I'm in depth watching Teen Wolf and I love Scott don't get me wrong but he needs to get over his little savior complex. I'm on s2 e3 and I know Derek isn't the best Alpha but he's told Boyd, Erica and Isaac the pros and cons of getting turned and they made their choice. Scott should respect that.

Nana Morri and The Matron of Ravens

So we’ve all already seen the similarities between Nana Morri and The Morrigan from Irish Celtic Mythology. I only know a smidge about this goddess, so I wanted to do a bit more reading on her, mostly so I’d feel fully informed for when we get to see her more next week. Upon my first search of her and scrolling through images to get a sense of visuals, I can’t stop thinking of the Matron of Ravens.

“The Morrígan was an Irish goddess of death, destiny, and battle. A trio of sisters who could take the form of a single goddess, she was the keeper of fate and a purveyor of prophecy.” (from Mythopedia here)

So The Morrigan is a shapeshifter; she can appear as three individual sisters who can act independently or appear as one goddess. She commonly takes the form of a crow/raven, a young maiden, or an old woman.

This will sound wild, but what if Nana Morri, who has two faces and two voices, and the Matron of Ravens are altogether an Exandrian version of The Morrigan?

Could Nana Morri and the Matron somehow be the same goddess but in split bodies and across different planes? Sure it may not make a ton of sense, especially rules-wise, but the Matron is a god, after all.

This could tie into Morrighan Ferus’s destruction of the Matron of Ravens bust in EXU Kymal.

The Morrigan is also known for foretelling doom, death, or victory in a battle. The Matron of Ravens foresaw the Calamity and the destruction it would rain down.

We know the Matron was a high-level Wizard who developed “rites” to ascend into godhood. What if she had cast the 8th level necromancy spell, Clone, before she performed these rites as like a failsafe? Did the Matron retain her mortal soul when she ascended? Or did her soul still return to the clone? Maybe her soul split? What if that clone became the Hag we know as Morrigan Calloway, The Fatestitcher? It’s a wild thought, I know. But it’s a fun thought nonetheless.

Idk how to fully explain my thought process, and it’s a super wild theory, but still. I feel like there’s more to explore here, but I will wait until we know more about Nana Morri next week to keep digging.

friend and I have been talking about the concept of an alternate timeline where they didn’t kill off mine and instead, while laying low and trying to unlearn being Evil basically, as both penance for his actions and as a tojo-mandated involuntary vacation, he’s sent to okinawa (with some sort of supervision, of course) to work for morning glory. ie; mr. orphan hater has to help babysit orphans to pay for his orphan-related crimes and hopefully learn something in the process. shenanigans ensue.

#this concept is hilarious and deserves a whole comic dedicated to it #I have so many ideas #like first of all mine wouldn’t even understand the concept of a vacation #daigo would tell him to chill out and relax and he’d just stand there like. uh. October this year has felt kind of vague and adrift for me, no real festive spirit to speak of--or at least nowhere near how last year felt, when it was Year of the Vampire and all.

BUT I am remedying that now with a combined pincer attack of 1) relistening to Night Vale from the beginning on my commute to work and 2) rereading Warm Bodies on my breaks/in my spare time. Things are getting increasingly spooky up in here

#consider this a heartfelt rec for both of the series mentioned #for anyone who might not know: Welcome to Night Vale is a fiction podcast in the form of a community radio show #the host of the show gives news and commentary on the happenings in a small desert town #... a small town that's regularly besieged by cosmic horrors and shadowy government agencies and various other monsters and phenomena #it's extremely chill and relaxing! which is funny to say because it sounds like a joke but it's actually true.#the residents of the town are used to all of this strangeness so it's described in the same tone as the results of the schoolboard election #seriously even ten years later this podcast has me giggling like a maniac every few minutes #it's very funny and heartfelt despite ostensibly being horror themed #and as for the other series--Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion is SUUUUCH an underrated book series #the tl;dr is it's a zombie-human love story #there was a movie based on the first book several years back and it was pretty good imo #it plays up the romcom aspect a lot. which is fair but not EXACTLY accurate to the book. as you might imagine lol #the actual book though??? god I'm only two chapters in on my re-read and I had underestimated how much I love the way this protag thinks #it is HEAVY on philosophical discussion and even digs into some societal/political issues later on #and the supernatural/sci-fi worldbuilding is so incredible that tbh I can barely take any other type of zombies seriously after reading thi #it's just. it's good. check it out if you're not afraid of a little gore in your star-crossed romance #(I'd say more but I don't want to spoil the end of the first book! it's a fairly predictable twist but it still feels so good)
