Dragon Ball Magic: Return of the Asspull

So the word on Twitter is that there have been leaked reports of a new anime called "Dragon Ball Magic". I'm pretty sure it's all made-up bullshit, but I remember thinking Dragon Ball Super was a pipe dream too, and here we are. So I may as well discuss the topic here.

The whole thing comes across like a modern day Dragon Ball AF, where there seems to be a lot more emphasis on hype and speculation than tangible evidence. For example, there's a twitter account dedicated to gathering all the information available about the new series, but all it really does is amplify rumors and fanworks. When I search for the title on Twitter I mostly get skeptics making fun of the idea, or true believers talking about the show as if it were objective fact. Like AF, there's a lot of excitement but no clear picture of what the the thing actually is. The only real consensus I can find is the following:

Dragon Ball Magic will feature the Supreme Kai

Goku will be turned into a child, just like in Dragon Ball GT

Geekdom101 talked about this once, so that means it must be real.

And that's why I led off with the screenshot of the tail-yanking scene from GT, because I was trying to find an appropriate image of GT Goku and the Supreme Kai, and... yeah, that's it.

The more I think about it, the more this feels like something an internet troll would come up with. Like, someone started with the stupidest moment in the worst Dragon Ball series ever, and built a rumor around it. Oh, and also the rumor namedrops Geekdom101, just to make it extra absurd. It's the sort of thing gullible people would flock to while everyone in on the joke would have a laugh over it.

I don't know enough about Geekdom101 to insult him properly, but I'm like 90% sure he's an asshole. Back when Twitter actually worked properly, I'd see his name trending and there'd be a bunch of people in the fandom going "Dammit, what's he done this time?" Does he have inside sources in the anime industry? I dunno, maybe he does, but I think he's got a credibility problem. I mean, he calls himself "Geekdom101", and his avatar is Golden Frieza with a pair of glasses and holding a lightsaber. His YouTube videos look like a clickbait parody, with things like "Kai-o-ken EXPLAINED" and "WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR". Also plenty of what-if and who-would-win videos.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that maybe this is a guy who makes a decent living off his fandom channel, and when there's not much going on, he'll cobble together a story just to keep the conversation going and draw more attention to his videos. Which... I mean, if that's profitable, so be it, but if Geekdom told me water was wet I'd want to double-check for myself.

As to the rest, even if Toei was really planning something like DB Magic, there's no guarantee they'd actually follow through with it. Plans change, and even if this were 100% legit, it means nothing without an official confirmation and a release date. That "Superman Lives!" movie with Nic Cage was a real thing... right until it wasn't.

But I find the concept too vague and too specific all at once. Like, okay, it's Supreme Kai and a de-aged Goku. Why them in particular? What are they going to do? It just feels like something someone made up to get a reaction from the fans. GT likers are supposed to get all excited or defensive about a potential GT reboot, and other fans are supposed to get upset that the Supreme Kai got the lead instead of their favorite C-lister.

Compare this to the early reveals for DBS: Superhero. Toei teased a few details, and gradually it became clear that the Red Ribbon Army was back somehow, and maybe there were some new androids, and there was a lot about Piccolo and Gohan, so it seemed like they'd be a big part of the story. It wasn't a complete picture, but it made sense from a promotional standpoint. People were more concerned with the CG animation than any of the characters or plot.

I mean, anyone can come up with this stuff. I mean, my uncle works for Nintendo, and he told me that the next anime is going to be called Dragon Ball Snazzy, and it'll be about Vegeta and 18 starting up a private detective agency. Or... I don't know, Dragon Ball Jazz, which is a prequel series featuring a young Dr. Brief and Gine as secret agents. Wait, how about Dragon Ball Spatula, starring Elder Guru and Launch as they explore the multiverse!

And you know, I'd probably watch any of these shows. Hell, I sat through GT, and it was awful! The bar's pretty low when it comes to making a Dragon Ball project that I'm willing to try out. But people have been clamoring for Dragon Ball Super II ever since the first series went off the air in 2018, and that was years ago. This Dragon Ball Magic business just sounds like the same old empty hype with a fresh coat of paint.

Or maybe the whole thing is real, but my advice is: Don't get your hopes up. Life's too short to get worked up over things that might never happen. If it actually comes to pass, then it'll still be just as much fun whether you believed it ahead of time or not.

I can see Spider being taken to the Capitol and tortured like Peeta was in Hunger Games 3, it reminds me of Spider being interrogated by Ardmore.

Hey everybody remember the Hunger Games Au i wrote up back in November? I needed to watch the final movie but then I got bronchitis (that took me two months to recover from) and it was also Christmas at the time and I really didn't feel like watching the child murder movies. But I never forgot about this and I finally got around to watching the final movie! So without further ado let's wrap this up.

To the question of what Spider and Kiri would have shown off in individual training, I feel like Kiri would have purposely tanked her's just for fun not even for strategy. She'd see the whole thing as stupid plus she knows her abilities so she's got nothing to prove. the gamemakers though can see what shes doing and give her a 9 to make her more of a target. I can see Spider pulling a Katniss and shooting an arrow right at the gamemakers to make them pay attention then bowing out. Quaritch is only half pissed at him. The other part is so proud. He's even more proud when Spider is awarded an 11.

In interviews they're both just kinda dicks lol. Spider taunts the whole crowd, talks mad shit on Snow, and heckles the fuck out of Flickerman. Kiri is similar just way more sarcastic and petty. So Snow was definitely super pissed when these two won the game.

Moving on to the ending.

I've tossed around a lot of idea's in my head for who gets captured and I had almost settled on it being Neytiri, Ronal and Paz, but that was mainly because I didn't want to hurt any of the kids especially Spider (I hurt that kid enough in Cabin and all I want is good things for him. I really dont want to hurt the moms either or anybody for that matter but this is a Hunger Games au) And yeah it does match actual Avatar canon to have Spider be one of the ones captured so that's what happens. Neytiri and Aonung are also captured.

The families are all incredibly distraught. Paz has a full on meltdown the moment she wakes up in recovery and is told the terrible news. It's her worst nightmare come to life and she completely blames herself for it. Quaritch, who's already inwardly losing his shit over his son but trying to keep it together, internally breaks seeing his wife like that because he's never seen her break before. After Paz is sedated Quaritch goes off to be alone. Spider's capture cases a real strain on their relationship because neither knows how to comfort or emotionally support the other. Paz is so guilt ridden that she doesn't want to be anywhere near her husband feeling intense shame when ever he looks at her. Quaritch doesn't blame her for Spider's capture. He blames himself for not volunteering in his son's place the day of the reaping. the only thing they can manage to do together is plan on saving their son.

Ronal also blames herself for her son's capture but she buries it deep under a wildfire determination to get him back. Tonowari of course wants Aonung back too and is just as determined, he just advocates that they be calm and level headed about their recuse so that they don't lose anyone else.

Jake hasn't felt this powerless in years. He wants to storm the Capital single handed to get his wife back but no one will let him leave. They all look down on him for being in a wheelchair and forget that he was a victor in the Hunger Games once. That he trained his children to be warriors while being paralyzed. But no matter how much he advocates for himself it just falls on the deaf ears of district 13's president. Who i decided is not Grace but General Ardmore.

Ardmore rules over district 13 in a strict but seemingly fair manner. And she is a pretty good leader. She's just extremely power hunger. I'm going to say Ian Garvin is the Heavensbee of this au. He sees right through Ardmore but he does need her to win the war. It's him that convinces her to let Jake, Ronal, Tonowari, Quaritch and Paz into her war room. Jake impresses her with his war strategies ( Don't worry Jake doesn't come up with Gale's plan. That's all Ardmore) and quickly becomes the lead strategist of her army. Tonowari and Quaritch are on the frontlines. They try to convince Ronal and Paz to stay back but Paz brushes them off with a bitter, "I have nothing left to lose," and Ronal snaps, "i will fight!"

The Capital starts airing interviews with their clearly brainwashed hostages. Paz's shriek silences the entire cafetiere when she sees her son on the t.v. His wild mane of curls now fall neatly around his chin, brushed out of his face like a perfect little gentleman. It shows off how sunken his cheeks have gotten. how hollow and dead his eyes looks. His once tan skin is now pale, made to look even paler by the snow white suite they've dressed him to hide his thin frame. "what would you like to say to your friends and family right now Spider?" "Kiri? Mama? Dad?," Quaritch is trying to hold Paz up as she openly sobs for her child for all of district 13 to see, "please stop. This isn't you. Your good people that would never betray the country. Just stop fighting and come home please."

Aonung get's the exact same treatment dresses up and paraded around on t.v like the Capital's little pet, begging his mom and dad to surrender. Ronal cracked a tooth from clenching her jaw so hard in rage and Tonowari put a hole in the wall when no one was looking.

Neytiri is also brought out, her braids are taken out, hair straightened within an inch of its life. she's dressed in a tasteful white cocktail dress, with a white rose tucked behind her right ear. when she's asked "what would you like to say to your husband right now." She says, "my Jake," there's a long pause, a whole war going on behind her amber eyes before she finally chokes out, "end them." the broadcast instantly cuts off.

And the kids in all this? Since I don't really have a mockingjay singled out among the bunch, I'm gonna say they're all kinda the mockingjay. They're the kids who survived. The ones who have to now live with the horrors inflicted on them by the capital. As I was typing this I actually thought it'd fit Neteyam to make a shrine for one of his competitors like Katniss did for Rue. He bonded with a little girl that was Lo'ak's age at the time but reminded him a lot of Tuk. When she died it was like he could see both of his siblings dying with her and it utterly gutted him. He honored her in front of all of Panem and for it everyone loves him.

Kiri is beloved for her definice. It inspires so many others to stand up and fight.

Lo'ak feels ashamed for what happened to his mother and is very candid about it. He talks openly about how he felt so inadequate compared to his "hero" parents and brother. But he understands now that underneath all the pageantry and splendor of the Capital is a absolutely vile core that needs to be ripped out so that they all can finally know peace.

Tsireya is a medic in this like Prim was. Her and Lo'ak start up a romance because they trauma bond over a family member being held hostage.

Tuk is there but she's just too little to really do anything.

And finally Grace in all this plays a similar roll as the mayor from district 8. She just had this lightbulb moment after having Kiri that her daughter would never know peace as long as there tyrannical government stayed in power. She wanted to take Kiri with her but she got word that a sickness was spreading through 13 that was killing all the children. Kiri and her have a lot to work through but Kiri doesn't get angry with Grace for wanting to fight for a better world. Kiri still grew up healthy and happy with her adopted family and soon all of them would be able to live freely and safely in the world they'll create.

Finally the opportunity arrives to save the hostages. Norm is able to hack the system giving a volunteer strike team an opening. the team is made up of Quaritch, Paz, Ronal, Tonowari and Neteyam. It goes off without a hitch. I want to say that unlike in the movie/book where Snow actually just let them go that in this au the strike team was actually just that good and got in and out without anyone noticing. The families all hold each other all the way home the only sounds coming from their cries of relief.

Also none of them are brainwashed to try and kill a loved one. They are severely traumatized though. Their tortures goes as follows and you can skip to the next paragraph if you’d rather not read this. Spider was made to see horrific fantasies under trackerjacker venom to the point where it’s hard for him to tell what’s real anymore. He’s jittery and anxious all the time and panics easily. He flinches if someone raises a hand too fast and that includes his own parents who are both devastated for their son and enraged that the capital would hurt their boy so badly he couldn’t even trust his own mom and dad anymore. Kiri helps Spider through it playing “real or not real,” something she tells Quaritch and Paz about to better manage Spiders dissociative episodes when she’s not around. Aonung was given electric shocks in water now making him fear it. Even seeing a few drops of water is enough to make him shake. This hurts his whole family to see since the ocean is the core of there cultural identity. Ronal and Tonowari want to burn the entire capital down to nothing for the crime against humanity they’ve inflicted on their son. It takes so much time but his parents and sister start with coaching Aonung through the breathing mediation he’d do as a small child when he was first learning to swim putting his mind at ease by reciting the way of water with him. Once he doesn’t freak out seeing so much as a cup of water they slowly get him to interact with it again first with a very shallow bath (basically a puddle) building until his family is lovingly coaxing him into a pool. He panics at first but swimming is like breathing to him and surrounded by so much love and support he eventually calms. Neytiri was given a drug that made the simplest touch feel like excruciating pain. She knows it was just the chemicals they pumped into her veins but she can’t help but flinch every time one of her children hugs her, her breath catching in her throat. She puts on a brave face and holds her children despite how much it makes her heart race. The only one she talks about this with is Jake. They do their own form of real or not real where he’ll brush his fingertips over her arm so so gently he’s almost not touching her at all and ask, “pain or no pain,” until Neytiri can retrain her mind to not associate every minor touch with pain.

After they take time to recover it’s decided that a strike team will be sent out to assassinat Snow. There’s no way in hell any of the parents will let there kids go on this mission so it’s all the adults. Maybe it's just because I love all these characters and don’t want to kill them off but I’m going to say they’re all so good that they outmaneuver every capital trap and survive Ardmore’s bombing of civilians but if I was going to kill people off here's how I’d do it…

Tonowari meets the same fate as Boggs killed in a trap.

Quaritch is overwhelmed by mutts like Finnick was. Paz shoots him herself to put him out of his misery

Neteyam is killed in the second wave of bombings. He snuck out of 13 with the medics because he wanted to give aid to the civilians hurt in the war.

I also had the very evil idea of Neteyam getting sent to the group like Peeta was for some reason, and him being injured in the same trap that killed Tonowari and Neytiri staying with him while the rest move on only for them both to die when the building their hiding in is bombed and then Tsireya dies trying to give medical aid to civilians but good god is that devastating for me to think about.

But it’s a good thing none of that happens! So Ardmore gathers all the past hunger games victors to discuss Snow’s public execution and to float the idea of a hunger games with the capitals children. They are all equally horrified because they’ve all been through so much and just want peace. The kids all speak out but the parents stay quiet all silently thinking the same thing. This bitch has got to go.

All the victors are lined up with bows and arrows to execute Snow in front of the whole country. Only half of the arrows pierce him though. They other half sail right into Ardmore’s chest. Grace is later elected president. Kiri is constantly going from the Sully’s place to Grace’s to Spider’s. Spider and his parents live in a cottage in a peaceful meadow where he continues his recover. His mom is kind of smothering now still recovering from the trauma of losing her son but he knows it’s all love. When he’s in a better place he decides to travel and see the new world. Ronal and Tonowari are surprised to learn they’re expecting but it’s a happy surprise. They can’t wait to bring their third into a peaceful world. Tsireya continues her medical training and Aonung becomes a sailor. He just feels at peace out on the ocean. Jake is basically Graces Vice President and Neytiri is basically the secretary of infrastructure working to rebuild every district. Neteyam, Lo’ak, and Kiri are the leads on construction on a memorial for all the children slaughtered in the games. Everyone is their on opening day. It’s seeing the memorial that really brings peace to all of them. It’s not only a testament to those killed, but a marker that all the horror is now over.

A funny "Flowers didn't Die" concept-

(and seriously, I think he just kept faking his death and then peacing-out to go do whatever, but for the purposes of this, he just stayed in Blood Gulch the whole time)

-Still keeps being way too cheerful with no concept of personal space and is also incredibly intimidating. Church thinks the guy is like, in weird serial-killer-love with him, and expects Flowers will invite him for dinner someday, and if he went, he'd wake up in a room from a Saw movie

-Tucker also finds him mildly creepy, but enjoys getting compliments all the time, and Flowers is at least pretty organized, so him as a leader is fine (also, Flowers targets most of his weirder attention on the unknowing Alpha, so Tucker's like "Hey dude, Flowers isn't so bad", to which Church responds "He watches me SLEEP, man! And he keeps asking if I feel human today, whatever the hell THAT means!")

-Tucker does pitch a fit when Caboose arrives, because now they are BOTH "rookie blue". Flowers decides to compromise and trades Tucker his fancy aqua armor, and Flowers gets a new set for himself (still blue, but now it has different highlights, etc). Tucker feels like he's the favorite because he gets the cool armor, and Church thinks he's the favorite but in a BAD way

-Caboose is actually more welcomed by Church this time. He needs SOMEBODY to be a Flowers-buffer, and boy oh boy, does Caboose rise to the occasion!

-Church doesn't have to act like the leader anymore, but Flowers encourages him to "show initiative", and this usually means being the one to go yell at the Reds. Church is good at yelling (also, Flowers knows how to sort of "trick" Church into accidentally coming up with good plans. like, he works backwards by presenting a stupid idea, letting Church pick it apart, and then Church comes up with an oddly good strategy. y'know, like somebody who could create highly advanced scenarios and predicting outcomes)

-Sarge gets fixated on Flowers, because the guy never gets directly involved with any of the fighting, so this turns into a Captain Ahab and the White Whale situation (but the whale is actually Blue). Sarge also hates him because it is impossible to have an argument with Flowers; he turns every insult into a compliment. It's actually kind of a perfect rivalry

-Simmons wants to personally murder Flowers, because he heard Simmons say something to Sarge about having a father-son relationship, and offered to let Simmons call him "daddy". Simmons isn't sure if that was just a miscommunication, spiteful mockery, or a freaky flirtation, but HE DID NOT LIKE IT. Grif doesn't even say anything about it specifically, but every time they see Flowers, he just loudly chuckles in mean-spirited glee

-Grif didn't really care about Flowers at all one way or the other... until the guy made references about knowing Grif's family and stuff that isn't even in his files. So yeah, he agrees with Church, Flowers is CREEPY

-Donut totally didn't get that this guy was the actual Blue Team leader at first, and he kept going back to the "store" to buy "supplies". Flowers just... gives him things. When they finally realize what's been going on, the Reds are confused about why Flowers didn't just kill Donut, and the Blues are ticked that Flowers gave the Reds their cereal. Eventually, Flowers and Donut have more conversations together, and nobody likes how it SOUNDS

-When Tex arrives, she genuinely doesn't recognize him. Agent Florida didn't speak to her much, and his armor looked different. She's kind of annoyed with him though. Stop flirting with her boyfriend! Or ex-boyfriend! Or whatever Church is!

-Church "dies", and Flowers is a little freaked-out by the fact that the Alpha AI didn't instantly present itself as a holographic avatar. Did it just... stop existing? How bad did her screw this up??? Oh, never mind, Church is a "ghost". He keeps offering to "share his body" with Church (knowing perfectly well how it works to have an AI hang out in your head), WHO DOES NOT CARE FOR THAT WORDING, NOPE

-Omega gets loose, and this sucks for Flowers. When the AI is with Caboose, there is a combination of two sources of anger in there, and now Flowers has to listen to VERY specific and ominous threats for a change. He's getting bullied

-Flowers finally gets known as a Freelancer when Wyoming shows up, and he's kind of mad about it. He had a WHOLE THING GOING, he was COMMITTED TO THE ROLE, and now it is RUINED. Also, Tex is embarrassed she didn't figure it out

-After the whole "getting exploded to the future" thing happens and they return to Blood Gulch, everybody decides to ignore Flowers. Like, they literally play the "Did you hear that? Must have been the wind" game when he talks. He hates this! He needs ATTENTION! Simmons runs away to be a Blue, and Flowers wanders off to sulk (so, the stuff with the cave, and him getting Omega for a bit still happens. now, instead of him randomly getting shot and killed, he winds up knocked-out, and later fakes like he has temporary memory loss for everything that has happened recently. he's still officially "reported" as being KIA)

-Kai shows up, and she won't stop arguing with him. Flowers doesn't get snippy very often, but Kai contradicts everything he says, and he gets harmlessly frustrated

-After the big finale of Blood Gulch, Flowers INSISTS on being the who relocates Church. When Wash shows up looking for them, Flowers expects Wash won't recognize him just like Tex, but Wash DOES, and the bit is once again ruined

Thomas Astruc Seriously? Where to begin? The fact that Thomas Astruc, the creator of Miraculous Ladybug, is mainly responsible for ruining Chloe’s character and the entire show story with his bad writing and influence since episode Miracle Queen, Season 4, and Season 5, if not always been from the very beginning for some longtime fans. When I heard about “Adrien is a Sentimonster” theory even I was still new to the show, I promised myself a long time ago that I will never forgive him if were true. I won’t forgive him. I don’t know if I should say this but given what he have done to Miraculous… I hate him.

Why draw him you ask? How do I put this?

To put this simply. I need to vent out my frustration through art like I did on All-Americus/All-Ameriquilicus way back. And I want to show everyone who can see this the villain he is; least how I picture him. I mean, look at his face, at those eyes, filled with so much anger, hate, and even arrogance, able to get away with what he have done and do however he like without regards for others as if he’s the Miraculous God.

But as much I hate him, I can still give him the decency to make him a cool-looking badass character as I can.

And just to let you know, this is my AU version of the show’s Astruc, his ‘avatar’ and not the actual Astruc in Real-Life despite the similarities. Thomas Almighty

Basically, Thomas Astruc turned into God, or what he supposed to be.

I’ll admit, I was kind of lazy with his design, his clothes are still the same just turned white. But then again, I’m sure that how he prefer to dress even as “God”.

So basically, he is the Miraculous version of Chuck/God from Supernatural; write his story how sees fit not how bad or the hurt on other people.

I also admit my selection of his exact powers are half-baked. I mean, in terms of reality-warping, what can and can’t do? He is not really a god, he’s a man pretending to be a god, thanks to Hawkmoth. In fact, that’s the overall theme, he is powerful to almost godlike but he is still a man, an irrational man that is.

And his name, I just add “Almighty” like from the movies Evan Almighty or Bruce Almighty.Name: Thomas Almighty

Akumatized Object: Unknown

Cause of Akumatized? Unknown, possibly his hatred for Chloe and for Jeremy Zag and his studio cutting him off or we different direction from his plan

So while I was at work today I finally figured out how to transition from the setup phase of the Haltmann Meme Guardians AU to the second, more action-packed and properly story focused half of the arc.

Basically, Lag notices that there's some extra, unaccounted-for activity with the SMG commands, and when he asks the System why it didn't report this latest case of the False Positive glitch it insists that it isn't the glitch this time, just the new kids seeing what they can do. Now, that immediately sets off alarm bells in his head, since there isn't a new SMG universe, or even a plan to activate one anytime soon, and considering exactly which universe Lag used to be in charge of he's really not liking where this seems to be going.

He informs the rest of the main Admin group, they investigate, hoping beyond hope that it's not happening in the universe they all know it's going to be, and YEP, there's the newly rebuilt Access Arc sitting right on the edge of the SM64 universe's Solar System, practically marinating in Anti-Meme energy.

Unfortunately, as beings of pure code they can't go down and deal with this themselves. Well, technically they could, but that much Anti-Meme energy in that high a concentration would tear all but the strongest of them to shreds, and even those who could survive that would both be weakened enough to be completely at the mercy of whoever or whatever is in that station, and would need a month-long intensive detox treatment if they managed to get back out alive.

Meanwhile, all the mad scientists in the Mushroom Kingdom have disappeared, which includes Iggy Koopa and Eggman so BJ and Sage are freaking out, and given how the science fair all the way back at the start of the arc went down, not to mention the few times HWC has caused problems for them lately, the Crew does have one suspect in mind. So when the USBs tell them about the extra guardian/Anti-Meme space station thing, there's no doubt in their minds that the two situations are connected. And while the Admins can't directly investigate for the reasons stated above, and the Crew can't either since none of them are any good at subtlety, Mario, 4, Meggy and Saiko happen to know a certain semi-aquatic secret agent who can. And considering who one of the names on the list of missing scientists is, he's probably investigating already and would appreciate the lead.

So Perry infiltrates the new Access Arc while in contact with the Crew, and while he doesn't find everything he does find out some pretty important stuff. Obviously Susie's plan and the fact that her replacement Avatar/Guardian set are in fact children, and the fact that she's been very very exposed to the God Box fragment she ended up with and is absolutely not in her right mind (according to SMG1 it's a miracle that she hasn't turned into an Anti-Meme herself by now, let alone that she's as coherent as she is). But also the presence of Movie Mario, A.S.Swipe and the Salmonids, The Goomba, and a bunch of weird, fully purple Octoling Troopers with rough tentacles that Meggy finds oddly familiar.

There's also the fact that she kidnapped the mad scientists so she could give them front-row seats of her plan in action, partly to make up for how badly her last presentation in front of her peers went but mostly to rub it in E. Gadd's face.

Unfortunately for everyone, she's still missing one last thing to make the plan work; Elanore may be an Avatar, but she's not Super Mario 64's Avatar, and since neither the God Box nor The Goomba know how to fix that, she'll just have to reverse-engineer Mario's code and figure it out herself. To that end, she sends Yoshi to capture him, which manages to work.

With that new problem on top of all the other ones, it's actually Peach who comes up with a plan. Basically, if Haltmann wants a war, they've got one, but it'll be on the good guys' terms. The assorted militaries and superpowered beings of the world all band together, setting up to protect various key places around the globe, mainly the Mushroom Kingdom since that's where all the SMGs live but also various places that either have strategic value or one of the Crew and their extended friend group has some sort of connection to. After those preparations are complete, an armada of all sorts of weaponized space-faring vehicles will launch an assault on the Access Arc, both to force them into conflict before they're ready and provide a distraction for the Crew(plus Kirby since he's taken down an Access Arc before and is reasonably confident he can get through to his currently corrupted friend) to sneak aboard, extract Perry, and rescue Mario and the scientists(and whoever of the bad guys they can manage to get through to).

Melony specifically isn't part of the rescue team since she, Desmond, Steve, Super Sonic, Waluigi in his ultimate form and Ultra Instinct Shaggy, along with a few others, are going to be outside fighting Movie Mario so they don't have to deal with a crazy demon plumber tearing their entire armada apart or getting impatient and killing their Mario before it's safe to.

The kids also aren't going to be in any of the main battles, instead being kept safe in Primp Town...except Sage because she's Literally The Eggnet and the leader of the Eggman Empire in her dad's absence, and is thus in direct control of about a fifth of their side's collective firepower. Don't worry, just because they're not involved in the main conflicts doesn't mean they won't see some action of their own.

Firepaw and Greypaw sleeping together.

I did this fanart piece of Firepaw and Greypaw becoming friends and sleeping together in the apprentice’s den after Firepaw was free from his Kittypet collar and was accepted to train as a new warrior’s apprentice before being called Rusty but after he was accepted into Thunderclan he was given the name Firepaw by the clan leader Bluestar to train as a new apprentice in Thunderclan.

Firepaw and Greystrip become close friends and they sleep together in the apprentice’s den making Firepaw think “Thunderclan is my home now”.

I’ve been rereading my first Warriors Cats book in the series called “Into the Wild” because I know that’s still a well-loved series written by the Erin Hunters which they also written book series like “Seekers Bears”, “Survivors Dogs”, “Bravelands” and “Bamboo Kingdom” which I read most of the “Survivors Dogs” books and just read the first “Bamboo Kingdom” book in the book series but I plan on rereading the “Survivors Dogs” series and the first “Bamboo Kingdom” book that I own and someday getting more books that follow up in the “Bamboo Kingdom” series as well.

Although I also plan on going reading the “Bravelands” series which is a series of books about African animals and maybe also the “Seekers Bears” series as well.

I think the various of book series that the Erin Hunters have written starting with “Warrior Cats” are real good books to read that it’s a hard book to put down because of the story telling that goes into all the book series that the Erin Hunters written to this day.

I’m inspired by the storytelling of the different animals surviving in the wild and trying to find food and all that jazz, it makes me want to write my own stories inspired a bit after the Erin Hunter book series and I’m also inspired by the “Cartoon Saloon” movie “Wolfwalkers” and the movie “Avatar” not the one with the Airbender but the one with these blue people known as the Navis that fight to save their home from the Sky People which I saw the first Navi Avatar movie but haven’t gotten to the second one yet and I plan on watching some Natural Geographic, Disney Nature and Discovery+ documentaries about animals out in their natural habitat because I love learning about our world especially our natural world around Mother Nature itself.

Reading the Erin Hunter books and watching documentaries on tv really helps me to respect nature more even so going to my local zoo as well and it inspires me to want to make animatics, comics, artworks and literature stories around animals living, growing, eating and surviving out in the wild instead of just focusing on stories that take my main oc Adean the purple dragon’s point of view although I might build on to the comic series of “Adean the Dream Guardian” where she is actually a Chinese zodiac dragon guardian while her sister Kristy is the Chinese zodiac tiger guardian because really I was born in “the year of the dragon” while my sister was born in “the year of the tiger” would fit great for storytelling behind my two characters Adean and Kristy who are sisters with my webcomic series “Adean the Dream Guardian” be a story about the two sisters and one being a shapeshifting dragon girl and the other one being a shapeshifting tiger girl.

Speaking of sisters I’m actually going to the zoo this morning with my sis today and we’re going to see the animals this time especially the new red pandas that are at our zoo now.

I hope to take a lot of pictures of the animals at my local zoo and use them for reference for creating my own animal characters or animal artwork but it’s gonna be a fun day for my sister and I later this morning.

little update for you guys:

so i’ve had literally no time for shifting recently 💀 I haven’t even attempted in a month or so.

and i know everyone’s like “make time!” or “shifting is easy just do ___!” girl i’m telling you i’m up at 6 in the morning and my day isn’t over until 11, then i need to go to sleep and do it all again the next day. having responsibilities sucks ass.

BUT- in the meantime, I’ve been exploring potential DRs and making pinterest boards and cute little spotify playlists and basically it’s the main way i’m attached to shifting right now. My living situation has changed (positive) but that’s a whole other mess and basically Ophelia has NO time ❌

So updates might be slow until i move into my dorm in August, but anyway here’s a new list of some of my drs in case anyone is looking for a new place to shift:

So, I have my Hogwarts DR right? But honestly, it’s not really my main focus at the moment. i’m really just trying to get to my waiting room before i decide where the hell i’m going. this dr is cute and adorable and feels very homey to me. i’ve actually considered permashifting there tbh. it’s the world i’ve scripted the most for and what ignited my shifting journey.

Then, I have a Fame dr. kind of obligatory at first but the more i was getting into it, the more shit i’ve added and i actually love it now. it’s a mid-2010s and onward fame dr, so it’s like 2015 where i’m shifting. i’ve scripted to start out on broadway (OBC for katherine pulitzer in newsies), eventually working my way to the acting industry and then the music industry. i’ve got at least three albums planned and I even have an idea for a directorial debut limited series. I’ve also scripted myself into movies and shows that don’t exist in my cr so i’m excited to see how that goes!

I have some ideas for a marvel/Avengers dr. I’m a Greek demi-goddess with questionable parentage, but I insert myself into Tony’s life right around the first Iron Man. With weird time mechanics and whatever I just want to be besties with peter parker and train with strange and bucky tbh. extended found family is what i live for

I’m working on an Avatar: The Last Airbender dr lmao. i wanna be a fire bender so bad it’s unreal. I’m also adding separate countries under the same nation. like yes, there’s the earth kingdom and fire kingdom, but they have separate designations sort of like the southern and northern water tribes.

I’m thinking of a pjo/camp-half-blood dr because that would be cool as hell. going on quests with the gang and having powers?? i’d probably script some stuff in or out but the idea is really cool to me and i was always a percy jackson kid

lost in space dr !!! if you don’t know what i’m talking about there’s an original series from years ago or there’s a netflix reboot but basically this is a found family dr that takes place in space/alien planets and there’s a robot. maureen and john robinson are so mother and father coded it’s unreal.

hawkins, indiana dr but not “really” a stranger things dr because i don’t want to traumatize these kids or be traumatized myself lmao i’m basically just living in hawkins but all the friend groups are the same. also i’m dustin’s older sister because he’s adorable.

youtuber dr where i’m in weird/conspiracy core youtube and make those sorts of videos. i wanna make content with some of my more niche weird faves like wendigoon, nexpo, etc. this is really niche for a dr but i think it’s gonna be fun as hell.

bridgerton dr, y’all fr need to get in on this. new pretty dresses every day, men competing for my hand in marriage, elitist politics, orchestral music, flowers everywhere- it’s just going to be a good time i know it.

The 100 but specifically seasons 1-2 (MAYBE 3). Less death and more fun but with some scripting i think the idea of a society run by delinquent teenagers from space who are also fighting barbaric remnants of a destroyed civilization sounds cool as HELL bro. But i finished the show and the plot after the time jump isn’t what I want so i’m gonna script the hell out of the actual plot to make it fit what i want.

Trap House dr ! (another youtuber dr, shockingly) with the trap house circa the late 2010s. ghost hunting with sam and colby, talking shit with jake and corey, doing stupid shit and partying and just having a good time bro. i’m also scripting out Elton 🙈

narnia dr but specifically from LWW through the golden era of narnia. ruling over a mythological land with the pevensies, exploring the lands as far as they go, learning the lore with the other places in the world narnia exists in (where the telmarines come from and the other nations), i just think it’d be cool as hell.

and i want to figure out how to make like a zombie (potentially TWD or TLOU) dr without it being traumatizing 😭😭 stay tuned for how that works out lmaooo

Currently watching: For the past couple of weeks, I've been watching Avatar: The Last Airbender over and over, both the animated and live-action versions. I'm also revisiting Legend of Korra, which I never thought I'd do again??!

Spicy/savory/sweet: instant reaction is always sweet, but in reality, sweet is only good to me for a few minutes, then I have to taste something else to get rid of the aftertaste XD so I'll go with spicy! I'm notorious for adding an unnecessary amount of spices and hot sauces to everything

Relationship status: single, and I'm cool with it. Relationships sound good in theory, and I've had gfs in the past that were good relationships for who we were at that point in time, but I'm okay if I don't experience that again, or if I do but it's a long time from now. I'm at a point where I really enjoy my independence, and on top of that, I'm so low-maintenace, I don't know if anyone would want a relationship as casual as what I'd be looking for. So I'm just doing my thing, and if someone ends up being a good fit for me, nice, if not, then that's nice too!

Current obsession: Avatar <333 this series was so dear to me ten to twelve years ago, and I honestly hadn't watched it since Legend of Korra ended. I never thought I would become obsessed with it again. I always assumed that if I ever decided to rewatch it, it would be more like "aw that was nice to see again! now I'm going to go about the rest of my day normally" but when the live-action dropped, my family watched it, and they told me that they really enjoyed it, so I watched it with them a few days later, and holy crap, it was so much fun. It sent me straight back into obsession without warning. I'm making my way back through both of the animated series and rewatching comfort episodes over and over, I've reread all the comics (except Imbalance which I don't have, but I'm going to the bookstore after the small con tomorrow. also then there's the big con this summer where I'm planning to meet Dante Basco and Ian Ousley, and that's gonna be FUN!!!!) My heart is so full and so happy, and I feel really peaceful from being back in touch with something that meant so much to younger me. Also of note, Avatar/LOK is how I bonded with one of my best friends in school, and we're meeting up in a month or two for the first time in a decade, and it's cute how that aligned. We've actually been messaging each other our thoughts about the new series! There have been so many little things in my life lately that have been connecting me with my younger selves and reminding me that I'm still me after all these years.

So I wanted to talk about how some of my "fictional father" rules and ideas work.

First up: What characters from what fandoms would make good fathers? (Sorry it's a long list. Also, if you're wondering why certain antagonists' were listed, there's more explanation further down).

Fandom: Naruto. Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Gaara, Yamato, Gai, Neji, Shikamaru, Iruka, Jiraiya, Itachi, Obito, Orochimaru, and Zabuza.

Fandom: One Piece. Characters: All of the Mugiwara crew, Trafalgar, Kid, Ace, Sabo, Crocodile, Doflamingo, Lucci, Smoker, Katakuri, the Akazaya Nine, Shanks, Buggy, Marco, and Rayleigh. (I could honestly write almost every character on here as a parent figure, but the list would be way too long).

Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen. Characters: Lol, all of them.

Fandom: Attack on Titan. Characters: Eren, Armin, Levi, Jean, Reiner, Levi and Erwin.

Fandom: Black Clover. Characters: Umm... All of them? This fandom is beyond rich with potential parent figures, don't even get me started.

Why are certain antagonists listed?

Well that's because I'm obsessed with bad guys and I love imagining them in scenarios where they are actually good. Antagonists in general are very powerful, crazy and frightening, but if you keep those attributes and turn them into good people with good intentions, they make for some pretty awesome, likable parent figures.

So if I ever write an antagonist as a parent figure, just know that I'm intentionally making them good for the benefit of the reader-inserts and the drabbles. But, hey, if you wanna read and imagine them the way they originally are, then by all means I support you.

I obviously have father figures covered, but what about mother figures?

There are lots of female characters I love, but I primarily want to focus on the males just because that is my preference. However, on down the road I do see myself writing mother drabbles. I wouldn't mind. And, considering the circumstances of the reader-inserts, a mother figure might be more suited for the plot. You never know.

What will the reader-inserts be like?

For reader-inserts under the age of twelve, I will display it in the title as "child!reader".

For reader-inserts over the age of twelve, I will display it in the title as "teen!reader".

For child reader plots, I plan for them to be mostly fluffy and light-hearted. You know, young kids are curious, they're inexperienced, they're clumsy, they get scared, they get bullied, and so on and so forth. There's lots of topics and plots I can create for child reader-inserts.

For teen reader plots, things might get a little bit more angsty. As we all know, teenage years are absolutely insane. Teenagers are rebellious, they're curious, they're discovering their own sexuality, they're going through puberty, and they're trying new, dangerous and some times risky things. Teenagers are also very, VERY emotional, and under certain circumstances they can really struggle with anxiety, depression, social stability, loneliness and a whole bunch of other stuff. Of course there will be fluff in these drabbles, but also some light angst here and there.

For the most part the reader will be portrayed as the biological child of the character, but I do plan on writing lots of adoption stuff too.

The father figures won't always be perfect.

As we all probably know, parents are anything but perfect. They make mistakes. Lots and lots of mistakes. And sometimes parents don't care that they make mistakes, nor do they ever try to right their wrongs and apologize. Some parents don't even want to accept nor understand their child. (I'm sure some of you know what I mean).

But whereas these fictional father figures may make mistakes, they also try to fix those mistakes and right their wrongs. That's what I plan to accomplish with my father drabbles. I want to create loving, supportive, understanding father figures who are willing to do anything for their child. Because when you're a kid and you struggle with life, a loving parent is all you really want.

What about characters who are too young to have kids?

So an example for this would be any character that is around the age of 15-25 like Luffy. Well there are two simple solutions to this. Either I'll age up the characters or I'll say that the reader is adopted. It kind of just depends on what the drabble calls for.

Why am I doing this?

Well if you're like me and you had a rough childhood, then you just kind of want to reimagine yourself in a scenario where you're happy, accepted, catered, loved, protected, safe and cared for. I just want this to be something akin to a safe place for people to come and find joy and peace in the drabbles that I create.

Mild disclaimer: I know I have a lot of characters in mind to write for, but the process of my updates may be slow-going sometimes because I do have a full time job and annoying adult responsibilities. I try to write whenever I can. If updates seem slow, just know that I'm sorry and that I'm trying my hardest to supply you with all the fictional father goodness you crave.

Chance and Choice BTS

Behind the scenes stuff! I have A LOT of notes about the making of Chance and Choice from unreleased Beta to the latest chapter! Please enjoy the notes that simply cannot keep to myself anymore.

Pre CC (Runner-up):

Originally originally, the very first almost beta version of CC was just going to be Jack's origin story lol. Like straight up in chronological order, a series of events spanning his entire life as a closer look into his fall from grace. Really heavy handed on the psychology aspects of how his mind works (because I love nothing more than psychoanalyzing people/characters)

I had a whole idea about if i ever dropped this fic that the accompanying art would just be Jack himself promoting the story as if it was his own autobiography. Celebrity biopic release vibes. Buy my book!

This rough beta version was called Runner-up. And I got all the outlining done when I realized that by the end of the story Jack still would’ve been a villain (and in banishment) and I ended up thinking that the aftermath of his banishment with Lucy would've been a more attention-grabbing story.

As much as I enjoy hurting this man, I also want to see him heal, so Runner-up was promptly scrapped (but somewhat currently still used as a rough guide for any of Jack’s inner machinations/past experiences)

In the tail end of planning Runner-up, when Killian was starting to come more into his own and not just a background character, apparently, I wrote it down that him and Jack were only supposed to have romantic tension and for their official relationship to start way later after he’s already reformed.

I think the idea was to have them just hate flirting with each-other while the whole story goes on around them? But you can also do that AND be bitter exes at the same time. Very glad I changed this little bit.

A concept that also did not survive the Runner-up days was the idea of Jack having some kind of Ice based healing powers! Most akin to the water bender healers from Avatar.

He would've had this whole thing about swearing off using the healing powers for whatever reason and ends up burying the lead that he ever had them in the first place. Until a situation comes up where he’s forced to use them in front of people, unearthing the secret. This idea was cool, but then I reworked the whole magic system so this idea had to go.

Chapter 4:

Fun Fact! This meeting where Jack and Mother Nature actually talk for the first time since banishment will be the last time they directly speak to one another until the very finale. They will be going another two weeks without talking before reconciling at New Years.

I've had the idea for the Bypass for a while, but the way it looks is closest to The Great Exhibition hall of 1851. Just way bigger and with portal arches and FIVE MORE FLOORS. This place is HUGE you guys it's like a whole town in of itself.

I wanted the teleporters to accommodate a full-sized dragon because as a species they would be very limited in available airspace without getting spotted by humans. So, to quick travel they mostly use the teleporters.

I am going to be very honest with you guys. I really did only give Jack a journal of sorts so that I could maybe spin that off into The Misadventures of Exile kinda thing. Because nothing really physically happens to him (besides the polar bear) but he goes through a lot of mental wear and tear, and I thought I should give myself a little window into his head for possible future use.

Chapter 5:

The flashback scene with MN and Jacks fight, these exchanges:

“When all the realms turned against me, what did you do? Nothing!”

“You were not meant to have a holiday that is not my fault!”

“Not your FAULT!?”

Is directly taken from Kung Fu Panda, the first movie where shifu and tai lung recount their falling out as they fight. Tai Lung (and his and shifu’s dynamic) is so interestingly complex and served as a HUGE inspiration for Jack’s character and his relationship with MN.

ANOTHER line that I kinda ripped off was this remark from Jack:

“How could you possibly bring me lower than this? What more can you take away from me?!”

That one I got from The Incredibles when Bob threatens Mirage when he thinks his family is dead :)

A line that I also really REALLY wanted to include but didn't was from Steven Universe. Where Amethyst and Pearl are fighting in the kindergarten and amethyst says:

“I never asked for it to be this way! I never asked to be made!”

I wanted to give that line to Jack as he was fighting MN SO BAD! But I just couldn't find anywhere to fit it.

Originally Jack’s visceral injury would have been a single very sharp root straight through the shoulder. Literally clean through him; just one major puncture wound. But I ultimately thought that was lacking something, so i ended up changing it to something way more violent.

That whole fight scene I’ve had in the chamber for A WHILE, before most of the plot of CC was ironed out. And like I’ve said before, legendary fisticuffs are COOL AS SHIT so I have a lot to say about that passage in particular.

Chapter 6:

I had three separate ideas for Jack’s beginning nightmare sequence for this chapter (mostly because i’ve really liked coming up with very metaphorical and emotionally poignant scenarios for Jack to be in (psychoanalyzing yet again) ).

The final one of the following voices was my personal favorite and was planned to be put somewhere far later in the story, but i ultimately decided to treat myself and write in prose about Jack’s internal struggle :)

The other two nightmares I think I will keep mostly a secret if I ever choose to use those for future sequences. But! The other two (in the vaguest of terms) are

Mother Nature Lapis Lazuli inspo

Playing very weird chess and loosing horribly.

The main note that I’ve had for this, and the next few following chapters is just: EMOTIONAL LABOR! And that’s literally it lol. Thats the only note I need for this next stretch of the story lol.

Fun Fact! The weight of Lucy’s staff is actually different depending on the personal harmony of the one who’s holding it! It always maintains a level of heaviness that Lucy doesn't experience, but depending on someone’s inner balance the staff will be lighter or heavier depending on who’s holding it. Charlie has little difficulty holding for its weight in Chapter 5, because he has little to no internal struggle. He’s very confident in who he is and where he’s going in life and all that jazz.

Whereas Jack in this Chapter, is nearly taken down by the thing because he is all kinds of out of whack internally. Banishment has been nothing but one big internal seven-year struggle and it shows in the weight of the staff. He’s way-out synch and therefore the staff is way heavier than it should be.

Chapter 7:

I had to rewrite the beginnings of this chapter a fair few times with how exactly Lucy finds out more about Frostmas as a thing.

One of the times she would've found herself in the hall of timelines to learn about Frostmas that way. It was a huge room of clouds and different clock faces representing all the major alternate universes. I had a whole convoluted way the books updated themselves by pulling straight from the clocks to double check the series of events that have technically never happened.

But this was WAY too complicated of an idea to execute without having it feel overly clunky. So, it must be scrapped.

AND I KNEW that THIS was the most opportune time to name drop everyone else’s amazing work! As mostly a treat to myself, but I had it penned down to AT LEAST mention CS here. Because I was dying to do that at some point and NOWS THE TIME! THERE YA GO BITCHES! Technically canon? But actually, not really.

Killian and Chimera’s intro was A BITCH AND A HALF to nail down. I went back and forth on the logistics of this scene a lot. Where it was gonna fit in the story and if I'm introducing this new character/element too early or too late. This one was a thinker.

BUT THEN I remembered that there's an actually seven-year-old at the north pole that he could scare! Keep it closer to the main cast and switch it to full nighttime hours at the end of the day and BOOM! He’s here! In the story! Jack and Luce are gonna run into him later for the confrontation OF A LIFETIME. Very hype about that

For Killian’s intro I had an idea for Chimera to call him on the crystal ball, but he accidently left the sound on so it flashes colors AND Toxic by Brittney Spears would start playing very loudly in the middle of the night. This was really funny to me, but ultimately undermined the whole buildup of him being scary and threatening so I had to scrap it.

Misc:

Whenever I get to the redlining stage in the editing process, I try and do it physically as often as I can. I literally print out all the pages, staple them together, get a red pen and go to town! Usually with a lined sticky note as well for when a passage really needs to be deconstructed. I do this because it gives my eyes a break from staring at a screen and helps me spot mistakes easier. I keep them all in a little accordion folder and save them as sweet little mementos :)

(I don't do this for any of the snowdrifts because those are relatively low stakes, but I did do it for Solstice just because it directly ties into CC in a somewhat more important way.)

A couple of key inspo’s for Jacks character in exile (as I imagine him anyway) were Tai Lung (as previously stated), Loki and a touch of Bojack Horseman. I rationalize any out of character things he does with “Oh but he’s in exile, he’s been banished for seven years now, I think he’s bound to act just a little different.”

Too Good to be True

Dedicated to awkward potato anon, who left that initial ask that inspired this. I think I made it angstier if that helps any.

Also I haven’t really posted about it but Zulima and Aurelius are the president and vice-president of the Azalea Protection Squad. The three of them are all so close in age that they’re just ride or die for each other no matter the circumstance and I hope y’all really see that in this fic.

Summary: Azalea excitedly asks her father to come with her to see the newest Harrison Porter film in the reboot franchise on the day it premieres but when day arrives, he doesn’t show. How can Mammon make things better?

“Daaaaad! Dad! Dad!” Azalea nearly busts down the front door in her excitement, skateboard left lying in the entrance way as she kicks off her shoes. “TheyjustannouncedadateforthenewHarrisonPortermovie!!anditsnextweek!Wegottagoseeit!

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, kiddo.” Mammon, who’s in the kitchen making lunch for his youngest, can’t understand a word she’s saying as Azalea jumps around in excitement. “Slow down. Take a couple minutes ‘n start from the top.”

And she does, letting out a large exhale. She’s out of breath as she fumbles with her phone to pull up the announcement post on Devilgram. Once she’s ready she shows him the device.

“The director for the new Harrison Porter reboot franchise just announced the release date for the movie! Look! It’s next weekend!” There’s a sparkle in her eye that only shows when she’s overwhelmingly excited.

And so, Mammon does take the phone and acts surprised as he had already seen the announcement earlier that morning.

“Cool. Are ya gonna go see it with your brothers or cousins?” He asks.

“Well actually... I wanted to go see it with you. No one else really likes Harrison Porter as much as we do.” The thought of asking Zulima, Melissa, Solaris or either of her brothers had never crossed her mind in all the excitement. “And we never get to do anything together anymore since Mahlon always wants to to tag along. So I thought it could be something special we could do. Just us.”

“Sounds like fun. Sure, I’ll go with ya.” He tries to hide the surprise in his voice- how happy he is that she could have asked anyone else in their family to go see this movie with her but her first choice was him.

“Really?!”

There’s a big smile plastered across the 18-year-old’s face and Mammon can’t help but see the little eight-year-old version of his daughter. The one the would beg him to sit down and marathon all the existing movies in the franchise any chance she got. The one that would fall asleep next to him half way through their marathoning.

“Yeah, I’d love to go see it with you. You wanna go that first night right? For the midnight release?”

Azalea nods so excitedly the demon worries she might give herself whiplash.

“Yeah, midnight Saturday morning. You’re not gonna forget right? You promise?”

“I promise I’ll be there.” He smiles as she hugs him.

“Alright, I gotta go! I’m late for work. See ya next weekend. Bye!” And the half-demon is gone before Mammon can even ask if she wants to take some leftovers from last night’s dinner for her lunch break.

The Avatar of Greed should not make promises.

Over the coming week, Azalea’s excitement was only growing. It was noticeable to everyone currently residing in the House of Lamentation. The night before she was almost insufferable. Key word being almost.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you this excited for anything since we were little kids,” Aurelius comments as he relaxes on the couch in his sister’s room. “What, you finally get over that human spy and find yourself a real partner?”

“Don’t talk about Max like that…” is all Azalea can say as she peeks out from her closet. “She-“

“Max played with your emotions and betrayed you.” There’s an irritated look in his green eyes. “I’ll never forgive her for hurting you like that. Especially when you already thought you’d never get to have that type of relationship. I did call it though- that she couldn’t be trusted. I only got along with her because she was your girlfriend.”

“Thanks I guess…” is all she can sigh, as she lugs out a cosplay Levi had helped her put together a couple years back for next day’s movie showing. “That’s not why I’ve been so excited though.”

That peeks her brother’s curiosity.

“Your old Harrison Porter cosplay? What’re you getting that out for?”

“Well, you know how the new movie’s releasing Saturday at midnight? I asked Dad to go with me since we’re both into it ‘n he said yes- even promised he’d be there. I’m gonna wear my cosplay to the screening.”

“What is it with you, Henry, and Uncle Levi and your cosplays, I swear,” there’s a slight chuckle to the half-demon’s voice.

“You don’t have to laugh!” Azalea puffs out her cheeks as a blush dusts across them. “Just because you think it’s lame, you don’t have to put damper on my parade. And… maybe I was hoping it would help me make more real life friends...”

“I don’t actually,” there’s a small smile painted on his lips, “maybe its just because we grew up with Otakus for an uncle and aunt but I think it’s an endearing quality to be so passionate about a piece of media that you’d go all out to show you’re a fan.”

“And what’s all this about wanting real life friends?” He’s teasing her now, “What happened to that whole ‘alone but not lonely’ schtick you’ve been preaching since we were ten?”

Azalea is quiet as the embarrassed blush on her cheeks darkens and spreads up to her ears.

“Yeah… I was trying to fool myself into thinking I didn’t need anybody but family but… as we grew up and I watched you and Zulima get farther away from me I got more and more lonely…”

Aurelius looked surprised for a moment. He didn’t think she’d actually admit it.

“Well, if it’s friends you want, I think I may have some connections for you.” He smiles to himself as he flips through an issue of DevilStyle teen- window shopping for a birthday gift for his girlfriend. “Just give me a little time.”

Things fall into a comfortable silence as the twins continue about their activities, just existing in each other’s space peacefully.

Across town, Cyrus- unaware of the plans his Father and Sister had made- is begging Mammon to take him back down to the Fourth Layer.

“C’mon Dad, I think I’ve really gotten the hang of it now.” There’s excitement in the 23-year-old’s blue and gold eyes. “I promise that I can actually summon souls and not poultry.”

Trying to suppress a chuckle at his eldest’s excitement, the Avatar of Greed clears his throat.

“That’s great ‘n all, Cy, but I can’t go this weekend. I made plans with your sister and I really don’t wanna fall through on ‘em. Not when she’s this excited about it.”

“Just one day wouldn’t hurt right? Or even just a few hours. C’mon, please?” he just wants to prove to his father that he can do this. “PleasePleasePleasePleasePleeeeeeeeease!”

“Fine,” the demon relents with an amused sigh as he opens a portal to Hell, “we’ll go just for tomorrow but we have to be back by Saturday morning so I can get a chance to sleep in while your Ma’s still home.”

The line outside of the movie theater was huge. Azalea was glad she and her father had managed to get to get tickets last week before they’d sold out. Looking at the swarm of demons both young and old, she laughed to herself. If there was one thing demons seemed to love more than creating chaos, it seemed to be the fantastical- funny considering life here in the Devildom was fantastical enough as it was.

She scans the sea of demons surrounding her trying to spot her father among them but when she doesn’t a small knot of anxiety begins to form in her stomach. She looked at the time on her D.D.D. 11 pm.

This is fine, she thinks to herself as she takes a couple calming breaths, he still has 50 minutes to get here. That’s plenty of time before the line starts moving. He’ll be here. He promised.

She busies herself with an attempt at conversation with the demons around her.

It’s almost time for the doors to open and Mammon still isn’t there. She wonders if maybe he was just running late. She shifts her weight from foot to foot as she dials his phone. She gets no answer- in fact it didn’t even ring which means it was either dead or… he shut it off on purpose.

In all honesty, Azalea wouldn’t have been surprised if it was dead. Much like her, he had the horrible habit of running out the door with his phone at 20% battery. She still remembers the year where her mother, thoroughly fed up with this habit, had gotten both Azalea and Mammon portable battery packs to keep on their person for their birthdays so they’d never run into a situation like that again.

As the line starts to move, the 18-year-old follows the crowd. She’d just wait for him inside at the entrance.

He’ll be here. He promised.

30 minutes. 40 minutes. 50 minutes. An hour. Two hours. That’s how long Azalea waited. The movie was almost over and Mammon never showed.

He promised...He’ll be here. He promised… was all she kept telling herself even as the crowd from the midnight showing started to pour out, all of them raving about how good it was- how faithful to the source material the movie was. He said he’d be here. He promised me… he- he- He lied.

The realization strikes Azaleas with a brand new kind of pain. All she wanted was just this little bit of Mammon’s time. This isn’t anything new to her though. Her father has always been this way with her ever since Mahlon and Cyrus came into the picture. So why does it hurt even worse this time around? Why do things have to be so unfair for her?!?

As the last of the movie goers file out of the theatre, Azalea follows them. She’s not even angry. She’s just… numb.

She makes her way back to the House of Lamentation and trudges her way up to her room. It was foolish for her to think she’d ever be enough for him to consider clearing his scheduled for just three measly hours.

As she locks her door, she drags out a small box from under her bed, one that contains a set of blades from the all razors she’d dismantled at the height of her depression three years ago, along with a pure white towel that will be easy to bleach the bloodstains out of. She doesn’t have the will to even change out of her cosplay as she just hikes up the skirt to expose her thigh and starts slicing.

The pain makes her feel better. It reminds her of how worthless and insignificant she is.

Slice

The trickles of warm blood reminds her that unfortunately- no matter how bad things get, how deep she cuts- she has to go on living this worthless life.

Next are her arms. Glamour magic made them hard to see but the previous scars are still there. The vertical lines taunt her, tempting her to try again and maybe this time she’ll actually succeed in the goal she had three years ago.

She can see the artery she attempted with before. Last time, it wasn’t deep enough to keep her demonic healing from doing its job before she bled out. This time needs to be different. She doesn’t want to go on knowing she’ll always just be second rate in her father’s eyes.

Tears fall as she takes that last step.

Morning comes and Cyrus and Mammon finally make it back from the fourth layer.

“Damn, kid. When you said you thought you’d finally gotten the hang of summoning and judging souls, ya definitely weren’t kiddin’ were ya?” To say Mammon had was impressed would be an understatement. “1000 souls at once? Go for 2000 next time, alright?”

“Yeah,” Cyrus is beaming with so much pride, he could light up the room.

The pair are interrupted by Arella entering from upstairs.

“You’re both up early,” she smiles, “I would’ve thought you’d still be sleeping. How was the movie last night, Mammon?”

“What movie?” The demon’s confused and Cyrus mimics his father’s expression. “I didn’t go see a movie last night, I was in Hell with Cyrus. I’m goin’ to see the new Harrison Porter movie with ‘Zay tonight.”

“My understanding was that it was last night. Did something change? She was so excited to go with you.” Now Arella’s confused as she looks down at her phone, pulling up Devilgram and searching the trending page. “No… the movie opened up last night at midnight. They’re saying this was the best one yet.”

Mammon’s eyes widened as his heart dropped into his stomach at the realization that he’s once again fell through on his plans with Azalea before he’s pulling out his own phone only to find it dead. She couldn’t have even called him to ask where he was if she’d wanted to.

“I fucked up big time…”

It didn’t work. Of course it wouldn’t, Azalea already knew that it wouldn’t but at least she feels a little less numb. Her poor cosplay, however, is ruined- the shirt, sweater, and skirt all stained with her dried blood.

She frowns. Who’s idea of a sick joke was this? When you slit your wrists, that’s supposed to be lights out. The end, right? Why does she not get to have that? Why does she need to go on living in this personal hell?

She only rises from bed and pulls the blood soaked sheets off. If she’s lucky, she can pass off the blood stained sheets as her having started her cycle and no one will be the wiser. The skirt too. Explaining away the shirt will be trickier though. Maybe with enough bleach she can save it.

After a change of clothes, 18-year-old only gathers up her laundry and tip toes downstairs to wash it before anyone can notice.

Unfortunately for her, luck is not on her side. Aurelius and Zulima are in the kitchen having coffee and doing their morning stream when the pair spot her.

“Hey!!” Aurelius smiles, always the bubbly morning person he is, “How was the movie last night? Come talk about it on the stream.”

And Azalea can only shake her head. She’s trying to fight back the urge to cry- not when the thousands of demons watching his and their cousin’s stream would be able to hear her. Her pride just won’t allow it.

The pair only look between each other as they silently decide its time to end the stream and focus on Azalea.

“Well, I think that about does it for this morning.” Aurelius smiles brightly into the camera. “Something’s come up that we can’t ignore.”

“Be sure to tune back in tomorrow Besties. Bye for now!” She blows a kiss at the camera, “This everyone’s favorite, Zulima!”

“And Aurelius,”

“Signing off,” they both wave as Aurelius ends the stream and they’re on Azalea in a second.

“What happened?” Her brother is the first to speak. “Why don’t you wanna talk about the movie. You love info dumping on the Harrison Porter franchise.”

“Oh, your poor sheets,” Zulima frowns as she notices the bloody bundle of laundry in her cousin’s arms, “let me take care of those for you, okay? Daddy taught me a trick that works great on getting any type of blood out of any fabric.”

“N-no, it’s alright. My Mum taught me the same thing.” The freckled girl says softly as she carries on her way to the laundry room still followed by the other two half-demons.

“‘Zalea please,” Aurelius is incredibly worried about his sister. She’s not raising her voice at them and her eyes look so defeated. “What happened? You’re not acting like your normal self at all and it’s scaring me. If some creep jumped you on the way home I’ll-”

“He lied…” the tears finally flow freely. “He said he would be there but he never showed up. I didn’t go see the film ‘cause I was waiting for Dad. He promised.”

Aurelius and Zulima stop dead in their tracks. They never seen her cry over something like this before.

“Go get dressed.” The silver-haired half-demon says. This just won’t do. She doesn’t deserve to cry over a father who can’t get his shit together, “Aurelius, go wake Meli, Solaris, and get Henry to meet us at the theatre. We’re going to see that movie.”

“On it. I’ll call ‘Seph. She wanted to see it too but she had a rehearsal for her upcoming tour last night and was too bushed to go see it with me. And I’m sure Cyrus will want to go too.”

“Guys, no.” Azalea stops them. “I don’t want to go see it anymore. I’ll just catch it when it comes out on streaming.”

“Are you sure?” The pair ask.

“We don’t mind all going as a group- just us cousins… plus my girlfriend. If Dad can’t spare you three measly hours of his time, then we’ll all make up for it tenfold.”

Her eyes widen at her twin’s admission. It makes her happy to hear that someone wants to prioritize her for once. Still, she shakes her head no. She doesn’t want to be around anyone right now.

“I’m just gonna go back upstairs now. I know its my turn for meal duty so just let me know when y’all’re hungry.”

The pair only nod, deciding among themselves that Aurelius would take on the meals for today if it would help her out.

Its only a half-hour later when Mammon and Arella show up at the HOL, Azalea’s favorite snack- ghost peppers- in hand as a peace offering. The demon knows she’s probably pissed at him and rightfully so.

He promised to be at that movie theater last night and somewhere throughout the course of the week, he’d gotten it in his head that it was supposed to be Sunday night at midnight instead of Saturday night. He’d let her down for the last time.

They human-demon pair let themselves in to the House of Lamentation and they’re immediately met by Aurelius glaring daggers from the top of the banister down at Mammon.

“Leave.” The boy growls, green eyes conveying how absolutely livid he is with his father.

“Aurelius don’t take that tone with your father,” Arella starts, trying to mediate the situation before things can get to out of hand. “We just came to check on your sister and then we’ll go.”

“NO!” He leaps down and lands with a loud thud before marching up to them, getting right up in Mammon’s face, demon form manifested. “Mum can stay but you’re not welcome here. I’m not letting you hurt her again.”

“Watch who you’re talkin’ to, Aurelius,” He warns. If the 18-year-old wants to play intimidation games, Mammon can do him one better. “Ya don’t want a physical fight with me, I can promise you that.”

The teen goes to strike but Arella wont let him, catching him by his wrist and immediately dragging her son off to the common room. “No thanks, we’re not doing that today. Come with me.”

“You’re lucky Mum was here!” He shouts over his shoulder.

“Walk, young man!”

“Bold words for a kid who ain’t thrown a punch a day in his damn life…” the white-haired demon grumbles under his breath.

If her brother was this angry at what happened, Azalea must be enraged with him. Taking a deep breath, he begins to climb the stairs.

When he approaches the door, Zulima is just coming out. When she spots her uncle, her face contorts into a heavy snarl, body-blocking the door.

“I don’t know what you did to get past Aurelius but you’re not going in there to see her.” The silver-haired female grits her teeth. “You can’t make up for this.”

“Will y’all just let me explain! Damn, I dunno what’s gotten into the both of you but it needs to stop. Now.” Mammon stands with his hands on his hips. “I know I fucked up but it wasn’t on purpose.”

“It never is with you is it, Uncle Mammon? It’s never your fault that you treat your only daughter this way- only hers?”

“That’s not at all what I’m saying, Zulima. Now stand aside.”

“No! Ever since your real heir returned, you’ve been treating my cousin worse and worse- like she was just always meant to be Cyrus’ spare incase something ever happened to him. I’m tired of it. Aurelius is tired of it, and we won’t let it continue.”

“That’s not your decision to make, Zulima. You know that. If Azalea doesn’t want me around after this then I’ll back off but I wanna hear it from her.”

Still Zulima won’t move, standing her ground as she faces down her uncle.

She can hear the escalating argument from the common room, and while she knows Mammon would never dare lay a finger on his niece, Arella decides that it may be best to intervene and drag her niece down here to explain as much as she knows about the situation as it stands.

“Aurelius, I’m going to get your cousin. Don’t you dare move until I get back. I will tell you everything I know about what led up to what happened last night when I return.”

The boy only sits with his arms crossed as he heaves out a sigh. He still has a scowl plastered on his face as his mother turns and literally speed walks up the stairs as fast as she can.

“Zulima come with me.”

“But Auntie-“

“No, you need to come with me. We will talk about this but your uncle and cousin need to have this talk right now.” Arella escorts the half-demon down the stairs while Mammon enters his daughter’s bedroom much to Zulima’s protest.

He’s not sure what to expect when he steps into Azalea’s bedroom but its not his daughter just sitting quietly, eyes red-rung with spent tears, not even reacting to his presence. She must be so angry that she doesn’t even have the words.

“Hey,” his voice is soft as he takes a seat beside her on the bed. “I know you’re angry with me. I’m sorry for missing the movie.”

She still quiet, almost in a catatonic state it feels like. No movement, no change in affect- it almost feels like she hasn’t even registered that he’s there. Mammon would almost prefer that she try to deck him as hard as she can at this point. At least that’s familiar to him. This is scary.

And knowing that he’s caused this state for her- that every single broken promise has lead to this- just breaks his heart. If he could take it all back- every missed school function, every promise he’s ever come up short on, everything he’s ever done over the past five years- he would do it in a heartbeat.

“‘Zay, just look at me, please.” There’s sheer fear in his voice. This isn’t his daughter. His daughter gets angry. She screams and yells and cries, breaks things when she gets upset with him. The person sitting in front of him is but a shell of that girl.

“You lied…” her voice is far too quiet, broken even. “You promised.”

“I didn’t mean to. I wanted to be there but I-”

“Its okay… You don’t have to lie to me anymore… I know what I’m worth to you.” She finally turns to look at her father and he winces at the hollowness of her eye. There’s nothing there- no anger, no sadness, just emptiness. “And it’s nothing. Don’t worry, I won’t ask for anything again. I already know what the answer will be.”

She returns to her previous state of catatonia after that.

“You’re wrong. You’re worth everything to me just like your brothers. I know I let you down. You were so excited for it and I was too. I had every intention of being there with you but I got my days mixed up. I thought it was supposed to be tonight.”

Azalea doesn’t respond as her eye slips closed and she slumps over. It alarms Mammon as he calls her name but he also notices something new he hadn’t seen before from where he was sitting.

On the nightstand to the far side of her bed sits a half empty glass of water and an empty bottle of sleeping pills. His heart stops when he realizes what that means.

“ARELLA!!!”

“The matter of the fact is he still broke his promise.” Aurelius frowns after listening to his mother’s explanation. “And it broke my sister. His intentions don’t matter anymore. If he’d really wanted to be there he would’ve remember the correct date. She’s not the same anymore, Mum.”

“I know but you have to consider, even with his track record concerning your sister, that maybe this-” she stops at the sound out her husband’s voice.

The sheer panic in his tone is enough to send her bolting back up the stairs, Aurelius and Zulima not far behind.

When Arella arrives she’s greeted by the sight no mother ever wants to see. The sight of her daughter unresponsive in her bed. It sends her mind spiraling back in time to the day she found her little brother hanging in his room and back to the time she’d found her own mother sprawled out on her bed, slit wrists still bleeding out.

She’s frozen in place unable to do anything but stare and choke on her own breath so Aurelius does what his mother should’ve done immediately and snatches her phone to call for emergency services.

HOW I WENT FROM DADDY HURST TO PAPA SMURF IN THE NEW AVATAR MOVIE IN THE SPACE OF THREE AND A HALF MINUTES.

Half term holidays mean a few rare but cherished daddy and Martha days. This particular one started at 7am with Martha saying “dad DAD I’ve got chickenpox!” Motherclucker. The weather forecast was for springtime sunshine. We had a trip to the library planned, and I was going to see if we could maybe buy some strawberry plants and do some daddy daughter gardening. This was prevented by the pox, as we were placed under house arrest by our resident healthcare professional (i.e. mum) before she left for work. I had covid PTSD, trapped again.

Martha said she was feeling a bit tired, and wanted to have a sofa day. She had ditched her obsession with repeat binging the Wizard of Oz as soon as I decided to spend £7.99 purchasing it on Amazon movies. Today was a PJ masks kind of day. If you haven’t been subjected to the show before, the titular Masks are three school chums who go to school during the day (often discovering some knocked over paint cans or the mysteriously missing innards of a remote control) then get into their pyjamas (or PJs, geddit?) and spend the entire night gently fighting crime against one of three pint sized pre-pubescent baddies. They then seem to be back at school the next morning in the following episode, right as rain, not a yawn or eye bag in sight. I think they just neck a tonne of amphetamines between them in the closing credits. I can’t see it working out long term for these drug addled young ‘uns. Come to think of it, PJ could stand for ‘Phetamine Junkies.

A PJ Masks day meant Martha watching a series or three of the insomniac kid superhero cartoon before morphing herself into a variety of evil villains and making a lot of cardboard or paper remote controls to control the superheroes and make them do ridiculous things (the basic premise of at least 34.8% of the episodes). Once the first remote was manufactured, Martha asked which superhero was going to be controlled. I looked around. I was the only person there. Bad odds. Martha then threw a curveball, pointing to two invisible friends or Victorian ghosts at the side of me. “Will it be daddy, or medium girl or this little baby?’

I grabbed the crucifix and holy water from our exorcism drawer (located between the man drawer and the tea towel drawer) and doused the Persian rug before Martha announced “It will beee….daddyyyy!” I was glad that the ghosts had been busted, but kind of wished that we were inhabiting an actual haunted house so that I could be freed from the ridiculous clutches of the remote control. My spirit was crushed slowly over the next thirty minutes of ‘left, right, jump, backwards, freeze, unfreeze’, until the evil villain said that she needed a wee. I asked if I could be remote controlled to unload the washing machine and hang the laundry out. This was met with approval, and villain sent me on my way to the garden via the utility room.

It takes about three and a half minutes to hang out five work polo shirts and two pairs of jeans. I came back in and there was no sign of Martha. I looked up to the living room ceiling in case her spooky spectre sisters had levitated her in my absence, but no dice. I called up ‘Martha are you okay love?’ More silence. Silence is never good. It’s either a blunt head injury that results in loss of consciousness, or mischief. I feared the worst. Mischief.

I called out again as I turned to go upstairs. Martha was at the top of the stairs, in front of a 1950s G Plan full length mirror that she is single handedly on a mission to cover in fingerprints every 24 hours, despite my protestation. She really didn’t look well. She looked like she was a severe case of hypothermia. Or dead. I dialled 999. Then I noticed the blue marker pen in her left hand. I told the operator that I required no emergency service, unless cleaners were an emergency service, then I really REALLY needed a cleaner. She told me that cleaners were NOT an emergency service, like those lying bastards in the AA, sighed and hung up on me.

As I reached the top of the stairs , I saw that Martha had coloured her entire face in blue pen. Eyelids, lips, EVERYTHING. I felt like papa Smurf clapping eyes on Smurfette for the first time. Or an extra in a live action, lower budget remake of James Cameron’s zillion Dollar cartoon, ‘Avatar: the Way of Daughter’. Martha dropped the pen on the floor and stuck out her tongue. That was blue too. My kid had turned into Violet Beauregarde. I waited for her to inflate and float away to a restricted area of the chocolate factory, but she didn’t. My instant reaction was to laugh out loud whilst thinking ‘oh shit. We are BOTH in so much trouble’. We went straight into the bathroom for a good scrub and wash. Which removed about 90% of the pen, leaving Martha with the distinct look of a corpse. All she needed was a ruffle collared Victorian dress and she could have joined the spooky siblings in the line up for the next game of “who am I controlling now?”

Bogs Blog 10

Well, what a way to kick off the new year! After our weekend home alone, Jamie arrived back from his holidays on the Sunday night. We were lucky enough that he wasn’t starting back at work until Wednesday and we had two days with our builder. Benoit and I both hoped that this week we would finished the external frames that needed to be built for our tiny house. But we were surprised at how little time building the frames actually took, I guess them being so small really sped up the process! After our first building meeting on Monday morning and a good few cups of coffee, we headed down to the bottom shed and started on the frames, we worked for 6 hours and got three out of the four external wall frames completed. It was nuts and that evening we were all buzzing with the progress that we had made. Although we have been planning this for months, it was so exciting to get the first frames done, it is finally starting to feel real, to really start to see what it will look like and how big it will be. The next day we spent two hours and managed to complete the last frame. After drawing up the framing plans on CAD we found that the building was much easier than we had planned, all the lengths were exact and the fact that Jamie was there to help, guide and answer all questions definitely sped up the process. On Tuesday, Jamies last day of holidays we celebrated by getting Indian takeout (Benoits favourite in Pukekohe) and then we went to the movies to watch the new Avatar movie. It was a good evening and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Our progress without our builder is slower but not by too much. Luckily Jamie taught us well and these last few days we have been drawing up and building the internal framework for the bathroom area. By Thursday they were basically all done, however on Wednesday I had a migraine and on Thursday Benoit got one, so it definitely wasn’t the easiest end of the week for us. The tinyhouse is slowly (or rather quickly) coming to life and we are loving the process. We are both getting more confident with the tools and our understanding of the way things work is getting better, it’s a learning curve but one we are both loving. The fact that we are building it ourselves means that we are free to make the changes that we want to when we want to. A few days ago, we decided that we would like a mirror cabinet in the bathroom to allow for more storage, and although I initially didn’t want this, as I liked the funky tiles and circular mirror look which is popular at the moment. However, we decided the storage with this option was too good to pass up. So after we found the one that we wanted, we allowed for the gap to be built into the frames. Just the fact that we were able to do that, understood what we needed to do and get it done was an achievement in itself to be honest. And now that it has been allowed for in the wall plan it won’t stick out as much on the wall. So a win win and a testament to our new building skills.

One of those being the obvious one, that Le moulin Henry is already Benoits family’s business and so it has a certain family background, the name relates to Belgium and that is pretty neat. The second because le moulin is metaphorically a place where the door is always open and that anyone is welcome and that is what we hope that our tinyhouse will be, an open door to anyone and everyone that comes to visit us in New Zealand.

Apart from building we haven’t really been up to much, mum and dad are still at the lake so we have the house to ourselves with Jamie. We have fallen into a pretty relaxing lifestyle. We wake up, have our tea and coffee and then spend the day working on our various projects. When Jamie gets back from work, we spend our evenings cooking dinner while catching up on our days and tinyhouse planning, and then we usually blob in front of a movie for the evening. It is a nice way to get back into a routine, much easier than starting back at work which I will have to do next week. For now I am enjoying having the time to knit or read my book during the day and not have too many things on my plate. I have started a knitting project, which was one of my goals for 2023 so I am enjoying doing that in the evenings too. I love having something to knit or crochet while watching tv, yes I know, I am a grandma at the ripe old age of 26.

So far summer has been inclement and apart from a few good days on sunshine, the weather has mostly been raining and clouds, although it is good for the garden, it has not been the easiest for building or playing tennis, I guess we still need to work in getting our weekly tennis in. We have played tennis once this week, but it was the one day which was a scorcher, and we were both knackered after an hour. We have also been busy getting the house ready for the return of mum and dad, and spent ages mowing the lawns which were well overgrown and cleaning the house. So this week has been very busy despite the holiday feeling. I for one am not looking forward to going back to work next week, the holidays are a good thing and it will be hard for them to come to a close. We have enjoyed ourselves so much with the right amount of relaxing, activities, social events and progress on our house. Lucky Benoit gets to stay at home and continue this life of leisure while I go out and get bread money!
