SAGAU: A Rumor Spreads
Forewarns: Female reader, real self indulgent shit, not cult au or imposter au, reader is a virgin, reader is soft and feminine, ok honestly this is straight up virginity kink I'm going call it what it is lol, Kazuha having a bittt of a corruption kink, Wanderer's section turned out really romantic? lol, this bit isn't 18+ but future chapters might be, Cyno on his knees for us👀, Xiao yearning hard,
AO3
Kazuha - Cyno - Xiao - Heizou - Zhongli - Childe - Wanderer - Maybeeee Lyney and Albedo
“Ei I’m thinking of planning a girls only getaway at an Inazuma hot springs? Would you and Yae Miko like to help me out?”
The two are immediately beaming and receptive to the idea. Any chance for you to spend more time in Inazuma is quickly snatched up. As you sit with the two lovely ladies, planning out who to invite, where to host the outing, you explain to them that you’d rather keep this event private. If word got around(especially to the other nations) that you were holding an exclusive get together in Inazuma(at an hot springs no less) you’re afraid some nosy guests might try to peep in on the conversation. The two swear to you they’ll keep their lips shut but as your invites go out rumors just tend to spread. Now every woman in the nation of eternity would love to attend this private get away, just to get an opportunity to speak to you their goddess one on one. And of course there are those with a little more devious intentions of seeing their beloved goddess in such an exposed state.
Oh and of course once the word gets around to the boys, the absolute disappointment on their faces plus the swirling curiosity. A trip with just the girls? What will you speak about that you don't want any male ears to hear? Is it about them? Are you going to speak about them in private?
(Heizou not so subtly asking Sara what was said on this trip. Thoma sneakily listens in to conversations any of the women have on the estate that even mention your name. Itto loudly and desperately begging Shinobu to tell him where you are holding this outing so he can just, you know, not subtly spy on your conversations.)
Despite the rumors still floating around, you follow through with this little getaway plan. With extra reassurance from Yae Miko that if she catches any peeping toms she'll be sure to zap them.
And despite some of the girls being more nervous to be so up close and personal with you, others are just jumping at the chance to see you so laid back and vulnerable. And the steam from the hot springs just seems to melt away your walls, as the night goes on you find the conversation drifting to…romance. You tell Yae Miko how you love to write sappy cheesy romance novels and she’s more than happy to give some of your rough drafts a read. You playfully start to run your hands through Kirara’s damp hair just to hear her purr and now suddenly Yoimiya is asking “Me next! Me next!”
It isn't until you sheepishly say “Ah well despite writing about romance a lot I’ve never actually been in love or slept with anybody.” that an audible pause washes over the group. The deer scare making a loud echoing “clink”.
Now they all begin to coo and question you.
“There’s no way no one hasn’t fallen head over heels for your Grace yet?! You must be like thousands of years old, surely you’ve stolen someone’s heart” Yomiya loudly proclaims.
“Aww so you’re saving yourself for your one true love, how cute.” Yae Miko insinuated.
“When you say it out loud its embarrassing-”
“Has anyone caught your eye yet your Grace?” Sara asks a bit too calmly as she and Ei eye you down with anticipation.
The girls continue to grill you with nosy questions “What’s your ideal type?” “Do you prefer men or women more?”
And you answer them with giddiness, happy to spill your life long dreams of getting married and having a family of your own one day.
“Ah, so you desire to get married and become a mother?...” Yae Miko vocalized aloud, wondering what this would mean for the whole of Tayvet.
“I know it's a silly little dream of mine…”
“It's not silly at all, your Grace!” Yomiya cheerfully chimes in. “If you have your heart set on someone let me know and maybe I can set up a huge fireworks display that spells out I love you.” She giggles and Kirara nods in agreement.
Thanks but I don't really want anyone to play matchmaker…
The rest of the night goes on with laughter and drinks. The women feeling blessed to see this vulnerable side of you. You assume the conversations you had with the ladies will remain private but…it seems like someone has loose lips.
Soon days after the trip, rumors start to pop up.
“Ah didn't you hear our dear goddess is still a virgin, as pure as a lily kissing the sun’s rays for the first time.” “I aspire to have the same chastity as her.” “I heard she’s specifically looking for a husband because she wants to have kids.” “Surely if she chooses a man from our nation that means she’ll permanently reside here right?”
When you meet up with Venti again he’s a little more gleeful than usual. And when you part to say goodbye he leans in, eyes close but you abruptly stop him with a hand covering his mouth.
“What are you doing?”
“I wanted to kiss you before anyone else does.” He says with disappointed eyes, voice still muffled by your hand. When you allow him to speak more it's then that you know. Somebody in at that hot springs squealed.
And there’s no stopping these nosy rumors once they start going. What happens when they reach the ear of...?

You know what's kinda funny and really interesting? All of the Archons so far as well as the Archon quests all have the theme of freedom.
Mondstadt - Freeing Dvalin from the Abyss clutches as well as freeing him from his duties.
Liyue - Zhongli being freed from thousand years of duty as well as the people of Liyue having the freedom and autonomy as a nation without an archon.
Inazuma - The people of Inazuma being freed from the Raiden Shogun's oppresive pursuit of eternity as well as Ei's freedom from her grief.
Sumeru - Freeing Nahida from the sages as well as freeing Wanderer from the shackles of his past that is holding him back.
Fontaine - Furina finally being free of the mask she has to don for five hundred years as well as the people of Fontaine being freed from their sins.
It's quite interesting 🤔 and who is the God of Freedom? Hm? 🤔 That's fucking right its Venti. You know the archon who's not under NDA that we can definitely ask for Celestia crumbs, the archon who who helped Vanessa who later ascendes to Celestia, the archon who up till now still has no second story quest, the archon who houses some of the most lore important characters like Kaeya, Albedo and Alice, the archon who presides over Mondstadt where a statue is placed saying gateway to Celestia, the archon whose statue is turned fucking upside down, the archon who seems to know more than he lets on, the archon who said he knows the ballads of the past, present and future.
Yeah that Venti. Heh this is why he's my favourite.

─── ・ 。゚✧: *.☽ .* : ✧.───
You manage to get home without any interruptions. Grandpa Fuyi, the farmer that took you in, noticed your heavy breathing.
He sat up in his chair, grabbing his cane. Wiping the sweat from your face, you urged him to stay seated.
“I’m alright! I just… saw a few hilichurls on my way back and got scared.”
His grey brows furrowed. “Thank archons you’re alright. It’s dangerous for you to be traveling alone. Why don’t you take a break from selling?”
“About that… I’ve been thinking of traveling.”
Grandpa Fuyi was silent for a bit.
“Did you remember your real family?”
When you had first arrived, you knew it was impossible to tell him that you’re from another world. Instead, you told him that you’re lost and have no recollection of your past.
“I knew you’d eventually want to return to your life before, but I didn’t think it’d be this soon.” He sighed shakily.
“No! That’s not it…”
Your heart breaks seeing the frail man. You can’t possibly leave him alone. But you are scared. You aren’t sure if the geo archon would come searching for you and you don’t want to involve the one person to give you shelter. You think about what your next set of actions are when Grandpa Fuyi speaks after a long strip of silence.
“Will you let me come with you?”
You are frozen in shock. He sees your reaction and continues speaking.
“I know I’m old and it’ll be difficult to travel with me, but I’ve always dreamed of visiting other nations before I pass…”
You pause, weighing out the options in your mind.
“Are you sure?” you ask. “It may be dangerous…”
“I’m sure. As long as you’re okay with it, I’d like to travel the world with you.”
He gives you a smile with such kind eyes that you can’t help but tear up as you hug him tightly. How can you abandon the one person to help you in this unfamiliar world?
The two of you prepare, quite quickly, to leave Liyue. Using your knowledge from your previous world, you create a collapsible wheelchair for Grandpa Fuyi that would make it easy to travel in. The money you made from selling your miracle vegetables is enough for the two of you to travel comfortably and is enough to last a lifetime. With your bags packed and an optimistic smile on your face, the two of you set out to head to your next destination, the land of eternity… Inazuma.
Early the next day, before the sun has even risen, Zhongli returns to the stall and sees that it’s not yet open and that the person he has been thinking of all night is no where to be seen.
Feeling that it is quite early, he decides to wait for you to come. He waits until the sun is high in the sky. Then he waits till the sky is purple. Despite standing for a whole day, Zhongli doesn’t move an inch from his spot.
He has to confirm it.
Even with this thought in mind, he knows deep in his heart that it it’s you. He knows that the creator has descended. Zhongli can feel it in his gut and with every fiber of his being. You’re here.
Zhongli waits for days in the same spot, neither eating nor drinking. Passersby’s stare at him as if he’s crazy and some even offer food. Zhongli refuses them all, only one thought in mind.
Creator, creator, creator… where are you?
It’s been a while since Childe visited Liyue other than short business trips and missions for the Fatui.
Childe is heading towards Northland Bank when he sees Zhongli, standing as still as a statue next to an empty stall.
He decides to greet him, walking over to the former geo archon.
“What are you up to?” He asks him, seeing the serious expression on his face.
“I’m waiting for someone.” Zhongli’s answers are brief, nothing but determination in his eyes.
Around him, Childe can hear the whispers of the people who pass by.
“That man is still standing there…”
“How many days has it been?”
“Is he even human?”
Childe’s eyes narrow.
What’s so important about this stall that the Geo Archon himself waits days on end for?
His eyes examine the stall closely. Nothing special stands out. However, as he is examining it, he sees a small white handkerchief poking out from behind the stall on the opposite side of where Zhongli is standing.
“Who are you waiting for?” Childe asks as he casually walks over to the handkerchief. “They must be very important for you to be waiting this long.”
Zhongli doesn’t spare him a glance. “A vegetable merchant,” he says simply. Childe rolls his eyes, discreetly picking up the handkerchief and shoving it into his pocket.
“Wow, how informative,” he says sarcastically. “Well I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you’ve been waiting here for this long, chances are whoever you’re waiting for is long gone.”
Hearing this, Zhongli finally moves. The former geo archon was so absorbed in thoughts about what he’d say and how he’d react when he finally meets the creator that he didn’t realize how long he has actually been waiting.
“You’re right.” Zhongli wastes no more time waiting and leaves to search for them.
“Nice… just leave me hanging, no problem. I’ve been good by the way, thanks for asking!” Childe calls out to him.
As Zhongli walks to each nearby stall, asking for information about the vegetable merchant, Childe pulls out the handkerchief from his pocket.
His eyes scan over it, noticing smears of gold staining the white cloth.
Paint?
His thumb rubs over the smear, noticing that it’s a different texture than the usual paint used in Liyue.
Childe lifts the cloth to his face, taking in a deep whiff. As someone who survived the abyss and the youngest Fatui Harbringer, Childe’s senses are not to be messed with. Though it’s been days, there’s a small scent that anyone else would not have been able to recognize… but Childe, someone who has experienced his fair share of fights, is able to recognize it instantly.
… blood.
The puzzle pieces in his head click together so fast that he’s barely able to react. Childe stares at the cloth as if it’s the most special and rare artifact in all of the land of Teyvat.
A handkerchief with golden blood and the oldest archon guarding a shabby vegetable stall. Childe knows that this could only mean one thing.
The creator has descended.
With his heart beating faster than ever, Childe quickly leaves. He has to let the Tsarista know before Zhongli can find them. Childe smiles giddily, excitement filling his body.
After following the directions given to him by the townspeople, Zhongli finds himself in front of the small house you lived in with Grandpa Fuyi.
The wooden boards creak as he steps on the porch. Zhongli cringes, seeing the decrepit state of the small home.
Is this where their beloved creator has been staying?
Zhongli sighs. He will be sure to build you a grand palace for you to live in once he finally meets you.
He lightly knocks on the door with anticipation. A few seconds pass with no response. He knocks a bit harder and waits. After a few minutes pass of complete silence, Zhongli lets himself in.
He walks around the small home, examining it closely. Other than a small living area and kitchen, there are two small rooms. The first room he enters is lightly decorated with a few antiques littered here and there.
Were they living with someone? Zhongli asks in his head…a bit of jealousy shakes his heart. How lucky they must be to have lived with the creator…
The next room he enters is almost completely bare other than a small bed in the corner of the room. Zhongli knows immediately in his heart that it’s your’s.
The creator’s room…
Closing his eyes, he takes in a deep breath, almost as if he’s basking in your presence. It’s like he can feel you…
Zhongli walks over to the bed, sitting on top of it. His hands caress the sheets, feeling the slight roughness of the cloth beneath his fingertips.
This is where the creator slept…
He lifts the blanket up, burying his face into the cloth and breathing in deeply with the nose of a dragon. He can smell you… he pulls away after a few seconds, feeling a bit dizzy.
From what he can tell, it hasn’t been that long since you’ve left. You must be close, he thinks. He smiles with eyes filled of devotion and exhilaration.
It won’t be long before you meet, Zhongli thinks. He awaits the day he is able to kneel before your feet and officially welcome you to the land of Teyvat.
Zhongli finally leaves the small house to follow your trail before it fades. He decides not to tell a soul of his discovery, thinking that it’d be best not to release the news so as to not spark any chaos.
… but in truth… Zhongli wants to be the first one to find you. The first to welcome you and become your most trusted acolyte.

Hello my fellow ghost, I have this idea that came to my mind while reading some crack sites, imagine a Creator! Reader irritated, did not sleep well, a lot of work any excuse and goes for a walk to clear his mind, then simply sticks on the little finger with some object.
He shouts: FOR THE NAME OF!!, I AM STAR TO SERIUSLY CONSIDERING ERASE (nation in which it is) OF THE MAP.
Along with another irrelevant insult, then how would they react if some acolyte is near or even better the archons of a certain nation. I don't know, I laughed for myself thinking about this and I do not know if you will also find it funny.
In any case if you do not feel free to ignore or if you want some idea to write the priv is available. Bird says goodbye
Hello, @pajarokujo ! Though I do not see the humor, I can get what you're going for! (Is this how Tighnari and Collei feel when Cyno cracks a joke?— /lh)
I'll just do the Archons for this since I think they'd have the best reactions LOL
Venti, Zhongli, Raiden Ei, Nahida, and Furina Reacting to Reader's Tantrum
You were a little furious. You hadn't mean what you said, but in the attempt to calm yourself down, you jabbed at one part of the map and screamed, "THIS NATION. I WANT IT DECIMATED. PERMANENTLY." forgetting completely that you were the Creator and your booming voice could be practically heard by everyone.
Yes...they're panicking.
(Warning: Might Be OOC & Written Before 4.1 Special Program!)
Venti
Wisp boy is now panicked wisp boy. He ain't gonna stop trying to find a solution to save Mondstadt from your wrath until he drops dead. Quite literally.
Man, this bard is going crazy—all of his ballads have a slight air of panic to it, since everyone practically heard your threat from beyond the heavens.
So when you practically run into Mondstadt to personally reassure everyone that you aren't going to decimate the nation, Venti immediately sees your presence as his doom. He tries to keep it cool, and it sort of works? (It doesn't)
"AHAHA, YOUR GRACE!~ COME JOIN THIS HUMBLE BARD TO SEE THE GREAT TREE OF VANESSA!" "Venti, I swear to you, I—" "YOUR GRACE, IT'S WORTH IT PLEASE—"
Yeah, he's not taking the news well. But at least he'll collapse from relief knowing Mondstadt wasn't in danger after you clear up your mistake so yeah 👍 Good job, Creator!
Zhongli
The moment he hears you say that, this man is both protective over his baby (his nation) and hella scared of what the heck you're going to do to erase the Geo Nation off of the map.
When you try to enter Liyue, you "coincidentally" bump into Zhongli who tries to distract and stall you from your "objective," while also try and figure out your motive.
"Your Grace, may you please accompany me to Jueyun Karst? I believe the view there might be well, and I am in need of finding Jueyun chilis." "Zhongli, I—" "Thank you, Your Grace. Please, accompany me."
He does his absolute best to prove to you that Liyue is not a nation worth decimating for. When he hears that it was all just a misunderstanding and that, no, you weren't planning on destroying Liyue at all, he sighs in relief and decides to treat you all to tea.
Even you know y'all need it.
Raiden Ei
Gurl's not having a good time. It's almost like pre-Inazuma Archon Quest all over again. Ei's doing her best to make sure that Inazuma is the most well-behaved nation and yeah, it's kind of a disaster
The moment you step foot into Inazuma, you immediately sent to Tenshukaku to talk to Raiden Ei. She's even got Yae Miko on board with this—they cannot afford to lose Inazuma.
"Your Grace, please listen." "Ei, please—" "Inazuma has diligently followed all your orders, and we will continue to do so if you bless our nation with the chance to continue to thrive." Ei is almost going back to a similar state of being "close to the heavenly principles," only except she's here in the present and not in her eternal meditation.
The moment you get her to hear you out and that, no, Inazuma's not going anywhere, she nearly deflates on the spot. But, as she's the Raiden Shogun, she tries her best to stay composed.
Nevertheless, she's forever relieved that Inazuma is still favored by you.
Nahida
Like the others, she panics. While she is heavily worried about her subjects, and how they're faring, she has to leave that to the Akademiya's Grand Sage while she tries her best to find the reason as to why you want to decimate Sumeru.
She's heavily in thought and the moment you barge into the Sanctuary of Surasthana, Nahida immediately panics, thinking this is the end—the time you tell her to step down and watch Sumeru fall. Nevertheless, she wants Sumeru to live, and she tries to put up a fight.
"Your Grace, please tell me—what is it that made you hate Sumeru?" "Nahida, please...." "We've done nothing wrong, as far as I am aware of. Is there something that was done that makes you think Sumeru betrayed you?" She's determined to not only stall, but get you to tell your (non-existent) reasoning as to why you want Sumeru destroyed.
She's probably the easiest archon that you will be able to tell them that it was not true, and when Nahida hears this, she is both relieved, overjoyed, and making a mental note of your temperament.
Yes, she's going to five you her research about how to deal with your mood. Have fun!~
Furina
Boy oh boy...if you thought Venti was dramatic, Furina goes FULL ON dramatic. The moment she hears this, it's almost like the prophecy all over again. She panics, and she immediately demands that the charges against criminals become more brutal, and that their theatrics and soap opera are to be only top-peak level. (Neuvillette's getting a headache dealing with her, you can tell—)
When you manage to get to Fontaine, you almost don't even recognize it. The citizens are so quiet when you arrived, and moving away from you respectively as Furina immediately rushes forward and whisks you away to the Opera Epiclese to entertain you.
"Furina, please listen—" "Don't you worry about a thing, Your Grace, for I, Focalors, shall show you how Fontaine will regain your approval through their justice, and through their opera!" "Furina—" "Please, Your Grace, rejoice in our spectacles, and enjoy the feast that is brought to your majesticness!"
We know all too well that Furina is a good actor. And this situation really proves how much she's hiding her panic, despite the fact that it's killing her. She's probably the most difficult, a little above Ei, archon that will hear you out about your accidental temperament.
When you somehow manage to get Furina to listen, she immediately deflates on the spot, before immediately putting back on her elegant posture. She asks Neuvillette to go back to normal charges, and she lowers the bar for the stories, allowing her subjects the breathing room that they're used to.
She treats you to Fontaine desserts, so win-win, yeah?
And we're done! I hope you guys enjoyed it lol—See you next time! :D

Male!reader, cult AU, done with everything reader, Unknown God is called Asmoday— Yandere themed, Khaenri’ah lore theory from diff people implied in by yours truly ✨me/Fyu✨. I made male!reader because fuck I lost all my ask inboxes 😭
Tumblr media
Nothing could be more terrifying, than the creator himself finding out about the destruction of Khaenri’ah that had the Archons immediately down on their knees. They were horrified, because, most likely the Archons never wanted to destroy it in the first place— it was Celestia! Surely you’d understand!
But all you were doing, was chugging down your cola/Pepsi down your throat, your eyebags being visible;; which was easy enough for you to make a bitch resting face. ❝That was my favorite nation… Took me four years, now it’s ruined…❞ You sounded oh-so Godly upsetting, it’s tearing the Archons’ souls at this. ❝Your grace no! We didn’t mean it, I swear!❞ Barbatos was clinging onto your waist, Beelzebul was clinging onto your arm;; and Morax clung onto the other arm, gently trying to make sure you’re not choking from the drink by now.
❝Your grace we promise it wasn’t our doing…!❞
❝Yes!! Listen to the Shogun! It’s Celestia’s doing! That filthy palace, right?! Asmoday deserves a punishment too!❞ Barbatos agreed with the electro Archon’s words, for the first time, as you gave out a huff at their antics. You’re too tired, too exhausted. ❝Jesus… What’s the point in living if my four years creation is already ruined…❞
Just by hearing that made everyone in Teyvat absolutely mortified. Yes, mind you that not only can the Archons hear this;; but everyone around Teyvat. Since you exist, your voice is simply in everyone’s ears;; especially the unknown God’s.
❝And why the fuck is everyone killing the monsters- my babies used to be humans, everything was so normal— what happened when I died??? 💔💔❞
The Archons couldn’t take it anymore, and bursted into … A waterfall. Their eyes were crying out I tell ya.
❝WAAAAAA— OUR GRACE NO!! I DIDN’T KILL ANYONE I SWEAR;; IT’S ALL MORAX’S FAULT!❞
❝Pardon me? I believe the drunken bard was the one who demolished every single men and women who tried running away, and don’t get me started on the Raiden.❞
❝You dare accusing my sister?! Your grace! I’ve always been loyal to eternity and kept my promise! Do not trust these fools, they’re lying about my sister Makoto!❞
Even their crying was spread throughout Teyvat. And never in anyone’s life in Inazuma, had they thought the Raiden Shogun would be so… Whiny and, well, emotional. Especially in Liyue who has never seen Rex Lapis’ Archon form being this emotional as well. Childe was at the brink of choking and almost dying. /real
Snezhnaya was so close to victory if you took their side as well. The more the Archons fought one another for you, this means you’d love them more. And the more you love them— the more you could destroy Celestia with Tsaritsa!! Hold on I think Tsaritsa is going love love crazy with a huge blush—
But in all honesty, this makes Dainsleif so fucking angry. They DARED casually talking and whining to you as if they can order you around to punish someone! As much as he hates Celestia’s guts, your appearance came first. Filthy Archons… He knew he should’ve tried killing them the day Asmoday’s attack went feral over Khaenri’ah…
And as for Kaeya and Albedo, those two were definitely going to grab Venti and attack him like feral men who’d do anything for their divine. You.
Everyone was so unsure of how to feel about the Archons. Killing a nation because of what? Their nature? If Celestia truly did send them off to kill the innocents… Then that meant… They’ve been killing humans this entire time.
Xiangling and other children are definitely going to throw up from the thought of it, as they have to be comforted by other people who gave them a light pat on the back. Even for Xiao, who has been more traumatized for realizing that the robots were also made from Khaenri’ah to not destroy nations, but to destroy the heavenly principles and Celestia. All this time… They’ve tried attacking innocents who didn’t even try bothering them, they bothered them first.
Yeah. Horrified nations is definitely set upon the place. And I think, Aether is going to take his frustration out on the Archons once they get back. Not only did they not help him to find his sister, Aether has been completely lied to!
But no worries… Aether will be helped by you right? You must be so… Soooooo tired of them… He will do anything in your hands, he will obey, if it meant he could be helped by you. He’d be so blessed if that were to be the case.
If his sister leaves him for the Abyss one more fucking time, he wouldn’t blame her— but would give up at this very point seeing that Lumine wouldn’t choose him over Abyss. Nahida was right. She belonged to this world, and he was just a traveller through different dimensions.
But then… Who was he truly, if Lumine was never from his own world from the beginning? Who was he to you?
He has heard about your story, your tales… How you always wore a cloak with designed hood over your head;; how you died by such brutal creatures who tried taking over Teyvat. You were a pretty boy, that he wasn’t going to lie about. You were strong, a bit too strong. You’re too overpowered that you didn’t even need to lift a finger, just say in your head that you wanna delete someone and boom. Deleted. Completely erased.
(And you don’t even fight, 💀 lucky bastard)
No matter… That was not the time to think about, right?
The nations aren’t even sure anymore if they should forgive the Archons. For they have sinned and destroyed your favorite creations, Khaenri’ah and it’s people. There was no way they’d ever get your forgiveness.
Tumblr media
Which is a lie because you would forgive them but you will be so frustrated trying to remake Khaenri’ah ahahaha— oh yeah while also beating Celestia up by deleting it.
Also ew I’m stuck in a restaurant

The land of eternity, Inazuma. Its archon was the God of Eternity, Raiden Ei. Everyone was aware of that.
Out of all 7 nations, why were you dropped there specifically?
Because it is eternal.
Ei, out of everyone, had a strange connection with you. Despite the knowledge that you weren't the one who created them by hand, but the one who gave them life... Therefore, the same united connection and the inability of the Creator to be in Teyvat. She had a special connection with you.
That was a knowledge she has found out the moment she faced the Traveller, when she met you.
Even at that brief conversation, when she first conversed with you in millennials. She could tell—no, feel a different kind of connection with you.
A connection that's far different. A connection that makes her special.
They say that the creator inhabits human vessels that are capable of adapting to them, to communicate with their subjects as their presence might cause the end of Teyvat. The world was like a void when their creator wasn't there, no sense of life or anything, as if Teyvat has reached finality.
But unlike everyone, Ei could feel you. And unlike everyone, you would always be apart with Ei because that's just how it is with The Ruler and Creator of Teyvat.
There's a specific reason why Teyvat dropped you at Inazuma. For Inazuma is the Land of Eternity. And you are the only one who is able to end said eternity.
The creator had a chance to know and to never know, because it is all connected in one place and because they will never be allowed to be at Teyvat.
The mere presence of the creator at Teyvat, at Inazuma, was a hole in the entire reality.
Hence the opening. Hence the gateway to heaven or paradise.
Hence the gateway to your world.

Thinking about…
KUNIKUZUSHI, the rebellious heir to Inazuma’s throne and your close childhood friend. He’s been with you ever since the fateful day where destiny ordained that you would leave your homeland to seek refuge within the nation of eternity, and he’s been dear to you ever since.
When you first met Kunikuzushi, he was innocent. Soft and pure like a flower flourishing under the gentle radiance of dandelion-tinted sunlight. He was the first person to comfort you when you arrived in Inazuma, and from then on, your carefree days were filled with luminous smiles and shared laughter. From forbidden late night rendezvous to the occasional sparring session, you and Kunikuzushi had done everything together back when you were younger.
However, times have now changed. Now that he’s older, his mother expects him to take part in governing the country, and throughout his time serving the people as a prince, he’s seen things that have caused him to change.
Kunikuzushi doesn’t spend as much time with you anymore. Whenever you ask him to accompany you somewhere or do something with you, he refuses and claims that he’s busy. Even his tone has become colder. The distance between you is beginning to feel unbearable, but on the better days, you are able to see that he still holds an ounce of love for you.
On days where you manage to hold brief conversations with him as you walk down the winding corridors of the palace, he half-heartedly asks you how you’ve been. Although he sounds rather dismissive, you know that Kunikuzushi has long since discarded any semblance of care for others around you, so the fact that he’s going out of his way to talk to you is a miracle in and of itself.
Little do you know that whenever you part ways, he looks over his shoulder to gaze at you longingly. He wishes that he could turn back time, rewind everything to an era where his greatest worry was what he would do on his next adventure by your side.
However, now he’s older, and his mother is expecting him to marry the heir to the neighbouring kingdom soon. The least he can do is distance himself from you, trying his best to eradicate all the love he once held for you. But maybe — just maybe — he’ll be willing to risk everything and run away, just for you, if his love is reciprocated.
Tumblr media
XIAO, a knight from your kingdom who’s tasked with the tall order of protecting you and keeping you in check. Your parents sent him to Inazuma after your previous guard resigned, and since then, he has been your only friend from your homeland. He’s not always by your side; he trusts you enough to allow you to make your own judgements. However, in the dead of night, when you’re not sneaking off to meet up with any of your friends, Xiao is your sole companion.
He dutifully stands outside your bedroom door as pitch black curtains of night drape themselves over the world, and somehow he is able to stay there for what feels like an eternity, protecting you until the gentle caress of the sun graces the earth once more. It’s impressive how dedicated he is to you.
But for all his professionalism, deep down, you still wish that he would drop the formalities. After all, he’s the final link you have to your home, a place near and dear to your heart, so you would rather treat him as a friend as opposed to someone below you. However, there is an unspoken distance between the two of you — one derived from the despair rooted within the system of rigid social classes set within society.
Xiao is aware of this. However, Xiao is also aware of the fact that he cares about you. He cares about you far more than he should. The way his heart races feverishly in his chest whenever you attempt to strike up a conversation with him, the embers of a faint blush that burn subtly on his cheeks when you make eye contact with him, and the electrifying sensation that graces his nerves whenever you accidentally brush your hand against his are enough to realize that his feelings run deeper than they’re supposed to. So he conceals them behind a mask of indifference, masquerading the halls of Inazuma’s palace under the false pretense of apathy.
All he can do to display his affections is protect you, but regrettably, he can only keep you safe in the face of physical threats. With that being said, there is nothing he can do about the nightmares that plague your mind whenever the magical hour of midnight strikes. Darkness fills your dreams, turning an oneiric diary full of serendipitous moments of nonsense into haunting wastelands reminiscent of the rubble-filled streets of your homeland in the aftermath of the war that had cost you the entirety of your former life. It is only by the cover of the unlit sky that you will allow yourself to cry, unveiling all the pain and grief the defeat of your nation has caused you.
Xiao is certain that visions of your kingdom haunt you in the dead of night. He is absolutely positive. Because whenever he closes his eyes in order to seek a brief moment of respite, he is also catapulted into a moment amidst the turmoil of those fateful days.
So on seemingly starless nights where your sobs echo down the desolate corridors of Inazuma’s royal palace, Xiao quietly opens your door to slip into your bedroom. He silently walks over to your shivering silhouette and shyly embraces you, sitting down on your bed in order to gaze at you with pain swirling around within the golden hues that act as a window to his soul.
Embracing you. Holding you in his arms. Simply being in your presence. It all feels so wrong to Xiao, but at the same time, it feels so right.
Your guard is grateful that the shadows keep his expression hidden because if you were to see the look on his face, the fragile illusion that he had carefully crafted would shatter under the weight of his emotions, and you would realize the truth — the truth of his love for you.
Tumblr media
KAZUHA, an enigmatic young man who met up with you often once upon a time. Although you knew nothing of his background, you could tell that he was a kind individual, so you never bothered pressing him for any details. Besides, his presence always caused a feeling of tranquility to settle within your forlorn heart.
However, it has been a while since you’ve seen him. It feels as if he has become one with the wind itself, vanishing without a trace. On especially sentimental nights, your mind occasionally drifts to the thought of him, reminiscing the good times you spent together.
Your first meeting with him was purely coincidental, yet everything that transpired felt as though it was written in the stars hung in a midnight sky. Back when you were a child, you enjoyed exploring the vast forests surrounding the palace grounds, curious as to what secrets were laying hidden within the rarely-traversed areas of the estate.
It was on one such occasion that you had heard a mellow tune drifting in the breeze, entrancing you in a way that made you feel compelled to trace it back to its source. As the sound of the dreamy fantasia grew louder and louder, enveloping you in a warmth reminiscent of the sun on a cloudless day, you approached a clearing in the woods that looked like a manifestation of a fairytale.
That was the first time you laid eyes upon Kazuha. You remember the way you were immediately enraptured when you gazed into the sea of stars present within his eyes and heard his soft voice when he nonchalantly greeted you and started up a conversation.
From that day on, you began sneaking out of the palace (whenever Kunikuzushi was busy attending to other matters) to meet up with Kazuha. He would tell you stories of distant lands and teach you how to play music using nothing more than the leaves strewn about the mossy forest floor. From time to time, he would also ask you about your life, but he always strayed away from the topic of you being royalty. Instead, he asked you about your hobbies and ambitions, taking an interest in you as opposed to your status.
Was he a rather suspicious individual? Yes. But he was also someone who always made you feel free. You felt like yourself when you were with him — not the heir to the throne of a foreign land but simply and irrefutably you.
Times with Kazuha were lighthearted and liberating, so when he abruptly disappeared into thin air, a feeling of devastation gripped your heart. Day after day, you awaited his return, but he never did show up again. Eventually, you were forced to admit that he wasn't coming back.
You knew nothing about him, so it was quite literally impossible to track him down. All you could do was wait and hope that the threads of fate would allow you to cross paths with Kazuha once more.
Unbeknownst to you, the boy with hair weaved of starlight and eyes tinted a hue reminiscent of autumn leaves is still out there, but he no longer has the time or freedom to meet up with you. He is too preoccupied with assisting in managing the affairs of his clan. The Kaedehara clan. Although he feels honored to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors, sometimes his family legacy feels just a slight bit too heavy. In the midst of such tumultuous times, he wants nothing more than to run back to you — back to the carefree days where he was simply a foolish teenager, hopelessly in love with you.
But even Kazuha knows that his wish is one that can only come true in the most whimsical of fairytales, so he keeps his distance from you, trying his best to forget about a love that will never be.
Tumblr media
HEIZOU, the up-and-coming investigator you hire in order to discern the whereabouts of your missing friend. You keep your meetings with him a secret from those in the palace because you don't want them to find out about Kazuha, but thankfully, Heizou has no trouble operating with stealth.
Your conversations and outings typically consist of interrogations and attentive searches for clues pertaining to the disappearance of Kazuha, but so far, you haven’t found any leads. It’s rather strange that someone as talented as Heizou hasn’t been able to locate Kazuha, but you don’t want to question him too much, lest he refuse to help you due to irritation.
However, Heizou is hiding something. You haven’t caught on yet, but he fears that you will soon. After all, from his conversations with you, he has inferred that you are bright. Not quite as intuitive as him, but you’re smart enough to understand him, unlike most of the people he surrounds himself with.
Heizou knows where Kazuha is. In fact, he’s friends with Kazuha. He’s only refrained from telling you due to his dear friend’s request. Kazuha doesn’t want you to find him because if you do,  he knows he would give up everything for you in a heartbeat. His wealth. His title. His clan. Everything.
But as Heizou gets closer to you, he begins to realize how much you care about Kazuha and how much you worry about your missing friend. He finds it endearing in a strange sense, and for some odd reason, his own heart pounds uncontrollably each time your dedication peaks through your unphased demeanour.
Heizou admires you — almost a little too much, and over time, he begins to understand why Kazuha thought so highly of you. Although you’re royalty, you’re not conceited or pretentious. You care deeply for those around you, and that touches Heizou’s heart.
So for now, he half-selfishly keeps Kazuha’s secret to himself, abiding by the wishes of his friend but partially for his own benefit. As long as you are unaware that Heizou had already solved this case long ago, you will continue to search for Kazuha, constantly rewinding the hands of a universal clock, extending Heizou’s limited time with you.

Low-flying books never posed much of a threat to Fontaine. Or at least that's what the Palais Mermonia staff thought until last week.
— How long will it take? — whispered the young girl to herself, carrying a stack of documents.
She didn't have to wait long for an answer.
— Where's the next part?! — A dramatic voice came from behind the door and immediately after that the latest novel from Inazuma flew out the door.
The pages fluttered in the air. The older friend pulled the younger one back. They miraculously avoided a sudden encounter with literature. More specifically, the best-selling recent romance novel from the Nation of Eternity.
— Lady Furina, unfortunately that was the last part. We have contacted Yae Publishing House but Zhenyu has no plans to publish the next one yet because it is a new series. — The man behind the door explained patiently.
—Ah! You don't understand the seriousness of the situation... It was not an ordinary read but a feast for the imagination. A sensually stimulating treatise on momentous deeds. Two tragic lovers brought together by fate. Their emotions could not see the light of day. Now they suffer and they don't even know if fate will put them on a common path again! Without the next part, my life becomes BORING! Only ugly, naked and gray reality!
The Archon spread herself helplessly on the soft sofa. Her head hung down and her leg dangled steadily behind the backrest. Her outfit seemed to blend in with the blue upholstery. Thus, it created a sense of unity with the furniture. A very woefully dissatisfied unity.
— Yes, but there's nothing we can do about it...
—Toodaloo! — she suggestively asked the employee to leave the room.
Just as he was about to cross the doorstep with a sigh of relief, the archon's voice stopped him.
— STOP!
He just hoped he wouldn't have to look for another series. Lady Furina had probably read every possible drama and she didn't even want to hear about the bad ones.
— What is Mademoiselle [Reader] doing here again this week? — She narrowed her eyes as if that would help her find the answer.
Indeed, one of the main employees of the Opera Epiclese slipped through the door. Furina has performed on the stage of the opera many times. But she couldn't say she knew her particularly well. The woman did not deal with art but was a kind of a link between the palace and the court. In addition, she was usually up to her's ears in court documents. It was even more special that lately she had appeared here almost every time the archon threw another part of the series out thru the door.
— Mademoiselle [Reader] has been very busy lately. I think she's overwhelmed by it all. She was even sick recently. It seems to me that he has many matters to discuss with Monsieur Neuvillette and…
— I SEE! So that's how it is! — Furina jumped off the sofa as if she had gained new energy.
— What do you mean, my lady? — asked the confused man.
— Isn't it obvious?! It's just a cover. She must be in love with our dear Iudex! — she announced, snatching a plate with a piece of cake from the table. She stuffed the cake into her mouth. She looked extremely happy.
— I think it's just...
— Shhh. — She pressed a muffin into his hand. — You must not stand in the way of love. Its doors should be opened wider. And if I know our dear judge, he will close it right in her face. Luckily, I am me and I'll play the best doorman possible! — Saying this, she ran out the door.
— This can't end well. — The man rubbed his temple. Eventually, however, he ate the cupcake and the corner of his mouth twitched upwards.
***
— It should be around here somewhere… — [Reader] mused aloud.
— What are you looking for, mademoiselle [Reader]?
The calm, familiar tone could only belong to one person. Besides, hardly anyone stayed to work after hours at Palais Mermonia. Especially considering that no new trial has been announced yet.
— Good evening, Monsieur Neuvillette.
Indeed, she was not mistaken. Iudex of Fontaine emerged from behind the glass door. His step was as stately as ever. Even despite visible fatigue after a long day of work.
— I'm looking for my umbrella — she explained, casting a longing glance toward the empty umbrella stand.
There was a heavy downpour in Fontaine. The woman wouldn't say it was the worst rain she had ever seen. However, the thought of what she would encounter when she emerged from above the small roof did not fill her with optimism. She was sick recently. The vision of such a quick repetition of the entertainment was not in her plans. Sneezing on government documents didn't seem like a good idea.
— Was it long and black? — asked the man.
— Exactly! Have you seen it?
— I noticed it in my office before I left. I didn't know it belonged to you. I figured whoever the owner was they were probably already gone.
— Hmmm... Honestly... it's a bit weird. I don't remember taking it inside with me. I could have sworn I left it here before I left.
— If you wait here, I'll try to find whoever has the key today...
— Don't worry. Everyone left and went home a few minutes ago. I'll take it tomorrow.
[Reader] and Neuvillette stood in complete silence for a moment. The woman seemed to be fighting with herself. Thick, heavy drops continued to fall onto the sidewalk. Waiting wasn't an option but she could enjoy a few more seconds of dry clothes.
— Ahem — Neuvillette cleared his throat after a moment — you're going to get wet. Please at least accept my coat.
The material was thick, soft and warm. The woman hesitantly accepted the clothes.
— Then you'll get wet and I couldn't let that happen — she said. — Maybe we could share?
— We could share? — the man repeated unconsciously.
Was this what people did? He wasn't sure. He knew it was just a nice habit. On the other hand, in many years of his life he had never had the opportunity to give his clothes to anyone. And he certainly didn't try to share it.
— You once said that you liked the rain, monsieur, but it would be too much to let you go without anything in this downpour.
[Reader] threw half of the cloak over his head and covered herself with the other half. Each of them was only partially covered. It wasn't the best idea but at least it seemed fair. In this way, they moved briskly down the stairs.
Neuvillette didn't remember exactly when he told the woman that he didn't mind the rain. He didn't think anyone would remember that. And he tried not to give out too much information that could lead anyone to his true identity. It wasn't important anyway. It's not enough for anyone to say anything. Lost in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice [Reader] barely keeping up with him. After all, he was much taller than any resident of Fontaine.
One careless move was enough. [Reader] felt the concrete step slip away from under her feet. She tried to save the situation with her hands. The only thought in her mind was that she could have at least done it halfway and not almost at the bottom of the stairs like the worst klutz. She mentally prepared herself for the pain. However, it did not come. Monsieur Neuvillette caught her around the waist before her face hit the hard ground.
— Everything's all right? — he made sure, which was answered by a nod of the head.
They continued through the city streets. Few people were walking in this weather. Those who decided to do so, however, stared with interest at the couple hidden under the coat. Some recognized the judge. The woman glanced at her companion but as she suspected, he didn't seem affected by it. She just hoped there weren't any Steambird journalists among the passersby or they'd make the headlines tomorrow in the stupidest way possible.
A child flew past them. The blonde seemed to be about a dozen years old. A strange tin creature ran past him. If she wasn't mistaken, he looked like a penguin.
— Hydro dragon, hydro dragon… — he began quietly.
— …do not cry! — [Reader] concluded loudly.
He seemed scared that she was even paying attention to him. With his head down, he ran away in a direction known only to him.
— Oops, I think I scared him. — She looked at her companion.
It occurred to the man that maybe he wasn't the only one who didn't always know exactly what and how to say things.
— Does Mademoiselle believe in this legend? — he asked.
— I think dragons likes rain but sometimes I wondered if it is actually their tears. If one is still here, looking after Fontaine like Monsieur and Lady Furina, then I think it's natural to want to comfort him in his sadness.
It was the first time he had heard such an answer. Usually people just thought it was a magical incantation to stop the rain. Something that was supposed to drive away evil. The rain they didn't like. His feelings were an inconvenience to them. And keeping the sometimes unknown emotions in check was difficult. The mere fact that he often made parts of the city miserable due to the weather already put pressure on him. To keep everything under control and be calm at all costs.
— I think the dragon would appreciate your concern — with these words he left [Reader] at the door of the apartment and then continued through the wet streets of Fontaine.
***
— Welcome to Chioriya Boutique, how can I be of service? — the standard phrase echoed as soon as [Reader] crossed the threshold of the store.
She couldn't see the saleswoman. The shelves were filled to the brim with bales of material. Only in the next room, among the mannequins, lace, corsets and crinolines, did she find familiar faces. Interestingly, it wasn't just Eloffe she expected to meet.
— Mademoiselle [Reader]! — Sedene and Sigewinne greeted her in unison.
— Good morning. What kind of shopping is this? — asked the woman, leaning gently over her much shorter companions.
The melusines looked intently at the open drawer. Bows and ribbons were arranged in neat rows. [Reader] had no doubt that Eloffe had spent a lot of time getting them all looking right. The multitude of colors and shapes made it difficult to take your eyes off them.
— We're trying to find a gift. We can't decide which ribbon is the prettiest. Fortunately, we have today off, added Sedene.
Melusine straightened her uniform. It was a habit she picked up from the office, where she spent her days at the reception desk. Her clothes were wrinkled from sitting for a long time. She scratched behind her ear.
— Which one do you like? — she asked [Reader].
[Reader] looked ahead, going into nystagmus. She didn't know who the gift was supposed to be for. She assumed in advance that it was a different melusine. Perhaps from the village. It happened that friends who had adapted to life in the capital visited those who preferred peace and quiet in an underwater village.
— This one is quite nice.
A blue ribbon twisted into a bow was decorated with a single pink shell. It wasn't something that half of the fashionable society in Fontaine would wear but the woman knew perfectly well that melusines perceive the world in different, not always typical categories. Considering how closely they were connected with the sea, the choice seemed very good to her.
— We'll take it — Sigewinne said without hesitation. — Monsieur Neuvillette will be pleased.
If the jaw could actually drop to the ground like in the tiny comics printed on the back pages of the Steambird newspaper, [Reader] was sure that's how hers would be. She couldn't imagine Iudex of Fontaine wearing that hair ribbon. It suited the melusines, but him? She looked at her satisfied companions. She didn't have the heart to tell them that maybe it wasn't the best idea after all. They seemed very happy to finally make the difficult decision. Soon the tiny box was in little blue hands.
[Reader] had her work uniform repaired. To her surprise, there were still melusines standing in front of the store.
— Actually, I have a favour to ask of you, mademoiselle — Sigewinne began. — I have to get back to the Fortress and Sedene doesn't have time either.
— I don't? — The blue melusine blinked.
— We don't — her friend emphasized. — That's why I thought maybe you could bring a gift. Monsieur is waiting at the café Lutece. We will be very grateful. If I understand correctly, this is how human gratitude is defined…
— Didn't Sedene say by any chance that you had the day off... — [Reader] didn't finish the sentence because the box was thrust into her hands and the melusines disappeared around the corner with a loud farewell.
So she headed towards the café. The Chief Justice was hard to miss. He was sitting at a double table, looking out at the street.
— Monsieur Neuvillette.
— Mademoiselle [Reader] — The man seemed slightly surprised to see her and that wasn't often the case.
— I'm bringing you a gift. Sigewinne and Sedene really wanted to give it to you but unfortunately they couldn't make it.
The tiny bundle landed in his hand. It seemed to [Reader] that their fingers touched for much longer than was really necessary. However, this impression quickly passed.
— Did something happen?
— I don't think so, although they were acting strange. Sedene said something about a day off but Sigewinne suddenly said that they had to go back. I hope all is well at the Fortress of Meropide.
Melusines always remembered their duties. They were usually extremely dedicated to their work, no matter what profession it was.
Neuvillette just nodded. He guessed what exactly it was about but he couldn't say it out loud. Sigewinne did it on purpose. She had been pestering [Reader] as his replacement for some time now. She even arranged a lecture on cosmetics after [Reader] mentioned that she wanted to be better at applying makeup. Melusine tried to better understand who she was and what exactly was going on between her and Iudex of Fontaine. The truth was that too little was happening and too slowly for her liking. That's why she stubbornly tried to gently push the two of them in a common direction. Usually, however, with poor results.
— Wriothesley will certainly handle any problem should it arise. — Please, sit down — the man encouraged.
The woman looked around the table shaded by the umbrella and noticed a small piece of paper. Sedene's name was written in gold cursive. Apparently the reservation was intended just for her.
— I wouldn't like to disturb you.
— Mademoiselle could never disturb me. — Neuvillette looked her straight in the eyes, then had a short conversation with the waiter.
— To be honest, I received an invitation for two to a café and I wanted to invite you here but I saw that you had a document transfer scheduled for today, so I decided against it.
It was true. However, he left out the moment in the story where he simply hesitated to ask the question. After all, as a last resort, the woman could take time off to meet him if she really wanted to. The question was whether she really wanted to. He wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know the answer...
— Well... It so happens that the transfer has been postponed, so the trial will probably be delayed. Fortunately, I'm not the only Opera employee. Someone would do it for me if necessary. For example, if I was invited to a coffee shop…
Neuvillette didn't have time to answer. The waiter brought crystal glasses on a tray. [Reader] peered in curiously, assessing the contents.
— Is this a new type of Fonta? — she asked, sniffing.
— It's water. I like tasting water. You could say it's my hobby — he cleared his throat. — If you want, I'll order something else...
He didn't expect [Reader] to be present today. Therefore, he informed the waiter in advance that he and Sedene would drink water. This wouldn't be strange to a melusine, as they could sense subtle differences that humans usually couldn't. However, hardly anyone else reacted normally to his passion. He didn't find much understanding on this matter, so he usually kept it to himself.
— There's no need to! — she protested vehemently. — I mean... I'm not a connoisseur and I don't know how much I'll feel something but I'll try. And if it doesn't work out, I can just listen. — Saying this, she took a sip of water from one glass, then another.
She looked serious for a moment, as if weighing the flavors.
— It won't work, they taste the same to me. — She laughed quietly.
— Inazuma water has a deep, distinct flavour like no other. The one from Sumeru is a rich and complex bouquet. You have to drink it slowly and for a long time to understand it. Therefore, there is no point in giving up. Take a sip now and another one, in a moment.
The woman nodded. Neuvillette finally unpacked the small box. The ribbon looked different than the ones he usually got from melusines. The pink shell jingled softly. It reminded him of the call of the sea. For a moment he wanted to return to it.
— I hope you're not mad. I chose it. I didn't know who the gift was for, and Sigewinne and Sedene asked me for advice, and that's how it turned out.
— It's beautiful — he said.
But his eyes weren't on the ribbon at all. [Reader] noticed this and looked nervously to the side while tucking her hair behind her ear.
— Maybe I can help you put it on? — she suggested to break the silence.
She approached the table from the other side. She pulled off the old ribbon and carefully placed it back in the box. A cascade of long, silvery hair flowed gently in the wind. After a while, they were decorated with a pink shell. Neuvillette turned his head, probably thinking it was over. However, he didn't notice that [Reader] wanted to move something. His face met a pair of eyes shining with concentration. They were so close to each other that he could almost feel her breathing. He felt warmth rising to his cheeks. The distance was rapidly decreasing. Was this the state he had heard so often about but had not yet been able to understand? An inexplicable fascination that drew you closer and didn't let you escape?
— Can I help you with anything else? — He turned around abruptly at the sound of the waiter's words. If there was anything he regretted that day, it was that the employee showed up at that particular place at that time.
***
[Reader] looked around uncertainly. Lady Furina warmly assured her that Monsieur Neuvillette needed help and would certainly be in the area. She even offered to give hercompany because she had something to do nearby. Despite this walk, she never once mentioned what the help actually involved. Every time a question was about to be asked, she veered off topic. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the archon did not fall silent for even a second, without allowing her to say a word.
The woman hadn't been here for a very long time so she walked along the seashore to make sure she didn't get lost. The waves gently lapped the golden sand. The sun was pleasantly warm, reflecting the glow of the water. She would have been delighted with the view, if it weren't for the fact that she couldn't find a man and she was getting further and further away from the city. Tired, she sat down by one of the grayish rocks.
— Argh! — a loud sound came from behind her.
She turned around abruptly. As it turned out, she had company. Behind a small rock sat a large Blubberbeast. It flapped its fins on belly and tilted its head curiously. She probably would have left it alone if it weren't for what she found behind it. A tower was being built next to the animal. But not just any kind. The pile was getting bigger by the minute. It consisted mainly of oysters. There was also seaweed and shells among them but she also saw a few pearls in the sand. Every now and then a new animal emerged from the water, each carrying another sea treasure. The white otter nimbly jumped out of the sea and trotted as fast as its little legs could to add its weight. It looked at [Reader] and made a whistling sound. Immediately afterwards, Blubberbeast approached the woman. And then more emerged from the sea. A group of crabs joined in, clacking their claws. She felt cornered. She had never heard of such a phenomenon and was about to slowly start to back away when the otter grabbed her leg. It placed seaweed at her feet. A string of milky white pearls stuck out from between them. Interestingly, they were strung on a silver chain, which made her wonder where animals got it from.
— Is this for me? — she asked in disbelief.
Blubberbeast patted its stomach and its companions followed. She took this as confirmation and put the necklace on.
Suddenly she heard voices in the distance. The men looked suspicious. Their clothes did not suggest the inhabitants of the capital. Tattered shirts and trousers did not bode well, as she realized when she saw the weapons in their hands.
— Can you see that? — the tallest man asked. — We've got some loot, boys.
He looked like the leader of the group. There was a scar on his eye and a nasty smile on his face. He walked over to the pile of treasures, scooped up a few pearls and bit into them as if testing gold. The animals made warning sounds. It wouldn't take a zoologist from the Institute to guess that they didn't like it very much.
[Reader's] first thought was to escape. However, she didn't have time to make any move. The air became humid. She felt the intense smell of salty sea water. Its droplets seemed to float in the air for a moment. As if someone had stopped time. Immediately afterwards, all three attackers were knocked down in an instant by a stream of water. Behind it she saw a familiar face.
— Monsieur Neuvillette. — [Reader] breathed a sigh of relief.
— Mademoiselle [Reader], what are you doing here?
She couldn't tell him that Lady Furina had led her here. The archon clearly emphasized that this was not a good idea. This is a tragically hopeless idea, full of complexities that there is no time to explain, leading to unnecessary misunderstandings... Do you understand?
— It worked out that way… — she said sluggishly.
— I'm glad you're okay.
Neuvillette looked at her neck, then at the pile of treasures, then at the entire animal retinue.
— You got your gift a little earlier than I planned...
The woman instinctively grabbed her jewelry.
— How did you get them all to… Oh — she realized.
Bad weather after the trials. The fact that he was able to use hydro power without vision. The way he got along so well with the sea creatures and made the sea animals listen to him. Now everything made sense.
— We'll talk about it later but first I'd like to say something. — He looked her straight in the eyes. — You already know that I'm not human. That's why I can't always immediately understand the emotions that are associated with humanity. I waited because I wanted to make sure that what I said would truly reflect how I felt. I'm infatuated. I see you in places you're not and in things you don't touch. I walk through the streets of Fontaine thinking I'll meet you and then I wonder what I would say if we saw each other. And even when I have something in my head, I can't say it when we actually see each other. If there is a crime you should be convicted of, it would be stealing my heart but I know I wouldn't be able to pass the sentence. Therefore, judge me because only you can do it. — With these words, he knelt in front of her and took her hand.
[Reader] couldn't shake the feeling that Lady Furina must have dropped off the Inazuma romance novels on Neuvillette's desk somewhere among the papers. But she had no intention of complaining.
— I hereby declare you innocent. — She smiled gently. — First of all, we can go to...
***
— What is this even? Hopeless. A total tragedy. End of the world! How can you be so... ARGH... Ignorance is rampant in Fontaine and the great efforts of outstanding people who try to fight the gray, boring reality disappear into the darkness. This is a dimension of despair that few will understand...
Furina sat on the window sill, with a grimace of dissatisfaction. With an expression that spoke more than a thousand words, she complained about the lack of results from the grand marriage plan she had been plotting for the past weeks. In her hand lay a cupcake, as bitter and black as her soul at that moment, which she did not fail to emphasize loudly and clearly to her employees.
— I left her umbrella on the desk but he totally ignored hit and she didn't even bother to come to the office. I gave him the day off and a double invitation to the Lutece Cafe. Who did he invite? Melusine. I literally took her to the place where he had been sitting all morning, I stood there for so long and it didn't work because she decided to sit with the animals. — She stuffed a cupcake into her mouth. — Are they doomed to tragic love? Am I not the best archon? — she asked the guard who was just entering the room.
The man quickly understood the context of the situation. Not that he had anything else to gossip about at work lately. Archon Fontaine's schemes, try as they might, were not that secret. Half the people in Palais Mermonia must have seen her efforts and expected the results. At least the books weren't flying back and forth over their heads. And that was already a success in itself.
— You are the best archon, Lady Furina — as he said this, he placed a crystal bowl full of warm, dark brown cupcakes straight from the oven.
— Wait a minute... Wait a minute... — Furina abruptly pressed her nose against the glass.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. There were two people standing at the bottom. She would recognize them from a distance. [Reader] looked from side to side, as if searching for onlookers around her. Once she was sure no one was there, she placed a gentle kiss on the man's cheek. None other than Iudex of Fontaine, who looked back at her one last time with a tiny smile and entered the building.
— WHAT! — echoed around the room.
As if on cue, several guards standing guard in the corridor burst into the room.
— Everything is fine, my dears! Furina cleared her throat. — Well actually, the momentous moment has come because I helped love triumph. Like a mystical cupid sent from above to the little ones who do not want to accept this feeling. Remember, when the door is closed, this magical force will enter through the open window! Because there is nothing stronger than love!
The guards blinked in surprise and nodded, sheathing their weapons. Whenever they didn't understand the lady's poetic words, they simply agreed with her. They didn't always have to know what exactly they were about.
— Please contact Miss Charlotte and invite her to the palace immediately for a private audience. I expect that everyone at Palais Mermonia will receive an issue of Steambird tomorrow morning. Whoever handles this has to be in line outside the door at dawn, before the presses start rolling, understand?
— Yes, lady Furina! — they saluted in unison.
— And I'll play the doorman in the next musical! — she added.

dendrobiums. scaramouche x gn!reader (angst, no comfort, argument)
prompt #14: "you don't love me, do you?" this is an entry for @versadies writing collab farewell love!!
Tumblr media
you had known kunikuzushi for a long time, but not long enough, as it seems he holds secrets to himself he doesn't wish to share with you, his companion, his lover. you believe that upon being cursed with immortality, you've seen it all; the woe and joy that the people around you experience.
though, seeing him distressed and quiet as of late caused your heart to twinge with an inexplicable searing pain. living in a peaceful house isolated within the heavenly fields of inazuma, you found it hard not to feel lonely sometimes, with kunikuzushi being oddly silent.
your kimono fluttered in the light wind that blew, causing the blades of grass to bend under its command. despite your lover's strange nature, you decided to be patient with him, as you always are. vibrant dendrobiums filled the basket you cradled in your arm, planning on gifting them to kunikuzushi who's been cooped up in the house.
a lovely smile adorned your lips akin to vibrant flower petals as you walked back to the house. lately, the air was menacing, as if no one lived in the small cottage you reside in with him. the cottage was perched on a cliff above water, cutting off the bustle of the nation from your peaceful life with him. you close the door behind you and peer into the hallway around the corner.
the door at the end was agape, where you assumed he was laying in bed again. entering the shinshitsu, you greeted him with a, "good evening, kuni." before sitting on the futon, back facing his figure. a few moments of silence passed.
"i picked dendrobiums for you. i know you're not a big fan of flowers but they were blooming so beautifully and... i thought you'd like them." you meekly commented, fingertips grazing against the flower's stem. "kuni-" you turned around and in an instant he was on top of you, pinning you to the futon as the basket of dendrobiums fell to the side, spilling its contents across the floor.
your pupils dilated. his grip on your wrists tightened but you didn't mind it at first; he would never hurt you. "kunikuzushi?" you repeated, in a hushed voice this time. he finally looked into your eyes after what seemed like an eternity.
those electric violet eyes that you've come to love, filled with such hatred.
"do not fool me. why are you here?" kunikuzushi interrogated, teeth gritting together. "just to love and abandon me, is that it? are you staying longer for the pleasure in knowing how much it will hurt when you finally leave?" tears released from his angry glare that landed on your cheek. "i'm here because i love you." you simply replied.
kunikuzushi clenched his jaw. "i said, don't lie." his nails began to dig into the skin of your wrists and at that, you felt your heart rate slightly quicken. "why would i be lying, kunikuzushi?" you breathed out. "you never tell me anything."
at that statement, kunikuzushi's eyes widened. "what do you- what do you mean?" he asked, his grasp loosening but refusing to release. "do you doubt me that much?" you queried with a trembling voice, a tear slipping from your eye and falling onto the futon.
"what happened to you, kunikuzushi? what did they do to you?"
"shut up. you don't know what you're talking about." he whispered, more tears beginning to fall from his eyes. he let go and backed away from you as you sat up, following him out of the room. "you need to tell me something! anything!-" kunikuzushi ignored your protests and covered his ears, "you wouldn't understand. you never understand!"
you paused, "you've never touched me once, don't you know?" he stopped in his tracks. "you never look at me. you haven't done a single thing since we began this hell of a relationship where we promised we'd give each other the affection we never had!" you panted, voice straining to keep a loud volume.
you were afraid he would run away from your inquiries again, from letting you know why he's so distant after years of being with you. that's when you realized, there was only one possibility left.
"you don't love me do you?"
he visibly tensed up. your eyes filled to the brim with more tears bound to escape. all he has to do is say those three words you never heard him tell you before, and you'll be fine. you'll continue to live under the same roof with your lover, who may not tell you everything, but still adores you.
if only that were the case for poor you. poor you, who was victim to the hurtful words he spouted at you, telling you that you're right, he doesn't love you. he supposes he just used you as some sort of mental stability from the people he's met in the past. he supposes that he considered none of this real from the very beginning.
you stood there, hands by your sides as hot tears continuously poured down your face with your mouth slightly agape. oh, the truth hurts, doesn't it?
"love you? i absolutely loathe you, (y/n)." kunikuzushi finished off, shoulders rising and falling with each heavy exhale he took.
a little later, kunikuzushi took a walk to clear his mind. his half-lidded hues flitted across inazuma's heavenly welkin, a gut-wrenching feeling weighing within him. the sun was beginning to set, and he comes to a conclusion. he should learn to let go of the past by now and he'll start with you. you, who have been nothing but patient and gentle with him, you, who never left despite the cold shoulder he gave.
yes, it's always been you. you're the source of his happiness, the reason he wishes to arise to another morning. kunikuzushi feels guilty for what he said earlier and decides to make it up to you by picking dendrobiums, much like the ones you gifted him earlier that he so rudely threw away.
with a hopeful smile gracing his features, he walks through the grass to pick very specific dendrobiums all the while making sure they were perfect from top to bottom, fit for his lover.
kunikuzushi's hands were soiled with the dirt from the ground yet he didn't mind, just as long as he had you waiting for him at home. he sighs out with a grin, rushing to the front door. as he opens it, a strange thought settles in the back of his mind.
the aura seemed a little emptier than usual, but he shrugged it off as the fact that the two of you left off at a bad mood. kunikuzushi was more than ready to apologize, his smile faltering to a smaller one as he realizes you'd probably be mad at him, though he'd understand.
because it doesn't matter, because you'll still stay. to think that you'll be the first person that doesn't betray him still takes him aback sometimes and now, he's ready to accept it.
"my love, i've returned." the nickname sounds a little odd at first, rolling off of his tongue; kunikuzushi hasn't called you an endearment like that, ever. he rounds a corner and makes his way down the hall to the shinshitsu. when he slides the shoji doors open, he drops his flowers but quickly picks them back up.
"(y-y/n)?" he stutters out, gaze anxiously darting about the room as he searches for your presence. how long has he been out for? maybe one, two hours? where could you have gone in all that time? this is when he begins to panic.
kunikuzushi leaves the room and searches all over the house. "(y/n)!" he calls again in a more desperate voice. not now, not yet. he runs outside, panting as he tries to get to the city. stay, for just a little bit longer, he pleads within his mind, hoping to catch sight of you.
you promised...
dodging past hordes of people, he catches a glimpse of you at the docks. kunikuzushi's eyes grow wide in realization. he recollects himself and manages to escape the crowd. his hand reaches for your figure.
"excuse me?"
"huh?" you look up at the man before you who called. "o-oh, nevermind. i thought i saw someone." he stammered, rubbing his neck. you nod your head and enter the boat where you cross paths with your close friend, beidou.
you can see the visible frown on her lips. "you sure you wanna' leave, kid? i mean, it's great you want to continue traveling with the crux again like you used to, but-" you stop her short, "it's alright, beidou. but i appreciate your concern."
you sigh through your nose, giving inazuma a sorrow glance. you'll never forget the lovely puppet you met. the lovely, yet misunderstood puppet.
and that very puppet you were thinking of couldn't do it. he stayed behind a wall, akin to a coward. would things have ended differently if he learned to control his emotions? would you still be in the cottage embracing him in your arms?
he clutches the dendrobiums in his hands, his rigid nails digging into the stems as he thinks about all of these possibilities. kunikuzushi returns to the home he once shared with you with a heavy heart.
upon arrival, he drops the flowers. tears start pouring and in just a few moments, does he start crying like he did those countless nights and for more to come now that you've realized what he truly is.
nothing but a ghastly monster that takes your kindness for granted.
kunikuzushi cries and cries, his body failing him as he falls to his knees. the poor puppet's tears land onto the withering dendrobiums as night covers the whole of inazuma. "i didn't mean it, i didn't," he sobs, recalling the way you looked so harmed by his words.
"i didn't mean anything, i'm sorry," he apologizes to no one in particular, but the wind replies, for it tousles his hair and causes his face to dry, only for more tears to continue dripping. kunikuzushi supposes this is the way it was always going to be like. none of those betrayals were really his fault now, were they?
it's because he can't handle abandonment, and all he wants is to be loved. when he enters the empty bedroom and lays onto the futon, eyes sore from crying, he thinks about a specific time.
the time when you loved him, and always fought for his attention.
"kuni, look!" you presented him a dendrobium, "isn't it pretty? it's pretty just like you!" you happily chirped, walking by his side. kunikuzushi stayed silent as he looked around; anywhere but your gaze. you avoided a frown from placing itself on your lips.
"h-hey, what do you think of nature? it's fascinating, isn't it?" you asked, tilting your head as an attempt to view his expression. blank.
kunikuzushi hisses at the memory, resenting himself for constantly ignoring your obvious yet somewhat subtle acts of affection. fresh tears peek at the corner of his eyes.
"kuni, i bought you dango from the market! i don't know if you like it, but you can always try!"
"i don't."
you stammer, "h-huh?" kunikuzushi emphasizes, "i don't like desserts. they rot the teeth." he mumbled the end of the sentence and your shoulders sink, "oh, i see. well, that's perfectly reasonable!" you laugh it off with that signature smile of yours.
kunikuzushi closes his eyes. he'd do anything to go back to that moment. he would've told you that it was his favourite thing in the world to eat; dango. kunikuzushi wishes he didn't pretend he never saw the desserts that rotted in the trash that you bought or made just for him.
at that, he begins to wonder what your baking tasted like. you often did it for him...
"kuni? i only realized yesterday that, um, you never told me your birthday and i feel a bit bad for not noticing sooner. so i made you a cake to make up for all the ones i missed!" you said with a smile. all of the hope in your eyes dissipates when he looks at you in disgust.
kunikuzushi sighed, "eat it yourself. don't you ever listen to what i say? i hate sweets."
the next morning, a dark cloud hangs above the puppet's head. he believes he has no purpose without you. he tends to try and convince himself that he resents you, but can never bring himself to do it when he knows the truth he hides deep down.
when he joins the fatui and becomes scaramouche, there are only two reasons he continues to push on further. to steal the gnosis for a heart of his own so he may finally apply to love you again.
but what use is it when you've already moved on?

A love that will last an eternity
Tumblr media
ft. Jing Yuan, RaidenEi!reader
synopsis. You are the ruler of Inazuma, a planet that is known as "the nation of eternity". You come in contact with Jing Yuan, the general of Luofu. How does your relationship bloom?
Warnings: Fem!reader, spoilers of Ei's backstory, unlike Ei, you do not trap your people and try to take their visions, you'll just be trying to find eternity, might be ooc.
This is so long lmao. I tried to make it short but I had too many ideas to make it short 😭
Resources were running low on the Luofu, hence, the General was sent to the closest planet to negotiate plans to stock up resources. The planet in question? It was Inazuma, known as the nation of eternity. JING YUAN was arranged to meet the ruler of Inazuma, you, the Raiden Shogun.
Jing Yuan found you to be very stoic. And he thought that was just how you were. But to his surprise, he found out from your long time friend, Yae Miko, that the Almighty Shogun he has been meeting was actually a puppet. And that you were inside the Raiden Shogun, finding your so called eternity. Jing Yuan, admittedly, thought it was quite strange. But, upon realising what you've been through, your sister's death, losing your friends one by one, he completely understood your choice. He himself went through many deaths in his life, but he knew that confining yourself and having a puppet rule your planet was wrong. Even if he hadn't properly met you before, he knew that he had to try convincing you to come out.
So with Yae Miko's permission, he entered the Plane of Euthymia for the first time. Of course, you were surprised. He has trespassed without your permission, yet you weren't surprised that Yae Miko was the one behind his entry. However, due to him trespassing without your permission, you decided to propose a fight. If he were to best you, then you would allow him to talk. Though he accepted the challenge, he was unsure of how strong you were. He considered to decline, since this wasn't even his planet that he was saving. But he decided that if he were to save your planet, then he would gain more connections with other people. Leading to him accepting. The battle was long, and tiresome, there didn't seem to be a clear victor. And this was starting to drain you guys' stamina.
"It appears that the rumors hold true; you are truly a formidable warrior," you say, your voice slightly strained from the prolonged battle, your breath still catching up. A genuine smile graces Jing Yuan's face,
"you flatter me, Almighty Shogun. You, too, are a strong opponent. How about this, this fight has been going on for far too long, and just like you, I have some business I need to do in Xianzhou Luofu. Why don't we talk things out instead of fighting?"
After a few negotiations, you both agreed on a conclusion. Jing Yuan will show you the Xianzhou Luofu, as an example to how a nation will look with their ruler present for centuries.
Fast forward to when you and Jing Yuan arrive on the Luofu. As you walked around with Jing Yuan, you two got a lot of stares from the people in Xianzhou. But it's no surprise, it's not everyday that you see the Almighty Shogun of Inazuma and the General of the Luofu in one place. Strangely, you didn't quite understand why everyone was staring.
"why are people staring at us? Don't they know it's rude to stare?"
"well, it's their first time seeing the Almighty Shogun and the General walking together. Of course they would stare at us."
"it's not like we're here to cause trouble. Why can't they just mind their own business..."
As you two walked around Xianzhou, trying different foods, looking at different attractions, you both were indulging in some small talk. Jing Yuan thought you were very cute. You were more casual as compared to your puppet, and he felt like this was a breath of fresh air. Especially since you acted like he was just a normal person, instead of fearing him due to his position.
After a long day of walking around Xianzhou, you both decided to sit down for a while to eat some Xianzhou delicacies. While eating some dessert, you noticed something poking out of the general's pocket.
"what is... this strange device?" You say, pointing at his phone in his pocket. Judging by his face, Jing Yuan was caught off guard. You don't know what a phone was? Have you been in the plane of euthymia for so long that you had lost touch of the real world?
"this is a phone? Do you not know what a phone is?" He says while taking out his phone, and letting you look at it. "It's so slim... This is unlike anything I've seen before. Oh! What's this..?" He moves his head to watch from over your shoulder, and sees that you've accidentally opened the camera app.
"this is the camera app. You can take photos with this app." He looks over to see your face, he expected to see amusement displayed on your face, but he was met with the sight of your confused face.
"photos...?" Oh. You also didn't know what photos were. After an attempt to explain what photos were, you were left with even more confusion than you had before, so he proposed to take a photo of you to demonstrate how they work.
While taking a photo of you sitting down and drinking dango milk, he couldn't help but admire the way your hair moves in the wind, and how elegant you were in your inazuman clothes.
"is it done?" You say, interrupting his thoughts,
"wait a moment, I just need to find the right angle" he reassures, as he crouches down, he could hear you complain under your breath about how photos were such a time consuming activity, making him chuckle a bit.
After a moment, he walked back to the seat right as you were finishing up your drink. Upon seeing your photo, he loved the way your face morphed from confusion to admiration.
"this photo... Is so beautiful..." You quietly mumble, unknowingly leaning closer to Jing Yuan, causing him to slightly blush. A few passerbyers were shocked to see the well-known general of Luofu blushing because of a girl.
The day where you had to go back to Inazuma came. And Jing Yuan absolutely dreaded for the day to come. He loved spending time with you, and if you went back, he had to travel so far just to visit you again. So, on the morning of your departure, he surprised you with a little gift.
"is this... The device with the camera app?" Jing Yuan gave you the phone for you to examine
"yes, but not only can it take photos, but you can also communicate with others"
Jing Yuan taught you everything about how to text, how to call, and how to send voice messages. By the time you guys were finished talking, it was already time to go. You both decided that you would walk together one last time before you depart. As you walked, he added your contact to his contact list, he was about to name your contact before you interrupted
"no need for the formalities. You can just call me y/n." You say, looking at his screen, where your contact was named "Raiden Shogun"
Jing Yuan chuckled, he was glad he could finally call you by a shorter name, it was getting quite tiring saying "Raiden Shogun" every time to address you.
You finally reach the ship that will be carrying you back to Inazuma, and Jing Yuan doesn't feel like letting you go just yet. Even if you guys have contact with each other, it doesn't feel the same as walking with you in real life. Before boarding the ships, you both exchange your goodbyes, and Jing Yuan reminds you to text often.
As you board the ship, you look back one more time, just to see his face one more time. Once you board the ship, you begin to realise how fond you were of Jing Yuan. You seemed to enjoy yourself more, you were smiling more, and it was even the first time you had someone address your actual name for a long time. For the first time, you wanted to land as quick as possible, so you could talk to Jing Yuan again. You look at your contacts, which only contained Jing Yuan. You felt like your visit to the Xianzhou Luofu was refreshing, you finally realised that your ways were not right, and you were ready to correct them.
...
1 year has past since you met Jing Yuan, and you two have been texting almost everyday. You were updating Jing Yuan on your nation's situation, and he was giving more advice on what choices need to be made, and what was needed for a fully functioning nation. You completely trusted him, after all, he's lived for centuries and has witnessed the Luofu's growth. But you could also feel the way your chest felt warm whenever you had a video call with him. And he's felt the same way. You both really wanted to see eachother again, to walk together again, maybe even have Jing Yuan visit Inazuma again. But you both knew that being in charge of a nation means that there is hardly any time to visit other planets. Especially since you've taken full control of Inazuma now.
The summer festival in Inazuma was just around the corner. Thankfully, the one in charge of planning the summer festival was the company owned by Yoimiya, Naganohara Fireworks. Though you had a short break, you weren't planning on watching the fireworks. Whenever you saw the fireworks, you were always alone, and it always hurt to be reminded that all your previous friends were no longer here. Coincidentally, Jing Yuan has gotten a two week break around this time. As well, just a few days ago you were complaining how lonely you would be on the day of the festival, which really made Jing Yuan's heart ache. He relates to the feeling of being alone, he's lost many of his friends too. But something in him doesn't want you to feel lonely ever again. Something in him wants you to feel what it's like to celebrate the summer festival with someone you love.
The day of the summer festival comes, but all you're doing today is going for a walk around the beach, you didn't usually go to the beach, but that's precisely why you came. Just so you could escape the way your heart aches whenever you go to a place where you used to visit with your sister. So you went to the beach, where you didn't have any memories of your past. Suddenly, you stop in your tracks. A few steps ahead of you, sat the general of Luofu himself. As if he could sense your presence, Jing Yuan turns his attention away from the ocean and to you, smiling as he sees the way your eyes widen in surprise. Still in a daze, you begin to sprint towards him, excited yet confused to see him. You had thought he was busy, why was he here?
Still a bit bewildered, you unknowingly hold his hand, which caused Jing Yuan to blush a bit, but you didn't notice.
"Jing yuan..? What are you doing here?" He chuckles, he could see the hint of happiness from the way your voice sounded slightly more high-pitched.
"Well I just so happened to be on break for two weeks. So I decided to accompany you today in the summer festival." He felt his heart thump faster when he saw how happy you were to see him, still unaware of the stares they were recieving from passerbyers, who were surprised from how happy the Almighty Shogun was. Upon realising how close the two of you were, you both quickly pull away from each other, embarrassed from how your lips were so close to touching his.
After calming down, you both talked about your past experiences and the friends you used to have. Which almost had you tear up.
The two of you silently stared at the ocean, simply enjoying each others company. After all, you both have lost many friends in the past, it's always nice to find a new friend that you can spend the rest of your immortal life with. That was when Jing Yuan suddenly grabbed your hand,
"come on, the fireworks lightshow will begin soon. I heard it's best to see them at Amakane Island, mind showing me the way?" You gently smile, as he pulls you up, and the two of you make your way to Amakane Island. On the way, you point out certain stands that you recommend, just like how he had done when you first came to the Luofu.
The two of you arrive at Amakane Island, of course, many people were staring. The last person they expected to watch the fireworks show was the Raiden Shogun. But at this point, the both of you could not care less. You were only here to have a good time after all.
After looking around for a good spot to see the fireworks, you finally settled on a spot where you could fully see the fireworks, it was also far away from any people, so the two of you could have the space to yourselves. The fireworks erupted in the sky, though this wasn't your first firework show, this was the first in a long time that made your heart warm instead of it aching. While you were mesmerized by the light show, Jing Yuan broke the silence
"you know, you really make my chest feel so warm." He begins, but this sentence alone made you blush, which didn't go unnoticed by Jing Yuan
"I'm really grateful to have someone like you to be by my side. But I know that, one day, we might never get to see each other again" You began to wonder what he was trying to say, you were a bit nervous that he was going to leave you, forever. Which made you worried, but your worries quickly vanished when his eyes met yours.
"would you like to become my girlfriend?" It took a while for you to truly process what those words meant, did he actually mean it? Should you accept it? After all, you two would have a long-distanced relationship, so wouldn't it be better to just stay friends? You slowly lower your head, but, you couldn't bare to stay friends with him, because you also returned his feelings. If you had declined, then it would feel like you were lying to yourself. I mean, you can handle a long-distanced relationship, right?
"don't feel too pressured to agree. I don't want to force you to be in a relationship you don't lik-"
"No." You say, cutting off Jing Yuan, you lifted your head back up to meet his eyes once again, his eyes looked shocked, he didn't expect you to cut him off like that. You lightly smiled, just to reassure him, this causes his eyes to soften at the sight of your beautiful smile.
"I'd like to be your... Partner." You say, embarrassed to say the word "girlfriend". Jing Yuan found your embarrassment amusing, causing a chuckle to escape his mouth. He grabs your hand and bows down to kiss the back of your hand. A firework explodes in the sky, just as he mutters a sentence into your hand,
"then let's spend the rest of our immortal lives together."
Bonus
Jing Yuan: the ship just landed back in the Luofu, hope to see you again soon ^^
Y/n: I would like that too, any festivals coming up?
Jing Yuan: there are no festivals coming up... but it's okay, you can just visit when I'm on break.
Y/n: alright then, will you message me when you're done working?
Jing Yuan: of course. Well, I'll see you later, my love.

-> I am like you - so never abandon me. In this world, it will be me and you side by side.
-> gn!reader (no pronouns mentioned) with platonic brother Scaramouche! Spoilers for Scaramouche and Ei's backstories! Scaramouche is referred to by his real name!
-> Small mentions of death - not detailed! Unhealthy family dynamics?
Tumblr media
Kunikuzushi came into this world as a mere experiment into the making of pupets. He wasn't meant to resemble the Electro Archon as he was merely a test to the limits of such technology.
While Ei didn't expect much to anything from it, yet she was still disappointed in him or rather disappointed of how he turned out. He was too emotional, too human perhaps, for her desired outcome. An imperfection.
This did not deter her, however. The second time she decided to create a puppet, she wanted something closer to the end result she wished. So, she created you. But even you were not what she hoped for.
Yes, you did resemble her - like how a child would resemble their mother, but that was not what she wanted. As neither of you aged or changed it was easy to mistake Kunikuzushi as your twin - the resemblance between you two was even more apparent than with your mother!
But what Ei seeked was a clone-like puppet to rule Inazuma in her stead - under her command, while she would seek Eternity for Inazuma in the plane of Euthymia. Neither of you fit into her standards, as she saw you to be too kind hearted, too human to rule the nation of eternity.
So you were cast out. Simply thrown away like used toys after she finished playing with them... She saw this as a kindness - but it seemed more like she felt guilty. That she felt like she owed you two that much after giving you life when you clearly felt like any other human.
Together you would stumble through the country side as wanderers, all while trying to learn everything about the world around you. Endlessly seeking something. Something to give you meaning to your existence, a reason to life. But if your own creator - your own mother turned you away, what purpose could your life possibly serve?
No matter where or how far you wandered together, it never ended well for you or those around you... They would either betray you or die - which your brother saw as another form of betrayal. Especially when the small boy had promised to...
At least through it all, you had each other. During the freezing nights spent sleeping outside - huddled together to avoid the biting winds, or days were you had to resort into leaning against one another after not having eaten in days. Helping each other through every nightmare...
Though you might not have completely noticed it, but all your hardships had changed Kunikuzushi over time. He was colder and more suspicious of others - always asking after their intentions. He smiled and laughed less... It was what he had to do to make sure he would never be betrayed again, it was to keep you both safe.
You were the only one to never betray him, and the only constant in his life... He knew he could always count on you, but he was becoming more paranoid. He kept thinking and dreaming of you either dying - with him unable to protect you, or you joining with the rest of the world in betraying him.
In a twisted sense, he was rather glad you were meek and dependent on him. It lowered the chances of you betraying him, unless influenced by someone else - which he wouldn't let happen. As well your own fear of abandonment wouldn't allow that to happen. But not to worry, as he was just as loyal to you. He would never let anyone or anything harm you, just as long as you stood by his side loyaly.
As he decended from his hopeful, happy and naive personality, he would come to cherish it in you. He wanted protect this part of you at all costs. You could still see the world in that sweet innocent way after all that happened to you, while he couldn't afford to do so - lest he put you both in danger. It was a sacrifice he was more than willing to make for you.
Even when the Fatui picked you up and he became the Balladeer, he wasn't opposed to hurting his fellow Harbingers or any Fatui member if they dared to threatened you or your life. You were his light in the darkness and the reason he actually wanted to create the world the Tsaritsa spoke of.
He never let you see that side of him though, you never met Scaramouche and for good reason. To you he was simply Kunikuzushi - your older brother, who protected you - even if his protection meant essentially locking you inside, unless with him of course.
The Fatui and its Harbingers essentially hated and despised him. He was cruel and never in a good mood, often screaming for any reason to anyone. While with you he was sweet and gentle, making jokes and doing menial tasks to keep you entertained.
You were the last piece of Kunikuzushi he had left and he would let you - and only you, keep it.
Tumblr media
After seeing his backstory I've just been wanting to hold and comfort him - so I'm just milking out content from that, but I do have others coming ^^3
Feel free to reblog :)

Empress Court group costume idea!
The Empress dressing up as different Archons, and her Courtesans dressing as the guard/foot soldiers of each nation. This including the actual Archons of said nations.
Kinda makes me wonder how Ei and Furina would react to Empress wearing a perfect replica of their own outfits.
~🐁
Furina would think it’s the funniest shit ever. She’s on the floor laughing and slapping the wall, yet feels extremely proud if you choose to dress up as her. She’s even willing to give you her hat for the bit (yes, her precious top hat that she never wants to take off) and stares at you like you are the most beautiful thing to ever exist! (Because you are <3)
Ei on the other hand, would be a bit confused as to why you’d choose to dress up as her, but wouldn’t say anything as she thinks it’s endearing how you’re trying to stay in character.
“Inazuma shines eternal!” You’d try to exclaim in her voice, only for Ei to scoop you up in her arms and pet you like a small hamster. Even when you are trying to mimic one of the most dangerous archons in Teyvat, you still look too adorable to resist 💕

"Papers, Please" [Thoma/Reader]
note: Thoma is underrated, and we don't talk about him being a fixer enough teehee.
prompt & content tags: Exploring the possibility that the resistance failed, Inazuma's borders became stricter than ever before. Thoma begs the inspector to let (Y/n) in last minute, but it's a far more challenging ordeal for a "fixer". [tw: death]
Tumblr media
Teppei is an immigration inspector selected by the Kujou clan in the labor lottery held in October. His designated checkpoint is in Ritou, where most visitors would assemble to submit their required paperwork in an attempt to gain entry into the main city.
And that's where his importance lies. Teppei is in charge of controlling entry based on the given documentation. Declining on those who gravely need their jobs and family makes him restless, but after several near-terrorist calls, stamping passports with approval makes him equally uneasy. Still, he must perform this task. His family back in Watatsumi is the only thing he thinks about. His grandma is still ill, and the harsh winter has only made her condition worse.
“Hey there, Teppei!” He heard a voice from the other end of his booth. “Can you open up? I need to show you something.”
After the divider noisily rose, a bright young man waved in front of him. They were no strangers to one another. It was Thoma, Ritou's “fixer”.
“Glory to the Shogun.” They both greeted unenthusiastically, but Teppei's eyes trailed to the clunked metal that landed on his booth.
It was a locket.
“I have a favor to ask,” Thoma did not waste a second. “Their name is (Y/n). They're missing some documents. Please let them in.”
Teppei raised an eyebrow.
“I can't have another citation…” Teppei muttered. “If I get another violation, I can't pay for extra heating this week. Finding a job is hard enough with my record. My granny—”
“Please, Teppei.” Thoma gripped the table.
Horror momentarily seized Teppei's wits as he saw the desperation in the Mondstadter's eyes. Thoma's face was suddenly unfamiliar. Ordinarily, he'd attempt to win him over with a hearty meal or an under-the-table pay. He is not the fixer for nothing. None of the tricks that were once parlor for him were not being used. Just what makes this so different?
Teppei glanced at the time while Thoma glanced at his fortune slip.
He has 5 minutes before officially starting work while he has the words of great misfortune on his hand.
“... What's your proposal?”
Thoma's shoulders slackened in relief. “When the traveler first arrived in Inazuma, she took the Alcor with another person.”
The traveler…
Inazuma had hopes comparable to Naganohara fireworks upon Lumine's arrival. She had seemingly arrived in various nations to solve their issues. Many were eager to see their dreams come to full bloom, freely soaring in the sky, but they would only spark momentarily before fading into the night. That, to Teppei, was what happened in the failed revolution.
That, to Inazuma, was the dead light that cemented their current state of affairs. That, to the rest of the world, is what made the nation of eternity come to a standstill.
The resistance no longer nursed their anger but their wounds instead. Upon their disbandment, Teppei nearly found himself charging to Inazuma City with a sketchy vision. But before he could take a foot out the door, his grandmother collapsed. And so too did his delusions of grandeur.
“I'm not going to risk granny's comfort for another pipe dream,” Teppei laughed cynically. “It's time you let it go, Thoma.”
“No, no, you don't understand!” He shook his head, sharply inhaling. “You can't make me let this go— this isn't about the resistance.”
Teppei held the locket's strings between his fingers.
“I can't see how it can't be about it. Thoma, I fought in the war, I saw the corpses of my friends lying stretched in the city instead of our homeland. None of us would make light about giving up if we escaped scatheless—”
“It's not! This one's personal.”
Teppei opened it.
There's a folded photograph inside. Upon sensing Thoma's consensual nod, he spread the page to see the full picture— and subsequently, his foolish paranoia.
“(Y/n) isn't Inazuman, but they're not a descender either. They're not interested in starting another war, they just want to see me. Just that. They’re the least greedy person I know and that's their only wish. And it might just be the final one.”
In the picture, Thoma was smiling beside the (Y/n) he spoke of. They were surrounded by dogs and presumably had frosting on their cheek. Thoma held a cupcake in one hand and their back on the other. Playing with food is not an activity the ever-so-grateful Thoma willingly participates in, but the childish grin on their faces made them look as though the rest of the world was secondary.
Teppei had not realized he had been frowning. There he was, holding Thoma's happiness encased in an inked vessel. Based on the wrinkles, he can only guess the number of times the immigrant held onto this fragile solace.
The sight of this image alone makes Thoma forget his heart's heaviness.
“... You love them.”
“I do.” Thoma looked down, biting his lip. “I do.”
The fixer breathed in shakily.
“I think about (Y/n) every day… Do you… Do you remember the time you and I talked about our ideal partner at lunch, and you said my tastes seem so hyper-specific?”
“I honestly thought you were just gonna say someone with a good personality, not a list of things you think is pure domestic bliss.” Teppei chuckled.
“Well— I was just describing (Y/n),” Thoma blushed. “I miss the way they'd—”
“Recommend food to try? Link arms together while you walk? Point or gush about when an animal passes by? Smile when—”
“Yes, yes, all that.” Thoma grinned sheepishly, scratching his neck. “You get the point. I'm surprised you still remember those details. I'm… glad. That someone will remember (Y/n) and not just me.”
Teppei didn't quite understand what he meant by that back then.
“Now that I can put a face to those details, it's like I already know who (Y/n) is.” He said.
“Well, you will soon enough.”
Teppei tilted his head, which urged Thoma to elaborate. He cleared his throat.
“Just last night, I received word that they're finally here in Ritou.” He rambled. “I know this is sudden but our communications were blocked for a long time. Please, let (Y/n) pass, and I will owe you, big time. Honest! Please!!!”
When Teppei was relatively new on the job, he had dealings with the fixer often as to who deserved to enter the country. Some, they both got away with. But in the times they did not, he received warnings. Those warnings turned to salary deductions. Those salary deductions turned to possible dismissal.
And Teppei can't have another M.O.A.
“Are they missing a document?” Teppei said. “Are they on the criminal list? Forged documents? Why are you here, then?”
Thoma slowly got on his knees, which jolted Teppei up in an attempt to stop him. With the booth on his way, Thoma was already on the floor, begging with his entire body.
“Please…”
“G-Get up, Thoma!”
The sound of soldiers banging on the door alerted them both.
“INSPECTOR, IT'S TIME TO START.”
Thoma scurried off wordlessly and Teppei went back to his booth. With time against him, he pulled the lever and let the people know that it was the start of a grueling day.
Teppei preferred to separate his work from his heart. Back when the two were the practically same, he had sacrificed so much with little in return. Twice the dreams, but even more than half the payoff. He was not a starving artist off on his craft. Teppei was a fool who thought independence could fill his stomach.
So when several people had begged to see their family, he turned a blind eye to their suffering and detained them. So when those who secretly slipped a letter in his booth, begging for their passport to be denied for they were being sold off to unsavory services, he spoke nothing.
If he made a slip-up, another “freedom fighter” might enter with their Fontainian muskets. If he made an outrageous error, more people might die. The last time it happened, one of his Watatsumi friends assigned as a guard got his head blown away. Which is why the only other person he gets to talk to in this monochrome job is Thoma.
Work life is bleak. His grandmother is what he has left after he threw his life for the resistance. The Kujou Clan might just send him to prison if his performance is terrible this month. He can't lose her too.
And so, he hoped Thoma’s lover could legally pass. The shogun does not take kindly to those who were sent by the breeze of pirate ships. If (Y/n) was one of these stowaways…
“Papers, please.”
“Are you Teppei? I heard you were a friend of Thoma's.”
Teppei stiffened.
(H/c) hair and (e/c) eyes…
He opened their passport.

“H-He said that you are a friend and that you'd help us out…” (Y/n) muttered. “I don't have any family left, that's why I momentarily traveled with Lumine. To see the world. I didn't have anything to live for, until I met him…”
Teppei's hands trembled as he looked up.
Think about what you have left...
Think about granny...
“Your entry permit?”
(Y/n) wore a troubled look as they shook their head.
Teppei gulped. “ID Supplement?”
They shook their head again.
Teppei slouched down.
“... Vaccine Certificate?”
Silence.
“I'm… sorry, (Y/n)—”
“P-Please, wait!” (Y/n) teared up. “Please, I don't have anywhere else to go to. My love, I know he's just behind that door, waiting for me. Please, Teppei.”
Teppei sighed. “Why not come around next month with these requirements—”
“There is no next time. I'm…” (Y/n) felt their eyes start to burn up. They told themselves they'd stop crying and face their dilemma bravely, but it's easier said than done.
They are the sand that had already passed through the hourglass. And there's not much left at the top. Even the greatest doctor in Liyue had nothing else left to say about their condition. The only treatment they could receive was a zombie's cold touch of “comfort”— a grim reminder of what (Y/n) will become soon enough.
I'm sorry (Y/n), you're no longer contagious, but…
“I don't have anything left. Just not-enough-boxes-in-the-calendar and so-many-sorries .” (Y/n) gazed at him earnestly. “You… You understand what I'm saying, don't you? I…”
Teppei's eyes widened.
No.
No, he doesn't want to understand.
Stop this, please...
“I… want to spend my days with him. It's… it's all I ask.” (Y/n) smiled, but it was weak, no different from the rest of their body. “And it's my last and final request.”
“I'm… afraid I'll have to give you another sorry.”
Teppei looked away. Quickly, he stamped their passport before he could hesitate further.
“I'm sorry, (Y/n), but I can't,” Teppei muttered. “If the world decides who gets their way based on who is the most unfortunate, Inazuma would be an open country. But… but it doesn't work that way, doesn't it?”
(Y/n)’s smile soured from weak to bitter.
“Y-Yes, I… I understand.”
They remained in their positions quietly. The red ink had dried long ago, and (Y/n) could leave whenever they wanted to. But their feet were ingrained on the floor, not wanting them to add more distance between them and Thoma.
“Please… Please tell Thoma I will always love him.”
Teppei harshly shut his eyes, feeling his face wrinkle. If he could do the same for his ears, he would.
“Please tell him we will be together, in another life.”
Tumblr media
Thoma rarely comes to Teppei's workplace.
Even his own. Lady Ayaka, in her increased lonesome, often lets her lips flow out strings of concerned mutterings for her retainer. Thoma frequents bars more often. And at the estate, he would be seen staring into nothing with a broom in hand. No staff trusted him in the kitchen, not out of disdain but heavy worry. On one occasion, the lord of the manor's hand loudly echoed as it landed on Thoma's cheek. They all begged him to snap out of it.
But he cannot.
“He's already not very good with alcohol and yet he proceeds to down sake as though he could handle it.” Madarame sighed. “He always has a room in the clan, and I would never take that away from him, but…”
“Maybe it's time we let him go,” Furata spoke. “I say that not out of malice. I believe young Thoma deserves to see the world again, like (Y/n) had— maybe we are the ones chaining him down. Our Lady said they're buried in Liyue, perhaps…”
People talk. Their chatter is endless. But they all fail to mention how Teppei's decision had buried (Y/n) in a pirate ship.
However, Thoma can't bring himself to be angry. Before Teppei could stamp the passport, there was already a truce in this folly. How can he be mad when he cannot offer words of reasonable counsel to persuade an inspector?
In Thoma's eyes, it was not Teppei who failed (Y/n).
It was…
“I'm sorry, (Y/n)...”
Himself. And he will never forgive himself for it.
All (Y/n) has, even when they are long gone, are ticked-off-calendar-boxes and a-grave-of-sorries.
The blonde man clung to his locket yet again. His breath tasted like alcohol. When was the last time he ate a cupcake? He can't remember anymore. He can't remember the warmth of another human's touch. He can't remember the joy of it all.
He just knew that he "will always love them", too.
“I-I'm so sorry…”
Even if it hurts.

kaedehara kazuha
about us: the traveller
the traveller… at first i assumed they were a god, with how easily the wind and earth bent to their will. now i know that they are only a medium for one, but i still wonder: were they not a vessel, could they still have stood against the shogun?
about us: the creator
friendship lv. 4
in inazuma, a near-constant storm blanketed the nation. rain pelted the earth, a flurry of sounds and smells making it impossible to find any rest. during such storms, i could only find solace at shrines, the gentle scent of incense drowning out the earth. i don’t miss being on the run, but sometimes i miss that sense of peace. the quiet only found at the altar… it’s unmatched.
about you: worship
friendship lv. 6
i, kaedehara kazuha, am many things. i am the last survivor of my clan, i am an outlaw from inazuma, a wandering samurai, and even a spotter for the crux fleet. and yet… with you, it doesn’t matter. with you, i am kazuha. you allow me to dedicate myself anew, without any of my past clinging to my shoulders… for this, i am eternally indebted.
wanderer
about us: the traveller
what about them? an outlander who was blessed by the highest of high, saving nations at their god’s behest, blah blah blah. we’ve all heard it before, so why make me recount it? if an inventor in fontaine knows who they are, then i’m certain you do.
about us: the creator
friendship lv. 4
my creator? haven’t i made my thoughts on her clear? the raiden shogun and i-… oh, you mean… for starters, i recommend the usage of titles when speaking of the divine. true gods must be respected, and crude titles like ‘the creator’ are irresponsible at best. how would you like it if i referred to the geo archon as ‘the dead one’, hm?
about you: worship
friendship lv. 6
…thank you. and… i’m sorry.
bonus!
tighnari
about the creator: ecosystem
in order to survive, an ecosystem has to maintain a careful balance, watching over everything to ensure nothing is out of place. …in a way, i suppose the same can be extended to the divine: a careful hand correcting any mistakes and helping along the plants— the people that struggle… it’s a rather beautiful metaphor.
baizhu
about the creator: violetgrass
the creator has blessed us with many medicinal herbs, used to treat and cure a wide variety of ailments. it saddens me, sometimes, that not everywhere is touched by the same blessings… there are certainly herbs i’ll never be able to see, and herbs from liyue somebody from, say, natlan will never be able to see… but that is not an inmediate concern. for now, could you pick me up some violetgrass? i’m afraid qiqi forgot to write it down in her notebook.
