You were on your 1999's jeep on your way to Texas. You and your friends decides to move to a very hot place for what unknown reason. You were burning but the opened windows seemed to help a bit. Your two friends in the back seat were making out shamelessly while the driver of the car who was actively tying to flirt with you. It may not be the best car trip right now but you're sure it's gonna be worth it.
The town itself wasn't very loud but you just hoped the cacophony of lip smacking and annoying sounds from the radio would end.

"Ah it seems you've run into my son Thomas, I'm Luda Mae just call me Mae and don't fear him he isn't going to hurt you he's just a gentle giant, right Tommy?" The elderly woman said.
The man now you know as either Thomas or Tommy slightly nodded his head.
"Hi Tommy! Nice to meet you!" You chirped as if you were talking to a baby or a small animal, this unfamiliar tone of voice caught both of them off guard, Thomas flabbergasted and flustered underneath his mask and Luda with a small o on her mouth which turned into a teasing smile. But before she could say anything your friends barged inside.

You were roughly pulled away from Thomas by one of your friends, as they so rudely explained that you shouldn't be near someone as big and dangerous as tommy and ordered whatever was on their mind and dragged you away only a small 'bye!' Escaping your lips before seen out of sight from both of them.
Maybe you won't be food.
Now a few hours later and it's dark and you can barely see anything but you were bleeding and scars on your body and was running away from that house with your only remaining friend but now you have none since a chainsaw is going through their body leaving you no choice but to run away alone leaving you scared to death.
You were running as fast as you could but the killer caught up to you and you recognised those distinct eyes.
"Tommy?" You asked, fear and adrenaline leaving your body, why was it that you felt so in peace when you are with him? Before you could process anything further your vision blackened.
And now you found yourself tied to a chair in front of family of 4 Or 5 you can't tell but what you did notice that your flirty driver was hung upside down on the wall. And now you were sobbing because you were scared for your life.
Thomas wanted you to stop crying and aquiver but didn't know how so he decided to comfort you with music he gently placed his headphone over your ears hoping it'll calm you down and oddly enough it did. It calmed you knowing he didn't mean you harm. But you aren't sure that goes for the same from his family, how did you even get into this situation anyways? They all started eating what they called 'your friends' and Thomas even started to feed you. which strangely didn't seem to bother you as much as you thought it would. You started zoning out and before you knew it the tight rope from your hands started to untangle.
"Hey! What are you doing!? First you insist they be tied with rope instead of nailing them and now you're untying them?"
You had absolutely no idea what was going on so you just sat idle and Thomas stood there with his hands pointed at you as to show that you meant no harm.
"What if they run away and snitch?"
"I-i won't!" You cursed yourself for stuttering.
"Well.. It doesn't hurt to have one more family member." Luda mae implies.
"I'm watching you..." The older man snarly says to you.
Few months later you are now very much apart of their family and you help around the house, 8/10 (10 if you don't mind murder and blood and cannibalism)

i was driving home with a friend yesterday, a friend i've had almost 20 years now, who was my very first internet friend in the early aughts when feminist blogging was in its heyday and who has become an irl friend now that i've moved to the mainland. she has functioned as a big sister in my life all this time. i love her to pieces, and my life has significantly improved with her in it.
we were talking about how weird it is to think the age our children were when we met, and the ways their lives and our lives have changed over the course of our friendship. we both started out single mothers stuck in poverty, and had our respective journeys out of those circumstances during which we've been supportive to one another, helping each other out when we had the means to do so. we've veered in and out of connected interests. i'm a gamer, she's never been into games and more often than not has no idea what i'm talking about. i have no grasp of interior design or fashion, and she has a knack for these things. but we take interest enough to appreciate what these things mean to each other. we've had disagreements and even fights over the years, but at the end of it we found the relationship to be worth the work you put in to maintaining it.
i met my best friends over fifteen years ago through fandom. we formed a fast kinship out of what we joke to be our objectively correct fandom opinions, mostly about the same character from that fandom. over the course of time we've wandered out of overlapping fandoms, supporting one another in our interests even though we didn't share them. i've read some of their fic in those fandoms. i've reblogged art of characters i know nothing about. we find dumb ways to show our interest in their interest. we found the connections beneath the fandoms, the human bonds, and built something enduring and beautiful that i can honestly say i could not be the person i am today without. even when we eventually fell into the same fandom again, we wound up engaging with it in very different ways. but we support each other, gently rib one another over "being wrong" and realize that at the end of the day, those things are ephemeral. our friendship endures.
i met my spouse almost 20 years ago, about the same time i met my big sister. we met through a job, both having come from backgrounds of poverty. we both enjoyed gaming (he started me on my first mmo), but quickly discovered we like very different games, but even when we play the same games we engage with them in very different ways. we share almost no other interests. he likes action movies, i like dumb comedies. he listens to goth and rockabilly, and i'm a classic rock and pop princess. he's read about a third of one of three of my original novels, one of my published shorts stories (he helped me work out the science i used) and (thank fuck) none of my fanfiction. but he shares my work with others, listens to me natter on about games he doesn't play, and we even will watch movies together because we enjoy time together, and i like to bite him at random intervals to keep it real and go with him to look at parts for his bike.
my point (i actually have one) is that in order to build long-term relationships you have to find the connections beyond the fleeting. you remember that your big sis loves pink lipstick so you send her a trinket bowl shaped like pink lips, or that 'none pizza with left beef' makes your spouse lose it until they cry laughing. that one of your besties has a laugh that carries over even your own loud one making music of the two of you, and the other will chase canada gooses with abandon until you fall in the grass in delight. you smile when they talk about their favorite actual play podcast and squeal over their tattoo that is inspired by an anime you've never seen. you bring up old shit to drag them and never let them live down the goofs that made you all laugh until you cried. you send them dumb cards or plants when their life is hard and you can't be there to make them soup when they're sick. you do these things because you love them. you love them for all the bits and pieces that comprise their whole even when those things don't align with your own. you might find the initial connection in the shared interests, but you build bonds separate from those through the commonality of your humanity.
relationships, platonic, not, and familial, take work. you have to put in effort. you don't have to like the same things, but you do have to have room to allow those varied and separate interests to shine in who they are. you take delight in their joy and share comfort in their sorrow. you talk to them. you reach out to them. you show that they matter to you more than your differences. that's love. that's something that endures.

He put it in your backpack and sat on his bed, muttering about something — Idia almost didn't notice when you woke up and called his name in a worried tone.

He has seen you making fanart once or twice, and he really does love looking at your drawings!

Okay, I am gonna preface this by saying this is probably one of the only times I will write for a full-fledged cis Fem reader. This is a Trans/Male/Enby blog, and as such, this will also be tagged as Dysphoria TW since I know a lot of trans homies follow me. Fem reader does have a slight fear of men.
Oh, man. So… you're a girl in a school full of immature men with a dorm that's the embodiment of toxic masculinity… Well just stick to this handy guide on how to survive men 101 and you might just survive… maybe. Also, good luck, you are going to need it.
When you were summoned, it was a good thing your robes were way too big for you and hid you well, even with all the action you experienced, it managed to keep you hidden. After the disaster that was the opening ceremony, Crowley took you aside and realized you were a woman.
This could go two ways. He can totally announce that NRC is now accepting women! Wouldn’t that make the school look great- hey wait don't hit him, what do you mean this isn't the time for that? What do you mean it's scary to be surrounded by men? After smacking some sense into him, you go with the second plan: Hide your identity.
Chances are if you have been isekai’d you won’t have the magic or potions to disguise yourself as a boy, so here are some alternatives! (Don't actually do some of this IRL)
Beg Crowley for a disguise charm! It works like a charm to hide all things about your body, making you perfectly androgynous. Furthermore, it also hides the smell of a monthly cycle and any hormones and pheromones the body produces. All you have to do is guilt trip. It would look bad if a student got hurt, right?
It's binder time! Can't get a binder? No problem! Just wrap your chest with as much duct tape or bandages as possible, when you can barely breathe, you know you’re done! Be sure to wear lots of perfume to hide any scents too!
Fake body! There are a lot of wearable silicon suits out there! Just get one for your torso and face and bam! Good luck when it gets hot though!
Sam, though a businessman, is a very good man. He can definitely give you a few remedies to changing or disguising yourself. Who knows, you might just strike a deal with him.
Present yourself as a trans-guy, femme enby, or just feminine man. You just have to deal with transphobia on top of misogyny. Have fun!
And if none of these work? You're shit outta luck.
You think you can tell Grim, your roommate? Absolutely not. No one can know, not even your closest friends. They're loud and unreliable. They would let your identity slip at a moment's notice. Thankfully Grim is an idiot and doesn't really notice anything. After all, you've seen how some of these guys talk about women…
So you hiding your identity should be where this guide ends. However, you as the MC can never have it so easy. Congratulations! You were revealed to be a woman! Here are some pro tips to deal with the creeps and some notable behaviors from our faborite characters.
The ghost bride event has shown us none of these men know how to interact with women at all. Even the most mature of the cast seemed to get nervous around women. Yes, even the gentleman Trey is unsure how to interact with you at first but unlike everyone else, he quickly gets over it and realizes it's not a big deal. Riddle, Vil, Ortho, Jade, Jack, Rook, Kalim, Jamil, and Malleus are the only ones that realize this.
Silver and Lilia get a category of their own as they are very polite and it makes no difference. Silver would even swear to protect you as well since he is a knight in training. Good boys.
Others get stuck in a phase where they believe they have to treat you differently now. Even when they eventually grow out of it, it does get very annoying. Especially when Sebek feels the need to try and be your protector as well…
You think that Ruggie’s and Leona’s fear of women would give you a break. You are wrong. It makes your interactions with each other feel stiff and grating. You have to hold back the urge to smack them sometimes. Don’t get me started on Idia
But that's just the cast, you should really be fearing the NPCs. The Savannahclaw dorm is your mortal enemy. Even when Leon gave his dorm members a talk about not disrespecting you, his words go on a lot of deaf ears. Casual sexism and gross remarks about you are expected.
However, there are scary times when some men in general think you owe them sex for basic kindness or are very keen on the only girl in school getting them off when they’re in the mood and a lot of them don't take rejection well. Usually, you have to walk with your friends… Oh, man, and the catcalling…
Of course, now you also have a creepy group of stalker simps that seem to want to swoop in and protect you from everything. Invest in some locks around Ramshackle…
A silver lining however is the staff. Sam doesn't expect you to pay for feminine products and gives any other customer that messes with you a hard time. Hell, he even employs you so you can also get some cash to be able to take care of yourself with.
Vargas doesn't go any easier on you, however, he does keep a very close eye on you during PE, just in case any boys get ideas… He takes it upon himself to teach you self defense.
Trein has had daughters before, and sees you as an extension of them. He has you in the front of the class so he can look after you easier and is often one to help you walk home. He knows how bad young men are these days and is just doing what he would do for his daughters. You’re allowed in his classroom anytime and he is sure to report any man who gives you a rough time.
Crewel is similar. He also keeps an eye on you during classes and sits with you with your friends. He may even hold you back after class to check in on you or show you a few different potions that could help with your situation. “Stop, you dog! Unhand the lady. You poor fools know nothing about class nor respect. For your punishment-“
At least now you can really see who your true friends are. The ones that don't treat you differently and look out for you make you feel grateful. You still are hoping for the day you can get out though.
The media will eventually pick this up. A magicless girl at an all boys academy? They just have to get the scoop. No one blames you for hiding in your room rather than dealing with paparazzi or reporters trying to invade your space. However, the super-personal questions paired with remarks about your appearance or talents being plastered everywhere online isn’t good for your mental health. You want to go home.

Hey! I wanted to know why Taryn's character gets a lot of hate even tho she was trying to survive in faerie just as Jude did. Except her way of survival was more traditionally feminine and demure.
this has honestly been my point since like... forever lmao. if you've been on my blog for any length of time, you'll know i'm a pretty big Taryn apologist. i speak more about it in this post. but essentially, it's exactly what you said. and i have more to say.

I. Me, harping on about Madoc deserving more of the fandom's scorn, part 300
it will always boggle my mind how this fandom allows Madoc every grace of "the complex character/relationship" but we don't afford Taryn even remotely the same attempt at understanding. even when Madoc committed infinitely more betrayals, infinitely more attrocities, than Taryn ever committed–or indeed has had time to commit given her extremely young age (compared to Madoc's centuries of life).
that's not to say i don't love Madoc. i think he's a great villain and his character, particularly his relationship with his children, is very complex. but why can't this be the same way we treat Taryn?
regardless of this blatant double-standard, people still hate her, and i think it has a lot to do with (as you said) the way Taryn handles her traumatic life events.

i've discussed this on here before, but the Duarte sisters exhibit three out of the four recognised trauma responses in the way they cope with their parents' death/being taken to Faerie:
Jude- fight
Vivi- flight
Taryn- fawn
i think we can all agree that, in terms of what an audience wants to see from characters, Jude's fight response is the most palatable of the three. not only because she is the main character (and thus, everything is from her perspective/justified in her eyes), but also because it is what i believe most of us would want to be able to do ourselves in the face of adversity and hardship.
it's the most commendable. it is probably also the hardest to maintain (as is made apparent by the series as a whole). which is why the other two sisters employ alternative modes of survival.
as discussed in this post, Vivi survives by escaping. whenever and however she can. i'm not sure how everyone feels about this one. until recently, i had no idea people even had strong opinions about Vivi.
but i do know that the flight response could be considered a bit cowardly, even if it's effective. if there's anything to be respected about it, though, it's that the person knows in no uncertain terms that they are not cut out for facing the trauma head-on. and they are the first one to admit it.
the fawn response, however, is a kind of camouflage. it's doing everything in your power to be perceived a certain way, to fit in, to please people.
the thing i think people dislike about the fawn response, is that (if you twist the perspective enough) it could be viewed as dishonest. deceptive or manipulative. perhaps even spineless, depending on the situation.
and indeed, these are all phrases i've seen thrown around in close proximity to Taryn's name.
throughout the book, Taryn plays nice in order to get people to like her. she does whatever the fae tell her to do, even at the expense of her own or her sister's humiliation. and instead of making her own place at court, she announces that she will "fall in love" to earn her seat. meaning that she will rely on one of the fae (likely someone with station) to give her the privilege of staying at court, through means of marriage or children.
it's a more passive route to survival than Jude's. but that route isn't any less valid. it's just less masculine.
III. Active vs. Passive (and how it leads to misguided sensationalism)
society has taught us not to see passivity as a mode of operation, and unfortunately, this makes for overtly sensationalised (and therefore inaccurate) interpretations of character.
if the only actions a character takes are deceptive ones, we conclude they are intentionally deceiving people. if the character doesn't act at all, they are apathetic people. no matter the character's own motives. if they do not act the way we wish them to act, they must be in direct opposition to what we want.
take Taryn, for example. if her modus operandi is to camouflage, or passively fit in, we don't recognise this as an action. rather, we look at what she does do.
in order to achieve her goal, Taryn must actively betray her sister (multiple times), lie to her (multiple times), and kill her husband in cold blood (an attribute, if you ask me, but whatever). through these actions, we, as the audience, realise Taryn is not nice. but she portrays herself this way so she can get what she wants. as all good writing does, we are made to feel deceived right along with Jude.
but even though Jude herself forgives Taryn eventually, we still dislike her. because she is not our sister. she is not the main character. she doesn't mean much to us. we don't regard her as a nuanced person–she becomes, to many, this two-dimensional "enemy" or "other".
and if you aren't thinking critically about the text, and instead take the story personally, then yeah. you're going to hate Taryn at the end of it all.
people have a way of interpreting actions as the sole basis of character, while disregarding motive or intention. i don't think this wise. it's reductive at best, disingenuous at worst.
actions are a product of our nature and the conditions of our environment. Taryn is in just as much peril as Jude is in Faerie. the only reason you, dear reader, might not like Taryn is because she didn't act how you wanted her to act, and because she didn't act how you wanted her to act, she ended up hurting someone you care about (Jude).
this well-meaning loyalty unfortunately doesn't do much for an accomplished understanding of the text. which i get it. some of us are just here for fun and that's fine. but if you take the time to hate a character with as much passion as people seem to hate Taryn, you have time to think at least a little bit critically about the text.

DS9 S1 E20 - In The Hands Of The Prophets
Soooooooooooo.... I finished S1. And I officially hate Space Karen.
I want to get this out of the way so I hopefully never have to say it again because praising this character hurts me deep in my religiously traumatized soul (lol), but she is *really* good. I mean, of course she was going to be well played given the actress who plays her (RIP Louise Fletcher), but she's so fucking good at how evil she actually is. We're meant to hate her, I get that. But the writing and acting is phenomenal when it comes to this level of religious bigotry and scheming.
I have seen actual people IRL that were just a couple steps down the ladder from being pure fanatics to this dangerous level and the shit they've said in some cases were almost word for word how she spun in.
We started out the episode though with a fun note on Keiko joking with Miles and clearly hinting at something that is probably just supposed to be her playing at being jealous but definitely reads as swinger language to me. Which, from what I've gathered DS9 is one big polyam fam so I may be picking up on those vibes.
Which, I'm kinda sad Neela was the traitor here. I called it when the tool was discovered missing though "it" hadn't been revealed to be secret traitor levels yet and I just assumed she used the tool for some reason. I still knew it was her and when the episode went on and murder turned into potential terrorism I was just... bummed. She seemed to truly be getting alone with Miles and the scene in the shuttle def added to my polyam/swinger thoughts, but she really seemed to actually care for him. This didn't take away from my... enjoyment, can one really call it that when one is also seething? Anyway, it didn't take anything away from the episode from me, if fact it kinda made it feel a bit more realistic cause I have absolutely lost people I cared about because of religion. It just sucked.
Then Winn shows up at the school to talk religious nonsense and the "real" trouble starts. Oh I hate that woman.
And then Kira backing Winn? I know she's also got her own spiritual beliefs and journey but that felt... a bit much? Not aligned with who she had been up to this point? Not the teaching the kids part but the "lets separate everyone" idea. It definitely threw me out of the scene for a bit. I accept it, though, based on the very end of the episode where she explained that she hoped her beliefs were as strong as Winn's, but this was the one bit of writing that I disagreed with. If something has to wait to the end to be explained like this, it could use some fixing.
Quark and Odo meeting in secret to talk about a case seems to me like the writers were trying make up an excuse to get them alone together....
Watching Winn turn all the parents and kids against Keiko was frustrating. The Bajorian food seller not selling to them because of this wasn't so much upsetting as it just made me roll my eyes, but I adore Miles for wanting to jump the counter for his wifes honor lol
When the school blew and Miles ran towards it? And then Odo had to hold him back so he didn't jump into the fire? My heart. It was such a good scene.
I think my favorite part of this episode was Siskos speech. The "You've just made your first mistake" speech. I'm being a bit egotistical for this bit, though. I love it cause these are the same exact speeches I like to make in my ttrpgs. The "You think you've won but really you've severally underestimated us and we're going to ruin you now" speeches are my fucking favorite and I live for them. Sisko wins the gold star for this one.

So. You've just heard the words "proship" and "anti" for the first time. Or maybe you've been hearing them for a while, and you decided to look up what they mean. Or maybe you've just stumbled upon this post.
A quick disclaimer! I, the person that wrote this post, am a proshipper. However, I will try to present both arguments from an objective and unbiased point of view. However, there may be small mistakes from the antiship side of things, of which I am sorry. This post was made in good faith to help people who have never heard of this discourse before. If you're an anti and would like to give your two cents about my section on antis, feel free!
I have also linked several sources in the replies section, since links tend to fuck with the tumblr search engine. Feel free to look into those if you'd like to read more on the subject. (and please do before trying to correct this post, since there's a lot of misinformation going around on the subject!)
Antishipping:
Since the term antishipping originated before the term proshipping (even if the proship ideology existed first), it seems like a good place to start.
Antishipping is the belief that certain types of fandom content reflect badly on the people that create and consume it. Antishippers believe that if you interact with that content enough, your real-life morals get loosened, and you are more likely to want to commit the crimes depicted in said content.
Some antishippers think that people that already have a desire to commit said crimes are more likely to enjoy content depicting those crimes, and thus liking that content is a "red flag". I've seen both arguments about equally.
What do I mean by said content? You'll get a slightly different definition from anti to anti, but common targets of this logic include:Ships with a large age gap. Ships that have one character under the age of adulthood, and one over. Incestuous ships. Ships between real people like celebrities. Ships deemed racist/sexist/ableist/homophobic/transphobic by the fandom. Abusive ships. One thing I've noticed about antis is how sex and romance focused they seem to be. They rarely apply the same logic to fics depicting crimes such as assault and murder, despite those also being just as illegal IRL.
Proshipping: If antishipping is the belief that certain ships reflect badly about your character, proshipping is the belief that it does not.
There are a lot of misconceptions about the word proship, so allow me to do a quick tangent about what a proshipper is not:
Proship is not short for problematic ship. The term proship was named to oppose the pre-existing anti ship. It is pro as in for.
Proship is not a synonym for pedophile. Proship is all about what you think is okay to depict in fiction, not your real life sexual preferences. For instance, the proshipper writing this is asexual and incapable of having a sexual interest in anyone.
Proship is not an assertion of comfort for every type of problematic ship. Quite a lot of proshippers are uncomfortable with incest and age gap ships. The only requirement to be a proshipper is that you don't think someone is a bad person for writing/reading problematic fiction.
Why do proshippers think this? There is a variety of reasons among the community, but as a general rule of thumb they try to give people the benefit of the doubt. That person who writes incest fic could be hitting on their own family. But they also could be a victim of incest and write to come to terms with what they went through. They also could be an only child that finds the idea of a big brother having a crush on them hot. Without having an honest conversation with them, we have no real way of knowing.
I won't overshare, but the main reason I enjoy abusive dynamics in fiction is because I was abused in the past. I like the idea of finding catharsis in fiction, where characters that remind me of my abusers can grow and change for the better. I don't think that'll make me more likely to abuse the people close to me. I'd argue that since I understand what behaviors are abusive better, I'm actually less likely! (I had to unlearn a lot of shit.)
Problems with the antiship community:
A lot of antishippers harass people that make content for ships they dislike. Despite antishippers being upset at the perceived normalization that problematic ships might cause, a lot of them normalize using violent language to people they disagree with. A lot of antishippers are comfortable dehumanizing proshippers and have little compassion. Despite a lot of antis calling for better trigger tagging of fictional content, they rarely trigger tag their violent threats to people that make content they are morally opposed to.
A lot of antis overuse words like "pedophile" and "Child Porn" (tangent: the proper terminology for pictures of a (real, IRL) minor is CSEM or Child Sexual Exploitation Material. It is never porn.) in situations when they don't actually apply, creating alarm fatigue and difficulty communicating when an actual crime is being committed. Governments have asked antis specifically to stop clogging up their hotlines with reports of porn of fictional characters.
A small but dangerous subsection of antis will knowingly expose NSFW content to minors to show them what proshippers are creating. This is an IRL crime, and should be reported if you ever encounter it.
A lot of antishippers strech the definition of problematic to include ships they personally dislike. I have seen anti shippers bashing the relationship between a 14 y/o character and a 16 y/o character, despite that not being much of an age gap at all. This causes the rise of excuses like "sibling coding" (the implication that two characters that are not biologically related or are adopted siblings are siblings for found family reasons, and can't be shipped.)
Antishippers frequently call for problematic content to "remain out of the main tags", which would seem a logical request at first. They do not wish to know such content is being created. However, this makes it harder for the people not in the fandom to avoid seeing said content. Some people have fandom tags blocked for trigger reasons, and following the antis advice of not putting things in the main tags can put those people in danger. (Most proshippers put multiple trigger warnings on their content for people to search for and filter out.)
There is a lot of ableism in the antiship community, with two of their frequently used insults being "get help" and "proship freaks". Many antis frequently expect users who want to interact with them to check a "carrd" (an external website where they keep lists of who they do and don't want to see on their blog.) which can frequently be eyescorching and hard to read for people with visual sensitivities.
A lot of antishippers overshare information about themselves to dangerous levels. It is common for them to share their names, exact ages, and triggers. This could be used to hurt them by malicious trolls, and is not a good idea.
Instead of creating new websites where the rules cater to them, antis will try to bend (or just) the rules of existing websites that are more in line with the proship ideology. Despite believing these websites lower the moral character of everyone that uses them, the willingly choose to use them anyway.
Problems with the proship community:
(this is by far the section I am the least confident in writing, so if you would like to reblog this with problems about the proship community I did not mention, I will not be upset. I try to make this post as objective as humanly possible.)
Many critics of the proship community describe it as an "echo chamber", and there is some truth to that. There is a lot of pressure to be comfortable with the darkest of problematic ships, else you may get accused of not being a real proshipper.
There is also overlap between the proship community and several communities like consang, radqueer and transid. You have to do your research on who you follow if you (understandably) wish to avoid those communities.
There is a lot of hostility to "neutrals" of this discourse from the proship community. (Personally, I don't think neutrals exist. Either fiction makes you worse, or it doesn't. Its a binary issue. That being said, ID as neutral to this if you want, I won't stop you.)
This could either be a bug or a feature depending on who you ask, but I notice a tendency to prefer ship positivity over nuanced discussion or talk about dynamics/headcanons.
Quite a lot of proshippers have victim complexes (probably due to all of the suicide baiting) and will take any disagreement with them in the worst possible light.

I never really understood how shadow gained his memories back.
This is coming from a personal level, but him struggling with these identity and memory issues always kind of stuck with me.
As someone who struggles with memory, it's really hard to trust what people say is true or not.
Someone recently told me they've known me for years, and I thought I only knew them for a few weeks.
Like, this is somebody I'm supposed to know. They're so familiar, yet to somehow their still a stranger.
It's shit like that, that always bugs me.
Then people tell me of these stories and things I went through, and it's like I'm listening to another person explain to me what my life was like. It just feels like I'm listening to someone read a storybook.
It's all so distant, beacuse I just can't really remember. I can't connect with my own self, and honestly I don't even know if should. Sometimes I question whether I should even try to learn my psst, or if it would even matter at all..
It makes it hard to trust people too. Cause there's liars out there, and when you've got memory problems it makes it easy for them to put stuff in your head.
(Always thinking about that just gives me way to much anxiety and makes it impossible for me to connect with people.. it's like I got eggshells for shoes.)
I try not to think about it too much, and just move on in life...but the feelings still there.
It just sucks.
I have a really good memory too...(I think?) beacuse when I can remember things its crisp and detailed. (Atleast..sometimes.)
Either than that, there's just entire gaps between my life I can't remember.
I have a freind who tells me about all my adventures I had with her. So I'm just here, lying down on my bed, contemplating all these memories I had with her.
All those memories I can't remember.

hi, twitter refugee here and i love this blog. it's a breath of fresh air compared to the "proship" side of one of my previous main fandoms. i feel like both "sides" on twitter generally just use the other stance to mean "anyone i don't like." the big "proship" people in that fandom were hypocrits who would call me anti for having a popular ship as a trigger (even tho i don't care who shipped it) while also calling me a "freak" for (properly tagged) caregiver/little and abdl content. i ended up receiving harassment from them at the same time as harassment from antis for being openly proship and shipping teacher x student, large age gaps and incest. it was just so confusing and frustrating because it was like "whatever happened to ignoring content you don't like? what proship literally means???" as people openly into shotacon would shittalk me over abdl like it doesn't make them sound hypocritical and then it felt so much like you were expected to like the most popular ship in the fandom (which was deemed as problematic by a lot of people) to be "proship" even tho a lot of antis like that ship too. it's just great to see that proship tumblr seems to be actually proship and anti-harassment rather than whatever weirdness twitter was

Tbh it reminds me of when i saw some so-called "proshippers" (reminder: you can't be proship if you harass people over their shipping tastes!) call people "anti-lite" simply because they didn't support radqueer things like consang.
Consanguinamory is about IRL people! Shipping shipcest is fiction! Anti is not just a label you use for people who don't like the things you like or disagree with you about serious topics like IRL incest, wtf? I know this isn't specifically what this ask is about, but it's something I've actually seen with my own two eyeballs that blows my mind.
You are very welcome here, as are your boundaries. Unfortunately, we do have some of those types of people using the proship label here on tumblr, but thankfully, they aren't common. At least not in my experience. I hope you have a much better time here! ❤️

These answers are mostly exclusively for Marvel/X-Men fandom. Be warned, I blab on forever. I cut out questions I already answered.
the character everyone gets wrong
I would love it if writers and fans stopped treating Sebastian Shaw as a sexist strawman. I think the most ridiculous recent example was Shaw arguing against Curse’s resurrection in X-Men Green, and Kitty accusing him of having problems with powerful women he can’t control, and name-dropping Jean “Fire and life incarnate” like that’s supposed to intimidate Sebastian. Give me a break, are we really girlbossing Curse? I think Sebastian opposes Curse’s resurrection because she went a killing spree that makes her a liability to Krakoa.
It's also…..interesting to me that Sebastian is treated like the epitome of rich white male privilege. I mean, I get it, he is rich and white and male, and he acts like he spends all his free time swimming in the money bin, but he also grew up in poverty. There are plenty of rich characters born into wealth who don’t get this treatment.

I’m assuming this means just fandom related, not real world issues. But if I can veer away from X-Men fandom for a second, I really, really hate the way English-speaking manga fans have picked up the word fujoshi and turned it into “those awful women who fetishize MLM” The original meaning of fujoshi, or “rotten women,” was misogynistic and homophobic male manga fans insulting any woman who was a big fan of anime/manga, and especially women who shipped M/M. Japanese female fans embraced and reclaimed the term as a kind of badge of honor. And now English-speaking, mostly Western fans on Tumblr have snatched up the term, which they don’t fully understand, as a way to differentiate themselves, the “good” M/M fans, from those awful fujoshi, the “bad” M/M fans. I honestly think it’s racist to use the word that way. You don’t get to enjoy Japanese BL/yaoi manga (or ship characters from manga) and also steal a word from Japanese fandom and use it incorrectly to bash on other fans. If you want to talk about female fans fetishizing gay men, that’s a conversation we can have without taking a word out of context from another culture. Personally, I think the main thing that really matters is how people treat actual, real life LGBTQ people.

Aside from those friendly pornbots, the main people I block are random strangers that I see having shitty opinions on threads reblogged by people I follow (the people I follow are generally reblogging a refutation of the shitty opinion). So anyone posting, say, anti-trans stuff gets a block immediately.
I’ve never blocked a mutual or someone that I previously followed, it would take a lot to get me to do that. There was one blog that I had bookmarked and frequently read back before I had a tumblr account, because they mostly posted about a character I like. Their posting got gradually more and more red-pilled – they started posting Jordan Peterson videos, then it was pro-Trump stuff. I don’t know what the hell happened, they had seemed like an intelligent and empathetic person. I never officially followed them on tumblr, but last time I checked their blog, they were whining about SJW. Blocked.

I think it all comes down to the individual fans. Any ship can be annoying if it gets large enough that it sort of dominates fandom, but I still don’t mind if the fans are well-behaved. Ship wars in general annoy me – ship and let ship, as far as I’m concerned. I probably get more annoyed with people who make a big deal about hating a particular ship. I don’t mean just disliking it, or making a few posts venting about the ship or fans being annoying, I totally understand that. I mean constantly posting about how much they hate the ship, like it’s their own personal crusade.

Morph from TAS. Look, here’s this upbeat and cheerful mutant (who is also kind of annoying, admittedly), who is “killed” while trying to protect their friend, and then goes through absolute hell being manipulated and tortured and turned against their own team and having to confront their own dark side because they did terrible things, that’s an interesting character right there. And Exiles Morph shows that TAS Morph has a ton of untapped potential in their powers. Not to mention, we know so little about the character and their background, you can project whatever fanon you want onto them. (Slaps roof) This bad boy can fit so many headcanons into them!
While I’m at it, I’ll also give a shout-out to Spyke from Evolution, a cute and likable kid with very cool powers, who also goes through an interesting arc with his powers visibly mutating his body, and he goes underground to live with the Morlocks and becomes their protector (which is nice, given that the X-Men mostly ignore the Morlocks). And unlike Morph, Spyke was actually a main cast member on the show. No offense to X-23, but how is it she got imported into the comics as a major character, despite only appearing in two episodes, and Spyke never really did? (I know the answer – it’s because she’s a Wolverine.)
13. worst blorboficiation
Leah Williams completely re-writing Blob’s personality. Don’t get me wrong, I like a more thoughtful, sensitive Blob, I like chill bartender Blob living his best life on Krakoa, I don’t like a personality change that barely resembles the old character. I like Blob’s big and loud personality, even when he was often an obnoxious jerk, and I think there are ways to write him more sympathetically without completely losing that.
To be honest a lot of Leah Williams writing is just…..a little too Tumblr for me? (Outside of other issues) Like I totally love and appreciate the jokes and memes people make on here, but I can’t stand Jubilee using the phrase “juicy dumper” to describe having a nice ass. Not because Jubilee can’t talk about sex or her body, or be vulgar, she’s a grown adult mother. Just that “juicy dumper” sounds so fucking stupid, even for Jubilee, who is a slang queen. It’s speech that works online, but people shouldn’t actually say it.
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
If we’re talking about things that annoy me, the obvious influence of TV or movie versions of characters when people are supposedly writing the comics version. Or people tagging all possible adaptations, even though those have wildly different versions of the characters. I don’t mind people being creative and adapting various versions of the characters, I do mind people claiming they’re writing the comics character, and it’s obviously the movie/cartoon version. Or going into a fic not knowing at all which versions of the character I’m going to get. That’s probably my most petty, gate-keeping fandom opinion.
15, that one thing you see in fanart all the time
I really don’t have a problem with most fanart. I do get tired of Madelyne Pryor fanart being all evil-sexy-boobs-out Goblin Queen, but in fairness, that’s how the comics have been depicting her for years. And unless you tag it as Maddy, or put her in her flight suit or Anodyne costume, it’s hard to know it’s her otherwise.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
The Wolverine/Jean/Scott “love triangle,” I’m so tired of it, but Wolverine writers will never let the whole Jean thing go. I think fandom is actually pretty divided on it at this point, but there are plenty of people that still seem to love it, or want some kind of poly thing between them. (I don’t have an issue with a poly relationship in comics, I just have an issue with Jean/Wolverine.) I hate it because it feels forced, because Wolverine has had many partners and it seems like writers just want him to be the cool guy who gets all the women, and because they want some of the conflict between Wolverine and Scott to revolve around Jean, even though it’s already an obvious conflict between team leader and Guy Who Hates Authority. I have never read any kind of attraction on Jean’s part that has convinced me, it just feels like Wolverine either pining for or chasing after a woman who is not interested, and who is already with someone else. I’d much rather see Wolverine/Storm, or Wolverine/Storm/Nightcrawler if people want a poly ship. That’s actually a romance growing naturally out of friendship and mutual respect, not “The cool rebel guy likes The Girl, and therefore he should have her.”

Shinobi Shaw. He’s a hot bad boy with a history of being abused, he’s the son of a prominent villain, he’s bisexual and has an amazing fashion sense (when he’s not in Marauders). He’s a poor little meow meow. He has all the qualities that should make Tumblr latch onto him, but for some reason people haven’t. Maybe because he hasn’t had much to do in the Krakoa era outside of Marauders, and he didn’t really get to do much in Marauders, either.

I’ve been trying to read some of the original X-Men issues, like the stuff from way back in the 60’s, and wow is it a slog. I’m honestly mostly bored with the original five, I like Jean and Bobby, but I think the book gets way more interesting when the Giant Size X-Men show up.

Big comics events, editors please stop making writers interrupt their stories every few months for the latest “event.”
But the recent specific thing is Mr. Sinister. He’s a fun and entertaining character, but he or one of his clones have played SUCH a big role in the Krakoa books, and we just had an entire event about him taking over, and it seems like his story still isn’t over, I’m honestly just tired of him. I’m glad classic Sinister went into the Pit, but there are still three clones running around to fill the void, and they’re not that interesting either. I don’t want Sinister to leave the books entirely, I just want him and his variants to GO AWAY for a little while.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Phantazia. Where are you, Eileen?
Also, why has no one put Pyro and Fabian Cortez together as a musical duo when they both can canonically play instruments. (Or at last, Fabian says he can…..)

I can’t think of any ship I actively dislike that I’ve been convinced to like. But I have been introduced to ships that I hadn’t thought about before, like Maximus/Namor, or Gambit/Quicksilver, or Unus/Blob. I was already into Sam/Bucky, but fans have got me liking it even more.
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
Things aren’t so bad on Tumblr, but on other social media like Reddit, any time a character in super-hero comics is LGBTQ. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pre-established character coming out, or a completely new character, all the assholes come crawling out of the woodwork to explain why they totally don’t have a problem with gay characters, they just don’t like the way this particular one is written. Every time. There is no winning with these fans. If it’s an established character coming out, then we get “Just make a new character, don’t change an established one!” Even though comics are full of other types of character retcons. Even though creators were restricted in depicting gay characters for decades (and to some extent probably still are), and a lot of meant-to-be-queer characters got straightwashed. Even if it’s a minor recurring character whose sexuality was never previously established. If it’s a completely new character, then they are an example of comics going “woke” and caring more about agendas than storytelling. If the character’s sexuality is not a major part of their storyline, then they’re a token, if it is a major part of their storyline, then the character’s whole personality is about being gay. There is no “right way” to write LGBTQ characters for these fans, because they really just don’t want gay characters in their super-hero comics.
This also applies to just about anytime a character is something other than a straight white dude or a conventionally hot woman. “I just want good storytelling, not forced diversity!” people say about Kamala Khan, a popular and well-written character who has carried her own book with a great supporting cast for years.

Easy Tips to Avoid Accidentally Getting an Offensive Tattoo
Hello! Hi! I'm Ada, your friendly local tattooed person!
I'm sure by now we've all seen the posts of people getting Stranger Things number tattoos without realizing what they look like (ie the codes that the Nazis branded people with) (and for the purposes of this post I will be assuming ignorance instead of purposeful malicious intent), so today I'm here to give some tips on how to avoid accidentally getting a racist/offensive/otherwise unwise tattoo of your own! 😀
1. Research. Before getting any tattoo, use the internet to search "[tattoo idea] tattoo meaning", and read through as many results as you possibly can to make sure the design you're about to get isn't a Russian prison tattoo, or a gang symbol, or a white nationalist code-word.
IRL example, when I was an 18 year old goth kid, I thought I wanted a spider web tattoo. But then I googled "spider web tattoo meaning", and it turned out it was all three of those things! So I got a picture of my cat instead, because my cat was not involved with prisons, gangs, or racism.
2. Ask around. Draw, or pay someone else to draw, a sketch of your idea, and show it to as many other people as you can. Ask them to point out anything unintentionally offensive you might have missed. I don't expect any one person to know every possible offensive tattoo, so it's good to ask as wide a variety of people as you can. Maybe ask online, if you have a online friend group or a forum you trust.
IRL example, my coworker wanted a forearm tattoo of a sailing ship (he is an accountant, not a sailor), and found out that in many circles a tattoo of a fully rigged ship means that the person who has it has sailed 5,000 nautical miles, and was liable to get his butt kicked if the wrong people saw it and thought he was making a claim he couldn't back up. [Ultimately, he got it anyway, but on his chest, where it was less likely to be seen. Not the decision I'd have made, but at least it was an informed choice.]
3. Flash tattoos. Tattoo flash is the pre-drawn designs that you see hanging on the wall of many old-fashioned tattoo parlors, street shops, and temporary tattoo kiosks. Most are of simple, classic, or generic designs, though some artists have more elaborate flash. A lot of older flash is based on Sailor Jerry or Ed Hardy designs, and most flash tends toward American Tradition or Japanese Traditional in style. If you go to a reputable, licensed artist who has flash (and researching an artist is a whole other post), you're pretty safe picking whatever design you like and getting it immediately. No reputable artist os going to risk their reputation by offering racist flash art. (You might still want to run a Google search to avoid the Sailing Ship Butt-Kicking situation, but that's your choice.)
IRL Example: you've probably seen lots of flash tattoos without realizing it. If you've seen a tattoo of two swallows, or a heart that with a name banner, you've seen a flash tattoo.
4. No tattoos. If you don't want to do research into the meanings and associations of your potential tattoo, and you don't want a flash tattoo, the easiest way to avoid getting an offensive tattoo is to just not get a tattoo. If you have no tattoo, you have no offensive tattoo.
IRL Example: My uncle wanted a tattoo, but after 20 years working in the FBI organized crime department he decided too many things were associated with or claimed by different gangs, and just gave up on the whole idea.
Other Notes:
-Someday there might be a tattoo idea you love that you find out is offensive somehow. Do not get the tattoo. Do not think that no one will notice the connotations. Do Not end up like my OTHER coworker, who thought no one would notice the implications of the Rising Sun tattoo he got because it "looked so cool" and then had too spend twice as much money covering up when everyone asked why he had the flag of WWII Japan on his leg.
-Every tattoo is going to offend someone, but there's a big difference between getting a tattoo of slightly raunchy Hair Metal lyrics and getting a tattoo of, like, Nazi symbols. If someone tells you your tattoo idea is offensive, find out why, and do research into whether the association is something you really want to be representing. I'm not here to tell you exactly where to draw the line on how potentially offensive is too offensive, especially since it's going to vary by culture and location, but take some time to really think about what you're committing to before you do it.
