Writer reader getting kind of insecure that even if they write something nobody will understand it, so when Al haithem askes you if he can keep a draft or two just for analyzing, there's hesitant agreement but ultimately you tell him to please burn the documents once he's done. They're too awkward to look at now...

Only he doesn't burn them, in fact he ends up recruiting several people close to the creator with knowledge of olden speak to analyze them. A funeral parlor consultant well known for his historical knowledge, a 500 year old shrine maiden who owns and runs her own publishing house, and a bard who somehow butted his way in on the project. None of them could resist the opportunity to witness the creator's sacred scriptures with their own eyes.

Needless to say, the papers ended up being fought over and have been making their rounds around your acolytes. It started with Ei, who insisted that as an archon she also should see the creator's work with her own eyes. Then once Ningguang found out, she ordered they be handed over to a team of literary analysts in order to be properly handled and deciphered. Things got really messy quick, but have luckily come to a halt as none of the acolytes want the creator to know their random writings are being fought over.

Especially when it comes to the creator's sullen additute. Their acolytes first have to convince their holiness that their inability to read and understand the creator's writing shouldn't prevent you from doing what you love. In fact... could they convince you to write some more?

You were not a very confident writer.

This had been an avoidable feeling ever since you picked up a pen for the first time and were asked to write a story for school.

You were always anxious turning in essays, letting friends proofread them, anything that would expose your writing to more eyes, because you’d learned the hard way early on that as you get older and better at something, the stuff from the beginning… starts to look a lot different than you remember.

things you used to be proud of after having completed them in the moment, were something you struggled not to rip to shreds a year or two after you re-found it.

If it weren’t for other writers advising holding onto old work so you can see your progress over time, you’d have probably literally nothing older than one year on your ao3, wattpad, etc…

So when you had the fortunate luck (no it is not unfortunately, you are very happy to be here tbh) to fall headfirst into your video game you’ve been obsessed with lately,

You were not planning on showing them any of your writing.

Why would you, after all? You’ve got the weapons, the artifacts, everything they need to be more powerful. Why would you show them a silly little story you wrote? Fanfic or otherwise, not that theyll recognize any characters besides themselves, but still.

Alhaitham, bc ofc it was alhaitham, cocky, deviously aware bastard he is, caught you writing in your spare time first.

You’d gotten your hands on an old journal (if made you feel better than something completely new, a nice worn leather journal, sold at a secondhand shop from an old adventurer) and had started to write what you could remember about some of your ideas you’d had drafts for in your old world

After initially walking in on you writing in the House of Daena (it was the closest you could get to lofi girl, god u missed her lmao), you nearly jumped a foot in the air bc Haitham’s a nosy bitch and leaned over your shoulder and scared the absolute shit out of you, mans goes from asking politely, to begging you to let him read some of your writing over the course of 3 weeks (a month really)

Finally, after this 6 ft (about 180cm) man leans down one day (you’re sitting writing again), and gives you the most insanely good?? puppy dog eyes??? you’ve ever seen on a man???

you give in, revise a draft about 5 times in a row, lose sleep bc ur having a breakdown about alhaitham judging ur writing the night before you give him his copy-

and hand over a small short story for him to read. you specifically leave a little note not to judge you so hard for Haitham bc u werent used to people reading ur work/let alone someone as highly academic as him, ESPECIALLY since your speech is already so much more archaic than his/all of Teyvats-

His stupid green eyes with diamonds look into your soul (are they sparkling??) and he braces your shoulders after you give him his copy,

“Mine Greatest Guide, you hath deemed this one worthy of thy trust of your creations personally, I would be a fool to gaze upon it in jest. To take this work as anything less than a masterpiece in its infant stages.”

…you just leave him to it, and are nearly running out of there (u managed to be calm enough to just speedwalk),

and you make a point to not ask what he thought about it, or even bring it up at all

you’re kind of hoping he forgot tbh… and so nothing happens!

Nothing happens… for 2 weeks after you gave Haitham a copy of your short story.

You still don’t know Alhaitham’s opinion when you see the advertisement, a sign saying something about, a new book? By YOU???

You nearly start a mob because the shopkeeper insisted you sign some copies, but you only signed a few before too many people overwhelmed you, and seeing it was that same draft- !! Oh god, you’d been agonizing over the spelling errors you’d missed when you gave it to Alhaitham, and now it’s just out there???

(luckily it seems the reviews are positive, but dammit you’ve been rereading ur story u gave him for days, and now ur positive it’s shit-)

You make a break for it, and are literally running (more like speed-walking after a while, since u got further away) thru Sumeru City:

you pass by the open patio of a restaurant, the scholars are heatedly discussing ur characterization-

you pass by Dehya, Candace, and Dunyazard, the merc is waving around a copy of ur book, the other two women look excited abt the conversation-

oh my god-

Nahida is relaxing in one of the many little gazebos thruout Sumeru, while Wanderer seems to be reading your story to her-

You fucking track down Alhaitham’s house like a bloodhound.

You are banging the infamous gay roommates’ front door, panting til ur throat burns raw.

“Yes, yes, alright, greetings to you too! I was simply visiting the Acting Grand Sage Alhaitham, tis why I’m here- Greatest Lord?!”

Kaveh is nearly jumps a foot in the air at the sight of you, but recovers, (you’re still not tho lmao)

and invites you in bc apparently, Alhaitham’s been meaning to talk to you about your draft you gave him!

Oh yeah, you’ve got some words to give Haitham after giving him that damn draft privately-

But when he sees you, the fucker just- smiles??

Like he’s done nothing wrong???

You’re about to tear into him when he speaks first to tell you the good news!

He grabs your hands at the table and gets down on one knee, ohhhh no.

Alhaitham is giving you those damn begging puppy dog eyes again.

“My Greatest Lord, Giver of Power, and Guide to All, your exquisite story has entranced all of Teyvat, might I please insist you write a sequel? It is an excellent literary piece to analyze… or perhaps, even better, share other stories you’ve written??”

The Red Flags of Ruby's Suicidality Throughout The Volume

It should be obvious, but this short essay will cover heavy subjects of suicide, so if you're uncomfortable with this subject matter please don't read this.

The first red flag was in episode 4, where Ruby contemplated erasing her current self due to her failures, after talking to her 'past self'.

This gets reinforced by the lyrics of Trapdoor, which is about how worthless and unneeded Ruby feels.

One common mindset among suicidal people is this: what if I'm useless? What if my friends don't need me anymore? What if they don't care about me? What if I'll keep ruining everything? Would the world be better without me?

Suicidal people are usually full of self-loathing and blame.

Even in the episode 7 fight Ruby felt useless after seeing C-PTSD red flags (they're not Neo hallucinations because she didn't see the Schnee manor grounds struggle with hacked Penny). In her eyes, the others are fighting well without her, so she's useless.

Another set of red flags is snapping at your loved ones, pushing them away and driving yourself into isolation. We see ALL these in episodes 7 and 8, with Ruby snapping at her friends and running away, and even pushing Little away.

And on top of it she feels like her friends don't care, the world is against her, etc. which is YET another red flag.

(Massive disclaimer that this is NOT anti WBY and they, especially Yang, tried to reach out to her throughout the volume.)

I'd like to mention that if your loved one attempts and you tried to help but couldn't do it, it is NOT your fault. We're not all experts and we try our best, so do not ever blame yourself for these things.

It's not uncommon for suicidal people to refuse help, and on top of it Ruby has always been selfless to self destructive levels.

And the last thing, her self blame over her loved ones dying. While Penny and Pyrrha were apparitions, they still reflected her self blame. And Little dying? The final straw.

So her suicide attempt in the end was being built up all volume.

All I can say is that I hope Ruby somehow gets rescued and also recovers from her mental health problems because JESUS CHRIST.

This was a bit hard for me to write, especially as someone with BPD and frequent suicidal tendencies. This topic hits hard for me. However, I'm not an expert and this post shouldn't be taken as gospel. There may be details even I missed, so feel free to add your own observations.

And remember that if you are suicidal as well, you're not alone. You'll always have people who care about you, and resources to help out.

let's get straight to the point, we all hate those intros of twenty pages. Note that what works for me and others may not work for you, and by those advices I am simply helping you, not obliging you to do them. 🫶🏻

why would we accept an 80% when we can get an 90% working hard is tough and boring but it pays off 🫶🏻

★

1- KNOW WHAT YOU ARE STUDYING

Many people walk in class not knowing what it is about. But that's completely understandable, since many forget or neglect studying at home. You should know what your last lesson was about, and have a sum up and notes aside to remember.

★ Write down on the book, paper, sticky note what you studied in that class, so next time you wouldn't have to go through multiple pages and know exactly the key points.

2- LOVE WHAT YOU ARE STUDYING

I see you scoffing there, but it's actually proved that loving the subject makes studying it easier. I know some subjects are difficult and boring and it's impossible to love it; that's all right. It's not an obligation, nor a rule.

But!!!

You need to love the subject to succeed in it. Dive in it, link it with things that interest you.

3- OTHERS OTHERS OTHERS

Don't bring yourself down by comparing to other people. You might be better than them in a specific subject that they are probably struggling in it. Which is extremely common. Instead, say that what others are capable of learning and understanding, you are capable of as well. Positive comparison that brings the best in you and pushes you to do best.

★Mutual help, helping them and letting them help you will make a huge difference; you can gain a friend and be better in a subject :)

4- MR. X IS THE WORST

About Teachers\ Professors, they were a student too. Hating them wouldn't make any difference. Instead, try to know your teacher.

TEACHER'S PET IS A BIG NO COME ON >:(

This person will guide you for at least a year. You need to know them, and I don't mean by this pull a Sherlock Holmes on them.

★Look at what your teachers love, hate, their charachter, their beliefs. This usually helps in knowing what they'll aim in in an exam, what they'll expect from you in class, how often they'll ask you questions, etc...

★Knowing the minimum about them will prevent you from giving a bad impression.

(Eg) If you know that your teacher's dead husband name is Jo, don't use the name Jo ever in your essays. EVER. (there is some exceptions where they hate their partner so they probably wouldn't mind)

(This is me being silly but still names in essays\essays in general are extremely important, they'll show how dedicated or how seriously you are taking the subject)

★Being polite will give a good impression ★If they like a specific thing, don't try to hate or argue about it. Let them be.

★They are humans, be nice to those people for the love of god.

5- MY PHONE WHERE IS MY PHONE

You are addicted don't deny that. I got you.

*Stay Free* is an application that can help you use your phone less. It's super easy and helpful.

★Put your phone in don't disturb mode or simply turn off the notifications till you finish studying.

★Keep it out of reach and don't use it between breaks.

6- NOTES

Teachers won't put everything on the board, you need to take notes in class. It's up to you how to, just make it clear and pretty.

★Scribble down and when you are home review the whole lesson and your notes and rewrite them neetly.

7- ORGANIZE YOUR SPACE

An organized desk will make you less stressed, limit the distractions, help you focus.

★ Keep the stuff you need close to not lose attention.

8- LA MUSIQUE MON AMOUR

Everyone is different, if you can focus while listening to Metal, you're a hero and I admire you.

Calm music helps in reliving the stress and with the flow of informations.

★Music with lyrics can be distracting sometimes, I'd personally advise listening to Lofi, Jazz, nature noises (becah waves, rain, violin with rain, thunder, birds..)

There are plenty of episodes on Spotify\Youtube to help you focus.

9- WHY IT IS 4 AM?!

Waking up early is better when it comes to studying. You can focues better, less noise, less distractions.

10- ONE HOUR OH MY GOD

To get better grades, you'll need to study, lots. But studying smartly will take a few moments. And including it in your daily habits will give better effects.

★keep a reminder for the same time everyday, reread your notes\ flashcards

★If you can't stay focused for an hour straight, divide the study session to x minutes in the morning and x minutes in the evening\night.

★Keep a list\planner\ app to track your daily tasks and to not forget them.

11- LIBRARY OHHH

Studying in the library is superior, no further explanation.

12- GOALS

You can't study if you don't have a goal. What motives you to get up everyday and study for hours? This goal is important, it'll push you into studying when you're unmotivated. Achieving it is what you work for, so keep it up.

★if you're lost, don't have a goal..

think of small stuff. Picture your dream life, write it down and stick it to your wall

13- LOTS OF BOOKS MWAHA

books, lots of books, everywhere.

MUSTS:

The best apps I use for organizing:

Forest: helps you focus for x minutes

Notein: notes\reminders\to do list

School Planner: The best one out there, litterly the best

Flashcards: makes easy flashcards and quizzes

Dictionary for every language you are studying

Google translate: Not very accurate but you can download the languages and then translate offline

Text Snap: makes from the notes a pdf\ written text a scanned text taht i can edit on my phone

Notion: No clue how it works but still lots of stuff to use

✨🍊 Bullet Train Agere Headcanons: Little and Big Sib!Tangerine 🍊✨

Hi y'all! I'm so sorry this took me so damn long to make 😭😭😭. I said I was gonna make this like almost a month ago but I was just super busy with work, essay writing, resume critiquing, etc. That I completely forgot about this. And now it's not even gonna come out when I said it would so I'm super sorry y'all. Hopefully y'all are still hyper fixating on this and I didn't wait too long lol so I hope y'all enjoy this! Warring: this obviously contains spoilers from the movie so if you haven't seen it yet, then don't read this

✨🍊Little!Tangerine Headcanons🍊✨

(I was trying to find a pic of him pouting and this was the best I could find y'all I'm sorry 😭😭😭)

Okay so, like Ladybug, he also started regressing after the events of Bullet Train (because yes he survived what are you talking about?)

My poor mans was traumatized from thinking his brother was dead and being shot in the throat that he unknowingly started to regress

He would act calmer and more timid, which immediately shot up red flags for Lemon because after everything that happened, he was expecting to have to sedate his brother to prevent him from going and killing Ladybug

But no, instead he got a sweet, shy little man, who barely seemed to talk and had his thumb in his mouth as he gripped his brother's hand, not wanting to let go in fear of him leaving Tangerine alone. It kind of reminded Lemon of how his brother was when they were a lot younger. Which honestly was even more terrifying to Lemon than a blood thirsty maniac Tangerine that he was used to

When Tangerine was finally passed out again, this time instead of laying on his back fully unconscious in a slight coma that made his poor brother sick to his stomach, he was now curled up against Lemon's side with his thumb in his mouth and gripping his shirt like his life depended on it (not that his brother minded since he had almost lost Tangerine for good, so he wants to be just as close to him as Tangerine does), Lemon is able to do some thinking on what the hell is going on with Tang

Then it hits him like The Prince with the tangerine truck

His brother is age regressing! (Just like him- I mean who said that). When Tangerine wakes up again the next morning seemingly older than the night before, Lemon decides to break the news to him beloved brother

Obviously it didn't go well

Like at all

Lots of yelling and arguing

Tangerine was mainly upset because he thought what was happening to showed that he was too weak to handle his job and could no longer do it properly and professionally like he used to

Lemon of course, after figuring out what Tangerine was actually afraid of because of course his brother didn't directly tell him, reassures him that it's okay to need to relax a little and let you mind not have to worry about killing people or being killed

Tangerine is obviously still pretty distraught and angry and definitely not really listening to what Lemon was saying, and was instead trying to pace around there shared safe house, which was proving to be a very difficult task seeing how he had just woken up from a coma a few days ago and gets very dizzy and wobbly until Lemon has to force him back onto his bed he was previously laying on and get him to relax a bit

Before Tangerine can tell at his brother for touching him and trying to get him to calm down, Lemon interrupts him by telling him how Lemon regresses too

........this leaves Tang completely speechless

Lemon decides to give Tangerine some room to think about what he had just told him (he doesn't really leave, only staying just outside the door way cuz he doesn't really want to be that far away from him) and after a while Tangerine comes to the realization that if his brother can regress, than he can too!

While he was laying in bed still recovering, Lemon would put on some random cartoon and watch it with him. Tang obviously wasn't gonna regress like he was before since that was brought on by stress so they why trying to get him to relax enough just to do it without him feeling horrible first if that makes sense

It took a while but Tangerine is finally able to regress willingly

Lemon is Tang's main caregiver and Maria is the second choice. Ladybug is in dead last for.....well..... obvious reasons

However Lemon is more willing to let him and Ladybug hangout if it's for a playdate or if Ladybug is the one regressed.

Tangerine regresses between 1-3 so he's a little man✨😌

While big Tang likes to dress all fancy-shamacy so of course little Tang likes to too

But he doesn't want to wear suits tho

Instead he wants to wear cute little sweater vests and cardigans

I'm telling y'all he looks so cute😭😭😭

Tang's favorite show when regressed is blue clues when itty bitty or bob the builder when slightly older

He loves drinking out of his bottle while watching his favorite shows, sitting in a bean bag chair, all wrapped up in a big ole blanket

As for toys, he has the like leap frog toys. Ya know like the vacuum cleaner, the telephone, the laptop, the remote, pretty much all of the leapfrog toys.

He also has rattles, the weird toy were you stack the multi colored rings on the pole that idk the name of, blocks, and a ridiculous amount of stuffed animals

Like I'm not joking he has at least over 30

His favorite stuffed animal is a stuffed tiger names Stripes

Tang absolutely adores Stripes with all his heart no matter what age range he is

One time when big Tangerine was cleaning his room, he set Stripes on his bed but forgot he was their and piled a bunch of dirty laundry on top of him by accident and proceeded to put the pile in the washing machine. Unbeknowance to Tangerine, Stripes was in the pile!

So when Tang went back to his room to clean he realized Stripes was not longer on his bed and panicked.

Poor boy checked everywhere, under his bed, in his closet, trash bin, suit cases, everywhere but couldn't find him :(

He eventually regressed, do to not being able to find his comfort item, and threw a little tantrum and started sobbing

Lemon, being the over protective brother he is, came barreling into his brother's room to find out what was wrong

After a lot of snot, sniffles, and tears, Lemon was able to figure out what was wrong and practically tore apart the house looking for Stripes

Eventually he ended up calling in reinforcements, and Maria and Ladybug started tearing apart the house too

Ladybug's extremely rare good luck decided to shine at the moment and when looking through the laundry room, the washing machine went off. Not wanting their clothes to sit all soaked, he decided to take them out for them, thinking about how they had enough shit to worry about

And lo and behold Stripes made a spectacular appearance!

Ladybug ran into the living room where everyone was (well more like slipped because of the water dripping from Stripes) and presented a soggy tiger to a very upset Tangerine

It took about 10 whole ass minutes trying to convince Tang to release the soaking wet stuffed animal from his death grip as well as some bribing, but they were able to get him in the dryer so he was all dry and fluffed up for a cute little to enjoy

(and they all say in the living room watching a movie and Lemon regressed because he of the eventful 2 hours he just had and talked to Maria about a Thomas the Tank Engine episode he has watched recently with a Caregiver Maria while Caregiver Ladybug cuddled with a little Tangerine and Stripes on the couch and they all loved happily ever after🥰)

ANyYWays

This little guy likes using pacifiers but like the deco ones

He has royal blue one and with rine stones and a shark and a turquoise one with blue clues on it

When he doesn't get his way, he gets like super pouty

Sticks his bottom lip out and will sometimes even "hmph" if he's little and angry enough

Just don't tell him he looked cute cuz he will throw a fit and let me tell you it is not fun for anyone

Really likes to sit on people's laps and be held

Big Tangerine tries not to touch people and gets really annoyed when people try to touch him (unless it's one of his caregivers but he tries to at least act annoyed) because he only lets people's he's close to touch him but he doesn't really want to be close to other people in fear of losing them so he is a little touch starved

Little Tangerine tries to make up for all the lost snuggle time he's missed out on and the caregiver trio is more than welcome to help him out with that

Ladybug is always willing to cuddle with him but he's not Tang's first (or second) pick. Tang will always want to cuddle with his brother first and if he can't he'll cuddle with Maria. Ladybug tries not to act hurt but he's def jealous

Speaking of Ladybug, Lemon will try to set up playdates for Tang with Littlebug

Tang does prefer Littlebug over Ladybug so it works out perfectly

Ladybug does regress older, but he's always gentle with Tang and almost always plays or does exactly what Tangerine wants to do

They're just so cute together omg

Lemon and Maria think so too

Sometimes Lemon will get jealous and want to play too and the ever watchful Maria always notices sometimes even before Lemon does

This usually ends with her coaxing Lemon to regress and play with the other boys but sometimes he'll push back so she sometimes discretely asks for help

Lemon: Nah it's fine love, I'll just watch them. I wouldn't want to put you in a position where you'd have to watch all three of us

Maria: Oh please, I have to do that already with you guys on mission anyways, and I've got to say, your all way more cooperative little than you are big

Lemon: Ha ha very funny. But I'm serious I'm fine (is very not fine)

Maria: *sighs* All right fine. *Now louder* I'm sure the boys wouldn't be upset at all if they found out that you didn't want to play with them

Littlebug and Tang: *Turn their heads to Lemon*

Tang: you don' wanna pway wid us? *eyes starting to get glossy*

Littlebug: Yeah that's not nice *frowning very deeply*

Lemon: *now panicking* What?! No! That's not true at all i- well I just didn't think.... Ya know you wanted me to.

I mean while he does look after his brother, he just doesn't seem to fall into the head space like the others

That's okay tho!

He usually only looks after Lemon but will very rarely look after Littlebug

He's kind of strict with rules but like laid back too ya know?

Tang loves to make home made meals for his littles

It’s one of his love languages

But there not like normal easy foods ya know?

There like super fancy versions of simple foods like garlic bread grilled Gouda cheese or something extra like that lol

He says it’s because basic dishes are boring but in reality he just really wants to spoil his littles while putting some extra love into what he’s making for them

However because he’s somewhat of a perfectionist, the food kinda ends up straying to far from the original product AND because he’s usually cooking for littles who live and breathe off of store bought frozen chicken nuggets or craft Mac n cheese, most of the time he’s met with complaints about his meals

Little Lemon: *takes a big bite out of some coconut amino covered chicken strip*

Also Little Lemon: *immediately spits it out* It’s yucky!

Tangerine:*offended but not really surprised* What do you mean “yucky”?! This shit-I mean crap, is amazing?! Do you have any idea how long it took me to make this?!

Little Lemon:* is now kind of just saying stuff to piss off his brother cuz he thinks it’s funny* I dunno but it just taste bad

Tangerine:*glares and mumbles as he takes Lemons plate away to go make him some Dino nuggets* You taste bad…

Little Lemon:*gasps* NUH UH

Tangerine: YEAH HUH

*tomfoolery continues for like an hour*

He tries his best not to curse around any of the little ones but sometimes they just slip

He can’t help it, it’s like apart of his personality now lmao

But for the sake of his little one, he’ll try to keep it at a minimum but don’t expect anything significant

Also really enjoys helping his littles get dressed for some reason he can’t explain

It just brings him joy to be able to dress up his loved ones and make them look there best (even if they aren’t big fans of what he’s got them in)

He will also sometimes try to match with his little one

Not the whole outfit but like the colors mainly

His favorite activity to do with his little is sit on the couch and watch some TV with them

He gets a little upset that he can’t watch the shows he wants to, and with loudly and unseriously complain about it but like after five minutes of watching a show he’s just as into to it as his little is

He had literally shushed them from talking so he could hear Bluey better

Like sir if you don’t listen to Ladybug’s rant on how Care Bears are better I’m gonna have to come over there and body slam you

He’ll watch any show EXCEPT for Caillou.

Caillou is not allowed in this house hold and never will be

I’m sorry, he’ll put up with a lot of crap to keep his little happy but watching Caillou is NOT one of them

He loves to make nicknames for his little

But like not normal nicknames

Like not the ones where it’s a play on your name or a shortened version of it

He will literally call you like an object that has no correlation to your actual name

He’ll just be put her calling you something that he thinks is cool

Swear to god he’ll call you something like iceberg or tomato

Wouldn’t be surprised if he called you something like table or lamp post at this point

Ladybug’s nickname is peaches which I think is freaking adorable

Maria’s is something like Taser or Water buffalo

Don’t ask me why it’s like 2:00 in the morning when I’m writing this😭😭😭

Really into affectionately ruffling his little ones hair

Big Tangerine isn’t super into hugs or hand holding but he does love to just pay you on the back or ruffle your hair

That doesn’t go to say that he won’t give someone a hug if they like REALLY need it

Lemon is the one exception who will get a hug whenever he asks for one with no complaints whatsoever

Touching just isn’t his go-to

Likes to do voice impressions of a character his little likes

Even though I’m the movie when he did the Thomas impression to just kind of poke fun at Lemon, Lemon still loved it (tho he definitely tried to hide it)

But just because he loves to do impressions doesn’t mean that they’re good

NEVER ask him to do a Sponge Bob impression

My mans sounds like a cat in a blender

It’s almost impressive how much he doesn’t sound like Sponge Bob

Like he should get an Oscar for that kind of acting in my opinion

He also kind of thinks it’s funny when he messes up an impression so I can’t tell if he’s doing it on purpose or not

Knowing him he probably is lol

He also likes to him lullabies to his little when they’re tired

Not really into singing but really likes how relaxing it is to just be able to hum his loved one to sleep

Usually it’s just a random song that pops into his head

It could be a heavy metal song and this man is humming it like Rock-a-bye baby

And it’s sounds just as peaceful and calming too

All in all Tangerine may have the calmness and peacefulness of a Tasmanian Devil but he still makes a great Big Sib

YALL I AM SO SORRY! I literally said I was gonna make this in FEBRUARY and it’s literally November so that’s cool. I did a whole pill about it too and look how long this still took me😭. Part 6: “I reject your reality, and substitute my own”: Maybe There is Hope After All

Note: this is a part of my essay "The Awkward Meta-Tragedy of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman", see [here] for the masterpost of all links, reading order, and content warnings.

Well, despite everything the author might have possibly intended, I still do care about Morpheus and his fate. To paraphrase Ludo’s 2008 album title, “He’s awful, I love him.”

And that’s part of why the most common interpretation of his ending—as both a fully planned suicide and a tragedy—disturbed me so much. At best I could metaphorically “scoot” it around to interpret it as a traditional tragedy where his fatal flaw was his inability to seek help/treatment or cope with his issues, and thus the warning to the audience is a positive one to seek help if you’re struggling. Once again, though, given the way depression sometimes works, that still feels vaguely close to victim-blaming.

Another way to get around the unfortunate implications would be if his death was not, in fact, a carefully planned suicide. Maybe he just fucked up enough that eventually the various things he fucked up all stacked properly to be his downfall without any intent involved? But, that does raise the huge question of who got Loki to kidnap Daniel, provoking Lyta and thus causing the rest of the dominoes to topple. In the suicide interpretation it’s implied to be Morpheus himself who intentionally set the situation in place; without that explanation that’s an odd open thread left. But still, an accidental buildup of issues rather than intentional suicide would make things a lot less uncomfortable. Somehow, “you can do everything you can to change and still have negative and destructive consequences come your way” or “you can try your best and still fail” feels more reassuring than the alternative of “he did change, but he still decided to die—in the end, it didn’t even matter.”

Totally replacing a dead loved one still feels weird, regardless of their manner of death; I don’t think there’s any way around that. But, at least if it was not a suicide, then it doesn’t validate the “my family would be better off without me” sentiments that might be present in suicidal ideation.

And then, there’s the theories about how Morpheus might not be dead—at least not completely—and that he might have found peace and happiness outside of oblivion after all.

One major factor is the fact that Hob dreams about seeing Morpheus and Destruction together after the events of The Wake. While Hob himself dismisses it as “just a dream,” there’s the fact that both Morpheus in-universe and Neil Gaiman out-of-universe both insist that dreams in this series are never “just a dream.” Combine that with what I pointed out about “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and how the story is meant to let the fae live on despite leaving Earth, and it paints an interesting possible picture.

Maybe Morpheus did find a way to leave his job after all. To live on as something else, as Morpheus rather than Dream of the Endless, as a dream or a story or a memory or a friendship, but no matter what, separate from the responsibilities that so stressed him—and with a responsible and eager successor to take up the reins in his place. Maybe Hob’s example of living through everything even showed him that changing with the times is possible. Just walking away like Destruction did wasn’t an option for him, and not just because Morpheus felt he couldn’t abandon his realm without leaving someone to be responsible. He also couldn’t just walk away because, probably, it wouldn’t be dramatic enough!

Come on, Morpheus is a (possibly literal) Drama King; of course he’s not going to quit quietly. Plus, he knows from Destruction’s example that just leaving also leaves open an eternity of the other universal powers trying to nag you into going back. What’s more dramatic, and conveniently going to prevent anyone from coming after you, than making sure everyone thinks you’re dead?

Or, well, actually dying. Sort of. I have no doubt that some aspect of Morpheus died. Perhaps the aspect that was Dream of the Endless, died, but, as I mentioned, left Morpheus to live on separately in some other form. “You cannot kill an idea” can go both ways; it can mean that we’re not supposed to care that Morpheus is dead, or it can mean that Morpheus lives on. He, as an independent identity, with a specific name he has chosen, is also an idea. If the question is “change or die,” it obscures the fact that this is also a universe where people can change by death.

Heck, there’s even an example in this series of people deciding to finally live upon finding themselves post-life. Chapter 4 of Season of Mists introduces the Dead Boy Detectives. At first, much like “Façade,” this chapter seems to have little to do with the overarching story; besides showing how bad it is to have the formerly hell-bound dead returning to Earth and featuring a cameo by Death, there’s little to connect it to the primary narrative. The majority of it is just about two random boys dealing with supernatural bullies, and both ending up having been murdered by the bullies at the end. But, the story ends on the fact that they choose to “make the most of their afterlives.” They leave behind the crappy situation assigned to them by their circumstances by living on in a new form (in the boys’ case, ghosts). If two random kids can do it, why can’t Morpheus do the same?

Actually, there’s a whole lot of events in Season of Mists that I’ve seen propped up as evidence that Morpheus was settling his circumstances to prepare for his suicide, but I believe can just as easily be interpreted otherwise. It could either be him setting up backup plans in case of his accidental imprisonment or death, or even intentional preparations for a successor to take over for him when he dramatically retires rather than straight-up dies. I could fill an entire other essay with that evidence; I planned to include it here but my page count is already far exceeding what I intended, so I’ll save that for a possible later time. If anyone reading made it this far, let me know if you’d like to read that!

So, do I believe in these more optimistic interpretations of the ending? In terms of authorial intent, I’m not sure. I think there’s certainly a reason everything seemed so shockingly pessimistic at first read, and possibly that was the intent. The books were written at a different time, when the author was at a different place in his life. But stories are also about belief. And when the author straight up says that it’s open to interpretation, well… I’d rather choose to believe that this grand, sweeping, thought-provoking narrative isn’t about an irredeemable depressed asshole being rewarded for suicide, with the reader being scolded for caring.

Perhaps asking whether or not that’s “true” is missing the point.

Shifting into JJK Universe!

I had this crazy dream and decided to write it down but with a little twist sksksk 😃

Warning: none, fluff? Manga spoiler inside!

I got this crazy dream when I took a nap in the afternoon. I was doing my college assignments that I ignored for weeks. Tomorrow is the deadline so I literally speedrun my essay to prevent me from failing that class.

It was like 5 pm when I finally sent my essay via email to my professor, there's nothing special that time. But somehow the air feels a bit warmer and I can smell the subtle scent of wet grass because my windows are open. I can see the red sky outside where the sun is barely setting.

And something about it moved me. I pulled my chair closer to my window and sat there for a moment. I rested my chin on the windowsill as I enjoyed the light breeze of passing wind hit me gently.

Being a seventh semester student is tiring, I keep running here and there trying to keep everything together when it's clearly falling apart. I was too busy chasing after my diploma to see the world around me.

I forgot that the world can be so… beautiful.

A smile was curved on my face. It may look like a tired smile, but it feels blissful nonetheless. This simple moment is very precious, where I can breathe easily without worrying about my assignments and grades. I can just simply… breathe.

I wasn't tired, no. I have an even more heavy assignment before. This much doesn't tire me or maybe it's because I didn't realize just how tired I am? Perhaps that's why my eyelids feel so heavy right now.

I got a night class later… a light nap won't be a problem, right?

I'm not the type of person who dreams often. If I do, it would be an absurd type of dream, you know? Like the world is falling into a zombie outbreak and I'm the only human left. It usually ended with me running for my dear life with these left4dead zombies chasing for my ass.

Ugh, it was horrible. I don't wanna remember that dream again. Anyway the funny thing is, whenever I have these dreams I would always be able to access a side menu. Like an in-game menu where you can pause the world, resume the dream, skip the dream, or go back to the main menu a.k.a the real world. Of course, I was quick to choose to skip that dream— just to be chased by abnormal titans in another dream.

This time too, I was playing hide and seek with Huggy Wuggy from the Poppy Playtime game in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory (I know. It was a very wild dream). He found out where I hid, so I tried to run away but my body feels so heavy like time got slowed down but that thing— that blue furry monster walked so quickly towards me and was about to eat me.

I screamed but my voice also pitched down because I'm still stuck in the slow down mode. Thanks to my super quick reflexes, I was able to press the side menu and skip the dream/sarcastic.

So that's why now I'm stuck in this white space. I'm finally able to breathe freely and my movement becomes normal.

I was about to fall because of the sudden change in space, but luckily I was held by someone.

"Geez, that scared the hell out of me." The person who held me said, His voice is surprisingly familiar. "You appeared here out of nowhere and screamed like you're getting possessed." He had the audacity to laugh at my misery. I would be throwing hands and legs at him if only I wasn't so shocked at the current moment.

I let out a coughing fit because of the building tension earlier. My chest feels so tight, it's painful. The pain is very vivid, just like when someone punched you right on your chest. "Holy shit. Should have not watched that youtuber gameplay last night." I muttered between coughs.

"Hey, you're okay? You look a bit pale there." He pushed my chin with his thumb to see my face. I squinted my eyes shut, in fear that he had a disfigured face or something. I don't really think I can handle another jumpscare right now.

Sensing my fear, his voice got softer.

"It's okay. You're okay. Nothing is going to happen to you."

I clearly remember the owner of this voice. Is it really him? Can I open my eyes? What if it's not him? I can count the occasions where I fall for this kind of sweet trap in other dreams, it doesn't end well to say the least.

"I promise."

Oh, wow. He sounds very reliable. Why do I feel like crying?

"Aw, look at you." He ruffled my hair. "You're crying. You were that scared?" I can hear him chuckle lightly. "What kind of monster did you see to make you this scared, huh…" Maybe he took pity on my pathetic self, that's why he's pulling me closer to him.

A bump. Is this… his chest? For your information, yes it was hard. Also, boii, you're going to kill me right here.

"Now you're laughing. Aren't you a weird girl." He hummed, he sounded amused even. Figures, he must've never seen such a weirdo in his life.

But No, you don't understand mister. This is the most delightful dream I ever had in my life. Like for real? I don't wanna this to end.

Get a grip. I immediately slapped myself to stop my concerning train of thoughts. Geez, in all of the people I could have met, I have to embarrass myself in front of him.

Ah, now I wish to disappear.

"Quiet now, aren't we?" I can feel his hands trying to remove my hands that covered my face. "Come on, that's not fair. I let you cry on my chest earlier."

After a bit of pulling and tugging, I finally gave up. He's just that irresistible and also very stubborn.

"Now we're talking!" I opened my eyes and was met with his blue ones. "You're feeling better?"

"... Dear lord."

"Ah? Wah! Why are you falling all of a sudden?!"

"I must've saved a nation from a disaster in my previous life…" I was limp in his arms. My body gave up just like that, there's no ounce of power left. My knees shook like a jelly and my vision is getting blurry because of the rush of serotonin in my veins.

"What are you talking about?" He's enjoying this weird situation. He's pulling my noodle arms and twisting my body as if I'm a kind of a marionette. "You're really weird." He says but he's laughing at my pathetic state. Guess being a clown for my whole life can be advantageous sometimes.

"Thank you." He finally let me sit on the white ground. Currently breathing heavily and in denial.

"Hmmmmmmmm…." He leaned closer. I should've known this man doesn't know the concept of personal space. "I've never seen you before." He then clapped his hand in an excited manner. "Then how about introducing ourselves?"

".... Okay."

"Me first! I'm Gojo Satoru! I'm 28 years old and I'm a teacher!" He extended his hand and I accepted it hesitantly, because I was in awe at the size difference of our hands.

"... I'm Y/N…"

"... And?"

"... I'm 21 years old…"

"Uh-huh."

"And uh, I'm a college student."

"Ah, what semester are you in right now?"

"Seventh semester."

"I see, then you will be graduating soon!" He shook my hand vigorously and my whole body also shook following his movement. "Congrats!"

"I haven't graduated yet, why are you congratulating me?" I smiled.

"Because that means I will be the first to congratulate you!"

"Ah, that makes sense."

"So, you're not asking about what major I studied?" He asked with a wiggle on his eyebrows.

"Why should I?"

"Well because I'm a teacher. Isn't it natural to ask what major I studied?"

"Well, yeah." I nodded. "But then, a sorcerer doesn't have to go to college in order to be a Jujutsu teacher, right?"

He made a big surprised O. His expression is very cute, I can't hold back my laugh. "Are you a psychic?!"

"You can say that." I grinned.

"Oh, a sorcerer and a psychic. That would be a dope story." He smiled, his smile could light up the whole continent.

"I bet." I smiled back.

We spent like hours talking about various things. Mostly about our worlds, he's beyond surprised to hear that curses doesn't exist in my world.

"... That would be a perfect place to live." He told me in a rather solemn voice.

"Maybe."

He raised his eyebrows in question.

"Because in my world, some people have to live with something worse than a curse." I smiled bitterly at the thought. "You can say that we're cursed in one way or another."

"...True," he said. I thought he's a nosy person who invades others' personal space as he likes, but he doesn't push further after that.

"Hey, Gojo."

"What?"

"..." I'm hesitating to say this. I know that our time will be over soon and I don't know if I will be able to meet him again. But I always want to say this to him if I can. This is maybe just a dream, but my heart says otherwise— that's why I need to tell him this.

"... What are you going to say?"

"——————."

His eyes widened after hearing my words.

"Be careful." I told him with a sad smile. His surprised face somehow made me feeling hurt. "I don't want you to hurt even more."

Satoru woke up in a cold sweat.

"... Just a dream." It's supposed to be a dream. But why is his heart racing and filled with such uneasiness?

The words from the stranger in his dream keeps haunting his mind even with his hardest effort to forget it.

"Fuck." He bit his lips as the memory of his dream comes back again.

"Suguru Getou is alive but his body is taken over by Noritoshi Kamo."

EEAAO Connections

More meta! We're going on another long feel trip! Having watched AW2 videos, playthroughs, read multiple wiki pages & having watched Everything Everywhere All At Once (+ insightful meta posts and video essays) I see some overlapping themes and messages 👀 General/vague spoilers for the movie & spoilers for AW2 below

+ additional Koskela feels & thoughts casually sprinkled in <3

I'm going off the concept that there are countless possible loops/alternate timelines/multiple universes in AW2. EEAAO obviously deals with the latter: multiple universes where every choice you make branches off into another reality/universe.

Nihilism, breaking the cycle/spiral

One of the main messages the movie conveys is that yes, the universe may not care about us, our actions may and can be insignificant in the big scheme of things. But that doesn't mean we cannot choose love, for ourselves and others. As this post brilliantly pointed out: in the universes where the characters choose nihilism through negative actions and not care about others, they sorta ruin/worsen their own lives. But once the characters choose love and empathy for themselves and others, their lives improve for the better.

You can see similar thoughts reflected in AW2. If we go with the idea that the Shadows in the Dark Place (DP) are past Alan (they even are his 3d model) and perhaps even versions where he kills himself, haven't led Alan out of the DP or the Darkness at all. They're literally dead ends. But only once he begins accepting external help (Saga, Rose and of course Alice) is he able to advance out of the spiral. It's also his love for Alice that keeps him going after all those years.

(Which is a similar point made in this post where the post argues that it's not destruction (parallel/similar to pessimistic nihilism) that can help you break free from the spiral but ascension (//love, support from others))

Choices & love

Now, venturing more into Koskela territory (this is a Koskela love blog after all)

What I loved in the EEAAO is that some characters are aware of these multiple universes and even if not, they long for a universe that exists somewhere else. In this post it's outlined that Waymond, who's a rich successful businessman in one universe, still longs for a domestic "poorer" life with Evelyn, doing simple taxes and having a laundromat business. That's the life the main story's universe takes place in, basically. Just ughh, the idea that gets me that people will choose to be together in every possible universe, or that they'd choose one humble universe over any other version where they might be more "successful" but separate from one another.

And I feel this would apply to the Koskelas too. Those brothers are soulmates. @zephyrone01 said that if Saga could still profile Jaakko after his death, Jaakko would've probably said that he loved Ilmo and didn't regret any of it and <33

The Koskelas would love each other and die for each other but also desperately try to save each other in every loop, every iteration and alternate reality/universe. I've been thinking about what-ifs: what if one of them is aware of the loops, what if they're both aware or subconsciously know what will happen/can happen. They would try to prevent each other from dying. They would and they keep on fighting for each other but also for their town and the people that they clearly love. Ilmo and Jaakko wouldn't put all that money and energy into their various businesses if they didn't believe Watery and its people still have a chance.

@zephyrone01 and I've been discussing many such what-if scenarios. Maybe it would've been easier for them if they just packed their business, aware of how dangerous BF & Watery are, but that's not their way. Even if they know the dangers and the tragic future ahead, they are willing to fight for who they love, what they love and they'll desperately clutch onto the hope that maybe, just maybe the next loop will be different and more positive.

And maybe there's a reality where they left or gave up but other versions of them would be (subconsciously) reminded of these darker futures and realize that staying and fighting has a much better outcome, even if the stakes remain high and one or both might still die as a result. But they would still choose any of those universes where they stay and fight because they have each other and it would've been worth it anyway. Even if the pain of losing the other will be painful and unbearable, it means they loved deeply and cared dearly.

I have so many feelings about the Koskelas man 😭😭😭 I hope this post was somewhat comprehensible and cohesive.

So yeah, TLDR: it's corny but love, empathy and compassion are the answer in every universe. Love for yourself and the people around you. It can help you get into the light. Maybe choosing this life is enough even if you don't leave the biggest impact because there are people you care about and who care about you too. And that's all that matters, really.

i feel like augustin was making paddy's storyline a bit less bleak than it was historically and i was looking forward to seeing what they would do with them in s2. well, i guess joke's on us for getting attached to a frenchman...

I put off answering this ask because I KNEW that the moment I did I would start rambling and it sounds like that time has come so I am sorry in advance my friend

But, yeah, you've hit the nail on the head. Part of my attachment to having Augustin in s2, and to Augustin and Paddy, is specifically the fact that I just would really, REALLY like for Paddy to heal. I know that historical Paddy Mayne never really recovered from Eoin McGonigal's death, but they have taken other narrative liberties with the show and characters, and also, and this is kinda snarky, I just don't think that makes for a very interesting storyline to watch? Obviously grief in real life CAN be, and often is, like that, but when you are watching a show, you don't wanna sit through a character stuck in the same loop of grief for four seasons. Especially because (1)this show is not a tragedy. Yes, tragic things happen, but an important element of tragedy is the futility of the characters' actions to prevent the tragedy from happening. While this story STARTS with a tragedy, that first jump that doomed so many of them, we know that it won't END that way, because we know that most of these men will live, and more importantly, we know that their actions are not futile. With that in mind, the idea of Paddy's ending being him alone with his grief doesn't really sit well with me. Also because, (2) it's not like it would be hard to showcase that a part of Paddy will forever be defined by the loss of Eoin, while still giving him a healing process and a happier ending than he got to have IRL (there is a whole other rant here about how queer people engage with historical fiction and especially biographical historical fiction, which I actually wrote a wholeass essay about a few years ago lmao. Anyway).

And at least for me, it's important that part of that healing process DOES involve him having a romantic relationship again (I would be fine with it being just implied, the way it was with Eoin, though I would prefer it if it wasn't, because if Stirling gets to fuck his made up girlfriend in the sand, then Paddy should be allowed to kiss a man, but I digress). And the reason for that is that... ok, let's talk about Eoin. We actually know SO little about Eoin. There are hints here and there, but Eoin's main role within the story is loving Paddy (and also dying. And haunting the narrative). Which is fascinating, because I feel like while Paddy is casual about it, he does have a bit of a Thing about being unlovable and unlikeable - he tries to own up to it, but he slips a few times, like when he remarks that he will go to Stirling's funeral because Stirling liked him, FOR SOME REASON, and also his general deer-caught-in-headlights look when Eoin offers him affection, like he can't quite believe it's happening. Which is partly why the loss of Eoin hits SO hard - because Eoin loved him, in spite of everything about him, Eoin loved him so much that it was his main defining trait. And I fully believe that once he died, Paddy also saw that as losing the only chance he was ever going to get at love, because who else could ever love him, when he has the heart's invisible furies within him?

And THAT'S when Augustin enters. He meets Paddy at his absolute worst, he watches him try to prove to him how ~fucked up and terrible~ he is... and he is immediately delighted. Like, yes, Paddy and Augustin drive each other up the wall IMMEDIATELY, but also Augustin likes him SO MUCH. My man watched Paddy try to shoot himself in front of him to prove a point, after manhandling him into the sand and holding a knife to his throat, and then was like omg girlllll are you single? Yes and that's why you are like this? Oh I am sorry but also good to know. AND THEN HE WATCHED HIM ATTACK HIS FRIENDS BECAUSE OF A FUCKING PIANO and was still just so happy and charmed when Paddy's way of apologising was cooking them a gazelle and suffering NO consequences. Like GOD he was down SO bad SO quickly, and that was after seeing the absolute WORST of Paddy, and sure, that's because Augustin is also insane, but so is Paddy, so they'd be great together. And I think that would have been so meaningful, for Augustin to grab Paddy's cheeks and squeeze them and go, "FUCK YOU, I AM GOING TO LOVE YOU, WITH ALL THE DEMONS". Can you imagine? What it would be like for Paddy, who thinks he's never going to be loved again, to have someone who doesn't just love him in spite of the warning signs, but because of them?

The way I see it, with Augustin out of the picture, there are two possible routes the show can take. The first is remaining closer to history, probably giving him some sort of healing process that involves his community but without a romance, accepting that Paddy's chances at romantic love really did die with Eoin. Which would be, like, fine, but I have already explained why I don't love it. Or, they give Paddy a different romance, but the thing is that I sincerely doubt they are gonna be able to manage something that's as interesting as whatever Paddy and Augustin have got going on - they've really captured such a unique, fascinating dynamic, and I don't think they could replicate it with a different character. Similarly, the new character would either not experience Paddy at his worst, which makes the romance less meaningful imo, or they would just have to make Paddy regress to episode 5 levels of insanity again, which would not be especially interesting to watch, since WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT.

so, yeah. tbh I am just going to put on my clown nose and large shoes and bright coloured wig and hope that we get Augustin back for s3, cause I do genuinely think he is the best character progression possible for Paddy. and also because I want my insane frenchman back goddamnit

I am so sorry, I suffer from clinical brain rot (autism and being dense), I swear! I did think it was just a little odd that you called them cowboy children but I was trying not to judge, lol ^-^ Anyway, of course I can do that, Anon.

Okay, so what I meant by recruits being terrified is because Rodolfo's punishments aren't like extra drills or push ups or the usual stuff. His are making you write 10k word essays and book reports for arguably the most boring literature.

Alejandro just does basic shit because he never has the capacity to be creative since he’s usually fairly busy (plus he lowkey feels kind of bad)

Worst punishment Rodolfo has ever given was for a recruit being sexist and he made him fill an entire notebook, front to back, with the same line over and over

Also, new recruits severely underestimate just how bad that is to do until they have to do it.

Both Rodolfo and Alejandro have kind of just stopped attaching themselves to the recruits until they finish BCT and even there, it’s still a toss up if the cartel will get to them or not so they’ve both learned to keep their distance. However, they are both pretty close to the ones that end up staying.

Alejandro is super lenient when it comes to family issues because of the cartel because he’s been there, and all in all, he believes it makes them fight harder to change things.

All in all, Alejandro is respected, but not really feared.

It’s kind of accepted by everyone that you go to Rodolfo first for serious matters, because he gets shit done

Alejandro is for everything else

Rodolfo is sympathetic but still doesn’t let much fly, even with Trainers, so he’s frequently asked to be there during teamwork drills

He’s not really intimidating but the trainers seem just a little apprehensive about him, so most recruits do eventually catch on

Alejandro and Rodolfo break rules. A lot. Because, however, they’re the only ones working on a huge problem that was arguably preventable, and don’t complain much about it, they’re kind of just left alone. It’s one reason why the bond between everyone at the base is so deep. Alejandro will cover your back as long as you’re loyal.

Of course, this freedom does mean that they rarely receive actual help when they need it.

Oh, that’s Alejandro’s main rule: do not make me do extra paperwork or you’re running extra drills.

Rodolfo does half the paperwork, anyway, so he doesn’t know why Alejandro whines so much about it.

I've been rifling through my rewatch thoughts about Astrid all day and I was going to make a joke about "no one needs me to contribute a post about Astrid being an interesting depiction of a victim of abuse when it has been written about" but fuck it, no such thing as too much Astrid, in this essay I will. I think if you ask "What makes Astrid compelling," most people will indeed say something about her being a depiction of many years of abuse, especially since she's a bad victim (in the sense of being too compliant with her abuser, not being too loud and crazy).

Part of what makes her a compelling depiction of someone who has been abused for many years is the way Mercer portrays her ability to think multiple things at one. It's not a binary where the way Trent messed with her head didn't work and she's secretly a good guy, or she's evil without his coercion and believes everything she says about protecting the Empire. She's just having to do what people in abusive situations do, and keep multiple levels of thought and consciousness going at once, feeling some degree of support for Trent in part of her mind while knowing what's happening in another part.

When Caleb shows up at Astrid's house, she's been trapped by their abuser for nearly twenty years. She tortures and murders for the Dwendalian Empire and she both does and doesn't know that what she does as a scourger is horrific. She tells Caleb that she thinks of the faces of the people she's killed and laments, and in the same conversation she tells him that what she does prevents terrible things from happening and protects innocent people like they used to be. She conveys to him that she wants to kill Trent. She conveys to him that she wants to take Trent's place.

Being a d&d wizard is about knowledge. The wizard plotlines in cr2 are epistemic, focused on what can be known, remembered, realized and discovered: Trent and the scourgers, Vess and the ancient knowledge she uses Lucien to try to harness, Essek, and even Yussa and his focus on Who You Know.

Many popular narratives of abuse are also about knowledge. "Knowing" is conflated with "escaping:" the abuse victim is too naive to realize they are being abused, and if they had that knowledge, surely their next step would be escape. Surely abuse is a fluke, and a strong person will always be able to get away.

"A Volstrucker has never disentangled from Trent before. No one who knows what he does, how he breaks us, has shared their trauma with the world. With the king. Imagine the threat you are to him now that you carry respect of both crown and Kryn. So yes, he's invested."

Astrid knows. She knows the nature of what Trent has done to them. She knows what outsiders would think about Trent's abuse if they were to hear about it from someone they respect. The knowledge alone is not enough to save her.

The horrific abuse of the scourgers is administrated by Trent but enabled by their world. Margolin sends the Blumendrei to Trent. Their professors ignore the bandages on their arms. Ludinus is looking the other way. If a powerful "good" person were to know what Trent has done, that would also mean knowing what his scourgers have done, and who, they must wonder, would be willing to help them then?

Astrid knows she does not have the recourse of that respect from the Crown. She knows she does not have powerful allies to protect her from Trent if she were to run away. At their first meeting, all it takes is for Caleb to express open anger at their abuser - and accuse her of not understanding what he does - for her to tell him her own recourse.

LIAM: "I, um…I'm sorry. I will…never forget what we were. And…even now, all these years later, I can't shake it, I still, care a great deal…about you. At least…the girl I knew. But…he has blinded you. You and Wulf and all of his little helpers. And I mourn our childhood, and our souls." MATT: She reaches up, puts her hand on your knee. "I understand your anger. And as much as…he's been our teacher, he's not infallible. He's just an old man, with the right connections, who will one day pass, like they all do." LIAM: "You always were ambitious." MATT: "So are you, apparently, Bren. Like I said. I'm proud of you."

Her frame of reference for Bren is "also ambitious, also a victim," and she trusts him to understand how ambition and safety are the same thing for her. Astrid's hell and Caleb's hell have been so different for the last decade and a half that he misreads the situation in a single line - you always were ambitious - and throws her under the bus at the dinner party, taking her ambition as a cue to see her as less endangered, or less salvageable.

Both their horrible wizard goals - turning back time or becoming an archmage of the Cerberus Assembly - are the multiple of power as safety. Caleb hasn't realized that his own desire to bend reality to his will to save his parents is hubris, so he can't do the math backwards and realize that Astrid's ambition is {her way of saving Eadwulf and herself; her own way of responding to the death of her parents; a desire for magic and power that is inseparable from both of those things}. Like...it's open to interpretation, but I think the answer to "Does Astrid also have evil unsympathetic ignoble desire for power?" is that "also" isn't the right word. Power is magic is safety is a reward for her suffering, and Astrid's ambition, like everything else in her life, means many things at once.

Trent chose to abuse the scourgers and their world chose to let him. Astrid survives Trent for over a decade and a half, helps the Mighty Nein, and saves them in Nicodranas. For Caleb? As a maneuver to save herself? That also might be a question with more than one answer. I don't have a conclusion to this other than hats off to this coerced evil wizard for being an interesting depiction of strength in extremis, figuring out how to know multiple things at once when even her magic isn't her own and hang on all that time.

excellent. you may regret doing so.

maglor and fingolfin share similar positions of being the second son to an important father and have carved out niches for themselves (maglor’s music vs fingolfin’s politics) as a result of this. where this pairing really gets me going, however, is immediately after fingolfin’s host arrives in beleriand. here, fingolfin has just suffered the loss of his (favourite? i choose to believe so) son, has spent 30 years fighting for survival on the helecaraxeë, shouldered the grief of his people and loved ones (because we all know that turgon got mega fucked up by elenwë’s death), is likely still reeling from finwë’s death and the noldor’s subsequent rebellion/exile, and was betrayed and abandoned by the brother he gave up everything to follow. that same brother who is now dead! before he has the chance to air any of this out! and, instead of his eldest nephew ruling in fëanor’s place, he instead meets maglor. maglor who never expected or prepared to be king, has little to no political experience, (is possibly dealing with the death of his youngest brother if we go with the crispy!amrod draft), and has given maedhros up for dead, because what else can he do! imo, this creates a delicious scenario for angsty conflict where fingolfin is both desperate to lash out and duty-bound to protect his people, and maglor is haunted by grief and guilt but will stubbornly hold onto his and his house’s power as long as he can. and then when fingon fucks off to rescue maedhros leaving maglor and fingolfin the heads of a very divided people held together on a string. and i feel like fingolfin would see ruling as more of a calling than maglor does, but maglor’s pride and his love for fëanor prevent him ever ceasing power to fingolfin, despite them both knowing he’s far more equipped for it. they’re both seeking to almost torment the other because they have their own guilt they can’t confront and the more they turn to each other, they build a relationship, and intimacy. and that guilt builds.

i think that a maglor/fingolfin relationship would be a perfect blend of repression, poor coping mechanisms, the confusion of familial and romantic love, seeking comfort in the other, and long debates over the nature of loyalty and duty. i think what began as a form of self-flagellation and punishment to inflict on each other turns to finding comfort in incredibly trying conditions turns to an affair they both hate themselves for but can’t bring themselves to stop. it’s also the perfect relationship to use if you want to pick apart the “saint fingolfin” narrative and get real gritty with them both.

in summary, vote magolfin in this year’s election

(also the potential for maglor/fingolfin to do the rhaenyra/daemon “take me to dragonstone and make me your wife” is incredibly sexy but I understand that it’s a completely personal taste)

This season is practically shouting at its audience how it’s about DEATH and ENDINGS and SACRIFICES FOR WHAT YOU LOVE, huh.

Interesting that both Ketch and Rowena die in this episode, both in ways that... redeem them, I suppose is the best way to put it. Ketch dies because he won’t give up Sam & Dean, in contrast to his villainy from S12, while Rowena dies for her belief and faith in magic, and in doing so saves the world, at least for a little while.

SAM There has to be another way. ROWENA I wish there were... I do. I don't care about anything enough to take my own life. Not you, your brother... not even the world. But I believe in prophecy. I believe in magic. And I'm here, and you're here, and everything we need to end this right is in our hands. [She puts the dagger in Sam's hands and tries to get him to stab her.] ROWENA I know this in my bones... it has to be this way. Do it! Kill me, Samuel! [SAM hesitates. ROWENA puts a hand on his shoulder.] ROWENA I know we've gotten quite fond of each other, haven't we? But will you let the world die, let your brother die, just so I can live? ... SAM No. [He stabs her, crying. ROWENA touches his face.] ROWENA That's my boy.

I really do not care for Rowena as a character, so surprisingly I found her death kind of touching. I’ve read some view of the later seasons as very pessimistic - Sam wants to prevent Rowena’s death and he’s unable to, that’s her “fate” that can’t be changed - and I get where ppl are coming from but... if one’s fate = death, then can that really be changed? Isn’t death the one inevitability in life? SPN has been grappling with the force & tragedy & horror & inevitability of death since S1, after all.

CASTIEL The plan changed, Dean. Something went wrong. You know this. Something always goes wrong. DEAN Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you? [CASTIEL stares at him, stunned and hurt.] CASTIEL You used to trust me, give me the benefit of the doubt. Now you can barely look at me. My powers are failing, and – and I've tried to talk to you, over and over, and you just don't want to hear it. You don't care. I'm... dead to you. You still blame me for Mary. [DEAN nods.] CASTIEL Well, I don't think there's anything left to say. [CASTIEL makes to leave.] DEAN Where you going? CASTIEL Jack's dead. Chuck's gone. You and Sam have each other. I think it's time for me to move on.

I still can’t believe there isn’t more Berens criticism in fandom - there’s so much to dislike!! There really are striking dysfunctional dynamics & emotional patterns in how Berens characterizes many of the show’s characters and within his interpersonal relationships that I don’t see talked about enough, tbh. (Maybe I should write my ‘why 12x22 is lowkey incredibly messed up’ essay. For all the people love to criticize the show, I’m surprising more people accept the show’s framing of it as a heartwarming ep for Dean & Mary, instead of how disturbing it really is, imo.)

Case in point here: so much of Berens’s emotional conflicts centers on Dean’s excessive anger/resentments/holding onto hurt feelings, which then drives the conflict between him and other characters, and is always resolved thru Dean’s forgiveness/letting go of his hurts. And I’m so tired of it. There’s an element of this dynamic that’s been the show for a long time (e.g., Bobby’s “boo hoo princess!” speech from 4x22) but it just gets worse and more dysfunctional and more boring as it keeps playing out.

Just 'cause I'm really intrigued by this (and more or less tempted to draw..) do you have any designs/references for your Renegade Detective AU gang? Could help to also ramble a bit on their world and setting, even if you don't write it out. Always cool to get info about these fellas, might even help you brainstorm on plots and such for later whenever : )

Luckily for me, this is literally the only AU I have planned start to finish. I could write a whole essay, but I don't want to drop everything at once right now. :3

Also to anyone reading this, spoilers but not really since all of this would be in the prologue/chapter one, and I'm like 70% sure I'll never write this fanfic, but still.

So I'm lazy, and can't be bothered to redraw OG Pico into what Soft Pico is wearing, but that's basically what the uniform of the SCF (Special Crime Forces) is. This squad was created with Detective Pico as its leader, and they deal with any crimes where demons are involved. Forensics scientist Darnell wears a purple shirt. He's also the one who creates weapons, sprays, tranquilizers, and any other means of self defense that are effective against demons. Criminal analyst Nene wears pink. She gathers intel from less legitimate sources, keeps an eye on the black market for items of interests, and helps Pico determine what a suspect's next course of an action could be. She also tore the sleeves off of her blazer since she gives no fucks, and the higher ups can't do shit about it since Pico and his crew are the only one with the balls to deal with demons.

Pico is the only one of the trio to have dual pistols. One is a black one called Noir. He uses this gun for humans, and other creatures that don't require magical means to be harmed. His runic pistol is white, and is called Blanc. BF gave this to him back in college, and its enchanted by magical runes that allow him to harm demons, or any other entity that can't be harmed by non-magical means. He is considered a renegade in the force since he will break protocols/the law, and disobey orders if it meant saving the lives of others. Due to him and his squad being the only ones capable of dealing with demons, he hasn't gotten fired for his insubordination yet.

I quickly drew BF's design since I never drew him in full yet, but just imagine him with his usual hair, and pants matching his vest. The lines on his horns represent his energy level. This energy is required for him to live, and incubi/succubi can regain this energy by simply seeing certain thoughts/desires of those around them. Unfortunately for BF, he is unable to gain the energy he needs like others of his kind. This is due to an arch demon punishing him with a curse for betraying the clan, and preventing them from killing Pico, Darnell, Nene, and other students at college. This curse harms him if he doesn't actively block out the desires of others, and the only way for him to regain energy is to take the souls of others, killing them in the process. No one else knows about this until way later in the story. This demon attack on the college was also the reason why BF was forced to drop his human illusion, and his use of charm magic in combat causes Pico to jump to the conclusion that the incubus charmed him to make him fall in love, and breaks up with him. With the bad reputation of his kind at this point of time, BF had no chance to explain himself.

BF doesn't see Pico again until a few years later where a new program that employs demons as emotional support was made. This program is an attempt to improve the reputation of demons, and to show the general public that not all demons are a threat. With the help of the ginger's father (tank dad, yippee!), BF convinces the ginger to put an anti-magic bracelet on him to prove that no magic will get in the way of regaining his trust. He also cooks for him, plays his saxophone for BGM despite Pico's annoyance, and helps him fight demons once the detective trusts him enough to not use magic on him or his friends.

To give you a better idea what BF and Pico's dynamic will be like, here's a short dialogue exchange between the two of them when the ginger trusts BF enough to use lower level magic. A level of magic that allows him to see the thoughts/desires of others.

"Thanks, Pico. I promise to only look when I really need the ener- Wait. Why is your head empty?"

Pico simply shrugged in response despite knowing he had protection against the magic BF was using.

"Has your standards gotten higher since we broke up? Is my ass too small? Too big? Is my chest window not big enough? Is lean and muscular not good enough for you now? Do I have to work out?" He looked at himself in the mirror. "Actually, fuck everything I just said. I'm perfect the way I am. Still though, there's a hottie right in front of you, and you don't even have the smallest dirty thought of him?"

"Hm... Maybe you're not trying hard enough."

"Excuse me? You have no fucking idea how hard it is," he gestured to himself as he walked away to question his abilities as an incubus. "To look this good. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to... Do maintenance on my saxophone."

The moment the door closed, Pico chuckled to himself. "Fucking idiot."

6 years ago I gave some advice...

Let's see if I still agree with myself.

Write a script in literaturic form before turning it into comic, the script of the comic must be in advance at least three arcs before you start submitting content to the webs.

I still agree with that, but I don't think you need to go out of your way to write a script, you should also have a general plan of how things will go, even after the first three arcs. But a more "literaturic" script would also work, so you don't come up with shit on the fly.

List each planned thing for the future of your comic so you know what to foreshadow, if you lose interest on a thing you can remove it and all references to it from the script before you have published it. This prevents plot points that lead to nothing, and pointless foreshadowing.

Yes I agree with that, but there are more things to hint at future plot points and revelations than foreshadowing.

Even then it's not the biggest crime in the world if some plot point is abandoned in favour of something else, especially if there is some critical backlash or you feel like the idea isn't good enough. There is a rejected plot point in Peter and Company I won't spoil, but am glad was never really followed up on.

Not everything that suddenly comes is needed to be foreshadowed or built up to, but if it’s a huge twist, like character learning a new ability, don’t pull it out of the blue. Try to be as clever as possible but not too subtle.

I agree, but I do think sometimes ass pulls are justified when they're realistic like, I don't know, suddenly some character gets hit by a car and dies. Because that shit happens in real life. Of course it depends on how it's written, like don't make the character into a blatant diebait, and don't include it for the sake of a SHOCK.

Learn to keep an appropriate distance between comedy and serious stuff, comedy usually lightens serious story if used properly. And if you intend your comedy comic to be comedy, keep it comedy. Don’t transist to seriousness out of nowhere for whatever reason, because it’ll never stop being a comedy despite this. Take my advice.

Yeah.

Avoidfor the love of god taking influences from other webcomics, because those webcomics usually have taken their influence from shit things. Read books, and official printed comics, as well as pick up possible advice books written by masters of creative writing.

Yeah this feels overly elitist. Because just because you're inspired by something written by a great literaturist, doesn't mean your stuff will be good. You can take influence from bad webcomics too, you just have to make it better. Like Gene Catlow has a lot of great concepts, but you have to alter them, like Friendship Island would work well as a villain masquerading as a good entity.

Don’t plagiarize. Just because someone did it cool doesn’t mean you also do it cool. Think this is a school essay and that plagiarizing automatically gives your webcomic F–.

This is pretty useless advice because unless you're SuperSaiyanCrash you always have some awareness that you can't just completely rip something off from a more well-known source.

Not all non-webcomic influences are good though, so avoid using Dragon Ball Z, Lord of The Rings, H.P. Lovecraft’s work and other over-referenced things as influence. Someone’s masterpiece can be your disaster.

I...what? Yeah I probably used to think pop culture references were "influences" or something. And I remember I used to really hate superforms. Otherwise I can't make sense about any of this.

Underrated Creator of Influence is Music, listen to it and form images in your head what atmosphere you want your comic to have.

I agree, go with the mindset that the music you're listening to is like the soundtrack of your comic, and it might help paint a scene.

The most underappreciated influence of them all however, is the real life. I’m not talking putting self-inserts, but rather study nature, learn to use your imagination to make the most boring thing exciting and see fucked up dreams. Avoid doing drugs though, drug-influenced media was only acceptable in 80′s.

This is terrible advice. What can you learn from nature? Unless you're trying to look for backgrounds and doing "pollution bad" story. Nature is something that should be reserved for mindfulness, not creativity.

I think going "HAHAHA WAS THIS MADE ON DRUUUUUUUGS" to anything weird or surreal is cringe, and the last part is not helping that. That and I have some friends whose creativity has been boosted from smoking weed. Just don't overdo it, and don't use dangerous shit like DMT.

There are two important rules regarding this type of story. First, don’t make characters, especially the main one, your mouthpiece or make your opinion or point of view the character’s good opinion, because that leads to Strawmanism, mary sue self-inserts and circlejerk hivemind settings buzzword buzzword.

I am...torn on this. I know that people love to say "every fictional character ever is a selfinsert" which is fucking wrong, but isn't the point of a story you're always trying to make the story's theme, message and whatnot align with how you see the world? Some people do it in more nuanced ways than others. And obviously the protagonist isn't always going to be good or sympathetic. I like a hero with flaws more than a perfect hero. I think my general point here is "the hero should not be a carbon copy of the author, unless you have some justification for it." And no, there is no such thing as "semi-autobiographical".

The Second Important Rule is Five Nos of Webcomic Subjects, five themes you must never insert into your webcomic, especially if you’re not a good writer and add them for “shock” or “drama”. They are environmental messages, political opinions on gun control, using anthropomorphic animals to carry anti-racism messages, miscarriage and rape. Using any of these in serious manner you have gone too far for attention and usually this leads to your comic becoming internet infamous, unless getting publicity one way or another is okay.

Five Nos of Webcomic Subjects is something I wish I had never come up with. Mainly because it feels like policing. That being said I do agree that using rape as a shock factor is terrible. The only way it's justified is if you're writing it to cope with your trauma of being SA'd or raped in the past. Rest of these topics should be handled with the biggest fucking nuance you possibly can. I don't know why I put gun control there, I am not even american!

Aesops are okay, and it’s okay for characters to teach something that you also see as a right method of life, but don’t teach that anyone who opposes it is a villain or such. You’re not George Orwell or Ayn Rand.

Oh for fucks sake. It's literally impossible to depict "side you hate" as not a strawman. I am not going to further touch this topic because the discourse around this topic is so rotten to the point it gives me radiation poisoning.

Never do something for shock value, don’t just avoid stuff that’s listed on the list of Five Nos, but also the murder of a child or an animal most people find adorable. You’re an absolute piece of shit and should stay away from anything creative as far as possible unless you’re intentionally doing this just to trigger people and cause controversy, then you’re just a loser.

Settings that are set on Fantasy World, High School, Space or Superhero-infested universe are overdone, so if you’re using it try to pull an interesting twist to it. If you’re not trying to break any new grounds, just try writing an entertaining story.

Once again this is elitist. It's not cliche to have a story on any of these settings, it's about how you portray it. That being said if you're doing it with "I hate every work set on this genre" mindset, I will make fun of you.

I still agree with the last part though. Not everything needs to be a deconstruction or subvertation of expectations.

For the love of god, AVOID settings where anthropomorphic animals and humans live together in harmony or war. This is never done properly. Ever. Also, if you’re trying to do anthropomorphic animal story, don’t do it to expose your furriness. You can also make an anthro animal story entertaining.

I disagree with all of this. I think it's all bullshit. Sad truth is furries are more dedicated to the craft of writing webcomics than anybody else. Why else would I have SO MANY furry webcomics on the rifflist???

No character in your comic should ever have a superform, moving on.

Female characters are an interesting piece of cake,let’s get this down though, Strong Independent Female Characters are even more blander than stereotypical damsels.They have only one character trait, they‘re women but they fight.Making your female character STRONK and INDEPENDENT isn’t revolutionary, it’s as generic as possible. What you should do is to write female characters like how you see them suiting your story without trying to pander to PC bullshit, because then you just come across as pretentious.

I still...kinda agree with this aside from the last part. Let's just say, the defining trait of a female character shouldn't be they're a woman. It goes both ways.

Villains must have a motivation, other than “i’m evil”, “i want revenge” and “i represent the side of the world author finds uncomfortable and scary”. You know you’ve made a bad villain if you’ve basically created an edgy teenager who might also be a school shooter. Villains need to show sympathy to at least someone and they should also have an excellent fashion sense. I’ve heard someone say Flawed Webcomic Protagonist makes a good villain, so seek on to that.

Flawed Webcomic Protagonist still makes a good villain and Gene Catlow is proof of that.

Once again this feels elitist. We kinda live in post-villain society where a lot of the mainstream stuff is afraid to depict a villain that is evil for the sake of evil. It's funny how villains who have sympathetic backstories became so common when in real life, evil people are evil for the sake of being evil.

But what about a third option, a villain who thinks they are the hero? Someone who acts like everything they do is for the greater good, they've just mastered good PR, therapy speak and logical fallacy accusations to make themselves unquestionable source of virtue? The definition of "Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions".

I used to not understand what they meant by "villain who thinks they're the hero" until I saw what Family of Intelligent Life is. This goes back to Flawed Webcomic Protagonists making good villains.

But seriously, I feel like "haha is that a fetish" has harmed creativity immensely. We have people overreacting on Twitter to that new Mario game because there's inflations and elephants.

Yes, there are times when writer's overly specifc fetish sticks out like a sore thumb and webcomics are the biggest example of this, but don't act like it's possible to make something with nothing anybody would find kinky. It's only bad when a sicko is making something absolutely disgusting that they get off to under the guise of "commentary" or "horror" (again, looking at you UrbanSPOOK)

I am not the kind of person to be asked about this, because i believe good script makes up for bad art, but good art doesn’t make up for bad script, you heard it Spinnerette.

I STILL stand by this after all these years. That being said, good script can't justify inconsistent artstyles, bad designs or worse redesigns!

I have one thing to say about art, if you want to go with anime-inspired style, it’s okay. Just don’t include chibi faces or other animu art cliches.

I still don't like chibi faces. Oddly enough it's a webcomic specific issue. I don't really have an issue about those in anime and manga because they have the hometown advantage, of course if it's overused or it causes tonal issues I am still going to complain about that.

Don’t get your style inspired from so-called “Cal Arts style”, or Steven Universe art style. This website fucking loves that style, and it’s used to make some terrible false-ass diversity shit. Even good script can’t save how simplistic and….ugly that style is.

I stopped using that term the minute I learned John Kricfalusi was the one to create that term, and it didn't originally even apply to Steven Universe style, just any mainstream american style in general. John K's style is not any better.

What people call "Cal Arts style" has been on its way out since the pandemic, and it's just another style that will pass. I think people only hated it because of the Tumblr noses. Like I am willing to admit, I hate the tumblr noses too, but it's odd because Steven Universe almost never features those noses.

I will still raise an eyebrow if I see a webcomic use that style instead of something more unique. But trust me, I've seen bad artstyles that are even worse than the "Cal Arts" style.

Let’s get one thing down, react to critism with neutrality, don’t get angry at people who don’t like your comic. I know there’s a difference between troll saying “this is shit” for cheap reaction and a person in actual real life way disliking your comic, but as person with good guts you should learn to see the difference.

Yes, not sure what critism is, but it's funny how I advocate for neutrality when I also tell you to learn to differentiate between flaming and reviewing.

Listen, flaming, riffing and reviewing are all different levels of criticism. Flaming is destructive, reviewing is constructive and riffing is...in between. Like obviously I am not going to start acting like my blog is all 100% constructive criticism, I like having fun, I like cussing out fictional characters, I like making stupid theories. But if the author of any comic I was riffing came to me, I would be able to present them with genuine critique. And that's why I make separate reviews for webcomics after the riffing is over. I am also open to criticism myself, which is why I am critiquing all this advice!

If people start liking a character audience isn’t supposed to like, don’t kill them off. It just makes you come across as petty douche. Unless you’re trying to be George R.R. Martin, then at least kill them because plot demands them to be killed.

I still agree a lot with the first part. Don't kill a fanfavourite off just because you don't like them.

Killing characters is rather so-and-so, don't do it for the sake of a shock. And also if the character is dead, most of the time they should stay DEAD. Don't pull Marvel or Dragon Ball and resurrect everyone all the time.

And that was me critiquing my old advice. A lot of it is a product of my mindset back then, but there was still a lot of valid advice. And it could've been a lot worse, it could've been Lily Orchard's writing advice. I might look at that another day.

What happened to you? You got jaded about your twdg posts?

What happened? *shrug* Life, probably.

Honestly, I've been pretty jaded about TWDG for a while, mostly when it comes to the fandom and a lot of my old work. It's been freeing to not feel compelled to be here and constantly posting like I used to. I show up when I want, post what I want, and I've stopped caring what people might say or feel. That's definitely had an impact on what I do post these days.

Like... we've talked about everything, y'know? I've answered the same asks over and over again, we've discussed everything, and there's nothing new to talk about. Except for the comics. Hence why I'm mostly talking about that. Hate 'em all you want, but it's new and more fun to talk about than answering "what do you think happened to Christa?" for the hundredth time.

Even with Louis there just isn't anything more I can say about him. I've said it all. There's nothing new I can say. He's still my boy, I love him. But I can only write so many essays talking about his vote, or why he and Clementine are my favorite couple, or why he's my favorite character in TWDG. I know I always give y'all the ol' "Oh one day I'll write that Louis character analysis" but I've already done it. It's just spread out all over my blog.

I've talked about the burnout I experienced while running this blog a couple years ago when I was doing themed nights, writing fics and analyses, all that. As in the burnout was severe and I've only recently gotten back into creative writing and have been able to stick with it. And I'm not writing TWDG fics anymore.

After spending so much time away, I've gone back and looked through a lot of my old stuff on ao3 and I see it all through different eyes.

It's a complicated feeling to be like "I'm proud that I wrote this much and that people liked my stories, that's a feeling I'll always cherish" but also feeling "I hate everything I wrote for TWDG, how did any of you tolerate me?" at the same time. While I have a lot of positive feelings about my fics, I've become very critical of that stuff and have many negative feelings about [with you] in particular that tend to overshadow the good a lot of the time.

And I feel bad about that. [with you] was my most popular story but I made bad choices that prevented me from finishing it, and now it's discontinued and a lot of people are pissed at me for that and they're not shy about letting me know... well, actually they are shy; they always tell me on anon. But I feel bad about letting my readers down but I'm also not going to force myself to do something I don't want to do.

So... yeah, I'm jaded about TWDG and my content. There's nothing new to talk about, I'm not writing anymore TWDG fanfiction. I'm happy to talk about the Clementine comics, I answer asks, and occasionally I do get the itch to write about something else, but I've moved on. The creative writing I'm doing right now is for a Dragon Age fic and I'm trying to learn from my mistakes from my TWDG stuff to not repeat them with this. I have a DA side blog that I have posts planned for. That's about it.
