Us:

Jonathan and Mina are such healthy „married couple“- representation. Even in the past most stories focused on romantic couples who still had to become a couple.

And when there are married there is jealousy, cheating, divorce etc

But not Mina and Jonathan. They support each other without question and they aren’t boring. They are such interesting characters. Why modern adaptations do big make use of their couple dynamic is beyond me

It's pretty crazy how many people I see hating the 1992 Dracula, for not being faithful to the source material ? I mean... There's no truly faithful adaptation of Dracula yet made at this point, so why is this adaptation getting the most hate for it ? What if the film was poorly written, but it isn't ? It is very well done overall. Essentially, it takes inspiration from the source material to create its own story and that's okay, as long as it's done well. And I might get haters in the face (I'm used to it) but that's what I think.

Also, the romance between Dracula & Mina rocked my childhood and I find it magnificent.

On top of that, the film has some great things to say about cinema and religion in general. I know there are a lot of problems with Coppola, but I'm focusing exclusively on the film as a whole. And you know what ? Liking this film does not prevent me from loving the novel and the original romance of Mina and Harker, hoping one day to see a faithful adaptation. Both are possible. It's fiction after all. Does it at least exist outside of me people who like the source material and the 1992 adaptation at the same time ?

anyways, I’m glad for Dracula daily because the book is one of my favourites because of the characters, and now others who probably wouldn’t have picked up the book get to see it!

And yes, I did cry during their marriage and I don’t think I could ever capture how that scene affected me so this is just some domestic bliss.

MINA HARKER

A bit of Dracula fic:

Aside from uni, this business trip would be the longest amount of time Mina and Jonathan had spent apart since meeting. She tried to think of it as being like uni, him at Manchester and her at Cambridge, but something about it felt different and ominous. It was his first big task for the law firm and she was trying to be supportive, but a trip to Romania to shore up legal proceedings with a client who has no wifi and limited technology? It didn’t seem like a job the junior partner should be doing.

In order to relax, and not sit in her flat doing post-semester lesson revision, Lucy invited her out to Whitby for the duration of Jonathan’s trip, two weeks. Mina hoped that the sea air and long walks on the cliffs would pull her mind away from Jonathan and her desire to overwork. Lucy promised it would be a good time. And yet, the heavy feeling in her gut wouldn’t go away. Was it just that she was used to Jonathan always being accessible? That him being out of range like this for weeks was scary in the face of a hyper-connected relationship? Is she too clingy?

Her phone buzzed. A message from Jonathan with an image of his suitcase filled to the brim with his clothes and favorite snacks. She could see the monogrammed toiletry kit in there, he always enjoyed a good shave, and she’d given him it for Christmas. She smiled at the image and sent a photo back of her bag with the message “Lucy’ll probably send me home with more clothes than I’m bringing”.

Another text to Lucy with the same image, “all packed and ready to go! I’m catching the 12:15 train after sending off J”.

JH: “meet you at the station in 15”

LW: “perf! see you soon. I’ll send a car to the station if mumsy isn’t home by 2”

Mina sighed, zipped her bag and sent a kissy face emoji back to both of them.

Mina: if I do end up becoming a vampire I hope there’s someone willing to kill me! Can’t think of anything worse than being a killer and hurting my loved ones!

Jonathan: if Mina does end up becoming a vampire, I’m gonna become one to be with her! Can’t think of anything worse than letting her go through this alone!

I love both of them so much. So so much.

Mina: “Unclean! Unclean! Even the Almighty rejects me! I am bound for Hell!”

Jonathan: “Mina, sweetie. Tell me what I need to pack.”

Mina: *so confused she stops crying* “What?”

Jonathan: “I’m going with you.”

Dracula: Storm the Castle (Concept Poster)

Summary:

Wilhelmina Murray, a schoolteacher who goes by Mina to her friends, hasn't heard from her fiancé Jonathan Harker since he left on a work trip to Romania a few months ago. With no word and the months passing by, Mina has grown worried.

But then, a letter from Jonathan arrives. He explains that he is doing well and that he would like for Mina to come to Romania as a chance to scout the area out for their honeymoon. While suspicious of the contents, Mina now has proof that her soon-to-be husband is alive, and she knows his location. With her bags packed and a tearful farewell to her friends, Mina heads to Transylvania, Romania.

However, it does not take long for Mina to realize that something is amiss. How the townspeople react to the castle whenever she brings it up, the fact she is even having trouble to find a ride to the castle, not to mention the strange Ladies of the Castle who welcome her in... With no Jonathan in sight.

But Mina did not come all this way for nothing. No matter what horrors await her, Mina will find Jonathan and they will get married. They both waited long enough.

Hello fellow people of the Dracula fandom! I'm sure you all saw my draft ideas on how I would try to adapt Dracula floating around the tags. Being introduced to the pairing of Jonathan and Mina has done something to my brain and I felt compelled to get my ideas out there.

I would like to make this into an animated show since I am a storyboard artist but, in the meantime, I wouldn't mind posting all my concept art for my idea. Stay tuned cause I'm planning on doing concept designs for Mina and Jonathan, maybe the Vampire Sisters as well.
