my grandmother is a frequent guest on a political radio show and due to decades of work with the pdx police force to train them in mental health situations, reduce police brutality and weed out as many racists as she could (there are some stories there), they had her interview some sheriff candidates and one of them proposed a ton of new police programs — none of them actually helpful either; he basically wants sharpshooters and tanks — and when she asked him where he expected to get that kind of funding he said “we can take it from the public bus system. kill two birds with one stone by getting the money and removing undesirable people from the area” and holyyyyy sh!t my jaw dropped. like this is somehow worse than the mayoral candidate she interviewed who went on a rant bragging about how involved/invested he is in qanon like damn this man wants to perpetuate environmental destruction and worsen the lives of his fellow citizens bc he’s a racist who wants to shoot big guns and like… i have no conclusion to this post other than saying that local elections are as important as statewide and national ones. we need to stop giving these mfs any power.

Thinking about the fact that Mike and Will are insinuated and blatantly shown to be attached at the hip, crying-screaming-throwing up over each other for an entire decade and now fighting / showing signs of romantic interest in each other (one confirmed)….but NOT ONE SINGLE SOUL over the course of this entire show (including their parents) has ever called their relationship brotherly or said they were like family?

honestly I’m still floored. Like.

As someone who has watched a million and a half shows and movies, “you’re my brother” or “they’re like family” is one of the easiest plausible deniability things you can do in writing to give yourself an out for a queercoded friendship (especially one with a confirmed gay character)…and the duffers absolutely refused to do it—and instead gave the familial coding to mlvn. It’s iconic.

Alright, so me and my sisters just got done watching Stranger things season 4 vol 2 and we are depressed now…

I normally don’t post my own commentary on here, but I feel like talking about vol 2 right now, and about my own thoughts on it.

*SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT*

Personally, I really loved this season. I loved all the seasons, though this one just might be my fav. And I know a lot of people have mixed opinions on this, and that’s totally fine. I respect your opinions, and I understand.

The action scenes were amazing, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! But let’s talk about what everyone else is talking about, shall we?

Yes, that is Eddie’s death, and Max’s near death.

Let’s talk about Max first:

Needless to say, we were freaking the f*ck out! God, when I saw her bones cracking, my heart dropped to my feet. And when she actually “died” I thought she was really gone for good. Thank god El was able to somehow bring her back. But, even though Max is alive, she’s still in horrible shape and is in a coma. Then El tried to get into her mind once again towards the end, but she didn’t see Max anywhere. Idk what that means, but I just hope she doesn’t die, and that she’ll make a recovery in the 5th season. I’d feel awful for her if she is permanently blind tho.

Though, I do wonder if she is missing from the void because her soul still belongs to Vecna or something. Because he needed 4 kills in order to open a crack for the upside down to come to the right side up. And, of course, it happened after Max “died.”

I also wonder if she’ll still be in the coma for season 5. Because I know there will be a time jump to better match the actors’ ages in real life.

Now for Eddie…

Like everyone else, I wish he didn’t die. That was the saddest shit I’ve seen in a long time, and that’s still affecting me now.

I know those demobats probably would have come into the right side up (our realm) through the gate if Eddie didn’t sacrifice himself being a distraction, but considering that soon after that, the demobats died because the hive mind was in pain, then they would have died anyway and no one probably would have been hurt. I mean, I guess the bats still could have killed Eddie in our realm (and probably Dustin too) but that was just sad, man.

And though Eddie still COULD have made it back safe, and proved his innocence, there would always be people out there who would think of him as a killer. It would follow him everywhere he went no matter what he did. That probably would have been the alternative death for him.

So, in some way or another, it probably couldn’t have happened any other way for him. He would never have been able to live his life normally if he had survived.

Not to say that I would’ve preferred him to die. Trust me, I wish he lived. :,(

Anyway, it was sad watching those two characters die and/or be in such pain. I really relate(ed) to those characters, the Duffers did such a good job portraying them and their issues.

And I’m excited to see how this all plays out in season 5 with the upside down coming to the right side up n stuff. (Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 3 years, because my heart can’t handle it.)
