Thinking about Mike freaking out and talking out loud in s5 because he's worried for Will's safety- but instead of the s3 Mileven type confession where he admits it and everyone stops to smile, it's more aggressive..

"I can't lose him- not again. You know I can't! It's not the same for you- you've never-" And there's this brief, wide-eyed silence where everyone just kind of watches, this sudden realisation being absolutely devastating for the whole room while they wait for what he's about to say. And then, "I won't let them have him again." and with that Mike Wheeler picks up his fucking rifle and walks out the door.

This boy is not letting Will Byers leave him alone again. He will pick a fight with the devil himself if he has to. He's taking it into his own hands, he doesn't care about the consequences, he doesn't care who lives and dies... even if he doesn't survive the fall, he's got to save Will.

"Too late" for a Byler twist? Absolutely not:

"They've built up Mike + El for 4 seasons! You can't suddenly have Mike like Will in the last season!"

It doesn't take long to make the audience favor a ship, so long as the seeds have been planted, and the seeds HAVE been planted for Mike and Will, especially in s4.

Let's look at another example in the same show. In s2, Steve left Nancy drunk at the party. Yes he had a reason to be upset, but it was very dangerous to leave your girlfriend like that. It was Jonathan who took her home. And in her drunken state she expressed feelings for him. He could have taken advantage of the situation but knew not to do so:

Viewers then knew that Jonathan was better for Nancy. THAT ONE SCENE WAS ALL IT TOOK. And it was the 2nd episode of the season!

The groundwork just has to be laid first. And there is MORE groundwork for the "surprise" in Byler's case. Season 4 was chockful of evidence that Mike and Will have growing feelings for each other. And the triggering event has already been prepared: Mike finding out about the painting.

And El isn't speaking to Mike at the end of s4. Contrast this to where Steve and Nancy were at the end of s1:

The only thing preventing some viewers from seeing the possibility of Byler is heteronormativity, our cultural tendency to assume characters are straight unless shown otherwise. (Which also affected me as a gay guy before I saw Byler breakdowns online.) I'm confident that the "surprise" for many viewers will be overtaken by the desire so many people have for Will to have a happy ending.

There only needs to be ONE SCENE.

i'm actually going to be so upset if byler isn't endgame bc it would absolutely ruin mike's character like why was he being a dumb dick around will in s3 & some parts of s4 if it wasn't a silly way for his subconscious to deny his undeniable love for his best friend? why did he say he loved el the moment he saw her in the woods the day will went missing??

i'm fairly certain byler WILL be endgame based on the sheer amount of evidence throughout the entire series but in the slim chance it won't happen... duffer brothers i will be coming for you

just imagine its the end of season 5 episode 3, byler have had another veiled heart to heart about friendship and whatnot. we see mike walk into his room, a song starts up in the background, he kneels beside his bed and pulls out a dusty box. tentatively he takes it, sitting on his bed and after a few beats he opens it up and takes out its contents: a stack of paper. slowly the camera pans to the letters, all starting with "dear will," and ending with "love mike" but the contents are made up of scribbled words, sentences rewritten time and time over. as he shuffles through them, he starts crying faintly and through choked sobs, he whispers, "im sorry will, im so sorry"

you'll have to stop the world just to stop the feeling

it fades to black and the credits roll

THE THREE WATERFALLS ULTIMATE THEORY

So. Okay. Let's get this shit done.

The waterfall as a symbol can be interpreted in many different ways, depending on cultural, historical, and personal context. Here are a few common interpretations:

Nature: Waterfalls are often seen as symbols of nature's raw power and beauty, representing the majesty and grandeur of the natural world.

Change: A waterfall symbolizes change, as it is a constantly moving, evolving entity. The flowing water can represent the passage of time, or the journey of life.

Cleanliness: The waterfall's cleansing properties can symbolize purification and renewal, often used in religious or spiritual contexts.

Abundance: Waterfalls are often associated with abundance, fertility, and prosperity, representing a source of sustenance and life.

So. Mike said ''three waterfalls''. Giving the word waterfall the last meaning, it symbolizs that life keeps going. But using the meaning of change, the thing changes (haha humor de cuñado).

Three waterfalls. Three ''changes''. Okay. What could this mean? Of course something that changes the whole series. Something that screams revolution 'cuz it's the end of the season and all that stuff.

Also: ''Waterfall change management is a sequential and linear approach to managing changes in a project or system.''

This could mean that, through the whole season, we are gonna see three important changes/plot twists, but happening slowly? And the three waterfalls Mike said could be the final product of those changes. Of course Mike and Will are gonna have romantic interaction in season 5. And shut up you milkvans 'cause it's undeniable. Like, really. It's confirmed Will's in love with Mike, so it's gonna be a important part of the season. And if we think about byler happening, we have one change.

Another change that could happen is El and Mike's relationship. 'Cause if they break up we will have a change that affects the whole series. And with that we have two changes. Now third, which i dont have any idea of what it could be. Let me know in your comments. And if we think about the video games, surprise!! Often a video game has a secret hiding within a waterfal. So, this is gonna be like 3 secrets developing on season 5.

Like, could this be a pararell with 'Fantastic beasts: The secrets of Dumbledore?'', cause there's 3 secrets along the film. And the first revealed secret (that we all knew about) Is that dumbledore and Grindelwald we in love. AND we know that will's in love with Mike. So DING DING DING!!! First secret. Also, it's clear that One/Henry/ Vecna is hidding something about Will. Cause like, really, look at this

This is NOT a demogorgon and It used telekinesis to open the shed's door will locked. And manipulated the lightning. Bro. Fr. So we will find out why Vecna took Will and not anyone else. And DING DING DING!!! Second secret revealed. The third secret could be that this little guy:

I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

#i think s5 has a TON of potential to be great don't get me wrong #but they need to drive home the characters #make the final fight rooted in emotion not throwing hands at each other and screaming #s4 i think was getting there by exploring max's arc and the hawkins plotline was perfect #so don't take this as me saying s5 will be bad #but s1 and 2 are my favourites for a reason #im just getting nervous based on them constantly banging on about how big the finale will be #ALSO they need to put emphasis on the mystery around will and the ud being frozen #if they keep it central and focus on will and eleven i think they can pull it off #but i hope this makes sense #stranger things #byler #will byers #stranger things five #st5 #stranger things one #stranger things two
