Truce Part 1

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 Pairing(s): Ikaris x Persephone!Reader ft. Druig x Hecate!Reader Word Count: 2.7k Prompt/Summary: Ikaris and Druig have a discussion about the women in their lives (AKA: Ikaris is an idiot who thinks your best friend is a demon, and Druig is super in love with said demon). It was safe to say that Ikaris was a confident individual.

This was a fact that applied to many aspects of his life.

He was confident in his abilities as an Eternal. He was confident in his faith in both his leader Ajak, and the Celestial that created him and his team members, Arishem. He was especially confident in his capability as a leader. This included carrying out missions, eliminating Deviants, and saving and “caring” about the fragile humans’ lives.

No matter what Druig implied.

But the one thing he could not say he was completely 100% confident about… was… understanding how he placed amongst the rest of the Eternals.

That wasn’t to say he wasn’t well-liked or even appreciated… but… he didn’t exactly know how some members “felt” about him.

He was more than well-received by certain members – Kingo and Sprite are the first Eternals that come to mind. He had earned the respect and trust of most of the group – as was shown by the trust Ajak put on him, along with the close bond he shared with Sersi. Thena and Gilgamesh certainly respected him as a fighter – but they never idolized him. In their eyes, he was more of a younger brother that they could share a drink and trade banter. He was on amicable terms with Makkari. Phastos and him never particularly bonded with each other, but the latter still trusted Ikaris’ judgement.

With Druig and Katelyn, both outright dismissing him most of the time –

No…that was putting it lightly…

Take the words “outright dismissed him,” and replaced them with “liked to act like bratty little shits and make him look like a fucking idiot;” along with the words “most of the time,” and replace them with “since they all left the goddamn Domo.”

…But he had no idea where he stood with you.

Sephia, the Eternal blessed by Arishem with the ability of absolute control of plants and the Earth. While Sersi made efforts to connect with the humans, you almost did everything in your power to avoid them. But no matter how you tried to avoid them, humans always adored you. They longed to catch a quick glimpse of the beautiful being that brought them aid whenever their crops were unable to bear fruit.

It was not only your powers that attracted them to you, but also the image you presented yourself to them. You were…heaven-sent – is how the humans saw you. Although fairly quiet, it was obvious to him that you were brilliant. Not only that, but you were fairly regimented in your diligence to your duties- something Ikaris greatly appreciated in a team member. You and Sersi worked together to only present them with their new crops, explain the various uses that would fit their lifestyle, show them how to properly harvest the crops and take a section of the seeds to replant, and then demonstrate how to properly plant them in a way that would yield the best results.

…It also helped how the sun would bring out that lovely flush to your skin in your demonstrations.

To them, your kindness and shy demeanor… along with your overwhelming beauty that was only further brought out from your flowing pink tunic with green twining and brass patterns… presented the very image of a Springtime Maiden.

You carried out your duties flawlessly, and always with so much efficiency that you always managed to have more than enough free time to go off on your little adventures to study the wildlife you had not created. You were curious as to how certain natural environments resulted in different lifestyle choices. You insisted that in studying the world around them, you would be able to better understand the humans’ lifestyle. A thought that was supported by Ajak whole-heartedly.

And it wasn’t only your duties to the humans that you carried out well – you even used your ability to control the plants that surrounded you to attack Deviants in desperate times. Sprite would spin tales of how the Sweet Spring Maiden Sephia could turn a little flower into a giant vine that could pierce through the skull of any deviant that came your way.

You were…different. That wasn’t to say you were strange…if anything…your differences made you…charming. Admittedly, he hadn’t paid much attention towards you at the beginning as he was initially attracted to Sersi’s kind demeanor. But he would always see you with her, and she would always insist on the two of you bonding. Your encounters with one another were awkward to say the least. But soon, he genuinely bonded with you…

Now, you were just the most fucking adorable being in the universe; which brought up the dire need to know where he stood in your life.

He just hoped that your “guardian angel” wasn’t with you at the moment.

“Well,” thought Ikaris, “demon would be a more accurate term in describing her.”

Kaetlyn was a different topic of conversation to say the least. Simply put, her abilities allow her to manipulate shadows and darkness. In battle, she would first scope out any areas that had Deviants to gain any information that would be an advantage. She would do this by either sending her shadows out, or just traveling through any shadows herself. Ikaris loathed to admit it, but her affinity for intelligence-gathering was far superior than the rest of them. Not only that, but she was a more than capable fighter. She would aim her dark arrows to the Deviant’s weakest point, and let the shadows embedded in it sink into their bodies to tear them from the inside out.

After its confirmed death, she would use her shadow portals to transport them to her personal laboratory at the Domo to “study” their anatomy and physiology. And if that wasn’t enough, Ajak just- just- ALLOWS IT! Even going so far as to ask for your assistance at certain times!

Ajak was one matter – after all, the Prime Eternal served as a maternal figure to everyone, including him – but he was more shocked at your eager involvement in the dark assassin’s hobbies. He could never forget how brightly you smiled when you ran towards him in excitement at your realization that encasing the decaying specimens in a mixture of various alcohol solutions and formaldehyde created a much more effective embalming methods than encasing it in an alcohol solution with herbs and spices.

You went on for hours about how you discovered the gas during one of the fires that nearly destroyed the village a few months back. Luckily very few of the villagers died, but you noticed how the victims who only died through exposure to the smoke decomposed much slower than normal. You then ended up trying to explain the process of precipitating the gas into a liquid solution, along with how to properly categorize it so that it wouldn’t be accidentally ingested. You and he ended up talking for so long that you ended up completely missing the feast held in celebration of the harvest that year. Ajak was quite cross with the both of you – Ikaris especially since he is usually so punctual with social engagements – but how could he be upset after having hours of your sole attention? You too were not put off by your leader’s slight scolding. On the contrary, you were more than relieved considering how much you hated these events.

You were kind and thoughtful; she was argumentative and crass. You were radiant brilliance; she was unhinged madness. You brought light and its hopeful beginnings; she oozed out darkness and all its mad chaos. You were life; she was death. So why did you latch onto her as if she was your only tether to the ground?

…You were being controlled by her- that had to have been it. Ikaris refused to believe that someone as wonderful and kind as yourself would willingly subject themselves to that-that-that- hell spawn!

“Y’know,” an annoyed voice broke his thoughts, “I’d really appreciate it if you’d didn’t call the love of my life a ‘hell spawn’.”

“For the love of Arishem,” thought Ikaris, “anyone but him.”

Taking a deep breath, he turned to find Druig.

“And I’m more than certain that our sweet Sephia wouldn’t exactly be ecstatic in knowing how you referred her very favorite person in the world that particular term either.” The mind controlling Eternal finished off with that damned trademark smirk of his.

Gods, Ikaris wanted nothing more than to shove that face a thousand feet in the ground right now. But he didn’t want to afford to lose his temper now. Not when he still hoped to find you.

“Pretty sure Ajak made it a rule for you not to use your powers on your fellow Eternals,” he snapped, “considering your habit of using it on the humans already.”

“Please,” he quipped back, “you’re the one pacing and muttering like a mad man in the middle of the courtyard.” He slightly cocked his head to the side in a facetious manner, “Anything I could help with?”

Ikaris didn’t want to tell Druig his plans…he wanted less for Druig to know about his plans with you. But Druig was close to you…even only through mutual association by Kaetlyn.

“Why are Sephia and Kaetlyn friends?” He blurted out.

“…Seriously?” Druig asked, “that’s what making act so crazy?”

“Just answer the damn question Druig.”

“…Why do you want to know?” The mind controller asked, very sure he wasn’t going to like Golden Boy’s response, but felt it necessary for his own peace of mind.

“…It doesn’t make any sense to me.”

“Excuse me?” His tone was growing colder with each passing second.

“Druig, I understand that you are incapable of being objective towards your… lover,” Ikaris started, “but even you have to admit you found their friendship to be unusual?”

“I can’t say that I have,” Druig answered, “I happen to think my angel as a lovely individual. A sentiment also agreed on by most members of the team- even your biggest fan Kingo adores her. Unconventional views? Maybe. Relentless tenacity? Absolutely. But that is exactly the foundation my beautiful Kaet’s adoration of Sephia, and vice versa.”

“I don’t- wait- I don’t understand?” Ikaris interrogated the besotted Eternal, “All she does is question Ajak’s authority, and commit senseless acts of childish rebellion! How does that lead to her being close with someone -”

Druig’s blank stare was almost terrifying.

“What Ikaris?” he asked, “Someone like Sephia? And how do you see our Sephia? Someone dutiful? Beautiful? Kind? Sweet? Perfect? How wretchedly mundane and so very one-dimensional- even for you.”

“That’s not it,” Ikaris was getting angry, “stop putting words in my mouth-”

“It’s not exactly a hard thing to do with you, my friend. But you and Sephia aren’t particularly close. She may be cordial with you, but she’s like that with everyone. So why the interest?”

“…I know that…Sephia is considered…different,” Ikaris began, “from a behavioral standpoint – but- tha- that’s not- I don’t think of her any less because of it.” This was much harder than he expected.

Druig lifted one of his eyebrows, signaling for the taller Eternal to continue.

“I like her ‘quirks’ – I can’t say I understand what they are, but – I know that-that they are a part of her, and not in a way that her powers are hers. But I also know that, that they don’t make up who she is as a whole.” Why was his throat closing up? “And…I like that she sees me.”

“…Yeah, no shit genius, it’s not like you can turn invisible. Believe me, not seeing your face would be a great improvement to my life.”

Ikaris scowled while turning so he could fly far from the black-clad armored telepath, “Forget it, I don’t know why I thought to share this with you of all people-”

“You don’t feel judged around her, is that it?”

Ikaris stopped, and once more faced Druig. The shock on his face was almost hilarious…if only Druig wasn’t about to completely expose himself at the moment, then he could at least properly enjoy the dumbfounded look on Ikaris’ face.

“Do you feel like you can talk to her about anything? That you could trust someone with something so humiliating? And then you’re angry because once you actually said those, you’ve realized that you’ve given someone full ammunition of yourself for them to use against you?”

The silence between the two powerful immortals was stifling.

“But then time passes,” Druig continues on, “and even after you pushed them away, they still accept you. Because they saw you, not an image other people projected on to you. And despite all reason, they decided to stand beside you.”

Ikaris’ eyes were bulging out of his head, “How- how did you know-?”

“I know, because I’ve been there,” Druig’s eyes softened just a tad, “with Kaety.”

…What?

“…Well, if you’re so curious about their companionship, I suppose the best way would be to ask directly from the source.” Druig reasoned as he pointed his head to two figures walking towards them.

You, in a soft white tunic with a long pink skirt with some brass jewelry. Today, you decided to let your hair loose with a few braids. Ikaris thought it was a bit curious on how you detested the humans’ worship of you, yet you still preferred their clothing options as opposed to your armor that showed your Olympian origins. However, armor or not, you still glowed a soft and heavenly aura unique only to you. You were in deep conversation with Kaetlyn, who wore a simple white linen dress with a patterned dark blue border skirt and a silver chained belt, and styled her hair in a loose braid.

Noticing the figures in front of them, Kaetlyn immediately pulled a look of just absolute disgust at the realization that Ikaris of all people was interrupting her peaceful day. Curious to your friend’s strange reaction, you turned your head and let out a warm smile and waved enthusiastically to the two men. You were well-aware of your friend’s distaste of the taller Eternal, but he was always kind with you. Besides, if you could occasionally put up with Kingo’s hubris, Kaety could certainly tolerate Ikaris’ company for a few moments.

Druig stepped in view, and Ikaris saw how quickly your feral companion’s expression changed at the sight of her lover. She lightly jogged to meet him in the middle as she threw her arms around his neck. Looking the strange sight, Ikaris noted that when she genuinely smiled, she looked almost…approachable? Druig took Kaetlyn in his arms, and the two pressed their lips together in a tender kiss. And just like that, the spell was broken and Ikaris was inwardly cringing from disgust as he turned his head away from the sight.

As a result, he was unable to see Druig lean forward and softly whisper to her ear of the plight that their mutual grey-streaked hair irritation was experiencing. Wanting to dismiss it immediately, Kaetlyn recalls all the times your cheeks lightly flushed in Ikaris’ company. And despite her obvious distaste for the man, she could tell that he at least wanted to genuinely understand her best friend. And she was more than positive that you were feeling “something” for him; however unaware you were of it yourself. Taking pity on the man, she walked over to you and explained how Druig wanted to explore the area for hidden caves. As a result, you and her would have to continue your discussions of how to properly develop the Punica granatum and its nutritional benefits for expectant mothers at another time. But luckily, Ikaris would be more than happy to escort you back to the Domo.

Before walking away, Ikaris felt a sharp pinch to his side, and looked down to find Kaetlyn’s shadow pinching his? Annoyed, he looked up to reprimand her, but his blood ran cold meeting the shadow Eternal’s gaze.

“Do anything that causes her discomfort,” her eyes seemed to shout, “and I will make your own shadow tear you apart bit by bit.” Quickly turning her head, the dark wisps quickly reattached themselves to their mistress. And the two Eternals were left alone with only themselves for company.

Looking back at you as you basked in the daylight, its golden light only enhancing the glow from your softness. Ikaris had only one thought in his head as he tries his damnedest to not reach out and press your suppleness against his hard frame.

“Fuck.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KUNIKIDA! sorry guys decided to do this instead of what you wre expecting HAHA anyway

my top 5 kunikida cards from mayoi

based on a mix of strength, utility, art, and just vibes

NOTE: this is purely based on what Mayoi has blessed me with. that, unfortunately, does not include the Masquerade and Chinatown ones WARNING: barely coherent ramblings and lots of simping HAHA

5: [Harvest Moon]

Oh the tears of joy I wept when I finally got this even after the event... how could I not cry? Look at it! Kunikuni with a bunny! AND it's animated! tho ngl not a fan of the animation

Art and concept aside, it's part of the top 5 because it's actually pretty useful. Decent ATK, one-hit-kill + azure orbs to omni, not to mention its leader skill reduces turns for active skill? Pretty good!

4: [Doppo Poet]

A classic. His first SSR. But it really is good and I do use him a lot because of how strong his active skill is. 100% ATK and 100% marble force increase, and best part is it lasts for 3 turns! Not one I'd put as the leader definitely, but it's a great support for the rest of the team.

3: [Rainy Season]

The first smiley Kuni card I have would be the [Resplendent Banquet] - and imo it's STILL the cutest sprite and skill animation - but aside smile I have to give it to [Rainy Season] for giving us a beautiful, colorful, and amazing leader of a card. I ADORE the skill animation as well, but this card isn't ranked higher because the active skill isn't that great.

2: [Year of the Tiger]

I'm a big fan of the traditional stuff - better if it's got the traditional vibes like this one! The washed out colors, the composition of the main art, and just the overall concept is definitely in my taste. Another smiley Kuni (ofc) but more subtle and more of a proud type. I just LOVE this card because it has a great leader AND active skill. It's just not higher because I'm biased towards...

1: [Joyous Night]

This is my second SSR Kuni ever and it's still my favorite to this day. I gave nearly all my moons then JUST for the art (card change one) because LOOK. He's SMILING. He's HAPPY. He's got his HANDS in his POCKETS. He's HOT in his SUIT-

No but seriously as a concept plus the colors and composition of the main artwork AND the cute contented sprite - I just HAD to get it. Thank you Mayoi for blessing me with this AGH

The reason why it's also one of my all-time favs is because of its active skill. I'm biased towards high ATK (150%) increase + something else, and that something else just happens to be "piercing marble" effect which is super useful. You could finish two waves in just two turns with this one.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: FAV SRs

3: Fish- I mean [Vivid Color]

It's a strong SR. The leader skill isn't great BUT paired with other SRs its active skill is actually pretty decent. Also, fish.

2: Azure Ki- I mean [Tarot]

Honestly, the only reason why this ranks higher than Vivid Color is because the art is *chef's kiss* HAHA The active skill is meh but at least the leader skill is good!

1: Fish again- I mean [Enjoying Nature]

Great leader skill. Decent active skill. Man's about to enjoy his favorite hobby. Need I say more?

Activities

What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Nagito wants to spend as much time with you as humanly possible. That's just a fact. To him, you are the brightest beacon of hope he has ever seen. He can tell by the way you act to him and others. Not many people even want to be in the same vicinity as him, let alone take the time out of their lives to make conversations with him literally everyday. He is utterly amazed. He would be absolutely happy with anything you want to do, hands down.

He mostly wants to spend his free time with you, so he doesn’t have much time to spend on any hobbies. Though, if no one is interacting with him and he seems something messy, he will definitely take the time to make it look spotless. He is very good at cleaning! Though, he may never admit it. If you ever ask him about his hobbies, he will just say something like this.

“Spending time with you is my hobby! You radiate such large amounts of hope, it’s like pure ecstasy!! How can anyone even think about walking away from you when you are literally hope itself!”

If you persist, he will admit that he doesn’t really have any hobbies.

Beauty

What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

Everything. EVERYTHING. He admires everything about you. And that’s not even exaggerating, he truly does. And if you ever ask him what his absolute favorite is, he will say something like this.

“Oh, but that’s impossible! Everything about you is my absolute favorite! Your beautiful, shining eyes that sparkle with hope whenever I look at them, your gorgeous body that looks stunning in anything you wear, no matter what your brain may tell you, your cute, adorable cheeks that flush whenever you get embarrassed, ahhhhh! It’s all so amazing! You're so incredibly hopeful!!”

Just thinking about how hopeful you are makes him hot all over. He will start to shake from excitement, wrapping his arms around himself. [You know the sprite ;)] and oh fucking Christ if you give him a hug to calm down, he will literally faint.

Comfort

How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

If he ever saw you, the symbol of absolute hope equivalent to Izuru fucking kamakura, the angelic being that has decided down into his Dispear-filled world to help better society and himself out of the graciousness of your kind soul, having a panic or anxiety attack?! This needs to stop. NOW! He can’t allow this. As the stepping stool he calls himself, he would feel so much disgusting Dispear if he didn’t automatically appear at your side and tend to you like the caregiver he can be. (Fuck, is it just me or would this guy be a great caregiver? Sorry ha- ;v;)

He would probably say something like this.

“Y-Y/N?! Are you alright?! Can I touch you? I-I..

know someone as discusting as me shouldn’t be-

Ah! I-I didn’t mean it! Here, let me help your breathing. Is that okay? Okay, take a deep breath in… and a deep breath out. You're doing great! I knew a bright, shining symbol of hope such as yourself could be able to overcome this Dispear!”

And if you need praise and comfort? This guy is literally the BEST at praising people!! Even if he is snarky something- And he is very smart too so he will know how to asses the situation and know exactly what to say!

“There is no need to worry about anything when I am here. At a mere stepping stool, it’s my job to- ah, I’m sorry. As your b-b.. boyfriend, it’s my job to make sure I handle anything and everything that could give you Dispear and make sure we can conquer it together and form an even brighter hope! I-I’m sorry for all my ranting about hope… would you like it if we stayed holding each other for a few more minutes? Your still shaking and I wouldn’t even be able to look myself in the mirror if I wasn’t here to help you. Hey, why not head over to… m-my dorm if you would like?”

(I know he isn’t the kind of guy to stutter, but it’s hard for him to not be constantly degrading himself. But, he will try his hardest not to since you sis stop didn’t like it. He is a very considerate guy when it comes to his partner <3)

Dreams

How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Dreams? His dreams have already come to fruition! He has gotten to meet, and even gets the opportunity to date, the greatest hope in the universe! What more could he wish for?

But, he does daydream sometimes about moving into a house together where he can make sure you live the best life you can.

“It’s what they deserve as the ultimate beacon of hope! They deserve everything and anything I can do or provide for them!”

To put it bluntly, his dreams are your dreams. Like if you want to travel somewhere but don’t have the money or time, he will secretly buy plane tickets (I’m talking luxury class tickets, he’s got a looooot of money-) and have… “talks” with your employer about giving you the week off. Next thing you know, your snuggled up to him, staring out of the plane window at the ocean below. <3 Or if you dreamed of getting a certain expensive item and briefly talked about the item in question to him, you would wake up the next day to a fancy present tied with a plush bow resting at the end of the bed. Or if you wanted to improve yourself (physically, mentally, academically/work wise) he would give you anything you needed. Yearly Work out membership? Therapist appointments? A tutor? Shadowing programs? He would be head over heels to help you!! You are his everything, after all.~

Equal

Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

He’s pretty much anything you want him to be if you asked him because he is equally passive and dominant. He doesn’t really feel worthy to be in charge much in the relationship so he will leave the reins to you. But, if there is a problem that he feels the need to immediately fix, he will take the reins from you. Just briefly. The last thing he wants to do is do something you don’t want.

Fight

Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

Depends on the argument, but generally, yes. He doesn’t want you to feel the disgusting feelings of Despair because of something he did. But, he isn’t a very forgiveful person. I mean, he isn’t stubborn, but he does hold a little bit of a grudge sometimes. Like, if you two got in a heated argument about his ideals of hope, he would never back down. I’m sorry, but to this guy, hope is everything. Hope is what leads life on. Hope is what keeps people going. So when the arguments were about it, it would usually end up with your tears. (Remembering sassy Nagito from trial 5-)

But as soon as he sees your tears, he shatters. Yes, he still stands with his belief of sacrificing anything for hope, something he will never sacrifice is you. You are literally the definition of hope, after all. He would reconcile with you and make sure you both don’t go to bed angry or sad.

“M…m.. m-my h-hope, I’m so sorry, please don’t cry. C-Can I wipe away your tears? Yes? Okay, I’m s-such a piece of garbage to have made the epitome of hope cry… you can hit me if you want- no? Ah, you're so kind to me, even when you are upset. It’s so hopeful… you're so hopeful…”

Gratitude

How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He. Is. Grateful. Every. Single. Day. All day. Any day.

He truly feels as though he doesn’t deserve you, as though he doesn’t even deserve to be grateful. But, even so, he is EXTREMELY grateful. Every day when he wakes up before you, he smiles lovingly at your sleeping body. Hesitates before kissing you on the nose.

“Your so magnificent, my… hope. Yes, my hope. You are my hope. He’s pretty honest, but he does keep some secrets. Mostly ones that don’t really matter in his mind, like if he needs help with something. But, he has some special secrets he has locked in his heart. These secrets are the things that he has experienced in his childhood and his mental state. He knows the events of his upbringing are very hard to hear, he wouldn’t want you to worry about him. Worrying is his job, not yours. And he also wouldn’t want to worry you about his mental state and because, it’s sad to say but, he is so used to having no one to rely on that even the thought of telling you makes him insanely nervous. But maybe with a lot of determination and praise from you, maybe he might crack a small bit. Just for you. Just for his hope.

“Heheh… it’s nothing special, really. I wouldn’t want someone as special as you to worry about me. You're supposed to fill the world with your glorious hope! You couldn’t do that if you were weighted down by my stupid backstory. So please, there is no need to worry!”

Inspiration

Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

You have drastically changed him. Kinda. He used to be a social outcast. He had no one. Not even himself. He would go to sleep every night thinking of all the ways someone could kill him to bright about the greater hope to others. That’s what would help him sleep at night. And those nights he couldn’t, he would stay up all night long having a panic attack about how useless he is. He even thinks he is useless and pathetic for having panic attacks in the first place! He would constantly call himself names, out loud and internally. He never even questioned it.

But enough with the angst, because when you came along, everything. Out. Of. The. Damn. Window! Your changed everything!! He was no longer alone. He was even learning to value himself more than trash. He was learning to accept himself for who he was. A person. Not trash, not scum, not garbage. Just a person.

“A… special person? Me? W-wh- h- how? I’m not, I’m- ah, I-I’m sorry. Y-you… you think im… special? You really do? Your… so kind to me.”

His tears of self hatred turned into tears of bliss and joy. You're so patient with him, so kind, so caring. Almost like you were the ultimate therapist or something.

On the nights where he would have those thoughts again, now you were there to hold him. To bring his shaking, frail body close to yours as you whispered sweet nothings into his ear. With a hand petting his fluffy white locks and another holding his hand, he felt his body instantly relax.

“Ahhh…. My… hope.. is so kind… to me.”

After a few tears trickled down his smiling face, he fell asleep quicker than he had ever before. All because of you. You changed him.

Jealousy

Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

“Jealous? Hahaha! Why would I be jealous of you and Hajime? Hajime is just a pathetic reserve course student with no talent. And you, I know you deserve the very best! He could never give you everything you deserve like I ca- huh? What do you mean I’m being jealous!?”

He can’t help it. He may think he doesn’t deserve it, but something inside of him bubbles hotly with rage as he watches others get a little too close with you. He tried not to show it. He’s only jealous because he loves you. It comes with the position of being your boyfriend. He would walk up behind you when someone was talking to you a little too intensely and lean over you and stare daggers at the person. At the scum in front of him.

‘You scum. You don’t deserve this shining beacon of hope. Not even me.. I think… anyways, you deserve all the despair they shouldn’t get to feel. You are too putrid for hope. Too scummy. You will never deserve the celestial hope they radiate.”

Kiss

Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Well… it depends. But generally, nope. He has been an outcast his whole life, even with his happy appearance, so he is definitely inexperienced when it comes to all things intimate. So much so that you will most likely be his first kiss. He doesn’t know what to do when you press your hopeful lips against his. Your beautiful face, your arms around his, so hopeful. You're so hopeful. So much hope! His mind would probably fizzle out and combust right after, with a bright red face and deep, swirling eyes.

“Hahhhh… my… hope… that was so, hah, magical.”

Just give this man a second to catch his breath.

His first kiss with you was probably due to his god forsaken curse of his unending luck.(more like misfortune) He was walking down the street to get to school, like every day, until suddenly someone riding a bike came out of nowhere and knocked him against a tree. He rubbed his bruised leg with a pain filled sign until he heard a suspicious creaking noise. Next thing he knew, he was rolling down a hill, tied to the trunk of the tree. As the log gained a surprising about of speed, the twigs tying him down snapped and he was perplexed into the air. As he looked down at the ground rapidly approaching, he saw the shape of… someone’s body?

There you were, soaking in the sun on a blanket, enjoying life as a much needed break from your studies. Your eyes were closed so they didn’t burn off form staring into the blistering sun, so you didn’t see the rapidly approaching Nagito as he pinned twards you.

Mmph?!?

You heard a loud thump as you felt something fall on top of you. You were lucky most of the impact was felt by Nagito as he landed on his forearms and knees, which nested themselves next to your body. But most importantly to the both of you was the press of his lips against yours. Your eyes opened and you felt your heart stop as you saw the most beautiful angel laying on top of you, kissing you!! Was this a dream? Or is your brain suffering from a heat stroke and making you see things?! After a few confused seconds, you decided to take what fate has given you a run with it. (Not literally. Or maybe-) you wrapped your arms around his small waist, pressing his body against yours, deepening the kiss.

And let me tell you, HE WAS SEEING STARS! I kid you not, he literally fainted from the immense hope he was feeling. (Which you would find would be common behavior from him due to his love for hope and his poor health, which made it easy for him to accidentally faint.)

Love Confession

How would they confess to their s/o?

Hate to break it to you, but I don’t think he would ever find the will power in him to confess to you. It would have to be you yourself. And when you do, his mind is in turmoil. He is so extremely compelled to except

beyond the shadow of a doubt, but the lurking feelings of inferiority are stuck like a stain in his mind. Eventually, after a few kinda awkward seconds of him hugging his body and panting, (Yn the sprite {part two}) he would take your hands in his and exclaim that he would be over the moon to be with you. He would begin to ramble about everything and anything he thinks of at that moment.

“I would be so happy to be with you if that's what you want! Ah! The immense hope I’m feeling is so beautiful! I’ll do anything for you! Anything! I’ll make you shine with the light for the supreme hope! I’ll polish you with the blood and tears of others if that's what you would like me to do! You will have absolute hope! Y-You are already absolute hope itself! This is so amazing, my luck has certainly peaked the highest it’s ever been in my whole entire existence on this day! Hahaha… ahahah… HAHAHAAHAH! T-ThIS IS WONDERFUL!! AHHHAHA!”

He once again wrapped his arms around himself, trying to relax himself but to no avail. You try to relax him as well, but after a few minutes, his blushing body collapses against yours, an erotic look on his face as he falls unconscious. He might need a few days to recover, but after it, he’s all yours!~

Marriage

Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the wedding be like?

Scratch that, moving in with you is second on his list of dreams now. Marrying you is now first. And this time, he has actually developed some confidence because of your constant help and influence. So, he uses his surplus funds and buys you a pure, sparkling white diamond in a beautifully crafted design. Only the best will do for his hope! And, it’s a long story, but he takes you on a trip to his hometown. (Because you have been persistent on wanting to get to know what he has been through, against his wishes of keeping it a secret.) he sits down with you at a park bench and tells you everything. Yes, everything. In chronological order, as well. After many hours of talking, tears are streaming down his face as you hold him in your arms, cradling him from the hurtful world. At he adjusts his position, he feels the box containing the ring in his pocket and suddenly remembers why he came here in the first place. He steps in front of you, kneeling down and opening the box. Your teary eyes light up.

“My beautiful reader… the everlasting, shining hope of my life, the reason I’m still alive to this day, will you please marry me?”

Well, guess who said yes? ;)

And when you did, he Lowkey started hyperventilating. After a soothing pep talk from you, he knew he chose the right person.

The wedding was extravagant. He gave you full creative liberty over everything. After all, anything his ultimate hope would pick would be the best option possible, at least in his mind. Though, when you said you wanted to invite your old classmates from class 77-B, he was quick to object. He didn’t know if he not only deserved to have their presence there but also if they would even want to be there in the first place. But, after your affirming words, he admitted it would be kind of nice to have everyone there on the most special occasion in his entire life. After all the preparations were made, ei finding the perfect location, decor, outfits, invitations, wedding officiants, maids and men of honor, ring bearer, etc, all that was left was to wait. And fuck, was he nervous. He is not usually the nervous type, (Cough cough Shuichi), but something about the looming idea he was literally going to get married to the love of his life he had been crushing on ever since he was in Highschool made his mind reel more than normal. But, after some intervention by his beautiful hope, he will feel a lot better.

(Cuz this is getting a bit long, I’ll summarize)

The wedding was better than he could have ever imagined. It was, quite frankly, the best day of his life. Even better than when he won the lottery, even better than when he got into hope's peak, and even better than the day he graduated hope’s peak. When his classmates got the letter of invitation, they were absolutely flabbergasted that Nagito, the guy they thought would be lonely his whole life due to his obsessive behavior, had got hitched before they did! Soda was the most enraged, saying how he had only gone on one date in his whole life. Meanwhile Nagito is living his dream! Chisa ended up finding out as well and wrote you a letter, asking if she could come. She was practically in tears before the ceremony even began. She was just so happy that he finally found something stable and healthy in his life. She knows he certainly needs it. At the wedding, Nagito waited anxiously. His eyes swirled over with anticipation of his luck ruining everything for him. His mind spun with thoughts of something terrible happening. But, they all evaporated when he saw you walk down the aisle. At that moment, he was almost blinded by your hope, but he couldn’t take his eyes off of you. You looked like an Angel dressed in your all white fluffy dress, with a sparkling veil trailing behind you. He could feel tears pouring down his face, a bright smile permanently etched into his face. You were so beautiful. And now you were his. His beautiful hope.~

(Ngl, Hajime, fuyuhiko, and soda were the men of honor, Gundham’s 12 hamsters were the flower girls, and Chiaki was the ring bearer.)

Nicknames

What do they call their s/o?

Hope. You are his hope. But in all seriousness, in the beginning of the relationship, he is a bit too nervous to use nicknames or pet names. He doesn’t think he deserves it and that you will think he is weird for it. But after a while when his deprecation subsided, he will absolutely call you his hope. If he is feeling in a more lovey dovey mood, he will attach some sort of praising adjective to the front and call you his. (I e his beautiful hope, his amazing hope, his shining hope, etc.)

On Cloud Nine

What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

Stupid question. The second he started dating you he felt like he was on cloud nine, and you bet your sweet ass everybody who was around him could tell. His eyes swirl like how they do when he is feeling exceptionally obsessed with hope, but instead of darkness, his eyes swirl with bright, passionate love and admiration for you and your existence in general. His face will flush red, and he might start sweating from the intensity of his feelings of love for you. And as stated before, it’s very easy to tell how he is feeling just by one quick glance when he is in this state. He shows his feelings by constant, and I mean constant (like he never fucking shuts up about you), praise pouring from his mouth. It first happened when you started dating in Highschool. Everyday, he was always floating around you, “soaking in your hope” as he would put it.

“You're so radiant, Reader! I could see your hope from a mile away. Would you mind if I sat right next to you? Ah, what a stupid question, of course you would- you.. you actually don’t mind? Ahaha… hahahahah!! Of course the amalgamation of the most divine hope would say it’s okay for a dirty piece of scum like me to sit next to them! Hahahaha!! You're so hopeful!” During class, he would have his eyes practically glued to you. It grew to a boiling point when Chisa threatened to move his seat if he didn’t focus in class. He is truly infatuated with you, even before you dated.

PDA

Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

There are two sides to this, your affection and his affection. But for him, he is not too keen on PDA. He would much rather have you all to himself, especially around people with no ultimate. They don’t deserve the amount of hope you radiate. He doesn’t even think he does sometimes, let alone strangers, so he much prefers affection alone. But, all of this is thrown out the window if we are talking about your affection. If you initiate anything in public, he will quickly adapt to meet what you want. He feels as though this is his purpose, to say the least.

“Ah! You’re.. hugging my arm? Do you… what a hug? Okay, come here then. Ahhh, you're so hopeful and warm. I could stay like this for days. Is it okay if I kiss you? It is? How wonderful! Letting scum like me taint your face with my chapped lips, you truly have the most glorious hope of all~”

Quirk

Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

To put it bluntly, it’s serving you. At least That's how he sees it in his mind. His whole entire reason to exist is to serve the greater hope of humanity, and that just so happens to be you. See it as beneficial or hurtful, he will serve you until his dying breath. As he said before in Ultra Despair Girls, “after all, I live to serve~” (or something like that-) You’re hungry? Well, he asked Teruteru how to make your favorite dish and had it waiting for you at the dinner table. Bored? I’ll put on a movie for you both to watch, play games with you, fuck it, he will make up a song and sing it for you if that’s what it will take for you to be eintertained. Stressed? He can’t have that, now can he. He’ll run an extravagant, warm bath for you. I’m talking scented candles, bubbles, even roses and snacks if that’s what you wish. Sad? He already has you laying on his chest, gently rubbing your scalp with the tips of his fingers, softly whispering praises into your ear. And if you don’t prefer physical affection, he will shower you in stuffed animals, weighted blankets, and, once again, his praise. (He fucking loves praising you-)

Romance

How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

He can be the most romantic person you have ever met if that's what you want, but normally, he doesn’t think he deserves anyone, he doesn’t even think about being romantic for a second. That was until he met you. Now, he is very romantic and passionate about you, his beloved hope. He would do literally anything to make you happy. He knows no self control. Even if you tell him he doesn’t have to do all the things he does for you, he acts confused. He doesn’t have to? Of course he does! He’s the servant of hope, worshiper, if you will. Which means he is a worshipper of you, as well. When he is feeling in a very romantic mood, he will give you flowers, sent your voice messages about how much he loves you, all kinds of presents for no particular occasion, give you a massage, have a date night, go to a fancy restaurant and kiss you in the rooftop, go to a carnival and win prizes for you with his luck, and even say you can use him however you wanted for the night~ (sorry for mixing lime stuff in your fluff ;v;) But his favorite way to share is romantic feelings for you is go outside and make you a flower crown of four leaf clovers (it may not be the most well made flower crown, but he made it with his love for you, so it’s still special) he likes doing this because he thinks it’s fun to use his luck to make you happy in a way that isn’t too… extreme. If you know what I mean. And besides, he thinks you look like an adorable fairy goddess with it on.

“You're so precious, my hope. Those clovers compliment your eyes so well! Your like the goddess of hope, coming down from the heavens to bless me with your hopefulness! It’s so beautiful! Hahaha!”

Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

Constantly. That's the answer to both questions. He constantly supports you in any way he can. It’s what comes with the job of serving you. (Even though he should have a lot more self worth-) Though, he won’t just hand you your goal, even though he has the luck and the money to do it. He wants you to feel as though you earned it with your determination and work, and also because he knows you can defeat any despair you face with your immense amount of hope.

Thrill

Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

Well… the thing is, Nagito likes routine. But because of how crazy his life is due to his luck cycle, it’s practically impossible, unfortunately. So any small slivers of routine or normality he can get, he cherishes. (Not as much as you or hope tho) For example, you and him would be walking to school together, (here we go again-), and suddenly a swarm of bugs would come out of nowhere and buzz around you both, and like a normal person, you would scream. He would wrap his arms around you to protect you, and sooner or later, they found fly again. Good thing they didn’t sting or else Nagito would be looking very red. But, to your surprise, he was pretty red. Red in the face. You wondered why. Did he get a fever? or an illness from the bugs? But as you thought, you felt something touching you and you froze. While he was frantic to make sure you weren’t in danger by shielding you, he didn’t realize he had been pressing himself firmly against your breasts.

“Ah!! I’m so sorry! How unlucky… first bugs, and now this. Please, slap me! Or kick me as punishment for touching you without your consent like the dirty trash I am!”

Tears pricked at his eyes. He really was ashamed of himself, but he should have expected this. He knew his relationship would end sooner or later. It was just a matter of time, after all. But, instead of striking him in the cheek, you hugged him.

“…huh? You… You’re hugging me? But why? I just- But I- you… forgive me? You forgive trash like me? Ah… I should have expected this from the embodiment of hope such as yourself… so forgiving and merciful towards scum like me… th…. Thank you..”

Understanding

How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

Normally, to others, he is pretty empathetic when it comes to hope. (Like, I’m that one scene in his OVA where he wa really happy for Sōda) But, he doesn’t really care about people with no ultimate talent, such as the reserve course students. He looks down on them, unable to care about how they feel. But, to you, he will always try his best to be empathetic, ultimate or not. But, this doesn’t make him the best at it. It’s kind of hard for him to understand how otters are feeling if he hasn’t felt that way before. So whenever you self deprecate yourself, have low self esteem, or try to hurt yourself, he can relate to you. He went through times in his life before he met you were he could hardly even look in a mirror because he saw himself as such of a worthless scumbag. He wanted to hurt himself, or better yet, have others hurt him so they could feel the pleasures of hope wash over themselves. He didn’t care if it meant he would be mentally damaged for the vast majority of his life. To him, it would be worth it. But now, he couldn’t even imagine that happening to himself anymore. And it’s all because of you. So, to see you in any state simulator to his would be a tragedy.

“My hope?! W-What are you saying?! You are not trash, who told you that?! This.. this can’t- no this isn’t right! You are the ultimate hope! You are everything good in this world! Value

How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?

It’s everything to him. And that’s no exaggeration. It truly is. He can’t even imagine a reality where you aren’t in it. If one very did exist, it would only be a life of despair. And a life of despair of no life at all. Though, if you compare your relationship with hope, it’s balanced. He loves both hope and you equally. I mean, you are hope itself, anyway. It may sound insensitive to say, but it’s true. But, this doesn’t undermine the fact that when he loves things, he loves them more than he can take, more than his body is able to make him feel. He could never put it in words. (That’s why he cats the way he does when he thinks about hope and when he thinks about you. He acts the same because you both are equally as important to him as eating and sleeping. Actually, fuck that, he could live a happy life if he could only survive on hope and you.) it’s like a beautiful gold table, one leg of hope, the other one is of you. Both are equally magnificent and important to him. And together, they make something he could never put into words <3

Wild Card

A random Fluff Headcanon.

If you ever joked about him being your sugar daddy and how if you didn’t have a job, he could financially support you and himself, he would automatically think it was an invitation. He would start browsing for all kinds of very expensive accessories, outfits, tech, you name it, he’ll search for it. Before you can clarify that it was just a joke, you heard a ring at the front door. And to your surprise, he had already bought a bunch of things you had been talking to yourself about, not thinking he was listening to you. (stalker behavior-) as soon as you finally explain, he apologizes relentlessly.

“I’m so sorry, my hope, please forgive me. I just wanted to make you feel more hopeful. But… if that’s something you ever want in the future, I’ll be more than happy to be your sugar daddy.”

(To say you had a nose bleed would be an understatement.)

But to be a little more fluffy, and as what was talked about before… Every morning, before you wake up for work/school, he stares at you with a love sick expression.

“You're so beautiful, even while you sleep~”

(Kinda creepy-) he’ll steal a couple quick kisses to your cheeks and forehead before getting up. After putting on some clothes, he makes his way to the kitchen and begins making you some breakfast. But, instead of your usual quick meals, he wants to make you something “more fitting for an ultimate hope”, as he calls it. He will pull all the stops, big fluffy pancakes and waffles with fruit, eggs, bacon, all arranged in a cliché smiley face. He even made you some warm chocolate cookies so he could see you wake up with a hopeful smile!

Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

To say he is very affectionate would be an understatement. He is practically glued to your side all the time. He is just very, very touch starved due to losing his family and not having many, if any, friends. So as soon as he found something, an outlet of hope that he could allow himself to get close to, but bet your pretty face he would cuddle you all day long if you let him. But, to tell the truth, it will take a lot (I’m talking a loooot) of encouragement and reassurance that he isn’t the trashy person he sees himself as. But once he was passed that blockage in his life, he will be all over you. You’re lying on the couch? Well, he is laying ontop of you! Mmm, so comfy! You’re trying to go to sleep early? Well, would you mind if he joined you? And would you also mind if he cuddled so close to you your heartbeats synched? You’re sitting next to him in class? Would you mind if he gave you a few kisses before class starts?

“Mmmm~ your kisses are so hopeful! I can’t get enough of you. It feels so good to be so close to you. Your intoxicating hope is rushing through me! Hahah! Can I have a few more kisses, my hope?”

Yearning

How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Very, very, VERY poorly. He never wants to be away from you. It’s like a cruel form of torchure. He can’t take being away from you, even for a few hours. If he can, he will call you constantly, just to make sure you are okay. Not only does he miss being able to hug you close to his poor, lonely body, but also he fears that his luck would put you in danger without him being able to protect you. If you have to be alone for a few days, He would find himself opening your closet and, with shaky hands, grabbing a few pieces of your clothing and cuddling up to them to help him sleep. Luckily, just smelling your scent is enough to make him feel less lonely. He would spend the days apart either calling you, cleaning the house, or calling some of his friends to hopefully make him feel less despair. (You better know he would call his loneliness despair.) and when you eventually come home, he would freak the fuck out. (In a good way.) He would tackle you as soon as you enter the house, picking you up and placing you on the bed, curling himself up to you and sobbing. He’s just so happy, of course he would start crying. He can’t help it.

“My hope!! Your back!!! I missed you so much! Ahahahah! Hahh~ your hope feels so good! I couldn’t bear being without you for any longer. Please, can we cuddle? I missed cuddling with you to sleep every night. Please? I… I really want to. W-We can? AhhhahH! Your so sweet to me! So, so hopeful! So hopeful! Ahhahahaha!!!”

He might have a bit of a mental breakdown due to the shock of feeling so good once again, so please comfort him just as he comforts you.

Zeal

Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

Abso-Fucking-Lutly! He would literally kill people for you! (Please don’t-) he would do anything! Nothing is off limits! Besides becoming despair or giving up hope. He would spend all his money on anything you wanted, take you to all the places in the world, or even start a family with you if that's what you wanted!

I know you get a lot of Sergei love, but I just really wanted to add my own to the pile. I think I've been following you and playing the demo from the start, and hadn't even thought of him as an RO cause he wasn't presented that way. But then the asks started up and you mentioned considering adding a route for him and I got so excited.

I'm 40, you see, and while it's very fun creating a cute 20 something stray and getting to run around in their shoes, the younger ROs don't resonate as much with me personally cause old. They're all adorable and i love them so much (so so much!), but romancing Sergei just added so much more immersion for me. You did an amazing job writing a route that I wasn't sure would work with his trauma, but it's beautiful and messy and perfect and so very human. And very respectful of his experiences.

I'm babbling and i know it but you're a lovely person who deserves to feel more confident in your writing, so i wanted to tell you how much it means to me and to let you know that you have already had more reach than perhaps you realized.

I'm really glad you like Sergi. As an older character, he does bring something quite special and unique to the table, which is a big part of the reason why I decided to go ahead and make him an RO. It's really great knowing that he feels genuine to you, especially with the trauma he experiences in the story.

Also, thanks so much for being here and supporting my writing. I am still self conscious about my writing but sharing Blood Moon both here and on the forum has been a HUGE step for me and has made me feel way better both about my writing, and about myself. Back in 2020, if someone had told me I'd be publishing a massive Choicescript game, plus running a tumblr blog, and a KoFi account in a couple of years, I would not have believed them. It's been amazing. I hope I can keep learning and growing this way for years.

Also! Yeah! I noticed there is a way to make ren'py display as something closer to a novel rather than a visual novel. I'm really excited to play around with that more. I think ren'py is a really good tool and I love how functional things like the load/save function is (which seems silly, but coming out of Choicescript, that's a huge plus). I'm really hoping I have time to explore more with it this year and maybe write another couple of short games to share.

New Years Post '22

Hello Everyone!

It is so crazy to think that we are ready to being a new year! The 20s have been a crazy time - but I am thankful that I have gotten to continue them with all of you! In order to properly appreciate the year, I thought it would be nice to reflex on what this blog has done this year.

This was a developing month for Callista! We started an ask challenge that will never be finished - I am sure. Got our first ask for Shu and Reiji for her - which was so fun to answer. We had a fun Pink Moon that month too!

Finished up the last of the ask challenge for Callista - sorry again I will never finish. Most of this month was about the Wedding of Shu and Callista - all prompted by you guys! I loved that you were all so interested! We had Shu's attire - the wedding set up ! It was asked about Shu's sadistic side.

We also got to talk about Burai and Rose's relationship! My favorite thing tho - is getting to muse about the different wedding traditions for the different major demon clans! It was so much fun!

More Kanato art reblogs. The major thing this month was the 'Demon' Art for the Diaboys. Which is funny cause they are demons - but that is fine. My main 'problem' with this line - is that ALL THE BOYS are clearly different types of Oni - or like horned demon. But Azusa and Kino are Tengu.... like what? Why!?

Started the month with some Pokemon Musing in order to prepare for the new games! We looked at Yuuki, Kanato, Kanaye, Yukio and Rini's teams! There will be changes now that the new Pokemon are out - stay tuned for those post!

Probably one of my FAVORITE DiaLover lines Black x Aquamarine was released this month! I loved seeing all of the OC art for this~! It still makes me smile seeing everyone's art for this line - cause it was the best!

Personal Blog wise, I finally published the official layout for the character bios. Yuki was my first - and his came out beautifully. We also got a beautiful commission from @seven-re for Rose - which is absolutely perfect.

Idk if you're sick of our submas origin stories yet but I do kinda wanna share mine lol. I played white when it first came out, but I barely remember anything about it except that I didn't really like it (because my brother didn't like it and he was always right 🙄) but I highly doubt I tried the battle subway. I eventually bought black 2 because I heard the sequels were better but I never really played it much. I was just never in the right mood lol. Then back in 2020 I had a lot of time on my hands and watched the entire anime, so I think that's really my intro to submas, but while I enjoy their mini arc, I didn't really care about them.

Then I started playing pla and after getting sucked in to submas I decided to pick up black 2 to solve the mystery lmao and I loved it! I think black 2 is my favorite pokemon game. It has a lot of things that make it convenient, but not easy like bdsp. And the plot was incredible, but I was missing a lot of context since I didn't remember literally anything about white lmao so I picked white back up again and beat it and it was also incredible! My brother was so wrong about gen 5 and white I think is my second favorite game (there were just some minor changes in gameplay in the sequels that made it more convenient lol)

Anyway I've beaten ingo in the singles line, I only made it to the second car of the super singles, and I can not for the life of me beat Emmet. On the rare occasion I even make it to him he destroys me. Anyway, I haven't figured out why ingo is in pla, but it's thanks to that I got to experience some really amazing games with compelling plots, great pokemon, and most importantly, incredible music lol. Sorry I was gonna try to keep this short 😬

yeah i definitely feel the same about gen 5 even though i don't have a lot of time with it, it still seems like the gen that was one of the best (i guess i kinda feel gen 4 was really good too, i know it's special for a lot of people, but i never finished diamond and i've heard platinum is what you should probably play if playing gen 4 just because of extra things idk. but gen 4 for me sounds like what gen 5 was for you at first. just never in the right mood lol also i think just because gen 4 felt slow with the health bars and things idk i tried and i really REALLY adore the sprites in that gen they're absolutely beautiful)

i can totally relate to the trouble with emmet, i feel like i have more trouble in double battles so he'd probably wipe the floor with me too 💀

Fated Rantings: Airgetlám

It's been a while, no? Welcome to my 11th (or was it 12th?) march into the Fate series. Albeit it delayed by covid, I finally saw the second of the two Camelot movies.

I made a small post after watching the first movie but I didn't make my usual long post for it since it was one part of two and because I had little to say.

In fact, some of what I said in that post apply to both films. Such as how the pacing feels a bit rushed, some characters change quickly, and some events are moved around or removed.

However, I can't call these faults with the movies since they're adaptions of the FGO mobile game and do not let the "mobile game" moniker fool you, FGO has novel volumes of text.

Some of it's arcs are even written by the original novel writer Nasu. He may be even more involved than that but my development knowledge on FGO isn't as broad as other series.

All that you need to know is that there was no way to compress that full Singularity into a movie just as there's no way to compress FGO into a full anime.

The one FGO anime that does exist just covers one singularity in of itself. (Babylonia Front) That is how each entry is.

So while I won't fault the movies for such things I do still miss certain aspects the mobile text had. Such as the lengths to convince Ozymandias, the hilarious fact that Hassan had beheaded him before the story started, Sherlock Holmes making an appearance, etc.

Instead I'd rather focus on how the movies made story moments full highlights. Such as Arash's sacrifice, it was damn near beautiful. Then you have any scene with Da Vinci in them. There's a fun troll energy to everything she does and I liked seeing it animated.

The glow up of Nitocris also caught me off guard. Her sprite and art in FGO is "eh" but she's downright adorable in these movies...and more powerful than the game gave me an impression of.

I am also glad I got to see at least some of the uneasy tension between Lancelot and Mash. Mash, being possessed by Galahad, Lancelot's son, does not give him any slack. You only see bits of it in the movie but each scene reminded me of the sheer disapproval Galahad has for Lancelot in the game.

For as badass as Lancelot is in legend, for all his power as a spirit, he can't deal with his son and it's amazing.

I also haven't forgotten other characters such as the Hassan's, the mountain people or even our leads Mash and Fujimaru but I will admit I have little to say about them.

The mountain people are shown little for the novel to movie compression reasons I already covered and the Hassan of the Arm and Serenity are good characters but I do not know what add about them.

I do like their characters thanks to the mobile games context but what you see is also what you get. They are great assassin's and the movie gives them great moments.

It would've been hard for them to compete with the original "Old man of the Mountain" anyway. Hassan, the real one, is legitimately intimidating and I looked forward to every scene he was in.

The way he taunts Gawain with the truth just moments after rendering his powerful holy sword useless. The way he just appears or vanishes, Hassan truly is death personified and you see even more of that ambiance in the game. Even a primordial god (tiamat) comes to fear him.

In turn, Mashu and Fujimaru are more or less "just there". Mash gets more interaction than Fujimaru but she does not take spotlight. The most significant of her time is in relation to Sir Galahad who had possessed her when FGO started.

Even then Galahad does not physically appear. He'll talk through Mash toward Lancelot but most of the relation is the other Knights realizing (usually in shock) that he is there thanks to Mash's shield.

You wonder why since Galahad doesn't appear in many movies/shows based on Arthurian legend but the short of it is Galahad's talent.

The Fate Galahad reflects his IRL myth, he was the perfect knight. He was nearly uncontested in swordplay, loyalty, and overall skill. He was the only knight to successfully get the Holy Grail, the real one.

In other words, even if just in spirit, Galahad's presence is to be feared. Him opposing knights is also a clear reminder to them that they're in the wrong because they know Galahad's moral compass is flawless.

Fujimaru felt the most like he was "just there" to me but I expected it in some form since he's just one of the two gender options for the FGO protagonist. A person you're supposed to name and see the PoV of in the game.

I see lots complain about how perfect or "overly good" he can be animated and while I can understand someone finding that annoying I also do not know what they expected. Fujimaru is a stand-in, they took the safe route with him for these films.

Granted, I know some of those complaints are levied at the Babylonia anime which is a bit more fair since it was a full anime production. It's also hard to not feel the flatness of him when you see his opposite, the female option in FGO dubbed "Gudako", being downright chaotic and funny in several Fate productions.

Her appearance in Carnival Phantasm is comedy skit gold and whoever wears her mascot attire in Japan is known for being a chaotic lil shit. I kid you not, look up videos.

And yes, I know that "Fujimaru" refers to both as well as that the male version is often called "Gudao". My point is that our mobile game PoV insert isn't too fleshed out a character nor do they have odd quirks to identify with.

I think this is fine because the two Camelot films aren't about Mash or Fujimaru. No, the true star of these films is Bedivere.

Knights of the Lion, Knight of the Round

I don't even know what to say about this man to get myself started. He, like most of the round table, is a tragic soul. More so in the Singularity than he is in other versions of history.

The movie didn't mention it but the sole reason this singularity existed, the catalyst for history altering, was Bedivere. Lion King Arthur is a result of Bedivere's actions, not the Mage King or the grail.

This movie also reminds me of the thing that pulled me into Fate to begin with, it's odd but loyal use of Arthurian legend. You may see female Arthur and laugh but do understand that King Arthur and his knights are more faithfully portrayed in Fate than they are most modern western media.

Bedivere is no exception. Everything from his personality to his fake arm are a nod to it. I'm not sure how true it is in Fate's history but the earliest versions of our history portray Bedivere as missing a hand (or arm) and while handsome he was not among Athur's most well known or even skilled knights.

He, however, was the most loyal. Galahad excelled in all areas but most knights matched (if not surpassed him) in one and for Bedivere that was loyalty.

That loyalty is shown in every version of Arthur's myth with his death. Bedivere was the one at his side when he died and he was the one that thrice approached the lake to return Excalibur.

It is also here where this version of Bedivere failed, in the final moment he was not loyal.

He could not accept Arthur's death and did not return the sword as instructed. That single act altered history and doomed it because Arthur was not by her tree when Bedivere returned.

He knew that Excalibur made her ageless & immortal but he didn't know that her holy spear Rhongomyniad did the same thing. By denying her Arthur's destined death she also held onto the spear and became a wandering spirit.

You see, the thing about gods in Fate is that many were originally something else before human faith and worship elevated them into a god. What Bedivere had no way of knowing is that centuries of wandering with a holy spear would eventually turn Arthur into a god or "divine spirit".

And this is more tragic than you can fathom because gods in Fate do not comprehend humanity. They are affected by it but they do not think on the same level and what they deem rational a person will not.

The great sin Bedivere committed here was rob King Arthur of her human heart. Something that her subjects already doubted that she had.

A good deal of Bedivere's guilt is see in the two movies as he realizes what exactly he has done.

He already felt guilt before the movies started and he was already warned by Merlin that the end of his journey would be rough but he didn't realize the extent of those words.

He, now ageless due to Excalibur, spent 1500yrs looking for Arthur hoping to apologize. A truly grueling punishment within the Fate series because souls, like bodies, degrade.

Your "essence" will go back to "the root" when you die but a soul can degrade overtime if left clinging to the mortal plane. For many, this results in their mind breaking and going mad.

Even the gods only thrive as long as the civilization that believes in them does. Nothing is eternal and that is the lesson Bedivere had to learn in the movies.

That's why I say that he is the star of this story. Over two films he has to learn that everything ends and that endings have meaning. Something doesn't just vanish when it's over.

He could not accept that Camelot was over or that Arthur was meant to be over.

Idolism

For many reading this you probably ponder "why?" but the movie also answers there albeit it in spurts. The best window into his loyalty and guilt is seen in how he reacts to the other knights.

Many of them look down on Bedivere even if they also praise his loyalty to the king to the point that him standing against the Lion King shocks them.

Even then, they see Bedivere as beneath them. Mordred especially chides Bedivere harshly for weakness. But what's telling is his words and replies to them, especially Mordred.

Bedivere looks down upon himself. Even after 1500yrs he does not understand why Arthur made him a knight when he's essentially just a normal person.

He was not blessed by faeries, he did not have a holy sword or other magical weapons...in Fate. Irl he supposedly had a magic spear but Fate seems to have forgone that.

In Bedivere's mind he's outclassed by the Knights of the Round in every possible aspect. Even his loyalty, the thing that the other knights were say he's best known for, is lacking in his eyes.

That does not mean Bedivere is a depressed or self loathing individual either...well originally. He's very harsh on himself in the movies for what he's caused but there's no indication he was that way originally.

He was truly at a loss as to why Arthur made him a knight and fully believed himself inadequate for the role but worked his hardest anyway.

This eventually put him in the pitfall that nearly everyone fell into, they idolized Arthur. All of the knights in the movie have flaws in their logic due to their idolized views and it's reflected in their words and oath to the Lion King.

Mordred & Agravain are possibly the biggest victims of this mindset but they're a topic for another day. What is unique here is that Bedivere wanted to see Arthur's true smile or see her drop the ideal king act.

This was not for any grand or selfish reasons Bedivere just wished for his king to be happy in a sense. Ironically, he too only ever saw the perfect king and could not let them go.

Even at the end of the movie I wonder if he ever truly understood Arthur. Because when I saw the film, the flashbacks, I didn't just see the tragedy of Bedivere's quilt and choice but I saw what Arthur saw.

Personally, I think that Artoria valued the normalcy of Bedivere. He truly was not blessed by faeries, heaven, or by magical blades. He was a guy that tried his best and he saw things the way a normal person would.

I can't say to what extent of course but I do think she saw true value in what he saw as shortcomings with himself.

Either way, these movies are truly beautiful and what makes them so isn't just the animation or OST but the tragedy that is Bedivere.

Other Knights and Conclusions

As said earlier, Mordred is a topic for another day and I've already talked about Lancelot in my Fate Zero post. In fact, the Lancelot here seems either loyal in spite of what happened to Guinevere or because of it.

Had the other knights not referenced his betrayal I'd have assumed he was summoned lacking those memories.

And I haven't read the 'Garden of Avalon' novel to truly know about the whole round table. Let alone Tristan who is infamous for the line about “The king does not understand the hearts of men.” which is misinterpreted.

Not in the sense that it's mistranslated but in the sense that how people took his words both in-story and out were not his intented feelings.

And I know next to nothing about Gawain in Fate other than he, like many, was a child of Morgan. Much of the chaos in Camelot was either direct or indirect thanks to Morgan's relationship to her children.

Agravain is a fascinating case study due to his nature. He famously hates women despite his king being a woman and it's thanks to his relation to his mother Morgan.

A trait he shares with Mordred oddly enough. Both have a complex relationship to Arthur based solely on how their mother warped them.

You can also see Agravain's dynamic with Lancelot in the movies. There's a disdain there and Lancelot is quick to suspect him despite being a betrayer. This is presumably due to Agravain exposing Lancelot's affair in life.

It is also due to people misreading Agravain's intent. He often appeals to Arthur's kingly or inhuman side and many assumed he was trying to run a shadow kingdom but Agravain was just trying to help his ideal king the best way he knew how.

He, to the disbelief of many, is actually very loyal to the king and country. His actions and feelings are just complex due to his hatred of Morgan and women compounded with his ideal king being a woman herself.

One day if I manage to read the novel I may come back to give Agravain a proper post since he fascinates me.

For now though I think I'll stop and focus on the Mordred post while it's fresh in my mind.

I can't really think of anything else in-depth to add. These movies are amazing, especially if you view it as Bedivere's story more so than an adaption of Fujimaru's.

The animation is godly and the scene of Bedivere returning Arthur's sword and her heart/memories with it is beautiful. The music is beautiful.

The OST for that scene is 'walk by' btw. Go give it a listen, bye now~

2021 In Review (Visual Novel Edition)

Okay!!

So.

I played a LOT of games this year, but for sake of relevance we’re gonna narrow it down to the VN games and demos I tried. I’m not a fan of bashing games I don’t like (with certain exceptions) so don’t expect those titles to make an appearance here.

So, in making this list it got too long for my own liking so I decided to focus on the titles I REALLY love or think are noteworthy and should be on others’ radars...note how the list is still too long F R I C K.

Trouble Comes Twice - there isn’t a day that passes where I WISH I could have supported the Kickstarter. I was drawn to this game because you can play as either twin, and then stayed for the great banter and interactions and art style.

Herotome - the superhero genre is one I’ll never get tired of so to see visual novels out in the wild??? I’ve been on cloud 9 ever since. (Also the dev is a GEM so maybe I’m biased, but let the record show that I fell in love before we became friends and moots so there!!)

An Everyday Love - I’ve talked about this game a lot and love any excuse to reblog content (click here or here or here)

Twin Coves - I actually am not the target demographic for Twin Peaks but the dark atmosphere and the promise of mystery drew me in. And then I played the demo and was SOLD!! And then I did a happy dance because I got so support the kickstarter lol

After-Party Chemistry - !!!!!!! Don’t remember how the algorithm worked in my favor but one day I was looking for a high school game to play (to be inspired on my project and also because we just need more HS/teen stuff and I’m starved ALWAYS). This project is still very much a WIP but I love that it’s chemistry based (I sucked at this subject in school BTWs and this game reminded me while also being such a treat to play)

The Radiants - Along with superhero games, I also have a love for magic. Also school based games....yeah there’s a theme here, thanks for noticing LOL. Another “demo made me fall even more in love with the game”

College Craze - Hey look! Another school theme game!! But it’s mature. No, like super mature, like Smut City with Plot and Character Customization lol. Dev is slowly trucking away at this project and it’s a joy to see it come along even if I’m late to the party.

Dagonrompa: REVIVE - My sprite artist’s WIP so maybe I’m a little biased but that just means it’s totally worth your time to check out the demo!! Also I knew of Danganropa and didn’t plan on seeking it out, but this fangame demo is my first ever interaction and I it was truly a good time.

Band Camp Boyfriend - There’s a handful of demos I’m chomping at the bits to have a full game, and this is one of them! I was never a band geek in HS but was always curious about band kid culture (plus I am a high school content connoisseur *twirls mustache*) so I was destined to fall in love with this one.

The Closet Door - This is another game that has the blood, sweat, and tears of a loving dev, who wants more representation in games, and I’m so happy I stumbled upon this WIP. It’s charming and the art style is SO so so lovely to stare at, and the main character is such a firecracker who doesn’t take shit and can be a little sharp and I ADORE her!! (JMB if you see this, I love you and I think you’re doing amazing, always!!)

Fully Released & Played (at least 1 playthrough)

War on Roses - I actually cannot stand love triangles, but I ALSO can’t stay away from fashion sims...or beautiful Black people in games...and also character customization??? Yeah um, this is one of my top faves whoops.

Magical Diaries Horse Hall - School + Magic YAAAAAAY. Wolf Hall is on my list next, but this series is super fun. It’s stats raising and romance and fun (or off the wall) events sprinkled through game play. This is probably the only series that made me consider just once writing a male protagonist. (Horse Hall, f!MC and Wolf Hall, m!MC by the way)

Our Life: Beginnings & Always - This game makes it on the list by a technicality because I devoured it Nov 2020 buuuut I’ve replayed it so many times this year and it was the simplicity and wholesomeness of this game that inspired me and Hummingbird Games that I had to add it.

Blooming Panic - At the time of this post, there is a full and expanded version available for play and I haven’t done a replay, but I have romanced 3 of the guys and there aren’t enough words to explain why I love this game. If I could buy it I would have done it without hesitation, so for the content to be free really feels like I’ve won the lottery. Also, IRL I’m terrible when it comes to participation in Discord groups, and DMs are not too great--shoutout to everyone I still need to message back ahaha-- but the essence of this game is being on a discord server and it’s so. Much. Fun. (Quest is a gem, but nightowl was my first and by that logic still reigning champion in my heart)

Raptor Boyfriend - First I’d like to apologize for judging this game by it’s cover. SECONDLY I’d like to stress that it shouldn’t have taken a sale for me to put this on my radar but I’m soooooo glad it worked out. It’s very 90s (my fave time period for content consumption and storytelling) all 3 love interests are quirky and loveable in their own ways, the telephone call feature is SO fun, and I just had a really great time with this game.

Chess of Blades - This is not the list for boys love titles, BUT I will eventually make that post too. For now you will accept that this is pretty dang high on the list of faves this year. The voice acting is perfect, the art is exquisite, the love interests and their routes all bring something different to the table, and your choices have consequences!!! I hate that but I love it. Play this game. Cop it on sale if you have too. I love it, that is all.

Fully Released (& still on 1st playthrough)

Women of Xal - Being a baby dev on the scene + being Black with an intense love for VNs meant I was resigned to seeing white (and anime) faces more than anything else, as the MC and as the love interests. And then I saw art for WoX. Alllll the beautiful melaninated people. And then time went by and I fangirled and was rewarded for my efforts for seeing this project to completion (I wasn’t there at the veerrry beginning but it all worked out.) There’s soooo much content and treats and lore and just sheer amount of STUFF that I’ve put in X amount of hours and I still have more to go. And it’s super exciting.

(FINISH) Butterfly Soup (because I’m suffering from ‘I don’t want this to end’ syndrome, but I can’t have all these unfinished games in my life)

so i'll try to go in order here. uhhhh... there's a LOT i have to say. first: toriel giggling sprite my beloved

NOELLE YOU'RE SO GAY. I THINK THIS IS PROBABLY JUST BECAUSE I TOLD HER TO IN CHAPTER ONE BUT SHE GAVE SUSIE THE LUNCHBOX FULL OF CHALK!! I LOVE ITTTT

ralsei's, uh... kinda sus. the whole "recruiting" thing REALLY sketches me out. and he looks kinda... smug, all the time, like he knows what's going on.

LANCER JOINED! ROUXLS JOINED EVEN THOUGH NO ONE WANTED THAT! STARWALKER JOINED, TO EVERYONE'S JOY!

so before i entered the city there was that pre-city area? that looked very much like the city? except it had different music? and i thought they'd cut welcome to the city and i was SEVERELY disappointed. but then they didn't! just something i wanted to mention

throughout this game i went from despising berdly to feeling bad for him to not really liking him again, but not hating him as much as before. he'd better stay the fuck away from susie though

the queen is the best villain. she's the kind you love to hate! she's literally so funny AND her boss battle is actually tough (rip to the king but he just. wasn't a formidable enemy at all lol)

THE GANG CHARLIE BROWN DANCING TO WIN A FIGHT! SUSIE GAINING THE POWER TO ACT THROUGH SHEER FORCE OF WILL! SUSIE FORCING RALSEI TO LEARN TO ACT EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T WANT TO! THAT ENTIRE BATTLE WAS AMAZING! THE "BATTLE WON" END DANCING SEQUENCE! GOING INSANE GOING INSANE

the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙

that being said. the mouse puzzles were SO fucking infuriating. i caused poor noelle a LOT of grief with those and i feel bad.

SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!

also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!

ugh. fucking berdly. so smug and pretentious. i love queen's desire to be as far away from him as possible though

i also like his backstory. it gives his behavior, even if it's still annoying, at least some context. i get the feeling of feeling like if you're not smart, people will forget about you, and that's scary.

ALSO ALSO. GAMER BERDLY. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT IS PERFECT. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GAMER!" "i only play mobile games, berdly." "NOOOOOO!" like i ADORE that

anyways. time for me to talk about the only thing that matters in this world: suselle. i mean, did the gays win in this chapter or DID THE GAYS WIN IN THIS CHAPTER?? THEY RODE A HEART-COVERED FERRIS WHEEL AND HAD A HEARTFELT, TENSION-FILLED CONVERSATION!

"did you ever wonder why the real susie never picked on you? well, maybe it's because... when you were both new to class, you lent her one of your pencils, like... maybe a dumb one with candy canes on it or something, and... even though it didn't actually taste like candy, she... remembered your smile." okay god thanks toby it's not like i needed my heart or anything

also, if darkners outside of their dark worlds turn to stone after a while, why didn't ralsei? that's, uhhh... VERY sus. very weird. mr fox i need ANSWERS

WE FINALLY HAVE A WAY TO SAVE AFTER WE'VE FINISHED MOST OF THE EPILOGUE LADS. REJOICE!!

seriously the thing that peeved me about ch1 was that the last save point was on the battle stage and if i wanted to play the epilogue again, i had to. do that entire battle all over. BUT NOW THAT'S BEEN FIXED!!

onionsan hears a song at night... a familiar song... memory, perhaps? or maybe a certain... four-note arpeggio that's hidden in a sound test room in undertale? who knows? guess we'll just have to wait for chapters 3/4/5.

this concludes my ramblings for now, but don't get it twisted- this is FAR from the last post i'll make about ch2. this whole chapter was absolutely amazing! brilliant! showstopping!! i'm genuinely soooo super impressed and excited for the chapter 3/4/5 bundle!!!

Synopsis: Zemo has agreed to help Sam and Bucky track down the new super soldiers, but there are things about this world that trigger ghosts of the past. *Bittersweet/Fluffy-Angst* Setting: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier S01 E03

"Papa, papa!"

His heart stopped short in his chest as if struck by an unseen force. His head craned quickly to the side in search of the source of the sound. The empty tarmac greeted him. His eyes snapped shut as he tried to focus on the memory forming.

"Zooooom." A little voice circled him. "Zoom!" His small hands clutched a model plane that he extended out away from him, letting it soar through the air. His hair was tousled, and his shirt already unkempt, even though the family had only just arrived at the airport.

"Mein Schatzi." Zemo smiled in adoration. "Come."

When Carl moved closer, his father lifted him up and spun with him in his arms. "Now, it soars higher. And soon, it will touch the sky. Just like you one day. You have a bright future, my son."

The boy wrapped his arms around his father's neck, a curious expression growing on his features as a new thought pulled his focus. "Will there be sweets on the plane?"

Zemo glanced at his wife, then quickly back to his son. "Shh—there may be a few Turkish Delights tucked in a secret spot for us to share." Returning his son to the ground, he pressed his finger to his lips and winked, whispering, "Just don't tell your mother. It must be our secret."

Carl nodded, a grin of delight plastered on his face as he ran off toward the plane, his model airplane still flying beside him. "Hallo, Oeznik!"

"Good morning, Master Carl." The butler gestured him up the stairs. He offered the boy a helping hand as his parents trailed behind.

"Papa says there are sweets," the boy stated with wide, hopeful eyes. "Do you know where they are?"

"Try the bottom compartment by the window nearest your father's seat."

Carl hurried into the plane, followed by his parents.

"You spoil him, Helm." His wife gave his hand a gentle squeeze as he helped her into the plane.

"Only a little." His head dipped to the side and his shoulders pulled forward, pleading his case. "Can you blame me?"

"I'd not have it any other way."

His hands clutched tightly at his sides as the memory faded away, leaving only a feeling of hopeless longing. Even after all of this time, he could still feel her beside him, her hand safely in his.

"So, all this time, you've been rich?" Sam stated more than questioned, interrupting his thoughts.

He breathed deeply, recomposing himself as he tried to let go of the past. "I'm a Baron, Sam. My family was royalty until your friends destroyed my country." He did his best to shrug it off, taking a step forward from them. Weakness was not something he could afford to show.

The trio boarded the plane, heading for the lawless nation of Madripoor. His fingers drifted lightly over the back of the soft leather seat that was once where his wife sat before Sam occupied the space. Bucky mindlessly brushed past him, bumping him slightly.

"Careful, Carl."

His thoughts drifted back as he took his seat and looked out of the window as the plane began its ascent.

"We do not run in the plane."

"Why not, Papa?" The inquisitive child questioned.

Zemo took a seat and pulled his son into the safety of his lap. "Do you still have your little plane?"

The boy nodded, handing it to his father.

"Do you see those dark skies off in the distance there? Storm clouds like that can cause the plane to bump and shake. Like this." He modeled with the toy plane how the aircraft may shift due to turbulence. "You could lose your balance, fall and bump your head or get hurt." His fingers ran softly through the child's lush, blonde hair. "I never want to see you injured. It is my job to protect you and help you make safe choices."

"I'll be careful," Carl agreed. "Promise."

Zemo cradled the back of his son's head and brushed a kiss on the crown of his head. "I love you, my boy."

"I love you too, Papa."

Oeznik's shuffling in the cabin pulled him back again.

"Apologies if that's a little warm..."

The older gentleman reminded him of his past and the family that he lost. Despite knowing all he had done, Oeznik's kindness led him to remember the man he once was. Although, he knew dwelling too long in the past would not help with the mission at hand.

He accepted the warm champagne, silently toasting his two unlikely traveling companions. His attention shifted to the Winter Soldier. If he couldn't stay in his past, he would distract himself with another's.

As the flight continued and the conversation waned, they decided to rest in the quiet hours they had left. Zemo retrieved a pillow from the closet and brought it to his nose. The subtle hint of her washed over him. He wasn't sure if her scent had truly lingered or if the barrage of memories had triggered something more. His body tensed at the recollection; pain burned like fire through his core. There was nothing he could do to bring them back. They were gone, and he was alone.

"Relax, my love." Her voice was a ghosted whisper on the back of his neck. "It'll all work out. When we get there, you will see. It will be alright."

"How can you be so sure, Liebling?"

She pressed a kiss to his shoulder before burying her head there a moment.

He turned into her, searching for answers.

Her encouraging smile warmed his nerves. "They will see what I see: your brilliant mind, your kind heart, and your love for your country. The council will approve your request to help the people."

His finger curled tenderly under her chin, lifting her delicate features. "Where would I be without you?"

"Luckily, you'll never need to find out." She leaned forward, closing the gap, covering his lips with her own.

His arms circled her waist, drawing her nearer. Their movements were slow and steady, warmth building between them as a calmness washed over him.

His gloved fist slammed forward, hovering just above the wall. His pulse quickened, and blood boiled. He pounded the air with great restraint, stopping before making a sound as he did not wish to draw attention to himself.

The vision of their bodies huddled together in the rubble was an image that had haunted him every single day. That he could handle; it fueled his vengeance, his anger, his frustrations. That memory allowed him to close himself off and harden his heart. It allowed him to focus his mind on problems he could solve, like the Avengers and ending the super-soldier program once and for all.

These memories—his innocence, her beauty, and grace— cut deeper than any wound ever could. The only treasure that had ever truly mattered to him had heedlessly been taken. His head hung a little lower as he wondered what they would think of him now. Would it still "work out" and be "alright" when so little of himself was left to give?

He returned to his seat, resting his head on the pillow, the many memories made on that plane spirling in his mind. His fingers slipped in his jacket pocket, pulling out an old photo of the three of them. He had been too late to save them, but there were other children like his son out there. He wouldn't delude himself into being a hero, but even if he could save one child in his son's name that would be a start. He tucked it back away, keeping it close to his heart.

Love and grief. He thought to himself as his eyes drifted closed. The two things in life that change you beyond repair; and, he had suffered both.

Gather round folks, it’s time to talk about Shovel Knight characters’ canon heights!

First things first, let’s talk about our friend Reize Seatlan.

His creator, Seizui, has been building canon around this character for years, and this link tells us that Reize’s canon height is 160 cm (5'3").

Let’s take a look at this boy’s sprite: (complete with blue Photoshop rulers in case you want to see where I measured from)

*caveat: Reize’s hair is extremely fluffy. It runs in the family, so I counted his height as being shorter than the height of his hair. It makes sense and it makes the math easier

Counting the pixels in Reize’s sprite, we can see that he is 32 pixels tall. So when we divide 160 cm by 32 pixels, we discover that each pixel in the Shovel Knight universe is 5 centimeters in real life.

So, what does this mean for the rest of the Shovel Knight cast?

Great question: I’ve got the rest of the math (with screenshot proof) under the cut:

Alright, in no particular order, let’s talk about Plague Knight next.

--Worth noting that I’m using playable/Showdown sprites as opposed to boss sprites when possible. This helps keep characters proportional to each other

--Plague Knight is 31 pixels tall = 155 cm tall = 5 foot 1. Tiny plague knight, but as we’ll see later, not the tiniest member of the cast

Tiniest member of the cast, you say? Could you mean... Tinker Knight?

--Tinker Knight slouches in almost all of his sprites, so I tried to find a sprite of him NOT slouching. That extra pixel makes a difference for this tiny character lol

--27 pixels tall = 135 cm tall = 4 foot 5. tiny tinker. But still not the tiniest member of the cast, believe it or not!

Shovel Knight:

--fairly straightforward. i did wonder if his victory pose was any taller than his regular pose, but it's not

24 pixels tall = 120 cm = 3 foot 11. tiny. tiny shovel. the average 9 year old child is between 120-145 centimeters. So not only is Shovel the size of a 9 year old, but he might actually be the shortest in the class...

Black Knight:

--there are interesting things i could say about the bird feather situation but eh. imma go with eh. bird feathers do not count as height, final answer --other than that, pretty easy here

24 pixels tall = 120 cm = 3 foot 11. same size as shovel, aka also the size of a 9 year old. adorable

Propeller Knight:

--slouches REALLY BAD. ALL THE TIME. --his least slouch-y sprite is his tuxedo sprite from the end of Plague of Shadows, so I used that initially... only to realize that he's the exact same height in his other sprites as well. How about that! Maybe he has some kind of a battery pack for his propeller hat in the back of his shirt. It would explain his terrible posture.

--39 pixels tall = 195 cm tall = 6 foot 4. Tall, but not unreasonable.

Mole Knight:

--has some fascinating squash and stretch in his sprite sheet --fabulous from an animation standpoint. difficult from a math standpoint --i refuse to count his fire-hair as height lol

Squash sprite: 32 pixels tall = 160 cm = 5 foot 2 Normal: 36 pixels tall = 180 cm = 5 foot 10 Stretch sprite: 46 pixels tall = 230 cm = 7 foot 6 (!!!)

I have no explanation for this other than artistic liberties lol

Specter Knight:

--i'm so glad player sprites exist lol. Specter's boss fight sprites are just piles of cloth with him slouching underneath. I will gleefully ignore them for this exercise --that said, even with player sprites, specter knight is HUNCHED OVER ALMOST ALL THE TIME. AUGH. --fortunately, cold shoulder sprites exist, and a few other action-y type poses. they’re pretty consistent with each other (within a pixel or so) --how much of Specter's hood is fluffy cloth vs actual height? good question. I compared to one of Donovan's sprites to give us a good estimate, give or take 1 pixel or so

37 pixels tall = 185 cm = 6 foot 0. Pretty average here.

Treasure Knight:

--also slouches in a lot of his sprites, but at least has a few non-slouchy sprites for us to examine. I chose the taller of the two for consistency (difference of 50 vs 51 pixels)

Treasure Height: 51 pixels = 255 cm = 8 foot 4 (!!!?!) This man is huge!

King Knight:

--his normal standing sprite met my requirements, so I used that --I included his boss sprite without the crown for comparison, because a crown does not actually make one taller lol (sorry not sorry, king) --this also shows the importance of using player sprites vs boss sprites. the difference between the two is pretty obvious here

Polar Knight:

--hunched over. like, all the time. --there aren't really any sprites of him not hunched over, but the least hunched over is him doing his shovel up attack, so I'll use that, and his normal sprite for comparison

Normal sprite: 47 pixels tall = 235 cm = 7 foot 8 (!!!) Tall sprite: 58 pixels tall = 290 cm = 9 foot 6 (!!!?!?!?!) tl;dr polar knight is a beast of a man and we all knew that already hahaha. the tallest man on record in medical history was 8 ft 11. This is absolutely bonkers

Shield Knight:

--while she does have hunched over sprites, i simply avoided them lol. --how tall is her head inside her helmet? great question! the world may never know. Since our only reference for this is concept art (which does little more than tells us her head is shaped like a human’s and not, say, a squid’s), I kinda winged the exact pixel count. --also worth noting is that she grows a few inches when she sticks her leg out lol

Normal sprite: 35 pixels = 175 cm = 5 foot 8 (tall but normal height for an adult woman) Tall sprite: 40 pixels = 200 cm = 6 foot 6 (!!!!) (hOLY MAMA beautiful big buff lady)

And just for fun, I added a few other important characters from the main stories:

Mona:

--we know she is a tall lady, but exactly how tall? --all of her sprites seem pretty consistent in height, which makes my job easy!

48 pixels tall = 240 cm = 7 foot 10. (???????!!!?) She is the size of Shovel Knight and Black Knight stacked on top of each other. Amazing. I have nothing but awe and admiration for this incredibly tall lady

Luan:

--He has a bunch of funky tumbling/hunched over sprites and very fluffy hair. like father, like son. I did my best to pick the most reasonable sprites of the bunch --after that, I decided two pixels of hair is enough. voluminous hair is impressive but is not height --similar to Shield Knight, he grows a few inches when he sticks his leg out lol

Normal Sprite: 39 pixels = 195 cm = 6 foot 4 Tall Sprite: 43 pixels = 215 cm = 7 foot 0 (!!) All the better for reaching those hard-to-reach platforms in the Tower of Fate, I guess?

King Knight’s Mom:

--last but not least, the best character in king of cards (you know it's true lol) --she also has somewhat fluffy hair. i'm not counting her bun as height.

41 pixels = 205 cm = 6 foot 8 (!!!). It's not Mona tall, but it's still very tall. Tallness may run in the family, but King Knight seeems to have missed out on all of those genes hahaha.

My thoughts and feelings on the Danganronpa S Swimsuit Designs.

Recently the designs for everyone’s swimsuit sprites in Danganronpa S were leaked on a preorder website here: https://ebten.jp/spchun/p/7015021110403

There’s a lot I have to say about each of these designs, so I figured I’d make a decently long post ranking each of them.

These are all my opinions and my thoughts and feelings may be a little biased, but please hear me out and respect my opinions. Also, sorry for low quality images, since that was the most clear cut I could make them by zooming in on the sheets.

7/10:

It’s a fairly plain design, but honestly, I think that’s quite befitting of the first games plucky protagonist. One of Makoto’s main traits is that he’s nothing remotely that special, so his swimsuit shouldn’t really be anything major. I do like however, that it’s colours replicate the brighter aspects of his original design.

6/10:

Of all the characters in the game who could have been stuck with the speedo look, I’m glad it was Taka. Unfortunately, this also means that his design, other than the very befitting whistle around his neck, isn’t anything major.

8/10:

This is a really good look for Byakuya. It’s really fitting with his personality and status and he wears it well.

5/10:

Unfortunately, Mondo’s outfit is exactly what I expected it to be. It’s unfortunate because I was hoping the game would do more, given how extra his 10th anniversary do was, but I was left a little disappointed with this one. It’s not bad though and it does work with him.

6/10:

It’s a pretty plain and simple design with no real outstanding aspects, but it really fits Leon’s character and he does well with it.

7/10:

This is honestly hilarious, because this wasn’t what I expected from Hifumi. I was expecting him to have a shirt or something, but I’m glad he doesn’t because that can be considered fat-shaming in my eyes. The Pretty Pudgy Princess image on his shorts was, for whatever reason, NOT what I was expecting though, and I think it looks great.

8/10:

I’ve had my differences with Hiro, but I have to admit that this design really does suit him and his character. I really love the little alien pattern on his shorts.

10/10:

This has got to be my favourite design in the entire selection of these characters! The main reason is because it really suits Chihiro’s character. He’s sporting both some very boy-like shorts but also a very girl-like crop top. The design doesn’t prioritize masculinity or femininity, but instead creates a well done balance of the two. This was probably the best that they could have done for Chihiro and I’m so glad he got his justice in this game.

10/10:

I feel like Sayaka is so underappreciated and so berated that we fail to recognize just how beautiful she is. I mean LOOK at this! She’s so fucking gorgeous!

10/10:

Kyoko is among, if not the top of, the characters in this that can sport a really plain and slightly bare bones design, but look absolutely beautiful while doing it. The dark swimsuit clashing with her bright hair, and also not sporting anything too outstanding, just like her original design, makes her look absolutely ravishing.

I know it seems like I’m just dishing out 10’s at this point, but the DR1 girls are just THAT amazing looking with their designs, and Hina in particular is really good. One of the things that I love about some of these swimsuit designs is the subversion of the colors that I’m used to the characters sporting. Hina for instance is usually associated with red or blue, but here she is wearing a deep yellow bikini and my god does she look amazing in it. Also, it’s hard to see, but she does have some slight abs, which is something I wish to see on most of these girls.

9/10:

We have to talk about these two at once because they kind of have the same swimsuit with just one difference, in that Toko wears the skirt, while Genocide Jill does not. This makes sense and it’s pretty clever in design, since Toko has usually always worn long dresses/skirts in her previous designs, to cover up the tally marks Jill engraved in her legs from her kills. Jill obviously wouldn’t care about that, so she feels no need to wear the skirt, and given that Jill is slightly more outgoing and sociable than Toko, she wouldn’t have as much of a problem showing off more skin. It really does make a lot of sense and the design itself is overall very solid.

6/10:

I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is bad, but this style and colour is not what I expected or would have liked to see on Sakura. She’s still pretty, but I just think there’s more potential here.

8/10:

In a sense, this is a very clever design of swimsuit, since it’s almost as if Celeste’s original dress was turned into a bikini, and it’s incredibly fitting as a result. Still, it’s not out of any expectation.

10/10:

This is probably the most ingenious design out of every swimsuit in this game, so hear me out. One of the things Junko is the most well known for in Danganronpa’s world is she always defies expectations, most of the time in ways that leave people dissatisfied or unhappy. What could be more dissatisfying to a regular hormonal teenager (which most of the DR cast are) on a summer trip than a busty beauty arriving to the beach wearing a cheap, one-piece school swimsuit with nothing remarkable about it. It’s so clever and such a smart move on the designers part that perfectly encapsulates Junko’s character.

9/10:

I love this swimsuit design, and I think Mukuro looks wonderful in it, but I still stand by my complaint that she deserves to be her own person in this game and not disguised as Junko.

5/10:

Monokuma looks less like a lifeguard in this design and more like a McDonald’s drive thru employee. Still, I didn’t expect Monokuma to get a swimsuit at all, and this does fit his character, so whatever.

9/10:

Like Makoto, this outfit is fairly simple. Unlike Makoto however, it doesn’t really replicate the coloration of the original design and instead provides Hajime with something more vibrant and original, and I think it looks pretty good on him.

10/10:

I just in general think this is a really solid look for Nagito. It’s a nice diversion from his original style, while also keeping some of the things that made his original design unique, namely the pattern on his hoodie is transitioned over, but in a new, quite dashing colour. I also like how he and Hajime have a contrasting blue/red dynamic with their designs.

7/10:

I mean, it obviously has to be the same as Byakuya’s design, but the colours of the hoodie are inverted. It makes sense, but I do believe the original Togami does it better in this case.

4/10:

Is this REALLY the best you could give Gundham? This is such a simple design for someone with Gundham’s personality, he deserves something far more impressive. Yeah, I get that Makoto has the same thing, shorts of a single colour with his symbol on it, but that makes sense for Makoto given that he’s naturally quite bare bones, whereas Gundham is much the opposite. Honestly, this is kind of a letdown.

8/10:

Can Kazuichi just naturally pull off any vibrant colour? First, in DR2, his outfit was a vibrant yellow, and then in DR3, he had a deep blue outfit. Now he’s sporting this Neon Green and it looks so good on him. Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks that this is a really good way of transitioning his original design while also adding some originality?

7/10:

I don’t think it’s anything great, but I like the rose patterns and the clash of the dark shirt with the bright shorts. Honestly, this is a pretty good outfit sporting Teruteru’s moniker.

6/10:

Again, I kind of expected Nekomaru to wear the speedo, and I like the fact that he kept the chain on, but overall, the outfit doesn’t have an awful lot of uniqueness.

8/10:

There’s really not an awful lot to this design, but I think white shorts and a gold chain are a real good look for Fuyuhiko. He doesn’t really need anything more than this to look super good on the beach.

7/10:

We did see this outfit in DR2, but it was a CG and not a sprite, and at least she’s not covered in blood this time. The colours and patterns are a little plain for Akane, but she still looks pretty good in this outfit.

10/10:

This swimsuit already has a CG and sprites in the original DR2, but now we get to see more of them. And just as well because this plain white swimming outfit looks wonderful on Chiaki. She’s just super adorable like this and I can’t ask for anything more.

10/10:

I have to give Sonia the score she deserves here. While I am surprised she isn’t showing off nearly as much leg skin as I thought she would, I have no complaints to this. The colour is a good colour alongside her hair and the swimsuit itself looks splendid on her.

9/10:

I never thought in a million years that Hiyoko would look good in green, but I’ve never been more happy to be wrong. I’m also glad, and I can’t speak for everyone here, that she’s wearing a two-piece and not a school swimsuit like Junko, because she deserves more than that.

10/10:

I’m so tempted to sing the Bryan Highland song but change the yellow in the lyrics to blue. Words cannot describe just how much I love this simple patterns design on my all time best girl. Mahiru looks absolutely angelic with this outfit, and I’ve basically fallen for her all over again.

8/10:

All things considered, I’m really satisfied with this outfit. We all know what Spike Chunsoft and DR’s writers like to do to Mikan, so I was very concerned that whatever swimsuit she got, it was going to turn out to be really skimpy and barely cover anything. I am glad that this is a lot more modest than I thought it would be, and I thank the creators for giving her something more normal. However, it is still a string piece that has a likely chance of coming undone, so I am expecting a few wardrobe malfunctions in the game. Other than that, my only other real complaint is that I kind of want more than just a plain white design. I think a deep purple or even a deep red would work very well on her as opposed to this.

10/10:

This is the design I expected for Ibuki, and it works really well for her, so while my expectations weren’t defied, this is still among the better designs out of the selection we have.

10/10:

We all need to take a minute to appreciate just how gorgeous Peko looks in a plain black two-piece, because this lady looks absolutely exquisite. Even the most simple designs can bring out the best in characters, and while we did see this in DR2, we never got the sprite we needed. She just looks great like this, that’s all I can say.

5/10:

Izuru has a different swimsuit to Hajime for some reason, but I guess it does make sense since a bright, vibrant swimsuit like the one Hajime has wouldn’t work with him. Hajime’s is still better in my book though.

Usami and Monomi have always had the adult/child dynamic in their designs. For example, in the regular designs, Usami has a skirt while Monomi wears a diaper, and that dynamic carries over in these designs too, which I really appreciate. Still, the outfits themselves aren’t anything outstanding.

10/10:

Is it just me, or is Komaru ever so slightly chubby in this? It’s the first time Komaru’s midriff has ever been shown in a sprite, so it’s the first time we’ve ever seen her bare belly like this. It’s not a complaint, if anything, I’ve been wanting to see some chub on the girls. Regardless, this is another example of a plain design pulled off extraordinarily well, since the plain yellow outfit makes Komaru look delightful.

6/10:

About what I expected from Masaru. Like Nagito, I like how he carries patterns from his og design into this one, but he doesn’t really do it as well. His design is kind of basic.

8/10:

I like this transition. The outfit and hoodie has originality, but it still bases itself off Jataro’s original design and I like how they do it.

10/10:

She’s just way too cute! This design is just super adorable and Kotoko pulls it off wonderfully. She was honestly one who I expected to wear a one-piece, so showing off this much skin is surprising given her backstory. It really does fit her though, and I wouldn’t think of changing it.

5/10:

Honestly, there’s not much to this. The colour and pattern fits Nagisa, totally, but I do wish there was a little bit more than just whatever this is. Nagisa’s a much deeper character than this outfit gives him credit for.

8/10:

It’s a really simple design with nothing outstanding besides the skirt, but Monaca looks really cute wearing this, and I think that that alone is enough. Besides, Junko had a fairly basic design too, so Monaca having one isn’t out of the question.

3/10:

I’ve always believed, as much as I really don’t like him and wish he wasn’t in this game, that Kurokuma has always had one of the best designs out of all the Monokuma’s. But as much as I believe that, and as much as I love the addition of the water gun in this design, this is honestly kind of lazy. The gun and the glasses don’t count as part of the swimsuit, they’re just accessories. In summary, literally all they did was give him orange trunks.

1/10:

THIS however is somehow even worse, because this straight up is NOT a swimsuit! Shirokuma is literally just wearing a hat and a floatie. This is probably my least favourite of all the designs in this.

9/10:

I have to add here that I’m rather disappointed that based on the scans, it seems unlikely that Yuta and Taichi from UDG are getting in the game, since I believe they both deserve some spotlight that they’re now giving Hiroko. I also don’t consider myself to be attracting to older women, but I am forced to admit that like with Mikan, I did expect something worse with Hiroko’s swimsuit, and this was a pleasant subversion of my expectations because I think she looks great.

10/10:

Maybe I’m being a but biased with my scoring here, but had Shuichi not been wearing the hoodie, I would have been a bit disappointed. Also, am I the only one who thinks that this is a surprisingly good look for Shuichi given that the colours aren’t his typical dark, emo style? I never thought Shuichi could rock a white hoodie and dark blue shorts, but here I am being proved wrong.

6/10:

Honestly, I did expect this of Kaito’s outfit, and I am a little let down that this is it really. Sure, it does look good, as he has the space pattern that he usually has on the inside of his coat, but speaking of his coat, one thing that I was expecting was that he, like Shuichi or Nagito, would have a hoodie in his design that he hung loosely around his shoulders like he does in his original design. C’est la vie…

7/10:

He literally looks like a tiny sailor! Like they straight up ripped him out of a Popeye cartoon or something! It looks really funny for some reason.

9/10:

Call me crazy, but I actually seriously love the colour of Rantaro’s shorts. The pink/red rose colour is a wonderful clash with his avocado green hair, and while the design is kind of simple, Rantaro has never been known to have the most over the top appearance. He’s kind of just a casual guy, so he deserves a casual attire.

4/10:

Oh Gonta, there’s nothing wrong with your swimsuit, but is this really the most justice they could do you? It looks so…I dunno…plain?

5/10:

Where’s his white coat go? Like, I love the shorts pattern, but is this really it? This is all we get out our clown prince of lies? It’s not totally disappointing like Gundham’s was, and thank god he doesn’t have abs anymore, but even still, is this the best they could do for Kokichi?

10/10:

Fuck yes! Why put Kiyo in shorts like the rest of them when we could give him this extremely fitting wetsuit! Like, seriously, how come I didn’t think this was a good idea? This is quite literally the perfect direction you could have gone in for Kiyo especially.

Fucking…Keebo oh my god…Why did I expect any differently?

Kirumi, Kyoko and Peko have exactly the same reason for getting their scores, and Peko and Kyoko only slightly pull it off better. My only complaint I have with Kirumi sporting this is that she doesn’t appear to have the spider pattern that she had on her dress before, which was one of her most notable features in her original design. Maybe it is there and I just can’t see it due to low res, but I’m fairly sure that this is all you need to make Kirumi look damn sexy during summertime.

6/10:

I know for a fact that Himiko doesn’t like the ocean, so maybe there’s a reason her swimwear looks like this. I don’t hate it, but I think Himiko might look better in a one piece, and maybe I’d like a bit more context as to why it looks like this of all things.

10/10:

Maki is so attractive in this outfit. It’s the perfect shade of red, and it’s everything she deserves. Honestly, while a lot of these girls look stunning in colours that I’m not used to seeing them in, had Maki had anything else than this red, I think I would have been a little disappointed.

7/10:

Pink was not what I expected on Tenko. I was honestly expecting something similar to Ibuki, but with light blue and green instea of blue and pink, and I’m honestly a little upset we didn’t get that. On top of that, she’s showing an awful lot of skin, maybe even more than Mikan, since that swimsuit looks like it doesn’t fit her, which I didn’t expect from her. Still, you won’t be hearing any major issues on my behalf, since I still like this design somewhat.

10/10:

Yes, yes, and more YES! I ADORE the yellow swimsuit with Tsumugi’s dark blue hair. I was expecting something plain and white like what Mikan got with Tsumugi, and I’m so glad we didn’t. Not even Team DR are willing to take their jokes that far. She looks so god damn sublime.

6/10:

I’m fairly sure that all they did for Angie’s appearance was take off her coat. I mean, she does kind of wear swimwear all the time, so I think that even though there’s no real uniqueness or originality to this one, it was the obvious direction to go in, so I have no real comment on it.

9/10:

Ok, this was a good one. I was really hoping that Miu in particular would fit her character to a tee, and if it didn’t I think I would have been rather let down. This is definitely satisfactory though, since leopard print absolutely works for her. Overall I think she looks superb.

10/10:

KAEDE PLEASE MARRY ME! She looks so fucking pulchritudinous! That’s not a word anyone knows, but that’s the extent of how enticing, foxy and sublime she looks! The sky blue is SO good on her, words can barely describe it! Kaede was one in particular who I set high expectations for, and I can gladly say that they were exceeded above and beyond!

Y/N looked at herself in the mirror for what felt like the fiftieth time. She kept changing her outfit and messing with the hair she’d spent hours on out of pure anxiousness. She didn’t know what she was so nervous about. Sure, she hadn’t been on a date with a guy in a while, but she never felt as nervous as she did for this one. Then again, her date was going to be with Jungkook.

Jeon Jungkook. The boy she’d caught feelings for that worked in the coffee shop down the street from her apartment. At first, she thought he was adorable considering he was only two years older than her. She also thought she saw him around school a couple of times on her way to class. He seemed like the quiet type, but once he warmed up to her, he found the courage to not only become a friend of hers but to ask her to get dinner with him later tonight.

“Girl, don’t stress. You look, gorgeous babe,” That was Serena’s voice over the FaceTime call. Y/N knew that Serena genuinely meant what she was saying, but she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of doubt and think Serena was just saying it because they were close friends.

The sound of her apartment door snapped her out of her nervous haze and all she could do was freeze. After Serena coaxed her into opening the door, she wished her best friend good luck and hung up the call. Y/N looked down at her outfit once more before opening the door. God, she must’ve looked like an idiot. Did she open the door too fast? Did she seem desperate already and she hasn’t even spoken to him?

“W-Wow, you look beautiful,” Jungkook’s soft voice spoke up, the rustle of a bouquet shifting her gaze to his outstretched hands in front of her.

“Oh Jungkook, they’re beautiful, thank you so much. You didn’t have to get these,” Y/N silently cursed at herself for speaking too fast, but seemed relieved that Jungkook hadn’t called her out for it. Most likely out of politeness.

“The flower shop was on the way here, so I thought I’d get you some,” That was a lie. The flower shop was a solid block and a half away from her apartment in the opposite direction from which he came, but he didn’t mind keeping that a secret from her.

After a bit of small talk, Jungkook grabbed Y/N’s hand and lightly squeezed it. His mind went foggy at the simple contact their hands were making and he found himself smiling dopily, chuckling airily when Y/N started to swing their intertwined fingers.

Once they made it to his car, he opened her door for her and quickly shut it, jogging over to his side to take them to the restaurant he’d made reservations at. Y/N smiled and twiddled with her thumbs in her lap, struggling to find the confidence to look at Jungkook without wanting to scream. She didn’t want to mess anything up with him. According to her ex, she’d done enough of that even after they got together, so she was going to make sure she’d get it right.

“You feeling okay?” Jungkook interrupted her thoughts. Then again, when didn’t he? “If you feel sick or anything we can reschedule Y/N, you won’t hurt my feelings.”

The girl giggled and let out a shaky sigh. “No, I feel fine. I’m just nervous, I guess.”

Jungkook couldn’t help but smile. She was nervous to go on a date with him? She obviously couldn’t see how much he was shaking when he handed her the flowers. He must’ve been pretty good at hiding his nerves.

“It’s okay to be nervous, don’t feel like it’s wrong to feel weird about this whole thing,” Jungkook began. “You don’t even wanna know how scared I was to ask you out. I honestly thought you were going to tell me no.”

Y/N giggled. His heart fluttered at the sound and he made it his sole duty then and there to make sure she kept smiling and laughing all night. Laughing always made his nerves unwind, so maybe it could help with hers as well.

“Thanks, Jungkook,” She smiled. “I’m glad we’re doing this, I’m excited to get to know you better,”

That was all the reassurance Jungkook needed. Before she could say anything else, he pulled out of his parking spot and started heading over to the restaurant. It wasn’t one of those high-end classy restaurants, but he also wanted to make sure it wasn’t the McDonald’s down the street. He’d been very careful in finding a place that had a very broad menu so she could find something that she liked without having to force herself to eat something she didn’t really want. He’d asked Yoongi to help him prepare the second she told him yes.

“So, do you like working at the coffee shop?” Y/N queried, her eyes watching the bright lights of the city drive past in fast blurs of color.

“Yeah, it’s helping me pay for my dorm’s rent and everything, plus all my coworkers are really nice,” Jungkook rambled. “Plus, I got to serve you every time you walked in, so I can’t help but love that place,”

Y/N smiled and shook her head, making a comment about how cheesy that was. He giggled and tried to defend his point by saying that he was being completely honest, but she couldn’t help but giggle louder. The conversation carried on until they got to the restaurant. Before they knew it, they were getting out of the car and walking into the establishment hand-in-hand.

After they were led to their table by the hostess, Jungkook pulled Y/N’s chair out for her and pushed her in, his eyes settling on the soft flesh of her flushed cheeks at the action. He then sat down and got settled before looking up at her. She still looked a bit shifty, so he decided to make a funny face to break the thick layer of ice in between them. Once she laughed, he knew that he would be able to talk to her.

“Okay, so I want to know everything about you,” Jungkook stated boldly. “If you feel uncomfortable with anything I ask you, just let me know and I’ll ask something else, okay?”

Y/N nodded and felt herself relax. He was so reassuring and it’s almost like he knew how nervous she was. She gave a silken smile and leaned back in her chair a bit.

“Ask away,”

They’d already gotten through their appetizer and entree’s, debating on whether they should order dessert before they paid the bill. Jungkook had found out so much about Y/N as did she about him. From the time she got perfect attendance in first grade to what major she was in, Jungkook had found himself drowning in so much adoration for the girl in front of him.

“Wait, so Tae, Jimin, Namjoon, Yoongi, Jin, and Hobi are all living with you?” Y/N inquired genuinely, watching Jungkook nod and sip on his sprite. “That’s crazy! Are you all close?”

“We’re like brothers. Not even because we’re living together, but because we always help each other with everything and it’s literally like we’re all related to each other. We do everything for each other and whenever one of us is in trouble, we always manage to get them out of it,”

Y/N felt her heart sigh adoringly at his statement. He genuinely cared about his friends and something about him being so caring made her want to ask him to be her boyfriend right then and there. She was having such an amazing time with him and talking to him felt like second nature. She couldn’t remember the last time a boy made her feel this comfortable and safe.

“Did you ask them for tips on where we should go tonight?” she chuckled, watching the crinkles form next to his eyes when he smiled.

“God,” he scoffed. “I asked them if I was insane for wanting to ask you out,”

Y/N furrowed her eyebrows with a grin. “Why would you be insane?”

“Because you’re so out of my league, I didn’t think you’d even think of me as anyone more than the guy that makes your coffee before class every morning,”

She looked down at his hand and hesitantly grabbed it in hers, rubbing her thumb along his knuckles sweetly before meeting his gaze.

“I’m not out of your league Jungkook,” She began. “If anything, I’m out of yours,”

Jungkook knew that was a flat-out lie, but he wasn’t sure if she knew it was. Either way, he shook his head with a chuckle and thanked her for the compliment. Just when he was about to ask her another question, their waiter came back around to ask them if they wanted dessert. Jungkook sent a look to Y/N as if to ask her if she wanted to eat anything else and she simply shrugged her shoulders.

“We’d like the check please,”

The waiter walked off to fetch their bill and Y/N held her full stomach, laughing when Jungkook did the same and slapped his stomach. They both giggled and kept their conversation from earlier going, wanting to pass the time until their bill came back.

Jungkook paid for everything despite Y/N’s protests. He helped her down from her chair and made sure they weren’t leaving anything that belonged to them at the table before placing his hand on her lower back and ushering her out of the restaurant. They got back into his car and Y/N couldn’t help but smile like an idiot the second he started the engine.

“Before I take you home, did you maybe wanna go get some ice cream? I know this really good place not too far from your apartment,”

“That sounds good! I love ice cream,”

Jungkook nodded with a smile and turned onto a different road from the one to her house. They found themselves parked in front of a really small ice cream shop and walked inside. It was a tiny place, yes, but the flavors were stretched out along the right wall, and Y/N couldn’t help but rush up to the glass like an elementary school girl, trying to see which flavor she wanted most and what toppings she wanted to put on it.

“Jungkook! You’re not going to introduce me to your date?” A voice piped up from behind the counter, slightly startling Y/N.

Jungkook grabbed her hand and smiled, ushering her over to the cash register where she was met with none other than Kim Taehyung. She smiled at the boy and gripped Jungkook’s hand a bit tighter, watching the two of them interact but not really paying attention to what they were saying.

“Hyung, this is Y/N, Y/N this is Tae,” she shook hands with Taehyung and felt a small smile spread across her features when he complimented her.

“So, what flavor do you guys want?”

The two of them waved goodbye to Taehyung before leaving the store with their ice cream in their hands. They both got a cone and Jungkook put every single possible topping on top of his while Y/N settled for oreo crumbs and cookie dough bites.

Now, the two of them were walking up to Y/N’s apartment and she felt downhearted that her date was going to be coming to an end soon. They stopped in front of her door and looked at each other, giggling as she pulled out her keys.

“Oh no,” Y/N frowned. Jungkook tossed her a worrisome look, asking her what was wrong. “We didn’t finish our ice cream yet!”

Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows, clearly not following where she was going with her comment. “Looks like you’ll just have to come inside and finish it before you go!”

The boy in front of her smiled and rolled his eyes, nodding his head as she unlocked her door and allowed him to step inside. She turned on the light in her kitchen and walked over to one of the chairs at her table, watching him take the seat next to her. She looked up at him with hearts in her eyes as she continued to finish her ice cream.

“You have ice cream on your nose, dork,” Jungkook chuckled as he grabbed a napkin to dab at her nose.

Y/N looked down at her ice cream and giggled, pressing the treat up to his nose and letting out a light laugh. She grabbed the napkin he used on her and struggled to contain her giggles.

“Oh no, you have ice cream on your nose,”

They continued to tease each other like this until they finished their cones. Sadly, Y/N found herself walking Jungkook out of her apartment so he could go home. They stopped outside her front door and looked at each other, hoping to give each other the rundown of how they thought the date went and decide if they wanted to go on another one.

“I had an amazing time with you tonight Y/N” Jungkook smiled, looking down at her. “I really want to do this again with you, if you don’t mind,”

Y/N smiled and bit her lip to contain the girlish squeal that wanted to come out of her so bad. “I would love to do this again, actually, as soon as possible,”

They both giggled and went silent, looking into each other’s eyes for what felt like an eternity, enjoying the comfortable silence that fell between them.

“I should probably get back home now, but I’ll text you as soon as I get home so we can talk about going out again. Sound good?”

Y/N nodded and looked down at both of their hands getting warmed up. She felt a bit of heat burning the roses of her cheeks and she tried to get rid of it before she met his eyes again.

The second their eyes locked, Jungkook stooped down to her height and pressed his lips against her own. They felt soft against her skin, molding with hers like the last piece of a puzzle. A wave of warmth crashed over both of their bodies as Y/N’s hands traveled to the back of his neck while Jungkook’s hands placed themselves firmly at her hips, gripping them tightly as he brought her against his chest.

It felt like the way it was described in the movies. Y/N felt her legs buckle, her eyes fluttered shut, she felt like the world wasn’t such a scary place as long as she was in his arms. He felt the exact same way. He couldn’t help but yearn for the feeling of her lips to remain on his at every hour of the day. It may have been their first, but damn was he sure it wouldn’t be their last.

They pulled away for air and looked at each other with flushed faces and ragged breaths. They giggled and pressed another light kiss to each other’s lips once more before Jungkook looked down at his phone. He really had to leave now, as much as he didn’t want to.

“I’ll text you when I get back to my dorm, okay?” she nodded. “Goodnight Y/N,”

“Goodnight Jungkook,”
