Can you imagine how fucking angry Neil was when he heard Jean say “So Drake’s not a biter then.”

Because I can.

In that one sentence Neil learned 2 things.

1) That Jean was sexually assaulted

2) What he (Jean) went through was something akin to what Andrew went through with Drake.

I also think that reminded him of everything (that he knows) Drake did to Andrew. I think it reminded him of the time when Drake ambushed him and was paid by Riko to do so. I think it reminded Neil that both of those bastards got of way too fucking easily.

I think Neil put a hit on Grayson not only for Jean, but also for Andrew, Kevin, himself and anyone else who was hurt by Riko, Grayson and Drake (that last one might be a stretch but you get my point).

I think Neil felt so angry and helpless at that point and when he was presented with an opportunity to properly get rid of someone’s abuser, he took it.

Rereading the original trilogy after TSC is really funny:

Don't be ridiculous Andrew, he's saving that money to put out hits on rapists

And when you think about it, this is really heartbreaking. He’s so good at following the rules of people he cares about because he had to walk on eggshells around his father. When he was with his father it was do or die. If he said or did the wrong thing, he would face serious repercussions. So it makes sense that he’s quick to learn peoples boundaries because boundaries was a pivotal part of his survival when he was young and still learning how the world worked.

Of course Neil Josten, who understood Andrew's way of thinking and operating on promises and games quicker than anyone else, was able to wholly understand Jean's coping mechanisms to find a loophole that allowed him to live. This is the Neil who had to think fast every time he wanted truth out of Andrew because the other would never answer to or accept smalltalk. Neil knows what he's doing and he is so good at following the rules of those he cares about for their benefit

I need a scene where Jeremy gets drunk and starts highlighting jeans face because Jean is important

These two lines of dialog have altered my brain chemistry

“Kevin saw nothing but the court, but Jean had stopped hoping for more than that years ago.”

Knowing Kevin begged Riko to be a history major with him, I bet classes were hell for him (riko) after Kevin left.

nora going from writing an ace-spec main to a (probably allosexual) bi main, and the difference is so chef's kiss. they're both disasters don't get me wrong, but jean having attraction in his inner monologue even with the trauma he's been through implies to me that neil's demisexuality has absolutely nothing to do with his trauma. hilarious in retrospect because, if i remember correctly, neil in his inner monologue basically blames his lack of sexual attraction on his mother's abuse the few times he kissed girls when he was on the run, but he doesn't have a single sexual thought until andrew lets him in on his feelings in book three,,, meanwhile jean's out here actively fighting his bisexuality like his life depends on it (he thinks it does) (he'll learn it doesn't eventually)

The fact that I just got emotionally fucking wrecked by tsc this weekend and have to prepare myself for ttpd by Friday should be a crime
