It took a long time for things to change, even a little bit. Until 2013, being trans was considered a mental illness. Transition was to be used only if other efforts to ‘cure’ this illness had failed by adolescence. In contrast, modern criteria – such as the WHO’s International Classification of Diseases (11th Revision, effective from 2022) and its discussion of gender incongruence, and the DSM-5’s discussion of gender dysphoria – viewed being trans not as a mental illness, but as a normal (if uncommon) segment of the population.

The fact that modern profiles of trans youth differ drastically from past profiles reflects differences in referral patterns: not only are many trans youth now brought into a clinic for transition-care by supportive parents, many of the children in prior samples came in alone; they were generally viewed as gender nonconforming (not following other people’s ideas or stereotypes about how they should look or act based on the female or male sex they were assigned at birth) and may or may not have been trans.

Further, even care for adults often was denied if the adults in question did not wholly conform to stereotypes of their newly affirmed gender. An AusPATH report in 2022 on the history of trans healthcare in Australia details how trans people were denied care; sometimes denial could be as petty as clinicians not finding a client attractive.

And because gender conformity was (and is) more strictly enforced for boys, trans boys may have simply flown under the radar and never been counted at all, leading to the shift in the sex ratio we see today. These earlier referral patterns are also likely a reason why papers from this period claimed that, by adolescence, children often outgrew identifying as trans – a phenomenon called ‘desistance’, considered exceedingly rare today. In what could be seen as a contradiction, some of these same authors found that the intensity of gender dysphoria – the main focus of the modern diagnostic criteria – was the strongest predictor of ‘persistence’.

In short, there is a straightforward explanation why current samples of trans youth don’t resemble past samples: samples from the past were not well-characterised. They were small and inadequate, collected when parents were unsupportive, and the goal was to prevent adult transition if at all possible. Indeed, the same 2020 Dutch paper that described the rise in youth seeking care as ‘exponential’ concluded that this increase was mainly due to adolescents with gender dysphoria being more willing to seek help than they were in the past, with greater family support.

In the last official mention of the Javan rhino population, the ministry said in a press release in September that there were “about” 80 rhinos left, with an average of three births per year. Notably, it didn’t give a death rate. Auriga’s report also highlighted worrying indications that attempted rhino poaching has resumed in Ujung Kulon since 2018, following three decades without reported incidents. It noted the discovery of a snare positioned specifically to catch a large mammal like a rhino or banteng (Bos javanicus), adding that sightings of people carrying firearms and other illegal activities have also been increasing all over the park. Accounts by communities and partner organizations in the Ujung Kulon area have reported seeing poachers entering the coastal park from the sea. Once ranging throughout Southeast Asia, these rhinos have been hunted to near-extinction, with a single population remaining. Since the 2011 death of the last Javan rhino in Vietnam, the critically endangered species now only exists in the Indonesian park at the western tip of Java Island. LOVE AND HATE TYPE

As the name suggests, the feelings of love the Yandere has towards the Darling usually has various degrees of hatred blended in. (note: if the Yandere does not have or never had any love the person they have the intense feelings for, I’ll call them the Object of Obsession rather than the Darling.)

SUBTYPES WITH THEIR VARIANTS

♡I Hate You but I Love You (State of Internal Conflict)

Yandere of this subtype are in a state of internal conflict where “their Love:Hate ratio is 5:5”.

♡I Love how Pitiful You Are

These Yandere love the Darling for being unhappy. They don’t find their Darling attractive when they are happy. The unhappier the Darling is, the more love the yandere feels for them.

♡Beautiful Memories

These Yanderes have a certain stage of their Darling that they loved. This stage is the Yandere’s “beautiful memory” of their Darling. However, the Darling undergoes changes (whether this change is emotional growth, aging, etc) and the Yandere is unable to tolerate the crumbling of the Darling’s “best state”. In the worst-case scenario the Darling could be killed to preserve that beautiful memory.

♡Obsession Born From Hatred

This is one of the rare Yandere, where they hold no love for the Object of Obsession, but obsession exists. This obsession is born from intense hatred would make the Yandere unable to tolerate others taking the target of their obsessive hatred from them. In the case where the Yandere’s ultimate aim is to kill the Object of Obsession, they will be furious if the target commits suicide or is murdered by someone else. (note: tbh I personally don’t consider this one a yandere)

♡I Once Loved You but I Am Vengeful

This Yandere once loved their Darling deeply, but after experiencing a betrayal or something similar, they develop a hatred just as intense as the love they once held.

♡Shadow of Love Found in Hatred

This Yandere does not love the Object of Obsession. The Yandere loves a parent or close ancestor of theirs (that are usually of the same sex). It is more accurate to say the Yandere is fixated on the shadow of their Darling that they see in the Object of Obsession. Hatred gets involved in cases when the Object of Obsession is a child born between the Darling and the Yandere’s love rival, or when the Object of Obsession is the Yandere's, but the Darling has died after giving birth. The resemblance in the Object of Obsession to their Darling is what agonises them.

♡Pursuit of Perfection

This Yandere is unable to love the Darling because of one thing about them, but everything else about them is perfect so the Yandere is unable to hate them. This Yandere is fixated on fixing the bad thing about the Darling.

INTOXICATED TYPE

These Yandere simply have their heads in the clouds while in love. However, because they don’t have a clear purpose like the Possessive type, something seems a bit more obviously off in them compared to others.

SUBTYPES WITH THEIR VARIANTS

♡Self-Sacrificing (Doesn’t Wish to Shackle)

Actionist: Yandere of this variant continuously does acts of self-sacrifice much like an attendant to the Darling, only wishing to devote themselves to the person they love. How aggressive they are to others depends on their personality, but more often than not protecting the Darling is included in their acts of devotion and will kill if necessary.

“Gon the Fox”: Yandere of this type perform acts of devotion much like the Self-Sacrificing Actionist above, but secretly, behind the scenes.

♡Rabid Fan

This Yandere is imagined to be simple-minded and love the Darling so much they’ll do anything. However, they do not see the Darling as a god. They are a “fan” and don’t feel guilty for loving the Darling.

♡Deification and Austerity

While this variant is similar to the Faults Viewed Favourably (Intoxicated) variant of the Delusional type, where they worship their Darling as a god and agree with everything they do or say. However, they see their Dalring as a love interest and not just someone to worship as a god. They tend to punish themselves for falling in love with their “god” and continue to be internally conflicted by their overflowing love for the love interest and self-loathing.

♡Fantasizing

“Princess” Love Interest: They believe the Darling is their fated princess and have a fantasy-prone mind. They completely believe that true love will prevail above all obstacles and that love will never waver.

Self-Proclaimed Prince: This Yandere views themselves as a Prince who waits to confirm the Darling’s love rather than acting out their idea of true love like the “Princess” Love Interest variant does. This Yandere assumes that the Darling reciprocates their feelings, so they become furious if the Darling does anything out of their expectations.

♡Masochist

The Yandere in this case is so intoxicated in love that any aggressiveness from the Darling is met with joy. That is how Masochist is defined here. They do not simply seek pain, but they seek to feel the love from the pain inflicted upon them by the Darling.

♡Love is Blind

Nervous: Yandere of this variant are unable to display their skills as normal when the Darling is around due to either extreme nervousness or excitedness. They are able to display their skills as normal around others, so it is love that throws them into disarray.

Forthright: It is only when around the Darling that this Yandere throws away any sense of embarrassment or self-consciousness. They don’t care about what others think of them so don’t hesitate in doing anything at all. These Yandere are often positioned as comedic relief character.

♡Mixing in Body Fluids

If the Yandere wants the love interest to take in their bodily fluid as an act of offering instead of a sexual fetish, then they fall under this subtype.

♡Directly Linked to Life and Death

The love interest’s existence the yandere’s meaning of life. The yandere is completely dependent on the Darling and if they disappear, the Yandere will choose death.

♡Fetishism

This Yandere devotes their love not to the Darling but to certain parts of them such as their legs or hair. They technically do not love the love interest, so it’s not clear if they can be considered a yandere.

S T A L K E R

Simply described as “the almighty yandere that’s a bit of everything”.

So i've been working on my fantasy world for some time now, and it's been really exciting thinking about and re-imagining what a world completely foreign to patriarchy would look like. My human populations in general have a 3:1 female-male sex ratio, so women make up the majority of all human populations (it is not 50/50).

At the point where I'm opening my story, there is also no imperialism or colonialism (and that's also made developing the languages and economies super fun), but there's something I was discussing with my sister when it came to the population numbers.

In a world where most children will be female, where there is no imperialism (so no grand wars) and no patriarchy, and women have the right to choose their partners (and cultures are largely not heteronormative and nuclear families are rare), I predicted that the population would be much smaller than it has been in the last five centuries in the real world. Because there are no military conquests or colonial projects, that reduces state incentive to force and coerce women into giving birth to more workers, settlers and soldiers. I also predicted that in a very healthy community, where class isn't determined by things like wealth and where there is no stigma in being single or without child, at least half of the women would not choose to procreate (especially in territories with no inheritance systems). Would see no need.

But my sister thinks that more women would choose to procreate simply because of some natural desire that we all innately have to procreate, and the fact that there is little discomfort in the child-rearing process and CHOICE, that more would choose to have offspring rather than it being a 50/50 split.

I argued that pregnancy could itself still be considered a discomfort to many women, and that centering the existential experiences of human females in regard to the invasiveness of pregnancy and procreation would not have any clear preference (the same way most women assume heterosexual women would enjoy PIV sex, when most do not).

I think there are many biological reasons that may compel women to choose or not choose to procreate. Some would want to recreate their genetic code. Others wouldn't care for any of that. Hence the 50/50 or 60/40.

So I thought it would be interesting to hear from radblr what you think about the whole question.

Mrs. Chen (China 2015)

The victim’s entire name was not stated in the news. She was only referred to as Chen (her surname) or Mrs. Chen.

Chen was from Guangdong, China and had already given birth to 3 daughters. Her abusive mother-in-law demanded that she give her a grandson. When an ultrasound revealed that the next baby was a girl, the mother-in-law forced Chen to have an abortion.

The next time Chen was pregnant, an ultrasound once again showed a daughter and Chen was once again forced to have an abortion by her abusive mother-in-law. This continued until 2015, when after another ultrasound Chen was forced to undergo her NINTH sex-discriminatory abortion.

Amazingly, Chen had survived the first 8 abortions even though they had damaged her internally. The walls of her uterus had been severely damaged from the repeated abortions, making the next abortion even more dangerous. Chen was also suffering mentally from the death of her daughters and was noted to have considered suicide.

During the ninth forced abortion, the badly damaged walls of Chen’s uterus finally gave out. She died of internal bleeding along with her daughter.

Chen’s three surviving daughters were left to cope with the loss of their mother and nine sisters as well as the knowledge of what their grandmother had done to their family.

Chen and her daughters were victims of horrific abuse and sexism. Sex-discriminatory abortions are largely responsible for a massively skewed male-female ratio. Abortion has killed millions of girls and women worldwide.

Since we know that Gallifreyans/Time Lords are rather flexible on the question of gender, how do they perceive it? Do their bodies adapt depending on whether a person identifies as a man or a woman (or something else)? Do their X and Y chromosomes also detriment the body's biological sex, same as with humans?

Gallifreyans/Time Lords have some proper flexibility when it comes to gender. They're capable of identifying and presenting as male, female, or other/mixed genders across their regenerations. 🧬 Hormonal Influence and Physical Adaptation

Two primary hormones, akin to human estrogen and testosterone, play a significant role in determining an incarnation's physical appearance and biological makeup. These hormones exist in every Gallifreyan body, creating a spectrum of male and female traits. The ratio between these hormones is influenced by the four factors of regeneration, which comprises genetics, environment, skills, and utter randomness.

The skeletal structure, cardiovascular system, and other physical attributes adapt based on the dominant hormonal influence during regeneration. For instance, a Gallifreyan with a higher concentration of masculine hormones might exhibit broader shoulders and larger hearts. In comparison, one with a higher concentration of feminine hormones might display wider hips and a more robust recovery mechanism from cardiac diseases. There are measurable differences in many aspects of their biology, and you'd be really hard-pressed (including in a human) to find someone who is completely masculine or completely feminine. In Gallifreyans it's quite feasible to have someone who exhibits many physically male traits but can also give birth.

📖 Historical Gender Dynamics

Historically, Gallifreyan society didn't highly regard the female gender, with females making up only about 10% of the population. This skewed ratio reflects past societal norms and biases, emphasising masculine traits and roles within their civilisation. However, like many aspects of Time Lord culture, perspectives on gender have likely changed with time.

💡 Chromosomal Determination

The reproductive compatibility between Gallifreyans and humans suggests the presence of a system akin to X and Y chromosomes in Gallifreyans, which enables successful interspecies reproduction. This system likely provides the genetic framework for determining biological sex, ensuring viability for reproduction while accommodating the Gallifreyans' broad gender fluidity.

People say women are a minority; but in fact, it is men who are the smaller group.

More interestingly, men are not born as a minority – as for every 100 female births there are actually 105 male births.

But this male surplus doesn’t stay for long, as over the course of a life time, the number of men is slowly eroded away until the sex ratio shifts.

Yup, in adulthood there are only 97 American men for every 100 women.

So what happened?

Why do men experience higher mortality rates in every age group, and have an overall death rate 1.4 times higher than women?

Why has a problem, so large it literally alters the tectonics of a nation’s population, been so readily ignored?

Why are men’s higher mortality rates so often waved of with, “well that’s just the way it is!”

Perhaps… men are not the ubiquitously privileged gender you’ll hear described, but the disposable one?

I mean isn’t early death a bit more deserving of advocacy and investigation than women having too few pockets, or Babie’s super cool day out?

Are the solutions to men’s issues more serious and complex than social media coddling, and meagre calls for “talk” and male tears?

Yautja HCs: Relationships, Courting, Mating, Pregnancy and Children

Bit of a long one, these kinda got away from me. I tried to keep these in the right sections but if they seem disorganized I apologize 😭

Relationship

•I think that yautja are not monogamous, as their society is very focused on breeding/producing offspring. However, I do feel that pair bonding/developing affections for one particular partner isn't uncommon, and two yautja will settle down, especially as they get older.

•Because their society is so focused on breeding, I feel same-sex relationships can get quite a variety of reactions. Especially taking into account clan traditions, some being more lenient, and others not so much. I feel that most yautja in same-sex relationships will try to keep it quiet, because depending on the reactions (not caring as long as offspring are made/ if you're a high enough rank and have lots of kids already, to having it be outright looked down upon and risking being ostracized/exiled).

Courting

•Males will do a lot of posturing. Flexing, displays of strength, fighting other males to prove themselves to females.

•I also like the idea of them being somewhat like peacocks and dressing up to catch a potential mates' attention.

•While I feel like males are more active in trying to win mates, as there are more of them in the male:female ratio... I feel like females will also participate as well. Particularly young females pursuing a higher ranked male that's sired strong pups in the past. They will also do the same type of things that males do to gain attention.

•Offering not only trophies, but also small trinkets as courting gifts. The latter for cases where the yautja are closer, such as friends or trying to be life mates.

Mating/Breeding

•Males interested in the same female will fight for the right to her. They then have to fight the female in question, in order to prove themselves. I don't think females interested in the same male will fight one another for him. While I'm sure it can happen, particularly for the younger ones, there are too many males to pick from. And anyway I just think that most yautja women are the embodiment of "girls' girls" and therefore won't be caught dead fighting another woman over a man of all things.

•Mostly in the case of two females interested in the same male, the older more experienced one gets him by default.

•Females are definitely more aggressive and assertive during sex, especially during breeding season. Males go into it expecting to get banged up - and they do.

•"Submissive" males are looked down as a whole, but behind closed doors I absolutely believe that there are males that enjoy being dominated by big females- and that there are females that enjoy it just as much.

•Sex is a very casual thing in yautja society. It definitely happens outside breeding season, depending on an individual's preferences. Some don't see it as necessary outside mating season, others enjoy it too much not to do it.

Pregnancy

•My personal bc is that yautja females are pregnant around the same amount of time as humans. So roughly nine months. Breastfeeding period is also the same, at roughly 6 months. (credits to @partofmycharm for helping me with this part!)

•Most of the women don't let their pregnancy get in the way of their day to day life. Though as their due date approaches, they are definitely more mindful of their activities. No fist fights in the kehrite for sure.

•One of the most dangerous yautja females is a pregnant one. Their mood swings are very extreme, especially as the delivery date gets closer.

•When the time comes, yautja women give birth in a nest they've already had arranged, and are assisted by other females. Males aren't involved at all.

Children

•Females are the primary caretaker of children. Usually a group of them will all raise their offspring together in a community type deal.

•Males aren't involved in childrearing, and unless they are higher ranked yautja (who make more effort to have an impact on how their offspring develop) usually only active in their kids lives once they've reached their late teens, if not later than that.

•Females are very protective of their young, to the point of maiming/killing anything they perceive as a threat to their offspring. This includes the males of their species.

•Females handle the discipline of children. Anyone who disciplines their kids without express permission (even the father) is in for a world of hurt.

Misc

•While all yautja are able to breed after reaching the appropriate age, it's not as simple as that. While they're old enough to be considered, it's just that: considered. Usually the ones most involved in breeding are higher ranked warriors - ie, those who've already produced strong offspring and are therefore most sought after.

•Most clans view mating with anything other than their own as dishonorable. While half-bloods with other species are possible (if unlikely) they are usually viewed as abominations, and the ones who aren't killed and are allowed into the clan usually don't have a very good time of it.

•I feel like there's no way yautja don't know what BDSM is, even if they don't have a name for it. They're freaks, period. 💅

Charmander, Charmeleon, & Charizard

Charmander (#004)

Pygoignus ignusura

General Information: Charmander the Fire Lizard Pokémon. They are famous for their flame tails that mark an individual’s health. In a healthy individual, Charmander’s tail-fire will burn bright and strong even in the rain, while an unhealthy individual will have a small and weak flame. Yes, when a Charmander’s tail-fire goes out, it dies, but understand that the fire is not directly impacted by the environment, rather it is indicative of the Charmander’s internal vitals. The tail-fire can be rained as much as the rain pleases or even be dunked into water and do the Charmander no harm, in fact the fire will cause the water to steam away, but if the Charmander itself is exposed to the elements, its tail-fire will flicker and dim over time. To simplify, the tail-fire is an indication of health and liveliness, not the cause of poor or good health.

Charmanders average at 2 ft (0.6 M) tall and 18.7 pounds (8.5 kg).

Mechanic change: The sex ratio of the Charmander line has been changed from 1:7 to 1:3. Not all of the in-game starters will receive changes to their sex ratios, but some will.

Habitat: Charmanders are found in warm, arid climates of the American Cordillera—this is the mountain chain that extends from Alaska all the way to Chile. They are particularly numerous in the Grand Canyon region of the United States, but can certainly be found elsewhere. There are some smaller, scattered, populations in the northern latitudes, but they do not thrive as much as the populations nearer the equator.

Life Cycles: Charmander eggs are laid as singles or pairs (rarely triplets). They are often born at the start of the summer after being kept warm during the cold season by their parents and whatever warm place their parents were able to find for a nest. There are dedicated Charmander nesting grounds where many Charizards and Charmeleons will arrive at from all over the region, often returning to the nesting ground of their birth. These nesting grounds are found at geological and climate hot spots, such as Yellowstone or desert caves. Charmander eggs that are raised at these specialized sites only need to overwinter there, and will hatch in about 7-8 months, while those that are cared for in colder climates will take 10-15 months, depending on the environment.

The only primary predator of Charmanders are Moltreses. Of course, there are other creatures that will take a stab at a Charmander if given the opportunity, including opportunistic packs of Houndooms or Talonflames, but the rate of predation by these Pokémon is minimal compared to Moltreses. Most predation upon the species occurs at the Charmander stage.

Charmanders often become Charmeleons around 2 years of age. At which point, their parents leave them to return to where they came from.

Behavior: Charmanders are social creatures that will call for others of its kind/pack when they find food. While they certainly have Charizards and Charmeleons around to care for them, its important that Charmanders develop bonds and strong relationships with the other Charmanders in its cohort.

Diet: Charmanders are omnivores who eat fruit and bugs that they can catch.

Conservation: Endangered in the wild. They are threatened by habitat destruction and poaching.

Relationship with Humans: Charmanders and their evolutions are beloved by people. They’re cute little fire lizards who make excellent starter Pokémon and are generally considered safe to be around human children, despite being fire-types. Their sociality as a species makes them great companions, and their strength as they evolve makes them desirable on teams. As with all Pokémon with fire as part of their anatomy, the tail-fires of Charmanders rarely caused accidental harm.

Charmanders are mostly available from Certified Pokémon Breeders, who supply localities with domesticated stock. While they can be found in the wild, they are rare even in their natural habitats, and many states have banned or severely limited the ability for trainers to capture wild Charmanders.

Gameplay Note: Pokedexes are updated with modern catchability laws, and will warn of these laws & record the capture of illegal catches, if not outright stop them. This does not apply to Pokedexes that have been hacked (or built) to prevent this, of course.

Classification: Pygoignus ignusura is the scientific name of Charmander. Both the genus name and the species epithet mean “fire tail.”

Charmeleon (#005)

Pygoignus cepheloceros

General Information: Charmeleons are the evolved form of Charmander.

They average at 3’07 ft (1.1 M) and 41.9 pounds (19 kg).

Habitat: They live in warm, arid environments of the American Cordillera.

Life Cycles: Charmeleons are the awkward middle stage of the Charizard life cycle. They are strong and freshly independent of their parents and capable of reproducing themselves—if anyone will take them. They’ve developed strong bonds with the others in their cohort, and they’re ready to prove themselves to the others. This is the stage where Charmeleons will do a lot of stupid things (much like teenagers and young 20-somethings do in humans) in an effort to stake their identity and learn about the world around them. Because of this, Charmeleons may not be predated upon as much as Charmanders (but Moltreses still like eating them), but they do risk Death By Doing Something Stupid And Reckless. Maybe they picked a fight with a Tyranitar! Maybe they went climbing up the wrong mountain during the wrong season, who knows!

It's hard to say how long Charmeleons live for, but it can certainly take anywhere from a few years to a decade or longer to become a Charizard.

Behavior: Charmeleons are reckless, aggressive, and hot-headed. They love to pick fights with each other and other Pokémon. This is an important developmental stage for them as they grow in strength and learn to be the powerful dragons that they are destined to become one day. Strength is the name of the game amongst Charizards, and Charmeleons must learn to be strong—which involves being an idiot and reckless teenager, first.

In addition to their efforts at learning to be strong and powerful and wise to the world, Charmeleons take it upon themselves to care for the Charmanders at the hatching grounds. While there are certainly some Charmeleons who go off to explore the mountains, there are many who stay at the hatching grounds that they grew up in, since they are unable to fly away with the Charizards. But remember that not all Charmanders were raised at specific hatching grounds, and some blazes are able to raise their Charmanders at home, meaning not all Charmeleons are truly parentless upon evolution. In cases where the blazes, normally ones who have the means to raise eggs in their home territory are then brought up with greater attention from the blaze as a whole, including the passing of specific knowledge and wisdom about the local environment. These Charmeleons are less likely to find mates at this stage in life than their counterparts at the hatching grounds (who may find mates from the other Charmeleons or other Pokémon), but they are also more likely to survive to become a Charizard. Pros and cons.

Diet: Charmeleons are omnivores who eat fruits and whatever small prey they can catch.

Conservation: Endangered

Relationship with Humans: Charmeleons are known for being the Difficult Stage in raising a Charmander, and more than one Charmeleon has been abandoned at this stage in its life because of attitude problems. Domestication has done little to curb those tendencies.

Classification: The species epithet is “cepheloceros” which means “horned head.”

Evolution: Charmeleons evolve from Charmander at level 16.

Charizard (#006)

Pygoignus lacertardere

General Information: Charizard is the final evolution of Charmander and Charmeleon, known as the Flame Pokémon. They are powerful Pokémon, apex predators of the ecosystems that they inhabit.

Charizard has 3 temporary forms: possessing two mega forms (Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y) and a Gigantamax form.

Charizards average at 6’7 feet (2 M) tall even in their mega forms, but are certainly capable of being far larger, especially in the wild. Regular Charizard averages at 235 pounds (106.6 kg), Mega Charizard X is 278 pounds (126.1 kg), and Mega Charizard X is 256 pounds (116.1 kg). Then the Gigantamax form Charizard is over 91’10 ft (28 M) tall with an unknown weight average.

Habitat: Charizards can be found all over the Southern latitudes of the American Cordillera*. They often live in separate blazes from Charmeleons and Charmanders, but not necessarily. Places that are dedicated to Charizard-only blazes are called Charicific Valleys. These places are normally protected by Rangers and often their locations are kept secret by locals and state officials, for conservation reasons. * It is possible that there could be a regional variant of Charizards that are better adapted to the colder climates of Northern Latitudes, in which case there could be Charizard populations covering the entire extent of the American Cordillera, from the Andes of South America to the Aleutians of Alaska.

Life Cycles: Charizards normally reach this stage in at least the fifth year of life, but it can take decades longer. They are known to live upwards into the 100s and 200s, typically only dying from disease, organ failure, starvation, or from each other.

When it’s time to find a mate, male Charizards will compete aggressively and violently for the attentions of the females. In fact, these duals can become lethal and are the primary way that Charizards die: from each other. Strength is not the only determining factor though, and personality (including sociability and tenderness toward Charmanders) is important too, and it varies from each individual what they value more.

Charizards will copulate every several years, varying widely between individuals. Whether they migrate to hatching grounds or stay home to raise their eggs, depends largely on where they live or what blaze they are from. When they do raise Charmanders, they will remain with the babies until they evolve into Charmeleon. The females are the most likely to return to the blazes of their parents when the opportunity presents itself, but in truth blazes are often comprised of unrelated individuals, multiple sets of different cohorts who set out together as fully fledged adults to find blazes to call home. The initiation process can be brutal for newly fledged Charizards, but once a Charizard has been accepted into the blaze, they are a member for life unless extraordinary circumstances should force them to be exiled.

Behavior: Charizards do not have any true hierarchy to their blazes. They are aggressive but loyal to each other, a “we can beat each other up as much as we like, but if outsiders try to fuck with someone they’re going to find out what happens when an entire blaze of Charizards is mad at you.” They are hypersocial creatures at their core, who become depressed and lonely without others in their “pack” and are keen on being helpful to each other. This also makes them ideal companions for trainers, and is why many localities have trained Charizards to fly people around.

Diet: Charizards are omnivores that eat fruit and whatever medium-sized game they can catch. They generally find humans distasteful and too bony.

Conservation: Endangered

Relationship with Humans: Charizards are extremely popular with humanity. They’re cool, they’re big, they’re orange, they’re dragons—wait, no they’re not! Whatever! A dragon is a dragon is a dragon. They’re ferocious but loyal, dangerous but friendly, and they are immensely useful to Pokémon and Emergency Organizations the world over. They’re popular in merchandise, they’re popular in children’s literature—there’s even a Charizard on Tuesdays with Turtwig named Charla who delivers the mail! Charizards are the ultimate cool Pokémon.

They may be endangered in the wild, but their conservation is a high concern to modern humans. Many Charicific Valleys are closely guarded, and the Charmander Hatching Grounds are tightly guarded secrets amongst the Pokémon Rangers it concerns. Unfortunately, their life cycles are not terribly conducive to rapid repopulation from poaching and habitat destruction, but the effort is there.

Classification: The species epithet of Charizard is “lacertardere” which means “blaze lizard.”
