for your post on Hades and Persephone(also to comment of Dracula and Mina): I dont know what it is with people's obsession of constantly making Persephone the victim (especially when Zeus does so much fucking worse to so many women) Even if the legends weren't as you describe. I love turning stories into something postive and empowering for Persephone both romantically and just over all her becoming the literal queen of death. I feel like people just constantly want to make women victims? The whole point of turning Hades and Persephone into this great and legendary romance is to give back power to women. For Mina and Dracula. I am so sick of people whining about Mina falling in love with Dracula. Honestly maybe Dracula is more intriguing than Johnathan. Maybe just let girls be monster lovers/fuckers for a change.
Yes ! Let's let women be monster fuckers for a change !

I've already seen many pages do this kind of post, so I thought of trying to do the same.
Yeah, I know some of these dynamics are unhealthy and kind of problematic, but, honestly, I don't care. I would still die for each of them 😍
(I wanted to include Belle and Prince Adam from Disney's Beauty and the Beast because I also love them very much, but, sadly, Tumblr doesn't allow more than ten photos per post, so... that's it, I guess 😄)

This song ✨🖤❤️💀✨
This song and Mary On A Cross are the most beautiful and romantic ones Tobias Forge has ever written. The romantic, gothic, dark and erotic vibe about it... 😍😍
It gives me all the "Death and Maiden" vibes. Mina and Dracula, Erik and Christine, Emily and Victor... and it makes me wish to marry Papa Copia. It's a delicious song.

My little post on Mina. Because I'm tired of everyone saying that the 1992 film version doesn't fit into the strong female character box just because it's not a carbon copy of the original version of the novel and that she doesn't have the purest morals in the world, in addition to being in love with Dracula. Honestly, that seems misogynistic. Thinking that to be strong, a strong female character must conform to a very specific model, be morally irreproachable and above all not be in love with a bad guy. Otherwise she is not strong and has no nuance, and is an apparently misogynistic character, that goes without saying...
Honestly, this is really starting to annoy me on a very high level.
Not to mention another crappy argument that Mina is just horny for a guy she's known for 2 days, which would make her look ridiculous. A guy who, I remind you, is none other than her husband from a past life, who resurfaces as she spends time with him. Dracula is no stranger to her in this version of the story.
You will tell me if you agree with my position. Regardless, I don't think 1992's Mina is a female character who isn't strong and is apparently misogynistic. This is bullshit.
Afterwards, people are free to prefer the book version and find the Mina in the film less successful than her original counterpart. No problem there. I would even say that there is a great deal of truth in that.
But to say that Mina from the 1992 film has no aspect of a strong female character is simply bad faith in my eyes.
I have never read the book, so the only knowledge I have of Mina is from the 1992 movie. Personally I love the movie and think Mina is a interesting character. She is the whole reason Dracula gave up in the end isn't it(its been a while since I've seen the movie)? I think people forget that characters are not ment to be role models. Characters are just ment to be characters. Flawed interesting characters. Strong in their own ways. But not role models. Mina is flawed and thats what I like about her. She does horrible things too but in the end she listens to her conscience. As much as she loves Dracula (and loves how he helped her explore her sexuality) and wishes they could be together, they can't because of all the bad things. Doesn't take away the tragedy of losing each other again. And thats the point. Dracula the movie is a gothic horror/gothic romance movie based on the original gothic horror.
What annoys me more is when people try to bring morality and logic into something that is clearly fiction. Also when people try to dunk on the female falls for a monster trope. It always leads us back to abuse and women being horny(wow come up with that yourself 😑🙄, never try to look deeper) . Honestly do you think straight men would have the balls to fall for a monster type females(that looked, acted and stayed a monster)? And we all know why! *cough misogyny cough* *cough men only seeing women as objects and not people with flaws cough* if a women can see the flaws/darkness in man by using the moster symbolism but still love them anyway why can't men(straight men)?
(Don't like don't read. Post hate and I'll block you)

Dracula but
1. It plays in vienna because research has showen that it first was planed to to play in that setting since there was this weird vampire obsession under Franz Joseph in the habsburg empire. Also i think it would be fun.
2. Mina and dracula fall in love and she is in no way manipulated by him, but jonathan later thinks she is.
3. She and Jonathan sit in a viennese kaffeehaus and Dracula sits a few tables away. Mina and him make eye contact. She thinks about last night where she snuck out and they had some spicy fun time.
4. Jonathan has no clue and as he finds out that his beloved has special time with a vampire he asumes it is vampire seduction (or van helsing thinks that and jonathan is like "yea, that makes sense") and they try to catch dracula while Mina plans to run away with him.
Idk i just think about this a lot...

Rating: 4/5
Book Blurb: A gripping second-chance retelling of the classic Nosferatu & Dracula tale! Listen to them, the children of the night… Mina Harker bites off more than she can chew the night that she and her fellow treasure hunters open up a tomb with more in it than just some dusty family relics. A monster is now loose, and has his sights set squarely on her. The vampire is ancient, seemingly unstoppable, and claims to know Mina from another life. But as history begins to repeat itself, will he get another chance at love? Or is he forever doomed to be alone with nothing but the corpses he leaves in his wake for company? Caught in the alluring web of the unknowable creature, Mina has to choose between her friends…and the man with the red eyes who seems to call out to her very soul. Warning: The Vengeful Vampire has themes of murder and betrayal. But mostly just a lot of murder. This is “horror romance,” so some content may be upsetting to some readers.
Review:
A Dracula retelling in which Mina and Dracula end up together? Uhm ABSOLUTELY. The story follows Mina Harker, a treasure hunter who accidentally unleashes a creature from a tomb with her treasure hunting friends. A monster that has set its sight on her and claims that he knows her and that they have a shared history. Despite everything. Mina can’t help but feel the truth in his statement. Yet everyone around her makes her question whether or not she can trust him. Mina must decide whether she can follow her heart or listen to her head, whether she is willing to risk it all for love or if she has to be parted from the one person who understands her. There is also the question of who hired them for the job to unleash said vampire and if said vampire is evil or not. This was a fun retelling, I’m a huge fan of the dracula x mina ship ( yes I also adore the classic novel but I can enjoy this ship too haha). This definitely was right up my alley and Vincent was just such a sweetheart for Mina. It was an interesting modern retelling featuring treasure hunters, vampires, and a an interesting new take on the other characters. Overall, a fun read!

It's pretty crazy how many people I see hating the 1992 Dracula, for not being faithful to the source material ? I mean... There's no truly faithful adaptation of Dracula yet made at this point, so why is this adaptation getting the most hate for it ? What if the film was poorly written, but it isn't ? It is very well done overall. Essentially, it takes inspiration from the source material to create its own story and that's okay, as long as it's done well. And I might get haters in the face (I'm used to it) but that's what I think.
Tumblr media
Also, the romance between Dracula & Mina rocked my childhood and I find it magnificent.
youtube
On top of that, the film has some great things to say about cinema and religion in general. I know there are a lot of problems with Coppola, but I'm focusing exclusively on the film as a whole. And you know what ? Liking this film does not prevent me from loving the novel and the original romance of Mina and Harker, hoping one day to see a faithful adaptation. Both are possible. It's fiction after all. Does it at least exist outside of me people who like the source material and the 1992 adaptation at the same time ?

My Dear Lady,
I write on the behalf of Mr. Jonathan Harker.
He has fallen ill and though his health improves, I cannot permit him to leave my care. However, he begs for your presence at his side. He is with me at Carfax Abbey in Essex. Come past 10 to-night if you wish to see him. You may remain as my guest to be with him for as long as you wish.
Your obedient servant,
Count Vlad Dracula

*me, writing a text, mumbling* Mina and Dracula
*suddenly my brain* Mirena is Mina! She is Mina Harker! Mina got turned into a Dracula love interesting again and Jonathan erased!
Yeah I didn’t got that during the first TEN times I watch Dracula untold!
Tumblr media
But seriously? I think it worked here.
This adaptation is so far from being Dracula at all, that it works… even though they use a trope that I can not stand
It is like Sherlock and the T-Rex. Actually everything can work if it is just bonkers enough
