Okay so hear me out: draco as a spy for the order.
He proves himself to the golden trio in fifth year, for reasons I have yet to explain but will figure out soon enough, and runs to Severus during the summer in between fifth and sixth year before he gets the dark mark. Snape calms him down and they figure out what draco wants to do moving forward and what would be the smartest thing to do while keeping his morals in tact. They figure out the spy solution.
So snape takes draco to the order and is like “he should be a spy” and everyone’s like “no 😠” at first but then dumbledore goes “yes 🤓” and everyone goes “yeah we were joking he can join our club 😁” (I’m being funny not serious. I am also seriously minimizing the amount of time all of this will take and the complexity of all of it, but follow along)
Does all of that make sense? You guys obviously can’t read my mind and have no idea what I’m going to do with the characters yet, but this solves a big plot hole that I was trying to figure out a way through.

20 questions for fic writers
Thanks for the tag @rebelrayne! @longbobmckenzie tagged me in the body of hers too so I’ll take it.
How many works do you have on ao3?
82 right now, but I’ve orphaned a few recently
What’s your total ao3 word count?
1,220,982. I’ve got about another 30-40k words in WIP documents right now, so almost one-amd-a-quarter million words 😨
What fandoms do you write for?
Love Island the Game, Too Hot to Handle game, Harry Potter (Dramione exclusive), Romance Club (Heaven’s Secret)
Top five fics by Kudos
Tell Me What You Want (HP)
This Time, I’m Serious
Jaded
Unhealthy
Kinktober 2022
TIL that my Harry Potter fic has overtaken TTIS even though TTIS has more hits.
Do you respond to comments?
Yes! There were a few on TTIS I missed that it would be awkward to reply to because it was so long ago, but I make a point of trying to reply to every comment.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The only sad ending I’ve ever written was the first chapter of Jaded which was originally done as a oneshot.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Welcome To Racers. They got the whole shebang. Love me a happily ever after.
Do you get hate on fics?
Not recently. I’ve had hate for my portrayals of Alex, Lucas, and Suresh. But I haven’t had any nasty anon comments in ages which is lovely.
Do you write smut?
Yeah it's kinda my thing.
Craziest crossover:
I don’t know if I’ve done many crossovers… maybe Bruno and Miri Make a Porno or All I Want for Christmas is You which is a hetero take on Red White and Royal blue?
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but I think I would probably die of happiness.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I HAVE! All’s Fair in Casa Amor was written with my beautiful friends @i-boop-you and @crimswnred !!!!!!
All time favourite ship?
Dramione (new fave) but for LITG? Hard question because our fandom is so built around an MC. But with two canon characters? I secretly love a Bruno/Valentina. Also love Hope/Lucas. They just WORK.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
It’s gotta be Recovery. I have the whole thing planned in my head but I just have no motivation to write it at all. Other than that, I don’t see myself finishing Famous Last Words any time soon. If I was going to finish it I’d take it down and rewrite it to make it fully OF.
What are your writing strengths?
Smut probably, I’m not bad at it. I feel like my narrative pacing is alright, and my prose is decent despite it being really inconsistent.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I rely too much on dialogue. I miss all the little body language bits leading up to an important line that could take it from an ‘aww that’s sad’ to a ‘holy fuck I’m sobbing’. Luckily I have wonderful beta’s who help me with this.
But more than anything, characterisation. Forming a fully fleshed out character before I start the story. I struggle with it. I’ve always felt like I’m more of a storyteller, (a plot person) more than a deep dive into a character’s psyche kind of person. I love reading character driven stories though, but I think it’s something that comes with writing experience. I haven’t actually been writing for that long and I think I’m getting better at it, but it’s still a weak point.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I sometimes forget that people don’t like this. I LOVE it. I do try and use it sparingly though. It’s so nice to see a character conversing with someone in their native language. I try and put the English dialogue in brackets or italics unless it's rather clear what they're saying (like swearing).
First fandom you wrote in?
LITG
Favourite fic you've written?
I, like Sarah, absolutely hate this question. My fics are my children. I like some of them more than others, though (I never claimed to be the world's best mother). But I love them for different reasons.
I love Welcome to Racers because it was my first AU. I loved The Only Two Things because I got to create an entire world, an entire city for my characters (Yes I'm aware Waterford, Ireland is a real place but God, I loved that story so much). TT,IS was the first fic I started and it gave me the friends I have today and the amount of people who tell me it's S4 canon just makes my whole life. Jaded was something different. It was a challenge to myself and I'm so proud of it. Unhealthy has been the most difficult to write, but it's also pushed me the hardest in my development of characters. FLW has been so much fun because I get to dive back into my music roots, urghhhhhh. Love.
I don't care if it's narcissistic. I re-read my fics on a regular basis. They're perfectly tailored to my taste. I love doing a nice re-read and sprinkling in a few extra details with liberal use of the edit button. If there was someone who knew my fics as well as I did, they'd get something a little bit different on every read. Might just be a line or two, might be a thought or a reaction, but I love to add and tweak and tinker with them all.
Love.

Sorry but I’m gonna support the Disney wish movie.
I’m rooting for everyone black.
More Wish, less Frozen 3 & 4
So I want to make it clear that despite the tone of my post, you do not have to not Boycott this film if you want to support original content and black representation. This is an important cause for people and it doesn’t make you suddenly anti-Palestinian or Pro-Genocide to see a single motion picture. You are the only one who knows your own morals. I don’t want it to seem as if I was condemning black people from supporting a film they are experiencing representation in/placing an balance-scale style comparison between the struggles of POC in the world and Palestinians. I fight against the notion some have online that the matter of seeing Wish is just someone “succumbing to capitalism” or “being weak.” It has been seen before how the lack of monetary achievements for minority lead films discredits that representation further. Why do we think it has taken this long for another mainline black Princess after Princess and the Frog? It’s not rocket science here.
It is not my place as a non-Palestinian to say if you are allowed to see this movie. That is a choice you can make after looking at the information. But it should also not be my place to shame people into supporting the movement either. Especially because of the complicated nature of this specific issue. I tried to rewrite this to be more clear in my initial post but for the sake of brevity I didn’t make this point more clear and that’s my fault. I’m going to go in more depth about why I am personally choosing to be so Anti-Disney with my Boycott but I want to make things crystal clear before the cut,
Tumblr media
Disney is not an official Boycott target by the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions Movement(BDS). Disney is a Pressure Target technically not Boycotted but is complicit in Israel's apartheid behavior.
The targets they are listing consumers to Boycott monetarily are:
Siemen
PUMA
Carrefour
AXA
Hewlett Packard Inc (HP Inc)
SodaStream
Ahava
RE/MAX
Israeli produce in your supermarkets
Now, more details about all of that.
So there are two Boycotts currently being implemented against Disney on different fronts.
A joint one with Starbucks, McDonalds, and Disney that seems to have started independently of the. I anecdotally remember there being posts around the week after the first October 7th event. This seemed to be driven mostly by the three companies being
large companies which will notice the impact on their stock going down as an impact of the Pro-Palestine public.
They in some way have publicly Pro-Israel in their support with little acknowledgement for Palestine. And I’m using ‘little’ generously here.
Starbucks Sources for this:
https://www.arabnews.com/node/281313
Above is a fantastic article that looks critically at these claims. And below is one that shows the trend of Starbucks over the years to keep the support their CEO has for the Apartheid hidden.
McDonald Sources
Giving food and support to Israel and nothing to Palestine.
An article detailing the action Starbucks had against its union for posting Pro-Palestine statements, the Meals already discussed, and how McDonalds is trying to just throw humanitarian money at the issue to save face.
But now the main stay of the post.
Initially Disney was joined for this independent three way Boycott because it was a larger media company. More recently they gave 2 million in Humanitarian Aid to Israel.
I don’t want disinformation to spread this is humanitarian aid, yes, but it is only for Israel. Not Palestine. Not the people of Gaza that are being subjected to war crimes. Supporting just the apartheid state and not Palestine is the problem here. Disney is still showing their cards of what they’re supporting.
Now, what about the BDS?
The BDS is responsible for the second Disney Boycott. What is the BDS? The majority of this next section is going to come directly from the BDS website which I recommend people check out for future Boycotts.
BDS stands for Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions and is one of the largest Palestinian-led movements for organizing for spreading awareness. They weaponize these main three types of non-violent pressure to discourage the support corporations have under capitalism for Israel.
Tumblr media
Now, how is the BDS treatment of Disney different than the three way McDonalds, Starbucks, Disney Boycott?
Firstly, they in support for the monetary boycott of just McDonalds. Starbucks is not listed on their updated list and specifically with McDonalds they had this to say,
Tumblr media
Further with regard to Disney it sees it as a Pressure-Target and not a monetary one.
What’s a Pressure-Target Boycott?
Boycotts cannot target everyone all the time, which is why sometimes Boycotts split up their targets into groups to not make the process seem to daunting.
The BDS points out a Pressure-Target as,
Tumblr media
This pressure could come through social media, emails sent to the company, or petitions.
Under this cut I am going to be posting such links to some petitions I think are productive here.
Why is Disney being targeted as Pressure-Target?
Tumblr media
This is Sabra, an Israeli hero from the 1981 who has an extensive plot involving her as an Israeli and the Palestine suppress-oops I meant ‘War’(tell that to anyone believing this started only a few years ago).
Quoting this CNN article of what her first comic was,
The classic 1981 Marvel comic page shows the giant green Hulk, tears streaming down his face as he yells at Sabra, an Israeli superhero and agent of the country's Mossad spy agency. The corpse of a young Palestinian boy, killed in an explosion by apparently Arab "terrorists" at his feet.
"Boy died because boy's people and yours both want to own land! Boy died because you wouldn't share!" the Hulk says.
A few panels later, the woman in the white and blue costume with a Star of David on her chest kneels next to the boy. “
It has taken the Hulk to make her see this dead Arab boy as a human being," the comic says. "It has taken a monster to awaken her own sense of humanity."
It is not my right to speak if this is tone-deaf or not. There are quotes in the article that support this notion but it’s not my place.
Now, why is she important?
Disney is looking to reuse this character for the upcoming Captain America film. This is why it’s considered a Pressure-Target. The BDS lists the problems with this representation down below. They are calling not for Boycotts of films but for online pressure to have this Israeli propaganda dismantled.
Tumblr media
Something not brought up here is that releasing a character with the name of Sabra after the more than a thousand Palestinian and Lebanese Shiite people were massacred. Especially with a planned release date of a week after the incident is in poor taste, even if the name had other contexts surrounding it.
So, do I see Wish?
This is not an easy answer I can give you. This is something you need to come to terms with and also understand, this is no ‘correct’ way to Boycott a business. In my post I strategically underplayed this point to keep the message brief. But as we just saw here, there are two different valid methods of Boycotts against Disney.
If you are choosing to not monetarily give Disney money that is valid with a Boycott.
If you are seeing the movie but giving pressure by @ing Disney’s social media, signing letters, and petitions you are valid with a Boycott.
Both people I presented here are Boycotting against Israel's apartheid. There isn’t a correct form of activism and it was my fault to imply that so extremely before. I am choosing not to see Wish because of looking around at all the Western propaganda around this. Walking through the walls of what I considered a liberal school to saw Israel flags supporting the apartheid state.
But that is my choice.
It doesn’t have to be your non-violent protest journey. Do what you think is right with the information you have. Stay educated, don’t let disinformation spread.
And have a good day/afternoon/night everyone.

Farewell Letters
In my HP rewrite prologue, here, Remus and Sirius find themselves having to raise Harry after Lily and James's death. When they go to Gringotts to discuss Sirius's family legacy, the goblin tells them about the wills of James and Lily, and what they're leaving them aside from their son.
Here is the letter from James to Sirius:
"Dear Padfoot.
You’re reading this letter, so it means I’m dead. If it happened in my bed at one-hundred and fifty, or in a potion accident, ignore it, but if it happened during the War, then I bloody hope I’ve done it before you, or before anyone else could.
I’m sorry, Padfoot, for leaving you, even if I’m happy to be the first to go. When you were fifteen, you became the brother my parents could never have themselves, and I swore I’d be with you till the end. I’m sorry I couldn’t fulfil that promise.
Please, please Padfoot, don’t cry for me. I know you will, you’ll probably hate me too and I understand that, but please, please don’t cry too much. Take care of yourself instead because Merlin knows you’ve always been bad at it. And please watch over Harry for me. I wanted to name him after you, you know? Lily told me you’d be insufferable if I did. Now, I just hope you’ll love him as much as I do. You’re the closest thing to a father he has. You and Moony aren’t allowed to have kids of your own, but maybe—just maybe—he’ll be able to bring you some of the joy I got from being a parent. Don’t look for me in him because he won’t know who I am, but look for me in you, brother, because I don’t regret taking you in, and never will.
I’m sorry for leaving you, but know I love you, Sirius Orion Potter.
With all my love, your brother, James Fleamont Potter.
PS: you never thought I’d sign with my full name now, did you?"

@aglassroseneverfades tagged me in a picrew/uquiz combination, so that's going here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't know if i 100% agree with the quiz but i do like taking care of people, up to a point. beyond that you're on your own, though i can help take care of some of the cleanup.
Tumblr media
@toast-ranger-to-a-stranger tagged me in seven sentence sunday, which is good timing on my part because it is in fact sunday:
Mr O’Hara hums. “You like the rain?” “I don’t like-like it,” Miles begins, then changes his mind. “Well, I like it when I’m inside. Not when I’m stuck in a downpour in the middle of nowhere.” “I don’t think Brooklyn counts as the middle of nowhere.” “I live outside the boundaries of human norms.”
that's seven, right?
Tumblr media
@aspengray tagged me in a 'get to know' tag game:
3 ships you like: miguel o'hara/miles morales, tomarrymort, and uhh the christian grey/anna steele dynamic i invented in my head. they're cute i like em
first ship ever: god. uh. that depends because it's either bella/edward from twilight, or it's... wait no it is just bella and edward, winx... wait no i watched it in dutchl. so yeah either bella/edward or bloom and that teacher guy from season 2 or three. jesus christ what was his deal. he was hot though
last song you heard: i see you by cam ostrom (it changed because i have spent like an hour on this already)
favourite childhood book: twilight

currently consuming: water with syrup
currently craving: nothing. i just ate soup
Tumblr media
@moontearpensfic, @atredys and @goldenzingy46 tagged me in 10 characters, 10 fandoms, 10 tags, to which i have no context but i just assume you pick your favourite of each fandom:
voldemort - harry potter
miguel o'hara - spider-man: across the spiderverse
rikkard ambrose - storm & silence
john winchester - supernatural
bill cipher - gravity falls
rosalie cullen - twilight
geralt - the witcher
sans - undertale
jim - the jrasl original fiction universe
me - irl
in no particular order. i ran out of actual fandoms i like about 5 entries in so forgive me for cheating. link to jrasl for context though, jim is actually a fictional character and i want him to crack me like a glowstick
Tumblr media
@alittlebitofharrypotterinmylife tagged me with yet another get to know tag game, but a different one from the previous two:
last song: crossing the bridge by ólafur arnalds
favourite colour: prussian blue
currently reading: sources on extra virgin olive oil
sweet/savoury/spicy: spicy all the way tbh. i have been craving the burn
relationship status: single
current obsession: miguel o'hara's scrumptious tits. have you SEEN his chest. apparently we were deprived of additional ass which is a travesty but he's still so big that i had to seriously reevaluate my previous love for twinks the second i saw him
Tumblr media
erm yeah. sources for the images used as text breaks are all me. moi. follow me on @itsevansart or whatever, do what you want. i am so glad i am caught up. i think. maybe i missed a few but we'll see <3

Hi! I found your blog through the female rage substack article that you posted and I’m curious about a couple things (so I hope the tone of this ask will read as genuine/non-confrontational etc).
I really liked the article and the anti-gender essentialist content, so I looked through the others and eventually found your jegulus article (which I read and also liked) but I was sort of surprised to see that you are a part of the hp/marauders fandom. For me personally, everything related to that franchise has just been tainted since the whole jkr terf debacle really took off. I was big on hp when I was younger and wolfstar is a ship/dynamic that I enjoyed back then, so I’d probably like your stuff if I were to read it. But I decided some time ago to give any and all hp content the chop, because to me it didn’t feel right to engage with it anymore. So I was just wondering how you feel in that regard, if you don’t mind sharing. I don’t have anyone in my internet content circle that still actively posts about hp and if irl friends still enjoy it then it’s not something we talk about, so I’d just like to know how you juggle the ‘two sides’ in that sense of your trans-positive/anti-essentialist beliefs and fandom content that’s still so intrinsically connected to jkr and her politics. (Also, sorry if you’ve answered a question like this before. I scrolled through your blog a bit, but if yes then not far enough.)
Anyway, hope you’re well and I’ll probably keep an eye out for any future essays on your substack even if I don’t follow you on here. cheers! (and thanks for the “playing the whore” book rec, I’ll be looking into that. a rec from my end would be paul b. preciado's "can the monster speak". it's the written version of a speech he tried to give at a Freudian psychoanalysis conference about the position trans people occupy in psychoanalysis before being booed off stage. it was short and pretty intriguing, in case you're interested/haven't heard of it yet.)
hi! happy 2 hear u enjoyed the female rage essay--i wasn't expecting it to spread as much as it did + had to turn off reblogs for my own peace of mind 2 keep terfs away from my blog, but it's nice to know there are still people getting something out of it. also appreciate the book rec--that definitely sounds up my alley + i'm excited to check it out!
and i'll do my best to answer your question about hp, but i'm gonna put it under a cut because i know this is a contentious topic + i have a feeling my answer's gonna get long--so if anyone doesn't want 2 read abt my conflicting hp-fandom thoughts, just scroll away please xx
so, quite honestly, i'm in agreement with you that the entire franchise is tainted by jkr. the truth is that it was never really my intention to join the fandom--i read a single fic because it went viral on tiktok, then decided to rewrite the fic from another character's pov just for fun. at that point, i hadn't read any other hp fic and had never been involved in any kind of online fandom space, and although i'd read the hp books + watched the movies growing up i hadn't touched them in years + was so far removed from the franchise that i vaguely remembered hearing jkr had said some terfy stuff, but wasn't aware of the extent to which her politics were like. actively and significantly causing real-life harm.
anyway, i'd done a rewrite for fun of another story i liked and had posted it on ao3, and that had received a handful of people commenting + talking about the story with me as i wrote but had remained pretty self-contained + small. i was expecting the same sort of thing with the hp fic i rewrote, but instead someone posted about it on tiktok and it went viral, and then suddenly there were thousands of people reading every ch update and hundreds of comments. like i said, i had never been involved in an online fandom space before, so i sort of awkwardly stumbled into it and tried to figure out what i was doing as i finished up writing the fic. this was at a point in my life where i'd recently moved to a different country and had to go back in the closet after being publicly out for years, and this online fandom space became my only queer community and a bit of a lifeline in that way. i started making actual friends and talking to people + getting more deeply involved in the community aspect of things.
at the same time, i started actually educating myself on jkr + her politics + her impact, and the more i learned the more uncomfortable i became with being part of anything hp-related. now, i've been writing hp fic for almost two years and 'active' in the fandom for ~one and a half, and despite being grateful for the friends i've made and treasuring the space i've been able to cultivate, i've become increasingly disenchanted with 'the fandom' as a whole and have increasingly found it to be a hostile space, so i've sort of taken a step back from broader engagement and more + more have limited my interaction to just my mutuals here on tumblr. unfortunately, i think many of the 'bad parts' of this fandom are somewhat built-in because of the source material; there are a lot of people who agree with jkr's politics to varying extents and that can make it kind of a miserable place to be sometimes. i know many people insist that hp can be completely removed from jkr, but i don't think that's the case, and i've talked on my blog before about the fact that her politics are built into the very foundations of the text, so i think it's necessary to acknowledge her influence if we want to actually engage with hp at all in a way that isn't just perpetuating her politics.
all that being said, the point i'm at currently is that i'm not really sure that this fandom is a space i want to be a part of forever. again--i understand how it can be lifeline for some people and a queer community they might not have elsewhere, because that's been the case for me. but for me personally, as much as i value my own carved-out space, it doesn't completely outweigh the negatives that i have found myself coming into contact with more and more in this fandom. writing hp fic is also something that i keep strictly separate from 'real life,' contained solely in this online space, because i know that any engagement with hp is a red flag for many, many trans people and i don't want to bring it outside of this space. within this online space, i don't keep it a secret that i write hp fic; it's right at the top of my blog so that anyone who wants to can easily block and unfollow me. i only post my fics on ao3, where they are clearly tagged as harry potter fanfiction, and i only post about hp fic + fandom stuff on this blog, which was specifically created for that purpose. i've requested that people no longer post about my hp fics on platforms like tiktok where the algorithm could send it out onto anyone's fyp, and that request is also in my pinned faq. keeping my hp fic as contained as possible to only people who are already engaging with hp fic is one way that i try to mitigate any harm that might be caused by my fics contributing to hp's ongoing popularity.
the other ways i try to mitigate potential harm are by actively discouraging people from giving any financial support to hp + jkr and by being very vocal about my politics on this page, so that anyone who is following me will be getting pro-trans and anti-gender essentialism politics along with any hp engagement. i also don't engage with hp uncritically; i am specifically critical of the shitty politics in the books both in my posts on this blog and my fics themselves. i don't make it a secret that i think the books are politically rotten all the way down through to the foundations.
none of this is to say that there's, like...a Right Way to engage with this content or a set of rules that, if followed, Absolve All Shittiness. this is just an explanation of the personal evaluations i've had to weigh when it comes to deciding how i'm going to interact with content that is fundamentally opposed to my own politics. and again, i don't blame people who think that any amount of engagement is morally untenable and completely block it out. this is a growing source of cognitive dissonance in my own life, and i'm increasingly considering whether/for how much longer i want to continue to write fic + be involved in hp fandom. but for the time being, i'm still here + still writing fic, and i guess my feeling is that any harm that fic causes is a drop in the bucket, and even if i were to stop writing it wouldn't necessarily have a huge impact either way. i'm just some random guy online like everyone else; even though i talk about politics, that doesn't mean that i'm asking to be held up as some sort of moral standard, nor do i think anyone should be expected to be 100% politically perfect in every action they take--like, for me, writing hp fic kind of falls into the same category as like...eating mcdonalds even though i think factory farming is fucked, or buying + wearing makeup sometimes even though i think the beauty industry is fundamentally corrupt, or paying to see the new guardians of the galaxy movie in theaters even though i think marvel movies are us military propaganda. i don't think "no ethical consumption under capitalism" is an excuse to completely abandon any attempt to mitigate the harm our actions might cause, but it does matter to me the way in which someone is engaging with a fundamentally broken/corrupt piece of media beyond simply whether or not they're engaging at all. at the end of the day, it's up to everyone on their own to evaluate where they draw the line on hp, and i am not looking to make that judgment for anybody else considering that my own thoughts + feeling about it are still changing.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
sweet @saintgarbanzo tagged me even though he knows I’ve got but the one lil fic! then it got lost in my drafts. this might be a bit silly but cool to see where I’m starting, maybe. thank you, chickpea! you can find his lovely answers here 🥰
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
just one: Sun Shower!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
5950
3. What fandoms do you write for?
so far just HP, but I’ve got some drafts of other stuff (some SOC, AML, etc) that I may or may not keep working on. I did just cannibalize my favorite line from a wesper wip for a drarry one sooo we shall see
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
haha! sun shower
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do - commenting is probably my most favorite part of being a fic reader, so the comments section is important to me. there’s so much to love out there, and the comments are my favorite place to express it
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
none! don’t think I’m angst guy, really. I have some wips with pining, with complicated family feelings, with hurt, but it doesn’t quite feel like angst. and certainly won’t end that way!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
well, surprise: sun shower has a pretty sweet ending. it feels like a beginning more than an ending, though.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven’t! does it count if my partner is like ‘noooo, abandoning me for the laptop again’
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
hmm, I think my smut is overwhelming and reverent and enthusiastic and honest and probably a little excessive. and WANT. and kinky. once I share some you’ll have to let me know if this is accurate
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
my mind is always thinking in connections, but that usually comes out in AU form (drarry: grace & frankie! parent trap!! the beckhams!! wesper princess diaries 2 AU!!!), rather than like everyone showing up in the same scene. so no, i guess.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
not yet, but I think I would really love this. I feel so much love about other people’s writing and so excited to share in ideas, so I feel like this format would be such a delight for me.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I don’t think I have one all-time, because once I love something I love it forever. so I just keep collecting more all-time favorites. but drarry I feel the most immense about and committed to, which is saying something because there’s very little I love that I don’t love immensely. and to be honest, my commitment to drarry is certainly because I love them as characters, but it is also about the community being so wonderful. so thank you, y’all, it’s really special here.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably never will?
so I had this completely bonkers idea that I call “avada banana tag” which is when someone dies everyone they avada-ed comes back to life, like banana tag. i.e. when Molly kills Bellatrix, we get Sirius back, etc (yes I know that only happens in the movie but bear with me for goofy concept reasons). like, the spell only holds as long as they do? makes it a pretty short-sighted way of killing someone. but that’s as far as the idea goes because it’s so absurd and messy, and I don’t think canon rewrites are something I’d know how to do justice. but I think it’s so funny and fascinating, so if anyone wants to run with it please feel free
16. What are your biggest writing strengths?
100% it’s coming up with ideas. you should see my idea dump document, it’s abundant in there. and maybe description, I hope, and sensory experiences
17. What are your biggest writing weaknesses?
I won’t call it a weakness but I have less experience with plotty things, and get really stuck in dialogue that feels off.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I’m not fluent enough in anything else that I think I could do this myself, but as a reader I really love it, both when I do and don’t understand what’s going on. and I like communicating that they’re speaking in another language without just translating. I think I’d love to incorporate my other languages (spanish and ASL) into fic, and I also love when Draco speaks french. when it’s well done I think it’s so impactful!
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I think it was actually someone else’s OCs, what feels like forever ago
20. What is your favorite fic you’ve written?
the one that’s still in my brain that I think about most days… it’s so very beautiful. I hope one day it makes it out of there!
though I love sun shower too. my first real guy, feels like a big deal, I’m proud of myself for doing it and actually sharing it!
I will tag @elskanellis, @getawayfox, @saintlupin, @rockingrobin69 if you want and haven’t already!!

ao3 fic tag game!
tagged by @nonamemanga @writerrose1998 @cosmic-lullaby @nouklea @therulerofallpotatos @insomniac1994 - thank you lovelies!! 🫶🏻✨
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 10! I think I used to have 20, but I orphaned a bunch of them
2. Whats your AO3 word count? 78,177
3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently, I only write for Wednesday (2022)
4. What are your Top 5 Fics by Kudos?
(Only linking my Wednesday fics. I don’t want to promote my old H*rry P*tter fics so I will name them, but not link them)
i was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere
The Progression
even if it’s just pretend
you know that my train could take you home
no one can hurt you now
5. Do you repond to comments? Yes! I didn’t like 8 years ago, but I do now. I have met a lot of my friends through my comment sections, and I also just like to thank people for stopping by and sending me love!
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Uhhhh no one can hurt you now is pretty angsty and bittersweet. I haven’t finished i was so ahead of the curve yet but rn it’s very angsty.
7. Whats the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Lol probably you know that my train could take you home *wink* *wink*
8. Do you get hate on fics? No, I’ve been very lucky on ao3! I did one time like 10 years ago on fanfic.net and that wasn’t fun. I just sometimes get demands for updates which isn’t “hate” but I would appreciate some patience sometimes…
9. Do you write smut? I dabble on occasion! I definitely don’t feel confident in that department yet so it’s something that I’m still working on.
10. Do you write cross-overs? Not currently, no. I did one time a very long time ago.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, I one time gave someone permission to translate The Progression (I think into Russian?), but I don’t think it ever happened.
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? I have not because I’m afraid of being an unreliable co-writer lol
13. What is a WIP you would like to finish but doubt you ever will? I will never finish my HP wips and I have made peace with that
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Wyler babyyyyy
15. What are you writing strengths? I have been told that I’m really good at writing yearning 🤌🏻 And AUs are kinda my thing
16. What are your writing weaknesses? *sigh* I’m a perfectionist so I’m incredibly slow. I will write and rewrite a paragraph to death before I can move onto another one. It’s just not an efficient way to work, and I’m trying to move away from it and let myself write and then edit later. Dialogue tags sometimes bewitch me.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I respect and admire the hell out of anyone who writes anything in a language that is not their native tongue - all of you are rockstars! I only know English so I don’t see myself writing in another language (more than random words here and there anyway) unless I had a ton of assistance.
18. First fandom you wrote for? HP
19. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? i was so ahead of the curve fills me with immense pride, but I’m also overtly fond of even if it’s just pretend. I guess it’s a bit of a toss up. I also wrote (a loooong time ago) a semi smutty bodyswap HP fanfic that is so weird but I still love it haha.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day? I physically cannot allow myself to consider this as a real possibility lololol
Tagging (I’m trying to think of people I haven’t seen participate yet because I think so many already have!) @chaoticstupiddm @wednesdayandherhyde @katwitchwriting @onlyangelxo @leavesdriftinginthewind (if you don’t see yourself here and you haven’t been tagged yet please consider yourself tagged by me!)

some things i’m currently working on + what they will entail, just in case you’re interested:
my first warriors fanfic piece is in progress. it’s called Oh Starclan, Not Again (much like oh god not again the hp fic) in which starclan makes firestar go back in time before he joins after his death cause they’re a bag of dicks and he’s the cat jesus. i think it’s fun and silly. it’s on AO3 under my pseud sagespirit currently.
my second idea was based on an idea moonkitti mentioned in one of their vids - they mentioned they wanted to see the next warriors series based far off in the future and that sounded dope so i made an au type thing based far in the warrior future. it includes a big old prophecy, a bunch of lesbian medicine cats, and prophecy cats including queens and full grown cats alongside two cute warrior apprentices who will fall in love (and not die or become toxic) so watch out for that. it will be very selfish
and ofc you can’t write warriors fanfic if you don’t rewrite the series so that’s my plan for my third project - it’ll be essentially the same plot as the og but i will change things that made me mad and more selfish choices, such as:
lionblaze is no longer boring and is now the himboist of himbos to ever himbo
hollyleaf is gay (probably for cinder)
names that i think are dumb will be changed (mostly nostalgia-fueled, sorry)
bramble will not be an abusive piece of shit and will actually be a dope husband and father
he will also die/retire earlier cause i want him to
firestar doesn’t have a thing for spottedleaf and loves his wife sandstorm and only his wife sandstorm
they also have more kits than squirrel and leaf cause i think fire would love being a dad
jay is slightly less of a little shit - still sarcastic but his heart is less frozen and his bitterness comes from his love and fear of losing those he loves
when they change the code they will also change the whole med cats not having mates/kits thing cause it’s dumb
starclan ISNT a huge bag of dicks
more death/less useless background characters
useless background characters get personalities
women aren’t vilified for no reason other than for the hatred of women
and more to be determined - those are just what i know so far i want to change
so yeah hope that excites anyone at all and if it doesn’t too bad i’m still going to keep writing it. if it does excite you and you have more ideas feel free to let me know and i just might include them!!

Hey! So I’ve been scrolling through some of your writing advice post and I have a question. I’ve written stuff before and I’m getting back into it and I really want to write a long fic that’s canon compliant but idk how to do that without just like rewriting the story that’s already written ? I always get so focused on making sure that I’m writing true to the existing plot/story, like even down to copying the dialogue and stuff out of the show/book/movie, and sort of push my oc/insert character to the side and they end up making very little contribution to whatever is happening and I wanna not do that anymore haha. Also like a way to outline a long fic bc I’ve never really outlined a story, I just sorta wrote and did what I was talking about before.
Pls if you have any advice I would be very grateful 🙏🙏
hi anon! thanks for your message!
first of all, congrats on getting back into writing, that's awesome! in terms of your questions, here are (some) answers which will hopefully help. i don't know what fandom you're in so i'm taking most of my examples from HP as i assume most people are (somewhat) familiar with the canon, but you get the idea.
I really want to write a long fic that’s canon compliant but idk how to do that without just like rewriting the story that’s already written ?
i don't know what precisely you're trying to write but i've always said this: i think there's a subgenre of fanfiction that many new writers tend to gravitate towards without realising how incredibly hard those stories are to write, and that's stories that happen during the canon timeline. for example: stories made up of missing scenes, AUs of canon events (e.g.: what if Harry was in slytherin? what if Sirius lived? etc.), or stories told from alternate POVs (e.g.: the seven books from Hermione's perspective).
i think the reason why so many people tend to gravitate towards these stories (especially when they're starting out) is that as a newer writer, your imagination is still in "training". there's this idea that writers are just born making up stories in their heads but i think imagination is actually more like a muscle. the more you engage it, the better it gets at venturing further out. so, when you're starting out, it's much easier to answer the question: what if sirius lived? than it is being like: what happened in tom riddle's childhood?
if you're writing to answer the first question, you have a lot of material that is already provided for you by canon. you know about the horcrux hunt, you know about the hallows, you know about harry giving himself up, ect. all you really need to do is what happens at the margins (i.e. how do i integrate sirius into these plot points?) rather than having to reshape an entire story. whereas if you're trying to write about tom riddle's childhood... you know he was in an orphanage. you know he was mean to the other children. and... that's about it. it's pretty much a blank slate from there, and it's much harder to come up with things. canon becomes a crutch to do the difficult plotting parts for you.
the thing that a lot of people don’t realise though, is that under the guise of being “easier” to write (due to the canon crutch), it’s actually much harder to be “original” with the former. because you very quickly end up falling into the trap you’ve just described: rewriting canon. so, your story feels like you’re just copying and pasting events from canon into it, with just a tiny addition at the margins. and taking it further (taking it to a place of true originality) is much harder. it’s definitely doable, but it takes a very skilled writer to actually add real substance and not make that feel stale.
but the thing is: i don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. you say you copy a lot of dialogue/lines from the original material - so what? i definitely did a lot of that too when i was younger. your fic might not be of the best quality, sure, but i think that's a very natural and normal step in your growth as a writer. you'll naturally train your imagination and learn to gradually step further and further away from canon. i really don't think you should be worrying too much about this. just keep writing - you'll get there eventually.
if you do want to speed up the process though, here are a couple things that could help:
set yourself the challenge of writing one short fic without quotes from canon. see how you get on, see where you reach to express those thoughts now that incorporating these is "forbidden" and then try to build on that. you don't need to go for a long fic right away if that's too scary/hard.
challenge yourself to a story where you have very little canon material to go on. say, a story about a side character for instance. i think a good example of that is writing something like listening for that angel choir. i wrote that fic about the child of two of the main characters on the show. we see him a couple times in canon, but we mostly know his parents. the challenge was to try and determine what he and his life would have been like, given what we know of his parents' story. i'm sure there's someone in your fandom that fits the bill. doing this allows you to have a little bit of a canon crutch (knowing the parents well), but still forces you to get out of that comfort zone.
I sort of push my oc/insert character to the side and they end up making very little contribution to whatever is happening and I wanna not do that anymore haha.
i think this might be a different problem though. is it possible that your OC isn't really needed in your story? this happens to me regularly when i make up an OC for something and envision them to be a much bigger character than they end up being, because in the end, they're not really needed. it can be heartbreaking because we love our OCs dearly, but you have to remember that unlike in original fiction, OCs in fanfiction are primarily functional in nature. even when they have their own arc, they (and their arc) should serve your plot/characters, first and foremost. there are a lot of OCs i've built for my fics that end up being in one scene (maybe two) in the end, because that's all they're needed for. it's normal and it's your job as a writer to know when using your OC/or not is useful to your story.
i know i generally don't stand by most of stephen king's writing advice but i do think he's right on "kill your darlings". you do sometimes have to scratch plotlines/characters/etc. you otherwise love, if they don't serve your story.
Also like a way to outline a long fic bc I’ve never really outlined a story, I just sorta wrote and did what I was talking about before.
okay, first - just writing for the vibes is super valid. however, if you do want to start outlining more, here are some tips:
first, i've gone through many methods of outlining. i think the main thing is that outlining should serve you, not the other way around. you should find a method that suits you. if the method starts being a burden, switch it up. one method might only fit you for a limited amount of time. it might fit one chapter, but not another. but so far, since i started writing long fics, i've used the following:
for my first long fic, i had two outlines: one for the general overall plot of the story, and one for specific chapters. the "general" outline was a big-picture outline of big "events" that needed to happen in each chapter, in chronological order. it was kind of a brain dump of all the scene and plot ideas i had. not everything ended up in the final product (or in that specific order), but it was a good "high-level" idea of where i was going. i had this just as a list in my notes app. then, for individual chapters, i followed this method which is closer to a visual storyboard.
i continued with this system of two outlines for the first "act" of castles (my current wip) (chapters 1 through 7). then, for the second act, i felt the need to "formalise" the "big picture" outline more, and moved to a spreadsheet. it looked like this:
Tumblr media
(this is the template i created - it's blank because those are actually act 1 chapters, but you get the idea. i'm using this because some of the act 2 stuff later got moved to act 3 so i don't want to spoil and can't be arsed to redact)
i would fill in, for each chapter, in a few lines, what was happening for each of the categories (if anything). it made it easier to move things around as needed as well. note that this is not particularly chronological. it lists the events by category, but it's not necessarily the order they happen in within the chapter.
then, when it came time to actually write the chapter, i would build the chapter outline on the basis of this bigger outline, and get more granular (and chronological) in the storyboard, then even more granular on the page.
now, for my third act, i've switched to miro (bc of a tiktok recommendation from another writer, but i find that it works really well for me). things are looking like this:
Tumblr media
(for sneaky castles readers -don't try to zoom in - you can't, i've checked)
as you can see, i've done away with the general outline, and only have the storyboard left, but in electronic form. i did have some stuff planned from the old spreadsheet that i moved into here, but i don't feel like i need the spreadsheet as a constant reference anymore. it might be because i'm reaching the end of the story that i don't need the broader view as much. i have, however, created a timeline like this, which i felt i needed to keep track of the big "milestones" of the story:
Tumblr media
(ah, go on, you get the kids' birthdays.)
to give you an idea of the level of detail i go into in these, here is the last couple of chapters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you can probably see if you've read castles, even those i don't follow to the letter. there's a lot of things that get moved around (if you look at that table in chapter 16, you'll see the locations are totally off) and if you look at 17 (the order of scenes changed, and the redacted stuff got moved to later chapters). for 17, i also turned black the sticky notes as i was done writing them, which i didn't do for 16. also, you can see that for a chapter that's *twenty-two thousand words long*, 16 has very little outlined lol. everything was just in my head.
for me, while these (and outlines in general) are essential to the mapping out of a story, it's essential that i remain flexible in terms of what actually goes into the final product. if i'm not "feeling" something i'd planned, i change it/move it.
.
anyway anon, i hope this helped! thanks again for your question!

Okay but can we normalise not always liking your own fics?
Sometimes a fic just doesn’t go how you wanted, or you look back and consider it a poor representation of your writing, or it just fell short of what you wanted it to be. That’s okay. Not fun, not ideal, but okay. It happens sometimes.
I’m not saying I want it to happen to people, because I think it’s a shame when it does on a personal level (and I feel qualified to say this as two of my most popular fics I have genuinely disliked for a long time), but equally it makes sense. A lot of artists dislike some of their pieces.
And yet I never see it talked about in writing circles, or at least not seriously. And some people, when you say you dislike a piece, assume you’re fishing for compliments or that you need reassurance and whilst the latter is well-intentioned it often, I find, doesn’t help, because those flaws or negative connotations are still there. Please note that I’m differentiating, here, between concern/not liking how it is or may be taken by your readers - that is always something that I believe most writers like reassurance on. But that is about the reader, the reception of the writing, not about the actual piece of writing as an entity, and it’s the latter that I’m talking about here. It’s how you personally feel about something that you have written.
So I would love it to be normalised that sometimes when you finish a fic, you just might not like it, and that is completely and utterly valid. I wish it was more openly and seriously discussed, and that there wasn’t any shame, accusations of compliment-fishing, or offence taken from that discussion.
A reader can still enjoy a fic that the writer does not like; by saying that I don’t like X Fic that I wrote, I’m not saying that readers shouldn’t have enjoyed it, it’s just me saying that I’m not personally pleased with how it went. And as lovely as being told that someone enjoyed it is, unfortunately it just doesn’t help, and there’s no way to fix that base issue without completely rewriting, and sometimes even re-plotting, fics, something that most of us don’t have the time or energy to do, particularly if it’s a fic that is negative to even just think about.
Oh, and I feel like I should say that if you’re disliking all of your fics, then it’s likely that you’re not satisfied with a wider element of your writing, be it that you haven’t settled into your style, or that you’re currently growing so much that every time you finish something it already feels poor-quality to you. This is unsolicited advice so feel free to ignore it if you want, but to my experience and what I know of at least a few others, the answer to that is just practice really, hopefully with a bit of experimentation mixed in.
It’s natural, statistically, to dislike a fic or three once you’ve written a fair number of fics (I have two that I severely dislike out of my... 200+ for BNHA, and one of my ~12 HP fics, and a few more that I either dislike chunks of or am ambivalent towards across all fandoms, to put some example numbers on it), and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s a shame, on a level of wanting to be proud of your own works, but half the time it shows your own growth because your writing is now of higher quality, so try not to be too hard on yourself if you do find yourself feeling this way.
Remember, it is absolutely a-okay to not love all of your own fics, and you’re not the only person to feel that way.

HI BACK AT YOU.
What was your whump awakening? Like when you really realized “ohhhhh. I like this.”
Oh boy oh boy. I don’t know that there was ever a specific moment, but a lot of things that started when I was very young. This is very long rip
I was intensely fascinated with torture scenes and concepts - you get exposed to a shocking amount of that even as a kid, bc gore is fine as long as there isn’t a hint of normal human sex involved. Don’t take my card, but I did grow up reading the HP series. The first big book I read was Prisoner of Azkaban, so there was a lot of themes of torture and captivity there.
I also was very fixated on the forms of magical torture utilized, like how Neville’s parents were tortured until they completely broke as people. I made OCs that were cursed with magical pain and torment. I’m showing my weird side fully now but I looooved Lucious Malfoy. I dug the long blond hair and the wicked cane and how mean and terrible he was.
Star Wars was a big one later on, my weirdly piqued interest in Darth Vader being a horrible boss and being referred to as “master” and “my lord”.
Even the Princess Bride Torture scene, I was scared to watch it but couldn’t stop thinking about it.
I started writing a book in middle school that was very whump, although I didn’t have that term or an understanding of that kind of genre at the time. It was an odd plot. Not worth rewriting, but it’s funny to look back. While I was writing, I felt a certain excitement I couldn’t place. The closest I guessed was that I was such an empath that writing it “hurt” me, but that I enjoyed it so much for some reason. Pain was not what that feeling in my stomach was, I guess people here call them whumperflies.
I didn’t know anything about whump until….2020? I don’t even know how I stumbled upon it, but once I started to learn about the community, it was this huge relief like, “oh I’m not the only person who likes this! Lots of people like this! I’m not crazy!”
Been here since!

i'm a fanfic writer who started writing seriously (and a lot) in 2021 and hasn't looked back since. i have way too many drafts and too little works actually uploaded on the holy grail that is AO3.
you might've seen me on FFNet but pretend you didn't :)
i'm kinda antisocial and may come off as cold (hence, the winter empire thing) but I. Am. Just. Shy ! if you wanna interact, interact! i can't promise responding because most of the time i don't know what to say but know that i always appreciate it <3
ongoing projects
right now, I’m working on completely rewriting the two WiPs i had semi-abandoned. It’s My Life is Yours and Distance of Futures (From Mine to Yours). They’re both BKDK and I’m still outlining them.
Warning: to those who’ve read and subscribed to them on AO3, know that I’ll be orphaning them once I finish rewriting. I like to start on a clean slate and the new changes are definitely drastic enough to warrant a new fic entirely.
Progress report on them:
DoF - the rough outline is halfway done but I’ll be refining it a bit more. Not sure how long it’ll be but the chapter count might go for 20 with 4-6k each. Again, no promises there. The story is the same but very different as before so please look forward to it !!
MLY - Ah, yeah, I haven’t started on this at all lol I’ll start on the outline once I finish DoF’s outline.
writing habits
In my early shameful days, I used to do WiPs. I had no outlines to follow and just wrote like the damn wind. Now, I’m a changed person (ish).
I finish writing fics (that’s editing + beta reading) before uploading them on a schedule. This is why I’m technically ‘on a break’ most of the time.
That’s not to say that I’m always writing fanfics. I write original content too so my time is split because of that. What can I say? Writing is how I live.
my ships
BKDK hands-down is my muse. They’re what brought me back to writing and I’ve never looked back. They’re also the ship that has the most drafts in my computer haha
TDBK has also snared my heart several times. Gods, they’re adorable. My fav trope is a sugar daddy!tdrk and a broke hero!bkg
TDBKDK is something I haven’t written a lot for but there’s a lot of potential in it methinks. I don’t like dynamics where tdbk hate each other and bond over their like of dk though… let all three love each other dammit !!
Ehem, now for other fandoms & ships:
HP; Tomarry/Harrymort
TGCF; Hualian
Witcher; Geraskier
MDZS; Wangxian
Genshin; Zhongchi/Tartali
Bleach; GrimmIchi
One Piece; ZoLu
where else to find me
Twitter - sometimes i do threadfics here but I post them on AO3 afterwards as a series
AO3 - my main abode ✌️
between bkg’s pecs ahaha

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants? 🤩 Who is your favorite character to write? 🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
Fanfic Writer Emoji Ask
🦅 - Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
It depends on the fic, honestly!
Sometimes I have a general vibe and then go from there (a lot of the Agave Stuff has been like that) - although even with those, I end up plotting as I go (in terms of - there are future events that I plan on including and more Agathian backstory (there is so much of that actually)).
A lot of times I have benchmarks, kind of like when you're driving across the country and need to know where you're going to stop and get a hotel (roughly) - I might know the beginning and the ending and maybe some middle stuff but not exact etc.
...and then there are major projects like the Roisa HP AU (unfinished and abandoned) or the PMMM/OUAT trilogy (unfinished and abandoned) or the Epic Superhero Crossover (a little too ambitious in scope for me at the moment) or the how many timelines is it Homura fic (nope) or Baby Agatha Series (started! UH) - MY TRACK RECORD ON THESE APPARENTLY ISN'T GREAT, ALAS - that are extensively plotted just due to their scope, to make sure I set things up correctly earlier on (looking at you, seven book HP rewrite that only has one book posted) and to make sure that I remember what I want to put in each fic (these are all multi-fic projects, with the exception of the Homura fic) and to make sure that everything ties together properly.
But even with those extensively plotted fics, I mostly don't have everything chapter-by-chapter (with the exception of the Roisa HP au which...was) and even then it doesn't always stay exactly with those chapters and stuff happens spontaneously and—
Which is to say yes?
🤩 - Who is your favorite character to write?
Right now?
It switches between Agatha Harkness, Eve Fletcher, and--
Actually, it’ is probably second person Agatha Harkness.
Mostly I just really like writing in second person.  (I also really liked writing second person Viola Lloyd, but I haven’t done that in a while.)
(Overall?  Probably Ms. Lint.  Or one of my book characters, Alma Rossa.  I really like writing Alma.)
🤯 - What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
Action.  I know that’s one of the examples, but I’m horrible at writing action scenes.  Horrible.
Also comedy.  I’m shit at writing comedy.
(Also also erotica, but that’s because I don’t write it.  XD)

FAQ
truthfully i don’t get frequent questions on anything (please ask me questions if you want!) but these are things i have been asked at least once:
are you still writing? yes. sometimes i have long gaps, but i’m always coming back. sometimes i also forget to post on here, even when i’m posting on ao3, so it’s always worth checking.
is there an order i’m meant to read your fics in? what is it? kinda, yes, but it’s not compulsory. all my next gen fics (and some non next gen) are set in one universe, and they form a loose sort of series, with a wider ongoing plot. if you want to read all of them in order, start with unforgivable and go on from there. but they also all more or less work as standalones, so you can really dip in wherever, and if you decide you want to know more about the wider story, you can always go back.
what are your pairings? a lot of my fics don’t have one main pairing. some do, and those will be clearly labelled, but i do a lot of canon/oc ships. others are more plotty gen fic, with some romantic nonsense in the background (there’s always romantic nonsense in the background). i basically don’t ship any of the really popular canon/canon next gen ships, which means i don’t get a whole lot of traffic, so that’s sad. also, because it’s a long series covering years, some pairings take more than one fic to come to fruition, and not every pairing you come across in early fics will be endgame. (if i write an entire fic where the focus is entirely on one relationship, though, fair assumption that it’s endgame.)
i read your stuff on ff.net. are they the same stories? yes, more or less. i don’t think i’ll be posting anymore on ff.net, but my goal is to import everything over to ao3, edit, and finish it. there’s a LOT of rewriting going on, though, so you are reading new versions of the same fics. most of the characters, pairings, and plot beats are still the same, but some have changed. most changes are minor; one or two are major. i think they’re better now. there’s also a lot to come in the future that was never published on ff.net.
my fave fic was choices. when is that coming over? it’s not. i’m so sorry. choices lives on in my heart, and i’m not taking it down from ff.net, so you can visit it there if you want. but i came to the hard conclusion that it belonged to a particular moment in time and should stay there. it would need so much work to tidy up, and i’d really struggle to make it fit into the much more coherent set of stories and world that i’m creating on ao3. i have a really excellent alternative ship for lily.
when you say your fics are canon compliant, what does that mean? it means book-canon compliant. my starting point was the first stuff that jkr released after the series was finished, when it was just her website and the interviews she did, so i include that too, but i don’t consider anything else to be part of my canon. the films contradict the books anyway, so i pick and choose from them. and i gave up on trying to follow new info releases around the time pottermore appeared, because there was just too much of it and it kept changing. my fics have absolutely no relationship with the cursed child, because i haven’t read it.
are all your ratings teen? for now, partly because the kids i’m writing about are kinda young and i’m an adult. probably not in the future.
final note (not a question): i’ve been writing hp fic for a very long time, and i’m still here because i wrote a whole world i don’t want to abandon. i stand 100% against jkr’s transphobic beliefs, and a number of her other beliefs too.

My Immortal: The Rewrite Project
Buckle up. This ‘bouta be a long post.
One day I woke up and thought it’d be a great idea to take the infamous Harry Potter fanfic, “My Immortal” by Tara Gilesbie, and polish/add to the first chapter so that it grammatically and canonically makes sense. I haven’t done the whole thing yet because I want to see how people react to the first chapter being rewritten before going ahead with rewriting the whole thing.
Due to my personal discomfort with writing about certain themes present in the original, rewriting the entire fic would include the removal of the following:
- Anything and everything related to the worship of He Who Must Not Be Named (And I’m not talking about Voldemort). - Sexual content - Pedophilia (I’m not about to do Snape and Lupin like that)
Suicide references would also be kept to a minimum and not romanticized in any way, though I wouldn’t be getting rid of them altogether.
In addition, many drastic changes would be made to the plot itself since I want this rewrite to be as readable as possible. This means, among other things, that Dumbledore would be long dead, and Harry would not have a thing with Ebony since he shows up so late (the rewrite would most likely be Draco x Ebony and Draco x Ebony alone, though Ebony at the very least suspecting that Draco is bisexual isn’t completely out of the cards). A full list of changes would be provided with the full version.
That said, I’ve provided the rewritten first chapter below so those interested can get a taste of what a rewrite would look like. It’s not perfect, but I hope you enjoy reading it anyway:
(Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or the original My Immortal. All rights go to J.K. Rowling for anything related to the original HP franchise, and to Tara Gilesbie for anything exclusively introduced in the fic. Also, as much as I love Harry Potter, I promise I do not claim J.K. Rowling or her transphobic views).
Edit: The spacing between paragraphs was looking a lil’ funky on my phone, so I tried to fix it, made it worse, then reverted it back on my computer. Thus, I apologize in advance if the spacing is a bit inconsistent on mobile.
My Immortal: The Rewrite Project
Rewrite by Fanfic Blurbs Original by Tara Gilesbie (Edited by “Raven”)
(I had a link there, but my posts aren’t showing up in the tags, so I removed it. Just search up “My Immortal Harry Potter” or something like that and you should be able to find a reposting of it somewhere.)
AN = Author’s Note (Fanfic Blurbs)
OAN = Original Author’s Note (Tara Gilesbie, grammatically altered)
Chapter One: Lost in Conversation
Trigger Warnings: Mentions of blood and dystopia
AN: To clear up any confusion over how past and present tense are used, let’s just assume Ebony’s writing this story just after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Edit: Fixed a plot inconsistency.
OAN: Special fangs (get it, because I'm gothic?) to my GF (ew, not in that way), Raven (bloodytearz666), for helping me with the story and spelling. You rock! Justin, you're the love of my depressing life. You rock too! MCR ROCKS!
Have you ever wondered how a gothic vampire girl would fare at a magical boarding school full of preps and borderline psychotic teachers? If so, you’ve come to the right place. If not, too bad. I’m telling the story anyway.
My name is Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way. I have pale white skin, long ebony black hair (that’s how I got my name) with purple streaks and red tips that reach my mid-back, and my eyes are icy blue, like limpid tears. Many people tell me I look like Amy Lee from Evanescence (Shout out to Ginny for that compliment!) (OAN: if you don’t know who she is, get the h*ll out of here!). For those wondering, no, I’m not related to Gerard Way, but I wish I was. He’s a major f*cking hottie, and I know that’s kind of Sweet-Home-Alabama of me to say, but, like, c’mon. Have you SEEN the guy?!
I’m a goth, in case you couldn’t tell. Because I am a goth, my closet, for the most part, is filled with black clothing. I love ASOS (The British version of Hot Topic) and I buy all my clothes from there. On the day this story takes place, I wore a black corset with matching lace around it with a black leather miniskirt, pink fishnets and black combat boots. That said, I only changed into that after changing out of that stupid school uniform I’d been forced to wear for the past, what? Seven years? Of course, I wore black lipstick, white foundation, black eyeliner, and red eye shadow on my face the entire day, since makeup somehow didn’t defy the dress code in any way.
I’m a vampire, but for some reason, I don’t have fangs. In fact, my teeth are actually straight and white. I’ve been told it’s some sort of... Genetic mutation, I guess? Either way, most vampires have fangs, but for some reason, I don’t. Due to my lack of fangs, I’m unable to consume blood in the traditional way. Instead, I have to buy bottled blood from “Supernatural Essentials” in Hogsmede every so often to stock the blood bottle cooler in my dorm.
On top of all of this, I’m also a witch. Every year on September first, my classmates and I travel from England via train to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland. We learn about spells and sh*t for ten months, then go back home on June thirtieth. I’m in my seventh year there (Needless to say, I’m seventeen), so after the year ends, I won’t have to go back. Six years ago, they sorted me and the rest of my year into one of four houses: Gryffindor, for the crazy, stupid popular kids who think they’re the main f*cking character all the time, Hufflepuff for the major softies, Ravenclaw, where most (but not all) of the preps go, and Slytherin for the edgy kids who mysteriously end up turning evil after graduation. Even though I have no intention whatsoever of turning evil after Hogwarts, I wound up getting sorted into Slytherin. Fitting, isn’t it?
The summer prior to my seventh year, the Ministry of Magic fell to some evil dude without a nose named V-o-l-d-e-m-o-r-t (Saying his name summons his minions, the Death Eaters, for some reason, so I’m not taking any chances on writing it. He’ll be referred to as No-Nose from here on in). Because of this, everyone who wasn’t in Slytherin got sh*t on all the time by our new Death Eater professors (F*ck you, Carrow Squared. You know what you did.). Defense Against the Dark Arts class became Dark Arts class, students were forced to harm each other, muggle-borns were banned from attending classes and overall life at school had become prison-like. When I said I wanted death and despair in my life (Y’know? Because I’m gothic?), wizard dystopia was far from what I had in mind. Of course, I hardly ever got the brunt of the abuse because of my house and the blood status of both my parents (they’re wizards too. Vampire wizards, but wizards either way.)
One crisp Friday afternoon in mid-November, I decided to take a walk outside on the school grounds since I had just finished my classes for the day. Long walks around campus brought me solace in times like these. It was cloudy, so there was no sun, which I was very happy about, though I put an umbrella in my bag just in case the sun decided to show. I noticed several preps staring at me as I walked past. I stuck my middle finger up at them. They were always so judgy. Especially Lavender Brown. I hated her. Like, girl, chill the f*ck out. Ron’s not gonna take you back!
Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah, right, my walk through campus.
So I was casually walking around the school grounds flipping off the preps who had the audacity to stare for too long when I heard someone call out to me. “Oi, Ebony!” shouted the voice. I turned around and saw the likes of - wait for it - Draco Malfoy (!) walking toward me.
Draco Malfoy. How does one even describe Draco Malfoy? Personally, I would describe him as a tall, slender guy with sleek white-blond hair, chilling grey eyes, and a pale face with sharp, pointed features. Some people found him very - and I mean VERY - good looking, myself very much included.
When we first met in year one, I assumed he was one of the preps right away; his arrogance and sharp clothing choices were very clear indicators of that. That said when you share a common room with someone for six going on seven whole years of your life, you get to know them pretty well, whether you want to or not. Upon getting to know Draco, I discovered that we had a fair few things in common, our mutual love for dark clothing and punk rock being one of them.
I developed feelings for him two years prior, while we were both a part of the Inquisitorial Squad ran by our former DADA teacher/temporary headmistress, Dolores Umbridge (she treated us Slytherins half-decently, so I figured it would be best suck up and join her little club, as much as I hated her and her preppy ways). Draco had just broken up with his ex-girlfriend, Pansy Parkinson - or as I liked to call her, “Pansy Prepinson” - at that point, so my emotions flared up just in time.
“What’s up Draco?” I asked as I let him catch up to me.
“Nothing much,” he responded, “just getting harassed by Weasley again.” For context, Ginny Weasley (The younger sister of Lavender’s ex, Ron) was the youngest of seven kids, and the only girl born into the Weasley family since forever ago. She wasn’t one of the goths, but she definitely wasn’t a prep either. Her allegiances lay somewhere in between the two groups. Though I never had any major problems with her as a person, She and Draco never seemed to get along.
“What happened this time?” I inquired. Draco and I were close enough to be able to talk to each other about anything, and I loved listening to his funny little rants.
“Ugh, don’t even get me started!” He scowled, “So that little rat she calls a pigmy puff, right?”
“That fluffy purple thing?”
“Yeah, that. I was simply minding my own business when it got into my pant leg and made an attempt at running up my leg!”
“And I’d assume Ginny wasn’t that much help?”
“No! She just laughed at me. I told her to learn to control her little rat, and do you know what she said?!”
I raised my eyebrows, metaphorically at the edge of my seat. This was becoming the most interesting and comical story I’d heard in a while.
“She said - and I sh*t you not - ‘Maybe learn to control your father’s co-workers, and then we’ll talk.’” He continued.
“Oh, sh*t!” I exclaimed, “The twins weren’t around to hear her, were they?” “Thankfully for her, they weren’t, but I can only imagine what would’ve happened if they were,” Draco paused before saying what he always said after something didn’t go his way, “Just wait until my father hears about this one.”
“She’ll be up the creek for sure,” I hypothesized.
“Oh, yeah, most definitely!”
We walked and blissfully chatted about random things we’d heard and witnessed during the day until eventually, I heard my friends call me over. Knowing they needed me, I bid Draco good day, and we parted. If I had it my way, we would have talked for a whole lot longer, possibly losing track of time.
Maybe next time, I thought as I joined my friends under a large tree.
OAN: Is it good? PLEASE tell me! Fangs!
AN: Now comes the big question: Should I try rewriting the whole thing? if you want me to proceed with this project despite all the changes that would need to be made for both personal reasons and plot coherency, please let me know. It would take a while because of all the changes that would need to be made, but I’m willing to do it if you guys want me to.
Thanks (or “fangs”, LOL) for reading!
