Supercorp - Rehashing the Fallout once more

Today's menu: Kara Danvers' Double-Standards.

I am rewatching Supergirl, and it occurred to me why I am with Lena on the "you lied to me" point. (Not the brain-wash the planet or taking a year to get over herself and realize her own - horrible - mistakes parts, though.) Not because of the lie itself or its content, but its context with Kara's very own history!

Let's take a walk...

In the pilot Kara gets mad at Alex for her having kept her double-life as a DEO agent secret from her.

Kara is utterly disappointed and distraught at the secrets her parents kept from her (Medusa, Myriad), some of which affected her directly (Krypton's impending destruction).

Kara finds out that James is Guardian before he told her and she was pretty upset, explains it's because they are humans throwing themselves into danger.

When J'onn explains to Kara how bonded Martians share their minds, Kara expresses how she thinks the “no secrets, no lies” sounds “beautiful”.

Kara ends their relationship with Mon-El over him lying about his true identity (and him being the Prince of a cruel society), ignoring him when he said he tried several times to tell her. When Mon-El let himself into Kara's apartment to apologize, he BEGS for forgiveness

but Kara says she deserved better than being lied to… Yes, she secretly forgave him at this point but still breaks up with him (Rhea told her to do so) and cries over it.

Music Meister teaches Kara (and Barry): “Love is about letting yourself be saved, it's not just about saving other people.”

Trust.

Lillian tells Kara, she doesn't need to spill SG's identity, because when Lena FINDS OUT, it'll be so much worse.

(And Lillian was SO on point!)

When Kara and Clark spar and have a heart-to-heart, Kara wonders if she can have it all, Clark assures her about the most important people make keeping the secret worth it and how letting (only) those important people in IS enough. Later, asked the same questions, Cat tells Kara that women have the guts to be vulnerable, lists her accomplishments.

Kara does not take Lena possessing some of Lex's Kryptonite nor the whole Sam/Reign-secret kept from her well. Gets even angrier when Lena creates her own Kryptonite (in her quest to fight/cure Reign …and cancer and other human ailments).

Or Mon-El hesitating to tell and keeping from Kara about his time-travelling, marriage and his actual mission…

That is up until mid-s03 and not even counting the many times how the show also taught us through Alex', J'onns and Lena's lenses that lying and pretending to be someone one is not to those important/close to oneself, is harmful to their (romantic and platonic) relationships and themselves.

Do I need to go on?

...Kara is clearly fully aware at that point that secrets (even her own) do not bode well in any type of relationships she would like to have and keep.

And, yes, I am fully aware of the "point of no return" argument, in all its validity, that at some point the lies had stacked up so much, that the hurt was inevitable, the fear of rejection more and more founded, of Kara wanting to be "just Kara" with Lena… Every season, every in-show year that passed and Kara kept her secret(s), it became impossibly harder to come clean. But, re-watching the show, it just seems so… irresponsible? And the more often Kara makes a point herself being lied to is a bad thing, even …hypocritical.

I am not saying any of the people who lied to or kept things from Kara were in the right or wrong - a totally different discussion that would require individual assessment. But, Kara, making the same point over and over again? Several times about the very topic of hidden/fake identities and double-lives… But then proceeding to keep her proclaimed best friend in the dark about herself, still?

Yeah, that bugs me. A lot.

IMO, after the whole Mon-El returned thing Kara would or should have had an epiphany about telling Lena the truth about herself… but then Reign beat her into a coma and all kinds of hell broke loose.

But… Yeah. Not even for Supercorp reasons. But internal logic.

From a story-writing perspective; you have your (main) character face a (similar but slightly different) situation a couple times before they learn their lesson. You plant the seeds (in this case: identity reveal) and then have it play out, based on what the character had learned(!) this far. And you have them deal with the worst-case-scenario backlash, if you need any for drama's sake, but it should make some level of sense… Instead they had Kara learn nothing, had her lie to Lena for another two years, and turned Lena into a spiraling madwoman. And Kara… well, now in Mon-El's shoes, could not quite understand how Lena (in Kara's former shoes, but with much more tainted personal experiences) was deeply, intimately hurt, devastated, and struggling.

Kara saw this coming - but tbh, when Lillian spoke so (unintentionally) truthful, Kara should have focused on the implied "if someone ELSE but you tells her", and when talking to Kal, realized that he didn't keep his secret FROM his most important people (Lois, James…) to protect them. Taken Cat's advice to have the guts to be vulnerable to reap Lena's long-term trust instead of settling for "for now this works, right?".

Not to mention that the whole show over and over stressed, that Kara could "have it all" without revealing herself to the world (the 100th episode even making a point that telling the world WILL put her loved ones at risk) or deciding on one half of herself, but then the show ended, and… yeah… I guess, some sort of witness protection for everyone?

No more casual strolls for "just Kara" through the park…

I adore the show, but… continuity?

It's just a bit painful to re-watch the show and watch Kara fault and shame others over and over again, only to go ahead and do the thing herself... Aware, yet oblivious. And NOBODY calls her out on it. (The one time Alex asked her and Kara was all like "I had to take the dog to the vet" is too little too late.)

Thankfully the fandom is so amazingly creative <3

After so nicely helping me out with the bookshop maybe you can help with a more serious question. I know we all have different theories and opinions about what happened in the last fifteen, so there won't be the one answer until S03. What haunts me most since finishing is the "I forgive you". For me it seems not to be the trained angelic phrase he always uses when they are arguing again. There must be more behind and I don't want to believe that it's about loving the Angel Crowley over the Demon Crowley and it's an act of mercy.

I have given much more full and nuanced answers in primarily these two metas:

A Nightingale Sang in 1941

Continuity Errors

In both cases, I believe two things:

Aziraphale is actually forgiving Crowley for doing something that upset him, which goes beyond just kissing him. Aziraphale is upset that Crowley is trying to force his hand, that he used this as cover for a trick, or that he made Aziraphale have his first kiss under the worst possible conditions. Whatever the exact reason or confluence of reasons, it really is a forgiveness.

Aziraphale is protecting Crowley from the Metatron because *a demon sexually assaulting an angel* (which is what Aziraphale has to pretend that was, since he can't own his feelings back) could get Crowley into really big trouble, and he's trying to preempt any punishment by granting Crowley his celestial forgiveness, under the hope/theory that the Metatron isn't going to violate that and punish Crowley anyways.

That's my working theory of "I forgive you" as of time of publishing. But I'm doing a lot of research and cogitation to figure out exactly who Crowley and Aziraphale are from an apocryphal perspective, and what I discover may change my mind. So there's that. Don't crucify me, Blackbonnets, I want to talk about this ship for a second. So in season one we have this charmed feeling where everything is easy for Ed and Stede, right? It's cute, romantic, fluffy and it makes sense. Cue the Kraken. Look, I love the Kraken and I will defend the Kraken with my life but it took him all of 5 minutes to appear, and God did he appear with a vengeance. You can't just apologize your way out of a mess like this, no matter how many sexy cat collars you're wearing. Camping and fishing for a few days doesn't fix it either. He's in a better place now but Ed clearly has a lot of growing/figuring out to do still and the best way to do it isn't by being in a relationship - lest you start depending on the other person to be your only source of sanity.

(I'm being a total hypocrite now lol, I would probably let Izzy swoop in there but just. just belay that please)

And Stede is just learning how to be free. How to spread his wings. Be a pirate. Have admirers. Have all the fun he had dreamed of/and read about in his books. Doesn't he deserve the unbound experience, instead of being immediately dick-notized by Ed? I'm not saying they're not going to be endgame anyway - I'm saying that if we do get our s03 I hope these issues will be explored.

And regardless of everything I just said, look at the scenes they have together. Like I can't NOT enjoy them. I can't not invest my emotions in them. They are. so. beautiful. Such a testimony to the writing, directing, the whole crew. We need more of this. We need closure. We need this story finished.

The Seoul Institute of Art & Design’s fiftieth anniversary concert was about to come to an end, and to say that you’re satisfied with the outcome of the event was an understatement. There were a lot of people in attendance, alumni and current students alike. Rkive 360 was able to book the biggest names in the local music scene to participate in the event; one of the artists even graduated from SIAD, which made the experience even more meaningful.

You were so busy looking around, gazing up at the audience that you didn’t notice Jungkook and Mingyu talking in hushed voices a few feet away from you. Not even a minute later, Mingyu wrapped his arm around your shoulders and patted your head endearingly, “Having fun, boss?”

“Meh…” You tilted your head, shrugging off Mingyu’s arm.

“Tsss… liar!”

“Okay, yeah, a bit!” You giggled, and it sounded like music to Jungkook’s ears who’s standing right behind you. “I’m just a little tired.”

Jungkook cleared his throat behind you, getting your attention, “Why don’t we take a breather outside? It’s getting quite stuffy in here.”

“Yeah,” Mingyu agreed. “I stepped out for a smoke earlier and the campus ground is pretty empty. You’ll enjoy the silence and the fresh air.” He took the radio from your hand and clipped it to his jeans, “Go with Jungkook. I’ll wrap this up.”

“Are you sure?” The offer sounded appealing to you.

“Yeah, go,” Mingyu nodded at the direction of the stage door. “I got this.”

“Let’s go, Yn…” Jungkook chimed in.

“Okay, let’s go…”

Mingyu has never been more correct. You immediately felt the gentle breeze of the wind on your skin the moment you stepped out of the packed arena into the empty campus grounds. From your viewpoint, you could see the rows of the sorority and the fraternity houses, the student dormitories, the art exhibit hall, and the lecture buildings that shaped you all up and honed your skills.

“Wow…” You whispered in awe as you walked by Jungkook’s side, looking around at your alma mater. “Has it really been more than ten years since we graduated?”

“Hmn…” he nodded, doe eyes also looking around.

“I wonder if our professors are still here… and if they still remember us.”

“Of course, they remember us. We were Roger and Rafa back then.” He laughed, scrunching up his nose like a bunny at the memory of your college rivalry. The tennis reference wasn’t lost on you since that’s the only sport you enjoy.

“You’re forgetting we had Mingyu…”

“Oh yeah, the Novak to our Roger and Rafa.” Jungkook brisk-walked ahead of you to that familiar curb where you have last seen each other before the graduation. “Hey, do you remember when…” he stuttered, he wanted to ask you if you remembered your kiss but he didn’t want to get ahead of himself too much.

“Huh?”

“Do you remember when Joshua’s parents threw him a party in our frat house as if it’s THEIR house and invited everyone?”

“Yeah!” You smiled fondly at the memory. How could you forget? Of course, you remember that night so well. “Definitely a fun night, one of my fondest memories.”

“Yeah?” Jungkook’s cheeks warmed up at your words. The lamppost where he kissed you came into view just then and Jungkook stopped in his tracks causing you to stop walking as well. “What is your fondest memory here, YN?”

You stepped closer to the lamppost, grazing the chipping paint with your dainty fingers, and Jungkook’s heart started ramming loudly inside his chest, silently wishing you remember the kiss as fondly as he does. “You see that exhibit hall?” You asked softly, cocking your eyebrows to the direction of the glass building across the street. “In the first year that they asked me to join the exhibit for the Arts Festival, I was the youngest girl and the only girl in Film too, but I got the most recognition.”

Jungkook couldn’t take his eyes off of you. Your side profile was softly illuminated by the light coming from the lamppost, and your eyes were glimmering as you stared ahead at the exhibit hall.

“Yeah, I remember that arts festival…” He made a show of opening his arms out with his eyes closed, filling his lungs up with air before exhaling heavily, trying to get rid of the nerves before saying the following words to you out loud. “I tried to ask you out on a date on its first day.” He slipped his hands in his pockets before looking down on the ground, swaying from side-to-side.

You leaned against the lamppost, and you weren’t sure whether it’s the cold metal hitting your skin or Jungkook’s words that sent a cold shiver down your spine. “What?” You eyed Jungkook over a dubious expression. “What do you mean you tried to ask me out on a date?”

Jungkook furrowed his brows, a physical evidence that the wheels in his head were turning. He didn’t know how to explain what went on back then without sounding like a complete idiot. “Um…” he cleared his throat. “Yeah. i was going to ask you out but i ended up accidentally insulting you and well, you’ve hated me—”

You cut him off with a snort and the color drained from his face, a clear indication of his panic that he’s still being misunderstood twelve years later.

“You meant to ask me but insulted me instead?” You couldn’t help but laugh even though you noticed how hard your heart just started beating.

Jungkook’s shoulders slumped and for a hot second he looked like a college boy again. “You aren’t supposed to laugh about it,” he whined with a pout, trying to meet your eyes. “It was traumatizing for me.”

You blinked at him for a moment, heart still racing and it’s getting harder to ignore. “For you?!” You stared at him incredulously, “How about for me? I was the one who was insulted!”

“No!” he quickly shook his head, the same pout still on his lips. “For me! I had to somehow come back from that moment when I had such a huge crush on you!”

Now it’s your turn to shake your head, “Of course Jeon Jungkook would make this a competition!" You huffed out quietly before asking, “So okay, you didn’t mean to insult me back then?”

“Of course not! I didn’t know how to fix it and my feelings and then… Then of course I kissed you and—"

“—Wait, wait, wait, wait…” you stared at him dumbfounded, blinking repeatedly. “You….you remember kissing me?"

Jungkook tilted his head in slight surprise and confusion before breaking into a more serious expression, eyes completely sucking you in, “You think that’s something I would forget?” he asked, voice soft and quiet.

A beat of silence fell between the two of you, but there’s a whole marching band and fanfare making all sorts of noise in your hearts.

You leaned your head back onto the lamppost but your eyes stayed on him. “So…” you took a breath, “You wanted to ask me out at that time?”

Looking at him had always been so easy but everytime his eyes would meet yours, you wanted to look away. But you didn’t, and neither did he.

“Yeah,” he sighed out.

You have a subtle nod, swallowing down the sudden nerves because your heart was clattering inside of your rib cage. “And….just at that time?”

Jungkook didn’t want to overthink, but he thought he understood what you were insinuating.

“Um,” he rocked back on his heels, “At that time? Yeah…?”

“Yeah, but was that the only time, or…?”

“Well,” he gulped. “Since I kissed you later on, then probably not.” He answered simply.

“Yeah but…” you gave a vague gesture with your hands.

Jungkook, ever the expert that he is for mimicking, did exactly just that. “But what?”

“But… you know.” You gestured around again, rolling your eyes for good measure too.

“I know what?”

Letting your frustrations get the better of you, you stepped closer to him and rested your hands on your waist. “Why didn’t you ask me out again?”

Jungkook suddenly looked antsy, eyes going around before he mumbled, “How could I? You already hated me.”

“But you still—“

A small smile played on his lips “—why? Do you want me to ask you out again?”

“I don’t mean NOW! I mean, like,” you crossed your arms over your chest, your heart now thumping loudly in your ears. “I was just saying…“

Jungkook boldly took a step closer to you, making you take a step back until your back met the lamppost again. You’re forced to tilt your head up slightly to Jungkook’s big doe eyes boring into your almond-shaped ones. “What were you saying then?” He whispered, his hot breath subtly hitting your cheek.

“I…”

“Tell me, Yn…”

“I just mean… You should have tried again…”

Jungkook studied your face before his fingers were on your jaw and he’s slowly guiding your head to face him properly.

“Would you have said yes?”

You felt the urge to turn your head again, or to even slide your eyes to the side but you couldn’t— not with his fingers on your jaw and his gaze sucking you in again.

“JK—“

“Would you have? Back then?” He cut you off, his voice ever so gentle. “At that time, I mean.”

“I’m not sure.” You answered honestly but with the way your heart was racing, you didn’t think that’s the question you wanted him to ask you. Jungkook gave you a small smile, his cheeks growing rosier. “Then maybe that timing wasn’t what was meant to be.” He shrugged, timid smile still on his face. “I really, really liked you and—“

“So you don’t anymore?” You had the guts to ask.

Jungkook chuckled to himself, his face burning up. “That’s kind of what you’ve been getting at right?”

The sudden wobble in his tone gave his nerves away. You couldn’t help but wonder if his heart is going as crazy as yours.

“Well I don’t know what I am getting at.” You admit nonchalantly.

“Then I also don’t know.” Jungkook said with a slight chuckle, biting his lip and tonguing his lipring.

You narrowed your eyes at him, “Yes you do, so just say it.”

He narrowed his own eyes in response, “Say what?”

“Seriously?”

“Yes, seriously!” Jungkook finally dropped his hand from your face. “What am I supposed to say?”

You averted your gaze away from him, your own pout forming. “Well…” you dropped your arms to your side and made another vague gesture. “You know.”

“I know?”

“Yes.”

Jungkook’s face only grew redder, “Wow I have already confessed so much yet—“

“What exactly have you confessed?” you mumbled, still averting his gaze. “You had a crush on me years ago but…” you gestured around again but jungkook quickly grabbed your wrist to stop you.

You’ve never been one to beat around the bush, but this is new. There’s something different between you both right now.

“YN, can you look at me?” He asked, and you managed to get lost in his eyes again. He had his lips caught between his teeth as he took a deep breath, bracing himself for another confession. “Okay,” he started. “I was so into you I… I asked you… Wait no, I tried to… Well, I failed at…” he started mumbling his words. You’re a hundred percent sure that if you touched his cheeks, your fingertips would burn. “Um, I kissed you that time and now here I am, remembering that time and well, and also…” The words are shameless as they poured out of his mouth, like he wasn’t fully aware of what he was trying to say.

You found it cute, that a grown man like him would be that affected. It’s endearing even. You watched his lips move up and down through his speech but you’ve drowned out his words because your focus wasn’t on them anymore. You finally ripped your eyes off his mouth and back to his eyes as you tried to make out his words again.

“So, it wasn’t that simple, how was I supposed to just ask you—“

Your fingers were quick to gently pull him closer to you by his neck. His words completely silenced when your lips met his. Jungkook melted into the kiss for a few seconds, clearly surprised by what you just did. But just like clockwork, he had you up against the lamppost, his hand was once again back on your jaw holding you gently, as he sought permission to deepen the kiss.

He rested his forehead against yours, chuckling and chasing after his breath after you pulled away.

“So if I asked you out again right now… Would you say yes?”

You giggled against his lips before curling your fingers on his shirt, pulling him in and kissing him again— up against the same lamppost where he kissed you on the night before graduation.

A/N: AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Okay, funny story, I was brainstorming with @taestefully-in-luv while I was working on this chapter and she had a suggestion that she was so excited about! Unfortunately she couldn’t put it into words, and we weren’t getting anywhere! So she went, “Okay, let me play around on this one…” After about an hour (yes exactly 1 hour!), she sent me two long a$s messages that contained most of the conversation you just read here! I mean, that’s what friends are for, right?

All the chapter scripts for Triangle Strategy are now up on the wiki! The scripts should contain essentially all of the text from the game, with the exception of some UI and other not-dialogue things.

Long-winded list + rambling about what I still need to clean up under the cut:

I haven't touched the mid-battle dialogue yet for the most part. It's all pasted in every chapter, but I've pretty much just slapped a "This dialogue is triggered if [condition unknown]" label on all of the lines and called it a day.

The dialogue for each side story is only included in the data once, so if one side story is included in multiple different route paths, there's a decent chance I missed that. Once I get the basic script down, I'll go back and take a closer look to make sure I have the side stories duplicated where they need to be.

There are also a few scenes that were in the script and that I can remember playing through, but they didn't seem to actually be in the chapter the datamining said they would be in, so I need to track down where they actually go.

Event descriptions are mostly all there, but there were a few places I need to go back and check.

There are a lot of little general things I might have missed (things like conditionals that didn't show up in the ids I was looking at, so they flew under my radar).

Question-answer associations are likely mixed up in a lot of places. I touched on it in a previous post, but this is due to the fact that when Serenoa is answering a question, there's no real id that's used to indicate what dialogue follows a specific answer. So I've mostly just gone off of what sounds right for the time being. But if you're dying for a not-tldr explanation (and of course you're dying for a not-tldr explanation!!!!):

The way I've been "datamining" a lot of this isn't actually datamining so much as it is sort of......... making educated guesses based on the developer's variable naming system. Like for example, a specific piece of dialogue might be named:

MS01_X01_A1_0010_F_FRE_0070

And what I did was sort of reverse-figure-out what those ids indicated. I figured out that MS stands for "Main Story," 01 is the chapter number, X indicates that it's part 2 (if there ARE two parts, otherwise it's just the whole chapter), A1 is a reference to the location (Wolffort Demense), 0010 I think is technically some sort of scene id, but I haven't been able to crack what exactly the value indicates. "F" is the gender, "FRE" indicates that Frederica is the speaker, and "0070" is some other numbers that I did actually figure out what they meant but it's not relevant to datamining (it's a counter for how many times a specific character has spoken in a scene, which was probably useful for making sure each dialogue line got a unique id but it's not super useful in any other sense). (Also my little brother was actually the one to figure that out for me so shout out to him!!!)

There are variants on this with other information included, such as:

Which is a line of Erador's dialogue with roughly this interpretation:

MS: Main Story

02: Chapter 2

X: Main Chapter Content

RESEARCH: Comes from Exploration phase

01: Version 1

DRAMA: This happens during the exploration phase (as opposed to before or after it)

M: Male

ELA: Erador is the speaker

S01: Scenario ID 1 (usually means this is the dialogue that displays the first time you speak to him, vs. any time afterward)

0020: speaker count again

With questions specifically (like Benedict asking, "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), those lines of dialogue usually get the label S03. That "S03" label is applied to all parts of the question-related conversation, including: the question itself (e.g. "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), Serenoa's answers ("I think it's to show off our military might", "I think it's to make friends," etc.), and any NPC response that follows (e.g. Benedict saying, "Not quite, my lord. You see, it's actually..."). As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell what answer goes with what NPC response. It would PROBABLY be in the code somewhere, but while variable names are really easy to see, the actual code is a lot harder to break into and would require likely learning a new coding language and other stuff I simply don't feel like doing.

So thus I'm just guessing a lot of times. For a fair amount of it, it's pretty easy to tell what response goes with what question, but whenever it's ambiguous, it's entirely possible I mixed up the placement of a few lines here and there.

Revenge Can Hurt More Than the Person It's Aimed at - An Angsty Nygmobblepot x Reader Hurt/Comfort Fix-it Fic

Chapter 1: Late Messages and Phone Calls

(I made a cover for this, whaat? With text messages from the fic edited onto flip phones? Yes, I did 😄🤗)

Word count: 1757

Reader: gender-neutral (no pronouns)

Spoilers: season 3 episode 12 (& in later chapters for at least S03 E15) Stop reading here if you want to avoid the spoilers :)

Plot: After Ed left his position, seemingly due to Oswald's love for him, the mayor's left with his no one but other best friend, you, who comforts him as best as possible, all while Oswald tries not to lose you as well - or accidentally tell you that he's in love with not just Ed but you.

Meanwhile Ed hopes to destroy Oswald from within, making him doubt his own perception by playing evil tricks on him.

At least he tries to do so. There's still you, who he's kept in the dark so that he could hurt Oswald unexpectedly.

However, he'll soon ask himself whether it's worth seeing you hurt by Oswald's poor state.

Warnings: canon betrayal (including gaslighting & intimidation) & poor mental state, a lot of angst (Ed's hate for Oswald)

Author's note: I originally just wanted to write some comfort for Oswald for this episode and well, Ed needed to be there for the original hurt to be there, so I made it Nygmobs x reader 🥰

Ed had chosen not to tell you his plans. You would only confront Oswald, ask him whether he had truly killed Isabella, acceleratung the process and taking away from Oswald's suffering, and oh, how Ed wanted him to suffer!

He'd tell you in time, when he had captured Oswald. Once you knew that Oswald had killed her, you wouldn't like him anymore, and then Ed could take Oswald's life.

You'd be sadder about his betrayal of Ed than about his death. After all, Ed's relationship with Oswald's was just as good as yours to the mayor, so wouldn't your reaction be the same?

Ed didn't know for sure and it was plaguing him. He didn't want to hurt you.

Everyone you love gets hurt sooner or later, he heard a familiar voice inside his head whisper. It had been piping up more over these last weeks, at least more than it had when everything had been alright. When Oswald's concern had been a lie.

What a pretty lie it had been: spending time with his best friends, going on dates with Kris-Isabella, even before her, life had been like a daydream.

Not anymore. Oswald just had to go and destroy everything!

Ed balled his hands into fists. He had to be quiet, otherwise his whole plan might blow up.

Checking his muted phone one last time, he read your message from before again:

No, I won't be at the manor tonight. Why do you ask? Are you coming back?

Or just for a visit? You can call us anytime. Or just me.

Whatever it is that made you leave, I'm sure we can find a way to make things work.

No, we can't, he thought grimly, when a new message popped up that made his heart clench:

If this is about Isabella, it's okay too.

What is it about her? he thought alarmed. Did you know about her murder?!

A new message appeared:

Don't let what Oswald said bring you down. Even if you only knew her for a short time, it's alright to still grieve.

Did he still grieve? Ever since turning his ideas into plans he had thought about her less and less. All that was on his mind was his revenge, Oswald and you.

Thinking of: he started typing but then figured it would be best to wait until later. That way he could stall for time, make you expect less from him, only seeing the grieving boyfriend.

He was about to close his phone when he saw one last message:

Can we meet sometime? I want to make sure you're alright. Plus I haven't seen a friend for a long time.

He closed the phone. He hadn't seen you in too long indeed. And it was all Oswald's fault. He stood ready in the Van Dahl mansion near the switch for his illusion. Oswald would pay.

Until the finale however, there would be many more a step.

For the ones tomorrow, he'd text you this evening. He was already thinking of the phrasing.

After Oswald's encounter with what he was sure was his late father's ghost, he wanted nothing more than to be held by the two people he loved the most.

Unfortunately he was so shaken that it took him a minute to even walk to the bathroom to splash water onto his face.

That didn't help much and so he just stood there, frozen on the spot for half an hour, both of his legs stiffened uncomfortably, until he finally had to move to shake the feeling back into them.

He dialled your number first, not wanting to alienate Ed and knowing that you had already been ready to comfort him in the last weeks, without even knowing why exactly he was so sad.

The only thing you knew was that it had to have to do with Ed, who had resigned from his position as chief of staff and left the manor to live elsewhere.

When you asked, Oswald had merely said that it didn't matter, that it was criminals' business you needn't worry about.

You worried about it. Just a few weeks ago, you had believed Edward, Oswald and you to be be an inseparable trio, but now it was weeks since you had last seen the brown-haired man.

Oswald worried as well. After calling you four times, he decided to ignore his fear of annoying Ed, and called him. Twice. Then he waited until the hour was early instead of late to call again. Ed would simply have to see it as the emergency that it was.

After all, reciprocating Oswald's feelings or not, Ed still treasured their friendship...didn't he?

He had looked so shocked when he had heard Oswald confess his love, his hand raised so defensively.

But then in the library..."You're my best friend as well, Oswald" resonated in his head. If only he was more than that.

As soon as Oswald had gone to the bathroom, Ed had quickly gotten himself and the paid actor out of the mansion, and texted you when he was alone again.

I'm free tomorrow but after that I'm not available at all. Can you keep the day free?

He knew for a fact that you could. Lately Oswald had been clearing your schedule so that he could be comforted by you at any time.

You responded soon after:

Yes, I have the day off

When are you free?

Ed replied immediately:

I don't know when I'll be free yet, but maybe early on. He'd try to choose a time that would keep you away from Oswald for as long as possible.

He could tell you tomorrow that he didn't have time in the morning. Or for lunch or in the afternoon and so on and so on. Most importantly: you wouldn't be there to support Oswald when Ed's plan to make him freak out on Margaret Hearst's live show came into action.

The phone ringing mere seconds after Ed texted you made him light up at seeing that you were obviously waiting for him to respond.

Ok, I could always wait for you.

Ed smiled at your eagerness to see him. Your meeting would be wholesome. Unlike Oswald's bad, selfish possessiveness.

Wonderful! I hope he can spare you for a few seconds, I've missed you ;) Ed typed with a similar jealousy, not realizing his own hypocrisy...and not thinking about the hope that wink would elicit in you.

A wink... Had Ed mistyped? Edward Nygma, the man who sometimes sent comically formal messages? The man who had once asked whether this was "an adequate symbol for philandering via text" when he had dated Isabella?

In the last days his texts had lacked any trace of humour. Maybe he was feeling better.

I probably shouldn't interpret anything into a single letter. Maybe he tried to write a smiley and missed.... but he'd told Oswald once that he tried to proofread all of his messages just in case. Maybe he hadn't been wearing his glasses...which he almost always wore. Maybe he was...maybe he had had tears in his eyes?

Your heart ached at the thought. Seeing him so heartbroken after Isabella's death was horrible, add to that not seeing him at all, not even receiving written riddles...

You felt with him...and yet at the same time there was that insistent piece of jealousy, which was questioning why he would think more about a dead woman he had known for little more than a week than about his two best friends.

Of course you understood that he wasn't merely mourning the librarian but also his chance at a new chance of love. So despite it not feeling right on first thought, you'd let him grieve for as long as it helped him.

Just because there was someone else in love with him didn't mean that he was considering to give them a chance. It would be selfish of you to assume that.

Even if you were almost certain that you weren't just assuming. Before he had met Isabella, you could have sworn that there had been something else than friendship between him, Oswald and you.

He'd give each of you compliments with a lot more admiration than necessary, throw admiring glances your ways and lean towards the two of you as if he was being pulled in by a magical force.

Perhaps you were just projecting your love for them onto him; maybe he had only been beaming with joy because he treasured this friendships, which you definitely did as well.

It could be that he only got so close because he didn't understand the idea of personal space...even if he had once made a very hurtful jab at a politician who had stepped too close during an argument.

Still, maybe he just didn't have any previous examples of good friendship to base his behavior on.

When you thought about these things individually, the chance of him having had a crush on Oswald or you didn't seem big and there was almost always an excuse, but adding all the looks, compliments, leans, touches, smiles and talk of fate together, you couldn't help but think about your secret hope: that he had been, maybe even was, in love with you and Oswald.

Then the day he had handed in his resignation, you had been afraid that you'd lose him, that it had maybe just been living together and that he'd forget about you once he no longer saw you.

Yet he proved you otherwise when he texted you after leaving the manor, explaining that he needed time away from anywhere he had been with Isabella and that he hoped you would be alright without him.

He asked a lot about that, about whether you were doing okay, whether he could do anything for you.

What he didn't ask about was Oswald, at least not beyond inquieries of how he was doing, which only proved to you that something bad had happened between them: otherwise Ed would have already heard from Oswald himself and Oswald wouldn't constantly ask you about Ed.

It seemed a hopeless case. You should let go of it already. He and Oswald didn't even talk anymore.

Just then your cellphone lit up. Ed had sent you a new message:

I've really missed you.

You could almost hear his voice, low and comforting.

I've missed you too, you wrote back. Oh, how you still loved him!

Missed you a *lot*, you added.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Three

Just like I did with season two, I took some notes while watching season three.

There are spoilers, but since I've marked when a new episode starts, you could just skip those you haven't seen yet. If there are any.

(S03 E01) I feel you, Coulson. It's hard for me too to get used to calling her Daisy

"He looks big and intimidating. But inside, he's just a soft, little, fluffy little teddy bear."

It must be so tough, knowing you can't go back to your own life

I was waiting for them to mention that Simmons has been swallowed (15 minutes)

Glad that Bobbi's back at work tho.

I wasn't really able to pause the episode to write something down, so I don't really have any notes from this episode.

But, some things:

I feel bad for Jemma because she looked so guilty when May said that Lash killed all the inhumans, and she was the one who let Andrew free, just to save herself. I don't know, I just feel bad for her

Also, I feel bad for Fitz because he just wanted to bring Will back for Jemma and then Will turns out to be "it"

Also, the few seconds between Fitz shouting to Coulson that they have to hurry and them actually hurrying, when Coulson left his hand by Ward's side, that felt so much longer than it actually was.

Jemma standing by the container at the end, thinking that Fitz didn't make it, just hurt really

Also what was that last glance between Coulson and Fitz suppose to mean? That confused me

And because I feel like I haven't said it in a while: I really love Bobbi and Hunter

(S03 E11) What president is that supposed to be?

I love that Jemma still asks Fitz for his opinion, even when (it seems like) she doesn't really need it

This person with those super powers (who puts Mack in the car) is scary

What did Fitz do to Will, though? I thought Will really died saving Jemma and that, whatever it was, was just disguised as Will

Who could this person be who might know something about Malick?

This new "Ward" is really weird and scary

Bobbi's "Hey you" (rescuing Mack) made me unreasonable happy

When Coulson said "What about him?" to Lincoln, I thought he wanted to put him into this machine

Why is there almost no episode where no one is captured, hurt, knocked out, or anything like that? And why is it once again Bobbi and Hunter?

"Why are you really here?" is a pretty stupid question you can ask a person who you've kidnapped

Sometimes I feel like they just let Ward live (or something similar), so that Brett Dalton can continue to be a part of the series

(S03 E12)

"What are you?" - "What are we?" That was creepy

"No one would ever intentionally cut their hair like that" That's what I've been thinking about Talbot's hair cut for quite some time

Sometimes I wonder if Lincoln really doesn't follow orders because he doesn't want to or because he can't stop using his powers on command

I'm impressed by Brett Dalton's acting

How could anyone not want to be Hunter's friend? I mean, yes, sometimes he can be out of control and maybe he isn't ALWAYS the greatest friend, but deep down, I believe, he is a great friend and always there for you

Oh, I was wondering, why his right arm is in that sling, but that's actually a smart trick

Jemma calls him Dr. Fitz :)

Why does Hunter keep on doing his own thing?

And why is he always right? ("Oh, guns. Why does no one ever listen to me?")

And why do agents continue to read something or look for something with their backs to the room when they're in a room they're not supposed to be?

That was nice, that Hunter and Bobbi, for once, had a conversation on their own

For a second there I forgot that Bobbi speaks a lot of languages, including Russian

"How's everyone's Russian?" - "My pronunciation's not fluent." - "And mine's nonexistent." - "I dated a Russian hacker once, but I only learned the dirty words." Why is this all so in character?

"Amadeus Ravenclaw Hunter" only Hunter could give that answer (OH WAIT, that is really his real name!? I thought it was just Hunter not taking anything seriously) (Or isn't it? I'm not following. Can anyone give me answers whether or not that's his real full name?)

Would any of them mind just leaving Bobbi and Hunter alone?

Sometimes I think Coulson is too hard on people, in this case Lincoln

Fitz looks so shaky and kind of afraid when holding the gun against that guy in the car

I'm not overly fond of Mack's brother. I mean I understand why he's angry for Mack constantly putting him off, but still

I hate it when people are somewhere they're not supposed to be

(S03 E18) Fitz and Simmons are awfully formal, conspicuously inconspicuous

Daisy, to me at least, looks suspicious the whole time when talking to Hive, but I'm not sure if she is aware that she is possessed

I had to shoot him three times just to shut him up." - "Bet that felt good." - "Yeah, it did. Though it would have felt better had he actually died, instead of just sort of oozing."

(S03 E20) I didn't manage to write anything during the episode

But: I thought the lift from the bar to the HQ was really fancy

I was constantly angry at Lincoln for wanting to be with Daisy. So he fooled me too

I was definitely glad that he fooled me and didn't actually wanted to go to Daisy

I still don't like Talbot, even though he didn't really do anything for disliking him

I thought it was really cool that they tricked Hive and Daisy

I am still surprised that Lash doesn't harm Daisy, in contrary really. He was so careful when saving her and freeing her from Hive's sway

I am honestly not sure if I am glad that Lash died or not. Because, yes, he did kill a lot of innocent people, but he also saved Daisy, and maybe they need this power a few more times to free inhumans from Hive's sway

I did not really understand what bad news Fitzsimmons had in the end

(S03 E21) Fitz screamed like a monkey

I'm impressed that Fitz could keep up with that code

Fitz finally initiated a high-five and there's no one who's willing to give him one

Oh dammit, Coulson wants to put Daisy into that machine

Brett Dalton is honestly a very good actor

No, seriously, that was really thrilling

I can't recall particular thoughts or details I want to point out

But a few times I realized I'd clapped my hand over my mouth. I didn't know people really do that, I thought that's just something people in movies do

These new inhumans certainly are pretty creepy

When they were in the room where Jemma was hiding, I was so confused why they couldn't see her

Also Dr Radcliffe is too full of himself

Dammit, I knew Lincoln would die in this episode, but still- Whyyy? I was just stating to REALLY like him

Also Daisy didn't make it any easier not to cry

And that six-months-later scene wasn't what I was looking for. That Daisy left the team

And what the hell does Radcliffe plan to do?

Who is AIDA?

So many questions

But this also means that Fitzsimmons is now at least half a year together, which makes me happy

One of the few things in this episode that made me happy

So, this was me watching AoS season three within 11 days. That was... something. A lot to take in, to think about. I mean we finally got Fitzsimmons. Hive's dead. A lot of other good things happened. But sadly also a lot of bad and not-so-good things. I'm gonna miss Bobbi and Hunter like hell. I already do. (Well, not that I actually miss hell, but I'm gonna miss them really really much). But now to season four. Looking forward to it.
