couldnt find my image of him with the coveralls tied around his waist, so I drew a new one. had to do it, important character design details. shirt too tight, most of his clothes are. Despite his socio-economic position his clothes are kinda old, from before he got jacked, and between the fact he doesnt want to go out to get new ones because [REDACTED] and the fact that he likes a snug fit he cannot be made to wear something that fits. I have no information about casarin’s look, is what it is, crop top with a built in modest guard has to to be the best idea i ever had.
Tumblr media
Every time I force him to be shirtless he takes this pose. I have a lot of notes about his body but he won’t let me post them. he’s got a gun so i’ll listen. He took the explosion to the shoulder, though its mostly just surface damage he did lose feeling at the center of the deltoid.
Tumblr media
POV you just called him a big boy. like the genius i am i drew it on the edge of my sketchbook leave me and my low quality big boy alone. Nevermind that. You get one (1) character with abs, and only see them really defined when he flexes. Im not super into his shorts being brown but we like never see him in just shorts. itll work for now. whatever. You have to pry the goggles off him tho.

Bara UF Sans Felt like drawing him again to see if I could get his brow bone to be more subtle. (Wanted it to be there, but not completely defined)
He’s pretty fun cause he has lots of round shapes and wrinkles, which are things I like to draw most. I think of bara Sans as a character who represents the ideas of fans who change Sans’ iconic characteristics to fit their uh... personal interests. (Taller, more attractive, physically stronger, ect...)
I do think realistically a horn dog monster would be a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

I was trying to study buff anatomy, I was using pinterest, but then it started showing up some baka drawings and weird photoshopped photos and it makes me really uncomfortable. Do you know any site I could use to study that has at least an option to show only safe for work images?
Anon, I think I understand what you're asking but I just need to confirm one thing...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
....bara?
Did you possibly mean bara drawings???
If you did indeed mean that you don't want to potentially be flipping through mildly sexual bara images and bad photoshop jobs wherein dudes give themselves too many abs to compensate for a lack of personality, then perhaps I might be able to help!
Keep in mind that if you want to study musculature and anatomy, you may need to put up with nudity no matter what. And no matter what way you spin it, many nude anatomy studies may be classified as 'nsfw' because unless you work in an art studio...... yes, it WILL be not safe for work, even if it's not sexual.
My first piece of advice - stop using Pinterest.
It's a good tool for collecting images, yes, but it will not be an adequate teacher for this sort of thing. It may also give you references which are not entirely realistic. Of course, un-realistic art and exaggeration in art are fine! But as a baseline to learn from, it isn't good.
Second - if you're looking for poses to reference for art, check out AdorkaStock, a long-time, famous photo-reference account that has thousands of human references for free!
Third... If you're looking specifically for BUFF references, it's going to be better to look for actors or famous people who you KNOW are well-muscled instead of searching for a random 'big buff guy' online.
For example, think of an actor you consider 'buff'. Search via google for candid photos of him - with safe search on. Chances are, you can get some references which are not uncomfortable for you.
Look, here's one of Jason Momoa!
Tumblr media
For a beginner artist, this may be enough! You don't have to draw every single muscle bulging to give the idea to your viewers that a person is ripped. The proportions of his shoulders, the wideness of his arms, etc, is already enough, and it will go a LONG way to visually suggesting muscles than a rob liefield lookalike.
For anything more than that, you'll need to get comfortable with seeing people naked, or almost-naked, and simply seek out photos of athletes with the type of body you want to draw! Swimmers, triathletes, football players and rock climbers are all 'buff' but in different ways. Looking through photos of these athletes may give you a better idea of the variety that's out there.
And for any other anatomy lessons, I do recommend YouTube because there are many art teachers who offer their advice for free. For example this guy, who explains anatomical bone and muscle groups to help your illustration!

*Clears throat* Speaking of happy trails which guys do you think have them?
My happy trail-loving self would say all of them but...realistically certain guys wouldn't be able to grow much in the way of body hair and others prob get rid of everything.
Straight up those beasty boys Jack, Leona, and Ruggie would have them. To me it makes sense beastmen would naturally be hairier, plus i think they would have fur in places regardless of that nonhuman au i got where their even more beastlike.
Tumblr media
They did jack so dirty not giving him under arm fur floof.
Ramble rant aside-
All three of those boys have them but Jack's is thicker. Ruggie isn't as hairy as the other two but still has one.
Ace, Deuce, Trey, Floyd, Kalim, Rook, Idia, Mal, Silver Sebek have em.
The other guys just either shave it off or aren't really able to grow one or at most just get a little bit of fuzz.
For some reason, the whole naturally having unnatural hair colors thing just makes it hotter to me too.
Suggestive/kind of nsfw ramble/rant⬇️
I wouldn't say I have a body hair fetish, depending on the guy and how much he has I might think ew.
But man, Japan just makes all the guys perfectly smooth unless it's for bara stuff which is disappointing since it's a natural and sexy thing to have.
When I look at certain guys like Trey, Idia Rook, and the beasty boys I just wanna pull up that shirt, down his pants, and get a look at what he has going on.
Knowing Trey would have a green bush makes me giggle.
I know Idia wouldn't have fire pubes and they would prob just be regular blue hair like his eyebrows, but remember, his eyebrows also turn red like his hair when made so if you ride him while his angry you could say... you got a hot seat.
Aaaaaah Jack, the big dude runs hot so he would have his shirt off often when training. So much to look at and so many opportunities to do so. I would bury my face in the crotch floof.

Wanted to try ranking SWTOR class stories in order of "importance" - how relevant they are to the games overarching ongoing storyline, based on factors like how often aspects of them come up in other class stories, or elsewhere in the story, how easily they flow into the expansions, how important their companions end up being later, etc.
Jedi Knight: This one's undeniable, I think. It's basically the main plot class. Knight kills Vitiate first, deals with a lot of the more important problems on most of the planets they go to. And Kira, Scourge, and T7 all get main character status in the expansions regardless of your class.
Imperial Agent: This one is a tossup with Sith Warrior for me. I can see arguments for either, but Agent wins out imo just because of how far-reaching the Star Cabal is, and, maybe somewhat paradoxically, how relevant *other* class stories are to its story. Kaliyo and especially SCORPIO also end up being pretty important in the expansions, as well as a few other Agent companions and NPCs.
Sith Warrior: You are literally the Emperor's Wrath. The class with the closest direct connection to the Emperor, besides maybe Knight. Again its a tossup for me whether Warrior or Agent are the "A" plot for the Empire storyline, but the Wrath almost single handedly reignites the war for Darth Baras. As well as being a fairly close acquaintance of one of Vitiate's potential successors, Vowrawn. Vette also ends up being fairly important in the expansions, though not as much since Eternal Throne.
Jedi Consular: The Children of the Emperor have only recently become very, very relevant again, and we don't fully know where that plot is going, but I think thats still a compelling argument to put Consular relatively high. None of their companions have been super relevant post-class story besides Nadia on Ossus, but the Rift Alliance does end up feeling like a precursor to the Eternal Alliance, to me.
Sith Inquisitor: This may feel low for Inquisitor, given they become a Dark Council Member but honestly they don't do that much. They're somewhat responsible for the Dark Temple being Like That in the other class stories, and the Silencer Fleet is somewhat important, as well as Moff Pyron. But none of their companions are relevant anywhere else and I don't think the events of their class story are referenced anywhere except some passing name drops of Darth Thanaton. I could realistically rank them lower, but again, they ARE on the Dark Council.
Bounty Hunter: Honestly the remaining three tech classes are hard to rank. But I think BH gets a lot of credit for technically allowing Saresh to rise to power. And not for nothing, a lot of their companions have been relevant in expansions, especially Torian recently. You only get a *lot* of the earlier Mando stuff through BH, which I think also counts for something.
Trooper: I think Trooper mainly gets points for Jorgan being a main character in Fallen Empire. They do a lot of stuff that *feels* important, and General Garza, Rakton, and the Bastion come up elsewhere, but it never feels like there's much impact from the Trooper story overall.
Smuggler: I mean what can I say. I love the Smuggler storyline, and Nok Drayen *is* a member of the Star Cabal, but none of this shit mattered lol. Which is totally thematically appropriate imo, it's at least meant to be a pretty personal story with personal stakes. At least everyone can meet Akaavi and Guss in the expansions.

Right, exactly. ‘Bara’ literally means ‘rose’, of course, but it’s pretty equivalent to ‘pansy’ in English, i.e. it’s an old-fashioned slur that some dudes found it entertaining to name things after, including that old magazine Barazoku. (And more power to them. I love Pansy Division, which is the same kind of deal.)
Gei komi are definitely more of a cis gay male culture thing, by, for, and about gay dudes. (Maybe bi dudes? I don’t read enough gei komi to know how they are about mlm who aren’t gay.) Not that they’re always realistic, obviously. That guy getting knocked up by a minotaur really sticks with one! (Yes, I am a basic bitch who has only read Gengoroh Tagame.) But they’re more of a direct representation thing than BL is. Or at least, that’s how they’re marketed and the kind of personas the authors usually have.
AFAIK, the overall category is just ‘gay comics’, and the muscle stuff has some term referring to that with ‘bara’ being more of a foreign language term at this point due to us not cringing like “Oh shit, I just called a dude a pansy”? If you’re hanging out in gay bars in Japan, you may well know more though.
Certainly, an individual artist might try their hand at selling to both gay magazines and BL magazines (with different pen names, one imagines). And certainly, people who like m/m content sometimes stray into other areas looking for more. I don’t want to gatekeep here: they’re obviously not hermetically sealed bubbles. But broadly, the various hairy, muscley, and chubby styles stereotypical of gay comics tend to stay there, and the willowy bishounen tend to stay in the stuff nominally aimed at women. Same with plotlines, styles of porn, yadda yadda. It’s Nifty.org vs. AO3. It’s not as simplistic as “Romance is for girls!” or “All gay men write about coke can dicks!”, but we know the two styles when we see them.
They’re not literally genres in that they’re defined by the target market rather than the content. Theoretically, you could have some muscle porn in a BL magazine and it would then be defined as BL. And we can’t know for sure who is actually creating or consuming them. A cis woman who likes drawing ultra masculine hairy men would presumably go submit to gay mags rather than BL ones.
But we know the ostensible target demographic and the trends that are more typical of one or the other. Gei komi are definitely presented as a gay thing by gay men for gay men. There’s no layer of abstraction like with drag or BL.

Summary:
After being forced to graduate from JPX48 following a controversial incident with a male fan, Ai Narata swears to never interact with another man ever again. Using her talents and strong desire to get away from men, Ai auditions for the exclusive all-female Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts. The school is renowned for producing the best actresses that go on to perform in the famous all-female Kouka Theatre Troupe. Coming from the idol industry, Ai is the perfect candidate for the school’s hundredth generation class, but her aloof demeanor alienates her from her classmates. The eccentric Sarasa Watanabe is the only person who wishes to become Ai’s friend. She enters Kouka with the goal of becoming a top “otokoyaku” performer—an actress that plays traditionally male roles. After seeing a Kouka performance of The Rose of Versailles when she was younger, Sarasa dreams of performing as Lady Oscar one day. Unfortunately, Sarasa's inability to read a room causes friction between her and her classmates, including Ai, who reluctantly becomes her roommate and partner in many of their classes. Succeeding at Kouka will involve more than just raw talent for these young girls as jealousy, deceit, and the harsh realities of show business put their mental fortitude to the test. Will Sarasa and Ai be able to rise to the top and stand on the silver bridge?
Propaganda:
If theatre setting/schools is your thing, you’re probably going to love this series! We follow our protagonists and their schoolmates following their dreams to become actresses for the prestigious Kouka Revue. Not an easy road as they will have to face and overcome many challenges, the hardest ones coming from themselves. Indeed, the story is not afraid to address sensitive topics and their resulting traumas (see TW list) always rightfully handed. These episodes may be a bit hard to see if you’re sensitive to these topics, but the show never leaves you in discomfort: everything is properly addressed, and characters are cared for realistically.
The characters are all very well-written, portraying individuals with way more depth than they may appear at first glance. We follow their growth—or its start—during the series. Sarasa is a walking sunbeam, and her blooming friendship with the withdrawn Ai is a delight to watch. We learn to know—and love—all their classmates as well, as episodes switch focus to one or the other.
The OST is really good, with a catchy opening, and no less than five different versions of the ending song, a fabulous duet voiced by the cast! The animation features really pretty art with iconic details like the stars in Sarasa’s eyes. The series is a homage to Takarazuka and scatter references to famous real-life Revues and older famous shôujo manga series like “Versailles no Bara” or “Glass no Kamen”. Actually, it feels like a modernized version of their essence: roses, sparkles, spotlight, drama, all while staying safe!
This anime is like candy for eyes and soul, and I really hope we'll get a season 2 to explore the girls' voices further!
Trigger Warnings: Child Abuse, Pedophilia, Self-Harm
Nothing is too graphical nor explicit, just the right amount to let the unsettling situations be clear enough to watchers, and they’re always addressed correctly.
Child abuse/ Pedophilia: episode 3 (+4), about Ai’s traumas
Self-harm: episode 5 focuses on a girl with an eating disorder, forcing herself to vomit (not sure if that really counts as TW?)

Summary:
Freed from the rule of samurai 150 years ago, the people of Hinomoto live peaceful lives and revere their liberators—demons whose true forms remain elusive—as gods. Fated to mine rocks for the demons to feast on, Musashi knows the grim truth: humanity is enslaved by these otherworldly beings and the samurai are the last bastion fighting for freedom. Hiding his true opinion from his peers and growing distant from his childhood friend Kojirou Kanemaki, Musashi lives in angst until the day of his graduation.
When the fresh graduates arrive at the mine, they are horrified to see the inhumane treatment of miners and the uncanny physical appearance of their overseers. However, Musashi manages to endure thanks to Kojirou's help. As the demon leader wreaks havoc on the quarry, Musashi is saved once more from certain death by the Takeda samurai clan. Recovering from humiliation and yearning for adventure, Musashi embarks on a journey to become a samurai and form his own clan!
Propaganda:
Ohtaka has done it again in creating a world full of characters with more depth than can be portrayed limited amount of screen time that each of them get. This leaves the viewer with a whole lot of potential to imagine on their own, even after watching. It’s kind of unique that it is set in the samurai era of Japan, but thanks to crystals left by the demons, motorcycles and flying castles are a thing outside the main characters’ mining village. There are plenty of gags throughout and dynamics between characters. Personally, I loved the second half a lot more than the first because of the cast introduced then. For example, the detail given to Kuroku with the lace she wears–it’s so intricately beautiful! Plus, most of the mechanics of how the world works is covered by then, so we can get into the action.
Trigger Warnings: Child Abuse, Emotional Abuse
The third main character comes from a mentally abusive family situation, but the other two help her leave that situation. Main character’s child abuse is in flashbacks for character development to rise above that and break the cycle. Don’t know if gore or fan service need a trigger warning, typical shounen stuff.

I feel like with the Bara Magna Arc there was a real missed opportunity for the Agori and Glatorian to be nocturnal due to the sweltering temperatures of Bara Magna during the day time making it unbearable to do anything during the day so they adapted a schedule of being more active at night where it's more cool
While both realistic it'll introduce the struggles post finale with the Matoran and Agori getting used to being around each other because even with Spherus Magna being reformed the Agori and Glatorian would still have those nocturnal habits bc they've done it for so long so the Matoran, Toa and Turaga are so fucking confused by it till they realize that's how they got shit done on their desert wasteland planet before Mata Nui brought life back to it

What I think of you based on who you stan/simp for in MHA, Part 1:
PRO HEROS:
Aizawa: You're depressed, but functioning.
Mic: You have ADHD, but it's well managed. (Have you taken your meds today?)
Midnight: Most fanfiction is NOT a good guide for safe, realistic, BDSM practices.
Thirteen: Hello my nonbinary pals!
Nezu: People who underestimate you because of your cute façade have made a terrible mistake.
Power Loader: You spend waaaaay too much money on Lego sets that you don't may or may not actually build.
Snipe: The wild west is cool, just please learn how to properly handle a gun before you even think about touching one.
Ectoplasm: You're the kid/guy who everyone thinks will bring a gun to school/work. You won't, but you give off that vibe.
Cementoss: Your quest for inner peace is not yet over, good job on your progress so far.
Vlad King: The genre of porn you're looking for is called Bara, you're welcome.
Fat Gum: You give off ideal-older-brother vibes.
Sir Nighteye: Once people get to know you then they see how cool you are, but until then they just think that you're a fucking weirdo. (They're not wrong tbh, but you're a cool fucking weirdo).
Endeavor: Stop making excuses for abusive people. If they've been abusive, then the only way they're going to change is through intense therapy that takes place over a long period of time. They won't just suddenly be better, if they act like they are then they're manipulating you.
Hawks: People think you're cool but instead of it giving you confidence it gives you imposter syndrome.
Mirko: You want her to crush your head in-between her thighs (me too).
All Might: You're rapidly heading down a path that will lead you to severe burn out- if you're not there already.
Best Jeanist: You should really address your control issues.
Edge Shot: More like edge-lord! Jk, you're a fucking weeb (like me).
Kamui Woods: You're not sure how you've gotten this far, but you're going to keep doing what you've been doing since it seems to be working.
Mt. Lady: You're into vore and/or macrophilia, don't even try to deny it.
Rock Lock: You are the only person in your friend group with any common sense.
Ryukyu: I'd say that you should checkout r/dragonsfuckingcars (CW: NSFW, 18+, Reddit), but you already know about it.
Hound Dog: Just admit you're a furry and move on.
Ms. Joke: AIZAWA IS MY HUSBANDO, STAY AWAY!
Gang Orca: Your looks/disposition scare people away when all you want is to be loved.
Wild Wild Pussycats: You're LGBTQA+, or an ally.
Gran Torino: He's your old man goals.
Recovery Girl: She's your old lady goals (mine too).
Crimson Riot: He's the positive masculine figure that you wish you had growing up.
Selkie: You look (◣_◢) , but your personality is (UwU).
Other: People tend to forget about you even if you're really cool.

𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍
I loved the series!
I devoured it in one sitting and, although I had small problems with certain points which I will return to below, I really liked it. My favorite episodes are those at Buggy's Circus and in Baratie. Plus, when I heard the One Piece theme music, I was in heaven!
The critiques and comments I make are purely personal and will just be nuances to add to a work that I greatly appreciate. I couldn't wait to see the live action and I was definitely not disappointed! Being French gave me a little extra laughter.
I would like to have your opinion on two points if possible (the last two of "NEGATIVE POINTS").
Tumblr media
/!\ 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐒 ! /!\
𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒
𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒
I loved the acting of each of the members of the Straw Hat crew because they represented for me the image that I had of them, whether in their ways of speaking, acting or behaving. I also liked the fact that Usopp's "lying coward" side was less emphasized compared to what I remembered from the manga in favor of giving him a more "goofi" attitude. I suddenly found him more appreciable than in the manga since I remember taking a lot more time to appreciate him there. Also Sanji, the fact that he wasn't so "Nami-swaaaaaaaaaaaaan" while still being flirtatious is something I was grateful for. I was a little afraid that his slave for women behavior would make him more annoying in live action than in manga or anime.
𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐒
After a while, the family side of the Straw Hat Pirates was so good especially in the scenes when they teased Nami - excuse me, madame - like little brothers after she was hit on by Sanji or the look between her and Luffy when Maya announces that she is offering them the Going Merry and, therefore, that Luffy has won his bet against Nami. I laughed at the "discussion" between Zoro and Luffy in the fog after they escaped Syrup Island. It reminded me a lot of Manny and Diego's "guy talk" in Ice Age! The relationship between Zoro and Sanji is also nice with Zoro insisting on Sanji's waiter job as well as their bickering during the battle at Arlong Park. P.S.: Did I have a few tears in the corners of my eyes during Sanji's departure from the Baratie? ... Maybe.
𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐒
The decorations were really impressive with the boats which were magnificent, even with their peeling paint, as well as their designs. Whether it was the ships of Alvida, Garp, the Going Merry or the Baratie (I WANT to eat there at least once in my life, please!), it was incredible. The other settings were also very beautiful (the town of Shells Town, Buggy's circus or Syrup Island with Maya's mansion) and even the very artificial side of Arlong Park worked well since it is basically a manufactured water park made by humans. The only setting that I'm less of a fan of is the courtyard of the Shells Town barracks which I find too "flat" and too overexposed in terms of lighting.
𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆
The fight scenes were awesome for me! Whether it was the boarding at the beginning or all the combat scenes afterwards, I found that they were very well choreographed and that we kept the manga vibe with the aerobatics at the slightest impact, like the pirates that Mihawk cuts who fly into the air. The devil's fruit powers were also well done in my eyes. Whether it was Gomu Gomu no Mi or Bara Bara no Mi, I found that the attacks were not too unrealistic and did not contrast with the realistic universe that the directors seem to have wanted to give to the live action. Finally, the camera work was nice, especially with the effort they put in. At the beginning, I had a little difficulty with the cuts every two seconds with very close-ups on the faces but I understood that it must be to flesh out the manga side and resume a sort of layout of the frame with boxes characteristics of this genre of literature (as with the segmentation of the image during the announcement that Garp is Luffy's grandfather). Then I ended up getting used to it after a few episodes! Plus, there was a sort of traveling in Maya's mansion when they passed from the entrance to the dining room, which I found rather nice to see them try things. Fortunately, they didn't keep the sort of artistic blurs from the first episodes (during the execution of Gol D. Roger or when Zoro speaks with Mr. 7) because I really didn't like those. The shot we saw in the trailer with Kuro's claws extending behind Merry in the cellar was also very beautiful!
𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐒
They really looked like normal clothing for the most part (there will be some examples in the negatives points) and it was nice that they didn't seem crafty. Even the Marine uniforms had quite a bit of detail while remaining realistic. There are certain wigs that look better than others (Helmeppo's wig!!!) but they are still very good. Merry is also very cute for a man with curls stuck on him, just like Kobby who is so cute with his faded pink hair and his little glasses.
𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐎
I appreciate that they "mixed" the different adventures of the East Blue Arc a little since it allows us to move forward quite quickly in the stories and avoids the aspect of they arrive somewhere, there is an enemy, they defeat the enemy, they leave, they arrive somewhere, etc. Plus, we already have mentions of Barrock Work, Skypiea and Loguetown (with Smoker) so that’s always nice. I don't remember if the scene was present in the manga but I liked seeing the panic and lack of coordination of the crew during their first attack by the Marine. In addition to Luffy's problems finding his place as Captain, I thought it fleshed out the series well!
Tumblr media
𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒
𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒
I didn't like the casting at all as well as the scenes with Shanks and his crew. I had the impression while reading the manga that they were a bit the equivalent of charismatic and festive uncles - and a bit alcoholic on the edge - who throw out a few wise words in joy and good humor with a few jokes here and there. There, I found that they were already older (even Makino, which surprised me) and they all behaved in a somewhat moralistic and not very amusing manner.
𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆
Some acting really took me out of the series like that of Alvida, Cabaji or Nojiko (which is not very important in itself) but also those of Garp, Kobby and Helmeppo. The problem for the latter was that, as a result, I couldn't stand all the scenes where we follow their evolution on Garp's ship. I unfortunately found myself skipping these passages. Gol D. Roger, Alvida and Garp's laughs also took me out of the show a bit given how unnatural they seemed.
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒
✧ … The Den Den Mushi… Nope? They looked like creepy toys with a weird digital effect. They made me a little uncomfortable like the old, slightly scary dolls. Nami's tiny Den Den Mushi, on the other hand, I really enjoyed. I would have liked the bigger ones to look like him. ✧ The wanted poster photos also looked strange as if they had the old, not-so-pretty Instagram filters that saturated the colors and erased the shadows and depth of the images. The giant portrait of Morgan at the base of Shells Town also bothered me since it reminded me a lot of a digital drawing.
𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐒
I had two big "downsides" with the costumes: the Black Cat Pirates and Arlong's crew. I think that Kuro's was okay, but for his two crew members, it surprised me to notice the lower quality of their costumes compared to the others. Already, Bushi's cape seemed too thick to me and we see during his fight with Zoro in the hall that it bothers him. Yet it was especially Sham's that I was surprised by. Her combat outfit looked like a faux leather outfit from a fast-fashion brand with cheap headband and bow tie as well as her shorts + sleeveless shirt combo. Her makeup was also curious given that her "cat" makeup is a unibrow with an arrow that connects said unibrow with her nose where the tip of the arrow that forms the nose is. I was also not convinced by their dynamic as well as by their growling which appeared to me above all to be ridiculous. The makeup of Arlong's crew also bothered since, as much as Arlong and several members of his crew were okay because we could still see their facial expressions, Chew and Kuroobi bothered me because they had rough and inexpressive faces. Mostly Chew who reminded me more of a mix between an overbotoxed woman and the masks from American Nightmare 1...
𝐋𝐔𝐅𝐅𝐘/𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐏 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏
It's not so much a negative opinion as a sort of realization? In the anime, when I saw Garp hit Luffy, I found it funny. You could see the accumulation of small bumps on his head as well as his acrobatics and his plans to dodge his grandfather. In the memories with Ace and Sabo, Garp's presence when they talk about becoming pirates is quite amusing since they start to resemble the man in Munch's painting "The Scream" more than real children. However, when we saw it in the live action with the flashback where Garp destroys young Luffy's boat while telling him that he would never become a pirate, it gave me more of an atmosphere of a beaten child and that made me feel uncomfortable. I don't know if it did that to you too.

This character does not at all resemble the image I had of him and I would like to know if I am the only one to have this distorted image. In my head, he barely spoke and, probably a cliché given his name, I saw him as a very cold and rudimentary guy. However, in the series, he appears to me to be more extravagant - whether in the way he looks or speaks - and the Latin music that appears every time he is on screen disconcerts me. And also reminded me a little of Hisoka. Am I the only one who was surprised to see him treated this way?

✧ Every time I saw Nami's outfit at Baratie, it reminded me of Dora the Explorer
Tumblr media
✧ I can't stand anymore Sanji's head movement to push back his bangs
Tumblr media
✧ When Sanji dives to save Luffy in the water, the movement of his hair directly reminds me of Prince Charming in Shrek.

✧ What is this flag chick for "One Piece" episode 5? Is it for the Baratie?
𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐀 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐇 𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐑
✧ I watched the original version but some accents were such (Z.E.F.F) that I had to put the subtitles on to be able to understand everything ✧ I realized that I had been pronouncing Baratie wrong my entire childhood. I pronounced it like it was an English word but it seems like it was supposed to be pronounced like a French one? In the French subtitles, they translated mosshead into cabbage head… N O P E! ✧ I died laughing when I heard Sanji announce his attacks at Arlong Park ("côtelette, collier, épaule, poitrail"). I realized that if there was one place in the world where a french speaking person will never be lost in the world in terms of language, it is in a kitchen!

hello, do you have any idea why so many trans men are fujoshis / obsessed with yaoi ? a lot of my friends( and some other girls I know) whom are fujoshis ( and have a severe fetish with gay men ) now, are saying that they are trans men, and I find it really strange to just be a casuality that all of the trans men I know are yaoi fanatics, it is kind of weird. I would thank if you have any responses for this, have a nice day
auntiewanda:
As far as I can tell it derives from some complex psychology. It’s long been theorized, and observed, that many women find themselves drawn to shipping two male characters because it’s a safe exploration of sexuality. It’s a relationship of equal parties that can be romantic without the intrusion of pornified obectifying fetishization that seeps into anything involving women. These degrading, often violent male-gaze depictions of female sexuality can often be internalized because it’s presented as standard.
Back in my day, shake fist at sky get off my lawn, you’d see girls cosplaying male characters obviously exploring their sexuality with each other. I see zero difference between that and the current crop of “trans men” who get into it through fandom, anime and of course yaoi.
Now yaoi is a bit distinct from plain old shipping as it’s a for women, by women fantastical rendering of male on male relationships where one party (the uke) is basically a stand in for a woman. This is probably why people use “boy’s love” or “BL” to describe things that aren’t outright pornographic and don’t have this heteronormative dynamic. Or Bara if you’re talking about Gengoroh Tagame.
So yaoi in general is aimed pretty much at heterosexual women and no one else. And I think many of these girls and women are getting their desire to be an equal in a relationship or at least have the ability to enjoy sex without it being degrading or “slutty” confused with a desire to be a gay man. Even though yaoi is hardly a realistic depiction gay relationships. And of course like any fetish the more someone indulges the more extreme they’ll get with it because of diminishing returns.
I think the inherent heteronormativity of yaoi is also what sees heterosexual women inventing and being into mpreg and A/B/O shit, as well as what makes ukefying and transing one half of a popular or canon m/m ship so popular.
So on the one hand: I’m not necessarily against women exploring sexuality in this way as long as they know that’s what they’re doing. But the rampant homophobia needs to be addressed and not just ignored with “but I AM a gay man now uwu"
rad-itzel: Oh man I remember the height of the Gundam Wing yaoi craze. If anyone hated Relena Peacecraft for anything other than her contradictory motives it was a bit suspect.  And yeah, back in the day when every female anime nerd I knew was reading Gravitation (talk about a series where the uke is a stand in for a girl at least in appearance) I heard the “I feel like a gay man trapped in a woman’s body lol” line often. It’s just been legitimized now by the gender trend.  And this is why we often refer to these women as fujoshi in the first place.

auntiewanda isn't some infallible rad aligned person by any means and I don't disagree that internalized misogyny is pertinent, but claiming any woman dissociating or latching on to a trend is easily reducible to an archetype is unfair and fallacious (though I think the overuse of 'misogyny' is tiresome and dilutes the term, even if i use it in frustration quite a bit).
Even academics point out some super sketch shit that self proclaimed fujos do, incl sexually harassing 'feminine' men. but this was an East Asian/Japanese fujo in a club who fetishized uke types. japan is not the same as the west.
So there's women conditioning themselves with power imbalance glorifying crap, and this requires scrutinization. whatever's being normalized in fan culture isn't harmless, tho i agree.

Hi all - welcome to my master-post collecting links to all my previous posts and future posts regarding my insane ramblings about applying real life science to the world of BIONICLE. Below is a list of all my work so far, and this post will be pinned and updated each time I post a new investigation so that it can all be gathered in one place.
As well as my written investigations here on Tumblr, I also have a YouTube channel dedicated to my ramblings: The Knowledge Tower. Links to videos there will also be included below.

that cemetery was so cool but there were some crazy ass graves in there. one was a literal PYRAMID w a sarcophagus and a statue of a ptolomeic-esque woman. another was a tiny roman capitol. one was a Greek temple complete with two huge statues of women, one carrying something and the other spinning. another was literally a tiny castle w a creepily realistic statue of a girl crying inside it. one had a sculpture version of the death of bara by jacques-louis david on top of it (?!). another was the grave of an admiral w two bronze statues of marines guarding it. basically, rich people are insane
