Cities
I know Remus is technically a Cardiff boy, okay? But humour me and let me make him from tiny little Llanwrtyd Wells please??
Imagine living on the end of the earth.
Take that and combine it with the terrestrial rain every other day, and it’s Remus Lupin’s home. A small, hidden Welsh town called Llanwrtyd Wells.
Living in buttfuck nowhere meant that you knew everybody and everybody knew you.
Everybody.
When Remus had his first kiss, old ass Mrs Davies nudged him and said ‘well done’ the next day.
Still, it had its perks. Like not having to come out to his mum, because there were approximately two other gay guys in town, and while Osian wasn’t a bad kisser, he wasn’t quite prepared to date someone who went on and on about how much he loved his small town and basically didn’t say anything else. Also, the nights being quiet. If they happened to have a heatwave (once in a millennia) he could sleep with the window wide open, without worrying about cars speeding past, or getting robbed. Bar the few teenagers in Remus’ classes that liked to shoplift (until one of them got a slap around the head from Arwen for robbing her mum) or vandalise a building from time to time, people were too close for there to be much criminal activity.
It also meant that when Hope finally kicked Lyall out, there was no way he could stay in town. The people had made it clear that he wasn’t welcome back.
Yeah, Remus loved the town, and the people in it.
That didn’t mean he wasn’t excited when he got into Oxford on a full scholarship. A big fuck off English city and a prestigious ass university! Also, a chance to live in a big city, finally.
He wasn’t expecting to find the first 5 minutes so hard. The moment he got off the bus, he realised that in Oxford, people barged into each other without a sniff of an apology, just walking quickly through one another. Also, why was it so big? Remus could blink in the wrong place and he’d be lost! Eventually, he gave up on trying to navigate the overwhelming maze of buildings and roads, getting a ridiculously expensive Uber instead.
Checking in was stressful, getting his key and his ID and finding his flat was stressful.
He had an awful start to a city life.
Everything smelled like petrol fumes, he could hear the cars through the window, everything was grey. Remus had almost thought he had made a mistake.
The first perk of Oxford? His roommates.
James Potter was essentially a big ball of energy who somehow knew the city like the back of his hand, even though he wasn’t from Oxford, so he didn’t have to worry about getting lost. He would smile and talk and somehow make sure everybody felt included at the same time. He had stopped Remus from snapping at everybody and breaking down on his first day.
Peter Pettigrew was from a smaller town in Devon, Clovelly, so he and Remus had plenty of time to complain about the differences between towns and cities. Peter kept Remus sane, making him feel like he wasn’t really odd for not being able to sleep in the city, with all of it’s noise, or exchanging an amused glance at the fact that every building was identical.
Sirius Black was…
Sirius Black deserved an entirely separate perk dedicated to him.
He was the example of a hot Londoner. Christ, with his long, flowing black hair and silver eyes… Remus figured out very early on that he was falling for him, that much was obvious.
Still, he had never really been around someone he fancied before, not when he was falling so hard and fast. Tripping and stumbling from liking him to loving him before he had a chance to catch his balance. Honestly, the last thing he had expected was to fall in love with a Londoner who could sleep through aggressive evening construction, had a posh as shit accent and could look at a train map and just… understand it.
He was well and truly fucked.
Until he realised that Sirius got jealous when other people flirted with him. The revelation that came at the third perk of a big city: a lot of places to get drunk. As it turned out, Remus was the right kind of tall and broad shouldered to be considered desirable to city people. Specifically, to city men, which wasn't something that Remus was at all used to. He had never had to learn to put on a charm, a filter.
More specifically, he couldn't flirt to save his fucking life. That meant he essentially just had to stand and nod while guys talked at him.
Well, until Sirius swooped in one day and snogged him senseless in the middle of the dance floor in a gay club. Then he didn't have to worry about flirting, he was Sirius', nothing but Sirius'.
The city was the fucking best. Without the city, he wouldn't have met Sirius.
Still, his small town was perfect for making his city boyfriend visit over the summer. It was pretty much the highlight of his life.
Sirius was the perk of every city he was in.

Prompt 22 - Roommate AU
@wolfstarmicrofic April 22, word count 938
CW - Pandora jokes about Remus getting murdered and dismembered.
Moving countries was scary. Moving to the capital city seemed scarier. Remus left his childhood home in the Welsh countryside and clambered onto the bus that would take him to London.
He’d wanted to move for years but had always been too scared. His parents had instilled in him how dangerous it would be for him not to know anyone for hundreds of miles.
One morning, while he was munching on his cornflakes, he noticed an ad in his father’s newspaper.
‘Roommate Wanted!
All bills are paid. Just pay for your own food.
Sexy, well-bred male looking for a friend/companion to share a house in a highly sought-after area of London.
Please use the number below to apply. Please, serious enquiries only. No, this is not a joke.
P.S. Must love Bowie, or we’re not going to get along.’
Remus quickly put his breakfast things away and, grabbing his phone, fled outside, typing the number into his phone as he went.
He settled under his favourite tree and pressed call.
“Hello,” A husky voice answered.
“Oi, hi. My name is Remus Lupin, and I—” He started to explain.
“Look, mate. I don’t know what you’re selling, but calling me at this ungodly hour is unacceptable. Goodbye.”
“Wait- wait. I’m not selling anything. I’m phoning about your ad!” Remus hurriedly spoke before the man could hang up.
“Oh, in that case. Hello, I’m Sirius.” Sirius suddenly sounded a lot more cheerful. “So why do you want to be my roommate?”
“Well, erm. I’ve always wanted to move to London, but I’ve been a bit worried about living there on my own.” He told Sirius, deciding the truth would be best.
“Uhuh, uhuh. Anything else?” Sirius sounded a bit bored. Remus knew he was screwing this up.
“I’m clean and tidy and don’t make much noise. I have enough money saved to pay my way—” Sirius cut him off again.
“All the bills are paid for. You only need to get yourself food.” Remus nodded even though Sirius couldn’t see him.
“Oh, right. I wasn’t sure if that bit was true. Erm, I don’t have a job yet, but I’ll start looking straight away.”
“Remus, I’m gonna stop you there. I don’t think we’re going to be a good fit. I can already tell you are the complete opposite of me. No offence, but you sound like you go to bed early and like nothing more than to sit by the fire drinking hot chocolate and reading a good book.” Sirius said honestly. He wasn’t wrong. What Sirius had just described was his usual evening routine. He had to think of something compelling to change Sirius’s mind.
“I have every David Bowie vinyl.” He blurted out.
“Really?” Sirius sounded excited now.
“Yeah, yeah, and I don’t know how you feel about T. Rex, but I have all there’s as well, and Led Zeppelin and loads of others.” All he could hear was the slight buzzing from the phones as the line went silent.
“Alright, Remus Lupin, you’ve twisted my leg. You’re the only person who’s called so far that I’ve actually managed to tolerate for more than ten seconds. So, let’s give it a go. When can you move in?” Remus sat there in shock.
“Really? You want me?”
“Sure, why not? The room’s all set up just need to bring some clothes and whatnot. I’ll text you the address, and you can let me know when you want to come. If you find it’s not for you, you can move out whenever you like. That sound okay?” Sirius spoke quickly, but Remus managed to make out all the words.
“Sounds brilliant. I’ll make arrangements and then give you a date.”
“Grand. Oh, and Remus, I really hope it works out.” With that, Sirius hung up, and Remus was left reeling.
“Oh, you’re totally getting murdered.” Pandora, his best friend, snorted when he told her he was moving to London and what the ad had said.
“No, I’m not. Sirius seems really nice.”
“Oh, sweet baby, you are so getting chopped into little bits and placed around London to look like a smiley face or something.” She’d clapped her hands together and jumped up and down on the spot.
“Gee, thanks, Pan. Love the confidence there.” He rolled his eyes and pushed down the panic that her words could actually turn out to be very true.
The bus was packed with holidayers, commuters and everything in between. Remus was glad of his noise-cancelling headphones and his favourite book. In a couple of hours, he’d be starting his new life. Everything he owned was in the compartment under the bus and was surprisingly little.
London was busier than he had ever imagined, coming from a tiny village. The noise and smells were overpowering. He got the tube from Victoria next to the coach station and rode it up to Islington.
He followed Sirius’s directions through a beautiful, tidy neighbourhood. Remus walked past a picturesque park and found the house. Number 12 Grimmauld Place loomed above him. It was far grander than he’d imagined. He walked up the front steps and used the heavy serpentine brass knocker. It thudded loudly against the wooden door. He heard scrabbling on the other side before a heavy lock clunked, and the door swung open to reveal the most beautiful man Remus had ever seen, flipping his long black hair out of his face.
“Remus?!” Sirius exclaimed joyfully. Oh boy, Remus was in trouble. He reached his hand out and shook Sirius’s before following him into the house, closing the heavy door behind him.

one thing i love love love about james/sirius is the potential for city boy/country boy dynamics. james sneaks to london all the time in the holidays to meet sirius and he spends the whole time they're walking around asking "what is that noise/smell/thing?", "who lives there?", "is that the queen?" and sirius is like are you joking or are you actually asking me that??

Travel AU - @wolfstarmicrofic - 698 words
CW : suicide joke, implied past abuse
It was a normal friday night. They had a marauders' gathering, but Prongs and Wormy left quite early, like they tended to do these days. So it was just him and Moony. Sirius couldn't be bothered. They were smoking weed on the windowsill. Sirius always loved Remus' apartment because it was close to the train station, and you could hear and see the trains. Sirius found it soothing.
"Do you ever just watch a train about to leave and think 'what if I get into it' ?" he asked randomly.
They were always having weirdly deep conversations when they smoked together. Sirius loved it.
"Err- not really ?" Remus answered, but it was more a question than anything.
"I used to think that all the time when I was still living with my parents. Anywhere better than there, y'know ?"
Remus nodded and gave him a comforting smile. Just enough to make him know he was listening, not enough to make him feel pressured to say more, or weird for oversharing. Just perfect, like it always was with Remus.
"Well, I mean, it was either that or the urge to jump under the train." he joked.
"Oh my god, Sirius !" Remus said with a startled kind of laugh and wide eyes like he didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or not.
But Sirius chuckled so Remus visibly relaxed and huffed, before turning his gaze out the window. Sirius kept looking at him. The night breeze was softly messing up his curls, and the moonlight made his features look softer than usual. He was even more soothing to look at than the trains.
"Where would you even go?"
"Mh ?" Sirius didn't listen, too enraptured by his observation.
Remus looked at him once again and suddendly, Sirius realized how close they were. Their legs were touching because the windowsill wasn't designed for two grown men to sit on it.
"If you took a train. Where would you go ?"
"Anywhere. That's the good thing. The adventure." he spoke the last part with a wild kind of grin which made Remus smile back. So he felt positively adventurous and didn't stop there.
"You know what ? We should do it. Take a train."
"What ?" Remus asked in disbelief.
But Sirius was on a ride that couldn't be stopped. "Yes ! Just, any train, as soon as there is one."
Remus just laughed. "You're mad. You're actually mad. I don't even know if there's any train leaving London we could take. It's literally two o'clock."
"So ? I don't see what the issue is." And then, making sure to look Remus in the eyes and to pout just a little. "Come on, Moony. Don't you want to go on an adventure with me ? It'd be just you and me."
He saw a furtive glint in Remus' eyes at the last part and knew he won. In fact, his friend took out his phone and seemed to be looking for something on it for a few seconds. Sirius was hooked on whatever he was going to say next.
"There is only one train with seats available. It takes off at 6 and goes to some random ass village in Scotland."
Sirius leaned forward, closer to Remus, and whispered, "Let's take it". Remus smiled and whispered back, "Okay, Pads. Let's do it."
After that, Sirius' smile couldn't be larger. He took a drag and blowed the smoke in Remus' face, who swatted at him. That was going to be a good trip.
That's how, four hours later, they found themselves on an old train, ready to leave for Scotland. The seats were rather small so their thighs were touching. Neither were making any effort to keep them apart. They hadn't slept so Sirius was dozing off on Remus' shoulder. In his sleepy and drug clouded mind, everything was perfect.
"Dear travelers, welcome aboard this train to Hogsmeade station, Scotland."

Wolfstar Micro Fic - @wolfstarmicrofic prompt: Travel - 293 words
“I don’t think I can cope without you.”
Remus hums, kissing the top of Sirius’ head. “You’ll have James to keep you company.”
“It’s not the same,” Sirius mumbles into Remus' shoulder. The scratchy wool of his jumper itches his nose, but he can’t bear to move, not when it smells like Remus - musky vanilla mixed with the lingering scent of freshly mown grass from where they were lounging about in the garden. It invades every breath, wrapping around his mind like tendrils. He wants to stay like this forever, wrapped up in each other's arms in the dusky summer evening.
The automated announcement voice calls out, echoing along the platform. 'The train now approaching platform 2 is the 20:55 service to London Paddington via Cardiff Central.' It’s the moment he’s been dreading all day - all week even - the inevitable heartbreaking goodbye.
Remus pulls away ever so slightly so he can push their foreheads together, noses bumping and lips a breath apart. “Call me when you get home,” he murmurs as he holds Sirius’ face with those strong callous hands.
Sirius clings onto Remus' wrists, anchoring himself for the few remaining minutes they have. “It won’t be until almost midnight.”
“I don’t care, I won’t sleep until I hear you.”
Sirius smiles sadly, tilts his head just enough to press a soft, sad kiss to Remus’ lips as the train comes thundering into the station. “Come visit me soon?”
“The second I can, I’ll be there.”
They stay like that until the last moment - until the conductor pointedly blows the whistle in their direction.
Remus' hand slips from his grip as he steps aboard.
At four minutes to nine, Sirius presses his face to the window and watches the platform slip away.

Sorry for not posting lately.
I didn't have much ideas to share PLUS I've been to London. For the very first time.
Not only did I find a metal plate with iconic quote "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" but also a ring with moon, stars, and the sun, a necklace with wolf and a moon stone AND a starry earrings.
I AM LIVING MY MARAUDERS DREAM YOU GUYS.
Anyway, I will try to come up with some ideas for our sweet gay wizards content and share it with you asap.
Sincerely,
Moon

"and you say i abandoned the ship but i was going down with it" is so sirius thinking remus is the spy but still loving him and being torn apart because he is not ready to let him go or actually do anything about his suspicions so instead it just eats him alive and remus notices him pulling away but theyre still together theyre still in love and remus is "holding tight to his quiet resentment" and all of their "friends said it isnt right to be scared every day of a love affair" and neither of them are sure is the other wants to be there
