Have you seen some of the particular harsher criticism directed towards the Owl House? I need to ask if you've seen particular blogs which dish out especially searing criticism of TOH's plot, showing how it undermines itself as time goes on? (I can't delve into specifics here, given the asks' limited space, but MDH, TOH takes, Let Us Cultivate, and a few others are examples of those that point out some seriously criticism of the show, more criticism than I've seen usually. What's your take?)

Thank you for taking the time to message us!

Regarding these blogs, I am familiar with them, as well as with similar blogs and channels. But in all honesty, this style of critique, while valuable and entertaining, is not where our passions lie.

When it comes to the IdleScree philosophy of media analysis, we’ve made the choice to analyze and discuss the things that make us happy or excited, to share things that we feel were well executed. We want to demonstrate that critical thinking can be applied to something, and the conclusion can be that yes, it’s actually good--and here's why. This kind of analysis is where our passion and energy comes from.

These blogs have some genuinely well reasoned, rational points that come to credible conclusions. While I won't dispute those points, much of their argument boils down to "this show did not prioritize or highlight the things I found critical to these topics" and I simply don't agree with that. I felt like most of these topics were handled well enough to communicate the emotional core of what was intended (even if they weren't the focus I would have prioritized).

Are there critiques to be made of The Owl House? Of course! We could very easily focus on things that went wrong- there are plenty of elements in the show that each of us at IdleScree were disappointed by, that we wanted more of, that we wanted to have a deeper examination of. That being said, the conversation around where The Owl House- or any work- failed, is probably better had by the people who are energized by it.
