In one episode we got: the Trial of Magneto, the purple sexpot suit Magneto, the forbidden Rogue x Magneto, the luscious shaggy hair Magneto, the probably-bi-for-Charles Magneto, the smug bitch Magneto, the actually cares but still playing the long game Magneto, the cynical but wants to believe Magneto, the Magneto at damn near the height of his power, now give us the “Magneto de-aged to a baby by some rando villain and then aged back to 30 by aliens” storyline.
We can take it.

Sci FI Month:Why X Men the Animated series is awesome
Tumblr media
So I binged the entierty of X Men the Animated Series and I intended to make an epic review with episode reccomendations, annnnnd it ended up too long ,so instead I am going to go over reasons why this show is Great and has an enduring legacy
1.X Men in general as a franchise has tons of characters to choose from and I think it is so wise of the show that they limit it to 9 core characters, while some fan favorites get really good guest appearences like Nightcrawler
2.The Characterization and relationships are top notch ,every character gets a spot light and each character has layers ,with each character having their own demons.Even Professor X who couldve just been the mentor figure gets fleshed out to where you understand why he does what he does .Oh if you wanna know who my fave characters are:Storm,Wolverine ,Gambit, and Beast
3.The villains are varied ,from the anti villainous Magneto ,to the brutish Juggernaut ,to the bigoted Graydon Creed ,to the sadistic Sabretooth,to the complicated Mystique ,to the cold Mr Sinister to (My favorite ) the bombastic Apoclaypse
4.As a comic adaptation I think its fun that the show doesnt limit itself to one period of X Men but pays tribute to 30 years of comics:The designs are Jim Lee inspired, they pay tribute to Lee and Kirby, the stories pull a lot from Chris Clairmount ,and several episodes were written by comic legend Len Wein
5.The show doesnt have the biggest budget but with its shading ,strong character designs and editing it still holds up rather decently
6.Voice acting is all around solid,Cal Dodd,Lenore Zahn,George Buza and John Colicos are the go to voices for Wolverine,Rogue,Beast and Apocalypse to me
7.The series is serialized with a conitinuity, which while common with modern cartoons, was kind of a new thing back then.We can thank this show for changing how action cartoons were done. Also each season has a distinct feel with the first three having story arcs(The Sentinels in season one,Magneto and Xavier trapped in the Savage Land in season 2 , andDealing with the aliens known as the Shiar Empire in season 3 )
8.The writing does not talk down to kids,in fact the writing for the show is very good not shying away from the fact this is a show about prejudice
9.I think the show has good momentum getting better and better up to Season 4 ,which is the best season of the show .Now Season 5 does feel like it is running on fumes, but it still has great episodes and contiains one of the greatest animated series finales ever "Graduation Day "
10.And of course.....The theme song is kickass
youtube
If you want me to explain my feelings more just ask me,I am more then willing to ramble about this amazing cartoon.I plan to do my top 10 favorite episodes, villains, and multi parters

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Oh lord, top ten of ALL media I loved? Fuckin' hell. Alright, just to cheat, I'm choosing to do this in no particular order and sticking to one media because I frankly do not have the capacity to process top favorites all at once. TOP TEN OF MARVEL COMICS/MCU IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier - Heavily relate to his issues, I've been told I look like him, and overall I love his character. Been obsessed with his character for years now, and I want nothing more than for him to be happy.
Moon Knight/Mark Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley - Steven Grant is heavily relatable to me, and Moon Knight in general has always been interesting to me. I learned about the character before the show itself, and even his design itself draws me in. I'm a sucker when his cape makes the crescent shape too.
Ghost Rider - Nonspecific simply because all the Ghost Riders I know are badasses. If I had to be a hero/have the powers of any Marvel character, I'm choosing this one. Love the idea of the character, and wish it gets a good adaptation for film/tv show soon
Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner - Gender Envy. Also heavily relate to him because of similar issues. Consistently struggle if I want to be him or be with him.
Gambit/Remy LeBeau - I love a sarcastic man with a bit of fruitiness, and a smug ass face. Also his powers are interesting as well, and he's frankly a genius for using playing cards as his usual weapon (mass produced and several on hand).
Spider-Man - Also nonspecific, since I grew up on watching Spider-Man cartoons so I love Peter Parker, but also after ATSV I've gained an interest in Miguel O'Hara as well. Peter in the comics always has my heart however, some of the lines he has in them are iconic as hell.
Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto - He's a villain I can't ever hate, and probably has the second power I'd choose if I had to choose a power from a Marvel character. I too would cause mass destruction if it meant that me and people like me would stop fucking yknow- being killed and persecuted. And bro is (usually) old as fuck as he does this, still kicking ass.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil - Once again, relate due to similar issues. Also what's more funny than a sarcastic lawyer going out to beat the shit out of criminals every night? Plus it's a bit unfair that he looks hot beat up. . . iykyk.
Wade Wilson/Deadpool - Self explanatory.
Loki Laufeyson - Similar thing to Bucky and Kurt: obsessed with character for years and a part of me wants to be them. Might have kickstarted my discovery into being nonbinary honestly now that I think about it. . .

Top Ten Best Superhero movies? Top Ten Least Favorite Superhero movies? Why?
I’m gonna enjoy answering this one.
Sorry to disappoint, but I didn’t think ten movies would suffice for my best list, so here’s a top 15.
15 Favorite:
15: Batman Returns: Creepy and gothic, but darkly funny with a surprising amount of pathos and THREE great villains played by amazing actors.
14: X-Men: First Class: A showcase of the X-Men film series’ strengths while also shaking up the usual portrayals of its universe, as a fun and exciting origin story for Xavier and Magneto as they’re tasked with taking down the most depraved villain in the franchise
13: Spider-Man: No Way Home: The culmination of ALL of Spider-Man’s previous cinematic appearances, bringing everything great about each incarnation all together in one place
12: Deadpool: A hilarious and meta tribute to the superhero genre with the best portrayal of Deadpool in anything ever
11: Batman Begins: A unique reinvention of Batman’s mythos, infusing a grim-and-gritty tone typical of the 2000s with classic action and noir aesthetics
10: Thor: Ragnarok: A fun and zany 80s-style adventure that shows off Thor’s best strengths as a character in ways previous films couldn’t; beautiful visuals, great music, cool villains… what’s not to love?
09: SHAZAM: A quirky, funny flick with a relatable hero, a lot of heart, strong familial themes, and fun action scenes with an awesome villain
08: Iron Man: The movie that put Marvel on the map by reinventing a controversial hero and redefining what superhero movies could do, proving they could be taken seriously and STILL be fun and colorful
07: Wonder Woman: A deeply touching and emotional film with a sympathetic hero and a strong message about the nature of war and peace.
06: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: Many didn’t expect this film to be a success due to the tough act its predecessor’s deceased star set to follow, it proved to be an endearing, gripping, heartwarming flick with both a hero and villain who are both very sympathetic
05: Zack Snyder’s Justice League: The long-awaited realization of one man’s artistic vision: full to the brim with strong pathos, but not afraid to be lighthearted at times
04: The Suicide Squad: has all the heart, fun action, great music, and likable characters of a modern superhero movie with all the gore, vulgarity, and dark humor of a classic B-movie
03: Guardians of the Galaxy: A quirky, off-beat flick with a killer soundtrack and a surprisingly heartwarming family dynamic; is not afraid to be silly or weird, which only makes it stronger
02: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: a charming, fun movie that deeply examines the mythos of a beloved character while shining a spotlight on his many variants and successors
01: Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers Endgame: The culmination of ten years of buildup throughout the cinematic universe, this movie brings iconic heroes together and shows off the best in all of them with a gripping story packed with heartrending pathos
(Honorable Mentions: Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Aquaman, Blade, Hellboy, Darkman, Captain America: Civil War, Birds of Prey, The Batman 2022)
Also, I honestly couldn’t think of ten superhero movies bad enough to be considered “the worst”, so I’ll give you five.
05: Iron Man 2: Tonally confused with nonsensical character motivations and conspicuous studio interference changing things at the last minute
04: Thor: The Dark World: So fucking boring I forgot everything about it the second I left the theatre.
03: Man of Steel: An overly grim, depressing slog of a film with murky visuals, pointless changes to Superman’s mythos, and almost every character is a horrible asshole. In short, the worst way to start a cinematic universe
02: Fantastic Four 2015: Bad special effects, ugly visuals, bland and stupid characters, cheesy writing, and a weirdly dark tone that completely misses the point of what the Fantastic Four are supposed to be.
01: Wonder Woman 1984: A saccharine, sappy, schmaltzy mess of a film that’s far longer than it needs to be thanks to pointless filler, with a childishly simplistic plot, dodgy special effects, a horrifically racist depiction of Middle Easterners, and the hero literally becomes a rapist

here are my thoughts on the x-men movies since ive finished most of them
x-men (2000): in my top 3. love mags and xavier in this one mostly because its ian mckellan & patrick stewart. my main gripes are with the merging of magnetos and mystiques brotherhoods & the exclusion of destiny from the brotherhood. magneto being willing to sacrifice his life & another mutants for his dream to be realized seems pretty accurate but i feel like they didnt make it clear enough that if the plan worked he would have died too...? HATE wolverine trying to put the moves on jean grey but thats true regardless of whether its a movie or a comic or a stageplay for all i care.
x2: the plot of this one kind of lost me mostly because i havent read god loves man kills yet so i didnt have any basis to understand wtf was going on except stryker was there and hes evil. love maggy in the prison being emo and shit although them deciding when he can or cant fly or use certain powers seems pretty arbitrary... ? i feel like deathstryke is treated pretty poorly by the plot here seeing as shes you know kind of an important character who they never introduce properly. nightcrawler looks better in this movie than he does in the later ones but still not good.
last stand: ive already talked about the choice of angel & worthington industries as the villains in this one so i won't go over it again. i think its DEEPLY funny that scott disappears and wolverine finds his glasses (which he cannot live without) just lying around and doesn't think "hey i wonder what happened to cyclops" until jean is quite literally unbuckling his belt halfway through trying seduce him. why does no one in these films seem to give a fuck about what happens to cyclops he dies in the first 10 minutes of the movie and its never addressed. also prof x dies in this one and i dont remember how he comes back to life so what was that. also they fuck up bobbys characterization SOOOO bad like i know they didnt know he was gay and he is kind of a player but in the comics kitty uses him as a rebound then breaks up with him and then his younger self (teleported to the future from the 60s) is like "why arent you gay. i'm gay" and bobby is like "no i'm also gay. i just act straight because of irish catholic guilt". so having him cheat on rogue with kitty and pressure rogue into getting the mutation blocker thing so they can have sex is retroactively an insane plotline. sorry im bobby drakes number one fan and this is so fake. also beast is so hot in this movie. what? who said that. also the phoenix plotline sucks and also magneto was right to try and explode the factory or whatever
origins wolverine: INCREDIBLY funny movie serious excellent. completely unintentional in how funny it is but so enjoyable to watch. why was cyclops there? why was emma frost there? what is going on in this movie? why is wolverine naked all the damn time? why does he know the blob? why can he BEAT the blob? why is the blob in this movie? seriously what the fuck is going on in this movie? x-men origins wolverine does not have answers to these questions. its really great to see the awful cgi claws though. i liked that gambit was in this movie.
first class: i have a lot of questions on this one. why is hank here. why is mystique acting like a child when she should be over 70 years old at the least. why would they get my hopes up by putting banshee and moira in the same movie but then not give them a relationship. why the fuck is scott summers' younger brother here. however it does well by making you root for magneto and then being like "and everybody then teamed up with magneto because hes awesome and abandoned xavier except for hank because theyre both centrist democrats" like you know what. so true. i like how mags just starts drama constantly for no reason like why was he fucking w mystique like that... good for him i guess but hes so gay in this movie its not even funny. okay it is funny but only a little.
the wolverine: i fell asleep during this one so i don't know but it seemed weird and racist in many ways and wolverine was a complete bitch during it for NO reason as always. also its so funny to see him fail on screen with basic japanese when in the comics he gets mind wiped and regains the ability to speak japanese before he regains english like that guy is an r/whiteguyswithasianwives prodigy. i liked deathstryke in this movie the actress was very cool. why didnt wolverine take the deal to save his friend and not be immortal anymore when he fucking hates being immortal half the time like bro come on... i hate him sorry
days of future past: okay at this point they should have known bobby drake was gay. so why all that with kitty. also why blame MYSTIQUE for the creation of the sentinels dawg she had nothing to do with that in the comics. the sentinels were not purple enough OR big enough btw. also, where is rachel summers. you cant do days of future past without rachel summers. either way this was a pretty good movie. quicksilver was excellent.
apocalypse: guys. why is scott summers wearing raybans. here are some other questions i hate about this movie: why is cyke's backstory never properly discussed. why do they give cyke angel or bobby's personality. why does nightcrawler look so bad. why would apocalpse choose angel over literally anyone else. why is it never addressed that nightcrawler is mystique's son. why is psylocke here if theyre not going to do anything with her. why is xavier such an annoying liberal. why would they introduce a new magneto daughter when he already has like 3 to pick from. why dont hank and mystique just sort their shit out. why does mystique go to bat so hard for maggy. why does jean already have telepathic abilities when she and scott meet thus making the way they originally get together (one of the main reasons i give a fuck about their relationship) impossible. who is the girl with the yellow hoop earrings they hang out with. dazzler??? why does jean have the phoenix spirit in her if she hasnt died yet. why isnt storm in her home on the mountain at this point. why is moira not scottish. why introduce her son if theyre not going to do the moira son plotline. last but not least, why would they include any character in this movie who wasnt quicksilver when hes obviously the best character by a wide margin and all scenes that dont include him are basically worthless. otherwise i quite enjoyed it. i liked angels haircut and im so glad they FINALLY made xavier bald.
i will add my reviews of new mutants, dark phoenix, deadpool, etc. once i watch them

look, I hate to say it, but I feel like there’s definitely edgy students at Xavier’s that have crushes on Erik because they hear about him and think he’s this mysterious, suave villain, which definitely means Peter’s heard people swoon over his secret long-lost father, and that is so funny to me
bonus: Raven brings up the fact that she and Erik were a thing once just to see Peter’s reaction xD

Wanda and Erik are so similar, and poor Peter is the odd one out. I’m just imagining Erik rolling up to Wanda’s house like “get in loser, we’re going on a murder spree” and Peter, who has a strict no-killing policy, is standing in the doorway like “but DAD we never get to do ANYTHING together :(“

thinking about the Percy Jackson show that’s being made right now, and as someone who was obsessed with those books for years and then got late-diagnosed with ADHD and a learning disability (Dyscalculia), I really hope that the show actually shows how Percy struggles amongst his peers before coming to camp. I expect that the show will portray the positive aspects of neurodivergence since it’s so tied to all the character’s powers in the books (like Dyslexia being because their brains are hardwired for reading ancient Greek)--and I’m excited about that!--but I would also love to see the struggle that comes with being ND and not ever fully assimilating with NT peers.
give me a Percy Jackson who gets kicked out of school not just because he acts out or has unexplained incidents with his powers, but who struggles in school and has to repeat a grade or two because his Dyslexia is so bad. A Percy whose teachers don’t believe him when he says he’s really trying because his grades are straight D’s and F’s despite his best efforts. A Percy who is a loyal and eager friend but doesn’t always understand NT communication and doesn’t realize when he takes his sarcasm and joking too far and gets shunned for it. A Percy who, at the tender age of twelve, is totally burnt out because no one knows what to do with him, who has awful self-esteem because he’s been told his whole life that he’s failing, who believes he wasted his potential already, but whose mom is kind and understanding and fiercely defensive of him to the rest of the world because she knows her child is worth so much more than his ability to fit in or get good grades. A Percy who comes to camp and is suddenly surrounded by people just like him, who excels in battle and finds friends who just get him, who slowly relearns who he is and what he’s capable of, learning that his struggles can be strengths sometimes, and finding confidence and acceptance through this community in a way that he’s never had before.

Defenders V
Defenders #15-16
Tumblr media
Defenders #15-16 - writer: Len Wein | penciler: Sal Buscema | inker(s): Klaus Janson (#15), Mike Esposito (#16)
The Defenders fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants! This sounded cooler than it ended up being. I really liked the art by Sal Buscema. As always, I think his art is action-packed and the kind of artist that you would want on a team book. I love that Nighthawk got his new costume because the last one was definitely not it. This one looks way better and he’s got a jet pack! Also his butler’s name is Pennysworth which made me laugh out loud. Some of the dialogue written for Nighthawk was pretty terrible like constantly calling Valkyrie “pretty lady” which was kinda annoying. I already know Val is the longest tenured member of the Defenders and in the most issues for this volume but I really don’t want her to leave which was referenced in issue #15. I think my biggest issue with this story is Magneto’s characterization. I know this was when he was just an evil villain with not much substance but I found myself missing the depth that we have with modern day Magneto. Btw, I haven’t had the opportunity to talk about Magneto yet on these blogs but just got context, he is in my top 10 marvel characters of all time. Anyways, Magneto was imprisoned in the center of the Earth by the Avengers and so he broke out and wants revenge. The Defenders are called on by Professor X to stop the Brotherhood. Magneto reveals his most diabolical plan yet: Alpha the Ultimate Mutant! Can I also say that the Brotherhood was made up of lame villains like Mastermind and Unus (which my brain kept reading as Anus), but at least Lorelei and Blob were there. The Defenders’ fight with the Brotherhood was your fun run-of-the-mill action with nothing special. Except for Professor X igniting Nighthawk’s jet pack so he flies and knocks out Lorelei. Alpha was an interesting concept and had every mutant power you could think of. I liked that in issue #16, he started second-guessing Magneto and refused to kill people. Also, I really liked how Prof X and Dr. Strange got through to Alpha by pointing out the contradictions by Magneto which ended the fight. I love the ending to the fight being a conversation. I don’t see how the Brotherhood gets out of their situation though cause they were turned into babies at the end. But I’m not reading X-Men comics from this era so I doubt I’ll find out. So overall, nothing groundbreaking but it was a fun ride and I enjoyed seeing one of my favorite characters, Magneto. I’m curious to see what happens to Val and seemingly they dropped any kind of hint at an ulterior motive with Nighthawk this arc so still wondering if that’s a thing in the future. Next up Doctor Voodoo and Hellstrom!

Only thing I know about X Men Evolution is that Wolverine's costume has tasteful sideboob lol. tbh I didn't know anything about X-Men until 2020, when I was in a fandom discussion and someone mentioned Magneto and Charles Xavier and I had no clue who they were talking about. Then my best friend (she and her fiance love X-Men, especially Wolverine) convinced me to watch the 90s X-Men cartoon
Tumblr media
it’s fashion babyyyyy
I can’t speak to the 90s xmen stuff because my taste in animated shows is like. specifically that early 2000s era, with xmen evo and the animated justice league (unlimited) cartoons etc etc but the reason I love scott in evolution is because a) he’s a fucking dork. just a complete and total nerd who manages to say the weirdest shit imaginable with a straight face (I’m not sure if you’ve seen the “THEN TAKE IT RAW” scene but I’ve rb’d it several times on this blog so I encourage you to take a look if you haven’t already), b) hes very morally uptight but that doesnt always mean he agrees with his teammates (specifically there’s this scene where they’re doing a virtual training sequence and they programmed rogue to be the villain and he was Not Cool With It, even though at this specific time she was technically ‘The Bad Guy’) and seeing the contrast between what he thinks is Good or Right vs what Xavier and the others think is okay was really interesting, c) his relationships with the others? *chefs kiss* perfect. he’s a big brother in this show (can’t remember if he was older or younger than Alex in the movies or any other versions) and even though he believes Alex is dead for a good while in this show you can still tell he’s used to being a big bro cause he acts like it, especially w Kurt and kitty. It’s kinda sad to think about sometimes, yknow, that he had to grow up fast bc he lost his entire family at 10 yrs old so he’s Major Serious now but the younger members tend to bring out the kid in him and those moments have a special place in my heart. He’s incredibly loyal to the people he cares about and while it’s not always warranted & kind of stupid sometimes (cough cough, letting Alex convince him to trust magneto that one time, cough cough) it’s an admirable trait and it works in his favour a lot of the time, specifically when the xmen are trying to win over rogue (even though sometimes he tends to bulldoze over others in an effort to save his friends, regardless of whether or not they need it, he’s not an amazing listener at first but that changes with time lol), and d) it’s so much less annoying because he’s a teenager. the whole premise of this show is basically just the xmen but as kids except for Xavier, Storm & Wolverine, so all the stupid and/or annoying shit he does can be chalked up to him just being a dumbass kid. And it’s not as if he doesn’t learn from his mistakes or admit his faults because he does! He’s definitely bullheaded and he fucks up but he’s usually pretty good at admitting fault and moving on from it, which I was veryyyy relieved by. Like specifically his relationship with Rogue & Lance Alvers from the Brotherhood of Evil (yes that’s the actual name, I know it’s a ridiculously over-the-top, looney toons-esque kind of crazy, I still love it) is really interesting because you get the impression that Scott’s very set in this idea that people are (mostly) incapable of changing and so he’s very skeptical when Lance tries to initiate this whole courtship with Kitty, but when there’s inevitably a team up with the xmen and the brotherhood of dramatic names it ends with a sense of mutual respect from both scott and Lance… at least for that episode. With rogue it’s a bit different bc she’s not like looking to do harm, which scott recognizes (and I think he sees a bit of himself in her bc rogue is so lost when we’re first introduce to her and I can only imagine how he felt after losing his family & discovering he can shoot uncontrollable lasers from his eyes in the span of 24 hours) butttttt this is way too long already so I digress lol.
Again, don’t know much about the 90s cartoons but evo scott summers is wonderful, I loved the show when I was a kid and I still like it a lot even now :)

X-men and MHA should never come up in comparison and here’s why:
Okay so I think we need to address this massive elephants in the room while simultaneously addressing the fact that people severely miss two separate points that they’re are multiple elephants trapped in a room with us is more IMPORTANT to address than why they’re wearing silly little hats.
vvv Read more vvv
What am I on about? My hero academia’s badly put together Quirk discrimination and why on EARTH anyone is comparing it to the X-men is beyond me! Now before I start this I want to say a couple things, 1. I ask that you hear me out, its very easy to get upset when someone judges a thing you like but this is not with contempt for the series but the sadness in which Quirk discrimination is handled. And 2. I don’t read the manga, I don’t have the time nowadays so the anime is easier to watch when I’m doing desk or house work and my time is very stretched thin so even that is hard sometimes.
Now that that's out there, Let’s summarize: My hero academia is about a kid named Izuku who wanted to be a hero but was born without a super power, but through hard work is gifted one of the most overpowered super powers around.
X-men is about a series of people who all awakened to a mutant generic in them and struggle to fight for their civil rights, the mutant powers are an allegory and there are plenty or episodes that explore racism and anti-mutant people and some of them just hate different looking people and get rightfully schooled for it and some push past their prejudice to help mutants live and find happiness in our world. Not to mention some mutants sadly get hunted and killed sparking a more radicalized mutant faction in magneto’s side; and sadly as time went on he went from  “I’m gonna liberate and protect mutant lives.” to becoming a weird terrorist.
Regardless the summaries here will help flesh out and support the argument, now Let’s look at some mutant Quirk users, Ojiro, Froppy, kota and even spinner.
Spoilers for the most recent chapter of MHA: In the most recent chapter of the series the league of villains used Spinner as a foot-hole in the final battle by trying to spark an uprising among the “heteromorph” quirk users (Which is the mutation quirks that physically change a lot of people in MHA)  with Spinner s the figurehead.  SPOILER END!
Now I wanna say this, I’m caught up with the anime and its in its late seasons, towards the end of the series in fact and I KNOW for a fact no talk of Quirk discrimination was talked about, in fact AGAIN; Ojiro and Froppy aren’t treated any differently than their other classmates, except by people in our real world who think Ojiro is too ordinary while praising the kid with the fire and ice powers; and Idk about you but fire and ice are so generic and ordinary you can’t throw a stone without hitting a small group of elemental super heroes, I’m much more interested in seeing mutant quirks and how they triumph with the powers given to them.
And it’s a shame too cause the message of MHA is anyone can be a hero and the other message that the characters and series tries to push is that hard work can beat natural talent and genetic gifts, it’s one of the lessons Deku explains to Todoroki, his genetic don’t mean that the Quirk isn’t yours and yours alone.
Yet they decide to teach us the lesson of “Hard work can beat genetic gifts” by having the three strongest characters be two guys who had great genetics and got two powerful quirks and Izuku’s power being a genetic gift in which he gets MORE super powers gifted to him while Ojiro or Kota or Froppy have to work their asses off to be told by the fanbase they aren’t as interesting as stoic white bread Todorki or Dabi.  Hell Quirk discrimination makes zero sense when like the number 2 hero by the anime is a handsome guy with wings and one of the top 10 being a bunny girl; and even gang orca is high up their despite being a 7ft tall whale man;  MHA is so bad at the discrimination, and it’s weird that it would exist. Let’s talk about another part of the manga I came across on accident.  So on my way to my chiropractor's appointment I decided to scroll the internet and on twitter ran into people thirsting over this furry girl, and idk what she is if she’s a fox or a whale or whatever I don’t care, what DID spark my interest was the lack of reaction from Izuku or ANY of the heroes when she came up to Izuku and explained how she wasn’t allowed into a shelter because they said no mutants when….this is japan right? This is the same state that accepts and even has fan girls/boys in universe lusting over Hawks and Ryuko but this girl can’t get into a shelter? Now I know it mimics real life to a degree but they say that these heroes are unanimously picked there’s zero complaints, and the many times our heroes could have something to say about it.
HALF of the are mutations, you’re telling me Jiro the girl with the headphone jack ears is treated differently somewhere? Someone is gonna call her a slur? Are you serious? Or the fact that Jiro and Ojiro and tokoyami and so on are all friends but not a single one of them piped up about Quirk discrimination….ever??
So when I see people saying that its on par or better than X-men I feel like you’re missing the point of both series. MHA was never about Quirk discrimination to the degree it affected the main characters, we have a mention from a background fox girl and not Hawks or Froppy or even Ojiro! The cast don't react to fox girl's statement, and discrimination talk would be nice to see, seriously it be nice to see the others back them up cause they don’t stand for that crap and it be nice to see Izuku or others have more reactions to give than a passing glace or a slight glare, discrimination is a SERIOUS topic and it’s one of the things ruining our world today and X-men is LEAGUES above MHA in that regard, the only time it happens is when SPINNER FREAKNING SPINNER gets to make other mutant quirk uses radicalize for the bad guys to become meat shields to bar the heroes and not the heroes fighting to protect people of all different walks of life.
Deku and Todoroki always talk about how they wanna redeem cold blooded murderers who aren’t at all sorry but talking about racism and the mistreatment of their friends with tails, nah. What about those mutant characters getting screentime? Nope not at all.
Say what you will about X-men but the viewer at least gets to see other mutants get screentime, there are people who have powers too weak to work alone who thrive on teams and still get their own chapters in their comics or get to shine in video games amongst other media; and IF FOX DIDN’T OWN THEM! We could have had more X-men. (But that's an entirely different and painful topic for later) but let’s not pretend MHA is about discrimination on the Level of X-men, cause X-men had it’s discussions on prejudices and alienation and even had some causes the heroes overlooked and apologized for and then got to work making it up to them.
But MHA? Come on the elephant that is X-men is a completely different type of elephant than the Mha one and to compare them is like saying a tiger and a cat are the exact same creature and their upbringings and surroundings don’t factor in to two completely different creatures or stories, see? I tied it back in!
And the reason why the elephants are wearing hats is because their circus creatures, like the people who came up with this asinine comparison, Frankly I’d LOVE for MHA to talk more about these things, but a random background character bringing up in passing and a minor villain even in his own group being used to hold the line with the bodies of the discriminated is...awful when you don’t even let the cast have opinions on discrimination, its easier to root for X-men cause they don’t tolerate that crap but it seems like the MHA cast through the writers and producers want to pretend it’s not even a real issue.
If you read this far thank you, if you disagree please take your elephants and return to the circus from where you belong, thank you very much!
I love MHA but it has an issue with how sudden and crammed in the Quirk discrimination plotine came out to be like when the fox said that I was like “wait they get discriminated?” and this was before the villains were unlocking new powers which kinda spits in the face of the hard work message when Ojiro and octopus guy can’t catch a break but like the blood drinking girl can now use other people’s powers huh? Seems completely fair, what does spinner get? Nothing? Okay!
Anyway I personally think that Horikoshi should of addressed this plotline from the start, maybe make it like froppy or Ojiro’s motivation, maybe make it that they don’t make proper clothing for people with wings or tails or that hawks is the 10th hero and despite being so powerful never rises above that rank for some reason, it just that this is a too little too late situation, and I don’t wanna start patting him on the back for the bare minimum of screentime dedicated to the fact some people just don’t have it as well off as you or I may have it.
Anyway thanks again for reading this, protect black, Asian, Pakistan lives among every minorities lives and treat them the way you’d like your loved ones to be treated and have a nice day, I hope this gave you something to think on.

Top five magneto moments from the X-Men movies?
Ohhh...lemme think. (I tried picking from different films. It's not really in any order of preference, just scenes I think are neat.
1. aka the first one. I mean, not the first-first one or the second one or- but the first scene with Charles and Erik being Like That and doing their thing.
Tumblr media
There's already at least one pretty popular post about why this scene is so damn good and how it tells us so much about these guys' dynamic without telling us much at all and I just really think it's well-done, well-acted. Especially since in the og movies, Mags and Charles aren't the main-characters so they don't get that much screen-time but this is what we need to know and there is just so much being communicated. I was kind of torn whether to pick this one or the very last one of the film but I chose this one bc I feel like the first one is more about Magneto (we already know he's going to be the villain right here, we learn what motivates him, we get some of the trademark bitchiness Ian McKellen brings to the character. Good stuff. Also when he walks off like: "We're the future, Charles! Not them! They no longer matter!" So much going on here.) while the end-one is more about Professor X. Also, for me the last scene actually elevates this one even further because of the way it makes this exchange frame the entire narrative of the film. You do get the sense that Charles and Erik are two chessplayers moving their pieces with the whole "What are you doing here?" - "Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers?" and -
Tumblr media
Like, you just get the sense that everything that happened between those scenes is just a little bit beneath them. It isn't any major break or change in their lives or relationship, they're the same as before and that also gives you an idea about the kind of history these guys already got to have.
2). Obviously.
Tumblr media
Iconic. Show-stopping. Do I even need to say anything? Probably one of my favourite prison-break scenes ever put on screen. Everything about it. The dialogue, the violence, the "never trust a beautiful woman - especially one that's interested in you", the camera movement, the wink, the glass shattering and the cell coming apart, Ian McKellen floating on a metal/blood frisbee. This one has it all. Some physics guy on YouTube actually made a video about how powerful Magneto has to pull this off and apparently, this is a lot more impressive than any of the major property damage we see him cause across films.
3. Ah yes the Villa Gesell scene
Tumblr media
Lemme say first: This scene is completely and utterly pointless from a plot-perspective. It's literally just a character moment. And I love character moments. It's just there to show us who Erik is and the film bends over backwards to justify this scene being in it: An entire stack of coincidences that is Shaw's photo hanging on the wall of this pub with the name of his boat clearly visible and he's sitting next to the two Nazis who happen to be sitting in this very pub right there and then and of course one of them has his Nazi knife with him (which is a very weird mixture of a Hitler Youth knife and an SS Honour Dagger and even ignoring that it's a mess bc they even forgot that German capitalises its nouns so why is the inscription all lower case and I'm the most annoying person on the planet to watch movies with but t-)
And the thing is - I actually like this entire scene even more for all of that. Because they could have just had that Swiss banker tell Mags where Shaw is. But instead, his entire trip to Argentinia is in there to let us see Erik kill Nazis and we get an exact sense of what he's doing with his life, who he is, how he is - and also did I mention dead Nazis? - I live for that (and also for a deleted scene where he sees a mother and her kid at the Argentinian airport and has a flashback and 😢).
I also like that it continues the pattern we get in the bank scene where he doesn't confront his targets directly but sets them up to incriminate themselves. We also get the "Frankenstein's Monster"-line which is something I have a lot of thoughts about - especially bc the whole "what makes us human/monsters"-question is a big deal in the movie. Also-also it sets up Charles 'head empty' moment from the finale of the movie where he tells Erik that the people CURRENTLY FIRING FUCKING NUCLEAR MISSILES AT THEM are just 'good innocent men' who are 'just following orders' and you just get the sense of how often Erik has heard this shit (also...thinking about how this film is set in 1962, meaning right after the Eichmann trial). There's just. A lot going on.
4. Oh let's be controversial!
Tumblr media
ok I know this is something I know a lot of people hold against Erik and say it's one of his meanest and most unfair moments. but honestly? His anger is at least as earned as Charles' at this point and any take on this scene that is "one of them is right and the other is wrong" is ...boring. Erik once again lost people he cared about, he spent ten years in solitary confinement for a crime he didn't commit, he just learnt that literally everything that he warned about in the last film will happen (already has happened, partially), pretty much word for word ("Identification, that's how it starts. And ends with being rounded up, experimented on, eliminated.) to the point that an actual TIME-TRAVELLER comes back from the fucking future to tell them how bad they all fucked up.
(One of the things I like is that he doesn't make a difference between people who chose his side and people who chose Charles' side - he names Banshee along with Emma, Azazel, Angel. He's just sad about all of them. Generally, I'm still prissy that we never got to see him go full Magneto for any length of time in the prequels so him speaking of 'mutant brothers and sisters' is the closest we get to knowing what he would be like if they didn't always find some new weird between-movies plot for him like prison or starting a family in Poland or starting a leftist commune on an island - although I can kind of respect that one.)
Also anyone who ever had the misfortune of actually hearing me talk about this movie for any lengths of time knows I have...a lot of thoughts about Erik and his time in solitary confinement and I like that the first times we see his powers after he gets out after ten years of no metal, it's a huge mess. Erik as we know him from First Class would probably just wave his hands at those guards in the Pentagon kitchen and kill them with a few well-aimed knives in a blink of an eye - but this time around, he trashes the entire room and hits no one. And in the plane scene we see him lose control completely and almost bring down the plane once he snaps and you really get the sense that after ten years, he's no longer used to having metal around that reacts to his powers.
Also, in that same scene the mutual acknowledgement between him and Logan in the end? I liked that.
5. (almost) all scenes where he's just a giant menace to infrastructure and important landmarks.
Tumblr media
Like the fact that he destroyed the Sydney opera house is just such a casual by-note, we don't even talk about that one. It's just how it goes, you know? The only let-down is that he literally went to France without taking down the Eiffel-Tower in DOFP? A giant metal structure? This is a serious oversight by the writers and really cheapens the whole movie-going experience. 2/10.

I prefer DC because they explore the stories of the villians as much as the heroes. Marvel movies get boring to me because they're only about the "good" guys. But I don't read comics, so take that for what you will 😂
[re: this post]
I follow both and I enjoy both (especially Superman, Legion of Superheroes and the Teen Titans), but I’m a Marvel boy at heart because I can actually visit the cities their heroes inhabit, and more importantly, their heroes are flawed. They have feet of clay and don’t always do the right thing. Sooo many Marvel characters started off by doing the wrong and selfish thing (Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Black Widow, etc) and only later on did they see the error of their ways. These are characters who I can relate to, because I’m imperfect like a mf. Even when they’re billionaires, they aren’t aren’t cookie cutter perfect people. And yeah, I kinda blend the comics universe in with the cinematic universe, but the comics universe is wayyy better than the movies. Hands down. I especially hate the way Marvel Tony Starkified everything, from “replacing” Ben Parker as a father figure, to making Stark such an integral and central character in the MCU. I’m still heated that the Infinity Wars couldn’t include the Silver Surfer, the Fantastic Four Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the X-Men —the MCEU even introduced Adam Warlock (kinda) and then didn’t use him in Endgame. WTF?
As far as villains go, I’ll die on the hill that Magneto is one of the singular best developed bad guys—mostly because he was based loosely off of Malcolm X, and Professor-X & the X-Men were the more “acceptable” (ie., whitewashed and sanitized) face of the Civil Rights movement.
Anyway, I’ve bought comic books ever since I could illegally earn a dollar (age 10, I’m 37 now), and Iron-Man never ever made it into my top 100 comics </end rant>

Anyone who knows me knows i like dorky shit, and i have an affinity for the villains in said dorky shit. I truly love me a good villain, bonus points if there is no shitty sympathetic backstory, just good ol' evil, on top of more evil. That being said, i present to you the next evolution in the never-ending turmultuous state of organization that my house is in: The Villains Corner. Here to constantly remind me that the jedi are shit, the x-men are clowns, superman is a punk, tom nook would be nothing without isabelle's mastermind schemes, he-man will never have as many memes as skeletor, waluigi should be in smash, and link is.....well, i like link, i'll be honest. He gets a pass. This picture is to immortalize this concept before I decide to change it in like 10-15 minutes. #darthmaul #darthvader #generalgrievous #emperorpalpatine #starwars #magneto #lexluthor #isabelle #skeletor #waluigi #majorasmask #skullkid https://www.instagram.com/p/CQlzX8zrNw4/?utm_medium=tumblr

10 Favorite Supervillains
Lex Luthor
My favorite supervillain. There have been many diffrent versions, some as a mad scientist, others a corrupt buisness man, sometimes a combination, but what I feel defines Lex is his great intellect, his hatred for superman (Be it either personal or just on principal ) and a massive ego .He wishes to prove the might of man by killing a god
Tumblr media
The Kingpin/Wilson Fisk
Foe of Spiderman and archenemy of Daredevil,The Kingpin posesses great intellect, powerful connections  and monstrous strength ,a deadly opponent for any hero
Tumblr media
The Joker
Joker has been interpreted many ways ,from a goofy trickster to a sadistic killer .I personally prefer the interpretation him as a villainous  ham ,who does murder and mayhem because he thinks it’s funny, often engaging in over the top schemes
Tumblr media
Doctor Doom/Victor Von Doom
Fantastic design + an ego the size  of Jupiter=One entertaining villain
Tumblr media
Galactus
What I find interesting about Galactus is he isn’t evil.Sure he eats worlds but he isnt malicious ,more just appathetic about the destruction he causes in his quest to satisfy hia hunger
Tumblr media
The Shredder/Oruku Saki
Another villain who has been interpreted a number of ways ,sometimes a deadly foe others a bit of a bufoon, butwhatever direction he is taken he is usually entertaining and helped by an amazing design
Tumblr media
Vandal Savage
An immortal caveman who has also been many of the great conquerors across history.....Thats just an awesome premise for a villain
Tumblr media
Green Goblin/Norman Osborne
Spider-man  has had many villains who could claim to be his arch enemy but I feel his most personal enemy .Heck he was DEAD for a good portions of Spider-Mans history ,and yet he is the enemy who haunted him the most and has left the biggest impact
Tumblr media
Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr
While technically a villain ,he is one with a understandable motive and has even been a hero a few times,MAgneto is a fascinating antagonist
Tumblr media
Darkseid
A god who litterally gets his power from how miserable he can make people .Most of my love is for his DCAU incarnation with Michel Ironsides cold eloquent delivery

@animecat33 tagged me for this
Rules: Name 10 characters from 10 different fandoms that you like, then tag 10 people.
I enjoyed this but... At first I thought, do I even have 10 I consider favs? And then I ended up with a list of, like, 25, and couldn’t pick 10 so I chose more or less at random. And I admit I cheated seeing as some kind of fit in the same fandom in some way.
It’s just too hard picking favorites.
Undercut, cause it’s gonna be a loooong post.
1. Morticia Addams (Addams Family)
Tumblr media
My tattoo probably makes this one obvious.
I love Morticia so much, not only do I love her aesthetic, I just love her personality and attitude, not to mention her marriage is ‘goals’ and as a mother and matriarch she’s incredibly supportive and loving despite the unorthodox life the Addams’ live. I love a character that can be a mother without having it define her completely.
2. Catwoman/Selina Kyle (DC)
Tumblr media
Selina was one of my OG crushes back before I even understood what I crush was or that being queer was even a thing (looking at you, Michelle Pfiffer).
I love her style and strength and personality (when she's well written), her grey morals and competence, and cats are just my thing, ok? Plus bisexual icon.
Have you noticed I have a thing for a dark women with grey morals?
3. Raven/Rachel Roth (Teen Titans/DC)
Tumblr media
I kinda share a name with Raven but that's not why I like her. I've always loved the emotional complexity of this character, her incredible power (and how it's also her weakness), and style as well. I'm not too thrilled about some more recent incarnations of her but she'll always be an OG fav.
4. Nightwing/Dick Grayson (DC)
Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah, DC again, look the other way, please (they have individual comics anyway).
I couldn't leave out my darling Dickie. I grew up with this dude and I love his backstory and relationship with his family. He's a beautiful ray of sunshine with a dark streak, a competent leader without being a broody bossy jerk like some and he's very well rounded and consistent in his characterization (plus that design is top notch). I know the Romani thing was a ret-con on something just vaguely implied in the past but honestly it was a good one and some much needed rep despite the constant whitewashing (though not as bad as others in his family).
Also, he drinks his 'respect woman juice', he's flawed without being edgy, and has been queer-coded and female-troped for decades which makes him much more likeable as a male character. He actually became an LGBT icon despite the cowards at DC constantly trying to shove heteronormativity into his storyline.
5. Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond (Steve Universe)
Tumblr media
Is she problematic? Yes and that's part of the appeal.
I already loved Rose when she was this sweet, compassionate and wise old soul, this rebel and leader and mother with many secrets.
I guessed really early on that she was PD so that part didn't surprise me but when the backstory of her as PD finally appeared to give us so more in-depth knowledge I was surprised by the amount of hate the character got. To me, her flaws, pain, mistakes and growth were part of the allure.
Also, gorgeous and much needed plus-size rep. I loved cosplaying her more than anything.
6. Princess Leia (Star Wars)
Tumblr media
Did I like her style or design? Nope, I much prefer her mother's but Leia is an immensely competent, wise, strong female character that takes no bullshit from the male-dominated plot around her, she deserved so much better. Honestly, she deserved her own goddamn movie.
Carrie Fisher was a feminist icon and an advocate for mental illness visibility. She's was also fucking hilarious. All this translated into Leia's character very well and she deserved so much better from society than being sexualized in a metal bikini and remembered that way forever.
7. Hela (Thor Ragnarok/Marvel)
Tumblr media
I already loved Hela's character in the comics (except the arc where she sexually abuses Thor, that was shitty edgelord writing and I refuse to acknowledge it's existence) but Ragnarok gave her a whole new meaning.
Firstly, my God is she hot! Just.... Umpf! Step on me, queen.
Secondly, she's dark and evil but she has a goddamn point (people are hypocrites). And in the comics she's not even evil, she's neutral and only a villain because she opposes Thor on a personal level. She's also incredibly competent at what she does and if that isn't a turn-on idk what is.
8. Korra (Legend of Korra)
Tumblr media
Korra will always be bae. There's a reason my behemoth of a fic revolved around her.
Not only is she incredibly well-rounded and fun, she's also very competent, has a fascinating backstory and is immensely powerful, plus she grows beautifully through her show. Not to mention she's GORGEOUS.
POC and LGBT rep, plus she showcased one of the most incredible arcs on disability and recovery that I've ever seen in a family show.
9. Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff (Marvel)
Tumblr media
You can pry Wanda from my cold dead hands.
I'm not even the biggest fan of her movie version, I'm all about comic Wanda.
POC rep and an incredibly visceral portrayal of mental illness and trauma. And she's beautiful beyond reason, morally grey, and powerful as hell.
Most of all what I like about Wanda is how loyal and family-oriented she is without letting it diminish her as an individual or as a powerhouse character, so many female characters loose all agency and individuality when they have kids, they get delegated to role of mother and lose their heroics or become extensions of their husbands and children, Wanda was nothing like that. Her relationship with her brother is fascinating too (let's pretend the incesty vibes in certain alt universes don't exist).
I only hate that she and Pietro always get the short stick in adaptations and their origins keep getting needlessly retconned (Magneto's kids with his Romani wife, raised by someone else- that's it, stop trying to change it and then change it back over and over). That and how she's not allowed to have her well deserved relationship with her babies because of stupid old-fashioned comic rules that led to a needlessly convuloted and far-fetch story arc (the erasure, reencarnation and hyper-aging of her sons).
10. Jessica Rabbit (WFRR)
Tumblr media
For most people, Jessica's appeal is "she's hot" and yes, this "pinup femme fatale" look really does things to me, I won't lie about that, but that's not why she's my favorite.
Jessica is fav because she's loyal and loving to her goofy husband, she completely turns the femme fatale trope upside down for love and doesn't give a damn about looks, she uses her appearance as a weapon and she's confident but she's clearly not vain ("I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way" and "He makes me laugh"). She's also hilarious in her own deadpan way.
.
Other worthy mentions to this list are:
Wednesday Addams
Mystique (Marvel)
Shuri (Marvel)
Maleficent (Disney)
Vanya Hargreeves (TUA)
Blind Mag (Repo!)
Venom (Marvel)
Lust (FMA)
Evelyn O'Connell (The Mummy)
Alice Lidell (Alice Madness)
Jessica Jones (Marvel)
The Kagamine twins (vocaloid)
Amon (LoK)
Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha)
Loki (Marvel comics)
Liadan (Sevenwaters)
Furiosa (Mad Max: Fury Road)
Crowley (Good Omens)
Jericho (Titans/DC)
Sadako Yamamura (from the Ring BOOKS)
Susan Sto-Helit (Discworld)
.

so i saw a “top 10 sexiest x-men” list and wanted to make my own, and now y’all are stuck with that.
for demographic reference, i’m a gay androgyne whose main requirements for “sexy” are either “can they kick my ass in a traditional fistfight” or “do they have that old school villain glam?”
here we go:
10 - kurt - we’re gonna start this list with arguably an honorable mention. kurt is really hot when artists let him be hot. unfortunately, he is also Extremely Babey in many incarnations and thus i cannot rank him higher
9 - corporal summers - this take on scott is hot for his heroism and his cloak. you will understand if you read greg pak’s run on x-treme x-men
8 - daken - adult male wolverine-adjacent dudes are hot. i rank daken lowest among them because his weird emotion hormone powers make me Extremely Uneasy
7 - storm - storm is so fucking hot and i really don’t have to explain that to you, you definitely already know.
6 - beast - this fucker would rank higher if it wasn’t for how shitty his personality can get. i’m not a furry but for him i dabble. he ranks higher in my movie-specific rankings, but he’s only #6 here
5 - emma - she’s literally made to be sexy. that’s what she’s there for. plus she’s so fucking competent and there’s nothing hotter than competence on a villain-turned-heroine-turned-villain-turned-???
4 - logan - he’s ridiculously hot, except for his period licking charles’ dead boots. for some reason i’m into his shitty wild man routine and tbh? the sexual tension he has with scott basically all the time in 95% of universes is probably most of why he ranks so high. i want logan wolverine to fucking plow scott summers
3 - mystique - romijn’s mystique was a big part of me realizing i was legit into woman-shaped people, and comics mystique has a lot of the same bad girl appeal as emma does.
2 - sabretooth - i know. i know how bad he is. but............him Huge. and sometimes a b*tch is just into that. also they got liev schreiber to play him in the movies and schreiber is just....hnnghh.
1 - magneto - this is an easy toss but like, fuck, man. he murders nazis, has always been built like a brick shithouse, has good politics most of the time...what’s not to love? that said, if i was single, i still would not risk it, given his dick game produced between 2 and 4 children and i’m not getting stuck with number 3/number 5+.
