My thoughts on the Wicked movie teaser trailer... so far.

Before you pop off in my replies and reblogs yes I know, this is just a teaser trailer and not the official tralier. Regardless that doesn't give this movie a magical critique pass. Most of my critques on this teaser come from my own thoughts and some of points raised in this post. This is also just me rambling into the void. Don't like don't read lmao.

If you've been following me for a while, then you already know my opinion on the Wicked movie and casting. Surprise surprise, you guessed it... I am extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. For so many reasons.

I'll start off with some things I like.

Johnathan Bailey is hot asf as Fiyero. (even if he looks way older than Fiyero is canonically meant to be)

The set and props. I think some of them actually look pretty neat. I'm glad they didn't use a green screen for Shiz and put in the effort to build a university campus. The train from Shiz to Oz looks kinda dope. I was always wondering what it would look like and I'll probably use that as inspiration for my fics and art comms.

Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard. I won't lie, I haven't seen a lot of movies with Jeff in them so I was cautious about his casting. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much his look and his performance so far actually fits Oscar. Time will tell if he can hold up to those standards.

I'm happy a WOC is playing Elphaba. Everyone complains about Fiyero not being racially book accurate but nobody talks enough about Elphaba being discriminated against as an amalgamation for rac!sm. More women of color should play her on stage.

THE NAILSSSS. Come on people this is the Wicked Witch of the West we're talking about she should be SERVING WITH THOSE CLAWS! Although personally I would've preferred them sharp but I'm over here with almond arylics what do I know lol.

I'm happy they casted a disabled actress to play Nessa. I always wondered why they never did that.

With that out of the way, let's get into a million reasons why I hated this trailer and why I'll most likely hate the movie anyways.

Arianna as Glinda. Look, I don't hate Ari. I like some of her songs and even bought some of her perfumes because I like smelling good. At worst I just don't care about her. However whenever I see Arianna as Glinda, I'm sorry I just don't see Glinda, I see ARIANNA GRANDE dressed in last minute cosplay for a Halloween party. I heard one line... ONE LINE from her and the delivery is NOTHING like Glinda's character or cadence, it's just Ari in drama class.

The wigs and costumes. What the hell was the makeup and hair crew thinking when they selected that wig for Arianna???? It's an ashy dull blonde that brings no color or life to the character. The #1 thing about Glinda is her vibrant blonde hair, it's even mentioned IN THE SONGS. MULTIPLE TIMES. This wig looks like a botched bleach job. Then, there's the costumes. Good lord what are those glasses on Elphaba's face??? I get they're trying to be all "whimsy" and "peculiar" in tone with WOZ, but they just look silly. Why not stick to the glasses in the musical? Why overdo it? I fear how the Emerald City sunglasses will look (if they even add those in) Also why are Glinda's clothes so dull? Where's the vibrance? Where's the pink frilly coquette contrast to Elphaba's dark coquette?

The camera work and Elphaba's entrance. This is Wicked the musical. I'm expecting a huge and grandiose presentation, especially when it comes to THE MAIN CHARACTER. Showing Elphaba from the back of her head in slow motion while she's walking to the entrance is just... boring and an overused cliche. Not to mention the underwhelming reactions from the extras. The cinematography is just meh. I'm expecting better for a fantasy film. It's been done before.

Cynthia as Elphaba. Listen, Cynthia is a great singer and talented actress. I have absolutely nothing against her. With that being said I'm going to be brutally honest: much like Arianna, she is not Elphaba... at least not entirely. Like Johnathan, Cynthia is way older than Elphaba is meant to be canonically and the editing team clearly used the de-aging filter on her to the point where it looks unnatural. If this movie had been made at least five years ago or earlier Cynthia would've fit perfectly.

Continuing my point with Cynthia: the singing. I'm sorry but what the hell was that riff with Defying Gravity??? I'm not entirely blaming Cynthia for this because this has become a massive problem with a lot of musical film adaptations which I like to call the popification of songs. It happens in nearly all the live-action Disney movies and I'm sick of it. What confuses me is STEPHEN FUCKING SCHWARTZ is involved in the musical production. He wrote the god damn songs, how the hell does he not direct Cynthia to sing the right note instead of letting her do whatever she wants??? I don't think he did that with Idina, which is why this riff is so iconic. Come on, if a tiktok meme trend can do that riff better and more accurately than an actual singer can, that's just embarrassing. I'm not good at explaining myself in terms of singing, so I'm hoping a youtuber I occassionally watch does a reaction video to the trailer and does a better job at explaining than I can.

The acting. Like I said with Arianna, the delivery is so bland and dry. I'm trying not to judge all of the acting on a teaser trailer but if this is how the leads are going to act throughout the whole movie then I'm disappointed.

Too much CGI in some parts. I get it. This is a fantasy movie there's bound to be certain effects you can't do practically. But that's no excuse when this is a $145 million dollar movie. The flying monkeys are so painfully obvious CGI. This was a wasted chance to get Doug Motherfucking Jones to play Chistery in prosthetics. So much of this movie ends up looking like those garbage Oz spinoffs. (If you know you know) The CGI is just bad. The bubble and Emerald City buildings look so cheap.

WHY IS THIS MOVIE SO DARK? This is suppossed to be OZ! Why do I have to turn up my brightness to look into the shadow realm???

Now onto some things I'm confused about.

Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible. I'm praying to god she'll blow us away because she's such a good actress and is serving c*nt in her costumes. I haven't heard her sing (I'm dumb but unless the opera song she sang in EEAAO was her then WOW!)

The silver slippers. I KNOW! I KNOW! The ruby slippers are copyrighted and can't be thrown in all nilly willy wherever you please. But keep in mind this is a 145 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE ALL FOR PART ONE. Do not tell me they couldn't shill a few extra bucks on signing a few contracts. AND YES I KNOW. The musical uses the silver slippers in the first act in ode to the L. Frank Baum books which I love, but don't forget, they turn red when Elphaba enchants them to give Nessa the ability to walk. Dorothy shows up after Nessa is killed and has her shoes stolen. Why aren't they red now? Not to mention most of the audience might not know the original slippers in the books were silver. This would've been a great chance to combine two different canons.

Finally, why did John Chu absolutely insist on this being a two parter movie with a year long intermission? Is this shit show really that fantastical that it can be akin to Kill Bill part 1 and 2?

That's pretty much it for now but expect an update to this post with a reblog with updated thoughts when an official trailer drops. My mind probably won't change though. I'm totalllllyyy not considering pulling an Eddy Burback sneaking into Morbius for a week when this movie comes out lol.

Universal Studios and AMC theaters that was a joke please for the love of god do not send Nicole Kidman after me.

Something About Books and Covers - Eddie Munson

Eddie is a metalhead. I'm a metalhead. We're perfect, right? Right. Anyways, I sat down and wrote this for almost 3 hours straight with only one bathroom break...I don't expect this to pop off lmao

Warnings: Possibly triggering content, bullying (physical and religion based cause metal music was considered of the devil in the 80s) , very fluffy in the beginning, very angsty in the middle, then back to very fluffy, and very slight spoilers for S4 i guess? But not really.

Eddie was ecstatic. Metallica was finally coming to Indiana and there was no way he was missing this tour date. No way in hell.

It was on a school night, but he couldn’t care less. He’s skipped school so many times already so he didn’t care that he'd miss a couple days, it wouldn’t make much difference anyway, he knew he would already have to repeat the grade regardless. So why not?

He hadn’t seen Metallica before, never having the money or transportation to take him to one of their concerts, but finally having a driver's license and having saved up some money from summer jobs, he would finally be able to see one of his favorite bands.

He was talking to his friends about how excited he was about it. He wore a smug grin when they expressed their jealousy. He was a little disappointed that none of his friends could go with him, but he also didn’t mind going to the concert alone. Besides, it’s not like he’d be paying attention to them during the set anyway. Driving home would be the worst part because he just knew that he’d be exhausted after the fact. But something his friend said suddenly caught his undivided attention. “Sorry, can you repeat that please?” Eddie voiced.

“I said, I heard a rumor that Y/n girl was going to that concert tomorrow night too. I heard some of her friends talking about it at their lockers.”

Eddie scoffed. “There’s no way. I mean, look at her, she looks like she listens to Cyndi Lauper or Madonna or some shit.” He chuckled. “That girl wouldn’t be caught dead at a metal concert.”

“I don’t know, man. Her friends seemed pretty upset about it.”

“Dude, I bet my life savings that there’s no way she is going. It’s impossible. She goes to Harrington parties dude, trust me, it’s just a rumor.”

As Eddie got ready for the concert that next day, he couldn’t help but think about what his friends were talking about. He also couldn’t help but laugh. Picturing you at a metal concert was a hilarious thought. You’d stick out like a sore thumb. For Eddie, he wouldn’t even go near a concert that wasn’t metal, they’d probably stone him to death or something. He scared people, he made them uncomfortable, just by being himself. It was bullshit.

Eddie quickly shook those negative thoughts out of his head, he was not going to go into a mindspace that would put a bummer on his whole night. He turned up his radio all the way and belted out every song that came on his mixtape, trying not to get into a crash from headbanging.

He made sure to get there early, hence skipping school. He needed to get a good spot, hopefully near the front at the barricade. That would be a dream. But this was the first time Metallica ever had a show in Indiana, so there were a bunch of people who even camped outside the building. Yeah…these were Eddie’s people. Didn’t see you in the line though. He didn’t know why he was looking, it’s not like he wanted you there, he was just really curious.

As everyone started to pile into the venue, he felt the nervous excitement bubble up in his chest, almost like the time when he got his first tattoo, but this was obviously different. This was excitement to see a band that inspired him, that he looked up to, a band that made his life significantly better. He’d remember this night forever.

Eddie cheered along with the rest of the crowd as the opening band came on, he knew a couple of their songs but he was really only there for Metallica, but he’d enjoy himself regardless. And he got a pretty decent view considering the larger crowd, and his height helped. He felt bad if anyone behind him was shorter, he’d absolutely hate it if he was behind a taller person. There was this one kid behind him, holding a sign that said it was his first concert. That warmed Eddie’s heart, he couldn’t not let the kid move in front of him.

From his new spot, he could still see the stage pretty well, so he was thankful for that. But the new spot also gave him a chance to have a better look around to see who was in the crowd. It’s not like he wanted to people watch, he had that done to him too many times already, but he did like seeing who else was in the crowd to see who he could be friends with if they looked interesting enough. But one person only really stood out to him.

Eddie couldn’t believe what his eyes were seeing. It must’ve been a hallucination, right? There was no way you were at this same concert. You, miss straight A’s and future valedictorian and member of the student council, were at a metal concert? On a school night? Eddie must’ve been dreaming because there was no way someone like you would be in a place like this.

Eddie pinched himself a few times, almost breaking his own skin, but he was still not waking up. Damn…he wasn’t dreaming.

You couldn’t have been there of your own volition, he decided. You must’ve been dragged here by a boyfriend or best friend…or it was a dare. But from where Eddie stood, it looked like you were having fun. You were even dressed in a slightly different getup, not completely far from what you normally wore in school, but enough that you didn’t look too out of place. But to everyone else, you probably looked like you were in your element. They didn’t have the knowledge Eddie did.

It’s not like you were one of those stereotypical popular girls, he never saw you be mean to anyone or partake in the bullying of nerds and outcasts like the jocks. Granted, you weren’t a jock, but you were still a popular. You were actually pushing people around on the outskirts of a mosh pit with a huge smile on your face, the biggest smile he’d ever seen you wear. It was kind of…attractive. He had a hard time paying attention to the opening bands, he was so enthralled watching you in his preferred environment. He didn’t know why, but he felt a bit of pride even though he didn’t really know you. Maybe he’d have to change that.

While the stage crew set up Metallica’s equipment, Eddie pushed through the crowd to get where you were, apologizing to every person he pushed past until he finally was next to you. “Well, well, look who it is. I didn’t expect to see you here.”

Your eyes widened in excitement, wearing that big smile like you had been earlier, it made Eddie’s stomach feel like it was doing somersaults. “Oh, hi! Eddie, right?” You replied. Well, he definitely didn’t expect you to know his name.

“Uh, yeah.” Eddie cleared his throat nervously. “What’re you doing here?” He tried not to sound accusatory, but that edge was still in his tone. He didn’t want to come off as an asshole, but this scene was important to him and he didn’t want someone who didn’t enjoy the music to spoil the atmosphere.

You caught on to his attitude immediately, raising an eyebrow. “Same reason why you’re here, I’d assume.”

“Mm, sorry that I kinda doubt that.”

“Oh, and why is that?”

“Well, you’re…you. Popular, straight A student, someone who hangs out with people that makes fun of people like me.”

“Oh, so, people who do well in school can’t possibly like this kind of music right?”

Eddie winced, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “Well, no…it’s just, I never expected you to like this kind of music.”

“Don’t judge a book by its cover. You of all people should know that, right? Or is everyone right about you, that you’re a devil worshiping freak?”

“Alright, alright. I’m sorry. I got a little protective. This is my safe space and I was just worried you’d…ya know, ruin it or something.” Eddie mumbled, fidgeting with the ends of his hair, then holding out his hand. “Truce?”

You stared at his hand for a moment before rolling your eyes with a smirk. “Yeah, okay, truce.” Taking his hand, you almost shivered at the cold metal of his rings that lined his fingers. You had always thought he was attractive, the jock types never really interested you, but Eddie was interesting. There was just something so alluring about him. The rough start was more than a little concerning, but at least he apologized.

Nobody really knew that you were a metalhead, it was something that you kept on a need to know basis. Hearing society’s opinion about metal music didn’t really make you comfortable to be open about it. Almost everyone thought people who listened to metal were a devil worshiper or a serial killer. You had heard people talking about how Richard Ramirez listened to heavy metal and that must be why he was going on a killing spree, though it was mostly middle aged Christian women you had heard talking that way, but it still wasn’t very reassuring.

You always admired Eddie from afar, but you were always too afraid to talk to him, even about the similar music taste. He seemed nice enough, but then again, you both were from two completely different worlds. It just didn’t seem likely to happen. You had always planned to go to this concert, and when you found out that Eddie would be too, you felt like the stars aligned. Even if you never saw him in the crowd, you would be happy to know that he was at least in the same building as you, as creepy as that sounds. But when he actually made an effort to talk to you, it was almost as good as being at the concert.

After the truce, you both got to talking before the headliner finally played. You actually had some common interests. Eddie played the guitar and you had always wanted to, he said that he could try to teach you sometime, which was unexpected. You hoped the dim lighting in the building would hide your blush, but you could see a smirk on Eddie’s face in the corner of your eye. Thankfully, the lights completely dimmed and the stage lights coming on signaling that Metallica was finally coming on saved you from further embarrassment.

And out came Metallica, James Hetfield front and center in all his glory. It was a real starstruck moment, for both you and Eddie.

Every once in a while, you and Eddie would glance over at each other, huge smiles on both of your faces and slightly sweaty from jumping around and singing to the tops of your lungs. It was surprisingly intimate. You loved seeing Eddie in his natural habitat, you could tell how much this concert meant to him. It was really a sight to behold, if your eyes weren’t on the band you were looking at Eddie. The same thing could be said for him as well. Eddie didn’t know how to handle seeing you like this, it was a fine line between surprise and arousal, he didn’t know if the scale would tip by the time the night ended.

You and Eddie laughed as you both were squished together by the force of the crowd, the only way for him to be truly comfortable was for him to wrap his arm around your shoulders but you didn’t mind. It actually felt nice, despite the humid heat that enveloped the whole crowd, making your exposed skin stick to his leather jacket. Sometimes you’d stumble onto him, but he always made sure to never let you fall. You were grateful that he was your tall person that saved you from being crushed by crowd surfers, making sure your head was ducked before he’d help the person. You got kicked a couple of times, but it was no big deal. You were sure you’d have bruises by the time you got home.

As the band started playing their encore, you and Eddie held onto each other and sang along as loud as you could, knowing all the lyrics by heart. The two of you weren’t each looking at the band, you both were practically singing to each other. Your mouth was so sore from smiling so much, and you could tell that you wouldn’t be able to talk properly after singing for so long.

As Metallica said goodnight and walked off the stage, you felt the post-concert depression already kick in. It was over all too soon, but it was in part because you and Eddie probably wouldn’t even talk to each other after this. You didn’t want that to happen. You wanted to have someone who would go to concerts with you. You didn’t really feel like any of your other friends truly saw you. Music was important to you, and someone like Eddie would understand that. You’ve only hung out with him for a few hours, not even talking to each other, but you already felt closer to him than anyone else.

Eddie kept his arm around you as you both walked out of the building with the rest of the crowd, the cold air instantly making the sweat on your skin feel freezing. You knew you should’ve brought a heavier jacket. He noticed you shivering and he quickly removed his own jacket, putting it around your shoulders. The inside of the jacket felt like a warm blanket, encompassing you and the scent of sweat mixed with cologne filled your nostrils, Eddie’s scent. It brought that blush back to your cheeks, but at least you could blame it on the cold air this time.

“So…do you have a ride home? Or did you drive here?” Eddie asked after a beat of awkward silence.

“Oh, I was just gonna hail a cab. I just had a family member drop me off.”

“I drove here, I can give you a ride.” Eddie pointed to his van that was parked in the lot outside the venue. “It’s pretty busted up, there’s no air conditioning or heat, and it makes this weird clanking noise sometimes...but it’s something.”

“Yeah, it’s something.” You giggled, wrapping his jacket around you tighter. “Can I keep wearing the jacket?”

“Yeah. Yeah, of course! Can’t let you freeze to death now, can I?” He grinned, tugging you by the jacket sleeve to lead you to his van.

It was still really cold inside the van, but now being alone with Eddie, you felt the heat from your blush all over your body. You tried not to wince as the van’s engine rattled loudly as he started the vehicle, it definitely sounded like it was crying out for a tuneup. Hopefully it wouldn’t die on the way back home. You told Eddie your address, thankfully it wasn’t too far out of the way. It wasn’t on the wealthy side of town, but you didn’t live in a trailer park like Eddie, it was someone in the middle and only round fifteen minutes from where he lived.

You felt guilty as you let your head rest against the window, your eyelids feeling heavier than you expected. This wasn’t exactly your first rodeo, but you used up a lot of energy during the show. “Ugh, I’m sorry I’m falling asleep.” You chuckled weakly.

“Oh, that’s okay. Go ahead, I’m good by myself. I’m a veteran at this point. I’ve only been in a couple car crashes.” He smirked, chuckling to himself when your eyes widened. “Seriously though, you can sleep. I’ll wake you up when we’re in Hawkins.”

“Thanks, Eddie.” You spoke softly, the drowsiness taking over your body quickly and making your eyes close for the rest of the trip.

Keeping his eyes on the road proved to be more difficult than Eddie had anticipated. He couldn’t stop himself from glazing over at your sleeping form, and you looked so peaceful. He couldn’t believe you were actually allowing him to drive you home. It seemed tonight was full of surprises. He almost didn’t want to wake you up when he saw the “You are now entering Hawkins” sign, but your sleepy voice and tired smile definitely made up for it.

“I’ll tell you when to turn.” You yawned, tucking your knees to your chest as close as you could to try and retain some warmth, Eddie’s large jacket almost swallowing your torso and legs.

“Hey, just out of curiosity, do you listen to Cyndi Lauper?”

You snorted followed by a couple giggles. “That’s a random question.”

“Well, do you?”

“Yeah, of course.” You chuckled. “What?” You asked when you saw his facial expression.

“Nothing, just not surprised.” He smirked.

“Oh and what, you don’t like Lauper?”

“I listen to real music.”

You laughed loudly, almost startling Eddie. “Ah, so you’re one of those metal elitists, huh? You think your music is the only real music? Time after time? Girls just wanna have fun? Come on, no human on earth can’t not like those songs.” Eddie only shrugged, a toothy grin on his face that reeked of smugness. “Expand your horizons, Eds. You’re missing out.” You were too giggly to realize what you had called him, but he definitely did. It managed to wipe off his smug grin. “Oh, you turn here.” You pointed out.

A loud silence came over the two of you as Eddie parked in front of your home and turned off the engine, the shared exhaustion between the two of you apparent. But Eddie looked over to you with a smile. “I should’ve said this earlier, but I had a lot of fun. Best concert I’ve been to yet.”

“Me too.”

“So,” He turned to you, “what happens now? Are we just gonna go back to our respective lives? Ignore each other in the halls until the next concert we find ourselves at?”

You frowned. “Eddie, come on. I’m not going to ignore you just because of what other people think. I’m not as shallow as you think.”

“So, we can still be concert partners?”

“I was thinking more than that. We can be actual friends.”

“Wow, we’re moving on up, huh?” He chuckled.

“Sorry, Eds, but you’re now officially stuck with me.”

“Not the worst fate in the world.” He smiled softly, looking into your eyes intensely.

Before you could overthink it, you leaned over and kissed Eddie on the cheek. “Goodnight, Eddie.” You smiled before getting out of the van, not looking back to see his reaction as you entered your home, leaning against the now closed door and giggling to yourself.

Unlike Eddie, you didn’t skip school the next day after that long night, you still had responsibilities. But you quickly regretted it as you walked through the halls of Hawkins High, hearing whispers and dirty looks getting sent your way as you made your way to your locker. It was mostly the jocks, the people you typically hung out with, which disappointed you even more, especially if they were talking about what you think they were. You even heard some hushed laughter from behind you, causing you to turn around to see some of your other friends looking at you with not so hidden smirks. Thankfully, it was only that, just whispers and looks, until lunch.

You sighed as you saw Hawkins' own golden boy Jason started making his way to your lunch table with a mischievous smirk on his face. You just played it cool, talked to him like you usually would. “Hi, Jason.” You smiled.

Jason looked back at his friends before he sat down in front of you. “Hey, Y/n. So, me and the boys heard some rumors about you today and I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it before I made any opinions.” He said, but it was clear he already made up his mind about you.

You chuckled flatly. “And what rumors would those be?”

“We heard that you were hanging with that Munson freak last night. You went to one of those devil worshiping sessions disguised as a music concert, even though it’s not even music, it’s just noise. It’s in your best interest to tell the truth.”

“Is that a threat, Carver?” You spat, your expression hardening.

“Just answer the question.”

“Not that it’s any of your business, but yes. I was at a concert last night, and Eddie was there. He was kind enough to drive me home too.”

Jason sighed in feign disappointment, clearly trying to hide his smirk. “I gotta say, I’m pretty disappointed in you, Y/n. I thought you were better than this. I thought you were a church goer, what would your pastor say?”

“I wasn’t aware that he was the boss of me, or you, for that matter.”

“I’m just trying to look out for my fellow brothers and sisters. You’re going down a dark path. Once you start hanging with the wrong crowd, it’s a slippery slope.”

A feeling of dread came over you when Jason looked back at his friends, trying to be subtle as he nodded back at them, the exchange causing their faces to light up in excitement. Expecting him to say more, he only gave you a sad smile as he left your table. And for the rest of the school day, that fake smile was all you could think about it, how sinister it felt. Your panic really started when you couldn’t find your bike, the lock you had on it had been broken off. Then, you felt a pair of strong hands take hold of your shoulders. You turned to look at one of the jocks from the basketball team, a huge smirk on his face.

You kicked and screamed, but either there was no one around to hear or no one cared. He and other jocks helped drag you to the back of the school, where Jason and the rest of the basketball and some of the cheerleading team were waiting for your grand entrance.

You didn’t know how long it was until they all let you go, but the sun was starting to set, but then again, the sun always set early during winter. It felt like an eternity, but you were just glad they finally got bored of you.

Your outer layers of clothing were ripped, your jeans and jacket having rips and holes in them. They’d have to be replaced. You had scratches and bruises and cuts galore. Bruises, and scratches, and cuts, oh my! You weakly chuckled at your own joke, immediately regretting doing so since your sides were bruised pretty badly. You dreaded having to walk home, they stole your bike so you had no choice. Your house was so far and you absolutely missed the bus, but there was one person who’s home was closer, and he wouldn’t turn you away. You just hoped he was home.

You were relieved to see Eddie’s van in the driveway, and you shakily raised you fist to knock on the door, surprised how quickly he answered. He was stunned for a moment as he looked you up and down with his eyebrows tightly knitted together, before he finally spoke. “What the hell happened to you?” He ushered you into his trailer, making you take a seat on his couch.

“Jason and the basketball team.” You replied with a wince, seeing Eddie’s concerned and confused face turn into seething rage. “Guess the whole school found out I was one of those devil worshipers.” You finger quoted, a weak smile on your face.

“They did this to you?” Eddie seethed.

“Well, they held me down while their cheerleaders beat the shit outta me for them.”

“That’s so fucked up.” He almost yelled, pacing back and forth in his living room while grasping at his hair. “God, I am so sorry.” His voice wavered, tears welling up in his eyes as he gazed at you.

“Hey, it wasn’t your fault, Eds. But, it would be nice if you could drive me home. They stole my bike and your place was closer.” You chuckled.

“Hold on, I think I have a first aid kit laying around here somewhere. They’re essential when living on this side of town.” You watched with slight amusement as Eddie frantically searched around his trailer for his first aid kit, it was pretty cute and you would have laughed if you weren’t in pain. “Ah, found it!” He walked back and sat next to you, emptying the whole box onto the cushions with shaking hands. “Don’t worry, I know how to patch someone up. Had to learn how to do that pretty early in life.” He chuckled nervously.

“Hey,” You grabbed ahold of his hand, “I’m okay. These wounds are just superficial, they’ll be gone in a week or so.”

Eddie stayed silent, staring at your hand that held his and hesitantly placing his other hand on top of yours, delicately running his thumb over your knuckles. “This never should’ve happened.”

“You’re telling me.” You tried to joke, but Eddie’s face quickly told you that this was not the time to be joking. “Sorry. But I’ll be fine, really. I probably won’t be at school tomorrow though.”

“I wouldn’t let you anyway.”

“Oh really?” You smirked.

Eddie finally gave you a weak smile, his larger hands enveloping yours. “Let me clean you up though, okay?” You nodded, letting him clean and dress your small wounds. He was gentle, his touch as feather light as possible. He didn’t want to hurt you any more than you already were. His fingertips running along your skin made you shiver. “Cold?”

“Uh, yeah, a bit.” You stuttered. “Oh, that reminds me, I still have your jacket from last night. I have to remember to return it to you.”

Eddie shook his head. “Nah, I’ll let you borrow it for a bit. You look cute in it, especially because it’s mine.” Those kinds of comments can give people heart attacks, you specifically.

“I’ll be sure to wear it often then.” You replied, wearing a small smirk on your face.

“Well, I’m…I’m all done. Did you want to go home now?”

“Do I have the option to stay? For a little while?”

Eddie smiled softly. “Of course.”

You couldn’t recall how you ended up in Eddie’s bed, but you welcomed it nonetheless. You especially welcomed the heat from his body that was against you, his arm draped over your side and holding you to his chest with a hand on your back. You didn’t realize how comfortable being held in someone’s arms could be, but it was probably because of who was holding you.

You had woken up before Eddie, but that just meant you got to admire his face. He was so cute, you couldn’t help but lean up to gently kiss his stubbly chin. Apparently, that was enough to stir him awake. “Were you watching me sleep?”

“Mhm.” You nodded, smiling sweetly. Eddie briefly turned to look at his alarm clock on his bedside table, groaning in annoyance. “Time?”

Eddie frowned. “If I don’t tell you, will you go back to sleep?”

“No. Sorry.”

He sighed. “I guess I’ll take you home now. But I’m gonna come see you tomorrow, no doubt about that.”

“Can’t argue that.”

The next couple days went by smoothly. Eddie helped take care of you, even though you didn’t need help but you quickly learned you couldn’t win an argument with this boy. You knew he felt guilty for what happened, even though it wasn’t his fault. You tried convincing him of that, but he wouldn’t listen. You also learned that he was extremely stubborn, but who isn’t nowadays. You did dread going back to school, you were more embarrassed than anything else. You probably should’ve been scared, but it was hard when you had Eddie by your side. You’ve known him for a very short time but you already would go to war for each other. The power of music.

But when you walked through the halls, no one even looked at you. Almost everyone moved out of your way when you walked anywhere. You caught some stares, but they looked more fearful than disgusted. You noticed that Jason was nowhere to be seen. It was strange because he wasn't the type to miss school. You heard he had gotten in a car accident, he was driving drunk and ran a stop sign, another car ramming him and getting him a couple broken bones in the process. You thought about asking Eddie, but something told you not to. Either way, you were glad he’d be out of your hair for awhile.

But your curiosity finally peaked when Jason came back and…actually apologized to you. You thought he’d gun for you as soon as he came back, but he apologized. You almost thought that maybe a near death experience knocked some sense into him, but he looked too scared when he was saying sorry to you. It was suspicious, to say the least. You decided to finally bring it up to Eddie.

“Jason was acting pretty weird this morning.” You spoke up after school in his trailer, which became a regular hang out spot for you if Eddie wasn’t at your place.

“What? Why? What did he say to you? Did he threaten you? I swear to Christ, if he-”

“No, no!” You interrupted. “No, he told me he was sorry for what he did to me that day, said he wasn’t thinking straight, among other things.”

“Oh.”

“It just got me thinking, because that’s not like him at all.”

“How would you know what his typical behavior is like?”

“Well, I used to hang out with his crowd and him, for one. Plus, people like him never admit their wrongs, even if it kills them.”

“Guess he’d rather apologize than get killed…”

You narrowed your eyes, thoroughly analyzing Eddie’s expressions and body language. He was fidgeting with his rings, something he always did when he was nervous. And he was looking anywhere else but you. You scoffed in amusement. “You made him crash his car, didn’t you?”

“What? No, I don’t know what you’re talking about. He was the one who ran a spot sign while drinking, okay? It had nothing to do with me.” You only smiled smugly in response, eliciting a heavy sigh from him. “Alright, alright, fine. Yes, I…may have had a tiny part in that.”

“How?” You stuttered, amazed.

“I have some connections. I wasn’t gonna kill him or anything, I swear. I just wanted to scare him a bit. But then…well…it went a little further than I intended. I made him apologize to you, well, more like blackmailed him into apologizing.” Eddie looked up at you nervously, putting on his best puppy dog eyes. “Don’t hate me, please.”

“Oh, Eddie…” You frowned. “I could never hate you. I’m actually pretty impressed. Not gonna lie, I really wanted something bad to happen to that guy. I hope that doesn’t make me a bad person.”

“Y/n, you are literally the opposite of a bad person.” He said with an almost lovesick smile. You couldn’t handle it anymore…

Eddie let out a surprised noise as you suddenly leaned forward to capture his lips in a passionate, desperate kiss. You had wanted to do this ever since that night at the concert, so you were incredibly relieved when he reciprocated with fervor, grabbing you and pulling you into his lap.

You tangled your fingers in his long hair, gently pulling at the roots to elicit a groan from the man. After days and days of tension, having it finally break was almost overwhelming, but you couldn’t ask for anything better. You learned many things about Eddie, now happily learning how intoxicating his lips were. They moved against yours perfectly, his expertise not lost on you. You didn’t want it to end, you wanted to feel him against you forever, but you both had to come up for air.

“I’ve wanted to do that for so long.” You smiled, chuckling breathlessly.

“Honestly, I have ever since I saw you in that mosh pit.” Eddie said, making you giggle. “So, I guess we’re moving on up again. From concert buddies to concert partners, yeah?”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

I AM ASSEMBLING A TEAM FOR A LOW-BUDGET ANIMATED MOVIE

I know am asking a LOT right now, but considering this is a passion project without a deadline or budget, I guess it's why I'm asking here (and well, I'm no professional lmao).

In 2019, I wrote a short quebecois (french canadian) cyberpunk, action, sci-fi story novel. It was my most beloved project, and it still holds a big spot in my heart (even tho some newer stories of mine are higher quality). Ever since I made it, all I've done is draw scenes, characters, anything from it. I have a folder of about 200 pictures, animatics and concept art added to it over the years. One thing doesn't work for me to do the project though: I can't voice act, I can't make music, and I can't animate (well, not anything above basic storyboards, and I wanna do something in 3D lmao).

I have... well, not a lot of money (no seriously, I am VERY broke). So well while I can try my best to pay anyone who is willing to help, I can't guarantee it'll be a lot (which I know it can be frustrating, as an artist, to not be monetarily compensated for your hard work, so that's why I'm saying it now).

Due to all of this, I'm only asking for people who are GENUINELY interested. I can't provide much in terms of budget so I don't wanna give anyone false hopes. But I promise that I will work very hard to fill in any position that I can, like script writing, character and environmental concept art, direction, I can even try to voice-act if there's not enough actors! As for the work itself, I allow as many breaks as needed. You're allowed to work on any personal project if you ever feel tired or overwhelmed. I too will take many breaks. I don't mind how long it takes, months, one year, a few years even, as long as I know it'll eventually be done and that the people working are genuinely interested.

Now if you've stuck this far and are still interested, I'll share the requirements:

MOST IMPORTANT PART: I am searching for 3D modelers and animators (if you can do both that's cool but it would be nice to separate tasks so it's less tiring for each person working). My characters are very diverse-looking and expressive, so above all, I'd prefer someone who can animate faces well because that's really what I want to pop out (but if you can't, that's okay too, I'm not THAT picky) (tho despite being cartooney, I'm more in the simplistic, Clone Wars - Arcane department than I am in the realistic Disney - Pixar one)

I need voice actors who speak french. No English-only speakers, sorry. Most should be natively québécois (or french who can imitate the accent fluently) but there's a few characters who are anglophones or have a french accent, so that could help too if you're not from Québec but wanna make a voice. The story is rather dramatic and action-packed, with a lot of violence, fight scenes, screams of pain and agony, all that, so be ready for that

And of course, I'd like to have some people who can do the soundtrack (one person or more working together). The story is sci-fi/cyberpunk taking place in Québec, so I'd expect someone who can go more techno, european (and cinematic too)

YOU DON'T NEED TO UNDERSTAND FRENCH TO WORK. I'm fully bilingual so I won't have trouble communicating with you. The only language requirements would be in voice-acting, or if you're working in team and need to communicate with someone else, but otherwise there really is no need because, well, google translate is a thing, and I can always be a translator for you as well if needed.

BONUS: If there's someone available (you don't HAVE to for that part, it's just to make things easier, but they're not requirements because those are all things I can do myself), I could always get some bonus script writers to help the process go a bit faster, and translators in case someone wants to put subtitles in different languages

Why do people feel the need to produce break up rumors out of thin air after every tour/album 🫥 the expectations of some people in this fandom are wild to me.

What do people think they should do? Even if it weren't for Michael's baby, they released an album last year and played two tours, of course they'll need some time to recharge now. Why would you expect new music or ANOTHER tour now already?

And they have not said or done anything that would indicate that they are thinking about breaking up and still people choose to be paranoid instead of putting some trust in them and just let them rest.

Idk maybe I'm the opposite of those people who are still traumatised by 1D or whatever but my other favourite band just had a 5 year gap between albums, they didn't play any live shows for like 4 of those years (partly bc of the pandemic od course) and the front man did a solo album + tour in the meantime. One other band member did some stuff as a producer and from like 2 of them I think I saw a total of 4 social media posts during that time lmao. I didn't see a single person worried that they would break up. That never came up as a possibility anywhere. And then I go to 5sos fandom spaces and people are freaking out when the band goes on a break because one of them will have to care for a damn newborn like please 💀

Sorry for ranting, I'm sure you have a lot of this stuff in your inbox now. No need to respond, I just needed to express to someone how truly baffled I am by this behaviour.

Honestly, I blame one direction for a large part of it. Obviously not the boys in 1D but the whole culture and the intensity around them. I like them but I was never in really invested in them so I did watch everything that happened from the outside and I keep seeing the effects of it. A lot of people did not handle their break up and since 5sos has this connection to them that ended bringing fans over to 5sos people get triggered. But it's bullshit because 5sos is a band that wanted to be the band they are. To act as if 5sos is doomed to follow 1Ds footsteps is stupid because 1D was a bunch of kids who didn't want to be in a band, who got put in a band package and explored until they broke. And all of them are doing the thing they wanted all along, which is be solo acts, so the comparison is not fair. You can't compare 5sos to the boyband curse, because they are no are not a boyband. And this is the dumbest argument ever but it is true, 5sos has a lot more freedom with each other to do other things while still keeping the 5sos project alive. Everything they do that's not exactly like the 17 yo posting keeks and doing twitcam from a mansion creating a constant stream of content creates a wave of mass histeria and honestly, I am so tired of it. Even if 5sos were about to take a decade long break, which I don't think they will, they like making music with each other too much to just stop, they can. They gave us over a third of their lives already. They are allowed different dreams.

Also I think there's this layer of desensitization surrounding famous people in general, that makes people not see them as real people with real feelings or see them as this character they get mad won't follow the script they made in their heads. And the whole way some parts of the music industry just want a really fast rotation that's not really possible and things like K-pop that end up having a higher rotation that creates a bigger stream of content that's not really sustainable in a healthy way for very long but creates a weird expectation anyway. And people think they're allowed to demand shit just because (and this goes from the temper tantrum for the lack of tour to the obnoxious hbg chanting)

5sos already did the killing themselves for the band. Now they live and have a band. I rather to see things this way. They are happy, they are thriving in other aspects of life. If that means waiting another 2, 3, 5, 10 years for new music, so be it. To use 5sos own metaphor, they're driving the bus, we're just along for the ride so whatever stops and turns they want is what goes. They can do whatever they want because is their life and it's their band. And I'm not worried they're gonna break up. Not even a little bit. If not seeing them for a year while Michael settles into being a father is what it takes for them to be happy and healthy, then so be it, let them exist outside the band.

You know what I realized today? I've gathered from dashboard osmosis that the inmates in Milgram are being judged for deaths they're responsible for that don't qualify as murder in a legal sense, right? So... Mondo could totally be an inmate in Milgram World. I don't really know where I'm going with this, but... thoughts on him as an inmate? Like, how might his crimes get treated by the narrative? What music style and symbolism might they use in his videos? (Are there different musical styles? I haven't actually listened to the songs...) Sorry for sticking my special little guy in here lmao, I promise that I'm doing it in a "I'm walking my Littlest Pet Shops through your Barbie Dreamhouse" sorta way.

And that’s exactly it! Five of the prisoners should have been charged with homicide though they have very emotionally charged situations, but the other five have pretty standard lives except that they indirectly/unconventionally took a life – so he would 100% fit. (There’s also a theory I really like that characters only end up in the prison if they personally feel guilty of murder, so it’d work that he felt like he killed someone so he found himself there.)

He’d have such cool symbols in his video ooh... The videoa have a mix of actual scenes of reality along with a more dreamscape-type area. So you’d have moments from the night of the accident, but he could also be riding his bike surrounded by stylized open highways, traffic lights/signage, car lights, and cityscapes that reveal his recklessness/relationships. Or if those are too similar, his dreamscape could also be a garage where he’s working on – or smashing – his bike. Most characters have a single simple image that's their major symbol, I think his would be a red traffic light.

(I can't think of anything clever at the moment but there could also be a lot to work with for diamonds symbolizing something tough/hard, valuable, and visually distracting)

The songs are all generally pop-y, but there are definitely distinct genres for each character which is super fun! (I do recommend giving the soundtrack a listen even if you don’t get into the story side – all the season 2 songs SLAP lol) And I swear I'm not just saying this because he's my favorite, but Mondo would definitely fit Fuuta’s vibes. It’s the whole “I’m a tough guy and I’ll kick your fucking ass, (but deep down I am actually very human and scared and feel immense guilt over this!!” thing. Bring it On is his more confident intro song and Backdraft is after he’s a bit more fucked up and feeling scared/guitly.

Story-wise, I think he’d also be pretty similar to Fuuta in that his toughness would put people off at first. There are three seasons/trials (we’re in the middle of the second one rn), and I think his first voice drama would be full of aggression, and then his song would reveal he’s in a gang – causing the audience to think he was just a loudmouthed delinquent needing to be brought down a notch, and vote him guilty. But then season 2 he hits ‘em with the fact that the gang had nothing to do with the death, and it was in fact love that caused it all, and he's a lot more complex. And maybe it’s held off until s3 to reveal it was his own brother, giving that final twist of the knife. From some of the opinions I’ve seen so far, it seems like he’d get a good reception and may make it out! (Though you could stay true to his original tragedy and take the possibility that his final verdict would be guilty :( )

I would walk my barbies back into your littlest pet shop area, but I mean, the main Milgram high schooler character did stab a girl in broad daylight, so I don’t think there’d be much of an interesting investigation there… 😂

General 1980s media and pop culture - a lot of this was kind of inspired by reading My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix! It's a book set in the 80s and utilizes the 80s nostalgia, but it also doesn't shy away from how ugly the 80s were in terms of social stigmas for people who weren't straight white men. In TAMW especially what I'd be alluding to is the stigma surrounding AIDS, and other blood-borne illnesses.

And, lowkey, wanting to have Gwendoline Christie as a fc for a character?? Like, idk, with who Temperance is as a character within the novella, Christie seems to fit her super well! Also the tall gf x short bf is a ship dynamic I ADORE! (also the character of Jack, the titular 'Mr. Wyrm,' is another character where I use Brad Dourif as a fc for but shhhhh i know I'm cringe, don't remind me)

These are the main WIPs I still work on!! There is also The Faeries and the Lark but that's more on the backburner for now, but that story was inspired by wanting to do a genderbent retelling of Sleeping Beauty but has now turned into a Gothic/dark fantasy Sapphic romance that's a funky blend between Sleeping Beauty and East of the Sun, West of the Moon that's inspired by Scandinavian folklore and seeing images of women in armor lmao.

First off I am so happy to answer this question for you!! Thank you for asking! I love love love music and love this question!

That being said, before I begin I want you to know that I'm so sorry to burst a personal headcanon you've made about my version of Erwin Pries...but he has probably never heard a Lana Del Rey song in his entire life lmfao (I'm assuming that's who you're talking about). But Erwin is an EA premade, so if your Erwin is a Lana Del Rey stan I love that for you and that's valid!!! My Erwin just isn't haha (but his sister Maggie would like her music!) Anyway!!!

Erwin mostly listens to older music: he loves music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and listens to everything on vinyl or cassette (he is very passionate about the preservation of physical media, he is the Paranoid ass king after all). His favorites are Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, David Bowie, Abba, Neil Diamond, Jim Croce, Billy Joel, John Denver, James Taylor, Elton John, The Mamas and Papas, Johnny Cash, and so on. He also has a not-so-secret love for musicals and claims that the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack is one of the best pieces of composition to ever exist (he also likes Godspell, Rent, Xanadu, and many more) Get him drunk enough and he will talk about how Mamma Mia is "Literally a transcendent work of art with whimsy and heartbreak and joy and a tender ass storyline at the heart that quite literally fucks so hard. Fucking Meryl Streep. Fuck!" Direct quote. That man hardly listens to anything post-1990, with the exception of "Queen Florence Welch" (Florence and the Machine).

Zoe appreciates all kinds of music, but has a deep love for the soul music that she heard around the house growing up. She likes music with feeling and depth, and the lyrics are most important to her but if the song isn't deep, it better have a good beat that she can dance to! Her personal favorite artists include Otis Reading, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Rhianna, Lauryn Hill, The Temptations, Roberta Flack, Janelle Monáe, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and so on!

Beckett's looks deceive him because he loves pop music. He is listening to the current hits, think Billboard 100s exclusively lol. He might have listened to a few rock or rap songs to get "pumped up" back in his football days, but for the most part he is always listening to pop - he even likes boybands, but won't willingly admit that lmao. He's a Swiftie through and through, and he will fight for her honor on any Twitter thread or in-person discussion. He also has a love for 90s and early 2000s country artists like Shania Twain, Alison Krauss, Lee Ann Womack, and The Dixie Chicks (now The Chicks) because of cleanin' and cookin' Sundays with his momma <3

Junia doesn't care about music that much! She doesn't have any favorite artists, she's never even bought a CD and probably couldn't tell you 5 bands or artists off the top of her head. She's one of those people who will listen to anything that "has a good beat" while she's working out, and it doesn't even have to have words. She's listening to music more for background noise as opposed to being passionate about it or seeking it out.

Anwar listens to alternative music mostly! Bands like the 1975, The Strokes, Paramore, The Clash, Fall Out Boy, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, The Neighborhood, and so on. He definitely went through a pop-punk, Hot Topic, combo of emo and scene phase in his teen years in the 2000s. (Iykyk, if you don't... look it up lmao. It was a time to be alive.) If they could play at Warped Tour, he listens to them lmao. But he's cool with most pop or radio music, he's not like a music snob or anything.

Tashia listens to pretty much everything, but she also loves metal music. Idk if you've seen the Pixar/Disney movie "Monster's University" but there's a scene in there where the mom of one of the main characters drops them off at Monsters Inc. and she's like "I'll just be listening to my tunes until you get back" in like the sweetest voice and then as she's rolling up the windows you can hear metal music blasting through the speakers and she's just like... calmly vibing like she's listening to elevator music or smooth jazz lmfao. It's very funny. That's how I imagine Tashia's music taste to be and it concerns everyone around her <3

Also, since you seem to listen to a lot of Kpop, who are your favorite bg and ggs outside of bts? I've personally always really liked mamamoo

Yeah, I don't know much about payola, but every song that does well on Spotify is accused of payola, right? And this is Jungkook, who joined hands with Scooter Braun and is breaking all kinds of records now. The accusations were inevitable... Also, if you're curious about my thoughts on JJK1 being all in English, I had an ask about that.

I love that you're asking me about kpop! Thank you! On New Jeans, if you look up my posts about them (I've only written 1 or maybe 2), you'll see I sort of boycott them... Maybe it's hypocritical because all labels suck, and Min Hee-jin is not the only predatory, melomaniac asshole out there, but she loves to hear herself talk more than most. And NJs are not the only groups with very young members, but very few groups have all minor members when they debut. Also, people's obsession with a bunch of teenage girls is a bit weird to me... I just don't want to listen to their music. When I had no idea who they were, I watched their Attention MV, and the sensual RnB vibes and the way those girls were filmed seemed inappropriate to me. I didn't fall in love with the song either. I've heard snippets of their other songs, because you can't escape them in kpop, and I've heard a NJs cover more than once, but I don't listen to them, sorry. Their style isn't really my style though. I like fun kpop tracks, not really chill ones for the most part.

I only listen to kpop really. I love kpop. I love that I can't understand the lyrics when they're shitty, I love how fun and playful the concepts can be, I love that there aren't as many boring breakup songs (Korean pop is a different story), I love the dancing, I love that the songs are fun and "noisy". I mostly listen to ggs. I find them the most exciting, refreshing, and also relaxing. I love girls so it's natural! (Listening to bgs isn't anti-feminist though lmao). My favorite ggs right now are Twice, IVE, and LSF in that order, but I love Twice and IVE's music a lot more than LSF's. I like Sakura a lot though. I used to love Itzy but haven't been vibing with them much lately, but they're still one of my favorites. I really like NMIXX! JYPE is my favorite company musically. I'm a bit done with Stayc right now, after the curry song thing, but I like them too. These are mostly new groups haha. I like Apink and Exid too. I like Fifty Fifty and Aespa, I listen to some KEP1ER1. When a group I know, even if by name, has a comeback, I usually listen to them. When a group debuts, I try to give them a shot too. This new group who debuted, Kiss of Life, are killing it. I also listen casually to RV (not recently though), TRI.BE, Billlie, Weeekly, Secret Number, Cherry Bullet, WJSN, Viviz, Woo!ah!, etc... I like Eunbi, Yuri, and more recently Yena, from IZ*ONE too, though they are soloists.

As for bgs... I don't listen to them a lot, but there are tons of amazing bg songs that are some of the best kpop songs (excluding BTS). I like TXT and SKZ the most, but haven't vibed with SKZ recently. I like Enhypen's tts and some Exo, I like recent Shinee. Recently, I loved PHarmony1's Jump, LUN8's Wild Heart, VAV's Designer, Treasure's Move, and even 8TURN's Excel... I listen to random songs from a lot of groups. I kinda like KARD but not some of their tts.

I was (and kinda still am) so interested in the church mystics who would like lock themselves away and starve themselves and engage in other forms of self-harm in order to receive visions from god. just, the idea that there's a price for everything, and that price is often paid in physical suffering (in Aemond's case, losing his eye and the lingering effects of that) is something that is so devastating, and yet so deeply engrained in so many religions (I know I'm still trying to unlearn parts of it)

I definitely think Tonight Alive was big in the scene! Although I also used to keep an extra eye out for female-led bands back in the day. Still do, but yeah, if it was a frontwoman there was no way it slipped past my radar (was it because I was looking for inspo because I was so sure I was gonna be in a band? more likely than you think) 😅 but yeah totally get you about the vibes, omg, you just had to be there, the vibe of that era was unmatched!

And ohhh for sure, I totally get you about foundational albums, I do have my fair share of 'em! For me, it's definitely Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled. When they ask me what my favorite album of theirs is my favorite I'm never sure what to say because the self-titled was IT for me back in the day, but I love others because of the whole listening experience. So yeah, I get you, it's tough!!

Oh gosh I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet (this week I've been struggling with this weird headache and I finally went to the doctor for it) but I'm definitely taking note of all of your recs to listen to! I love love love when people recommend me music so please, I'd definitely love to hear all of your aemond-coded songs (or just general songs you wish to show me!)

Okay re: more on Aemond and religion. OH god yes, now that you mention that about mystics who would lock themselves away and torture themselves to get visions from god, it reminds me that Ewan Mitchell talked about finding inspiration for Aemond from the legend of The Cyclops, how he traded one of his eyes to Hades to see how he would die. So what we've talked about in relation to religion and suffering in order to gain something else to your benefit I think it's spot on. Also, it's something that sticks with you. I still feel guilty over the silliest things; like when I want to rest, I still have this nagging little voice in my head that tells me that in order to rest, I need to work; or if I want to buy myself something I always feel super guilty about spending money. So all of this guilt and the need to suffer to feel worthy about what you have is definitely something that would be deeply ingrained in Aemond and something that would bleed into all areas of his life. I'm imagining that at some point (in the scenario where doesn't die like in the books, lmao T_T) he must be conscious of wanting to separate himself from it when he realizes it is no longer serving him, or it's only bringing him more pain, but it's hard to do so.

That's so sweet. Neptune is such an amazing planet and a wonderful choice!! I really like that about you, you always have such amazing options. I think it’s interesting how the genre seems widely disparaged but it still crops up in pop music

(i don't really follow olivia so i hadn't heard her say that, but my guess is that she's sort of drawing from artists like taylor and their writing style even if the sour production is very pop.) this is a super interesting observation and one i've noticed as well...i think music trends come and go in waves, and while a lot of pop music has leaned super into hip hop in recent years, country seems like it's been cropping up everywhere recently. in fashion too...like everyone's wearing those obnoxious hot pink cowboy hats with silver trim and cowboy boots. honestly fashion trends move so fast these days that i feel like that won't be as cool pretty soon, but i think pop music and greater trends inform each other a lot, even though it's sort of hard to tell the origins of them. i do think old town road was a huge moment in pop music and definitely inspired a lot of the country influence that's been making its way into hip hop especially...i also wonder if the greater amount of openly queer folk/americana/country artists making their way into the mainstream has changed people's opinions about the genre...idk i feel like i see less people saying 'i love all music except for country' these days. i've been a fan of country music and the ~cowboy aesthetic~ (i guess) for as long as i can remember so honestly i'm glad that there seems to be a movement of more queer and marginalized folks enjoying the genre because it can be fucking great!! but also the country music industry is SUCH a machine and pretty much every song that gets churned out of it is fucking terrible these days lmao. so i can see why people who have only heard that would reduce the genre to being a conservative capitalist nightmare. not to mention the extreme nationalist backlash mainstream country had to 9/11, which i think is still very interwined with the genre. it's also important to kind of acknowledge the history of country music and how there's not really a defintion of the genre itself...like TONS of very differently sounding music falls under the country umbrella, and honestly the country industry reinvents itself every few years just to try to stay relevant and keep interest among younger consumers. like i'm sorry but how tf are johnny cash and whatever the fuck pop-country-rap hybrids are on the radio right now THE SAME GENRE?!?!?!! they literally have nothing in common besides an accent and the place the music comes from. also like...in case you didn't know, country and blues were originally the same exact type of music, but country was by and for white people and blues was by and for black people. like literally genre is so fake sometimes.

ANYWAY that got long as hell and idk if i said anything of substance but i love country music and i hate country music and i think it's incredibly cool that it's kind of trendy right now <3
