-your-ass fight—basically, you were showing off and taking your anger out on him."
"How was I showing off?"
"Well, let's start with the fact you decided to wrestle a wrestler and all those flashy moves—especially the last one. Definitely showing off."
"Was just trying not to have my ass handed to me." He yawned, cuddling closer to her.
"Uh-huh. Sure, Javi."
"Knew I had a chance of beating him."
"Your final move was fucking brutal. You know you could break someone's arm like that?"
"In real combat, you do break their arm."
"Jesus."
His eyelids were heavy, his words slurring a little.
“When I got my assignment to Colombia, I looked into what I was getting myself into. I had the information the DEA gave me, but I wanted in-depth shit about how people fought down there, like preferred weapons and fighting styles.” He yawned again, speaking through it, “I found out about this Brazilian self-defense martial art—” His tone went back to normal. “—called jiu-jitsu and took some classes while stateside so I wouldn't be completely fucked—has come in handy a few times, but the cartels preferred guns.”
"Of course, guns. Where's the finesse, though? The skill? Guns are so boring and loud, I wanna see people actually fight."
He smiled.
"Shooting a gun isn't as easy as it looks."
He was the best shot in basic training, all thanks to the fact he was born and raised in Texas on a ranch and was taught early on how to properly handle firearms—he’d do target practice with the empty cans his mother would save for him while she was cooking; when he was older, he’d go out with his father and cousins to hunt coyotes who threatened their cattle.
"You aim and squeeze a trigger; how hard can it be?" she asked.
"If you'd let me teach you, you'd know—we can do targets out at Pop's."
"No, thank you. My hands are for healing, not killing."
He breathed out a sigh.
This was something they'd argued about before, and he didn't have the energy to fight with her right now.
Javier wanted her to know how to use the gun he kept locked up under their bed in case of an emergency—it would give him peace of mind to know if he wasn't home, she could protect herself. She didn't know this, but since starting his new job consulting, he'd gotten a surprising amount of offers to speak at events and universities on his expertise and time with the DEA. He was shocked by how much they wanted to pay him to do forty-five-minute to an-hour talks, and he was willing to do them, but it'd mean going out of town for days at a time, and he'd worry too much about something happening to his fiancée while he was gone.
Stechner shook him up with his dossier on her, and Javier wouldn't put it past the bastard to do something if he was out of town. This was why she needed to know how to defend herself and why it was such a point of contention for him—he was scared.
He couldn't lose her; it'd ruin him, and if something happened to her because of his past, there would be no coming back from it. He loved her more than anything, and if she wouldn't protect herself, he was going to do it for her until the day he died.
"Go to sleep, baby," she whispered, softly kissing his chest.
His words came out mumbled. "I-love-you."
"I love you, too."
The steady crash of the ocean waves, the comfort of holding the woman he loved in his arms, and the warmth radiating from the sun lulled him to the point that his consciousness was slipping free, falling into sleep.
—★—
He didn't know how long he slept.
He did know he woke up because a small, wet body collided with his back.
They were leaning over him, a tiny hand stroking his cheek, speaking quietly, copying how their parents always woke them up, "Wake up, tío. It's time for you to go bye-bye." It was cute and mildly threatening. "You gotta get up, tío."
His wif-fiancée was still snuggled in his arms.
"Where am I going?" his sleepy voice asked.
"Home."
"To my house? You want me to go home?"
"No! MY house. I don't want you to leave!" Stevie sounded on the verge of tears, and Javier felt terrible.
He turned his head and moved his arm behind the child to rub comforting circles into his back.
"Hey, mi principito (my little prince)," he said softly. "I'm not leaving yet, bud. I'll go back to your house. Are we done playing at the beach?"
The boy nodded, his hat flopping with the motion. "I wanna go home. I miss Moose."
Moose was his floppy-eared, stuffed dog.
"Yeah? Did you wake me up so I can take you and your Sissy home?"
"Yes, it's time to say bye-bye to the ocean."
"Okay, principito (little prince). We'll say bye-bye to the ocean, and I'll take you home to Moose."
The child smiled and hugged his neck, choking him a little.
"Thank you, tío!"
"You're welcome."
Stevie let go of him and ran around toward the rest of his family, Javier seeing they were packing up.
He looked down to see Cielito was still sleeping. He slid his fingers along her cheek, whispering, "Wake up, baby. It's time for us to go bye-bye."
"Why is that vaguely threatening?" her tired voice asked. "We might be at the beach, but I am not gonna be sleeping with the fishes, thank you very much."
"That's fucking dark."
Her head tilted up to look at him with squinted eyes from the light.
"Too much?"
After what he was thinking about before he passed out?
"Today? Yes."
She frowned. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was in my head earlier."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not today or while we're on this trip. It's something for when we're home." Because it will end up being a fight, and they'll need the privacy of their own space to have it out and make up by fucking.
"Okay. Guess it's time to get up."
With that, they were getting up and helping their friends pack everything and clean the sand off the children and themselves. Only a little later, they were in their vehicles and hitting the road.

When Connie said she'd been too busy with work and taking care of her kids to decorate for Christmas, it saddened you because Javi had told you once that when they all still lived down in Colombia, she was one of those people who decorated the day after Thanksgiving. Which wasn't a bad thing, and you completely understood since a Christmas tree was put up in your living room the weekend after Turkey Day—you were also one of those people who loved decorating the first chance they had, and it broke your heart a fellow enthusiast was missing out on something they loved doing.
So, after getting back to the Murphys and washing away the beach in the shower like everybody else, you asked Javi to keep the children busy while you helped Connie and Steve get out her big plastic storage totes with the decorations and the giant box with the artificial tree.
The Christmas tree went up first in the sitting room at the front of the house in a spot between the couch and dining room, and for a fake tree, it looked pretty real with how full the limbs were.
You helped her string it with colorful lights, and once the red skirt was put down at the base, Connie called for Javi to bring in the kids to help her decorate with ornaments from an open, almost full bin.
This seemed like an intimate family moment with Christmas music softly floating in from the room past the dining room, Connie holding her one-year-old who was looking at the pretty lights in wonder and speaking nonsense, Olivia and Steve laughing about something you didn't catch as they grabbed ornaments out of the container to hang on the tree with Stevie.
It was the perfect picture of a happy family, and it made you yearn so hard to one day have the same thing, your chest squeezed tight.
What made your eyes start to water was the realization that you were going to have something like this—this was a taste of your future and what you had to look forward to.
A large palm wrapped around yours, and your head turned to see Javi beside you. He nodded once toward the front door and quietly led you out of it so as not to disturb the family.
He was in jeans and a pastel pink button-up that matched the color of the t-shirt you were wearing with large, thin, teal letters across your chest spelling out, 'Oregon.' It was something you picked up on a visit to the rainy state years ago.
He faced you, wrapping you up in his arms once you were outside on their porch, that was nothing more than slightly raised pavement under an outcropping of the roof.
"You okay, Cielito?" His face was pressed into the side of your head.
"Yeah. I'm great." He tightened his arms around you a little.
His lips were close to your ear, softly rasping, "I was thinking about what our Christmas could look like next year. We could be in our new house. It could be our first Christmas with a baby, or you'd be pregnant at least. But what I know for sure is we'll be together, we'll be married, and we'll be so fucking happy."
Tears were brimming in your eyes, moving your head to meet his gaze, smiling.
"We will, Javi. We'll be so fucking happy, and we'll be a family."
His hand cupped your cheek as he softly smiled.
"You know we're already a family? You, me, Pop. We're a family, and mi mamá is gonna watch, wherever she is, as it grows, and I know she'll be so happy." He made sure your eyes were on his. "Cielito, mi amor (my love), I don't want you to think that we become a family when we get married—you don't need my last name to be family, and we've been one for a long fucking time now, at least to Pop and I, we have."
There was a lump in your throat, and your eyes burned with unshed tears.
For as long as you could remember, you'd always felt out of place within your family. Your brother got all of your parents' attention, your cousins all shined with their 4.0 GPAs, attendance to the top schools in the nation, and on your father's side, graduating with medical degrees and going right into internships at the best teaching hospitals. And there was you, the one who went to a state school to save on tuition; you did get good grades, but it was for a degree that wasn't flashy enough.
There wasn’t a time you felt good enough or loved by your immediate family.
All of this meant that you'd never had a family like Javi or the Murphys. There was never any warmth or unconditional love for you. At least there wasn't until this man in front of you came into your life. He gave you a family with him: his dad, his tías, tíos, and primos (aunts, uncles, and cousins). They all welcomed you with open arms and open hearts, treating you like you'd been a part of the family for years and weren't a stranger. Knowing Javi thought you were already a family made you so happy you struggled to keep yourself from crying.
It wasn't blood that made a family. It was love; pure, unconditional love.
"Thank you," your voice was small.
His eyes got a little bigger. "For what, baby?"
"Loving me and giving me a family, at least one that cares about me." You could see how sad it made him to hear that. "And," you continued, "wanting to have tiny Peñas with me, so I'll have even more family to love and love me.” You took in a breath. “This is the first time I'm saying this out loud, but I've felt so fucking alone for I don't even know how long. I tried to drown it out by working—which didn't work. And it led to me moving to Laredo where I’d have a better work/life balance, and by fucking serendipity, I met you my second week there." Tears started falling down your cheeks. "I met my soulmate in the produce section of an H-E-B and absolutely cannot look at tomatoes anymore without remembering how small they look in your enormous mitts." There was a slight shift of his head, and you knew there was a question on his mind. "Yes, Javier, I get a little horny looking at tomatoes now because they make me think about your hands. Are you happy? I get turned on by a fucking vegetable."
"Strawberries."
Your eyebrows creased. "What?"
He was looking at you seriously. "Strawberries turn me on."
Your brow lifted. "The time with the whipped cream?"
He smiled. "And I got your come all over a strawberry and ate it? Yeah, can't look at them without getting half-hard."
"That makes me feel so much better. I'm not the only weirdo." He grimaced for a split second.
"No... You're not..."
His mouth was suddenly on yours, kissing you tenderly, a hand caressing your cheek while the other slipped into the back pocket of your jean shorts.
There happened to be another reason he'd brought you outside, you came to find out after making out for a few minutes. One of Connie's Christmas totes was out there with lights for the house, the long green wires dotted with multi-colored glass bulbs.
Javi procured a metal ladder from god only knew where, and you wondered how exactly the lights were going to be hung—they had a tiled roof that overhung a little over the front and back of the house, and there weren't any wooden edges or gutters that could be used.
Another thing about their roof was it was a tad steep, yet you watched as Javi climbed up the metal rungs of the ladder with a string of lights in his hand to get up onto the tiles and, to your absolute horror, laid down on his belly to lean over the edge.
This was how you found out there were nails in the home's exterior wall for the sole purpose of Christmas lights, and your dumbass of a fiancé was choosing the most dangerous way to put them up.
You didn't want to spook him, so you whispered harshly.
"Javier, why are you doing it like that? Use the ladder."
His voice was strained from how he was positioned. "I hate going up and down and moving it, when doing it like this, I just have to move over."
"You're gonna fall and crack your head open."
"I've done this before. I'll be fine."
Your arms crossed over your chest, hmphing.
"Well, I don't like it."
His head tilted to look at you.
"We should make sure it's not this fucking hard to put up lights on our house. Remind me to check the plans when we get home." The draft plans for the house you were having built; they weren't the final ones since you had yet to make all the edits and additions you wanted.
"Will do. Be careful. You're stressing me out."
He scooted over.
The front door opened, and Steve came out.
"What are y'all doing out here?"
"Javi's risking his life to make your house pretty," you said, pointing at the man.
Steve moved to stand next to you.
"If you fall, we're not paying the medical bills," Steve called out.
Javi flipped him off.
The blonde man turned his head toward you. "Thank you for doing this. You don't know how happy it's made my wife. This is her favorite time of the year, and I know it's been killing her that she hasn't had the time to decorate."
"We're happy to help," you replied.
"She used to do it first thing the morning after Thanksgiving. She'd always make sure she had it off from work and I'd come home to our place looking like Santa Claus moved in." He chuckled. "Then, after the kids, it got harder for her to find the time, and the thing is, she doesn't even need to work full time. I make enough to support our family, but if I were to suggest her becoming a stay-at-home mom? Hey, Jav?" The man in question had slowly been making his way across the roof.
"Yeah?"
"What would Con do if I suggested she became a stay-at-home mom?"
"She'd have your balls."
Steve spoke to you, "She'd have my fucking balls."
Your eyes were on his blue ones. "Well, she loves her job, and I completely understand where she's coming from. Why is she the one who has to quit her career to take care of the children? Aren't you tired of the DEA's bullshit? Why don't you quit and become a stay-at-home dad?"
He made a face. "Might as well let Connie take my balls. I wouldn't want my wife being the breadwinner." He looked toward the roof, saying loudly, "Javi, would you want your wife to be the sole breadwinner?"
"No."
That wasn't the full context of the question.
"He didn't give you the full scenario," you told your future husband. "Would you be okay with your wife working full time? She wants to do it and loves her job while you were a stay-at-home dad?"
He completely stopped moving and was silent for some seconds.
"Javi?" you said. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry. To answer your question, yes, we both pull our weight and love what we do."
You turned to Steve, "See, there's nothing wrong with a woman being the breadwinner if you're equally putting in the effort for your family. She works, and you handle the kids and everything with the house. It's an even trade and doesn't make you less of a man. You gotta work on being more of a feminist, Steve. You've got a daughter with an absolute boss bitch of a mother showing her it's possible to have a successful career and a family. Sure, Connie doesn't need to work, but she loves it, and maybe next year you could surprise her by keeping the kids out of the house all day on her day off or hire a babysitter so she can do this one thing that makes her so fucking happy."
"I never even thought of that," he said quietly.
You gave his arm a pat. "That's why it's good to have an outside perspective sometimes. Now I swear to god, you better grab that ladder and take care of the lights on that part over the patio—" It was a steep A-shape, and you didn't want Javi on it. "Or, I will have your balls, and Connie will absolutely back me up."
"Yes, ma'am." He started moving toward the ladder. "Javi," he said to his friend. "That woman you're marrying is scary—it's no wonder she and Connie got on like a house on fire."
"I hate admitting we both like strong, independent women, who can kick our asses," Javi said.
Steve chuckled. "They're sexy as hell."
While the men finished the lights outside the house, you went inside to see if Connie needed help.
The tree was beautifully decorated with the lights, shining ball ornaments in many colors, some decorations made by the children, a string of beads around it, and at the bottom was a train track at the perimeter of the tree skirt with a model train slowly chugging along.
On the couches and chairs in the sitting room, festive pillows were put out that were white and had red poinsettias as a design on them, one small rectangular pillow in red velvet, and white cursive writing reading, 'Jingle Bells.'
Stockings were hung for each family member, with their names neatly embroidered on them on the wall beside the tree. The dining room table had Christmas-themed table settings atop it, and in the kitchen, the towels were all replaced with red and green ones.
The mother and her kids were nowhere to be found at the front of the house or in the kitchen, but there was laughing at the back in the family room where you headed.
Connie was outlining the windows with a string of rainbow-colored lights while Olivia danced with her brothers to “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” by The Jackson Five—Nate doing more of a shimmy while Stevie did a shake and their sister twirled about.
This was another one of those moments where you felt like you were intruding on core memories being made—these children, the older ones at least, would remember dancing their hearts out to Christmas music after spending the day at the beach with their favorite uncle.
A special day for them.
Like how it was a special day for you and memories were made you'd never forget.
You'd always remember the warmth of Javier's leather jacket over your shoulders, the smell of the salty, briny air, how your hand felt in his, the beautiful colors of the sky as the sun rose and the light reflected off the ocean, and the moment you realized he was proposing, the surprise, the shock, the unbridled happiness, and seeing the gorgeous ring you'd find out belonged to his mother. He tasted of mint when you kissed him the first time after you said yes. When you finished breakfast, his kisses were laced with coffee and the sweetness of fruit and glazed pastries. The words of his love and devotion were etched in your brain, and how he knew he would marry you on your third date during another moment you could never forget, of dancing in the kitchen with him for the first time.
This was a day you'd think about on the bad days. You'd use these memories in the future to remember why you loved Javier Peña so much when he pissed you off, annoyed you, or fucked up. Your children would hear about their mother's best morning of her entire life.
You turned around and started walking toward the kitchen to get a glass of water.
One day, it’d be Javi and you making core memories with your own children, and the thought made you smile.

The Christmas lights were a pain in the ass to put up on the house, but he'd gotten it done and didn't fall off the roof and crack his head open—he had to change his shirt, though, which annoyed the fuck out of him because he wouldn't match his fiancée when they went out.
It was later on in the evening, they'd eaten dinner, the kids had been put to bed, and the last-minute babysitter willing to come and charge them an arm and a leg had shown up to make bank watching TV and eat his friends’ food.
They were on their way to the bar in their rental while Steve and Connie took his little truck.
"Why are you pouting?" Cielito asked.
"I'm not pouting."
"You're absolutely pouting. Is it the shirt?"
"No..."
"We can go to a bar not looking like twinsies one time, baby." His hand was holding hers on her thigh, and she rubbed the back of his with her other one. "Besides, the shirt you're wearing is still a shade of pink."
"But not the right shade."
"I like your coral shirt. I'm sorry my matching shirt to that one is absolutely disgusting from today's events. We'll match again tomorrow."
He deflated as he sighed.
"Anyways, we're going to a bar in Miami. Is this like a party bar? Should I be expecting a bunch of college kids? Or something low-key?"
His face scrunched up.
"Definitely not a party bar. We're going to my usual place."
"Oh."
He glanced over at her.
"Is that okay?" he asked. "Or do you want to go to a party bar? I can take you dancing if that's what you want. Steve and Connie won't give a fuck. They're just happy about getting a night without the kids."
She was looking at her lap.
"The place we're going is fine."
His bullshit detector in his head was going off, looking back at the road.
"What's wrong with this bar? Why don't you want to go to it?"
"I didn't say anything was wrong with it or that I didn't want to go to it."
"Your reaction when I told you where we're going begs to differ—cut the shit, mi amor (my love). What's wrong?"
She let out a long sigh and mumbled a reply he couldn't understand.
"What?" he asked, looking over at her. "Use your words, baby."
"I said I don't like that we're going to the place you'd find women to fuck at! There, are you happy?"
Her outburst caught him off guard, and it took him a second to respond.
"You've never had a problem with the bar in Laredo..." he said.
"That's different." She slumped.
"How is it different...?"
"We're just really digging into my insecurities today."
"What are you talking about?"
He was so confused. She was the one who wanted to go to a bar, and he was taking her to one that had a decent atmosphere she’d like.
"The women you hooked up with in Laredo are all around your age—I'm an outlier. Then we have Miami, that's a whole different playing field because it's filled to the brim with young gorgeous women—like so many chicks walking down the street who could be models, and then there's fucking me who isn't even looking her cutest and was dumb to not pack a single pretty dress, and we're going to the place you used to pick up hot ladies to bone!"
"I don't give a fuck about anyone else at the bar, and you're the one wearing my mother's ring. Cielito?" He glanced over at her, and she met his eyes. "Anywhere we go, it doesn't matter the place or how many people are there, you're the one I look for—nobody else matters. They don't fucking exist. It's you. It's always only you that I search for in the room.” He focused forward again. “Yeah, we're going to the bar I used to frequent, but that's because it's a nice place that I know you'll like. If you're really bothered about it, we'll go somewhere else. But you need to understand that—name a female celebrity the world thinks is the sexiest." He sure as fuck didn't know. The only one he could name off the top of his head was Farrah Fawcett.
"Um, Jennifer Aniston."
"I have no fucking clue who that is."
"Rachel on Friends and the main chick in that movie we watched where the woman gets pregnant and wants to raise the baby with her gay best friend instead of her boyfriend and the baby daddy."
He vaguely remembered the movie and what the actress looked like.
"Okay, yeah. You need to understand that Jennifer Aniston could be in the room, and I wouldn't fucking notice because I'd be too busy looking at you."
"Well, if we're out in public, there'd probably be fans flocking her and paparazzi, so she'd be pretty hard to ignore, on top of that fact, she's stunning."
He took a deep breath and let it out.
"Cielito?" His head turned toward her.
"Yes?" She met his gaze.
"I love you and only have eyes for you. Do you understand that?"
"Yes, and I'm a little overwhelmed by how sweet it is that you search for me, and I do the same thing and search for you, and literally Harrison Ford could be in the room, and you'd be the one I was ogling."
"Really?"
"Yes, because, as I've stated, you are the sexiest man alive."
That made him feel really good about himself.
"Do you want me to take you somewhere else?"
"No. I'm okay now. You made me feel better."
"Good."
He raised her hand to kiss her knuckles and the large diamond on her ring.
When Javier spent a lot of time somewhere, he looked for three things: a decent barber, a good bar, and Mexican food. This meant his first couple of weeks were spent getting acquainted with his new surroundings and searching for his big three.
In Colombia, he didn't have a barber but instead went to a woman-owned salon, where an abuela, her two daughters, and a granddaughter ran the place, and he had the best time listening to the chisme (gossip) while the old woman did his hair.
Aside from the bar everyone at the embassy went to, there was also this little hole-in-the-wall place he liked to go to when he didn't want to be seen by colleagues called La Sirenita (The Little Mermaid) that Cielito got a kick out of when he told her about it.
He managed to find Mexican places in each place he lived while in South America, though Bogotá had the best tacos.
Miami, Steve told him to get his hair cut at the place he went to, and Javier laughed because he thought it was a joke. He found a barber within the first week by simply asking a guy working at the mall with a nice, fresh haircut where he'd gotten it done.
There was a huge nightlife scene and more bars and clubs than he could count, but his preference was dive bars where the atmosphere wasn't too rowdy, and the drinks were poured well, which led to him finding a joint whose name was taken from a euphemism for drunken hallucinations, called The Pink Elephant—he got a kick out of the name, and the place wasn’t half bad.
It wasn't flashy; the lights were dimmed, with a handful of bright neon signs on the walls advertising different brands of beer. The wall behind the long bar had dozens and dozens of liquor bottles displayed behind it on shelves. The seating options included the bartop, tables, and booths, and a small stage was at the back for live music with a dance floor that wasn’t too big. A hallway separated the kitchen from a small room attached to the main one that had a couple of pool tables and down the hall led to two single-stall bathrooms, a janitor’s closet, and a door to the outside where people could smoke if they wanted air, and didn’t want to do it inside.
Since it was a Friday night, there was already a light haze of cigarette smoke when they walked in, and a cover band was playing hits from the 80s. Only a few seats were empty at the bartop, and it wasn't looking good in terms of tables until Connie spotted some people leaving a booth and snagged it before they even made it out of the door.
It wasn’t terribly loud, but he had to speak in Cielito's ear as they walked to the bar with his arm around her. "Go sit with Connie. Steve and I will get the drinks."
"I'm staying with you," she said.
He shrugged to himself. "Okay," he replied and kissed the side of her head.
Steve and she were on either side of him when they got to the bartop, and her right arm was around his waist with her hand on his ass. Her left elbow rested on the top of the bar, and she seemed to be really interested in touching her hair.
He smiled as they waited for the bartender to come over and take their order. His head turned to speak in her ear again. "You want me to get up on stage and say in the mic for everyone to hear I'm yours and marrying you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. I simply wanted to spend more time with you."
"You wanted to mark your territory, is what you wanted to do." He hugged her closer to his side. "And I fucking love it—flash your ring back a little more. I don't like how that woman's looking at me."
Her head quickly turned toward him.
"What woman?"
"The one at the table.” He nodded over her. “Seven o'clock. Blonde. Fake tits. Won't stop eyefucking the back of my head."
Cielito's head whipped in the direction he said, and her glare must've been deadly with how the other woman paled, his fiancée flipping her off with her ring finger, followed by the middle one.
He laughed, pressing his face into her neck and kissing her skin, saying into it, "I love you so fucking much."
Her hand went into the hair at the back of his head, and she pulled to make him look at her. "I love you, too."
Those perfect lips of hers smashed against him, and he grabbed a handful of her ass, opening his mouth for her tongue to slide against his.
It might be fucked up, but one thing that really got him going was when she got territorial and needed everyone in the vicinity to know they were together. He loved being wanted so much that she was broadcasting he was hers, and she was his, and she’d fight anyone who tried to make a pass at him. That was why he was all over her, too, so anyone with eyes would see she was off limits.
It was her protectiveness of him, like he was of her, that also did it for him. Without even thinking, she’d put herself between him and another to defend him if she had to—which he’d never allow her to be in any actual danger. She could eviscerate his enemies with her words all she wanted; anything physical, if it came to that, would be left to him no matter how feisty she got, and she could get real feisty.
God, he loved her.
He was no damsel in distress or princess trapped in a tower—he could take care of himself, but he didn’t have to anymore because he lucked out and got a knight in shining armor for a wife, and he was going to worship the ground she walked upon every damn day for the rest of his life.
"Are y'all just gonna suck face or order some fucking drinks?" Steve asked. He must've turned his attention to the bartender. "Sorry about them. They got engaged this morning, and I swear they're stuck together with glue or some shit."
He broke the kiss, turning to glare at Steve.
"Congrats!" the large man behind the bar said. Blue light from a neon sign was reflecting off his bald head, and he had an impressive full handlebar mustache that put what Javier had going on to shame. With how big the man’s biceps were, he could probably benchpress Steve and Javier at the same time. "Let me see the ring."
Cielito immediately held out her hand, and Javier’s chest puffed out a little.
"That's a beauty." He looked between them both. "What can I get you two? On the house, in celebration this beautiful woman actually said yes to a guy with a face like yours."
Javier's eyes narrowed, and his jaw ticked, Steve laughing beside him.
The guy grinned. "I'm joking! Thought you were gonna kill me with how you looked at me. You're a real handsome man—a pretty boy, and you’ll make some cute babies together."
That had him going soft. "Thanks, man," he said.
"No problem. Now, what can I get you?"
They ordered their drinks, Javier sticking to his usual, a whiskey, the bartender surprising him with some spendier stuff than he normally got. Cielito, on the other hand, ordered a drink he'd never heard of with an interesting name that, after she told him everything that was in it, turned out to basically be a blue Long Island ice tea or something that told him he was in for an interesting night.
At the table, the Murphys were on one side while they were on the other with her pressed against him and his arm over her shoulders.
"So, what are y'all’s plans for Christmas?" Connie asked before taking a sip of her colorful drink.
"I'm working," his future wife answered. "It's a bummer since it's our first Christmas, and Javi has it off. We'll do most of our celebrating on Christmas Eve with his dad, and then when I get home from work on Christmas, we'll open presents."
Connie looked sympathetic. "I know what it's like having to work on holidays. Sick people don't stop being sick for a day. Hopefully, next year, y’all will have it off together."
“I sure hope we do.”
And he hoped they’d have a baby by then.
The four of them chatted while they sipped their drinks. Connie was interested in hearing if they had any plans for their wedding yet or an idea for their honeymoon, which they told her the truth of how they were hoping to have a small ceremony with his dad officiating at the ranch, followed by a big party with their friends and family they were invited to, and that their honeymoon was going to be on an island—they hadn't talked about it yet, they both just knew that's where they'd wanna go and shared a look when Javier had said it.
When he finished his whiskey, he had a nice buzz and decided to go get a beer since he had to drive later that evening.
His friends were telling Cielito funny tales about being parents, which she was enjoying.
"I'm gonna go get another drink," he whispered in her ear. "You want anything?"
She looked at him, and he could tell she was just as buzzed. "Can you see if they have fries or mozzarella sticks? I want food."
"Okay, mi amor (my love)." He kissed her forehead.
He got up from the table and made his way through people standing and past tables, unable to help himself from looking back over his shoulder to see Cielito watching him as she spoke to Steve and Connie.
Javier wasn't paying attention and ran into the back of someone.
"Shit." He looked forward. "Sorry." It was the woman his fiancée had flipped off earlier, and her face shifted from anger to delight when she saw it was him.
She turned around to face him and put a hand on his arm that he immediately shrugged off as she said, "I knew you'd come find me—" She leaned in close, and he could smell the booze on her breath. "—why don't you let me take you out back and we can do things that stuck up bitch you're here with wouldn't think of."
He was already on edge, but that had anger flaring up inside of him. He stepped back from her with his eyes glaring, and when he spoke, his tone was icy enough to freeze the Sahara. “Don’t you fucking dare talk about my wife like that. She’s better than you in every fucking way, and I wouldn’t even look at you if you were the last woman on earth, let alone touch you—that woman—” He pointed behind him. “—is literal perfection, and I’m the luckiest man on this fucking planet because she’s with me. So, get it through your head. I’m not interested and very happily taken.”
She looked mad. "You could've just told me no, you asshole."
"You disrespected my wife and, in turn, disrespected me and lost any chance of me politely turning you down. Now get the fuck out of my way, my wife's hungry, and you've wasted enough of the time I could've been spending with her."
She scoffed and moved, muttering ‘Fucking prick’ under her breath.
He paid attention this time when he continued walking to the bar and only turned to look toward their table when he reached his destination—"Shit," was said under his breath as he immediately booked it the way he came at the sight of Steve blocking the woman he loved from leaving their side of the booth as the blonde he’d told to fuck off backed away from their table with her middle finger raised.
Connie was making her way toward him, meeting him halfway. "Thank god," she said, continuing to walk with him. "Your fiancée is gonna beat that woman's ass."
"What happened?"
"Well, she didn't care for the blonde talking to you, but when it was clear you were telling her to fuck off, she was fine. Then..."
He was at Connie's back as they pushed through people.
"Then what?"
"Then you apparently pissed off that woman enough she came over to our table to tell your girl she could keep you since you had no taste, were probably bad in bed, and some demeaning shit about your masculinity—I've never seen Steve move as fast as he did to get between the two of them, 'cause Javi, the look on your fiancée's face said she was ready to spend the night in jail."
"Fuck, did you see where the blonde went?"
He’d lost her in the crowd, his head turning to try and spot her.
"If she knows what's best for her, she left, but you need to calm your lady down."
They were at the table, and Steve was standing with his arms crossed, swaying from side to side with how she was trying to get around him.
"I just want to talk to her," she said.
"You wanna do more than talk to her," Steve replied.
"She deserves to be more than talked to."
Javier patted Steve's shoulder twice, and the other man glanced over to see it was him.
"Hey, look who's back," Steve said, stepping to the side so Javier could take his place.
Her face was scrunched in anger, and he crouched to be at eye level with her. He pressed his hand to her cheek.
"Cielito, baby, it's okay," he said soothingly. "She's gone. Stop thinking about her. She doesn’t matter."
“Not after what she said about you,” she seethed.
"Let's get some air, mi amor (my love)." He stroked her face. "How drunk are you?"
His eyes moved to her drink, which wasn't close to empty.
"Buzzed—I didn't want to get drunk."
He nodded. "Okay, come on, baby," he said, taking her hand firmly into his and getting her out of the seat. He leaned into Steve. "Thanks, man—I'm gonna take her outside for a bit so she can cool down. You guys enjoy yourselves. We'll be back."
"Sounds good."
She was behind him as they weaved through people to the hallway leading to a back door. The corridor was empty, the music getting quieter and quieter the further they walked away from it and toward the fire door at the end of the hall, a red glowing 'Exit' sign hanging above it.
Right before they got to where they were headed, there was a little alcove with unisex single-stall bathrooms across from each other and a janitor's closet between them. They passed it and were coming upon the back door when it suddenly opened—"Fuck," Javier said, coming face to face with the blonde. He spun around, immediately grabbing onto Cielito's hips, trying to turn her, too. "Other way."
He knew the moment she spotted the other woman because she tried to push past him.
"Hey, bitch!” Cielito shouted. “Say that shit to my face again!" That was a bad idea, and he put his arms around her waist, keeping her in front of him no matter how much she struggled. "Let me kick her ass, Javi!" He was forcing her to move backward.
"No, baby," he grunted. "I'm not letting you get arrested. She’s not worth it."
"I told you," the woman loudly slurred, "your husband is a shitty fuck and a pussy—look at this, he has you fighting for him!"
His head turned. "Are you fucking serious, lady?" he asked her.
The sound his fiancée made would best be described as a roar, and he had no choice but to haul her away with his arms around her middle while she thrashed in his hold and screamed some very creative profanity at the blonde—his favorite was ‘You stupid, fuckitty, fuck, fuck, fucking thundercunt bitch!’
He didn't think he could get her all the way back down the hall, so he took her into the one empty bathroom with the door cracked open, getting it shut and locked behind them.
What was he supposed to do now? He needed to get her mind off the confrontation or, better yet, make her forget about the whole thing.
He did the one thing he knew would distract her, crushing his mouth to hers, muffling her surprised sound. His large palm was cupping her cheek, his other holding her hip, as he guided her some steps to press her back against the sink on the wall opposite the door. When his tongue swiped along her bottom lip, asking for entry, she opened, and he eagerly delved inside to tangle his muscle with her own, tasting some notes from her drink—tequila, gin, blue curaçao, sour mix.
Her fingers were on his chest, and where once it was to push out of his hold, now she had his shirt clutched in her fists, trying to pull him closer. The first moan he earned from her made him smile into their filthy kiss that was nothing more than a practiced dance of their tongues sliding along each other.
Blood was rushing to his groin, feeling himself beginning to harden, and he wasn't sure if this would be enough to get her mind off of what had happened—they were alone, someplace semi-private, all he'd need to do is pull down those jean shorts, turn her around and slip his cock into the wet heat of her pussy and he knew he was a good enough fuck to make her forget that other woman even existed.
When they needed to take a breath, he nipped at her bottom lip, his mouth making a path of kisses along the line of her jaw until he was at her ear, letting his hot, hard breaths fan against it, causing her to shiver.
"Let me make you feel good," he rasped. His hand on her hip moved to palm at the front of her bottoms, where she was extra warm. "Let me make you forget, Cielito—I’ll fuck you nice and hard. I'll make those pretty eyes roll back, and the dick will be so good, I’ll have you drooling. Can I make it all better? Make you forget?"
“Babe, no amount of good dick is gonna make me forget about what that fucking twatwaffle said—and it’s absolutely on sight if I see her stupid, jealous bottle blonde ass again.”
His nose nudged into her ear. “Is that a no or a challenge?”
“It’s a—“ She ground against his hand. “—I’ve always fantasized about you fucking me in a bar, so I’m down for a quickie, but it’s not gonna make me stop being angry.”
He smiled and kissed her cheek. “A challenge then.”
Her eyebrow rose as he looked her in the eyes. "You really think you're that good?"
He smirked. "Look at who you're talking to. I know I'm that good, and I'll make you so fucking cock dumb you'll forget that spiteful woman even exists." His hands went to the front of her shorts, quickly popping the button and pulling down the zipper. "Now be a good girl for me and don't make a sound no matter how good it feels—I don't want us getting kicked out. Steve would be so fucking annoying about it."
She palmed over his half-hard dick, and it made his mouth go slack, her eyes darkening. "He would," she said. "I'll try to be quiet."
"You will be quiet, or I stop."
Her eyes went a little wide. "Sexy Star Wars," she whispered.
"What?"
"It's like the sexy version of the line Yoda says in Empire, 'Do or do not, there is no try.' I either will or will not be quiet, there won’t be any trying—I make noise, and you'll withhold the dick." To end the sentence, she lightly squeezed his cock.
He huffed out an amused breath.
"I love you." Leaning in, he kissed her. When he pulled back, he said, "But I can't believe we're about to fuck and you're thinking about Star Wars."
She looked at him madly, and he wondered what he said wrong. "I'm sorry, what you said reminded me of a line and that I don't happen to be the king of dirty talk, unlike some people."
"King of dirty talk?"
"You, Javier, and I'm just a fucking mood killer."
He needed to get things back on track, and clearly, he accidentally upset her—he knew just what to do.
"Stop it," he told her and took her face into his hands, smashing his lips to hers in a hard kiss.
It was one of those kisses where she was a little disoriented afterward and hungry for more—wanting his hands on her, to feel his cock inside her, more of his mouth on hers—it was a kiss that made her greedy and grabby, and she definitely got his pants undone to get the hard, hot shaft of his cock into her palm, languidly stroking him.
He slid his hand into her panties, slipping two fingers through her slit to find her cunt wet and slick enough to take him.
“Fuck, baby,” he murmured into her lips. His mouth moved to rasp in her ear. “I haven’t even touched this perfect pussy, and you’re soaked—it turns you on to know I’m gonna fuck you in here?” Her answer was a moan. “—It turns you on that if we’re not quiet enough, someone could hear how good I make you feel?”
The pads of his digits were swirling around her perky little clit.
“Yes,” the word was a gasp, and he smiled.
“My dirty fucking girl—I bet you want people to hear us—you want everyone to know this pussy is mine—” He cupped it in his palm. “—and I’m the best fuck you’ve ever had.”
She’d told him as much on many occasions.
Her hand left his pants to make him look at her with a tug of his hair, her eyes dark and face serious.
“I want that stupid bitch to hear you giving it to me so good she leaves the bar crying out of pure jealousy.”
And she was still angry at the blonde. She was going to make him work for it, and he was ready for the challenge.
License plates from different states and countries, some old and beat up, others newer, lined the top half of the walls in colorful metal stripes, the lower portion painted black; a decent-sized mirror was over the wall-mounted white porcelain sink, the toilet beside it, and a hand air dryer hanging near them—most notably, Javier had room to work in since the space wasn’t cramped at all.
Wasting no time, he shoved her shorts and underwear down, spinning her around to face the mirror and sink, and he took a couple of steps back, bringing her with him.
He looked at them both in the mirror with his head beside hers, pressing his lips to her ear, and eyes locked on one another's. “I know you want her to hear,” he whispered, “but I’m gonna need you to be quiet.” He rubbed her bare hips. “Promise me that no matter how fucking good it feels, you’ll keep those pretty noises I love to a minimum.”
She gulped. “I promise, even though I think we should just go for it and be that couple.”
He smiled. “The couple that doesn’t care and has noisy sex in a bar bathroom? You get brave when you’re pissed off.” He kissed her jaw under her ear. “And no, we’re gonna be quiet.”
Getting kicked out at minimum and arrested at worst didn’t sound like a good time to him.
She pouted, and it made him chuckle.
“This isn’t something you would’ve done before me,” he said as he shimmied his jeans down his thighs to free himself. He took his dick in hand, giving it a few strokes. “I’ve created a monster.” He needed to make sure he was nice and slick, so he spit on his fingers and used them to lube himself up.
“A horny monster—stick it in.” She wiggled her behind.
He kicked her feet apart. "A fucking impatient monster—bend forward, hands on your knees," he ordered, lightly pushing on her spine, and she did as he said, sticking her ass out. It only took him seconds to notch at her opening and push right in, her hot, tight walls hugging him all the way down to the hilt.
The first, initial thrust was always his favorite when they both couldn’t help the soft sounds that escaped their throats and the heat of her cunt giving way and enveloping him, Javier fitting inside her so snugly, he thought his cock had to be just the right size for her—not, too big, not too small, simply perfect.
It gave credence to the fact he was made for her.
He knew he had big hands, yet he loved how perfectly they held her smaller ones. Their lips fit together like two matching puzzle pieces snapping together. His arms were long enough to hold her close to him.
They were two halves of a whole that managed to find each other on a planet with billions of people—he found his media naranja (soulmate), and right this second, he was going to fuck away all of the negative shit that had happened tonight, because he loved her more than life itself, and wanted her to enjoy the rest of her night.
This was going to be quick and dirty, hard and rough.
His hands were gripping her hips as he pulled out almost all the way and slammed back in, tugging her ass back when he thrusted forward to penetrate as deep as possible. Her back arched, and on the next stroke, a choked noise came from her, and he knew his dick was pressing in just right to hit that spot that made her pussy weep uncontrollably and her thighs tremble.
He set a punishing pace that had his hips slamming into her from behind with a smack of skin against skin, and it was so wet where they were joined, he could hear his cock working in and out of her, soft moans spilling past her lips, while he grunted, sweat forming on his brow and down his spine.
If someone were to put their ear to the door, they'd know exactly what was going on—hell, there was a chance the rhythmic beat of his thrusts were echoing loud enough to be heard out in the hall.
The thought that people knew what they were doing had pleasure slicing through him like a knife's edge, ramping up what was already building in his gut.
"Touch yourself," he said through his teeth. "Play with your pussy."
With how she was fluttering, he knew she was close.
She didn’t acknowledge he said anything or did as he ordered, and it had pride swelling in his chest that he was fucking her so good, she was lost in the pleasure and probably couldn’t even think a coherent thought.
The bathroom’s lighting wasn’t the brightest, but when he looked down, he could see his dick shining in her arousal as it disappeared into her sopping cunt, in and out, with a wet suck; her asscheeks were spread enough her puckered hole was in his line of sight, tempting him to slip in the tip of his thumb inside, but he knew that’d trip her up with how far gone she was, and he didn’t want to ruin her orgasm.
He knew one thing he could do that’d get her attention and keep her going, though.
Tumblr media
There was a chance your legs were going to give out with how they were trembling; the tight walls of your pussy were hugging his cock that filled you perfectly, making you feel full, each thrust hitting that spot that had stars dancing behind your closed eyelids.
The way he was pounding into you made it to where you couldn't think, not with how pleasure was coiling in your belly and making your skin vibrate.
A hand came down hard on the side of your ass, the sweet sting causing your cunt to clench, and you gasped out a moan, realizing he was trying to get your attention because he said something you missed.
"What?" You asked roughly since you'd been doing everything in your power to hold back your noises, your nails digging into the skin of your knees.
"Touch yourself," he gritted out, his pace not wavering. "Make yourself come."
You slid a hand between your legs, going low enough to spread your fingers around where he was fucking into you, feeling how his cock was drenched in your juices and your pussy stretched around him. With your digits wet, you moved them to circle the swollen bud of your clit, and it had heat starting to tighten in your belly.
Your mouth fell open at the combined sensations, all of it rocketing you toward your release, making it hard to keep quiet when it felt so fucking good—soft whimpers were leaving your mouth as you lost your mind.
There was no way anyone outside the door didn't know what was going on in here, not with how the slap of his hips echoed in the small room and Javi grunted behind you—he probably didn't even realize how much noise he was making.
His hands had a death grip on your waist as he pulled you back on his cock with each thrust, and it had him going so deep you were pretty sure if he went any deeper, he'd be in your stomach. Your eyes were rolled back, and you weren’t embarrassed to admit you were drooling a little.
How did you end up bent over and getting fucked within an inch of your life in a bar bathroom?
This was something you’d wanted to happen for a long time, and even though Javi was generally adventurous and risky in terms of places he’d have sex, he had turned down all of the times you tried at the bar back home—the closest you got was him fingering you under the table while you sat beside each other in a booth, but that was it.
The coil inside you was close to snapping with how tightly it was wound, and it didn’t take much to have you falling over the edge—there was the excitement of Javi railing your brains out in a semi-public location, the need to be quiet, your friends at the table oblivious to what you were doing, and the actual act itself; your fingers on your clit and his hard dick pistoning in and out of you that finally had you cresting. Your body tensed up tight as you came, and you must’ve made too much noise because Javi turned on the hand dryer with one hand and leaned over to cover your mouth with the other.
Pleasure spread through your body and out to your limbs while air blew loudly. Javi pulled you up to lean back against his chest with your head on his shoulder, his lips kissing your neck while his mustache tickled you.
"Good girl," he said against the shell of your ear. "Can I come?"
His palm had moved off your face. "Yes." Your hand went behind you and into his sweaty, damp hair. "Use me—come inside me."
What you didn’t expect was him pulling out of you—and you were only left to guess what he was doing for a second before he crouched behind you, roughly tugging down your jean shorts to your ankles, getting one of your shoed feet out of a leg.
He groaned as he stood up, and you gasped in surprise when you found yourself getting pushed with your back against the wall and a man immediately in your space, pulling your leg up on his hip. Javi wasted no time to sheath himself back inside you, his mouth colliding with yours to muffle your moan; his fingers dug into your thigh, bracketing his waist, his free hand snaking its way up your shirt, pulling down your bra cup to massage your breast in his large palm.
His rhythm was hard and fast, making your body jolt with every steady thrust, his breaths coming out labored, and your fingers in his hair. He was chasing his high, and you were happily going along for the ride.
The dryer had stopped, and you pulled his head back to make him look at you, his eyes more black than brown, glazed over, and heavy-lidded, his lips slightly parted and glistening, sweat coating his brow, hair sticking wetly to his forehead. It was rude how he always looked so hot during sex—even when he was coming, especially when he was coming.
“Come for me, Javi,” you said, pressing a hand to his cheek. “Fill me up, baby.”
“I will,” his voice was strained. “I said I was gonna keep you stuffed with my come today, and I am.” He was talking about your rendezvous at a hotel that morning when he promised to fuck you as many times as you’d let him to keep you full—this was number four. “I’m gonna fill you to the fucking brim, baby—fuck—” His eyes squeezed shut. “—we keep up like this, and you actually will be pregnant when we get married.”
The thought thrilled you. You moved his head forward to your shoulder and got your lips close to his ear. You whispered, “You’d love that—me already being pregnant when you make me your wife. You want that, Javi?” you purred. “You gonna fuck a baby into me?”
“Fuck,” he groaned, his strokes speeding up. His hand squeezed your breast. “I want you pregnant,” he grunted. “I wanna get you pregnant. I wanna see you pregnant with the bigger tits and the belly. You’re gonna look so fucking sexy.” His pace was getting jerky. “God, I love you. I love you so fucking much. You’re perfect. You’re amazing. You’re gonna be my wife.” He was rambling, so you knew he was close. “You’re gonna have my children. You love me.”  He sounded wrecked, pushing his face into your neck. “You love me.” The words were muffled and followed by a ragged moan as he pushed in all the way to the root and came, feeling his cock jerk hard and the warm, wet pulse as he filled your inner depths.
His hot breaths were panting against your skin, and like always, you pressed your fingers into his hair, and he slumped into you.
“There’s no falling asleep, mister,” you said.
“‘M not, jus need a sec,” he mumbled.
“Uh-huh, one sec, and next thing I know, you’re snoring.”
He sighed. “It happ’n’d one time.”
“That’s a damn dirty lie, and you know it.”
His head came up to look at you with a frown.
“Don’t I deserve one minute to get my head straight after giving you some amazing dick?”
“Of course, you deserve a minute—you deserve five minutes, but babe, we’re kinda, sorta, not really in a situation where we can lollygag and luxuriate in the post-sex goodness. Like, I would love to cuddle with you right now. There’s literally nothing more I want to do. However, we are in a bar bathroom with your dick inside me, and our friends are probably wondering where the fuck we are.”
This sigh was long, and he visibly deflated.
“I’m getting really fucking tired of not being able to fuck like we normally do,” he grumbled.
You cupped his cheeks. “You’re spoiled rotten—we’re on a trip. What were you expecting?”
“That we’d be able to fool around at night, but Steve decided to be a fucking prick and ruined the guest bed.”
“We have our floor mattress.”
He was pouting. “Can’t make too much noise.”
“But isn’t that fun?”
“The first time, yes.”
“Spoiled. You’re gonna have to tell her.”
He looked confused. “What?”
“You’re gonna have to break it to Connie that next time we visit, we’re getting a hotel room because, one, we can’t go too long without fucking, and two, you’re accustomed to sex a certain way that when you don’t get it how you like it, you become a big ‘ol grouch.”
“I can’t do that to her. It’d upset her.”
“Then you’re gonna have to get used to making compromises. We better clean up and get going.” You started to move, but he stopped you.
“Wait.”
“Yes?”
His eyes went a little bigger. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“I’m gonna say some sappy bullshit.”
You giggled. “Thank you for the warning—go for it.”
He smiled. “This is what I was thinking about when you told me not to fall asleep.” He pressed a hand over his heart. “Te pertenezco como la luna le pertenece a las estrellas—uno no existe sin el otro (I belong to you like the moon belongs to the stars—one does not exist without the other).”
Oh, nutting put him in his feelings. He did get incredibly romantic after coming. It was probably allowing himself to be so vulnerable.
“—Cuando estoy perdido y llega la oscuridad, tú eres mi estrella brillante que permanece a mi lado y me guía a casa (When I’m lost and the darkness comes, you are my shining star that stays by my side and guides me home). Te pertenezco (I belong to you). No soy nada sin ti (I am nothing without you). Estaría perdido en la oscuridad sin ti (I’d be lost in the dark without you). Tienes todo mi amor y devoción (You have all of my love and devotion). Haré cualquier cosa por ti (I will do anything for you). Y cuando tengamos hijos, también haré cualquier cosa por ellos porque tú eres mi vida (And when we have children, I will also do anything for them because you are my life). Te amo, mi Cielito (I love you, my Cielito). Gracias por amarme (Thank you for loving me).”
And with that, he leaned in and kissed you, putting in all of that love and devotion he had for you, making you feel it with every press of his lips.
Afterward, you quickly righted your clothes and cleaned up, forcing Javi to stare at the door as you peed and him not caring one single bit if you looked while he went—you didn’t.
Once you both looked presentable, he took your hand and led you out of the bathroom, where there was a small line of people waiting to use the restrooms, who either glared or leered at you both as you walked by, which you tried to ignore.
Back at the table, Steve and Connie looked very cozy on their side of the booth, with his arm around her shoulders and her tucked into his side as they laughed about something. Javi let you scoot into your seat first.
“Hey, you’re back!” Connie said, and she looked like she was feeling good.
“We are!” you replied.
“Are you feeling better?” she asked.
Javi was sitting close enough to you that you were touching, and he wrapped his arms around your middle, resting his head on your shoulder, or he was acting like a giant cat who wanted your attention. Your arm went across your body to play with his hair.
It took you a second to answer Connie’s question because you didn’t know what she meant—you felt fantastic.
“Oh!” It finally came to you, the whole altercation with that woman, and frankly, you didn’t care about it anymore. “I’m feeling much better, thank you,” you answered.
“That’s good.”
“Con,” Steve started, “tell them what happened.”
“What happened?” you asked.
Connie was clearly excited to tell you both the gossip. “So,” she said, leaning closer toward the table, “a little bit after y’all left, the blonde apparently had a death wish or was drunk as a skunk and was all over another woman’s man on the dance floor, which ended in a fight the blonde did not win and got her kicked out.”
“It’s what she deserved.”
“That’s not all—well, about the blonde, that’s all, but I have more to tell y’all.”
“Okay.”
“The other thing that happened was I went to go use the bathroom, and there was a couple fucking in the other one.” Your eyes widened, and Javi went still. “They were so loud,” she continued, “and really going at it—I don’t think they realized the music doesn’t make it down that hall and those bathrooms echo. We could just hear—” She clapped her hands to the same beat Javi was railing, and you cringed each time, wanting to crawl in a hole and die. Thankfully, she finally stopped. “—and grunting. I couldn’t make out if they were saying anything.”
Thank god.
“Wow,” you chuckled nervously. “That’s so embarrassing. Who does that? Who thinks it’s a good idea to fuck in a bar bathroom? I know, I wouldn’t—I’m a privacy of a bedroom kinda girl.”
Steve’s eyes narrowed, and you knew you fucked up.
“Javier Peña,” the other man hissed. “Are you fucking serious?”
The man accused sat up, pressing fingers to his forehead. “We ran into the blonde at the back door, and my amazing future wife was on a fucking warpath, so I had to do something to get her mind off it.”
“And that something was getting your dick wet in a public bathroom?”
Javi’s hand fell, and he glared at Steve. “What would you have done if it was Connie? Would you have let her fight a woman for you or done something you knew would make her forget, even if it was risky?”
Steve seemed to be thinking it over.
“There was no way of getting her home?”
“Steve, I practically had to carry her into that bathroom with how she was screaming and trying to go after the other woman.” Heat was creeping up your neck in embarrassment. “I didn’t have much choice.”
“If it was a last resort, then yeah, I would’ve done the same.”
“That’s so romantic,” Connie said, and her husband looked at her with a smile.
“You really think that’s romantic?” he asked. “I’d do anything for you, baby. Even if it’d send me to jail.”
Javi’s head turned, and so did yours to meet his eyes, the look on his face screaming, ‘Can you believe this fucking guy?’
The other couple were whispering amongst themselves.
Your fiancé leaned in. “He’s judgemental one minute, then his wife thinks it’s cute, and suddenly he’s Mr. I’d-Do-It-For-You.”
“Javi?” You rubbed a hand over his shirt-covered chest.
“Yeah?”
“I know it’s annoying as fuck, but I want you to think about the fact we’ve probably had more sex in the last two days than they’ve had the entire year.”
He looked horrified, his head snapping in their direction.
“Steve, Con,” he said, getting their attention. “We’re best friends. Be honest with me, with work and the kids, how many times have you fucked in the last year?”
The couple looked at each other and seemed to be counting in their heads.
“I can only think of five times where we actually got through it uninterrupted,” Connie said. “Add maybe an extra two incompletes.”
“Yeah,” Steve confirmed. “I’m counting five, too.”
Javi checked his watch, then moved forward to get his wallet out of his back pocket. He opened it, pulling out two bills.
“Merry Christmas,” he said, passing over a couple of hundred dollar bills. “Go rent a hotel room for the night and check out late. We’re gonna watch the kids until you’re back tomorrow.”
“You’re sweet, Jav,” Connie replied, “but we can’t—that’s too much.”
“Like hell, it’s too much,” Steve said, picking up the money. “We have to remodel because of this asshole, and I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Let’s go, honey—we’ve just been offered an opportunity that’s not gonna come back around until he visits again.” The blonde man was already out of his seat and holding his hand out to his wife.
“Thank you, Javi,” Connie told him as she scooted out with her purse. “Thank you, both. This is really nice of you.”
“Yeah, thanks, Jav,” Steve added, grabbing his wife’s hand and practically dragging her from the booth with quick goodbyes.
Your future husband looked at you with worry. “We’re gonna fuck more than five times a year after we have kids, right?”
“Oh, yeah. See, the difference between us and them is we’re opportunistic and will do it just about anywhere. It might not be as frequent as we currently are, but we’ll still fuck regularly—I promise.”
He held up his pinkie. “Pinkie promise,” he said seriously.
You giggled, wrapping your pinkie around his larger one. “I cannot believe you want me to pinkie promise about our sex life.”
His forehead pressed to yours, and your eyes closed.
“It’s a big enough deal that it warrants a pinkie promise. I love sex, not just because of how good it feels, but also the intimacy—my favorite part is afterward when I get to hold you in my arms and cool down.” A wistful sigh left him. “I haven’t gotten a lot of chances to do that while we’ve been here, and I, uh, miss it.” He took a deep breath. “What I’m saying is, I love spending that time with you naked, and honestly, we don’t even have to fuck. So, I just want you to pinkie promise me that after we have kids, we’ll put aside time for us to keep going on dates and having sex when we have the chance and cuddling naked.”
“I pinkie promise to that, but, babe?”
He pulled back to meet your gaze.
“Yeah?”
“You’re gonna have to get used to quickies and come to terms with the fact we’re gonna get interrupted.”
“It sounds like we’ll need a reliable babysitter, and it just so happens our children will have an abuelo living three minutes down the road who will happily watch them.”
“We better get a headstart on making up excuses for why we need to leave the kids with him for two to three hours.”
“Eh—” He shrugged. “—Pop and mi mamá used to leave me with mis abuelos y tías (my grandparents and aunts) so they could have time alone—he’ll know exactly why he was watching our kids.”
You smiled. “The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.”
“Yeah, if things had gone differently, I probably would’ve had ten siblings.”
“With your attitude toward Steve, who I consider your adopted brother, you’d be in hell with actual siblings. Well, your dad is getting the award for Father of the Year.”
Javi grinned. “He gets that award every year.”
“As he fucking should. Let’s get a plaque made to make it official. He’d get a kick out of it.”
He had a thoughtful expression on his face, and it was like you could read his thoughts.
You held his cheeks. “You’re gonna be an incredible father, Javi, and you’ll get a plaque, too—your dad will transition to Abuelo of the Year ‘cause, let's face it, he’s gonna be great at that, too.”
“You’re sure?”
“That you’ll be an incredible father? Oh, yeah. I’m positive. You’re gonna knock it out of the park! I’ve honestly already come to terms with the fact the tiny humans I will grow inside me and birth are going to love you more, and I’m not upset about it at all—you deserve it.” You stroked your fingers through his hair. “I promise you, Javi, you’re going to be an amazing dad, and our kids are going to be obsessed with you—I pinky promise you that.” You held up your little finger, and his eyes were misty as he looped yours with his.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you, too.”

Resolution

Alpha!Ari Levinson x omega female reader; shifter!Ari Levinson x shifter!reader
Bad Moon Rising Masterlist
summary: Ari has a particular resolution for the new year.
warnings: small doze of smutty at the end; chase kink; implied breeding kink;
Written as a result of this poll.
Tumblr media
Frost-coated leaves crunch beneath your paws as you slowly circle your mate, who’s stoically sitting furry ass down in the clearing, his tail swishing lazily.
Winter has come in full force at the beginning of December, but right around winter solstice lessened its grip on your lands. As shifters you don’t go cold easily, so it’s normal to go for runs even in layers of snow. But the run is more enjoyable when each step, each jump isn’t hindered by deep snow banks.
Snow is more amusing when you’re in your human form; though you still didn’t manage to land a snowball on your Alpha. His stupid fast reflexes are becoming annoying.
So are his senses.
Your fur coating should give you a solid advantage in the midst of winter, with its silvery hues that blend nicely with sun-stroked snow. Somehow, Ari is still able to track you down each time when you attempt to hide from him during your runs. Even rubbing yourself along resin drizzled bark doesn’t help mask your scent from your Alpha.
I’ll always find your ripe aroma, he murmured later as he held you down on his knot.
With a small huff, indignant that he easily dug you out from the small snow cave just minutes ago, you plop down beside him.
The ground in the clearing sparkles with a thin layer of snow and frost, the dark green of the forest spreads in a wide ribbon around you, coated with white veil. Above the treetops, the night sky illuminates with hues of orange and gold, occasionally purple and green.
Fireworks.
Marking the end of the year, announcing the start of another. And your past year has been a rollercoaster of change. It would remain a memorable one, for sure.
The one beginning is set to be unusual as well; with you settling into the life of a bonded woman and the certain expectations being the Alpha’s mate carries.
Trying not to think too much of it now, you focus instead on the play of colors in the sky and the grounding constant of nature surrounding you. As well your mate’s steady heartbeat that you can hear in the quiet night.
So far from the cities, the thunderous echo of fireworks blowing in the sky for the New Year celebration doesn’t hurt your sensitive hearing. Webs of fireworks aren’t visible either, only the colors changing the sky like a kaleidoscope.
None of the pack were ever interested in watching the fireworks up close. It’s enough to admire them on the tv screen, where the sound can be muted, so it doesn’t startle pups, nor annoys your sharp hearing.
You don’t mind sitting in the comfy quiet of nature, but you do feel slightly restless and a bit unsatisfied with your fun being cut short.
It tempts you to nip Ari before bolting away, but if you give him any indication of resuming your game, he would pounce on you immediately. So you skip the poking invitation and simply leap right into a fast pace.
You’ve learned a while ago it’s never a good idea to check how far from you your Alpha is, because that split of a second is enough of an advantage for him. Heart pounding in excitement and exertion, you cut through the forest.
As the trees grow sparse and the shape of your house comes into view, you almost give a victorious howl. However, just as you breach the tree line, a massive, bronze wolf cuts in your way from the side.
You snarl in annoyance. Once again your mate has outrun and outsmarted you.
He growls at you in response and your whole body jerks.
The shift comes quickly and within seconds you find yourself in human form - naked on the snow.
“Fucking hell!” You jump onto your feet. “It’s freezing cold, Ari!”
He rarely forced you into a shift; maybe once since that time at your mating ceremony. You didn’t expect it now (just like you never expected it before, either) and the very first instinct - aside from shifting back into your warm wolf fur - is to bury yourself in your Alpha’s fur.
But Ari shifted into his human form, as well. His big hand grips the back of your neck before you finish your second sentence, pulling you close to his beefy form. Heat radiating off of him engulfs you.
“I’ll warm you right up, Omega,” his breath tickles your lips, then his mouth shuts off any of your verbal responses.
With his other hand he grabs your ass and yanks you up. You wrap your legs around his hips, arms around his neck as he carries you in a few long strides inside your house. Just a few steps in, onto the nearest surface that would suffice this raw need bubbling out.
Desire for Ari seems to always thrum beneath your skin, but it bursts in sudden flares of consuming heat so unexpectedly. You could be simply talking one moment and in the next breath you’re spreading for him.
Ari pushes you down onto the soft bear skin stretched in front of the fireplace in the living room.
He claims it’s a trophy from a bear he killed himself when roaming up northern borders. You call bullshit. You suspect it’s a store-bought Yogi bear.
But it doesn’t matter when Ari pins you down with his weight, rocking his hips between your splayed apart thighs. His cock is already half-hard and your body reacts to his growing potent scent.
“Ari!” You hiss in pleasure, raking your fingernails down his back when his tip breaches your hole.
“Always so ready for me,” he purrs, pushing deeper in. “Don’t have to work you up too much, this sweet pussy is so eager to take her Alpha’s knot.”
“And when your heat comes in a few weeks-” he pauses for a moment- “I’m gonna give it what it craves the most-”
Ari snaps his hips forward, burying his cock to the hilt and making you cry out.
“Gonna breed you, little omega. Getting you swollen with our pups is my new year’s resolution.”

A/N: This was supposed to be short. I'll be honest, I don't like this, I don't think it's good. I'm so sorry this took so fucking long, I'm never writing a holiday themed fic again; this was way too silly to be this hard to write. Sorry for the fuckass quality on the header, lmao.

You stepped outside the station, feeling the cold, crisp air fill your lungs. It had been a while since you'd been in your hometown, and you didn't remember it being this cold in December.
You sighed, your breath turning into white mist. It was freezing, snow coating the streets. You cursed quietly, you had told your mom you didn't need a ride.
It was strange, really. How you had let your mother convince you of visiting her and your step-dad for the holidays. You normally would have refused in any way you could, but something was different this year.
It had been a long, tiring year. Your long term girlfriend had dumped you after you had lost your job. Then your cat had died, and you were feeling more lost than ever.
When your mother reached out to you to invite you to spend the holidays with them, you hesitated for the first time in years.
The relationship between you and your mom had always been sort of difficult, and the fact that she remarried almost immediately after your dad left was something you weren't willing to forgive just yet.
But you were exhausted after everything. Something inside you told you that maybe this time spending the holidays with them was worth it.
You shivered, wrapping your coat tightly around your body. The town was like you always remembered it. Dull, gray and frankly, odd. Growing up here was the least exciting part of your life.
You stood outside the station waiting for a taxi to come by, but with no avail. It seemed like the streets were empty aside from the families who were waiting for their loved ones inside the station, their cars parked outside.
You considered asking for a ride when you heard a sweet, almost familiar voice behind you.
“Everything okay?” You turned around, finding a police officer standing right there.
Blonde hair tied in a ponytail, green eyes and a tiny, polite smile on her lips. She was wearing a green wool trucker jacket over her police uniform.
“Oh,” you breathed out, feeling your cheeks heat up. She was really, really pretty.
“I, um. I was hoping to take a taxi,” you said awkwardly, fiddling with the pockets of your jacket. The police officer hummed, looking thoughtful.
“No, that won't do,” she murmured. Your eyes widened.
“Excuse me?”
“There aren't many taxis here, I'm sure you have noticed by now,” she chuckled and you frowned.
“Great,” you murmured. “There's always something with this stupid town.”
The officer raised her eyebrows, “local?”
You remain silent for a moment. “Something like that. I grew up here.”
She nodded, eyeing you curiously. She looked like she wanted to say something but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Ultimately, she smiled at you and put her hands into the pockets of her jacket. “Well, you need a ride… and I can give you one. Where are you headed?”
You tensed up, turning to face the officer. “Sorry?”
She laughs, “I said, where are you headed? My shift is almost over and it looks like it’s gonna storm.” You gazed at the sky for a moment, she was right.
“You’re offering me a ride?” You asked, confused. She seemed amused at your confusion.
“Yes, miss, I’m offering you a ride.”
You licked your lips. The wind was getting stronger, and you could feel the chill penetrating through your coat. The station seemed to have emptied, and the few people that remained were starting to leave with their families. On one hand, you could always wait under the cold and hope that a taxi showed up, you could also walk, but the snow was already making things slick and the taxi situation didn’t seem to be improving. You took a look at the officer, who gave you a small smile, and you sighed. She seemed trustworthy enough.
Knowing that she was probably your best bet, you sighed. “Alright, I’ll take it.”
She nodded politely, smiling still. “Come, my car is this way.”
She guided you through the parking lot, opening the door for you when you reached her patrol car. Before you could say anything, a gust of icy wind hit you and you shivered. She gave you an understanding look, “We better get going before the weather gets too bad,” she said with a hint of sympathy in her tone.
You grumbled in embarrassment, climbing on the car. She positioned herself behind the wheel, the car rumbling to life with a steady hum.
You gave her your home address, and she pulled onto the road ahead. You sat there in silence, contemplating what you were doing in a stranger’s car.
“You look awfully familiar,” she said, and you snapped out of your thoughts. She stopped at a red light, waiting for it to turn green.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that I think I’ve seen you before…” She said thoughtfully, eyes focusing on your features. You felt your cheeks heat up at her staring. She looked at you for a moment longer before focusing back on the road.
"Really now?" You asked after taking a deep breath, you were getting curious.
You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but there was something about her that seemed familiar, too.
A few seconds of silence passed, the car still weaving its way through traffic, the engine humming in a steady, quiet rhythm.
"Wait a minute..." She said suddenly, a look of realization appearing on her face. "Wow, how could I forget!”
You stared at her, mildly confused. “You are Y/N! We went to the same English class in high school. You were always talking about Lord of the Rings.” She said, grinning.
You blushed in embarrassment, “ah, yeah. I… eventually grew out of it.”
She eyed you expectantly as you tried to remember who this woman could be.
She chuckled. “You don't remember me, huh?”
She had said it in an amused tone, but you could see a little flicker of disappointment in her eyes. You tried harder, closing your eyes. Then it hit you, she was the pretty blonde girl who always sat near the window, the one who made you realize you were attracted to girls.
“You're… Vanessa,” you opened your eyes, slightly surprised. “You used to sit by the window. Always wearing a green flannel.”
She smiled brightly. “Yes, yes! That was me!”
You huffed a laugh, it was incredible. You had run into your gay awakening, and she was giving you a ride home. Fifteen-year-old you would have gone into shock.
“I can't believe you remember the color of my flannel,” she said in a teasing tone. You hummed, blushing slightly.
“Well, I can't believe you remember my obsession with Lord of the Rings,” you chuckled.
Her eyes widened a little, her mouth slightly agape. After a moment of hesitation and gesturing awkwardly, she finally managed to say something. "Well, you always stood out to me." Her voice carried a hint of nervousness, a soft pink tint on her cheeks.
You were left stunned for a moment. She had noticed you back then.
“Oh,” you breathed out.
“Sorry, too weird?” She asked, with an awkward chuckle. You were quick to reassure her.
“Oh, no, not at all. I… I noticed you too.” She gave you a gentle smile, almost shyly, before stopping the car.
“Well… we’re here.” Your gaze drifted from her to the window. It was true, you were parked outside your house, you sighed. While you silently removed the seat belt, you could feel Vanessa’s gaze on you. You fought off a smile as you exited the car.
Vanessa lowered the window and asked, "Is there a chance we might run into each other again?" A beat passed in silence, and you finally spoke, your voice soft and your smile sincere. "Probably," you replied, hoping that you were right. "Hopefully," you added, making her smile in response.
“Thanks for the ride.” She nodded and then licked her lips. “No problem, I like doing favors for pretty girls like you.”
You looked away, feeling your cheeks heat up from the compliment. “You’re not so bad yourself,” you flirted back and she scowled playfully, blushing. “Maybe you could give me your number, so I can thank you later?” You leaned against the car.
Vanessa giggled softly, her scowl breaking into a shy smile. “Oh, I’d love to.”
You entered your parent’s house after parting ways with Vanessa.  You answered your mother's questions with monosyllables, a small smile playing on your lips. She had asked, of course, but you weren't about to tell her that you had run into your high school crush and she had given you a ride home and also her number. Instead, you just brushed it off as being happy to visit her and your stepdad, nothing more. As you went up to your room, your smile only grew wider. It had been ages since you had felt this way, and you were sure the feeling wouldn’t go away soon.
Tumblr media
“Time flies when you’re having fun.” That’s what people always said, you just rolled your eyes whenever you heard it, unable to understand how that could be true.
Until you experienced it yourself.
Vanessa had called, inviting you for lunch and of course you accepted. You didn’t expect to be returning home past midnight. Your mother had asked you to return home early so you could help plan the upcoming Christmas Eve party, but time had slipped away and now you were late, too late. This had been happening since you had arrived in town. She called and you always went. You couldn’t get enough.
You unlocked the door as silently as you could and tiptoed all the way to your room, but before you could enter the safe space, someone touched your shoulder.
You swallowed a scream and quickly turned around. It was your stepdad. You sighed, unsure if it was out of relief or annoyance. He raised his eyebrows expectantly.
“My bad, I wasn’t planning on being this late,” you muttered, he just nodded. After a while he spoke up.
“What’s going on?” You tried not to blush.
“I was with, uh… someone,” you explained, a little embarrassed.
His eyes widened slightly. You had expressed a disdain for dating and seeing other people after your ex had left you. “Oh, uhm…” He scratched his head awkwardly. “Okay.”
He turned around and went to his room. You stood there, cursing under your breath. The interaction had made you second guess everything. Were you genuinely ready to start seeing people again?
Next morning, you leaned against the kitchen counter as your mom scolded you for your late arrival, you just remained silent.
“I had to organize the entire thing myself! Could you at least help me decorate the house?”
You hummed in agreement, watching as she stressfully scrambled the eggs.
“Can… Can I invite someone?” Your mom snapped her head in your direction, and you could feel your stepdad lift his gaze from the paperwork, his eyes now drilling into the back of your neck. You shifted your feet nervously, and it took all your willpower not to bolt back into your room.
In the end they agreed, and you had immediately texted Vanessa to invite her. She happily accepted, and you knew you had to give all you had to decorate that damn house.
Christmas Eve finally arrived. The guests started arriving and you had to receive them. You had to hug people you hadn’t seen in literal years.
As hours passed, your excitement to see Vanessa dimed. She hadn’t answered your texts, and she didn’t seem to have any intentions in coming to the party. You quietly opened the front door and slipped out onto the porch, making sure not to attract your mom's attention.
You sighed, resting your forehead on one of the porch’s pillars, the soft murmur of “Last Christmas” filling your eyes. It was cold, too cold for your liking. You considered going back inside and enduring all the loud noises and flashy lights.
“Not a fan of parties?” Vanessa’s voice startled you, and you turned around. Her hair was down, and she was wearing her wool trucker jacket over a beige sweater. You sighed, closing the distance with a hug which she quickly reciprocated.
“I thought you weren’t going to come,” you pulled away slightly to look at her.
She chuckled softly, “Are you kidding? Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” You nuzzled your head onto the crook of her neck.
You hummed, staying silent for a moment. “Good,” you murmured against her neck as her soft hair brushed onto your face. “Because I don’t think I would survive this party without you being here with me.”
You heard the way Vanessa’s breath caught and smiled.
“Sorry for being late,” she said softly. “I got called in for an emergency. Some moron was drunk driving, crashed into a light pole, and then invaded a family's house to avoid getting arrested.”
You winced softly at Vanessa’s explanation. "Some nights are just like that," you replied softly, leaning your head against hers, taking in the scent of her shampoo.
"Did they catch him?" you asked as you pulled away from her body and looked into her eyes. They glistened under the Christmas lights, and your heart skipped a beat.
Vanessa's cheeks reddened slightly as you leaned closer to her, and she pulled away slightly to look at you better. She gave you a sheepish smile and you couldn’t help but notice how cute she looked when she blushed.
She softly brushed the back of her hand against your cheek, feeling the heat that had spread across your skin. She stared at you for a moment, a soft look in her eyes.
“Don’t worry,” she spoke softly as she ran her down slowly from your face to your neck. “They caught him before I even arrived at the scene. One of the kids inside the house threw cold water at him, hopefully that’ll teach him a lesson.”
You chuckled, shaking your head. Vanessa grinned.
You stayed in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes, just enjoying each other's presence. The voices inside the house got louder, and you checked your watch.
“It’s Christmas,” you said. She looked back at the house, where the sounds of music and laughter filled the air. She smiled, and turned back to look at you. “It’s Christmas,” she repeated softly, eyes lingering on yours.
She grabbed your hands softly and pulled you closer to the entrance door. It was closed, you had made sure of it when you retreated from the party. You frowned slightly, a little confused and she chuckled at your expression.
She gave you an amused look as she pointed up. You lifted your gaze, realizing that hanging from the top part of the door frame was a small sprig of mistletoe. You felt your cheeks flush deeply, all the cold you had felt before disappearing instantly. You shifted your feet, unsure of what to do or say. It wasn’t that you didn’t want, but you felt that sting of insecurity from the previous days return. Were you really ready for this? The last time you had dated someone it hadn’t ended well.
Vanessa noticed your mood change, and her eyes softened. “It’s only a mistletoe,” she said as she brushed your chin with her fingers. “You don’t have to take the kiss if you don’t want to.”
"It's not that, I…" You sighed, looking away from her in shame. "The last relationship I had… Well, the break up was messy." She remained silent, waiting for you to continue. "I don't feel like I'm ready to kiss you just yet.”
Vanessa nodded slowly, her fingers softly tracing your jawline. “That’s alright,” she said softly, hiding the disappointment in her voice the best she could. “I won’t push you to do anything you’re not ready for. We can keep things at your pace.”
Before you could answer, the door opened and your mother came into view. It seemed like she wanted to say something but the words got stuck in her mouth. You felt a shiver of embarrassment run down your spine and you pulled away from Vanessa’s warmth.
“Mom…” You said, sounding exasperated. She mumbled a quick apology, and then introduced herself to Vanessa. You stood there awkwardly while they talked. Vanessa smiled politely at your mom, side-eyeing you from time to time. When your mom offered her to come into the party, she declined gently.
“I have to go home and rest anyway; I have an early shift,” she shrugged, turning her head to face you.
You felt like she was giving you the chance to say something else, but you just nodded, uncomfortable.
She waved you and your mom goodbye and disappeared into the cold night.
"Why didn't you introduce us to your new girlfriend?" your mom asked a little accusingly. "She's not my girlfriend," you said, quickly brushing past her and making your way to your room. You heard her sigh loudly but you didn’t care, there was a lump forming on your throat.
As you collapsed on your bed, you started to wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just have kissed Vanessa instead of letting your insecurities win.
Tumblr media
You didn’t hear from Vanessa until a couple of days later. You were lying in bed, ruminating on your poor decision-making when she sent you a message.
‘Sorry for bailing on you.’
You jumped out of your bed, grabbing your phone to confirm that you weren't hallucinating. You read the message one, twice, thrice, and let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You hadn’t ruined everything after all.
You quickly texted her back and everything went back to how it was before.
You were still worried of saying or doing something that could push Vanessa away again. Not because she gave signs that it could happen, but because you were afraid that something like what happened with your ex could occur again.
Vanessa was way different from your last relationship. She was more accepting of your personality, your desires, your likes and dislikes, and most importantly, she was patient with you. So long as you didn't do something drastic, you believed that she would accept you. But that "something drastic" was always within the realm of possibility, wasn't it? That nagging thought loomed over you like a dark cloud waiting to rain down on your happiness.
Days passed, the insecurity of ruining things was still very present in your mind, even when you were hanging with Vanessa.
Vanessa could feel something was wrong. You seemed distracted and worried, but she couldn't pinpoint what exactly. She knew that your last relationship had been disastrous, but she had tried everything in her power to make you comfortable.
You couldn't help it. You were paranoid that one mistake could ruin everything. Vanessa's patience was thinning, she wanted to continue with whatever was going on between you she couldn't understand why you were still so reluctant. Maybe it was time to have a conversation. Vanessa knew you well, she knew you had a hard time expressing your feelings. But she also knew how important talking about this for the both of you.
She decided to make a last effort, and invite you to spend New Years Eve with her.
You accepted immediately.
She picked you up at your house, and you knew your mom would make embarrassing comments later with the way she looked at you before you closed the door.
You wouldn’t say it out loud, but you were glad Vanessa had thought you were worthy of spending the night with her. You smiled softly when you got in the car, and Vanessa’s eyes sparked with delight at the sight of you.
“So, where are we going?” You asked while you fastened your seat belt.
“It’s a surprise,” she chuckled, steering the car towards the main street.
She took you to a nice restaurant for dinner, and afterward, you both headed to the town center together.
She took you for a stroll in the park, where you walked in a tree-lined avenue.
You could feel her gaze on you, but you didn’t dare to meet her eyes. “Something is going on with you,” she said, and you took a deep breath.
“What makes you say that?”
Vanessa stopped on her tracks, and you did too. “What makes me say it?” She said, baffled. “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the fact that you’ve been acting like you need to be walking on eggshells everytime we see each other!”
You winced and looked away. She was right, and you knew it. The past days had been an emotional rollercoaster for the both of you. You couldn’t deny her logic, and you realized she was probably frustrated by your change of behavior.
"I just… I don’t want to make the same mistake again,” you whispered, gaze fixated on your shoes.
Her face softened.
"Sweetheart, there was never a mistake to begin with.”
Her words took you by surprise. She was so nonchalant about the worries that you’d been harboring that you felt like some of that weight was lifted off your shoulders. But not all of it.
“You don’t understand,” you said, a hint of desperation in your voice. “My last relationship– It ended so suddenly. She left, and I couldn’t do anything.” You let out a huge breath and closed your eyes. “I failed.”
Vanessa reached out to you, taking your hands in hers. You opened your eyes, but still looked away. “You didn’t fail,” she said softly.
“It takes two to make a relationship work, it’s not your fault.”
She knew that you thought the way your former relationship ended was all your fault. That you somehow fucked up and that had driven your ex away, but she also hoped that you would see things differently through her eyes.
“You don’t need to be perfect all the time, it’s okay to be yourself. It’s okay to let go.” She tried to convey in her voice her understanding. She knew the guilt and pain you were going through, and she wanted to help you let go of it.
Vanessa’s words felt warm, comforting. Her voice was so soft and soothing. But deep down, you really couldn’t let go of the thought that this could end up just like your last relationship.
But Vanessa was different, wasn’t she? You knew she actually liked you, with flaws, insecurities and all. The pain of being left behind left a deep wound on you, but with Vanessa the pain had started to fade away.
“Are you sure?” You asked, finally meeting her gaze after what had felt like ages.
She smiled at you, squeezing your hands. “Of course. Absolutely.” She licked her lips, thinking for a moment before speaking again. “You don’t need to worry about making some big mistake that will ruin what we have, I swear. You can be yourself around me. You deserve it.”
Her eyes sparkled with warmth, and love and the sudden surge of overwhelming relief was too much. You sighed, and leaned on her, burying your face against her shoulder. Vanessa chuckled as she wrapped her arms around you. It felt like the dark cloud hanging above your head was finally parting after the huge storm.
“So, what do you say?” She spoke softly. “Do you want to officially go on a date with me?”
She pulled away to look at you, “Maybe tomorrow, at that café down the street from your parent’s house?”
You smiled, “why not count this as a date?” You offered, and she beamed.
“I’d love that.”
She brushed a strand of loose hair behind your ear and your heart skipped a beat. She glanced at your lips while licking hers, and finally asked. “Can I kiss you?”
You gave her a nervous smile, and nodded.
It was gentle, but firm, like she wanted to make sure it felt good, that it felt right. It lingered, maybe for a few seconds more than necessary, but you understood. She had been yearning for you for a while, and it felt amazing to be that close to her.
“I assume I can keep kissing you after this?” She whispered against your mouth and you laughed, shoving her playfully.
“You most definitely can,” you answered, rolling your eyes.
She bit her lip, and took your hand. “Come, people are starting to gather in the town’s square.”
“The town’s square? Is that the surprise?”
“Yep,” she gave you a cocky smile and you felt like kissing her off of her face.
You followed her giddily through the crowd. A lot of people were already gathered there. “What is this? New York?” You murmured and that drew a laugh out of Vanessa.
“You’ll see,” she said, squeezing your hand.
You two finally arrived at the front of the crowd, to what appeared to be a huge tripod made of wood, holding a bell.
“A bell?” You asked, incredulously.
“They make the bell ring twelve times when midnight arrives,” she explained as you frowned.
“This didn’t happen when we were younger,” and she shook her hear. “It’s a new thing,” she chuckled. “It’s supposed to attract more tourists.”
You scratched your head, “is it working?”
She turned to face you, giving you a huge grin. “Nope!”
You laughed, leaning onto her shoulder. The square began to get incredibly crowded, so you held Vanessa’s hand more tightly.
The noise and the cheers were starting to get louder as midnight approached, and you both gazed up to the contraption.
Maybe this wasn’t some extravagant New Year celebration like in the city where you lived, but being next to Vanessa, surrounded by her warmth definitely made it feel special. And when midnight struck and they rang the bell, you stood on your tiptoes to kiss her again.
Maybe this year would be better.

Steve Harrington x Reader
summary: The cheerleading and boy's basketball coaches are the talk of Hawkins High. When they can't seem to put two and two together, the students have to take matter into their own hands to get the pair together.
warnings: fluff. Steve and reader are both in their 20s. gender/body size/ethnicity are not discussed (the name of the fic was simply picked based off of one line). a little cameo from our favorite metal head. a bit sappy but who cares. idiots in love. we stan the students in this fic, they were doin god's work frfr. also modern au! spelling errors/shitty writing, i'm sick so forgive me for any mistakes lmao.
*if i miss anything please let me know*
a/n: As we all know, today would have been the last day of Honey's birthday bash. That was the plan my friends but bc of party festivities, hangovers, and now a bad cold, we are now behind on schedule. Thank you all for hanging in there with me :) I hope you all enjoy this, love you bunches!
Tumblr media
The whole school is rolling fake dice.
Tumblr media
Whispers traveled through the echo chamber hallways, bets being placed with the shaking of hands, and gossip being passed back and forth in the lunchroom like a breadbasket at dinner. All anyone could talk about was the two coaches that were blind to their own attraction to one another.
Unbeknownst to you and Steve, you guys were in the middle of a storm of circulating rumors since the beginning of the season. From the moment you two met all hell broke loose, a wildfire spreading through the classrooms of the school.
Everyone could see how much you liked each other, it was so clear like the scoreboard that shined brightly in the gym, except for you. The perfect love story, the cheerleader and jock, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
It started as a game between the cheerleaders and the basketball players, betting on who would break first and finally make it official. Soon it became a game amongst the rest of the student body, all of them biting at their nails and crossing their fingers in the hope that one of you would crack.
To everyone's disappointment, neither of you ever did. It was exhausting watching the two of you dance around your clear feelings for one another. The two of you tried to play it cool, act like any of the accusations were just that, accusations. But it was there, bright as day, on display for the whole world to see.
It was in the way your eyes would find each other's in a crowded room, feather light touches that would linger for way too long, shy smiles and rosy cheeks. The way you talked to one another was anything but two people who worked together. It was teasing, flirty, and breathless any time you talked.
There was a big wager for this whole thing, which team would win the biggest check and which one would have to fork over all the money. The cheerleaders and half of the school had their money on Steve, his reputation as a ladies man helping them with their decision. The basketball team and the other half of the school bet on you, knowing you were more outspoken then he is.
Now it's been months since the bets were placed but neither of you finally crossed over the line from friends to lovers. So the cheerleaders did what they do best, they rallied everyone on their side, made a plan that would guarantee their win.
Winter formal was only a week away, both of you were sure to chaperone without a date. So the cheerleaders got to work, making sure their plan would be executed flawlessly.
Tumblr media
Phase #1: Plant the seeds
Two loud knocks against the heavy wood door of Steve's office bring him out of his computer screen. Shouting a come in, he's met with the sight of the student council president, Lauren McPhee who holds a white paper.
"Sorry to bother you but I need this form filled out for the dance next week!" She's too chipper for a Monday morning, smiling brightly like the sun that hangs in the cold December sky.
"Oh yeah, let me just get a pen." Wheeling back on his desk chair, Steve begins to pat his shirt while looking around at his cluttered desk for the writing instrument.
Once he snatches the ballpoint pen from under the stack of papers, Steve grabs the flimsy sheet from Lauren's hand and scribbles down his signature on every empty line.
"Alrighty, there you go." With a tight lipped smile, he hands it back to the nice girl.
Steve watches as her eyes flit over the paper, flipping it front to back to make sure everything is filled out properly. When her features twist in confusion he can't help but wonder why.
"Everything look good?" He questions and she shakes her head while still reading over the curled letters of his name.
"Y-yeah, it's just," pulling her lip between her teeth, Lauren begins to chew on it anxiously, "the section for your date has been left blank. Excuse me if I'm crossing a line here, coach, but you're not bringing a date?"
Her voice is sympathetic, lips pulled into a deep from and her eyes sparkling with pity as she looks at the older man. Steve isn't sure why she seems so upset about him going alone or why it would be a problem, but when she looks at him like a dog that's been kicked he feels the need to answer.
"Oh, well I don't really have anyone to take. Plus it's more important for me to be paying attention to the punch bowl to make sure no asshole- I mean jerk, spikes it." With a forced laugh, he waits to see if his answer is enough to suffice the girl's curiosity.
"O-oh that makes sense I guess, I just though maybe you and the cheerleading coach would go together. You know cause they're also going alone and from what they told me, they never been to their winter formal before." Shrugging, the girl moves her sights from him back to the paper.
"They told you that?" Steve's answer is met with a hesitant nod from the girl. "I-I didn't know that." He breathes.
"At least they'll finally be able to go, right?" Again she shrugs, pulling a folder from her bag to put the paper away.
"Wait!" It comes out louder than he expected, cringing slightly at his volume. "Can I hold onto that and then had it in later?"
"Sure! I'll be back on Wednesday." A sunny smile shines at him, the white paper being passed back to him. "See you then, coach."
Waving him goodbye, Lauren shuts the door behind her where the cheerleaders wait for her. With a singular thumbs up, they begin to jump with joy only for a moment before moving on to phase two.
Tumblr media
Phase #2: Destroy the band room
Now destruction of school property was not something any student was willing to get written up for, but with the help of an adult maybe they wouldn't have to.
Mr. Munson was the band instructor and drama teacher, as well as Steve Harrington's right hand man. Before he was an educator, Eddie Munson menaced these halls for many years. Before getting his act together and after he quit selling weed to the students in the woods, he worked as an apprentice for a while, following a plumber around for months while he went to college for education.
"Mr. Munson come on, don't you want to see your bestie finally get a happy ending?" Karissa Thomas batted her eyelashes at him as she begged for his help.
"I don't know guys, I could get into a lot of trouble." Rubbing his forehead, Eddie sighs as he weighs out his options in his head.
"Think of it this way, you can finally give principle Higgins the finger. At least metaphorically." Anthony Whitmer adds.
"Plus, we'll give you some of the profits." Mark, another band kid pleads from the group.
Eddie leans against his desk wide eyed, smirking slightly at his band students. Who knew they would be so devious.
"Fuck it, I'm in." The group before him shout in victory while Eddie laughs devilishly. Somethings never changes, he thinks.
So this morning when he arrived at school, Eddie made sure that no one was around when he began fucking with the pipes. After about twenty minutes and sore upper arms, he finally succeeds by springing a leak.
When he reported the leak to principle Higgins, he was met with a side eye before getting the approval of the gym slot after school, which meant you and your team would be forced to share with Harrington and his team until it got fixed.

Phase #3: Offer planning services to coach Harrington
Now to bring this whole plan together, cheer captains Dan Morrison and Amber Hall needed to be in the same place at the same time as Steve Harrington. The only problem was his office and where he usually occupied the most was the east wing of the school. The east wing was the closest to his office and it was the least traveled hallways out of the whole school.
That meant they needed to make it look like they were that way for a reason. Luckily for them, the art room was also in the east wing, so they would make it look like they were grabbing poster boards for last minute winter formal posters.
Lunch time was the best time to put this into motion, so the minute the 11:50 bell rang, Dan and Amber sprinted to the east wing in the hopes they would catch him.
After rummaging around for glitter, markers, and poster boards, the two waited at the door, peaking over the frame in the hopes to catch the older man. When the door of his office opened, the two seniors began to walk out of the room talking about random things to not make it look so obvious.
In the hopes of sparking a conversation with him, Amber dropped the container of markers causing colorful pens to fall all over the hard floor.
"Amber, I told you not to drop them!" Dan laughs, putting the white posters to the floor in order to pick up the rolling markers.
"You made me laugh!" The girl argues back, laughing loudly as she crouches to help.
"I didn't even do anything." He replies, making the girl laugh even harder at his comment.
The echo of Steve's heavy footsteps could be heard by both teenagers, but they ignore it so he wouldn't catch on.
"You guys cool?" Steve asks, crouching down to help pick up what fell.
"H-hi coach," Amber greets, catching her breath from her heavy laughter, "We're okay, Dan just made me drop these."
The boy in question huffs and rolls his eyes playfully, continuing his actions of gathering the rest of what's on the floor.
"So what are you guys doing with all this, anyway?" Steve asks, pushing off on his knees to stand.
"Oh, just last minute posters for the dance." Dan says nonchalantly as he gathers his pile of supplies.
"You're going, right?" The young girl asks and Steve responds with a small sigh, fingers pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Yeah I'll be there." Nodding his head, the man places his hands on his hips looking at the two kids in front of him.
"That's fun! Are you bringing a date?" Amber wiggles her eyebrows.
Shoving her playfully, Dan looks at her with a gasp. "Oh my gosh, Amber you can't just ask that. Sorry, coach." Doing his best to look sympathetic, Dan offers his best smile to the older man.
"It's okay, Dan," Steve places a hand out, looking at the brown haired boy, "Actually, I was wondering if you guys could help me with that."
"Sure!" The cheerleaders agree in unison.
"Let's talk about this in my office." Pointing a thumb to the end of the hall, spinning of the ball of his foot to lead the way.
Steve defiantly doesn't see how bright both of the teen's smiles are from where they walk behind him and he surely doesn't see them giving each other a high five.

Phase #4: Get you to go to the parking lot before practice
This phase was probably the hardest of them all. You were very keen on punctuality, always the first to be at the building to make sure everything was set up. Now that you'd be sharing the gym with the basketball team, you were more than likely to be there a whole lot earlier than usual.
Now this is where the most important players come in, Lauren Hernandez and Simon Carter. The two freshmen were bright stars at Hawkins High, the leading members of the mathletes and very trust worthy students.
When this whole plan started it was known that they'd need someone who was convincing to divert your attention, so the two meek students volunteered without a second thought. The amount of money they'd win if coach Harrington made the first move was way more important than credibility at this point.
When they spotted you coming through the outside gym door, the two kids began to put on their show. Rushing through the two gymnasium doors, Lauren and Simon pant acting as if they ran a mile.
"C-coah, we need-" Simon bends over, bracing his hands on his knees while breathing heavily, "We need your help!"
You immediately drop your bags, sprinting over to the two youths. Worry is written all over your face, eyes immediately checking for any visible injuries on them.
"I-is everything okay? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Placing a hand on your chest, you wait for them to catch their breath.
"There's a fight outside. Max Newman and Devon Lewis are fighting in the parking lot." Lauren rushes out, eyes wide and glassy under the gym lights.
You're more than shocked at the news, the two boys have been great friends the whole time you've coached them. In a flash, you urge both kids to get coach Harrington from his office while you break up the fight.
What you don't know is neither Simon or Lauren have to get him, waiting until the slam of the heavy gym door both run after you to make sure they don't miss a single moment.
Rushing through the entrance doors, the cold winter chill instantly hits you but you don't pay too much attention to it when there isn't a fight happening.
When you walk outside, you see your team of cheerleaders lined up on both sides of the steps, a red rose in each hand. As you walk, they hand them to you, bright smiles on each of their faces when they do.
You can't speak with the amount of confusion that runs through your brain. Even though you want to ask them what all of this is about, you just let your feet carry you out into the parking lot.
You jump slightly when you hear Wildest Dreams being play, the only difference is the band kids stand off to the side with their instruments. Giggling slightly, you imagine Eddie Munson teaching his kids a Taylor Swift song but Bridgerton style.
With a bundle of roses in hand, you continue out into the snow covered parking lot. Under the street lights you see him standing with his hands in his pockets. Behind him stands some of the drama kids, holding big white posters. Taking a moment to read the blue and silver lettering, you gasp when it finally hits you.
F O R M A L ?
Tears prick your eyes and not just because of the cold winter wind. The thought and dedication that went into this must've taken so much (more than both of you even realize), you're heart beaming with the thought of Steve putting this together.
"So what do you say, coach? Will you do me the honors of being my date to the dance?" Steve's cheeks are red and his teeth glimmer under the florescent lights.
You can't help but let more tears fall, all of the pining and wishing finally coming true under the darken sky, right where the two of you first met. It feels too good too be true, a real life fairytale happening in real time.
"Of course I will." It comes out loud enough for only him to hear, the two of you looking at each other in adoration.
In a split moment, Steve's strong hands pull you in and wrap you in the tightest hug, something you dreamt of all this time. Even in the cold temperatures, his body heat, his touch holds the heat of a thousand suns.
The roaring cheer of all of those around you, besides the band who continue to play, fills the open air. You and Steve are so wrapped up in each other you don't even notice the flash of the camera, Andrew Johnson of the yearbook committee getting multiple shots of the whole thing.
Pulling back enough to look at one another, you smile brightly up at him. Steve looks so pretty like this, cherry nose, snow flurries collecting in his eyelashes and hair, and a smile so sweet it could rot your teeth.
"I can't believe you did all of this." You say with a laugh, shaking your head in amazement.
Chuckling slightly, he looks down bashfully at you. "Yeah well, I had some help." The two of your look all around the parking lot where multiple students stand, all from different clubs, groups, and social brackets beam and cheer for the two of you.
The two of you turn back to one another, gooey looks on both of your faces and love filling your eyes. "Who would've thought." You say breathlessly and he agrees.
"Can I kiss you?" It's breathless and hopeful when Steve says it, and you're answer is just as breathless.
Connecting his lips to yours felt like two puzzle pieces fitting together, it's feels like home, and it feels right. Like a snow globe, you and Steve are frozen for just a moment under the December snow.

You’ve made many interesting decisions in your life. Some of them causing you to lose the only all you’ve ever had. This, however. This is new. This is different for you. Dancing with a man who made you hyperventilate only a week prior. A man who you can’t be in a room with for more than five seconds before becoming infuriated.
God, your head is spinning.
Your heels feel too tight now, your dress too stuffy and scratchy. You need to change everything, including your rose print panties. You’re not thinking of anything else other than the doors as you push through the crowd.
Only this time? You actually make it out, away from him.
The December chill greets you viciously, like an old friend scorned. Oh, you forgot your sweater inside. It wasn’t on your mind. Your dress is not enough to keep you warm, so you create one with the hug of your arms against your ice bathed body.
The chill turns your nose pink, alongside the apples of your cheeks. Gusts of December’s breath are like harsh slashes against your supple skin.
It’s so terribly cold that you can see each and every exhale that leaves you, your breaths tangling in the air for your gaze to follow. The cold hurts your eyes, as do the faint streetlights that look like blurred watercolor from where you stand. You hide them.
It’s only until your eyes shift from being squeezed tightly shut to opening that you realize how truly drunk you are right now.
Oh…
You need to get home, the stars in the sky are spinning and your head is pounding. You’re so nauseous, so tired. Jagged rocks meet your palm as you steady yourself upon the wall. You can’t decipher where you are. The street signs seem so far away, but the stop sign is close and it’s doing pirouettes before your very eyes.
Did you take the wrong exit?
Oh you must have, no wonder there’s no crowd. Regardless, it doesn’t matter right now. A taxi will have to stop by eventually.
The chill makes you shiver, nails digging into your arms as your teeth chatter. You don’t think you can stay upright for much longer without emptying dry cereal and free alcohol onto the concrete. Your back falls against the jagged rocks.
You’re bound to be beyond hungover when sunrise greets you, you’ll dwell over what you ran from no doubt. The thought is already plaguing you. You tilt your head back, watching your breaths float all the way up to the sky.
You feel it far too much now. What you were chasing away with the dancing. God, why did you drink this much?
You attempt a weak whistle, hoping a taxi man will take the wrong exit too. None do. Cars pass you by, probably amused by how pathetic you must look trying to keep yourself upright against the rocky wall.
You need to sit down, you’re about to faint.
“Hey hey, you alright?”
Your eyes snap open, body doing its best to straighten up as a stranger with two heads and bodies comes to your sights. Sight.
You don’t know.
“Oh yeah yeah, m’ fine.. just waiting for a cab.”
The man smells of boxed beer, and he looks scruffy even in double vision. Both pairs of his eyes are glistening for a reason you’re unaware of, and his voice seems so far away. Even so, your body knows he’s close. His hands— donned in itchy gloves, they fall upon your elbows.
“Come on sweetie, I’ll take you back home.
Before you get the chance to inhale a breath so you may protest, the man slides an arm round your lower back, pulling you off the rocks. Oh, he really does smell like beer. Your eyes are glazed over with tequila’s hold on your stability, but they still wander upon his features to find that he’s missing a tooth.
The handsy one, from earlier. The one Cindy scared away.
“Wait I know— know you.” You attempt, a hiccup breaking apart your sentence into two. You find yourself stumbling as he tugs you a bit further now and with a bit more force. He’s quiet, focused. Rushing.
You don’t like this.
He’s so sweaty, so close. His skin upon your own, it’s nauseating. Perhaps he’s getting the wrong message. You’ll just be kind.
“Oh no no it’s okay mister— I have a cab it’s coming.”
He’s not listening.
Your breaths get a bit quicker now, more panicked as realization begins to settle in. He’s taking you. Even though you know this, you can’t find the energy to form more words. To tell him to stop— to do anything.
Your body stumbles alongside his and you try to plant your heels into the concrete divots but he’s far too quick and far too big.
He’s stronger than you.
His car is worn and adorned with tinted windows.
“What are you doi-” Your speech is slurred, he interrupts you.
“Shut up.” It’s all he says as he opens the paint-chipped door. Your heart is pounding fast, banging against its bone cages. If it could, it would leap right from your throat.
And god— you are so sleepy, but fear won’t let your eyes rest. It’s all so quick and sudden. You hear the same metal doors you escaped from close, you jump. He doesn’t spare them a glance; he’s trying to push you into the back seat with even more urgency now.
“Wait— n-no.” You whisper as your trembling, numb fingertips which must be frost bitten by now, shoot up to grasp the snow fallen metal; attempting to keep your body out from the car. Though he is relentless. He pushes harder, you fall in.
Your head presses against the cool leather, body laid out long ways in the back seat of his dirty vehicle. It smells even worse than him. There are cigarette buds on the carpet, and empty beer cans in the seat pockets. You’re so drained, you could just close your eyes right now. But you feel his own gaze, looking over you.
You can’t give into it, not right now. You won’t.
Your mind is on autopilot, dazed by the shots you downed. Your body? It’s trained. You try to sit up but he immediately pushes you back down with a calloused and rough palm. His gloves are off now.
“But my cab mister… I gotta leave n’ I gotta-”
You hear a grunt, and in one swift motion— toothless is snatched back from where he once stood over you. The car creaks and shifts with force as he’s slammed up against it and in a spout of adrenaline, you shoot up— body steadying itself by leaning against the door.
Oh, woah… what a nightmare. Two Miguel O’Haras— and both of them have picked this overweight man up off of his feet.
Wait—
You blink lazily, watching as Mr. O’Hara— er a guy who really looks like him, drags the one-gloved man to the same jagged wall you once leaned up against. Your eyes watch through the tinted window as he slams him against it, sharp teeth bared like an animal while his veins protrude.
Must suck to be that guy.
You know what it’s like to be cased up against a wall while he’s angry with you. While his jaw is tense and his eyes are wild and overflowing the brim with fury.
Why is he so angry?
You hear his voice, far far away.
“Te gusta aprovecharte de las chicas? Eh, cabrón? Tienes suerta de que no te arranque el resto de los dientes de la boca…”
Something about his mouth. Something about his nauseating ways. If it were any other girl, this would be chivalrous. Maybe he just feels pity for you. The thought makes you wince.
The toothless man, his eyes are wide as he shakes his head back and forth. Panicked, frightened and desperate.
“Come on man, I don’t know what you’re saying! I don’t understand!” He’s pleading with a madman.
You don’t know how it’s possible, but Miguel drags him even further up the wall with just the strength of his arms alone. He does have big arms…
The jagged rocks slide into his tan skin, slicing it open until crimson pours from the fresh wounds— making him cry out.
Mr. O’Hara’s voice is low now, scarier. He speaks through clenched teeth.
“Understand this. If I see your face here again, I’m gonna bludgeon it. Get out of my club.”
His club?
You can’t unpack the idea of it, the door suddenly isn’t enough to keep you upright. You huff as you fall back against the cold leather. It smells of cigarettes and sex in here. It’s nauseating.
You can’t feel your feet, the chill has eaten away at them too. Faint footsteps kiss the worn pavement— closer and closer but you’re too unavoidably tired now to move from them. You can hear your own heart pound, hear each breath muffled in your pink-kissed ears.
You hope the toothless man doesn’t come back. Maybe he already has… maybe you’ve already fallen asleep, maybe you’re just dreaming.
No. The scent of firewood and bourbon is an entirely new and undiscovered sensation to the rest of the world— singular to you, it has recently become. Far too vivid and warm to simply exist in a state of your slumber.
“Dios mío…” he whispers for only the night to hear, for the wind to take with it.
Warmth, familiar and baffling wraps around your ankle. He tugs your body to him with ease, but your dress lifts. You’re not wearing anything but your soft, rosy panties beneath it.
Your eyes fall shut, lashes fanning upon your skin— hearing an echoed noise from the back of his throat. He smells more of bourbon than firewood today. He’s been drinking too.
He doesn’t tug again.
“Vente, cariño.” His voice, it sends a shiver up the base of your spine. So filled with heat, honey and silk even in this horrid weather.
Maybe your mind wants to stay right where it is, not by choice but rather impairment. Yet one command from him and your body complies, unsteadily forcing you to sit upright. You practically slump right over when you do.
He robs his shoulders of his navy coat— but it’s not like he will suffer much without it. He must have an internal heater built within his chest. He wraps the soft material around you tight. It’s far too big, it engulfs you.
When you’re close enough to him, he reaches his arms around you. God— so warm. Mm, and he smells intoxicating. Intoxicating enough to forget the events of the week prior, and even the events of tonight. Yes, he’s a stranger. Kind and chivalrous. Sweeping you away to keep you warm.
Beyond the firewood and bourbon, he smells of spices. Strong and sultry in his hair. You’re up in his arms in a swift movement, so high up from the ground where he always towers over the rest of the world. You understand now why he feels so powerful all the time.
He holds you in a fireman’s cradle, your face buried in his neck. It’s heated there too, and you don’t have the strength or energy to part from it.
His leather shoe kicks the car door shut with force— annoyance. No— anger.
“Man I’m sorry again I-”
“Cállate.” He practically hisses. The stranger complies, quick footsteps hurrying off.
You’re so exhausted, and he’s so cozy. Just a quick nap, maybe. You’ll have plenty of time to feel embarrassment tomorrow. Not now. No— you’re just so drained right now. Not just from the shots, but the feelings. The dance, the gaze, the intensity. You’ve had enough for one night.
Your soft breaths kiss the place where his pulse rises and falls, body moving in a soft sway with each commanding step he takes. A singular metal door creaks open.
“Thank you, Cindy.”
“Yes sir, of course. Everything is in there— her keys, wallet, phone. She left her sweater too, but we can’t seem to find that…”
“She doesn’t need it, I’ll get her home.”
“Sir…”
The door slams shut— and no other words are spoken, you only feel movement. You only hear breaths. His… and maybe your own. Though they are softer now, your heart doesn’t pound as loudly. Your breathing is drastically different. His is laced with the remnants of his fury, and yours is only laced with your peace.
He must feel on top of the world, so high up like this. His feet pound against the pavement, it echoes in your ears. The soft hiss of tires rolling against pebble halts at the curb. Another different set of footsteps open the car door and scurry to open another. Mr. O’Hara approaches and you’re immediately placed inside. The seats are warm, heated you think— and the car smells of him. Far different from the one you were once inside of.
Your seatbelt is fastened, hair brushed away from where it tickles your face. The warmth, it’s as if you’re a child again— aching from the harshness of the icy world until steamed milk is offered to you. The feeling lulls you— and it isn’t long before your eyes fall shut.
Just for a little while, that’s all…
Then? You’re fast asleep…

You always wondered what your life would amount to. Who would you marry? Would you have kids? How would you die? These questions would keep you up at night breaking into a small cold sweat.
Now you were older and “married” to a man who loves and appreciates you, everything was ignorant bliss but you couldn’t ignore the sharp pang of reality in your gut.
Soft snow fell softly outside, the dark night sky offering you no comfort, you and Suguru’s now shared room, the way his dark cold room slowly filled with more of your little things was comforting. Light purple satin pillows decorated your side of the bed, your separate bin of laundry and a small pile of scrunchies and hair ties on his bedside cabinet.
You sat on the bed clad in your Suguru’s oversized gray sweatshirt, you kept your ears open for the sound of his soft voice cooing you to him a haunting lullaby really but it didn’t come, what time did he say he’d be home? You kept positive despite being left in the dark about everything, no one walked the halls of the estate. He would come back soon right? Yeah he would! You tried to keep positive even though your gut told you otherwise.
You let out a shaky sigh laying down on Suguru’s side of the bed, you convinced him to get satin pillowcases for his comfort and his hair you remember busting out in laughter when you saw him try on a satin bonnet. These memories made you worried as your nose inhaled his scent, you’ll never forget his scent.
“Come back Sugu..” you mumbled, wrapping your arms around his pillow as you felt yourself fall into a deep slumber, hopefully you would wake up to his strong arms pulling you into a warm embrace.
sunlight peered through the window, a blaring alarm for you to wake up, you let out a groggy groan as your arm stretched to the cold empty side of the bed. Hmm.. maybe he didn’t wanna wake you up? You sat up rubbing your eyes as you tried your best to focus your vision, December 25th.. hopefully he was home for Christmas. You stood up preparing to stretch before hearing light whispers coming from behind the door.
Your eyes lit up and your heart raced, he really did come back! Running to the door you opened it expecting to see your amber eyed husband standing with a smile and an apology, instead you were met with the tired eyes of his assistant, Manami dried tear stains very evident on her cheeks. Oh God..
your stomach churned and your throat closed, something had happened what had happened? Before you could ask she answered for you, “I'm sorry.. Mr. Geto..” her lip trembled as a warm tear trickled down her cheek, “He- he didn’t make it,”
your heart shattered as you gripped the door handle threatening to break the bones in your hand, “where is he?” You mumbled.
“We can’t-“
“Where is he?” You asked again, tears falling quicker from your eyes.
“We don’t have his body.”
“What the hell do you mean?!” Your voice raised in anger as you glared at her trying to resist the urge to lash out.
“Jujutsu high took his body, it’d be too dangerous to try to retrieve it-“
SLAM!
The door was slammed closed as you made your way back to the bed sobs and sniffles coming out, his death was your confirmed theory.
You couldn’t be happy in this world.
it had been two weeks since Suguru Geto’s death, ringing in the new year with pain, the halls had been quiet, everyone looked to you but you couldn’t lead them. You harbored no cursed energy leading this group would be a big joke, they offered you an ultimatum. You were free to leave no strings attached, you just couldn’t show your face around here again.
you took the offer
Your few bags were packed sitting on the bed, you sighed rubbing your eyes tiredly as you took one of your last glances at the room. Reminders of you t fully scalped just an empty husk of a room once again, you couldn’t stand this room, it smelled of him, it reeked of him. Thankfully the cult offered you some money to get on your feet, a small apartment waiting for you in Tokyo.
Your fingers played with the frayed ends of your his sweatshirt, one more walk through the garden couldn’t hurt. You set your mind to it hastily making your way outside, nothing remained constant in the garden, showcasing the growth and rebirth of your life here. An exasperated breath left your lips a small cloud of your warm breath wafted out as you sat down on the bench. This would be the last time you’ll ever see this place again.
You should’ve cherished his last touch, his last kiss.. the last time you’d place your ear to his chest to fall asleep to his heartbeat, lost in thought you didn’t notice the figure staring at you.
“You’re y/n l/n right?”
Your attention was bought by the voice, you didn’t look up too urgently, you were honestly too exhausted to care at this point, when your eyes set on the figure your breath was knocked out of you.
a tall man around 6’3, hair as pure as the snow that fell the night before and white bandages delicately laced around his eyes, was this? Your mind flashed to the photograph you found in Suguru’s drawer, this had to be him.
You nodded slowly out of disbelief and a smirk appeared on his face, “I’m guessing you know about me.” a low chuckle erupted from him as we walked to you slowly. “I can’t stay long, I’m afraid my cursed energy is too strong.” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“Why are you here?” Your eyes scanned his body as the smile faded from his face, “I’m Satoru Gojo, I knew your husband.. he was my..friend.”
a scoff came out of your mouth as you sneered at the comment, “Oh really? Friendly enough to not let his family view his body.. some fucking friend you are.” Angry and greed had consumed you leaving a husk of the very little person you were.
Satoru said nothing, his look stoic, you couldn’t tell what he was thinking, eyes obscured from your view. “Suguru attacked us first on our own turf, I know you probably will never understand.. but we can’t take that liability.”
You kept your gaze low, the familiar feeling of tears starting to well, “Why’d you c-come here?” Your hands trembled watching your tears fall into the snow.
“He mentioned you before he-“ Satoru stopped himself, maybe it was better to not tell you exactly how he died, “before he died, he wanted you to know he loved and cared for you..” he moved slowly sitting down next to you, “the assholes in there didn’t even want you to live, but Suguru expressed you were off limits, he’s the one who left you that apartment.”
Your head shot up quickly to look at him, “How did you-“
“You think those asses would leave you with money and an apartment?” A playful smirk appeared on his face, “I promised Suguru, I'd do my best to protect you” after all we both loved him.
Your face was a hot mess, tears everywhere and snot making an appearance from your nose from the cold. “O-okay..”
He stood up offering his hand to you, “Let's get going before a fight breaks out,” you nodded, standing up and wiping your tears.
Satoru stood as far away from the premises as possible, he watched you walk towards him as you tried your best to weakly smile. “Let's go,” you said tiredly and all Satoru could do was nod.
You had purposely left something behind, sitting on the bed neatly folded was your light pastel pink kimono you wore when you first met him.
You left the room as it remained just a piece of you remained.

the 3th of December
Héctor Fort x reader based on Heather by Conan Gray warnings: angst, misscommunications
I still remember the third of December, me in your sweater You said it looked better on me than it did you
3/12/2022
You and Hector had been friends for almost your entire lives, so it wasn’t unusual for the both of you to spend time together. Everyone in your life was always telling you how perfect you’d be for each other and recently you had started more like a couple with Hector although you didn’t put a label on it and it never came up in conversations so when Hector gave you his sweater on the third of december, you swore your heart was going to burst. You wore it for weeks on end after it, every time you did, taking in his smell. He smelled perfect to you and it soon turned into your favorite scent.
Only if you knew how much I liked you
From that day on you really started developing feelings for him but you were too scared to admit them to him so you kept silent. For you the glances, the hugs and the quick kisses were enough for now, but truth to be told you wanted more, you wanted there to be a label since you weren’t the only girl that had your eyes on him.
But I watch your eyes as she walks by What a sight for sore eyes Brighter than the blue sky She's got you mesmerized while I die
You didn’t really remember when everything changed but you did know why, it was because of her. Heather, even the name made your heart churn with heartbreak, she was a transfer student from America and the second Hector saw her it was over for you. The girl truly was everything you could only dream to be, beautiful long, straight blonde hair and gorgeous ocean blue eyes. Hector was mesmerized by her, looking at her like she put the stars in the sky whilst you watched him look at her. The way he looked at her made you want to die, everything hurt when he was around her. All the hope you had in ever being official with Hector was shattered the first of September but still you kept holding on.
Why would you ever kiss me? I'm not even half as pretty You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester But you like her better
3/12/2023
Any hope you had left was now six feet under as you looked at Hector and Heather, she was wearing the same sweater he had given you just a year prior. You truly didn’t know how he could’ve ever wanted you and why he had kissed you so many times because in your eyes you could never even come close to Heather or the other girls that wanted him. He gave her his sweater, whispering the same words he had whispered to you. The sweater was just made out of ordinary polyester but when you looked at him looking at her you knew the difference, he looked at her with love, he had never looked at you like that. He liked her better and you could see and understand why but that didn’t make it hurt any less.
Wish I were Heather
After that day you became distant to Hector, almost never replying to his texts, not interacting with him anywhere, it truly was like you hadn’t been friends since you were in diapers. It felt confusing to Hector so during your annual Christmas dinner, which he attended with Heather he confronted you.
“Why are you ignoring me all of a sudden?” He asks you, already looking agitated as you stand there with a glass of red wine in your hand, you truly look beautiful, a gorgeous cherry red, silky dress hugging your body perfectly, your make-up looked flawless and to anyone you looked breathtaking but not to Hector or at least that’s what you thought.
“I’m not.” Your voice is cold and distant and you give him a weirded out look as you reply, obviously you know what he’s talking about but you don’t want to talk about it. Now he looks angered and he takes a step forward, making you take a step back. He frowns in confusion because you never used to do that. “Why are you lying to me?” He asks you, desperately wanting to know what’s going on because even though he didn’t show it in the months that just passed he still cares about you and your friendship.
“I’m not.” You tell him in the same monotone voice as before. Oh, how badly you wanted to tell him why you had been ignoring him but you didn’t because you didn’t want to ruin it for him.
A boy approaches you from behind and puts his hands on your hips and you turn around, your face lighting up when you see who’s holding you. You look at the boy with so much love and he does the same to you, Hector feels his heart break and he backs away, back to Heather who’s wearing a plain blue dress.
The four hearts of the teenagers are all broken, yours had broken months before, Heather’s had broken when seeing the way Hector looked at you whilst confronting you, Hector’s had broken once seeing your face light up when looking at the boy you had brought with you and Ivan, the boy you had brought with you, had his heart broken when he saw the heartbreak in your eyes when looking at Hector, knowing that deep down you still loved the brunet.
If only you and Hector hadn’t been so blind…
~~~~~~~~~~~
Dedicated to today since i'm single af and because i haven't gotten a sweater from anyone this year (i really wished rugby boy would give me his but he's in England and i'm in Belgium so it's basically impossible unless he sent it with the post weeks in advance but we're not even together and he doesn't know my adress so also impossible)
I hope all of you aren't going through too much heartbreak and i wish every single one of you a sweater from a guy
anti romantic - choi yeonjun smau
prologue : i don’t believe in being romantic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis : anti romantic, college student choi yeonjun who thinks he’s seen everything in a relationship, promising himself that he won’t go through another relationship ever again to prevent himself from going through another heartbreak. that was until he sees yn, a classmate, chasing his heart. will his walls be enough to scare yn away, or will they continue chasing yeonjun with all they have ?
slightly suggestive, themes of cheating, swearing, sad jjunie :((
Tumblr media
the sky was painted black, it was like a canvas, a black background with little flicks of white paint, the half moon adding diversity into the plain sky. yeonjun’s tears drying from the slight cold, december breeze, his breath appearing right in front of him. the tip of his nose turning red, just how many times was he going to go through an absolute heartbreak. he didn’t want to go through it again, the pain in his chest, the hoarseness in his throat that he felt after breaking down. he hated it. why ? why was this happening to him ? he just wanted to live happily with the person he adored the most, was that too much to ask for
“oh, hyung, why are you crying ?” yeonjun turned his torso around, the metal bench that he was sitting on only sent more shivers down his spine. the small jacket that he had on was not doing enough to protect him from the cold, he couldn’t blame the jacket, but he could blame himself. although it was just the closest jacket he had at the moment. he could still see the scene as if it was still happening in front of him.
“oh love, i’m here..” yeonjun yelled out, throwing his jacket to the side, tilting his head side to side as an attempt to crack his neck, his hand coming up to his shoulder, massaging the skin. he couldn’t wait to lay in bed with yoojung, they had been seeing each other for nearly a year.
yeonjun couldn’t help but feel a bit iffy about the fact that he hadn’t received a response back from yoojung, she nearly always was awake at the time that he got back from his dance lessons, where he actually taught kids in the city to dance, he volunteered to do it, he just loved seeing kids doing something that they enjoyed to do.
his feet led him to the bedroom, checking to see if yoojung was still awake. although he regretted his actions as soon as he opened the door, spotting his girlfriend under the covers with another man, his lips pressed against hers, the sheets covering their bodies. yeonjun couldn’t help but feel his breath quicken. he wasn’t sure what to do, was he meant to quietly leave and just breakup with yoojung the following day, or is he meant to breakup with her on the spot. but he didn’t have the time to be thinking about that, his mind just did what he thought was an appropriate reaction.
“what the fuck, yoojung !” he yelled, brows furrowed, yoojung’s head turned towards yeonjun, in absolute shock that she’d been caught. she had done her best to keep all of it secretive, she thought that yeonjun was going to get home later than usual.
“junnie, it’s not- i’m not.. its not what it looks like, i promise.”
yeonjun turned his back, grabbing his jacket, “oh so what is it- hmm ? is it all just a huge misunderstanding that i caught you kissing another man ?”
“jun, please-“ yoojung, got up from the bed, buttoning her dress shirt as quick as she could. “it really isn’t what you think it is..”
“i don’t care what that was, yoojung, we’re over..” yeonjun spoke. he felt himself on the edge of a breakdown, trying to keep himself looking stable until he made it a safe distance away from yoojung’s apartment.
and now he was here, facing huening kai, the two of them now sitting on the metal bench. huening kai listening to each and every word that his hyung told him, explaining the situation to huening. yeonjun hated ranting to huening kai, because it made him feel like he was destroying the younger’s outlook on love and relationships. kai, however, didn’t really mind, he just wanted to give his hyung a shoulder to cry on. he knew how much yeonjun’s relationships had failed ever since he was in high school, and he just wanted the best for his hyung. and with yeonjun’s final year of college coming to an end, with only a semester left, he truly wished he found the right person at college- however yeonjun seemed to have different plans.
“i think i give up on love- i don’t believe in romance. i don’t believe in being romantic.”
Teen Pregnancy ♡
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kōtarō Bokuto x fem!reader
WC: 1.8k
Genre: angst to fluff
CW: fem!reader, pregnant!reader, teen pregnancy (please don’t get pregnant at a young age if you can try!), angst to fluff, reader thinks it’s sickness, injured!bokuto, obviously implied sex since reader is pregnant
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖
I wiped my mouth with the back of my shaky hand as I just got finished puking into the toilet. This happened for the third time this week, but I hadn't gone to the doctor because of Bokuto.
He had, unfortunately, sprained his ankle while trying out a new skill during volleyball practice. The doctor said that he wasn't supposed to play for a week and to lay off it for it to heal.
As usual, that really made Kōtarō go into emo mode. Akaashi had managed to pull him out, but his bad mood hadn't gone away all week.
Me being his girlfriend, I took up the duty to help him around, even if I wasn't feeling well myself; I care about his well-being more than mine anyway.
After I brushed my teeth, I noticed a pale-ish look to my skin tone. Maybe I should make an appointment with the doctor's, I thought after grabbing my school bag.
Dark gray clouds swirled in the sky as the cold air nipped at my skin, releasing a shiver from my body.
It was probably going to rain, or worse, snow.
Being in the month of December, that was quite likely to happen. I arrived at the front gates of school, and
Akaashi had taken it upon himself to help get Kō here in the mornings.
I quickly hurried to his classroom, which was class one. I saw him pouting in his chair with his crutch leaning on the side of his desk and his hair slightly down. I sighed and moved near him.
"Good morning baby, how're you feeling?" I asked, trying to shift my problems out of my head and focusing on his.
"I want to play volleyball." His pout is not going away. Kōtarō always had an endless hunger for the victory of volleyball. I mean, that is why he is one of the top five best athletes in Japan.
And a small sprang could really do some damage to the poor boy.
"I know you do, but just bear with us for the next couple of days, and then you'll be back to smashing those balls on the court." I tried cheering him up a bit before I had to leave.
I heard the warning bell signaling that class would be starting soon, so I leaned down to give Kō a peck on the forehead before I left.
"I'll see you later, Kōtarō."
But when I started walking, I felt my bladder almost exploded. I had used the bathroom when I first got up this morning before my puking session, so I wasn't sure how I already needed to pee.
I hurried to the nearest ladies bathroom and relieved myself. While I was washing my hands, the bell rang for class to start.
What made it even worse was that my class room was upstairs since I was in class 5. My shoulders slumped as I walked even slower up the stairs.
It was only morning, but traveling up a staircase had worn me out.
I entered my class with the rest of my classmates staring at me, and my best friend's eyebrow quirked up as if to question why I'm late.
"You finally come to class, miss." My teacher said irritatingly as I took my seat, which was in back, after I mumbled a small apology.
Soon, the teacher droned on about something that I wasn't too bothered by. I sat my head down on the desk and decided to take a little nap to pass the time.
I felt someone shake me a little bit as I pushed their hand away.
"Do you want to eat lunch or not?" was the voice belonging to my best friend as she awaited my answer, which was a bunch of words mumbled together.
"By the way, why were you late this morning? You're never late, like, ever." She questioned me as she sat in front of me with her bento box, deciding she was going to eat here with me in the class.
"I had used the bathroom after meeting with Kō and ended up late. I just don't feel good." I said, looking up at her, then at her food.
Suddenly, a thought struck at me, "And I forgot my lunch." I groaned and sat my head back down.
"I'm so sorry (Y/n). I really don't want to make everything worse, but our teacher assigned us a project that's worth ten percent of our grade, and it's due Friday."
Today was Wednesday, and I felt like crying at the thought of doing a school project. "Great, just great. great, great, great." I hit my head on my hands with every word I spoke.
"You don't sound great."
"I'm not great, (B/f/n)." I put my head in my hands and sucked it up, trying to focus on anything else besides the hunger in my stomach and the nausea that came with it.
"I'll be fine; lunch is almost over anyway. Do me a favor and wake me when the bell rings for dismissal." She nodded and packed her bento box away as people started to fill the classroom.
I also forgot my hoodie, so I laid there on my cold desk, shivering just a bit.
As promised, (B/f/n) woke me when class was finished. I headed outside towards the gym, knowing Kō would want to stay and watch his teammates play, even if he couldn't.
The sky had actually become really dark as little flurries of snow fell down. This was bad weather, especially with Bokuto being in a crutch.
I sluggishly walked into the gym, knowing that it would take a lot of convincing for me to get home.
As usual, he was sitting on the bench watching his teammates play with a grumpy facial expression.
I sighed and sat down beside him, wanting nothing more than to be embraced by his arms.
I laid my head on his shoulder and carefully watched out the window as the snow continued to fall.
Only two hours had passed, and it was pitch black outside, not to mention it was freezing too.
I had been trying to convince Bokuto to go home due to his injured leg. I knew I had been pestering him, but in the end he would give in and let me help him walk home.
What I didn't expect was for my plan to backfire on me.
"Goddamn it, do you have to be so fucking annoying all the time?" He snapped his head towards me as I froze; I could tell everyone else in the gym did too.
My heart was stuck in my throat as I gave him a weak apology; I didn't bother grabbing my bag. Held my head down low as I hurried out of the gym as the temperature dropped, making my skin freeze.
I couldn't see due to it being pitch black, but I still kept on, my legs never stopping. The only thing warm were my salty tears, which never seemed to stop rushing down my face.
I wasn't sure where I was, so I tried to slow down my pace as I slipped on ice, and my head rammed into a wall. The pain almost immediately giving me raging headache as I pressed a hand onto it.
I slowly slid down the ice-cold brick wall, not having the energy to move anymore.
My day was so fucking shitty.
Slowly, my arms wrapped around my limp body to suffice as something to cover me from the snow that still continued to fall from the sky.
Before I knew it, my eyes closed due to the pain in my head and my arms were wrapped not only around my body but my stomach.
"Kō." was the last thing my voice could manage out before I slipped into unconsciousness on the ground.
Muffled voices in a room awoke me with the annoying sound of beating. I felt warmth surrounding me and bandages on my face as I opened my eyes.
I squinted at the bright lights that were on the ceiling. I slowly sat up and looked at everyone in the room around me.
It was a hospital room and the annoying sound was my heart.
My parents, Bokuto's mom, Bokuto, and Akaashi, were in the room with me. I looked down at my lap, not liking how all the attention was on me at once.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Bokuto open his mouth as if he were to say something but shut it when the doctor came into the room.
"Hi, mom, dad. If you don't mind, I'm just going to check up on your daughter," she said as she rounded my bed.
"Hello sweetie, how do you feel?" She gathered a flashlight and a clipboard, ready to write.
"My head hurts." The voice that came out was all scratchy and low. It seemed to make my mom lean more into my dad, as if to hide her tears. The doctor handed me a cup of water.
"Well, you did hit it pretty hard. Are you warm enough? I can add another heated blanket if you want; make yourself comfortable. We still need to check if the baby is okay." She reached for another blanket as I froze.
"Excuse me?" My voice came out slightly panicked.
What baby?
"Don't worry, we already told your parents, so you don't need to worry about that." She concluded with a comforting smile.
"No, no. What do you mean? I'm not pregnant." I said, I was confused; I'm pretty sure I wasn't pregnant. Or at least, I think.
My eyes immediately reached Bokuto's sorrowful ones.
"Oh my god." I covered my mouth with my left hand as my right one went to my stomach. I couldn't believe what was happening right now.
"Oh. Mom, dad, and other mom, how about we give these two a few minutes to talk?" She politely said, giving Kō and I some time to discuss this.
Silence fell over the now empty room; Bokuto was the first one to speak up.
"(Y/n), I'm sorry for acting like that. I just wanted to play volleyball so bad, but that doesn't excuse my actions. When the guys found you and you were shivering uncontrollably and bleeding, I didn't know what to do.
“On top of that, you were out there with.. our baby in you." After he had finished, tears fell from his somber, golden eyes.
I reached a hand to his face and wiped a tear away while he leaned into my hand.
"Kō, I forgive you. But a baby? We're still in school, and you have your volleyball career that you plan on pursuing, and I still don't know what I want to be." I nervously stated, my eyebrows furrowed with worry.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. We'll work through it together, okay? We'll be the greatest parents ever." He gave me the smile that I missed the most.
And that reassurance was all I needed to process that we could handle this together.
New Year's Kiss
Character: Carol Aird
Ship: Carol Aird x F!Reader
Word count: ±900
Genre: Fluff
Tumblr media
23:31
It was a cold december night,You were walking downt he street full of christmas lights and slippery snow. As you got to the very familiar door,behind which you've made many beautiful memories,you knocked on it.
A few minutes later she openned the door. Carol. She looks as beautiful as ever:
Blonde,slightly wavy hair,her red lips,baby blue eyes,fair and pale skin. Her red dress which was tightly on her beautiful,attractive body.. the way it clung to her small waist,the skirt was tightly on her soft hips which made your breath get stuck in your throat.
She smiled at you,at her dear friend and said with her soft, yet raspy from cigarettes voice:
"Ah,Y/N,you finally came! Come on in,what took you so long,dearest?"
There it is. That nickname.. "Dearest".
As she refers to you by that name,your heart sinks for a second down to your stomach. Your eyes widen ever so slightly and you take a sharp breath in:
"Oh,just the usual .. That damn traffic and the snowy roads. But i came till midnight,so.."
You laughed a little,as you stepped into the house and took your shoes off. You held a present in your hand. It was for Carol's daughter,Rindy,a very nice little girl..just like her mother.
23:47
You didn't really plan on celebrating the New years,you didn't feel like it. But since Carol invited you,you couldn't say no.
She is just captivating,she can get anyone under a trance with her beauty,raspy voice and those hypnotizing blue eyes.
To be honest,you felt something for Carol ever since you met her 2 years ago. It was an accidental meeting,but yet it holds a huge part in your heart since it changed your life completely.
You remember every little detail about that day: what she wore on that sunny day in August,what she ordered in the Café you worked at..
"Dearest,what are you thinking about?" You heard Carol ask.
You felt her hand on your back. As you looked at her,your e/c eyes were met with her baby blues. The mascara only enhanced her long eyelashes,the red lipstick which she always wore made her look even more seducting.
"Oh..well,nothing really,just..just our first meeting."
You shrugged it off and took a sip of your champaigne. You heard her giggle. Oh,her voice..the voice you can't get enough of.
"Silly girl,i thought it was something serious.."
She sighed,but then she continued:
"I think about it all the time,too. You looked so beautiful in your work uniform.. and the coffee you made me was the best one."
The compliment made your heart fill with warmth and your cheeks go slight pink,you'd never expect her to compliment you in such way.
23:57
You and Carol were on the balcony,smoking. The air was chilly,it send slight shivers down your spine,but the cigarette somehow made you feel warmer.
You were looking at her. She looked ethereal:
Her blue eyes shone under the moonlit sky,her fair skin looked even paler and softer,her hair was slightly flowing with the chilly wind. The way she held the cigarette in her delicate hands with vibrant red nail polish,the way she put it close to her soft lips you wanted to kiss so badly,even the smoke she blew out was beautiful..
"Y/N could i tell you something?"
She asked.
"Oh .. of course."
You looked at her,taking a dragged from your cigarette that she so offered you a few minutes back.
"I don't know how you will react to this..you may find me disgusting,you may hate me..may never want to see me again and i may lose you,but i have to be honest with you."
She turned around and looked into your eyes.
"I love you .."
You heard these words come out of her soft lips as you froze.
"The first day we met,that's when i realized i felt something for you..and now that we've spent almost every day together throughout these 2 years, i realized i am in love with you." Her usuallu calm voice was strained. Aird took a deep breath in. "Please,do not hate me,dearest. You mean the world to me.."
You were quiet,you could not believe the woman you fantasized about,cared the most for and loved with your whole hesrt had confessed her feelings to you.
You could see tears in her beautiful eyes,they were full of many emotions like fear,worry,sadness and confusion. She waited and waited for your answer. She wanted to see if it was the end. The end of everything.
You came up closer to her without breaking the eye contact.
"Oh,Carol.. i love you too. I could never imagine you being in love with me.. It all feels unreal right now."
When the older woman heard your words,she let out a shaky breath of relief and smiled,showing her smile lines you love so much.
She came closer to you,putting her cold yet soft hands on your cheeks and looked into your eyes.
00:00
Carol leaned in and put her lips onto yours. The kiss sent a soft electricity down both of your bodies,it was full of love,happiness and relief.
It was not the end,as has Carol thought,No,it was the start of everything.
The start of a beautiful,yet forbidden love story.
-----------------------------------------------------
Happy new years everyone. I hope you like it.
-Love. aster.-
Tumblr media
There was a light breeze flowing around you, coming from the slightly open window to your left. The cold weather of December made itself present in every joint of your body, making it impossible for you to work on your current task.
The sound of the oven clicking brought you back to your senses, your eyes moving from your frozen hands to the - hopefully -  appetizing lasagna, ready to be set on the table and enjoyed by your whole family.
As clockwork, you heard a weak knock at your front door, a smile making itself present on your features as you knew exactly who was at the door.
"I got it!" you screamed at whoever was there to listen - your family was all in the living room enjoying the nice warmth of the fireplace while you were left to freeze in the kitchen.
There was a tradition done every year one week before Christmas. Every member of your family would get together at someone's house, a game would take place, and the loser was assigned to the main course of the night in the following year. It would be a weekend event, and it was just a big excuse for everyone to see each other. Every year, you'd be excited for this one weekend, happy to taste every food on the table and every dessert your body would allow you to eat.
This year, though, you wanted to jump inside the oven and stay there with the lasagna. It was too cold, and you were extremely tired from all the events of the previous week.
One of your colleagues at work chose to quit in one of the most tumultuous weeks of the month so far. You were dreading the days before Christmas, already knowing people would go on a last-hour shopping spree. Every single thing that needed to be done at the store was thrown your way.
"Welcome to my humble abode, young gentleman." You bowed down after opening the door. As you expected, Eddie was standing - rather awkwardly - on the front steps of your house. He looked terrified - and cute, as always.
"Hi, baby. Hi." His voice soft, as if he was scared to speak any louder.
"Where's my kiss?" you asked after a long, silent 30 seconds of just staring at each other. Your voice calm, and smile gentle, trying to give him as much comfort as you could.
"Sorry." He mumbled, a breathy chuckle left his lips before he closed the distance between the two of you. "So?" he asked, arms open while he did a little dance to show off his clothes, "how do I look?"
"Pretty." You kissed his nose, "like you always do, Eds." Your hand grabbed his, pushing him closer to you. Before closing the door, your eyes traveled to the dark sky above you; heavy gray clouds adorned its splendor. "I think it's going to snow." You mumbled more to yourself, but Eddie heard you. With a shine to his eyes and hands going around your figure, he rested his chin on your shoulder before whispering in your ear.
"You do? Maybe we can build a snowman later."
You sighed, your hot breath creating clouds when coming into contact with the chilling weather. Despite his chattering teeth - due to the night’s cool temperature cutting through his clothes, - his heart was warm against his chest. Never in a million years did Eddie Munson think he'd feel so... domestic with someone. So safe and belonging.
"Oh my god, Y/n. Let the boy inside, he's freezing!" your aunt urged you both inside "c'mon honey, we have some hot chocolate waiting for you." She ended her sentence by dragging Eddie to the living room, his eyes wide. Before disappearing into the corner, he looked your way, and you sent him a teasing smirk. You could see his face relax a little, but his big brown eyes were still as wide, as if they were gonna pop out of their sockets. You couldn’t help the amused chuckle that left your mouth.
"Are you coming to our Easter treasure hunt, honey?" You could hear your aunt ask him as you approached the living room, her voice so sweet and tender. Eddie had never felt so welcomed before, especially by adults, - they usually considered him a bad influence on their kids - and these people barely knew him and still, were treating him as a part of their family.
it all felt so weird but so good at the same time.
"um" he didn't really know what to say. You haven’t invited him, and he didn’t want to intrude on your family’s activities. Being here tonight already felt like too much, so in his head, it was better not to overstep. He didn’t want to ruin everything with you by being too clingy. He settled with "I’m not sure." and a shake of his shoulders.
"Oh, don't be silly!" she rolled her eyes at him and waved her hand. "You're definitely invited; maybe with your help, Y/n will be able to win."
"Hey!" you exclaimed, hand on your heart, "I won in ‘82."
"Yes, indeed." she slowly nodded her head. You knew she had more to say. "Because you cheated."
"I didn't cheat!"
"oh! as if i wouldn’t know. You’re the worst liar in the family!" you huffed and crossed your arms in front of your chest like a grumpy child. Eddie could see the small twitch of your lips, definitely holding a smirk back. At that, he had to laugh, and it was quite loud, making everyone turn their attention from you to him. He coughed, trying to hide it as if no one had just heard him.
"Well," she spoke again, "if y/n thinks she’s too good for a partner on the hunt, you can be mine." she stated simply.
"you’d love that wouldn’t you?" you huffed a laugh.
Before sitting down, you glanced at Eddie. His lips turned upward, and he eyed every member of your family with admiration and curiosity. You nodded towards the comfy sofa, and after gripping his hand, you pushed him down to sit with you.
"Sorry for her, she’s a lot sometimes." you whispered to him after your family settled back into their previous conversation.
"Are you kidding me? She's great!" he exclaimed, bright, dark eyes looking at you adoringly.
Like you knew he would, Eddie fitted just perfectly with your family, and after his initial shyness went away, he was able to be himself, his dramatic way of storytelling amusing your relatives, who listened intently to him while he told them about the time you almost hit an old lady while he tried to teach you how to drive.
It was not a funny story to you
"That did not happen like that."
"it definitely did!"
"I’m sure Eddie is telling the truth." your aunt spoke again, making you glare at her while the whole family nodded their heads in agreement. Your younger cousins holding their laughs, but failing miserably.
"you’re all traitors!" you exclaimed, making Tyler, an 8-year-old little devil, smirk and say
"You know, Eddie, i like you" he squinted at you and nodded his head, as if satisfied with his conclusion, "maybe we can trade you for him."
"ha ha, very funny." You stuck your tongue out at him, but before he could respond, your eyes widened, and you stood up abruptly, "Oh my god, the lasagna!" your voice faded as you made your run to the kitchen.
"she’ll definitely not be in charge of the dinner next year."
"Remember me again," your aunt sighed, "why did we let the kid in charge this year?"
If Snowflakes Were Stars, I'd Wish To See You Again
Pairing: Jason Todd x female reader
Summary: It’s odd how the universe pulls two people together; and it’s beautiful, nonetheless.
Warnings: none
Words: ~2.5k
Notes: I wanted it to come from y/n’s POV but I always end up writing in Jason’s. I feel like it’s too early to write about things in December haha but whatever. Also, idk why but the jacket theme seemed to carry over into this one too from my previous fic.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:
December came in with a bite and Jason, despite favoring the cold as he often felt himself radiate so much heat himself, would admit that even this weather was uncalled for. Gotham was cruel, but this winter was unforgiving and somewhere beneath the Kevlar material of his suit that protected his heart, he wondered if the people of Gotham were warm tonight—not that he cared, or at least showed. He wasn’t fluent in soft consolation; it was a language that he hadn’t need to show for and if he did, it was under such rare occurrences that he often wondered what came over himself.
It was a slow night, one without many disturbances and he wondered if the world, in all its sickening and twisted ways, also paused to admire the snow that had just begun to fall, covering the city in a silence that hushed it to sleep.  It was just a little after two A.M. and it was a time, Jason thought, where he had never felt so alive and so alone; exhilarating in a way that liberty felt, but crushingly so with the weight of solitude.
The streets were empty and there was still a long time before patrol would be over, and he wished, if anything, there was something to soothe the adrenaline in his veins, craving for life to unfold in front of him where he could insert himself to feel something—anything; he wanted something to happen. As he watched the streets below him, he saw a figure round the corner and walk down the streets without a care, its body language languid and giddy.
He looked closer and saw a woman, cheeks flushed from the bitter cold, and he hoped to god by alcohol too because no one in their right mind would be stumbling around the streets of Gotham in winter—most certainly not by themselves either. He watched her silently, his eyes trained on her as his emotions flitted from one to the next as he overwhelmed himself with questions.
He watched her facial expression, completely stunned by how she was smiling despite the cold. She looked at the sky, her eyes bright with wonder as a laugh escaped her throat, watching the flakes dance around her. She swirled with them, throwing her hands in the air as if she could catch the snowflakes, as if just for a moment, life could be enjoyed in its most simplest wonders. Jason wasn’t sure what piqued his curiosity more, her laugh which had made his heart stop and beat again, or her complete lack of situational awareness. Actually, he thought, the latter peaked his concern in a way he wasn’t sure was possible.
He wasn’t sure how long he followed her, he wasn’t sure how he ended up on the streets either, and he most definitely wasn’t sure how he ended up beside her. When she caught him out of the corner of her eye, she jumped reflexively and pulled out a pepper spray, aiming it at him.
Jason chuckled, inwardly praising her for at least having some sort of defense ready.
“Good to see that you’re ready for anything. But there’s really no need for that,” he said calmly as he put his hands up. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
“What the fuck!” she exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock which quickly morphed into one of annoyance—more like pissed off, but Jason preferred that his presence wasn’t so much of an irritation.
“You can’t just sneak up on someone like that,” she chided, furrowing her eyebrows. Her cheeks glowed even more pink, and Jason couldn’t help but feel a smile tug at his lips as he thought how cute she looked even frustrated—and underlying that, scared.
He laughed at her reprimand, his eyes studying her face for longer than what he needed to analyze her for.
“You shouldn’t be walking around alone, especially this late. Who knows what you might run into. Not to mention it’s cold out,” he said. “I can walk with you if you’d like. Just as a precaution, of course.”
“No thanks,” she muttered, her eyes flicking up to him only to be met with his red helmet—which he knew made him look callous and alarming. Jason watched her carefully, sensing how on edge she was and even more painstakingly, how obvious it was that she wasn’t from here. Well, he supposed, it was quite evident when he saw her dancing on the street.
Jason clenched his jaw as his conscience knew that he should stay by her side—and he wasn’t fighting it either, almost wanting to be by her side for longer. However, he wasn’t even given the chance to think about it as she started to walk off without him. Jason thought better of it and continued to follow her, ignoring her attempts to shoo him away.
He tilted his head, a feeling forming in his chest that he couldn’t quite place and wasn’t so interested in figuring out now. He liked her stubbornness, that he was certain of. The way she had said no without an attempt to think it over first. It made her seem less naïve and more in-tune with her surroundings. The girl had some sense of self-preservation about her. However, she was still an easy target, especially in an area like Gotham and at this late in the night too. But he couldn’t deny that she was interesting.
“Do you always cosplay and follow girls home?” she muttered under her breath.
Jason broke away from his thoughts as he raised an eyebrow at the girl’s comment, a half-amused, half-irritated expression written on his face under his mask.
“I don’t cosplay,” he said, his voice neutral. “And I’m just making sure you’re safe, okay? It’s late and Gotham gets dangerous at night.”
She glanced at him again, smirking at his attire. “Hmm, your costume says otherwise.”
Jason frowned, feeling himself become ever so slightly irritated. “This isn’t a costume.”
When she made no remark, he sighed. “What’s your name?” he asked, giving in.
“Is your next question going to be you asking for my number?” she asked, her lips begging to be pulled into a smile.
Jason laughed at her sarcasm. So, she was funny, Jason thought. He had a lot of questions for her, but he decided to put them off for now. He was intrigued, to say the least.
“Maybe,” he said shrugging, then he shook himself out of his own tease and said: “Can I at least ask for your name now?”
“Doesn’t it add to the mysteriousness of this situation?” she countered back, glancing at him.
Jason thanked he had his helmet on because underneath he couldn’t help but grin at her answer. She’s witty too? he pondered to himself.
“Mysteriousness is overrated,” he said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
“Says the man in the mask,” she clipped back, tightening her jacket around her.
Jason smiled now, shaking his head. “Name?” he asked again.
“I believe we should remain as strangers,” she said, dodging his question once more.
“And why’s that?” he asked, enjoying their back-and-forth.
“Oh god, don’t tell me your parents never taught you to not talk to strangers,” she said with mock disbelief.
“And your parents never taught you to not walk the streets of Gotham alone at this time of night?” he shot back. Jason couldn’t help but smile a little to himself, amused at her audacity. She was nothing like he was expecting and usually he didn’t like things that strayed off course, but nothing ever went his way in his life, but for once he didn’t mind it.
“Touché,” she smiled, keeping her focus ahead of herself and to the bare streets they roamed.
They fell into silence as they continued walking along the streets. Jason kept an eye out for any potential danger while also wondering what this girl was doing out here at this time. Why is she out here alone? Does she not realize how dangerous Gotham is on a night like this? What was her name? Eventually, the silence became awkward, and the cold was becoming a lot more unbearable. And even worse, there still seemed to be no end in sight.
Jason broke the silence asking quite rather awkwardly: “So . . . why are you here?”
“To enjoy this lovely weather,” she said sarcastically, shoving her hands in her pockets to keep them warm.
“You could’ve done that inside,” Jason said, frustration creeping into his voice. She had a lot of snark and sass, but she was still out here without any explanation. “Come on, there’s nothing to see at this hour. Let me at least walk you home.”
“We’re almost back to my apartment now,” she noted, keeping her gaze forward.
Jason nodded, letting another awkward silence fall between them. Jason was still processing this information—he had thought she wasn’t from here, but they way she walked assuredly meant she was familiar with the area, familiar with Gotham, but why she still chose to walk by herself didn’t make any sense to Jason. He glanced at her inquisitively but that’s when he noticed that her cheeks and nose were reddening even more, her breath becoming more apparent as the temperature continued to decline.
“How much longer do we need to go?” he asked. “It’s not exactly warm out right now.”
She glanced at him, her eyes searching his helmet before falling to the ground. “Please, I’ve endured worse,” she tried to joke, but Jason couldn’t help but feel there was an air of honesty to that statement.
Jason thought about cracking a joke too, but the cold was starting to get to him as well. The way this girl was so casual about it was almost unsettling. As they walked in silence, Jason couldn’t help but notice she began to shiver.
“Are you cold?” he couldn’t help but ask.
She laughed, her eyes glittering, and once again Jason felt his heart clench. “Of course, I am,” she snorted.
Jason rolled his eyes but started to slip off his jacket. “Here, borrow my jacket,” he said, offering it to her. “Try to keep warm with this. You have no idea how cold it can get.”
He was being surprisingly nice, and he wasn’t fluent in soft consolation but maybe this was another rare occurrence. He most definitely did wonder what came over himself.  Perhaps it was due to something the girl had brought out of him. Maybe it was because she was so stubborn or how playful this whole thing had been. Even if the situation was still a little uncomfortable and weird.
She shook her head. “Then you’ll be cold too,” she said, gently pushing the jacket back towards him.
Jason was surprised by her answer, the way she so easily refused his offer. It seemed a bit too cold out to refuse—hell, it was really cold out to refuse.
“I’m used to the cold, trust me. You aren’t. So just put that on already,” he insisted. “You’ll regret it if you don’t.”
She eyed the jacket, then gave in, pulling it on herself. It hung on her frame, and Jason, relieved that she had done so, smiled slightly. He couldn’t help but notice that she was even cuter when she let herself be vulnerable. The jacket was obviously too big for her, but in some way, it looked good on her, nonetheless.
“There we go,” he said, his voice neutral once again. “Now you won’t be as cold.”
“Thank you,” she murmured, pulling the jacket around herself tighter. Jason nodded, glad that he could finally help the girl out. It was weird seeing her without the tough façade for a moment. She looked so vulnerable, and he couldn’t stop looking at her, thinking about what it would’ve been like it he had met her in a more pleasant situation. But he pushed those thoughts aside, keeping his focus on the task at hand—making sure she got to her home safely.
“No problem,” Jason replied as he continued to walk alongside her. “Do you live around here?”
“Yeah,” she said, pointing to an apartment building they were approaching.
Jason couldn’t help but notice the way she walked towards it; how confident she was. He couldn’t help but find that attractive, and he most definitely couldn’t help how her wearing his jacket was too. This girl really was something different, but he shook his head, emptying his mind of those thoughts.
He followed closely behind her, making sure she made it to the entrance of her apartment safely. When they reached the doors, she turned around and started to take his jacket off.
“Thanks for letting me borrow this,” she said, returning the jacket back to him.
Jason almost wanted to refuse. That jacket looked great on her.
“No problem,” he replied. “I just want you to be safe.”
Jason looked at her face, noticing her cheeks were a little red now. She must’ve gotten colder after finally giving up the jacket, shivering a bit.
“You okay?” he asked.
“Perfect,” she smiled.
Jason felt a slight twinge of disappointment inside him. This was the end of line—they would most likely never meet again. Or if they did, their relationship would never progress past the ‘mysterious’ strangers who met in the middle of the night. But that wasn’t what bothered him the most, but the fact that this girl was never completely honest with him. She was an enigma from the beginning. But then again, what was she supposed to do? Reveal her personal information to a masked stranger in the middle of the night? Right.
When she opened the door, she flashed him one last cheeky grin, her voice ringing out in the dark. “Goodnight, Red Hood.”
He tilted his head ever so slightly. So, she knew who he was. He looked at her one last time as she entered the apartment building feeling a little betrayed, but mostly impressed. This girl was smart, he had to give her that. Playing oblivious, leading him on with her feigned ignorance. She’s probably more clever than most. This whole thing had been fun and he had enjoyed it. He wondered whether she was the type of girl who enjoyed it as well. He wondered if she felt that tug between them too.
But that didn’t matter. It was just a fleeting moment, and he would never see her again. He looked up to the sky, watching the thick, heavy flakes fall to the ground. The snow was coming down so heavy now, he couldn’t even see the night sky.
If snowflakes were stars, I’d wish to see you again, he thought as he walked into the night, disappearing like the flakes that melted onto the ground.
