Hongjoong Unique Nicknames

In writing an earlier post, I came to the conclusion that, out of all the members of ATEEZ, Hongjoong would be the most likely to look up/find nicknames in other languages to call his s/o because he would want the nickname to be unique. This mans doesn't want to call his partner something common or generic (or simple)!

I can see him falling reeeeeally hard when he finds 'the one' and to him they are ethereal, stunning, unique, one-of-a-kind (no1likethem😤) and he would want to address them as such.

Sooooo, struck with inspiration, I wanted to make a post of some pet names in other languages (masc. and fem.) that I could see him calling his s/o 💖

(My personal favorites/the names I can most see him using will be starred ✨ sparkled? )

~ If my translations or pronunciations are wrong/weird/wonky I apologize, I'm using a number of different sources here including google translate 😅 nicknames below the cut ♥️ ~

~One more side note: it's easier to find nicknames in some languages as opposed to others and I'm also more familiar/proficient in certain languages so I'm sorry if there are fewer nicknames for certain languages! I'm trying to get a wide range of languages on here and I love learning new things, so if you know of additional nicknames in other/your languages leave a comment! I know it can also be a cultural thing: finding cute nicknames in Romance languages (ex. French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese) is much easier than finding nicknames in Germanic languages (ex. German, Swiss, Dutch) simply because of the cultures ~

First of all...treasure. Treasure is a common pet name all over the world so there's no shortage of variations to choose from. And like...COME ON! It just fits so well! A Captain needs his treasure 😍.

jiwoong decided to bring over one of his friend's who you weren't a huge fan of, they were often rude to you and didn't bother to speak to you whenever they visited. but today you got even more pissed when they kept clinging onto jiwoong as if he was their boyfriend, worst was that jiwoong did absolutely nothing to stop them!

you could only sigh as you watched on. seeing how close they were really made you feel jealous when you were aware that jiwoong only loved you.

your heart couldn't handle the hurt inside, especially since jiwoong barely paid attention to you despite asking you to come over that day. in the end, your inside feelings won you over and you decided to leave early than you were planning on.

"babe? i'm leaving." you abruptly announced, rushing to the front door to put your shoes on

jiwoong quickly ran over, "why? did something happen?" he asked in a concerned tone. you tried to play it off like you weren't jealous a minute ago.

"oh nothing happened, i have something to do." it seemed to work and jiwoong kissed you goodbye. just as you shut his apartment door, you suddenly felt your heart ache

fast forward a few hours later, you were in your bedroom when you suddenly got a call from your boyfriend. you were hesitant to answer but nonetheless swiped to accept the call

"hello?" you heard shuffling on the other end

"babe be honest with me, you left because of my friend right?"

"how did you expect me to feel when they were all over you? the worst was that you didn't even stop them and let them touch you like that.." your voice cracked at the end

he sighed, "you know i don't love them like that. you are always the person that i love and want to be with. i'm sorry for not paying attention to you and your feelings. please forgive me (name). i love you."

you were able to find a day that accommodated the both of you despite hao's schedule as a member of zb1 and took that day to go shopping together and just spend time together as a couple

well that was what you were expecting to happen until one of hao's friend was also at the mall. his friend spoke mandarin so you had no idea what they were talking about

"hao? it's been so long!" they exclaimed. hao seemed surprised and greeted them

"it really has! how come your in seoul?" and before you knew it they began conversing in mandarin leaving you confused on what else that they were saying

hao then turned to face you, "babe, is it ok if i hang out with them? it's been a while since i've seen them and i want to catch up."

it would be a lie to say that you were happy with this, but even still you allowed him and they left together

all your planning went to waste as it was thrown away that quickly. you were so thrilled to meet up with your boyfriend and find a date that both of you were free on. you knew it would be even more harder to find another day since he had a comeback and a tour approaching

you shut off your phone for the day and headed home on the bus with mixed emotions, mostly jealousy

at around night time you were sitting in your living room when the doorbell suddenly rang, you were surprised that someone was here this late but when you opened it, it was hao!

"uh, hi?" he showed you his recent calls that you missed

"i called you four times today, how come you didn't pick up?" his voice sounding very firm

"oh i thought that you were busy with your friend.." you didn't even mean to say that but it slipped out, hao raised his brow at this

"what?" you shrugged replying, "i don't know. i was excited to hang out with you today knowing it'll be hard to do this again only for you to leave me stranded to hang out with someone else."

hao's frown slowly disappeared as he cupped your cheeks, kissing you gently. "i'm sorry baby. i didn't know you were this hurt over the situation. i promise we can find another day to meet up, i'll make it up to you."

sung hanbin

you decided to stop by the wakeone building to deliver the food you brought for the members after a long day of practice that burnt out the boys

hanbin had also personally asked for you to visit since he missed you, and of course you listened and did exactly that!

you were holding two bags of food in your hand and headed up to the practice room

just as you opened the door, everyone gasped at the food and ran towards you, hanbin being especially excited to see you more than the food

"you guys must've been hungry..." you said, watching as everyone stuffed their faces with the food you bought. gyuvin nodded, "yeah we barely had anything today!"

you then felt a hand touch your shoulder, as you turned to your side, hanbin was right there

"thank you love." he said, pecking your temple.

"of course! you all deserve it after working so hard!"

as they finished eating, they returned to practicing again. you were about to leave when hanbin stopped you at the door

"don't go yet!" he pouted, "at least watch our new choreography!"

you couldn't resist your hamcat boyfriend and decided to stay for a little longer than planned

but what you weren't expecting was a backup dancer that arrived. the music played and one of hanbin's part involved a solo dance with them. his hands were all over them and you could only watch in shock

it was as if you paused in real life, did you actually witness that? you couldn't help but feel jealousy seeping through you

as the music finished, everyone gave hanbin and the dancer compliments and cheers. hanbin then approached you where you were feeling less cheerful than before

"hey what's wrong?" he asked. you shook your head, "nothing. it's just...i wasn't expecting your solo dance to be with someone else."

he then chuckled, showing off his cat whiskers, "don't worry babe. it's just a dance. i don't have any actual feelings for them when i have you."

seok matthew

you've been noticing that matthew has been in the wakeone building more often than usual. he would usually be able to hang out with you but it had been nearly three weeks since you last saw each other

you didn't think you did anything wrong so you were puzzled as to why matthew hadn't proposed a date to go on. you've also been noticing that matthew was sending you lots of voice chats of him singing, sharing how well he was doing

so one day you decided to reach out to one of his members and see what was going on

the contact you called the most was taerae, matthew's 02 friend. you pressed the call button and waited

about 5 seconds later, taerae picked up and gave you a cheerful hello

"hey taerae! i was just wondering, what has matthew been up to recently?"

"matthew? i thought you would know since you two are dating."

"yeah but the past few weeks he's barely texted me and when he does their just voice chats sharing some songs he sang." you heard taerae chuckling on the other end

"oh he must've done that after meeting with that new vocal trainer." new vocal trainer?!

"huh?" taerae once again laughed, "he didn't tell you? he hired his own vocal trainer, they've apparently worked with huge artists."

you understood that it was his job to sing but he wasn't meeting up because of this? you didn't know why but your heart starting beating quickly, worried over matthew losing interest in you

"oh...okay. thanks for telling me taerae." you hung up.

the next hour you got a call from matthew, you were thrilled but still side eyeing him

"hey matt." you said, he noticed your lack of enthusiasm right away. "what's wrong?"

you sighed, "i heard you were getting trained by a new vocal trainer, is that why you've haven't asked to go on any dates?"

"i know and i'm sorry we haven't honey. i'll cancel my training tomorrow to make time for you. your always my first priority and i'm sorry for neglecting you."

kim taerae

you and taerae were walking in the park together, promotions had just wrapped up and the first he thing was call you to ask if you wanted to meet up, of course you agreed!

he was telling you about all the new friends he recently made while at the music shows, it made you proud to see taerae living out his long time dream of becoming a singer

but just as you were about to speak, someone else called out taerae's name from afar

you noticed that taerae smiled at his name being called. his cute dimples popping out right away

"taerae! it's such a coincidence that were both at the park!" the person exclaimed, taerae giggled, "right?"

as they continued talking, you felt as if you were absent since he didn't even say anything to you, it wasn't until you introduced yourself as taerae's partner that the person acknowledged your existence

"oh. hi." was all they said to you before returning to their conversation with taerae

and after that it became a date with those two with you as the third wheel, just trailing behind them as if this wasn't your date with taerae

taerae seemed really happy to talk with them so you didn't want to barge into their conversation, but it still hurt you how taerae was ignoring you

you couldn't take it anymore and tapped your boyfriend's shoulder. he turned and faced you

"i'm heading home, something urgent happened to my sister." you lied, taerae tried to stop you but you were already far gone

you began walking to the nearby station to head home. just as you were about to enter the train, you heard someone shouting at you from behind

"(name)! (name)!" you could immediately recognize the voice to be taerae's. you were hesitant to speak to him

"please don't go, i know nothing happened to your sister. i'm sorry for ignoring you, i admit it's my fault." he said

"i understand that taerae but you barely spoke to me after your friend noticed you. i was really looking forward to spend some time together."

"i know, please tell me whatever i can do make up for this. i love you so much, i can't imagine a life without you."

shen ricky

you were hanging out at the dorms with the members, ricky had invited you since he wanted you to be there as they were going to watch that reality show you've been telling him all about

the lights dimmed and the show played on the screen, everyone was coddled up in blankets with you cuddled up next to ricky

but you noticed that ricky's phone would continuously brighten as he received a notification on wechat. you didn't think too much of it at first but it got to the point where every second it would occur

even gyuvin began to yell at ricky to get his phone or leave it in his shared bedroom

eventually ricky checked it, a smile tugged at his lips reading the notification

curiousity got the best of you as you couldn't even focus on the show playing, your mind filled with thoughts of the worst. you knew ricky would never do anything like cheating but your naturally an overthinker

just then, ricky got up to pick up a call. making the members sigh in relief that they wouldn't have to deal with the notifications during the show

instead of staying in your spot you went to investigate and caught ricky speaking to someone in mandarin. you heard him chuckling and pacing around his dorm room

but before you could return to your spot, the door swung open and you were met with a confused ricky

"what are you doing here?" he asked

"who were you speaking to?" you replied, completely ignoring his question

"oh it was just a friend! they arrived back to shanghai and wanted me to know."

you were still unsure, "but they were texting you a lot when we were watching the show."

"they were telling me every detail of their trip but then decided to call me instead." the way ricky calmly explained the situation made you feel much more at ease. he even showed you their conversation and translated everything

"oh..i was just overthinking the situation." you shyly responded. he ruffled your hair and chuckled

"we tell each other everything right? i don't want you to think that something has come between us."

kim gyuvin

you've noticed that gyuvin was posting on his story a lot, most of them including someone you've never seen before. most of their stories consisted of their hangouts and selfies of them together

at first you didn't mind it but gyuvin gradually began replying slower to your texts or taking hours to even read them, sometimes he'd even read them but not reply. but whenever he did read them, you'd see that he posted on his story with that same person

jealousy got the best of you, how come he couldn't make time to message you but hang out with this person nearly everyday?

not to mention that gyuvin has never acted like this before. he always replies to your messages quickly and didn't just leave you on seen for hours on end

in response to this behaviour, you just stopped messaging him or even contacting him. it was totally out of character for you to do this but this was what you thought was the best decision

and before you knew it, you were getting bombarded with texts from your boyfriend, continuously asking why you haven't texted him and what you were up to, it made you smile

but you weren't responding to them like he did. you thought that was the end and shut your phone off, not even an hour later he called you. you couldn't decline it and picked it up

"hey, why haven't you responding to my text messages? i miss youuuu."

"why haven't YOU been messaging me as often?" you replied

"what do you mean?" is he trying to act like this past week hasn't been him ignoring you for something else?

"don't act coy, i saw the stories you posted with someone else when we've haven't seen each other in so long. have you been purposely not replying to my texts?"

"of course not! they were studying abroad in australia and recently returned to korea so i've been wanting to catch up with them. i'm sorry if you got the wrong idea though babe. if you want, i can cancel all my plans next week to dedicate it for you, and only you."

"i would love that."

park gunwook

at lunch time you were planning on heading to gunwook's homeroom to see if he was available, but he unexpectedly wasn't there

you approached one of his friends and asked but they informed you that gunwook had actually left early

you did a whole circle around the school but still couldn't find your boyfriend. this was odd since gunwook was always waiting for you in his homeroom so you two could eat lunch together and just spend time together

you thought he was busy playing soccer in the field so you went outside, but to your surprise, gunwook was with someone else

as you got a bit closer you saw that they were sitting on a bench, giggling with one another. you noticed how the other person nudged gunwook's shoulder as they were laughing at something

it made your heart sting for no reason, gunwook always dedicated his lunch time to you, he would've told you beforehand if he was going to be with someone else

the only thing you could do was watch from afar, you weren't being replaced, right?

but just as you were going to head back inside, you heard gunwook call your name

"oh great.." you whispered. he began running after you and catched up to you in a few seconds, soccer really does help with his fast pace

"what are you doing here?" his adorable grinned showed

"uh, nothing really, i was just looking for you."

"ah, i see! i was showing around my friend who recently transferred to our school. we went to middle school together and haven't seen each other in a while."

suddenly all the jealousy you had evaporated as you worried over nothing

"oh okay! i'm glad you two met again!"

i was homeschooled all through out primary school, and attended an accelerated course for middle & high school making me a hs graduate at 15 (at this point im a genius in every dr)

in my childhood i had a lot of hobbies and things i do professionally (parental coercion LMAO) like artistic gymnastics, piano, violin, contemporary & traditional dance. my hobbies were swimming, badminton and mixed martial arts (silat, taekwondo etc)

after i graduated hs while i had an offer from a prestigious university i had declined due to a few issues that was happening at the time (daddy issues is my canon event) and went with my mom to korea for gymnastics meets & dance recitals among other things.

big hit was on the brink of bankruptcy while debuting bts so my group and bts suffered on our early days. in 2016 bts gained interest in korea which follows cosmic’s slow popularity growth. however, cosmic focused more in the western market and finally hit the charts after our comeback in December of 2016 (after zero wins since debut) while bts won the first daesang in 2016 and got tremendous hate, cosmic won their song of the year & hit the billboard chart and stayed first for a few weeks. also getting tremendous hate from k netz, not believing a rookie girl group managed to secure billboard for their first win.

the next year my group decided on each solo comebacks, where other member success domestically my solo album went back to the billboards charts for weeks gaining cosmic its international popularity along with bts. in the end of the year bts won best group in pop while my album won best solo after that bts and cosmic soars in popularity both domestically and internationally.

ML AU idea: Lady of Second Chances (Season 1)

-I covered origins, so I figured I might as well cover how the season goes with a basically fully realized Ladybug.

-Ladybug started making charms early on.

-So Marinette is several times more mature and experienced than her previous self.

-It’s mainly just Marinette Preventing akuma when possible

-Stormy weather happens because nothing Marinette could do to stop that. So that episode is basically the same.

-Marinette has to remind herself that chat noir is still new to the hero thing.

-Lady Wifi still happens but Marinette debates telling Alya earlier or not after.

-Evillustrator happens with almost no changes. Except that Marinette’s plan worked with some slight tweaks. And it ended on the boat. Chloe did manage to get Sabrina back on her side though since Marinette was focusing on her plan.

-Chat noir asked for a reward for doing well guarding Marinette. Ladybug humored him with a pat on the head.

-Dark Cupid happens but because Marinette stepped in and stopped Kim from getting embarrassed. She made sure to ask who the girl was. Alya and Marinette managed to talk Kim out of it. He ended up getting sad because of it. Kim does realize Marinette and Alya were right. So that’s a positive. And ladybug wastes no time because she knows she has to kiss chat noir. (She may have been over enthusiastic)

-Copy cat doesn’t happen because Marinette made an effort not to leave a message. Saying she will try again another time. So she showed up at the statue unveiling and Chat noir didn’t get jealous, Theo got his autograph and everything was chill. No jelly kitty and no copy cat.

-Bubbler happens, but Marinette made 2 gifts. Because she remembered that the scarf will be mistaken as a gift from his father. So she made sure to keep that part the same way. But prepared a Different gift, this time with her name signed and stitched in. Marinette also made sure it matched the scarf, but not in an obvious way. Adrien loved the gift, thanking Marinette. Alya asked how she knew Adrien would not realize the scarf gift was from her. “I forgot to sign it” Alya jokes that she’s psychic

-Chronogirl/Timebreaker doesn’t happen because Marinette says She will hold the watch. Knowing how breaking it would be bad. So that’s prevented.

-Rogercop, Mr.Pigeon, The Pharoah, The Mime, pixalator and Guitar villain are all the same. Since Marinette couldn’t prevent them from happening.

-princess fragrance: Marinette had to help Tikki so it happened. Marinette did her best not to just hug Fu after seeing him. She knew it wasn’t the right time. So she kept her mouth shut.

-Reflekta Marinette could have prevented but she knows how the later pictures helped Juleka so she lets it play out the same way.

-the episode Kung food happens but Marinette’s uncle isn’t akumatized. So Marinette knows she’s struggling but she tells Alya she will ask Adrien for help. Alya is proud of her for taking the step. Adrien is more than happy to help and since Marinette isn’t surprised this time, she is better prepared (plus over the previous timeline she had been working more on her mandarin, so that helped) Chloe gets akumatized and become “The Critic” but she gets her butt whooped.

-Darkblade happens but Marinette warns her mom in advance about Sabrina. So Sabrina can’t even get into the house and returns in failure. Also Marinette is more bold in her campaign (Sabrina voted for her in secret)

-Animan happens, Marinette ENSURED everything happened the same way so Alya and Nino ended up together.

-Horrificator happened, but this time Marinette and Adrien did kiss. Since Marinette locked the door so Chloe didn’t ruin the shot. (Marinette forgot that this day resulted in horrificator. As she was distracted.

-So Gamer doesn’t happen, Marinette sees the tournament they were doing and asks if she could play since she liked the game. She smoked Adrien and Max. The class suggests she competes but she declines, but would be happy to give them pointers. Which Max and Adrien agree. (While max is a bit grumpy about losing he is still gonna compete so he’s not akumatizable) and Marinette coaches then both at her place. Max and Adrien both being polite and accepting of the treats. It’s not as romantic as Marinette would have liked but Adrien and her do get a few moments. Max and Adrien win the tournament, and they give the trophy to Marinette who coached them.

-Simon says happens but with 50% more ladrien.

-Antibug doesn’t happen because Marinette remembered not to snap at her. And encouraged her to make amends with Sabrina. Since at this time Chloe looked up to ladybug.

-Volpina. So Marinette remembers what happened when she confronted Lila the first time. But she also needs to make photo copies of the book. So Marinette takes a different approach.

-Marinette runs into them at the library. As the Class rep she has a right to introduce herself to a new student. Lila has to smile and pretend like she isn’t getting C-blocked by Marinette. Adrien talking highly of Marinette also pisses Lila off.

-Tikki snuck the book and Lila ended up without it. Also because of Marinette’s interruption, there was no after school park date. Lila was annoyed.

-Marinette quickly got pictures of everything in the book and before school ended, gave the book back to Adrien. Saying she found it by his chair and was wondering if it was his.

-Relieved, Adrien thanked Marinette for finding the book, he didn’t realize it was missing. He headed back home.

-Marinette now had everything she needed and headed to Fu’s place.

-Lila decides to try again with Adrien later but no akumatization.

-Marinette is excited to meet Fu for real.

-Adrien does find himself thinking about Marinette a LOT more after the movie kiss (which technically was their first kiss now). But ladybug is also more flirty with chat noir (and with Adrien) so Boy may be a bit more conflicted

The sound of your polished heels echoed as you hurried your steps down the empty corridor, cursing under your breath that your cat had to lay on your pre-picked outfit and make you late as you lint rolled your clothes. You scowled at the thought but you knew you wouldn’t stay mad, she’s just too cute. With your classroom in sight, you slowed your pace and checked your hair in a nearby display case, pursing your lips.

“Your hair looks fine, Ms l/n,” a voice spoke up, making your body jolt from shock as you quickly stopped prepping yourself in the school’s languages trophy case, “don’t you have a class now?”

Your bewildered eyes met those of Xu Minghao, one of the school’s art teachers - alongside Kim Mingyu - as he stood only a few feet away with some sketchbooks in his arms. You quickly wiped the panicked look from your face, smiling at him before you looked like a deer in headlights.

“I-uh, yeah, I’m late,” you sighed, rubbing your temple with your right hand, “I got my outfit out last night for once and Kiki must have decided it looked comfy...”

“I’ll let you get going then,” Minghao smiled, dipping his head towards you, “I have to drop these student sketchbooks off at Mr Kim’s classroom.” You nodded quickly, bidding your farewells to him as you turned on your heels and departed ways. Your heart raced a little. Due to department differences, you never really got to speak to Minghao outside of school staff meetings where the principal - rather stupidly in your opinion - crowded all of the academic staff into some small classroom for briefing. Pushing the handle down, you smiled at your students as you entered your classroom.

“Sorry I’m late guys, Kiki decided to cause problems.” You announced as you settled your laptop on your desk, loading it as you turned to write on the whiteboard while your laptop started up. Your classroom awed at the mention of Kiki, they were all very fond of the cat and would ask for updates or to see photos almost every lesson.

Thankfully, despite your incident with turning up late, the class went smoothly covering intermediate Chinese conjunctions. The students only bothered you once about Kiki and didn’t whine too much about doing conjunctions. As you began ending class, one student piped up while they packed away their things - her name was Jisoo and she was a pretty smart student amongst the class. She picked up things fairly quickly.

“So... Ms l/n, what did Mr Xu want before class?” She tilted her head, her eyes on you as you paused your movements, slowly looking at your students’ eager eyes. Heat flushed your cheeks but only out of fear that they’d seen you checking your appearance in the display case.

“Hm? He was telling me about the next briefing since I was late this morning,” You uttered a lie confidently, knowing your students weren’t stupid - that’s why they were language students for Heaven’s sake, “how do you guys even know Mr Xu and I were talking?”

Your eyes flickered between each of your students’ faces, waiting expectantly for one of them to speak up and answer your question. You furrowed your brows as Ik-jun spoke up next.

“Nayeon needed the bathroom and figured she could go before you arrived but she saw you and Mr Xu speaking in the corridor and sat back down.” He admitted, slinging his backpack over one of his shoulders as the bell chimed and they all promptly left, laughing and speaking amongst themselves. You stood there for a few moments, looking around blankly at your empty classroom. You really didn’t seem to be able to do anything without them knowing everything.

Days to almost weeks passed by as South Korea entered winter, the temperature beginning to change drastically daily as you started wrapping up warmer. Your students were beginning to push the topic of Minghao in almost every class they had with you and had even started to bother the other professor in the languages department who taught them, Joshua Hong about the two of you. You discovered this as the two of you walked, hot mugs of coffee in your hands to deal with winter’s wraith.

“What’s the deal with you two? Before they end up slaughtering me for answers I don’t have.” Joshua joked, taking a drink from his mug and exhaling after. You both had free periods at that moment, you wouldn’t see the students until the afternoon and Joshua would see them shortly, in approximately an hour.

“There’s literally nothing going on,” you groaned in response, opening the door to your classroom where the two of you decided to sit while it was silent, “they have wild imaginations. This all started cause he caught me checking my appearance in a reflection.”

Joshua laughed, placing his mug down before taking a seat and opening his laptop up so he could prep his class for the day while he had the time. You decided to do the same, as if you hadn’t already prepped your lesson last night before you slept - but you decided it was probably best to proof read it.

“You know they might be onto something-” Joshua started but you were quick to cut him off.

“Don’t you start too!” You whined, throwing your head back from frustration as there was a sudden knock on your classroom door and you turned your head to see Minghao, the last person you’d want to see in this moment. He smiled when you noticed him before looking over at Joshua.

“Thanks for letting me borrow the pack of rulers, I went out to get some last night,” he held up a bunch of rulers in his slim hand, an elastic band wrapped around them, “they’re being really tight with the art department’s budget this year, we can’t even get rulers.”

Minghao wandered to where Joshua sat, placing them next to his laptop and Joshua chuckled.

“It gets worse every year I swear, y/n had to go out the other week for spare pens,” Joshua hummed, slipping the rulers into his shoulder bag before looking back up at Minghao, “you got a free period? You’re more than welcome to join us in here. Think y/n is the only person with heating on right now.”

“I have a class in about thirty minutes but I can chat until then,” Minghao accepted the offer as he sat on the table beside Joshua, flipping a pencil between his fingers that he carried, “the art studios don’t even have heating anymore. I dread the amount of student complaints I’ll get today.”

You scowled mentally at the fact Joshua even offered him to stay when he knew your current situation with him. Yet, the more you thought about it, perhaps Minghao was completely unaware of the students’ wild conspiracies about the two to you. At least, he hadn’t mentioned it to you if he was. Maybe it would be awkward if he chose to, how exactly were you supposed to handle that? You glanced at Minghao, watching him do tricks with the pencil quietly.

“Surely that can’t be good for the students,” you suddenly spoke up in the quiet, making Minghao look up and over at you. Your face flushed and you looked back at your laptop so he couldn’t see the hue your cheeks were turning, “the cold, I mean - wouldn’t it affect the muscles in their hands, the ones they use to do art in the first place?”

Minghao nodded from what you could see out of the corner of your eyes. He let out a soft sigh that sounded stressed.

“Yep. Even the physical ed. professors are trying to tell the office staff that,” he threw his head back momentarily and you took the opportunity to glance at him, seeing the pale of his neck glow in the winter day’s dull light through your windows. Joshua let out a noise and you quickly looked away in time for Minghao to look at his watch, “I better start heading to the studios, see you both.”

You smiled awkwardly, putting a hand up to bid farewell to Minghao as he left the classroom and shut the door behind him to retain the heat. Joshua snickered, leaning forward on the table he was seated at.

“Want to run that by me again?”

With Christmas break only days away, your students would whine at any chance they got to do something ‘more fun’ as they would put it. You lined up a bunch of Christmas themed activities for them to do in Chinese, so it stuck with the class but it was somewhat fun for them in spirit of the holidays. You sighed, looking out of your window at the snow falling as your class merrily completed the activities you’d handed out, helping each other and singing to the Christmas music you’d put quietly on in the background to set the vibe.

You glanced down beside your desk, realising something was missing as you groaned mentally, eyes almost rolling back into your head at the thought. You’d left your lunch in your car, fitting considering lunch period was next and it was still snowing heavily outside. You scowled, promising yourself you’d be quick as possible so you wouldn’t be cold too long. Deciding you should look busy, you turned back to your laptop to print off the homework you’d be setting them at the end of class. They’d been quiet about the Minghao situation for about a week now, thankfully for you. You’d never admit it, especially to your students but you were slowly - and unfortunately in your case - seemingly falling into a deep hole for the Chinese art professor.

On this specific day, despite the fact they weren’t directly talking to you about him like usual, they were still talking amongst themselves about the professor. From what you gathered, he hadn’t turned up today and their class was covered by Mingyu instead. You couldn’t help but frown, had he rang in sick? This weather was catching a lot of the staff out recently. Realising how soon the bell would chime, you quickly did your rounds of passing out the printed off homework, ignoring their whines and pleads to not set any. They filed out of the room quite quickly however when the bell went, leaving you in silence finally.

Wrapping your scarf around your neck, you picked up your pace towards the staff car park for your lunch. You almost debated eating in your car but decided by the time the car would warm up, you’d probably have finished your food anyway. The corridors were loud and filled to the brim with students of all ages and occasionally staff. Your face creased a little at the amount of shoulders and other body parts you kept bumping, making you surprisingly glad to finally be out of the mess and in the cold winter air as you stepped outside. The snow made it slightly hard to see with its heaviness but you had thankfully worked at the school long enough to navigate its grounds with your eyes closed.

Whistling suddenly echoed in the silence and you paused, looking around. The whistling was familiar to you, you’d heard him do it many a time when he was concentrating and sometimes even when he was nervous about exam season or briefing. As you squinted through the snowflakes, you finally saw his figure approaching. You paused, wondering whether you should keep your head down and walk past but your decision making was too slow as he finally stopped in front of you and you admired the white bouquet of flowers in his arms. It was made up of mainly your favourite flowers and suddenly you felt a sickly jealousy.

“Minghao,” you greeted so the two of you didn’t stand in an awkward silence once more and honestly, you wanted the conversation over as you was growing more hungry by the second, “who is the lucky lady?”

You may have joked that last part with a small hint of spitefulness in your voice but you didn’t think he’d pick it up. Minghao looked away, clearing his throat softly.

“You,” he suddenly blurted out and your eyes widened. He must have surprised even himself as he too widened his eyes as he stared at you, “I-uh, yeah - you. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how I feel and it’s never been easy for me to express. I may struggle a little but I struggle sometimes with Korean and you’ve never judged me. I really enjoy sitting with you in the quiet and helping you plan your lessons because you speak to me in my own language and I become so much more comfortable. I only have Junhui from the dance department to cope with my Korean struggles so I’m really thankful for you and the time you give me. I’m-uh-rambling a little... do you want to grab lunch with me?”

Stunned, you stared at him a little and you could no longer tell if the redness of your cheeks was from the bitter cold or the confession you’d just witnessed out of nowhere. Clearing your throat and awkwardly brushing hair behind your ear, you laughed a little, nodding.

“Sure, I’d love to.” You responded in Chinese, making his face light up amongst the dancing snowflakes. He paused, holding out the bouquet of flowers towards you.

“These are for you.”

The holidays passed rather quickly, bringing some slightly warmer temperatures - even if it was only by a few degrees, it was at least melting the thick layers of snow that coated the ground. Your class came back with warm, excited smiles for the new semester - and the sight of the green grass coming back outside. The first lesson back and they sat happily chatting, watching as you began to write on the whiteboard today’s objectives and date. Your cardigan sleeve slipped down and the dainty bracelet around your wrist exposed itself.

“Yah, Ms l/n! Who got you that bracelet?” One of your students perked up, all of them staring in confusion - most likely pondering if you’d got a partner without their noses being stuck in your business. You hummed, glancing at the bracelet with a small smile as you kept writing while answering them.

“Mr Xu,” you put the pen lid back on the whiteboard pen, turning to look at their shocked faces, “he got me it for Christmas.”

“Huh - he finally confessed?” Ik-jun yelled excitedly, standing up from his desk with his hands in his hair - which you could only cringe at mentally due to how stiff his hair was with hair gel. Yet at the same time, your face fell. What did they mean ‘finally?’

“What do you- did you guys know this whole time?” You were stunned, staring at them in surprise as you were now the one awaiting answers from your own students. They nodded in sync, smiling as Nayeon spoke up.

“He told us last October in class, we’ve been trying to drop hints to you but you are so naive we didn’t think you would pick it up!” She admitted cheerfully.

Your tongue pushed against your cheek as you looked away out of the window. You’d be having words with Minghao later at lunch.
