Just curious, how do you think Natsu would react to seeing the END markings on Lucy?

Outwardly, Natsu doesn't say anything. He plays up the oblivious, idiot role so he doesn't have to confront the guilt he feels about it

The marks never went away. They faded pretty light but you can still seem them when the sun hits them. Lucy uses makeup to cover them as well

But Natsu has better eye sight than most. So he always sees them and it kills him. He never looks down when talking to her

Somehow he feels like if he looks at them or acknowledges them in anyway, he will explode with guilt

He accidentally grabbed that arm and flinched like he had been burned. Lucy got really insecure when he pulled away and got quiet

Actually, Lucy gets really insecure about Natsu's behavior in general. He won't even look at her half the time and she worries that he thinks she's disgusting with her scars

Every time Natsu thinks about the marks, he remembers that he wasn't strong enough to protect her or himself. And that she had to go through all of that pain to save him

He's eternally grateful that she saved his life, but he can't help but hurt when he sees the consequences of that

Lucy does eventually confront him about it. Natsu denies everything and tries to pretend he never noticed the marks. Lucy calls bullshit, but he's acting so weird that she drops it

It takes a long time for Natsu to talk to her about it. And when he does, he fully breaks down and dumps all the guilt and trauma he's been suppressing for years

He ends up crying in her arms and apologizing for not being enough

Lucy, of course, disagrees with that and tells him that he's saved her life tons of times and that she'd do anything for him

Natsu finally allows himself to look at the marks after that

He even picks up a habit of tracing them with his fingers on bad days

It reminds him that he doesn't have to be strong all the time, that Lucy can protect him and herself, and of the history they share

Except there was no air to burn, and no regular magic to fuel it. Or really, his regular magic couldn’t get out. The whole place felt like another sealstone cuff, and it sucked. He could move his etherious around though, so that was something. Maybe… It was just another form of magic, wasn’t it? Natsu knew what it felt like, so that was the first big step to using it. If he could use that to power his fire instead of ether, which is what it usually wanted. It would be close enough, right? Igneel always said that fire was more about spirit and feeling, more than anything else—the magic was just there as something for the fire to burn. It was worth a shot. It took far more conscious effort than he was used to using, and that alone felt weird. Natsu focused on the etherious and tried to use his fire just as he always did. It was rough. At first, nothing was happening, but as he focused more and more, the etherious started to react. It felt nothing like using regular magic. There was no rush or thrill, like an exerted muscle or a used breath; it was just strings sharply tugging at his gut, connecting him and the magic he was reaching for without taking it in. A ring of red flared around him. The etherious fire was dark red and wispy, just as hot but not as lively. The tugging sensation increased, hindering his ability to breathe, but the fire was there, though slightly outside his control. He wondered if this was what it felt like to use magic weapons, with magic that existed but not within you. He wasn’t the biggest fan, but his respect for Erza certainly grew if this was what she put up with all of the time.

It's Natsu Day!!!

So I decided to throw together Natsu saying no to regular physics to celebrate. Just casually burning through spatial magic. No big deal. Just our favorite absolutely-cracked etherious dragon slayer Fairy Tail mage doing his thing.

tbh sometimes i just flat out ignore Natsu being END bc i genuinely dont know what to do with it,

The headcanons i have for demons dont really fit in with his character like they do with Gray and Mira. I could say its because he was brought up as a human and is only half demon so he didnt develop demon/esque traits. But the same can be said abt Gray so like???? Logic sucks

Because I Love You

As soon as Lucy takes a step forward, he snarls. It should be intimidating but it somehow isn't. Which encourages her to take another step.

"I said, stay away!" The man before her yells, yet it isn't enough to convince her.

"And I said that I won't."

He groans, almost like he's in some sort of physical pain. Except for the cuts and bruises all over his body, he seems fine.

But he looks so distinct than the Natsu she knows. He kooks like a completely different person, with his claw-like hands and twisted horns.

And his eyes. Glinting red orbs that hold so many emotions- anger, sorrow, pain, regret and something Lucy doesn't quite recognise- that it almost suffocates her.

"Do you really not get, who I am and the threat I posses?" He clenches his fists, as if holding himself back from something.

There's a desperation in his posture.

Lucy answers without a second thought, "I don't. All I understand is that, you're my Natsu."

His eyes widen as she slowly walks closer to him. He growls in protest, as though doing so will make her run away from him.

"I'm an etherious, the master of the Tartarus demons," he rasps, "My flames will burn you. Lke it did to everything around us. I'm not the one you know, this... is my true self!"

Lucy ignores his words.

Lucy ignores the heavy air- with smoke and ashes, from the surroundings being reduced to nothing by his fire- filling her lungs. Her throat burns. She ignores the exhaustion from using up too much magic that her legs want to give out. She ignores the distant cries of people scattered over the battlefield, wanting to be saved by someone. She ignores the fact that they're amidst a war and can be attacked by enemies at any given opportunity.

All that matters, is him.

"If so, I'll gladly burn." As many times as it takes to make him understand, she tells herself.

He stiffens, doesn't say anything. Just stares.

Because he already knows the answer.

In normal circumstances, Lucy wouldn't tell him what she feels for him. For she's too afraid to ruin what they have.

However she will, now. If that's what it takes to bring him back.

"Natsu," she calls his name, reminding him who he truely is. Holds out her hand as she stands in front of him. Not afraid of the flames dancing along his skin.

"Luce, please... I remember them calling me a demon." A tear strolls down his cheek, eyes cast down.

Lucy touches him, as if she knew his magic too well to be hurt by it. Pulls him closer until their foreheads press together. His amber flames enclosing them.

"I remember calling your name, Natsu."

He cries, and asks. "Why?"

You're an idiot, Lucy thinks with a smile. Finally says, "Because I love you."

Headcanon Request: What if Levy rewrote the Book of E.N.D?

Lucy still tried originally, but Gray wasn't able to cool her down fast enough so she ended up collapsing

With no hesitation, Levy takes over

While no human can read the demonic language, Levy does understand more of it than Lucy

Which is good because she doesn't have as strong of a bond as Lucy and Natsu do so making her way through the book is difficult

Levy can't read Natsu well so she relies on what she can read to make her way through the book

Gray has to double his ice output because Levy has zero tolerance to Natsu's heat

It doesn't help that Natsu's flames seem to sense that it's not Lucy anymore and have gotten hotter in defense

Levy, being the badass she is, keeps on and manages to save Natsu

Her side effects are pretty brutal

She can't see out of her one eye for weeks

Levy has to go to physical therapy to fix the muscle damage done by the fire

Gajeel is absolutely falling apart with worry. He waits on her hand and foot.

He also fights off the urge to take out his frustrations on Natsu

Levy and Lucy have matching scars from handling the book and they joke that it's their version of best friend bracelets

Natsu goes out of his way to repeatedly thank Levy for what she did

Levy now has the rare but very powerful perk of having Natsu at her command

She can call him to help her out at any point in time with no questions asked

Levy keeps telling him he doesn't have to do everything she asks but Natsu insists it's the least he can do
