im so sad the guy making the 6+ language minecraft server sucks so bad because that is a perfect study for a linguistic anthropology person like me but knowing the person running it it will be a mess and people will be bummed with it in like 20 seconds

#grace post #like if the goal was to study. how people try to communicate across languages and cannot understand each other. that is a genuinely #very interesting concept. but thats much better studied in a less serious joking environment and not the... lore stuff the guy running it #seems to prefer.#this is also why i find the spanish-english smp where most but not all people are bilingual to be great to study. aurgh

As a commissioner, I love seeing how artists interpret and stylize my characters, but as an artist, I often agonize over if I should try to match the style of the provided reference or lean into my own style.

#flame polls #sometimes people specifically say which style they want which is super helpful #sometimes people don't know which is when i usually stick closer to the reference style. idk if that's for the best tho. like-#im being commissioned because they like how i draw right? so i should draw in the way i usually do? but that doesn't always seem to #be the case idk #i don't wanna bash people for having preferences tho. this isn't meant to be judgemental one way or the other #i was just contemplating how i approach various commissions depending on how the client asks for what they want #and also because im doing some design exploration right now so i'm pushing at certain aspects of my style. makes me think!

while I do like the added dialogue between Sally and Percy in the minotaur scene, namely Sally's speech to Percy telling him to hold fast, I really wish the scene had more of the urgency that it did in the book. Like Grover's heavily injured to the point of incoherency, Sally and Percy literally have to drag him up the hill, and that's when they're overtaken by the minotaur. In the show, having them all come to a grinding standstill and Grover being fully alert like "sorry I know we're being chased by certain death but your mom's human so she can't come :/" was kind of adflksadfjasdf

oh and in the book Percy doesn't immediately pass out. Instead, Percy doesn't let himself until he's hauled Grover over the boundary line and all the way to the big house because he needs help and it's only then does Percy finally collapse. and idk just the imagery of it all -- Percy crying for help, for his mother -- it always stuck with me and I wish they hadn't taken it out.

#listen I know even the book Sally was like /I can't go on the property/#but theoretically Grover could have granted her permission the same way Annabeth does for Tyson in som #Grover was just literally passed out and could not #so having Grover be awake and just be like /yeah that's a bummer huh/ made him seem strangely apathetic to it lmaoo #also I'm not saying the scene was bad!!! my gripes are mostly personal preference #I think the added dialogue with sally and percy was beautiful and could have been woven into a more book accurate portrayal of the scene #sally jackson #pjo adaptation #pjo #percy jackson #grover underwood #mine

zolu is maybe one of the easiest ships i've ever liked. they're dating, except when they're not, they're best friends even when they're kissing and they're still captain and first mate when they aren't. they hold hands, they hug. they have sex. they don't.

Luffy can hold Zoro's katanas and Zoro can hold Luffy's strawhat and no one bats an eye. one says "You're so cool!" and the other says "You're strong" and it's just another way to say "I see you, this is why I follow you/this is why I trust you". it's not seeing each other for a long time and still knowing how the other's steps sound like against wood and sand. the captain runs and the first mate follows. it's always "Zoro and the others" and "Where's Luffy?"

if they're just friends, if they're something more, if they don't have a label for it, at its core, it's just about how they get each other. they understand how the other's mind works. however you view them, it doesn't erase they fact that they love each other in a way they don't love other people.

i really don't think harry being bi is supposed to be subtle or debatable at all. like, the interaction with the smoker on the balcony is hard to miss and pretty essential for the progression of the case. thus experiencing harry's bi awakening is hard to miss and pretty essential. i know there's some skill checks in there, but..... imo, the devs intended for it to be pretty blatant without spelling it out. and that's not even mentioning all of the other moments of harry's attraction to men shining through.
