𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥
Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
Mk 15:1-39
As soon as morning came,
the chief priests with the elders and the scribes,
that is, the whole Sanhedrin held a council.
They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.
Pilate questioned him,
“Are you the king of the Jews?”
He said to him in reply, “You say so.”
The chief priests accused him of many things.
Again Pilate questioned him,
“Have you no answer?
See how many things they accuse you of.”
Jesus gave him no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.
Now on the occasion of the feast he used to release to them
one prisoner whom they requested.
A man called Barabbas was then in prison
along with the rebels who had committed murder in a rebellion.
The crowd came forward and began to ask him
to do for them as he was accustomed.
Pilate answered,
“Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?”
For he knew that it was out of envy
that the chief priests had handed him over.
But the chief priests stirred up the crowd
to have him release Barabbas for them instead.
Pilate again said to them in reply,
“Then what do you want me to do
with the man you call the king of the Jews?”
They shouted again, “Crucify him.”
Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?”
They only shouted the louder, “Crucify him.”
So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd,
released Barabbas to them and, after he had Jesus scourged,
handed him over to be crucified.
The soldiers led him away inside the palace,
that is, the praetorium, and assembled the whole cohort.
They clothed him in purple and,
weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on him.
They began to salute him with, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
and kept striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him.
They knelt before him in homage.
And when they had mocked him,
they stripped him of the purple cloak,
dressed him in his own clothes,
and led him out to crucify him.
They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon,
a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country,
the father of Alexander and Rufus,
to carry his cross.
They brought him to the place of Golgotha
—which is translated Place of the Skull —
They gave him wine drugged with myrrh,
but he did not take it.
Then they crucified him and divided his garments
by casting lots for them to see what each should take.
It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.
The inscription of the charge against him read,
“The King of the Jews.”
With him they crucified two revolutionaries,
one on his right and one on his left.
Those passing by reviled him,
shaking their heads and saying,
“Aha! You who would destroy the temple
and rebuild it in three days,
save yourself by coming down from the cross.”
Likewise the chief priests, with the scribes,
mocked him among themselves and said,
“He saved others; he cannot save himself.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel,
come down now from the cross
that we may see and believe.”
Those who were crucified with him also kept abusing him.
At noon darkness came over the whole land
until three in the afternoon.
And at three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
“Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?”
which is translated,
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Some of the bystanders who heard it said,
“Look, he is calling Elijah.”
One of them ran, soaked a sponge with wine, put it on a reed
and gave it to him to drink saying,
“Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to take him down.”
Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.
Here all kneel and pause for a short time.
The veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom.
When the centurion who stood facing him
saw how he breathed his last he said,
“Truly this man was the Son of God!”

Last Line Tag
I was tagged by @mk-writes-stuff , as per the usual, this is a bit more than just the last line. Oh well. This and the last one of these I posted are the first introduction to Mikrab.
Narul felt a strange sensation bubble in his stomach. Was this grizzled old man truly a thousand years old? Older even? “Who are you?” He asked as he took a step back. Even as he moved away the stranger stepped forward, his chest pressed against Narul’s. “Mikrab! And you, brute?” Narul gasped, he had heard that name before, it was a regular component of the stories and poems of Kishite bards and performers. It was a name that dripped with blood. “Mikrab the Mad?” The air was violently expelled from Narul’s lungs as the fist contacted his belly. Narul was lifted from the ground and tumbled backwards. He smashed through mudbrick, timber, and reed. He looked up at the terrified faces of the Makoran family whose home his body had obliterated. “Um sorry.” He muttered as he stood, and brushed the rubble from his chest hair. His stomach hurt somewhat, he wondered if he would get a bruise. As Narul stepped from the ruins he was greeted by the roar of Mikrab as the old spiritblood threw himself at Narul, fist raised to strike once more. Narul swore and stumbled backwards. He swung. His fist collided with Mikrab’s jaw and the grizzled old man crashed into a nearby cart, the unfortunate swine held within were crushed beneath him.The farmer wailed to see his livelihood reduced to a tangled pile of broken timber and flesh. Narul had little time to catch his breath before Mikrab was on his feet once more, his back now dripped with the blood of the unfortunate livestock.

OC Questionaire
My questions:
1. Did you have any formal education? If so, what was it like?
2. What is your stance on friends and friendship?
3. How would you describe your relationship with your family?
4. If you could have one wish granted, what would it be? (No wishing for more wishes)
5. What’s your favourite music?
6. What’s your number one warning sign that it is not going to be a good day?
I'll answer the first three for Izjik and the last three for Sepo :)
.
1. Did you have any formal education? If so, what was it like?
"Hah, hell no! Or, at least not the kind you're thinking of. In Edeme’eneha, a kid gets apprenticed out at ten years old to learn a trade. Given my level of energy and general enthusiasm for violence, I was sent to train under a hunter named Dzako. He was a gruff sort of fellow and never let me take the easy way out. He was a good man, Dzako was, and he did a good job with me, though spirits only knew I must've tried his patience something fierce. At least being out in the reeds was better than sitting at some cramped desk like they have the human kids do. Literacy is overrated."
2. What is your stance on friends and friendship?
"My friends are everything to me. On up the surface, everyone makes a big fuss about who you're related to, but it isn't like that where I'm from. Family is the people you surround yourself with."
3. How would you describe your relationship with your family?
"...nonexistent? Like I said, blood bonds don't really mean anything to halawemavar. I was raised in a communal nursery till I was ten, and then I lived with Dzako and his partners till... everything went screwy. I knew who my parents were and they knew who I was, it just wasn't that big a deal. They made me - so what? Everything made in the enclave is for the entire enclave, including children."
4. If you could have one wish granted, what would it be? (No wishing for more wishes)
"Ugh, wishes. I've never heard a good story about a wish. I'd wish for my brother to live again, but he'd probably come back as a seagull or something fucked up like that. Maybe I could wish for Izjik to be free of End? Mmm, but that might kill her.... You know what? I wish for one of those newfangled runic air cooling units, the ones that make your whole house cold. Final answer. I don't fuck with fate."
5. What’s your favourite music?
"Something I haven't heard yet, but I'll know it when it hits me. I'll write it myself if I have to."
6. What’s your number one warning sign that it is not going to be a good day?
"If I see Djek before I've had my coffee, it's an ill omen if ever there was one."
.
I'll tag @televisionjester @heywriters @xenascribbles @cartoonghosts and open tag :)
Your questions:
Are you a sound sleeper?
Have you ever owned a pet? If you haven't, what would you get as a pet if you could?
What do you think is your problem?

okay okay so i was re-watching mk with a couple friends a lil bit ago and my jewish friend raised the point of marc sparing harrow because (im paraphrasing here and my memory is sketchy but,) judaism values all lives and the potential that people can change.
and that made me think about marc's relationship to his religion and god. marc having distanced himself from his jewish heritage because of the abuse he suffered and because of the passiveness of his father (and potentially other family members/community) in dealing with + protecting him from wendy's abuse.
tying that in to the deleted scene with wendy—marc deciding not to kill arthur and ammit stemming from reconciling (and/or releasing) the guilt (ammit/harrow) and anger (khonshu) he's held for so long, and in doing so, reclaiming his jewish heritage. (it's clearly something that's important with him given That Scene in ep 5; the trauma and grief surrounding wendy's death being confronted and managed during deleted scene helps him reclaim it for himself?)
i'm not jewish myself so i wanted to ask someone with that perspective about this aksdxjl -khonshoe
YESSSS!!! Yes, exactly. Judaism has no afterlife, and so we strive to always be better and do better here on earth. Life is for living. The goal is to be buried in Jewish soil in a Jewish cemetery, but the dead live on in our remembrance of them, not in a literal, physical heaven or hell, like in the Christian tradition.
In Episode 5, Marc is confused by the Egyptian afterlife, while Steven geeks out about it because he’s face to face with one of his areas of special interest, but neither of them feel a sense of BELONGING in the journey. Even when Marc reaches the Field of Reeds, he doesn’t know what to do with himself there. Not just because he has been separated from Steven, which is of course his greatest source of pain, but also because this is not the way it is supposed to be. Jewish people don’t live on like this after death. Life is where we experience change and growth and redemption; death is not.
Marc finally saying NO to Khonshu is his act of reclaiming his agency over his ability to choose, which reconnects him to his faith. Judaism is a religion that values free will. It is about choice, consequence, and the ability to change. I think that it is no coincidence that Marc is only able to reconnect with this aspect of his faith after he has connected with Steven. Without Steven, he wouldn’t have been able to defeat Ammit (the goddess of deterministic prejudgment).
Remember in Episode 2, when Steven has a full-on philosophical rant to Harrow about the nature of free will and the dangers of deterministic prejudgment? That’s also the first scene where we see Steven become Marc’s emotional protector. I’m writing a whole other essay on that. Stay tuned.
Steven is the one who maintains the strongest connection to their Judaism. Steven is the one who keeps kosher (trust me, it’s so much easier to say to someone like Donna that you’re a vegan than you keep kosher — that’s what most of my friends who keep kosher do). He’s the one who has a mezuzah on his door.
Layla reminds Marc that he has a choice, and indeed he does. He tells Khonshu NO. He chooses not to take another life. And yes, that leaves Jake, the physical protector of the system, to make sure that Marc is never hurt by Harrow or Ammit again, but it does not diminish the fact that Marc has made the choice of his own free will.
This is why I say that Moon Knight is a Jewish show. But you kind of have to be Jewish to know what to look for.
And trust me, I would so much rather have THIS kind of Jewish storyline — a philosophical debate between Free Will and Determinism — than one where a Nazi child killer posing as a Rabbi “gives” Marc DID. Because not only is that insensitive to systems (and also inaccurate to how DID is formed), it is also incredibly antisemitic. After the Holocaust, Jews were accused of allowing the Nazis to rise to power without doing enough to stop them (as if an ethnic and religious minority could have done anything). Yes, Bemis is Jewish by birth (not sure if he’s practicing), but it doesn’t change the fact that this storyline is terrible by any Jewish standards. Because the implication is that Elias and the Jewish community that the Spectors were part of didn’t do a good enough job of rooting out the Nazis in their midst. Which, again, is what Jews were accused of after WWII.
I’m also glad that we didn’t get the storyline where Marc gives up on God and joins with Khonshu (a deity of the Biblical enemy) because Marc views God as being weak for allowing Jews to suffer for millennia. Like, yes, that is a huge Jewish pain point. It totally is. Do I really want the discussion of that pain point in a mainstream television show where non-Jewish people delve into it? Honestly, I really don’t. It is still an incredibly sensitive topic, because Jewish people are still recovering after the Holocaust. One of my uncles was born in a displaced persons camp in Germany after the War. The family were in hiding, and so they managed to escape the concentration camps, but because of his mother’s malnutrition during her pregnancy, my uncle has no fingernails or toenails, and he has ongoing major health problems. Do I want a Marvel show delving into that, and getting it wrong? Nope, nope I don’t.
OKAY, I’ve rambled on for way too long now.
THANK YOU for your Ask!

how did v feel about becoming a spy? did they and johnnie have any blowouts on working with the government? what was their first impressions upon entering dogtown?🎤
OOOOOH okay i have sooo many thoughts about this hehe. I'll tag this also as Phantom Liberty Spoilers
For anyone following me who hasn't played Phantom Liberty, Spoilers ensue after this Sentence.
Okay so my V is Corpo ! V, but has bitter feelings about being used and how they were raised.
Becoming a Spy.
V(ance) hates authority. Hates governing bodies. After being raised corporate & working for Arasaka, they'll never listen to any large governing body ever again. be it the NUSA or a Mega-Corp.
Not to mention, Vance smells the two-faced nature off of President Myers. They know that everything she says is just putting on airs. They've seen it before and they'll see it again, she's no different except being more powerful than other suits.
As for Dogtown, I have a particular headcannon that he's been once before when he was much younger, around 15. Remember that one gig with the sports center? yeah. So Vance when he was a model had to get cyber-legs to work with jinguji for their line. and getting cybernetics before being fully grown is dangerous and most rippers in NC won't do that. So his parents took him to dogtown to get that work done. But it was only once and he was very protected and safe during that journey. Returning however, brings back those ill memories and the bitter relationship they have with the place.
At this point V's relationship with johnny is very developed and they still have arguments, and johnny can feel how he's drawn to So Mi, relates to her even and her forced augmentation (he was in the same scenario just on a smaller scale) and Johnny knows that Vance is also drawn to the blackwall. He probably is frustrated with V's eagerness to help her, and warns them of how it'll make big enemies with the NUS government. But otherwise Johnny is pretty much on board because let's face it. He and V know that So Mi doesn't deserve to be a slave ever again. She deserves her freedom and she fought for it. Vance wants to live, but he is a martyr at his core and wants to do good. He relates to So Mi too much to see her suffer anymore.
However I personally love the Reed Path and the Maxtac + Cynosure playthrough SO MUCH, that I kind of think maybe he helped Reed first, not because he trusted him but out of doubt, and then freed songbird once gotten to the core of Cynosure... I'm still not sure. Either way I think when So Mi uses V as a proxy during the moon ending, that some of it lingers. I use the Militech Canto MK.6 (haunted cyberdeck) which I KNOW YOU CAN ONLY GET IF YOU DO THE REED ROUTE BUT YOU CAN STILL SPAWN IT IN... In character I think he'd help So Mi BUT LIKE.... THE REED ROUTE IS TOO GOOD TO PASS....
IM SORRY I WROTE SO MUCH i'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THE DLC AND THE BLACKWALL AND SO MI AND CYNOSURE AND THIS WHOLE DLC IT'S SO FUCKING COOOOL T,T

I know this is a dumb question, but would you mind explaining the Kemetic afterlife in layman terms? I still can't wrap my head around some of the concepts.
tl;dr: it depends on the era
pre-dynastic egyptians, the Buto Burials, show that there was still heavy focus on cattle, and ppl were buried wrapped in cow skins with a small amount of stuff. likely, to get them through the afterlife? to get them to wherever they needed to go. texts are sparse.
earliest dynastic eras of AE mostly focused on the king, a lot of egyptologists believe that the afterlife was only available to the king in the earliest eras of AE history, but i personally don't feel like we have enough information to really say that.
either way, you crawled up into the sky with teh gods. you are both saved by the gods and the enemy of the gods. you consume the gods and become a god. there's a lot of ladders.
the pyramid texts of the OK become the basis of coffin texts in the MK. tbh, a lot of the texts are really similar. i've flipped through both the PT and CT, and they are very similar. you still go claw and caojle your way to the gods until you become an akh.
later periods, the afterlife moved more into the ground, into caverns. BotD materials p much focus on this aspect of the afterlife, and by the latest periods, you get the Book of Earth which is... as the name suggests, funerary texts about the afterlife in the ground.
egyptologists will tell you that they prepared tombs and texts to get them through the afterlife, and that this persists throughout all of AE history. and that these things seemed necessary to be able to even become an akh, but i've personally never been a big fan of assuming that you need a bunch of physical shit to get to the Hall of Two Truths. it just doesn't sit right iwth my that commoners were somehow barred from an afterlife because they didn't have money. instead, i prefer to think that rich ppl needed to jump through hoops because rich ppl are awful at adhering to ma'at :)
anyways, after you die you're nothing but a shadow, a really weak spirit that isn't fully Established. your goal as a spirit is to become Established, to become an Akh. a "shining one." akh are represented by stars, because in the OK, you went into the sky when you died and became a star (which, again, goes against the idea that only the king could get there omg).
in order to become an akh, you gotta make it to the Hall of Two Truths. in order to get there, you need all that shit you were buried with (supposedly). you end up going through a journey of the duat, you meet different guardians and are supposed to know the right things to say to get through the gates and make it to the Hall. traditionally it's believed that the path to the Hall is treacherous, because the Duat has a bunch of things living in it that would love to eat you, but my personal experiences of the Duat haven't bore that out (esp in the modern era, idk maybe it was all spooky n shit in the past).
but also, i'm really not down with suggesting that poor ppl just get picked off because they didn't have money.
Naydler posits a different theory, that the process of going through the Duat and meeting all of the guardians and such helps you to become prepared for the Hall, and you only reach the Hall if you're actually ready to become an akh.
The most well-known part of the Hall is the negative confessions (sometimes called the 42 truths of ma'at, which is not a good name for them) and the weighing of the heart.
the confessions are really meant to be heka that fully transform you into someone who will exist within the structures of the Field of Reeds (sometimes called... aaru). by reciting them, you become the person the heka says you are. if you're not an absolute shit person, the heka should be enough (imo) to get you through the process.
after you say the heka, your heart is weighed and if you're "good enough" O welcomes you as an Akh into the field of reeds. from there, you can sorta.... do all sorts of things. but basically, after you become an akh, all of your physical trappings are no longer necessary to sustain you. you're able to come and go btwn the Duat and here, and you're able to partake of the offerings the gods receive each day (lol).
you are established there now, so you don't need to be fully established here. that's why the most dangerous time for a dead person is right after they die up until they pass through the Hall. this likely informs why later kings were not too concerned with robbing old tombs to refill their coffers. similarly, it mirrors the way that the AE ppl seemed to view akhu veneration. you would focus on specific ppl who are within a generation or so fo yourself, and then anyone who is beyond that point tended to get moved into a collective "past ancestors". the egyptians may have done this because after a point, you don't really necessarily /need/ the direct assistance of your remaining kin, because you are now fully established in teh duat.
i could include here what happens if you don't pass the weighing of the heart, but i'm gonna be real with each and every one of you: most of yall don't have shit to worry about. whatever trivial mistakes you're making in life are not what gets you fed to ammit. i'd say to not trouble yourself with that and just focus on being the best you you can be. care about others around you, care about yourself, don't be an exploitative shitbag, and you'll be fine.
idk, hopefully that helped.

Ralph (Detroit: Become Human) and Wheatley (Portal 2)
