Spider-Girl bitten more than she could chew in the field ft Natasha Romanoff
The sun dipped below the skyline of New York City, casting long shadows across the bustling streets. Y/N Parker, twin sister to the city's famed superhero Spider-Man, found a rare moment of peace on a quiet rooftop. The gentle breeze played with her hair as she gazed at the city below. Tonight, for once, it seemed like the city was at peace.
Little did she know that tranquillity was a fleeting concept in a superhero's life.
Without warning, the air trembled with a deafening crash. Y/N's head snapped towards the source of the sound. Smoke billowed in the distance, a stark contrast to the golden hues of the setting sun. Her instincts kicked in, and Spider-Girl mode was on. She swung from building to building, closing the distance to the chaos.
As Y/N arrived at the scene, the source of the disturbance became apparent... a building, once standing tall and proud, now crumbled like a house of cards. Panic and fear painted the faces of those trapped beneath the debris. Y/N's heart raced as she assessed the situation, her thoughts flashing to the countless training sessions with her brother.
She had to act fast.
The first responders were on their way, but every second counted. Y/N sprang into action, using her enhanced strength to lift beams and clear paths. The mask hid her expressions, but the grim determination was evident in every movement. Her limbs ached, but she pushed through the pain. People needed her.
Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was returning from a mission abroad, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding in her city. Her mind was still focused on the shadows of her past, on the faces she couldn't erase. But as she neared New York, a strange feeling crept over her, a premonition that something was wrong.
Y/N's efforts were tireless. She saved lives, pulling people from the wreckage, offering words of reassurance when her own strength wavered. As the last survivor was pulled to safety, a sudden weakness swept over her. Fatigue settled in, and the pain she'd been suppressing surged to the forefront.
Just as her legs threatened to give way, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
Natasha - Dorogoy! (дорогой = my dear)
Natasha Romanoff, clad in her signature black suit, stood at the edge of the disaster zone. Her eyes widened at the sight of her non-official daughter, battered and bruised, yet still standing.
Without a word, Natasha rushed forward. Y/N's world spun, and she stumbled into Natasha's waiting arms. The weight of her injuries became too much, and the edges of her vision blurred.
Natasha held her, a mix of panic and concern etched across her features. This was the Black Widow, a woman who had faced gods and monsters without flinching, now struck dumb by the sight of a wounded girl.
Natasha - Sweetheart, talk to me.
The Black Widow's voice cut through the chaos as she stroked the younger girl's cheek. Y/N managed a weak smile beneath her mask.
Y/N - Just... had a busy day at the office.
As the girl joked even if her strength was failing, Natasha could only see how much influence Tony had on the kid.
Natasha's eyes narrowed with worry as she took in the extent of Y/N's injuries. It was a rare sight, the stoic Black Widow, momentarily shaken.
Natasha - Come on, honey. Let's get you home.
Natasha said with her tone a strange mix of command and softness.
With that, Natasha scooped Y/N into her arms, carrying her away from the disaster site. The Black Widow moved with a grace that misrepresented her strength, navigating the city's rooftops with ease. Y/N rested against Natasha's shoulder, the pain momentarily forgotten in the safety of those familiar arms.
As they arrived at the Parker's apartment, which was currently empty, Natasha gently laid her down on the couch. Y/N's breathing was laboured, but Natasha's gaze never wavered.
Y/N - I've had worse...
Insisted the teenager weakly, trying to downplay her injuries.
Natasha, however, wasn't buying it. With a gentle touch, she unmasked Y/N, revealing a face that mirrored both vulnerability and resilience. Natasha's fingers traced the edges of the bruises, her eyes reflecting an unspoken worry.
Natasha - You've done enough for today, princess. You scared me.
The older woman admitted with a rare vulnerability in her voice.
Y/N managed a weak laugh.
Y/N - Me? Scare the great Black Widow? I'm really sorry but I can't abandon my duties, Nat. People need help out there.
Natasha shot her a mock glare before her expression softened.
Natasha - And who's going to help you if you push yourself to the brink? You're family, Y/N. You're not allowed to scare me like this.
Y/N's response was lost in a stifled groan as Natasha began tending to her injuries. Natasha's hands moved with a skill born of years of combat, yet there was an uncharacteristic gentleness in her touch. Y/N winced occasionally, but Natasha's soothing words and careful ministrations alleviated the pain.
As Natasha worked, her thoughts wandered to the times when Y/N was just a skinny 13-year-old, brimming with determination but lacking experience. She remembered the day she found Y/N training tirelessly in the Avengers' compound, a self-imposed regimen to keep up with her brother, Peter. Natasha had watched silently, the seeds of a unique bond planted that day.
Natasha - Now, promise me you'll take it easy. No more pushing yourself like this. *raises eyebrow*
Y/N, who was now propped up on the couch, nodded, her eyes reflecting gratitude mixed with exhaustion. Natasha remained vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on Y/N's vital signs.
The evening light bathed the room in a warm glow as Natasha sat beside Y/N, a silent sentinel in the quiet apartment. The city's chaotic symphony had dimmed to a distant murmur, allowing a rare moment of stillness. Natasha's mind, usually a labyrinth of strategies and memories, now focused solely on the girl beside her.
Y/N shifted, discomfort etched on her face. Natasha immediately tensed, ready to intervene, but Y/N's groan turned into a chuckle.
Y/N - You know... You're way better at this mom thing than I expected.
A hint of a smile touched Natasha's lips.
Natasha - I've had some practice.
She admitted as her eyes softened.
As the night deepened, Natasha found herself in a role she never imagined: comforting, caring, and, above all, worrying. The Black Widow, a figure feared by enemies and respected by allies, was navigating unfamiliar territory.
Y/N's breaths evened out, signalling the arrival of sleep's healing embrace. Natasha watched her, a mix of emotions playing across her features as she draped a blanket over Y/N, a protective gesture that went beyond the physical. As the city outside hummed with life, Natasha settled into a vigil by Y/N's side, embracing the unfamiliar warmth that came with a realization. In that moment, the Black Widow wasn't a superhero, she was a mother, fiercely protective of her own daughter.

Worried Moms
a/n: hey it's my first request, i hope you'll like it. I loved to write it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*not my GIFs*
WandaNat x adoptive!daughter!reader; Natasha Romanoff x Wanda Maximoff; Avengers x teen!f!reader
Request: And I do have something to request if you feel comfy doing it. Mom!Wanda and Mama!Nat with the reader as their daughter. Reader gets sick and tries to hide it and push through it but they end up fainting or something like that, cue to mama bears mothering her to health. (Idk if fainting can be considered a trigger but if it's for you, I'd gladly read the fic with whatever you have in mind.). [Request by @darkstar225]
Summary: You're sick but you have to hid it from your moms because you want to go in mission, unfortunatly for you and Sam everything don't go well.
Type: Fluff
Warning: maybe 'fucked up' use three time
word count: 1319
--------
You awoke with a headache; it was unusual for you to become ill since gaining your powers. You didn't know if it was a bad thing, but you had to hide it; the next week, you'll go on a mission, but first you have to get your moms' approval. They said they would think about it if you managed to survive your training session. Easy, no? The rest of the day, your state was getting worse, but because you successfully hid it from an ex-assassin and a witch who could read your mind (even if she didn't do it without your consent), you could handle it a little longer.
The next day, otherwise, at the time you woke up, you thought you could die; if it was a cold, it was the worst you ever had. But you didn't really have the time to think about it; you checked your clock: 9 a.m., which meant you had one hour before the start of your training session. You decided to take a hot shower; it was helpful for the next 40 minutes. Today you were paired with Sam to upgrade your hand-to-hand combat skill. At first it was like usual, but suddenly your breath hurt your lungs. You stopped and tried to process what was happening, but Sam punched you in the face. It wasn't a strong punch; he restrained himself, but due to your poor condition, you fell on the training ground with your eyes closed; you were knocked out. When your body hit the ground, everyone in the room froze. There was silence until Sam kneeled next to you and asked, "Y/n? Y/n, are you all right?"
Obviously not, but you didn't mind that he couldn't think clearly. To be honest, no one could; the Falcon picked you up from the floor and ran to the med bay, followed by all the rest of the team.
"You're fucked up, Sam." Bucky said,
"I didn't do anything; we were training, and I just tried to punch her. "Usually, she'd dodge and hit me back," he defended himself.
"But now she's knocked out, and the only person with her was you. FRIDAY, could you please call doctor Cho?" Steve asked the A.I.
"It's done, Mr. Roger," the IA confirmed, but the hero couldn't respond before FRIDAY spoke again. "Mrs. Romanoff and Mrs. Maximoff are back."
There; he was fucked up. On their way to the kitchen, the two redheads found Helene, who was in a hurry and bumped into the shorter woman. "Sorry Natasha, I didn’t look where I was walking,” she apologized, and the Russian nodded.
“It’s okay, don’t worry, but you seem in a hurry, so we will not restrain you more.” She said and stepped aside to let the doctor resume her course. Wanda just had the time to put the bags on the counter when FRIDAY spoke.
“Mrs. Maximoff, Mrs. Romanoff, the doctor needs you in the infirmary right now.” The two women exchange a confused look before heading to where they were called. In front of the room, the witch felt a wave of fear and sadness, and she started to worry. Of course, Nat noticed and grabbed her hand before they walked into the room.
Their eyes widened when they saw you in the bed; they rushed to you before any of them could say anything Sam explained what’s happened. “How couldn’t you notice she was not like usual?” the Russian yelled at him, and nobody found the courage to defend him.
Wanda approached you and cupped your cheek. "Don't worry, dragă (darling), she's fine," the Sokovian assured her, and Helen spoke up.
"Don’t worry, Natasha I just got the results from the test, and it seems she just has a cold.” The doctor reassured her, and the ex-assassin seemed to be more calm. “She just needs to rest for a week. I’ll give you some medicine in case she needs it after she wakes up.” Everyone except your mothers left you after your mothers nodded.
After two hours, you awoke. You were surrounded by two worried redheads. “Hey, you.” you said softly.
“Hey, you.” Wanda said, and Natasha gave you a soft smile. “How are you feeling?” the witch asked you.
“Like I collided with a bus, but he was moving. But I think I'm okay," you said, looking around and raising your brows. "Where am I?" you inquired.
“In the infirmary,” the Black Widow said this time, “we were really worried about you when Sam told us what’s happened.”
You sighed “I’m sorry,” you said quietly.
“Since when?” Wanda asked, and her wife looked at her confused. “Since when have you been like this?” she added.
“Yesterday.” You admitted it shyly.
“Yesterday!?” the older woman loudly repeated, and you nodded. “Why did you hide it from us?” She inquired, a little concerned about her failure to notice it earlier.
You played with your fingers to try to erase your anxiety, “because you said you’d let me go with you if I finished the training session. And I wanted to make you proud of me, and show you I was ready. So, I forced myself to not let you know and not think about it when I was near Mama.” You paused a moment, saying, "I'm sorry if it makes you worry," and some tears found their way into the corner of your eyes.
“Hey, it’s okay.” Nat cupped your cheek and brushed your tears with her thumb. “It’s okay; we’re a little worried, but it’s okay; we’re not mad or anything. You don’t have to cry, malyshka (baby girl)” their eyes were wet too.
You were about to speak again when a red whip lifted you. The scarlet magic tickled you “We can’t stay here, and you have to rest.” The witch said, and you laughed, “What is so funny?” She gave you a falsely curious look.
“It-haha…it’s tickling me.” You barely said and before you could notice she lend you on your bed. ‘Thank you,” you said, and they gave you a kiss on both cheeks before heading to the door. “Where are you going?’ you asked.
“We must cook you something. We’ll not let you like that.” Wanda said before they left the room. In the kitchen, everybody was waiting for the two women to give an update.
“How is our little fireball?” Tony asked.
“Much better,” Wanda replied, “she just needs rest. We put her in her bed, and we’ll cook something, so she’ll eat before sleeping again.” She explained, and after that, Natasha hit Sam’s head.
“What was that for?” he asked, a little scared.
“You hit our baby girl.” the Russian replied; “you’re lucky Wanda didn’t throw you away earlier,” she added, and the atmosphere changed. “And for the mission, I think we will let you go. We will stay with Y/n. I’ll text Fury.” She explained, nobody found any reason to argue; they know how much they love you, so it's obvious they’ll never let you alone in this condition.
You spent the next week in your bedroom, surrounded by your moms’ love; you couldn’t leave your bed without one of them following and making sure you were okay. Sam was not allowed to approach you for a month. It was pretty funny, and after that, he spent two months making sure you forgave him, even if you assured him it was not his fault.
This little incident proved how much they loved you, and of course you were glad even if you already knew that. You adored them just as much as they do.The world knew how scary the Black Widow and the Scarlet Witch were, and Sam could approve. But the world didn’t know how lovely and careful they could be, between them, of course, but twice as much with you.

a/n; more of scarletwidow life lessons!! i got a little carried away with this ngl👺 anygays,, here is where we see more of their relationship develop~ shoutout to my lovely friends in the marvel server for shooting out some ideas for this as well:] as usual inbox is open for requests for this au or just general chattin && feedback is always appreciated <3 enjoy some mama!wandanat y’all 🫶🏻
the last month at the compound has by far been the best ever since your parents’ death. for once, you two were in an environment where you were safe and had people who genuinely cared for your wellbeing.
old habits die hard though, especially for you. ellie was a couple months shy of a year old when when your parents passed away. you two were placed into a foster home that turned out to be a pair of hydra agents in disguise. their task was to foster as many kids as possible and weed out the ones they felt was best suited for hydra’s new programmes. you had been suspicious of them ever since stepping foot in the house, they barely cared for any of the children and you often had the responsibility of taking care of your sister.
after a couple months of being in their foster care, they adopted you both legally just so they could send you off to the hidden labs. with ellie being one, they focused on helping her develop her basic skills.
you, having got your basic motor skills at least, got the brunt of any physical training, which in turn came with punishments and pain. the scientists in charge of ellie’s general care and your mental developement had grown a soft spot for you two which you were grateful for as they were rarely physical with either of you. you were even more thankful that the avengers raided the base when they did, because the guards had mentioned starting ellie’s physical training since she had just turned four.
so yes, the last three years had been far from easy.
on the first night, you barely slept. as comfortable as the large bed was, you just refused to let yourself rest in fear that someone would come take ellie away in the night. the door creaking open had you quickly shutting your eyes, feigning sleep.
natasha took note of how uneven your breathing was compared to ellie’s but decided against commenting on it. instead she purposefully made her steps louder as she left the room and headed off for her morning workout. when you hear the footsteps fade away, you opened your eyes to survey your surroundings again shifting ellie closer to you, you attempted to keep watch a little longer but ultimately sleep overtook you.
you’re were awakened a few hours later by ellie shaking you. her round doe eyes looked up at you as she asked if there’s any food. usually you’d be back from whatever “payment” the guards have you do with food before ellie even wakes up. there might be no more guards here to hurt you, but you’re still apprehensive. and while they had given you food the night before just like that, you mentally prepared yourself just in case. hand in hand, the two of you headed out of the room, only to walk straight into natasha. the redhead had her hair in her usual braid, her workout clothes traded in for a more casual attire.
“oh good, you’re up. wanda is making breakfast.” natasha smiled at you two, gesturing for you to follow her. when she doesn’t hear your footsteps, she turns back around.
“if.. if we’re required to do anything for breakfast i can do it for both me and ellie..” you trailed off uncertainly as you look up at her, feeling a little unnerved by her unreadable gaze.
natasha stood there for a moment, many alarm bells going off in her head. she doesn’t even want to wonder what you had been asked to do, so she quickly compartmentalizes that thought for later. she goes to take a step forward but stops when you quickly step backwards. “you don’t have to do anything okay? not anymore.”
“but food is expensive.. i have to pay off the debt no?” you questioned, but relax slightly at the thought of not needing to do any of the things you were used to.
“no debt. you need food to stay healthy, you’re a kid malysh. you deserve to be taken care of. now come, let’s see what wanda is making.”
the rest of the month progress in a similar fashion. both of you are given proper baths everyday, not just the usual quick rinse with cold water you had become accustomed to, which didn’t even happen daily. natasha is constantly reminding you two that if either of you needed anything, you could just ask. while you remain hesitant on asking for things, ellie has almost no reservations.
while everything seemed to be going good, you were getting worried that ellie might be getting attached. the scientists teaching ellie had kept a cold distance, meaning you were the one giving her any kind of physical love and affection. now, ellie had both natasha and wanda too. the little girl had clearly taken a liking to the redhead, going to her with any of her requests and natasha granting most if not all of them.
to natasha, ellie was asking for the most basic things a child should have so she had no issues indulging her. while it worried her a bit that you still seemed so reserved, she never quite knew how to break you out of your shell. it definitely did not help that ellie took up most of her attention. ever since natasha had introduced the younger kid to all the toys tony bought, she spent more time playing dolls and colouring than doing paperwork.
however, natasha knew that wanda was making small but steady progress with you. while ellie had gotten into a habit of asking natasha for things, wanda relied on observing you for any cues that might indicate what you wanted. the first time you had breakfast with them, you had finished everything but barely touched the bacon. after some coaxing from wanda, she found out that you hadn’t enjoyed the greasy texture of it. you had expected to be reprimanded but wanda simply took the plate away and gave you another serving of eggs and toast. wanda had also noticed you took a liking to the various kid books provided by tony. so while natasha was colouring with ellie, wanda would sit with you on the couch nearby with her own book in hand. you never mentioned it but you always liked having her nearby, wanda emitted a sort of calmness that you were slowly getting used to.
the two adults were definitely glad to see the both of you settling in at the compound. moreso, they realised how much they enjoyed watching you two flourish. their previous night time discussions usually revolved work or any team gossip, but now they often found their topic of conversation to be about the two young girls down the hall from them.
one night, wanda confesses to natasha that she’s worried she can’t let go.
“i just.. i don’t think i can see them go tasha. i know it’s only been a month but, oh i don’t know. they’re good kids tasha, they deserve to be loved and taken care of. i just don’t think i can trust anyone to give them what they deserve.”
natasha, much to wanda’s relief, shares a similar sentiment. so after some more discussion, they decide that they’ll fully draft out the needed documents to make you two their children.
natasha decides now would be a good time to get the truth out of you. she knows that you’re much younger than you say are, the documents all prove it. but, she knows that you saying you’re older is a way of protecting yourself and ellie. which she aims to change because you are still a child.
natasha decides to try the straightforward method. at breakfast she asks you for your age, an eyebrow raised as if daring you to lie.
you know she knows, or at least you assume she does. but you’re stubborn and a part of you worries that by telling her your true age, you’ll be sent away. ellie is younger, she needs more guidance and care. why would the two avengers keep two kids when one would be easier?
you lie easily, telling her you’re turning 12, when in reality you’re only 7. natasha narrows her eyes at you and you avoid her gaze, picking at your food instead.
“you know.. lying isn’t very good malysh.” natasha hums and your grip on the fork tightens.
“well, i am eleven right now so. not lying.” you try and shrug nonchalantly but both the adults can tell it was forced. wanda places a hand on natasha’s shoulder, shaking her head slightly and the redhead drops the subject.
wanda chooses to try a different approach. she sits with you as she sorts out the books on the floor, picking out a book meant for slightly older children. she turns to pass it to you but notices you have a whole dictionary on your lap. she looks closer and realises that it’s russian, causing her eyes to widen in surprise.
your eyes skim through the pages as you try and find the particular words you wanted. ah, there it was.
malysh - baby
milaya - darling
your brows furrow at that. you had been curious as to what the adults had been calling you both, you were often called malysh while ellie was called milaya. you had assumed it was some sort of term for child, or girl, but you didn’t think it’d be a term of endearment.
“malysh what you looking at?” wanda’s sweet voice causes you to close the book hurriedly as you look up at her.
“nothing! i’m sorry i-“
“woah hey it’s okay malysh,” wanda is quick to soothe you. “you’re alright, yeah? just surprised because i didn’t think a dictionary would be your first choice in books.” wanda laughs a little and you feel yourself relax.
“i just wanted to understand the names you’ve been calling us, that’s all.” you shyly admit and wanda is barely able to contain the way she melts at your adorable expression.
“well, did you manage to find it?” wanda queries and you nod in response.
“i’m not a baby though.” you state, lips curled into a slight pout. “i’m a big girl and i can be useful.”
wanda sighs a little and pats the spot next to her. after some slight hesitation you shuffle over.
“it doesn’t matter if you’re a baby or not. you’re still a child okay? you deserve to be taken care of properly. we want you here because we care about you, not because we want something out of you. understood?” wanda gaze is fixed on you and you stare back at her as you processes what she said. you nod your head again slowly, assuming that is the ideal answer. your eyes dart over to the books and you end up picking one randomly before walking over to settle next to ellie at the coffee table.
ellie turns to look at you and shoots you a toothy grin as she shows off her latest coloring.
“look! tasha and wan!” the four year old giggles happily when you praise her work. she turns back around and begins to work on another project.
“would you like to color?” natasha offers but you shake your head. you try to start reading your book but something feels a little .. missing. you look up and around the room before you see wanda at the kitchen island on her laptop. you frown a little and you have a little mental debate in your mind. maybe, just maybe, you could try and see if they really mean they say.
“wanda?” you call out tentatively and the brunette’s attention is immediately switched onto you.
“yes malysh?”
you pat the space next to you in a silent question and wanda practically beams at you. she takes her laptop and sits at her spot next to you. now content that everyone was together, you went back to your book. wanda and natasha share a look, both of them pleased when they see a small smile on your face.
natasha continues to try and get you to reveal your true age. she’s exhausted almost every trick she’s seen laura do (and has done herself) on the barton kids.
she’s tried bribery, but it backfired pretty quickly with your past. you had been picking a book and natasha picked one that was meant for 6-8 year olds and offered it to you. the general storyline had piqued your interest enough, but just as you reached to take it from you natasha had brought it towards her. coming up with something along the lines of “oh aren’t you a little too old for the book? since you’re 11?” you had kept quiet, still eyeing the book so she tried to take it up a notch.
“or, are you much younger than you said? if you tell me, i’ll give you the book.” she had expected you to either argue back, or come clean but instead you stood up and made your way where wanda was preparing lunch. natasha watched, a little dumbfounded, as you clamber up onto the bar stool. she wasn’t sure what you two talked about but she received a slight glare from her girlfriend, red wisps grabbing the book from her grasp and floating it over to you. you accepted it with a quiet thank you to wanda before you started to read.
natasha tries the same thing again when tony sends in another shipment of toys. this time being enough stuffed animals for the girls to have their own zoo. ellie is quick to sort through the toys before picking one, holding it close to her. natasha observes you looking and sees the way your gaze is trained on a specific animal. she settles next to you and grabs it, your gaze flits from the toy to natasha.
“is this the one you like malysh?” natasha questions. your teeth pulls at your lower lip, your stare jumping between the stuffed animal and the redhead.
“if i say yes, do i get it or will you ask how old am i again?” you counter, absentmindedly fiddling with your fingers.
natasha gapes at you for a bit before sighing. she mulls over her thoughts before she begins to speak.
“look, i know you know that i know. truthfully, i don’t mind you lying to me. because i get it. being older makes you stronger, makes it safer, right?” natasha pauses and you nod hesitantly, keeping your head down.
“i’m a big girl. no one..” you take in a shaky breath before continuing. “no one wants a baby, much less two. and you already have ellie, so, that means i’m a big girl.”
“well i’m not no one, am i? wanda and i, we want this. we want you, malysh. both of you.” your head snaps up at that, your big eyes looking up at her. natasha chuckles softly as she places the stuffed toy in your lap. “we’ve talked about it and well.. we just don’t think we can let you go.”
“so we stay?” you ask, eyes glossing over with tears. “here? with you and wanda?”
“if that’s what you want malysh then yes. you are both our babies, you know? not just ellie.” natasha reiterates, one hand slowly going to wipe away your tears.
you swallow the lump in your throat as you continue to cry silently, your fingers tangling in the soft fur of the toy in your lap. safe. you two were finally safe.
“i turn 8 at the end of the year.” you whisper softly, peering up at natasha through your eyelashes. natasha’s smile broadens at your words, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
“thank you malysh. i promise you that wanda and i will always protect you. no one will ever hurt you, or ellie, again. not on our watch.”

Natasha walked down the corridors of the Hydra base stealthily, checking each room and corner before moving to the next. It was a simple mission; infiltrate the base, recover Hydra files, then get out. Nothing was out of the ordinary at first, of course with the few Hydra agents now and then that she would come across, it's nothing she can't handle.
The Avengers were assigned to this mission to retrieve a weapon of some-sort from Hydra, Fury got word that Hydra got their hands on a space alien tech which landed on earth, and it was his job to recover and retrieve it. There was no time for failure, is what he said during the briefings.
Natasha was appalled at how big this Hydra base is, she never expected that she would be walking around the base for more than 30-minutes without any trouble coming along her way (of-course with the occasional guards wandering around, but it was never quiet at a Hydra base).
She was walking down a hallway when she spotted, what looks to be, various Hydra scientists. They were all huddled up in a circle, most probably discussing something. She went closer to investigate and hoped to hear what they were talking about, hiding behind a wall that was near them.
“Was machen wir jetzt damit?”(What do we do with it now?)
“Ich sage, wir unterwerfen ihn der gleichen Behandlung wie den Wintersoldaten,”(I say we subject her to the same treatment as the Winter soldier)
“Wir wissen nicht, wie seine Anatomie funktioniert, mehr oder weniger, wie sein Gehirn reagieren würde,”(We don't know how her anatomy works, more or less how her brain would respond)
“Es ist nur ein Baby, es wird leicht zu trainieren und nach unseren Wünschen zu formen sein,”(It is just a baby, it will be easy to train and mold it our liking)
The varying voices started to fade from earshot for Natasha, and just when the voices of the scientist finally disappeared, she popped her head from behind the wall to check if the scientist was still there. When she saw no one, she took it as her que to move forward and follow where the scientists were headed to find this child they were talking about.
A baby?! She couldn't believe it, Hydra was experimenting on a baby?! She knew Hydra was evil but didn’t she didn’t think they'd stoop this low and start doing things to babies’.
Just when Natasha thought she was getting lost, her comms went off, “Detka (baby), are you there?”
Natasha smiles at the voice she hears, “Yes, don’t worry, I’m still here, Wanda,” she hears Wanda sigh at the other side, “That’s good, we thought we lost you, when you weren’t answering us, are you ok?” Natasha seems baffled that she seemed so left to her thoughts that she didn’t hear them calling to her, “Don’t worry, it just seemed I was lost in thought,”
She then hears Steve in her comms’, “You need to focus up, Nat. What have you found in the base?”
“Seems like Fury’s intel was right, they do have alien tech with them, but they were wrong when they thought it was just tech that was brought here. They have a baby-”
“A BABY?! What do you mean they have A BABY?!!” Steve’s erratic voice came through.
“Old man shut up– It’s an alien baby, I’m gonna try and find out where they’re keeping them, and get out as quickly and quietly as possible,” Natasha then turns off her comms but without before hearing Wanda utter the words “I love you” and “Be safe” to her, she smiles unknowingly.
She quickly focuses on the mission again. Following the same path she last saw the scientist went. She walks along the path of the scientist until she reaches the end of the hall, she sees a hazard door that needs a key card access along with a password.
She didn’t want to just break the lock pads since it would catch attention and would most probably alert the guards and everyone else in the building. So she hid behind a wall out of sight of everyone and waited patiently for the right time.
And as she patiently predicted all the scientists that she saw before came out of the hazard sign door, then as everyone piled out of the room, she took her chance in entering the room by slipping through the automatic sliding doors before it closed on her from the outside. And just when she entered she was met by the room being damaged, bite marks and claws marks were seen scattered around on the walls and equipment. She even saw burn marks, she thinks.
That’s when Natasha saw it, a small oval shaped pod of sorts, it was on top of a table with wires and tube of sorts holding it in place. She moved towards it to get a better look at it and test if there was anything she could salvage from it and saw a small tag on it. But then she heard something, something growled and thrashed, sounding like it wanted out from whatever it was keeping it. She turns and looks for the source of the sound, walking around the pod, she sees it.
It was small, maybe the size of a regular baby on earth, but there were keen features to what made them so different, and it was most definitely when the small baby had a tail, pointy ears, claws of sorts on their hands, and the fact the skin was blue should be the most distinct feature. Natasha was at awe when she saw them, they looked so adorable and so non-threatening at first glance, the blue baby looked at her and titled its head the same way she was tilting hers. But the blue baby abruptly lunged trying to get to her but was stopped by the glass wall in their way. Natasha was startled by the sudden action and tried to soothe the baby.
The pod ship forgotten, Natasha made it her new mission to get the baby out of Hydra’s hand. I hope I don't regret this, she thinks to herself, the baby alien resumed its attempts at trying to get out of the glass box that kept it trapped. She tried to speak to the baby, hoping by some miracle it would understand her.
“Shh shh, it’s ok, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m gonna get out of there and out of Hydra, don’t worry,” she smiles softly hoping it would ease the baby by the soft act. The baby’s attempts slowed, giving Natasha a signal of sorts that maybe the baby understood her.
She moved around the box inspecting it, trying to find anything that could help her open it or break it at least, after another minute she spotted a small blinking light at the bottom right edge of the box, there was a thin line of wire connecting something to it. She opted to follow the wire seeing where it's connected too. It was a control panel with a switch on it that said, off and on. Not very high-tech of Hydra, she switches the power of the box off, and when she looks back at the box, the glow around the glass dimmed, to show the box turned off, but when she walked back, she still couldn’t open it and realized she needed something else to open it.
Natasha internally groaned at the situation. But the baby had other ideas, they looked at Natasha with an intense gaze and Natasha herself was getting a weird feeling, when all of a sudden the baby poofed just right above Natasha and she promptly catched them, “You can teleport?”
The baby croons in Natasha’s neck basking in the comfort of someone safe. Natasha felt a wave of protectiveness wash over, like a motherly instinct and hugged them tight, now with the baby safe, all Natasha has to think is getting out of Hydra, since she practically locked herself in here.
She remembers then that the baby can teleport and quickly converse with them, “Ok, now were a bit in situation little one, you gotta teleport us out of here, just out of the building and we can meet up with some of my friends that will help us get out,” she faces the baby and coos at them…and they just stare at her confused.
“Ugh— Fuck how are we getting out of here,” she groans and leans back at the nearest top side that she can lean on, but she didn’t realize that she accidentally pressed on an alert button. Startling both her and the baby, she quickly acts by fixing her mistake and breaking the access codes and machines in getting into the room.
She can hear the guards and scientist running up to the room and she plops the baby behind her getting ready for a fight, if the baby decides to teleport without her, she’s fucked. She turns back on her comms, “Guy’s I’m in a bit of a situation here,” she quickly hears Steve’s voice responding back, “Nat, what’s wrong, are you ok? Do you need back up? We're sending in Wanda to help you now,” she retaliates to that idea, “Don’t, I just need-” she couldn’t even finish when she felt herself drop to the floor and heard screams from familiar voices.
She realizes that she’s in the quinjet and with the baby wrapped around her right leg, smiling at her. She smiles back and quickly stands up, picking up the baby with her, she looks around and everyone is in a fighting position, “Oh calm yourselves, they’re fine, they won't hurt you…But I will if you try to hurt them,” she gives each one them a glare, and they quickly relax (somewhat).
That’s when a girl with brunette hair rushed in for Natasha to hug, but is stopped when she hears a growl coming from the baby that Natasha is holding. “It’s ok malysh (baby), she’s not gonna hurt you. I promise,” Natasha nods at Wanda indicating her to move closer. She does so and when she gets close enough Wanda gives Natasha the tightest of hugs while making sure she didn’t agitate or hurt the baby Natasha was holding, she was worried that she was gonna lose Natasha when she heard that she was in a bad situation.
Both girls revel in the situation forgetting for a moment where they are, Natasha was the first one to loosen the hug they both were in, she turns to Steve and asks him to start the quinjet and get them out here and promises them that she will explain everything, Steve quickly gets to it. Leaving Natasha and Wanda alone along with the baby (Which Natasha was still holding).
“So, are you going to explain the baby? Or do I have to wait as well?” Wanda asked her.
“I will, don’t worry, let’s sit down first and get comfortable,” They both sit on one of the side benches in the quinjet and the baby Natasha is holding starts to squirm, that's when she sets them down and they start to lay down on Natasha’s lap and sleep. Both Wanda and Natasha awed at the sight.
And for the time being Natasha started to explain to Wanda and Steve (who came back after putting the quinjet on autopilot) what conspired in the Hydra base.
“Do they have a name?” Wanda was the first to ask.
Thinking back Natasha did think she saw a tag on the pod before she saw them. She smiles and looks back at Wanda, “It’s (Y/N),”
“Well isn’t that an adorable name for this adorable space baby,” Wanda comments, she looks at (Y/N) with adoration.
“How are you sure they won't attack us?” Natasha glares at Steve for even insinuating that, “They won’t as long as we make sure we don’t hurt them,” Steve still seemed a bit skeptical but accepted the answer. “Well it’s not me you have to worry about Nat, it’s Fury that you might want to try and convince. As long (Y/N) won’t doesn’t seem like a danger to anyone, I’m okay with it,” Natasha agrees, “Don’t worry, I already got a plan.” she assures him.
“Seems like they’re already attached to you. I’m pretty sure they see you as a mother already,”
“Yeah…a mother,” she smiles sadly and lets out a small laugh.
The air around them seemed to change and Steve quietly blamed himself for it, Wanda looked at Steve silently telling him to leave, and Steve obliged to the request.
“Are you ok, moya lyubov' (my love)?” Wanda places a hand on Natasha’s forearm and softly caresses it.
“Yeah,  I guess I just never thought that maybe, just maybe (Y/N) might see me as their mother. I don’t even think I’m a good enough mother,”
Wanda lets out a gasp at that, “What do you mean, you're not a good mother? I think the small twin boys at home would think otherwise.”
“You think so?” Natasha looks at Wanda, the love of her life, the life that she was never willing to change ever, and the life she will fight tooth and nail to keep them forever with her.
“I know so, I love you Natty, and the boys does so too, so much so that, I’m pretty sure you replaced me as the favorite mom, when you brought home Liho,” she teases and Natasha smiles at that, “I’m pretty sure the boys won't complain in having another sibling, they have been asking for a dog, and I think with (Y/N) they would be so much happier.”
“I love you too, and I love the boys too, so much and I love this and every other life I'm in with you. Thank you malysh (baby). I’m pretty sure the boys will love (Y/N) too, I know I do already.” Natasha leans on Wanda and holds both her and (Y/N) close.
They all stay silent, relishing in the warmth and love of each other. All of them have smiles on their faces as they wait to arrive at the compound. Steve smiles where he stands when he sees them, he hears everything and even lets out a small tear at every word they told each other, they both deserve what they have now, and he’s happy for them and so is every other Avenger is too. And if Fury tries anything, he’ll have a one-on-one chat with him.

Natasha groans in agitation, awoken by the blaring of an alarm. She reaches behind her to hit snooze on the offending machine before rolling back into her previous position, wrapped around her wife.
Wanda sighs. She pulls Natasha’s arms around her tighter, but her wife has other ideas. Natasha trails kisses from her shoulder up her neck until she is nibbling on her ear. Her hands go on a journey of their own, returning to all of the places they had been merely hours ago.
“What do you think you are doing?” Wanda asks playfully. “I’m sorry was last night not enough for you?”
Natasha chuckles, but never sways her attention from the body against hers.
When a hand dips below her sleep shorts, Wanda rolls to face her wife. “Watch it, Romanoff,” she smirks against the red head’s lips.
Natasha grabs her lips with her own. Pulling away she returns her wife’s smirk, “its Maximoff-Romanoff.”
“Well, Maximoff-Romanoff,” Wanda swats at Natasha’s hands that have found their way to her ass, “there’s no way we have time for activities and for both of us to shower before we have to get the army moving.”
The redhead relents, pulling the brunette fully into her arms. Wanda nestles against Natasha and releases an exhausted sigh, despite having just woken up.
“You ok?”
Wanda shrugs.
“Thinking about the interviews?”
“Yeah, they rescheduled three and tacked them onto the end of today’s schedule. Who knows how long we’re gonna be there tonight,” Wanda releases a long sigh, sinking deeper into her wife.
Natasha runs her hands up and down Wanda’s back gently, “I can help you relax. Let me take care of you.”
“As much as I would love that, we don’t have time,” the brunette parrots her earlier statement.
“Come on,” Natasha gets out of bed, grabbing the other woman’s hand to coax her to follow, “take a shower with me. You know how good I am at multitasking.” She raises a suggestive eyebrow.
Wanda can only giggle while she allows herself to be led into the adjoining bathroom.
After a very satisfying shower, getting dressed and a speedy light makeup application, Wanda exits the bedroom to begin the day, starting with waking the little humans.
Walking through the living room, Wanda stops to knock on the door to the basement. She opens it to call down the stairs, “Y/n, time to get moving. Breakfast in an hour.” She continues on her mission, traveling upstairs next.
“Good morning, everyone,” the mother knocks on each door calling for those inside. “Boys, time to wake up. Lena, you too.”
She makes her way into the last room, lightly tapping on the door.  “Good morning, princess,” she makes her way over to the toddler’s bed and sits on the edge. “Anastasia,” she sings lightly, gently rubbing the girl’s tiny back to rouse her, “time to wake up, my love.”
The three year old rolls over and sleepily peers up at her, “mommy?”
Wanda smiles and places a kiss to the girl’s forehead, “good morning, my sweet girl. Come on, lets get you ready for daycare.” She pulls away the covers and lifts the child out of bed. The mother changes her into the outfit she laid out last night. After some quick pigtails, Wanda settles the girl on her hip for the trip downstairs.
When she steps outside the toddler’s bedroom, Wanda is confronted by one of her younger twins.
“How come you bang on our door to wake us up, but she gets whispers and hugs,” Tommy asks, tooth brush in hand, but still in his pajamas.
The mother can’t help but chuckle, “well when you were 3, I woke you up with whispers too, but then you outgrew that and slept through the whispering.” She ruffles his hair then pulls him into a side hug, “you can still get hugs though.”
The boy manages to squirm out of the hug and turn back to the bathroom. “Nooo mom! You messed up my hair,” the 7 year old grumbles.
“Sorry,” Wanda chuckles bouncing the girl on her hip. “Everybody get moving. Breakfast in 45 minutes ok?” She waits for the array of ‘ok’, ‘yes mam’, ‘already on it’. After she is confident everyone is in fact working on it, she treks back downstairs to start breakfast.
She sits the still sleepy toddler on the couch with a sippy cup of milk to watch some cartoons while she makes breakfast. As she scrambles some eggs and gets some biscuits in the oven, the entire house comes to life around her.
This is one part of her life that Wanda wouldn’t change for the world. With her family moving around her, interacting and joking with each other, even when she has to break up some bickering, she loves her children with everything she has and can’t really figure out what she did to deserve them.
“Boys,” she calls in a warning tone, “Billy, you better not be finishing your brother’s homework.” The 2 boys look up from the table guiltily. “Pack up your backpacks. If it didn’t get done last night, then it’s not getting done.”
A look of fear covers Tommy’s features, “but I’ll get in trouble!”
Wanda turns to face her son, “I’m sorry, but you should have thought about that last night. There are consequences to your actions buddy. Next time, you’ll do all of your homework the night before and before you pick up a video game.”
The boy hangs his head in defeat, sulking while he gathers his books into his bag.
“Then, go pack your bag for track practice, too.”
Lena walks into the kitchen carrying a very worn pair of pointe shoes and her dance bag, “mom I need new pointe shoes. These are almost worse than my back up pair.”
The mother turns to look at her oldest daughter and the pair of shoes she presents to her. She nods, “we can go Saturday after the swim meet. Do you think they can last the rest of the week?”
The teen nods, tucking the shoes away in her bag.
“Good. Now, are you ready for school?” the mother asks.
“Yes mam,” Lena sets her bag to the side and looks back to her mother.
Wanda smiles, “perfect, could you help me cut up some fruit for breakfast?” The teen happily nods, pulling out the cutting board and whichever fruit her mother instructs her to grab.
Natasha and Alex walk into the kitchen one after the other. They’re laughing about something, most likely something that Alex said.
“Alright jokester, grab some plates and set the table for everybody please,” the redhead pats him on the back. She kisses her wife’s cheek on the way to pour herself a cup of much needed coffee.
While the liquid slips from the coffee pot to the mug, Wanda’s eyes rake up and down her body. She’s seen Natasha in her uniform practically everyday for the past 20 years, but the sight still does something to make her knees weak. Even despite this morning’s activities.
The brunette pulls the other woman close to her, “good morning officer.”
“Good morning to you,” Natasha smirks and leans in for a kiss. A kiss that is cut short-
“Gross, can you guys not please?” PJ groans as he enters the kitchen.
The two mothers break the kiss and laugh together. “Go help your brother set the table,” Wanda points her head in the direction of the table.
The chef turns to plate the food, while the officer calls for their youngest.
“Anastasia, guess what time it is,” Natasha prepares a small glass of water while she waits, although she doesn’t have to wait long.
“Puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff,” the toddler repeats with each quick little step she takes.
The officer picks her up and sits her on the counter, “that’s right. It’s puff puff time.” Natasha slides the basket containing all of the materials closer.  She picks up the preventative puffer and removes the cap, “step one: shake, shake, shake, shake.” She shakes the puffer while the toddler giggles and shakes her shoulders.
Of course, the mothers would much rather their daughter did not have asthma. However, they are prepared, willing and dedicated to do everything possible to help her control the condition and live as a typical 3-year-old. That includes breathing treatments that are not typically labeled as fun, but they do whatever they can to make it as enjoyable for Anastasia as possible.
“Alright, last shakes,” the redhead lets the girl shake a few more times while she attaches the puffer to the spacer, “next-“
“Mask!” Anastasia says happily.
Natasha holds the mask flush to the girl’s face, “and now…”
“…puff,” they say at the same time.
Natasha squeezes the canister releasing the medicine into the spacer, which bleeds into the mask. “Deep breaths,” she says as she exaggerates her breathing as an example for her daughter, “one deep breath, two deep breaths, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Good girl one more time, are you ready?”
Anastasia nods, and Natasha squeezes the canister again. The mother counts as her daughter takes deep breaths as instructed.
“… eight, nine, ten. Very good girl,” Natasha removes the mask from her face and sets it to the side. She grabs the glass of water set off to the side, “here, water.” The girl takes a swig into her mouth, and her mother instructs, “swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, spit!”
Anastasia leans over the cup to spit it in without spilling. Natasha sets the cup in the sink and lifts the girl off the counter, “all done!” She sets the toddler back on her feet.
The officer spots her oldest daughter walk out of the kitchen to place a plate of cut fruit on the table. Leaning down to Anastasia’s level, she whispers, “I bet if you ask nicely, Lena will help you get into your booster seat.”
The young girl happily skips out of the kitchen after her older sister.
Natasha smiles at her little crew all moving around the kitchen/dining area. She notices a couple are missing and turns to go searching.
First, she checks the back porch and finds one of the two in question. She steps out onto the porch to join him, “good morning, Max.”
The twelve-year-old turns with a grin, “morning Mama!”
“All done watering, buddy?”
“Yes mam… Hey, come check this out!” he excitedly waves her over to the garden him and Wanda have been working on for the past few months. “I got a bud!” he points.
Natasha walks closer to take a look, “that’s awesome, buddy!” She wraps an arm around her son’s shoulder. “Ready to come in? I think breakfast is almost done. Plus you should go tell Mom about the bud!”
“Ok,” he smiles, setting the squirt bottle back in its place and running inside. His mother follows, but instead of heading to the kitchen, she turns the opposite direction in search of one more straggler.
Wanda turns with a large plate of eggs in one hand and a plate of biscuits in the other. “Breakfast is ready!” she calls through the house. Setting the plates on the table, she has to swat the hands of her oldest boys away from the plate of biscuits, “only one each, until everyone gets one.”
As she is making Anastasia’s plate, she looks around the table for a headcount. Including the toddler, she counts four already sitting around the table. She looks up as the little twins are making their way to their seats.
 ‘One, two, three, four, five, six…’ Wanda counts in her head, ‘six?’
Max comes bounding into the room, “Mom, I found a bud on the tomato plant!”
‘Seven.’
“That’s great, Max!” she loves that she has a buddy in her gardening endeavor, and for her, his pure excitement is better than any fruit they would yield. He takes his seat, and Wanda takes a look around the room to find who is missing.
The last empty chair, beside Natasha’s, tells her exactly who she is missing.
“I’ll be right back. Y’all start eating,” Wanda makes her way out of the room, looking over her shoulder to add, “Lena’s in charge.”
The mother makes her way through the house to the living room. She tilts her head when she finds her wife standing at the basement door with her ear pressed into the narrow gap between the door and the frame.
“What are you doing?” she asks amused.
Natasha pulls a finger up to her lips, “shhhh.” She motions for Wanda to come closer. “She’s practicing,” she whispers and pulls her wife to listen for herself.
The brunette leans her ear towards the cracked door as well and can’t help but smile. The most beautiful music floats up the steps. Her daughter’s skill and talent still amaze her.
They both listen to Y/n play for another minute, before they know they have to interrupt if they want everyone to be on time today. They both quietly make their way down the stairs as the music continues.
Y/n is so focused on playing the piece, perfecting it, that she doesn’t even notice her mothers have entered the room until one of them clears their throat.
The music ends abruptly as the teen looks up guiltily, “sorry.” She cracks the small smile that she knows will have them break, “good morning?”
Natasha and Wanda laugh. “Good morning,” they say in unison.
The officer checks the outfit Y/n has on and is satisfied that she is at least dressed for the day. “Are you ready for school?”
Her daughter nods, “my homework is all done, my backpack is packed. I just have to pack this up too.” She holds up the violin in her hand.
“Thank you for being ready,” Wanda nods, “but now you need to eat breakfast.”
“I already ate,” the teen counters.
Wanda raises an eyebrow, “I’ve been in the kitchen all morning, and I’m pretty sure I never saw you…”
Y/n blushes and smiles guiltily again, “I woke up earlier than you this morning. I was in the kitchen while you were upstairs.”
Wanda squints her eyes trying to detect if the girl is lying, but she can tell she is not.
Natasha chuckles and shakes her head. Making eye contact with her wife, she shrugs, “Secret Agent.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wanda stops, leaning on the counter to take a deep breath. She tries to just breathe until the nausea passes. She’s barely 8 weeks along in her pregnancy, and the morning sickness is so much worse than it was with the twins.
“Come on kiddo, work with me,” she whispers placing a hand over her stomach.
The twins are finally down for a nap, and Wanda needs to use every available moment to tidy around the house. Natasha should be back from her doctor’s appointment soon, and she wants to have at least the kitchen finished by then.
Her wife actually should have been home a while ago. Every minute that ticks by gathers more worry in her stomach, so she cleans to keep her hands busy and her mind distracted.
With another deep breath, she continues wiping down the counters. While she does so, all kinds of scenarios run through Wanda’s head of what the doctor could have or could be telling to her wife.
The officer was forced more or less to go to the doctor by the chief. She’s repeatedly called in sick over the past couple months, and before she can go back to full active duty, she has to be cleared by a doctor.
Wanda moves on to washing bottles, checking the baby monitor every now and again.
The bottles are clean and drying on the rack when the door to the garage opens and closes. Wanda turns to greet her wife who stands stiffly just inside the kitchen entrance.
“Hi love,” the brunette smiles, drying her hands. “Did they clear you for active duty?”
The red head shakes her head no. She keeps her eyes low, unable to look at her wife.
Wanda’s shoulders drop. She knows that her wife was very much hoping to be cleared. “Well, what did they say?”
Natasha doesn’t answer, looking at the ground intently. Her hands fiddle nervously with a small piece of paper she carried in.
“Baby, what did they say?”
Silence stretches between them, and its eating Wanda alive.
The younger woman crosses the room taking her wife’s face into her hands, lifting it so they are looking in each other’s eyes. The glossy redness of the red head’s eyes ignites a further panic in her.
“Natasha, you’re scaring me. What is it?”
She doesn’t speak. She only looks down to the paper in her hands and raises it to display to her wife.
Wanda follows Natasha’s gaze down to her hands. She gasps and swears her heart stopped beating. Her mind is running away without her as she tries to comprehend what she is looking at.
It’s an ultrasound image of an unborn baby. A baby who looks pretty far along.
Wanda can clearly find the head, a torso of sorts, what looks to be the start of some arms and legs. There’s still a lot of development to happen, but this baby is much farther along than the one Wanda has inside of her. This baby is about the size Natasha’s would have been.
Wanda looks up; her eyes wide and dazed in shock, “this is from today?”
Natasha nods.
“…of you?”
She nods again.
The brunette stares back down to the image, “…but all of the tests…”
“False negatives,” the redhead speaks for the first time since she walked in the door.
“… and your period?” the younger woman takes the sonogram from her to examine closer.
“Spotting that is apparently very common.”
Wanda can’t take her eyes off the image, “how far along?”
“15 weeks,” Natasha holds her breath waiting for a response, but she gets none. The quiet is too much in her anxious state.
They had been trying for their third child for months, and this time Natasha wanted to carry the child.
The first attempt ended in tears when the red head got her period and the tests came back negative. It was hard for them both, but it was almost nothing compared to the second try a month later.
After the implantation, her period was late. She even got a positive test. They were so happy, ecstatic even, until it was all ripped away a week later.
Natasha began bleeding and every test after that was negative. They were both devastated beyond belief, Natasha most of all.
It was decided Wanda would try next, and she became pregnant after the first try.
They had believed both of Natasha’s attempts had failed. However, if Natasha is already 15 weeks along, the first attempt had to of been successful.
Now here they are both pregnant. That wasn’t the plan, and it had Natasha wallowing in worry of what her wife would think of the news.
“Please say something,” she begs.
Wanda doesn’t answer her directly, instead she drops to one knee and smiles happily, eye level with her wife’s stomach.
“You sneaky little thing,” she giddily addresses the very tiny human tucked away inside Natasha. “You’re gonna keep us on our toes, aren’t you?”
She presses a kiss to her wife’s stomach before standing to cup her cheeks and bring her in for a joyful kiss. She pulls away with a grin, “what else did they say?”
Natasha answers shakily, “that she’s due in y/b/m.”
Wanda melts instantly, “she? It’s a girl?” She couldn’t wipe the smile off of her face if she wanted to. That is until she sees that Natasha doesn’t seem to share in her joy, “what’s wrong? She’s healthy right?” She searches her wife’s eyes for an answer, “Is she ok? Are you ok?”
“We’re fine, we’re ok,” the redhead cuts off her wife’s worry spiral, “…its just… you’re ok… with this?”
“Ok?” Wanda asks incredulously, “what do you mean? Natasha, we mourned this baby. We grieved for her twice, and she came back to us. I am so much more than ok.” She strokes Natasha’s cheek and still finds hesitation, “what is it, love?”
The red head opens her mouth but struggles to find words, “…you’re pregnant, and I’m pregnant. We’re gonna have two babies.”
Wanda chuckles, “we have two babies. We’re about to have four. They’re gonna be only a couple months apart. They might as well be twins, and I think we handled that pretty well the last time, if I do say so myself.”
“Yeah, we did,” Natasha smiles. Her worry is beginning to morph into relief and joy. “… but we can’t both be on maternity leave. What are we gonna do?”
The brunette shushes her softly, “hey, it’ll be ok. You can work desk duty for as long as you can. If we need to pull from savings, we will. Plus, we still have the restaurant, and its doing well. We’ll make it work like we always do.” She pulls her wife into her arms.
Natasha returns the hug, holding Wanda as close as possible. She wonders how long they will be able to do this before baby bumps make it impossible. Bumps… plural. It sounds surreal.
Wanda pulls back to kiss her soundly. “Now, can we put aside the worry, and just celebrate this precious girl?”
Her wife grins and nods.
“Thank you,” she presses her forehead to Natasha’s, “and thank you for this gift.” She kneels again and slides a hand across her wife’s stomach, “even if you did hide her in there for almost 4 months.”
The red head laughs, “I hid nothing! All of the hiding was done by her, like she’s training to be a little secret agent.”
The pair share a content smile, then Wanda looks back to Natasha’s stomach.
“Our secret agent.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amused, Wanda rolls her eyes, “well little miss Secret Agent, you still have to sit at the table while we discuss the game plan for the day.”
After Y/n packs her violin back in its case, the brunette throws an arm around her daughter’s shoulder and walks her upstairs with Natasha following close behind.
When the three of them enter the dining room, the majority of the food is already claimed or eaten.
“I made them save some for you, Y/n,” Max says happily.
The mothers sit in the chairs in faux offense. “… and what about us?” Natasha asks playfully.
He blushes and looks at them sheepishly, “you too, moms.” They both send him a playful wink.
Y/n takes her spot between PJ and Anastasia. “Thanks bud, but I ate breakfast early today,” she smiles to her little brother.
“So, time for the game plan,” Wanda announces from her seat on the other side of Anastasia. “I’m working a bit later tonight than normal, so that will mix things up a little bit. Lena, Aunt Pepper is going to pick you up from school and take you to ballet with Morgan and drop you off at home after.”
The teen nods in between bites of her breakfast.
Natasha looks across the table, “P, no soccer today, right?”
“Nope, coach is on vacation, so we have the rest of the week off.”
“Ok, we need you to pick up Max from the middle school, then drop him and Alex off at swim practice. Those are your first marching orders,” she chuckles when he gives her a little salute. “Second, you need to go to the grade school to pick up the little twins.”
She then turns to the twin boys, “Billy, after chess club, wait for Tommy to finish track practice. He shouldn’t finish much after you. PJ should be there by the time you finish.”
Wanda eats the last few bites off her plate, then continues the plan for the afternoon. “Mama will get Anastasia from daycare, then pick up Alex and Max. Y/n, think you can walk to your lesson after school?”
Y/n looks up with a furrowed brow.
It isn’t a bad walk. Her coach lives in the neighborhood right next to the high school. It takes 15, max 20 minutes to walk there. The weather is supposed to be great all day long.
So why is she looking at her mothers like they’ve forgotten something?
The girl releases a breath and nods, deciding not to say anything.
“Alright, then we just need someone to pick her up after,” Wanda looks between the big twins, “you should both be home by then. I don’t care who, you can decide amongst yourselves.”
“I’ll do it,” Lena volunteers. She knows the second her brother gets home, 9 times out of 10, he starts some video game and doesn’t stop until moms make him.
“Thank you Lena,” Natasha smiles proudly.
Wanda looks around the table, “questions?”
Alex raises his hand slowly, “where do babies come from?”
PJ nearly spits out his water from laughing. The older children are either trying to hold in their laughter or staring at him in shock. The three youngest turn to their mothers with expressions of genuine curiosity.
Wanda squints her eyes in her son’s direction, “any real questions?”
“Mommy, where do babies come from?” the question is repeated in the innocent voice of her three year old.
Natasha steps in, picking up the toddler from her booster seat, “we will talk about that when you are bigger.” She sets the girl on her hip wiping her face with a napkin. She turns back to the table and addresses the rest of her family, “alright team, lets go. Everyone put their dishes in the dishwasher and help clean up the rest. Grab your backpacks and bags, and get to the door. I want everyone in a car in 15 minutes. Ok?”
A chorus of “ok” and “yes mam” bounces off the walls, and they all get moving to do as they were told.
She sets the toddler down to run and grab her daycare bag. She gathers Anastasia’s and her own dishes to take care of.
Wanda checks Ana’s daycare bag one last time, before sending the girl out to her car with Max. “You two wait for me by the car. I’ll be right there.”
The morning carpool arrangement is a delicate balance. Wanda takes Anastasia to daycare and Max to the middle school because they are both closer to her campus. Natasha can easily drop off the little twins at the grade school on her way to the station. While the four big kids pile into a car and drive themselves to the high school.
“It’s my turn.”
Wanda can hear footsteps along with the bickering of her oldest children approaching from behind.
“No, its not,” PJ counters, “I have the keys, so I’m driving.”
Their mother turns to face them, quickly plucking the car keys from her son’s hand. She holds them up for them both to see.
She looks to PJ, “did you finish all of your homework?”
“Of course.”
Wanda turns to Lena, “ballet bag?” The girl holds up the bag as a confirmation. “Good,” her mother nods and then looks between the two of them. “Now, who drove yesterday?”
Their reactions are simultaneous, almost like they are twins or something. Lena points to her brother while he shakes his head and tries to playfully smile his way out of this one.
“Well then,” Wanda hands the keys to her daughter, “be safe, no texting while you’re driving. Do you hear me?”
Lena smirks victoriously in her brother’s direction. “Yes mam,” she takes the keys and starts walking out of the house.
“Sorry bud,” Wanda pats PJ on the cheek before nudging him towards the door. “Have a good day, I love you,” she calls to them both, and they repeat it back to her, ‘love you too, 25/8.’
Natasha then approaches the door with the little twins hot on her trail.
“Can we ride with the blue lights?” Billy asks excitedly.
She stops in front of her wife, but continues to look to the boys, “you two ask me every morning, and what is the answer every morning?”
They both fold their hands together and put on their best pout faces. “Pleeeaaassse,” they beg in unison.
The officer tries to stand her ground, but their cuteness cracks her resolve. She smiles, “fine, but you get 20 seconds in the driveway before we leave.”
The boys jump in victory, bounding out the front door without another look back.
“I love you too,” Wanda playfully calls after them.
“Well, I love you,” Natasha pulls her wife close and leans in to press their lips together.
“Gross,” a voice sounds from behind them.
They chuckle at their second interrupted kiss for the morning. In the direction of the voice, they see Alex at the bottom of the stairs carrying his backpack and swim bag. Y/n comes in from the living room, and they both make their way to the door.
“Everything in your swim bag?” Natasha asks Alex as he passes.
“Everything,” he taps the duffel hanging from his shoulder. Y/n is right behind him.
Wanda asks, “Y/n baby, you have your violin?”
The girl holds up the case, but before she can say anything, her brother is chiming in.
“Of course, she has the violin,” he smirks in the doorway, “its surgically attached to her arm.”
Y/n rolls her eyes and pushes him through the doorframe, “ha, ha, ha, everybody’s got jokes.” She throws a “bye moms” over her shoulder.
“We love you,” Natasha and Wanda both say at the same time.
Both teens stop and turn in unison, “25/8.”
The mothers smile and nod, “25/8.”
“Now where were we?” the officer turns back to her wife.
Wanda leans in, “I think it was a little like this.” Their lips meet in the middle, and they savor the short moment as long as they can.  When they break the kiss, they rest their foreheads together. “Please be safe,” the brunette asks quietly.
It’s a dangerous job. One that keeps Wanda constantly dreading that call.
“I will,” Natasha reassures her with a stroke of her cheek, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
They share one more, quick kiss, before they depart, going separate ways to officially begin the day.

i was wondering if you could write a gn!little!reader x fem marvel character of your choice? like maybe r is having a rough day and struggling to slip so she raps them up in a fuzzy blanket and just reminds r that they will always be loved/safe while mama is around. if not that's cool!

Little reader x Mama Natasha Romanoff
Warnings: I don't think there are any
A/n: it's shorter than what I was going for, but I hope you like it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You've been all around the compound today, trying to calm your mind and let it choose which mindset to stay with. But ultimately, it hasn't worked.
When you were washing some dishes after baking some cookies with Peter before his patrol, your earbud wires kept getting caught on the cupboard handles underneath the sink. That made you get annoyed easily, because everything without doubt, both the earbuds fell out of your ears and almost landed in the soapy water. It made you want to cry, though decided against it.
And then when you tried reading a book to calm down, all the words on the pages mixed together, making your head feel dizzy.
You ended up on your and Nat's bed, face plunged into the comforter, and lying on your tummy.
Nat walked into the room and saw your back rising and falling. She sat down next to you, placing a hand on your back.
"You alright, hun?" She asks softly, to which you shake your head.
"Can't slip into headspace" You looked up and mumbled out.
"Hmm, you want some help?" She rubs her hand up and down your back. "Yes please," you answer her quietly.
"Alright." She sat at the head of the bed, grabbed the light grey fuzzy blanket that was laying at the side of the bed, and nodded, for you to crawl over to her.
You quickly went over and laid in her arms as she wrapped the blanket around you. When you nuzzled your head into her chest, she started to play with your hair.
"You know that you're always going to be safe in my arms, you can come to get me whenever you feel like you're slipping or you can't, or even if you just need me," she told you.
You looked up at her, hands gripped on to the fuzzy material. You felt the familiar feeling of slipping into your younger headspace and felt so much more calm than before.
"Yeah, Mama. Alway here" you told your Mama before snuggling back into her warm chest. She leaned down and kissed the top of your head, which emitted a tiny giggle from you.
"Put a jacket on, it’s cold outside!"
momma!nat x daughter!reader
You and your mom, Natasha Romanoff, lived happily in a small house near the avengers tower, where she worked.
It was the middle of winter, and you just woke up. As you rised from your bed, you saw, through the window in your room, everything was white outside. It had snowed! You loved snow. Filled with excitement, you quickly got out of bed and dressed up. You ran downstairs, to the kitchen, where your mom was, drinking her coffee.
"Morning mama! It snowed! It snowed!" you exclaimed, overly excited to go out and play in the snow. Natasha laughed at your words; you were so adorable.
"I saw that, love. But before you go outside don't forget to grab a jacke-" she didn't get to finish her sentence as you ran outside and laid in the snow. Gosh, you loved the snow so much! Everything around you was white and poofy, the whole yard was full of snow! You couldn't even see the grass or the leaves that fell during autumn. The winter breeze was chilly, but you liked it - it made you feel alive. The snow was thick, perfect for making snow angels. It was all so magical!
Caught up with playing in the snow, you didn't even realise Natasha was now shouting to you from the front door of the house. You got up from the floor, looking in the direction of her voice.
"Put a jacket on, it's cold outside!" her tone was nice and calm - she loved seeing you so happy; but she couldn't risk you getting sick.
"In a minute mama, the snow is perfect!" you shouted back to her. She nodded at your words and got inside the house.
A few minutes passed and you got up from the floor that was covered in snow and started to walk towards the house.
After getting your jacket, as Nat wanted, you got back to playing in the snow. The snow was amazing and this day was even better!
“I think I owe her that at least.”
“I’ll start planning!”
“No, no I am not letting you plan any part of this!”
“It’ll be lovely.” Maria kissed her girlfriend good bye and left Natasha speechless.
-
“Mom…?” You emphasized dramatically down the corridors of the Avengers compound. “Mom-” you turned a corner, almost bumping into, well, Maria Hill. Your mom’s girlfriend, who you liked and the relationship wasn’t new to you so it wasn’t as awkward as it use to be around her. “Hey, Miss Hill,” Except for that. That made things unnecessarily awkward. “Have you seen my mom?”
“Hello, Y/n, yes she is up in the kitchen.” The moment being stretched out by neither of you moving away to continue down your separate paths. You didn't have anything else to say, but the second you started to move she stuttered saying, “Hey- So- Y/n,” You turned back to her, “ You excited for your birthday?”
“Yeah I am, thanks.” And with that you were gone.
Before Maria and Natasha had become “a thing” you would joke around with the commander when going on mission or seeing her around the compound. So now that the demeanor between the both of you is very different, neither of you knows how to get back to normal. You hadn’t thought about it for too long at one time.
Her and mom might not even last, so what does it matter.
-
“Happy birthday, pretty girl!” Natasha kissed your cheek as you woke up to her voice. “Look whos awake,” You breathed in and rolled into her arms. “Hu- Hi my sweets, are you hungry. Wanda made your favorite.” Instantly smiling, you bring your mom into a hug.
“Thank you, thank you, mama.”
“Your welcome,” she kissed your forehead, “Tell your aunt the same.”
“Mhm.”
“I’ll see you down there?”
“Yes.”
-
“Happy birthday Y/n!” Wanda exclaimed as you walked in the kitchen, Sam and Bucky joining in, in wishing you a good birthday. Even Thor hoped your birthday would be godly. You ate and thanked your aunt for the food, then set out to find your mother for your birthday party. You walked down the halls in search of the distant music, or bumping into bruce racing to get to your party before you could find it. While all you found was Natasha comforting her girlfriend of your presence.
“Hasn’t been so long.”
“It’s been long enough.”
“She’ll come around.
“I don’t know, Nat. She-”
“Look at me, Maria. I will have a chat with my daughter about this. Y/n, likes you, I know she does. I guess this is just still new to her.” You had heard enough, and was walking away, trying to take extra long to “find” the party itself, as it seemed they needed a minute. Thus, when walking down halls feeling guilty and having an accused look on your face, of course it was Bruce to find you. He couldn’t really tell what you were feeling, but knew it had a sort of weight to it.
“You find the extravaganza, yet, kid?” He tried a smile and you returned it, softly.
“Not yet, but by the way your headed, it seems I’m going the wrong direction.”
“Maybe,” You knew you were, but Bruce didn’t, “maybe not.” A light beat passed before he went on. “Walk with me?” He started walking and you kept up with him at his right side.
“You make anything for the party?” You asked, as Bruce and Tony usually teamed up to make you a cool invention each year.
“You’ll have to wait and see.” You groaned, wanting him to just tell you.
“Come on-”
“I am not saying a word, Y/n.”
“Alright, fine. Bruce, can I ask your opinion.”
“Sure.”
“What do you think about mom and Maria?” Bruce’s eyes furrowed, as he walked on. He wasn’t sure. He hadn’t thought to much on the idea.
“Well, their dating.”
“Everyone knows that, fool. Do you think they are gonna last?” Contemplating your words, he turns to you.
“I can’t answer that, all I know is that they are a good couple right now, how am I supposed to know if they will be in a year, or 10 years. I am not sure if Natasha can even answer that one for you, kid.” He finished and saw the expression on your face, then putting am arm around your shoulders, forcing you to move with him. “Lets go have a great party, okay?’
“Yeah, okay.”
“It is your Birthday, after all!”
-
Walking into the party, where everyone and everything was setting up to look like an extravagant birthday card, you smiled at your family’s hard work..
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N!!” They all shouted at somewhat of the same time. You cut the cake, and opened presents, Natasha took your picture with all the family behind you, Thor picked you up in a tight but loving hug, Tony helped you blow out your candles, calling you old and Bruce showed you the invention he and Tony had worked on. A new suit, just for you.
“MOM! TONY AND BRUCE GOT ME A NEW SUIT.” You shouted across the room. Natasha saw how excited you were, and so decided she would yell at the men later, about the safety of her daughter. Right now was her birthday.
“That’s wonderful! You’ll have to wear it to training.”
-
Once the late afternoon had started, there was no stopping it or Avengers becoming tired from all the birthday happenings. And while laying on the couch with your mom, watching some show, you turned to her and asked about Maria and her, letting her know about the awkward situation that had gone on earlier.
“Maria isn’t going anywhere, sweetheart.” Your eyes wandered towards commander Hill.
“But what about me?
“What about you, baby?
“I don’t know, when are we gonna hang out? Ever?” Natasha’s eyes fluttered, not realizing what you had been feeling.
“We will hang out all the time. She could never take me away from you baby, okay?” You just nod, and go in for a hug. “Come on, babe, lets go celebrate my little widow.”
smoke signals
request: wandanat watching reader doing some stuff like playing video games or watching fav show and look really excited and happy about something and they just feel so happy to have r in their lifes so they give her so much hugs and kisses and r really surprised but she still tell them that she loves them too really a lot and just so much fluff
summary: as adopted!reader excitedly sits down to watch the new episode of her favorite show, wanda and natasha reflect on how lucky they are to have a daughter like you.
author’s note: apologize for this taking so long for me to write, it’s not great but i hope you like it anon. so sorry if it’s a little emotional 😣 this is also lightly based off of smoke signals by phoebe bridgers !
pairings: mama!wanda + mama!nat x adopted daughter!reader
warnings: basically none, this is just pure fluff. there are gendered terms used (girl).
grabbing your bowl of popcorn from the microwave, you dashed into the living room, shaking out of pure excitement. almost completely ignoring your two moms peacefully sitting on the couch, deep in conversation it seemed, you snatched the remote and scrambled to switch to your favorite channel on the tv as you squeezed in between the two of them.
“woah there, what’s got you so excited sweetheart?”, natasha giggles, playfully rubbing your shoulder. “it’s been a whole week since i’ve seen this show, and there’s a new episode tonight. you wouldn’t believe the cliffhanger i got left on, i need to see this.”
you feel two pairs of eyes glued to your smiling face, burning your skin with their stares. “sorry, did you two want the tv? if you did you’re just going to have to wait, i can’t wait any longer to see this,” you joked, mouth full of burning hot popcorn.
wanda lovingly runs her hand through your hair, natasha still rubbing your shoulder. “no no, we’re alright. you’re happy, and that’s all that matters to your mom and i,” wanda says softly, lips forming a smile. “also, let that popcorn cool down before you eat it. i wouldn’t want you burning your mouth.”
wanda and natasha, as much as you wish they were, were not your biological parents. you knew you had a number of dreadful memories before they’d adopted you, but you were never able to quite recall them; making so many unforgettable memories with wanda and natasha seemed to push all the bad away.
you were completely zoned out, forgetting about the world around you. somehow you’d completely forgotten about your favorite show playing; except, this was almost better. you couldn’t help but think about all the happiness your moms had given you. the love they had given. they had swooped in and saved you.
for just a brief moment, you were lost in the depths of happy memories; until natasha snapped you out of it.
“hey, y/n,” she said gently, turning to face you completely. she stretches her free hand across your body to grab wanda’s, her deep green eyes staring into yours. “your mom and i… we’ve never been so lucky. this family we’ve built, this beautiful, smart girl we helped to raise. you are our everything, y/n. and we will spend the rest of our lives proving that to you.”
for the first time in your life, the pool of tears welling up in your eyes weren’t out of misery or despair, but rather happiness. you shifted your gaze to wanda, who was still playing with the ends of your hair.
she gently pulls you into her arms, placing a kiss on the top of your head. “we love you, more than you could ever know y/n.” you couldn’t help the tears falling out of your eyes as natasha crawled on top of you, wrapping her arms around you and wanda.
the three of you didn’t move an inch for at least an hour, simply enjoying each other’s comfort as a family. “you know, you two are sensitive,” you joked, still fighting tears. “and i didn’t even get to watch my show. when i’m cranky tomorrow, you’ll know who’s fault it is.” no response from either side.
furrowing your brows, you looked at each of your moms; as you suspected, both sound asleep in your embrace. you let out a soft giggle, tucking your head back into the comfort of wanda’s chest.
you felt that same feeling of happiness from earlier crawl back into your brain, consuming your thoughts entirely. your eyes slowly shut, as you finally drifted off to sleep. you were so lucky to have natasha and wanda as your forever parents, and you wouldn’t have traded them for a thing in the world.
Tumblr media
*GIF not mine*
Summary: While on Earth 717, they start to plan an operation to get you back; on Earth 616, everyone want to know who you are but, you just want to go home and for this, you'll have to ask the help of one of the last person you want to see right now.
Pairing in this chapter: Natasha Romanoff x Teen!Reader; Avenger x Teen!Reader; Doctor Strange x Teen!Reader; America Chavez x Teen!Reader; Peter Parker x Teen!Reader; (variant)WandaNat & family
chapter two | serie masterlist | chapter four
--------
Okay it was the only thing you did want to deal with. You just looked at them for a moment, you needed to think about a name right now. "Uh...Scarlet." you replied more like a question. They clearly doubted that but it's not like you could tell them who you were. Right now you just needed to not bring more questions and quickly came back in the future.
At your reply, Natasha scoffed and you looked at her with a sad look. The last argument you had with your moms was still recent in your mind but she didn't have to know that, at least not yet.
"Scarlet hum? Like the Scarlet Wi-" Sam tried to ask but you cut him off.
"No, definitely no. It's Scarlet like Scarlet Widow." you said proudly and everyone looked at you confused.
"Widow? Like the Black Widow?" Bucky asked and you sighed.
"No. Like the Scarlet Widow." you reply harshly.
"Okay, okay. Miss, Scarlet what do you want?" Strange asked, visibly annoyed by your interaction with the two men.
"I want to go back home." you replied.
"And where are you from?" he asked.
"Really far from here." Nobody seemed convinced.
"And where did you find this?" Natasha spoke for the first time and showed you your widow's bites.
"Oh thank God, you found them. Morgan would kill me if I lost them." you replied and the two teens chuckled at your attitude.
"You know it's not something a kid should have." Tony said and you rolled your eyes.
"I'm 18, so, technically I'm not a kid anymore and I have used this for nearly three years now so yeah how dangerous they could be." you said looking at the red headed when you finished your sentence.
"But they didn't work." Natasha said
"Yeah I know that's why I'm here. I need to repair them even if I don't really know how. I need to send a signal to the....to my team and to let them know I'm alright." you said and tried to be the most convincing possible.
"But we have some questions before." Steve said and you rolled your eyes.
"Birthday?" the Russian asked but you didn't reply. You can't tell them you were technically born aly six years ago. "Okay you don't want to reply." she sighed. "Parent's name?" she asked. You just stare at her but you didn't said anything. "Okay, another question. Why do you have the same power as Wanda Maximoff?" she asked.
You played with your fingers and when they think you'll finally reply you wiped their hope. "Can I talk to my lawyer?" you asked and they all exchanged a look.
Tony grabbed a phone and looked at you "Who are they?" he asked and you bit your cheek.
"Clint Barton." you replied and they were all confused. "You know Hawkeye, the Avengers" you added and that didn't make disappear their surprise.
Okay even in your univers Clint didn't really learnt anything about laws but if there is one person you wanted to confess anything it was him. Morgan is only 6 years old in 2024; your aunts are very good friends but you knew they couldn't really keep this to themself and for your uncle it's sure he could talk with your mom so he was the safe option.
Natasha just glared at you, it was clear that she couldn't trust you; she didn't say anything and just left quickly followed by the winter soldier. "Did I say something wrong?" you asked Peter.
"Honestly I don't know. She seems a little upset but I think she will call him." he replied.
"Oh okay, but why did the Snowman soldier follow her?" you asked and Amercia chuckled at the shity nickname.
"I'm not sure but everyone says there is something between them." Peter whispered and you frowned your eyebrows. Yeah of course your mom is good friends with Bucky but she's married to a certain Sokovian witch, right? The boy noticed your face and added in a whisper "You know they are a thing. Like they date each other."
"What??!" you yelled and the adults stopped their conversation to look at you. "No it's impossible. Are you sure about that?" you asked a little quietly.
"Yeah it's like everywhere on the internet." he replied casually.
"But it's impossible I need to...I mean I ship her with Wanda." you corrected yourself and ignored America who raised her eyebrows to you.
"Sorry not sorry. I think you missed a lot of things because right now I don't think it could have anything between her and Wanda." he said and when you wanted to ask why Natasha came back.
Everyone looked at her but she focused her gaze on you and it remembered you all the time she was about to ground you. "He will be here tomorrow." she informed you and you nodded. "We will let see you tomorrow. Steve will bring you your lunch later." she said and left.
“So I think we can go back from where we came too.” Strange added.
“No!” you stopped him. “Actually I’ll need your help to go back to my home.” you informed him.
“And what makes you think I will want to help a perfect stranger who I don’t know her name?” he asked you.
“Because…you’re an avenger and the Avengers help the ones who need it.” you said. “And also because you’re one of the most powerful users of magic here, and I’m pretty sure my problem needs magic.” you added.
“I’m the supreme sorcerer, I’m not ‘one of the most powerful magic users here’. I’m the most powerful.” he explained and you rolled your eyes.
“Okay if you want but I think you forgot Wanda. She can alternate reality and she’s like the most powerful witch in this world, even if I’m the second one.” you said and America flinched a little. The action was unnoticed by everyone in the room except you but you didn’t find the need to ask her about that.
“Yeah, but I don’t think she would be able to help you for a moment.” the sorcerer said before leaving with the two teens before you could reply.
In the afternoon Steve came back to the kitchen with an empty plate. "She didn't say anything, I think she doesn't want to talk to anyone except Clint." he said and Natasha just nodded.
"Do you think it's a good idea to let her speak with Clint? She didn't look like someone we can trust." Sam asked.
"I don't trust her." the Russian said and Bucky looked at her confused. "I don't know why she wants to talk to Clint but she's silly if she thinks he will not tell me what she wants to keep hidden from us." she explained.
Tony came just after and throw your widow's bite on the redhead's laps she looked confused. "Look at them" she looked at them and then at the billionaire again. "More carefully." he said and she inspected them. She was about to give up until she found it, a little 'Stark Industrie' logo.
"But how?" she asked and Tony took back the weapons.
"I don't know but I think it's not the last secret this little thing hides." he said and went back to his lab.
--------
[Earth 717 - the Tower]
Tony was zoning out in the kitchen with a coffee cup in his hand, neither him or his daughter had a proper night. He was too far in his mind to hear the footsteps, he came back to reality when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hey Tony, are you alright?" Steve asked.
The billionaire placed the cup on the kitchen counter, "Honestly no" he admitted "I don't know what to do. We try anything Steve, we search in the multiverse. We used the power of America to help us but nothing worked." he said.
"I think you should try to sleep, after a good nap you will try again and we will help you." the super soldier saif and gave him a reassuring smile and led him in a bedroom.
~~~~
In your tower’s bedroom Morgan was here with Ava, your other best friend, she told her everything.
"Wait hold on, you are telling me that the most reckless person we know is lost somewhere in the multiverse?" Ava asked and Morgan nodded, "wow, it's the most Y/n-ish thing she ever did" she joked and the little Stark laughed. "But how are you? You don't look good so I think you stayed up all night with your dad to find a soluce."
"Yeah but it's more complicated than we thought."
"I don't even want to try to imagine all you did."
"We did a lot of things but it doesn't really matter we didn't find her."
"Hey don't say that you'll find her, like you always did. And she can't miss the gender reveal party, I'm sure she'll come back soon."
"Talking about that, how is my little buddy?"
"They are pretty good but I think I'm not ready for the next few months."
"Don't worry we will be here, like always."
'Ava was in front of your door, she was nervous but after five more minutes she knocked on the door. She didn't have to wait too long before Wanda opened the door.
"Hey Ava how are you?" she asked and your best friend almost cried at the question.
"Very good and you aunty Wanda?" she replied and even if your mom sensed it was a lie she didn't push her.
"Very well thank you. Y/n and Morgan are in her bedroom." she said and took a step aside to let the teenager in. Ava thanks her and after quickly greeting Natasha she rushed to your bedroom; she didn't knock and just enter and close the door quickly behind her.
You were playing Mario Kart with Morgan, you sprained your ankle at your last mission so you can't really go out. Your other best friend sat on the bed and you paused the game to look at her; she texted you two hours earlier to let you know she had to talk to you and Morgan and that's why everyone was there.
"Girls I fucked up" she started and the two of you exchange a concern look.
"Did you crash your mom's car? Don't worry my dad can get you a new." Morgan said but the other girl shook her head.
"Did you burn your house? It's okay, I'm sure my mama can reverse the thing." you said but she shook her head again.
"Okay now you start to worry us. What's happen?" Morgan asked. Ava took a deep breath and tears almost fell on her cheeks.
"Guys, I'm pregnant." she announced and she would look at your two faces if she was not too anxious about the news.
"You're WHAT?" you both yelled, in the living room Natasha looked at Wanda a little confused, her wife sensed you were shocked, happy and worried at the same time but she didn't know why. "From who? Since when? And most importantly does your mom know?" you asked her together.
"From Marcus of course, you know I'd never cheat on him. I've known about it since yesterday. And yes my mom knows, she's actually the one who encouraged me to tell you." she replied and you smiled.
"It's awesome Ava you always wanted to be a mom." you said and you hugged her tightly but you pulled back she was crying.
"Hey baby girl, what's wrong?" Morgan asked her.
"My mom was happy, she said she will help me. But him..." she couldn't finish her answer before she cried again.
"What did he say?" Morgan asked.
"He said he doesn't want to have a kid now and he broke up with me." she said.
"Honestly I understand him." You said "It's not easy to raise a child even more when we are only 18 but don't worry we will be here with you and I'm sure my moms would be more than happy to help you." you explained and she finally smiled.
~~~
You came back from Ava's first echography. The three of you were excited when you opened the door of your home. You quickly went to the kitchen with your friend where your moms were.
"Hi moms" you said and they looked at you.
"Hi girls, you seemed excited" Wanda said and Ava nodded.
"Mama, do you still have the book on pregnancy?" you asked and Natasha choked on her coffee. "That's not for me." you reassured them.
The Russian scanned your friend and lent her gaze on Ava who just waved shyly. "Wait no. Not you." Natasha said and Wanda looked at your friend confused.
"Yes it's me. I'm pregnant" she said and your moms started to cry and gave her a group hug.
"But how? I remember the first time Y/n brought you here after school. You were so tiny, you were a baby and now…" Wanda said and Morgan and you laughed at her attitude. Your moms cried, they saw Ava like her daughter too like Morgan or your cousin Luna.
"Time flies aunty Wanda" she replied and everybody laughed.'
Morgan yawned and Ava brought back to reality, "You need to sleep, I'll be here with you don't worry." she said and the young Stark nodded before she laid on your bed and started to sleep.
[Earth 616 - Tower, the next day]
"Miss Scarlet, Mr, Barton is here." Friday said. You were watching a series after you convinced Tony to let you have a Netflix account. When you turned your head you saw Clint and Natasha, they both had a silent discussion before the man looked at you. He didn't make you wait and open the door to enter, the redhead was just behind him.
He sat in front of you and you just looked at Nat to wait until she left but she didn't. Fortunately for you the archer seemed to understand. "I think I heard Tiny said he would need your help with something" he said to his best friend and she finally seemed to notice and leave. "So, hi, I'm CLint but it seems you already know that." he said and you nodded. "So who are you?"
You took a deep breath and looked at him. "Okay, I know what I'm about to say would be weird but I need you to trust me." you said and he frowned his eyebrows. "You're the only one who can help me and keep my secret safe until I'm back home."
"And what tell you I would not tell you anything?" he asked.
"Because you're Clint Barton, I know exactly what you're capable of and I know you'll never tell what I'll tell you." you replied.
"You seem to trust me a lot but I don't know you."
"That's because my moms do."
"Your moms?"
"Yeah, you're the first who trusted them and allowed them to try to have a better life and change who they were." you declared but he didn't reply. "Okay, I'm Y/n Maximoff-Romanoff, and my moms are Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff." you said and his jaw dropped.
"But how can you? Natasha..."
"Can't have babies, I know. It's Wanda who carried me." you explained.
"But why do you tell me this? Why not Natasha or Wanda?" he asked.
"Oh I don't know because it seems a little weird to appear from nowhere and suddenly say 'Hey, I'm your daughter from the future. I don't know why I'm here but I can't go back home. Oh and I love your hair cut by the way.' See, it seems weird." you explained.
"Wait, you're from the future?" he asked.
"Yes, how do you think I could be so old when my mom only met 12 years ago?" you replied.
"You really talk like a Romanoff." he said and you smiled.
"Thanks, I think it's one of the best things someone said to me." you replied honestly.
"But now I start to think, how could I help you?"
"I just need you to fix my widow's bite and send a signal to Morgan." you replied.
"I stop you kid, I'm not the best with technology. And wait Nat let you use widow's bite?" he asked, visibly shocked.
"Technically, she didn't let me but I'm the scarlet widow and a widow without a widow's bite it's weird." you replied.
"Scarlet Widow?" he raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah because of my magic" you replied.
"Not because of something else?"
"Why do everyone think I chose this because of my mom?"
“Because you have the same habit of playing with your hands when you’re nervous,” he pointed at your hands. Honestly you didn’t realize you were nervous until her said it. “But what tell you Natasha didn’t put a mic on me?” he asked.
“Would you let her if she asked you?” he seemed to think about it before he shook his head. “See? Now I need your help, I’ll explain what to do.” you started but he cut you off.
“Sorry but you know that they can record us with Friday?” he asked but you smirked
“I’m the best friend of the little genius Morgan Stark, I know how to hack Friday easily.” you said proudly.
“Okay you’re really Nat’s daughter.” he said and you laughed. After twenty big minutes he finally accepted to keep your secret and help but with the condition to tell him all you know about the future partners of Lila, just to be prepared.
But when he made his way to the lab he was greeted by the last person who could possibly be there. “Oh Wanda, it’s a surprise to see you here.” he said. The Sokovian turned around at his voice, she seemed very tired and sad but she was like that since the incident with America.
“Hi Clint, uh- yeah, Fury sent me someone to tell me that the Avenger wanted to talk with me.” she said but didn’t make eye contact with the archer.
“It’s…nice to see you again…I suppose.” he said, clearly unsure if that was a good or a bad news.
“Oh you don’t have to act like this, I’ll just talk with them and go away as soon as possible.”
“Uh, I think you should be stay a little I mean you should have a lot to say with anyone…I really want to stay but I have something to do so, see you later.” he said and run in the lab before she could reply
In the Lab Clint saw Natasha and Tony, they were talking about something and he wasn’t focus on the conversation when he saw this. Your widow’s bites were on the table in front of the duo and according to the billionaire's face, it was something that even him couldn’t understand.
“Does anyone know why Wanda is here?” Barton said and gained the attention of his two teammates.
“Steve wants to recruit her back and according to Fury, I’m not qualified enough to oppose. And that even if that means to let a woman who attempted to kill a little girl in my tower.” he explained and the Russian sighed.
“Don’t listen to him; she’s here because we need her for any potential new menace.” she replied.
“You act like that because you don’t have children, Romanoff, but I’m pretty excited to know how you’ll act when she would harm your little copycat. Talking about her, what did she tell you?”
“She just said she needs our help to go back to her home. I think we can try to help her, she didn’t look like a threat or anything.” Clint explained and Natasha looked at him suspiciously. “And what is it?” he asked, pointing the device on the table.
“A little from our little guest.” Tony said, and Nat rolled her eyes. “I don’t know who did this but it’s a genius. There are a lot of gadgets in only one.” he added.
“Can I see it?” the archer said and took them before they could reply. He examined the thing while remembering what you said about how to send a signal discreetly. “And what is this button?” he asked, pushing it.
“I don’t know but it seems that nothing works.” Natasha said and her best friend hummed before he put your weapons down and took a step away.
[Earth 717]
Wanda was sitting on the couch in the living room, she stared at the window. The sun started to set again and you were not here. She came out for her trance when she heard footsteps behind her, she turned round to meet the green eyes she loved so much. Natasha didn’t say anything, she just sat beside her wife and took her in her arms. It was always like this, when the Sokovian felt sad, empty or both; her wife would just hold her tight to remind her that she was not alone. They never end this habit even after your birth and when you were the reason she felt like this.
There was a comfy silence until Morgan entered the room visibly in a rush. “We have a signal.” she said and your moms didn’t wait before following her in her lab. “It’s not a big one so we think she sent it in a while now.” the young Stark explained when they were in the Lab with everyone.
“Like we excepted the signal don’t come from anywhere in our universe, but I traced it and I found the location.” Tony said while the screen showed a lot of earth planets until it stopped on one of them, he zoomed and a signal appeared on the screen. “Universe 616, I’ll do some research to know where exactly it’s from.”
The room was drowned in the silence and noise of the keyboard until they stopped. “Got this.” he said and everyone looked at the screen. “New York, from what seems to be the rest of an Avengers’ tower.” he explained.
“I can go now.” America said.
“No, we come with you.” Wanda said.
“Wanda, you retired from a while now you should let them go.” Tony said but the Sokovian didn’t change her mind.
“It’s my baby so, of course we come. I don’t want to hear anything, I should be there to protect her the first time.” she said and nobody wanted to argue. After she materialized her and Nat's suit, America opened a portal and they crossed it.
-------
[Earth 616, 2036]
On the other side of the portal, the three were ready to fight anyone who would face them but fortunately or unfortunately, there was nobody.
“Are you sure we’re in the right place Amrica, because it doesn’t seem to have a soul?” Natasha said while looking everywhere for a sign of you.
“Yeah, I came here a while ago but it was a decade prior.” she said and the woman nodded.
“I think we should split up to find her.” the red head proposed but she was quickly stopped by her wife.
“No, it’s not right.” Wanda said and the two other women looked at her.
“What’s happening Wanda?” the younger asked.
“She’s not here.” your mama whispered. “I can’t feel her, she’s not here.” she repeated louder.
“Hey honey, it’s okay, maybe it’s just because we’re in another universe so your powers don’t work.” Natasha tried to reassure her wife (or herself). “Let’s try to search a little.” she proposed and even if Wanda didn’t think it was a good idea she couldn't say ‘no’ when her wife looked so desperate.
Unfortunately for them after three hours of research and a world tour for Wanda in this universers they couldn’t find you. “I think we should go back now. We will tell Morgan to affinate her research the next time.” America proposed and even if they didn’t want to, your moms just nodded and after crossing another portal they were back home.
--------
[Earth 717]
When they came back everyone was expecting to see you but when they saw their faces, they knew.
“It’s impossible.” Morgan said before felling apart. You were not back, not yet.
Wanda ticked the third mental box off her list and clapped slightly to herself, closing the avenger's lunch box and reaching in the fridge for a mango juice.
Right as she placed the beverage beside the small water bottle she had just gotten, silent footsteps that she almost didn't hear, caught her attention.
A loud gasp escaped her at the sight that greeted her when she turned around.
"Who is the cutest little bunny in the world? I'm not letting you leave the house like this, everyone is gonna be head over heels for you." She reached the little four-year-old girl by the entrance of the kitchen area and picked her up.
"Mommy." Little Elizabeth whined and tried to hide her reddened cheeks by burying her face in her mother's neck.
"Aww, my baby." Wanda rubbed her daughter's back soothingly, knowing the girl was shy and despised the feeling of blushing.
Walking to the counter again, the witch let her daughter rest in her arms while she clung to the warm and calming feeling it brought her. She hummed a soft tune under her breath, finishing up her daughter's launch.
She was new at this, so she hoped Elizabeth wouldn't get hungry during the day and run out of food.
"Mommy loves you, bunny. You know?"
Wanda heard a soft little humming sound of confirmation in her ear and smiled at how cute her daughter was.
Just thinking about the fact that today was Eli's first day of school almost brought tears to her eyes.
It seemed as if yesterday Wanda was rocking her back and forth for the first time in the fancy private hospital room Nat had booked.
The spy wouldn't accept anything other than the best for Wanda and their daughter.
That feeling was maintained as their daughter grew up. Natasha wanted the best quality clothes, toys, food, etc. Whatever was for their daughter had to be checked by either Wanda or Natasha first. The protectionism over their child took some time but eventually eased up when it came to the rest of the Avengers.
Now Eli would be calling the rest of the group aunties and uncles as if it was the most natural thing in the world. It always made everyone feel like a real family. Like they weren't alone.
The child's fondness for the Avengers only continued growing with time.
Her favorite superhero was Iron Man, which greatly worked to inflate Tony's ego a whole lot. He even ended up accidentally boosting about it during an interview, and that is how the world found out the Black Widow and Scarlett Witch were together and had a young daughter.
Saying Natasha almost beat Tony up to pulp after that would be an understatement. Wanda had to use her powers to pry her wife away from the billionaire while also trying to keep herself in check and not attack him.
And when Wanda finally managed to calm Natasha down, the ringing of the elevator was heard and Tony dropped to the ground, trembling as the electricity from Yelena Belova's widow bites ran through his body.
Speaking of which...
"Mini-me! It's your very first school day, how excited are we?" The Russian accent rang throughout the room and made the child immediately perk up in her mother's arms.
Iron Man may be Elizabeth's favorite hero...but he didn't come close to reaching the love she felt for her aunt. It was unparalleled. She looked at the blonde spy as if the latter had hung the stars up in the sky for her.
"Aunty Lena!" Wanda carefully set her daughter back on the ground and watched with a smile as Yelena dropped her grocery bags on the floor and crouched down with open arms to meet and reciprocate her niece's affection.
"Oh my God, oh my God, little me...I'm gonna miss you so much. Who am I gonna take my naps with if you're at school? It's not fair!" Yelena closed her eyes tightly as she picked her niece up and held her in her arms, swinging her gently from side to side.
The adult's green eyes suddenly opened with a rather serious expression and she set her niece down in the kitchen isle to look at her. Eli's smile settled down at the unexpected change in her aunt's mood.
The Belova's hands rested on the isle, each one beside the sides of Eli's tights in a protective matter. "Okay, I wanna hear it. What do we do if some little freaks try to mess with my mini-me, Mini-me?"
"Tell you and you beat their bums." The response was immediately heard from the child and Wanda's eyes widened slightly before she shook her head with a chuckle.
Once again, Wanda almost missed the silent footsteps that walked into the kitchen area.
"Are you inciting my daughter to violence, Belova?" The sudden raspy voice startled the blonde woman but then made her roll her eyes as a smile grew on her face.
"Well, I'd be then one doing the beating...so no."
The response makes Natasha roll her eyes slightly before turning to her daughter, "Bubba, you ready to go?" She gently pat her daughter's head and walked to her wife, leaving a soft kiss on Wanda's lips.
Yelena's reaction was to cover her niece's eyes as they both simultaneously let out an 'ew'- something the blonde had very proudly taught the little girl.
"Go save yourself, Mini-me. I'll protect you." Yelena put her niece back on the ground and shielded her away from the view of her mothers kissing, acting as if they were some kind of enemy.
Elizabeth played along with a giggle and ran out of the kitchen area to her bedroom.
"The monster is coming for you!" Natasha suddenly ran after her daughter.
All Yelena and Wanda heard from their places was a loud squeal followed by adorable giggles that could make anyone swoon.
It didn't take long for the mother and daughter to be waltzing right back in, this time Elizabeth had her small vibrant green frog backpack and sat on top of her mother's shoulders.
The superspy had already made sure her daughter ate breakfast, brushed her teeth, and prepared her backpack for school. She was also the one who had prepared Eli's clothes- which consisted of a sleeved dress, with a long coat on top and boots. Her hair was pushed back into two braids that made her look even more adorable. She was ready.
"Remember baby, if you're feeling too hot ask the ladies there to help you take your jacket off. They are very nice and are there to help you."
Natasha repeated now for the third time.
Needless to say, she was nervous. The spy never thought she'd be able to have a child, so when Elizabeth was born, Nat treated her like the most precious diamond ever. Seeing her child leave for the first day of school made her heart clench at how fast her kid was growing up.
She was also worried about the fact that Elizabeth was younger than most of the other kids. Her birthday is late in December but they didn't want her to miss out on an entire year so she would start earlier than most of the other kids...Natasha's blood boiled at the simple thought of older kids trying to pick on her daughter.
'Positive thoughts, Natasha. Positive thoughts.' She inwardly repeated.
Wanda spent a good ten minutes saying goodbye to her daughter. She had a mission to prepare for so she couldn't take her to school, much to her dismay.
So she fussed over her daughter's outfit, explained and described every little food and ingredient in the lunch box, repeatedly kissed and hugged her, and ended by promising Elizabeth they'd have a Disney movie marathon and cuddle when she came back.
Natasha knew they weren't late so she let it happen, leaning against the counter with her arms crossed in front of her chest and a wide smile on her face.
By the time Wanda was finished though, it was time to leave. Otherwise, they would be late.
This is exactly why the ringing noise of the elevator arriving at their floor, followed by loud talking and clattering footsteps made the redhead spy's eyes widen.
"Oh hell no." She whispered to herself with a sigh.
Less than a second after that, a yell was heard. "Where is my biggest fan?!"
Tony waltzed into the kitchen with his suit on, followed by Steve, Bucky, Clint, Bruce, Peter, and Kate. They had left for a mission two days ago and it had gone visibly well, their excited smiles and continuous chattering a clear sign of that.
The moment their eyes settled on Elizabeth ready to go to school a ruckus was created.
Each one of them wanted to have a go at holding her and kissing her, wishing her a good start to school. And while when she was younger, Eli would start crying at everyone fussing around her, now she accepted it with a shy smile. As a baby, the girl barely let any of them, besides her mothers and aunt Yelena, hold her. Even them touching her left her grumpy. It took her a while to get used to all the Avengers, especially because she was so shy.
"Alright, guys we have to go. I don't want her late on the first day." Natasha tried to get her daughter from the billionaire's arms, only for him to pull away slightly, wanting to say something else to the child.
"Everything I have prepared you for is being put in question at this moment, kiddo. What is the square route of 81?"
"9." She answered immediately.
"Pythagorean Theorem..."
"a²+b²=c²"
"Area of Circle?"
"π * r²"
"A cosine is..."
"Adjacent to the hypotenuse." As Elizabeth finished off, proud tears reached Tony's eyes.
"They grow up so fast." He shakes his head, handing Eli back to Natasha and discreetly wiping his small tear.
"Right, we'll be back later. Say bye-bye, Eli." Natasha took her daughter's hand in her own as they walked to the elevator.
"Bye-bye, Eli." The child waved the rest of the Avengers away, receiving small chuckles at her unexpected joke and a nudge from her spy mother.
Yelena joined Natasha and her god-daughter on the ride, wanting to be there for the child's special day.
"Okay, baby. Do you have everything you need?" Natasha raised an eyebrow as she strapped her daughter to her baby seat, Yelena already seated at the front.
"Yes, mama." The child nodded, her feet rocking back and forth with excitement.
"I love you so much. Never forget that." Natasha kissed her forehead before closing the door and walking to the driver's seat.
The preschool wasn't very far away. A mere eight minutes from the compound, safely tucked away in a more calm part of town. There wasn't a better school to start in. Tony recommended it to them, after also having Morgan enrolled there.
"You'll be good, right bubba?" Natasha asked as she unstrapped her daughter and helped her out of the car.
"Course." Yelena rolled her eyes softly and held her god-daughter's free hand so the child was walking between them, hand in hand with them both.
Elizabeth was the most well-behaved person grown Yelena had ever seen, she'd never cause any trouble.
"Course." The child repeated after her aunt, receiving a prideful pat on the head from her and a snort from Natasha.
"Okay, baby." They stopped at the door of the school, two smiling teachers already waiting there for Elizabeth to reach them. They knew the whole 'saying goodbye for the first time' gig like the back of their hands.
"Off you go." Yelena found herself feeling quite sad at seeing her god-daughter go, even just for some hours.
The two sisters expected tears, denial, or even a tantrum. They were fearful of the child's reaction. Especially because Eli never dealt well with being away from her mothers. She ended up forming separation anxiety after having to watch her mothers go away on missions so frequently ever since she was a baby. Elizabeth wasn't dumb and knew how to read a room. Whenever her mothers were leaving for more difficult missions, worry and tension would spread across the compound, making the child understand they were leaving for something dangerous.
It also didn't help that sometimes they'd come back with injuries and blood all over their bodies.
The daughter worried for her parents so she began always trying her best to make them stay. Be it by pretending to be sick, throwing tantrums, or clinging to her mothers.
Hence why Yelena and Natasha weren't expecting this reaction.
"Okay." Elizabeth walked to the teachers and the doors closed behind her.
She didn't try to hold on to her mother's or aunt's hands. She didn't cry or look sad. She didn't even look back at them to wave goodbye.
Natasha felt shocked and then dejected.
"What the hell just happened?" Yelena let out also in shock.
"She dealt with that way better than I thought she would." The redhead's eyes were trained on the ground with confusion.
She guessed this was the better outcome. Her daughter wasn't distressed. Things went by smoothly. Natasha had to be thankful for that- no matter how much she would have loved to see a bit more reaction from Eli.
Wanda's eyebrows rose once Natasha told her what had happened. The red-head lay on their bed and looked up at the ceiling with a frown while the witch changed and prepared for her mission.
"Perhaps what gives her anxiety is watching us go. Not leaving herself." Wanda tried to pounder on an explanation. It was hard to get there and she found herself just as confused as Natasha was.
"I don't know. It was odd. I'm used to her clinging to me and not letting me go, you know? She's like a little koala." Natasha huffed, a faint pout coming to rest on her lips.
Wanda couldn't help but smile and lean in to kiss the pout away. She rested her forehead against Natasha's in hope of reassuring her wife.
"If something had happened, they'd call us. That means she's fine, detka. Don't worry so much, our baby is growing."
The two found themselves staring into each other's eyes in silence. As if reality had finally caught up to them.
Tears reached their eyes but then a knock at the door of their room was heard, followed by Steve's voice.
"Wanda, it's time to go." He called.
"Right." The auburn-haired woman wiped the little tear off the corner of her eye and watched Natasha do the same, "Coming!"
The two shared a long, passionate kiss. They didn't want to let go but knew full well if they didn't get up now the blond man would be knocking at their door again.
So Natasha accompanied Wanda to the Quinjet, softly rubbing her thumb on the back of the witch's hand.
"Please, call me after picking her up. I wanna hear her voice and ask her how it went." Wanda turned to Natasha once they reached the Quinjet.
"Nice to see you caring about how my day will go too." The red-head teased with a glint in her eyes.
Rolling her eyes, Wanda leaned in and took her wife's lips in her own for one last time before leaving.
"I'll see you, darling."
"In a minute, detka." Natasha nodded back at her and did her best to repress a sad smile as she watched Wanda board the jet.
They waved at each other as the doors closed and Natasha found herself looking at the watch on her wrist and then at the empty little spot beside her left leg. Her daughter would usually be holding on to that same leg when they watched Wanda leave.
This would be the moment where she'd turn to Eli and ask her what movie they should watch while waiting for Mommy to come back. And her daughter would always choose 'Nightmare Before Christmas' with an excited little jump in her step.
Not today.
It was already two o'clock, though. Elizabeth would be out at three.
So Natasha occupied her time by doing laps around the compound. She thought a little exercise would help her clear her mind.
It didn't, so she found herself arriving at the pre-school, half an hour before the correct time.
Somehow, she preferred waiting here. Here she felt closer to Eli. If something was to happen, she could just bolt inside.
Once more parents began arriving and waiting by the front door for their children, Natasha left her car and nervously rubbed her tights, joining them.
She noticed a few people gazing at her with shock and wonder. A few gasped and others stared mesmerized.
Natasha wasn't here for them, though. She came for her daughter only.
All the eyes on her began getting a bit too much, and the heavens above seemed to take pity on her since the children finally started leaving the school.
Elizabeth took a while to come out. She didn't appear too pleased, a blank expression attempting to cover her wide, fearful eyes.
"Gosh, why are you so much like me?" Natasha whispered to herself before raising her hand in the air and waving to get her daughter's attention.
The moment Elizabeth's eyes connected with hers, the child was sprinting to her mother's arms.
"Hey, bub. How did it go?" Natasha picked Eli up with a bright smile, now managing to fully ignore the eyes of other parents on her as she took her daughter's backpack in her hand and carried Elizabeth to their black BMW.
Natasha expected a response as nonchalant as Elizabeth had been that morning. A simple 'it was good' or maybe a cool shrug.
But when she pulled her daughter away from her chest and sat her in the child's car seat, her eyes widened at the endless tears running down her daughter's cheeks.
"Baby, what happened- why are you crying? Did someone hurt you?" Natasha immediately blurted out with a deep frown.
The child crossed her arms in front of her chest and huffed out softly at her mother, turning to look away.
"Eli, look at me," Natasha said in a firm tone and reached to turn her daughter's chin to her. "What made you cry?"
Pouted lips and kicked puppy green eyes from the child got Natasha's heart clenching impossibly tightly.
"Why didn't you come in with me? You left me." More tears left the child's eyes until she found herself sobbing.
It took her a second until Natasha realized what had happened and a small smile formed on her lips as she leaned forward and hugged her daughter, "Oh, my baby."
Elizabeth must have felt so sad and scared when she turned to look back and didn't see her Mommy and aunt following her.
"Shh, you're okay. I'm here, baby. Mama's here." Natasha found herself using her softest tone and rubbing her daughter's back when the latter started to hiccup because of her irritated diaphragm.
"Shh."
Natasha eventually ended up joining her daughter in the back seat of her car and pulled Eli to her lap, trying to calm her down.
The child usually never cried this much, so seeing her this distressed left Natasha anxious. Her cool demeanor didn't fit the panic in her eyes, but she played it off.
It was almost four o'clock when a sudden ringing noise alerted Natasha. Her head had tilted back in the seat as she held on tightly to Elizabeth.
She answered the phone in record time, not waiting for it to also alert her daughter.
"Hello?"
"Darling, how did it go?" Wanda's voice came through, followed by a few unfamiliar grunts.
"My evening? Oh, yes. It was quite eventful." The joke slipped off her lips with ease after she looked down and saw the peaceful expression on her daughter's face. A stark contrast to her tear-stained cheeks and little sniffles that were still escaping her mouth.
"How's our bunny?" Wanda tried sounding annoyed but Natasha easily heard the smile in her voice.
"She's better now, fell asleep in my lap not long ago."
"Better now? What happened?" The confusion and worry immediately seeped into Wanda's voice and made Natasha smile.
"Well, remember how nonchalant she was this morning?"
A painful groan followed by screams and a small huff answered her before Wanda did, "Yes."
"Well, she thought Yelena and I would also be going to preschool and stay there with her. She must have turned around when she was inside and, all of a sudden, we weren't there. She cried a lot just now when I came to pick her up...said I left her."
An audible coe was heard from the auburn-headed woman on the other line. "Nooo, she must have been so scared, poor angel."
"Right? I felt so bad, Wands." Natasha shook her head and once again looked down at her lap, brushing back a few curls that had fallen to Eli's eyes.
"Tomorrow you come in and spend the day with her here in pre-school."
The sudden comment from Natasha had Wanda gasping before she chuckled, "As much as I'd love that, I'm pretty sure that is not allowed."
"You have powers, though. Everything's possible to you."
Another chuckle was heard from Wanda and Natasha smiled happily to herself, very gently setting Elizabeth down on her child's seat and strapping her in as she listened to Wanda fight off more enemies.
"Is she okay now, Nat?" The question is let out after Wanda found herself in silence. Her voice was gentle and still filled with worry.
"She is sleeping like the baby she is," Natasha replied as she pulled out of her parking spot and left the school venue.
"Okay, detka. I should be back tomorrow morning."
"Please, be careful, Wands. Don't try rushing it, I prefer you taking longer but coming home safe rather than quickly and injured, okay? I'm sure Eli agrees with me."
The witch sighed out, "Fine, Nat. I'm pretty sure my position has been uncovered so I should go. Free to call tonight?"
"Whenever you want, Detka."
Ready or Not, Here I Come - Mama!Nat x Daughter!Reader
Summery: Your mama, Natasha can’t find you during a game of hide and seek and gets slightly worried
Notes: ‘Calls’ as in shouting, I’m going to assume reader is too young to have a phone yet, loll.
Readers Age: 4 Years Old
Requests: Open
Tumblr media
“Ninety-Nine... One-Hundred! Alright Malysh! Ready or not, here I come! Mama’s gonna find her little loon!” Natasha called out into the hallway of her section of the compound.
You both had just gotten back from spending the weekend at the Barton’s farm, over the weekend you had developed a love for the game of hide-and-seek from the two eldest Barton children.
So far this was yours and Natasha’s third game, and Natasha was just as into it as you were since she just could’t get enough of seeing your cheeky little grin or hearing your adorable squeal whenever she found you.
“Y/nnnnnn! Come out, come out where ever you are, манчкин.”
Nothing.
Hm, you were learning fast. The first round you had come out of your hiding spot straight after she had called you, always being a child to answer when called so that you wouldn’t give your mama a scare.
Natasha made sure to make her steps heavy, knowing that you would giggle if you felt as though you were tricking her.
“Could my little Y/N/N be under the carpet?” She called out as she lifted the carpet gently. “Oh? She isn’t here!” She called out, pretending to sound shocked.
Although she was a little but when she didn’t hear a sound afterwards.
You were really getting good at this game. Clint had thought you well. She could imagine his words of ‘the student becomes the master’
“Ohhhhhh Y-NNNNN!” She sang. “Mama’s coming to find youuu.”
Nothing. Huh.
For the next minute Natasha played it the way she usually did, making silly little comments as well as looking at the spots where it was plain-fully obvious you weren’t hiding. But you were beginning to worry her by remaining quiet.
You were a quiet child, of course. But usually during games like this the more your mama called the more you wanted to run to her and make sure that she wasn’t actually worried, plus you loved the cuddles that you would receive.
“Y/N? Sweetheart?”
If you just giggles or let out a huff or something she would gladly keep pretending for another five minutes, but there wasn’t a peep out of you.
“Come on honey, Mama can’t find you anywhere. She gives up!”
Natasha thought that that ought to do it. But it didn’t. Still not a sound.
And due to having received a small dose of syrum during her time in the red room, her hearing was better than the average person’s, making it easier to hear around your’s and her’s apartment in the compound. Which helped whenever you had a nightmare or needed to get up at night due to a tummy ache.
Natasha was panicking now, switching into protective Mama mode.
She began to search all of your previous hiding spots where you had hid in perviously. But nothing.
She would have heard the door open if you went to go somewhere else in the compound.
“Y/N! Come on sweetheart! Why don’t we go find Uncle Thor? He and Loki just got back from Asgard, you love Uncle Loki!”
You did love Uncle Loki, he was one of your favourite uncles and if something wasn’t terribly wrong you would have zoomed over to her that very second from where you were supposed to be hiding.
“Malyshka please. Are you stuck? Do you need Mama to come get you?”
Natasha wandered aimlessly around the apartment, not entirely sure what to do. She didn’t want to leave incase you got scared if you came out of your hiding spot because she wasn’t there.
It wasn’t until she noticed a little pair of kids’ shoes sticking out from under the rack that she felt huge relief.
Natasha pulled a few of the coats to the side and smiled in relief and at the adorable sight in front of her.
You were fast asleep, your head resting on her slippers.
She should have known how tired you would be. You had been running wild with the Barton kids all day, you had stayed awake the entire car journey back chatting away because you felt that if you fell asleep Natasha would be lonely, you had then played another two games while running around with Natasha. She’s surprised you hadn’t fallen asleep sooner.
After she quickly snapped a picture of you on her phone she put it away and went to softly pick you up, you were light, so it was no problem.
“C’mere sweet pea.” She murmured as you let out a small grunt.
“Mama.” You whined slightly.
“Right here Moye Serdtse.” She cooed softy as you lay your head on her shoulder.
“Did I win?”
Natasha suppressed a laugh. You had won in scaring her if that’s what you meant, which of course it wasn’t.
She studied your red locks that you inherited from her, and said something that she had known since the day she she discovered your existence. “I won.” She said lovingly. She had won, she had won in life because she had you. What else could she ever need?
You huffed, not understanding what she really meant. “Next time I will.”
“Maybe.” Natasha chuckled. “Let’s go sweetheart, you can sleep in my bed.”
You smiled up tiredly at Natasha as she moved some hairs from your face. “Yes please, Mama.”
“I love you. Malyshka.”
“Iluvoo too...” You replied, half asleep on your Mama’s shoulder already.
the first meeting - wandanat x daughter!r
series masterlist
word count; 2,024
a/n; annnnd here we go!! the first part of scarletwidow’s life lessons 💗 i hope it meets y’all expectations ahdkdnd feel free to hop into in my inbox to talk about this fic because i love mama!wandanat with my whole heart and i already have a brief timeline for the next few fics in this au~ feedback is always appreciated <3!!
you pull your younger sister as close to you as you can, shushing her whenever you deem her to be too noisy. wary of the various adults in the airplane you are currently seated in, you do your best to calm your hammering heart. ellie needs you, you have to be strong.
natasha steals a glance at the kids once again and sighs softly, fingers pinching her nose bridge as the boys bicker over what to do with them.
“we need to run some tests, there’s no knowing what hydra could’ve done to them!”
“they’re children tony, they don’t need to be poked and prodded! i say we hand them over to the authorities, they’ll know what to do.”
“steve, your idea is even worse than tony’s.” natasha cuts in sharply, quirking up an eyebrow when the two men swivel to face her.
“so what do you suggest we do? we can’t take them in!” steve argues, arms crossing in front of him. “let’s say neither of them have powers, then what? the avengers compound isn’t exactly the safest place for two young kids- whose ages we don’t even know yet!”
“even if they don’t have any powers, they have obviously been through enough trauma while in hydra. we are not sending them away.” natasha states firmly, eyes narrowing at the two men as if daring them to rebuke her. with a curt nod at their silence, the redhead turns to go to check on the girls.
schooling her expression to what she hoped was a softer look, she makes her way over to where you and your sister are huddled together.
natasha stops several feet away from you two when she sees you tensing up. briefly she wonders if both of you heard the earlier shouting match.
“hi, my name’s natasha.” the redhead pauses to see if you both could understand english- there was nothing on the two of you at the base and jarvis was still running a search. “could you tell me your names please?”
a beat of silence.
“why do you need our names? you can just leave us somewhere, it’s okay.” you aren’t sure if you want to go back with them, what if they hurt you too?
the fear you were feeling in that moment must’ve reflected on your face as the redhead was quick to assure you, “well, we decided that it’ll be a lot of safer for you to come with us. i promise you that no one’s going to hurt you, okay?”
“no poke?” ellie asks, her big doe eyes staring up at natasha, who felt her heart melt slightly.
“only to keep you healthy.”
you weigh the options in your mind. you aren’t a stranger to who these people are, they’re the avengers, the superheroes.
“no one’s going to come for you, not even the avengers. you’re not worth their time.”
why are they helping you now? they weren’t here for all those other years, the ones where you had to watch them try and hurt ellie, the ones where they hurt you.
but they would be safe. the avengers were untouchable.
“once you are old enough for the tests, you might be able to help us finally take down the avengers.”
maybe it was safer to take the chance. you look down at ellie, whose gaze been on you this whole time. you have to keep her safe, that is more important than anything else.
“i’m y/n. and this is ellie.”
-
you insist on carrying ellie off the jet. natasha walks behind you with a hand on your back as she guides you to the lift.
“we’ll have to get you two checked out by our doctor just to make sure you’re both healthy. i’ll be there with you the whole time okay?” natasha can sense your apprehension from the way your body tenses and the way your stride slows. stepping forward she lowers herself in front of you.
“malysh, remember what i told you on the jet?” natasha questions to which you nod hesitantly in response.
“i said i wouldn’t let anyone hurt you, right?” another nod.
“and we only want to make you feel better? healthy?” you nod again, this time feeling ellie nod alongside you in a bid to copy your movements. natasha chuckles at that, a hand reaching out to tickle ellie’s tummy, making the younger girl giggle.
“like i said, i will be there the whole time. i wont let anyone hurt you, okay?” ellie nods enthusiastically before looking up at you, furrowing when you hadn’t done the same. you bite your lip worriedly but bob your head in agreement nonetheless. natasha has appeared to be truthful thus far and it seems like ellie liked the redhead as well. though you weren’t sure how much you could trust a four year old’s judgement. natasha smiles at the both of you once more before standing up and continuing to the lift ahead.
the doors slide open and a brunette steps out, her gaze landing straight onto natasha. she all but runs over, causing you to quickly take a few steps back while natasha welcomes the taller woman’s tight embrace.
the two converse in hushed whispers, sharing a sweet kiss before the attention goes back to the both of you. natasha had texted wanda earlier explaining the situation and while she was a little worried due to her inexperience with children, she promised natasha that she’d provide any help needed. all the redhead asked for so far was to join the trio in heading to medbay, hoping that a slightly more calming presence could help you two feel more at ease.
you eye the stranger warily but it seems that your sister has no such reservations.
“hello!” the younger girl greets, sending her a toothy grin. you see a brief look of hesitation flit pass the stranger’s face but it was quickly turned to an easy smile.
“hello, my name’s wanda. and you must be..?
“i’m ellie! sissy says i’m four!” ellie babbles out happily and you sigh internally.
“she turned four earlier this month, i’m y/n and i’ll be turning twelve later this year.” you supply, ignoring the way natasha eyes you suspiciously. deciding not to press the issue, the redhead simply hums in acknowledgment before gesturing for you to come closer. placing her hand on your back once again, the four of you make your way down to the medical.
the telltale smell of the chlorine causes you to flinch instinctively, your grip on ellie tightening.
“you’re safe malysh. i’m right here.” natasha reminds you softly, wanda moving from her position next to the widow to stand on your other side. slowly, the four of you walked to an examination room where dr cho was waiting.
you ask if ellie could be looked at first and natasha helps you set her on the examination table. you stay right next to ellie, gripping onto her hand securely. dr cho doesn’t bat an eye, instead opting to engage both of you while checking over ellie.
“she’s a little underweight and has a few bruises, nothing major to worry about. we might have to do some vaccinations but she’s otherwise good to go. do you need me to run any blood tests?” dr cho looks over to natasha who nods.
when dr cho turns to ellie with a needle in hand you’re quick to place yourself as a barrier, shaking your head quickly. “you said you wouldn’t hurt us.”
“dr cho just needs to take some of ellie’s blood to make sure she’s healthy. it’ll be a small pinch but it won’t hurt her i promise.” meeting your mistrustful gaze, natasha feels her heart break a little. you were just a child. before natasha can try to convince you further, wanda steps in.
“how about dr cho takes some of my blood? so you’ll see that there’s nothing to worry about. if you’d like we can draw some of your blood before we take ellie’s so you’ll be extra sure it’s safe. sound good?” wanda rolls up her sleeve and walks over. making sure that you have a clear view, dr cho talks you through the steps as she does them and soon she’s taping a bandaid onto wanda’s forearm.
deciding that it seems safe enough, you give dr cho your arm first. like natasha said, it was just a pinch and it was over quickly. only after that do you move aside to let dr cho do the same for ellie. natasha presses a kiss to wanda’s cheek in thanks when she returns to her side near the doorway.
“okay now it’s your turn. can you hop up on the examination table please?” dr cho looks at you with an encouraging smile. natasha comes over then to help you up and as she does, you whisper a small request. sitting you on the table next to your sister, natasha looks at you with an eyebrow raised and you nod in confirmation. ellie allows natasha to carry her but starts to whine when the redhead brings her away from the table, not wanting to leave your side.
“it’s okay. i’ll be here, listen to ms natasha okay?” you call out as you follow dr cho’s instructions to lie down. when she starts to move your shirt to get a better look, you let your eyes slip close, not wanting to be reminded of the things that happened.
wanda has to hold in her gasp when she sees the state of your body. the tshirt you had on was tattered and baggy, obscuring your frame. while ellie was definitely skinny for a four year old, you seemed to have it worse. natasha clenches her jaw in anger as she eyes the bruises and scars littered on your small body. she understands now why you had asked her to make sure ellie doesn’t watch and natasha makes sure to keep her hand on the back of the toddler’s head steady.
it was no doubt to all three adults that you took the brunt of whatever hydra did. they didn’t even want to think about what other things they might’ve done to you.
dr cho delivers her assessment quickly, prescribing some ointments that would help with the bruisings and any other cuts.
later on when wanda brings the two children outside, that’s when dr cho tells natasha to keep an eye out on you, that some wounds were still healing and at risk of infections. they set up dates for both of you to get a few shots and soon you’re all moving up to natasha and wanda’s shared floor.
there’s a few boxes in the living room with a small note. wanda ushers the both of you to the kitchen while natasha takes a closer look. her lips curls into a rare smile as she reads it. pulling out a knife from her combat suit, she quickly opens up the boxes to see the various clothing, child friendly utensils, books and toys ordered by tony. the note says that they can arrange the living quarters once they had time to discuss it. natasha reminds herself that this will only be temporary and makes a mental note to give a call to clint who was back at the farm. she isn’t sure if the archer would be able to take on two kids but maybe he would have an idea of someone who would be equipped to take care of the kids.
would she be? natasha wonders briefly. but she quickly pushes the thought away. it doesn’t matter now. now she needs to make sure you two have dinner, a nice bath and that you two can finally get some rest.
but when she steps into the kitchen, she sees wanda talk to the both of you as she prepares the pasta. even if ellie is the only one engaging at the moment, while you keep a sharp eye on the food being prepared, she can’t help but imagine what it’d be like if you two stayed here permanently.
her own little family.
. . .
“you know, i would’ve been grateful to have so much food around me when i was younger.” natasha scoffed.
“i just wish you would understand, or at least try to!” you cried out, tears streaming steadily down your face. “it’s not about food, mom. i-i don’t even know what it’s about, but trust me when i say that if i could choose to live without this disorder i would.”
you felt pathetic as you wiped your tears off your face. you’d been arguing with your mother for a good thirty minutes now, something that almost never happened before your issue became known.
“why can’t you just eat the food? tell me, why can’t you? why, y/n? it’s food-”
“i know it’s food!”
“then eat it!” natasha screamed back at you. “i get it, you need to feel in control of something. but why can’t you just control something else-”
“i didn’t choose to have an eating disorder. and it’s not about control, not anymore. i told you, i don’t know what it’s about.” you sighed, heart breaking with each response you gave your mother.
natasha rolled her eyes. “your life has been so easy, i made sure of that. you never once had to deal with any of the shit i did, so why are you doing this to me? how do you think i feel?”
you could help but laugh at your mother.
“how do i think you feel? how do you think i feel, mom? you’re not the one living with this, i am.” you wiped your eyes once more, ignoring the sting that had been caused from the repeated action.
“you preach so publicly about mental health and how important it is. people adore you for it. so why won’t you listen to your own child?”
your mother shook her head, "you should be grateful."
"i am grateful! i'm so grateful for everything you've done for me, so much so that it kills me to know that i can't just stop this. i feel so guilty for it and when you say these... awful things to me it makes me feel so stupid and worse than i already do." you sobbed, pushing yourself further away from your mother until your back hit the headboard of your bed.
"i wish i could think of it as just food. i wish i could eat without feeling so guilty i have to force myself to throw up. i wish that i didn't feel like the only way i'm ever truly good is if i'm empty. i wish i could tell you what happened, but i feel like everything i say and do disappoints you."
natasha took another look at you, one that really stuck with her. she didn't recognize you anymore, you weren't the daughter she'd raised since the tender age of five. you weren't the daughter she knew just a couple of months ago. it truly wasn't until you passed out at school and ended up in the hospital with your diagnosis when everything changed. she didn't know you anymore and it tore her apart.
the more she studied you, the more she noticed how beat down and exhausted you appeared. everything about you was dull and worn out to the point she wasn't sure how much of you was left.
"i'm sorry," natasha finally let out. "i don't understand. i don't think i ever will understand." you went to interrupt her, but she was quicker than you.
"i don't think i can because i've never struggled with an eating disorder, but what i can do is try. you are my child and i love you endlessly. i don't want anything bad to ever happen to you and i'm sorry i wasn't able to protect you from this. i don't want to fight anymore because i don't want to lose you."
your breath caught in the back of your throat as you listened to your mother.
"i want you to be able to come to me when you're struggling. i want to help you get better." she finished off, taking a step towards you before sitting on the edge of your bed.
"but you still think those things, mom. i don't want your help when i know the only thing going through your mind is how selfish and ungrateful i am," you croaked.
"what i said was ignorant and i know i can't take it back, but i'm willing to do whatever it is that i need to get you better."
"well first you have to know it's not about food. i can't 'just eat it' like you want me to. i can't just choose not to have an eating disorder anymore." you snapped uncontrollably.
"okay," natasha nodded. "i believe you."
"i do want to get better, i think. i'm not sure. i know i have a problem but i don't want to accept that i have a problem..." you trailed quietly. "i don't know how to live without it anymore, i can't remember who i was before this."
natasha tilted her head in confusion, "i thought you'd just been struggling for a few months?"
"it's been years, mom. it's a very secretive disorder, i did everything in my power to make sure you didn't know about it. pretty easy to do when you're gone half the time anyway." you shrugged.
"i'm sorry," she admitted.
there was a beat of silence before the two of you spoke again.
"what happened?"
"what do you mean?"
"earlier, you said you wished you could tell me what happened." she pointed out.
"oh." your heart dropped and natasha could see you visibly pale at the thought of having to say what it was.
"is it bad?"
"depends on your definition of bad."
"did someone hurt you?"
"yeah. but it was a long time ago, it doesn't matter now. i'm over it." you lied pathetically.
"it does matter and you're not over it." your mother stated calmly, desperate to keep her voice from cracking.
"i was 14, it was years ago. i don't want to talk about it."
"i can respect that, but you'll have to eventually. doesn't have to be with me, but it'll only get worse the longer you don't deal with it." everything in her was fighting to not demand you tell her the name of who did it. she knew that wouldn't help you, not when you still haven't even processed it.
she felt like a failure of a mother, but this was not about her. it was about you.
"where do you want to go from here?"
"i don't know."
natasha chewed on her bottom lip. "i've missed you."
"do you miss me or who you thought i was?" you questioned, bringing your knees into your chest.
she pondered for a second, "both i guess."
it was a fair answer.
"keeping it a secret from you was the hardest thing i ever had to do."
"so why did you?"
"i wasn't sure how to tell you, let alone when to tell you... and then seeing how you've reacted up until now i'm glad i didn't."
natasha would never tell you how much your words pierced her heart, but it was her own doing. she didn't have much room, if any, to feel sorry for herself.
"what i will say though, is that i miss being curled up into your side with our favorite snacks and desserts while we watched horror movies. i miss spending our mornings arguing over pancakes or waffles, not over if i would eat that day."
the redhead chuckled. "you know for someone who doesn't eat very much you sure have the energy to hold a fight."
"fear will do that to you."
"do you think you'll ever be yourself again?"
you hummed, “i think i’ll be a new version of my old self.”
“i like that answer. i think a lot of people feel like they will never be themselves again after traumatic events. i know i never felt like i could.” natasha spoke, her eyes meeting yours.
for the first time in awhile you didn’t feel like you were disappointing her.
“i used to think like that, but i don’t anymore because you don’t have to lose yourself completely. you don’t have to start over by completely erasing who you once were. i’d like to believe that i can still cherish those parts of me before they were tainted.”
natasha smiled for the first time that day. “you’re completely right.”
“before you get too happy i want you to remember that just because we’re having a good moment now doesn’t mean we won’t have more days like earlier.” you reminded her.
it hurt to see her face fall, but you were right.
your mother needed to remember that this wouldn’t be going away quickly or any time soon. but if she keeps her word and tries to do better than before, you knew there was a better chance at healing.
