Natsu Dragneel thinks Lucy Heartfilia is weird and these are the reasons why:
- The first time he meets her, she thanks him and he’s confused because he didn’t do shit except get beat up by random women, yet she tells him that she’s somehow thankful for him
- She treats him and Happy to food, and they alternate between listening to her and stuffing their faces with meat. She talks about magic and guilds, and gushes about Fairy Tail and dreams of joining his family
- She wrecks an entire harbor and freaks out, as if Natsu didn’t do half the damage himself, but joins him when he invites her to run away with him
- Lucy is so confusing, Natsu thinks. She wears clothes that reveal much of her skin, uses her sex appeal for bargains, reads those romance novels, but gets shy at the slightest talks of love
- She forms a team with him and he picks a job requiring a blonde maid, and he thinks it’s so silly of her to dress up with a maid costume and call him master
- He finds out she’s an heiress, and he almost wants to laugh because she’s an heiress of railways and trains, and he actually laughs when he realizes that Lucy had been affecting him even before they met
- She acts like a princess most of the time, obvious in how she speaks and carries herself, and Natsu is once again reminded that she grew up with wealth but then some of her quirks show through, like how thrifty she is with money, and the irony of it all isn’t lost on him
- She looks for love most of the time, and when the opportunity presented itself in a black-haired guy who loved to read and was interested in celestial spirits, she blew it all off to join him and Happy on a job
- She jumps off a fucking tower just because she knew he’d catch her, and he did but for a second he thought he wouldn’t make it, and when he catches her, his heart beats so loudly it could almost burst out of his ribcage
- He is confused; he died as a human, was brought to life as a demon, and grew up as the son of a dragon, and lived life as a fairy tail mage. He asks Lucy how he looks like and she smiles and says like Natsu, and he collapses against her chest in relief
- Lucy cries a lot and it is a common misconception that she’s the weakest one in their team, but Natsu knows Lucy is definitely the strongest
- He is once again confused when she doubts her abilities because why would she ever feel like she is the weakest? She is a Celestial spirit mage who has 10 out of the 12 Zodiac keys, all of whom adore her in addition to having the Celestial Spirit King’s favor, she’s done leaps and bounds in terms of magic, especially for someone who has only started seriously using their magic at age 17 whereas the entire guild has started practicing it ever since they were kids, and Lucy is one of the best mages in Fairy Tail despite her incredibly short time in wielding her power
- She breaks into him and Happy’s house to clean, and throws a fit when she realizes they weren’t coming home, but softens up when she finds them asleep in her apartment
- She’s weird. She’s so weird and loud and she hides inside a clock to escape the cold weather instead of just wearing a jacket.
- He loves her, though. Natsu would never trade Lucy for anything, he loves her with all of his heart, all of her weirdness and quirky traits and the way she hugs him is nice and she smells comforting and he feels safe around her

fairy tail headcanons bc why not
Natsu has the neatest handwriting out of the kids the grew up in Fairy Tail (Gray, Erza, Cana, Levy, etc..), Erza has the worst one.
Romeo's last name is actually Rose. His Dad and His Mom divorced, and he chose to have his Mom's last name since she raised him better anyways. So, his full name's Romeo Rose. Wendy told him his name was pretty. He blushed with pink fire coming out of his nose
Speaking of Romeo and Wendy, they're besties. They be gossiping about guild drama behind all they backs. Wendy knows about shit she shouldn't because Romeo was both literally and figuratively born in the guild
Lucy has Aquarius. Yukino has Scorpio. The two wizards are straight pen pals bc of it
Loke and Aries are dating. Ophiuchus was the only Zodiac to know.
Rogue cannot handle alcohol. He drinks mocktails
When the Barbie Movie came out, The kids who grew up in Fairy Tail dressed up in extravagant pink. Gajeel, Lucy, and Juvia went to go see Oppenheimer.
Romeo, Wendy, and Sherria are the friends you wouldnt expect to be friends
During when the gang was gone for seven years, Romeo got all of their clothes from when they were kids. He keeps them in his room. The gang knows, but doesn't comment on it seeing as they practically raised the kid.
Romeo's mom is a member of Quatro Cerberus. She was banished from Magnolia on something she didn't commit. After The GMG, she was allowed back. The Fairy Kid gang calls her "Auntie Enno"
Levy is the most "like that" out of the Fairy Kids. She has a glock and everything. When she was younger she always wanted the smoke.
Freed is the most "like that" out of the Thunder Legion. The Wizard Saints fear him. The Council fears him. Laxus loves him.
Bickslow's babies have deemed Lisanna as they mama. Bickslow doesn't mind.
Lisanna came back to the guild and immediately turned bi. Too many hot ladies and pretty men.
Yukino's first kiss was Minerva when they were like 12. Yukino didn't know it was Minerva until she met her in Sabertooth.
Minerva, Sting, Rogue, Orga, Rufus, and Yukino all had a plan to try and off Jiemma. Sting just snapped enough to get him early.
Yukino actually constantly compares herself to Lucy a lot. Yukino's dream was to get all 13 zodiac keys, but Lucy has them, so she backed off. She came very close to breaking all her contracts even after when she had her convo with Lucy. Her and Ophiuchus had a very heartfelt convo afterwards.
All dragons have a "dragon thing." Wendy can stop storms in their tracks several countries away. Gajeel's a human metal detector and magnet. Sting's a human glowstick. Rogue can bend rooms to his will if they're pitch black. Natsu has the highest spice tolerance in all of Earthland, AND he sheds scales regularly that can be mini-bombs if used correctly.
All dragon slayers (THAT HAD DRAGON PARENTS) are 85% dragon and 15% human. I didn't make the rules. They all have tails and horns and visible scales.
Dragon Slayers have a hoard network where they share treasures (i'll elaborate on this later)

Just My Thoughts Pt. 6
Aquarius
Did Lucy ever tell anyone (even Natsu) about sacrificing Aquarius?! Aquarius, who was one of Lucy’s very first keys given by her mother who passed away when she was still young and left alone with her father who completely disregarded her?! Aquarius, who was Lucy’s first friend since there was no one her age around her? Aquarius, who despite being rude towards Lucy, loves her with all her heart?! Aquarius, who knows how important Fairy Tail is to Lucy that she is willing to have her key be broken in order to summon the Celestial Spirit King?!
I don’t think her sacrifice is given the attention it deserves because Lucy had to choose between her guild and her spirit. It was not the easiest choice to make. In addition to this, the guild disbanded and left her alone soon after the battle with Tartarus ended. Natsu left (and yes I understand he was also grieving the loss of Igneel who he was searching for years before he even met Lucy) with Happy and Lucy was all alone. She kept track of everyone as best as she could but no one cared to do the same with her. Fairy Tail was supposed to her safe place after escaping from her dad and former life. She gave so much to Fairy Tail in the short time since she joined.
I feel like while Natsu did his best by getting the guild back together after he returned, Lucy didn’t get a proper apology or recognition. I don’t think anyone even knew about Aquarius after being reunited. While Natsu did mention that he felt like Lucy was the one who saved them in Tartarus, it was never mentioned if she explained how and what she had to do in order to save everyone. The topic was just brushed off and never brought up again.
Speaking of the guild reunion, Lucy is a better person than I will ever be because I would’ve been so mad at Natsu. He left with just a letter without considering how Lucy would’ve left. Lucy, who he took to the guild in the first place. Lucy, who he made a team with (and I would like to note that before Lucy joined FT, Natsu didn’t seem to be close with anyone in the guild, but after she joined, he became friends with most of them). Lucy, his best friend. She didn’t even mention her own grief and loss when they met again after a whole year. She forgave him so fast. I’m so upset about that!!!!
The 100 year quest just makes me made when I see Aquarius. I really do appreciate her being included since she is very special to Lucy. Don’t get me wrong, I love how Aquarius is more willing to show her tender feelings toward Lucy and it just makes their bond more precious. I just don’t like how the sacrifice was brushed off. No one comments on how she’s just appearing without Lucy summoning her.
Do they even know Aquarius has a broken key?! Not to mention, it’s a golden zodiac key. It’s rare and one of a kind. Do they know that Lucy is looking for the key?! Are they gonna help her?!
I feel like it was just ignored and I don’t like it one bit. Lucy needs everyone to apologize and thank her properly for saving them. Or at least acknowledging her hard work and dedication to the guild, especially since the her sacrifice was years and years of memories and a special bond with her zodiac spirit.

No cuz do you ever just realize how powerful lucy is?
She was able to conjure ALL of her celestial spirits, 3 or 4 of them being fricking ZODIACS, all at once and being powerful enough to be recognized by the celestial spirit king? And all in the first season? Where she hasn’t even had her star dresses and other abilities she has learned?
Not to mention this theory about her being a descendent of the goddess Anna, the best Celestial Spirit user.
And im rewatching it rn, and ive already encountered a moment where if she didnt interfere, natsu would have died. The arc with phantom lord where natsu is battling gajeel? Gajeel had eaten iron but there was no fire for natsu to eat, and so Lucy gave him that fire by using Sagittarius. Without that fire, natsu definitely wouldnt have finished that fight.
People are always saying ‘oh well that may be so, but if she hadn’t joined the guild-‘ Phantom lord would have most definitely attacked them for another reason. They wanted to remain the best guild in Fiore. Fairytail challenged that, so it was just a matter of time before they fought.
“Well, she always gets in their way-“ Yeah, considering the fact that she grew up in a household where her fathers only concern was the family line, she wouldn’t exactly have time to practice her magic. The only spirit she really had was Aquarius, and we can infer that she only brought her out on very few occasions. And she also wouldn’t have been able to build up any target practice or any muscle building, since Jude would say, in the stupid old fashioned way, ‘women don’t need muscles. All you need to do is make yourself look presentable to find a husband.’ He definitely wouldn’t have wanted her practicing her magic.
Meanwhile, all the others grew up in an environment where they could practice their magic freely with other wizards. They had teachers and activities that enhanced their magic and physical builds, she didn’t. So of course she wouldn’t be able to be on their level so soon.
Also, the amount of magic it takes to summon a silver spirit is a lot, but even MORE so for a Zodiac. Mashima explained that it pretty much is on a scale from 1-100. Plu being the easiest to summon at one, and her highest silver key being Lyra at 18. Her golden keys on the other hand, has Aquarius at 100 and the lowest being Cancer at 52. Others talk about the spirits only being able to use as much magical power as Lucy uses to summon them, but i doubt that theory/statement.
And its also amazing even then because she can keep those gates open for a tremendous amount of time, and multiple on some occasions. I don’t know if this part is true, but i believe that the mage has to have at-least some level of concentration on the gate for it to keep open, so if that’s correct, then it makes it even more astounding that she is able to focus on the bond at all times while fighting. And i only say this because her spirits go back to the spirit realm when she is knocked out.
Also during the E.N.D arc, (haven’t gotten there yet, seen bits and pieces) she literally REWRITES the E.N.D book that Zeref HIMSELF wrote. She literally rewrote his fate. And yes, i know that Gray was there to help her out, but at the same time, most people would have still not have been able to handle the mental and physical strain that causes.
And im just guessing on this part, but didnt she learn an entirely new part of her magic by someone in blue pegasus and learned how to preform the spell in like a week? Month? Some other very short time span?
Anyways i just love lucy and i would litterally rather show everyone my ao3 library before letting her get hurt/bashed. Lmao

Lucy Heartfilia x dying reader
Tumblr media
FYI, this request was sent in by a friend of mine. I wouldn't normally accept a request this vague.
-This depends on if it's an illness or injury. So, I'll just do both.
Illness
-If it's something that starts off as a cold she'll tell you it'll get better sooner or later. Maybe lend you some medicine she has.
-She advises you to not see a doctor, either because it's to expensive or it's just inconvenient to take up a doctor's time for something that cold be the common cold.
-Once the sickness proceeds to last longer than expected, she tells you to see a doctor. Which is usually about a week or two. Either that or your symptoms haven't improved.
-She goes to the doctor with you so you at least have someone to talk to and comfort you in a difficult situation.
-Once you get diagnosed with a deadly illness she starts asking all sorts of questions. Can you be treated? Is there anything she can do to help?
-Even with a low chance of survival, she is constantly working to try and bring your survival rate up.
Injury
-This one is arguably worse than the other.
-Yes you'll die quicker, so the pain is over soon. But less time to try and save you.
-If your bleeding out, she'll take parts of her own clothes to try and stop the blood from leaking out.
-She knows she'll have to buy it again and she hates spending money on the same thing twice, but she has to realize what is replaceable.
-She definitely try one of her Zodiacs and see if they can heal you. Any chance she doesn't her keys on her she begins to lose hope.
-She obviously calls for medical attention if it's possibly available.
-Any chance you death is slow, she's sticking by you for every second to make sure you have someone to comfort you.
-She constantly on the verge of tears but is trying to wear a smile for you.
-No matter what happened, death came for you.
-She finally begins crying after holding her emotions inside.
-Lucy is very clearly heartbroken over this and goes for anyone close for reassurance.
-Even after a while, anything that reminds her of you makes her want to cry, but it also reminds her to be happy you were in her life.

Whumptober 2023 2: Delirium Or: Lucy's First Summons
Lucy Heartfilia had exceptional talent as a Celestial Spirit mage. Barely past ten years old and able to summon a zodiac spirit on her own.
Aquarius placed another wet towel on the young mage’s head. Much like the last time, the little girl barely noticed through her haze of fever.
Yes, Lucy had exceptional talent as a Celestial Spirit mage. But a ten year old could only do so much.
And look what happened again? Yet another Heartfilia suffering from magic deficiency because of her.
She knew she shouldn’t have answered the call from her gate. The wound was still fresh, too untouched for time to let the sorrow settle, she just wanted to be left alone for a while. No baths, no boyfriends, no anything.
But this was Layla’s daughter. A sweet little girl with not enough kids her age and more than enough wide-open emptiness cooped up in the house Jude locked them in. One who had rummaged through recently-decreed forbidden halls and found a ring of keys on top the nightstand next to a now vacant bed.
So that magic didn’t just call, it cried. It cried of loneliness and isolation, of having to comprehend one of the hardest but most inevitable shifts in one’s life, of reaching out with one of Lady Layla’s treasures and hoping to find a connection there.
And as much as she tried, Aquarius simply couldn’t turn away from that.
So she answered. Only for a few minutes though.
She took the towel off Lucy’s head. Even under all those quilt blankets the child was still shivering.
A few minutes was enough though, and a child just coming into their magic wouldn’t know the difference between mild fatigue and a major case of magic deficiency. And once she noticed Aquarius had exited and re-entered the gate with her own power this time, but the damage had already been done.
The chair next to her shifted.
Aquarius gripped the towel tight. “She’s going to be okay, right?”
“Yep.” With a few peppy plucks of her trusted harp for show, Lyra patted the water bearer on the back. “Trust me, it looks a lot worse than it actually is. Give it a few days and she’ll be back to normal.”
Cancer took the towel from Aquiariu’s hands, careful not to cut it with his pincer-grade scissors. “It’s not your fault, ebi.”
They tended to avoid passing through the gates under their own power for a reason. Worlds outside the stars simply didn’t mix with them and it always took much longer to recover. So any spirit with a good head on them ought to know not to make a regular practice of hanging around the humans.
But this was Layla’s child. And the image of a bed being occupied by a Celestial Mage mumbling incoherent words in her sleep was much too soon for the three of them.
They couldn’t keep watch over the child as much as any of them would have liked, but they would certainly try.
A shaky hand reached for the air. Under the coat of delirium, the faint whisper of mama could be heard.
With a reluctant sigh, Aquarius took it. “Fine. Just this once.”
Despite the fact that Aquarius was no Layla, Lucy seemed to relax a little more in her sleep.

Tell me about the celestial spirits in your rewrite, are you going to rework the magic?
THANK YOU GREEK I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THEM!!!!!!!!!
rewrite stuff ⬇️
The Silver Spirit keys are the beings born of the Celestial Spirit world. There are hundreds of Spirits for each constellation, each with their own key. They only have one life, and if a Silver Key spirit dies, they will become part of their constellation and their key will turn to dust
The Zodiac were all once like the Silver Keys, but were granted 12 lives. Once a Zodiac Key passes for the 12th time, they are reincarnated. It used to be that the most powerful Silver Key would take their place, but as wizards started to become more powerful, soon, wizards started to outclass Silver Keys. You can read more on it here! If you read this and leave a comment saying you came from this post, I’ll write a drabble of your choosing!
Onto specific spirits!
Aries ♈️
Aries is the second youngest of the Zodiac at this point. She practices wool magic, and part of that is that she can change the physical properties of the wool she handles. For example, she can make the wool solid, liquid, or a gas. She’s at the most powerful during the Aries season in the Human World. Given she is a Fire Sign, she can also use fire magic, though it’s not as powerful as most human fire wizards. She uses a shepard’s staff as a weapon if she requires one, and she can use it to aide her magic.
For the longest time, Aries was a very submissive and shy spirit, and she let her key holders do whatever they wanted to her. This changed after Leo stood up to Karen and subsequently got her killed by Angel, Aries took it upon herself to make sure none of her other friends would suffer because of her weakness. By the time we meet her in canon, Aries is much more outgoing and outspoken to her Key Holder, and very protective of her Silver Keys.
While Leo was gone, she became the “Queen of the Zodiac” and that stuck even after he came back, making her the head of the Zodiac.
Her human name was Mary, and she became the Aries Spirit in the year X272
Taurus ♉️
Taurus uses his Labrys, but he can also use Earth magic. Think Thor with his hammer, that’s kind of what Taurus’s earth magic is like, he needs his Labrys. His Earth magic is very rudimentary, and he can create earthquakes.
He’s not a creepy towards Lucy, he’s very respectful and gentle with her. He wears blue overalls and has a very subtle southern accent.
His human name was Garrett, and he doesn’t remember the year he became the Bull Spirit.
Gemini ♊️
I really like the Eclipse designs for them, so that’s how they look in my rewrite
Being very young human twins, under the age of 10, they are considered lucky to not remember their human lives
The other Zodiac are very protective of them because they’re very easily influenced
They still use Copy/Transformation magic, but they can also use flight magic
Gemi’s human name was Castor, and Mimi’s human name was Aura
One of three spirits that does not have animal traits or attributes
Cancer ♋️
Cancer takes on more of a swordsman appearance than a hairdresser, using one of his blades as a sword, but he can combine them to make big scissors. He picked up hair dressing while serving under Layla and Lucy, though.
His water magic is basically non-existent, but he is considered the most skilled swordsman in the Celestial world
He’s got six arms that he can fold away and can also turn into crab legs.
His human name was Abyl.
Leo ♌️
Leo has feline ears and a tail because i said so.
Leo is the youngest of the zodiac. He became the Lion spirit in the year X344. His human name was Loke.
Leo used Ring magic as a human, which he then translated into Regulus when he became the Leo spirit. He can use Regulus without his rings, and he can use it throughout his whole body, but it’s stronger when channeled through an item.
His rings can take many forms, and he even likes to use brass knuckles sometimes.
His fire magic isn’t really fire magic, but more of a fire hazard. He can light his tail on fire, as well as his hair if he’s in a tight spot, which will likely make an attacker let up.
Virgo ♍️
Virgo isn’t a maid in my rewrite
Her magic is the same as in the original
She’s a shapeshifter and is also, the only spirit with a gender bias. A man could never reincarnate into the Virgo spirit, but if Virgo wanted too, she could appear as a man.
One of three spirits that does not have animal traits or attributes
Her human name was Rosemary.
Libra ♎️
Gravity Magic is a sub category of Air magic, so she can use Air magic just as well, making her very hard to escape from.
One of three spirits that does not have animal traits or attributes
Her human name was Vidya.
Scorpio ♏️
Scorpio’s tail is actually a scorpio’s tail, but it has armor around it that gives the appearance of a cannon.
He uses sand magic like in canon, but he can also use water magic.
Scorpio is not dating Aquarius.
His human name was Ezio.
Sagittarius ♐️
Also like his Eclipse design better than the canon one, so he’s a centaur
His fire magic translates into fire arrows that he can summon and fire without his bow, but it’s easier to aim with the bow.
His human name was Phillip
Capricorn ♑️
Capricorn is the second eldest of the Zodiac.
Capricorn still practices his Human Subordination Magic, but he can also use Earth magic. It’s quite a deadly combination if your magic suddenly stops working and he then smacks you with a big ass rock.
For the longest time, he’s looked down on his Key Holders, but that changed when he met Layla Heartfilia, and again when he met Lucy
His human name has been forgotten
Aquarius ♒️
She’s the oldest of the Zodiac and is rumored to be the original Aquarius
She’s actually the original Ophiuchus, but was punished by the Zodiac King for meddling in human affairs and going to earth without permission
Her constellation was destroyed and she was passed over to the Aquarius constellation despite knowing Air magic instead of water magic
She quickly learned Water magic and uses Air magic for her urn, which she uses to store and transfer all the water stored in it
Pisces ♓️
The mother of the Pisces set has been around a long time, but her son was born and became the Pisces spirit not long before Aries took the mantle
The mother (Eta) was originally partnered with her brother, but he lost all his lives shortly before her son (Omicron) was born
He became the second Pisces, but he was originally half human because Eta had a relationship with one of her old Key Holders
Both practices water magic
Omicron was named after his late uncle and has always had that name
Eta’s human name was Calypso

RWBY/Fairy Tail: “Marry Me Damnit!” Erza and Lucy to Jaune and they will not take no for an answer but Erza more so since she already has her wedding dress armor.
Jaune looks around, shifting his azure eyes from left-to-right to make sure he wasn't followed. The Huntsman takes one foot forward, then sees a certain curvaceous, Celestial Key-Wielding Wizard in a wedding dress that hugs against her figure.
"Jaune!" Lucy Heartfilla says, as she held a boutique of roses, pulling the wedding veil from her vision. "Marry us!"
"Us?!" The Leader of Team JNPR gulps, his brows creasing in worry as he heard the door being kicked open.
"Yes," Erza Scarlet says, wearing what appears to be a set of armor that resembled a wedding dress. "Us! We won't take no for an answer, beloved!"
Before Jaune could reply, a golden light alerted him to the fact that Lucy used one of her keys, summoning Taurus. The Bull Zodiac held his axe firmly, giving the hoodie-wearing knight a stern glare.
"You better marry them, you MOOOOron!" He warns him, "You'd be MOOOOronic to reject such beauties, Vomit Guy!"

Natsu Dragneel/Lucy Heartfilia Gray Fullbuster/Juvia Lockser Levy McGarden/Gajeel Redfox
Alternate Universe - Modern with Magic Follows Fairy tail but with my own twists set in modern day Fluff and Angst Romance Friendship developing feelings Lucy has new spirits I checked constellations and gave her ones I thought were cool
Summary
Lucy is thrown into a world she didn’t know existed. Join her as she unravels this new world full of magic that brings adventure, romance and destruction along with it.
———
Just a modern re-telling of Fairy tail.
You can also read it here.
——————————————————
Chapter 16
"The heck is a broken key doing in there? Does that mean this spirit is dead or something?"
Lucy could hear Natsu ask from somewhere behind her, but his voice was starting to fade in and out, echoing around her and she could feel a headache forming behind her right eye the longer she stared at the key.
'Leo, The Lion.' There was a haze around her mind as Lucy tried to recall any memories of such a spirit.
'Aquarius, Virgo, Pisces, Taurus, Scorpio, Libra, Aries, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Cancer, Gemini.'
Lucy went through all the zodiacs in her head, she remembered all of them from her childhood.
But no memories of Leo.
Lucy was certain her mother was in possession of all twelve gate keys before her death, so how come she couldn't remember this one? Why was it broken?
What was it doing in a museum?
Something about all of this feels weird.
It can't be a coincidence, their job turns out to be a hoax, only for them to find a golden key in the same place they were called to.
No, definitely not a coincidence.
The sudden buzzing of her phone in her pocket brought Lucy out of her head and she fished it out so she could answer it.
"Mira, there is no record of this job coming into the guild, is there?" She said into the phone, not taking her eyes off the broken key piece.
"I'm sorry Lucy, there isn't anything in our files about a request being sent in by anyone from Sakuramori Village in the past year, and what makes it even weirder is that the flyer you gave me yesterday is nowhere to be found." Mira told her with a slightly frustrated tone, and Lucy could hear the flipping of pages from the other end.
"I know I put it in here." Lucy heard her mumble over the phone as she searched through her books.
"Something about this doesn't feel right. The Master said you should come back to the guild so we can figure out what's happening." The older girl told her through the speaker.
"Mira," Lucy said in a serious tone, taking a deep breath before continuing. "We found a broken zodiac key in this Museum, a key that have no memory of.
And I have a feeling that we weren't sent here by accident, someone wanted me to find it." Lucy told her, hoping the take-over mage would understand.
"I'm sorry but I'm not coming back until I find out what's going on." Her tone was determined as she spoke, and there was a moment of silence on the other end.
The sudden appearance of Natsu behind her caused Lucy to almost jump out of her skin, fumbling with the phone for a second before putting it back to her ear.
His front was now firmly pressed against her back.
"Tell the old geezer we're not coming back till we see what's going on here, and don't worry about us. We'll be fine!" He spoke into the phone, his head pressed against hers.
"And could you ask Wendy to take care of Happy till we get back?" Natsu added as an afterthought, remembering that the exceed did not come with them on this job.
Lucy was shocked still by the suddenness of their proximity, hyper-aware of every single nerve ending that was in contact with Natsu.
She knew that her heartbeat was going crazy at his presence.
His heat and scent enveloped her the moment they touched, she could feel the way his chest moved against her back, slowly synchronizing with her breathing, the way his breath hit her cheeks as he spoke, his hair tickling her forehead.
It was almost overwhelming. Was she ever going to get used to being this close to him?
Lucy was also aware that Natsu could hear said heartbeat and tried taking a breath to calm herself, hoping the drakon wouldn't think anything of it. "Are you guys sure? I really think you should come back so we can figure it out together."
Lucy could hear the worry in Mira's voice through the phone, but she couldn't go back now. Not when the gleaming key was staring back at her. "He's right, we'll be fine. I promise to check in, and keep you posted." Lucy told her, hoping to compromise with the older girl.
There was a sigh from the other end.
"Fine, but you make sure to keep me in the loop, and I am not to blame for what the Master has in store for you two for not following orders! We'll talk later. Good luck." With those parting words, Mira hung up before they had a chance to respond.
Lucy heard and felt Natsu's groan as he dropped his head into the crook of her neck. "Aww man, I hope he doesn't make me clean the guild again."
His breath was warm against her skin, and Lucy could feel the goosebumps forming along her neck, sending a slight shiver down her spine.
Holding back a squeak at the sudden sensation, it took Lucy a few tries before she was able to respond without sounding like she inhaled helium.
"Hey, whatever happens, at least we'll be together. Right?" Lucy said, wanting to cheer her partner up as she turned to face Natsu with a smile.
Only she grossly underestimated the distance between them and was suddenly nose-to-nose with the pink-haired man.
Their eyes locked, and it seemed like the temperature around them was increasing with every passing moment.
Natsu stared at her for a few seconds with one of his stoic expressions, the one where you could never tell what's gonna come out of his mouth next, before suddenly smiling back at her.
"You're right! It's always more fun when we're together!" He said as he lowered his head a few centimeters and their foreheads connected.
Lucy's heart was speeding up again at his causal public display of affection, he really did not have any concept of personal space.
"Okay, let's find out what a magical broken key is doing here!" He said with enthusiasm as he withdrew from her bubble and went to look back at the glass case.
Lucy took the opportunity and surveyed the room, noticing a few people here and there, but thankfully no one was focused on the two of them in the corner.
She made her way closer, wanting to get a better look at the broken key piece.
She could feel a faint pulse of magical energy coming from the object behind the glass. The magic felt melancholy and woeful and Lucy's heart clenched the closer she got.
"It feels sad." She said quietly.
"Yeah, I can feel it too, but if it still has magic that's a good thing. Right?" Natsu asked and Lucy turned to face him.
"I have no idea. But I know who does." She said and took his hand, leading him through the building. "I think we should find a secluded place in the forest so I can summon one of my spirits and ask them.
They must know what happened to Leo."
Lucy told him as they made their way out of the Museum, neither of them noticing the eyes following them.
* ********* ********** ********** ********* *
Mira looked down at the phone with a troubled look on her face and let out a sigh.
She did not have a good feeling about this.
And she was not looking forward to telling the Master that Natsu and Lucy decided not to follow a direct order and went to investigate on their own.
But then again, was she really surprised?
Natsu was never known for following orders and has always done things his way.  Not to mention that it seems like ever since Lucy joined the guild things have gotten..interesting, to say the least.
Mira and her siblings have been a part of Fairy Tail longer than most of the younger members, and even some of the older ones.
She's known Natsu since he came to the guild.
Mira remembers the angry little boy that he was back then, remembers how abandoned he felt by his father, and how he made it everyone's problem.
The amount of damage done to the guild in his first few years at Fairy Tail was a headache just thinking about.
It was an agonizingly slow process, getting him to trust his guild mates, and even then his resolve to find his father never wavered.
As soon as he was old enough to go out on his own jobs, his quest was never-ending. Leading him to scour Fiore aimlessly for years.
Mira had always felt pity for the drakon, hopelessly searching for someone who may not be out there.
Nothing anyone said or did could get him to stop, or even slow down.
No matter how many times the Master put him on 'House Arrest'. (Which was just having different mages watch him in shifts to make sure he doesn't go running off by himself.) The fire Drakon would either wait them out or find a way to escape.
Not even the threat of Erza and her swords was enough to get him to slow down.
Eventually, they all just gave up.
As long as he was coming back unharmed every couple of weeks or months, they left him to his search.
When they finally figured out how to use technology without the interference of magic, they made him check in with her every week.
'So how did Lucy manage to do it without even trying?' Mira let out a sigh at her thoughts as she re-polished the bar once more.
"I promise you there is not a spot anywhere on this surface, but you might make a dent in the wood if you keep going at it like that." An amused but gruff voice broke her out of her thoughts and Mira's head snapped to see the Leader of the Thunder Legion sitting on one of the stools.
"What can I get you today Laxus?" She asked in her best polite tone, avoiding their usual banter. She held back a wince at how it came out, knowing he wouldn't buy it.
And sure enough, the blonde only slouched further on the bar and raised a brow at her.
"What has you so strung up?" He asked her in an almost lazy tone.
"It's nothing, just thinking." Mira responded briskly, trying to dodge the interrogation, and hoping he would drop the subject.
"Okay, if you say so. Can you get me a pint?" He asked with raised hands as if surrendering.
"It's barely noon." Was her only response as she went to pour the beer.
"Your point being?" He asked with a shrug as she set the glass in front of him.
"At least you're not as bad as Cana. I swear one of these days she's gonna get alcohol poisoning." Mira said with a sigh as she turned to look at the card mage who was sitting at her designated spot at the end of the bar, drinking her wine barrel.
There was a snort from Laxus at her words as he went to drink his beer.
"Don't compare me to that drunk, and I'm pretty sure her blood is more booze than anything else by now."
Mira let out a laugh at that, knowing it was probably true.
"Ah, so it wasn't anything dire then, you wouldn't have laughed if it was." Laxus commented between sips, smirking at her through the rim of the glass.
Mira shot him a glare and tried to suppress the urge to stick her tongue out at him, that would only give him ideas.
"Natsu and Lucy went out on a job to Sakuramori Village today, only it turns out that no one sent for help from the Museum, and we have no records of the job coming in." Mira started to ramble, giving in to his probing.
"Even the flyer Lucy gave me yesterday is gone!" She exclaimed as she slouched on the bar.
"Lucy? That blonde that I met on New Year's?" Laxus questioned, sounding thoroughly confused. "Why would she be out on a job with Natsu of all people?" He asked making Mira peek at him through her hands and sit up straight.
"You've been gone a while, things have.." Mira trailed off trying to think of a good way to describe the current situation. "Progressed." She settled on that, but it only seemed to confuse the lightning mage and he raised a brow at her in question.
Mira sighed as she went to give him a rundown of the past few months.
"A few months ago Natsu brought Lucy back to the guild after one of his jobs. He found her in Hargeon." She decided to start there, from what seemed like the beginning.
"She was attacked by a Lethifold and he saved her, only by the time he got there the creature had already taken a portion of her energy." Mira stopped to take a breath, looking back at Laxus to see if he was paying attention.
The blonde was focused on her words, his beer was set on the tabletop and his body was leaning towards her slightly, an intrigued expression on his face as he listened.
While on their job, the Thunder Legion wasn't kept in the loop about the going ons at Fairy Tail.
They did know that Phantom Lord attacked the guild and the Master was gravely injured, they were on their way back when the whole thing was resolved and Mira called to let them know everything and everyone was fine.
So they decided to go back and finish their job, figuring since everything was settled and they only had a few months left that it was the right thing to do.
It wasn't surprising that Laxus would want to know the gossip, they may not look it, but the Thunder Legion were notorious gossips.
Their leader especially.
"Thankfully, Porlyusica and Wendy were able to heal her, and Lucy, as you know is fine." She told him with a small smile before continuing.
"At first I didn't think anything of it. I mean it was obvious Lucy had a seal that was about to burst, not to mention the energy that was stolen by the Lethifold." Mira shook her head as she remembered Natsu barging in through the portal with an unconscious Lucy in his arms.
"Any one of us would help save and bring back an injured mage. Even you wouldn't let someone die in a backwards alleyway." She joked, making Laxus scowl at her little jab.
He seemed invested by this point, looking at her with a raised eyebrow as he tilted his head towards her, his way of asking her to continue.
"Then the next day I noticed that Natsu was still mingling in the guild." Mira continued retelling him the events.
"It was strange, Happy was out at the time, and the job he took in Hargeon was an easy and short one, I expected him to be on his way to the next town by morning as usual." She mused, knowing Laxus understood how abnormal that was coming from the fire drakon.
"Only he seemed content in just waiting. So he stayed." Mira said as she thought back to when Lucy told her she and Natsu were going on a job together.
It was quite a shock.
"He stayed until Lucy woke up, he was there to save her from a rouge chair during one of the brawls, he refused to leave her side until she woke up after her magic broke through the seal." She let out a chuckle as she remembered how baffled everyone was when he volunteered to take her back to Hargeon.
Mira watched the mix of emotions on Laxus's face as she explained Natsu's recent behavior.
It was amusing to see the disbelief, shock, and surprise all in a matter of seconds, but she could understand why.
She was still wrapping her head around the sudden change, but it was a surprisingly pleasant one if you ask her.
Everything at Fairy Tail was always wonted.
Mira was used to the routine, she knew the members of her guild like the back of her hand.
She could accurately predict what anyone was going to do or how they would react to most situations.
Not to mention that being the designated barkeep comes with its privileges, like being in on all the gossip. That was a major one for the take-over mage.
So it was a monumental surprise when one day Natsu was just, there.
It has been almost four months and Natsu was still here. He hasn't left Lucy's side since he brought her to the guild.
It was odd at first for everyone, Mira could tell. Seeing Natsu mingling about and interacting with everyone on a day-to-day basis in a way he hasn't before.
Well, he has, just never this consistently.
Usually, Natsu would come in after a job every couple of weeks, he would pick a fight with the members if he was bored or annoyed, eat, and drink on occasion.
But it was never longer than a day or two. Week at most and he was off.
And seeing the way that he is with Lucy is astonishing. He's only ever trusted Happy, and Wendy to an extent.
But it was something else too, a part of him seemed to have settled in a way she hadn't seen before. It was like he was content as long as Lucy was there.
That's why Mira thought they would be together by now, it's just so obvious.
"And now they're on a job together, wow. You know I thought it was weird he was still around the guild after New Year's. This is progress. Who knew that flame brain could get the girl." Laxus mused as he finally wrapped his head around her words.
Mira leveled him with an unimpressed look, before sighing and slumping slightly on the counter. "You didn't see him when Phantom Lord attacked, he was livid when he realized Lucy was taken."
She shook off the mental image of Natsu coming through the doors with a beaten and bloody Lucy in his arms. She was almost unrecognizable, and Natsu looked like he was on the verge of a killing spree.
"What did Phantom want with a new member?" Laxus asked as he sipped his beer.
"Wow, you guys missed a lot of drama." Mira mumbled, realizing they didn't know anything of Lucy's family.
"Um, so Lucy's kind of, like royalty." That information seemed to have stunned the lightning mage.
"Her father is Duke Jude Heartfilia, and she's, well, a Duchess by birth."
There was a moment of silence before Laxus regained the ability to speak again. "So Phantom kidnapped her for ransom or something?" He asked, and Mira could see why he would think that funny how the truth was much worse.
"Actually, her father hired them to bring her back home." Mira said in a quiet tone.
"He what?" Laxus sounded outraged at the thought. "Why would anyone in their right mind do something like that?" He went to stand from his stool, his breath was getting heavy with each word and Mira could tell he was getting angry.
"Oh calm down, we already kicked their ass and sent them packing. No need for all of this." She waved her hand in front of him as he glared at her, trying to intimidate her.
Mira laughed at the thought and sent him her deadliest glare, causing him to back off with his hands raised in surrender.
"Jose wanted to take us down, as you already know, and the fact that he was getting paid was a bonus to him." Mira kept explaining. "He wasn't even going to fulfill the obligation he was hired for, once he found out what Lucy's magic was.." She trailed off, knowing Laxus would understand.
"But we managed to take them down, Lucy even went to confront her father after everything settled. Remember when Natsu came bustling through the guild like a madman?" Mira asked him, remembering he was there that day.
"Yeah, vaguely, I had quite the hangover. He was in a panic, I just assumed he found out something about his dad." The blonde shrugged.
"Well, it wasn't that. He was worried about Lucy." She told him with a huff.
"So what are you so worked up about? That Natsu is in love? I mean yeah it's shocking, I honestly thought that he was Asexual or Aromantic or something, but good for him. So have the bets started yet?" Laxus asked her, and Mira stared at him with a baffled expression.
"Why would you think he was Asexual?" She asked. "Really? That's what you're focusing on?" He asked her in slight exasperation.
Mira only shot him a look, crossing her arms as she raised a brow. "I mean I've never seen him show attraction to any gender before, not even on like a physical level. It seemed like he just didn't care about any of that. His goal of finding Igneel was always his first and only priority."
The man shrugged as he spoke, moving to take a sip of his beer.
"Huh, I never thought of it that way, I always assumed he was either a late bloomer or particular about what he likes." Mira said, thinking of the time when poor Lisanna had a crush on the fire drakon.
Her sister never had a chance.
While Natsu was kinder to her than most in their younger days, he was still reserved in his own way.
"I'm not worked up about him being in love. I think it's great. And there is a betting pool going around." Mira said with a wicked smile before continuing.
"I just have a weird feeling about this false job they're on. Lucy's magic is very rare, and if Jose wanted to use it I imagine there are others as well." She told him, voice somber as she shared her fears.
"Word travels fast in our world and you know how far people will go to obtain power."
* ********* ********** ********** ********* *
"Are we far enough yet? And why couldn't we get food in town, I'm starving." Natsu asked as they trekked through the forest.
Lucy looked around and determined that they were far enough for her to use magic.
"We can stop here." She told him and put her backpack next to a tree.
"There's some sandwiches in my bag, you can eat that while I talk to my spirits." She pointed to her backpack and Natsu let out a 'Whoop' at the mention of food and be-lined to where she set it.
Lucy chuckled at him and made her way a few meters from where he was standing.
"Okay, time to get answers." Lucy said and went for her zodiacs, figuring Capricorn was her best bet for this.
Only when she went to take the key off its ring it got incredibly hot and scorched her fingers.
"Ouch! What the?" She blew on her fingers as she looked down at her keys.
The golden ones were all glowing slightly, and as she went to touch them, they all burned her off.
Virgo was less hot to the touch than the rest and Lucy braved through the pain and summoned the maid spirit.
"Good afternoon Princess, is it time for my punishment?" She appeared bowing in a golden glow.
"No punishments Virgo, why are the keys burning me?" Lucy asked her, hoping the pink-haired woman would give her an explanation.
"I am sorry Princess, but we cannot give you the answers you are looking for. None of us want to hurt you, but we will not come out if it means you asking the impossible of us."
Lucy stared at the spirit in shock, this was the second time she's been denied answers by her spirits. She just couldn't understand why.
"Oy Virgo, I thought you were cool, what do ya mean you can't answer a simple question? Why did we find a broken key in that Museum?" Natsu's voice came from over her shoulder, he was closer than before. Lucy hadn't even noticed he had moved.
Virgo looked at them with a sorrowful expression on her usually stoic face. "I am sorry, we want to help you Princess, but I'm afraid we can't. Not with this." The pink-haired spirit bowed once more before disappearing with a flash of golden light.
Lucy let out a frustrated sigh at the turn of events, not understanding why this was happening. They refused to give her any information on her family history, and now they won't even come out to talk to her about Leo.
To go as far as to burn her, Lucy shook her head as she rubbed her forefinger and thumb.
They were still stinging a bit.
"Well, she wasn't any help." Natsu said from behind her, and Lucy couldn't help but laugh at his obtuseness.
"No, she wasn't." She mumbled as she turned to face him.
"I wonder if Grampa Crux would be willing to help." Lucy mused out loud and went for her silver key.
Thankfully the Cross didn't heat up and let himself be summoned.
He was sleeping when he appeared in front of them. "Grampa Crux?" Lucy asked tentatively.
"Good morning, what can I help you with today Lady Lucy?" The old spirit answered in a gruff voice and Lucy smiled at him.
"Good morning, I was wondering what information you have on Leo, the Lion." She asked with bated breath, not knowing the reaction she was going to get.
There was a silence in the forest after her question, Lucy thought he might have fallen asleep again, but then the spirit let out a sigh.
"I am sorry My Lady, there is not much I can tell you." His voice was apologetic as he spoke.
"Leo, the lion is the leader of the Zodiacs, represented by the constellation of Leo. He is known for being one of the strongest spirits in our Realm." The Clock told them and Lucy looked at Natsu with a worried look before turning back to Crux.
"But we just found his key broken in a Museum. What does that mean?" Lucy asked desperation in her voice. She wanted answers, dammit.
The spirit sighed once more, tilting slightly in their direction. "There are many things that we need to learn on our own. I am afraid this is one of them." The cryptic words only made Lucy more frustrated, why do they always talk in riddles?
"Do not fret My Lady, I find in circumstances like these, it's best to retrace one's steps." Crux told her with a tip to his mustache, indicating a smile from the spirit.
Lucy smiled back at him, still slightly annoyed by the lack of answers, but grateful to the old spirit nonetheless.
"Thank you, you may go back now." She told him and he disappeared with a bow.
"What is it with your spirits and not liking to answer questions?" Natsu asked sounding annoyed at their enigmatic words.
Lucy laughed as she looked back at him, his chin was buried in his scarf, and she could tell he was slightly pouting.
"At least Grampa Crux gave us a clue. Come on, let's go back into town and find somewhere to sleep, and eat." She told him as she started walking back towards the Village.
"Yooshh! Let's go get food!" Natsu sounded beyond excited at the thought of food, and Lucy smiled at how childlike he could be.

Star Dress
I am very, very salty about the way Yukino getting her star dress was handled. Yukino getting it so easily while Lucy had to work so hard for it just didn’t feel right. So I tried writing a little fic of how I wish things would have gone.
(Also when it comes to writing action scenes I’m worse than Mashima so please don’t take it too seriously.)
From a very young age Yukino has trained herself to be prepared for any and every situation. She just wasn’t sure how much of that was going to help her in this situation.
Sting her friend and guild master made a week attempt to get up but he immediately fell down. Natsu from Fairy Tail was in the same condition. That meant she and Lucy would have to deal with Athena on their own. This wasn’t the first time she was stuck with Lucy in a difficult situation but Athena wasn’t like anything else she had faced before.
She saw Lucy charging towards Athena with her hands on her keys. Yukino called out to her as she followed. Other than Yukino, Lucy was the only person in the world who had contracts with the zodiac celestial spirits. Far more than she did in fact.
‘Lucy could easily summon someone like Virgo and if she summoned Libra…’ Yukino was thinking when suddenly Lucy was engulfed by golden light and when the light faded, she was wearing a rather reveling outfit and a whip. For a brief moment Yukino thought Lucy had left behind celestial spirit magic and learnt requipe. However, the next moment she saw taurus and she noticed the resemblance between Lucy’s outfit and him.
“What technique is that?” she asked Lucy.
“It’s star dress. It’s temporary but it lets me borrows the powers of the celestial spirits” Lucy told her.
Borrowing the power of celestial spirits? She had been a celestial spirit wizard for since she was a child yet she had never heard of it. While Yukino was processing this she heard Lucy yelp. She snapped out of her daze and summoned Libra.
“Help her” she told her spirit. Libra wordlessly did as asked and made Athena lose her balance just as she was about to hit Lucy. Lucy took that moment to get up. As soon as she did, she was engulfed in golden light once again, now in a strange made outfit and used Virgo’s powers to attack Athena. From the way she moved Yukino was sure that Lucy has dome this before a lot.
She closed her eyes for a second and tried to imagine herself wearing a star dress, she tried to imagine what Libra’s power would feel like. She had a good relationship with her spirits. Her sister has told her about the way she and some other celestial spirit wizards used to trat their spirits. Yukino could never imagine doing anything close to that. At the same time, she had also seen Lucy’s spirits opening their own gates to come and rescue Lucy because they cared that much. Did she have that kind of bond with her spirits?
“Libra” she called out.
“Yes, miss Yukino?” Libra replied.
“Can I do that?” She asked as she pointed at Lucy, “Can I wear a star dress and channel your power?”
“I don’t know miss Yukino, it depends on you” Libra said.
Yukino thought she knew the limitations of celestial spirit magic. That’s why she had learnt to fight. Lucy on the other hand had managed to push past that limit. She somehow needed to do the same if they had any hopes of actually defeating Athena. But would she be even able to learn it so quickly?
As if reading her mind Lucy said, “Of course you can do it.”
“I tried but I don’t know how” Yukino said.
Their little chat had given Athena enough time to get back on her feet. Lucy turned around to face her only to disappear into the golden light for a third time and emerge in a form she called Leon Maiden. Yukino knew it was possible to merge the powers of the spirits, but Lucy was doing that without even having to summon the spirits.
As amazed as she was with Lucy’s display of power it wasn’t enough to stop the living, breathing weapon of destruction in front of them. Even before she had to say anything Libra was assisting Lucy. She needed to join them soon. She closed her eyes, clenched her fists and tried to imagine what it would feel like to Libra and manipulate gravity.
“That won’t work” She heard Lucy say, “Don’t force it”
“Then what am I supposed to do?” Yukino asked.
“Why do you love magic?” Lucy asked.
What kind of question is that? To begin with Yukino wasn’t sure if she loved magic. It was just something she picked up because she thought it would help her find her sister. She was about to ask Lucy what she meant when she saw Athena about to grab a hold of Lucy. She rushed in and pulled Lucy towards her and they both fell to the ground.
When their hands met just for a few seconds she saw something else. Celestial spirit wizards can talk telepathically with their spirits. Maybe because Lucy was tapping into the power of her spirits or maybe because of something else she didn’t fully understand, she felt like she was getting an answer to the question she was about to ask.
Yukino saw tears. She saw a little girl in back crying all alone in the dark. But the girl wasn’t alone. She saw a mermaid … Aquarius patting the girl awkwardly on the head equally awkwardly say “there there”. That memory shifted to another moment in tears with a much older version of the girl as she was being scolded by Aquarius. She was saying, “Lyla would have left and joined that fairy tail by now”. The memory changed to reveal Aquarius with a tearful face saying “Thank you”. The memory shifted one final time where she saw Lucy once again crying and this time a spirit that has to be Scorpio sitting beside her consoling her in the same exact awkward way Aquarius did.
I love magic because I was never truly lonely because of it. Lucy’s answer was clear.
In that moment Yukino wondered why did she picked celestial spirit magic. The golden zodiac keys are incredibly hard to obtain and yet she had gone out of her way to obtain as many as she could. Her search of zodiac keys had led her to the rearrest black key. Her search for keys however has started because of her sister. Sorano had loved the stars and the sky that love had extended to the celestial world as well. Yukino had convinced herself that if she followed what her sister loved they will eventually be able to re unite. For years magic had been her hope. Magic had helped her retain her connection with her sister for so long. Magic had kept her going.
Like Lucy, her spirits had prevented her from falling into despair and giving up. She closed her eyes and let that feeling wash over her. When she opened her eyes, she Lucy looking at her weirdly. At the same time, she could feel it. She could feel pieces’ power flow through her.
“You did it!” Lucy exclaimed.
“I did. I’m wearing a star dress.” Yukino said with a grin. “How do I look?” she asked.
“Oh ummm … You … You look fine” Lucy answered awkwardly. Although she couldn’t see Libra’s mouth Yukino was certain that she was laughing. She patted herself to get a feel of the star dress. Everything seemed fine until her hand reached her head. Oh.
Her eyes met Libra’s and she burst out laughing. Lucy quickly joined her. Although Athena was still looming over them, ready to attack them at any point, Yukino wasn’t afraid in that moment.
“Well done miss Yukino” Libra said and gave her a hand. Yukino took her hand and got up. Without letting go she imagined herself fighting alongside Libra and Lucy and she knew, even before she saw the golden light that it had worked.
“Take that!” She said as she performs a spell, she had seen Libra perform countless times before with the help of her new star dress. She promptly got a compliment from Lucy. Lucy performed a spell immediately after that and Yukino for a brief moment disappointedly thought that it would take Athena down for good.
Disappointedly?
Yukino didn’t share the same love for fighting as her guildmates and her sister did. She saw it as a necessity. Right now, however Lucy has revealed a side of celestial spirit magic that she never knew existed and she saw so many possibilities in front of her, waiting to be tested. She had rediscovered why she loved magic and she wanted to know where the limits of her magic actually existed, if they existed at all. Yukino was hoping that Athena would hold on just a little longer.
Fortunately, or unfortunately her wish was granted.

I think it'd be interesting if there were other Zodiac keys besides the 12 Golden Keys, solely for the sake of not having 10 out of 12 Golden Keys belonging to one character.
In the case of the Chinese Zodiac, there's 12 animals (13 if you count the cat) and 5 elements (fire, water, wood, earth, and metal). My idea for this set of keys would be 5 keys per animal, each having one of those 5 elements, for a total of 60 keys (65 if we're including the cat).
Personally, I'd give Lucy the Water Horse, Wood Snake, and Metal Dragon, and I'd give Yukino the Wood Rabbit, Earth Tiger, and Fire Rooster.
I've heard this sort of idea before, but I don't really think it cuts down on the core problem, which is one character just happening to stumble into 10 of the rarest keys on the planet. Turning 12 keys into 60 keys just makes them less rare rather than making Lucy feel like a genuinely cool wizard for the ones she does have.
She inherited Aquarius, Cancer, and Capricorn, and managed to find and contract Taurus on her own. By the end of the first arc, she has Virgo, has Sagittarius by the end of the third, and has three more by the end of the seventh arc, and the story's only half over. That's 2/3 of the golden keys before we even hit Edolas.
None of this really necessitates changing the keys or how many there are, but what would've helped might've been focusing more on silver keys. Mashima didn't really develop the gold keys that much, nor bother to make their powers all that impressive beyond Aquarius, Gemini, and sometimes Leo if you squint. We literally don't even know what Capricorn can do.
There are 88 constellations to choose from just in the IAU designated modern canon. Hell, if you wanted Lucy to take a more active role, you could've turned Crux from a literal cross that tells stories to a sword (a cross-shaped weapon). There's no reason for the celestial spirit we see by far the most of to have a rather anemic collection of silver keys while owning 90% of the super-rare Zodiac version.

"You can't change your past, but you can let go and start your future."
wait, is that QUINN FABRAY? they kinda look a lot like CAMILA MENDES, don’t they? i heard the 20 year old is known as the QUEEN BEE around mckinley. it seems like they auditioned to be in NEW DIRECTIONS which is so lame? people at campus have said they’re +AMBITIOUS, but don’t be fooled since they’re also -CONFRONTATIONAL. rumor has it, you can find them at CHEERIOS (HEAD CHEERLEADER), CELIBACY CLUB when they aren’t belting show tunes. their entire vibe revolves around EXTRA TIGHT HIGH PONIES, FLAWLESS HEEL STRETCHES AT THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID, NON-FAT CAPPUCCINOS WITH A SPRINKLE OF CINNAMON but no one pays attention to that here in ohio.
Quinn grew up in Belleville; she had a horrible high school experience, being bullied through her freshman and sophomore years. She didn’t have any friends, was called mean names, and no one would talk to her. Then she joined ballet where she lost weight, then joined gymnastics and cheerleading. When her father was transferred at work, she asked for a nose job and to be called by her middle name.
Quinn transferred to a new school for her junior year, keeping her past under lock and key, telling everyone she had grown up in Fairbrook. She completely turned her life around, quickly climbing to the top of the social ladder and never looking back. She became captain of her high school cheer squad, was dating a football player, and was voted prom queen.
Now, Quinn is attending McKinley Arts majoring in Acting and minoring in Marketing and Advertising. While acting is her true passion, she decided on her minor to keep her father happy; she is doing well in her courses, but she would rather be spending her time in a Feminist Philosophy course.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 34

If you discuss growth in FT characters and leave out Lucy/Wendy then you’re so wrong. These two girls have started at the lowest level and grown up so much. Quickly summing up Lucy’s growth from a celestial mage that started her magical journey at a very late age (compared to most of the other FT members), she’s the holder of multiple golden Zodiac keys, knows several spells including Gottfried and Urano metria (and of course the new ones in the 100 YQ), can use one of the grand fairy magic (fairy sphere) and has Star dress. That’s just the major parts of her growth as a mage.
Now for Wendy, she’s grown so much as a person and a wizard. I love her commitment to FT. I wonder how often she remembers her old guild because that was a very emotional moment for her to realize they weren’t truly real. I am so glad to see her dive into her dragon slayer magic (her dragon force mode is peak I love the design) alongside her enchantress powers. This is one thing I am so happy Mashima added because it’s perfect for Wendy. She’s truly power considering how young she is and how much potential she has.
For the remainder of the 100 YQ I would love to see more of her enchantress abilities, casting spells and enhancing her magic. Maybe a unison raid with Natsu. Honestly any unison raid would be acceptable. It’s something I thought would be more common but was put on the side like everything else I had high expectations for. Lucy and Juvia need to do another one since they were very first example. So maybe Natsu and Gray can have one or even Natsu and Lucy (to satisfy my NaLu needs).
Back to Wendy, I would also like to see more of her relationship with Sherria. Speaking of which, how’s her return to magic going?! I am sure Wendy does her best to provide as much support and positivity as she can. I would also like to see more of Wendy, Lucy, and Erza as almost a sister bond and wholesome moments between girls who went through so much together that’s not a battle or anything violent. Maybe a filler shopping spree or lunch outing just to relax and enjoy the moment. It’s something Wendy (and all the others need) since she’s still a child. She needs to have the positive vibes too.
I’m just going to add Happy and Carla on here because I just have one major thing I need from them. Did they ever realize the other Exceeds were their parents? Did they ever go to interact with them? How are they doing?! Honestly they could’ve had more involvement considering their flight is very useful. I just want to Happy to know his parents are proud of him and love him. I want Carla to know her mother feels sorry for what she did in the past and that to some extent an actual princess.

lucy magic hc thing
@selfdestructivecat asked for this :p
again i play so hard and fast with canon but for this one if i like, genuinly got something wrong then plz correct me theres a HIGH chance im getting her power set wrong but the point of this is more me taking like, the base bone of the concept and running with it lol
Just a quick like, how i think lucys magic should work bc im so annoyed shes technically the female lead and literally summons other things to fight FOR her So in my version (the better one) early lucy ONLY has star dresses She can basically give herself the attributes of each spirit, like the star dresses but she also gets a sort of themed weapon, like she gets tarus’ axe, cancers sissors etc. It isnt until lokes arc that shes able to physically summon her spirits Like i feel like summoning a whole spirit takes A LOT of magic so most of the time its more like a warlock patron situation where they lend her spells and if shit get real bad she can spend a high level spell to summon them to fight for her Like idk yea im using dnd terms with this but shhh it makes more sense to me It also makes things like her summoning all her spirits at once a HUGE deal, plus i think its the first time we physically see some of the spirits and also gives a bigger mystery to who they are and how celestial magic works Like i always found it weird how celestial wizards?? Exist?? but each only have 1 key so like?? Theres really only 2 celestial wizards at a time?? Like max there can be 12 but in the show we literally only have lucy and yukino and then like, angel, karen and lucys mom and idk thats kinda dumb Like if its that scarse that theres only 4 active celestial wizards in the WHOLE SHOW  idk thats weird and should be treated as a bigger deal So in my mind, each spirit can gift wizards a key, some of them stick to the lower level spirit key collecting, kinda like in the show, and MAYBE have 1 or 2 zodiac keys Zodiacs r notorious for being v fickle with who they enter contracts with and for the most part even if someone is a celestial wizard they can go their whole lives without ever summoning a zodiac spirit bc its just SO POWERFUL So lucy has low key imposter syndrome be she technically inherited her keys from her mom so she never had to prove herself worthy, which in my mind is y she tries so hard to get stronger and prove her place in fairy tail So based on all this i also think lucy just has a shit ton of magical potential due to growing up with the spirits and having such a strong bond with them and thats what allows her to summon all of them and the zodiac king to plead lokes case Idk i also dont love how the spirts serve lucy as like, a master servant thing So having the spirits be more like patrons feels better to me idk It also makes lucy like, an extremely powerful wizard bc she literally has so many zodiac keys but at first i think she give v jack of all trade master of none energy Her main one i feel would be aquarius bc its a less precise magic form of literally just throwing waves at her opponents BUT it takes a lot of magic bc aquarius is such a high level spirit who refuses to go easy on lucy just bc of her connection to her mom Lucy still has her whip bc idk i think its neat Throughout the series she learns oto be much more flexible and think more outside the box when it comes to her magic and she also grows more reckless, kinda a side effect from being around natsu so much and by the time she gets to the GMG she can probably summon her spirits no problem tho 2 at once is still hard like in the show Oo also also early lucy has problems accepting help from others BECAUSE she feels like shes constantly having to prove shes worthy of just,, existing, so she puts off summoning her spirits at all because of that too I think she works on that a LOT after phantom lord and lokes arc
