So Hoyoverse is just making characters based on me now, huh. They got Neuvillette out there crying for days on end and constantly apologizing and trying to be helpful and not understanding how people work or how should he talk to them but still genuinely wanting to, huh.

He loves me, He loves me not. (One-Shot)
In many possible AU's, someone could be lucky enough to be Zhongli's (mortal) lover, the famous Liyuean in the Harbor. they get to experienced his gentle and patient love, his sweet whispers and caress cuddling them a good night.
yet all was for nought, when they realized Zhongli could only whisper those sweet things because they reminded him of Guizhong— who he kept insisting was his mere friend.
; attempted angst (no comfort?), Zhongli x Reader, Guizhong (mentioned), distorted perception of love(?), lowercase
Tumblr media
it was a humble day in Liyue Harbor. the night was calm with its gentle breeze, the laughter in the night market being its main jolly tune. amidst the pairs of lovers, people could see the most famous one walking hand in hand.
Zhongli could most definitely feel the gossips and stares. although he was already immune through the millennia that he had to endure it, the same thing couldn't be said for his dear lover.
❛darling, should we brisk walk to that boutique?❜ he asked as he sneakily placed his free hand on his pocket, glad that he remembered to bring a stash of Mora. after all, his lover has been paying for their dates the past few weeks. it was only fair to pay them back.
❛oh, is there an occasion?❜ they asked as though unfazed, yet Zhongli could feel their grip tightening on his arm. he caresses his fingers through their clothes in hopes to calm them down.
❛hm? should there be an occasion to show my love for you?❜ Zhongli felt them flinch at his question, but he paid no heed thinking they were merely shocked.
❛(Name)?❜
to them, they grimaced at their involuntary movement. their heart beating erratically as the searing burn in their chest began to flame hard. his question ignited the ugly emotions swirling within, even with their attempts on quelling it down.
they didn't think Zhongli had noticed, but he had been quite different lately.
from the start, (Name) didn't mind his stories. in fact, they asked for them. they knew that Zhongli isn't just the 'man with abundant knowledge' because he is the knowledge itself. the history of Liyue weaved in his hands.
it wasn't the reason they loved Zhongli though. it was more than that and he could see it— see the genuine love they held for him.
when they asked about his history, Zhongli complied. a smile adorning his face that (Name) could swoon over.
it soon fell when he kept talking about her. every. single. day.
❛these meals were one of Guizhong's favorites. I brought these when she's feeling dejected. I think you'll come to like it too.❜
❛do you love the gift I crafted you, my darling? the inspiration originates in one of Guizhong's creations.❜
❛she truly is a magnificent god. her beauty is as beautiful as the Liyue skies. might I tell you that time where—❜
❛hm? of course I love you, dear. nothing could ever surpass my feelings about you.❜
now, they weren't jealous. their love stood strong even when the fear attempts to pierce through. multiple what-ifs going through their head, but they didn't bother themselves to it. Zhongli loves them. he didn't love her, he said it so himself..
..so why does it feel like they were only a replacement for someone Zhongli couldn't have anymore?
❛(Name), are you alright?❜
❛huh?❜ they blinked, suddenly finding themselves staring right into his handsome face, ❛no, of course not.❜
when a frown etched in his face, they realized their mistake, ❛I- I mean! no, there's no need for an occasion to show one's love. anyway, let's go to the boutique?❜
the smile went back to his face once more. and it was infectious as their clouded mind began to clear, their steps a tad lighter as they went ahead to the newly opened boutique.
when they arrived, the staffs greeted them with pure customer service. they didn't suffocate them much with it, but their stares told a different meaning; they love the gossip too.
❛welcome to Lion's boutique!❜
(Name) was kind of glad the staffs kept their professionalism. else they'd dug themselves a hole and hide forever. after a few chit-chats and fake smiles, the staffs went ahead and let the loverbirds roam around the shop freely.
❛Zhongli, what do you think fits me best?❜ they questioned, fiddling with a random fabric.
they could hear him hum as he thought of a reply. they knew that their lover had a keen eye in clothes as much as he is in history. soon enough, he offered (Name) a specific grey fabric, a loose dress fit for most adult Liyueans.
❛these shall do.❜
❛alright, thanks!❜
thinking nothing much of it, they merrily whisk themselves in the fitting room. their heart basically soaring at the fact that Zhongli chose them a clothing. it was the first out of all things they've done as lovers, so it felt quite special.
when they came out, Zhongli's eyes creased with a smile— the soft, endearing look they received made everything worth it.
❛that fabric design suits you well, darling.❜
if (Name)'s heart could jump out and fly away, it would.
❛thank you, love.❜
the dress was fine, the dress was fine. they thought repeatedly as a thought occured.
❛Zhongli, what do you think should I wear next-❜
❛what a coincidence,❜ he utters loud enough for them to hear, ❛the design on your clothes..❜
he paused, suddenly noticing something. when he had that familiar look again, (Name) knew what was about to come as their confidence slowly dwindled. they could only hold back a frustrated sigh as they let him do as he pleases.
❛it is similar to how Guizhong once embroided the Glaze Lilies on her skirt once for a formal occasion, to emphasize how much she truly loved the flowers.❜
you could've just said you love her too.
❛..how interesting,❜ they grit out, going back to the dressing room to change their clothes that they knew Zhongli's precious girl—friend Guizhong wouldn't wear. with how much he yaps about her, (Name) already felt like they met the god. so they went ahead and chose a dress for themselves. the anger quelling down but never diminishing.
after the silent quarrel, the days continue to come as normal. yet a seed of doubt began to grow in their mind. was it just nostalgia in Zhongli's eyes when he began reminiscing his time with her? was it truly alright to bear with the fact that he now sees them with the mask of a dead woman?
right now, they mustered up the courage to make excuses. they left Zhongli back in the Harbor as the pain became too much. he smiled more when it was about her. all about the woman he kept insisting was his friend.
(Name) came to a stop in one of the cliffs in Liyue, the tranquil skies being their solace as they sat down. the grass tickling their fingers grounded them to reality.
❛I shouldn't have asked him.. it's all my fault.❜
they knew that Zhongli finally began to notice their weird behaviour. the sudden refusal to go on dates, the outbursts of anger slowly coming undone. still, he couldn't stop talking about Guizhong.
she was lovely alright, (Name) knew that. they respected her even. but when your own lover kept talking about someone else, the one that got away— but hey! she's just a friend and nothing else. how long can (Name) bear it? Zhongli doesn't seem to know it himself, that his thoughts about her were all leading to one thing.
he loves her.
at this point, they didn't know if it was his ignorance or deliberate show. either way, they want to break up with him. they truly do. if Zhongli could have all the patience in the world, they can't.
they weren't immortal.
they could've spend their own feeble eternity with someone else who could make them feel special and wanted. yet his warm smiles, his gracefulness, and eloquent words turns them into a melting mess.
never to be fixed until the cold reality settles in.

Flying Too Close To the Moon (a Baizhu character analysis)
Over a year ago now, in February of 2023, Genshin Impact's twitter account posted about a certain green-haired doctor from Liyue with a snake, announcing that he was at long last going to become playable. *narrator voice* Little did I know at that point just how much my life was going to be ruined changed by this man, something I never could have fathomed in all my time of playing before.
Today, by the time of Baizhu's birthday, almost a year since his release, he has never left my team and is one of my ultimate comfort characters... and at the same time, paradoxically, fills me with such intense feelings of dread, if I ever think just a little too hard about him for a little too long.
This is my experience with him.
Tumblr media
From the beginning, I wasn't one of the people who had been anxiously awaiting for Baizhu's release. I'd always been curious about him, and thought he was beautiful (but lol who in this game isn't?), but there was practically nothing to know, and he appeared so little, so not being an existing fan, I didn't think much about him compared to other more prominent characters. With that first drip marketing, however, I was suddenly instantly intrigued:
"Regrettably, Baizhu cannot save all his patients — himself, for example. Herbalist Gui has mentioned that Baizhu's physical condition is extremely poor, and he often has to go back to his residence to rest after seeing patients. Even so, his smile never falters while in front of people. When Gui asked him about this, he replied, "If the doctor looks sick himself, how can his patients face their illnesses with confidence?" Day after day, Baizhu heals his patients. His ever-present smile hides the numerous bitter medicines he takes and the pain he suffers alone."
What's this, Baizhu is a doctor who is also sick himself? He has a chronic illness?? Finally I have a disabled character in a video game I can play as and relate to??? Not to mention the DELICIOUS angst potential the (absolutely devastating) last sentence held. Unfortunately, because my lazy ass rarely ever talks to npcs outside of quests, I was completely unaware of this very important little fact about Baizhu, learned via Herbalist Gui that had been in the game since literally 1.0, but to say that I was excited upon finally learning it now was an understatement. This changed everything, turning a character I had previously only had a passing interest in into someone I felt like I might be able to connect with, and a character I could truly call my own. Previously, my favorite Genshin character was Zhongli — he was my very first limited 5* and I started the game pretty much because I was interested in him lol — but just from this short summary alone, I had a strong feeling that Baizhu had the potential to surpass him, and become my new favorite.
My initial impressions from everything we knew about Baizhu pre-release (for how little that was) were that he was a kind, selfless doctor who didn't want others to see his weakness, but in secret was striving for immortality in order to save his own life from his severe illness. Qiqi seemed to be someone he observes to further his research in gaining said immortality, but his love and care for her still feels sincere, although he can never properly convey this in words because, to me at least, he's keeping himself at a distance from her and others so as to not hurt them too much if he passed away. Baizhu tearing out Qiqi's journal entry about him being a good person so that she doesn't dwell on and remember such things about him seemed to support this, as well.
Upon release, we also had Dainsleif's lines about Baizhu in his collected miscellany video, which made me emotional as well: Dain, someone who is cursed with and suffers daily from immortality that he never asked for, respects Baizhu's desire for immortality himself, because for him it would be freedom from the pain and suffering he already experiences, seemingly. Most people want immortality for selfish reasons, but for Baizhu, I thought, it's out of a desire to save his very life, and in turn save more people as a doctor in the future. It's human, understandable, and the mark of an incredibly caring and altruistic person, and Baizhu wanting to heal himself is something to be sympathized with, especially if you can relate to his pain.
Tumblr media
This part in particular from his demo was so powerful to me: the defiance of his fate, of his death, and the display of his continued strength of will and resolve, and even skill in battle, no matter how physically weak he may be. Though he still has his doubts and his guilt, here he says "I will not die, I will beat the odds, and no one can decide my fate for me, nor can they shake my resolve."
All of this only made me love him more and more. I was hoping we would get to see his insecurities and fears about his condition and his possible fate, and that he would learn to allow himself to be cared for by those who loved him — to realize at least a little bit more that he will never be a burden on others, because the guilt over such things is all too real for someone with a disability or chronic illness. His non-spoiler voice lines were so comforting and hopeful, and I wanted his story to be hopeful as well, without going as far as to magically cure him like what unfortunately happened with Collei.
That was what I wanted. More or less, that was what I expected, especially with the copious other examples of the "overworked character learns they need to take a break and feel supported by the traveler" storyline in Genshin insert the waifu baizhu (waifzhu?) jokes here.
And then, I played Baizhu's story quest.
Tumblr media
.....No image in the world can fully sum up exactly how I felt after that, but, well, I think Paimon here is the closest I can get.
I still remember it like it was yesterday. I remember standing there, at the bottom of the steps leading up to the pharmacy where the end of the quest left me, not knowing how to feel. Feeling completely numb. Feeling like I'd just gotten punched in the gut a million times over. Feeling sick. Call me overdramatic, too overly attached to fiction, whatever, but no words can possibly convey just how much the revelations about Baizhu in his quest fucked me up. I did not feel good for quite a few days after playing it, as it haunted me, as I turned it over and over again in my mind. Not just the information given itself, but how it was given; the entire tone of it all. At some point I was finally able to make myself cry, and it was only then that I felt at least marginally better. But I'd be lying if I said that I've ever truly and fully processed and let sunk in everything to do with Baizhu, even a year later.... and I doubt that I ever will.
Don't get me wrong: Baizhu's story quest is without a doubt one of the best story quests in the game so far, and that's not at all bias speaking. It's short, to the point, uses npcs effectively and in a way that helps develop the main character instead of taking all the spotlight over them, and it leaves setup for more story in the future. For a Baizhu fan, it's the best quality one could ask for. It's the most we've ever learned about him, the most screentime he's ever had, and it emotionally and tenderly shows exactly what kind of person he is, and why he is the way he is, and does the things he does.
It's also absolutely horrific, and to this day I'm still not entirely certain exactly what message the writers wanted the player to take away from it by the end.
Tumblr media
The quest introduces us to a boy and his father, Ayu and Jialiang, the latter of whom Baizhu wishes to treat, partly as a personal favor to his late master and to said master's other past disciple, the mother of the family, Jiangli. Through Baizhu's handling of their case, and talking to Hu Tao, we learn that Baizhu is not only obsessed with attaining immortality, but that he supposedly uses less-than-reputable methods to heal patients, methods that he keeps tightly under wraps. This, along with all the strange research he does that seemingly has nothing to do with the medical field, has given him a suspicious reputation — the game subtly lampshading the fandom seeing him as nothing more than a sketchy snake doctor ever since the beginning — but no one has ever been able to dig deep enough to find any proof that he has any ulterior motives, not even Yelan; thus, the ultimate consensus is that he truly must be nothing more than a kind and benevolent doctor who has his patients' best interests at heart, no matter what else he's doing in the background. Upon Baizhu treating Jialiang for the first time, however, we’re directly confronted with this secret, dubious healing method he uses, and what exactly it means for Baizhu, as with all the masters that came before him.
Tumblr media
To say my stomach dropped here would be an understatement, because I knew exactly what this meant. And sure enough, not a few minutes later in the quest, we get the dreaded truth:
Baizhu’s poor physical condition is not from natural causes; rather, he is as weak as he is because he’s made himself that way. Changsheng is a former adeptus he made a contract with, that allows the host to transfer some of their own life force from themselves to someone else, using Changsheng as the conduit. The contract is meant to strengthen the body of the host and extend their lifespan, however these advantages effects are outweighed by Baizhu, and all his predecessors before him, repeatedly giving away their life force to heal others, causing them to become frail and inevitably die young. The contract has always been used in this way, and all of its prior users all met the same untimely end; Baizhu is at no less risk of that.... which is why he wants to become immortal, so he can continue to heal people with the forbidden arte without fear of death.
This would already be a Lot as it is. Trading away one's life force to save another isn't exactly a brand new trope, but the idea of a doctor doing it over and over again to save lives when all else fails, even to the detriment of their own body.... It's the ultimate act of selflessness, of kindness, of sacrifice. It's touching. It's laudable. It's devastating, to a degree one can't even imagine.
Because Baizhu doesn't just stop there, as we find out at the end of the quest.
Tumblr media
How do you expect me to read this—
Tumblr media
and additionally this—
Tumblr media
and also this...
...and not have it occupy my mind 24/7, sending me in a downward never-ending spiral of existential horror, for all of eternity?? just like Baizhu himself—
While it's heavily implied that all the contract users prior to Baizhu only ("only") used it one-way, to give their own life force to others, Baizhu has taken it a step further, and also been using Changsheng to transfer his patients' diseases and illnesses onto himself. This likely is a more effective way of "curing" some of them entirely, instead of simply delaying their symptoms' worsening with more life force, although he cannot take on the worst of them/terminal illnesses of course. But he has taken on so, so many, so many diseases and so many symptoms, all compounding and blending together to the point that Jiangli, another doctor just as skilled as Baizhu, cannot even distinguish them all or recognize some of them, that he might as well be terminal. Not only does Baizhu do this for the sake of his patients, but he's also using his body as a human petri dish, testing different diseases and poisons on himself to see how they interact with each other, both to create more effective medicines and understand the mechanisms of the human body better, and to perhaps find the secret to immortality.
This reveal at the end of the quest is presented as an awe-inspiring, poignant twist, that's meant to make you see Baizhu in a brand-new light. The animated cutscene is tear-jerking, bittersweet, yet beautiful, as we finally come to understand the full scope of just who Doctor Baizhu is, just how truly pure and selfless he is, and just how much he has sacrificed, and plans to sacrifice forevermore. Many people who weren't fans of Baizhu or were neutral on him had their minds completely changed upon this bombshell being dropped, it rightfully clearing away any and all misunderstandings about him somehow being a bad person, and fostering newfound respect for him. That's the best word to use for how the game portrays all this: respectable. Baizhu's situation is tragic, but his actions are nevertheless shown and seen as beautiful, and admirable. His self-sacrifice is to be praised, and honored, because he is doing it for the good of so many others, because his heart is just that big, and that caring. It's bittersweet, but Baizhu is determined, and we should respect his resolve.
But should we really?
Tumblr media
Yelan would disagree, I believe. Which is ironic, considering that in her own story quest, Baizhu transfers poison into himself from Uncle Tian with her there, and she is none the wiser.
Just... really stop and think about the implications of what Baizhu is doing to himself, and the life he lives. Try to imagine it, how it would feel, to be inundated with that many diseases and toxins, to the point that all of your internal organs are diseased; to the point that you have every symptom imaginable, sometimes all at once. Now, take that, and imagine living that kind of hell with it progressively worsening, for all of eternity, as Baizhu wants to do.
You can't fathom it. To say that it's beyond human comprehension is an understatement. And yet, that is Baizhu's reality, every single day, and if he has his way, for the rest of time.
Tumblr media
This is not okay.
What truly frightens me about Baizhu, is how.... empty he feels. He is kind, gentle, nurturing, and a bit flamboyant and mischievous at times, but he has essentially no personality traits or life outside of "being a doctor". All of his voicelines involve him giving health advice, or looking after us or others, or discussing the troubles he encounters in the medical field, or his hobbies, which involve... making medicine. While there's nothing wrong per se with a doctor truly enjoying their job — it's what makes Baizhu such a good caretaker, after all — their life and personality never revolves entirely around that. People have their own lives outside of their professions, that don't involve said professions, even the most enthusiastic and genuine of workers. But Baizhu..... doesn't have anything else. For Baizhu, being a doctor is all that he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nothing is more subtly chilling than this joke Changsheng makes (that gets reinforced by Paimon later), where she calls Baizhu her "mannequin" — and especially the way that Baizhu doesn't comment on it at all, merely continuing to look like a guilty child getting scolded for being reckless. Because a mannequin is an eerily accurate description of Baizhu: he is not a person of his own, but merely a vessel for her power. "Baizhu" does not exist outside of his role as a healer; he has no other life, no other aspirations, no other joys and things to care about, nothing. Even though he's a pillar in Liyue Harbor that is beloved by the community, especially by the children, he's also in a sense practically a ghost: he is never seen outside of taking care of people in some way, because he never lets anyone see him at his sickest, and he has no sense of self outside of that role as a doctor. He is distanced from everyone, almost as though he was already immortal.... he could die at any time, frighteningly easily, and to him, no one would notice or care. As depressing as it is, even Qiqi, a literal zombie, is more alive and has a much more fulfilling life at this point than Baizhu does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many of Baizhu's voicelines are dripping with casual self-deprecation, and others with extreme hypocrisy, where he will express frustration and disappointment at others not being diligent in taking care of themselves, completely oblivious to his own extreme levels of self-harm and self-sacrifice. Of course, as mentioned earlier, feelings of inadequacy and being a burden are tragically not unusual for someone with significant health problems, but it goes far, far beyond this for Baizhu, before he was ever ill — all the way back to his childhood. Baizhu's hometown was struck by a plague when he was young, from which he was seemingly one of the only survivors, and his obsession with wanting to save each and every life he comes across that needs saving, no matter the cost to himself, is likely born from the trauma and extreme survivor's guilt that the event instilled in him. It was during this plague that he encountered his former master, and in training under and being influenced by him, he adopted these harmful mentalities (through no fault of his or his master, to be clear), without ever being given any other way to cope with his pain, other than to do everything in his power to never let anyone else die ever again.
Tumblr media
Again, Yanfei sums it up best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The true tragedy of Baizhu is that, although he wholeheartedly agrees with his late master's sentiment, and truly believes that he himself is headed down a different path from his predecessors, at the end of the day, he is no different from them, nor is his chosen path any different from theirs. As he states, those with the most altruistic and purest of hearts are the ones seduced by the contract, and he, too, has fallen victim to Changsheng's siren song: the allure of reaching beyond human means to prevent death. He believes he has found the solution to the conundrum of saving both the world at large and the one doing the saving, but he's merely fallen into the trap just like all the others: even if he doesn't die, he is still sacrificing himself, cursing himself to a fate unimaginably worse than death itself. After all, as he says, the contract can't erase pain from the world entirely, but merely transfer it from one place to another, and Baizhu is living proof of that. If his master could see what he's doing, he most definitely would be heartbroken at the "answer" Baizhu has found, because a life isn't saved if it's merely surviving, and not living.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of this began from Baizhu, selfless and benevolent as he is, wishing to save a snake. Changsheng is a dear friend, a being so closely intertwined with his very soul, and his closest connection to his late master, and yet she is also the very thing that's killing him, and will inevitably be his doom, in whichever way that comes. Baizhu being who he is means he will never abandon her, and Changsheng will never leave him as well, her worry over the fate of her host overwhelmed by her fear of death and her desire to live on, which is how the contract has persisted for six generations. It is a toxic bond, and yet their care for each other is too great, both parties accepting the misery that awaits them. Changsheng knows that any of the cycles could be her last, but cannot help but seek out new ones in order to continue living — and Baizhu intends to make that "last" be a reality, by living forever, to make sure that Changsheng will also never die, but also that no one else can take on the contract after him. He wants his cake and to eat it too, wishing to save anyone and everyone — and he fully believes that he can. He believes that he is headed towards the light of the moon, escaping the flames of the sun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the moon is still ever-so-far away regardless. Perhaps even impossible to reach, if Teyvat's sky truly is fake. No matter where he aims, even if he isn't burned, Baizhu is destined to fall eventually, if he keeps going the way he is. Many people have tried to warn him, to convince him that immortality isn't what he deserves, to convince him of how much he's loved... but Baizhu is too stubborn; too, ironically, selfish in his selflessness. He insists he has everything under control, that he won't let himself die... but how can anyone believe that, when all the signs suggest that he's already on death's door? And even if he does get his wish, and be granted immortality, will he truly be content like he thinks he will, endlessly suffering with only Changsheng by his side?
Tumblr media
I don't think the writers ever intended to glorify Baizhu's actions, or at least, I don't think it occurred to them that it could be read in that way. I do still mean it when I say he is one of the best-written characters in the game, because there is so much care given to him in his story quest and to his lore, even if, frustratingly and tragically, Hoyoverse as a whole doesn't seem to care about him at all. He's so fun to play as, and in isolation, it makes me very happy to have a canonically disabled playable character. But I'm also so, so haunted by him, and I think more people would be as well, if the game didn't gloss over the incredibly bleak reality of Baizhu and his symptoms due to the overall lighthearted tone of Genshin. I desperately need to see where they're going to take his arc, if they intend to at all, because there is so much potential for it, and right now it's very much up in the air. I don't want him to die, as I fear he's close to, but I need him to heal, and finally learn that he's done enough, and that he can finally, finally, stop. Stop torturing himself, and finally accept for himself all the love he's given others for so long now, and live. I want Baizhu to live more than anything, and not the way he is now, nor as a cursed immortal. I want him to live, and thrive, and truly, unapologetically, be himself (whoever that "Baizhu" is), and be happy.
Tumblr media
He already has someone worth living for, right here, aside from Changsheng. He has a daughter, a family, who love him, not to mention an entire city, and and I dearly wish he could realize that. I wish he could know how comforting he is to me and so many others, and how important he is to us, not because of what he can do, but because of his beautiful heart. 💔
Happy Birthday, Baizhu. Thank you for being such an incredible healer on my team, and I hope we'll see you in Chenyu Vale one day :')💚

Genshin men reacting to your new perfume...
Scenario: You bought a new perfume and the boys react to it :)! A modern AU
CW: Cheesiness...
Characters: Tartaglia, Diluc, Heizou, Kazuha, Razor, Xiao
A/N: Guys I wrote this mid writingblock so it might be really shitty... :')

Masterlist

Tartaglia
Whenever you walk past him at school today, he will wrap an arm around you and takes quite a while before he let's go.
"Tartaglia.. I'll be late for my classes.. You got to let go.." You beg as he nuzzles his face in the crook of your neck, his hands only tightening around your waist.
"I can't seem to let you go (Y/n).. What kind of witchcraft is this?" He mutters softly, lips softly pressing kisses on your neck.. You place your hands on his arms, trying to break free.
As your friends giggle and tell you they'll leave the two of you alone to have your 'moment', you turn your head around and shout for them to wait.
"Ajax please.. I really gotta go.." You break free from his grip, pressing a soft kiss on his cheek and run behind your friends.
He simply can't help but sigh, trying to remember the enchanting smell that came from your (hals)
"The hell was up with him..?" One of your friends asks, a blush settles on your face as you look to the side with a short disapproving sniff.
"... I used that new perfume we bought when  we went out shopp-"
Before you can even finish your sentence, they scream and chant the words "WE SAID IT! WE SAID IT!", jumping around you in a circle as if they were sacrificing you.
Stunned you look at them, trying to catch up with their spinning and look directly in each one of their eyes.. But no success. You roll your eyes and sigh.
"Mind entering the classroom now? I won't hesitate to let you get a (telaatbriefje)." You look over your shoulder, seeing the teacher standing in the dooropening with arms crossed. Startled the five of you rush inside.
"Ewh. Why are the two of you so.. Cheesy.." You dryly look to Xiao who was calmly eating his lunch, Tartaglia still marking up your neck..
"Cause I love (Y/n).. My little enchanter(ess).." He brought out, receiving a disapproving and disgusted gaze from Xiao.
"Now now. Let them be. You know Tartaglia can be.. A bit clingy." Zhongli said, not eyeing the two of you and just minding his own business.
"Now.. (Y/n).. Tell me.. What are you using on me today?" He whispers in your ear, you smile and try looking him in the eyes.
"Hmm, nothing special.. Enjoy while it lasts.."
Diluc
It was another late Friday, disco lights shining brightly while you sat at the bar and talked to the red haired man standing behind it.
"What a busy night. Has it ever been so full here..?" You said as you fixed your apron, noticing a stain on your white blouse which made your face cringe.
"I think not. Also, please take your time before you'll walk around again, the nights been hard on you." Diluc brought out as he took your empty glass and placed it in the dishwasher immediately. He grabbed another glass, shooting you a quick glance but you shook your head.
"If you're going to feed me this alcohol-free cocktails any longer.. You'll have more alcohol left over than ingredients. I'll be walking around for 4 hours more eh..?" You replied with a smile in your face, leaning over the bar to give him a quick peck on the lips. He also leaned forward, gladly receiving your form of affection on this terrible night.
When he slowly retreated, his hand sensitively caressed your shoulder as he whispered in your ear:
"Your perfume really surpasses the smell of those alcoholics. It seems like it's almost reaching out for me and telling me to quit my night shift...? Tempting me like that my dearest (Y/n)? What a bold move."
Shivers ran down your spine while he backed off, a smile on his face as another customer took place at the bar.
".. You do own the place, remember. You can't just leave." The two of you shrieked, realizing the customer was indeed.. Venti, who somehow heard everything.
'... You really have to show up now.?" You groan.
"You aren't really inviting to your customers eh.. (Y/n)!"
"Well, (Y/n). Pass me if you need another drink, also, I'm really glad you used the perfume. I thought I'd make the perfect gift. Now, if this bard just shuts up.." With that Diluc shoved a glass of alcohol in front of the guys face, distracting him in less than a second.
Heizou
The fact that you were still studying while he was already working at the police station really stunned some people. But that put aside, you'd always come pay him a visit after your schoolday had been over.
Today though, you only had about 3 hours of college, spending the rest of the day in the shopping mall with your friends. I mean, you couldn't resist the temptation of just passing by the Ici Paris.. You had to enter it.
Besides, the shopping district was literally a minute walk away from your college, so.. Why not spend a day buying clothes and trying new perfume?
Your friends were absolutely howling about you buying perfume, seducing the young detectives at the police station and all those kinda fantasies.. Your mind, on the opposite, was kind of blank as you searched through the assortment of perfume.
"(Y/n).. Didn't you say Heizou would work the late night shift again today?? He'll definitely be alone around that time in his office you know.. Just use some perfume and he'll be wrapped around your finger in almost a second.."
... Ah. The roles would probably be turned around.. But still, it'd be a nice attempt.
So, when you arrived back home, you prepared yourself for whatever would happen tonight..  And also prepared a meal for him, because knowing him.. He probably wouldn't have eaten dinner already
Whenever you stepped inside the station, you'd always feel a little nervous for absolutely no reason.. But you'd feel the same whenever you walked out of a store without any purchases to be honest..
"In his office.." Surprised you looked to the left, seeing the (receptioniste) sitting behind her desk, giving you a wink afterwards. You felt your cheeks heating up but gave a nod.
The walk surely didn't took long, you knocked on his door and opened it slowly.
"Heizou..?" He seemed a bit engulfed by his work at first, but when you closed the door behind you, he looked up startled.
"Glad you came by (y/n).. It's gonna be a long night again." With a stretch the guy leaned back in his chair, waiting for you to come closer. Well, you did.
"Hi. I actually brought something.." You answered, pressing a soft kiss on his cheek.
Out of nowhere his hand slowly snaked around your waist, sighing deeply.
"Oh.. you  didn't only bring yourself, but also food? You know I can't eat two meals hm?" Nearly suffocating in air you tried replying something, but he already pulled you on his lap, softly kissing your neck.
"Oh God, and you smell Hella good..  I'm sure it'll be quite a long night right now. And I'll be enjoying my dinner."
(Yes this man went all in because of the perfume. And yes.. You discreetly admitted to your friends they were right.. )
Kazuha
When the two of you were teenagers, attending high school, you told each other you'd travel the world..
Well, here you were.. 5 years later, currently in some part of Asia.. Up high in a beautiful rented hotelroom, clothed with majestic luxury, and fulfilled all your needs. A cute travel companion named "Mayor Whiskers" who was an adorable cat, was sleeping peacefully in his basket while you looked over the city.
"What a view.." You whispered under your breath, feeling a pair of arms being wrapped around your waist, a head leaning carefully on your shoulder.
'"Are you happy (Y/n)? I for sure am.." Kazuha's gentle voice brought out, nearly making your ears tremble. You smiled as he pressed a kiss on your cheek, but instead of backing off a bit..  His head hung still in one place.
"Is there something wrong, Kazuha?" You asked a little confused, but he kept his silence for a bit..
"Nothing, you smell really nice. A hint of petunias and lavender.." Being a amazed by his extreme keen nose you smiled.
"Oh right, almost forgot to tell. They have a really cute perfume store in the city.. So I bought a new smell recently." You notified, turned around in his arms and wrapped yours around his neck.
"All fine with me.. though, I'm glad you keep on choosing something nature like. Did you know it really reminds me of the time we were always out in the forest after school.." With that he kisses your cheek and let's go, walking back to God knows where.
"Anyways, (Y/n).. I really really adore this smell.. Mind using a little tonight..?"
You almost suffocated in air while Kazuha walked off with a casual stride, you always knew when he mentioned something with "tonight".. The evening would get a little spicy. This perfume would do wonders..
Razor
A man of a few words.. Even if he was alone with you.
But now that there were all these friends hanging around you, he'd back off silently and sit in a corner.. All by himself.
"What! (Y/n)!? Haha!"
Hearing all these people laugh and being loud always made him back off, your eyes were continuously searching for the guy.. But you couldn't see him because of all the people surrounding you at the lunch table.
All kinds of guys approached you, complimenting your clothes and how godlike you smelled.. Ugh, you shouldn't have tried that new perfume.. Now they were just annoying flies searching for opportunities to land and feed themselves.
Getting a bit annoyed you stood up, ignoring everyone and reached out for your phone.. But some guy had snatched it from its spot on the table, holding it above your head.
"Give that back.." You mumbled, he smiled and lowered his face to match your height.
"A kiss, and I'll return your phone.." Disgusted you squinted, tempted to throw your plate of food in his face.. Till you saw a hand grabbing the guys arm.
"Return.. It.." Before the guy could even give it to you normally, if fell out of his hands because Razor was squeezing his arm so incredibly hard.
"... You know (Y/n) has the cutest boyfriend ever right?! Why even try!" One of your friends shouted from across the table. You growled at them while Razor let go of the guy, clearly unamused by them all.
With that you grabbed your bag, working your way out of the crowd with Razor's hand in yours and once you were out, you quickly gave him a peck on the lips.
"Sorry." He mumbled, your smile beamed right through the frown on his face.. His eyes sparkled shortly and he softly returned a sorta smile..
"Ah, I should've known it'd get so busy, don't worry.. " You said, wrapping your arms around him and smiled.
He tightly hugged you, nestling his face in your neck.. But to his surprise, your smell kind of stung his nose and made his nose scrunch a bit.
"(Y/n).. What's this smell.." He whispered in your ear, you blinked a few times as you let go.. But instead, he pulled you even closer.. His breath tickling your neck.
"Eh! Perfume? Is it too much..?" You asked worried, carefully wrapping your arms around his waist again..  I mean, where were you supposed to leave them..?
"No. It's fine. I like it. Though, my nose itches." He mumbled, you laughed as you shrugged your shoulders.
He would probably stand there for just a few more minutes to bath in your smell till you say it's almost time for your next period.
When he returned to Bennett and Fischl, Fischl immediately asks if Razor used any kind of perfume.. Since he really smelled like dandelions, grapes and cherries.
"No?" He dryly replied, Fischl pursed her lips while she placed her index finger against her chin.
"My! What a magnificent smell, though it surely radiates from you Razor. Are you saying, with no doubt or secretive intent, that you didn't touch a bottle of perfume.."
Razor squinted, Bennett already standing between the two.
"Eh..! Fischl, don't you think he simply passed (Y/n)..? I don't think Razor would ever think of showering himself with perfume.." He brought out, Razor kept his silence.. Till Fischl hummed.
"(Y/n)'s. They smelled really good." He mumbled, looking at the windows and sighed.
Xiao
"Ah! Xiao!"
You waved at him, running to him with your arms slightly crossed
"You look weird running like that." He curtly brought out, you gasped as you stood right in front of him..
"Well.. If you are going to be that nice to me..? I forgot my shirt.." You snarl at him, letting out a short huff.
"You're wearing a shirt right now. What're you talking about."
Even though he didn't sounded sarcastic or mocking, you found some offense to his comment. You pointed at him, other hand placed on your hip.
"Well..! Just gimme your hoodie. I forgot my PE shirt. No way I'll walk around in the same one I used for it.." Xiao raised his eyebrows, shaking his head and sighed deeply.
"Its in my locker. Be sure to place everything you take out to reach for it is placed in the exact same spot.." He threw his key to you, with a smile you quickly gave him a peck on his cheek which left him as red as a tomato and absolutely speechless.
"Thank you!"
When the PE lesson was over and you put back on the hoodie you lent from Xiao, one of your friends smirked.
"Ehh.. isn't Xiao really really short? I'm questioning how the hell you fit into that! Or are you as small.." Unconsiously of what you were doing at that moment, you snap back at them..
"Me..? Short..-" *spray* ".. Look, I know that but.." *spray* "Don't get Xiao involved.." *spray* "Okay?" And another spray right on your wrists.
"Eh.. Are you sure that he'll appreciate that smell of perfume in his hoodie?" Your friend then asked, you raise your eyebrows.. Realizing what you've been doing.
".. Oops."
After wearing it for the entire day, you returned the hoodie to him the next morning..
"Thank you. It was so comfy.. heh." He would squint at you, taking it from your hands while another blush striked his face.
"Yeah.. Yeah.."
You ruffled his hair and left the classroom, he carefully hid his face in the sweater.. Realizing you had been spraying perfume, yet it still smelled like you.
Whenever he had the time that day, he had changed into the hoodie.. Hiding his face in it while he paid attention to his classes.
He enjoyed being surrounded by your smell so much.. Also, he really loved the new perfume you used..  Though, you wouldn't ever hear it coming from him..

Xiaoqing Analysis - Why Xiaoqing
It’s a little insane that I’ve taken this long to make a general post about why I ship Xiaoqing since that’s basically the entire reason for this account. I think there is so much unexplored potential between the two of them, and I’m inhaling massive copium that this is the reason why Hoyoverse has kept their interactions minimal up until now and are just waiting to give us some type of event that explores the two of them in the future.
I want to cover as many reasons why I enjoy this ship so much as possible so forgive me if this post ends up being all over the place. To start, we have to begin with the first crumbs of Xiaoqing content from the beginning of the game until now.
The first instance of anything linking the two together was the Liyue Archon Quest where the Qixing and Adepti team up to battle and defeat Osial. Both Xiao and Keqing are present in this Event, but they never speak directly do each other.
However, it is not until after you complete this quest that you are able to unlock Keqing’s voiceline about Xiao. This voiceline is pretty huge for shippers. In it, Keqing states that she believes it’s time for Xiao to be released from duty. It might not seem like much on its own, but it is interesting to note since very few characters are actively vocal about believing Xiao should be freed from his duties as Yaksha. It’s otherwise really only Zhongli who remarks about Xiao’s contract at all.
But this line being unlocked specifically after the Quest makes it more interesting. Was it after seeing what Xiao goes through as Yaksha that made her suddenly open up in such a way? This is also where her understanding of the Adepti also begins to be more favorable than it previously had been. It’s pretty notable that this voiceline is only unlocked after her views on the gods start to shift and after personally being around Xiao. Regardless, it’s a huge point in their favor that she’s at least thinking about him and his wellbeing given how much he suffers as the last Guardian Yaksha.
Over the course of certain Quests, like Moonchase, small hints towards her views towards humanity and the Adepti are shown. It’s very interesting that Keqing continuously shows more and more interest in learning about the divine due to her grandfather’s research and the fact that she wants to finish it for him. It’s that strong connection that she continues to have to the Adepti that continues to indirectly link her to Xiao and why I really hope Hoyoverse explores the two of them directly in the future.
The biggest moment for Xiaoqing as a ship is obviously their first on-screen conversation with each other during the second Lantern Rite Quest. And for such a short conversation, so much happens in it.
Firstly, Keqing happily introduces herself to Xiao and he responds saying that he remembers her from the battle with Osial and that she is fierce with her blade. Several huge things here. For one, Keqing previously mentioned that she was worried the Adepti wouldn’t remember her from the battle, which would obviously include Xiao. Not only does he remember her, but he also admits that he was watching her during that battle. Given how intense that battle was, it’s very interesting that he not only watched her at all, but he watched her for long enough to judge her skills with the sword.
Xiao does not give out compliments very easily, so it’s already high praise coming from him. It’s arguably even bigger praise considering the fact that he’s a 2000-year-old warrior and is specifically complimenting her prowess in battle. It is no small compliment for the Conqueror of Demons to say that you’re fierce in combat.
Later, he makes a remark that I firmly believe is about Keqing, warning her not to approach him so casually (as he does to everyone) saying “even if you have a higher constitution than most (voice)/even if you have a constitution that surpasses that of ordinary mortals (text).”  It could appear that he is talking about the Traveler here (since Keqing has not spoken since her introduction), but I don’t think it makes sense for that to be the case since the Travelers are not humans and they are already aware that Xiao considers his karma to be harmful. It would be a bit strange to tell them something they already know.
Whereas this is his first time meeting Keqing, it makes more sense that he’d be warning her of his karma here than the Travelers. Alternatively, he could just be talking about all of them. Regardless, I think Keqing is included in his warning here.
Needless to say, this is another compliment to Keqing’s strength, saying that she has a higher constitution that most humans do. But he still warns her not to get too close to him for the sake of her wellbeing. It’s just very interesting that Xiao rolls out compliment after compliment to her despite it not being something he does all that often or freely. And his compliments are continuously about the fact that she’s strong.
Overall, even though they really only spoke a single sentence to each other, this scene showed us that Keqing clearly stands out to Xiao amongst other mortals. Xiao has clearly been impressed by her skills and considers her to be stronger, both physically and mentally, than most mortals are.
On that note, I wanted to bring up the fact that it’s mentioned in Keqing’s description that the gods “admire skeptics like her quite a lot”. It’s just interesting that Xiao seems to also check this box in that he’s not only been shown to watch her in combat, but to also think very highly of her based on what he’s seen. I think he’s curious about her if nothing else.
There’s unfortunately not all that much else left to work with from a pure canon standpoint, so I did want to move into some fanon aspects that many shippers agree cite as reasons for liking this pairing.
Their Similarities
Xiao and Keqing are actually very alike when you really look at their characters. Both of them are prideful and don’t like to accept help from others or be told they need to rest. They don’t take care of themselves as well as they should and often rely on others to keep them in check with making sure they don’t overdo it. It’s arguably a notable aspect of both Lantern Rite quests, with the first being about Xiao and the second being about Keqing.
Because they’re so stubborn, I think that’s one of the more fun parts of their dynamic to explore. They’re usually able to have the last word with anyone else, but they can’t with each other. Keqing isn’t the type to let Xiao push her away and would be adamant about trying to prove that she isn’t afraid of him or his karma. While Xiao would make Keqing realize that she doesn’t always have all the answers on her own and needs to be able to let others with more years of experience have input when needed. It’s how they start breaking through each other’s outer shells.
Secondly, neither of them makes friends all that easily. Keqing is seen as hard to approach because of being outspokenly controversial, and Xiao because of his refusal to interact with humans for their own safety. This is something I personally think is a big reason why they can easily relate to each other. They don’t have anyone they can really call a close friend since it’s hard for them to open up easily. Those are barriers that can be broken with each other.
Their Images
Both Xiao and Keqing put forth a very intimidating image of themselves to the rest of Liyue. So, it’s really fun to think about the fact that they would likely do a complete 180 when they’re out of the public eye and be overly soft and cutesy with each other about their feelings. We’ve seen Xiao as a romantic type in his birthday letters, and I’m certain that is exactly how he would behave with Keqing. While Keqing is very confident about herself in situations regarding her work, but can be unsure of how to respond in scenarios with friends or people she is growing close to. So, it’s another fun dynamic for them to have as a couple that not a single soul in Liyue would ever believe is real even if they saw it.
Their Dedication to Liyue
This is one of the reasons I can truly only see myself shipping them with each other. I think Keiqng’s love for Liyue is such a central part of her character that I can’t see her loving someone who doesn’t love Liyue as much as she does. With Xiao having served Liyue for thousands of years and continuing to serve it, even at the cost of his own freedom, not to mention the fact that it causes him constant physical agony, I think it’s simply a given that this would be one of the biggest reasons she would have love for him.
They Align Perfectly with Each Other’s Interests
We already mentioned that Keqing is shown to have a growing interest in the divine, while Xiao is stated to have a curiosity about the mortal world. I can see them as that couple that could listen to the other talk for hours about things that the speaker would probably find mundane and boring, while the listener could never get enough of what the other has to say.
Mortal X Immortal Angst
Xiaoqing is naturally a very angsty ship due to the fact that Keqing is obviously going to die before Xiao does and it makes their relationship always have a special kind of appeal. That they only have a limited amount of time together, which is interesting to think about given Keqing’s dislike of procrastination. The fact that she wants to make the most of their time together is a big part of their dynamic and it can often be a point of contention when it feels like Xiao is afraid to acknowledge that reality. Having to battle with Xiao’s introversion and fear of being around other people while Keqing truly just wants to show him the world with what little time they have together is something that tugs at the heartstrings, IMO.
They’re Both Heavily Associated with Lantern Rite
There have been several connections between Xiao, Keqing, and the Lantern Rite festival. The first Lantern Rite was centered around Xiao, while running Banners featuring both Xiao and Keqing back-to-back. The second Lantern Rite saw the release of Keqing’s skin, a story centered largely around her, and, of course, them finally meeting each other formally. It’s just interesting to note that the two are consistently linked to Lantern Rite every year.
Overall
As of now, that’s generally what we have for Xiaoqing as far as what can be drawn from canon material. I’ve spent most of this account talking about personal headcanons, but I never really sat down and explained why I like these two from a largely canon perspective. So I hope this can serve as a general, go-to, “why do you ship them” for me (or other shippers) in the future because I can already see myself getting asked this a lot in the next coming months.
Hopes for the Future
As for what I’d like to see next from them: honestly, any quest where they are able to talk about the role of the Adepti in modern Liyue society. What Keqing thinks his future holds for him if he is ever freed from his contract, and her actively encouraging him to seek out a happier future for himself. Allowing Xiao to see himself as someone who is allowed to think about being happy for himself and not always serving others.
Something that even lightly grazes that would be incredible. But if I have to lower my expectations: I want to see them training together. He’s already complimented her in battle. The obvious next step is for her to ask him to train her so he could be more impressed and fall more in love, we love that for them.

With an Adeptus!Reader...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Warning for spoilers of their backstories and Liyue's archon quest!
Characters: Zhongli, Xiao, Venti
Tumblr media
Considering the hardships you went through before becoming an adeptus, Zhongli didn’t want to tie you to him with a contract; Liyue wasn’t in need of new warriors, and he was no longer leading the nation as Morax. Immortality erodes the spirit and memory, and with time comes a loneliness that can be hard to bear - thus Zhongli approached you with concern when he found out about your change.
What he hadn’t expected was for you to greet him with a smile and lighthearted conversation (it’s something he infinitely admires you for, really). Zhongli answers your questions pertaining his experience as an adeptus patiently, observing your reactions and body language to try and gauge if you're alright.
...You were a bit nervous about this transition though, and so Zhongli gives you a soft smile and places a reassuring hand on yours. Whenever you need him, don’t hesitate to reach out. He'd be more than willing to support you and listen when you have something to get off your chest. As both an experienced adeptus and friend, he’d like to be someone you can rely on.
The talk ends with you finally dropping your strong front and laying in his arms (it’s not as if he couldn’t see right through you anyways, though Zhongli knew better than to poke at it while you were coming to terms with becoming an adeptus.)
You still joked around even even as he was running his fingers through your hair (a calming motion), so at least that told him that you were fine. Zhongli can't help but chuckle when you point out that you match with him a little now, with your extra appendages/markings on your skin.
“You’d already brought light into my life when you were mortal.” Zhongli would remind you. “I will never lose sight of how our story began, nor take the rest of the time we have for granted.”
You’d laugh fondly, regarding him with a gentle gaze. “I thought you wanted to end this on a light note?”
“What could be lighter than the happiness you give me?”
Oh? “In that case, I’d have to thank you as well for painting my days in gold. Not just as Morax, but Zhongli as well.”
Tumblr media
You’ve fought by Xiao’s side so many times that he could trace your movements as if they were his own. You weren’t from his generation of yakshas, but your purpose and combat prowess was something that he could comfortably rely on. He was proud to be able to say that you were comrades (and friends, and maybe a little bit more - Xiao was always cute when you teased him about that)
Like Madam Ping, you’ve opted to live amongst mortals to understand how to better support them in other ways. It’s quite a curious life you live, playing as a citizen by day and leaving for ‘work’ whenever needed, departing with a mysterious smile when asked about it.
Neither side of you was more ‘real’ than the other; as a citizen it was relaxing to indulge in mortal pastimes and learn to cook (regardless if you were very good at it), while traversing the land you love as an adeptus felt freeing, and battles always did give you a sense of purpose as it was something you’ve done for so long.
Though it’s always more fun when you can share the weight of a fight with Xiao - it’s nice how neither of you have to hold back in fear of hurting each other, and you share a familiar understanding that surpasses friendship, carefully built over time together.
Since he's so used to your presence, it sometimes surprises other people how casually he interacts with you (or even knows your habits/quirks), but you enjoy that little privilege that comes with your relationship. After all, once you've bonded on the battlefield for centuries, it's hard to call the other an acquaintance, right? It's not like it isn't mutual either~
“Hey, don’t forget that you can call my name too.” You nudged Xiao. “I’d never be late to a friend in need.”
He eyed the almond tofu that you’d abandoned for the sake of talking. “And have to argue about food with you after every patrol?”
“I said I’d cook!” You huffed. “You’re just stubborn. Eat more almond tofu and your muscles will become as soft as one.”
Xiao swiped your bowl from you, earning a yelp of protest. He wore the slightest of smirks as he finished it. “You said you wanted ‘real’ food. We can order more from downstairs.”
Tumblr media
The first time he met you, Venti was only vaguely aware of you being an adeptus. He was visiting Liyue to have a drink with Morax but got a little lost (or so he said). He learn later that you were indeed in allegiance with the Geo Archon, though your contract was looser than the others as it was to look after Liyue’s people in general (the methods would be however you saw fit, and evolved as they did.)
“What a shame… You really signed your free time off to serve that blockhead, huh?” While you knew he was joking, you’d always wondered what he meant when he said it was a shame… You sometimes ponder this as you’re reminded of him, be it through the greeting of a breeze or singing of the birds.
Sometimes you’d visit Mondstadt during a mission, after which you would be invited by a certain bard to stay a bit longer, be it for some food or to catch the sight of the sunset from a different nation (Venti was always good at finding reasons to spend time together)
After Morax stepped down, Venti came to Liyue to check on you - he was aware of how the adepti respected and cherished his old friend, and offered his company as comfort. He’d sing, play the lyre or flute, or whatever that made you feel better. While he may joke about it, he really does admire your dedication to Liyue.
You laughed as a familiar pair of arms wrapped around your shoulders from behind. Venti’s greeting was cheerful as ever as your name rolled off his tongue. No matter how many times this has happened, it never stopped your heart from skipping.
“Aren’t you ever worried we’d fall over when you jump on me like that?” You turned to look at him.
“Well, I know my brave warrior is strong enough to catch me!” Venti winked. “And if not, the wind will save us!”
Always a charmer, huh? You’re reminded of a past conversation as he took your hand and started leading you away, telling you something about the Windblume preparations for this year.
‘Sometimes I wish we could stay like this forever.’
‘In that case, might we form a little contract for ourselves? I’ll promise you my forever if you do the same.'

HS Teacher!Venti headcanons because I can, and because I just thought of this now.
-He teaches English and Poetry, obviously.
-He’s a frequent visitor in the band/choir area, and knows the teachers well. Some of the students like to joke that he’s another member of the music department.
-Venti, despite being one of the oldest teachers, surpassed by only Zhongli (The entire staff is young, okay.), looks extremely young, to the point that he gets mistaken as a student sometimes.
-It’s become a running joke that Venti will sometimes crash the band or choir whenever they have a sub, and see how long it takes for them to notice. It’s usually not very long, but the students never point it out, mosty because the subs reaction is always funny.
-Sometimes he’ll even just take over teaching, much to the chagrin of the rest of the faculty, and the sub in particular. Eventually, the music teachers had to put in warnings for potential subs.
-He’s extremely wise, despite his age (only in his early 30s) and appearance. He loves being able to help his students, and they find his input to actually be quite helpful.
-Aside from advice, students are fond of eating in his classroom and just talking with him, as Venti is a very good conversationalist.
-He helped Diluc and Kaeya, two of his students, work through some of their personal issues when they were in their junior year. He hated seeing them be so distant when they’d once been so close. It wasn’t an instant fix, but they were both in the same section of his AP Prose and Poetry class the next year, and he was glad to see them almost back to normal.
-He’s part of a well known online streaming group called the Archons, a group of teachers who play games and discuss various academic topics, among other things. But don’t get it twisted, they are still extremely chaotic.
-When his students found out, they were surprised but excited.
-His room is right next to Zhongli, the history teacher.
-Once his students realized he liked apples, he was a frequent reciever of apples and other apple flavored treats.
-He’s not as much of an alcholoic in this AU, but he’s still a regular at the local bar, and he gets I.D’ed every time, without fail. His licences is completely legitimate, but unless the bouncer recognizes him, there’s the chance they’ll still try to refuse to let him in.
-He has a Lizard in his room named Dvalin. Some student a while ago nicknamed him Stormterror as a joke, and now that’s the lizards second name. Venti...strongly dislikes it, but doesn’t have the heart to really stop anyone from calling him that.
-He keeps a functional but relatively cheap lyre in his room, and he likes to do lessons using it sometimes.
-He’s totally willing to teach you how you play it, you just need to ask.
-He doesn’t assign homework very often, since he believes students should be free to choose what to do with their time outside of class. Alas, he does still need to assign such things as work and tests, but he tries to be as lenient as possible.
-Well, that is, outside of his upper level writing classes. He might be a easy grader in his lower level electives, but he expects his students to put forth their best effort, and he can tell when you aren’t and will score accordingly.
-He and Zhongli will frequently drop by while the other is teaching. Mostly Venti stopping by Zhongli’s room to annoy him.
-He likes having the windows open in nicer weather, and to have good air circulation.
-He’s generally pretty easy going and relaxed, but god forbid anyone threaten his students. He’d die for them, no questions asked.
-Once, Mondstadt High went into lockdown because of an intruding group known as the Fatui. The security managed to apprehend them, but only because Venti and Lumine, a student he’d been walking with, stalled them. They were injured, but no one else was hurt thanks to them.
-Lumine would never forget the way her teacher had protected her at that time.
-Overall, he’s ususally one of the students favorite teachers.

The Dragon’s Requiem (A Zhongli x Reader x Childe oneshot)
Summary:  Zhongli reflects on his past with the reader as he watches her move on with someone new.
angst with fluff and maybe a lil nsfw?
Pairing:   (past) Zhongli x Reader. Childe x Reader
a/n  NOT THE GENSHIN HCs GETTING 600 NOTES WHAT THE HECK THANKS EVERYONE! That was such a great present to wake up to (who needs a S/O? smh I have my 200+ tumblr followers).
I tried writing the reader as gender neutral, but since I’m a female it might not have come across as that, so I’m sorry ahead of time. Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys, leave some requests and feedback (it means so much to me)!
Sincerely Coffee
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your fingers tangled gently into his dark locks, tugging him closer to you. You smile softly at him as he delicately places light kisses across your face and jawline, slowly inching towards your neck. You bask in his warmth and glowing attention as you arch your back to get even closer to him. In times like this, he couldn’t help but admire everything about you. From how happy you look, to the way you slept so peacefully just moments ago, or the way that you would look in a few minutes with your face flushed and begging for him.
Zhongli has always been a man who lived in and cherished the past. He could spend hours talking about Liyue’s history or explain the customs and cultures of a time long before. It would bother some people, but never you. He admired you so much. Your patience for him, the openness of your heart to allow him to come into your life, and the unique beauty you had that surpassed anyone else in his eyes.
He never really cared for humans. Yes, he knew he had a responsibility to them, but he never truly loved them. At least, he never loved any mortal the way that he loves you. He has been alive for thousands of years, but he had never felt this attached to someone, especially not a seemingly simple mortal. It was his strange attachment that made losing you all the more difficult.
His greatest insecurity had always been his lifespan. If he could give everything up to spend his life with you, then he would have. He knows he has responsibilities as a protector of the nation of Liyue, but the promise of your sweet embrace and a meaningful future with you was too good to pass upon. With you, he wasn’t stuck in the past, but looked towards the future.
“Childe! You’re such a tease,” your soothing voice sharply breaks him out of his reveries of the past.
“Well it’s not my fault that you’re too stunning to contain myself around,” the harbinger known as Tartaglia shot back playfully and moved to grab for your hand. You take quick notice of his actions and allow him to wrap his fingers around yours.
“Can we have dinner there!” you point excitedly at the Liuli Pavilion.
“Anything for you, love” he grins and pulls you two towards the restaurant.
The crowds parted at the sight of the young Fatui and his darling Y/N. He was accustomed to showing them off to everyone, proud of being able to pull someone as stunning and kind as them. Zhongli looks down, feeling sick, was that the feeling of seeing his dear Y/N with that man. He didn’t really move on. He stayed in Liyue’s harbors, sometimes you even caught glimpses of the God who stole and broke your heart in a different time.
“I love you,” Childe grins after pulling away from you. Allowing you to catch your breath following the heated kiss, before you respond,
“I love you more,” smiling back at your boyfriend before leaning in to steal another kiss. You move your arms to the back of his head, digging your fingers into his hair as he passionately returns your kiss. His own hand traveling low and playfully squeezing your ass. It was a simple show of affection between a young couple in love. A couple that most everyone was familiar with and adored. Of course the two of you thought you were in a secluded area, but there are people who have known this land and it’s hiding spots for years.
It was a shame, he thinks, as he watches you and the auburn haired man enjoy your day out together. Together. The word really hits him right then and there. You had moved on past your days with the archon.
He knows it’s selfish to continue to long for you. He left and hurt you so unfairly. You were someone precious to him, and he broke you without a care in the world.
“Zhongli, are you ok?” you asked meekly as you walked into your shared home. He’s agitated, pacing and scrunching his eyebrows. The normally calm composured man looked flustered and sad in a way.
“I want to take a break” he pronounced unexpressively. With blank amber eyes he tore your heart out. No, I don’t want this. I want to be with you forever. I don’t want to hurt you, he chides himself internally
Your silent tears hurt him more than any wound he’s received in battle. This is for you though. You don’t deserve this pain, but what you feel now is infinitely better than the suffering he would inflict on you in the future.
He stops himself from reaching out to you. That would only serve to give you false comfort. He leaves without another word, heart shattering more and more as you finally let out your sobs behind the door. This will be better for you, he justifies to himself, I could never give you what you wanted.
It was you who changed him. It was you who showed him how to really and truly love someone for the first time in his thousands of years of life. It was you who made him want to be better and grow.
“Why do you love me,” you asked suddenly, breaking the calm silence between you two.
“What kind of question is that?” he had questioned in return, slightly tilting his head to face you, truly puzzled as to why you were asking something like that.
“Well I’m not particularly special. My fighting skills are average. I’m not as attractive as others around here. I guess I’m just wondering why a God like you is interested in someone as average as me. I’m sorry this is probably annoying you” you mutter and turn away from him slightly to hide your face.
“You’re not average. You’re stunning, brave, true, and compassionate. You are so much more than even that. There has never been any other mortal that has ever captured my attention like you have. I only have my eyes for you so don’t apologize,” he answers honestly, gazing into your eyes, which were now welling with tears.
“I love you,” you whisper and let him wrap his arms around your body, pulling you close to him and offering a comforting touch.
“I love you more than you could ever imagine,” he mumbled into your hair and placed a light kiss on your forehead.
Something inside of Zhongli curls up and dies when he hears your illuminating laughter and head thrown back, as your E/C eyes gleam in the sun’s light. That should be him making you laugh. Him causing your happiness. Him kneeling on one knee. Him devoting his life to you.
“Yes!” you exclaim in shock at seeing the man you’ve spent the last two years with get down on  one knee in front of you.
“I haven’t even asked anything yet,” he teases as he slides a silver band onto your finger, “but I’m glad you said yes.” you smile back at him and place soft kisses all across his face.
“Come on, let’s eat some golden shrimp on the roof over there!” he declares as he places another kiss on your cheek right before he takes off towards the roof of a building on the harbor.
This would be the final time Zhongli swears to himself again as he takes another glance at your grinning form. He knows it’s a useless promise because he knows that he’ll be back soon.
He thinks it’s ironic that it took leaving you to realize how much he can’t live without you.
As he turns away from the scene of the grinning couple, his heart crumbles, but it’s the thought that you would finally be happy, keeping him from breaking forever. Yes, he would be at your side for the rest of his days, it may not be in the way that he wanted, but he holds you too dear to leave for good.
“Goodbye for now my darling Y/N” the archon murmurs. He hopes you hear his requiem for what the two of you had. For what he would still protect and cherish, even as he watches it get replaced by someone you deserved more.
You hear a familiar voice faintly echo as you cling further into your now asleep fiance's arms and rest your head on his shoulder. As you feel a shadow of a kiss on your forehead you can’t help but think back to those precious times with your geo archon, “Until we meet again Zhongli. Perhaps in a different life I’ll be enough for you,” you whisper into the night.
The dragon lets out his final song, all the while your own resolve crumbles away, longing for the man you once called home, but accepting this wonderful future with a man you love.
a/n  Feel free to drop a like or comment, it boosts my fragile ego. In a bit of pain if you couldn’t tell. I’ve also gotten too addicted to this game and it’s sekcee characters, please send help 🤧

excerpt from a zhongli/reader AU
had this idea for a while where retired rex lapis gets transported into another (more normal) world and struggles to learn what it means to be mortal through the unfortunate soul whose house he accidentally infiltrates. thought i’d post an excerpt because i miss posting my writing
Your heart jumps out of your chest when you see him.
He’s clearly tall, his feet surpassing the wooden border at the end of the bed, and he’s lying on his back with his hands flat on his stomach like a corpse inside its coffin. He has long dark hair tied in a thin ponytail that snakes around his head on the empty mattress, and he’s wearing...something that you certainly haven’t seen before. It looks straight out of a period drama from a country of unknown origin: a long brown coat with intricate designs, diamonds instead of buttons, and the biggest cuffs known to man; black shoes that you’ve definitely only enountered at weddings; a single silver ring on his thumb and dangling earrings; and—you warily look closer—what looks like reddish eyeliner.
It’s strange, but you find yourself swallowing, a warmth spreading across your chilled body. He might be the most handsome man you’ve seen in your entire life, and you don’t even know what his eyes look like yet.
But he’s also intruding on your premises.
Soaked and submerged in a confusing mix of temperatures, you’re unsure of what to do. You can go back downstairs and call the security guards, tell them there’s a stranger sleeping in your unit, but you don’t like the thought of leaving him here only for him to wake up and disappear when you’ve finally brought back-up with you. But you don’t know the lobby’s phone number, or any emergency hotlines. You don’t think you have any rope either, or anything that might restrain him until you get back. The best you have is some scotch tape in your bag for use at school, and even then, you’re going to have to get dangerously close to him to even have a hope of taping him to the bed hard enough so that he won’t get up.
If he can get up, you realize. For all you know, he might be dead.
You don’t know what you’d prefer.
With another hard swallow, you make a grab for the large umbrella leaning against the wall next to your door. Forgetting it at home made it useless to you under the harsh pour of rain but it can be of use to you now, in case this intruder isn’t dead and tries to kill you instead. Slowly, as quietly as you can, you approach the sleeping man with your umbrella in your unyielding grasp and search him for any signs of life or death. It doesn’t seem as though he’s excreted his fluids all over your landlord’s provided mattress and he certainly doesn’t smell foul (he does, however, smell like death, like the flowers offered to the deceased during their final moments), but the shadow the top bunk casts over him makes it hard to see if his chest is rising and falling in time with his breaths. Biting your lip, you force yourself to bring a hand above his mouth, just shy of his nose.
Instantly, you feel warm air touch the skin of your palm. The sensation makes you yank your hand away, but you’re at least glad that you don’t have a cadaver and potential crime scene on your hands.
Which is wrong, you realize, because the crime may have yet to take place. He can still wake up and rob you for all you’re worth, or murder you and jump out the window, or worse. You’re seriously starting to consider that scotch tape now, but you’re afraid that if you unzip your bag here, the noise will startle him awake.
You don’t have the luxury of trying, however, because the moment that you even consider his rousing, his eyelids twitch and slowly flutter open, revealing drowsy golden eyes that shine in the dim light.
In your panic, you suck in a sharp gasp and aim your umbrella at his throat, the tip hitting him square in the Adam’s apple.
He makes a choked noise and his hands fly to the umbrella, but it’s more instinctive than anything, you figure, because he doesn’t try to pry it off himself and instead, looks to you with wide eyes.
You try not to tremble lest he see you as an easy target. “I—I don’t know who you are,” you say, and wow, you’ve never failed so hard in your life, “or how you got in here, but you—you are not going to move a single muscle until I get the cops up here.”
That’s a lie. You don’t know how to contact any cops. The only number you memorize is your parents’ and the one for child services, who obviously can’t help you right now. You can call someone else to call the cops for you, of course, but that’ll take forever and is infinitely embarrassing, especially if this intruder manages to overhear you asking your friends for favors in his presence.
Distressed, you press your weapon harder against his neck.
It makes him gasp and wince, but still, he doesn’t move. He blinks his surroundings in, frowning up at the bed hovering above him and everything he can feast his eyes on without needing to adjust his head, until his gaze falls on you, and your own eyes, and the fear that sits within them.
“I’m sorry,” he says, with an incredibly deep voice, straining due to the weight you’re pushing against his throat, “but who are you? And who are the cops?”
“You don’t get to ask me who I am!” you protest. “You barged in here and slept on my—” extra “—bed, so you’re obviously a criminal! And what do you mean who are the cops? I mean the cops! Police! They’ll take you away for breaking into my house.”
“I—” For some reason, he has the gall to look confused. “I broke into your house?”
“Where do you think you are, buster? On private property, that’s where!”
“I’m sorry,” he says, looking up at you in a way that makes you feel like he is, truly, sorry. But you don’t believe it for a second. “I don’t know how I—it wasn’t my intention. And I am not this buster of which you speak. My name is Zhongli.”
---
short excerpt but. we’ll see if i have the courage/inclination to post the full thing on ao3 ^^ i seriously miss writing and posting i’m excited to be a part of the genshin fic writing community!

Xinyan Build Guide
Tumblr media
Xinyan is probably the most neglected character in the game right now. I’ll refrain from making fun of her Sandy Cheeks ass English VA but I think this mostly stems from her kit being kinda awkward. Her pyro application isn’t the greatest and as far as shields go Noelle and Diona are simply better 4⭐️ options. But Xinyan is still worthy of love and if you’re looking to build her hopefully this will help!
Role
Xinyan can fill many roles in a team comp. She can be main (physical) DPS, Sub DPS, or just a support. The issue is that regardless what role you put her in you most likely have another character that does it better. She’s also one of those characters that really relies on her constellations to be viable. In my opinion, she works best as a Sub DPS and shielder and if you do have her at c2+ she is pretty good at that role.
Talents
Prioritize Xinyan’s Burst unless building her as physical DPS. In that case prioritize her Normal Attacks first
Xinyan’s talents ascend with Books of Gold, Treasure Hoarder Insignias, and at higher levels Tusk of Monoceros Caeli.
I don’t recommend taking her past Lv70 unless you’re using her as a physical DPS.
Weapons
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Skyward Pride; The Unforged; Wolf’s Gravestone; Song of Broken Pines (?)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Sacrificial Greatsword; Whiteblind; Serpent Spine; Favonius Greatsword
Skyward Pride is BiS for DPS and Sub DPS roles due to its energy Recharge and high attack scaling. I’m not sure if the new claymore in 1.5 will surpass this due to its physical damage buff, but as a Sub DPS ER is very important. Serpent Spine is also very good for DPS.
Sacrificial Greatsword is BiS as a pure support and is even better than Skyward Pride as a full support role. Prototype Archaic is a solid f2p option for DPS while the Whiteblind is recommended for support.
Artifacts
Overview - Sub DPS / Support
(4pc) Noblesse Oblige; (2pc) NO, (2pc) Exile; (4pc) Tenacity of the Millelith
Noblesse is the standard for any burst support character and Xinyan is no exception. If you’re already running a 4pc user consider using exile with it for the extra ER.
If you have c2+ you might consider Tenacity of the Millelith. Xinyan is currently (and conditionally) the best shielder in the game for this artifact set right now as long as she can maintain her level 3 shield. (This is much easier to do at c2)
If you already have a good burst support and want some more general support out of Xinyan then TotM is a very good option!
Stats
Timepiece: Energy Recharge or Def%
*Run ER unless she’s already >170%
Goblet: Def% or Physical Dmg Bonus
*Def% for stronger shield, Phys Dmg for more Burst Dmg
Circlet: Def% or Crit
Sub Stat Priority
Def% > Crit > Energy Recharge > Atk%
*if c2 you don’t need Crit rate since her burst always crits. Stack Crit Dmg instead
Overview - DPS
(2pc) Pale Flame, (2pc) Bloodstained; (4pc) Retracing Bolide; (4pc) Gladiator
PF/Bloodstained is most consistent for physical DPS. Retracing Bolide is also a solid option. Go with whatever gives the best sub stats. She can also use 4pc Gladiator set.
Stats
Timepiece: Atk%
Goblet: Physical Damage Bonus
Circlet: Crit
Sub Stat Priority
Crit > Atk% > ER > Atk > Def%
Team Comps
Xinyan is pretty flexible with her team comps. She can fit wherever you need a burst support or shielder. For DPS she pairs well with cryo and electro for superconduct support. Bennett is a great partner for her as a battery, healer, damage buffer and he provides Pyro resonance.
Note: Xinyan pairs well with physical DPS units as her shield increases physical dmg!
Sample Team Comps
F2P - DPS
Xinyan + Kaeya/Diona + Fischl/Lisa + Barbara
DPS
Xinyan + Bennett + Fischl + Diona/Rosaria/Kaeya
Burst Support
Razor + Diona + Xinyan + Bennett
Xiangling + Xinyan + Diona + Fischl
Ningguang + Albedo/Zhongli + Bennett + Xinyan
TLDR
Xinyan isn’t the most popular character in the game and she’s not really the first pick for any one role, but if built correctly she can still be viable! If you’re lucky and happen to have her constellations (c2 is most important) then she’s a solid bring on any team! She uses Books of Gold, Treasure Hunter Insignias and Tusks of Monoceros Caeli to level her talents. For DPS the Skyward Pride, Serpent Spine, and Prototype Archaic are great weapon options while Sacrificial Greatsword and Whiteblind are good for support. She can use a variety of artifact sets depending on her role. She fits into most team comps but especially synergizes with physical damage.
Hopefully this guide was helpful in some way! We stan the rocker girl from Liyue, even if her English voice sounds like Sandy Cheeks. 🐿
I ran out of time tonight but I’ll be doing a guide for Beidou tomorrow!!

THE REINCARNATION & SUCCESSOR
↳ first and foremost, my claim: ningguang is guizhong’s reincarnation.
Tumblr media
for those who are unfamiliar with who guizhong is:
guizhong was the goddess of dust, a kind and gentle deity.
she is one of the two gods who presided guilli plains prior to the archon war.
she was quite the engineer! she, along with cloud retainer , created the guizhong ballista , a device meant to protect liyue from evil entities.
she is no longer amongst the living, having perished in the archon war.
REINCARNATION
CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE / THEORIES
glaze lilies: glaze lilies is a rare species of flora found exclusively in liyue, and only in qingce village and yujing terrace in liyue harbor. glaze lilies is an ascension material for ningguang, the only character who requires it. but why or how does this connect to guizhong? simply put, guizhong was fond of flowers, and in particular, glaze lilies. the glaze lily is an important element of the rite of parting largely due to guizhong being zhongli’s most stalwart ally and friend. he probably commemorates her in this way.
engineers: both ningguang and guizhong exhibit exceptional engineering skills. guizhong is renown for her guizhong ballista, which was used to protect liyue. cloud retainer and even zhongli commended her ingenuity for manufacturing such advanced machinery. like her predecessor, ningguang herself is an exemplary engineer in her own right. she was the architect behind the creation of the jade chamber , the floating palace that orbited liyue by ningguang’s will ( cloud retainer even shows jealousy toward’s the jade chamber, and even seeks to surpass it ) she even managed to recreate guizhong’s ballistas as an offensive weapon for the jade chamber in their battle against osial.
ningguang’s constellation: ningguang’s constellation is literally a ballista.
memory of dust: the memory of dust once belonged to guizhong before she gave it to zhongli. it is a catalyst within the game that perfectly suits ningguang’s kit as a character.
SUCCESSOR
CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE / THEORIES
phoenix tattoo: in chinese mythology, the phoenix is attributed to the rise of a new emperor. ningguang is a member of the liyue qixing, which is a group of seven merchants and business leaders that govern liyue. her role within the liyue qixing is the tianquan, the one who presides over laws and governance. in a way, this could be seen as foreshadowing for ningguang, along with the other qixing, to succeed zhongli as the overseer of liyue. this does not mean that she will become an archon, or even an adeptus. she is merely rising to a more cemented position of authority with the “death” of their archon.
rex lapis’s “death” / zhongli’s trial: it is later revealed that rex lapis did not perish, rather, he was setting up a stage to test liyue and its inhabitants, to gauge whether or not it was ready to enter a new age without it’s archon.
reincarnation: with the return of guizhong in the form of ningguang, her reincarnation, perhaps another element for zhongli wishing to part from his role as an archon was to return liyue to it’s rightful overseer. the people of liyue were originally guizhong’s vassals, and they originated from the guili plains, but were forced to migrate south due to the archon war. it seems only poetic to leave the reincarnation of his late companion with the people she died trying to protect in her previous life.
the tsaritsa & the plan: this is purely speculation but i’m going to throw out this bone mostly because of seeing similar tropes in other animes / games. my theory as to why the tsaritsa is collecting the gnosis from other archons and putting the world into disarray similarly aligns with zhongli’s train of thought but at a larger, grander scale. the archons have lived for thousands of years, they have watched their civilization evolve from primitive villages to advanced societies. they’ve probably seen it all: seen these civilizations crash and burn, and rise up from the ashes. but even immortals grow weary. i think the tsaritsa undertook the endeavor of ending the era of the archons by singling herself out as the common enemy for all nations. by forcefully uprooting the age old authority in all the nations, she might be collecting the gnosis to destroy them all, forcing the entirety of teyvat into a new era where they can no longer rely on their archons or visions. with the end of the archon age, everyone will soon become common folk, equal, free, you could argue. but again, this is just the speculation of a person who has played and watched too much games and shows. mihoyo will debunk me eventually.
FINAL THOUGHTS
ningguang being guizhong’s reincarnation makes sense because she is also rex lapis’s successor. the people of liyue were originally guizhong’s people from the guili plains, and due to the archon war, they had to move south into what is now liyue harbor. after her passing, rex lapis undertook the mantle of watching over her people, nurturing and providing for them as an oath to their former overseer. rex lapis continues to honor this promise, until ningguang is discovered. she is but a waif, collecting shells along yaoguang shoal to sell. they probably bear no striking resemblance, but it’s unmistakable who she is. with the return of liyue’s rightful overseer, it only makes sense for rex lapis to give the mantle to her, but he first needed to deem her worthy. reincarnation is a fickle thing, and the only way he could freely, and without guilt, return the role to guizhong’s reincarnation is to test her mettle. ningguang does most of the work for him, proving she is the master of her own fate by  overcoming the odds set against her with an indomitable spirit, will, and wit. she rises to the station of tianquan with her own power, never relying heavily on the vision bestowed upon her. and it is here is were the final trial lies: can liyue survive without their archon? can liyue rise above age old tradition and enter a new era without their god? they can, they have, they will. ningguang has proven herself worthy and capable. she, along with the other qixing, will usher liyue into a revolutionary era where they themselves will be the captains of their own fate and future.

PERSONALS I AM GOING TO HAVE TO ASK YOU TO NOT REBLOG THIS POST. IT IS FOR MY OWN PERSONAL USE.
KAEYA RAGNVINDR
Tumblr media
name: kaeya ragnvindr affiliation: the knights of favonius location: germany ability: glacial waltz - kaeya has moderate control over ice and temperature, and can make things around him freeze. as well as this, he is capable of creating ice from the water vapor in the air and can as such weaponize his ability at any time.
bio: born in an unknown place, kaeya was found and taken in by crepus ragnvindr in germany, where he became acquainted with his new adoptive brother diluc. as diluc ascended, so too did he, until kaeya’s adoptive father was killed in a tragic accident. the brothers mutually decided having nothing to do with eachother would be beneficial, and after they split apart, kaeya took over diluc’s old position in the knights of favonius, an ability user organization dedicated to keeping the peace all throughout germany.
due to recent activity in yokohama, several of the knights of favonius as well as other ability users have made their way over to see what the cause of commotion is. kaeya specifically has an interest in the book, but has no desire to use it himself, instead taking interest in keeping the fatui--a group of ability users hailing from russia, separate from the decay of angels and more intwined with the nation’s government--away from it.

name: diluc ragnvindr alias: the darknight hero affiliation: dawn winery location: germany ability: dawn - allows diluc to summon a large phoenix-shaped burst of fire which he can then command for a short time around once per day. if he has already used this ability in the day, he can use his ability to create and control ordinary fire.
bio: heir to the wealthiest man in germany, diluc had it all. he was a talented boy who surpassed expectations and was easily able to attain the rank of cavalry captain in the knights of favonius. however, the death of his father sent everything crashing down. with the knights refusing to release or investigate any official evidence due to the political impact it might have, diluc became frustrated and left the city for a time, staying at dawn winery and becoming even wealthier due to the demand of the dandelion wine only dawn winery could produce.
eventually, he began to aid in the protection of germany from outside ability users with his large chain of connections and his unnamed antihero alias, essentially becoming germany’s very own masked vigilante. when the knights of favonius talked of sending men over to yokohama to investigate the commotion there, diluc was made aware of the situation from a “well-informed individual” and accompanied them under the guise of having a business deal with a powerful player located in yokohama.
he seeks to keep the book out of the hands of the abyss order, almost-humans with suspiciously organized ranks.
LUMINE
Tumblr media
name: lumine affiliation: armed detective agency? location: yokohama “ability”: outsider - an ‘ability’ picked up when lumine entered this dimension and presumably shared by her brother; lumine can copy and use any ability she has seen in action. when she copies an ability, she will be able to use that ability for as long as she would like until it is overwritten by the next time she copies an ability. to copy an ability, she has to be in the line of sight of an ability user.
bio: you won’t find any record of lumine or her brother aether before the incidents taking place in yokohama began, though it’s unclear whether this is due to their relative unimportance prior to that or the fact that they hadn’t been in this dimension before that. regardless, they will not show up in any official investigations, and aether is still missing to everyone who has been looking.
the first people to find lumine were the armed detective agency, and it was there that she herself learned of the ability she gained in coming to this dimension when she accidentally copied atsushi’s ability for the first time. from then, it was decided that if anyone could help her find her brother, it would be detectives, and so lumine was given a test and accepted into the armed detective agency.
of course, this isn’t the end of the complications, as she accidentally finds herself caught up in the plans of the abyss order and the fatui, accidentally dragging the agency into things with her.
CHILDE
Tumblr media
name: ??? alias(es): tartaglia (fatui harbinger title), childe (casual alias) affiliation: the fatui location: russia ability: master of weapons - childe’s ability allows him to turn nearby water into solid weapons, though the water must either be in vapor or liquid form, as ice is difficult to mold. any water-made weapon childe uses will be five times more powerful as the weapon normally would be. additionally, childe can change the form of his weapon at any time and it will only go away if childe himself ends the ability--as the weapon is water, it cannot be broken.
bio: childe is one of the eleven harbingers of the fatui, an organization in russia with its roots deeply in the russian government. they have ties everywhere, all across the world, and worked closely with fyodor dostoyevsky in his endeavor to attack yokohama. after his defeat and the loss of the decay of angels (another organization they had ties with), the fatui decided to send some of their own, among which were childe himself and la signora, a significantly crueler harbinger.
childe himself has no interest in the book and actively avoids conflict with other ability users, claiming there’s something bigger at play that he would like to figure out on his own. that said, he is still prone to using underhanded tactics and doesn’t stop la signora from initiating conflicts.
ZHONGLI
Tumblr media
name: exuvia alias(es): rex lapis & morax (”godly” names), zhongli (human alias) affiliation: ??? location: china ability: prime of the adepti - prior to becoming a transcendental, zhongli’s ability was a defensive ability that could completely petrify anyone within a 50 foot radius of him so long as they were touching the ground. however, because of the additional abilities he has gained since then (shapeshifting, illusions, etc), this can no longer be considered his only ability.
bio: zhongli comes from a time before the modern nations of the world, a forgotten era of magic and wisdom that came before everything in the history we know today. it was there that he first became an immortal transcendental and outlasted the rest of his society, watching the magic of the older days become forgotten, living on only in the form of rare “ability users”.
he lived among the human world for some time, appearing once a year as any sort of animal with bright amber eyes to guide the humans around him. it was because of this that he began to be worshipped as a god, being given the name “rex lapis” by those who believed him fully. unfortunately, this tradition began to die out as technology advanced and you became disgusted with the humans that had left behind tradition. it was only recently, at the request of a friend, that you took on a human form once more and began a life in this new world to attempt to adapt to the changes you had seen.
not a long while later, he was summoned to yokohama by another transcendental, though he abstained from offering aid or guidance, choosing to keenly observe the actions of the humans on either side of the conflict to see whether or not it would be worth giving them guidance once more.
