Severus hated mistletoe. He stared at it for some time, wondering if the plant deserved the Reducto he so wanted to unleash upon it. Deciding against the waste of magic, he turned to walk away — only to freeze in his steps when the person he’d waited all day to see said, in tones of fond amusement — “Hello, Severus. Look. Mistletoe.”
I drew this for Snolidays Week Two @snapecelebration Prompt: Mistletoe.
Snape unintentionally wound up looking like Keanu Reeves in this one. That’s what I get for doing a 15 minute drawing. Anyway BYEEEE
ID: a drawn bust of Snape. inside his eyes is the reflection of mistletoe. Above him there is mistletoe peaking down from the ceiling. /end ID.

in hogwarts mystery (the hp mobile game) the events of the game take place just before harry goes to school, meaning snape should be in his 20’s, yet the people who made his model made him look old
we could have gotten pretty boy snape 💔

Snape makes me so fucking mad holy fuck, I’m incapable of thinking of him positively. I don’t even like Draco and I think of him 10x more positively than I think of Snape.
What kind of person gets bullied as a child and then grows up and bullies the child of his bully like that makes him way worse than James (btw I love James and I fully believe he matured and grew up and is a good person who deserved more than for Snape to tell a literal Nazi terrorist to kill him and his infant son but to leave his wife alive). Snape had way more power over the kids he taught than James did over him and what did he do with it?
He made fun of their appearance and scared them to the point that he was Neville’s boggart (which when you think about it is so awful because 1, Neville’s parents got tortured into insanity and I’m pretty sure he was there, and his boggart probably should have been Bellatrix or his uncle even, and 2, he did it because Neville was the other possible prophecy child and Snape was upset that Voldie didn’t pick him to kill when HE GAVE HIM THE PROPHECY IN THE FIRST PLACE).
He said shitty things about Harry’s dead parents and orphan-hood, was glaring at Harry literally right off the bat so don’t say it was because he got into trouble a lot, asked him questions he couldn’t possibly know, told Draco to summon a serpent during duelling club??? How irresponsible is that???
Literally lied to the minister just to get Sirius killed, which atp is ridiculous (I think Sirius was dumb as fuck, careless, possibly malicious, to tell snape where to go to find moony, but snape literally already suspected that Remus was a werewolf so idk what the fuck he thought was gonna happen if he found him during the full moon, and calling it a murder attempt is a stretch), like grow up please this man was in Azkaban for 12 years which is a hugely disproportionate punishment for anything he did do to you, and the reason he was there in the first place was literally fraudulent, which he knew and he lied anyway.
And honestly the Legilimancy lessons were fucking joke, who looks through an abused kids memories and makes fun of both the abuse and the few good memories he has?? And then he’s surprised that Harry tried to equal the playing field between them?? Snape had way more power than Harry did, and obviously it wasn’t the best thing to do to a person but yk what I’m not going to judge Harry’s actions, Snape was abusive and the victim isn’t to blame for their reactions to their abuser.
And he threw Harry across the room for seeing his memories?? Abuse. To be honest even seeing the memory about James being a bully felt like JKR trying to make shit up as fast as possible to make Snape seem more redeemable, which apparently worked for some people who think abusing kids is okay as long as you have a tragic backstory and an abusive parent. And it actually makes me really mad that he thought Harry was treated like a prince so decided to treat him like shit so he wouldn’t get any ideas about having self esteem or confidence, then found out that he was abused and then just did nothing and tbh treated him worse. And the lessons themselves were actually painful to Harry?? They definitely made his mind more vulnerable, he had more nightmares.
And let’s not forget that he joined a Nazi group that wanted to exterminate people like his best friend, called his best friend a slur, viewed Lily as an exception to the other muggleborns, and invented sectumsempura for his enemies IN SCHOOL which means the Maurauders.
And it makes me sick that he looked in a room with a crying baby whose parents just got murdered, his mom right in front of him, and a dead woman who was killed by his Nazi leader like directly because of his actions, and then he ignored the baby and went to hug the woman’s dead body. Like if I was Lily, I wouldn’t want him near either my body or my child, but if he was my only option, then he better be fucking taking care of my living son. Like she rejected him his weird obsession for her freaks me tf out.
And I get that without Snape asking for Lily to be spared, Voldemort wouldn’t have asked Lily to stand aside and the blood protection wouldn’t have been activated, but literally once good thing happening because of a tragedy he caused doesn’t make him a good person.
Anyway. Think I got it out of my system for now. Fuck Snape. :)
Edit: Just to be clear, I actually find his character really compelling, even though I dislike him and his actions. And of course I’m not saying no one can like Snape.

Me when I remember that Snape would’ve not only been much happier in life but would have so many less tiring debates about him if he had just remained a loyal Death Eater instead of defecting and sacrificing himself for a world that hated him while getting nothing in return:

honestly people who are insufferable about “the prank” or whatever can eat my entire ass because everyone crucifies sirius for telling snape how to get past the whomping willow but i’ve never seen anybody acknowledge what a fucking idiot snape was for meddling and willingly following somebody he assumed to be a werewolf inside a tight passage under a tree that could murder you during a full moon. what was the little bitch even trying to achieve by following remus? we know from his flashback that he had a hunch about remus being a werewolf, then he was told from a guy he hated and who hated him back the way to get past the tree and actually did what sirius said during a full moon? i’m sorry but that’s just being fucking stupid. i’m like 97% sure sirius did not even expect snape to do what he said because why on earth would he do that and if he had actually died that would have been well deserved because god knows the amount of times harry almost got himself killed by doing dumb things in the books but nothing he ever tried was quite as idiotic as this

It’s on days like today (it’s hot where I am) where I wonder how on earth Snape of all people managed to wear long black woolen robes all year round. He seems like the kind of person who hates the heat.
And yes I know cooling charms are a thing and that his robes may be well lined with silk (or charmed to feel like silk), or even charmed to be weightless. But like…? Is that practical? For it to be wool???
Edit: and obviously he’s in Scotland so wool’s a fair choice. Wool’s also fairly waterproof and doesn’t get smelly easily. I’ve just got questions that’s all.
I mean we never said that Snape was a practical man. He’s only there for the flair and drama. He commits to his aesthetic and that’s worth respecting. But still. Snape. Come on. Just wear a button down and some slacks my guy, you can’t be wearing wool in July bitch what is going on in that twisted mind of yours? You’re crazy, girl.
On that note. Does Snape prefer cold weather or hot weather? Discuss.

Fem Young Severus Snape - Let's discuss
So I'm working on a story on archive of our own where Severus Snape leaves Hogwarts, but it's a fem Snape and it's tagged as Snape/Sirius and James, which I'm still unsure about. I love stories where characters realise their self worth and the toxic people behind and having character growth. Fanfiction or not those stories are the best.
But I'm mostly wondering what people think young female Severus Snape would look and be like, ignoring my fanfic counterpart that I already wrote up. I will be switching between him and her for addressing canon and fanmade Snape.
Now before any Snape supporters or bashers get onto me, I'll just quickly reveal that I haven't read the books and have only watched at least 4 films, but did some research in my mid teens in curiosity. I've always been interested in the characters, their dynamics, and what if scenarios, but never the magic.
There's a lot of fanart where she's given the same hair style as her male counterpart, and honestly I believe her hair would be much longer. Long to the point where it's unusual and makes her look unhinged. Long to the point where it's too easy for someone to pull it. Most of the time using it to cover her face, unsuccessfully hiding herself from the marauders. I can imagine her eyes and face glaring creepily at anyone who disturbs her, with her nose sticking out through it. She would have a really ghostly appearance, and if you count the mudblood incident you would sense the distress, anger and sadness waving off of her. I'm also thinking of this fanart made by @iscawen.
Tumblr media
For an obsessive personality I would take inspiration from Palm Siberia. Palm starts off as creepy but goes off to become someone we sympathise with. Not saying that you have to sympathise with Snape, but I think he's someone to pity at a logical standpoint. I'm also speaking as someone who could relate to certain parts of his character.
Tumblr media
Her obsession with Lily has more to do with being her first and only true friend. I think Snape wants love, but that love needs to come in different forms other than romance. With the whole unpleasant parents thing, and people staying many feet away from her due to her unruly appearance, it's safe to say that Snape latches onto Lily for a reason. She wants to be appreciated, cared for, recognised for something good rather than the bad omen that the people she's stuck with think she is. And she doesn't want to be punished for being a bad omen. I guess the same could be said for canon young Snape.
I don't ship them together, and I cringe whenever I come across a fanfic that does. Not only is it fun to hate Lily, but the whole marrying your former friend's childhood bully even though he's changed is super suspicious.
With the leaving Hogwarts thing Snape would have to realise that Lily isn't the angel that her mind made her out to be, but I don't know if that's while she's at Hogwarts or after she leaves.
By this time Snape gets a makeover, none of that altering physical features stuff. Just giving her healthier hair and skin, I don't think she needs make up but I think something Goth related would suit her. The story is set in the 70s so it was more of a decade filled with punk fashion (not everywhere of course) which would suit Sirius. (Another note that isn't relevant, when the fandom gives Snape makeover stories they always change his nose to be smaller, you'll be some hating ass people). I bet Snape had a thing for formal attire so I think she'd wear something similar to Wednesday Addams. I can definitely picture her with a black pencil skirt and blouse.
Also the 70s where a different time when it comes to beauty standards compared to the ones of today, I genuinely think a lot of guys would be into her even though a lot of people in the fandom love making Snape out to be some hideous creature. I think she would resemble Shelly Duvall or Angelica Hudson.
Note: @iscawen sorry that I didn't use your permission before putting up the art, if you want I can edit this post and remove the picture. I really love it and wanted to use it as a reference as well as inspiration.

From one Tobias apologist to the other, I see a lot of my autistics traits in Severus and I have fun imaging Tobias dealing with the same things my parents had to deal with when I was little in his own loving rough way. I used to tiptoe walk so my parents had to get special shoes for me, obviously because of the time and their financial situation there’s no way Tobias could have afforded taking Severus to physical therapy or getting braces for his feet (and also because to do so was not a normal thing back then) but still he wanted his kid to walk properly so cue little Severus waddling around with his dad’s old work boots tightly wrapped on his feet so they won’t slip out
HELLO can i just say this inspired me to draw a lil thing…

There is one part in DH where Snape reprimands the Black Headmasters portrait for calling Hermione a Mublood...
SO funny that you brought this up because this is EXACTLY the moment that every single Snape Apologist that I had the displeasure of debating with brings up! Literally every one, I swear they all have the passage permanently copied on clipboard to - BAM - paste it for you to "SEE! he doesn't really buy the ideology!!" lmao
lol unsurprising. And look, I can even see the argument that Snape really wasn't into that ideology. I mean, it's clear he hated Muggles because of his father and it's exemplified in his treatment of Petunia too, but I'm not sure that the hatred extended to Muggleborns. It is possible that, like LV, Snape was an opportunist and saw this as a path to power and glory when he already had a proclivity/interest in the dark arts. It was a path that would allow him to leave his past in Cokeworth so he could have the life he considered worthy of his intelligence and skills.
We know he called Muggleborns "Mudblood" on more than one occasion, but did he actually believe in blood purity or was he simply fitting in with his future-DE classmates? If it's the former, his reform is poorly shown in canon; if it's the latter, is that really all that much better, hitching your wagon onto an genocidal ideology in the name of gaining power?

Friendly reminder that the only person in the HP books who acted, suffered and ultimately died, motivated purely by genuine, selfless love for his friends - not for romantic love, not for family, not for the greater good, not because it was the right thing to do, not for revenge - was Sirius Black.
