Popular Study Methods I dont like

A list of study techniques that dont work for me at all. But study methods can work amazing for one person and then just complicate studying more for another. If they work for you, awesome, i'm happy about that. These are my personal experience with them, a lot of people wont relate and thats fine, people are different. But if you relate why these common/popular methods dont work for me, know you arent the only one and that there are more options. People might tell you "this method is amazing, you should do this" and there for you is shit.

Memorazing

Avoid this. When you memorize you dont learn. You cannot conect concepts because you dont understand. One thing is memorazing formulas, which is nessesary, but memorazing everything doesnt work. Understandment is way better. Yes, we need to remember and storage the information in our memory, but memorazing is different. Knowing the theory ord by word is shit if you cannot explain it in different words, conect it wit other concepts or put in practise.

Flashcards

Yep, studyblr favourite study method. Bear with me.

For me, it is a really passive way. When i make the Q&As of the flashcards, i remember the answers. I dont think. I associate the words. And then, when the test has the questions phrased different, my mind goes blank. It seem liked i learned because i remember but i wasnt actually learning.

Now you are probably thinking "use it for vocabulary". That doesnt help me either. Maybe it helps for knowing the meaning in a reading, but writing? I cant remember the spelling. For learning to spell a word i need to write it down. Use it in a sentence. Reading it over and over doesnt do anything.

All-nighters

Oh god, there is nothing worse than an all-nighter. One all-nighter will ruin your sleep schedule for weeks and tired=learn less. Plus, too much all-nighters lead to burn out.

With better time management, all-nighters wouldnt probably exist, or at least, be reduced by a lot

Also, as someone with chronic migraines, an all-nighter'd only give me a week straight with only terrible pain and i prefer failing a subject than that (i'd had to learn the hard way that lesson. always prioritaze your health)

Pomodoro

It's a little bit hypocrital of me to put it here, as I usually reccomend it to others. But personally? It just de-motivaties and stresses me. (disclaimer: it is a good technique, thats why i recomend it even if it doesnt work for me).

I'll explain why. The only way i can do a lot of productive stuff together (or just a long assignment) is to "get in the mood" or have like a "streak". I usually have to power through the first 5-10 minutes of studying and then i get super motivated and do a lot until my brain asks for a break. When the timer rings, it breaks it and i have to repeat the rutine again. It wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt that i work 3 or 4 times faster when i motivated than when i am powering through.

Also, having the self-impose deadline of a pomodoro (i know it isnt technically a deadline, but for some unknown reason, my brain processes it as one) makes me nervous and gives me anxiety. Just knowing the timer is going to go off anytime un-focus me. It's unnesesary stress.

I guarantee you there is one manifestation of disability that almost everyone on this planet has actively laughed at and made fun of. yes, even you

can you guess what it is?

it's something there are constant gags about in media, something people mention in passing as a joke

something that if it presented itself in a public space i guarantee in most situations would be openly and loudly mocked (and if not humour, most people would at least express disgust)

don't believe me, do you?

yep, it's incontinence. (get your giggles out now folks)

I am partially incontinent due to a fun cocktail of mental and physical disabilities and i know for a fact this is where people will stop reading, have a little laugh, and move on thinking this isn't worth the read anymore

but please, if you want to be a true disability ally, stick around and listen.

5% of the world population is estimated to be incontinent to some degree. 1 in 20 people (and no, that is not just elderly people)

so yea when you're in the grocery store, or at the gay bar, or seeing your college theatre's rendition of Grease - chances are there's a good handful of people in the crowd who struggle with incontinence.

it might be just someone who has minimal stress incontinence - something very common in people who have been pregnant - or someone who has adhd and forgets to go to the bathroom, missing the cues from their body that they are desperate, or yea it could be the 85 yr old grandma who wears diapers.

the point is, all of these people deserve respect for their bodies. everyone does. and this includes bodies that malfunction sometimes.

'omg thats so funny im gonna pee myself' 'reddit boys can go piss in ur little baby diapers' - great comeback bestie, but can we move on from them now? im gonna be honest these don't offend me personally, but it's worth being aware of where the humour of these comments comes from. its rooted in ableism

but something that does offend me and something that genuinely triggers me to have panic attacks and can push me into an anxious depressive state for days at a time, is when a character wetting themself is used as the butt of a joke on screen.

i'm thinking season one of stranger things. yeah, most of us know the scene right? when eleven forces a bully to pee his pants in front of the whole school? yep, triggers my ptsd right good that one does. and my siblings ptsd. and im sure many many many more ppl with incontinence (or even ppl without it who had the unfortunate experience of an accident in school)

if you found it funny, i dont care at this point. keep doing you. i dont blame you, okay? but i just want to ask that you reconsider WHY you laughed. 'because he pissed himself' okay but WHY is that funny? 'older kids and adults arent supposed to piss themselves' yea well it happens sometimes to most people at least once, and to 1 in 20 people much more often than that. so WHY is that funny?

keep asking why why why... and if in the end you can't think of WHY, then maybe there isnt a reason for you to laugh at it except that you've been taught to by osmosis. because everyone else laughs

dont give up here, because this is where i want you to really think. is it worth it?

is it worth laughing at something just because everyone else is, and risk 5% of the population going into a self conscious spiral, a panic attack because of your mocking, making them think they will never be accepted?

obviously u making a "im gonna piss myself" comment while laughing does not put 1 in 20 ppl into a panic attack, but u get where im coming from now i hope

so if you're still reading, im guessing you want to reconsider some of your behaviours and comments about this subject. thank you! now that you've realised where these jokes are rooted, you're going to start noticing a lot more often just how much this disability is mocked in society.

but what else can you do to help?

consider sticking up for us because understandably incontinent people dont tend to stick up for themselves lest it out us as incontinent. because admitting that is still met with laughter and disgust. help us jumpstart the incontinence acceptance by speaking up for the silent minority whenever an incontinence joke comes up in class/family gatherings/general conversation (this is my opinion, any other incontinent folks are v welcome to challenge this if u would rather ppl didnt for whatever reason!)

another thing you can do is - you won't like this - dont call ppl disgusting for buying adult diapers with silly animal characters on. unpopular opinion here on tumblr dot com, i know

but listen: incontinence products are disability aids! pullups, incontinence pads/pants, adult diapers, these are all disability aids. not products of k!nk, not things to snigger at in the pharmacy.

and would you complain about someone putting hello kitty stickers on their walking cane? would you think it gross for someone to doodle little stars and affirmations on their wheelchair armrest? is it wrong if someone wants pink hearing aids instead of a nude coloured ones? no?

then don't laugh if someone wants lil hearts on their pullups, and don't fake gag if you happen to see purple patterned adult diapers on ur dash. sometimes humans just like to decorate their bodies and extensions of their bodies. this is just that. and lets be real, plain white nappies just aren't the vibe sometimes

~ while we're at it, ppl with stoma bags are beautiful and deserve to wear whatever they want to feel comfortable and handsome as hell 😘 ~

and let me address the elephant in the room. yeah, some people have a f3tish for this stuff (just like anything can be made into a f3tish). whatever. if ur against that stuff then idc pls dont talk abt it in the tags and comments. anyway it is NOT an excuse to find actual disabled ppl disgusting for needing these aids.

and heres the funny thing: you usually can't tell if someone uses diapers for a f3tish or for their disability, or possibly both!

so you're gonna have to not attack random ppl on the internet bc you don't know what their life is like (what a shocking new hot take)

if a 46 yr old balding man with a beer belly and chest hair who isn't visibly disabled mentions he uses diapers, don't assume he's a creep and its a k!nk. it might be, sure, but it might be a condition or disability that you have no right to comment on or judge him for.

so if youre squicked by it just block and move on, don't send anon hate, dont make a post about how these types of people make you sick. you might just lose a valued mutual who was secretly incontinent and thinks you hate them for it now (whether this is right or wrong, its often how these things come across)

(btw if anyone fuckin talks abt k!nk on this post im going to scream directly in ur ear :) make ur own posts and don't bring any f3tish discussion onto mine)

had to get that out of the way unfortunately because this is a condition that is so unfortunately overrepresented by the f3tish side. i wouldnt have to talk abt k!nk on many other posts about disabilty aids but this one unfortunately was necessary

it's exhausting

imagine having a disability that requires aids thats almost EVERYONE winces at, laughs at, mocks loudly. and then to come on tumblr, the place that is meant to be full of acceptance from strangers in similar circumstances, queer and disabled and poc - but the moment your aid is brought up in discussion its seen as something disgusting and the property of freaks and creeps and people who are evil and want to do children harm

it's exhausting, like i said

i dont have much else to add honestly, im shit at writing cohesive posts (especially when im physically shaking with anxiety bc woohoo announcing to possibly thousands of ppl that im incontinent) but if anything i just hope you will question yourself if you laugh at this stuff in future

im going to go back into my little anxiety hibernation hole and never open up about this condition again ✌🏼

as for the incontinent population, we’re pretty silent about this condition so it’s easy to forget abt us. but please just keep us in mind and stick up for us when u can

— for clarity: incontinence is not ALWAYS a disability, it is a condition that can affect ppl on a sliding scale. for some it is a mild inconvenience, for some it severely impacts daily life. for some it is the only physical condition their body experiences, for some it is a symptom of a predetermined mental or physical disability such as generalized anxiety disorder or paraplegia. whether or not it is considered a disability, acceptance of ALL incontinence is a good step to eradicating this source of ableism —

So I have a question. One that links back to the scene in Season 4 during the conversation between Nancy and Steve in the Upside down during the last episode and why I'm not really a fan of how the aftermath of it is handled in some fics I've read, but this is solely based off my own opinion.

For the sake of fanon over canon (canon doesn't exist. I dont know her) Let's say theres a scenario where all of the party are together, Eddie and Max are recovering and they're all at Steve's or something like that. But if we're gonna go down more of a canon route in S5 with Nancy, Jonathan and Steve, I honestly dont think either of them will end up together. (Mainly because I have a bad feeling at least two of these three arent gonna make it out alive) but back to fanon, let's say Jonathan and Nancy have broken up but they're still learning how to be around eachother as friends just like Steve and Nancy are doing. Again, I feel like this would've been a way better way to go for their character development if Stancy were spending their time together just learning how to be around eachother again. It would've made for a much better dynamic in season 5 between the three.

Anyhow, I'm getting sidetracked. Goes without saying that Steve is easily my favourite stranger things character. However I've always had some mixed feelings when it came to Nancy, noticing on more than one occasion that while she is genuinely a good person and a complete badass who knows how to get shit done, she seems to have some problems feeling empathy for others, especially if the situation doesnt apply to her, though you could argue that Mike has the same issue when it comes to El and Will, in which he tries to understand but when he knows he cant he instead becomes frustrated and more often than not takes it out on them. Nancy definitely has this issue with Steve in season 2. During the first part of season 2 and to an extent season 1, Steve tries to offer her a distraction to her problems with guilt rather than a solution. And to an extent I believe that was how Nancy came to view Steve during season 2. A distraction instead of a solution, eventually realising this distraction was no longer helping her and taking out her frustrations on the distraction before finding a solution by going with Jonathan to find Murray for answers and realising that Jonathan was the one she wanted.

However during season 3 they seem to have a hard time understanding eachother and on top of that the two barely interact with Steve at all. Yet in season 4 Steve and Nancy are left to reconnect while Jonathan is in California, not to mention the underlying subplot that her and Jonathan are realising that much like her and Steve, they each have very different ambitions.

Nancy is very career driven and wants to make a difference in the world. Jonathan just wants to take care of his family and stay close to them following everything that has happened and is unsure if what he really wants is to spend his life following Nancy rather than being by her side. Steve on the other hand has developed a somewhat paternal bond with the party following what is implied to have been a very fundamentally lonely life. It's for this reason that it makes sense he would he happy with a simple quiet life, travelling the world with a family of his own. I'm not sure if the Duffers did this on purpose to mislead us or whether they've just forgotten what each of these characters have been through in each season but when you put all that in perspective, none of these ambitions align in the slightest. If anyone thought that the whole winnebago talk would actually become a reality in season 5, maybe in an epilogue or something like that, then people seem to not realise that Nancy wanted anything but to end up like her parents and displays little interest in anything other than protecting those she has and focusing on her career. A simple life would not be satisfying for her.

Long story short, trying to put Stancy back together romantically would not work for either characters arc, at least in my opinion. If they were able to form a strong platonic friendship by the end of season 5 then that would be the most satisfying outcome to me.

On a slightly different note I started this with a question. I see it alot in fics where people tease Steve for expressing what he wants out of life, i.e, the whole six little nuggets conversation. Honestly I found that while scene really sweet and the characters in fics rarely bring this up as a way to be mean. But I've seen in some that Nancy actually brings up what Steve told her in the upside down as a way to tease him in front of their friends. Again, it's hardly ever written with any malicious intent other than to embarrass him but even so I really dont see that being something she would ever tell anyone, even their closest friends. While I stated previously that Nancy struggles with empathy, I fully believe that she sees that moment herself as Steve being truly genuine and heartfelt with her. Point being that as much as the idea may not appeal to her, she can see would not use something like that as an excuse to bring up in conversation as a way to tease him or embarrass him by stating out loud for everyone to hear that he once dreamed they would start a family. I dont believe that Steve would repeat it to anybody else either, even Robin. That is something personal to the two of them whether Steve really knows what he wants or not and it's clear that there are alot of unspoken things regarding the past between them that I can see bringing up some tension in season 5.

Though I can't deny that I've had some angsty ideas following these thoughts. Imagine another scene like the bullshit scene in s2, only its after she finds out that Jonathan lied to her about college and maybe she gets drunk again, possibly for the first time since season 2 and when Steve tries to comfort her (maybe he found her first or she seeks him out, idk) but she reflects back on how it felt reconnecting with him in 4 and the conversation they had and drunkenly makes a move on him and is left even more confused when he rejects her and throws back in his face everything he said to her. Maybe Robin or Eddie or Jonathan overhear and jump in to seperate them before it turns into a fight. Steve feels guilty while Nancy is just even more confused about her feelings for Steve and Jonathan. Maybe it ends with them finally talking things through, Steve confesses he has feelings for someone else (I wonder who) and with a clearer head they realise it makes more sense for them to just learn to get to know eachother as friends again.

Anyhow sorry for the ramble, that's all for now :)

Hi, this isn't really a Kaylor ask but as someone who has been following your blog for a long time, I was wondering if you could give me any advice about work-life balance?

Not just work and life, but also a wide variety of things — health, fitness, hobbies, social life, personality improvement, etc.

It feels like whenever I try to focus on one aspect of my life, I end up neglecting the others and so I'm always returning to square and moving very slowly ahead. But I'm also not good at multitasking or routines. Am I the only adult who's not able to get their life together even though it shouldn't be that hard? :(

hey! oh wow last night i was having dinner with a preschool mom friend of mine and we were talking about how hard this is!

i definitely don’t have a complete answer for you because i’m an entire work in progress 😭 and also everyone is gonna be a little different based on personality and life situation, but, here are some things that have worked for me. maybe something resonates for you!

i think one reason why i adopted the tea habit for me—aside from wanting to clean out my cabinets— was because i wanted to have a small victory for myself each morning. with habit building, some people will drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, or do a quick breathing exercise while still in bed… sometimes people do mantras or self affirmations. in essence, it’s something that you can set yourself up to complete with very minimal effort, and that will help you start off your day with a small sense of accomplishment. i’m a simple person… when i feel productive at the start of my day, im more likely to have a productive rest of the day 😆 and i can trick myself to feel productive simply by pressing a button on a tea kettle first thing every morning!!

alright, so, as for balance.. i think it’s important to recognize that work-life balance is less about achieving a perfect balance but more about getting better at knowing when you should prioritize something and then tipping the balance board in that direction with intention, maybe loosening your grip on other things that command your attention, or even streamlining them temporarily to make leaning into the one thing easier.

i’ll give an example i read about somewhere. i think for a lot of people, the holidays can be a stressful time. especially if you’re running a household or doing some amount of activities for other people, prepping and shopping and planning and getting ready for events or parties or gift giving can put a huge weight on resources and you might find yourself neglecting daily household tasks like dishwashing or laundry or self care. even if you arent the head of a home, it’s a stressful time of year and the stress can put a damper on your mood! one strategy i read about that i partially tried this holiday season was to temporarily change parts of your house and life into holiday mode: pack away all but one set of dishes and silverware, pack away or push aside your wardrobe and pick out five outfits that you’ll wear for the next few months, and streamline your daily beauty process (some examples are, cutting your hair short or getting a perm or treatment, putting all your skincare and makeup away and just using an all-in-one cleanser/moisturizer and like, one palette of makeup etc etc). basically the person was saying, it’s good to be mindful of the season that you are in and transform your space into battle mode when you need to. by taking away many of the options and streamlining the decision making process, it helps you focus more on getting through whatever it is you need to get through with. what i did was the dishes thing. i packed away everything but a single set of dishes for the family and went through december and january like that. the benefit is that it lowers the hurdle of dishwashing giving it a cap of about 15 minutes, whereas the stresses of the holidays often lead to reaching for another dish and another and another, just because you have them, in lieu of tending to the sink, and before you know it you have an hours long task. i’ve actually kept a lot of dishes stored away still because of how much easier this is 😆

in terms of work, i’m not sure your age or occupation but in case you’re in a 9-to-5 type situation i think it’s important to remember that most people are simply not paying attention to you. everyone is first and foremost focused on themselves. it’s a simple thing but i think it’s hard to remember. especially if you are a hard worker that naturally wants to do the best job that you can. it’s okay not to get it perfect. in fact, the most successful people, i think, are great at giving 80 or 70% consistently and quickly, in contrast to someone who gives 110% but sometimes burns out or often takes forever to make a decision.

there’s a japanese phrase called “saba yomi” which literally means “read the mackerel” and nowadays it is used to describe the act of estimating numbers in one’s favor (for example saying you are 25 when you’re actually 28). but it originally comes from the work of commercial fishers that pull in huge nets of mackerel, and how they report their numbers. in the olden days, refrigeration technology was not where it is today, and when there are hundreds or thousand of fish in a haul, you simply couldn’t take the time to count every fish in the net, take out the similar looking fish, etc, to get an accurate count, because the longer you take, the worse the taste of the fish would get. in other words, oftentimes, accuracy sacrifices quality.

when you can put down the armor and realize that not many people are paying attention to you granularly, i think it’s easier to let go of a need to get every detail of work perfect. and ironically in some ways, this can make you better at your job.

i think a common thread to everything i wrote is the idea of checking in with yourself and talking with yourself about what situation you’re in and how you’re going to approach it. this week work is gonna be busy so i’m just gonna wear these clothes and just do this hairstyle and power through, and this way i won’t have to have a huge pile of laundry and a messy bathroom to get through at the end of it. or, today im feeling like i’ve got a cold coming on so im just going to give 80% effort today and give myself a quiet moment later on in the day to relax. or, im not going to get everything right for awhile but ill do something simple each morning that i know i can do, and congratulate myself for it right away.

i hope there was something in here that helps… at any rate, be kind to yourself!! every day is a miracle in its own way.

I'm going to assume this question was asked in good faith, but also put up a disclaimer: I'm not interested in arguing about the IDW comics. If you don't like them, that's fine! That said:

I like the IDW Sonic comics because I find them to be very fun and engaging. I like these characters and I like seeing them put in situations. For the most part, the events and characters in the comics jive with what I'm used to from the games, to the point where honestly they all blend together in my mind, which is why you see a lot of IDW stuff in the Sonic fics I write. I love most of the original characters. I love all of the unbreakable bond content we've gotten. I love the angst and drama that we get because it's dramatic without it tipping into something unbelievable for the series. I love that any romance that happens in the comics is toned down and off to the side and that the friendships come first. The art is magnificent. And I can tell that a lot of joy and love goes into these comics—joy and love for the art, the characters, and the world—and that's not always a guarantee when it comes to licensed media. So the fact that the people working on the comics are Sonic fans first and foremost, and that really shows in the work, is something I enjoy a lot.

There is not a single piece of media out there that is perfect and without flaws. The Sonic games—all of them—have flaws. The Archie comics had flaws. The Sonic animated programs have flaws. Non-Sonic media has flaws, too. This is because every piece of art that has ever been created was created by human beings, and human beings are flawed creatures. Our flaws transfer into our work. But as a flawed human, I can engage with media that has flaws and still enjoy it. I can say, hey, maybe "Trial By Fire" wasn't the most interesting arc in the world to me because it was very Belle-centric and I'm not a fan of her character, but the comic as a whole is still enjoyable to me and so I'm willing to keep reading. The pros outweigh the cons here. And I can also say, this is a comic that makes me happy, so instead of focusing on the aspects of it that I'm not a fan of, I'm going to instead talk about the aspects of it that I love, and not engage with people who hate the comic and spend their time talking about how much they hate about it. Because that is not a productive use of my time and energy, and I only have so much time left on this earth. How much, I don't know. I could die tomorrow. But if I do die tomorrow, then I want to die knowing that I spent my free time doing things that brought me happiness, rather than anger and upset.

Again, if you don't like the IDW comics for whatever reason, that is fine for you. Everyone has different tastes, and the world would be really boring if we all thought the exact same things all the time. But having said that, freedom of speech means that while you're free to say what you want without persecution from the government, it doesn't mean that others are required to give you a platform and engage with your opinion. I really like the IDW Sonic comics. They make me happy. And fruitlessly arguing with people whose opinions I will never agree with any more than they will agree with mine does not make me happy. There are things that are worth fighting about in this world. Civil liberties, for instance. Workers' rights. But a comic series about brightly colored anthropomorphic animals is not one of those things. I'm not going to waste my time fighting about it, and I would recommend that you not waste your time fighting over it, either.

So tl;dr:

I like the IDW Sonic comics because I think they are fun and engaging. And I don't like arguing with people who dislike them. So if you feel the need to do that, please go do it with someone else, because I am not interested. Thank you.

Technically the whole you can't be hypnotised without consent is a bit of a simplification. To kind of very very roughly explain it, It's a case of trust and alarm. Alec trusts nate and listens to him, nate is also someone whose super good at Manipulation and using the right words to get what he wants. It's not out of the question for Nate to subtly guide Alec towards relaxation and then slowly take him down into trance and deepen it over time. Especially if he used several sessions to build up his influence before planting a trigger. 1/3

Basically since he already has Alec's trust so as long as nate doesnt say or attempt to do anything that that would alarm Alec or cause his consciousness to react I.e. do something that he would instinctively object to. he could technically slowly convince Alec to want what Nate wants to do to him. As long as he words things in the right way and has enough time to build up his control. This is very rough and not exactly 1:1 with reality and definetly not what a decent 'tist would do. The only thing that would make me question it was how little time it took. But that can be handwaved as nate just being an awesome mastermind. Also shaking off hypnosis and hypnotic triggers in real life can be incredibly difficult depending on how deep they were and how long the 'tist has been reinforcing and using them. Its a long process and people who have really strong triggers can have certain things that just won't change or ever go away

TLDR: Alec wouldnt necessarily need to consent or be fully aware to be hypnotised. And actually what nate did is super scummy even though its played for laughs. And Alec is well in his rights to be super upset and angry at nate for what he did. Eliot too has a right to be upset and gry for when Sophie conditioned him without his consent especially considering what we learn in future episodes about him. These are people with a position of power and trust who decided to use it to fuck with the brains of people who rely on them. For basically a laugh. Nate could have just asked for Alecs consent and co-operation in order to hypnotise him and plant the trigger but instead did it the way he did. If it was me I'd be terrified because Alec can never be exactly a hundred percent sure what Nate has done to him or gotten him to do. Same with Eliot or even Parker. How can they be 100% sure that they don't have triggers or conditioned responses they arent aware of?

Okay so I already thanked you in another ask for this detailed and very interesting explanation,but I gotta have say THANK YOU again. I mean, wow! I didn't realize how many cliches and simplification I had already in my head about hypnosis - say, the part with "you need to agree to the hypnosis to make it work", I really thought that's real- so this was honestly an eye-opening read here!

And now I understand the team's reactions much better. Honestly, I never thought that Nate did this was played for laughs (I mean, everybody stormed out on him right after) but for me who really believed the whole "consent for hypnosis to work" bit, it was real confusing to figure out if that meant Hardison was hypnotized against his will. Hearing now that this can ACTUALLY happen makes his fear and anger much more understandable! I also would not like the idea of someone messing with my head like that, especially if it's someone whom I trust and someone who could have freaking asked before attempting this.

In this new light, I wonder why Nate did not just state what he was about to do. He did it to relax Hardison so the heist would be successful and Hardison could shine. That's a very good reason! Had he explained it like that, I don't think Hardison would have disagreed. Okay maybe he would have been like "yeah as if that's gonna work bro" but he would have agreed, I'm 99 % sure. What is this about - showing Hardison that to be a team leader, you need to be an icecold ass???

Also sheds a new light on Sophie's bit with Eliot and the tea pouring here. It's the same freaking thing! I think. At least to me as a beginner in manipulation, hypnosis and what not, it sounds incredibly similar. Suggestion, and planting triggers, and the fear of the victim that it could happen again.

Now it's kind of ironic that it's Sophie who gets to call out Nate for provoking everyone into leaving him alone, when she did the exact same thing earlier. Huh.

Alas, all in all, this leaves a really weird feeling with me. On one hand, Leverage is trying to tell me that these guys are like a family and trust each other (see: "Inside Job") and then the next episode, both the "heads" of the team manipulate their team members and make them understandably angry.

Show runners, are you trying to tell me this is a wholesome weirdo family with some problems now, or are you not? Gotta decide here, I'm getting very mixed signals on the "wholesome" part now.

EDIT: (I'm two episodes further now and the problem does not even get addressed. I do not like that it does not get addressed.)

For someone who frequently claims they arent in the art community you sure do care alot about other people's agency regarding their own OCs in an art trading game.

The reason why everyone was getting annoyed with you is because, you asked a question (which is fine), and they gave you an answer, however the answers were clearly not something you wanted to hear so your approach is to simply ask again, but at that point there are no more answers to be given because everything that's been said has already been said. You literally already had a predetermined stance on the situation by calling people's boundaries "dumb" before you posed your question so at that point, no one's answers would be satisfactory to you.

I'm going to address a few things you said:

Saying shit like "well im gonna just draw our ocs together out of spite" is how you get blocked. Go ahead. Do it. Just don't get upset with the consequences. I don't care if you didn't mean it, or if it was out of anger, you've already put it out there and now people have reason to avoid you.

Just because YOUR intent was to draw them in a "100% sfw matter" does not make the boundaries any different or less in place. When someone says "I don't want my OC drawn with other OCs" they mean it in ALL fashions. PERIOD. SFW or NSFW. They want NONE of it.

"I tend to not follow rules that don't make any sense" as neurodivergent person myself I will tell you right now that just because something doesnt make sense does not give you a right to go against someone's wishes. That applies for alot of things.

"It's not like im publishing a whole novel or anything with their characters in it" LITERALLY no one is expecting that nor wanting that. It doesnt matter what form the content is in, whether novel, artwork, sketch, ANYTHING. They do not want your OC interacting with theirs UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. REGARDLESS OF THE MEDIUM. Everyone has different reasons for not wanting their OCs drawn with other people. Maybe they had a triggering experience, or someone broke their trust, or they simply just don't feel comfortable. Whatever the reason may be, THEY don't owe you an explanation. It is entirely okay to find something stupid. You are in your right to find things stupid or not understand things. That is a human thing and we all do it. The problem is that you are actively choosing to bother yourself over boundaries some random people have, when you could be seeking out people with permissions/boundaries that match YOURS. FIND people who DO want their OCs drawn with yours and move on! Who cares about a small group of individuals who don't want their OCs drawn with yours?? You literally could have avoided getting yourself blocked and avoided by alot of people in ArtFight if you just said "hey you know what, I don't get this but whatever. I'll go find some other people" and moved tf on but instead you've made yourself known to be an asshole in the community. You still have a chance to rectify this but you need to understand that the entire world is not going to play by your rules and you're going to learn that very quickly.

on goodtimeswithscar and wheelchair/disability representation in fanart / fics

goodtimeswithscar is disabled and i feel that sometimes as a fandom we just collectively choose to ignore that, which can be very yucky and uncool of us. we should acknowledge the fact that, yeah! he's disabled and adding that representation into character designs can be super beneficial to not only the disabled community but also people who arent disabled! having that representation in fanart and fics can educate people who only know very little about scar's particular condition, granted the fancreator had to have done their research and done it well.

i made some headcanons to inspire and encourage some of y'all to make your own or maybe even use these (if you do use these please @ me and link the post, i would absolutely love to see what y'all create)

i have not included headcanons about scar's feeding tube just because i don't know enough about feeding tubes and what i've read hasn't been all that helpful ._.

- last life / 3rd life

he goes between a proper wheelchair and a horse (yellow snow) or a llama (pizza) when on an animal he has a saddle / chair thingy that supports his back and has the strap like his irl chair has (couldn't find if there's a proper name for the strap)

yes i know it's practically impossible to get onto an animal when you are a full-time wheelchair user, but in 3rd life scar had grian to help and in last life scar is a wizard so maybe he uses one of his crystals/a levitation potion to get up on a horse.

life is very hard for him on last life because there's no 'easy' way to be a wheelchair user especially when alliances are always changing and theres not one set person to help him with the Daily Struggle of being disabled combined with the constant need to run around.

prev hc is also a great reason for his absence in session 7! he was so drained from the toll of losing all his lives and chaos that he hunkered down somewhere real hidden and took that day to rest and gain his bearings emotionally and physically.

scar's oxygen tank in 3rd life is a compact oxygen tank, he often had trouble with it on pizza because it may be compact but it's still clunky. in the sand castle there was a designated room for the oxygen tanks when they were used up and where they waited until they were refilled. he had about three or four in the room. scars wheelchair had room for two tanks so he'd take that around the desert instead of pizza cause she did not like having more than one tank.

in 3rd life scar's oxygen tank is a crystal (much more compact than an actual tank, but holds the same amount- almost like magic!!) which floats next to him and connects to the cannula just like a tank.

- hermitcraft season 8

he has a wheelchair-like mini swaggon!! maybe the boatem hole helped scar out and made the swaggonchair (trademarked term now lmao) easier to use and enderpearl & elytra (no idea how the elytra would work with the swaggonchair) compatible! that's why he dies to the void so much because everything comes at a cost :)

he uses his swaggonchair to transport his mini swaggons to other hermits (that with a combination of the llama)

scar loves his company car, he likes collecting modes of transportation and eventually he'd like to make them all enderpearl and elytra compatible but he doesnt know the toll it'll take on him to do that because the boatem hole already saps a lot of his energy, but the deal of an upgraded chair was too good to pass up.

scar's oxygen tank is very similar to his oxygen tank in 3rd life, he just has a lot more because he travels much further.

medical storage / hospital swaggon perhaps?? maybe all his villagers are disabled too :) he wanted people like him. i'm calling it, one of the villagers will have ONH (optic nerve hypoplasia) because i want my representation lmao.

hi hello i couldn't sleep last night so i was scrolling thru all ur asks and stuff and ur opinions and analyses are so interesting!!! and then afterwards i was thinking about what u were saying about mlm smut and i'd also been thinking about such things a little bit recently bc like.....at a certain point it becomes quite clear that the vast majority of smut-writing is just imitation. like there's the sex noise verb list and all and the whole general mechanics of the sex and those things just .... replicate over and over. and the whole thing w people writing mlm vs wlw smut regardless of their own sexual orientation..... like i feel like a big part of that is just a self-perpetuating thing. like if u have not had sex and u r getting all ur (pleasure-related) sex ed from fandom (even if u do watch porn, that doesn't rlly tell u how to describe stuff? idk) regardless of What fandom , the majority is going to be mlm smut. which is itself majority imitation of other mlm smut, imitating and imitating back to whoever knows what the first smut fanfic was etc. there's just way More to mimic than there is on the women side of things. which then becomes a self-perpetuating thing, bc the mimicry continues and generates more and more. and---if there are fundamental misunderstandings of anatomy involved---those self-perpetuate as well. and maybe even exaggerate. and yeah. does this all make sense? idk i was just thinking about it. like all the stereotypes and stuff continue bc writers are getting their inspo from other writers rather than their own brains. or something. idk!!!!! it's just all... divorced from reality? bc words. or something!! i hope u get what i'm trying to say. just thoughts i've been thinking. anyway i think ur thoughts are cool. and ur writing. ok bye have a good day!!

This video begins to talk about fetishization at the end, but also… not really. The words “gay fanfiction” is used as a catchall, when really gay fanfiction is largely mlm written by non-mlm.

Fandom is a largely women's space dominated by the female gaze in a media industry world that is dominated by men and the male gaze. I'm really glad women have this space to explore creativity and queerness, and I don't expect the female gaze to go away, but I am still ultimately bummed out I can’t read most fanfic or interact with most fandom spaces without having fetishization in my face.

So about 80% of fandom is women, and most of those women aren't straight, but 90% of those women prefer mlm ships. Why don’t they prefer wlw ships? Well definitely part of it is the fact that queerbaiting is centered around white straight men, and then there is also the fact that women tend not to be written as well charcter wise. But the fact still remains that you get jerjean getting priority over Layla and Alvarez who are in canon just as much and are a canon wlw couple who actually interact as well as Alvarez could likely be a woc because of her Hispanic last name. Korasami doesn’t get nearly as much hype as zuko and saka, despite the fact that they are 2 fully dimensional characters who canonly kiss and hold hands, something the creators fought for and ended up having to sacrifice another reboot for.

I do believe the fandom echo-chamber is largely responsible for… a lot of things, like you're saying. But what's interesting is that the complaints I've heard about visual porn from non mlm in the fandom space is that they can’t get off to it because its for the male gaze and misogynistic usually. But they also don't seem to notice how the mlm smut circles has the female gaze and is also… almost always mlm. If it was a pure anatomical not knowing thing, I get that, but I also think that leads to the question of “then why the male body for porn, and not your own? The one you know and are familiar with?”

I know some people want to get outside of their own body for porn and don’t want to think of their own anatomy at all, but overall I'm still uncomfortable. If an anglo said “well I watch porn of only Mexicans so I don't self insert” I'm gonna be like … hhhh in a similar way. I understand people “like what they like” but I wish they also noticed said patterns in the first place. I understand the t4t tumblr porn circle, and how it's different from cis people who only watch trans porn.

I actually wished that instead of fandom focusing on mlm ships where some asshole guy hits on bottom troupe charcter for top troupe character to save, was instead… a wlw character experiencing said shitty getting hit on and other wlw swooping in. what's interesting is fandom writes a lot about misogynistic experiences without often realizing it. Ive read fanfic where guys get called sluts for sleeping with people or called bitch for speaking their mind, these arent things men usually experience, but rather women. Fandom has a lot of internalized misogyny and also queerphobia imo. Women characters often get pushed to the sidelines and men become the canvas for female fans to project onto.

There is this natural inclination to mlm. When people are talking about “gay shipping” or “gay books” or “gay feels” or even just “gay” mlm is what’s largely in mind. I honestly am kinda saddened by this because if gay fanfiction was really solely about writing more to feel represented, then you would see a lot of bi and ace and lesbian rep, but this isn't the case. Queer women are seriously underrepresented, and I want to hear their stories and read them in fanfiction as well as published. 50% of lgbt literature is mlm, and of that its largely written by women. Becky Albertalli, Rainbow Rowell, Maggie Stiefvater, are the YA big names and are all women writing mlm. Red white and royal blue is written by Casey McQuiston and Captive prince (which is not YA) is written by C. S. Pacat, who is non-binary, but is also TME and not mlm. These are all the big names in mlm lit, behind them is some gay men, but honestly their stories aren't preferred, they're not the right “flavor” for the consumers usually, who are largely women. In general YA consumers and authors are women, but I wish that they… just wrote about women too. I think there is a certain… snowball effect to the overrepresentation of mlm representing the whole LGBT community that leads to fetishization, as well as misogyny playing a factor in: less women characters being written well to write fanfic on, when they are written well they're taken less seriously or the audience struggles to relate to them, they're less marketable then men.

Idk I never feel “seen” or “represented” by any of the books above, which don't address boyhood and manhood and queerness intersecting really, and AFTG doesn’t either. I relate to AFTG as a trauma victim who has experienced a lot of what many of the characters go through and have gone through in the EC as well as them just overall being very well written characters, but I don't relate to it as a mlm really. I've never seen like.. gay voice or being straight passing or femphobia or how boyhood can be affected from a young age by those around you sensing you're ‘other’ or if you didn't experience this you feel outside the mlm community. Let alone sub cultures like bear and leather and pup, at most you see the word “he's such a twink” in fandom which... i fr hate non mlm using that word because it's usually used to replace the f-slur essentially, used derogatorily or to call him “such a bottom” and stuff like that. It’s like a joke or an insult.

Long story short, idk mang this was a ramble and I think I'm coning down with something. I wanna see more queer women rep and women authors writing about being a queer woman too. I think it's a complex web of fetishization and a bit of forbidden love yaoi culture (or it used to be in the BOYXBOY days) as well as misogyny on an industry level, creator level, as well as reader/consumer and fandom level. I don’t think it’s inherently wrong to explore other peoples stories and what we read has to be segregated, “only mlm are allowed to read and write mlm, only wlw are allowed to read and write wlw,” but I also think author’s intent and audience and background is telling, as well as overall statistics. Like about an hour ago I was looking for cookbooks in spanish or in english, and I was looking for some mexican food cook books, but I had to look for them using words in spanish because otherwise what came up was a bunch of “fiesta party, easy as uno dos tres authentic cooking!” and I was like… hm. Since I could tell they were marketing to anglos. (also the author’s last names were like michelle smith, james cooper, and this could be for a variety of reasons, but I trust Hispanic names more tbh and deadass would look at the authors pictures and if they had other books in Spanish or what their specialties were.)

anyways. not sure how to end this. uhm if anyone has any book recs (my to read list is like 500 books tho no joke) preferably not YA white mlm written by a white lady, hopefully queer women written by queer woman, LMK, I need more wlw and queer women stories on my list. I have a decent amount but always looking for more. I kinda wanna link my goodreads or my storygraph but I also don't want to get doxxed and it has my legal name on it so.

Ghostbur headcannon time bc I'm soft and living in that feeling I get when I talk to men that I feel safe around

He has a heart on his poncho (he always wears it for many reasons). It gets fuller with darker blues the more sad he gets or the more bad memories he is reminded of. I feel like only people he trusts (consciously or unconsciously) can see the heart and those ppl would totally be tommy tubbo fundy and phil.

His stab wound from philza killing him is permanently blue and is actually hollow, there is blue staining the area like blood. But hes not actually injured anymore per se, just the scar. Cannonically ghostbur remembers that Phil killed him so he has a clue why he has this mark. He uses the poncho to cover it up bc he thinks its gross and people wouldnt like him if they saw it.

Side headcannon that wasnt on the picture: his scar stings (like the feeling he gets when hes in water but not actually melting him) when hes around philza and his heart fills up 20% easier/faster when hes around philza.

Bleeds and cries blue, cries blue to release the blue that builds up in his heart. He jars this because when it's not in contact with him, it turns clear. But that takes a while so he has a cellar full of jars with various levels of blue. Once it turns clear he begins to give it out to his friends when he thinks they need it.

The cellar has a really heavy vibe and it makes most characters cry heavily the moment they enter the room, sans maybe one or two that either have no emotions lmao or they just arent affected the same way as normal ppl are to blue.

Philza and Fundy found the cellar first and were both found by Ghostbur. They had to sleep for a day because the room drained a lot of energy from them. Bur was mad they didnt respect his privacy but he was more sad because they got drained by the blue room.

The poncho! It was made by Fundy and gifted to his dad while Wilbur was still... a good dad...

Wilbur put it away and didnt wear it a lot because Fundy didnt like seeing his shitty dad wear smthn he made for a dad he respected. It got torn up and moth eaten in storage but it was the first thing ghostbur remembered when he woke up as a ghost. Fundy hated him for wearing it and how torn up it was but he (begrudgingly after a lot of begging from ghost) teaches ghost to sew. Ghost gets really happy and slowly begins to sew up the holes.

Headcannon that ghostbur gets all his friends pendants with blue in the capsule, he flies around when they sleep and takes out the blue when it gets dark blue and puts in clear blue. Like he tells them sleeping heals mental wounds.

Idk I love the idea of soft caretaker ghostbur bc he just wants people to be happy and cared for no matter their sides or backstories.

He writes stories and reads them to the others when they're asleep but sometimes they fake sleep because they find it comforting to hear Ghostbur tell stories. Fundy was absolutely the first one to find out about this, because he felt cool air on his fur and woke up to Ghostbur quietly and happily reading a story he wrote about his happy memories with Sally-

Fundy hated it at first, taking it as "oh my deadbeat dad is just trying to suck up to me now" but soon he found himself laying half awake at night while he listens to Ghostbur telling stories he wrote or heard.

Tommy and tubbo are both told stories about the other and they find it really comforting being reminded of their best friend. It helps tommy get through dreams manipulation because his mindset turns to "well if real tubbo doesn't care about me anymore... at least I have those stories" and he asks ghost to tell him a certain few stories (really good memories of all three of them that ghost remembers) that make him really happy. He sleeps peacefully holding his compass.

Bonus: ghost learns how to sew and makes tommy a tubbo doll and tommy hates it but then he gives in and pretends tubbodoll is his real friend. Honestly real lowkey insane bc of solitary tommy vibes. Tommy tells tubbodoll what he did every day and he holds him when he sleeps at night to keep himself anchored to his tubbo so he doesnt get sucked into dreams tormenting.

Tubbo gets a tommy plushy !! He hugs him every night before he sleeps and talks to him about random every day things. Talks to him while hes alone in his room doing business stuff. Cute.

Both the dolls have mini blue pendants bc it helps suck in the sad from the people. Ghost makes sure to clean out the pendants every night!

Aaaa I have so many random headcannons that would be so cute in a fanfic but I'm not very good at writing. Tell me what you think! I know a lot of these would probably conflict with the cannon but let me have my little comfort mans

Now this took a dark turn (puntentional, sue me.), he did not expect you to look like a cutefied and female version of his soldiers.

Makes him believe all the more that you are a token of war and his lucky charm. That brass knuckle belt buckle better be as functional as it looks, because he will expect you to use it.

Those knives are definitely worth to be examined. He likes to collect his fair share of swords and knives himself! Though he will definitely be frowning at the quality of the blade, their weight and how they wield.

Amuse him enough and he will give you a decorative knife of better quality.

Hideyoshi Toyotomi

Concerned noises escape him as his inner mother hen comes out. Decorative knives? Brass knuckle belt buckle? And are those spikes?

Definitely worries about the safety of your fashion. What if you hurt yourself with it? Or accidentally hurt his beloved lord? Where Nobunaga is amused Hideyoshi will try to keep you away from his lord.

Will definitely try to tell you to leave your accessoires at home, how can those still be considered jewellery? What kind of crude place did you grow up in?

Also wonders why you are dressed all in black. It is ominous and unneeded. Will definitely be suspicious of you for a long while to come.

Ieyasu Tokugawa

Is fascinated by your fashion, but for reasons different than you might guess. No, he finds it fascinating how your fashion is very practical in keeping people away, especially the spikes.

Prickly personality, prickly appearance, Ieyasu likes the thought of that. Perhaps that will teach the likes of Mitsunari to finally keep away from him.

The thigh highs he finds questionable, however. If you are concerned about the cold why not just wear something longer? And though your combat shoes are very sturdy and mean looking they aren’t exactly easy slip on and offs, which is important in this era where you don’t wear shoes inside, but where you are expected to rush outside for an attack.

Might adopt the spikes in his own fashion, though he will soon find that they get in the way with his everyday life.

Mitsuhide Akechi

Wonders what sort of environment you grew up in to require dressing yourself like that.

Dressed so visibly armed Mitsuhide really only can think of constant conflict and war, which makes him a little sad.

When he figures out it is just aesthetics he wonders how that works. Why would anyone willingly dress themselves like they could harm themselves or others?

All in all, Mitsuhide doesn’t understand and he doesn’t think he wants to understand it either. Cue, his lost interest in the modern era ever since he heard Sasuke talk.

Masamune Date

He digs it. It looks cool, it looks dangerous, he smells danger and adventure coming off that brass knuckle belt buckle.

Though he still prefers his sword, he can appreciate knives. Those are some pretty knives, but only meant for decoration. “It is a shame that the blades are of such poor quality, lass,” he tells you.

At least he knows that he doesn’t have to worry about you too much. Granted that you know how to use them. He will sharpen your knives first, however.

Will maybe also offer to sharpen those spikes and the brass knuckle, though ultimately he also doesn’t want you to get hurt if you happen to be clumsy.

Mitsunari Ishida

The strategist doesn’t see much sense in your aesthetics. There isn’t much diplomacy to be had in your dress, only fight.

And even then it isn’t a good armour or does it make for good weaponry.

He can think of a few styles in which it does come handy, but he doesn’t really enjoy the thought of getting you so near the fire.

Maybe it is a family crest? A rather crude one, he believes, as most family crests are inspired by philosophy, but he can get along with it.

Ranmaru Mori

He is wary of you and your style. What are you trying to display? Whatever it is, he doesn’t like it.

Wonders if it is never heavy to wear all of that. He definitely gets tired having to look at you.

Oh, wow, this is a surprising look for a goddess. Rather, prickly?

Will admonish Yuki for calling you names. No, we don’t speak to anyone in that way.

Though he will give you a good look or two out of curiosity. Those spikes are intriguing.

Again, disappointed in your decorative knives. The quality of the blade is just not where it is at.

Kenshin Uesugi

Fascinated. Beyond fascinated. It looks like you’re ready to throw down a brawl 24/7. And Kenshin is here for that.

Will probably be the first amongst many to figure out how harmless your fashion is because he actually did try to manhandle you.

“What are those blades? Blunt and crude.” - Kenshin when he snaps your decorative knives in half.

He started impressed and then was disappointed when they didn’t serve a real fight. Will find you something better.

Sasuke Sarutobi

Probably ordered by Kenshin to get you some real spikes for wear and better knives.

Otherwise, again he is from the 21st century, he isn’t fazed. He has seen his fair share of trends and styles.

However, he also knows how you will stand out in the sengoku era, after all, you already do in the modern era.

With the constant warring people are, in general, hostile. Sasuke worries that the people you meet will see your dress as a blatant provocation.

Yoshimoto Imagawa

His weapon of choice is a fan. I think we can deduce from there that he loves subtlety and grace.

He sees your brass knuckle belt buckle, he sees your spikes and he scowls as if he saw Motonari.

With that I mean to say: he doesn’t like what he sees and he doesn’t like the style. It is crude and more of those ‘ugly’ words he so rarely uses.

If you approach him dressed like that you will find no friend in him, I feel that he is rather quick to judge in that. Though he can and will hold a civil conversation for the sake of pleasantries.

Kennyo

Like mentioned before, he thinks you’re a porcupine the first time he reads a report. Spikes, what?

But when he sees you he understands what his young spy was describing, and is he in for a surprise.

Spikes as in actual spikes? As in what Sasuke throws down at times? What? Kennyo doesn’t understand why one would wear that.

“Don’t you ever hurt yourself with those?” he questions you cautiously. Though he does wonder what sort of wicked soul designed these.

Motonari Mouri

He thinks of durians the first time he sees your spikes. Travelled as he is, he has seen the exotic fruit once or twice.

Prickly outer shell, but sweet inside? Like a durian, though you are sure to smell a lot better than the fruit.

He wonders if your hometown has durians as well, seeing as you are dressed like a dark version of one.

I see there's a bit of a fuss over the TV Guide cover. What do you think? Personally I'd prefer the focus always remain on the show's two mainstays - and let's be clear, that's Sam and Dean, cuz I know someone reading this will go "but Cas" - yet people are trashing Dabb (again/still) and disregarding the awesome stuff we've had these past few seasons. Maybe I'm a philistine, but I've never seen this "terrible, horrible, no good very bad show" folks are on about. Care to enlighten me?

Hiya nonnie!! Yeah, people enjoy bitching evidently. I too want the focus to be on Sam and Dean but Im not offended by the SDCC TV Guide cover, it IS the last season and the only SDCC Alex has been, or will be at and he’s been a big part of the show since s13.

People here have been acting like the bros have never shared ad space with anyone until now, but Cas has infiltrated posters and merc since s8 and Crowley did too since S9, its hard to find any merc between s9 and 12 that didnt have all 4 of them on it.

Theres no reason on God’s green earth to hate on Dabb. He literally killed Destiew, he took the brothers from fighting and trying to leave each other for 11 years to working out their arguments and fighting to keep each other alive! If people want that Kripke relationship that had Dean supporting Sam in being possessed by Satan and throwing himself into Hell for eternity, over Sam refusing to allow Dean to throw himself into the ocean with Michael to save the world, then they can have it. That’s not any deep abiding love Ive ever heard of. Damn I wouldnt let my worst enemy take in Lucifer and throw themselves into Hell, let alone someone Im suppose to love.

Im more than convinced most of these people havent watched a full episode in years. Maybe some turn the TV on, but theyre watching Twitter and Tumblr and not the show apparently. Thinking they get the “important parts” from live bloggers and gif sets. Theyre not.

As for s15, Im confident that its going to be great. Why?? Because TPTB INVITED,,, let me say that louder for whiners in the back INVITED J2 (not Dmitri and Alex) to come out and give their input. If they werent interested in what they want, and interested in giving it to them, they wouldnt have INVITED them out.

Am I bitter? Yes, yes I am... these assholes bullied J2 into wrapping it up because they dont know how to change the fucking channel! Now, those of us who love these guys, only have 20 more episodes and thats all. The writers these entitled little shits complain about are all gonna have much better jobs this time next year, and J2 will just be around for a few cons and thats it. Quite the accomplishment huh? I bet they cant wait to sit around with their grandkids and tell them how they helped get rid of a TV show that millions enjoyed, and the 2 nicest men in Hollywood put their hearts and souls into for 15 years, because they hate the fact that the stars arent chasing Wendigos anymore. why vriska isn't bad

this is a late night discovery that I made while looking at the Hemospectrum wiki to see what blood color The Flash would be, when I saw something that opened my third eye. (this is long so I'm putting it under the cut, if you want to know why some people stan vriska, or if you stan vriska and want validation or a more in-depth explanation of why shes likable; read this)

okay so, I never understood why there were vriska stans, I always thought her excuses where stupid. bc it mostly was “I'm forced to do this because of the culture I was raised in”(my counterpoint was always, other trolls lived in the same society and they didn't go out of their way to kill anyone), and how she “regrets every harm she's done” (but in a way that pities herself rather than the victim), and I felt bad that she ended up being moirails with Terezi bc I thought Terezi deserves better. we all know that trolls have different physical characteristics depending on where there are on the blood spectrum: “Trolls lower on the hemospectrum are more likely to have psychic powers, but are more psychically susceptible as a result. On the other hand, trolls higher on the hemospectrum seem to be physically stronger. Some castes have further distinct physical differences.“ -from the wiki page about Hemospectrum. everything here is based of the wiki.

but reading more i found that the differences arent only physical: “Equius remarks that Gamzee has the highest blood possible for a landdweller and is as such more prone to violence and murder than the rest of them, and that he dreads to think what he would be without the pacifying influence of his moirail. This implies that trolls gradually become more violent the higher they are on the hemospectrum and is mostly in line with the twelve trolls followed in Hivebent. The only exception seems to be Feferi, who, despite being at the very top of the hemospectrum, displays no negative tendencies, although she might only be suppressing them by force of will, since she was screaming while attacking an imp here.”

the higher the trolls are the more violent they are, which everyone already kinda knew, but it's not because of the culture, its biological. “ On a possibly related note, Aradia starts displaying more violent behavior after entering her blue blood-fueled Soulbot. “ even Aradia started to be violent when she was powered by blue blood, which shows that the higher the blood color, the more aggressive the troll becomes, no matter what culture they were raised in.

that leads me to my next point, “other trolls lived in the same society and they didn't go out of their way to kill anyone”. low bloods aren't aggressive in their nature, so they wouldnt want to go and kill random ppl unless its necessary. so we cant compare their actions to vriskas. but the trolls that are higher than her; Equius, Gamzee, Eridan, and Feferi. still didn't do as much harm as her. which leads to the greatest point of all, explained by Equius: “ Equius remarks that Gamzee has the highest blood possible for a landdweller and is as such more prone to violence and murder than the rest of them, and that he dreads to think what he would be without the pacifying influence of his moirail.”

he implies that friendship holds high bloods back from harming others. Equius had Nepeta, who was a stronger moirail then any US marine, and Equius never harmed anyone. Gamzee had Karkat, and only killed when he was mind controlled by cal. Edrian and Feferi had each other, but Feferi also had other trolls in quadrants, such as Sollux, which was the only reason Edrian killed (bc he lost his moirail/crush).

Vriska didn't have moirail, she didn't have relationships that lasted or were healthy, and most were kissmesis or Auspisticism who were unbalanced or onesided. she didn't have anyone she cared for, anyone she was willing to change for. but we do see that she could have changed, could be more passive for her significant other (pale or red). where do we see that?

when vriska finally got someone who cares about her and she cares about them, she completely changed. this version of vriska is actually one of my favorite characters in the comic. she was finally happy, she learned peace ;-;.

the only thing a high blood needs, is a significent other, pale/red (don't know about kissmesis and the other one, haven't seen much evidence towards it helping). and virska got it in the end, when she forms scourge sisters with terezi. she was toxic yea, but all highbloods are toxic, but they get help, they form healthy relationships. and so did she, terezi needed her as much as vriska needed her. without each other their life was hell. I thought vriska didn't deserve terezi, that terezi needed someone whos a good person to be friends with, that I forgot the raw power of friendship that this comic radiates. by becoming friends, vriska and terezi changed for the better, learning to love themselves and be happy.

vriska is a flawed person, who did a lot of bad things. she was born with natural aggression and temper, hating herself and acting like shes the best to hide it. she was angry that she was aggressive, blaming her biology. which a lot of people irl do or experience, being raised in a bad place/way and developing a temper, and not being able to control it later in life. or hating yourself and feeling you are a bad person, acting superior to hide it. and in general, being a flawed person in their youth. seeing vriska brings back that self-hatred, she reminds people of a worse version of themselves that everyone has. but she changed, she got help, she found friends and a place where she belongs. she proved she is more than her temper. she is a person. people who dislike vriska see her past acts as unforgivable. people who like her see hope in change.

this is a tribute to @starship-one , whos constant stanning of vriska made me look into why that would be.

this may not be accurate for every vriska stan, maybe u like her just bc shes a pirate. but if your a ‘vriska did nothing wrong’ stan then this is more for you. im not sure how accurate it is about why ppl like her, but it is quite accurate (if i do say so myself) about why vriska cant be blamed for her actions. its like comparing a feral cat to a house cat, saying that one is better then the other. even when the feral cat got adopted and became nicer, but still kept its feral tendencies. where was I going with this metaphor? anyways the post is already done, shoo, why are you still here.
