Just My Thoughts Pt. 34

If you discuss growth in FT characters and leave out Lucy/Wendy then you’re so wrong. These two girls have started at the lowest level and grown up so much. Quickly summing up Lucy’s growth from a celestial mage that started her magical journey at a very late age (compared to most of the other FT members), she’s the holder of multiple golden Zodiac keys, knows several spells including Gottfried and Urano metria (and of course the new ones in the 100 YQ), can use one of the grand fairy magic (fairy sphere) and has Star dress. That’s just the major parts of her growth as a mage.

Now for Wendy, she’s grown so much as a person and a wizard. I love her commitment to FT. I wonder how often she remembers her old guild because that was a very emotional moment for her to realize they weren’t truly real. I am so glad to see her dive into her dragon slayer magic (her dragon force mode is peak I love the design) alongside her enchantress powers. This is one thing I am so happy Mashima added because it’s perfect for Wendy. She’s truly power considering how young she is and how much potential she has.

For the remainder of the 100 YQ I would love to see more of her enchantress abilities, casting spells and enhancing her magic. Maybe a unison raid with Natsu. Honestly any unison raid would be acceptable. It’s something I thought would be more common but was put on the side like everything else I had high expectations for. Lucy and Juvia need to do another one since they were very first example. So maybe Natsu and Gray can have one or even Natsu and Lucy (to satisfy my NaLu needs).

Back to Wendy, I would also like to see more of her relationship with Sherria. Speaking of which, how’s her return to magic going?! I am sure Wendy does her best to provide as much support and positivity as she can. I would also like to see more of Wendy, Lucy, and Erza as almost a sister bond and wholesome moments between girls who went through so much together that’s not a battle or anything violent. Maybe a filler shopping spree or lunch outing just to relax and enjoy the moment. It’s something Wendy (and all the others need) since she’s still a child. She needs to have the positive vibes too.

I’m just going to add Happy and Carla on here because I just have one major thing I need from them. Did they ever realize the other Exceeds were their parents? Did they ever go to interact with them? How are they doing?! Honestly they could’ve had more involvement considering their flight is very useful. I just want to Happy to know his parents are proud of him and love him. I want Carla to know her mother feels sorry for what she did in the past and that to some extent an actual princess.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 33

For Gray, I am pretty pleased on where he is and how he’s progressed in the 100 YQ. One of more obvious aspects being his relationship with Juvia and his acceptance of his feelings is really nice to see. I am looking forward to them becoming a couple once he returns to Fiore. I would just like to his involvement in battle more. I feel like he’s being left out in a lot of the scenes. Maybe he’s got a new development with his ice/devil magic.

Additionally, I want to know more small details. (If you can’t tell at this point that I love the small bits of each characters life well let me be really clear here.) I want to know how’s he’s dealing with the death (again) of his father, Silver. I know that this was a huge part of Tartaros but what of his life after this? Does he visit the grave more often? Maybe he goes with Juvia since she was there the last time? What of his mother?! We only know her name as Mika (I think this is the name 😣) but not much else. Maybe a little more on his past before Ur. Speaking of his which, what’s his stance with Ultear?! Since we know that she can come back and forth during a time lapse or some kind of time related circumstances, does he use this to converse with her!? Did he ever find out that the old lady was Ultear!? What about Lyon?! How’s their relationship going!? I absolutely love Lucy and Gray’s dynamic so maybe a battle highlighting this or just a nice filler with their sibling like relationship would be nice. I would like an insight on his relationship with so many people but honestly just a good entrance into his romantic life with Juvia would be nice. He’s definitely got to give Natsu some lessons on how to communicate romantic feelings because Natsu definitely thinks he’s already dating Lucy without any proper confirmation.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 32

For Natsu, there isn’t much I have expectations for since he has been the main focus of the entire series. I want him to have a good fight with Ignia with some tension, trauma, and loss. I want END to have some kind of return either because Natsu goes feral from seeing his friends hurt (particularly Lucy) or he consumes Ignia’s flames and goes berserk again. I really need END to come back to its fullest point with scales, claws, maybe horns and wings. The actual design fell short to me compared to all the fanart and that really disappointed me. There were many fanart with tattoo-like designs and the color schemes were so good! I really thought Dragon Cry was a hint to what Natsu would look like but that obviously wasn’t the case. There also has to be some consequences on Lucy for rewriting a demonic book that was written by the Black Wizard. As much as I like Lucy I felt like she shouldn’t have been okay just because of Gray’s devil slaying magic. There was so much potential to this that I felt like was ignored to stay on the safe side of things. Imagine the pain of saving your best friend and willing to sacrifice yourself in the process?! It could’ve been a wonderful plot!! Natsu should also have some kind of backlash after being rewritten. The book was essentially his lifeline. I want to know more about it.

I desperately need another arc like Tartaros because it was peak. It had everything and considering how Ignia is Natsu’s half brother (with Igneel as their father) I need them to have some kind of interaction that’s not a battle. I need Natsu to realize something that’s either emotionally painful or have to make a choice between two things he’s not willing to sacrifice. Of course it doesn’t need to be these since it’s just my suggestions but I need trauma in the story with major loss.

Speaking of brothers, I need more Zeref content (maybe Mavis as well). I really like how Natsu has started to accept him as family which is really nice. Maybe he can go back into the in between at some point to have another life changing experience or just to converse with Zeref. Maybe more on their life before Natsu’s initial death. What were their parents like or even just their life? On the side note, I would love to know more on Mavis and Zeref’s afterlife with their children and just their relationship in general.

One thing I do need to have no matter what is Natsu and Lucy’s relationship becoming canon. It’s been long enough and we need to see their grow as adults who have mutual romantic interest in each other. Natsu can’t keep playing dumb at this point it’s getting slightly repetitive and annoying. His advancement as a character has gone downhill in the 100 YQ (I’m still upset about the pee joke regarding Lucy’s burn). So I need his redemption at least with Lucy and his feelings for her.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 31

What I want from Erza is the opposite of Lucy. Erza has been predominantly one of the strongest wizards in FT. From the get go, she’s been showing her power to the extent that she’s doesn’t have much to grow from that point. Maybe she can have a few new armors but that really won’t do much for her as a character.

Rather, in my opinion I think she should showcase the opposite. Something more feminine and soft and unrelated to battle. One thing that stood out to me from the end of the original story was how Erza started to comb her hair, something she wasn’t really into beforehand. I think that it has so much potential. She could spend time with Wendy and Lucy to be more girlie and just relax for once. I really like how she’s obsessed with strawberry cake which is so cute and wholesome.

Aside from femininity, I think she can have a filler/side story relating to her writing. She definitely thinks she’s good at it but others have expressed otherwise. So many going a little deeper into how she learned or why she thinks like that would be nice. Maybe she can have a little time with Lucy and Levy to further her own knowledge. I know that it’s a bit off and a smaller detail compared to major things in the series but I really like the concept of characters growing and bettering themselves.

And of course she needs some more development with Jellal. I am so glad he’s joining the guild. Since he’s technically going back to Fiore, I hope after the battle with Ignia there is some focus on their relationship. I really like how they have grown so much and are so perfect together. They have had a lot of success in adjusting their relationship from the tower of heaven which they were battling each other with the showcase of their backstory to the grand magic games where he failed to tell her his true feelings to the journey of his redemption. I think we have seen a lot and definitely worked out their tangent relationship so it’s time to get them together and stay together.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 30

As we approach the end of FT 100 YQ (manga), I have a lot of expectations and hopes for a good ending that’s well thought out and developed. Right now we are entering into Ignia’s arc which is probably the most anticipated one of the series so far and I really hope it’s not disappointing. The other arcs were good not great in the sense that they could’ve been developed a bit more since some parts seemed rushed or underwhelming.

Starting off with Lucy, I think there is a lot that could be done with her. While there were some parts where she was displayed well such as the Star dress mix or her battles during Selene’s arc, I think that she should have the spotlight at some point. She is often used for fan service and I don’t really have a care for that but it undermines her intelligence and soft hearted personality. For instance, in the original series we have seen her come up with great ideas such as closing the eclipse gate, sacrificing Aquarius, and using fairy sphere. And not to forget, she was also the one to figure out where Mavis’ grave was located during Tenrou island arc. I don’t really recall any memorable aspects of the 100 YQ that can even hold a candle to these from the original manga.

Therefore, I truly believe she’s in a need to showcase her abilities especially her intellect way more. Perhaps a mini arc for her reunion with Aquarius (via finding her key) or some interaction with Ignia. I have wondered why 100 YQ has been accomplished in over a century and of course Agnologia has some part in creating fear but is that truly all there is too it’s incompletion? I am hoping for something a bit more complex. Maybe Lucy can figure this out. Maybe she can have a battle all on her own. She’s grown so much since the start of the entire franchise and I would love to see her fight against multiple opponents at once. No help from the others. I would also love to see more Star dress mixes or maybe a new development. She’s most definitely the strongest and most powerful celestial mage, even surpassing Anna who probably held that position for a long time.

Or she can find out more about who Ignia is. We know he’s Igneel’s biological son but what was their relationship like? How come Natsu didn’t know much about him? What are Ignia’s true intentions? What does he want with all of the mages with fire related magic abilities? I really hope the ending isn’t downplayed like the original story with END because let’s all be honest, it was so disappointing because where was the drama?! Everything that has been hyped up with showing END as this awful villain was not shown properly. I also think a connection back to Lucy’s fear of Natsu’s flames caused by Ignia would be interesting. I desperately need this to happen!

Anyway I’m getting off track but I just want Lucy to shine through her battle strategy, intelligence, and her amazing personality at least once before the end of the manga.

Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version

Lucy was so smart for this. It shows how quick witted she is and I love it. She used her situation for her own advantage. Jose’s expressions are so funny and it really shows how bewildered he was by her actions.

This is a scene that lacks any magical elements and I think it highlights how Lucy is more than just a damsel in distress or a character solely for fan service. Despite her hands being tied and missing her keys, she still managed to gain the upper hand in this circumstance. Since the start of the series, Lucy has grown so much and gained confidence in herself, although she still has a long way to go. She’s one, if not the best, developed character in the entire FT franchise. I honestly just love her 🫶.

Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version

Let’s dive right into the next arc: Phantom Lord. Honestly I loved how easily Mashima transitioned from the demonic island arc into this, shifting the focus from Gray to Lucy’s past. He does this for the next few arcs, giving glimpses of each main characters past (except for Natsu who we eventually get in the end).

In this particular scene, I really liked seeing a slight defeat for FT. I think it adds room to grow and understand what is prioritized in the guild. After Gramps injury, I liked how Erza took charge and did what was best for the team, even if it meant retreating. I think it shows her experience and battle skills since it will be beneficial for FT overall if less people are injured. Erza pleading for the members to leave is just so touching! She’s one of the strongest but at this moment she felt weak. I also like how the members are circulating around Gramps. They’re being very protective of him and I think it shows how valuable he is for them. Gramps is one of my favorite characters in the series because of how comforting he can be (although I don’t always like his perverted humor)

Simultaneously, I really enjoyed Natsu’s sharp hearing picking up Phantom Lords plans against Lucy. If he hadn’t, I wonder what would have happened to her. Would she have jumped since she mentioned that she heard Natsu? Anyway, I like how he becomes focused on getting her back even though it hasn’t been that long since they met. It really shows how their relationship has evolved and the importance she has in his life.

Just a little something I wrote…

Dull light and a soft morning breeze seeped into the stifled apartment as Lucy arose from a restless slumber. She remained motionless, covered in blankets that lacked warmth, staring absentmindedly at the ceiling. It was serene yet devoid of comfort for the blonde mage. The mellow light cast false aspirations, mocking her empty state.

Despite year passing by without contact from her guildmates, Lucy held onto hope of waking from the nightmare. She unconsciously glanced over at the door, desiring her friends to burst through and whisk her away back to the place she knew as home.

A soft sigh escaped her lips as she pushed the thoughts away. A feeble attempt at burying it in the back of her mind. There was no need for another day of hopelessness. She recalled how the hours turned into weeks of impatiently waiting for their return. Time slipped away from her, like a river running dry. She wished it had taken the lingering emotions pounding rapidly in her chest with it.

Impulsively, Lucy packed her belongings and fled to Crocus. After being offered a modeling job, she worked day and night, keeping her focus solely on the task. It prevented her mind from wandering into the depths of her memories. Her efforts paid off, earning her the position of journalist. A lifetime ago, Lucy would’ve been ecstatic. Now, she had a glimpse of a different reality she couldn’t shake off. Like a second skin, haunting her every step.

The blaring screech of the halting train grabbed her attention, making her aware of her surroundings. A white scarf fluttered in front of her. Eyes widened, a small smile blooming as she reached forward. Her arms stopped midway, her fingers clenched into a fist. Disappointed loomed as she realized her reality was intertwined with a faint mockery of desperation. She laughed at her misery in an attempt to keep tears at bay as she walked onward.

The stadium was brimming with hundreds of people, eagerly awaiting the events to unfold. She, too, was filled with the enthusiasm, a slight hope to find a familiar face among the crowd of strangers. She was met with everlasting loneliness in its place. A heavy weight pulled her further into its empty embrace.

But today was different. An intruder entered the stadium. A sudden burst of excitement pooled in her stomach as she grabbed her pouch, a habit formed by her dreamlike past. Since moving to the capital, she has rarely used magic. It served as a reminder of who she was meant to be. It felt natural. The golden keys were cool to the touch. However, her actions were quickly shut down. Her body on autopilot as heat rose in the stadium. A familiar feeling she yearned for. Only one person could make her feel safe in the midst of grief. A faint smile betrayed her shock as she recognized the pink-haired mage grinning softly at her. An urgent sense of relief and warmth flared in her chest. Everything would be okay after all.
