You know the christian centrist horror movie be like; OOOHH THE EVIL PAGAN AND NON CHRISTIAN SACRIFICING ANIMALS FOR RITUAL, WITCHCRAFT WITCHCRAFT. HOW OUR BRAVE CHRISTIAN HEROES SHALL DEFEAT THIS EVIILLL
OOHHH THIS REMOTE PAGAN COMMUNITY SEEMS NICE BUT THEY ARE ACTUALLY BABY EATING MONSTER WHO WILL SUMMON DEMON FROM OUR BIBLE OOOHHHHHH
people in the west would like to believe they are free from this middle age mentality but no, look at how many horror movie using that trope. I mean look at Midsomar or the exorcist
even something like Van Helsing, seems like the ambition of christian domination still very much alive but more subtle than y'know conquering another 'heretical' countries
ps. i have no problem with decent and progressive christian people

It has been a long time since I posted something personal, but I need to vent a little.
My christian family (mainly father’s sides, him included) KNOWS that I don’t believe in anything, yet given the minimal opportunity, they will try to convince me to “talk with god” just in case I ever miraculously gain faith. They say things like this:
“Oh, cobul, so you are stressed with college exams? why don’t you try talk to god? You will feel release!”
“So you’re worried about [insert ANY topic]? I know you don’t believe in anything but please! Pray for god! Or at least do it for me”
Like, if it was just a few times? No problem, I understand it is their set of beliefs or whatever. But because of the frequency of it happening in this last year, it’s becoming really off putting, honestly. I swear, one of these days I’m going to snap and tell them to fuck off. If they wanted me to believe in god, maybe, just maybe, they shouldn’t have sent me to a laic school where we studied history of religions (a class where we were taught about the biggest religions worldwide in the most aseptic way).
It’s kinda funny, they me gave free will and didn’t make me join a catechism group while I was younger because they thought that I would somehow choose Christianity when I became an adult. These were my fathers words, a few years ago:
“A kid cannot fully understand what a religion is and what it compels, and should not be indoctrinated in one. Believing in god should be a conscious decision, not something coming from a compulsory habit”-.
Taking in account that my father and his siblings were brought up in a traditional christian family, it’s to be expected that they think of Christianity as the default and the best, despite them being more liberal than my grandparents, I think they failed to realize that giving me freedom of choice could also mean that there was a chance of me not becoming christian. That or they overestimated their persuasion or faith power to convert someone. As a more tongue-in-cheek comment, maybe they thought that at least I would believe in something, which would be easier to work with for them, probably.
All in all, at least they’re not TOO homophobic and my father accepts my homosexuality way better than my lack of faith.
Sorry for the long post, I know it’s an oddly specific situation what Im talking about, but thanks for reading, in case this reaches anyone. (Also sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes, I’m not a native speaker, so feel free to correct me).

It's so ridiculous when social media plataforms censor people advocating against violence towards queer, non-white, non-christian or disabled people when we call someone who is a nazi, a nazi.
These assholes say that they care about minorities but nah, they don't care and we all know they don't, they just play the safe "woke and inclusive" card and censor these kinds of discusions under the guise that they are "offensive" when I don't see how calling a person who encourages violence against marginalized groups what they are, a disgusting nazi, is offensive.
If anyone is to decide what is harmful or what is not it's us, not them.

I hadn't been to a Christian church since the 90's and my very Catholic grandmother in law "finds this out for the first time" the week of Easter.
Surely, I thought, it is obvious I am Pagan. That her grandson is agnostic. We had nothing even remotely Christian involved in the wedding. He basically hates holidays that aren't feasts. I have a little fey garden squeezed into our tiny second floor apartment. I've got All One Wicca on the bookshelf prominently next to a bound copy of the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution, our photo album, and an encyclopedia of national parks. We show up to hers for Christmas because we are invited, but none of the decorations in my home have anything to do with Jesus and I know I have said to her face "We have Yule on the 21st at my parent's home" when coordinating holiday schedules.
Did she think we just didn't invite her to the baptism that we never had? What is in this woman's mind? She's an absolute queen of gaslighting and I feel like maybe this is more of that and not, perhaps, genuine.

Yes, the child is fine to go hunt eggs and go pet bunnies. We have our own narrative we spin for Ostara - which was last month, but at this age time has no meaning and we've just learned what Spring is.

Content Warning: religion and transphobia⚠️
Happy Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ I made a comic reflecting on my church upbringing as an eXvangelical trans person. The Jesus conservative Christians claim to represent looked lot more like many of the LGBTQ+ friends I know and love. Just some food for thought 💖

So I live in an area where the gyms are all expensive so I've been working out with whatever I have. One of my makeshift tools is a bag full of books that I lift. Well, I was going through the books and:

If you've ever wondering what it's like being a Quaker but specifically being a Quaker in my brain I have a moment about 2-3 times a day minimum where ill be doing something random and probably fun or quiet (or not, maybe it's really loud) and my thoughts and such will stop dead in their tracks and I will take a hard 180° and start to think about how there's this light inside every human that makes them inherently interesting and beautiful and equal and good, or how silence comes from all around us and the joy of just sitting in the sunlight of creation, or how people are some of the most beautiful things to ever exist and how grateful I am to get to experience us, or the importance and wonder of the natural world and all of creation and the necessity of fighting to protect it, or how queer people are holy and sacred in our own little ways or the injustices of the world and how oppressively horrible they are but also that that's why hope and fighting and seeing a better world is so important.
And on and on and on. And then I'll go back to like making brownies or doing maths homework or something.

From what I can see, all the commentary on the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie thinks this story is trying to answer its philosopical questions, and completely overlooking the fact that all the answers these characters find are the wrong ones. The right answer is in The Hunger Games and Catching Fire and Mockingjay. You can tell because the main character of this story is the villain in the other ones.

Okay I'm curious: I've seen a lot of Christians use/refer to the phrase "hosanna in the highest!" which is used in the New Testament and I've frequently heard it pronounced "hoh-ZAHN-ah". However, it's a much older liturgical phrase in Hebrew and definitely not pronounced like that. I want to know: (1) were you taught the actual meaning of this word by your community/do you know what it actually means without googling it, (2) what variety of Christian are you, and (3) if, after googling it, were you correct?
Sorry fellow yidden and other non-Christians; this poll is specific to people who identify as Christian and/or who were raised as such. (Edit: gerim who were raised Christian can vote, but you have to base it off of what you were taught as a Christian, not what you know now.)
Christians who answer: if you googled this after voting yes and were taught wrong about it, please let me know in the notes.
(If you're wondering if you "count" as Christian or having been raised as such, for these purposes I would say interpret it broadly to include anyone who views Jesus as the messiah and grew up reading the New Testament as part of your bible.)
