Are Tim and Cass Cain actually close in canon? Or is that more of a fanon thing that gained canon status?
Alright, so the tldr answer is that yes pre-reboot they were close—but it wasn't something that happened immediately/right off the bat, it took time, and they didn't always perfectly see eye-to-eye. But like, it's not just some totally fanon thing, they were absolutely close.
I'm using past-tense in the above though because it's like... all the actual content with them becoming/being close is pre-reboot. Anything post-reboot with them either had them back at square one (during N52 stuff) or like, just sort of handwavey 'oh they're close again' without much actual elaboration/explanation. Theoretically nowadays everything's canon again so all the old stuff applies, but as far as I'm aware nothing has really dug all that deep back into the two of them/their dynamic.
Now, to give a brief crash course on Tim & Cass's relationship in canon...
Early on they weren’t all that close because Tim was absolutely intimidated by her & her background and like, in general seemed to just find her kinda off-putting:
Tumblr media
(Robin (1993) #73)
However Tim eventually gets over himself & after working side-by-side with her a little bit realizes he shouldn't let being intimidated by her stop them from being friends and working together:
Tumblr media
(Batgirl (2000) #18)
After this point they work together on several occasions, definitely communicating much better than in their initial appearances together and clearly getting along well. They're a fun lil duo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Superman/Batman Vol. 1 #5, Superboy Vol. 4 #85)
Then… after a while, War Games happens. Gotham goes to shit, Steph dies (well, we nowadays know she didn't really, but they sure were both grieving) and so they both independently move to Blüdhaven, which leads us to the Robin/Batgirl: Fresh Blood crossover. Which has some fun little moments with them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Batgirl (2000) #58)
As well as some on the more tense side, as they both navigate mourning Steph and the clashes in their ideologies/approaches to hero work—the fact that Cass wants to be & be like Batman, and the fact that Tim absolutely does not:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Batgirl (2000) #59)
After the crossover they mostly do their own thing staying out of each other's ways in Blüdhaven—though they do get another little story together in this timeframe in Batman Allies: Secret Files & Origins that sort of rehashes the above conflict during some training together & a team-up.
And we DO also get the cute (and oft-mentioned by the fandom) moment where Tim mentions she frequently breaks into his house to shower & steal rice krispies (just for clarity sake, while fandom almost exclusively calls her 'Cass' largely to avoid confusion with Cassandra 'Cassie' Sandsmark, within the comics themselves both Cassandras get called 'Cass' and 'Cassie' at various points—considering Cass is the one who lives in the same city as Tim at this point in canon, that's definitely who he's talking about here)
Tumblr media
(Robin (1993) #138)
So like, at this point they are absolutely comfortable with one another and pretty close, but just, they don't see eye-to-eye on everything so it's not some flawless friendship (and I say friendship specifically because at this point we're still a few years out from them actually becoming siblings). But it's absolutely an interesting dynamic!
Then… after Infinite Crisis we get to the One Year Later/OYL era which is... bad for Cass. Terrible horrible character assassination we all refer to as the 'Evil Cass arc' which began in Tim's book. I don't wanna pull panels from it because it's just... it's bad!!!!!!!!!!!! There's a reason it got retconned into Cass having been brainwashed—because it was bad.
I guess the only thing worth bringing up here in relation to Tim & Cass's relationship though (because as mentioned, Cass gets retconned into it having been brainwashing so anything from her in this era is irrelevant/moot) is the fact that Tim was obviously very upset about the whole situation because Cass is someone he cares about and he even says he considers family.
To fast forward through that mess, when we get to the end of it and the 'oh it was brainwashing haha!' retcon, Tim was the one to have on hand a counter-serum that could free her from Deathstroke's control:
Tumblr media
(Teen Titans Vol. 3 #44)
Once Cass is no longer forced to be evil and ooc, she gets a little mini at the end of which Bruce formally offers to adopt her (and Tim, who had earlier been adopted by Bruce, is present for this—so from this point on they go from a more general 'we're like family' to actually 'we are adopted siblings').
Buuuut then Final Crisis & Battle for the Cowl both occur and Cass gets extremely pushed aside by DC, giving up the Batgirl mantle to Steph and heading off to Hong Kong.
At which point we find out that Tim & Cass have actually kept in contact (just... off-panel) during this time when she's been out of Gotham and he's been off doing all sorts of stuff:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Red Robin #17)
When they see each other in person again, Tim urges her to be a Bat again. Maybe not Batgirl if that's not what she wants, but to wear the symbol and be part of the family. (Which she does take him up on, keeping the suit he brought her and becoming Black Bat).
She pops up again at the end of Red Robin to save Tim & also help him pull off a fake assassination attempt on himself—ya know standard stuff.
And then right before the reboot we get to see them working alongside Damian and Dick in Gates of Gotham, and see one final time that yeah—these two have kept in touch after everything, and are definitely far more on one another's wavelength nowadays than they were back in the 'fresh out of War Games' era:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Batman: Gates of Gotham #2, #5)
So like, does fanon over exaggerate them and their relationship? Aaaaabsolutely—that’s what fanon does. But they did definitely become close after everything they went through and had a fun dynamic together!
Sadly though, as I mentioned at the start of the post, the n52 wiped everything back to a clean slate. And while nowadays post-Infinite Frontier everyone’s histories have been restored their dynamic has never really been the same again.

I am so happy that you make a continuation for christmas story!
This gifts from last episode for nice and naughty... I am not sure who is who in this ineffable duo 🫠🫠🫠
What do you enjoy most from the last season? What's your hope for third one?
With warm (digital) cacao ☕🤍🖤
I'm happy as well. Couldn't just let the comic end like that. But I also don't wanted it as a part of the main story. As you may noticed the sequel is more offensive in terms of their romantic relationship. That's why I wanted to give readers who are less into it the chance to finish with the main story.
Well the thing with the gifts... it's like the shades of grey xD. Not really bad and not really good. But crowley and aziraphale are certainly sure which property is the only one that can belong to them. Even if this is not always the case😉
My favourite part was the clip from 1941. The whole atmosphere was so great.
For season 3 I hope for a lot of fluff, a fantastic kiss and a happy ending❤️
Thank you so much 🫶

The Lost Titans in Canon: Jason and Rose
I already talked about Jason and Eddie's canon friendship, so next up, I want to talk about Jason and Rose. They're an interesting duo, actually, because even though they have appeared in far more comics together than Jason and Eddie, a lot of them take place in Elseworlds, or timelines that are in questionable continuity these days. It's only in the past couple of years that this relationship has really picked up the pace - and to a certain extent, only in the past couple of days.
Jason and Rose first interacted in Red Hood and the Outlaws, the New 52 volume. Rose turns up hunting the Outlaws, and it's revealed that she and Jason have a sexual past. Because it's RHATO, she's of course written appallingly out of character:
Tumblr media
Awful.
The very next issue, the book is canceled. Jason and Rose walk off together, but when we next see Jason in Red Hood/Arsenal like four seconds later, Rose is nowhere in sight.
Anyway, this history and interaction are...let's say in dubious continuity. Rose's appearance here barely jives with anything else she did in the DCU (most of which was also written incoherently by Lobdell), and everything about New 52 Rose was instantly retconned out of existence by Rebirth. Then again, you could say the same thing about Jason and Roy.
Ever since, DC has treated Jason and Rose like they have romantic history of some kind, or at least there are references to sexual tension between them, but no one is ever specific about exactly what their history is.
Next up is DCeased: The Unkillables, a miniseries set in the DCeased universe. Jason and Rose actually wind up getting married in this universe, but obviously it's not actually in continuity because it's an AU. Still, they're pretty cute:
Tumblr media
(This ends tragically, of course, because DCeased.)
Speaking of AUs, we also saw these two together in Future State, a possible dystopian future. They are definitely sleeping together, but while Rose spends most of her time making double entendres, Jason is distant and brooding, until she gets pissed off:
Tumblr media
Still, she shows up later to rescue him, and they actually manage to end that AU together and alive (for now):
Tumblr media
Okay, so much for AUs and potentially retconned-away interactions. What about the in continuity stuff?
Well, this single panel happened during Dark Nights: Death Metal: The Last Stories of the DC Universe, which was sort of the transitional event between the end of Rebirth and completely rolling back the remnants of the New 52:
Tumblr media
Is it still in continuity? Do any of the characters remember it? I HAVE NO IDEA.
Next is Robin, when Rose tells Jason that Damian has entered the assassin tournament on Lazarus Island, and the former Robins show up to try to stop him. Rose and Jason don't interact directly, but we do get this:
Tumblr media
Great question, Damian! NO ONE KNOWS.
Rose and Jason FINALLY interact ONE HUNDRED PERCENT IN CURRENT CONTINUITY FOR SURE in The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing, when she rescues him from a police van and they both look ridiculously hot about it:
Tumblr media
I'm assuming she's calling him "lover boy" because they've hooked up, but if you've read any of my work you know I'm a Jason Todd Secret Virgin truther, so I'm choosing to read it ambiguously. I'm also choosing to read her last line as her having the hots for Steph. (Rose, like me, prefers Naughty Robins only.) Anyway, she's been roped into the plot of this book, but it's still ongoing so who knows how it'll resolve. (Spoiler: not with Jason successfully killing the Joker!)
That was going to be my whole list when I started this post, but then Batman/Catwoman: Gotham War: Red Hood #2 came out, and who should show up but Rose!
Tumblr media
We've seen this dynamic from them before: Rose cracks sex jokes, Jason is stoic and terse and Focused On The Mission. I'm of two minds about this - it's fun to read, and Rose does tend to make bawdy jokes (she did grow up in a brothel, after all), whereas Jason ranges from stoic to equally sassy depending on who's writing him, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's out of character for either of them. It's more that Rose is always depicted as the one pursuing Jason, whereas he has Important Manly Things to think about instead. (See also: Bruce and Selina, Bruce and Talia, Bruce and any woman, any man in comics and any woman.) Just because it's not technically OOC doesn't mean it doesn't overlap into a sexist trope.
(I kind of love the idea that she is literally only doing it because she knows it embarrasses him and he is Focusing On The Mission to hide his blush and they both know they aren't going to fuck, but that's a personal headcanon and not really the Occam's Razor interpretation of these scenes, which are definitely meant to imply that they are banging.)
What I did find interesting about this issue is that it's the first one in continuity to show genuine concern and affection between the characters:
Tumblr media
Do I think Rose would ever stand with her toes together like that past the age of 12? No. But this is still very touching.
Anyway, JayRose is one of those pairings that I don't ship but am perfectly fine seeing unfold in canon. I totally get why DC would pair them, I totally get what they would see in each other, I think it will all end in disaster but that can be fun to watch. It'll be interesting to see if DC commits to actually telling an in-continuity story with these two, or if they will forever be restricted to her showing up and making a dick joke that Jason will ignore because of how he's sad inside. Time will tell!

Okay, so while I do loathe the tendency of DC to become completely centered around just the Bats and Kryptonians; I do love when a strong dynamic between two of them is formed and becomes a core part of how fans view the characters. Not just shipping, but that too.
Like... We have the classic chums, Bruce and Clark, constantly steeped in homoromantic tension, regardless of how little DC want to admit it, but also from that closeness we got Nightwing: a hero raised by Batman but more interested in being a part of his "uncle" Superman's legacy.
Then, when Kal-El's estranged cousin and Batman's commissioner friend's daughter meet, Supergirl and Batgirl form a recurring duo that for awhile was just as shippable if not more so than Clark and Bruce. (And tbh it's kinda a shame that we rarely see Kara and Babs hanging out during Oracle storylines)
And after the deaths of Jason Todd and Superman, two unlikely teens stepped in to try to fill those roles before either could pull their rendition of a phoenix rising from the ashes: Tim Drake and Kon-El: the Robin that found Batman and the clone that would be Superman. Both struggling with who they wanted to be and who they were expected to be at birth, but united by that with a team of similar young people that wanted to just be themselves. (And possibly the most shippable duo in the whole lineup)
Later into their lives, both heroes found themselves with sons. One by choice, the other by circumstances out of his control. These sons were Jon Kent and Damian Wayne: the first naturally born half-Kryptonian/half-human eager to get into the heroing whist his parents desperately try to make sure he gets to just be a kid, and an assassin trained from birth that chose his father's kinder mantle over his grandfather's castle built on bones. Both stuck between halves and initially stuck together because of who their parents were. Despite their differences, or possibly because of them, they each found the other to be a kindred spirit, and grew to be inseparable friends with so much potential between them that their respective families basically dread the two of them without supervision. (Tho arguably they were more primed to work well together than Damian would like to admit, as Dick Grayson, then former Nightwing, had been the Batman to his Robin and his surrogate father figure for much more of his early hero days than Bruce had.)
And then, after many a death, rebirth, reboot and retcon, we find two cast-off members of these families... Jason Todd: an anomaly caused by a fracturing multiverse, his past even more a patchwork after that multiverse rebooted and then again when his found family of Outlaws regained their previous timeline friends and memories; and the third Bizarro of post-Flashpoint Earth One: fated to follow in some of the footsteps of Bizarro No. 1(the third Bizarro pre-Flashpoint) but cast aside for not being the same as the second Bizarro of his own timeline, who sacrificed himself to save it. Brought together thru meddling by Lex Luthor along with Artemis, an Amazon who'd also been uprooted from her past's continuity, they became like family; Jason and Artemis helping Bizarro to find who he wanted to be for himself and all finding some semblance of peace in a world that accepted none of them with open arms.
(Yes, I could get into Diana, Donna and Cassie's wonderful dynamics with their respective Bats and Kryptonians, but they're not as integral to the meeting and dynamics of the others, and the WW family isn't as frustratingly all consuming of the DC comic lineups)

Omfg he IS Daffy. Like. If we want to get into specifics…Wade’s entire life is that episode where Daffy keeps trying to play out the scene and the “animator” keeps drawing new ways to fuck up the scene. And after you’re certain Daffy has lost the tiny semblance of the sanity he had left, you pan out and it’s just Bugs in the animation studio closing the book on Daffy.
Oh man that tracks on so many levels. Especially the power exchange when Peter takes on the Daffy role and Wade gets to be Bugs. Even down to how Bugs dresses in drag, typically leaving Daffy to fend for himself in terms of the antagonist. When Wade dresses in drag or even simply wears a dress, even when Peter enjoys it he’s usually left to fend for himself against his biggest foe: his gender and sexuality.
Now I have to know…do you think Peter can get to a point where he’s taking up the Bugs role from time to time, or is he an eternal Daffy?
P.S.: Daffy is my FAVORITE.
i LOVE daffy, he's one of my favourite characters in fiction ever. and i've always said it, wade is very daffy duck coded.
Tumblr media
wise guy ✅ funny way of talkin' ✅ ability to break the fourth wall ✅ tortured by the narrator ✅ mad about it ✅
even the kind of performative humour that's signature to looney tunes is hardwired into wade. the way he talks in early comics - even his debut series every issue is themed to ducks. i think it's all very intentional he's always meant to have been a looney tunes-esque figure, and that's the way he chooses to perform.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was a looney tunes girlie growing up (my favourite) and watched looney tunes cartoons religiously and so SO much of my humour came from those cartoons and feeds into how i write wade (daffy and bugs are both like, the biggest inspirations for the way i write wade, no doubt. no doubt. i don't even know if i can point to any other characters as inspiration, save for wade himself.)
i'll squeeze in a clip from duck amuck (my favourite piece of media like, ever created ever.) please seek out the whole cartoon if you haven't - i really think it's one of the greatest cartoons ever made.
youtube
bugs and daffy's dynamic (especially in later content of them, where they're cosier and more self-aware) is a huge inspiration too - an odd couple that kind of hates each other because they're always, always diametrically opposed but kind of know each other so well and know each other's BIT so well that when they have each other's interests at heart and work together they are The Ultimate Duo with like, the most fire chemistry you've ever seen. the most unstoppable banter you've ever seen. when they're in a room together, absolutely no one else can get a word in. obsessed with that dynamic.
wade and peter are very bugs and daffy coded but it's dealers choice who gets to be bugs and who gets to be daffy. they're switches. i think it's all about who has the upper hand in the scenario - bugs usually has a confidence in a situation that comes from him knowing something daffy doesn't - (ergo, wade is usually the bugs. because he usually knows something peter doesn't.)
Tumblr media
but... buuuuut, it's not always the case - and wade doesn't always have the upper hand when it comes to his dynamic with peter - particularly when he's feeling emotionally vulnerable. peter can handle those situations better than wade does. those moments, regrettably - happen more often in the fics than on the blog, because it usually happens when their clothes are off. (oops.)
wade's daffy moments happen when he's Not the smartest guy in the room, or things don't work out in his favour or he's not in control of the situation and he's being dramatic about it.
Tumblr media
in those moments, peter gets to be the bugs. the level-headed guy who's in charge of the situation. i hope he gets more moments like that. because it's kind of insane that wade's usually the sane one here. and he needs to be dethroned.
Tumblr media
peter needs more bugs bunny moments - and though i'm not sure when - olive and anita's warring divas dynamic fits the bugs and daffy model with so much more ferocity. they will be dropping pianos on each other. and you can guess who gets to be the bugs.

Season 5 really killed my love for love square, especially with the way the choose Adrien, a kid with massive trauma and depression, as a therapist for his girlfriend. The whole "I want to be everything Marinette want" is bad for Adrien even more so because he doesn't get the same effort from Marinette.
The whole Adrienette is one sided and it remind me of a girl in one yt clip where she basically said she want a man who do everything she want while the man should already be grateful to be chosen as her boyfriend, which means she will do the bare minimum if nothing at all in that relationship.
Marinette isn't that kind of girl but the way the story goes it sure seems like that because Adrien doesn't allowed to bother her, he just continue to serve whatever she needs without her needing to do the same.
People saying that they'll break up and I agree, but also it will take a whole lot of character development for Adrien, something that the writers seems to hate it seems. Even if they argue or have a break up, I doubt it will be last for an episode before Adrien goes back to Marinette and say sorry. That's how Ladynoir conflict solved Kuro Neko after all, with Cat Noir be a bigger person while Ladybug do nothing at all.
Girl power is supposed to be a slogan to empower girls and Marinette supposed to be a role model for the young audience but at this point I don't even want my nieces and nephew to watch this show if what they teach them is that boy should do whatever the girls said and never bother with their girls with their feelings because man should "suck it up" while the girls can do whatever without minding about their man need.
I would actually be surprised if they broke up. Not because it's unearned, they arguably should breakup or at least get some sort of therapy, I just don't think that the writers have the guts to do that.
As you said, a breakup would only work if it led into character growth and they're allergic to doing that in this show in part because of the mandate that every episode must stand alone. That's a fine rule in a monster of the week show where all the drama is sitcom stuff that can be easily solved in 20 minutes, but a terrible rule in a show that's diving into the levels of complexity that Miraculous is trying to pull off. The show's current format is the worst of both worlds: complex plots that lack the complexity to really work and monster-of-the-week battles that feel rushed because they're being squeezed down to make room for the more complex stuff.
Prior to season four, my opinion of Miraculous was that it was a decent show for its indented audience, but there were a few plot points that required serious discussion to explain why they were wrong (for example: the "don't confront liars unless you're doing it for ideologically pure reasons" lesson from Lila's intro). As the show currently stands? I would not willingly introduce it to a young kid for a myriad of reasons. One of those reasons is the fact that the relationship drama we're currently dealing with is suited to a show for teenagers while still having the writing of a show for young children, leading the drama to feel weird and toothless. Yet another worst of both worlds.
All of this is quite sad because Miraculous has such a fantastic setup for being a cute, fun, healthy romance for all ages! It's why I started watching it and the choices made by the people running the show are truly baffling.
They picked a setup that allowed for all of the tension of a love triangle with none of the awkward fallout and then.... decided to introduce two love triangles.
They went with a duo setup to allow the male romantic lead to be mostly comic relief without feeling superfluous and then.... decided to introduce a larger team without establishing anything to make him feel like more than the comic relief.
They picked a setup that allowed for balanced support needs and then.... never let Adrien get any support.
That last one is the thing that really upsets me. When it comes to magical girl shows and their male-focused equivalents, it's somewhat standard for the main character (or main characters) to get all the struggles while the love interest (or love interests) are just there to give comfort and support, leading the love interest to have minimal character development. (Ex: Sailor Moon, Winx club, almost every shonen show ever made, the list goes on)
This isn't necessarily a flaw. You don't want to bloat a story with pointless side conflicts and you can still write a good romance under these conditions. After all, in real life, it's perfectly normal for relationships to go through phases where one person needs more support than the other. As long as it's implied that the love interest has more going on than just being a love interest, you're okay. Not amazing, but okay.
To put it in more concrete terms, if the Prince Dreamy Eyes is ruling the kingdom with his best friends at his side while Princess Sparkle Tutu is stopping the monsters, but the show mostly focuses on the prince supporting the princess and the princess fighting to save the day, that works. The prince is clearly not just arm candy. And maybe the viewers would really like a few one-off episodes about what Dream Eyes does while the Sparkle Tutu isn't around, but this IS a magical girl show so it makes sense that all the "filler" episodes go to the Sparkle Knights and not the Prince and the Dream Team.
This excuse obviously doesn't work for Miraculous because it didn't relegate Adrien to background love interest status. He is a key part of the team, but that's still something you can work around. In team-based shows with a large cast, it's not uncommon for some of the team to just kinda be there to round out the team while one or two main leads get the character growth and personal struggles. This isn't even a flaw as it's arguably better to have more focused drama. If everyone had a sob story, then no one does.
But that excuse doesn't work for Miraculous either because the show is driven by a conflict that's centered around Adrien. A beautifully simple yet powerful conflict that was perfectly tailored for making the relationship between the leads feel balanced.
On the hero side, Ladybug needs all the love and support because everything is riding on her. On the civilian side, Adrien needs all the love and support because he's a sheltered kid whose father is the villain. That allows for a setup where it doesn't feel like either character is nothing more than the love interest. You can make them both complex and flip around the support/supporter roles based on what part of the conflict the story is dealing with in a given moment. It will forever be a tragedy that such a wonderful premise was pulled off this terribly, which is why I say that I'm still a fanon shipper even though canon is dead to me. I love writing and reading takes on this premise that do it right. It's why I got into the fandom in the first place! I'm not really drama to cute romance. I'm drawn to interesting story ideas that feature romance, which is what Miraculous should have been.

Okay so I watched all of Ninjago Dragons Rising s2p2! I've got so many thoughts and I'm dumping them all here in a long list. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
to start: Cole!! He's a family man! He's got a boyfriend and they hold hands and they care for their kids and Bonzle so obviously came out to them and omg I wanted to cry. The joy of acceptance. I mean come one she kept saying how alone she felt, they're found family, she was repeating that she chose he town name and identity and the villains were insistent that she wants a person but just a spell like come on
But there's more than that, I have questions I have concerns!! Like wtf happend on Coles quest?? With Sensei Wu??? Like he disappeared and turned up again and said he would explain but never did.
Cole also came back from that in his bolder form so did he figure out he could do it on his own then? Is that what he learned on his quest?? If so it's gonna be a little awkward when he tried to explain that to his bf Geo.
With part 2 I really want to see the whole gang meet them and talk and catch up on everything. Like cole has been missing since the merge and no one this season cared. At all. They hadn't seen him in ages- didn't even know if he was alive until drs1 but nope no worries or concerns. Not even a question of what he was up to.
When he came through the portal Zane wasn't worried or confused at all, just oh? You need some help?? Sure let's beat these bad guys and not worry or show emotions! Is a tearful reunion for my fav character too much to ask?? Cuz he clearly deserves it. :(
And then into both Zane and Coke this season!! Love them!! They've always been my fav duo (gonna have to start shipping geo/Cole/Zane as poly now) it was so fun to see them going around together with Bonzle. They had some great moments and I'm praying we get more in the next part.
On the other hand it was a shame they got such small roles- just seperated from the others as a way to help Bonzle. It means they didn't have the same lessons or knowledge the others got which is totally unfair!! They have a lot to catch up on. They also never got a chance to be part of the main battle
It's dumb but I was kinda hoping for Cole to show off his stronger powers (he always seems to get new powers every other season but that's a discussion for another day). Like sure he could use his robotic mech suit but that's been done before! He can do his boulder thing now (unless somehow he still thinks he can't which means he kept up that form for several days on his quest) and when he made that giant mid hut to protect his family!! I want to see him do that again! Let me man go ape shit to protect Bonzle.
And on another note, Geo my beloved, you should get a chance to shine with your powers. A chance to show off or at least have a talk about them with Cole.
Next up WyldFyre. I was worried they would make her the annoying comic relief cuz if her injury but her talks about losing loved ones and dragon culture and her home were really sweet and it was great to see some development so driven by battles. I love those too don't get me wrong but like I needed to see this side of her. And I adore her relationship with Kai, being besties/mentors/dad for her works so great for both characters.
I will be first to admit that
Kai wasn't really my favourite. If you couldn't tell I love Cole followed by Zane. Always have and likely always will. I suppose that early Kai reminded me too much of some guys form my class and they turned into shitheads and I've always struggled to reconcile Kai's image form theirs. He was always a little too brash, hotheaded, and too often written as stupid to fall into my good graces.
And yet this season I adored him. Of course I've never hated him but like this season made me see what all his fans (many many fans) see in him.
I thought Kai being the first to master such a new, difficult and crucial skill was incredibly satisfying. Form all the way back to season 1 he's been the butt of jokes- having to learn he's not the centre of the universe and sometimes it's others like Lloyd who are the chosen ones. That's all great but him now getting a starting role, his ability being fueled by thoughts of his family, by his childhood and by protecting is friends was just too good to ignore him. Love this form of his character more than any other I've seen.
And now Kai is trapped :(
I'm glad he's got Bonzle with him tho so hopefully they can have each other's backs (she's meant to be a POWERFUL spell after all) they'll need each other if they're trapped with those other 4 guys. If they can apparently demolish everything then I'm rather worried for the duo. Tbh I'm sure they'll survive just fine, probably making jokes at Cole's expense all the while.
On a side note, I found it super cute how WyldFyre was willing to protect and go down with Kai. Besties I'm telling ya
Now Jay. I've never thought too hard about him I know he's one of the favs of the fandom but like Kai I was never so besotted with him. Still a great guy and omg I feel so bad. One of his worst fears was always being alone and now stuck, confused, forced to hide such a fundamental part of himself.
On the other hand he's got a gun now so that's fun!!
And you can't talk about him without mentioning Nya. He worst fears being him forgetting hurts my soul. And she was so sure it could never be true that she snapped out of her nightmare state!! She's going to break when she finds out.
She's already grieving her own brother, we saw her break down into WyldFyre (more proof she's an honorary sibling by now) but now knowing what's happening with Jay, I'm saying the angst is going to be overpowering. It's a greek tragedy fr
Part 2 is going to be rough. Jay only had a single scene but it's already a sign for the worst to come.
Speaking of things being rough, Lloyd is going THROUGH IT!! give this poor guy a break. I do appreciate that we physically get to see the effects of all his trauma- that everything that's happened has real consequences for his character and the story but I can't help but feel bad.
I've also suffered from anxiety for most of my life so to see it in a character like that feels really personal to me. Hope he gets a little break though, god knows he deserves it.
Have to say it's pretty funny that Lloyd's had so much Oni trauma that he forgot that he's part dragon too. Yes ninjas dragons can do spinjitsu why are you surprised at this point
The animation this season has been incredible, the fights were beautiful the angles so interesting and dynamic and I could go on for hours about how much I love it. It's always great when kids -and even animation in general is treated with respect. It doesn't dumb it's ideas and stories and characters for the sake of it's younger audience, and that makes it so much better for me who is definitely out of the age range.
I have my more points to make but I've been adding stuff in and off for ages so I'll probably go through this all later. Thanks for reading, please I want to know your own thoughts too I love discussing that kinda stuff!!

things I consider canon to my flashlight duo universe:
gregory and Evan move in together when they're adults. evan runs to live with the fazbears as soon as he turns 18 and they go from there. whether it's college or just an apartment
gregory is what introduces Evan to drawing and he loves it. they both keep up with the hobby when they're older as well. gregory likes drawing comics and maybe becomes a graphic novelist and I think Evan would like painting
Evan eventually meets vanessa when hes about 14 and she becomes the older sibling he always wanted. he always felt intimidated by her idea because shes Gregory's actual biological sibling and Evan holds that to a high honor because he wants to be. but they get along and vanessa being there for Evan makes him feel like part of the family even more
Roxy and evan are close. roxy kinda takes Evan under her wing because although its not the same experience because roxy had a support system her whole life, she wants to help him through what she also went through. she helps him learn an outlet to control his emotions more to be more manageable and is a calm shoulder to lean on for evan.
in the event that the bite happens (it doesnt usually), I think after Evan heals and recovers he and bonnie would bond over their scars and bonnie would make him feel better about them
evan meets cassidy later on when hes mellowed out some. I dont think she would have liked him a lot before but when hes healed more and gotten better with his sensitivity they get along pretty good. I think cassidy wouldnt have many friends and probably be considered a troublemaker because of her anger issues and her lashing out and Evan uses what hes learned with his emotions to help her. I'll say they're both teens here
freddy and the other adults wanted nothing more than to march over to the Aftons and declare that they're taking Evan forever but they couldnt. I think that they wanted to actually go through a process of adoption and taking custody but that would have affected Michael too and I'm not sure if they thought it was worth it. especially when Evan says hes alright with the fact that things arent perfect and that he already practically spends his whole life there anyway with how he spends the night.
I imagine william isnt the best cook and Michael probably has other means of getting food on top of not minding eating frozen dinners. but I imagine Evan probably didn't like a lot of foods (hes a kid and also. neurodivergent) and didnt have many things he enjoyed. so I think chica saw this and introduced evan to different foods and tried to help him figure out what he likes so he can eat better and enjoy it at the same time
Gregory and Evan are avid claw machine players
off screen when they're not having a moment with eachother every 5 seconds they play games like roblox and minecraft since they're in the modern day. I think Gregory gave Evan one of his older phones that still worked since he didnt have his own (theres nothing wrong with it, just an older model and maybe a little slow) and he plays on that.
gregory will draw during sleepovers and then give it to Evan to color in. gregory always keeps them and hangs them up or puts them somewhere for safe keeping because Evan doesnt want something to happen to them at his house
gregory hates pickles and Evan loves them
evan is an avid sweater wearer and the Fazbears buy him more when he only has like 1 or 2 and his other clothes are starting to get too small. he keeps sweaters at Gregory's house because he basically lives there already
theres a movie night every saturday while everyone is available at the Fazbears
michael starts to lay off a bit after a little while (think a couple years) just because Evan isnt even around as much for him to terrorize. Michael doesn't like being at home either and since they dont see eachother as much bullying Evan isnt in his minds eye as often. it just doesnt come to mind to do as much at that point
because of genes and chica helping him eat good, evan grows to be taller than Michael
evan experiments with gender later in life as a young adult and is lowkey surprised to learn that Gregory has been transgender this whole time
evan develops huge holiday spirit and for the rest of his days loves to decorate and do holiday-ey things for the season

What’s your favorite Donnie/ Raph dynamic out of all the iterations? Sorry if this question doesn’t make any sense lol
Makes perfect sense, and it has a very easy answer for me:
TMNT 1987 has my fave Donnie-Raph dynamic!
One might think it'd be Rise of the TMNT, but while I do enjoy Raph and Donnie's dynamic in that, and I did create a whole comic with the two of them, it's more of a love of what could be more than what we actually see in the show, because there are very few scenes and episodes in that series where the two of them team up.
In fact, there are very few interactions, scenes, or episodes with the two in most iterations, unfortunately. Despite that, the two remain my favorite duo in TMNT (more on why that is over here). But out of all the iterations, it is in 1987 that we get perhaps the most interactions and team ups between the two of them. And it's not just the amount of time we get to spend with the two of them together, it's also the quality of the interactions, too.
Throughout the series the two are often shown hanging out, tag-teaming in fights and sparring matches, and even teaming up to play pranks on Leonardo and Michelangelo.
There's many moments where they agree with each other or side with each other if there's a disagreement in the group. For instance in "Splinter Vanishes” the team is forced to go their separate ways. Raphael and Donatello disagree with splitting up and want to stick together, even though the others (and Splinter) insist that they do. Then you have Season 8′s “ H.A.V.O.C.” arc, where there's a team of other mutants that seem like allies, and the two of them want to side with the new mutants while Leonardo and Michelangelo are suspicious of them (the mutants end up being antagonists, but this is just another instance where the two have similar opinions and stick together).
They’re just portrayed as being a good team who work well together, despite having rather different personalities.
And that’s another thing that I find interesting about them in this version - how their personalities differ somewhat from other versions and how those personalities bounce off each other in this iteration. I've talked a bit about this, and what I like in regards to how their dynamic is portrayed in another post. But specifically what I find interesting is that in this version, Raphael is actually a lot more cautious and self-preserving, while Donatello is the one who is rash and runs into trouble.
Raphael's personality in the 1987 version is very much a sassy, wise-cracking jokester. He'll definitely egg on a fight that he's confident about and taunt the enemy a lot, but he knows when to back out of a tough situation. Meanwhile, Donatello is very smart and level-headed, but very prideful, and it's that pride that gets him to bite off more than he can chew. In numerous instances he's gotten himself and the others in trouble because he's so sure of his abilities that he doesn't see when things start to go wrong because "he can handle it".
What's cool about these seemingly clashing personalities, is that the two end up grounding each other. Raphael will be the one to point out when Donatello's schemes or inventions may have some downsides. Granted, he does so via sarcastic jabs at Donatello's expense, but nonetheless, he's also there to help out when things inevitably go wrong. And despite his reservations about Donatello's plans, he very often turns to him when things go south. He's very sure of his brother's ability to out-think a situation.
Tumblr media
On the flip side, Donatello will often look to Raphael for comfort or assurance when he is worried or scared. There are lots of instances of him clinging to or hugging Raphael when he's nervous, and it's very sweet (more screenshots over here).
Tumblr media
Overall, I wish there was as much focus on this duo in other iterations, and it's because there's so much content with them in '87 that it makes it one of my faves.
I’ll close out this ramble with a list of a few of my fave Don-Raph episodes from the 1987 series:
Back to the Egg - Michelangelo and Leonardo get shrunk to toddler age, and Donatello and Raphael have to be older brothers to the two younger ones. This is my favorite episode of the whole ‘87 series!
Raphael vs the Volcano - an invention by Donatello makes Raphael think he's dying, so he throws caution to the wind and goes on various heroic escapades. Donatello has to fix his mistake and save Raphael from his own brash actions.
Combat Land - The turtles are invited to test out a new battle-themed amusement park and to fight its robot creations. However, it might just be a scheme to destroy them.
Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter - Leonardo and Michelangelo get kidnapped by a villain who is trying to control mutants, and Raphael and Donatello have to work together to save them.
Thank you so much for giving me an excuse reason to talk about my favorite duo :3

Why I don't like "Wednesday" the new Netflix series
Now, I was really hoping to not have anything negative to say about the new Wednesday series because I absolutely love The Addams Family and I love Tim Burton (bonus points if the music is by Danny Elfman which 98% of the time it is) but there were many problems I had with the series and I'm just going to talk about why.
1: They ruined Wednesday's relationship with her mother
Tumblr media
I don't know about in the comics but in the original show, and the two movies (we do NOT count the abomination of those animated movies that came out recently) but Wednesday was always close with her mother, they complimented each other, and she looked up to Morticia and wanted to be like her. BUT FOR SOME REASON in the show Wednesday all of a sudden, hates (or at least it's shown that way) Morticia and says things like "I am nothing like you" "I don't want to be like you" even down to not having a romantic side like her mother using the same nicknames (like in the movie with the nerd) and I get that she's a teenager, but like that was a big part of her character imo.
2: The parents are godawfully annoying
Tumblr media
They probably did this for the very reason that the show is called Wednesday and it's probably trying to get us to see through Wednesday's p.o.v so she'd find them annoying but like, their love being so sweet and genuine was one of the best parts in the show that was more for the older kids and adults to enjoy, and Wednesday ONLY SHOWED THAT IN THEIR FLASHBACK.
3: The show took away what The Addams were all about
Tumblr media
The Addams were like outcasts to the "Normies" as the show likes to call them. And having Wednesday go to a school where she "fits in" because she really wasn't and outcast to the outcasts no matter what the show tries to trick you, but if she went to a "Normies" school instead of being expelled like in the first episode she could have been the Wednesday that the real Addams Family fans know and love.
4: The didn't even add one of the best characters from the movies
Tumblr media
Joel (if I am getting that right) was such a cute addition to the movie, the dynamic that he had with Wednesday because they were such opposites were the highlights to the movie. He was a nerdy kid that liked to be alone, and she just liked to be alone. But I was pretty disappointed that they didn't choose to add him in and instead had the Coffee shop boy and Painter as love interests (I'm not going to include Wolfgirl since she isn't cannon to liking Wednesday, and she's too fucking annoying for me to handle)
5: Our classic Wednesday & Pugsley duo
Tumblr media
I mean like how could you separate these two? and IK that Wolfgirl could be a (possible) substitute for the absence of Pugsley, but it is very disappointing to not see the duo back at it creeping out other kids and even plotting things against their friends/family but that was definitely a lose
6: They really shouldn't have had Wednesday go to a Walmart version of Monster High
Tumblr media
One of the things that made The Addams Family THE ADDAMS FAMILY was the fact that they were just a family, like others but they were just different. Which is why the lyrics were
"They're creepy and they're kooky Mysterious and spooky They're all together ooky The Addams family
Their house is a museum When people come to see 'em They really are a screaming The Addams family"
And I KNOW that this is just a different adaptation but how can you call it The Addams Family when you basically have her like EVERY OTHER CHARACTER SHE INTERACTS WITH. it just ruined that part, and she should have never been expelled for that piranha incident.
7: I'm not completely on board with the supernatural aspects
Tumblr media
Actually, for this one I'm not really talking about her visions (don't get me wrong that whole aspect was definitely weird at first but I'm talking about Wolfgirl, Siren, Duce, Telekinesis boy, and maybe even painter boy (who I'm pretty sure is just like the nerd but anyways). Because The Addams WEREN'T ABOUT THAT they were about creeping other people out and I get that they had other friends like cousin IT and the kid WHAT but those were just tiny aspects, and they were rarely part of the movies and mostly there for parties. It just makes no sense for there to be a bunch of outcasts for THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Aside from those major things the more problems I have are with the other characters that she interacts with, mostly Wolfgirl that one really annoyed me Siren was more of a disagreement Wednesday had at the beginning but then got along with afterwards and she was pretty interesting.
I didn't entirely like the whole Monster Killer reveal, and how predictable it was or that whole grooming scenario but that whole storyline was more for the plot than anything.
but there are things I did like about the show:
Walmart Duce and Wolfgirls relationship (weather romance or not the puppy love is cute)
I like when they make Wednesday, Wednesday like how she enjoys digging up graves, or doesn't cry, or show affection
I did like the Coffee Shop kid and honestly, I think he needs help from Wednesday. He was after all groomed by that teacher (when I tell you I gaged watched that scene, I mean it) and she did use his mother against him and controlled him until he gave in which is really sad and I want Wednesday to help him
I did like painterboy too, he became pretty stiff afterwards but if they give him more development that'll be nice to see him interact with Wednesday (she seems to care for him at some extent to jump infront of the arrow for him)
I like Siren girl and the Mayors son, I want to see more interactions from them
THAT MORTICIA AND GOMEZ FLASHBACK IS EVERYTHING TO ME IK THAT WHOLE STORY WAS SO FREAKING PREDICTABLE BUT DAMN THE FACT THAT HE GOT ARRESTED FOR HER MADE MY HEART SKIP A BEAT
I did like the sheriff, IK he was an asshole to the Addams at first, but I liked when they finally made amends
Coffee shop kid and Wednesday's first date was pretty cute, but it would be 1000000000000x better with summercamp nerd

I am feeding on the spinaraki but I just had a cold realization that hori might’ve been setting up dabitoga as a duo counterpart this whole time… I am not at all a fan because isn’t toga based off of harley and dabi inspired by joker? The most famous abuser-victim dynamic in comics? That plus the age difference, hori better not imply anything romantic, not even a blossoming crush from toga because that would ruin some things for me
if it makes you feel more at ease i am 150% sure that the narrative isn't setting up a dabitoga duo in any narrative changing way (particularly in the romantic sense), or that any joker & harley quinn parallels that the characters have aren't strong enough or utilized in a way that might indicate a similar dynamic.
i did a quick look to see if there was any official word on whether toga was inspired by harley in any way - didn't find anything, though if someone does have that confirmation let me know. in any case, while i'm most familar with her b:tas incarnation, i wouldn't be surprised if harley was a source of inspiration for the creation of toga. they are blonde, firstly. they got cheerful demeanors belying their internal struggles, they're acrobatic, regarded as crazy by those around them. they are both preoccupied with love, and most importantly are sapphic icons.
but aside from those basic points, toga stands on her own as a character enough that she's more than a possible harley quinn expy, and further comparisons fall apart under scrutiny.
toga is a teenager vs harley having been an adult professional.
harley's turn into villainy is generally instigated by her relationship with the joker and the intimacy he promises her (idk about every incarnation but that's the backstory i'm familiar with) while toga's is instigated by wider societal attitudes and quirk-based urges she lacks support to deal with.
both characters in some way seek validation and understanding in their pursuit of love, but harley is trapped in her relationship with the joker because of the intimacy he promises her between the abuse, the way he makes her feel special and worthless in turns, and she twists herself around for his approval. in contrast, toga's crush on ochaco and deku is strongly characterized by her trying to get them to meet her on her level, wants to be loved as is without changing herself for their approval.
so there's similarities between the characters, but toga's plotline is very much her own, not a riff on or or commentary about harley quinn. that's all toga babeyyyyyyy
dabi very decisively i will say is not inspired by the joker. mostly because when i searched to see if there was any official word on that, all i got was a bunch of articles claiming that "dabi's dance" was an homage to that joker dance from that joker movie which joker happened. which i always felt was really, really weak and predicated on knowing that horikoshi obviously knows who the joker is, as a comics fan. dabi's too janky and excitable to be the be the slow and methodical bathroom dance, not coordinated enough for the stairway scene, and none of his movies just really line up to anything joker does? like the connection just seems to be "has danced and is also a villain".
i've also seen people reference this art he did as anime promo as a dabi-joker reference, but i think dabi wearing a raggedy suit isn't like. super joker core of him. again the connection is just like. "wore a suit and is also a villain".
there's just not much in terms of dabi's history, ideology, or motivations that matches up with any particularly iconic joker characterization or lore. dabi is pretty well defined, whereas joker has existed for a gazillion years in so many incarnations that him having a multiple choice past is actually a valuable part of his characterization in a few versions.
interestingly, there are some characters that fare better as potentially joker inspired.
twice in a way that is very much iconic gets the "all it takes is one bad day" theme established by the killing joke in reference to his backstory in MVA; he and toga (in another harley shout out for her) had the inside cover of Volume 16 resemble a popular harley quinn & joker cover. but again, twice's reaction to his bad day was overall different from the joker, and his relationship with toga is drastically different from joker & harley.
redestro when first introduced got a lot of joker comparisons for his appearance, animated physicality, and a bit of flair for showmanship. but again in reality he is very different from the joker in terms of his ideology and goals.
i guess you can say that shigaraki shares a lot of the nihilism that joker often gets characterized with? but again. that's about it lmao.
basically, i think you can see bits and pieces of the joker in parts of bnha, but bnha does not have a joker, if that makes sense.
i also don't think that dabi & toga, while they do have a dynamic that gets a lil highlight in the last arc, it isn't really prominent or a driving force for either character. dabi's motivations are always primarily going to be tied to his family; toga was already in Thee Iconic Duo with twice, and since then a lot of her narrative motion has been tied into ochaco.
prior to the third act, their relationship was mostly dabi calling her crazy while she was normal and polite at him. there's stuff to work with, but honestly not a lot there if someone wants to make dabi and toga Significant.
when i get really excited about spinaraki as a duo and their narrative potential, it's because spinner's characterization for almost 200 chapters (WHOA) has been distinguished by shigaraki inspiring him and spinner growing to care about him, and it's emphasized in every appearance from mva onwards. for spinner, his relationship with shigaraki is a driving part of his narrative.
with shigaraki, his feelings about the league were much more idk spread out, though his most prominent dynamic up to the point of mva had been with toga and twice during the yakuza arc - and then frustratingly since mva his feelings about the league are skirted around and avoided. up until NOW in 411 with a SPINNER MENTION that is EXPLICITLY TIED into what spinner had been so awed by in mva, that gotdamn horizon babes, which still may not necessarily pay off with further insight into shigaraki's thoughts about spinner and the league but i hope will pay off in a way that i can say. Spinaraki Real.
anyways really long way to say that i wouldn't worry about it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 i will protect you from this possibility.

I had so much fun with the first Birds of Prey issue. Like seriously, I like all my pulls but I got to the end of this one and was mad that it wasn't longer because I wanted more, and I don't often feel that way about a comic.
Spoilers ahead!
The Art
The art kind of reminded me of old school comics which was really cool, but at the same time it had a more modern feel, which I think was due to the colors. I really like the art in this comic, the previews looked cool and the actual comic didn't disappoint.
Tumblr media
I swear this panel feels like it could have come from a Batman comic in the eighties, which I like, since that's what I read a lot of, but also it's a little different and fresh, which I also like because it's fun and new to me.
I love the way the characters are shaped. They are all drawn like solid, sturdy people. Out of the five, Harley and Dinah have the most revealing costumes (Dinah wears fishnets, and Harley has a crop top), but none of their costumes have that sexualized feel to them. I'm very used to reading pre-Flashpoint comics and wow the women's costumes are revealing. Which is not a bad thing, I suppose, but it does feel very distinct to me then when costumes aren't.
The panels are fun. I have a tendency to focus more on dialogue than on art (which I've been working on not doing), especially when pages have a lot going on, but I didn't have that trouble here. The panels were very clean and easy for me to follow, but they weren't boring either. I loved the spread of Cass and Dinah fighting the assassins, and the page of Cass and Barda fighting the vampire guys (I have more to say later about Barda and Cass!)
Finally, the colors! Which I love! They're very crisp and bold and so pretty! I really really really liked them. In case you couldn't tell.
(Also, if there are any trans Cass truthers out there, they're going to love this panel. I'm not one but I'm sure somewhere out there, there's someone who's going to go, 'trans flag colors on a Cassandra Cain panel?!?!' and have a really great day.)
Tumblr media
Characters and Story
First we have Dinah Lance (Black Canary), who is assembling a team to rescue her sister, Sin.
Then we have Cassandra Cain (Batgirl), who immediately agrees to join Dinah's team to help Sin.
Next is Big Barda, who also agrees to join Dinah's team to help Sin.
Dinah calls in a favor from Lady Zannah (Zealot) to get her to join the team.
And finally, Cass suggests Harley Quinn for their fifth member, and when she finds out it's to help save a teenager, she agrees.
Tumblr media
Story
So! What I liked, and what I didn't.
I loved Cass and Big Barda's interactions. Big Barda immediately respects Cass's abilities as a fighter. When she tells Cass she isn't good at telling stories, she follows it up with reassurance of her other strengths. And Big Barda calls her 'small bat' and 'little bat' which is so sweet and adorable and I want them to be friends.
When I saw the announcement that Harley was going to in this comic, I wasn't surprised, and I was uncertain how well that would work. Harley is a big moneymaker right now, which is why she seems to be popping up in everything. I'm hesitant, but I think she could be written well and we'll just have to wait and see. I liked that Cass suggested her because of her unpredictable nature and I'm curious to see where that goes. I'd like to see more Cass and Harley interactions because I think they could be a really fun and interesting duo.
I didn't like that they didn't tell us why Dinah can't bring in Barbara on this. I have a sneaking suspicion that they're going to build up to the 'why' and it's going to be for a stupid reason and then I'll be disappointed. I'm crossing my fingers my hunch is wrong.
Finally, I'm uncertain how I feel about the whole Dinah-Harley dynamic. Dinah wrote off Harley pretty quick, but she let Harley on the team anyway. I wonder how that dynamic is going to play out in the future.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
I'm excited! I think this is going to be a fun comic, I'm excited to see what happens next, and I think people should read it
Tumblr media
Now to wait for the next issue... *sigh*

about the character info thing, could you possibly do it for Ultimate Imposter? i adore them and i don't see them getting talked about a lot-
Hi ho, silver! I certainly can. A while back, I wrote a story starring the Imposter for the zine Everybody Loves Hajime. It's still in the works, and I'll post updates when a release date is announced! In the meantime, have this.
Sexuality Headcanon: My headcanon is that it doesn’t really matter to them. When an imposter embodies someone's traits, that must include the ones related to sexuality. One can only reach Ultimate level if they can flawlessly adapt to any sexual interests and proclivities relevant to their task. I assume this must mean that Imposter is neither picky nor squeamish.
Gender Headcanon: The Ultimate Imposter sneers at your limited conceptions of gender! When any identity is as easy to don, cast off, and exchange as a set of clothes, gender is more a shorthand, convenient only for narrowing down options and otherwise rather meaningless.
A ship I have with said character: I'm a diehard for tsumioda, and I still gotta hand it to twobuki as a goodass ship. There's the straight/silly comedy duo thing they've got going on, sure, but Ibuki's enthusiastic admiration of Imposter's take-charge attitude during a crisis and Imposter's surprised delight at Ibuki’s good-natured teasing truly enriches both characters. Two things they share: caring a whole lot about other people, and showing that care with little schemes. Most intriguing is one way in which they contrast: Ibuki can't be anyone but herself, and Imposter can be anyone but themself. Who better to help discover the real person at the Imposter's core than the realest person in the gang? All that from fewer than one chapter's worth of interactions! I deeply wish we could've seen their relationship explored more.
A BROTP I have with said character: Then again, maybe Imposter is totally at peace and content with their mutable identity. You know who could use a friend with that kind of insight? Hajime. It's like ... ah, but I already have a whole story about that. Really, check out Everybody Loves Hajime when it comes out!
A NOTP I have with said character: I don't have that many NOTPs in general, and I can't think of any for Imposter! Even Teruteru isn't out of the question for me after what drawbauchery's Bus AU comics have done with the breakout pairing. Imposter's a good egg and anyone would be lucky to date them.
A random headcanon: The notion that they like fast food because it's one of the few things that are consistent wherever they go makes a lot of sense, but I also like the idea that the real Byakuya Togami is secretly a fiend for a greasy cheeseburger. The real hc is that Imposter's sense of humor includes playing up aspects of someone's personality that they want to keep secret ... or may not even realize about themself!
General Opinion over said character: It's frankly incredible that the creators of SDR2 came up with the idea of an Ultimate Imposter, plunged them into the paranoid environment of a killing game, made them pose as one of the most notorious characters from the previous game ... and killed them off before that secret could even matter! When it's brought up in like Chapter 5, it means nothing!! If I don't praise Imposter often enough, it's only because I wish I knew them better.

Pluckyredhead, what would you like to see if Roy got a mini comic run again? I want to see him banter w Kyle again for a bit but also run around w Lian as a duo
I would love to see him hanging out with Kyle! In general I'd love to see him reconnecting with people he's close to outside of the Arrowfamily: Kyle, Grant, his Outsiders team. I'm on the fence about the Titans since he's interacted with them slightly more in recent years, but even that has been very little interaction and all of it poorly written (Teen Titans Academy, my beloathed), and the current Titans run hasn't even acknowledged he exists. So sure, the Titans, too.
Lian being his whole world is a must, of course. And me being me, I'd self-indulgently like some significant Jason action. So let's say an issue each devoted to the Arrowfam, the classic Titans, his 90s Titans, the Outsiders, and Jason, with a sixth issue finale and Lian appearing all the way through. That works for me.

Embarrassment (platonic Joel Miller x reader)
Summary: A strange father-daughter duo gets your attention at a fan signing event.
Note: singer!reader, pre-outbreak / This is the scene I mentioned in You must be new here. / If you want to know when I post new stuff, follow @unreliablesnakefics and hit the get notifications button. I don't have a taglist.
Tumblr media
It was another signing event a day before your concert in Austin. Things went smoothly. You had every kind of fan, from an obsessed teenager through an adult who found herself in your songs straight to a creepy guy who had your face and name on a shirt and started the whole meeting with saying I love you. Sometimes it was too much to handle, but today you were in a strangely good mood.
Your ears picked up a frustrated conversation from the line in front of you. There was a teenage girl standing there with an older man, probably her father, and they argued about something quite heatedly. The girl was on the verge of a breakdown while the man seemed to be pleased with himself. He reached out to pat her head in a comical manner, but she moved out of the way and pushed his hand away.
“Can you just wait outside, please?” she asked loudly.
Several people turned to look at them, which made the girl hang her head and let out a frustrated sigh. The man theatrically thought about this suggestion, a move that drew a smile on your lips, then shook his head. The girl opened her mouth to say something, but she soon changed her mind because she noticed you watching them.
She turned away in embarrassment, and her father looked in your direction to see what made her react like this. When your eyes locked, you couldn’t help but gulp. This man was gorgeous, especially with those big brown eyes of his that were now focused on you. He was exactly your type, but you had to behave. You weren’t here to flirt with hot dads, you were here for the fans.
You cleared your throat and tore your gaze away, finally paying attention to the young guy in front of you. He gave you a nice long speech you had heard a million times before about how your music helped him through heartbreaks, but it was okay, you just had to smile and say a few kind words.
When your new favorite pair reached the table, your lips curled into a genuine smile and you looked back and forth between the two, waiting to see if any of them would start talking. But the girl seemed nervous, the dad was mentally far, far away, so you took it on yourself to break the silence.
“Hello. What’s your name?” you asked the girl. She bit on her lower lip, unable to say anything. “You know, my dad was the same when I was your age,” you told her conspiratorially, your words followed by a wink.
The man suddenly looked at you with a raised eyebrow. “Huh?”
“Really?” the girl asked with a bright smile. Finding out they had something in common with you usually helped to break the ice. “I’m Sarah. Could you sign this for me?”
You nodded with a smile as you took the CD from her and took out the cover to sign it. Out of the corner of your eye you glanced at her father who was staring at you with an amused look on his handsome face. Once you were done, you gave it back to her, but when she wanted to take it, you didn’t let go.
“Listen, I get it, fathers take every opportunity they get to embarrass their children, but it only shows that he loves you,” you told her seriously. “He came here with you, I’m sure he wants to learn what you’re excited about. Look, my dad died two years ago, but if I could go back in time, I would let him follow me everywhere so I could spend more time with him. Think about it, okay?”
She nodded then finally took the CD from you. “Thank you. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow! Bye,” she chimed happily before walking away.
Her father took a deep breath as he watched her, and once she got out of earshot, he leaned closer to you and said, “Thank you. For everything.” He flashed a disarming smile at you and it knocked every thought out of your mind. You just nodded and watched him catch up with his daughter in silence.
You took a sip of water as you tried to pull yourself together, fighting that voice in the back of your mind that told you to go after them. You couldn’t do this. Paparazzi were outside, dying to get a photo they could sell for a small fortune to gossip magazines. Seeing you flirt with him wouldn’t be good for your image.
At least that’s what your manager and publicist would say.

The Savoys - Easygoing & Confident Duo
Let's talk about the Savoys, one Easygoing, one Confident and how they fit into those categories. Spoilers for the comic below.
Though it may be surprising, I'd consider Nico an Easygoing Optimist:
Positive, enthusiastic, and always beaming. He/she/they smiles not only for himself/herself/themselves but to make sure everyone else has a good time too.
I think when Nico is doing the whole boxer act, it's easy to forget the laidback attitude that drives him, and his constant optimism from the start. In his first appearance, he shrugs off Mordecai taking their joke seriously and literally hatching up a man, swiftly moving on when Mordecai prompts him to.
Tumblr media
This is a common trend for all of his appearances. Even when he's fighting, Nico isn't angry so much as he is playful. It's less meanspirited and more taking on a challenge to him along with helping the other two out.
Tumblr media
Throughout the comic and even the pilot he's smiling and having a good time with the thrill of it all, especially when it seems his sister is enjoying herself too.
Tumblr media
Simply put, he takes things as they come and never lets anything get him too down. Nico reveals his easygoing side the most in comparison to his sister. Take the congregation situation for instance. Nico barely says anything, he just smiles while Serafine constantly threatens and calls Mordecai out. He isn't as harsh on Mordecai either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In contrast, Serafine is a Confident Go-Getter:
A determined self-starter. Cuts his/her/their own path in life, and doesn't let anything stand in his/her/their way. Quick at turning plans into action.
I think this one is a little more self explanatory. Serafine does what she wants when she wants to. She wants to use a huge gun to shoot at the enemies? She will. She wants to take purses in the middle of an operation? She will. And she has her own freaking congregation! If that's not being a determined self starter and cutting one's own path I don't know what is.
Tumblr media
Let's go back to the congregation scene, shall we? Serafine set out with a goal to get Mordecai to join the congregation, and she was going to achieve that goal no matter what it took. Even literally carving into Mordecai herself.
Tumblr media
And that's what makes them such a terrifying duo. Nico is too easygoing to stop or even care to stop Serafine's schemes, and their shared, upbeat behavior only fuels the other's philosophy to enjoy life as much as they can. With Serafine's brains and Nico's strength, they're difficult to defeat.
