getting to know them
trying to keep your cool, you let bowers’ arms wrap around you, he was your ‘seatbelt,’ as he said just a few moments ago.
you had to admit, his grasp was comfortable, you almost started to lean into it, but quickly stopped yourself.
“so, newbie, where you from?” a voice from behind you hit your neck, making you jump, a chuckle comes from henry. “did i scare ya, sweetie?”
“i.. i’m from washington.. state.” (random choice) you said, flustered, “a.. a little bit.”
“are they breaking?” vic says in a taunting tone, reaching over and giving you a boop. “don’t worry, hon.”
“where are we going?” you asked, bowers put his head on one of your shoulders, the sudden touch made you jump again, “ah, shit.”
“sorry, newbie.” bowers said, “i just wanna introduce ourselves to you, and you do the same to us.”
“o-okay,” you said, “in town or somewhere else?”
“belch, pull into one of the parking lots.” bowers ordered, belch does so, pulling into a somewhat populared diner parking lot. putting the car in park, the car was still running. “alright.. let’s begin shall we?”
bowers grabbed you by the waist and slid you off his lap, putting you in the middle of him and patrick.
“i’ll start.” bowers said, “my name’s henry bowers, i’m the leader, i guess you could say, of this group. the dude in the driver seat is belch, but his real name is reginald.” belch gave you a small smile and wave, you waved back.
“you burp pretty loud or something?” the chubby boy nodded, he demonstrated, and impressed you, “you should teach me some time.”
“sure.” he said, chuckling softly.
“over there is vic.” henry said, pointing at the boy in the passenger seat, the platinum blonde haired boy winked at you, “and last but not least, we have patrick.”
“so, a human teddy bear, two doppelgängers of the villian that everyone wishes was dating them, and an outsider?” you said, thinking put loud, “sorry, i just like making analogies.”
“you’re good, newbie.”
meanwhile..
“w-what do you mean they were taken by b-bowers?” a worried bill asked, ben had just explained what had happened.
“we were gonna hang out at the library for a while, but bowers had taken me before i could even enter the place, (name) had arrived a few moments after.” ben said, “t-they protected me, bowers and his goons took them after they pushed me down the hill.”
“we have to get them back.” eddie exclaimed, “bowers probably took interest in them.
“i am who wouldn’t? they’re so hot.” richie said, licking his lips, only to get wacked by beverly, “ow!”
“now’s not the time to joke about this shit, we have to get them out of danger!” beverly called out.
“you’re right.” mike said, “..but where would they be?”
“look for that blue car.” eddie said, “that’s their bus.”
“c’mon then, w-we sh-should get (n)-(name) back.” bill ordered, the rest of the group agrees and gets on their bikes. “they’re h-hopefully in t-town.”
back with you..
bowers decided that it was time to propose a deal.
“w-what?!”
“you heard me, we’ll leave your friends alone, if you hang out with us.”
“why do you like me so much, i barely know you people?”
“yes, you do, darling.” henry said, cupping your chin, while patrick, who was behind you, played with your hair. “well, not yet. but, we know you like it’s the back of our hands.”.
“you’ve been spying on me?” you ask, henry smiles at you with a bit of possessiveness. “i-i’m sorry, but i just need some..”
“don’t worry, sweets. neither of us will do anything to harm you, all you gotta do is ask us to stop, and we’ll stop.” henry said, before leaning in to you.
before anything could happen, a loud bang from outside the car was heard, it was richie.
“HEY, THAT’S MY HOT BABE!”

Some hcs and snippets For Hot Glenn Holidays
(there's an idea for each prompt of the week)
----
Sweets and Baking:
Glenn likes spicy hot cocoa and coffee. It never occurred to him to look up a proper recipe for it, so usually he tossed a few drops of hot sauce in the beverage of choice and called it a day.
He does this with ready-made cookie dough as well. Both Darryl and Ron were appalled by this info but Henry seemed excited to ramble about some related family recipes.
Fun in the Snow (Post S2 AU):
It snows in hell all year so snow ball fights are pretty common. His favorite ones are yearly though when--most of the family (including Hermie) are wrangled into participating (compared to dragging over unsuspecting demons in the area). He also has an ice rink set up down there and is a DJ for it.
Caroling (Teen High School Band AU):
As the school's band teacher, he's always excited about performing with his students during the local parade. Its a performance mix of instruments and holiday tunes. One part rock 'n roll and the other being a mix of anime and traditional stuff. The anime music is courtesy of his grandson Taylor, also in the band. One of his old Glenn Close trio band mates always drives the truck for their float and of course the whole thing has protective guard rails on it. A few students and himself sit in chairs within big cardboard present boxes with no bottoms or tops. During certain cues in the songs, they are supposed to stand up to pop out of the box and then sit back down. Its a big hit with crowds and the candy canes others hand out seal the deal too. Little candy bags that even have coupons to local shops inside too.
Caroling and Saint Nicky:
Back when Morgan was still alive, she'd work some pretty long shifts sometimes. It was rarely around Christmas, but if it was, Glenn and Nick would do some caroling around the neighborhood and surprise her with a holiday serenade when she got back.
Present Wrapping (cw self harm):
Glenn's gotten into the bad habit of scratching his wrists to chase away the phantom feeling of cuffs and chains. He should stop but its easier to try and keep it a secret instead. Until he's at Darryl's holiday party and the sight of Jesus strapped to the cross makes his stomach flip. And he's off to the kitchen to get away from it all, wrists stinging as his nails-- But...with the sound of footsteps, he realizes Ron followed. The shorter man doesn't call out the obvious or ask any related questions to the red marks peaking out from under his baggy ugly christmas sweater. Instead, his friend asks him something else: "Can you try this ribbon on for me?" He doesn't remember if he even said yes or 'mhm' but the soft feeling of the present ribbon is nice. The thin fabric is warm from Ron's hands, tied loosely so Glenn could slip out of it at any time. He lets go of the breath he was holding, flexes his fingers, and stares at the pink ribbon now around one wrist "This looks dumb."
Ron doesn't hold back his little laugh at all and pats his shoulder. "Sure does. How does it feel though?" It was a thinly veiled 'How do you feel?' that Glenn decided to answer. Maybe because they were alone or because Ron was willing to laugh at him instead of assure him. Or a bit of both...
Glenn felt himself smirk and say a tired but honest, "A little better."
Christmas in the Sand:
Before the divorce, Bill used to take the family to the beach at least once a year. It was to have fun and make some business while he was down there. Getting a hotel at the beach was a lot cheaper in winter too. He'd often wake up earlier than his wife and son each morning to go browse the boardwalk. Again, there was money to be made with talks and setting up new gigs or busking.
But, regardless of the deals, his favorite part was waking up little Glenny and showing him the bag of trinkets he bought or traded for that day. The three also played out in the sand. Mostly Christine and Glenn burying a napping Bill in the sand. Christine wasn't one to laugh much except when looking at her sand mermaid husband snoozing away. Both were awake to play with their kid in the waves later on too. Glenn and Morgan took Nick to the beach as well, but they all tended to wander the city instead of play in the sand most of the time. It was so hard to get sand out of everything when they did go over there. Also having to convince their son not to munch on said sand was a whole other challenge! Still a lot of fun though and so many great pictures too.
Trees and Ornaments:
Since that blunt existed in the close family mail box regardless of the timeline shift, lets go with the thought that some other misc. items stayed behind too. Like a few worn family pictures from old vacations mentioned above. Glenn has a giant Christmas tree set up in hell and the beach day photo with Morgan by his side, an arm around his waist, and Nick on his shoulders always goes at the top instead of a star or other ornament.

A bill passed in the South Carolina Senate on Thursday would allow gun owners to carry their weapon in public without a concealed carry permit and would provide free firearms training.
The bill was approved by a 28-15 vote after nearly two weeks of debate surrounding concerns from some lawmakers and law enforcement officials over the open carry aspect. The addition of free firearms training is what led to a compromise and ultimately ended the debate.
The proposal now returns to the House, where representatives will need to agree to the Senate's addition of the free firearms training, and other changes, in order for the bill to make it to Gov. Henry McMaster's desk.
If signed into law, South Carolina will join 27 other states – including nearly every one in the Deep South – that allow open carry without a permit.
MARYLAND BILL WOULD BAN GUN CARRY FOR OWNERS WITHOUT INSURANCE POLICY OF AT LEAST $300K
The Senate's amendments to the bill also include a required statewide advertising campaign to inform South Carolinians of the free concealed weapons permit training classes while also informing residents that guns can be carried openly by those over 18.
The proposed bill does not change the fact that convicted felons cannot legally carry guns and also keeps places like hospitals, schools and the Statehouse gun-free zones. Gun owners would also not be allowed to carry in other businesses that have decided to ban weapons.
The bill also includes new state penalties of at least five years when a felon is convicted of a crime using a gun, enhanced penalties for those convicted of carrying a gun in prohibited areas, and up to three additional years in prison for someone convicted of a gun crime who has not taken the concealed weapons permit class.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey said the bill probably would not have passed the Senate without the aforementioned changes, according to The Associated Press. Though he does not have a formal estimate on how much it will cost the state per year to host at least two free training classes per week in all 46 counties, he guessed it would be at least $4 million based on the number of concealed weapons permits issued in South Carolina each year.
CALIFORNIA JUDGE BLOCKS GUN CONTROL LAW REQUIRING BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR AMMO PURCHASES
Republican Sen. Shane Martin celebrated the bill passing in the chamber and said allowing open carry has been a goal of his since he was elected to his position in 2008.
"I don’t think it's going to cause as many problems as they think it’s going to because the one thing we have to remember is the criminals are always going to be carrying," the senator from Spartanburg County said, adding that the bill wasn't exactly what he wanted, but the compromises were needed for it to pass.
Sen. Mia McLeod, an independent who often votes with Democrats, said she is concerned the bill will turn South Carolina into the "Wild, Wild West" with "no licenses, no training [and] inadequate background checks."
Law enforcement leaders have expressed worry over people carrying guns without training or experience, and the possibility of encountering armed people at a shooting scene and not being able to determine who is a threat and who is trying to help.
The concerns from law enforcement are what initially caused many Republican lawmakers to question the bill.

Gene Cousineau: “Little Sally Reed from Joplin, Missouri. What do you want?”
Sally Reed: “To be an actress … it’s all I ever wanted in the whole world.”
This quick exchange introduces Barry’s audience to Sally (Sarah Goldberg) in the series premiere. Her passionate, teary plea rings normally at first glance; she’s a small-town girl with wide-eyed Hollywood dreams. Aw, shucks. Over four seasons, HBO’s grim comedy ingeniously peels back layers to unveil Sally’s discombobulating, deeply human personality. Her unlikable traits—selfish, gravely insecure, a knack for walking over people (including seemingly naive aspiring actor Barry Block)—remain intact as the show nears its end.
By now, though, we know these qualities stem from a marred past: a rotten home life, previous spousal abuse, and a gnawing lack of confidence she desperately wants to cover up. Barry rarely excuses her entitled behavior but slowly sheds light on how her illusory front is a coping mechanism. No wonder she makes the short-lived Joplin as an outlet to process her tragedies. What’s worse? She barely gets time to exist in the world she creates after working hard to achieve it. As it turns out, Sally is the ultimate portrait of trauma in Bill Hader and Alec Berg’s stellar series, which wraps on May 28.
Sally Reed was probably never going to have a happy ending. It’s not because she prioritizes her lofty career ambitions, pushing away anything that gets in the way. Goldberg plays Sally’s goals with such enthusiasm it usually borders on mania, even when she’s sympathetic. It’s a shame she hasn’t won an Emmy for her wrenching yet funny performance. Remember her season two monologue when Barry (Hader) auditions for Jay Roach? Or her season three “entitled fucking cunt” breakdown in the elevator that Natalie (D’Arcy Carden) shares with the world, leading to her downfall? But the professional blinders Sally’s had on for most of Barry’s run is what limits her in the end.
As if her traumatic history wasn’t enough, her entanglement with Barry Berkman worsens everything. He breezes into her life one fine day, drawn into her safe space, when he catches her rehearsing outside Gene’s (Henry Winkler) studio while on a mission. Barry finds solace in it, attracted to the idea of shedding his skin to inhabit somebody who doesn’t have PTSD or a laundry list of crimes. It’s enough to get him hoping for a fresh start. That’s also what Sally hoped for when she moved to Los Angeles after finally leaving her abusive husband, Sam (Joe Massingill).
Season four delves into why Sally deserved to leave her Joplin jail. Sam isn’t the only reason. Her mother is dismissive, flat-out refusing to believe her ex abused Sally, nor does she care that her daughter’s boyfriend is arrested for murder in L.A. “Big whoop” isn’t exactly the expected maternal reaction, and her nice-guy father doesn’t have anything valuable to add, either. It’s clear from the final season’s early episodes that Sally doesn’t have anyone—anyone except for an imprisoned Barry. Her admittance to him in this season’s “bestest place on earth,” that she feels safest with him, is a devastating reality chec
Hader and Goldberg, sitting feet away, separated by a glass barrier, deliver a potent performance in a scene that sells their toxic attachment. She can write all the one-act plays and TV shows she wants, but Barry’s grievously absorbed her identity just when you (and everyone around her) thought she was free of it. Their confrontation in jail is a turning point for the show’s final installments. Her shaky confession sets Barry’s brain aflame. He teams up with the FBI, makes an enemy out of NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan), and escapes prison during a shootout. Ultimately, it launches a new life for the duo in the middle of a barren landscape where they don new identities and shed their skins. Just like the dream, huh?
Barry’s final season jumps eight years ahead with a full picture in episode five, “tricky legacies.” It glimpses into the dreary monotony of Barry and Sally, who go by Clark and Emily now. They shield their child from the real world. It doesn’t mean Sally’s not seething under Emily’s mask. Her pain follows her because she chose to give up the one thing that mattered: her acting dream. Having experienced a shitty upbringing, she passes along the intergenerational trauma to John by parenting similarly to her mom—indifferent, indignant, and inebriated. She doesn’t know where to start nurturing.
It’s not like Barry’s childhood was a prize, so neither of them is good at this, but Sally is on a whole other level. She drops alcohol in his juice to put him to sleep, serves up burnt lunches, and generally wrestles with how to love this human being she gave birth to. In Sally’s expressions, Goldberg displays a tangible aversion to motherhood, a full-bodied disdain for the life they’re responsible for creating. So yes, in a twisted way, she’s a copy of her parent now. It’s a full circle.
Everyone on Barry is haunted by their actions, especially with the time jump, so Sally isn’t an exception, of course. Barry wreaked absolute havoc. Gene lost Janice Moss (Paula Newsome), ruined his legacy, and now reappears to chase fame again. As seen in episode six, “the wizard,” Hank has grown a successful business, but had to kill the love of his life to do it. Fuches’ (Stephen Root) friendship with Barry turns sour as he morphs into the Raven. Yet, Sally’s regression is agonizing because she was a lick away from gaining everything she wanted. Instead, she ponders torturing her network boss, kills a man in self-defense, and runs back home, only for everything to crumble again. All this while witnessing Oscar winner Sian Heder work with her mentee, Kristen (Ellyn Jameson), and watching Natalie soar.
Now, she’s drunk and being tortured (note Hader’s prolific direction in “the wizard”) as a man in a ski mask figure shakes up their trailer home. She’s permanently haunted. Janice’s father has captured her partner, and all she can do is call him repeatedly, begging him to come back. With two episodes of Barry remaining, Sally is left alone in her cage to care for John. Does she head back to her hometown to complete the cycle? Or will she return to the city of dreams to find Barry and maybe accomplish the only thing she wants to be in this world? Either way, Sally might not realize it, but she’s already played the role of a lifetime now. It’s wish fulfillment in the worst and most tragic possible way.

After seeing the first 3 episodes, I love this new season. Being a former TeamNathan, seeing him and Elizabeth start a romantic relationship is very exciting. Plus, all the characters have interesting backstories. I laugh when I see Bill trying to escape Rosemary. She's back to her volcanic self.Faith and Lily are adorable, as are Mike and Mei.
The show really does feel so fresh and exciting. I love it!
I'm going to combine all your other messages...
In episode 3, facing these ladies and the lovely Lily, Henry doesn't stand a chance (lol).
That was such a funny scene. Pushing Lily forward was a very smart tactic.
I think we'll finally find out a little more about the Canfields and Joseph in particular. Because in yesterday's episode, the arguments between Angela and Cooper (normal between brother and sister especially during adolescence) introduced the character of Joseph's brother. I'm sure he'll appear in a future episode.
I think it's so great that we're learning more about the Canfields. We know of some hardships they've faced in the past so it's nice to dig into their families some more. Yes, we do see Joseph's brother (or at least I assume it's him) later in the season!
I'm hoping that Jeannette's arrival will reveal more about Lucas and that Elizabeth (though no longer in love with him) will ask him why he lied to her about her during their relationship and engagement. I think this is more serious than Nathan hiding the truth about Fort Clay.
Yeah, I think that's definitely coming. He has some explaining to do about why he lied and never bothered to come clean to Elizabeth once they were officially together. I agree. While obviously upsetting for Elizabeth to know Jack took his place, Nathan had no control over that assignment. Lucas knew he was lying and has intentionally lied multiple times. Politics suits him.
My 2 favorite scenes from the beginning of this season: episode 2: Elizabeth saying "Maybeee" to Nathan about the surprise party, and of course, Elizabeth seeing Nathan shirtless in Mounty's office (so hot).
Erin's delivery of "maybe" was so great. I loved that moment too. The shirtless scene was amazing. I wasn't expecting it to happen then either so that was a nice little treat.

5:50 am
A purple shadow looming over a young girl who's wearing a green bracelet. Most prominent thing in the rain.
Faces blurred, everything is mixed. (Why are we seeing this? )
A voice is heard before it's fast ending came just like the voice
“oh ... Charlotte Emily! .... Why are you out in the rain...?” The purple shadow asked the girl (Charlotte? ... Charlie? ... If this is going where I think it is....)
“..huh?”Charlottelookedbehindher, asmileonherface. “Uncle Bill!”(....You knew him?)
‘Uncle Bill’ laughed at the silly nickname. But he doesn't really mind — “Do you need help going back in?” he asked with (FAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKEFAKE!!!) concern.
Charlotte just nodded, smile still on her face wiping her face (she would be lying if she wasn't crying at least a little bit, it was kinda rude to be locked out, and standing in the rain).
“Here..” Bill said as he outstretched his hand to her. ... Too long of an arm, but Charlotte didn't seem to care (...Don't. please don't.. dontdontdontdontdontdont...you can't).
“I know a short cut, that is away from those rude kids..” Bill said with reassurance.
A long and stuffy corner? Charlotte doesn't know what it's really called (or maybe she does but it was hard to remember it)..
“ooh... Maybe I forgot just how to get there...” Bill said as he suddenly lets go of Charlotte's hand. Well, he is getting older, so that makes sense. Her father's somewhat the same, so she doesn't mind! “Well.. I could always go and get your father.. surely he remembers more than I do!” (SHUT IT.)
That would be nice. She wonders how he's doing actually.. “Can you also ask him how he's doing? ..he doesn't really respond to me, Uncle..”
(........ I knew it........)
A swing. “....Sure, my niece....”
Startled "what are you doing"s and a small scream.
(I knew it. I knew it.)
“....No.. nonono.. no no NO!!”
“.... What a shame...” B ill said (I just know he's smiling. . .
B ast ard), while comforting Henry . “no.. no...”
Henry. Oh Henry.
“i... This... She... please. ...” choking on his words.
“this... this can't be real... my baby... ....please ....” Chanting like a beautiful melody (.. disgusting..)
“Please....” he repeated.
Henry kept on choking on his tears, looking like such a mess. “my baby... my sweet baby...” — “she.. she just..” — “she can't be... Just can't be.. my baby ....”
“no... Please .. William just tell me.. this isn't real . ...... Please ...”
“i can fix this.. please .... I.. please.. I can fix this”
Chanting and chanting. Pleading and pleading. For someone to desperately come back (how can she? And besides, check the robots Mr. Emily... Haven't you thought of that?)
Losing the ability to even say any more words he just.. wailed. And wailed, while his friend Will
Just hugged him. (... I hope he isn't remembering.... that time...)
Henry. | GREENHARE

It's time to rest, for you,
And for those you have
Carried in
Your arms
This ends.
For all of us.
End communication.

I love Paper Men so much 😍 I'm obsessed, your way of writing is incredible, above all, your characters are amazing, from the main ones to the secondary ones, you can tell that even the least important ones have a job and a backstory, like for example, Manda, since I read The comment talking about her story and her background has made me see her in a totally different way than I had before about her or, for example, Steph, I feel that she also has a story to tell, she is dying for Patrick's attention... ., and I also love the flash backs so much, especially when it comes to Victor and the chapter in which he and Evelyn talk about music. That chapter took me back to the 80s. I really liked it when there are small details like when Evelyn had Chickenpox All those little things make the story unique, especially the dialogues, for example with Patricio, are incredible so much that I have to reread them several times to theorize. They have told me, what is Patricio really thinking? or with Victor they are so adorable to see how different Evelyn and Victor are, that's why I'm dying to see more dialogues and conversations with Henry my favorite story with Henry is when Henry leaves the meeting about his expulsion and he and she talk about the teachers and Henry gives him a bill for a moment they stop arguing that was adorable I want more moments like that in conclusion your story is addictive 😍.
I promise there will be plenty of moments like the ones you described in future chapters. I love flashbacks. I love showing little glimpses of what these boys are like when nobody else is around.
With Vic and Evelyn, we see them revert back to their childhood selves a little bit. Their conversations are very playful. There's a lot of teasing, especially from Vic (that boy loves teasing Evelyn). And from moments like this, I think it becomes clear why Evelyn had such a crush on him when they were kids. Yeah, he could be a little mean and distant sometimes a lot of the time, but when Evelyn really needed him (like when she had chickenpox), Vic never hesitated to step up and take care of her. And he still does that.
With Henry, I think we see what Reggie meant when he said Henry's calmer when he's around Evelyn. Outside of flashbacks, that scene of them talking after Henry's expulsion hearing is probably the closest we're ever going to get to seeing what their relationship was like before things got messy between them. Although Henry is very reserved with his feelings, you can tell they have a lot of affection for each other. I love that Henry let Evelyn copy off his test when he saw her struggling in class. I love that he gave her the money for the shirt he destroyed. It proves that he's capable of the occasional thoughtful gesture. Their relationship isn't entirely one-sided. It's imbalanced for sure, but Henry does at least try to make an effort... sometimes.
And Patrick… well, I think I’ve talked about him so much I’m starting to sound like a broken record. I love writing his dialogue and his weird conversations with Evelyn. I think they have fantastic chemistry and I’m excited to further explore their bizarre relationship.

getting in on the fun because i only have few days left to wear my clown make up with pride.
as much as i would love to see a full confirmed tedbecca endgame, i am not the most confident in that happening at this point. and even though i might be a little bummed, i would be okay with them not going there so long as they really take the time to acknowledge just how fundamentally important these two have been to one another and give their relationship the attention it deserves in this last episode.
with that being said, i believe it would truly be a disservice to these two characters if we did not get an “i love you”. and before you write me off as tedbecca trash (i mean, i am but not the point) HEAR ME OUT. i don't NEED it to be in a romantic context at all. in fact, the one thing i keep coming back to that gives me quite a bit of comfort is how 30 rock handled jack and liz.
if tedbecca really is nothing more than platonic soulmates, they still deserve no less than what jack and liz got in their finale. which was honestly a beautiful scene that paid respect to the relationship between these two characters. that acknowledged how indispensable they had been to one another. that made me cry. and if they can do that on a show like 30 rock, that never took itself too seriously and was often irreverent about so many things, surely a show as earnest as ted lasso would do AT LEAST this.
what might this scene look like you ask? oh don't worry. i got you covered.
to preface: i like to think of it as a sort of hybrid of the 30 rock jack/liz finale scene and the fantastic beasts newt/tina scene before he gets on the boat all wrapped up in an airport scene because of course it is.
i am operating on the popular assumption that ted told rebecca at the end of the last episode that he is moving back to the states. and as such, some of the finale episode is focused on ted trying to have dedicated moments with each character as a way to say goodbye (ie. crown & anchor one last time with beard).
so i would think that for rebecca it would be their last biscuits with the boss. but due to plot reasons (maybe rebecca is off helping bex with her divorce or whatever that storyline is going to be), they are unable to get the timing right and that last moment never happens.
ted, taking a page out of doctor sharon’s book, decides he will at the very least write her a goodbye letter. he pairs it with a fresh box of biscuits, along with the recipe, and leaves it all with higgins to give her.
rebecca, however, does not take this as an acceptable send off. when presented to her, her expression is unreadable, but almost looks angry. she snatches the letter from higgins and marches out.
~airport scene~
ted is in the airport with henry (yes i decided he comes to london to see the last match and if this does not happen, i blame michelle). they are walking toward their gate.
rebecca: (spotting ted & henry) THEODORE LASSO!
her tone carries across the terminal. she sounds angry. ted’s head snaps up. he sees her almost immediately. he looks confused. rebecca continues making her way toward them. once she is almost in front of the two, ted leans down to henry.
ted: hey bud, why don't you go buy us a pretzel and i’ll catch up to you in a sec?
as ted is saying this he is searching his pockets for money. at the same time rebecca is already in front of them. her expression softens a little toward henry. she pulls out cash from her pocket.
rebecca: (handing henry the money) it’s on me.
henry examines the bill.
henry: this is a hundred pounds.
rebecca: and keep the change. (&take that doctor jacob)
henry looks to his dad for permission. ted just shrugs. henry takes this as the green light to go get his pretzel. he runs off contentedly. ted turns his attention back to rebecca whose expression has returned to angry.
rebecca: (holding up the letter) what the fuck is this?
ted: (still looking confused) did you read it?
rebecca: no i didn’t fucking read it. what the fuck is this?
it’s subtle, but her tone shifts from pure anger to anger laced with hurt.
ted: yeah, i’m sorry about that. i wanted to say your goodbye in person, but you were busy all day and then before i knew it i had to make like a tree and leave (looks up, sees rebecca is unamused. this is not the time for folksy wordplay) ...for my flight.
rebecca is still holding up the letter. this did not answer her question. ted takes the hint and continues.
ted: but i didn't want to go without saying anything so i wrote that and left it with higgy for when you got back.
rebecca nods. taking in what he is saying. she folds the letter into quarters. creasing it a couple times, mulling over her next words.
rebecca: (much softer now. but the hurt is still audible) did it ever occur to you that you’re not the only one who needs to say goodbye, ted?
comprehension finally dawns on ted. a contrite look crosses his face, but he stays silent. he knows she is not done speaking.
rebecca: because i cannot fathom the idea of you back in kansas not knowing exactly how much you have meant to richmond. and to me.
she gives a soft smile. he meets her eyes, wordlessly telling her she can go on.
rebecca: (somewhat pulling back from the moment) i hope it’s something you already know. so perhaps me making the point of saying this is a terrible waste of your time. and now that i’m thinking about it this whole dramatic airport chase is starting to feel a bit foolish. i’m sorry. i shouldn’t’ve––
ted: oklahoma.
ted has not broken his gaze the whole time. rebecca meets his eyes again, a little surprised at how quickly he cut her off. she nods.
rebecca: right. then. i’ll just say it. because this is something you of all people deserves to not only know but to hear.
beat.
rebecca: and it’s the best way i can properly express how profoundly important to me you have grown.
beat.
rebecca: so i’m just going to say it now.
longer beat. rebecca is struggling to say what she wants to say. her eyes are starting to grow glassy, but not quite tear-filled.
rebecca: i don't know why this is so difficult. what i am trying to say...
rebecca closes her eyes, trying to recapture the confidence she had at the start of the conversation.
ted: it’s okay. you don't have to. (simply) i love you, too.
rebecca’s eyes dart back open to meet ted’s. her expression is blank for a moment then she quickly pulls him into a hug (very truth bomb #1), which he immediately reciprocates. she hugs him a little tighter.
rebecca: i love you.
still in the hug, ted cracks a smile.
ted: hey. there it is.
they break apart. ted is still grinning. rebecca is wiping away a tear, but smiling as well.
ted: now that wasn’t so bad.
rebecca lets out a tear-filled laugh and lightly shakes her head ‘no’. she smiles back at him.
she wipes her eyes again, happy with herself that she was able to say what she wanted to say.
rebecca: well, then. off you pop!
rebecca gives him a nod, letting him know he can go back to his son. ted turns back toward henry. about halfway he stops and looks back at rebecca, who is still standing in the same spot. she gives him an encouraging smile and a small wave, which he returns.
once she sees ted has rejoined henry, rebecca smiles to herself, turns on her heel, and starts to leave.
henry: rebecca!
rebecca turns back at the sound of her name and sees henry running toward her, pretzel in hand. ted is jogging behind him.
henry: i wanted to say thank you.
rebecca: oh no need to thank me. you’re very welcome for the pretzel.
henry looks down at his pretzel.
henry: oh not that! well, thank you for that too, but i meant thank you for everything you've done for my dad. it made it a lot easier being away from him knowing he has nice people like you who care about him over here.
rebecca: (looking at ted) well he certainly does. (turning to henry) it was my pleasure, henry.
rebecca extends her hand to henry. they shake.
ted puts his hand on henry’s shoulder.
ted: come on, bud, we should get over to the gate and let rebecca head home.
henry: okay. we’ll see you tomorrow?
rebecca: (deeply confused) sorry, what’s tomorrow?
henry: the first digital biscuits with the boss, karlie kloss!
rebecca shoots ted a look. ted raises his hands in surrender and points to henry.
ted: all his idea. and only if you’re up for it. but we figured we could facetime you. even if it’s just once a week or once a month and––
rebecca: that sounds wonderful.
rebecca beams at ted and henry.
ted: good. well, we best be going. say goodbye.
henry: (waving while already turning away) bye, rebecca!
rebecca: bye, henry!
ted takes a step toward rebecca. he reaches for the letter that has been clasped in her hand this whole time. he undoes the extra folds she had nervously made, until it resembles how it looked when higgins first gave it to her (save for the additional creases).
ted presents it back to her.
ted: goodbye, rebecca.
rebecca: (carefully taking the still unopened letter) goodbye, ted.
they hold each other’s gaze for one beat longer. and then he is back with henry walking toward the gate. they don't look back again.
~cut to~ rebecca in the back of her car leaving the airport.
she is looking out the window, but redirects her gaze to the letter still in her hand. rebecca finally gives in and opens the letter.
she pulls out a piece of paper with a single sentence written on it. she rereads it a couple times over, smiling to herself: i think i’ll miss you most of all.
i was going to end it at off you pop. but i couldn’t resist giving henry the chance to interact with rebecca since we were robbed of this dynamic. i think i got a little off message along the way. well i hope you enjoyed this chaos anyway.
**bonus details for the shippers I left out of the scene: -when ted is searching his pockets for cash, he pulls out the green matchbook again -part of the reason this interaction can take place at all is because the flight had been delayed. due to weather. thunder and lightning.  -and as part of his thank you to rebecca, henry gives her another army man, so hers doesn’t get lonely. and he mistakenly calls it a green matchbook army man (ted politely corrects him, it is a matchbox army man, but the damage is done)

So not that anybody cares lol, but yesterday I watched Red, White and Royal Blue because it just came out and that’s just what you do, right? I will say in advance I haven’t read the book so I can’t speak to the accuracy of the film, only what I thought of it. I also will say that I’ve been watching Heartstopper for the first time this past week too, so that story is still very fresh in my mind and was while I was watching RWRB. I think it’s a fair comparison too because there ARE surface similarities at least: (l.e. one of the MCs is bisexual, they have to keep their relationship a secret, etc.) I have to say, though parts of the movie were enjoyable/cute, it was overall disappointing for me. I expected a lot more and it didn’t really deliver. Despite the film being about two adult men I feel the depth and maturity of the relationship between the teen MCs of Heartstopper was far better. I felt like this movie focused quite a bit on the physical side of things more between Alex and Henry and less on the emotional side. We got a handful of scenes where they were being emotionally open, (like the museum scene for instance where they dance) but I feel like we just don’t see enough of them going from frenemies to lovers. It feels like it all happens too fast so when Alex tells Henry he’s in love with him and Henry gets scared, it lessens the impact. I realize as a two hour movie that they were under time constraints and that Heartstopper benefits from being a tv show in that way with multiple episodes, but I still feel like the film should have used the time it did have better. The other thing I think Heartstopper does better is that it’s not afraid or embarrassed to focus wholeheartedly on the romance between Nick, Charlie, and the other characters. It’s very character driven rather than plot driven in that way, and it works because it makes the characters feel like real people. RWRB though, despite being billed as a romcom, didn’t focus enough I feel like on the love story, and this was mainly due to the scattered focus of the narrative.
The movie seems to be trying to be a romcom but the other storylines that aren’t Alex and Henry’s relationship are frankly, imho, boring. None of the other supporting characters are fleshed out enough for me to care about them so they feel a bit like props in every scene they’re in. Henry’s sister for instance gets very little screen time though she’s supposed to be arguably the most accepting and understanding person in Henry’s life. We also don’t see enough of the parental dynamics with either character. I’ve heard the book characters are more fleshed out but it seems they cut quite a bit of that. And I realize this is personal preference because I understand the storyline about his mom’s campaign IS in the book, but the whole political aspect of the story really was just uninteresting to me and also pretty unrealistic imho. I know some people had complaints that the book in their opinion wasn’t political ENOUGH, but as far as the movie goes I just wanted to watch a romance so the other stuff I tuned out tbh. I was looking for light entertainment and seeing Rachel Maddow on the news clips and the Texas victory rather than contributing to the realism of the story honestly just took me out of it and made it seem made-up because I couldn’t imagine that happening. The overall feel of the movie also felt like they were kinda not very generous with the budget with this film. There were a lot of shots that showed they weren’t really able to show a lot of exterior views like when it came to the palace for instance where Henry lives. We finally see a bit more of the inside of what I think is supposed to be Buckingham Palace near the end of the movie, but when they are supposed to step out onto the balcony we don’t actually see any people below, even though there is supposed to be a crowd, because they cut away. It just felt like they were trying to take shortcuts that were cheaper with filming wherever they could. I also have to say I felt like the chemistry between the two leads was a bit shaky, especially in the beginning. They seemed to become more comfortable as it went on but the beginning of the movie did kinda feel like two straight dudes pretending to be gay/bi for the film. I looked into the actors and couldn’t find anything conclusive but that was the impression I as a queer women felt while watching. It just didn’t feel super authentic. I do think Henry’s character seemed more believable to me and I think that’s in part because I think the dude who plays him is a better actor. I never really could warm to Alex personally all that much. As happy as I was to see Alex and Henry get together in the film, it’s no comparison to how I felt watching the buildup of Heartstopper’s romance. It was MUCH more satisfying to see Charlie and Nick grow from friends to lovers imho. All in all, the movie was kinda a let down for me. I prob won’t rewatch it and ultimately it was just not a film I was that invested in. 🤷‍♀️

since it's that time of the year again, do you have any christmas-themed headcanons?
I think Bill goes fucking HARD for Christmas like all out. His house is DECKED. I think Lizzie is the most excited about this. Nate doesn't like the bright lights and Mikey's more into celebrating Hanukkah with his mum tho I can see him spending Christmas at his dad's with his siblings cus family bonding. Bill also spends waaaaay too much on presents for his kids.
Henry does smaller things I think him and Charlie have a tradition where they make a little Christmas dinner for them both colabrativly :] Charlie loooves making mince pies. Henry tends to hand-make all of Charlie's gifts (for Christmas or otherwise). He's probably loaned money from Bill at least once to get her something fancier though.
Freddy's is always decorated for Christmas though always has been. They give Fredbear a little santa hat and everything it's great.

What is "Filler?"
I'm ignoring my many school obligations to make a post about something that I'm very passionate about and has been on my mind for a while.
A discussion I've seen around television lately, especially sparked in the case of The Last of Us, is the use of "filler" in television, or at least, what people perceive as filler.
As someone who is highly interested in television writing, and one day hopes to be apart of a writers room, I have a lot of strong opinions regarding the idea of "filler," why people have the wrong idea of what filler actually is, and why "filler" might actually good for television, and part of what makes television, television.
Filler is an anime specific term
For starters, filler is a term that originated with anime. But specifically, it's a term used to describe any arc that isn't in the manga. This was most prolifically used in the Naruto anime. While the anime was waiting for more issues of the manga to come out, they would quite literally fill time by using non-canon filler episodes. Filler got a bad rep due to the low visual and narrative quality compared to canon material.
Of course, the term has been bastardized outside of its original definition to simply mean any television episodes that people deem "unimportant" to what they consider to be the main plot of the series, and given the negative history surrounding filler, any episodes like this are therefore seen as bad.
Character is Plot
The reason why people may perceive an episode as being "filler" is because it may include a plot that is not pushing the main storyline forward. I saw a tweet recently about The Last of Us episode 7 and how this episode is perceived as filler, therefore bad. The episode includes backstory for the character Ellie, which steers away from the present story at hand.
Here's the thing though, the episode was important to the development of Ellie's character and revealing more of her motives. In the present plot line, we see how determined she is to help Joel after he is injured, and the show uses a backstory to show us exactly why Ellie is so determined to save the people that she loves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plot is driven by character. Characters are developed through their actions. Any stories used to develop character is not "filler," it's part of the plot.
To hammer in my point I'll use a show that is pretty widely regarded: Avatar the Last Airbender. The main storyline, people would argue, involves Avatar Aang learning to bend the four elements to defeat the Firelord. Now, let's imagine ATLA without any of the episodes that would be considered "filler"— that means no "The Beach," no "Tales of Ba Sing Se," no "The Puppet Master," none of some of the most iconic episodes of the series. But I know what you're thinking, all of those episodes are important to the story! That's because they are! There isn't any big action moments in these episodes, at least in terms of the plot of taking down the Fire Lord, but they all push the development of the characters forward and thus are very important episodes.
Theme is Plot
Let’s look at another example from The Last of Us, episode 3.
This episode got a lot of flack for the same reasons listed above (although some people are also just homophobic) because it was an episode that “took away from the main plot of the series.”
What is TLOU about? It’s a show about a man who brings a girl cross country during the zombie apocalypse to find a cure, but more than importantly, it’s a show about saving the people that you love. That’s the main plot. We see this with Joel and Ellie, we see this with Henry and Sam, and we see this Bill and Frank. Each of these plot lines help reinforce this theme as well as flesh out the world. It’s not a “filler” episode because it reinforces the main theme of the show, thus is does have “plot”relevance.

Why Has Television Structure Changed So Drastically?
The answer is streaming and the rise of binge model.
That isn’t to say that ~13 episodes and fewer seasons didn’t exist before the advent of streaming, nor did episodic series cease to exist once the binge model rose to popularity. However, the binge model is absolutely to blame for the rise in shorter and shorter seasons with hardly any standalone episodes becoming more popular.
Basically, binge model television is written with the idea that the audience member is going to be consuming the entire season in one go, and weekly episode structure is written with the idea in mind that the audience member may only be consuming a little bit of the larger story once a week. Thus, binge model television seasons tend to feel more like longer movies, while episodes in weekly television shows feel much more individualized.
For me personally, I greatly prefer the weekly model. The reason being is because it forces the individual episode to be stronger. It can’t rely on the episodes before or after it to make it good, it has to stand on it’s own two legs and tell it’s own contained and compelling story, even if its still part of an overarcing story.
Do I think binge model is all bad? No, not necessarily, I think it works great for some shows, but can also become a hinderance for others.
My blog is pretty much a Stranger Things blog, so I’ll use it as an example. In my opinion, the first season of ST is perfectly written. It’s the perfect number of episodes at the perfect length for what it wanted to achieve. There are no loose ends, everything is tied together, and there's still a little wiggle room for extra seasons. If there had been an extra episode that told a standalone story, it would have broken up the flow of the season.
The subsequent seasons of the show attempt to use a similar episode format, all while simultaneously wanting to build the scope and stakes of the story as well as increase the number of characters. The side effect of this, which is especially apparent in season 3, is that the show began to feel cramped and the story and characters barely have any room to breathe. The action is constantly moving and the appropriate story beats are all there, but with the wide breadth of characters that needed to fit into the season, a lot of them end up feeling sidelined or undeveloped in order to squeeze everything in.
But I don't necessarily think the answer is just longer episodes, either. This is what season 4 of the show did to remedy the congestion of the previous season, but the issue became that the episodes felt bloated and the story beats become way too stretched out. An easy example is the Russia subplot, which took way too long in order for its story beats to play out.
Am I saying that Stranger Things needs to completely change, and become a 20 episode season with filler? No. The answer is complicated, while I do feel the story is cramped, I still understand that there is still intention behind these writing choices, and the story would be different from what it is now if the episode structure was different. I also don't want it to seem like I'm trying to claim that I myself am a better writer and that I would be able to do a better job myself. I just can’t help but wonder if the attitude towards insistence of keeping with the “main plot” of the story which may have worked in one season of the show ended up becoming a hinderance in later seasons.
Conclusive Thoughts
There’s more I could say on this topic and many more examples that I could bring up, but I’ll just leave my thoughts with this.
“Filler” is not necessarily bad. Any episode can be poorly written, but just because it doesn’t have A-plot relevance doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Most “filler” actually isn’t filler at all.
Anything that develops character has plot relevance.
Anything that develops theme has plot relevance.
Some of the best episodes of television would be considered “filler” in this new binge climate.
More television shows (not all, but some) could actually benefit from having episodes that would be considered “filler.”
What makes television so special and such a great storytelling medium is the ability to be told in a serialization of smaller stories, something that should not be lost with the binge model.

Gordon Ranch AU headcanons
main post
Playlist
headcanons for my version of Gordon in my human ranch ttte au! And other stuff. I'll probably re-edit this in the morning lmao.
He's a city boy (son of the famous Sir Nigel Gresley) that moved to the country to get away from the wild life of showbiz. He still likes to show off though- hence why he runs an "Express" service to take visitors and locals alike from one side of the island to the other. It's actually decently fast and reliable, to most people's surprise.
He kind of figured out Henry has some relation to him, but didn't really think too hard about it and assumed he was just some distant relative because he has A Lot of those. He finds out that Henry is actually more related to him then he thought after Gordon himself went to the hospital for a broken arm and a nurse asked if he and Henry were brothers. Gordon came back to the ranch and didn't speak to anyone for three days while he processed, and Henry contemplated if it was worth requesting to be transferred to the other side of the ranch but have to deal with Bill and Ben. (He decided getting stared at by Gordon was more manageable.)
He's very overprotective of his family, new or old, after most of his family [eedacted] [redacted] [redacted]. Thomas thinks it's holalrious watching Gordon following Scott's every move, until Thomas himself finds himself ont he recieving end after complaining that he almost slipped on some very slick mud.
He's not great at keeping in touch, but Scott doesn't mind taking th initiative to give his dear big brother a call every now and then, and it's a highlight of both their days.
Gordon is vey strong-minded, and in the early days of the NWR, he fought and bickered with Thomas all the time. They made up after a [eedacted] incident, and Gordon considers it the best move he'd made since Thomas helped him avoid the first Sir Topham Hatt's wraith. In return, Gordon sometimes helped Thomas, who was head stable hand at that time, with stable chores.
Gordon was a bit apprehensive when he first met Donald and Douglas, since all twins in his experience (read: Bill and Ben) were nothing but trouble. He finally came around after finding out how helpful they were, and then regretted his decision to trust them after they duct taped his shoes to the floor after he boasted his cart could go faster then theirs with the same load of goods.
He once helped North get a job outside the family ties. He claims he hasn't heard from him in years, but every so often he'll get a card or letter and mysteriously have a better mood for a few days.
He likes to work out, if not for the fitness then to flex on everyone else.
He's not good at dodging the tabloids. More then once his face has appeared on the cover, with everything from "Oldest Gresley son a REBEL???" To "Gordon Gresley: Working Against His Will???" The others find it funny. Gordon thinks they have a strange sense of humor when he has to constantly tell gossipy tourists that he's perfectly happy working on a ranch, thank you very much.
When Scott visits, it's twice as bad, and Gordon comes close to punching a tabloid journalist or camera person more then once for invading his privacy. At some points the others take pity on him and the Scottish twins manage to scare off the majority of the tabloids long enough to give the brothers some much-needed bonding time.
He believes in a healthy diet of cheese, potato chips, granola bars, and the occasional apple. Duck is horrified.
He also finds all of Henry's pets minus the squirrels very cute. He personally gets attached to a cow that he and Henry take turns feeding.
He tries to run a marathon at least once a year starting when Duck joins the ranch and he can afford to take time off to travel to the race. He does decently well, but has never come first. He came close once, but was beaten out when his shoe fell off and he cut his food on sharp stone.
He wears contacts that make his eyes look blue, but his eyes are actually a bright (apple) green. This is a secret he will never let the media see over his dead body.
And of course, mandatory piccrews (Artist links will be added as I go back through my search history, but they're all not my art)

SONG SONG SONG SONG
tell me what you mean by angela is jane ives pleaseee
EHEHHEHEHEHE MY BAYBEE ANGELA IVES
BASICALLY this revolves around
When El was trying to become Jane, she used Angela as her inspiration.
The real Jane Ives (or at least the girl Terry thought was hers who she flashed back to- I believe that this IS Jane bc how else did Terry find her and because El's birth memory does not match Terry's) is blonde and wore normie clothes. While it is possible she was moved to the Gown Facility, likely, in fact, based on a convo in NINA, her hair color would not change all the way to dark brown in the consecutive four years necessary to become Killer Ellie, aka the El we see at the very END of NINA who was the HNL Murderer. Since Jane is not Killer Ellie, she can't be El since El's initial flashback is of Killer Ellie pre-NINA
As a blonde (via flashback), Jane Ives is likely El's "opposite" like when Will's eyes changed to symbolize his new personality, or the Blonde Mother pattern, and any number of inter-timeline hair/eyes clues of that nature. Angela fits the bill as an opposite since she is popular and a bully.
Angela likely developed her bullying patterns because of trauma, and I realized that it lines up with the lab, ie: wanting to be the teacher's favorite, so much so that she is paralleled to 002
As @/henrysglock so kindly pointed out to me, Angela's outfit is the inverse of El's. She wears a ring on the opposite finger, a watch not a hairband, same hairstyle as El but with a high pony, etc.
Angela is weirdly obsessed with Hopper. The writers chose for El's school project to be about Hopper, and for Angela to pick on her for this project not once but twice, AND for Angela to bring up Hopper again at the Rink-O-Mania. She then targets El's lack of this supportive father- and I believe this is because whoever adopted Angela isn't like him, or because they are and she feels insecure in maintaining her situation thereof. Either way, growing up with a Brenner and losing Kali make her fixate on someone like Hopper, who El specifically says protected her, a fact Angela points out at the rink.
Angela and Troy, are like, the only bullies who don't get backstory. HOWEVER, Troy got a scene with his mother in ST1, which is already more exposition than Angela, plus if he's actually on the basketball team, then he might get screentime next szn. If Angela is accrual the outlier here, what was the reason? /rhetorical
The fuckin angst potential. I'm biased as fuck and I admit it. Not only that but the narrative potential. The whole point of timeline theory within a show who's meta is about the cycle of abuse and bigotry? The whole Multi Henry thing is meant to show how variables can affect outcome- ie: some Henrys become Vecna. SOME older brothers become like their fathers and others don't. This carries over to SOME Ellies kill more than others (including our lovely leading lady, whose arc about accepting her supposed monstrosity as a part of a whole is looking suspiciously complete) and SOME Ellies become Angelas.
ANGEL. HER NAME HAS FUCKIN ANGEL IN IT. As we know, as "Angel" is the person whom the memory of brings a Curse victim back to reality via the victim's will to live. Victor's Angels are his family members, and Max's are- get this, Lucas and El and her wider friend group. Not only this, but Max sang Madonna's "Angel" in El's bedroom in ST3. I'm not sure what the implication quite is here, if it's more than "She's an alternate timeline version of a girl who is somebody's angel", but I think it had to mean SOMETHING.
I THINK that's all for right now. I'm still kinda obsessed though
ALSO WELCOME BACCK

Thoughts on the official trailer for “HBO’s The Last of Us”:
1) Uh…“Take on Me” is certainly an interesting song choice. Didn’t really like the way it was used in the trailer. And slowing it down didn’t make it feel any less silly. Also, that’s a love song, if you’re going to choose a pop song for your trailer, why not go with one about fathers and daughters? Something like Pearl Jam’s “Daughter”.
2) I’m more convinced that the show will take the “Uncharted” approach to the source material, which is also the “Walking Dead” approach. The game is still the foundation of the series, but the series definitely feels like a partial reimagining of the story.
3) The casting really makes a HUGE difference in how the story is coming off. In the game, you get the feeling that Joel could be Ellie’s dad since they look like they can be related. In the show, it’s pretty obvious that Joel isn’t Ellie’s dad, creating more of a divide. That said, I do like that divide since it emphasizes that Joel is some dude who grew to care about Ellie. Sarah was his true daughter, Ellie is the girl he adopted.
4) The overall show at least looks like the game. Still up in the air about the execution, but the trailer does look good at least.
5) Since there are only 10 episodes in this season, I’m assuming that the first two episodes will be Tess, episode 3 is Bill, episodes 4-5 are Henry and Sam, episode 6 is reconnecting with Tommy, episode 7 is when Joel gets injured, episodes 8-9 are David and Riley Abel, and episode 10 is the hospital massacre.

🏳️‍⚧️On Misgendering🏳️‍⚧️ - ⚠️I Would Really Appreciate It If The Non-Trans Folks Would Stop To Read This⚠️
TW/CW: Transphobia/Transantagonism themes and all (and I do mean ALL) the awful and horrible things that go along with it are discussed - such as suicide, death, misgendering, deadnaming, assault, anti-trans bills, etc. Please make sure to look to the tags for more.
So, due to the fact that there are literally SO MANY anti-trans bills that have been introduced across the country (The United States of America) and CONTINUE to be introduced across the country that seeks to block us trans folks from receiving the most basic of healthcare, education, legal recognition, and just the right to exist publicly, I feel the need to talk about this very real issue that seems to be considered a “small issue” to some folks:
Misgendering.
To some, it might seem like something small - a slip up here, a small issue there…and I am here to tell you that it is not. It is NOT a small issue to misgender a trans person. Ever. Even if it is by necessity (I say this because sometimes, I need to be misgendered for the sake of not confusing one of my relatives who has memory issues, for example - or if the trans person isn’t out of the closet just yet).
But, when it isn’t necessary to misgender someone, like in the rare cases like the examples that I just gave, then you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE MISGENDERING THEM. This is especially true if you have known about them being trans and about what their pronouns are and what their name is for an extended period of time.
Some folks are also given a grace period to learn pronouns. This is very much true, even, for “They/Them” pronouns because for some folks, those ones can be hard for folks to wrap their brains around even though, technically, singular they/them has been around since 1375 at least - so over 600 years old. It was being used as a singular pronoun by famous writers such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Henry James, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. (I have not provided a source for this because you can easily find this information if you search via any search engine for “when was singular They first used”.)
So…I’m sorry folks, but there is really no good reason for folks to be getting their panties into such a twist over using “they/them” as a singular pronoun for folks…at all. And at the end of the day, if it IS an issue, there is a lot of educational material out there to help learn how to use “they/them” as a singular pronoun when referring to someone. Plus, if nothing else, you can always practice on your own in order to get the hang of it. That way, when you are talking to the person, or about the person with someone else, you wont run the risk of misgendering them on accident.
You could even write about them in a journal - that’s always good practice too (I am literally giving free advice here - please take this advice, I am BEGGING YOU). All that I, as a trans person, am asking here is for the non-trans folks, the Cis folks (and Cis is NOT a slur for folks who think that it is - all it means is “the same side of” and in this case, it just means that you identify as the gender that you were assigned to at birth; that’s all) to be better allies to us trans folks.
Because we need you now, more than ever before. We need you by our side right now. We really do. Because we are out here suffering, scared, feeling so very alone.
And dying. A lot of us are dying.
And do you know what else contributes to our deaths?
Misgendering.
It does. It really does. Because do you know what Misgendering does to us?
It makes us feel like you do not see us for who we are. It makes us feel like you do not care. Like as if we are a joke to you. As if we do not matter. As if our existence doesn’t matter. And it makes us feel as if our worth in this world, our struggle, means nothing. As if all of our battling through it all was meaningless.
And then, the next thing you know, another dead trans person ends up on the news…gone far too soon…
I almost lost one of my trans siblings, who will remain nameless because I want to protect their identity, because one of their family members refuses to gender them correctly, among other things…but Misgendering contributed to them almost being lost to this world.
They’re very lucky to still be here with us. I’m extremely relieved and happy that they’re still here.
So…This is one of the many reasons why if you do “slip up” with our pronouns and/or our names, we or someone around us who does know our correct pronouns and/or name will most likely correct you. And, if you are corrected? It is generally best to not get defensive about it. If you do get defensive about it, do you know what that does? It shifts the blame onto us - making it seem like it’s somehow OUR fault for being difficult or something when no, it isn’t our fault. It isn’t really the “fault” of anyone, really - all that this means is that you just need more practice in recognizing and/or remembering our correct pronouns and/or name.
So, a better reaction would simply be “Oh, thanks -“ then proceed to use the correct pronouns and/or name and continue on with whatever it was that you were saying. It’s as simple and quick as that. It doesn’t need to be a big show and dance, it doesn’t need to be a huge deal - it’s as simple as that, and we can move right along. And all it means is that a little more work needs to happen on your end.
Literally EVERYONE messes up at first - we all have messed up before, no one is perfect, we are all human. I’ve had to practice correct pronouns and names before - I’m sure everyone has had to before - especially neo-pronouns. Those ones can be hard for me sometimes, especially because my mouth doesn’t want to form the words properly sometimes so I actually have to practice as if I’m learning a new language or something. But, I do eventually get the hang of it.
Matter of fact, for folks who may want extra practice with names and pronouns, here is a great resource for practicing such a thing called the 🏳️‍⚧️Pronoun Dressing Room:
I need for the Cis folks to understand something: Misgendering IS IN FACT a form of Transphobia - Transantagonism. It is a form of violence towards us trans folks. Whether you realize it or not, that is EXACTLY what it is.
So is Deadnaming us. Even if you knew what our name was before we changed it, constantly Deadnaming us - unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY - is a form of violence towards trans people and can ALSO contribute to our deaths.
I’ve lost so many of my trans siblings over the years…so many trans friends…
So many…
I do not want to lose more. But I know I will…do you want to know why?

Right now. That’s where we are at…RIGHT. NOW.
So…where are my Cis allies at? What are you willing to do for us? It better not just start and stop at the voting booths at with the voting papers. It better not just stop there. Because trans folks are going to need your voices. Your actions. Your protection. We’re going to need you to speak up at town halls. We’re going to need you in the streets. We’re going to need you to say something if we are being attacked in front of you in the store, in the mall, on the sidewalk, outside your church, in the parking lot.
And what if it’s a cop? Would you be willing to step in if a cop decided that just by existing while trans was a crime, would you speak up for us?
Remember that once upon a time, it was LEGAL to round up and take into custody people for just being of Japanese descent in this country…so, as both a Japanese American AND a trans person, I ask you, Cis people:
What are YOU willing to do for us? How far are you willing to go for us? If you are our allies…how much are you willing to risk for us? If you ARE our allies…I, and every single trans person that you know and are close to, every single gender non-conforming person in your life needs for you to consider these things very VERY seriously.
Because I promise you…all of us, every single one of us are thinking about this every single second of every single day. Many of us are considering our “out plans”. Not because we want to…but because we HAVE to…and some of us have to consider if we even CAN (because being disabled ABSOLUTELY plays a factor if we can even leave the country).
So…Please…Cis folks…if you consider yourself to be an ally to the Trans Community…and if you have ever been wondering “when will be a good time for me to prove myself?”…now is the time. This is that time. We need you. Please be here for us. Check in on us. Please gender us correctly. Name us correctly. Please help us fight these horrific life-destroying bills. Please help us to be able to just exist.
Because that’s all that we want…we just want to exist. We just want to exist and to live our lives in peace, just like everyone else on this planet…
This is my plea…and I pray to HaShem that it will not go unheard…
