lurid
You know, in films, when a Twist-jane lounges
by a flophouse window, in crepe mousseline
drawers, that she must be glum; crooning, “Diva's
Cathouse,” and, “Heartbreak Hotel,” and, “Virgin
Funk.” It's always ten past midnight; next door
your love-worn gunsel answers on his horn …
keeping it low. The sad are always poor
in films. We slouch since love makes us forlorn
and lean and use words like, “hooch,” and, “barfly,”
and, “skint.” Twist-jane, you say? What lurid slang.
Lurid? No, tragic. Like ten past doomsday,
crooning, “I'll be so lonely,/ I could die;”
like in films where your gunsel blows hard pang
and grief and the only colors are gray.
][][
Notes:
In the noir thriller, The Maltese Falcon (1941), Sam Spade uses the Yiddish term, gunsel (“little goose”), several times to describe Wilmer, Kasper Gutman’s highly problematic “associate.” According to Hollywood lore, the term got by the censors because they thought that Bogart said, “gunman,” though in reality it's a slur for pretty boys kept for sexual purposes by older men. This being 1940s Hollywood, Wilmer is all that, plus every other gay stereotype the producers could think of: effeminate, soft-spoken and, of course, a psychotic killer.

My condolences for the containment breach I get how having thousands of ppl say the same joke over and over in the notes of your genuine analysis post can get annoying 😭 😭😭😭 I’m extremely down to hear more about the differences between the ninth and tenth doctors if you have any other insights you want to share though!!! I’ve been turning your post over and over in my brain like a rotisserie chicken ever since I read it it’s so good
omg thank you for your condolences...it really is the containment breach of all time...let me think!! I have a MAJOR tenth doctor video essay I may or may not make so here are the cliff notes:
-To begin. Anne Carson wrote that to live beyond the end of your myth is a perilous thing.
-in many ways, the 10th Doctor is cursed from his inception b/c he is born at the end of the Doctor and Rose's romantic arc (from a certain point of view) AND YET he is born sheerly out of love for her / to love her
-(we all know the fanon--or is it canon?--idea that Ten's face was subconciously selected to be one that Rose would like, and he's gone for her from the beginning...hello, The Christmas Invasion.)
-all that said, by the time The Parting of the Ways occurs, Rose and Nine have completed a full narrative arc:
-Nine whisked Rose away from the life of boredom and sheltered drudgery she experienced on the estate; she brought life back into the eyes of a hardened war veteran/The Last of the Time Lords
-more importantly, they complete a kind of mutualistic ultimate sacrifice (in a Shakesperian sense?) wherein Rose 'becomes' the Doctor by absorbing the literal heart of the TARDIS (we don't have time to get into that) and erasing the Daleks into dust, finishing the last of the Time War AND saving the Doctor's life
-he immediately returns the favor, absorbing the energy that's destroying her with a kiss (let it be known--the ONLY kiss between the Doctor and Rose Tyler proper--neither Tentoo or Cassandra really count imo), returning her to humanity, life, and safety
-all that said, Nine dies both saving AND being saved by Rose in a kind of unrivaled (?) parity between Doctor and companion. it's perfect synthesis.
-THEN 10 is born. uh-oh.
It is here that I would like to quote Michael Kinnucan's fabulous essay 'The Gods Show Up' on Greek tragedies:
The tragic hero is complete. You can call him unhappy (miserable, utterly broken) even before he is dead. For an instant he is something like divine. And then he dies, because there’s nothing left to do. The center of every tragedy is the image of a human being who has already died but keeps talking, someone whose face is a mask.
I think one of the most fascinating 10 v. 9 moments is that one scene that got cut where Rose says "I miss him." and the Doctor replies "Me too."
As many people in the notes of that original post point out (god help me) 10 is ALSO born IMMEDIATELY into heartbreak--whatever vestigal version of Nine lives inside him died with the despair of losing Rose
-TEN is the man that went sauntering away. perhaps that's part of why Ten is so terrified of/resentful towards regeneration. I think he's lived precisely the worst cost of it.
-The notion of 'talking after death' and 'wearing a face that's a mask' is a existentialist take on regeneration itself--ten EPITOMIZES this tragic hero archetype, esp. after Doomsday (literally! Doomsday!!)
-during his life, I wonder if Nine already considers himself lost in a sense? He's lived past the Time War, past the destruction of everything, and he's also the first NuWho Doctor. HIS ability to indulge in love (even in mortality, given his short lifespan) is different.
-TEN on the other hand has that INCREDIBLY frightening (for him) confrontation with Sarah Jane in School Reunion--knitting him back into canon continuum of Doctor Who, stitching him to the myth of The Doctor that has to live on and on and on in perpetuity--and seems VERY haunted by (im)mortality
-How much time does Ten spend running from Jack? A human being who CAN follow him to the end of time? Ten can't decide if he wants to be mortal or immortal, human or Time Lord. Think of the way he acts with Martha, with Wilf, with Donna. He is totally frozen inside of the space of his seasons. He has time paralysis (fatal, for a Time Lord)
-he is the first doctor that we see reallllly try to stave off regeneration
-That's why there's a certain frantic escapism to his adventures with Rose in S2--he knows, more than she does, that they are hurtling toward's disaster.
-he can't love Rose in a consumate way, even if he wanted to (he wants to) b/c he's trapped inside of his myth. he's like sisyphus. or that guy getting his liver ripped out by the eagle. Nine and Rose are lines that can cross. Ten and Rose are parallel lines. if they touch, the universe dissolves. hence why the narrative/God/Russel T. Davies had to lock her away in another universe
anways!
Ten once canonically carved a statue of Rose by hand with every inch of her body absolutely perfect, from memory, and I think that's crazy

⤹ AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hello everyone! I didn’t expect this to blow up the way it did, so I decided to edit the entire Masterlist and repost it while I continue editing the chapters on AO3 and here, too. Welcome to everyone who’s new here!
Likes and reblogs are always appreciated!
I’m trying not to describe any specific physical traits like body shape, hair color, etc. (although I think I called her skin “pale” once or twice in reference to her lack of sun exposure) in any of the chapters. The character was assigned female at birth and also identifies as female with she/her pronouns, but other than that, I do not give her any traits other than her name – Eliza Bennett. Her looks are entirely up to your imagination! So you can view this as a reader insert or not, whatever you want. It’s up to you how you interpret this story.

"ten and rose fucked before tooth and claw"
Tumblr media
it's hard to talk about the doctor and rose never had sex until tentoorose without sort of feeling like a buzzkill, and i think in fic and fanon everything goes, but if we are talking about canon and analysis in canon? they were not having sex - this is confirmed by rtd in his book multiple times.
to me, thinking they were having secret sex leads to a general misunderstanding of their relationship ngl. but more than that sex between new earth and tooth and claw actually makes the least amount of sense.
for example, i understand thinking they were having sex in fear her. i never thought this, and i still do not think they did- but sex taking place after the satan pit actually makes some narrative sense because those episodes are about the doctor letting go of some of his fears and literally and metaphorically allow himself to fall, fully, whatever that means! and their dynamic obviously becomes one of people who are in a commited romantic relationship. but in canon this is minus kissing and sex because he is still in the process of letting her in, not fully there, when doomsday happens- which is part of the tragedy of their seperation. all the things they didn't do and could not have ripped away before he was able heal enough to allow them to.
but despite this, if i squint, i GET sex after tsp.
but in tooth and claw? they are not there yet. not even remotely. first of all, rose is still dating mickey then. despite how we may or may not feel about this, she does kiss him before going to new earth with ten. is she having an emotional affair with the doctor? was she doing so since the first episode? yes, and it's delicious! (and let me remind you that mickey does cheat on her) do i think she would go past that? no. she is not that cruel, esp to not someone who she loves the way she does mickey - even if that relationship isn't what it once was.
on top of that, if they were shagging and in a commited relationship before school reunion, how do we make any peace with gitf? i hate this episode for various not shipper and for shipper reasons alike, but there are ways that i can look at it for it to make some sense. the doctor panicking about his depth of feeling for rose and knowing their life spans do not align after seeing sarah jane cause him to run off and attempt to distract himself. perhaps reinette mind raping him caused him to have feelings for her he wouldn't have otherwise. perhaps he was still, as we previously talked abt, was feeling frustrated with the on and off nature relationship of rose's relationship with mickey, perhaps that's also why he brought mickey on, to remind rose she has a boyfriend. all these things can be used to shift the episode to make some sense - and it's still a deeply ooc and icky episode imo - but if you think ten and rose are shagging in tooth and claw, HOW do you frame it in any other way than the doctor went off, abandoned rose and had a fling with someone else while having a sexual and romantic relationship with rose? it just doesn't fit in that place in their timeline.
it doesn't work. it's just not the time they would have had sex if they did, which they did not. and them not having had sex til he becomes human and has the freedom to be with her fully, and without reservations as she deserves, is not a bad thing. and it doesn't negate the love that they had in season one and two. and tbh them being happy and flirty does not automatically equate to sex and i kinda have a hard time wondering why people think it does. they're just happy to be together!

CHAPTER ONE / CHAPTER TWO / CHAPTER THREE / CHAPTER FOUR / CHAPTER FIVE / CHAPTER SIX / CHAPTER SEVEN / CHAPTER EIGHT / CHAPTER NINE / CHAPTER TEN (newest)
“The thing about fate is that it can’t be changed,” Tubbo heard Wilbur say to Tommy, more times than he liked to remember, “and if you try, bad things happen.”
Tubbo stared resolutely up at the ceiling, heart thundering.
“Don’t ever get on the wrong side of destiny, Tommy. It won’t treat you kindly.”
----
Tubbo has been a lot of things over the years of his life - a son, a villain, a sidekick, a hero: and just for once, he wants to try just being Tubbo. When he meets Ranboo, a nonpowered kid who he instantly takes a shining to, he thinks it might be possible.
But fate doesn’t like to be avoided, and Ranboo is hiding secrets of his own. Things begin to spiral, and it’s not long before Tubbo is racing towards the future while he tries to enjoy the present - and his past is catching up to him more than he’d like to admit.
The clock is ticking closer to Doomsday, and, for the first time, Tubbo realises it might not be possible to outrun his destiny, whether he wants to or not.
[Or, Tubbo is a hero. Ranboo is a villain. Their worlds collide.]

The Festival of Hope.
Held once a year, over the span of three days following the anniversary of L'Manburg's Doomsday. Organized by the Captain, and by the ex-King. Surrounding the crater of what was once a thriving nation, and filling its valley with joy and community once more.
A celebration of everything L'Manburg stood for.
It's been ten years, now. Ten years from the first Festival-- a small affair, the attendees primarily those who had once lived in L'Manburg, gathered to mourn and honor their past home.
Now, the Festival is a bustling event. Players from across the entire server come to take part in the festivities, to celebrate and honor the spirit of that which brought so many of them together. Children in Snowchester are allowed these days as a holiday from schools, and encouraged to visit the crater. Las Nevadas opens a miniature casino for the adults. It is built up to with delight and excitement, as a reminder of the community that once existed.
You have come to the festival, a young child who can not remember the days of L'Manburg but who has grown up with the stories of its existence. As far back as you can remember, you have visited the crater to pay respects to its legacy.
This year your parents have determined you old enough to attend on your own, and as you step up to the edge of the crater to leave your offering-- a small bundle of wildflowers, picked out of the snow and kept safe and alive for almost a week now, bundled up in warmth and sunlight within your home --you can't help but notice a tall man staring into it.
You've seen him around Snowchester before. He has dirty-blond hair, and he's drumming his fingers and talking to himself as he watches the crater. He's wearing a blue sweater that doesn't quite fit him right. He looks... sad.
You offer your flowers to him, instead. He shakes his head.
"It's just-- I can't believe after all this, people still-- They still care about it all," He says, gesturing to the piles of gifts and offerings left at the edge of the crater. "They remember it. They care about it. It's--"
He doesn't seem to know what to say next, and you can see the tears forming at the corners of his eyes.
"It wasn't all for nothing. It fucking-- it meant something. He was right. It meant something."
You stand there for a moment with him, letting the world be quiet, before placing your flowers where you'd meant for them to go. He smiles at you, then, reaching out to ruffle your hair with a laugh.
You notice that in his other hand, he's holding a pair of taped-up glasses. He sends you back to the festivities before you can ask about them.
"Don't fucking worry about me, bitch. I'll be back down eventually. Go have some fucking-- fun, or whatever."
He's smiling, still. There's something sad about it, but-- you turn to head back down, anyways.
You join in with a game some of the other kids are playing. You're soldiers, revolutionaries, fighting for their independence and freedom. Wooden swords and paper sashes become your battle gear, as you laugh and play with each other.
And, as you play, a grown fox offers to join in. He says you can't be soldiers without an enemy to fight. Without someone you can stand up against. And so he takes up the role of the bad guy, with an over-the-top laugh and a sly grin on his face. He seems to be having fun. You know you are.
When he's defeated, he tells you you fought well. You're not sure you did, but he's playing with you and nobody else is willing to be the bad guy, so you guess he's alright. Still, as he walks away, you hear him mutter something under his breath.
"Good kids. Clearly their parents didn't leave them for some dumb war. Maybe-- maybe this isn't so bad, after all."
You forget about what you heard quickly enough, though, as you're swept up in the excitement of reenactments. This has always been one of your favorite parts of the Festival: watching as the stories of L'Manburg are told through theatrical productions. You know them all by heart.
As you watch, this year, you can't help but overhear comments from some of the other attendees. A pair of people-- a woman with pink hair, and a man wearing a headset --keep up a humorous, if not... entirely kind, commentary throughout all of it.
"They always forget to talk about the anteaters," The pink-haired lady insists during the initial revolution, half-snickering as she does so. "We had to sit through that rant so many times. You'd think they'd remember it."
"Yeah, or the time they counted rations wrong and we were left eating fucking coconuts for a week. D'you think that's where Fundy got the idea for his campaign name?" The man replies, a matching grin on his face.
You don't know quite how to feel about their commentary, but-- at the very least it's funny, and you've heard the stories enough times to enjoy them. They seem to be having fun, too, and-- isn't that the point, of it all?
The man laughed at anything involving Jack Manifold, Tommyinnit's friend, and the woman seemed to pay no attention to the story of the baker-warrior Niki Nihachu. You aren't quite sure why. You always liked those stories, but-- well. Nothing's perfect for everyone.
The festival continues. You find yourself enjoying every moment of it, as you play games and sing songs and listen to the tales of L'Manburg. Here and there you spot the Captain, guiding people around and ensuring everything is moving smoothly. Her wool is dyed with L'Manburgian colors, as it is for every year.
You catch up with her properly, once, and ask her for a story. A real story about L'Manburg.
She tells the tale of a knight, too slow to protect the country the first time and too slow to protect it a second, but finally able to protect its legacy. She talks of how the knight set the captive heroes free, by protecting their legacy in their place. She talks about children, finally allowed to just live, because the knight swore to never let Doomsday happen again.
You don't quite understand how it connects with L'Manburg properly, but she's called away for the closing ceremonies before you get the chance to ask for more stories.
And as the final day comes to an end, you attend the closing ceremonies the same as everyone else.
They're led by Eret. They're always, always led by Eret. Every year, she tells the story of her involvement with L'Manburg, and of her work to repent for what she did to them so very long ago. And every year, he closes the speech with a simple enough request: to remember.
To remember what the country stood for-- freedom, and peace, and hope, and community.
To remember what happened to it-- to never let it happen again.
To remember their errors-- so that you can be better.
This year, ten years after the first Festival, she adds a new statement to her closing speech. A statement that you don't... quite understand the weight of, though the surface of it makes enough sense.
"I remember everything. I regret hurting my brethren, I have always regretted it. I know that you will never forgive me. I do not deserve to be forgiven. But I hope that-- that I have given you some amount of peace. The chance to live your own lives, comfortable and quiet and happy. I hope that you can heal. I hope that the ideals we fought for stand strong, and true."
Were you to look at the entire audience, you would have noticed the people you've been speaking to this entire time staring at Eret. The sad man with the sweater, holding his brothers' glasses tighter than ever. The fox just letting a soft laugh out, muttering under his breath that he'd forgiven her a long time ago. The woman with the pink hair and the man with the headset, exchanging thoughtful glances with each other and murmuring between themselves.
And with that, the Festival of Hope is over. The attendees begin to disperse, and you move back towards the transport to Snowchester with the rest of the kids you came with.
You're excited to see your family again. To go back to your quiet little community, and tell them all about your time at the Festival. About all the people you met, and the stories you heard.
To live your life, safe and happy and comfortable.
Just as they'd always hoped the people could.

“The Boy Who Cried Wolf” [AO3]
Pairings: Tenth Doctor & Martha Jones (completely platonic), Tenth Doctor x Rose Tyler (past), The Doctor x The Master (past, toxic)
Words: 111,211
Chapters: 29/29
Rating: Teen for like 90% of it, Mature when it gets to the Year That Never Was starting with Chapter 24
Series? Yes! Third in “The Howling” (series in-progress)
Summary: After losing Rose, the Doctor has to rediscover how and why to carry on, even as his oldest enemies and worst nightmares continue to resurface. Meanwhile, medical student Martha Jones gets a whole lot more than she bargained for when her hospital ends up on the moon. But will she ever get back for her exams?
Notes/Warnings: content warnings available with each chapter, edited trigger-free versions available for certain chapters (linked in chapter notes). As with the rest of the series, not Moffat-friendly, not 50th anniversary compliant. Follows a dark AU twist on Doomsday from my previous work, “Something of the Wolf.” Not a fic for Martha haters, not a fic for TenMartha shippers, not a fic for Rose haters or Donna haters either. Radically alters the dynamic between Ten & Martha to give her different emotional arcs. No unrequited love between them. Will take a deep and intense look at certain moments during the Year That Never Was and the messed up relationship between the Doctor and the Master. Will occasionally AU episodes to try to spare Martha at least a little bit of the misogynoir from canon. Individual work doesn’t really have a happy ending for the Doctor but the series as a whole absolutely will. Certain chapters of this work deal seriously with grief, suicidal ideation, past experiences of intimate partner violence and relationship abuse, Time War traumas, etc. but all are HEAVILY SIGNPOSTED and alternative summaries/excerpts are available.
Selected Review Excerpts:
“I have chills. Jeez louis, Lia, what in the devil? How did you write an incomprehensible concept in a way I could comprehend?”
“I am so utterly *thrilled* that you are doing away with the unrequited romance aspect of Martha's time with the Doctor!”
“*Screams incoherently*”
“I am entertained in a messed up way”

The Last of Us x Stucky crossover
SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 3 OF TLOU
Full prompt below the cut (I will turn this prompt into a full fic later on, so please don't use it):
When the world fell, Bucky Barnes was prepared. Ten years as sniper in the STRIKE team under the helm of Commander Alexander Peirce had left him wounded and wary. His family and friends dubbed him a paranoid doomsday prepper, but Bucky knew exactly the kind of people who were in charge, and a major crisis was only a matter of time.
So when the cordyceps infection spread, he put his bunker, surveillance equipment, and tactical gear to good use. His small town near Shelbyville, Indiana gets evacuated and he watches through his camera screens as everyone else blindly puts their trust in a corrupt military which will only lead them to their death. He stays hidden, bidding his time, until finally he’s the only left.
The apocalypse isn’t so bad when you’ve been prepping for it for the past three years. He doesn't mind being alone. He prefers it that way, really. He spends his days building traps for the infected and making himself self-sufficient. He has his chickens to care for, his garden to tend to, and his books and jazz records to keep him company. He wants for nothing more.
Things get derailed when a man named Steve falls down one of his traps. All Bucky wants is to send him on his way and go back to his solitary routine, but Steve’s enchanting blue eyes and handsome smile somehow get past each and every barbed-wire fences he’s put around his heart over the years. Steve tells him stories, makes jokes, and paints pictures. He’s everything Bucky ever dreamt of before he became a soldier.
Too bad Steve is probably just seducing him to stay in his compound and survive another day.
Moodboard and prompt for @cabottombingo, square B2 'Free Space'

Hi Mech!
How's life treating you?
Heyo sweetest anon ❤️👋
Life went from manageably chaotic to a steep descent into pure chaos. After moving to a new country back in November, my previous job started causing problems. Then we had to say goodbye to our dog which hot harder than we thought it would, as we agreed and understood that he'd had a long and happy life. The emptiness without him shadowing us was one we weren't completely prepared for though... Then the previous work caused even more troubles, forcing us to move back again so that we could slap them with the big old doomsday of legal actions. As if all of this wasn't enough, our now oldest dog has bad hip dysplasia which he underwent surgery for last May, removing his right hip. Well... No more than two weeks back in the country, the left hip started acting up and he was rushed in for surgery to remove the left hip too. The surgery went very well and he's doing absolutely beautifully! 🥰 We're so proud of him! 👏 But beside the court stuff and his daily rehabilitation, and vet visits, there hasn't been much time to just sit down and have fun with writing.
The shadow of Ma Miles constantly hangs over me, but I've had to prioritize what's important IRL for now. Chapter 22 is almost ready though, but I don't dare jinx anything by predicting a release date for the chapter.
I'm really so sorry that Ma Miles suddenly hit a lengthy hiatus though. These past ten months has been absolutely wild and I'm so ready for all of this to be over soon! 😮‍💨
So yeah... That's how life is treating me atm 😅🤭 I do hope that your life is easier than this though! 😁❤️

i've always been a huge fan of new who's holy trinity - nine, ten and eleven. i tried to get into twelve as well but he just didn't feel like the doctor to me and i couldn't stand clara so i just stopped watching doctor who, which has been my favourite show for nearly a decade. i decided to borrow season 8 and 9 on dvd last month to give them a decisive shot, resuming after 4 years. against all odds and what i, myself, would've sincerely imagined, they finally grew on me. both of them. in just 3 weeks, mind you! so i'm writing this after finishing face the raven, which i knew would be the episode where clara dies, thanks to a lovely spoiler on this very app. i knew i wasn't ready to see it happen though, and oh god - i was definitely not prepared for how it happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
losing a main companion on doctor who is always upsetting, to put it mildly, but it was heartbreaking for several reasons this time. first of all, tell me this isn't twelve & clara's very own doomsday? this is literally ten & rose standing on darlig ulv stranden, knowing they're about to say goodbye but the expected 3 little words are yet again robbed from us. he was ready to say them this time!!

nothing new here, but this show never disappoints when it comes to speeches so we have clara basically telling the doctor not to let this turn him into another ashildr while he's - pardon the word - dying to save her. he always tries to save everybody, but this loss is obviously a much bigger deal to him.
now, this is where it gets specific. remember that part in the girl who died where twelve shows more emotion than he'd done in most of season 8 and is desperate to the point where he goes "i am so sick of losing people"? he was telling clara after failing to save... yes, none other than the person who'd turn out to be responsible for clara's death. hero-turned-villain, ashildr/me. a villain he'd encounter for the first time in the woman who lived, although they did agree on some sort of truce at the end of the episode, by which point i'm sure he'd regretted saving her at least once, considering how cruel she'd become, but that feeling must've gone past the point of no return when she not only lured him, clara and rigby in that hidden street out of the blue but also took the woman he loves. no, she might not have known that clara would take on the weight that was on rigby's shoulders but she had no reason to do everything that led up to that event. there was nothing the doctor could do to save clara this time, and that wouldn't have happened if he hadn't given ashildr the chip that made her immortal and turned her into such a cruel person.
another thing: he told clara not to run because he wanted to be with her till the very last second, which is pretty significant since running is what he always tells people to do. she went outside and he followed her. all he could do was watch her die and stand there with all the anger in the universe inside of him. he would've raised hell for her but she didn't want to see him like that in their last moments spent together.
this hug obviously means even more than usual, and we know what the doctor told clara after demonstrating an aversion for hugging in season 8: a hug is just a way to hide your face.
Tumblr media
oh, sweet heartbreaking hints peppered throughout season 9.

Getting to Know a Character from My WIP
Thanks for the tag @late-to-the-fandom! Passing it along (with no pressure) to @space-cadead @korblez @andromedaexists @calicojackofficial @menagerie-of-monsters @vacantgodling & anyone else who wants to share (just tag me so I can read about your cool OCs, deal?)
Since they've been part of every tag game lately, might as well let Kinslayer have this one too.
Relationship Status: Complicated. (Tends to come with the territory when you've reached a millennium of existence or so.) Haru has sort of been their honorary spouse/life partner for the past few hundred years. But even then, monogamy has never factored into the equation for either, and both go off and do their own things, often for decades at a time. Like, for instance, flirt with/terrify Coven researchers who were already experiencing a bad run of luck with vampires.
Favourite Colour: The scintillating flashes that go through a human's aura when enraged.
Favourite Food: The smoldering fury of someone who's been wronged and refuses to take it laying down. Also, they won't say no to a decent taco.
Song stuck in their head: They still get music for the saltarello running through their head from time to time centuries later. If that's not an earworm, they don't know what is.
Last thing they searched on a BBS: Their own bounty. Hasn't gone up since last time.
Time: Around ten seconds to midnight on the Doomsday Clock.
Last Thing They Read: *looks at cover featuring illustration of wind-swept, half-naked people on it* Guess it was called Desire's Blossom. Antique shops practically give these kinds of old books away, but you wouldn't know it from the residual emotions Kinslayer finds attached to them. Somebody valued the hell out of these things at one time, spending hours imprinting their longing, despair, desires, and joy into the crumbling pages.
Last Book They Enjoyed Reading: The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Was a good reminder of what happens when you buy into the idea that you're a chosen one.
Favourite thing to cook/bake: Do they look like Betty Crocker to you, friend?
Favourite thing to do in their free time: Let their consciousness hitchhike with other creatures. Live a while as something else. They still have weird dreams from their stint as an octopus sometimes.
Most niche dislike: Ketchup. It's salsa for cowards.
Opinion on circuses: Like most things humans come up with, they're a marriage of thoughtless cruelty and numinous wonder. Some have pretty good corn dogs.
Do they have a good sense of direction: Despite the fact they're headed nowhere, yes.

sign the petition to foil Manchin’s dirty side deal
In a major speech I recently expressed my strong opposition to the so-called Manchin "side deal" that the fossil fuel industry is pushing to make it easier for them to pollute the environment and destroy the planet. Basically, at a time when the United States and the entire world are reeling from the devastating impacts of climate change, it is insane to be increasing fossil fuel production and carbon emissions.
As the father of four and the grandfather of seven, I very much wish that I did not have to say this. But the most serious challenge facing our country and the entire world today far and away is the existential threat of climate change. That’s not just Bernie Sanders talking. That’s what the scientific community is telling us in a virtually unanimous voice.
The latest report from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is very clear and it is very foreboding. If the United States, China and the rest of the world do not act extremely aggressively in cutting carbon emissions, our planet will face enormous and irreversible damage. In fact, the world that we will be leaving our children and future generations will be increasingly unhealthy and uninhabitable.
But the truth is we don’t need another study to tell us that.
The American people and people throughout the world are seeing the devastating impact climate change is having on their communities and their families with their own eyes. And please understand that everything that we are seeing today will likely become worse, much worse, in the years to come.
Just take a look around at what’s happening right now in the United States and around the world:
The past eight years have been the hottest years in recorded history.
The western half of the U.S. is experiencing its worst drought in over 1,200 years.
Right now California, Nevada and Utah are experiencing record-breaking heat.
Historic rainfall and devastating floods took place over a 5-week stretch this summer in eastern Kentucky; eastern Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Death Valley, California; and Dallas, Texas. These are supposed to be one in a thousand year torrential rainfalls.
Right now, Europe is experiencing its worst drought in over 500 years.
A massive heat wave in Spain and Portugal killed more than 2,000 people in July.
Historically hot weather in London and China literally melted bridges, airplane runways and rooftops. Let me repeat that: the extremely hot weather in London and China this summer literally melted bridges, rooftops and airplane runways.
Record-breaking forest fires in Europe have already burned 1.6 million acres of land – 56% more than the previous record set in 2017 – over eight times the size of New York City.
Record-breaking drought in China has caused parts of the Yangtze River to completely dry up. This is the third largest river in the world and the source of drinking water for 400 million people.
Catastrophic rainfall and massive floods have been going on for weeks in Pakistan killing at least 1,200 and displacing 10 million people as one-third of Pakistan is now underwater.
And if all of this is not sobering enough, a glacier in Antarctica that scientists have dubbed “the doomsday glacier” has been in “rapid retreat” and is melting much faster than previous predictions. Without this glacier and its supporting ice shelves, sea levels could rise by three to ten feet which could cause entire coastal communities to flood and go under water forever. We are talking here about major, major cities around the United States and across the globe that could be underwater in the coming decades. Think about the mass dislocation, turmoil and international tensions that these migrations will have.
And on and on it goes.
In the past, a series of climate disasters like these might have seemed like a silly plot in a bad movie about the apocalypse. Unfortunately, however, this is not a movie. This is reality. This is what we are experiencing right in front of us. And, again, this entire scenario will likely become worse, much, much worse if the United States, China and the rest of the world do not act together to break our dependence on fossil fuel.
Let us be clear: If the entire planet, led by the largest economy in the world, the United States of America, does not get its act together, we will see more devastating and extreme heat. We will see more floods, more rising sea levels, more extreme weather disturbances, more ocean acidification, more drought, more famine, more disease, and more human suffering.
And today, to all of my colleagues who have children and grandchildren, I ask you to think about what they will say when they look you in the eyes and ask why did you allow this to happen?
We know that climate change is real. We know that climate change is caused by carbon emissions. We know that climate change is already causing devastating destruction throughout the world. We know that if we don’t rapidly transform our energy system away from fossil fuels towards energy efficiency and renewable energy the situation will only become worse, much worse and our planet will face irreparable and irreversible harm.
That is the reality that we face today. And yet, given all that we know, given all that the scientists are telling us, what is the United States Congress about to do?
It is seriously considering legislation to provide a huge giveaway to Big Oil to drill, produce and sell more fossil fuels.
Really? At a time when climate change is threatening the very existence of the planet, why would anybody be talking about substantially increasing carbon emissions and expanding fossil fuel production in the United States? What kind of message does this send to the people of our own country and to suffering people all over the world?
Like every other member of the Senate I have a pretty good understanding of how politics works. Like every other Senator I understand what campaign contributions are about, what lobbyists do, and the extraordinary power of the fossil fuel industry to push the legislation they want.
But I beg of my colleagues that, at this moment, when the future of the world is literally at stake, that we have the courage to stand up to the fossil fuel industry and to tell them, and the politicians they sponsor, that the future of the planet is more important than their short-term profits.
In the coming weeks and months, the Senate has a fundamental choice to make.
We can listen to the fossil fuel industry and climate deniers who are spending huge amounts of money on lobbying and campaign contributions to pass this dirty side deal.
Or we can listen to the scientists and the environmental community who are telling us loudly and clearly to reject this side deal and eliminate the $15 billion in tax breaks and subsidies Congress is already providing to big oil and gas companies each and every year.
While the legislative text of this side deal has not been made public, according to a one-page summary that was released last month, this bill would make it easier for the fossil fuel industry to receive permits to complete some of the dirtiest and most polluting oil and gas projects in America.
Specifically, this deal would approve the $6.6 billion Mountain Valley Pipeline – a 303-mile fracked gas pipeline spanning from West Virginia to Virginia and potentially on to North Carolina. We’re talking about a pipeline that would generate emissions equivalent to 37 coal plants or over 27 million cars each and every year.
It is hard for me to understand why anyone who is concerned about climate change would consider for one second voting to approve a pipeline that would be equivalent to putting 27 million more cars on the road each and every year.
On August 24th, over 650 environmental and civil rights organizations wrote a letter to Majority Leader Schumer and Speaker Pelosi urging them to reject this side deal. This letter was signed by the Sierra Club, the Sunrise Movement, Friends of the Earth, Physicians for Social Responsibility, 350.org, Greenpeace, Public Citizen, People’s Action and the NAACP.
And here is what that letter says:
“On behalf of 653 frontline communities and environmental...organizations representing millions of members and supporters nationwide, we are writing to express our strenuous opposition to any additional fossil fuel giveaways. Alarming proposals have been referenced by Senator Manchin, in a short memo, and in legislative language that was clearly drafted in consultation with the American Petroleum Institute (API). It has been reported that Manchin has demanded these handouts to the fossil fuel industry as a further price for his vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which already included large giveaways to polluters. We call on you to unequivocally reject any effort to promote fossil fuels, advance unproven technologies, and weaken our core environmental laws…This fossil fuel wish list is a cruel and direct attack on environmental justice communities and the climate. This legislation would truncate and hollow-out the environmental review process, weaken Tribal consultations, and make it far harder for frontline communities to have their voices heard by gutting bedrock protections in the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act…Supporting this legislation would represent a profound betrayal of frontline communities and constituents across the country who have called on you to…advance a just, renewable energy future.”
I could not agree more.
I should also add that at least 59 of our colleagues in the House of Representatives will soon be releasing a letter expressing strong opposition to this side deal. Let me quote from that letter:
“According to media reports, there is agreement to advance a series of anti-environmental and anti-environmental justice provisions through the House, at the behest of the American Petroleum Institute (API). These destructive provisions will allow polluting manufacturing and energy development projects to be rushed through before the families who are forced to live near them are even aware of the plans … We remain deeply concerned that these serious and detrimental permitting provisions will significantly and disproportionately impact low-income communities, indigenous communities, and communities of color. The inclusion of these provisions in a continuing resolution, or any other must-pass legislation, would silence the voices of frontline and environmental justice communities by insulating them from scrutiny. Such a move would force Members to choose between protecting EJ communities from further pollution or funding the government. We urge you to ensure that these provisions are kept out of a continuing resolution or any other must-pass legislation this year.”
Today, I am urging all of my colleagues to stand with the 650 organizations and 59 Members of Congress and reject this dirty side deal.
Please sign my petition to show where you stand:
Add your name to my petition to tell Congress to reject the Manchin dirty side deal that would make it easier for the fossil fuel industry to pollute the environment and destroy the planet.
Let me repeat again: For the sake of our children, our grandchildren and future generations we have got to make it clear to the fossil fuel industry that their short-term profits are not more important than the future of our planet.
Thank you for reading.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders

My perusal of old FFnet favorites continues on. I've been pretty pleased to find so many cross posted to Ao3, though occasionally I'll find one that started to get cross posted and, sadly, was never completed. But I can still bookmark the completed external version and keep an eye on the incomplete versions in hope that, one day, they'll get the rest of the chapters added after all.
Double Crossing by JessaLRynn - Ten and Rose run into Seven and Ace at a Star Trek convention. Throw in some actual aliens, a missing prince, and disguised weapons dealers and it's just another Tuesday for these four, really.
A Ten/Rose (with some Seven/Rose too) fic now with a follow up Eight/Rose story. Double Crossing shows as much love to Star Trek as it does Doctor Who and it's a wild ride from start to finish. I was glad to find it over on Ao3 where it's rated T.
KOTOR: Revan's Second Chance by VMorticia - Revan remembers who he is after the escape from the Endar Spire; not everything, but enough. And while he no longer has the ambition to be a Dark Lord of the Sith, Revan knows two things. Admitting he remembers who he is would be a terrible idea and… what happened to Malak is his mess to clean up.
It's an unusual premise (especially for a fic following the game's light side path) and one I really enjoyed. Revan can be at times charming or an ass, but he does care a great deal about others. So it's easy to see the Jedi he used to be and the Sith he became in the person he is now. I was unable to find it on Ao3, so this one is linked to FFnet. It's rated T and the ship is eventually Bastila/Revan.
The Adventures of Ten, Rose, and Jack by SanguineInk - The series starts with Two Months, in which the Doctor and Rose show up before the ghosts start showing up and run straight into Torchwood One. Which is when Jack shows up, just in time to help fight some Torchwood One flunkies and some Cybermen too.
A four part series with Ten/Rose and Ten, Rose, and Jack friendship that starts as a Doomsday fix-it and grows from there. It's a lot of running, drama, and fun, so it really captures the feel of the show. I read the first three over on FFnet years ago, so I'm thrilled to find there's actually a fourth fic in the series now that I've rediscovered it on Ao3.
Shadows of the Future by stormqueen873 - After losing the duel on Mustafar, Obi-Wan wakes in the past right as Anakin walks into his life for the first time. And Obi-Wan is determined to ensure things won't happen the same way around this time.
While this did start to get cross-posted on Ao3 back in 2016, looks like it was never completed there. The version I've linked to is on FFnet, which is complete. While I do wonder why it didn't get finished when crossposted to Ao3, I'm glad the FFnet version is still around because this is probably my favorite time traveling Obi-Wan fic out there. It's rated K+ and is gen, with a focus on Obi-Wan's relationships with Qui-Gon and Anakin.
Fools Rush In by LoveSupreme - X-Men AU where Erik runs a coffee shop and has a bit of a crush on a handsome man who passes by every day. It wouldn't have come to anything, until one day Annoying Cappucino Lady drags her cute friend Charles into Erik's shop.
It's on Ao3 now and has a whole series!!! I don't remember this one strongly but I do remember it being cute. So having even more story now makes me pretty excited. It's not rated on Ao3, but it's probably about a T? I don't remember anything warranting an M in there, though I could be wrong. And the ship is, of course, Charles/Erik.
Charlotte Francine Xavier by Blind_Author - A rewrite of X-Men First Class, where Charles Xavier is now Charlotte. And though much stays the same… so much is changed too.
I was excited to find this one on Ao3 too. A lot of the beats here are the same as in the movie, but the fic also does a good job of distinguishing itself from the movie's plot too. Obviously its a genderswap fic and the ship is Charlotte/Erik. Rated Explicit and I do remember it earns that rating pretty hard and it has some darker elements to it than the movie did.
If I Knew You Then: Part 1 by Ruchira - When Tom and B'Elanna meet at the Academy, years before Voyager is lost in the Delta Quadrant, it completely changes their lives.
The first of four fics following Tom and B'Elanna from the Academy to their eventual arrival on Voyager; while they end up stranded in the Delta Quadrant on Voyager in the end, just like in canon, how they get there changes radically. It's Tom/B'Elanna for the ship and all the fics are rated T. I wasn't able to find them on Ao3, but they're all still up on FFnet.

Step {Back} In Time
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Fem! OC
Author's Note: Hello and welcome. This is my season two fic (and sequel to Time and Chase). I will be posting daily. *Please note that I am well aware that Elliot Page portrays Viktor, but due to season two being before his transition, that is why his character is still Vanya. I am not deadnaming him and I sincerely hope I don't come across as such. I will transition when I write season three.*
Warnings: cursing.

The Frankel Footage
~ * ~
On April the 1st, 2019, the Earth was destroyed in a cataclysmic event.
Billions of people were wiped out in a matter of minutes.
Ironically, the seven survivors of the apocalypse were the very family members who brought it on.
~ * ~
Five leapt up from his seat and ran after Luther. Karina slowly got up, following after him.
"The hell is wrong with you, Luther? I just told you the world's gonna end in ten days," Five stopped him.
"Yeah, well, you're always saying that," he tried to leave again, but Five stopped him.
"And so far, I've been right!"
"Look, you two want to go save the world? Knock yourselves out, all right? I already got a job," Luther remarked.
"Wait, you work in this shit hole?" Five wrinkled his nose.
"Yeah. Well, my boss owns the place. I'm his body man," Luther briefly explained.
"What's that? Like a masseuse or something?" Five frowned as Karina scoffed out,"You're into politics now?"
"Okay, you two can make fun all you want, but I take good care of Mr. Ruby," Luther defended himself.
Five paused and Karina asked, "Wait, Ruby?"
"The Jack Ruby, the gangster who shot Oswald?" Five stared at Luther.
"Yeah, the one and only," Luther lifted a shoulder casually.
"Well, it finally happened. That gorilla DNA has taken over your mind," Five commented.
"Hey, watch it, all right? Jack's a good friend," Luther whispered.
"And you're Number One. Número Uno. Remember?" Five pointed out.
"There is no Number One," Luther shook his head. "Not anymore. Not in 1963. Look, I've been stranded here alone for a year. What did you expect?"
"I get it, all right?" Five sighed. "You watched Pogo die, the world exploded, and I marooned your big dumb ass in time. I'm sorry, okay?" he sighed. "But I'm asking for your help, Luther. The Umbrella Academy needs you."
He scoffed softly. "It doesn't need me. It never did."
A woman came over and said something to Luther.
"Ah, shit," Luther tried to walk past.
"Luther, wait. Listen," Five took his arm.
Luther looked at him. "You're the genius who said we should jump. Right? You're the one who got us stuck here. And Karina was the one who brought Vanya. So if there is a doomsday coming, she's probably the cause. And if I was gonna do something about it, it sure as hell is not gonna be with you two."
With that oh so reassuring remark, he left the two. Five and Karina sat at the bar, probably gaining some looks. Five definitely gained some when he slid a glass of whiskey off a passing tray.
"You do realize people are looking at us, right?" Karina eyed him.
"Does it look like I care?" he shot back.
She merely rolled her eyes as they watched Luther peel a drunk man away from Jack Ruby.
Five took a drink and set the glass down. "Dad should have left him on the moon."
Karina gave him a look, but didn't say a word.
"What? No nudge or comment in their defense to make me be nicer?" Five airily joked.
"Split second decision to stop wasting my breath on it," she sighed.
He shook his head as the two slid out of the chairs. Though Five's blazer got caught and ripped.
"Nice going. I don't think I can fix that," Karina inspected his pocket, but she frowned when she pulled out a small box with a roll of film in it. "Five? What's this?"
Five plucked it from her hand and studied it carefully. Then he remembered. Hazel slipped it into his pocket yesterday.
"Hazel. We need to get this developed as soon as possible. Come on," Five blinked them out and back to Elliot's place.
~ * ~
Karina was inspecting the photos Elliott had pinned up. "Elliot, did you develop these photos yourself?"
"Of course. Can't exactly drop that stuff off at the neighborhood Fotomat. Government has eyes everywhere," Elliot answered.
"I didn't see a darkroom," she glanced at him.
"Yeah, I converted the hallway closet."
Elliot tended to a squealing machine as Five marked out the date on the box.
He strolled over to him with the box of film. "Can you develop this?"
"Hmm?" Elliot turned and took the box, reading the back. "Huh. "Frankel Footage." Friends of yours?"
"Cousins on my robot mother's side. Can you do it or not?"
"Sure I can."
"How long?" Karina questioned.
"Well, I mean, I'm running low on acetic acid," Elliot began. "Beeker's Cameras is open today, but it's two miles away. I mean, I'd have to take the bus. On the other hand, Gibson's is only ten blocks away, but I gotta cut through the park, and there's pigeons-"
"Elliott," Five interrupted him.
"It's like five, maybe six hours."
"Attention all units, we have a code 3-15 at the Holbrook Sanitarium," a man's voice from the radio announced.
Five glanced back and then at Elliot. "The hell is a code 3-15?"
"Mmm, fugitives on the run."
"Twenty-five patients still at large. Many are considered armed and dangerous," the voice continued as Five and Karina made their way over.
"Oh, Diego," Five whispered.
"Oh, who's Diego?" Elliot joined them.
Five pursed his lips. "Imagine Batman, then aim lower," he shot.
The radio chatter continued indistinctly.
"I swear, that man will never learn. He's an idiot. Soon he's going to have all the feds after him!" Karina commented in disbelief.
Five let out a laugh, looking up in amusement.
"What are you laughing at?" she eyed him sideways.
"Oh, how I adore you, darling," he planted a kiss on her cheek. Then he looked at Elliot. "You get started on that film. We'll be back as soon as we can."
With that, Five and Karina blinked out.
~ * ~
Five and Karina reappeared in the backseat of the car Diego and Lila Pitts were hiding in.
"Then why are you doing this?" Lila asked Diego.
"Because he is an idiot," Five replied, causing Lila to jump and whip around.
"Who the hell are you two?" she questioned.
"Hi. I'm his loving brother," Five smiled and waved sarcastically.
"I'm his affectionate sister-in-law," Karina added.
"Who left me to rot in the nuthouse. Both of you," Diego was still mad about that.
"To protect you from yourself," Five retorted.
"That's quite sweet," Lila commented.
"Okay, the three of you, out!" Diego shouted.
"Lose the crazy lady and come with us. We have important business," Five turned to Diego.
"I am not going anywhere with you two," Diego fired back.
Five eyed a policeman walking past. "Okay, fine." He slid over to the window. "Officer!" he called out smugly.
"Hey!" Diego launched himself at Five, grabbing his blazer and pulling him back. "What are you doing?"
"I hear there's a reward out for you two and I'm long overdue for a honeymoon," Five retorted, causing Karina to eye him with an arched eyebrow.
Lila blinked. "He's bluffing."
Diego stared down at Five, who had a sly expression.
"He's not," Karina casually stated.
"Fine. I'll go with you two," Diego relented.
"What about me?" Lila spoke up.
Five, Diego, and Karina looked at her.
"And I'm bringing the crazy lady. Because if you can take your wife around, I can take Lila around," Diego told Five before he could object.
Five and Karina glanced at Lila warily, but decided to stay silent as to not lose Diego's compliance.
~ * ~
The four made their way up the stairs from the salesroom to Elliot's place.
However, they were met with a very panicked Elliott, aiming a shotgun at them as he came out of a room. "Where did you get the film? "The Frankel Footage." The truth this time."
"You know this lunatic?" Diego asked.
Five sighed. "New acquaintance."
"He's harmless," Karina added.
"Are you sure about that?" Lila pointed out.
"Are you or are you not an enemy of the people?" Elliot shouted.
The four paused for a second from that.
"Such an open-ended question," Diego commented.
"Really depends on the people," Five nodded in agreement.
Lila and Karina exchanged a rather confused look.
"You move one more muscle, I will blow your brains out," Elliot threatened.
"You want to take this or should I?" Diego questioned lowly.
"No, I got him," Five clenched his jaw.
"Hey, Lila…" Diego turned her to him as Five blinked out.
Five reappeared in front of Elliott, shoving his rifle up as Elliot shot at the ceiling and made glass rain down. Diego grabbed the rifle from Elliot and emptied it.
"What the hell just happened?" Lila sputtered out.
Karina sighed. "I'll go get the footage. Elliot, dear, where did you put it?" She glanced at him as he speechlessly flailed his hand. "The table? Excellent."
After securing aka tying up Elliot, Karina got a projector and Diego hung up a sheet so everyone could watch. Lila was busily painting Elliot's toenails green.
"Is it on?" the woman in the footage asked. "I don't know. What do you mean? There's an "on" button. Just-there's something over-that jigga-ma-thing, whatever."
"I hit the jigga-ma-thing," the man in the footage told her.
"Okay, well, just-give it to me. I know how to do this."
"All right, here. Here. Hurry up."
"Okay, all right, let's see…" their chatter continued on film.
"They're so cute. I love old couples. I'm always so proud of them for not murdering each other," Lila spoke casually.
Karina held back a snort from that, finding irony in her statement. She was pressed against Five's side with his arm around her waist.
"Why are we watching this?" Diego was sitting on the counter.
"Shush," Five told him.
"Yeah, I…I'm Dan Frankel. And…" the man introduced himself.
"I'm Edna Frankel," the woman's voice cut in.
"Edna Frankel," Dan echoed. "We are in Dallas, Texas, to see the president. Today's date is November 22, 1963."
That made Diego's head turn.
"Well, that's six days from now," Lila observed rather skeptically.
"Holy shit. This is it," Diego leaned forward and Elliot fidgeted some. "The grassy knoll. Kennedy's about to get shot. How do you have this?" Diego wanted to know.
"Hazel died to get us this footage. It must be the key to stopping doomsday," Five replied.
"Hazel?" Diego repeated.
"Long story," Karina responded.
"What's doomsday?" Lila piped up.
"Longer story," Five kept his eyes on the screen.
"What exactly did he say to you two?" Diego questioned.
"Well, he was killed before he could explain," Karina sighed.
"But whatever he wanted us to see, it's on this film," Five finished.
"This is very exciting," Dan continued as gunshots suddenly sounded in the film.
People began screaming.
"Oh, my God!" Dan exclaimed.
"Oswald," Diego muttered.
"The president!" Dan commented as screams continued on film.
Five exhaled when he saw an all too familiar figure. "Oh, no." He went over to the machine and rewound the film, pausing it.
He and Diego were staring at the screen in disbelief as Five moved the machine farther away.
"This can't be," he went towards the screen.
"Okay, you gonna fill me in now, boys? What the hell is this shit we're watching?" Lila watched them approach the screen closely.
"No, that's impossible," Diego said.
"Clearly, it's not," Five remarked.
"What…What is it?" Elliot asked, though his voice was muffled.
"Dad," Five and Diego breathed out in shock.
After a few moments of collective shock, the world seemed to resume orbit. Five was pacing relentlessly and Diego was perched on the table.
"Of course Dad would be involved in the assassination. I should've known," Diego muttered.
"No, you're jumping to conclusions," Five retorted.
"What else is he doing standing on the grassy knoll, holding an open black umbrella on a sunny day in Dallas the exact same moment the president gets shot?" Diego leapt to his feet and shouted.
"It doesn't look good, I admit!"
"No, he's the signalman for the whole goddamn thing."
"Easy, Diego," Five warned him.
"Seriously," Karina added, watching them closely with her arms crossed.
"No, it makes sense. This is what Hazel was obviously trying to tell you two," Diego argued. "We have to stop Dad from killing the president."
"Diego, calm down, all right?" Five sighed. "Dad was no Boy Scout, but presidential assassination? It's never been his thing."
"How would you know? You skipped out on his golden years and decided it was a grand idea to get yourself married on top of that," Diego snapped.
Five felt hurt from that. "Skipped out? You think Rina and I had it easy, Diego? We were the only two people left in that forsaken world for 45 years!" He glanced at Karina and then took a breath. "You know what? We don't have the time for this right now." He tried to compose himself again. "Dad's clearly in Dallas, right? Let's just go talk to him. Maybe he can help us fix the timeline." He paced over to Karina's side.
"Dallas is a big place. We need to find him first," Diego pointed out.
"Gee, if only we had some magical, old-timey way of finding people and their addresses," Karina sarcastically shot.
Five dug around and found an address book, dropping it on a coffee table.
"Let's start simple. His name," Five suggested.
Diego began flipping through the pages, hovering over the book. "Hargreeves…Hargreeves…Hargreeves…shit, nothing here."
"Try his company, D.S. Umbrella Manufacturing Co.," Five put out there.
Diego slowly turned to shoot him a glare. "Yeah, I know the name. Thanks." He flipped through the pages and then skimmed down the names. "Uh…holy shit. "D.S. Umbrella. Eighty-two Olive." Let's go." He began to walk away.
Five followed him. Elliott was grunting, muffled as the two strolled past him casually.
"He okay to leave here like that?" Diego questioned.
"Yeah, he's fine."
"What about the girl?"
Five and Diego looked back. Elliott was grunting loudly.
"Shit," Diego went to go find Lila.
Five sighed as he went over to Karina, who was fixing a pot of tea.
"So you and Diego are off to find Sir Reginald?" she asked, adjusting the kettle.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Am I staying or going?"
Five bit his lip. "As much as I'd love to have you with me, I don't fancy the idea of Dad meeting you right now. Or…ever."
"I figured. Besides, no offense, this sounds like something between you all and you all only," Karina returned. "Plus I can keep an eye on Elliot."
"That'll be interesting on your behalf. Besides, you deal with enough drama from the in-laws as it is. Don't want to throw the father-in-law into the mix."
"Thanks for the consideration."
"Only for you," Five then sighed. "I'll be back, I promise."
"I know you will," Karina smiled, blushing when he kissed her cheek.
"Hey, Romeo! Come on, we have a father to hunt down!" Diego shouted to him.
"I'm going to kill him someday," Five growled.
"No you won't. You better go," Karina laughed.
He shook his head and left her to go accompany his annoying brother to go find their screwed up adoptive father.

Darling! I'm curious to know if you've ever considered writing a post-Doomsday reunion fic with Nine and Ten working together to get Rose back? I just read "the other one" and the line:
“Yes. We need to do this carefully. And slowly, pick the dimensions apart from one another while she heals herself. What was that signal about anyway, I don’t remember doing that?”
made the idea stick to my head like glue the instant I read it.
Really really hope this doesn't come across as pushy or me giving unasked for prompts lol mostly just me trying to pick your brain wondering what your thought process is for picking what to write since there's so much variety in your fics (if you'd like to share of course!)
And since I'm in your ask box wondering what your all time favorite Nine episode is? :)
Ok last question haha...how much have you watched past Ten's run? I don't think I've ever seen you post much about Chibnall and Moffat era's before.
MY DARLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The past couple days reading all your reviews have made me cry and laugh and gave me the BEST MORNINGS EVER. I can’t tell you how awesome you are for being so bloody diligent, it makes me feel like I can touch clouds.
I’m definitely not done with Nine and Ten together, but I’m not sure about a post-Doomsday fix it... I can definitely see Nine and Ten talking it through, though. God what angst, you know I love some angst....
honestly, what makes me pick what to do first is if I get a scene idea in my head, or if I can hear the dialogue they’d say. whatever I can really visualise is the one I work full steam ahead for and sometimes that’s easier said than done.
my favourite episode (not just Nine - episode) is Dalek. It’s utterly perfect to me. Before they overused them and made them unscary. it was terrifying and heartbreaking and eccleston SMASHED it. what a fucking episode.
and I don’t like moffat, simple as. I basically dipped out when David/RTD left and have only seen a few episodes of each Doctor since. Matt Smith was good but reads as asexual to me, Capaldi was genius but the stories were meh, and Jodie didn’t have the gravitas I look for. She didn’t scare me, and the Doctor can be terrifying.
tell me your favourite episode!
