Khilji-kafur pair
I watched padmavat and felt like allauddin Khilji(Ranveer Singh) and Malik kafur(Jim sarbh) had amazing chemistry with sexual tension which was missing between the main couple. They have some scenes which clearly points at their relationship and khilji's bisexuality, like the hair braiding scene, bath tub scene, binte dil, the introduction of the flute scene, etc
I really didn't expect a historical queer story and went to search about the individuals history and thought their story would make such a good bl.
Even the story of Mahmud and Ayaz , babur and his lover.
I wish we can have historical bl in future as a main story not crumbs.

मजा मा | MAJA MA (2022) dir. Anand Tiwari Pallavi Patel is the quintessential, middle aged, devoted housewife who is equally famous for her dance as she is for her cooking. Her husband, Manohar Patel, is the chairman of the local society, her daughter Tara is getting her PhD in sexuality and gender identity, and her son Tejas, who lives in America, is about to marry into a rich but very strict family. But when Tejas' future in-laws come to visit, the accidental revelation of Pallavi's 30-year-old secret puts both the marriage and the Patel's reputation in danger.

I've seen 15 minutes of Maja Ma and it is painfully accurate. There is me - the older sister fighting for queer rights. And my brother who can't get past his own things. And the dad who knows less than Jon Snow. And the sibling bickering. muah! This is what I call comfortingly Indian

Monkey Man (2024) review
Tumblr media
Reading up about the behind the scenes of this film, I must say this underwent quite the troublesome production. From filming during COVID to Patel breaking his foot during the shoot to the cameras breaking forcing them to film certain scenes on iPhones to Patel’s mother dying…. Honestly talk about pouring your heart and soul into something, eh! Bet Patel was recalling the words of his character Sonny from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - “Everything will be all right in the end... if it's not all right then it's not yet the end.”
Plot: A young man ekes out a meagre living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he's beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, he discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city's sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
It’s hard not to root for Dev Patel. He just seems like such a solid dude, so of course we want him and his little new movie to do well. Naturally Jordan Peele buying the project from Netflix and putting it in theatres is a great way to market it and I’m so happy Patel is getting the recognition for it, as for a while there it did feel like he fell off the face of the Earth. Last time we saw him was in Green Knight that came out in 2021. Wait. 2021? That cannot be right. Green Knight was released 3 years ago??! I’m sorry, I need a minute, as I just realised I’m growing old really really fast. You know who isn’t getting old? Dev Patel apparently as turns out he’s a straight up action star in his thirties! He beats the hell out of a lot of folks in this movie. Like the dude straight up knife kills a goon with his teeth! That’s some John Wick-pencil killing level shiz! Patel doesn’t pull his punches here, and Twitter referring to him as ‘the Indian John Wick’ is very accurate.
That being said Patel not only stars, but is also on writing, producing and directing duties here. This is very much a star-turning moment for him, as he calls for Hollywood and the audience to accept his new image. Again - as the action hero totally believable. From a writing standpoint too he seems to have a lot to say, as Monkey Man is imbued in Indian culture and tradition, as well as a lot of social political commentary, as well as giving a nice nod to the trans community. That being said it does also seem like he has too much to say. As in the movie feels really messy with so many themes and ideas, that especially the first half feels really all over the place and it’s so difficult as a result to connect with anything that’s going on and even so much as care. In the last third the movie does find its groove, however it does take its sweet time to get there.
As a director too Patel definitely takes inspiration from other filmmakers he worked with in the past such as David Lowery, Neil Blomkamp and Danny Boyle, in the way he stylises this movie, and a lot of it does look good. But, and of course there was going to be a but! But there is a lot of shaky cam. Yes ladies and gentlemen, as much as this is the great comeback of Dev Patel, this too happens to be the major return of shaky cam. And unlike Patel, this is an unwelcome one. Like why? Why I ask?? Who the hell was craving the return of shaky cam!? So much of the action in this movie is missed due to the camera frenetically jumping around like a monkey high on cocaine, and in fact not only in the action sequences. Dev Patel also seems obsessed with filming close ups, so much so that 90% of the movie I found myself staring up someone’s hairy nostril. Whilst still in shaky cam mode!! This movie was honestly so dizzying and that very much hindered the overall experience.
All in all this is an ambitious directorial debut for Dev Patel that primarily works as a showcase for his action star potential, whilst when it comes to his directing even though there are a lot of flaws, I believe give the man a few more projects and he’ll be able to create something truly special. Look, everyone needs to start somewhere. Also special shout out to my man Sharlto Copley who’s only in about 5-10 minutes in this movie, yet he brings his usual excitable charismatic South African energy, that he still made me chuckle whenever he did literally anything. The guy’s just amusing to watch. Anyway, Dev Patel keep it up - you’ve definitely got something. However I must say for all the teasing of him being the so-called monkey man, when it came to the final fight he comes wearing the mask, but then takes it off before entering battle mode. Like what the hell? You promise us monkey man so I expect and want to see a man fight in a monkey mask at all times!! Why hast thou forsaken that from me??
Overall score: 5/10

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
kabhi kushi kabhie gham is so fucking gay and I'm tired of pretending its not.
reasons why its gay:
the longing
closeness with family members of the opposite gender
disapproval with family members of the same gender because they view you as their own personal failure
having to leave your family behind for love
the lesbian desperation to hold onto love/ uhauling
shah rukh khan's hair
I'm fully convinced that Johar pulled from his personal life experience or his friends personal life experience for this movie because it feels like he's predicting my life trajectory.
lmk if I'm wrong
be nice about it tho
also lmk if you want to hear more

I don't want dwell too much on the 'Gwen is/isn't trans' controversy because I think there's people far more better at talking about it than me. But even if you think she isn't trans, why do you think the crew included that flag in the movie? And why are you so wound up on this but completely fine with... like... 90% of the rest of the film?
If Miles has a BLM pin on his bag, Hobie "Hate the AM, Hate the PM" Brown has an Archarcy pin on his jacket, and Pavitr's whole Spider-Man design incorporates Indian patterns and stylistisations, then I'd like to think we can apply some critical thinking as to why Gwen has a 'protect trans kids' transgender flag in her bedroom: This is part of her identity.
Of course, it's possible she's just a cis ally, but I can't understand the crew's intentions to include that messaging but not have any explicit trans characters in the film. Because they didn't have to include it. And they especially didn't have to include it in one of the main characters' room. It could've been a mural or a flag somewhere in the city, but it wasn't. It's in her room because trans kids can have trans flag in their room. Especially when they know they're safe in their own homes.
I feel like people always freak out about LGBT+ representation when it's made explicit on-screen, but whenever it's subtle like this, it's looked over and denied. In my opinion, the Spider-verse's Gwen Stacy is a trans girl. And the only reason I can understand why people deny it is because they don't want trans people in their superhero movie.

Hi!
A few words about me and this blog.
[but before we go any further... even though this is a blog dedicated to Voldemort and Harrymort, I don't support Rowling or her views; hate and bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated here.]
I've been a fan of the Harry Potter series since I was a kid, but I've never interacted with the fandom actively - I never created any fanart, posts, fanfics etc., I only consumed and shared them. So, this is my first attempt at sharing my own theories and any other weird little thoughts I may have on the subject.
Even though I am open to different interpretations and opinions, I know that many may not share this view and may not want to follow me because of it (righfully so), so I'm going to write some of my hot (or maybe not so hot) takes that are my primary headcanons and/or interpratations of the text.
I'm not a fan of the movies. I think the changes made in them distort the characters, the plot and the overall story.
I don't believe Voldemort is insane and/or badly written. I may write a charcter analysis based on the books one day when I'll have the time and energy... and if anyone will be interested in reading it, of course.
At the same time I don't think that HP and its characters (including Voldemort) are great and with no faults. I love the concept of the series and the world created, but I will also be the first to critique it and point out its faults.
Lord Voldemort is Lord Voldemort. Confusing, I know. What I mean by that is that I don't like differentiating between Voldemort (the insane bad one) and Tom Riddle (the brilliant good one). Recently, I started to become disconnected from the trend in the fandom of treating Tom Riddle and Voldemort as separate entities. At the same time, I'm not gonna go around telling people to stop characterizing them, or thinking about them, in whatever way they like! It's just something that I became sensitive to and don't subscribe to anymore.
Harrymort is the only pairing I am single-minded about. Any other ship (that doesn't involve Harry or Voldemort) I'm very neutral about.
I am a fan of female Harry, but only because of one particular fic - the Historical Importance of Runic War Warding in the British Isles by samvelg. It's my all-time favourite fanfic, and I have as much, if not more, headcanons and thoughts about this particular HP AU rather than the original HP. (At the same time, I am aware why genderbending is disliked by fandoms, and I do agree that many genderbent stories are not great. Many of them erase the lgbt+ represantation, which is what I am not at all about.)
I don't have a set gender identity headcanon for Harrymort (trans, cis, female, male, nonbinary... they are all very much appreciated).
However, my preferred sexuality headcanon for both Harry and Voldemort is either bisexual, pansexual or asexual.
I am firmly a bi-racial/having Indian ancestry Harry headcanon fan.
Recently I started falling in love with Arabic, and a headcanon of bi-racial/having Arab ancestry Voldemort has began to cristalize in my mind. I've had this thought after reading this one post about how Harry is changed in fics but Voldemort stays almost always the same when it comes to ethnicity/race.
I have plenty of different AU ideas about this pairing (many modelled more as an AU of the Historical Importance AU) and would like to realise them at some point, but I'd like for my first posted work to be an original idea.
The reason I'm creating this account now is because Tomarrymort stories are some of the best I've ever read. No matter how much time passes, I always come back to them. I am a slow-burn hoe (slow burns and long fics are like… 90% of my fanfic consumption), and I appreciate the vast variety of themes and motifs that these stories are capable of getting into.
On a final note, I'd like to make a disclosure.
Any opinions I have are simply that - opinions. I don't think that they are the best or the most accurate or that they should be imposed on other people. Everyone has a right to like whatever they want to like, and to think whatever they want to think, as long as that does not evolve into attacking actual human beings.
It's fiction. It's fun. I appreciate people with different opinions so long as we stay mature and respectful to each other about exchanging them.

A pioneer of Bengali cinema, an lgbt icon Rituporno Ghosh is a household name for most Bengalis. Further, he was one of the first openly queer people in the industry. He initially studied economics at Jadavpur Uni in Bengal and then worked for some time in an advertising company.
He made his directorial debut with a movie based on an old Bengali book called Hirer Angti. His subsequent films won many national awards. What I personally find very special about his works is despite the wide variety of storylines they pursue, they all share that similar underlying expression of emotion. The way he captured how people feel and how they express pain, joy, and sorrow is magnificent. They deal with womanhood, homosexuality, gender expression and the consequences they hold in Indian society.
Oh so lovely!!! Please recommend any movie of them if it deals with queerness (we might think of doing a queer bollywood night)

TAG 9 PEOPLE YOU WANT TO GET TO KNOW BETTER
Got tagged by the ever effervescent @waitmyturtles (on this post linked here). Thanks dearie! 💖
THREE SHIPS 🔹 It wasn't intentional but mine are the same as @waitmyturtles–
Pat and Pran
Kurosawa and Adachi
Togawa and Nozue.
FIRST SHIP 🔹 The legendary MaxTul.
LAST SONG 🔹 I can't just put one down here; my taste is eclectic and random, and just the last song will paint the wrong picture.
A selection paints a fuller picture (but it's still curious): Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson's "Symphony" (because it was playing in the gym, and the music video is a masterpiece of an LGBT short film that brings me to tears every time – do watch if you haven't yet. It's beautiful). Also Miley Cyrus' "Flowers", the MSP boys' "You've Got Ma Back" and Tilly Birds' "Just Being Friendly." Gonna mention Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man" too because they both popped up on YouTube. And Adam Lambert's version of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero" because Tumblr decided to take a complaint about bots and set it to music (blogpost linked here).
LAST MOVIE 🔹 This one is way out of left field: Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 (the first Tamil movie I've watched in years, and it was SO GOOD). The book it's based on is also a classic. I'm not Tamil (or even of Indian ancestry) but the culture and language have a special place in my heart because of a childhood housekeeper/nanny who was more like family. Now thinking of watching RRR, but don't know if I will get around to it, because the energy in the clips seems a bit overwhelming. (Yes, I'm aware it's Telugu and not Tamil.) Prior to this – it was either Dune or Encanto (no hang on, maybe it was Everything Everywhere AAO; have been avoiding the cinema for a while since I couldn't get vaccinated earlier due to allergies and had to stay indoors quite a bit).
CURRENTLY READING 🔹 Don't hate on this – read the full explanation please – but with a tinge of guilt about the ethics of it all I'm re-reading a book about a certain boy wizard and his journey to self-actualization. Yes, I'm aware the author (whom I shall refrain from naming – like a Voldeuxmort) has in recent years fallen out of favor due to her views on trans issues, and is now a pariah among vast swathes of Tumblr, so please don't come at me, but I have my reasons.
When the books first came out I was fascinated by the world-building and concocted etymologies, but that's not the reason I'm re-reading. Thing is, I'm trying to learn another language (vastly different from the ones I do know) and the books are very useful for this. They have translations readily available in almost any language you could want, and I can cross-check any difficult bits with the English version, and I already know the story anyway. Plus there's lots of dialogue and the original author's style (or lack of it) isn't hugely literary – the prose is mostly functional, even pedestrian. And the plainness of the language helps when you're not ready (at learner level) for any leaps of linguistic trickery (except for the fantastical made-up bits, which you wouldn't need to learn anyway).
Also – and this is a big reason – my late mom loved these books, and they were the basis for a lot of shared memories for us. I remember watching the films with her and visiting the memorabilia stores too. They made her very happy, and this in turn made me happy. Mom also passed before any of the author's less savory views became public. So having them about reminds me of Mom a lot, back when things were simpler and without the current climate of nastiness.
So yes the books have become tarnished in my view, but the way I'm looking at it – these are books I already had even before the author's controversies broke to the surface, so it's not like I bought them recently and am indirectly supporting her here. I used to treasure these books for their imaginative content, rather less so now. There is still beauty in them, but they're also devalued in other ways. I'm not going to throw them out just yet (not right now anyway) – because for now they're also portkeys to happy memories and happier times.
I think of them like this – they're like the heirloom antiques passed down from generations before, but then you get them appraised and suddenly you find out they're not quite the precious artifacts you thought they were. But just because Mom's old clock or statue turned out to be a dud, it doesn't mean I can't use it as a doorstop or paperweight (or just another decorative tchotchke). You don't have to give it pride of place on the mantelpiece, but you can keep it for different uses that bring utility to your life in other ways. (And as always the other voice in my head is going "Yeaaah well, but that clock face has radium and the statue is flaking lead paint! You have a toxic doorstop that could kill the dog and that paperweight is also poisoning the worktable!" OK, valid points; just give me a little bit more time to figure this one out, please. 🤷‍♂️)
For now I'm using these books as functional learning aids, rather than throwing them out straightaway (it's better for the environment too, I tell myself). When my grief over Mom's passing fades (as it will, it must) maybe I can let them go of them then. 😥💖
CURRENTLY WATCHING 🔹 These shows:
Moonlight Chicken
My School President
Bad Buddy (always coming back to this one – but I watch my favorite bits on repeat, rather than going sequentially in full chrono)
The Amazing Race 34 (missed out on this when it first came out, so it's a binge watch now).
CURRENTLY CONSUMING 🔹 Gluten-free fruitcake – I have one in the fridge being quickly depleted and two others stashed in the freezer awaiting their turn; a dear friend and relation is a great baker, and when we recently got together after a years-long break (kept apart by the pandemic), he gave me several of these delicious beauties because he knows how much I love them and covet quality baked goods that are also GF (not always easy to find). SO GOOD with hot coffee and Thai BL. Also munching on the odd slice of gourmet bak kwa from a secret source, plus arrowhead chips.
CURRENTLY CRAVING 🔹 Chicken rice because of Moonlight Chicken.
ONWARD TAGS 🔹 Would like to get to know you more: @miscellar, @colourme-feral, @theheightofdishonor, @airenyah, @crzshaly437, @dribs-and-drabbles, @gennianydots, @faillen, @bengiyo. Ah and @respectthepetty too! Oops, I've gone past nine. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
As always, no obligation to play! But fun if you do. 🥰

Did the fact that I'm working on a Trolls World Tour Racism Alagory essay inspire me to revive an old fan fic I never finished 6 years ago? Yes, it did.
I have been trying so hard to write fan fics for other fandoms. But I keep hesitating. Maybe it's because I'm still nervous about putting LGBT+ theme's in them? Maybe because of my past? But I'm not hesitant on Dreamworks Trolls. Maybe it's because many people I've met in this fandom are extremely accepting? I decided not to force myself to write something that I'm not comfortable with. So here! A revived version of my old fanfic I never finished.
Human/ High School AU for Dreamworks Trolls!
I started the original before the 2nd and 3rd films. So I'm writing a new version that includes those two films. Why did I stop? The story was getting deep for kid me. I was planning on doing topics about ableism, racism, interracial couples, LGBT, depression, foster abuse, adoption, body image, etc. The main focus was finding happiness. Eventually, I gave up because it was too heavy, and I didn't 100% understand everything I was trying to write about. As an adult, I have a better understanding of these topics. So I hope I can tackle this story again, only better. Just a small guide. The story does tackle racism so here's how I associated everyone's race. Everyone is the race of their actors.
Branch - White/black mix. He is voiced by a white man but the rest of his family, Grandma and some brothers, are voiced by black people.
Poppy - Mexican/White mix. She and her dad are voiced by white people but her sister, Viva, is voiced by a Mexican actress.
Biggie, Fuzzbert, Satin, Chenille, Smidge, and Suki - White.
Guy Diamond- Indian.
Copper, Prince D, and anyone who is associated with Funk Trolls- Black.
So you get the idea. Same rule for their sexualities. Expect LGBT from Branch's brothers. I also made Barb an exception because I need it for the plot. 😅 This story has no intentions of insulting anyone. So if I get something wrong, don't be afraid to correct me. I'm willing to listen.
And if you're interested in what the original looked like......
Originally, I was gonna use Cooper and G.D. to tackle the subject of being biracial. But with the 2nd and 3rd movies out, the biracial plot moved over to Branch and Poppy. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎🩷

! I saw from a recent ask that you watched rrr! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's been interesting in both a good and bad way to see how its fanbase has grown. I don't go into the tag for my peace of mind but I remember when there were only like 5 people in there who were all indian and already fans of the director/actors/actors' families...and now my gifsets have hundreds of notes from people all around the world. wild. also thank you for calling it homoerotic. one of the most frustrating side effects of the growing popularity has been westerners being like HAHA THEY DIDN'T REALIZE THEY MADE IT GAY/THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT GAY. but the relationship is very much purposeful, coded through actions/music/references to old homoerotic desi media/references to couples in mythology, plus the fact that many of the dialogue writers, lyricists, and singers in multiple languages have done smaller projects that are openly lgbt. rajamouli directly said that he intended for the romance angle to be between ram and bheem (it was in a long technical interview in telugu before the movie released and he immediately covered it up afterward by saying bromance, so I think he felt safe enough to sneak it in lol). so anyway, I'd expect as much from someone whose cql opinions are so correct but thank you anyway for Getting It!
AH THANK YOU... i didn't know that abt the interview & other crew members' involvement in lgbt projects! it's nice to know the romantic angle was rly something rajamouli deliberately or at least knowingly included, because this pervasive attitude that media from any country east of europe is too Unenlightened for el gee bee tees makes me want to throw things. still i'm glad the movie is getting so much attention online bc i'd really like to see more non-american stories in the mainstream media landscape, & also you have no idea how funny it was to be poking around in the tag for gifsets only to end up going (beyoncé girl voice) tumblr user pariaritzia???
