i think ppl who arent aroace should stop talking about luffy ships and aroace luffy. ESPECIALLY if theyre very against luffy ships. (like it's fine to hc luffy as aroace and it's fine to not like luffy ships! but holy shit do NOT fill your bs in the ship tags unless you are prepared to be criticized or be sent hate (which is unfortunate bc it just makes us look worse when we're already in the dumps))

anyway fun fact of the day! i held a poll on twt (and i should here too) abt how many ZL shippers are at least on the aroace spec, and it turns out a VAST MAJORITY of us are!

and also if i may add, while it's fine to not like luffy ships bc of Your aroace hc... i find it a little odd that it's always people that arent aroace hating/disliking it. maybe it's bc there are people who know fandom etiquette and not put negativity in ship tags.

(and not to include shipping discourse... while it's not ALL zs shippers... it's somehow always zs shippers. theyre so worried about us 'icky' zl shippers when they go and ship ZS lmao...)

like im sorry but "i am not allowed to openly be your ally today it seems" and then you turn around and?? block aroace people??? that are criticizing you for being wrong??? im sorry but please dont speak for the community and how a HEADCANON is alienating us.

you want to raise awareness and yet you refuse to listen and just whine about hate instead of accepting youre wrong. should you be sent hate? no, of course not! should you listen to the aro ace people that are trying to educate you and NOT block them? YES.

sorry i ended up talking about it anyway. im just gonna trust aro/ace ppl with their luffy hcs/ships atp because... 😭

plus for some reason it's ZL always being targeted. i never see mentions of other luffy's ships, mlm or mlw. it just happens to be ZL every time.

i just think yall hate ZL and that you dont care for aroace rep. just sayin.

Luffy is aroace! Just shut up

(catchy title without purpose because it's my post and I can do what I want and I'm really tired and irritated by this speech)

There's something that really irritates me about the One Piece community in general

"Luffy doesn't have sex because he's aroace!"

???? Aroace people have sex??

Like, people talk like aroace people can't have sex or have relationships

And I know there will be people who just like this hcs or like to say this because they are aroace and want to identify themselves and that's ok

But most people who say this are not Aroace and don't even have the slightest knowledge about Aroace people

You know, being an aroace doesn't make you a robot incapable of having sex and falling in love, that's not how it works???

And yes, you can say that he doesn't have sex AND he's an aroace, but you can't EVER say that he doesn't have sex JUST because he's an aroace

This is fucking prejudiced

Seriously, this type of thinking is why the aroace community is so invalid and treated like a joke

And a fact for those who don't know, you can NOT have sex and guess what, NOT be aroace or ace

Because one thing has NOTHING to do with the other???

If you don't think Luffy doesn't have sex or would have a relationship, this is your hcs and it's ok!! You are free to find whatever you want, and also it's ok to have Luffy with hcs aroace, nothing wrong about that!

But don't use aroace as a justification for saying "oh he doesn't have sex because he's an aroace" because like I said, aroace people can YES HAVE SEX

Just do a little research before you start talking shit, people may not want relationships and sex without being aroace

It's not like, oh I don't like sex therefore I'm ace, that's not how it works???

Regardless of what you feel, only YOU can say what you are, if you don't consider yourself any lgbt label, then you are not lgbt

It's just, frustrating, because I see, like, people saying that Luffy doesn't have sex because he's an aroace and here I am an aroace who has no problem having sex and does have a desire for it

Seriously, if you are going to talk about something that you have no place to talk about and is not part of your community, the least you can do is research it, don't be stupid

If you have any questions about aroace people, feel free to send me a message, I love talking about my community and everything it encompasses, because series, the aroace community is much more extensive than you can imagine

But anyway, you author, when you talk about a subject that you don't understand, just research it first, don't come off as homophobic or prejudiced for nothing, ok? :))

Random aspec fictional character HCs

Matthew Cuthbert (Anne With an E)

Asexual + aromantic

Lived his whole life unmarried like his sister but, unlike Marilla, never had any relationships in the past. Doesn't reciprocate Jeannie's feelings and tells her his love for his adopted daughter (Anne) is the only love he has room for. Was TERRIFIED when Anne tried to set him up with Jeannie.

*(this is specific to AWAE but I think it can apply to book Matthew as well)

Selah Summers (Selah and the Spades)

Asexual + aromantic

Tbh this one might be canon (or at least heavily implied). Never has been in a relationship. Admits to Paloma that she's just never been interested in anyone in a romantic or sexual way.

Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)

Asexual + aromantic

Just doesn't seem remotely interested in romance or sex. Gets grossed out/ annoyed when people kiss in front of him.

*(this is specific to the anime, idk about the manga or live action adaptation)

Willie Jack Sampson (Reservation Dogs)

Asexual + aromantic

Never had a love interest or showed attraction in the show (to the best of my knowledge. If she did, I missed it). Also, THIS OUTFIT SPECIFICALLY. Her hoodie is aroace colors and her socks look like a mix of the asexual flag and the aromantic flag.

Lucy Wells (Harlots)

Grey asexual/ greysexual (+possibly aromantic? Maybe demiromantic? I haven't decided yet)

Born into prostitution but HATES sex. Avoids it as much as she can and by the last season finds a way to do her job without having to have sex. The reason I said grey ace is because she DOES seem sexually attracted to Fallon after some time of being with him (I think? I was a little confused about how she felt tbh).

Birdy (Birdy)

Asexual + demiromantic

Everyone in his life thinks it's weird that he's so interested in birds and not girls. Admits to Al he doesn't see the appeal of sex at all. Very reluctant to go to prom with Doris and had no idea what to do when she parked the car and offered him sex. I can see him developing romantic feelings after close friendship (like with Al) which is why I think he's demiromantic.

Bilbo AND Frodo Baggins (The Hobbit/ The Lord of the Rings)

Both asexual (+ maybe demiromantic, though I can also see Bilbo as aro)

Both remained bachelors all their lives. Bilbo lived alone and later with Frodo who was like an adopted son. Frodo lives for a long time with Sam and Sam's wife Rosie. I personally think that Sam and Frodo are in a romantic relationship, while Sam and Rosie are in a sexual relationship. Frodo seems content with this arrangement which is why I believe he's ace.

Ted Buckland (Scrubs)

Asexual

Simply because of the part where Carla says "I don't want any MAN filming me giving birth unless he's completely asexual" and then Ted walks in with a camera and Carla smiles and says "oh hi Ted!". (I think this was a poorly-aged joke about him being "ugly" more than anything but I'm still claiming it). Also when he sings the duet with Gooch and Gooch says "I want to screw you" while Ted says "I want to kiss you.

Fabian Rutter (House of Anubis)

Asexual

He's nerdy and into space (I know this is a stereotype but representation is scarce I take anything I can get... you get it right). Also his relationship with Nina is very innocent and I can't see him developing sexual attraction even when he becomes an adult.

Dirk Gently and Bart Curlish (Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency)

Dirk- Asexual

Bart- Aromantic

Neither of them have love interests in the show (although Bart/Ken may have been implied) so this is just how I felt about the characters personally. I think Dirk definitely had a crush on Todd and is gay but I don't think he gets sexual attraction. Bart is the opposite. I can see her developing sexual attractions and feelings but being repulsed by kissing/ dating etc.

*(this is specific to DGHDA, idk about any other versions of these characters)

Favorite character: Zoro, always Zoro

Least Favorite character: Mmmm I never liked Dofladildo

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Zoro/Sanji, Franky/Robin, Marco/Ace, Usopp/Kaya, Nami/Vivi

Character I find most attractive: Huhhh that one’s tough, Zoro ofc, but also Sanji, and probably others but those are the first ones that came to my mind… oh but Mihawk’s really hot too

Character I would marry: Robin bc we could have dates at the library or some shit and also she would straight up murder anyone who wants to harm me 11/10 wife material

Character I would be best friends with: idk man I’d just try to befriend like everyone bc I want ppl to like me

a random thought: Dang son I should catch up with OP sometime

An unpopular opinion: not that unpopular but Dressrosa was wayyy too dragged out which was actually what made me lost interest enough to keep me from reading any further

My Canon OTP: Usopp/Kaya, they’re probably the closest to canon idek

My Non-canon OTP: Zoro/Sanji, rooting for those two forever man

Most Badass Character: So many?? Literally everyone? I want to say Zoro bc I’m biased but tbh Mihawk for example is pretty damn badass, or Shanks as well, idk so many badass motherfuckers there

Most Epic Villain: Haaaa jfc I barely even remember all the villains, but I rly loved the fight against Kuma on Thriller Bark so maybe him even tho he’s not even a real villain??

Pairing I am not a fan of: Mmm there are lots, Luffy/Nami, Law/Luffy, anything that doesn’t go with my sexuality hcs for the (main) characters like for example I hc Zoro as gay and Luffy as aroace so anything that doesn’t work with those hcs is kind of not so much my thing

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Man I gotta be honest I don’t even remember well enough to answer this question I’m sorry!

Favourite Friendship: Ohh I’ve always had a weakness for Zoro & Perona bc they’re totally siblings, but also gay bffs Nami & Zoro

Character I most identify with: ??? I am not as cool as any character tbh

Character I wish I could be: Maybe Nami bc she’s a gorgeous lesbian icon, or Robin bc of the cool powers, or Zoro bc SWORDS, oh or maybe Perona bc of the Goth Aesthetics!
