How about another round of “musical songs Jess Mariano would headbang or moap to”.
You Don’t Know from Next to Normal
Between his dysfunctional relationship with his mom, his even worse relationship with his dad and the consant fighting between him and Luke before season 6, it just feels like Next to Normal is a musical Jess would come across at some point. And if there’s one song in that musical that would speak to the teenager he used to be, it’s You Don’t Know. For example: “When the world that once had color fades to white and gray and black/ When tomorrow terrifies you but you’ll die if you look back/ You don’t know, I know you don’t know”
Why God Why from Miss Saigon
Would Jess roast the musical to bits? Probably. Would he laugh at the level of melodrama? Possibly. But would a drunk Jess know every single word to this song and scream it at a Truncheon karaoke night when he’s blacked out? I think so. For reference: “How can I feel good when nothing’s right?/ Why is she cool when there is no breeze?” and “Why today? I’m all through here/ On my way/ There’s nothing left here that I miss/ Why send me now a night like this?”
Another Hundred People and Sorry-Grateful from Company
I may not think that Jess would be a Sondheim stan (Jess strikes me as more of an appreciator of individual musicals, especially of the old and nostalgic and the underground and experimental), but when a Sondheim song hits, it just hits. Like with Falsettos, I’m not entirely sure if Jess would relate to any specific characters (certainly not Bobby for his giant group of friends), but the songs about loneliness and wanting connection would be especially impactful between seasons 5 and 7. Look to for example: “It's a city of strangers—/ Some come to work, some to play/ A city of strangers—/ Some come to stare, some to stay/ And every day/ Some go away” from Another Hundred People and“ You're always sorry/ You're always grateful/ You're always wondering what might have been/ Then she walks in” from Sorry-Grateful.
Dead Girl Walking (Reprise) from Heathers
Okay so two important things to note here: 1) I don’t think Jess would come by Heather’s: The Musical naturally and would probably be hesitant to it because of the cult status of the original film. If he ever ended up seeing or listening to it, it would most likely be because Doula forced him to. 2) I might be projecting my own values here, but I also don’t think Jess would be rooting JD in this story. Maybe as a joke when he was a teen, but not grown-up Jess. However, that doesn’t change the fact that he would feel uncomfortably seen by certain parts of JD. Especially this description: “I wish your mom had been a little stronger/ I wish she stayed around a little longer/ I wish your dad were good!/ I wish grown-ups understood!/ I wish we’d met before/ They convinced you life is war!”
Make ‘Em Laugh, Moses Supposes and probably more from Singin’ in the Rain
One headcanon I subscribe to (courtesy of @stellaluna33 ) is that Jess has a soft spot for golden age and pre-golden age musicals due to watching them somehow as a kid, and it would honestly be weird if Singin’ in the Rain wasn’t one of them. The quippy comedy songs like Make ‘Em Laugh and Moses Supposes also hit that perfect spot of being silly and upbeat while also highly intelligent and wordy. Jess probably knows all of Moses Supposes just so he can grab a random lyric from it and throw it at whomever he’s verbally sparring with.
Hot Patootie (Bless My Soul), Time Warp and Super Heroes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show
This one doesn’t really have much of a deeper meaning, Jess just strikes me as someone who likes the film and maybe tried out one of those classic screenings once or twice. As a counter culture kind of guy, it just makes sense to me that he’d at least enjoy the bonkers experience that is Rocky Horror. The aforementioned songs are the ones I think he’d be most drawn to, sort of for similar reasons to the Singin’ in the Rain songs.

Speaking of fun and controversial musicals, Jess has probably checked out the musical version of The Producers at some point. And he’s also listened to ‘Til Him one too many times trying not to think about his uncle. For reference: “No one ever ever really knew me/ 'Til him/ Everyone was always out to screw me/ 'Til him/ Never met I man I ever trusted/ Always dealt with shysters in the past/ Now I'm well adjusted/ 'Cause I've got a friend at last”

Single Parent AU
So I was kind of inspired by @musicfeedsmysoul12 headcanon of the Havenfall is for Lover’s MC being a single mother. As I also like that AU I decided to give it a go. I tried to keep it as different as I could to musicfeedsmysoul12‘s which is here.
It’s a bit long so I’m placing them in the Read Below
Mackenzie
The kid is a 9 year old non-binary kid who has a minor seizure condition. Their parents' whereabouts are unknown. They were taken in and adopted by MC. They love MC and her family for taking them in, though sometimes they wonder if they’re a burden for MC.
It is later discovered that their parents are part of Code Black, but abandoned them due to their condition. They have a hard time forgiving them for that.
Mac can sense when they are going to have a seizure. If she’s nearby she’ll make sure they know to lie down. MC is super appreciative of it.
She did this even before MC knew about her being a werewolf
Mac is really nervous at first to date MC because of them. Not because she’s dating someone with a kid, she doesn’t mind that. But because she doesn’t want the kid to think that she’s taking her away from them.
Mac asks JD for advice so she doesn’t misgender them.
Hugely appreciated by them.
Beau makes off handed threats towards the kid. It doesn’t end well.
Not even the Beast is amused by that. And she doesn’t even like the kid.
They and Mackenzie bond over comic books. Mac is so pleased to have another person to geek out on comics with.
Do they cosplay? Hell yeah!!!
While both MC and Mac are good parents, Mac is definitely the stricter one of the two. Though she’s not as good as MC is against the puppy-dog eyes.
Especially when the triplets and them use it against her in the future.
Mac’s parents absolutely love them. They are their first grandchild. Doesn’t matter if they aren’t biologically related. GRANDCHILD.
Annabelle loves the kid and is a protective older sister.
No one messes with them. No. One.
Damien is protective of them too, though he shows it more in a ‘I’m annoyed older brother’ kind of way.
He may act annoyed to have them following him around, especially if Annabelle is nearby, but threaten them and there is one angry werewolf glaring and growling at whoever is dumb enough to do it.
They call her Mom in the middle of the third season. They get the biggest hug from Mac, to the point they don’t think Mac is going to let go anytime soon.
That protectiveness is ten-fold after that. No one gets close to that kid without Mac knowing.
When Grace comes back, she tries to bring them to Code Black, but they vehemently refuse. They’re already where they want to be and are home. They are even more adamant about it when they find out their bio parents are a part of the Code Black.
This does cause a bit of tension because they don’t know what their parents are capable of, and whether or not they’ve unintentionally endangered the entire town. And they’re terrified that MC and Mac will leave them eventually because of their condition.
Mac is quick to reject that idea, and says as far as she’s concerned, they’re part of her family. Her pack. They aren’t going anywhere.
Elmer gets used to seeing them coming into the station while MC is working, bringing dinner for Mac, because their mom worries.
He finds it extremely cute and he usually chats with them if they wind up waiting for Mac
They are super excited when they find out MC is having kids. And they’ll be the best big sibling. Granted they did not take into account the werewolf genes. Seriously, they are the oldest of the siblings and still the shortest. They are not amused.
They are perfectly fine with getting bitten and becoming a werewolf. This is their pack, of course they want to be fully a part of it. They don’t know how the whole medical condition would play into it though, so they’re waiting a little bit and researching.
Diego
The kid is a 10 month old little girl that looks exactly like MC. She’s the result of a one-night stand for MC and the father doesn’t want anything to do with her. He’ll pay child support and that’s about it (and even that is like pulling teeth).
Grace insists she’s the favorite aunt (though MC likes to point out she’s the only aunt).
Diego is her doctor, though she does have a pediatric doctor to go to. His necklace is a favorite thing to latch onto by the curious 10 month old. And she has quite the grip.
She also really likes his sunglasses. It’s only after Diego is revealed to be a vampire to MC that he lets her actually hold onto them. Now they are almost always covered in baby drool.
Diego takes longer to accept being with MC because he worries about endangering MC and her daughter, but the 10 month old is apparently just as stubborn as her mother and really likes Diego and makes her opinions known.
MC found it adorable and hilarious the first time she made him hold her where it wasn’t a check-up. He looked like a deer caught in headlights.
Dada is her first word, directed at Diego. The vampire basically breaks down when she says that.
Because Diego doesn’t need to sleep, he tends to be the one who gets to her first if she wakes up at night.
He sings lullabies to her in Spanish.
Once he finds out (through Victor) that MC has a daughter, Antonio makes it very clear to Victor and the other lackies to stay away from the infant. It’s not like she can protect herself and he wouldn’t go that low to get revenge on Diego.
Grace has a really hard time trusting her niece alone with Diego after she returns. Diego understands it, but it doesn’t make it any less painful.
Her crying for him from Grace’s arms does not make it easier either. MC sneaks her out for some ‘daddy time’ with Diego, something both of them enjoy.
There is a temporary truce when she gets a really bad fever and MC convinces Grace to let Diego check on her. She’s not thrilled, but her love for her niece overrides her distrust of vampires.
Dracula begins to have an interest in the girl when he’s looking for and locates Diego. She looks so much like a woman who had managed to escape his clutches centuries ago.
This terrifies Diego. He debates leaving them to protect MC and her, though he realizes quickly that Dracula will try and take her whether he’s there or not if he decides she’s worth his time.
Dracula makes comments about making her a future bride when she’s older which pisses Diego off and terrifies him.
When they’re on the run from Dracula, they run into her biological father. He makes several choice comments to MC about their daughter, implying that it’s likely the little girl isn’t even his to start off with. Diego gets really, really angry at that.
Dracula uses her as bait against Diego and MC.
She likes Eva a lot. First meeting with Antonio after everything that had happened in season 1-2, she pukes on him.
And Diego laughs about it every chance he remembers.
MC struggles a lot with not drinking her daughter's blood right after she becomes a vampire.
It terrifies her with the very idea of accidentally killing her daughter for her blood. Diego is vigilant and ensures the two aren’t alone together after MC is transformed for a little while.
Playing ‘doctor’ with Diego when she’s a little older, which means Diego has to endure being wrapped up like a mummy with toilet paper. MC finds it adorable.
Spike is rather protective of her and incredibly patient with her for being a hellhound.
They are both adorable together and heart attack inducing when Spike occasionally teleports with her holding onto him.
First time that happened sent both Diego and MC into hysterics.
When she’s older, she says she wants to be a doctor. No, Diego doesn’t cry.
Much...he gets choked up a bit about it.
Diego and MC agree to let her choose when she’s old enough if she wants to be changed into a vampire.
JD
The kid is a spunky 7 year old girl who was adopted by MC. MC and her mother were in a relationship but her mother died in an accident. MC took her in after the grandparents and father stated they didn’t want custody of her. The father was because he had a new family, the grandparents because their daughter died going to pick her up.
She has severe abandonment issues over this.
She hides those issues through sarcasm.
Her favorite color is pink, but she yearns to have a leather jacket like JD. She eventually gets one and it’s her favorite thing ever.
JD gives her the nickname Punky Pink, or PP for short. She does not approve of the abbreviation.
JD tries to keep everything with MC as casual as possible and tries to not be a parent. Because this is MC and she has a kid. And they are not a good parental figure. At all.
That is evident with her coming to the bowling alley after school and the amount of trouble they get both of them in.
She loves their wings. JD HAS WINGS. HOW COOL IS THAT?!
She was very, very disappointed that the books have misrepresented them.
You’re supposed to have a goat head. And cloven hooves.
Who says I don’t have the hooves?
Those boots.
She makes a report about JD for school. Thankfully it was a creative writing project so no one really suspected she was telling the truth.
It did result in a teacher conference however. JD was very amused when they found out through MC.
JD has the paper framed and keeps it in their room.
Her mother’s grandparents are complete jerks to her, and say they wished she had died instead of her mother which just breaks her. And it pisses JD off.
They make sure to let those assholes know what they think of ditching that little girl. Doesn’t even care if they get in trouble with Mac.
After that, they take her on a really long drive on their motorcycle, and they talk about people being jerks, but that doesn’t define her or them. And she has MC that loves her to death and everyone in town who loves her too.
JD is usually just called ‘JD’ by her, though this is usually met with confusion
“We need to call your guardian.”
“Well there’s Mom and JD? Which one do you want?”
“Is JD your other mom or your dad?”
“Yes.”
She doesn’t put up with misgendering bullshit and has gotten into fistfights at school for it. She doesn’t get into trouble with MC for it though and JD is very touched over it.
Hikari and Grace battle on who is the best aunt.
It does not help when Gwen joins in.
The Facestealers wind up being nightmare fuel for the seven year old, and she has to sleep curled up to MC for several days. One day she falls asleep and just clings to JD, who at first tries to get her off of them, but basically relents when she winds up having a death grip on their sleeve. Only time Razi doesn’t get annoyed and scolds JD for not doing work.
Nessie is enraged with the girl and MC getting in the way of her and JD. She attempts to kill her and MC because of her belief that both of them are taking JD from her.
Lucifer takes an interest in her and manages to talk to her once without JD or MC present. She had been out exploring when he found her. JD is not happy when they find out, because Lucifer makes sure they know he was near her and close enough to where he could touch her.
JD almost has a panic attack and gets really angry, scaring her and making her think she’s done something wrong and that they’ll leave because of it. It takes several people to convince her that that’s not the case and that they aren’t angry at her.
JD makes it very clear afterwards to their dad. He’s not allowed near her. Not now, not ever. Do not touch her, do not look at her. There will be hell to pay if he comes near her again.
She panics when JD gives up their freedom for MC. Like she’s curled up in her bedroom, crying.
Rip Van Winkle did not know who he was messing with when she fell under the spell right in front of JD. Pure burning chaos.
Razi
The kid is an eight year old girl who is deaf. She is of Asian descent. MC had been dating her father before he died in an accident when she was six. Her mother had passed away years before, and with no other direct blood relations, MC adopts her so she doesn’t become another statistic in the system. Though she can’t hear, she knows sign language and can read lips. MC and Grace learned how to do it when MC was with her father. The others in HifL learn as well.
JD learns the words that an eight year old probably shouldn’t know. They state it’s good for her to learn the colorful language too. Razi is not amused.
Because she’s deaf, Jonas’s music doesn’t affect her, which is a relief to MC and Razi. Though it does lead to a few panicked moments in later seasons, such as when Baba Yaga makes her appearance.
She ships MC and Razi so hard.
She and JD make bets on who cracks first. JD now owes her several boxes of candy.
She has a personality like Mabel Pines which is both hilarious and tiring for Razi and MC
She gets along with Razi pretty well.
She’s always trying to play matchmaker for MC
She had already been calling MC ‘Mom’ for a little bit prior to the beginning of the whole series, but started calling Razi ‘Dad’ respectfully in Season 3. No. Razi doesn’t cry. He swears he doesn’t cry.
He does. He totally does and JD has photo evidence.
JD offers to babysit her a lot so MC and Razi can have alone time. Usually they say no, but JD figures what Razi and MC don’t know/notice, won’t hurt them. They usually go around town on their motorcycle with her. They make sure she wears a helmet of course. Because safety!
Razi is terrified about Baba Yaga ever going after her. Cue him finding out who Baba Yaga is and how many times she was left alone unknowingly with the child eater.
He does not take it well to say the least.
It is revealed that her mother was a kitsune who fell in love and married a human but was later killed, and she takes after her mother in regard to a long time span. She is unable to transform into a kitsune, she will live much longer than any human, and aging will slow down once she reaches adulthood.
This is a relief to the Nassar family, especially Razi, as they won’t have to see her grow old and die, because it is something that he wouldn’t be able to handle.
Roshni and Rahim love to tease Razi with how protective he is over the girl
Roshni convinces Rahim to put fake press on tattoos on the side of the girl’s face and says she took her first tattoo like a champ just to mess with Razi. Razi nearly has a heart attack.
Roshni and Rahim are the best aunt and uncle.
She is the best big sister to Roxie. Very protective of her and is usually following her around everywhere.
Maybe not as protective as Razi is to the both of them, but dang close.
Vanessa
A two year old bio boy for MC. She had been in a relationship with him, but unfortunately he was killed by a mugging gone bad. He’s a very quiet boy, to the point where people don’t notice him until he makes a sound.
MC is really protective of him.
He is a very curious boy, and tends to wander a lot. He’s also in that phase where he tries to taste everything.
Which has Vanessa panicking because she has way too many things that are deadly that he keeps trying to put in his mouth, Oh God.
And she hasn’t really had to deal with kids, at least that young. At least not in a long time. And now she has to protect this boy and his mom. Stress galore. So she isn’t sure about this relationship
Equally MC isn’t sure about being with a woman who literally hunts mythical creatures and endangering herself and possibly MC and her kid
They do begin to bond by Vanessa introducing him to anime and manga. She keeps it completely age appropriate and he seems to enjoy it.
She pledges to protect him and MC from the Dracula brides.
Eventually she gets the hang of parenting, though she still leaves a lot of it to MC
Antonio
The kid is a ten year old boy who was adopted by MC. His parents were not good people and he was pretty much abandoned by them. He is very protective of MC and Grace and has anxiety with them possibly leaving him.
He promises Grace to look after MC, even though he’s ten and has the strength of a wet noodle.
Antonio did NOT know that MC was a guardian to a kid. Heck the kid was asleep in the back of the truck when Antonio kidnapped MC in the first place.
This complicates things quite a bit. He can’t go through with this. If he couldn’t face Eva if he used MC’s blood to resurrect her, Eva would never forgive him for orphaning a kid.
Igor becomes very interested with the boy initially, not realizing he’s adopted. If Antonio isn’t going to kill MC because he grew a conscience, the boy should be fair game.
Igor’s threat against him lessens once he realizes that the boy is not blood related to MC. Doesn’t mean he’s not below using him as bait against MC and later on Antonio. Antonio is not pleased.
He is sarcastic as hell and doesn’t mind making digs on how old Antonio is, despite the fact Antonio is perfectly aware of how things work in the modern era.
He found some of Antonio’s attempts at making movies. He will not name names or give any hint of his resources. Much to Antonio’s displeasure.
Diego finds this hilarious. So does Eva.
He’s really patient with Eva and doesn’t mind showing her what or how technologies work. Unlike Antonio, she’s been dead for 500 years. Kind of a big technological gap to learn from.
When MC’s blood is poisoned, he offers Antonio his blood in the meantime.
Antonio rejects the offer, even though he appreciates the sentiment.
Antonio is in charge of answering questions about history later on. This is both a good thing, but also a bad thing when the textbooks get something wrong. MC has to remind both of them that ‘my mom’s vampire boyfriend’ is not a resource to use in papers.
“This is completely inaccurate. What research did this ‘author’ use and where did they get it?? It’s total crap.”
“Remind me to not show you any books about the explorers. Especially Cortes.”
“Why?”
“Er...no reason.”
Thankfully word gets around pretty quickly and Frankenstein as well as the Cult of Blood leave him alone for the most part. The Cult of Blood snatches him along with MC, but that is basically to keep her compliant.
He doesn’t like Victor at all. Don’t ask him why, he just doesn’t.
Antonio is protective of the kid, even though they act like mortal enemies in the beginning. It’s like Diego and Antonio, only if Diego was shorter and can’t speak a lick of Spanish.
They run into his parents unintentionally and he sees them before anyone else. He hides the fact he spots them, but wanders away to have a chat. It goes about as well as to be expected.
It results in him getting a smack across the face from a very angry mom and a warning from the dad. MC is not happy when he gets back to them with scratch marks across his face.
It takes MC quite a long time to convince Antonio that he can’t kill them, even if they’ve earned it.
Antonio will say things in Spanish around him just to mess with him. It’s fun until the kid starts learning Spanish. And then he has to explain to MC why she was informed that he called the kid an ass.
He blames Diego, who neither confirms nor denies it
After Igor, Frankenstein, The Master, Cult of Blood, and Benedict he tells Antonio he needs a really good vampire therapist.
He’s only half-joking
He also thinks he might need to start making a will at the rate this is going because he doesn’t know if he’ll make it to age 15.
He says this as a joke, but that absolutely terrifies Antonio.
Antonio pretty much plans for the kid to become a vampire when he’s a little older.

Sebastian goes to Law School
So before I go into this headcanon about Sebastian’s future, there will eventually be a second one of these, the reason is because I am too indecisive for my own good and have one tract of Sebastian’s life where he goes to law school at Harvard, and a second where he goes to Julliard for college.
So Sebastian graduates from Dalton with scholarships both for academics and lacrosse that ultimately allow him to have a full ride to Harvard for Undergrad. He goes with Nick, and they room together, Nick has a soccer scholarship.
Sebastian is pretty much the same that he was at Dalton, though quite a bit more open. He joins a fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, and works his way up to president there. He also gets heavily involved in the music department and joins the Acapella choir. He’s an involved guy. He is elected Vice President of the Student Body as a senior, and things are all going good.
He applies for law schools all over, he got a perfect score on the LSAT, there is nothing going against him. He has perfect grades, he was involved, and managed to not have any scandals, including ones that his fraternity could have been involved in. Lets just say he’s proud ATO did not partake in hazing that ended up closing a different fraternity on campus.
Sebastian gets accepted to Harvard Law, among a few other choices. And to put it simply Law School is pretty easy for him. He is part of the Student Bar Association early on as a 1L representative, is secretary his 2L year, and becomes President his 3L year. Additionally, he gets involved in the Board of Advocates, where he really shines, as he is an amazing advocate. He focuses mainly on Mock Trial, as that is where he can act, but the on campus Moot Court Competitions are ones that people either want to be his partner or are afraid to go up against him. He has many wins under his belt, and many best speaker and best advocate awards as well as many others. His 2L year, after being a BOA 1L representative, he becomes a Vice Chair in charge of on campus competitions, as a 3L he was given the position of Chair.
Luckily his 3L year is a bit of a breeze, as he is an editor for one of the Journals, after getting on a journal as a 2L. He is involved in quite a few other things like Intramurals, as well as the Crim Law Society. His 3L year really ends with a bang as he is named into Order of the Baristers which only ten people from the BOA can get in, and he is given Order of the Coif which is for the top 10% of students at the school. He got nearly perfect grades, only missing the Valedictorian spot by an inch, he still gets to speak at graduation though as that is an honor of the SBA President. He was set, he even had a job lined up at his dad’s firm, not that he wanted it, he rather be a criminal attorney.
The summer starts and he delves into studying for the Bar Exam. He has a JD but that is useless without the actual license to practice law. He studies for three months, taking the exam at the end of July. he then has to wait another three to four months for results. He finds out he didn’t pass and he is devastated. He tells the Warblers ( yes including Blaine ) as they have been his biggest support system, and that’s about it. He didn’t tell his dad, his dad found out when the list was posted and didn’t see his son’s name on the list.
Sebastian is beyond embarrassed, and his dad is disappointed, and says they can’t keep the spot open for him. Which just adds to Sebastian feeling like shit. He should have passed, he only failed by a few points, but he still failed. He was absolutely crushed, and wasn’t really sure if he even wanted to retake the bar, because there were always moments where he wondered if he even wanted to be a lawyer at all, it was his dad’s dream.
So after a few weeks, Sebastian applies to retake the bar exam, his dad and him have talked, and it was awkward, and Sebastian will have a spot if he wants it if he passes, but he can’t keep that if he fails a second time. So the process begins again and Sebastian is incredibly stressed and worried. He is at wits end most days. This time though he passes. However, he turns down his dad’s offer, and he gets a job at the DA’s office.
After a few years though he stops, and works on a different license, a teaching license as he wants to be a drama teacher. Because he realized what he loved about law, and the court room was the acting the performance of it. He wants to get back to his roots. He does not let his license go out of date though, he takes CLEs and stays up to date on the law. Now he is the lawyer his friends call if they need someone, usually to help kids with traffic tickets and such.
Way down the line, his dad is made managing partner of the large firm, and the Smythe name is added to firm name. Sebastian rejoins the firm then, after a very long chat with his dad and agrees that when his dad retires, he’ll take his position at the firm, including the part ownership. His pretty hands off, only really doing anything if and when cases actually reach the courts. He partakes in children’s theater as a director on the regular though, still can’t get that acting bug out of him.

A/N: these are headcanons/drabbles i plan on writing and i remember telling y'all i'd post this list/outline at some point. i was gonna wait till i wrote them all so you could see before/after but ...i need to be held accountable to write them because im a lazy bastard. so -

two. sidney x m!reader x tatum / headcanon set. general relationship things. maybe college based? tatum and sidney go away for college and date and there they meet you. a new ghostface strikes. this time it isn’t the boyfriend?? both maybe think it is for a second and you’re hurt but get it(tm). the bad ass trio that dont stop. you just come in swinging on bitches my man. nobodfy hurts your griflriends and gets away with it! we stan!

three. jd x black!reader / you meet when he moves to your city miami, florida. y’all first meet at a 7/11 close to your school. he makes a commentary about you mixing your slushies flavors. “a purist, eh?”, you shoot back laughing, "life’s too short to not get wild.” he thinks you make an excellent point. you see each other again at school. “well if it isn’t little miss. mixer.” he smirks. “purist.” you answer back smiling. “haven’t seen you around before”. his smile gains an edge to it, it hadn’t before “i’m new. i’m always the new kid.” you don’t like the look on his face so you loop your arm through his, “well new kid what’s your next class. wouldn’t want you getting lost.” jd: “won’t you be late to your own? you seem like the type of girl who hates being late.” you: “maybe you need to get to know me before you decide you know what kind of girl i am.” jd: “yeah .... maybe”. it’s just you and your mom, the opposite of jd and you love each other to death. she adopts him quickly. jd becomes part of your family. spends more time at your place than his.
his dad says he’s leaving. jd turns eighteen in three months. you tell him don’t leave. your mom is a wildcard and literally goes to jd’s house wiht you two following behind her like little ducks. she says “your son wants to stay here and settle. graduate from one highschool he manages to attned for more than a wek. leave him with me i’ll take good care of him.” y’all are best friends and get closer everyday. the night he turns eighteen you make him a cake and put it down in front of him. jd: this feels kinda sixteen candles-y. reader: blow out your damn candles and make a wish jd. jd: why would i need to make a wish when everything i want i already got. he smiles at you softly and you want to melt. the candle is also melting. you pick up the cupcake and hold it up to him to blow. reader: make a wish anyway. he does, leans in and for a moment the candles flame flcikers over the shadows of his face in the prettiest way. then he blows softly and the flame goes out. the only light in the room form the moon now. you fall asleep curled up on the window/bay window seat together. you wake up in his arms.
jd talks about his plans now over breakfast and your mother smacks his hand gently when he mentions maybe finding a new place to live. “that’s not how family works, jason. annd you’re family. don’t you forget that. no boy of mine is gonna be running off to live alone when he’s not ready. you stay here with us until you get sick of us. don’t go running off just cause you think you have to. we love you here.”
he looks suspicously teary eyed and can only manage to clear his throat and give her a stiff nod, “gotcha mrs. L/N”. your mother is just as good at speaking jd as you are now and knows what he wants to say is “thank you” and “i love you”. she gets up to kiss the side of his forehead and you get up and kiss his cheek. he holds the both of you close to him and it quickly becomes a group hug. / COMPLETE

four. hannibal x black fem!reader / you’re a young, clever black doctor and hannibal is utterly intrigued by you. he knows a diamodn in the rough when he sees one. eat racists? flourish.

five. norman x black f!reader / realistic in that there’s some discussions of racism. but not all that much considering the time period the movie actually takes place in. not heavy enough to trigger anyone. you roll into the bates motel after you get attacked. you’d gotten your tires slahses by a couple of smallheaded racists. you need a place to stay until your car is fixed. you’re hoping you can stay there but you’ve been turned away by three other places who don’t serve your type of people. you’re in near tears by the time you get to the bates motel. he stops dead in his tracks when he sees you. you’re the prettiest woman he’s ever seen. you walk up to the desk and youre voice shakes a little when you ask him if he has room. the vancay sign is on but you know that doesnt mean a damn thing. he doesnt answer that question at first because you look so tired and sad. asks you whats wrong. you start crying softly and tell him the day you;’ve been having. norman is surpringly bold when he puts a hand over yours and tells you that of course there’s room. you stay for a few days getting close. you even stay a day longer than you need to, car fixed but norman insisting you stay another night on the house because “oh don’t drive so late. rest until morning” then morning comes and you “can’t leave without a nice, hearty breakfast”. you both keep making small excuses to delay your departue. but you know you’ll have ot go eventually.
when you do finally leave you thin you havent been imaging the way he looks at you. you lean up and kiss the corner of his lips. when you pulls back you both smile sadly at each other. two months goes by and he hasnt stopped thinking of you since. you’d been in his life less than a week bu the think s he’ll remeber yuou foreer somehow. he’s at the front desk when you walk in, a suitcase in hand and a sheepish smile on your face. “do you have room?” you say somehow managing to be coy and nervous at the same time. norman is so overhwelmed he runs from behind the desk and kisses you. pulls back so quickly as if you’d burned him with your lips. he can’t pull awau too far, you’d already thrown your ams around his neck to keep him close. “i’m sorry that was awfully forward of me y/n” ... you smile, put a hand to his cheek “i must confess that i’ve done something even more forward.” .... “you have?” ... “yes. you see i have all my things packed in the back of my little car outside and i was hoping that maybe you had room in your heart for me along with ...maybe needing some extra help at the inn for awhile.” this time he kisses you and doesn’t stop himself for a long while. when he does pull away it’s to touch his forehead with yours. he looks like he’s expericing peace for the first time in his life, “my home is your home.” he barely stops himself from saying your his home. / COMPLETE

eleven. horror writer continuation part two. billy x fem!reader x stu and you are all becoming friends? sometimes you just go over to their house to write and chill? they know how famous you are now (obvi) and like to be nosy about what you’re writing. they actually read your books so i guess they CAN read after all (billy read them to stu...stu did not lay eyes upon written word). sometimes you ask them questions like “how long do you think it’d take someone to bleed out if they got stbbaed in (very particular way)” and the boys answer in 0.2 seconds. tomfoolery. find out their killers now or later? i don’t know. more ideas to come hopefully

I didn't mean it!!
BUT... that Sammy/Wally thing that I wrote out of the blue miiiight turn into a real AU...
SO, here's a list of a few headcanons/prompts that I've thought so far ^3^u
Wally's a multitasker, meaning he is really proactive, going from place to place, retaining any favor they ask him and complying almost all of them.
Also, he picks quickly anything anyone says and even if was just something he heard while passing by, he's able to match the pieces. Maybe Norman sees all, but Wally hears all. The best to catch up with the last gossips~
But with so many things on mind and at hands, gets to be pretty distracted and for anyone so used to have always something with you that hardly notice if you carry it or not (c'mon, guys with glasses!), well, that's the thing with his keys~
Regardless, he's really good at picking on what people like, always remembering someone's favourite cookie, coffee preferences or anyone's birthday. A real detailist ^^!
But unlike Wally, Sammy is a "One-course-mind", it means that he focuses in only 1 task at the time, being even capable of get hyperfixated in it. An elephant could be dancing tap outside his office and he wouldn't notice. That's why he's so good at song-writing.
When in this state as he's composing songs, you may find him sining out loud the melodies so he gets a better idea of where he's getting. Well trained earing, although he doesn't like to sing in public or being seen even while he's humming.
This also means reproducing weird sounds as an attempt to imitate drums or trumpets. Do anyone knows if those sound-proof glasses already existed by the time?? ^^u
At least at the very same time, thanks to this hyperfixation thing he's also too oblivious, not even noticing the time of the day or biological needs. Usually found collapsed in his own desk thanks to it.
Luckily now with Wally, he Is able to notice if he should go to eat or if it's time to go home or anything else. But before that, he could be found with a blanket covering him or even awakening in the break room couch when no one's there. (Who would have carried him all that path? Is a mystery~)
I'd like to think that Norman's the only one that really knows. Why? Let's say that he cornered Wally once... But, defense of the minorities in hard times~ Norman actually helped Wally. The Seer and the Listener working together, could be a dangerous team if I'd like to.
I see Sammy more like a plain asexual. "Married with his profession", people would say. But the truth would be that he's simply not into that. Was a hard quest for Wally.
Although, he would be tagged as a 'hopeless romantic', just because when he's begrudgingly towed into that kind of talks, he says what he would do in certain situations just because that's what he would like to receive and to be treated.
Wally does those things to try and win his heart, not like he notices...
With the date thing that I wrote, what Sammy felt was indeed jealousness. But as an ace (or more like I do feel in such situations) he just steps aside, also thinking that maybe could be in part his fault as not being there there for/with Wally (physical contact not being his main idea on a relationship), that he's too boring as a couple and if Wally wanted to experiment, well...
Now, a bit of Wally's backstory that I thought. But I must warn you, this WON'T be nice...
Youngest of 4, having only sisters. He basically was their living-baby-doll since little. Not like this affected him in any way, but with older sisters that's a bit inevitable ^^u
He found himself gay at a really short age.
Used to go to an only-boys school. Didn't help in the matter.
Many of them promoted the trafic of pornografic magazines and this being seen as an example of virility. Wally felt disgusted in way too many levels. The respect to his sisters was a very good reason AND excuse for a long time.
He had 1 friend who was also gay. They supported each other and, well, first love.
They used to have this little hideout that also had a real address. Whenever one was away for some reason, they would send letters there so the other would receive them with no one suspecting.
His boyfriend's dad found them. And exposed them.
...let's not talk about punishment...
Menace from his father was clear: either he changed or he'd make him change.
He ran away from home at 16 YO.
He never saw his friend again.
He stayed for a while in that hideout of them, but not a single letter appeared in that time.
When he moved from town to town, he made his best with lousy jobs to gain a few pennies.
That way he spent most of his time for almost 5 years, homeless and doing his best to survive day by day.
20 YO and was contracted in JDS. Still homeless, but made his best to not dissapoint anyone and earn their trust.
When Joey gave him the keys of the studio (claiming it would be easier than waiting for him to leave after cleaning it all), he saw his chance: at everyone else's sight, he was the first on arrive and the last on leaving. But the reallity was that he made himself a space there, finally having a roof to sleep under safely. Not like anyone noticed (except Norman).
Although he's currently with Sammy, he still writes letters to that hideout on dates that were a celebration/conmemoration for them, like birthdays, anniversaries and the likes. Although he probably'll never receive an answer.
And I said this was just 1 friggin' ficlette. 1!!!
Well, I can't help it, do I?
Although, I still have no name for this AU. And can't think of anything that doesn't sound simply dumb. Until then, it'll be tagged under the 'Sammy/Wally AU'.

Oooh, that ‘Send Me a Character’ thing looks very fun. I may have to send a few more after these later, when I’ve had more time to think of some good ones for you, but for now I’ll do Butchy (TBM), JD (Heathers), Mal (Descendants) and Captain America (Marvel-duh lol). Enjoy!

Butchy
First impression: Well, when TBM 1 came out, I was only 13, but anyway, I thought he was hilarious and a lot like my older brother/cousins. The way he tries to protect Lela from the surfers and everything about him made me smile. Loved him from the start!
Impression now: Now that I’ve watched both movies so many times, I’ve realized that he was such a well made character for the movie! Once again, I would’ve loved if they had made Wet Side Story a full length movie just so I could see more of his personality and the full story behind the rivalry!
Favorite moment: Either the “Lighthouses/water makes me a little bit nervous” moments, or the scene in TBM2 when they visit Lela in our world and he asks Lela if she misses him. Something about that scene in our world makes me feel something fierce! Just seeing that twinge of worry in his eyes that show what he must’ve felt; that his baby sister was ready to leave his life forever and didn’t seem like she’d miss him if she did stay.
Idea for a story: I have one that I would love to read/write! I would love to see a story, whether short or not, about what caused the rift between the bikers and surfers or what the characters backgrounds were.
Unpopular opinion: idk if it’s unpopular or not If there was a Butchy movie, I would watch the heck out of it, even if it was just him doing everyday things with the rest of The Rodents crew.
Favorite relationship: (siblings duh) Butchy and Lela, Butchy and Giggles, and (platonically) Butchy and Lugnut
Favorite Headcanon: I think that, although Butchy may act like a bit of a brick wall intellectually, but he’s actually very smart internally. He’s either repressing it, or doesn’t think it matters to everyone else, so he doesn’t show it. His leadership of the Rodents and the way he seemed to think things through a bit more in TBM2 has led me to that conclusion, I guess.
JD (Heathers)
First impression: (after listening to Meant to Be Yours once) Psychopath.
Impression now: I feel like he went a bit overboard with his devotion to Veronica. Then, with wanting to blow up the school and everything, I’m not sure what I think. My instincts are telling me he’s a bit schizophrenic or bipolar even though the only knowledge I have on those subjects is my friend Alexia who’s bipolar. I’m definitely looking into his character more as I go, but as of right now, that’s my opinion so far.
Favorite moment: (from the movie)
Idea for a story: I would love to see his point of view through everything that happens during the movie/musical.
Unpopular opinion: (this seems unpopular now that I’ve scrolled through tumblr enough) I would’ve tried to be a friend to him, but never would’ve gone out with him. He seemed alright in the beginning, but his destructive personality deterred me quickly.
Favorite relationship: As much as his relationship with Veronica was great, I’d like to see a friendship with Heather C. for some reason. The school probably would’ve blown up if they had gotten in a relationship 😂 , but as a friendship, idk, but I’d like to see it for some reason.
Favorite headcanon: Not sure if this is a solid headcanon or not, but I’d like to think that he and Heather M. were friends at some point before The Heathers took over the school.
Mal (Descendants)
First impression: A lot like Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter) in the aspect that they both want their parent’s approval. Someone I’d try to befriend I’m a Hufflepuff for a reason, even though I’d probably be pushed aside and end up as a friend of Evie’s.
Impression now: Still think she’s like Draco a bit, but also she’s just trying to earn her mother’s respect and be treated as an equal, not a kid.
Favorite moment:
Idea for a story: Well, the books touched on a bit more than we see in the movies, but I guess I’d like to see what being raised on the island is really, truly like. Like, all we get is them being all rough and tough, what happened to all of the kids to make them toughen up so early on and what happened to the kids who just wanted to be good from the get go.
Unpopular opinion: I, honestly, didn’t like Mal and Ben’s relationship in the second movie as much as I liked it in the first one. I still ship them, but the whole part where she went to the Isle and he chased her kinda made me think a bit. Like, my parents always taught me that if you or your partner/friend feel a situation/argument needs to breath so you can think things over and gather yourself a bit, you should repect that. If Mal wants to go to the Isle to think, let her go for a little while, maybe a day or two, before you follow her. Idk, it’s probably just me!
Favorite relationship: I love the sisterly bond between her and Evie. Honestly, my first time watching the first movie (before I had read the books too), I had kinda hoped she would end up with Jay bc I thought Jay was cute (loved him as Seth Clearwater in Twilight).
Favorite headcanon: Mal is Hades’ daughter. I’ve thought that from the beginning and I love that other people think it too! I can’t wait to watch D3 to see what their relationship actually is.
Captain America
First Impression: FREAKING LOVE HIM! A lot like my dad in the whole military/take care of others before taking care of yourself aspect. I love the Star-Spangled Man With A Plan!
Impression now: I just saw Endgame. If you haven’t seen it/don’t want spoilers for it, skip this part and the accompanying gifs, please. I love that he finally got his dance with Peggy, however, he spent 3 movies saving/trying to help Bucky and he just abandons him in the present?! What. The. Actual. FUCK?! And another thing! He doesn’t age like we do bc of the serum and his 70 years in the ice! Like, his aging is prolonged and the whole “Old Steve” thing is freaking BS if you take that into consideration! I just need to understand what the Russo’s were thinking and why they killed me all through that entire movie.

Favorite moment:
Idea for a story: I have a ton! I’m actually going to start posting stories/“x reader” stories again on my Avengers page @chickadee-avenger-imagines I have some x reader stories already on that page, but I have a ton in my draft folder. My biggest one is a huge Endgame spoiler, but it’s basically a Fix-it for what I wanted to change in Endgame! I will be posting my Mavel stories on my Archive of Our Own page that also goes by DianaDirectioner if you want updates on my stories there as well!
Unpopular opinion: Steve should never have tried going out with Sharon Carter. I get it, he wants someone to be in a relationship, however, no- just no. If I put myself in either one of their places, I’d have never so much as entertained that relationship in the first place! It just seems kinda gross to me. Sharon was pretty much dating her aunt’s old boyfriend. I don’t think I’d be comfortable with that. Ever!
Favorite relationship: (platonic) Steve and Sam, Steve and Tony, Steve and Peter Parker. Obviously Bucky. (Possibly romantic) Bucky or Peggy, it depends.
Favorite Headcanon: Steve never tries that crap in Endgame. Another favorite of mine is that Bucky never falls/he falls and Steve goes searching for him bc it’s his boyfriend best friend and he needs to see the proof that Bucky’s gone before he can accept Bucky’s death. Then he goes hunting down Hydra for him! Just 😍😍😍

Hello once again. That sphinx writing was just top tier amazing. I have another if you don't mind of course. This one's a bit different though. I'm think Vandal savage immortal type. Like Mcs been alive for a very long time do to some mystic event or something but she's not you know trying to take over the world. Shes just like really crazy intelligent and really badass i guess, knowing like a couple dozen languages and easily how to fight supernaturals. But thats all up to you of course.

General Headcanons
-MC knew the place was a Haven (ha) for supernatural people. MC purposely picked Havenfall because of it so she knew that there was a large number of supernatural people. She knew from like the get-go.
-MC was rich, but ran into Code Black a while back and lost like most of it because they were convinced it was illegal money. She proved it wasn’t, but she didn’t bother getting all of the money back because she figured it was a pain in her ass. However, Code Black is now very wary of MC and do her favours so she doesn’t cause to much trouble about it.
-MC adopted Grace here, so she’s actually more of her mother than like her sister. They just called each other sister because MC doesn’t age. As well, Grace is part of her family and is like her something-something great grandkid.
-MC is Scandinavian and was a legit Viking. She still has Viking tendencies and likes to drink. She has no idea her original country and just grunts when asked because c’mon man, she was busy doing shit back then. Like she knows.
-They moved to Havenfall after they lost the money to an old house MC owned.
-Immortality was because of some trinket she picked up that was the artifact of a God or something. She has no clue- she just stopped aging.
JD
-JD kinda knew about it a little. I mean- MC swears a lot in random languages and some of those JD only knows cause their dad speaks them. So they knew something was up.
-Grace going missing because of Rip had MC going nuts and just ranting in Norse and just ripping into the Face Stealers with her skills. JD just kind of hovered and watched.
-”Okay, I knew something was up, but an Immortal Viking?!” “Hey, what’s wrong with being a Viking?”
-JD and MC like to chat about languages and swear words and taveling the world. MC has a lot of old knowledge about places and she really gets confused about new names so JD finds it hilarious.
-Their relationship is more built on mutual understanding of a shitty situation brought on by their powers and how they never asked for them and it’s hard to deal with.
-MC can pick up JD and bench press them. They find it really hot.
-MC knows Nessie and Nessie hates her. They refuse to say why.
Razi
-Razi only knew because JD let something slip about MC being odd. Razi started paying attention and oh yeah- odd.
-Jonas should not piss off a couple thousands year old Viking. You get punched, kicked and… yeah.
-Razi and MC get along great with their love of knowledge. As well, given how old MC is, the leylines really hold onto her better and don’t need to draw on the Nassar family.
-Baba Yaga is wary of MC because MC has and will beat the crap out of any witch she crosses. Witches know about MC.
-Rahim actually knows MC because of a situation regaurding his shop and a very annoyed Fae a few years back. MC stepped in, and Rahim was the one to tell her about Havenfall so he’s not surprised to know she’s there. The fact she’s dating his brother?! Weird.
-Razi likes to try and recreate some old foods of MC’s even though she says some of them were gross in hindsight, she misses some of the sweets. MC appreciates it.
Mac
-Viking and werewolf wrestling!! Both are thrilled by this. Also, they work out a lot together- before the reveal they often jogged together.
-Mac didn’t know but she isn’t to upset. Secrets are secrets and all that. She does like hearing history from MC though.
-Code Black doesn’t pull as much crap with Mac here because well… MC can ruin them and they already fucked up by forcing Grace to join them. So… Beau finds himself arrested quickly when he presses to much.
-MC and Mac are very cuddly and happy and they like showing off for one another and hunting. Annabelle makes a lot of faces.
-The Beast knows MC because they’re both old. So actually the Beast respects her, MC respects the Beast and thus the Beast leaves them alone. Because they both know they probably would kill each other.
-Comic Con is sillier when MC ends up getting an axe and remarks it looks like her old one. And MC knows Medusa. (May or may not have been a fling)
Diego
-MC is older then Diego and has had similar experiences as he has. As such they’re a lot closer off the bat.
-Diego and MC often bicker about languages and laws and tend to argue over time periods. It’s kind of annoying for others to watch cause it always ends in kissing.
-Grace going missing means very angry Viking going after vampires. Diego only lives because he managed to dodge while explaining.
-MC is very amused by Diego and his attempts to cook and explains that she is a viking and has eaten a lot worse than the eggs he made when he figured out spices make things taste better.
-MC loves Diego very much and when Dracula attacks him, she snaps and really goes to town. Dracula does fight her off but damn it’s close.
-Diego turning human is terrifying for MC because she’s like him. She doesn’t want to live forever alone.
Antonio
-Her magical immortality is how he can revive his sister. Also why Frankenstein is after her- though like she’s been fighting him off for years.
-Antonio has to put up with Grumpy Viking who has no qualms destroying shit. He is mildly amused. Victor is not. Lillianne is.
-MC and Antonio get along better in second season but that’s cause Antonio stopped trying to bring back his sister with MC as he realized it was wrong and not because kiss. They only kiss in second season.
-MC kind of views the kidnapping a little like a marriage kidnapping though she doesn’t say so. She does like him now though so whatever.
-MC and Antonio share similar morals so both of them just casually talk about murder and shit together. It’s disturbing to people.
-MC is very hardy so she’s shocked she got hurt so bad by Frankenstein. It’s really strange.
Vanessa
-It’s MC who nearly married Dracula but chose not to cause like she decided she did not want to be married to him in the end. He isn’t happy about it and MC was so thrilled he died.
-Oh, hell it’s her. Is MC’s only thought about dealing with the Bride and then oh, crap- she’s stronger then normal.
-The Helsing Organization knows about MC but didn’t know about her being able to bring back Dracula so Vanessa is assigned actually to keep an eye on her and not to protect her. The romance is a little more touchy.
-MC and Vanessa bond over shiny weapons and fighting skills. Both also love anime and stuff so it’s adorable.
-Vanessa is a little worried about beign with MC cause MC is immortal and won’t die, and she worries about MC after she dies. She knows MC has had lovers and even families before but like… she wonders.
-MC may or may not be secretly wondering how to turn Vanessa immortal cause she’s tired of her loved ones dying.

Hey, so I’ve a few, namely, three uncles who are alcoholics.
Ones more of a maudlin drunk, sticks to my grandmothers wine celler, wakes up at six to do farm work. He’s the nicest sweetest shyest kind of man you’ll ever meet with one utter bitch of a wife, but he’s never raised his voice or a hand to anyone, even angry and drunk out of his mind.
My other uncle, well, technically speaking, my godfather is a damn successful investment banker. Growing up he was fun and happy and amazing and now all he seeks to do is tear down everyone around him emotionally. Still working, still successful, even dabbled in real estate but turned into a bitter hateful little man. In the past ten or so years he and my godmother had moved house thrice because she called the cops on him. Never laid a hand on her or his daughters but he’d yell and scream and throw things around causing disturbances. His family’s given up on trying get him to sober up because he’s just that much nicer when he’s drunk himself into a stupor.
My third uncle was my favourite growing up. He’s hilarious, always has the best jokes, and is an incredibly hard worker. Built himself up from nearly nothing and can build and fix just about everything, including my guitar when it fell out of it’s case and cracked on the pavement. He ended up making a bad investment and lost a lot of money. He’s a hell of a lot more cynical these days even if he keeps up his clown-ish persona. He’ll yell at my aunt and try to undermine her at every turn. Never turned violent on anyone but himself. He recently had a cast on his arm after punching a wall drunk off his ass.
All three of them are highly functional. My godfathers been drinking on the job for /years/ and hasn’t been caught. He carries around two mickeys in his briefcase and his trusty flask in his suit pocket. And yet…
Point is. Alcoholism affects everyone differently.

People who grow up around them know their limits because they know the warning signs, they know the habits, and they know if and when they’re in a ‘safe’ zone.
Stiles would know just how much is 'safe’ for his father to drink, and how much he’s need to have drunk before Stiles can wiggle out information from him.
Because, here’s the thing, Stiles needs information from his father about active cases because he’s basically sitting on a Hellmouth. People are dying in BH, Stiles his friend, his family, his reluctant allies are in trouble. They could die. If you think for one second Stiles wouldn’t ply his father with alcohol to try and get pertinent information that might save everyone’s lives even if the Sheriff was a raging alcoholic…. What show have you been watching? It’s get my father drunker tonight in order to maybe save his life later, or just not. What do you think he’s going to choose?
What we can infer from the Stilinski relationship is that John/Noah doesn’t seem to be a particularly violent or even angry drunk most of the time. The wolfsbane hallucination Stiles had shows that John has gotten angry in the past and probably said some really ugly things to Stiles. Maybe he even threw a bottle or glass or picture frame at the wall once or twice or several times and maybe Stiles got too close. But that hallucination showed what John is like past that 'safe’ zone imo. I do think that John rarely goes past his limit. Cuts himself off after x many glasses, enough to take the edge off a busy day and get some sleep.
But I also think that John does drink pretty heavily compared to the average. Maybe it’s just one glass or two as a nightcap or after a shift. Double and triple that when he’s tired and nothing makes sense anymore but he needs to figure this shit out because he’s gotta protect his town. But that’s still quite a bit of alcohol to get through a week.
It also might just be me, but I headcanon the JD Stiles tries to get Scott drunk on comes from his dad’s stash. I mean sure Stiles could have paid someone to get it for him, and maybe has a fake ID himself.. But his dad’s also the sheriff for beacon county. It just seems easier for him to sneak a bottle from his dad and plan to sneak whatever’s left back into the liquor cabinet later or whatever. Bc chances are, that as much as John does drink, he’s not going to really take much note that there’s more than one bottle open. Maybe just 'I should cut down’ which is what Stiles would want.
But as always YMMV, and try to keep away from using bad habits as a crutch bc they might one day kill you instead.
Yeah, I very much think that Stiles has worked out his dad’s “safe zone” and knows when it’s okay for him to take the bottle away without repercussions. I also think that John was probably a blackout drunk around the time of Claudia’s death, but that he’s cut back a lot. So yes, he still drinks, but he’s cut back a lot, and Stiles can live with that.
And yes, absolutely, alcoholism affects everyone differently. And I’m in no way making excuses for it, but sometimes, when you live with an alcoholic or someone with any kind of addiction, it’s easier to just not rock the boat.
It’s certainly not a kid’s place to say “Hey, Dad, I think you have a problem with alcohol.” At least, I never said that to my father and I can’t imagine any circumstances where I would have. If hew as in denial the next morning, then so was I.
Don’t rock that boat!

LGBT representation in Voltron
UPDATED: I realized I wasn’t coming off as neutrally as I’d like and there were hints of shipping peeking through. I also didn’t feel I had expanded properly on certain aspects. I’d like this particular post to be as neutral as possible so that it’s accessible to people from all ships and headcanons.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion lately about LGBT representation in Voltron. From shipping wars to insistent demands that headcanons be fulfilled, it’s all getting a little bonkers. I wanted to step back, encourage everyone to take a breather, and discuss the potential of any LGBT on the show, including and excluding popular expectations. So here we go, a post on LGBT representation in Voltron and in cartoons, and why it's not as simple as we'd like it to be. It’s a little long but don’t worry, there are pictures! AND A COMIC!
DISCLAIMER: I do not work on Voltron, nor do I work for Dreamworks or any of its properties. I'm just an animator who's worked on dozens of cartoons for a number of studios and the following is based on my experience in this industry. This post is NOT meant to indict any of the parties involved in the creation of Voltron or other cartoons. Making cartoons is a complicated, collaborative process and no one is a villain.
Here we go:
Before we can talk about LGBT rep & Voltron, we should probably talk about LGBT representation in cartoons in general. In case it isn't clear, I'm speaking specifically about Western cartoons that primarily air in Canada/US. Anime is a whole other category and one that Voltron does not fall under. I'm also removing cartoons that were made explicitly for adults.
LGBT in cartoons is a really recent development. If we include adult cartoons it can date back as far as 20 years (South Park showcasing some SUPER GREAT gay stereotypes :|) but if we're including cartoons geared towards kids (age 5-17)... we're talking this being a thing in the last FOUR years. And the number of times it's been done is so minimal, it can be summed up in these few images:

6Teen, 2010 CANADA ONLY - An incidental female character revealed she liked women. I don’t think this show ever aired in the States but it ran on Teletoon for years. The show also had an episode with an incidental gay character in 2008.
Gravity Falls, 2013 - The sheriff and deputy are repeatedly hinted at being in a relationship. I believe in the series finale their relationship is more clearly identified. It was later confirmed by the show’s creator.
Legend of Korra, 2014 - The two female leads, after having previously dated the same male character, are strongly implied to now be dating each other as they hold hands and walk into the Spirit World together. This was as explicit as they were allowed to get with their relationship. The comics continue their relationship romantically and also highlight other characters from both series who are (or were) LGBT).
Steven Universe, 2013 - The show doesn’t shy away from its LGBT romances, in particular Ruby and Sapphire and Pearl and Rose.
Star vs The Forces of Evil, 2017 - in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it panning shot, two background male characters are seen kissing.
Clarence, 2013 - The main character has two moms. In one episode, a handsome male background character is shown greeting another man for a date by kissing him on the cheek. Initially they were supposed to peck on the lips until other countries’ censors demanded the change.
Loud House, 2016 - The main character’s best friend, Clyde, has two dads.
I’m also going to toss out an Honourable Mention to Adventure Time for Princess Bubblegum & Marceline, whose past romantic relationship was sort of hinted at in the show but only confirmed outside of it.
If we take that list and cut it down to just (broadcast TV) primary or recurring characters, we're left with this:

I should also mention that while I repeatedly use the term LGBT, what I’m really referring to is more LGB. I would love to see a trans character in a broadcast cartoon. I’ve heard Amazon’s Danger & Eggs has a trans character, which is AMAZING and a solid start. However progressively speaking, broadcast cartoons tend to lag a little behind live action TV and movies aimed at older teens and adults, and those genres are still struggling to feature trans characters.
So why is this?
Firstly, and more importantly, a lot of these shows air in countries that aren't nearly as open about LGBT as USA/Canada are. To say "screw those guys! They should keep up with the times!!" is to cut out a major consumer base and most companies are unwilling or unable to take that financial hit. This doesn't make them evil. Animation, just like filmmaking, may be an artform but it is first and foremost a BUSINESS. Major companies like Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network won’t lose money, but the production studios they hire to do their shows will suffer the brunt of it and could lose the business of these powerful corporations. It’s happened time and time again that a show initially animated in the US or Canada has been taken away from that studio in favor of a cheaper, overseas option. In some cases they’ve closed.
Second, even in 2018 there is still a lot of pushback from homophobic or “family-oriented” groups with decent clout and numbers. Also, there is a strange pervasive idea that LGBT is something that is Not For Children, likely because too many foolish people still associate heteronormativity with love and everything outside of that with sex.
Additionally, you may have noticed that on the list of the three shows showcasing LGBT relationships in a primary or recurring character way... ALL of them feature women. The social discussion about why that is honestly merits an entire other post (or 5) so to put it plainly, broadly speaking, people tend to be more comfortable with female queerness over male queerness. We have yet to see a m/m relationship that has any iota of history or character development behind it, or a recurring queer male character.
With this in mind, Voltron, which features a primarily male cast, and thus has more chances of featuring a male LGBT character, has its work cut out for it.

Fresh off the heels of Korra, a series that in the 11th hour featured the two female leads ending up with each other, it's no surprise that showrunners Lauren Montgomery and Joaquin Dos Santos( along with other cast and crew) have fielded a barrage of questions about their intention to depict LGBT on the show. At NYCC when asked about it, this was JDS & LM's response:
"It's very important to us... we’re fighting to create as open and as broad a spectrum of characters as we can."
Which is a pretty interesting way of putting it, and a pretty understandably CAREFUL way of putting it. Again, I want to reiterate, I don’t work for any studio involved in the production of Voltron so this is largely conjecture.
So here's how the hierarchy works, as far as I can tell.
I'm not sure who approached who to get a new Voltron made, but primary creative decisions would fall to JDS and LM, who are in charge of things like major plot points, characters, and arcs. When they've figured this stuff out, they pitch it in a multitude of sessions with Dreamworks People... and that's when the battle begins. Pitching a show is always a tug-of-war. Let's be clear: No creator has ever gone in with a show and walked away with every single aspect that they wanted. Compromises and concessions are made because while the Creatives are focused on their story and character, their client is concerning themselves with budget, timelines, audience targets and $$marketing$$. Before they even got to the matter of LGBT, JDS/LM had lost and won battles over some plot and character decisions. You can actually feel it sometimes when you watch the show; key emotional moments that never happen, or character stuff that gets shaved in favor of action or the reuse animation of the lions forming Voltron.
This show is still aimed at a young, male, market Dreamworks wants to believe is going to buy their incredibly limited line of related toys, and that is a market that is difficult for executives to see as being interested in romance, let alone a queer one.
The point is, as much as JDS/LM seem to want LGBT in their show, it is a negotiation that I'm sure has been on the table since Day 1 and probably one that is ongoing. Here's a vague idea of what MAY have gone down:
Dreamworks: We will consider the idea of two of them in a relationship, but the third has got to go.
JDS/LM: .....we appreciate you considering the relationship aspect.
Dreamworks: In addition, we feel that to balance the scales so to speak, at least one character needs to be overtly heterosexual. You know, hit on a lot of female characters, maybe even fall for one of them.

This is very probably not what happened, but it is an example of what could have. I know there is a lot of support for a certain character in Voltron being bi, not least of all because of something LM drew.
I think the placement of the characters holding the signs were less about associating the character with the header and more about making sure neither of the two warring ships were represented; it would have incited a new level on the shipping wars and the message and intent behind this art would have been lost.
There is a weird association with relationships and how they define a show if they aren’t hetero. Have only one relationship on a show about space battles and if it’s LGBT, people will start associating Voltron with being “the gay space battle show”. I don’t want to get into Discourse about This Thing because debate gets lost quickly in favor of toxic insults, but I think it’s important to touch on Bi!Lance. To be entirely neutral about it, it is possible that Lance was originally intended to be bi. But if there was the potential for other characters to be LGBT, the showrunners might have been asked to “strike a balance” so to speak, so that Voltron wouldn’t just be “the gay space battle” show since its hetero relationships would outnumber the queer ones. I don’t think Lance’s character has changed at all since his inception; the show needs a funnyman for levity and ridiculousness, and he is absolutely the charmer of the Paladins. He may have been intended to hit on just about any attractive being in his orbit (there are shades of what one might call a “man-crush” in regards to his Shiro hero-worship). While it would have been awesome to have a bi male character in a cartoon, changing his attraction dial from “all” to “female” doesn’t really affect his storyline, especially since it’s hard to contest that the show has been angling in potential for endgame Allurance in seasons 3&4. I realize that sounds dismissive of the bi experience, that’s really not what I’m trying to get at. I’m saying that in the grand scheme of things, it may have been easier to sacrifice an LGBT Lance in order to win another LGBT representation battle. Like I said, making cartoons that maintain the creative, storyline, and character goals you walk in with is a tug-of-war, and you’re going to lose something along the way.
But it’s not all about Lance, and again, that’s all theoretical. It’s also possible that Pidge was at one point NB or even trans. There are hints of Coran having a close friendship with Alfor. The original blue paladin is hinted at flirting with a fellow male character in a “did he just--” moment that most people missed. Lotor surrounds himself with female generals but never seems particularly attracted to them. Keith’s undying devotion to Shiro could be interpreted as romantic. There are a dozen main characters whose orientations are nebulous at best and thus have potential to be queer.
So what does this mean for the future of LGBT on Voltron?
The short version is: I'm actually, really, really hopeful. For a number of reasons.
1) JDS/LM as they've said, are fighting really hard for this to be a thing. Jeremy Shada has said "You'll be really happy" when asked about LGBT on the show. People may feel he’s referring to his character Lance, but I think he’s just hoping that people will be happy with any character who could be explicitly stated to be LGBT.
2) Netflix isn't a TV broadcaster, which means they can operate under somewhat different rules. Sort of. They certainly don't shy away from LGBT content but they may be regulated under rules of "what is appropriate for children in certain age groups" which frustratingly, for kids 12 and under, does not often include LGBT content. Netflix notoriously doesn't release their viewership data so this is just speculation; but I wonder if the biggest audience taking in this show is actually people, primarily women, aged 14+. Taking this into account won't influence the plot, but the bumped up age could show an increased likelihood of LGBT rep as it pushes the show outside of the "content too sensitive for young children" zone.
3) It would be really nice to see explicit, unambiguous affection between two same-sex characters. However there can still be canonical queer romance without it, shades enough of “just friendship” that they can get past the censors and bigots while those who are more aware of what’s going on can recognize the relationship for what it is. Remember, some people still refuse to believe that Victor and Yuuri kissed in Yuuri on Ice, all thanks to the clever placement of an arm. Furthermore, LGBT doesn’t have to be portrayed through relationships but just the character itself. A character could make a passing comment that alludes to their sexuality. It’s not quite as satisfying as having it out in the open, but DW’s hands may be tied by the stipulations of the contract outlined by Netflix.
4) Despite what certain world events would have you believe, people are becoming more progressive and supportive of LGBT rights and content. We've seen it happen in movies and live-action television. More and more cartoons are going to be including LGBT content, in broader and more overt ways. There will be other cartoons who feature main characters who identify as LGBT, recurring characters in LGBT relationships who are allowed to be affectionate and cutesy with their partners, who are represented no differently or reverently than hetero cartoon romances. Voltron will likely end within the next two years, and within those next two years more and more cartoons will be taking "risks" and more and more broadcasters will feel emboldened to allow them to do so. If Dreamworks keeps its content steadfastly heterosexual while fellow producers embrace LGBT, it's going to reflect badly on them.
People are desperate for representation in this show and it’s not hard to see why. It is not only one of the few serial cartoons out there, but one that deals with surprisingly adult themes considering it’s aimed at elementary schoolers. I think it’s really neat that people have so many headcanons about the LGBT rep in this show, and I think it’s great that it’s an element that has sparked a lot of passion in people. However, everything is still conjecture, the series is but half over, and putting all your LGBT demands onto one character or one relationship is unhealthy. It’s also pretty insidious to attack or harass crew, cast, or fellow fans whose views on how the LGBT should happen don’t align with your own. The show’s arcs and plot points have been written, the characters decided, but the internal fight over LGBT rep could still be going on. The creators aren’t going to cave to pressure from people who really want their ship or their character to be the sacred cow. Ship what you want to ship but recognize that while LGBT on the show may not happen the way you’d like it to, it’s still important to support its existence no matter what form it comes in.
In the next part I’m going to cover one relationship in particular as neutrally as possible and whether or not it has potential to become canonically romantic.
