I got too excited so you can have this year's oc-tober art prompts!

IMPORTANT! It has been brought to my attention that this years mistake is me writing the word ritual twice, once on the 2nd and once on the 23rd, so to combat this, please use the first ritual as something the oc does on a daily basis and the second one as an actual ritual, I deeply apologise for any confusion this may cause 😔

Rated T (I think? I’m terrible at ratings. There’s a definite possibility it would be G but I don’t want to put that just in case… someone who knows how to rate please help me! 😂)

Steve knew he wasn’t the smartest. That wasn’t news to him. He knew he was just the brawn, the battering ram, the shield.

It’s fitting, then, that the one who took the most damage would be the one to break first. The first thing someone sees is the first thing they’ll go after.

And, well… Steve spent a lot of time ensuring he was first.

All that didn’t help, of course, as he felt like he was being tracked in his own house, a predator stalking him through the vents, walls, windows.

He didn’t hear the back door open, but felt the shift in air pressure. “Make it quick,” he murmured, begged, shutting his eyes and bracing.

He opened them again when he heard a chuckle. He whirled around and gasped. “Eddie?”

“Pretty thing,” Eddie hummed, cocking his head. “Eddie’s not here.”

“Then who are you?”

He cocked his head the other way. “I am Kas,” he said. “Servant to Vecna, ruler of his armies.”

“Why are you here?”

Kas chuckled. “To destroy you, of course. You and all your friends. Suck your blood from your veins and your marrow from your bones until you are naught more than the dust from which you were wrought.”

Steve made a face. “A little wordy.”

Kas shifted, and suddenly in his place stood Eddie, pouting. “I thought it was good.”

“It is good,” Steve promised. “But this isn’t one of your campaigns, babe, this is Halloween.” Eddie rolled his eyes, and Steve shivered. “And go take out those contacts, they’re giving me the creeps.”

“Oh thank God,” Eddie said, “they’re itchy as hell,” and ran down the hall to the bathroom.

When he walked back out, Steve was in the kitchen, making them lunch. “Y’know we’re gonna have to get El in on this before she blasts you against the wall first and asks questions second.”

“Way ahead of ya, babe,” Eddie chuckled, wrapping his arms around Steve’s waist, nuzzling at his neck. “She and Hop are both already in on it.”

“Do you think the kids are gonna hate us?”

Eddie hummed. “It’s possible. I’m calling it payback for all the times the little shits got into trouble and needed us to bail them out.”

Steve chuckled. “Good reason.” He flinched as Eddie scraped his teeth against his neck. “Christ, Eds,” he muttered. “You a real vampire now or what?”

Eddie chuckled darkly, flicked out the fake teeth with his tongue, and sealed his lips against Steve’s neck. He finally pulled back to murmur, “I wanna suck somethin’, baby, but it’s not your blood.”

“You’re an animal,” Steve replied, maneuvering himself around in Eddie’s arms to face him before pulling him closer in a fierce kiss.

He bit at Eddie’s lip before soothing it with his tongue, reaching behind himself to turn the stove off.

“Bedroom?” He asked, pulling back.

“Bedroom.”

As we know black cats are an essential part of the spooky season as well as an essential part of everyday life! So in honor of that, I made a prompt list dedicated to one of my favorite black cats Salem Saberhagen, who in my opinion had some of the most iconic dialogue in TV history!

OC-tober Day 5: Relationships

oc's: Dimitri and Pence

The constant, quiet music of bugs chirping into the humid summer night was the only companion to the crackle of the fire that Dimitri was keeping stoked. The scent of food still lingered softly, and the tiny bones of the fish Pence had caught earlier in the evening for their dinner sat to the side, discarded.

There wasn't much else to do, and they'd likely both turn in for the night soon. But despite this, Pence was anxious. It had been over a year of them traveling together now, and every day he became more worried that she'd needle out his secret. And then he'd lose the only person who'd ever cared about him..

So lately, he had taken to asking her the occassional mild question, or presenting a hypothetical when faced with a specific situation. Like a test, prodding how well she reacted. Part of him didn't want to address it right now, but..

"You don't always have to handle the fire," he brought up, and he knew he'd caught her attention by the way Dimitri's fingers twitched around the prod. "I know you don't have fond memories.."

The only thing that met his ears was the sound of her scoffing, but the sweet notes of her voice were unable to make any negative emotion rise in him. He knew she wasn't being mean, simply intending to brush aside his worries.

"I can manage a camp fire, Penny. Don't worry." But she notably went quiet as she picked at the middle, where the embers sizzled. It would die soon, if more wood wasn't added. Time to bite the bullet.

"Do you still.. I mean, I know it's been a long time now, but would you ever.."

This isn't what I wanted to ask, he thought to himself as he watched Dimitri's head turn towards him. Her big, ruby red eyes glowed brightly in the firelight. He had never felt more like prey than when he was under her gaze. But he had never quite been as okay with that, either. If anyone was to devour him whole, he wanted it to be her. No matter what kind of pretense it was under.

To his surprise, she shifted a little closer to him on the felled tree they sat on, resting her head on his shoulder. He held his breath. Her eyes drifted shut, chest raising and falling slowly. For a long time he wondered if she was asleep. Enough time certainly passed to validate his pondering.

"I try not to think about it," she started, her voice a low murmur. The sound of the night around them almost drowned it out.

"I try not to think about him. Or love, in general. I don't know where life will take me from here on out, or what will happen on my journey. But right now.." He felt one of her soft hands settle over his own. They were so much warmer than his.

"I don't need anything else."

Pence swallowed thickly. His hand curled delicately around her own before he let his head rest against hers.

He had to agree. He didn't need anything else either.
