Had a dream and now I can't stop thinking about the lack of submissive Raphael out there. Everyone talks about Haarlep’s "he's a bottom" line but I've never seen anyone mention their "Archduchess Raphael" line, which to me heavily implies that Raphael likes to be submissive in bed.

Ok I just came up with a fun solution for a problem I had in my bg3 fic and I want to share with the class in case anyone else has the same problem.
So instead of using only a safeword, I want to eventually switch to the traffic light system. Problem is, what do you call the traffic light system in a world that has no traffic lights?
Solution: Traffic's Light System. It was invented by a wizard named Traffic who used spells to create light shining in different colors, signaling to their partner what their status was. Since not everyone can cast spells that easily, people who adopted this system simply said the color out loud.

Here's my take on Haarlep's true form
(+ some thoughts on how incubi and succubi are used in the hells)
So, there isn't a lot of info on the appearance of incubi and succubi (which I'm gonna shorten to "cubi") in DnD, but from what I could find they generally have small horns, red hair and wings and tend to have human skin tones.
This makes sense to me because they're supposed to seduce mortals, so they appear less demonic/devilish than the average demon/devil. (Sidenote: There are demonic and infernal cubi with some differences in behaviour, but not appearance afaik)
My headcanon is that Haarlep is from a line of infernal cubi that have been bred in Cania to better suit the tastes of devils, mostly meant to be given out as gifts. For that reason their horns are a bit larger and their teeth sharper than the average cubi. They have dark black-blue hair and blue wings, which is also uncommon of cubi but has become sort of a trademark of Canian-bred cubi.
When sending a cubi to their new owner it's customary that they do not wear make-up, jewellery or anything else that might change their appearance. They also wear little to no clothing and have to appear in their true form, no shape-shifting allowed. This way, the recipient will see exactly what they get. Not picking out a cubus that the recipient will find attractive is considered an insult, as it shows that the sender didn't care enough to find out what the receiver likes.

Haarlep's pronouns
I recently went through some of the datamined files and since I've seen some people confused about which pronouns Haarlep uses, I thought I'd compile some examples.
TL;DR: The narrator uses they/he/she pronouns for Haarlep, mostly based on which appearance the player asks Haarlep to take on. I think it's safe to assume that Haarlep is comfortable with any pronouns :)

So, Pretty Little Pet is still on hiatus, but I wanted to share and excerpt from the next chapter, which I'd started writing before I went on break. Just keep in mind that this isn't edited yet and will likely change a bit in the final version :)

When Mio entered the boudoir he spotted the incubus immediately, sunk to the neck in the steaming pool, hand curled around the [end of a hookah] and head resting on a pile of towels.
“Hey Haarlep,” Mio greeted them and they looked up at his voice, a smile curling their lips.
“The forbidden treat has entered my lair. Care to join me? I promise I won’t bite, unless you tempt me,” they said with a grin, showing off their sharp teeth.
“Sure, I could go for a bath,” Mio agreed, undressed and slipped into the hot water, making sure to sit a good distance away from Haarlep, so they wouldn’t be able to touch by accident.
“Hookah?” Haarlep offered, knowing full well how close Mio would have to get to them to take the [pipe].
“No, thank you,” Mio just said. “Haarlep, do you think Raphael might be… mad with me? Has he said anything to you?”
Haarlep laughed. “If Raphael was mad with you, you’d be first to know about it, believe me. He’s not really the type to let one suffer quietly. I haven't spoken with him for a while, he’s been out of the house and hasn’t called on me while he’s been gone. Must be terribly busy with one of his schemes.”
“He’s gone? For how long?” Mio asked, surprised.
“No idea. He’s been out for over a tenday now, so I expect he’ll return soon, at least to check on things, make sure the mice haven’t gotten too comfortable while the cat's away.” Haarlep took a huff, blowing clouds into the air. “You can tell when he isn’t home, you know? The wailing of the tortured souls takes on a distinct note. I’m sure you’ll be able to tell the difference in time.”
“Could you tell me when he’s back?” Mio asked.
“What am I, your errand boy? And why do you fear that Raphael is mad with you anyway? Have you done something naughty?” Haarlep asked with a mischievous grin.
“No, of course not! I was just… I thought he didn’t want to see me anymore. But I didn’t know he just wasn’t home, so it’s fine, I guess. I probably shouldn’t bother him as soon as he comes back anyway.” Mio mumbled that last part, slipping deeper into the water.
“Aww, you really are a pet, crying at home, thinking it's been abandoned by the master when he just left the house to go to work,” Haarlep mocked Mio and laughed.
“I’m not crying,” Mio threw Haarlep a glare. “It’s not my fault that I don’t know he regularly leaves for such long times without telling anyone. I’m not used to that. Or having so much free time that I can actually get bored with reading and magic.”
“Well, you are in luck with that, because I’m an expert in not getting bored with too much time on your hands. Tell me, do you know how to play lanceboard?”
“I know the game, but not the rules.”
“Then I will be happy to teach you,” Haarlep said and rose out of the water to get the board.

Below the cut is the first draft of the last scene in this chapter, because I ended up changing a lot and thought some might like to see the difference. Make sure to read the chapter first!
“Seeing that expression on Cordelia’s face was worth sitting around for hours. I never liked that con artist, she tends to use cheap tricks to gain souls and the higher ups let her get away with it too often. She deserved a bit of humiliation.” Raphael said.
They were in the sitting room, Mio had removed what was left of his top and sat sideways on Raphael’s lap, leaning against his chest.
“How are you feeling, pet? How painful is your injury?” Raphael asked him.
“I’m fine. It only hurts when I press into the bruise.” Mio assured him with a smile. He was glad the incident had given Raphael the opportunity to have some fun.
Raphael pressed a clawed finger into the bruise and Mio hissed in pain. “I think I know what your punishment will be.” Raphael said.
He unlatched the leather collar from around Mio’s neck and removed the D-Ring along with the ring that had held the fabric of the top. Then he wrapped the collar around Mio’s arm and fastened it, tight enough to make Mio whimper but not so tight that it would restrict his blood flow.
“That seems fair doesn’t it?” Raphael asked and Mio nodded. “I will take it off in a day or two. A shame about the top, it looked very good on you. You can keep the rest of your clothes, if you like.”
“Yes, thank you. I like the pants, they make my butt look nice.”
“They do indeed.” Raphael said with a chuckle and grabbed at Mio’s ass, making him squeak. Raphael rubbed his hand up and down Mio’s thigh, leaning in for a kiss, which Mio gladly returned.
After making out for a few minutes Raphael drew back and asked: “Do you want to move this to the bedroom?”
Mio hesitated. He wasn’t really tired after having napped so much during the meeting but he felt kind of exhausted. He wasn’t sure if he had the energy to please Raphael in the bedroom right now but he also didn’t want to say no to him.
“Yeah, sure.” he replied to Raphael and made to stand up but Raphael pulled him back into his lap. Confused, Mio looked at him.
“It’s alright if you’re not up for sex right now, pet. I want this to be enjoyable for you too and I promise I won’t be disappointed if you say no. Besides, I have an incubus around here that needs to earn their keep. It’s not as much fun as with you but I’ve managed with just Haarlep before I got you and they’re always up for a quick toss in the sheets.” Raphael explained while gently stroking his hair.
Mio chewed on his lip for a moment. “I am a bit exhausted.” he admitted.
“That’s understandable, after the day you had.” Raphael said. “You did very well, by the way, staying quiet through the entire meeting. I could tell how difficult it was for you. I noticed how much you enjoyed my claws on your back and my hand in your hair. Remind me to do that again, next time I pet you.” Mio nodded enthusiastically, excited at the prospect.
“Why don’t you take a nice bath in the boudoir to relax? You deserve it. I will see you tomorrow, my pretty little pet.” Raphael gave Mio a kiss on the forehead and gently pushed up, off his lap.
“See you tomorrow.” Mio said to Raphael with a smile and headed off to the boudoir.

Dunno if I'm the outlier here but I'm a lot less likely to reblog a fic if it isn't under a read-more. Sure, put the first paragraph before the read-more to get people hooked, but the majority should be under. I know not all of my followers want to read fic and I don't want to put something on their dash that takes a minute to scroll past, especially on mobile. Hell, if I see a fic in a tag that I'm not interested in reading, making me scroll past 5k+ of words only makes me tempted to block that person so I never have to do that again
