#i promise i like asgore i just like making fun of him just as much
Note
Can I have some skeletons brothers arguments? Like time they really got angry with each other.
Undertale Sans - Sans is pretty chill and forgiveful, and he really didn't have a lot of reasons to get mad at Papyrus as he grew up as, even if he was quite a rebel in his young years, Papyrus was just respectful of all the hard work his brother did to keep them both alive when they were homeless. There's one time though when Sans got mad, well freaked-out mad actually. Papyrus was obsessed by this new scarf his brother stole bought for him, and one day, it got quite dirty. The young kids in town kept mocking him because of this and called him bad names. Despite being a snow storm announced, and Sans firmly forbidding him to get out, Papyrus waited for him to leave for one of his jobs before going to the river to wash the scarf himself. Papyrus fell in the very cold water and only survived because one of the Snowdin Rabbit saw everything and ran to get him out. Papyrus felt so ashamed, and even more when Mrs Rabbit told everything to Sans, who screamed at him for being so immature. Papyrus got angry too, telling that it wouldn't have happened if he listened to what he got to say and that now he will be the talk of the town and that all the kids will make fun of him. Sans slowly calmed down and tried to explain he was just very worried, but Papyrus refused to talk to him before the next day. That's one of the very rare arguments they had in their childhood and Sans still feels a little guilty, thinking that maybe he could have done something else.
Undertale Papyrus - Well clearly that time he let Sans borrow his car and Sans came back with it totally destroyed because he fell asleep driving and hit a wall. Sans promised to pay for the damages, but Papyrus screamed back that he didn't care about the damages but about his narcolepsy which was becoming more and more of a problem because he could have killed himself! He won't force his brother to have a medical appointment, but he will surely call him out on it to make him think about what could have happened if he had driven faster.
Underswap Sans - Blue used to not understand very well Honey's hypersensibility when younger, and there's this one time when he pressured him to get a job for days, driving Honey more and more into a corner until he decided for him and getting him hired in a random place. Honey finally snapped, screaming why he is doing this to him, that he was so insensitive, and that it was not by forcing his hand that he would be better. Blue answered back that if he was normal, he wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. That was too much for Honey, who left the house and disappeared for two weeks. Blue realized his mistake eventually and when he found him finally, he apologized for not respecting his boundaries. That talk however left a mark and Honey never talked with him about his neurodivergence, preferring Asgore or Undyne to talk about these types of things.
Underswap Papyrus - One big fight they had was about Blue's tendency to run towards danger before thinking of a plan, which led him to get shot not even three weeks after he engaged himself in the police. Blue shakes it off like it's nothing, but Honey screams at him to make him realize it is not just about him, that people care about him and that getting himself killed won't make him a hero in the eyes of the people he loves, just someone who died. Blue took a step back and calmed down after that.
Underfell Sans - They fight all the time, but that one time Edge came home all proud saying he engaged in the Royal Guard was one of the memorable ones. Red worked his ass off to make sure to keep his brother far away from the Royal Guard, because he was too nice and it was obvious he would die in the first few days, but Edge refused to listen to him. They both screamed a lot this night, Red insulting him a lot, then screaming at him to just die then if he doesn't trust him that much. Red is still feeling bitter about this, even years after Edge became Captain. He lived it like a failure, as he didn't manage to protect his little brother from the horrors of the Underground.
Underfell Papyrus - Once they arrived on the Surface, Edge proposed they could live in different houses to give each other some space to heal. Red took that as his brother not wanting to be near him anymore and snapped at him, screaming that if he wanted to get rid of him all these years, he just had to kill him himself, that he is a coward and that's not how their relationship will fix. They avoid each other for three months after that until Undyne gets tired of their bullshit and locked them in both in a room to fix their bond.
Horrortale Sans - The biggest they ever had was when Willow realized Oak tricked him into eating human meat. Oak knew Willow would never have done it willingly, but he was also becoming weaker and weaker. Oak couldn't stay there and do nothing, so he pretended he found some food in the dump and force-fed him. Willow found the corps later in the forest and stomped back home to scream at Sans that what he did was wrong and that he made him his partner in crime when he never wanted to hurt any human in the first place. Willow never totally forgave Oak for this, but after three weeks of living in the Ruins with Toriel, the Queen managed to convince him Oak did that only to protect him, and that he didn't think wrong. Willow reluctantly agreed to see him again.
Horrortale Papyrus - The first time Oak realized Willow brought Undyne's and Alphys' dust on the Surface and gave them a tomb. Oak screamed he didn't understand anything and that he is clearly naive if he thought Undyne felt anything for him again in the end. Willow answered back that he knew that, but that he wanted his friend to go to the Surface, the one that died at the beginning of the famine when she became Emperess of the Underground. He doesn't need his permission anyway because not everyone pretends everything is fine since they're on the Surface when all they do is struggle to adapt. He called Oak a hypocrite, and they refuse to talk to each other for a few days.
Swapfell Sans - Nox snapped at him when he saw him drunk on the couch, drugged, one night he came home on the Surface, as Rus promised he wouldn't do this again. Nox tried to wake him up, Rus attacked him violently, saying he was pissing him off with all his lectures when he was not even able to apply them himself. It was a one-sided argument, as Rus was too far gone to answer, but Nox felt so hurt he kept hurting himself now that they had a chance to do things right again he left him a letter and disappeared for two months to travel. When he came on, Rus actually learned his lesson and started therapy to be better. Everything got better in the end.
Swapfell Papyrus - One massive argument the brothers had was when Sans was hired in the Royal Guard. To protect his brother, a young teenager at the time, Sans asked the Queen if he could propose Rus for adoption, so he wouldn't wear his name and therefore avoid being threatened by his rivals. Nox refused to talk about this to his brother before the agents knocked on his door to take him away. Obviously, Rus didn't take it well and ran away by the window. Nox, full of guilt, searched him for weeks, only to find him hired by the resistance, against the Queen. He dragged Rus out of there, but Rus never forgave him, which is one of the numerous reasons the brothers almost decided to never see each other again a few days before the barrier broke, before Nox finally tried to fix their relationship.
Fellswap Gold Sans - It was in their childhood. One of Coffee's best friends had been sentenced to death for stealing something in the weapon building of the Royal Guard. Wine had been designed to be the executioner. Coffee begged him for days to not do it, that he would never forgive him, but he did anyway, because what other choice did he have? When he came home, however, Coffee had packed all his things and disappeared. Wine searched him for weeks before finally spotting him sleeping outside in Waterfall, famished and injured because some monsters tried to kill him. Wine apologized, but Cofffee didn't say a word to him for two long years, before starting to tolerate him again. Wine still wonders if he could have done things differently.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - When after several years on the Surface, Coffee entered into a relationship with a human, Wine wasn't very enthusiastic. However, they both snapped at each other when after some months, Coffee decided to live with their partner and Wine refused, pretexting he couldn't guarantee his security and that he doesn't allow it. Coffee screamed that he was not a child anymore and he had nothing to allow him since he was a responsible adult who could make his own choices. Wine, in psychological distress, tried to keep him in his room, but Coffee left by the window. He texted him to call him once he calmed down and realized how ridiculous he was. Wine will eventually, awkwardly. It's hard to let go of his old habits, but he's willing to try.

Two-For-One Disability Month Special: Undertale Oneshots
Happy Disability Month guys! Don't forget that July is Disability Month by the way. I have lots of headcanons for Disabilities in UT/DR so I *may* post more of these unless I get too distracted. LMao. Enjoy the stories!
~~~
Part One: ASL Discussion with Frisk
“We shall have to discuss this properly, but in exchange for magic, we can probably promise to supply you with basic protection and rights,” one of the State Leaders was telling Asgore as the two of them busily chatted about integrating monsterkind in with humanity. Frisk knew humanity had suffered a lot recently, with plague, failing crops, and rebellions. The chance to fix some things up using magic wasn’t something they would want to miss out on.
Meanwhile Papyrus was gazing at Frisk curiously. “HUMAN…I CAN’T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT THIS HUMAN DOES NOT TAKE PAUSES WHILE SPEAKING.”
Frisk was a bit surprised. “Yeah,” they said. “I have–a stutt–er.”
“OH! THAT–REALLY EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!” put in Papyrus, looking a tad embarrassed.
“Huh. You were so quiet, I never really noticed,” commented Undyne.
Toriel smiled down at Frisk. “My child, do you know sign language?”
Frisk frowned and shook their head. “I always–wanted–to learn–but I–never found–any–one–who–could teach–me.”
“Human sign language may have changed since I found that book in Waterfall, and I’m sure monster sign, which originated from human sign, will have developed some accent differences…” Toriel began speculating, sounding like an excited teacher taking on a new project.
“Accents?” asked Frisk, curious.
“Yes! Different places have many differents sign language  accents and accessories. Quite charming, is it not?” Toriel grinned. “Sign language is also much like a different language. There is a difference in sentence structures to English. Did you know, when referring to an event that happened, you will use the front of your body as a timeline? If you put your hand close to you, it happened in the past. Far in front of you, will happen in the future. And in the middle, something that is happening.”
“Wow–! I–didn’t–know that–sign was–so diff–erent!” This was interesting.
“Human sign?” Alphys had been listening to this conversation with interest. “Maybe I could learn!”
“You know what?! LET’S ALL LEARN!” shouted Undyne excitedly. “Frisk freaking freed our civilization! (While we were all trying to kill them.) The least we could do is learn sign so they aren’t constantly struggling to make a single SENTENCE!”
Frisk hopped up and down. “Yes yes–yes yes–yes yes–YES!”
“SANS?” put in Papyrus.
Sans was watching Frisk’s fun with amusement.
“DO NOT BE A LAZYBONES! YOU HAVE TO LEARN WITH US! IT WILL BE FUN!!! BESIDES…IF YOU WILL NOT, YOU KNOW I CAN PICK YOU UP AND CARRY YOU TO LESSONS! NYEH HEH HEH!!!”
“sure,” agreed Sans easily. “i’ll learn it.” He winked at Frisk. Frisk gave him fingers-guns in return.
“Is that human sign?” asked Toriel, forgetting that Frisk couldn’t sign in her sudden distress. “Oh dear, I must be further behind than I thought…”
“No,” stated Frisk while the entire group erupted with laughter. Except Asgore, who looked over curiously and, when Undyne explained the situation, seemed just as confused as Toriel.
Part Two: Crutch-User Chara
Asriel glanced at Frisk, who seemed unconcerned, swinging their legs back and forth. It was all fine for them, thought Asriel. They had raised the dead before–him. But humans seemed so much more complicated than monsters. Chara had fallen to the ground, legs unable to support them, briefly after getting their body back.
A nurse hurried down the hall and approached the siblings. “Are you Frisk and Asriel Dreemurr?”
“Yes!” exclaimed Asriel, jumping up with an energy that surprised even himself. “Is Chara okay?”
The nurse smiled. “She–whoops, they are fine. However, their legs get worn out very easily. They’ll be using either crutches or a wheelchair most of the time.”
Asriel nodded, anxiety pricking his heart for his best friend. Chara had always loved gymnastics, and pulling off stunts of physical derring-do. Would Chara be upset they couldn’t move anymore?
“Would you like to visit them, children?”
“YES!” gasped Asriel instantly, as Frisk nodded excitedly.
“All right, I can take you to their room.” The nurse took Asriel and Frisk’s hands and companionably walked them down the hall, in the elevator (letting Frisk press the button), and down another hall and did these halls ever end? Asriel wasn’t usually an impatient person, but he really wanted to get to Chara, soon.
The nurse knocked. “Come in!” called Asgore.
Asriel tapped his foot while the nurse spent what was only a few seconds that felt like hours searching her keychain for the correct key before unlocking and opening the door. Frisk and Asriel burst in.
Chara glanced at them. “Hi guyssss!” they shouted enthusiastically. They didn’t seem particularly put off by their crutches, and were swinging themself around the hospital room at an alarming rate, dodging furniture by a hair's breadth and always one step ahead from Asgore, who was trying to catch them.
“Chara, please stop!” begged Asgore. “You’re too fast for me to catch and I fought in a war!”
Chara cackled as they swung themself around the hospital table and got knocked over.
Asgore squealed and situated Chara back up on their crutches. Chara wasn’t put off by the failure and went right back to running.
“No more!” ordered Toriel in her firm voice, so Chara rolled their eyes, stopped, and then grinned at Asriel and Frisk. “Frisk! Azzy! Look at these things! I think I might be moving even faster than before I got them!”
Frisk clapped their hands in enthusiasm. “Cool!” commented Asriel as Chara started running again.
Toriel and Asgore cornered Chara while Toriel picked the human child up and said “When I said no more of that, I meant it.” But she was smiling so hard. Everyone could tell she was ecstatic at Chara’s return.
Asriel found himself giggling. He had forgotten how…fun Chara was. Humorous, zealous, energized, and so full of life. As a flower, he had forgotten all that and idolized Chara, erasing their real self. Chara hadn’t been Chara, Chara had been the voice inside of Asriel’s head he used to judge himself. And of course he would have to sit Chara down and make sure they knew that murder was bad, manipulation was bad, but…
Asriel smiled as Toriel and Chara started exchanging leg puns. This was a good day.
We've got some good thoughts already, aside from Sans. The only thing he's eager about is quitting. You can't blame him with how hard this all is, but we have to win this case despite that!
Let's see... During the war, we couldn't even manage to take one life while countless monsters died. They were also allowed to make these murders since it's a given of war, but all this means is monsters haven't manage to kill anyone until Asgore's seven souls. Humans are much more bloodthirsty, and most monsters could hardly even hurt humans if they tried. At the point when souls were taken, we were forced to do so just to live free from a barrier which was put in place for no real reason in the first place. Monsters were innocent for the longest time and beaten down on by humans for that one instance with the curious child who absorbed the soul of their already dead friend. The kid didn't even try to harm anyone with it, like Alphys said.
I'd like to say I should go as a witness as well since I also know asgore well and grew up in politics so I know how things work, but then again I didn't perform well last speech and I might ruin this again in addition to sparking some negative reactions just by showing me face.
Speaking of, d'you think people are going to try to take me for murder? Or would the police not care since that human was obviously an idiot? At least I hope it was obvious.
(Kara) "Honestly, I have no idea. How hasn't he been arrested? I'm happy about it but confused." (John) "While you are probably a criminal, you are a criminal of war, so…" (Dess) "It doesn't matter. We have great security." (Kara) "People spraypainted your house." (Dess) "They were protecting you. They are everywhere." (Kara) "Spies cost money." (Dess) "You want to know how we can afford everything? There's one monster who's so popular even some humans give him plenty of money." (Mettaton) "It's me, darlings! You can see why, can't you? I'm so glamorous it connects the world because everyone agrees I'm hot." (Kara) "Whatever pays. Now, one last question." (Dess) "What is it?" (Kara) "What will we do with the Anons?" (Dess) "I was about to ask the same thing."
Tumblr media
(Kara) "How many problems can we handle? I feel like I'm about to explode. You can change your voice, as well. Great, now you could all be psychos. 'Hey Kara, did you have enough stress today? No? Well, let's make it so you want to pull out your hair and punch yourself so hard you'll be unconscious. Won't that be great?'Looks around and sees the monsters hiding behind a chair. Sorry, something slipped out. Now, how did you get here? Cause when one person gets in…"
Tumblr media
(Kara) "Wait, Chara did this again?" (Dess) "Um, Kara? I don't mean to alarm you too much, but we're not hiding because of you." Kara turns around and sees Chara pop out. (Chara) "Howdy!" (Kara) "Oh shit!" (Chara) "Don't worry, I'm not here because of blood lust. Well, not now. Tee hee. I'm here because I thought a flower would've been my mailman, but he seems too afraid. Don't worry. I'll tell them. Winks. You see, I think you should take this more seriously." (Kara) "Why?" (Chara) "Oh, let's just say monsters will be free one way or another, whether it's by death or love. Most likely both. I guess you've met some of the anons. I thought about giving you a little fun because we all know how boring court dramas can be." (Dess) "Don't you want monsters having less discrimination? How does bringing more hate solve anything?" (Chara) "Well, if you can't handle a simple creature like an anon, you should give up! I promise you I'll make it quick." No one spoke. The wind could've gone 1 MPH, and everyone would've heard it. (Chara) "Okay! If you want a ridiculous trial, then who am I to judge? Good luck! Try not to die to the anons!"
UNDERTALE BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND SCENARIOS
First Hangout
Tumblr media
-TORIEL
The first time you hung out with Toriel was when she invited you to her house while Frisk was at school
She made some tea and you two ended up talking to each for hours.
You left when Frisk came home so that Toriel could start making you dinner.
She escorted you back to your car and bid you farewell.
"Next time you come over, I will make you some butterscotch and cinnamon pie!"
-SANS
The first time you hung out with Sans, he invited you over to watch funny shows with him.
Although you two didn't talk much and he ended up falling asleep and you had to be escorted out by his brother.
You still had a really fun time.
"hey hey, how's it goin'?"
-PAPYRUS
The first time you hung out with Papyrus was at his house.
You two had talked on the phone the other day and somehow the subject of spaghetti was brought up.
Another human friend of his told him the way he made spaghetti was incorrect and so he asked if you knew how.
You said you did, and thus you taught him how to make spaghetti in his kitchen.
It was messy and a lot of work. But you two had a lot of fun and ended up making pretty damn good pasta.
"WELCOME TO MY HUNBLE ABODE, (Y/N)!"
-UNDYNE
The first time you hung out with Undyne was when you two decided to see a scary movie together.
You both like scary movies, and while everyone else was screaming in terror, you and Undyne were laughing at the really bad jumpscares.
You had the best time with her.
"PFBFBFTTT! LOOK AT HOW FUNNY CHUCKY'S KID LOOKS! HAHAHA!"
-ALPHYS
Your first hang out with Alphys happened at her house.
The minute she found out you liked Anime, she wanted to have you over as soon as possible.
When you got there, her house was mostly cleaned up, and she sat on the couch surrounded by snacks.
You two binged all of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie and you two finished your favorite anime as well.
You ended up staying the night and you two fell asleep on her couch together.
"H-Have you ever seen M-Mew Mew Kissy Cutie?....N-No?! Oh boy, you're in for a t-treat!"
-METTATON
After Mettaton slipped you his number, he scheduled a little hang out session for you two.
A private hang out session.
No cameras, and no one else.
He sent a car to your address to pick you up and you were brought to his mansion.
When you arrived, he stepped outside and greeted you as if you were an old friend he hadn't seen in years.
The hangout was only two hours but you two got to know each other quite a bit.
After the hangout was over, he walked you back to the car and gave your knuckles another kiss.
Then the driver drove you back to your house.
"(Y/N), MY LOVELY! IT'S SO WONDERFUL TO FINALLY MEET YOU! COME IN, COME IN!"
-ASGORE
The first time you hung out with Asgore was went you two went out to a cafe for tea.
You met him there and he payed for both of you.
The two of you talked for a good long while and had at least three cups of tea each.
There was just so much to talk about!
You had to leave the hangout session to go to an appointment but promised to see Asgore again.
Why wouldn't you after having such a fun time talking to him?
"Howdy (Y/n)! I hope you like the little cafe I picked out."
-MUFFET
The first time you hung out with Muffet was as she was closing up shop.
She was cleaning her counters and you came in ti ask how business was.
She was so happy to tell you all about how everything went uphill when she took you advice and you two ended up talking and hanging out as she cleaned.
Which eventually turned into you two getting coffee together.
"Oh dearie! I took your advice adn everything went wonderfully!"
-GRILLBY
The first time you hung out with Grillby was at the beach.
Not to go swimming, but to take a walk.
You walked in the water, while Grillby obviously did not.
The two of you walked amd talked for a long while, until it got late and you had to go home.
You had fun though and you were happy to do it again.
"...you're not going to splash me...are you?"
-GASTER
When you walked back into the underground, Gaster told you that you had to find three of his "followers"
He explained to you that he used to be the royal scientist for the king.
Until he was accidentally killed by his experiment.
His body and soul were shattered, divided into four parts.
And those other parts took the shape of other monsters, hence why they are technically his followers.
He was waiting for someone who could see him to help him and it turned out to be you.
In each landmark besides Home, there was a gaster follower.
The way to get his follower reconnected to him was to touch both of them at the same time.
That way, Gaster could "absorb" his follower back into his body.
Everytime you did, he came a little less goopy and see through, and a lot more like a skeleton monster.
After the final gaster follower was "absorbed", Gaster's soul appeared in front of his fully corporeal body and returned to its owner.
He reached out to touch you, gently holding your shoulder before he pulled you into a hug.
He thanked you for bringing him back from the dead.
Then you two left the underground, and went to join the others.
"⚐︎☟︎ 💣︎✡︎ ☝︎⚐︎👎︎...❄︎☟︎✌︎☠︎😐︎ ✡︎⚐︎🕆︎...❄︎☟︎✌︎☠︎😐︎ ✡︎⚐︎🕆︎...❄︎☟︎✌︎☠︎😐︎ ✡︎⚐︎🕆︎ 💧︎⚐︎ 💣︎🕆︎👍︎☟︎..."
(Translation: Oh my god...thank you...thank you...thank you so much...)
[Hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned for more and have a good day]
I wrote out yet another infodump about my Fanonfell Mettaton on Discord, so I figure that I may as well post it on here too, cringe culture being dead and all that.
Begin copy-paste:
So the thing about Underfell is that it was just a bunch of designs (or descriptions of designs in Mettafell's case) that OP only expounded on with a "canon" later after people were thoroughly having fun making things on thier own, often hilariously edgy (and admittedly sometimes downright unpleasant) directions. Mine's more Horrortale lite than anything resembling Vic's ideas tbh but I don't care I Am Having Fun
But yeah, essentially mine is Mettaton from the eeevil mirror universe where Asgore became bloodthirsty after the deaths of his children instead of empty and dragging the rest of the resentment-filled monsterkind down a "kill or be killed" path right behind him. So a little ghost is still born full of wanting and craving admiration, but he hates humans just as much as everyone else does and REALLY wants to do something about it. He meets Alphys (who really is a total Mad Scientist who's only regret about the Amalgamates is that the experiment failed here) while she's scrounging for parts in the Waterfall rubbish tip (Human Fan Clubs aren't gonna be a thing here). Recognizing ambition, the two hit it off and he becomes something of a lab assistant for a while. Eventually, after yet another round of promises that Asgore is not going to keep, Alphys realizes he'd be the perfect host for a human-hunting robot, one designed to prey on the fear of humans (insects, things with big mouths full of razor-sharp teeth and hands with razor claws, things that look superficially human but are "off"…). Mettaton is delighted at first, and he merges with the body, celebrating both all the newfound sensations and the promise of purpose.
But of course, the barrier wasn't broken, and he quickly finds himself purposeless again. By the time we meet him he is…not doing well In an inverse of canon, Alphys ends up pulling away, completely absorbed in her work and desperation to get back into Asgores good graces, so he is quite alone. His body eventually becomes a bit of a clusterfuck held together by electrical tape and hope due to his often having to repair himself following violent altercations with other monsters. He starts blaming his appearance for the reason he feels so empty, wondering if his decision to become corporeal was a mistake in the first place.
His switch is jammed, so he no longer can switch to his oval-shaped power saver mode, meaning he has to recharge pretty often. But, Alphys often locks the lab while she's working as a safety precaution, meaning he has to scrounge for food and available electrical outlets like a man in an airport as an alternative. While I'm not 100% sure how they first meet, he strikes up quite a toxic friendship with Papyrus, captain of the royal guard. Papyrus is just as desperately lonely as he is in canon, but he fears showing weakness and his emotionality comes in the form of quite a nasty temper. Mettaton needs the protection of the third most powerful monster in the Underground, and Papyrus doesn't know how to keep a friend without having collateral over them, so while they both want the companionship they make each other thoroughly miserable. Papyrus ends up getting him a job as an actor in the capital… as the villain in bizarre and terrible propaganda films the crown produces, turning his face into an easy target for the public's resentment.
His fortunes begin to change twofold: he agrees to be the lab rat in an experiment of Alphys' that will apparently open up a door into an adjacent dimension, allowing the Underfell monsters to invade and hopefully impressing Asgore again. This apparently fails, but it establishes a mental link with the Mettaton living the adjacent universe, Lust Mettaton. The two end up hitting it off due to how similar they are under the surface and the way they both are dealing with skeletons they have mixed feelings about.
Concurrently to his growing relationship with Lust Mettaton, he hears from Papyrus that another human has fallen into the Underground, he and Alphys hatch a scheme that he plans to betray in the end. He will gain the human's trust as they are publicly menaced by the mad scientist, only to lead them to an execution point in the CORE and kill them in glorious and public fashion, handing the SOUL over to Alphys after. However, he goes rogue. He's just… done at this point and figures that leaving on his own to hunt humans on the surface is his only real chance to improve his circumstances at all. Unfortunately, the superpowered Frisk royally kicks his ass in front of the whole world on said soundstage and the infamous Underfell comic where he's viciously harassed until he ends his life nearly happens until the boundaries between realities finish breaking (causing cataclysmic damage) and his fellow tormented robot lands quite unceremoniously upon his head.
Thus begins his road to improving his self-esteem and kicking a lot of ass alongside his two companions (the aftermentioned Lust Mettaton as well as canon NEO from an aborted No Mercy run). He develops an interest in fashion, but if Canon Mettaton looks like an explosion at Claire's he looks like an explosion at a 90s hot topic. He looks like he took one look at Shadow the Hedgehog and went "you know what, this is my gender now". By the end he's become so fond of himself and the things that make him unique and monstrous that in the end, when No Mercy survivor Alphys offers to repair the accumulated damage on him and change him into something he likes better, the only cosmetic change made besides fixing the damage is a THIRD pair of arms.
Translation notes 11-15 | HANDPLATES
8 ALSO I FORGOT TO MENTION- In the seventh, gaster says „Boże daj mi cierpliwość …”which means „God give me patience” which, for these who don’t know, just seems like a little saying. But, if you have some insight, you know that the rest of the saying is „Because if you give me strength, I’ll kill” which is very gaster of him. 11. Okay. 11 comic. hoo this is a lot in one day, anyways. I think that from now on gaster will use masculine versions for them no matter what. Since he did describe them as „two little skeletons” and skeleton is masculine. Possibly in later issues he’ll be switching in between them to show his inner turmoil? We’ll cross that bridge once we get there. ALSO, we got translated baby talk! I generally used some slang to base the words off of, since, you know, it’s usually just easier to say versions of proper words. Example Baby Papyrus said: No cry, See, One okay, One No-mal. And so I translated it into: Ne Płac, pac, je oke, je dobsz. Which roughly says: Dnt Cry, l-k , u oke, u gut. For once I’m glad I have a little brother, so I can better translate the baby talk.Anyways, other fun things…I again translated little as tiny, because it just felt right. Calling them „tiny skeletons” feels way more dad, and I need that sort of softness in my life.
12. UGHHHHH WHY WAS IT SOOO LONG??? Anyways, it was kind of tedious, but I think it was worth it, I find it to be one of the best like…calm before the storm comics? I actually forgot about the first time of the comic, so I was like, whew, finished, and then noticed that no, I was not finished. So yeah, that was f u n. I don’t know what to say about this one…it was long, not too many too interesting translation stuffs…
13. Okay, who, this was shorter, and much more pleasant. I changed some translations, to make life easier.like when asgore says „this is my duty, as a king. But my duty is also to my people, and my friends” and I changed it to basically „that’s my duty as a king, but my duty is also to serve my people, to serve my friends ” because it felt R I G H T. I sometimes wonder if it’s okay that I change the text im translating like this. But it feels correct to change it, because making a 1:1 translation isn’t my point here, it’s giving the polish audience the experience of hand plates in their native language. Oh, I also changed the last line to „I promise” because I didn’t want to make it like this…loooooooong and hard to read sentence, it’s the end of a comic part, it has to HIT.
14. Made sure the last sentence hit again, instead of saying „I WILL NOT FAIL” Gaster basically says „I will not disappoint” which I feel like fits him more…and the I don’t have a good 1:1 translation for the polish so it’s a win win! I changed the bit where papyrus asks about Gasters hands from „WHY DON’T MY HANDS LOOK LIKE YOURS? You and subject 1 don’t look alike, do you? Guess not” to „Papyrus: Dlaczego moja ręka nie wygląda jak twoja? Gaster: Ty i Obiekt 1 nie wyglądacie tak samo, więc dlaczego mamy my? Papyrus: W sumie…” which roughly translates to „Why isn’t my hand like yours? You and subject 1 don’t look the same, so why would we? makes sense…” the last word can’t be perfectly translated. Basically it means like an „actually you’re right” or „W sumie czemu nie” means „Sure why not” but „W sumie” also means in total or in all. So it also would fit in a „all in all” translation. Gaster feels colder when it’s put that way, which he definitely would be at this point.
15. I specifically translated „it is done” to „I did it” to show how gaster takes responsibility for what he’s done. I turned the „their limited worldview […] out of the pieces?” Part into a very specific building/ruins metaphor, since earlier I translated „a mutual scaffolding” into „a mutual foundation” so now it can be tied together, as if the building they build with Gaster’s aid got torn to shred by his cruelty. I changed the way that sans tries to comfort Papyrus, instead of saying „we’re okay” he says „We’re in this together”. It ties better with their codependency and also sounds better.  I also translated „oh jeez” into „boziu” which is very similar, like they mean the same thing, but they’re used differently in the cultures. Boziu is most often used by older people, often referencing baby jesus, but it also sounds very childish, like a little kid would pick it up from their grandparents. This feels especially nostalgic to me, since I’m at my grandma’s as of writing this and she says that a lot.
Since I’ve hit the 15 mark, I’ll try to get to 20 if possible, but if not, I’ll try and get started on editing the pages to be translated. Hopefully I can provide the best hand plates experience to the polish side of the fandom…if it even exists. If it doesn’t then I know that hand plates can stand on it’s own regardless! Again, thanks to the amazing @zarla-s for giving me permission to translate this wonderful work! as a more personal note, I hope that as my translations go on, I’ll be able to maybe get a job as a translator? It sounds very cool in concept and as you might have noticed, I really enjoy it…well, let’s just hope my translations can pack enough of a punch so that it has at least half the force of the source material!
What is the cast's deepest regret?
ohohohHO this is a fun one >:DDD
For Papyrus, I have two answers. If we’re talking about post-becoming evil to pre-pacifist end, it’s not having killed the village. Killing the village means Sans wouldn’t have died in vain, the underground would be free, and he would’ve been happy. I’ve seen some people say that Flowey is glad he’s changed, but I don’t think that fits him. Sure, he’s numb and hardened himself, but I wouldn’t say he wouldn’t want to go back. He talks about resetting the timeline once and for all at the end, and although I don’t really think of what he was doing, the theory I subscribe to the most is that he wanted to destroy the memories and live a life, possibly without memories. He’s not downright malicious. He’s just numb and bored. So same thing goes with Doggo! If pre-evil or post-pacifist, I think it would be agreeing to Sans’ plan for basically the same reasons.
For Sans, unless if a genocide run has been committed, it would be for going through with the plan as well. He was being rash and not thinking things through, and it brought the underground and his family so much pain. Even if they didn't fail, he pushed Paps to do something he didn't want to do and it probably wouldn't work to just kill 6 humans without anyone witnessing and knowing that a monster killed them. It was a selfish decision and made everyone unhappy.
Asriel’s is allowing the humans to leave. He misses Chara, but the biggest regret is letting humans he promised to protect fall and die. Sorry for the short answer for him but it’s pretty self explanatory.
Chara’s is pushing their family away. It isn’t one action so it might be cheating, but Chara believes that Toriel does not want to even associate with them because of their actions against humanity, and Asriel left a while ago, and sometimes it feels like it's their fault.
Napstablook? This is pretty hard since they’re just an anxiety bean. If Frisk kills Mettaton though, they’ll feel overwhelming guilt for telling you how to defeat Mettaton because /stars you weren’t meant to kill him they didn’t think you would do that–/
Mettaton? Probably that one time he wore a clashing outfit ngl.
Maddie would probably be falling into the core, although I do really like the idea of her seeing herself shattered across time and space and being like “hell yeah cryptid time” sorry that the cousins aren’t very serious like the rest ;-;
For Toriel, it would be creating the amalgamates, second place to marrying Asgore (/silly)
Speaking of Asgore, Asgore's would mostly be not being a stable enough family for their kids :[
Undyne’s is not making enough time for Alphys and how she kept pushing on, never leaving enough time for Alphys. Alphys would be wait guys just a second what the hell is going on? Why is- well that is the darndest thing I’ve seen. I have no idea what happened but for a bit my cursor just??? was in the middle of the letters??? I know it’s not my computer because the new text working fine now but the older text still is wonky. Idk how to describe it.
Update! When I copy paste it somewhere else it doesn’t do it. Must’ve been a weird format.
Back to Alphys. Probably whatever she did to make Undyne distance herself :(
Gaster’s biggest regret is easily being too busy with work. He could’ve just hired people, he could’ve made it so there were more positions under him doing work, or he could’ve stopped being so /stubborn/ and not overwork himself with things no one was even asking for. But he didn’t, and now his kids are dead.
It hurts when he remembers when he’s rejected the two. Every time he said “I’m too busy, sorry” to them when they asked to do something together. Every time he’s called Asriel to babysit his kids. I will admit that Gaster should’ve been better at managing his work and personal time, he’s a bit too harsh on himself.
Why do you think the player is an in universe entity? In undertale specifically. I feel like it takes away a lot of what Frisk could be if they are only a puppet
it’s both! frisk is both their own person and under the control of the player. I think Frisk has more control than Kris, but still very much influenced by the player.
long post because i don’t want to clog ya’ll’s dashes.
Tumblr media
I think we can all agree on this? you control the soul, same as you do in deltarune.
Tumblr media
See, even choices are chosen with the soul. This is the same.
Now, for the choices themselves, I believe they are the opinions of each kid.
Tumblr media
They can drastically different opinions!
Tumblr media
But I think the biggest and most important viewing of these choices as each kid matters the most here, when you’re at Toriel’s house.
Tumblr media
Chara wants to stay and is inquisitive about the Snails. However, Frisk is persistent about leaving, referring to their original home and asking the same questions three times.
And Frisk does more than just supply potential replies -They can even talk on their own without your input.
Tumblr media
Frisk will ask Gerson: “What if the child is a human” which -at this point, Frisk wouldn’t know about Chara and is actually about themself. (Chara should already know this information, so we know this is Frisk asking.)
Tumblr media
And then in the pacifist ending, you have two choices: “I want to stay with you” and “I have places to go.” Now, either Frisk is unsure of staying with Toriel, or because of the chat with Gerson I believe it’s Frisk who is sure. They want to stay with Toriel -but Chara prefers Frisk go somewhere else. (Each interpretation is valid, who’s to really say!) But here we are! An actual character arc, right here! So Frisk isn’t just walking along the ride but rather reconsidering their choice to leave the Ruins. Toriel even finds it funny.
Tumblr media
So on a quick tangent, i promise this is relevant: the plaque in the first puzzle room recommends you stick to one route and stay on that route -that a middle ground is not an option. Which references the Deltarune prophecy, and also references your actions as the player having to stick one method of either FIGHT/MERCY to get the two major endings. In addition, monsters believed was Chara originally, and now view you to be it.
Asgore in neutral/pacifist: (It’s Chara-Frisk’s hopeful eyes that remind him of the hope for monsters/the prophecy. He believed in both kids.)
Tumblr media
AKA: this is me proving the Deltarune is important to both Chara, Frisk and the Player. How it’s both shown repetitively to matter to your choices and the game’s routes pretty explicitly -or at least as explicit Undertale gets.
Anyway the point of this is to show that both routes are majorly important, and that Your specific choices influence both kids (both literally, as you playing the game and in-universe here) depending on your choices of FIGHT/MERCY.
Going to briefly recover this talking point, sorry to go over it again so soon:
The dog food bag changes depending on your exp. How Chara views the world within the glass half empty/half full depends on if you’ve been killing or not.
If you punch the dummy, depending on your LV, Frisk will feel different about hurting the dummy.
Frisk is only named in Pacifist, while in No Mercy is defined by You, the player, selling Frisk’s soul -aka the culmination of Frisk’s entire being. A name has power, a name is also the culmination of someone’s being in a sense. The two routes are two extremes on the spectrum.
Now, back to Toriel and Frisk at the pacifist ending. Toriel talks to Frisk, naming them and talking about their choices on this. When Toby is very clearly separating the player characters and You the player in both Undertale and VERY explicitly in Deltarune, this matters a hell of a lot. We, the player, don’t have the choice to stay with Toriel forever because Frisk made that decision to move forward -and it’s their choice and their life to live with Toriel or not.
It’s why it’s so important that Flowey emphasizes this if you try to True Reset:
Tumblr media
So, please.Just let them go.
Let Frisk be happy.
Let Frisk live their life.
I think that sums it up. Frisk goes on this journey WITH you, and is not you. It’s still partly their choice -as much as someone who is under control of the Player can choose of course.  And by the end of no mercy, they have zero input if their literal soul is sold or not. And it’s your choice if Frisk gets keep their happy ending, too.
EDIT: this is just more for fun than for the analysis i made above lol.
so like, Frisk acts out their own in cutscenes. I think if Chara’s control is only relevant in No Mercy, because the moment you spare Chara steps back and is unsure of the plan. that you showed kill or be killed in not a rule anymore, and that its possible to get by with sparing. Anyway, Frisk will do things like chase after the annoying dog on their own, play along with the puzzles in snowdin ect.
for more frisk characterization, they’ll have opinions and feelings that chara describes.
* (Playfully crinkling through the leaves fills you with  determination.)
* "Ballet Shoes" - Wpn AT 7 * These used shoes make you  feel incredibly dangerous.
* (Your face reflexively scrunches up.) (referring to Papyrus’ spaghetti)
* Look at these cool toys! * They don't interest you at all.
Tldr;.....frisk is baby :)
Okay, okay, Undertale AU now.
So... I’ve been playing Undertale again... as I do once a year since it came out. It’s tradition. So I was kind of thinking who from the Dsmp whould fit which role... and yeah...
(I also wanted to add that none of the characters who are in a romantic relationship in the game are in this au. As a matter of fact, no romance in general here!)
First of all, we gotta give the role of Frisk to Ranboo, not because he played Undertale, but because of that one time that he told the story of how he flirted with his opponents in volleyball (was it volleyball? Maybe another sport. It’s irrelevant!) and that’s simply a very Frisk thing to do...
Then first monster we encounter is Flowey and... I mean... that’s c!Dream right there. All the focus on “fun” and “power” and seeing life as a “game” and the bloodlust... yeah, no that’s definitely Dream right there.
Then Toriel comes in! Yay! Puffy is Toriel, no doubt. Both of them have a focus on protecting the children and they’re both really kind, but can get hella scary when angry...
Also Niki is Napstablook ... mostly because she basically did end up haunting/being haunted by the Secret City for a while... also pretty sure both like music and are pretty soft spoken
Then we get the skeleton brothers! Well, Sans first... and who would fit Sans better then Wilbur! Both of their characters struggled heavily with mental health related problems and they are both really strong but somehow also weak at the same time... (strongest boss in the game with 1 hp and all that) not to mention that they both have way too many simps...
Also that means Tommy is Papyrus. I do not make the rules here. Hyper younger brother who is endlessly optimistic and soft hearted? Yep! That’s him!
Which, may have you think that Tubbo is Undyne because, you know, best friends, but no. Undyne is, in fact, Philza Minecraft everybody. They don’t call him Angel of Death for nothing, so he definitely gets to be the captain of the royal guard in this one! He’s just a much more laid back but equally deadly Undyne.
Also Techno gets the role of the socially anxious nerdy scientist, because he’s been ibernating under a pile of dogs for a few months now and also because he once got peer pressured into murder much like Alphys did into building a murderous robot... so yeah.
Also, to complete the ghost family now: Jack Manifold gets the role of Mad Dummy, cousin of Napstablook, because they’re both short, bald and full of spite
And none other then Eret gets the role of Mettaton (other cousin of Napstablook) because they’re both absolutely fabulous and because they’d rock the Mettaton EX form...
Moving on,Schlatt is Asgore. He and Puffy are brother and sister. Why? Because they are both sheeps and it would fit... though admittedly Schlatt has had less moral qualms with killing children then Asgore so far, they do both have that in common as well
Which brings us to Tubbo inevitably being Asriel, because sheep guy, but also because, as a character, he has a history of being pushed around by power hungry people with more charisma then him, and also because Asriel in his God of Hyperdeath form has a f*cking rainbow laser cannon and I think that’s a very Tubbo thing to have...
Quackity is Chara. Both are pretty vengful and power-hungry characters who are not afraid of doing some seriously f*cked up shit to get to their goals, but also they both care about those close to them deeply and have a sort of tragedy to their character
Also Awesamdude gets to be Gaster, and no it’s not only because there is as much Awesamdad fan content as there was Dadster despite neither of them ever being confirmed as canon, but because both characters are brilliant inventors who got screwed over by their own creation...
For some other fun bonuses I could think about:
Sapnap as Monster Kid just because of the absurdly chaotic personality
BBH gets to be Muffet, for no particular reason aside from general vibe
Foolish as Burgerpants because they’re both underpaid and extremely stressed
Punz as Grillby because: money and intimidating aura
Purpled as Nice Cream Guy because: money
And this is pretty much all I could think about... I would include others but I’m kind of stomped at the moment...
So here’s some revisited quotes instead (under the cut):
Flowey!Dream: “Howdy! it’s me Dream. Dream the Dreamon!”
Toriel!Puffy: “Did you want to hear about the book I’m reading? It’s called “72 ways to crack an Egg”. How about it?”
Papyrus!Tommy: “Ah yes, Music Disks, a great reference for theoretical battle scenarios and parties! To which I get invited just constantly!”
Papyrus!Tommy: “W-well, that’s not what I expected... but st- still! I believe in you prick! You can definitely do better! Even if you don’t think so! I... promise....”
Sans!Wilbur: “On days like this, kids like you... should be suffering in Limbo!”
Sans!Wilbur: “Just... don’t say I didn’t warn you. Well. I’m going to Punz’s. Tommy, do you want anything?”
Undyne!Phil: “...Forget it. Look mate. Tommy didn't come to his meeting today. Say what you want about him. He's loud, he's bit selfish, he's obsessed with disks... But Tommy has NEVER missed a meeting. (...) But now he's gone. And his brother isn't around, either. ... What did you do to him? What did you DO TO HIM? Tommy, who I have trained every day... Even though I KNOW he's too soft to ever hurt anyone. Tommy who is... was just a child... ... Go ahead. Prepare however you want. But when you step forward... I will KILL you”
Alphys!Techno: “A long time ago, I made a robot named Eret. Originally I built them to be a farmer robot for my potatoes... didn’t turn out quite right there. Anyway, recently I decided to make them more useful. Heh, you know, just some practical adjustments.... and I might have been carried away a bit and added some, um... Anti-human combat features?”
Asgore!Schlatt: “I'd like to ask, 'would you like a protein shake?' But... you know how it is”
Asriel!Tubbo: “I always was a pushover, wasn’t I, Quackity? I know... you’re not actually Quackity are you? Quackity’s been gone for a long time. Um... what... what is your name? Ranboo? That’s... a weird name bossman...”
Chara!Quackity: “Hey man. I am Quackity. Thank you man. Your power brought me back from Limbo. My "human soul"... my "determination"... they were not mine, but YOURS. At first, I was so confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? Why was I brought back to life? ...You. With your “guidance” I realized the purpose of my reincarnation: POWER”
deltarune megapost
I wanted to make a Deltarune post about the lore and the things that aren’t  obvious. And once I do that I wanna focus on why Mettaton is incredibly important to this setting
And also why he poses a problem
Why did Toriel and Asgore get divorced?
Without the setting of Undertale, Asgore and Toriel’s marriage still broke up after they had Asriel. There needs to be a reason though. In UT it was Asgore’s ‘worst of both worlds’ decision regarding killing anybody that fell from the human world, including children. We saw how close they were before this happened. Only something deep and serious caused that rift. In Deltarune, what on earth did Asgore do?
What happened to Dess?
Mentioned a handful of times by Noelle, Dess was her older sister and is mentioned In Undertale.... in that Xbox exclusing casino thing. The way Noelle talks about her, the conspicuous way Noelle gets locked out of her big house - it implies Dess is gone or deceased. Berdly recalls a spelling bee when he and Noelle were younger where she, despite being smarter than him, misspelled ‘December’, allowing him to win.
Tumblr media
In the two-player spelling puzzle, it also spells out ‘December’ as Noelle recalls the past and her silhouette regresses to a child while she does so. Being distracted by her sister’s disappearance, rather than pure shyness, could account for her misspelling her name on stage, and it clearly left a big psychological mark for her to have this visual regression in the Dark World.
However, there’s a graveyard in Hometown with no Dess. I heard another theory that she has been missing for years, because where each character’s personal room is made by Queen to reflect their tastes via their search results, Noelle has a calendar where every day is December 25th. This could imply that Noelle continually searches the internet for ‘December Holiday’, her sister’s name, to see if there are clues to her disappearance, but of course the only result you would get is the date of Christmas.
Who is the Knight?
It’s now implied to be Kris, who has been forcibly removing the player’s influence to act on their own. By all accounts the Knight is the game’s main antagonist. Spade King and Queen both mention the Knight as someone who influenced their position - they brought Spade King to absolute power, and showed Queen that creation of new worlds was possible.
Tumblr media
We’re led to believe that Kris was doing this, because they’ve been acting outside of the player’s control. Eating the entire pie between chapter 1 and 2 might have been a red herring to cover that they also went to the library and used that knife to slash open a dark fountain there.
However. This has issues. How would they even manage to shuffle slowly all the way to the library and get in the computer lab? The Knight is also the one creating the hidden bosses. They talked to Jevil until he realised he was in a game and he lost his mind; they ruined Spamton’s life by elevating him to success and then crushing him. Whatever the Knight is doing seems to be deliberately planned with key players in mind.
Kris opening the fountain at home at the end of ch.2 can be explained in that you just figured out in Cyber World that anyone determined enough can do this, and so, Kris decided to. So a better question might even be...
What does Kris want?
We have no idea. They are capable of removing the SOUL, ‘us’, temporarily, and putting things in motion we cannot influence. But they also keep putting us back in control afterward. This is hinted at right when ch.2 starts, where if you inspect the cage in Kris’s bedroom they threw us into, the description says it’s inescapable. Meaning Kris came back and took us out, willingly.
They allow us to pilot them through the game. Why? Because they cannot live without the SOUL for long for some reason? Because they’re bad at bullet hell? Why did they slash Toriel’s tyres before opening the fountain, making sure nobody could drive away?? Why did they specifically open the door?
You can find out details about Kris through the creepy way you interact with the townsfolk, who think you are Kris. They play the piano at the hospital waiting room - better than you. They used to go to church just to get the special church juice. It’s all normal, relatable things, not like someone who’s trying to plunge the world into darkness. Judging by their search history portrayed in their Queen’s castle room, they really want to see their brother again. However the castle has a room based on Asriel’s search history too, and Kris (not you) closes their eyes and won’t look at it.
What is Ralsei?
His name is an anagram of Asriel. Is he an extension of Asriel? The slightly flirtier dialogue in ch.2 would point to no. Is he an extension of Kris themselves, given the link between Kris’s childhood habit of wearing a headband with red horns on it, to pretend to be a monster like their family?
Ralsei knows exactly where the Dark World in the school is located, and unlike regular Darkners, knows the world is folded up inside the ‘real world’. There’s a certain whiplash to Ralsei telling you to hop out of his reality into yours and go down the hallway to retrieve all the board game items.
How does he jump from one Dark World to another, without assistance? How does he not get petrified like Lancer and Rouxls? Is this a power level thing because he’s a prince or something else? We definitely do not know enough about Ralsei.
Tumblr media
He also says this incredibly suspicious thing after you spare Spamton NEO. Susie was also curious but accepts that maybe it ‘didn’t mean anything’, which is a sure tell that these optional bosses do mean something.
Someone is orchestrating what’s happening, opening fountains, manipulating the rulers, and influencing NPCs to become the optional bosses. Why? I suspect Ralsei for both knowing too much, and pretending something doesn’t matter when it clearly does. Until Asriel actually comes home from college I’m going to suspect he’s involved in this too.
How much does Seam know?
Seam on the other hand knows a lot about what’s going on but is openly withholding information while helping you. He’s nihilistic. He says things like:
One day soon... You too, will begin to realize the futility of your actions. Ha ha ha... At that time, feel free to come back here. I'll make you tea... And we can toast... to the end of the world!
Either this ‘end of the world’ is a reference to The Roaring, where opening too many dark fountains dooms the Dark World and the real one... or, I can’t get out of my head the idea that Deltarune takes place in a fake, or weird reconstruction of Undertale where things don’t match up, and eventually it will have to disappear. After all, powers of determination and creating and manipulating universes are Undertale’s basic bread and butter. How can we look at an Alternate Universe containing the characters we already know and not suspect that? Seam also uses Gaster’s key words, ‘darker, yet darker’, seemingly to clue us in that he’s not off track here.
Why haven’t we seen Papyrus?
This is a bright neon flashing ‘something’s not right’ sign. It’s not like Papyrus’s voice actor was too busy or anything. His absence is noticable and for a reason. Nice of Sans to promise we could meet him despite being aware we’re piloting a child’s body around, though, even if he didn’t follow through.
What locations in town could be used for dark fountains in the next 4 chapters?
If the sequence continues, we have chapter 1 in the school games room, chapter 2 in a computer lab, and chapter 3 in front of Kris’s television, where the aesthetic of each setting influences the world, characters, and enemies in the Dark World created there. Future possibilities include the church, the hospital, sans’s grocery store, Noelle’s house, and the closed bunker.
What the hell’s in the closed bunker
Tumblr media
This one’s too obvious, honestly. I think it’ll open for no reason in chapter 7 and a little white dog will bounce out and steal one of your key items and nothing else happens.
Why does Asgore have these
Tumblr media
Unlike the bunker feeling like a joke teaser, I gotta believe this is foreshadowing something weird. For example, what does opening a dark fountain in here with the seven flowers do? Does it just take you into Undertale?
Each chapter will have a hidden boss with a ‘soul mode’ from Undertale
Chapter 1 let you stay red, but I think each subsequent chapter is going to change your soul mode to one of the seven colours and design the encounter around that. Purple, yellow, green and blue were used in Undertale, leaving the light blue and orange modes yet to be revealed.
How does Spamton emulate Mettaton Neo’s name, body, and incorporate his battle theme, and the ‘Dummy!’ theme, with no actual connection between them ingame?
This is a really fun one that’s explained over in this post here. Swatch is the Dark World creation from the paint program on the library computers, so he’s able to explain that a Lightner made the robot body decaying in the castle basement that way.
Mettaton went to the library and drew his ideal form, Mettaton NEO, in MS Paint, and the Dark World formed that into a puppet body which Spamton was able to hijack temporarily. So by doing that Spamton was able to channel Mettaton’s appearance, attacks, music, and SOUL mode for the fight.
This might mean that the future hidden bosses, each with their own SOUL mode, might be based on the associated character for that mode (Muffet, Undyne, and Sans or Papyrus), and the boss will take on some aspect of them from their world to leech their fight mechanics.
The Problem With Mettaton
We don’t exactly know what Deltarune is about. It’s an alternate universe where the characters from Undertale already live on the surface, have completely normal lives, but diverge from the storyline of Undertale and, crucially, have not lived through the changes Frisk brought to their lives.
Remember how Undertale had a dozen different ending routes depending on who you befriended? The constant reinforcement in Undertale was that your choices mattered. Through Frisk, you chose to bring Alphys closure about her mistakes, you chose to befriend papyrus instead of attacking him, you chose to help Alphys and Undyne realise their feelings for each other and it’s only doing that that leads to the golden ending and escape to the surface.
Deltarune is the opposite, your choices do not matter. The only thing you can do to force the route of the game to change is to force Noelle into a No Mercy run, which is indirect, and also, a total desperation to mess with an otherwise set course. This version of the characters have not been helped by Frisk - Undyne and Alphys are not together, Papyrus has no friends, Asgore cannot get over himself, and they’re clearly the worse for it, but potentially, you COULD still do these things. In fact it’s hinted that you already are.
But there’s Mettaton.
He’s still a ghost and does not leave his house. In Frisk’s world, Gaster deleted himself, promoting Alphys to royal scientist by bluffing with Mettaton, and she then build him his ideal body. In Kris’s world... Alphys is a school teacher. There’s no barrier to break, no reason to experiment on souls, no Flowey mistake, and no body for Mettaton.
It was sad in Ch.1, but now with the Spamton NEO fight in ch.2, it’s unmissable. Mettaton wants that body and he cannot get it. Alphys in this universe is not going to leave her teaching job and suddenly be able to build a robot. Mettaton is just... screwed out of his happy ending and cannot get it.
So what resolution could this have? If it wasn’t for Mettaton I might believe in the vaildity of Deltarune and Hometown. But. How can you doom this character? If Undertale was the only way Mettaton could be befriended, then Undertale is Primary Universe A and Seam is right - the world of Deltarune is doomed as some kind of aberration. It all relies on how this gets explained in the future, but the core mystery of Deltarune is how exactly this universe intersects with Undertale and whether one is an offshoot of the other. How the Dark World links into that is another complication. But even as we get more fun characters and neat stuff in the Dark Worlds, let’s not forget we have absolutely no idea why Undertale’s characters are living here with no mention of underground or why there are no other humans beside Kris.
UT character wakes up in the middle of the night because he head weird noises in the house. They goes in the living-room and finds a man standing there, their TV in his hands, ready to cross an opened window with it. What does they do do?
The first part of the ask is here, with the skeletons.
Undertale Toriel - "I don't think so young man." She grabs his wrist and leads him gently but firmly on the couch. She will lecture him to death. The man won't even look her in the eyes because he feels so ashamed (and he's scared she might call the cops). But once Toriel is done, she makes him promise to never doing something like that again and lets him leave. The guy can't believe his luck.
Undertale Asgore - In 10 seconds, there's 50 royal guards holding him on the ground. I mean, how stupid are you to break inside the house of the King of Monsters? There's cameras everywhere! You will have a nice night facing Undyne screaming at you. You absolute idiot.
Undertale Undyne - One second, Undyne is in front of you, the second later, she throws you so hard you're crossing the wall of the living-room. Undyne alone is already dangerous, but Alphys is here too, and she won't risk her life. If you're threatening her, she's killing you in a blink of an eye. She's not joking. If the man surrenders, she's bringing him to the police station herself to question him aggressively. Maybe don't break in the house of the head of the royal guard.
Undertale Alphys - She squeaks in shock and screams her girlfriend name with panic. You grabs her arm to make her shut up. BIG. MISTAKE. Undyne jumps on your back, and slams your head in the wall, knocking you out. Welp, you're going to the hospital. DON'T THREAT THE HEAD OF THE ROYAL GUARD'S GIRLFRIEND.
Undertale Frisk - They shrugs and takes advantage of the fact the man is shocked to casually carry the TV to its place. They then waves at the guy pacifically. The man waves back. Wait... What? The man is so confused he leaves to have an identity crisis in the nearest parc. Frisk just closes the window. What an eventful night.
Undertale Chara - "Greetings." Chara said, eyes entirely black and leaking creepily. The man screams in fear, throws the TV at them and falls of the window trying to flee the house. They fell on the car in a loud crash. Chara called the cops and said there's a man with multiple fractures waiting in the alley. The man is confused. He's hurt, sure, but he doesn't have any fracture? Then Chara takes out a crowbar from their inventory and walks to the man with a creepy smile =)
Undertale Mettaton - He switches on the lights dramatically and gasps. "Oh boy! Look at that! This TV is a bomb!" The man just said "wait... what?" before the wall is blown away. Mettaton claps his hands, happy. "You caught that on camera Blooky? That was amazing!"
Undertale Gaster - Gaster doesn't know what to do. So, uh, slowly, he takes an egg out of his goop and gives it to the man. The man takes the egg, confused. Now you are both looking at each other blankly. Uh... What now?
Undertale Grillby - Uh, you know Grillby is a war veteran, right? The man tries to run to him, Grillby makes him fly and pins him on the floor with ease. Still holding his arm, he sits on his back and calls the police. He will patiently waits for Undyne to come while the man is crying like a baby because it hurts. Grillby is enjoying that way too much.
Undertale Muffet - Suddenly, a lot of spiders climbs down the window. The man crushes one of them, laughing at their stupid try to stop him. He then feels a gentle CRUSHING hand on his shoulder and meets with a very pissed off Muffet. The man can only screams, no one will ever hear you. You're going to have a nice meeting with her pet. Have fun.
Undertale Burgerpants - "Come on, man, that's the only thing that cheering my day, you can't do that!" The man laughs at his face. Burgerpants is tied on a chair and he can't do nothing to stop the guy. That's his fate. He will even be fired the next day by Mettaton because he's late. He doesn't even know why he's still trying.
Undertale Flowey - FINALLY. He can FINALLY hurt someone with a good reason. He's throwing pellets at the man until his HP reaches 1 HP. He's laughing maniacally the all time. The much fun he had since he decided to go to the Surface with Frisk. But then the noise wakes Toriel, who then lectures the both of them because killing and stealing are bad. Flowey is not happy.
Undertale Gerson - "What a brave little guy, stealing little old man like me. Want to see what little old me can do?" He then shows him his cane and beats the hell out of him. The man is begging for mercy, but Gerson is having fun, too bad. When Undyne came, she cheered him as he kept hitting the guy on the back.
Note
I am awaiting the inevitable shock and existentialism Fell will feel when he realises that Frisk is no longer in stripes. Patiently. Cheerfully. >:D
okay so imagine. imagine ur fell. imagine with me. let's stand in his shoes.
You are Papyrus. You are also known as Fell.
Your childhood was rough and isolating. You were alone often, and when you did see other people it was overshadowed by resentment or just a violent experience overall. You killed someone before you could reasonably be called an adult, and your brother, whose visits were already few and far between, nearly vanished from your life. You didn't know where he went, but you can only assume he had some other life where he pretended you'd never even existed, and he'd left you to dust alone. The only sign that he still remembered you at all was the food in the pantry, and you started wondering if maybe he wouldn't always be there to bring it. Then one day he came home half dead, and suddenly you're the one putting food in the pantry, having to navigate a world you've only seen glimpses of. Things are rocky. You know intellectually that your family dynamic is fairly gentle, and you could consider yourself lucky...but you remember when he loved you. And he doesn't act the same anymore. You think that maybe he loved you as well as he was able, but once he realized what you are he couldn't care for you anymore. Maybe there is something so terrible in you, so cold and ruthless, that even your gentle, patient older brother couldn't stand to be around you. Maybe you did this to him.
No, you decide. You know better. Perhaps this is partially because of you, but it is also because of the things Sans can see that no one else can--a tally of pain inflicted by every person he meets. You watch him come back to life just for something to break inside of him, seeing all of those numbers tick up. Something in him drives him and he mutters that every single monster deserves to die. But that gentler Sans is still there, staying his hand. He never could stand to hurt anyone. Neither could you, once.
You should probably take this as an indication that things only ever get worse and you will never have anything better. You do not. You're going to change this world. Some small corner of it will be safe, and maybe then Sans will find it in himself to forgive you--for what, you don't know. For existing, or for being a monster, or some sin of your personality. You tell yourself that you'll be satisfied even if Sans never loves you like he used to again, as long as he's not in pain anymore. He's dying. You need to save him. You don't have the luxury of being a softer person.
A softer person comes along.
With a human soul, you could break the Barrier. You could give it to Sans and let him leave this place. You could surrender it to Asgore and the reward would see you and your brother safe for a long time, maybe even safe enough to go far away on the Surface and never see another monster again. There are people you would miss, but it would be worth it to rest in safety.
The time comes to kill them.
They are a child.
You don't ask Sans whether he has even bothered trying to kill them--their budding adoration tells you that he hasn't. They whisper to you that he offered them mercy. You try not to be glad for that stupid mistake. Still, there are more important things--Sans is likely to hate you for killing a defenseless child, but Sans has hated you for greater and lesser crimes, and this is for him. This is for both of you; your ticket out. This is a golden chance. You just have to kill them.
They are a very flattering child. Sans has never cared to notice your fearsome armor or malignant traps. They are a creature of superior taste.
You have to kill them. Things will be so much better if you just kill them.
Your attacks become more dramatic. You switch out the swift and lethal attacks for the showier, cooler attacks. The human is impressed. You think that they are having fun--to your surprise, you find that you are, too. You regret that you have to kill them.
They are surprisingly difficult to kill. It reminds you of practicing your bone attacks when you were a child, waiting for Sans to finally come home so you could show him, waiting for him to be so proud of your progress that he would stay with you this time. You find that it's more fun with a partner. You bring out some sequences that you've discarded for being all flash and no substance. The human loves them.
You don't want to lose this, you realize. You don't want them to die.
You find that you are sorry for hurting them. They have seemed fearless, but they have sustained great deals of damage to their tiny HP count. You can't see the numbers like your brother can, but it can't be greater than 40 total. You have harmed them.
This tiny, innocent creature...you have harmed them. You did not have to. They were not forcing you to fight. But you harmed them.
You apologize. The human seems surprised, but pleased. They offer you a big grin and instant forgiveness, because they are a child. Living in your world, this is likely the best anyone has treated them.
Not anymore.
You bring them home. Sans is there, watching the doorway for your return with hopeless eyes. Perhaps he thinks you will not notice how they brighten and his whole face softens when he sees your LOVE, unchanged, and the child, alive. The child does not seem to recognize the difference, but greets him like a dear friend. He fakes ambivalence and disappears to one of his sentry stations.
You have a child, now.
This is a Concern.
You were hardly a child, yourself--how can you possibly provide the things that a child may need? Most especially a human child, who may need all sorts of things that you have no way of knowing about. You have seen them eat, so you can assume that they need to be fed; they are wearing clothes, so you can assume they need to be clothed; but what of entertainment? Affection? Training? What sorts of guidance will they need?
You have doubts. One of the only things that you are confident of is that the child does not need doubts. You must choose to be bold. If you are denying the very murderous nature of monsters by taking in a child, then so be it: you will not do this in half measures.
You set about creating the optimal environment for child-rearing. Plenty of doors and windows that lock only from the inside. Enrichment in the form of attack training. Weapons for self-protection. You make it clear that you will always have time for them, no matter what else may be at hand. You will interrupt even the most important of work days to tend to their childhood accidents--a stray stab wound here, or a timely rescue there. You prepare to put the changing of your world on hold for as long as it takes to see this human into adulthood.
You wonder what kind of adult they will be. Bold and strong like you, or wry and clever like Sans, or as passionate as Undyne--or none of the above, perhaps. If you raise them right, maybe they will be different from all of you. Maybe they will stay small and loving forever.
You do not look forward to seeing their heart break, seeing their first kill, seeing them turn to LOVE. These rites of passage seem suddenly gruesome. But you want to be there, all the same--you want to take them home afterwards, and see them find their feet again every time they stagger. There is a whole tiny person in your home, and you can ensure that they are never alone.
Then, the world changes.
Perhaps you will not need to guard them so fiercely. Perhaps you will be able to devote your efforts instead into becoming something softer and kinder. You will finally find the words to say when they are lonely, or frightened, or when you have been too harsh and their eyes fill with tears. You will no longer be too harsh. You cannot ever be human, but perhaps you can raise one nearly as well as another human would. For the first time, you feel as if there is love in you--in all of monsterkind.
Then, the child dies.
Sans said he would bring them home. He left to go retrieve them. And they disappear forever. His guilt is plain to see, but you allow him to fool you--he says that he has killed a child, and you sympathize with him. You provide comfort. You do not realize.
Several people take you aside, one by one by one, to gently break the news to you. Sans encountered the human, they say. The two of them had a disagreement. Sans took them somewhere and he came back alone. The evidence is clear--you have Sans's confession, even.
He would not have snuffed that tiny life out. He loves them. You have seen him come back to life by inches, resurrecting the brother you thought you'd lost. This cannot be.
You wait for Sans to tell you that.
He does not.
Your brother has stolen your child's life. Your tiny sibling, who you have sworn to protect--who each of you have promised to raise gently, to treat well, to absolutely spoil with safety and affection, as much as you can. You finally had a warmth in your heart and in your home, and so did Sans. But he smothered it. He killed them. You cannot believe it. But, you think of the creeping insanity that you thought had been defeated in him, and you don't know. You don't know what he is capable of anymore.
Sans used to stand for mercy--if not for its own sake, then because killing is not a virtue. He was the only person who believed LOVE was not a good thing, and now, he is the only person who is not changing his mind.
You're furious. You're betrayed. You're heartbroken. You want to confront Sans. You never want to see him again. You want your sibling back, to protect them better this time, to do things differently so that somehow it goes right. Sans would not do this. You must have caused it somehow. You identify your failings after a week: you were too slow.
The world was changing, but not fast enough. Sans took his own action first.
You leave. You intend to come back, when you have changed the world into something Sans can stand, when your fury has calmed--you leave. That is what matters.
You do come back, once. Sans's pantry is empty. You fill it. You do not think that there are any grocers willing to do business with him, not with the worries about food shortages. Not with what everyone knows he's done.
In his basement, you discover something odd: hope. A skeleton with your face who claims to have seen your sibling, calls them "Frisk." They never shared their name with you. You had hoped they would, in time; but they did not, and now they cannot.
But perhaps they will.
Perhaps you have not lost that child, that place of warmth in your home and heart. If grief is love with no one to direct it to, then you no longer need to grieve. They are alive. Your brother has done an awful thing, but not what you feared. You can get them back. You will not miss the landmarks that were not to be. You would give anything to scoop them up and hold them again.
You find them. Finally, you find them again--or they find you. They approach you, and you approach them, and at first you are puzzled by this human: a grown, adult human, standing half in front of a skeleton who is almost your brother but not entirely, and watching you with caution that turns to unbridled delight when they realize who it is they have been brought to meet. Your phone begins ringing. You ignore it. The skeleton who is not your brother is watching your stats with a sort of horror. You ignore that, as well. This human looks at you with warmth and trust that you have only seen from...
It's your sibling. It's your sibling, and you have them back, they are just in front of you, and you have missed them. You have missed so much of their life. The child you were raising is gone, with no hint of them in this human's scarred HP and protective stance. They do not have your boldness or Sans's wit or Undyne's passion or even the sheltered softness you had secretly hoped they would keep...you weren't there to shelter them.
You have the human back, but not the child. They don't need you anymore.
In this moment, you have the realization: searching for them, you have met people who are gentler than you, cleverer, kinder, less awkward and violent...all of them who counted your sibling as part of their own family. They have had such a life beyond you that you cannot grasp the whole of it. With so many better selves, so many better brothers...
They don't need you any more. Why on earth would they want you?
Undertale with Toshinori
Tumblr media
Warnings:
Established relationship, Toshinori x gn! reader
A little fluff
MAJOR spoilers for Undertale. Please just don’t read this if you haven’t experienced this masterpiece already. I promise it’s worth it.
Also cringe warning uwu
Toshi isn’t a huge fan of video games. He never played them when he was younger, so he doesn’t really *get* it, plus they often don’t interest him. He’s tired of seeing violence, fighting, drama, and anything like it. Now, he just wants to relax.
You know this, so you made sure not to pressure him too much to play with you. (He did quite like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley though)
However, one lazy Sunday afternoon, Toshinori surprised you.
“Hey, um, do you wanna play something?” He asked, still in his pajamas, which consist of an entirely too large to shirt with some flannel pants. You nodded, queuing up the island you both shared.
“No, I mean, do you have any good story games?” He inquired. He sat next to you on the couch as he took a sip out of his coffee mug. You immediately had an idea of one but you weren’t sure if he’d actually like it.
“Well, I have one game, but if you don’t like it you don’t have to finish it,” you reply, clicking through your library.
The 8 bit theme rang out through the living room, filling you with nostalgia and him with a little wonder. His eyes scanned the opening scene, taking it all in.
UNDERTALE.
You taught him the basic controls, but made sure to keep your mouth shut to avoid spoiling or tainting his first experience through the game. He typed in the character name simply as Toshi. You almost thought about telling him to use the name Chara, the most canonical one, but thought better of it. Your eyes followed his movements across the screen as he inspected items, followed Toriel, and clicked through dialogue.
Soon, the first fight happened.
“What do I do?” He asked innocently. The froggit bounced around the screen, waiting for your action.
“Well, you can kill it, run from it, or you can try getting it to calm down and not want to fight you,” you explained. It was so hard not to spoil anything, and your heart was basically bursting as you waited to see what he’d do.
He ran away, and you let out a small breath you didn’t realize you were holding.
Toriel praised him, walking him along the rest of the map and into her home. He looked in the mirror, the text announcing, ‘It’s you!”
A few minutes later, Toriel was on the fight screen.
Toshi had taken quite the liking to the goat lady already. He ran from her fight, too, going back upstairs and into the character’s room.
He looked at you, silently, for guidance.
You said nothing.
Of course, he knew he couldn’t stay in his room forever, and eventually made his way back downstairs. Toriel was still waiting.
He sighed deeply.
“Do I have to leave? I really don’t think she seems all that bad...” he muttered, partly to himself, but also to you.
“Well, you have to fight her, sunshine,” you placed a hand on his thigh. You made sure not to say ‘you have to kill her’.
He started the fight again, not hitting her. You didn’t guide him, not sure if he was missing on purpose or just didn’t know how to play the game.
Then, he began choosing the action button, trying to bargain with his goat mom.
Soon enough, she broke down, letting us go.
“Don’t let him... ASGORE... kill you...” she warned before Frisk, (who Yagi named Toshi) was on his own.
You watched as he refused to kill anything, not even one character. You said nothing, but were admittedly surprised. The first time you played Undertale, you accidentally played the Neutral route via killing some NPCs. You didn’t really know any better. You didn’t realize what kind of game Undertale ended up being, and how much it’d mean to you.
He returned playing, and you watched intently. He’d ask for help every once in awhile, still not totally being used to video game mechanics as a whole. You didn’t mind showing him what to do, as long as he was having fun, and he was. He made sure to read and inspect every single little detail to make sure he knew the story in and out. This ended up making the gameplay last quite a bit longer than it would have otherwise, but you were grateful that he was so interested in something you also enjoy.
The fight with Undyne and Mettaton went by, Toshi sparing both of them while he cursed under his breath. The fights were getting harder and harder. At one point, he handed you the controller so you could ‘fight’ Mettaton for him.
Finally, Frisk walked into Asgore’s castle. As you walked, the story of the kingdom, the conflict between humans and monsters, and most importantly, the story of Asriel, was told. You watched your boyfriend more intently than you did the screen at this point. He had his jaw clenched, obviously moved by the tragic story.
Now, it was time to finally fight Asgore. The evil monster that slaughtered children, stealing their souls. The strongest monster of the Underground. The enemy. Toshi was hunched forward, ready to fight, and even more prepared to win. He had a concentrated expression, his large hands enveloping the controller.
“Would you like a cup of tea?” The horrific monster asked. Toshinori was almost taken aback by this one little line of dialogue, but was still ready to go.
The fight began and ended, much like the others, but this time, Toriel was back. But so was someone else.
Before Toshi could celebrate, Flowey took over the game, trapping all the beloved characters and newly found virtual friends. Toshi threw his hands up in the air.
“That’s not it!?” He exasperatedly yelled.
You shook your head, your hand gently resting on his arm.
You knew what was coming soon.
A good while later, Toshi was walking along the map of the game one last time, to say goodbye to everyone he met along this journey.
Finally, he was back where he started. The yellow flower patch was no longer a lonely one, a small goat child tending to them.
You watched the text roll across the screen.
“Well, that’s all. See you later, Toshi,” the goat boy said.
You sighed, long and heavy. That was more intense than you remembered. You looked over at Toshinori, who was sitting there, tears silently streaming down his face.
“Oh, Toshi, are you okay?” You asked softly, putting your arms around him gently. He broke at your question, letting his sobs flow through his frail body. You felt for him, hard. His head was buried in your shoulder, salty tears wetting your shirt.
You didn’t say anything, letting him process everything he just played through. He calmed down, sitting himself up.
“Well, what did you think?” You asked, a playful tone in your voice.
“It was great!” He chuckled.
“Who was your favorite? I personally love Toriel and Alphys,” you smile, trying to start a little conversation.
He looked back at the screen, a little smile pulling at his lips. “Asgore. He... reminds me of myself in some ways,” he whispered, his eyes filling back up with tears.
Your heart dropped. You definitely could see it. You rubbed his back, the opening screen replaying as it did just a few short hours before.
You turned off the TV, the blank screen reflecting you and Toshi’s reflection back.
Despite everything, it was still you.
Our Special Day
Note: So sorry this fic is super late but it’s here now! Anyway, onto the fic!
Handplates belongs to: @zarla-s
Summary: It’s a special day for everyone indeed.
     Sam paced back and forth in their room, heart thumping loudly and palms feeling clammy. Undyne had been trying to calm them down for the past few minutes but nothing seemed to be working. The albino was just too frazzled to be calmed at the moment. The fish monster could hardly blame them for feeling like this today though.
     It had only been about two weeks since all the monsters were freed from the Underground. Everyone had pretty much settled in and adjusted quite nicely to life on the Surface. Yes, there was the occasional prejudice from other humans, the newly appointed Ambassador of Monsters was always there to put a stop to it.
     Sam had admittedly been a bit hesitant to take on such a huge responsibility. The support from their friends was enough to convince them to take Asgore’s offer. The tiny albino could do without the boring meetings though. Gaster actually had to accompany them to make sure they didn’t fall asleep or appear bored.
     At least the nice secretary gave them free lollipops every time they stopped by.
     How was Sam themselves adjusting? Well, the first thing they did was visit the cemetery. David’s grave was well-kept as usual. Sam apologized in their one sided conversation with their brother for not visiting for a while. The albino smiled as they promised to tell David all about their time in the Underground. They left soon afterwards despite not wanting to.
     Since they weren’t exactly comfortable returning to their old place of work considering well, everything, Gaster suggested to Sam that they work as a freelance programmer. That didn’t seem like a bad idea so the albino quickly got to work and in just a few short days, had established quite the reputation as a programmer for themselves. Sam didn’t exactly know what Gaster did but they figured it probably had something to do with science. They just hoped it was something that made him happy.
    “*You ask Undyne if you look alright...or maybe you need to fix something...”
    “Sam, you’ve asked this literally five minutes ago. Stop your worrying. You look amazing!”
     Undyne gently placed her hands on Sam’s shoulders, turning them so they could see themselves in the room’s large mirror. The fish monster then picked up a nearby hairbrush off the table and used it smooth down a few stray hairs.
    “Everything is going to be fine, Sam. Everyone will make sure of it.”
     The albino took a deep breath and smiled to themselves. Undyne was right. All their friends had promised to make sure today went off without a hitch. All Sam had to do was to not stress themselves out and try to have fun.
     Just then, Asgore walked into the room just as Undyne was finishing up with Sam’s hair.
    “Howdy, you two. Sorry for the intrusion but it’s almost time to begin.”
    “*Oh, it’s alright! You tell Undyne to go on ahead.”
     The fish monster nodded before quickly leaving the room. After standing up and fluffing down their dress, Sam walked over to Flowey who had been waiting on a nearby table.
    “*You ask Flowey if he’s ready to go.”
    "𝚄𝚑, 𝚜𝚞𝚛𝚎…𝙱𝚞𝚝 𝙸 𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚋𝚘𝚠𝚝𝚒𝚎 𝚕𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚜 𝚛𝚒𝚍𝚒𝚌𝚞𝚕𝚎𝚜."
     Sam just giggled as they picked up the plant and headed out the door with Asgore. The albino’s heartbeat quickened with each step they took. They knew that they shouldn’t be nervous but the tiny albino just couldn’t help it. When the three finally came up the door, Asgore turned to Sam and smiled warmly.
    “When the music starts up, that’s your cue to come on in, Sam.”
     Asgore started to walk in, but then stopped and turned back to face the tiny albino.
    “I’m happy that I get to celebrate this special occasion with Gaster and you, dear Sam.”
     The tall goat walked in before they could react. He seemed... sad? No, he couldn’t have been sad. The ex-king of monsters was smiling. A smile meant happiness and joy. It didn’t mean sorrow and despair. Maybe Asgore was just feeling nervous as Sam was feeling? Or, maybe he was actually sad...sad because he was reminded of what he once had with Toriel.
     Sam had no more time to think about that though because soon enough, that familiar piece of music sounded from behind the large wooden doors. Pushing open the doors, Sam let their eyes wander around the room a bit. It was quite big with a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Everything was very clean and organized. The albino didn’t exactly know how they missed this place during their stay in the Underground but they just had to take Alphys’ word about how nice this place was.
    ‘*You soon focus every ounce of your attention to Gaster...’
     The tall skeleton had been looking nervous before turning to look at Sam as they made their way down the aisle. Gaster couldn’t help the smile that began to spread across his face. He watched how Sam held up Flowey to their chest like one would a bouquet of beautiful flowers. The way their long white dress flowed gracefully with each step they took was both endearing and breathtaking. Gaster couldn’t help the blush that was no doubt appearing on his face. Sam wasn’t only a ray of hope for monsters, but they were also his personal ray of sunshine.
     Soon, in front of all their friends, Sam and Gaster were saying:
    “*You do!”
    “I...I do.”
~~~~~~
    “*You tell Gaster you don’t know who was crying more...Alphys or Asgore.”
    “He always was emotional during these types of events...”
     The albino giggled as they shifted themselves around to face the starry night sky. They were still dressed up in their wedding gown, having been too eager to change into more casual clothes. Gaster was the same, still wearing his nice black suit. Probably not the best attire to sit in the soft grass just outside the exit of the Underground.
     The two sat in silence for a while until the skeleton decided to break it.
    “It’s...still hard to believe we were actually able to get married, Sam.”
     Sam didn’t respond. Instead they just sighed happily as they leaned against their husband, not wanting this particular moment to ever end.
    ‘*You feel like everyday can only get better from here...’
Note: A happy ending for everyone! Again, so sorry for this being incredibly late! I was not only dealing with homework, but also writer’s block. But now it’s finished and sorry if it’s not as long as you all were probably hoping.
Well enough of that, I’d just like to say a few words. Mostly just to thank everyone who has followed the development of this blog. Thank you to everyone who has sent nice messages and asks. Thank you for lifting my spirits whenever I was having a bad day. This blog was originally just supposed to be an escape from the hardships I was facing, but it soon turned into a blog to make people happy. It warmed my heart to see everyone fall in love with my OC, Sam.
In case you’re all wondering about the future of this blog, I’ll probably just be taking requests now that the main storyline is over. This can be anything from one-shots to AU ideas or you can even submit incorrect quotes if you’re interested, just nothing NSFW of course. Sam will also be taking all of your questions over at their ask blog again. Meanwhile, I’ll be working on that masterpost an Anon requested that I do so look forward to that in the future
Thank you everyone. Hope you all enjoyed reading. I love all of you so much. :)

3, 12, 40? With the shoregrillster trio? In any combination you like
3. A breathy demand: “Kiss me” - and what the other person does to respond.
12. Sneaking away to a hidden corner to share a secretive kiss.
40. A gentle kiss that quickly descends into passion, with little regard for what’s going on around them.
This is going under a cut because one, it got hecking long and two, it got mildly SPICY. Nothing explicit but you have been warned
Parties are....they’re supposed to be at least a little fun, right?
When it was announced that Gaster’s work on a new environment friendly, cost effective and all around sick public transportation design had been accepted by the city council, there was also the call to a party to celebrate the occasion. You’re beyond happy for Gaster, for his accomplishments in finally getting more steps taken to integrate monster magic into human technology on a world changing scale.
But holy crap, this party is boring.
Calling it a party at all is being generous. It’s just an excuse for people of ‘classier’ society to act like they’re taking part in something grand and to show off how fancy they are by sipping at cocktails and standing around pretending to care about what the other party goers bring up for conversation. But it is an important part of getting full funding for the project, as well as schmoozing up to anyone who might open up lanes for future development, so here you all are.
The majority people here are humans that you don’t recognize in the slightest aside from the occasional ‘oh it’s...that guy. Yeah’. There are a handful of monsters from the science and tech division all involved on the project. They’re mostly keeping to themselves, nervously socializing as little as possible.
Sans was here at some point. You don’t doubt he’s snuck off to find a corner to snooze in, if he hasn’t left the party outright at this point.
Lucky jerk.
However, you will admit, there is an upside to this whole thing. Gaster is not usually one to dress up. At least, not in any level aside from his beloved lab coat that you highly doubt contains more than a scrap of the original material thanks to all the repairs that have had to be done on it.
He’s been talked out of the lab coat and is instead wearing an utterly dashing three piece suit of the deepest purple you’ve ever seen captured by fabric. From the distance between where you’re leaning up against a pillar to rest your feet and him being caught in a circle of engineering heads pelting him with questions, the suit looks black until he shifts and the light catches the lines of shimmering purple.
You sip appreciatively at your drink, eyes taking in the way the suit fits his skeletal frame. Perhaps the night won’t be so boring after all.
“He cleans up really good,” you muse as the air to your left grows warm. “Almost makes the feral cat fuss he made about getting in the suit worth it.”
“Says you; I had to actually drag him out of bed while you were in the shower. He actually tore holes in my sheets.” Grillby leans against the wall as well, offering you a plate of ‘fancy people food’ he snagged from one of the wandering waiters.
Ah, you were wondering about those. You take a piece, not exactly sure what the heck it even is and pop it in your mouth. Your expression twists. “How is it that rich people food always looks so good but tastes like sour air and dried regret?”
“I’m still working that out myself.” Grillby finishes off the plate and sighs.
You shift your gaze to Grillby. He too is dressed to the nines, with a deep red button up, a black and gold trimmed waistcoat and matching tie. He always looks good of course but damn if his snazzy outfit isn’t making the worst kind of butterflies flutter in your belly.
“I’ll make us something actually substantial when we get home,” he continues, oblivious to your less than pure gaze skimming over him.
“If Gaster hasn’t imploded by that point.” The poor guy is fidgeting like crazy. It’s difficult for him to be around so much noise and fuss, this you know from experience.
Grillby looks at you, gaze sharpening a bit as his eyes trail over your outfit. Said outfit for the night is a deep blue one piece, sleeveless suit dress. The smooth material hugs your frame just enough to offer a hint at the form underneath and is blanketed by a sheer capelet that rests over your bare shoulders and gathers together at your waist with a thick belt.
The intensity of Grillby’s staring sends a delightful thrill of heat up your spine. “I guess I clean up alright too,” you murmur, brows lifting teasingly.
“’Nice’ is not quite the word I’d use.” He’s moved closer, plate of food discarded and hand rising to rest rather low on your hip. “Ravishing. Tempting. Something like that.” His head has tilted down, eyes fixated on your mouth.
You pull a goofy face at him, because if you don’t, you’re pretty sure your face will burst under the growing blush in your cheeks. “That’s me, the ultimate temptation.”
He’s not deterred by your teasing. He merely glances around just enough to see if anyone is currently looking your way before his grip tightens and he presses a warm kiss to your lips. It’s soft and gentle and a smile easily comes to your face as you kiss him chastely back.
Then-oh his mouth opens, and you quite forget about your boredom and the fact that your feet are killing you and the taste of bland rich people food on your tongue because Grillby tastes so much better. Your hands rise, gripping the edges of his waistcoat, pulling him closer to you and he makes a sound deep in his throat that urges your mouth to move faster, go deeper-
A laugh rings out, clear and far too close and Grillby jumps like he’s been shocked, pulling away with an eruption of blue over his face. Both of you guiltily look over towards the noise but it would seem that it was just someone laughing at a point in conversation. No one is staring in aghast mortification at the social faux pas.
A little breathlessly, you giggle. “Wow, how scandalous of you. We’re out in the open and everything.”
He shoots you a heated look. “You kissed me back.”
“You used tongue, you cheater!”
He flushes a brighter blue, but you can’t help but notice that his hand remains firmly on your hip. This isn’t fair, stupid party, stupid crowd….
An idea sparks in your heat addled brain. A dumb idea but, well, you’re rather past the point of caring too much.
You press up closer to him again, eyes darting out over the crowd for the briefest moment. You dance your fingers up his buttons. “Why don’t we go rescue Gaster? I think we could all use a... social recharging?”
He blinks and the soft “oh” that escapes him when he realizes what you’re getting at gets your ears burning.
But he doesn’t say no. In fact, he simply nods quickly, steps back and offers you his arm, which you gratefully take. Heels suck and your ankles are not pleased with you. “You want to take the lead?”
“Absolutely,” you say with only a touch of a manic grin actually reaching your face.
Gaster looks on the verge of whipping into a ranting frenzy or throwing an actual punch as the two of you approach. The human speaking to him is going on about engine semantics or something. Incorrectly, going by the promise of violence glinting in Gaster’s eye sockets.
“Pardon me,” you say with syrupy sweetness, cutting off the man speaking. All heads turn, faces going blank with subdued irritation at the interruption. “I need to borrow the good doctor for a bit. Doctor Gaster?”
Gaster inclines his head. “Excuse me,” he says with the sincerity of a child apologizing for stealing cookies. You swap to hold onto his arm and let him sweep you out of the ballroom, Grillby following on your heels.
“You are an angel,” Gaster groans. “Those imbeciles were trying to convince me to add in ‘a profitable angle’ to the design. Pigs.”
“I think that’s an insult to pigs.” You carefully look him over. “Are you holding up okay?”
He sighs heavily, coming to a stop out in the hallway where the only person present is a coat attendant lost in a book.
“Objectively, yes” he says, rubbing at his skull. “I just wish Asgore did not insist on me staying and playing nice with these people.”
“Sounds like it’s just been a big pain.”
Grillby tugs on your arm.
“It is!” Gaster proclaims, sweeping his free arm back towards the ballroom. “Vultures! Well…most of them are, there was actually a rather fascinating young man who had his facts mixed up but the core of his idea was not a bad one—”
Grillby tugs harder.
“Mmhm,” you hum, raising your eyebrows at Grillby. Just because you can, you let your tongue dart out over your lips for the briefest of moments.
He looks as frustrated as a fire could possibly be. Were the coat attendant not glancing up over the edge of his book, he probably would have scooped the two of you up and gone to work right there.
“Uh, is something wrong?” Gaster, finally noticing the agitated flick of Grillby’s flames, looks between the two of you.
“Well, we’re both kind of…hmm, how to be nice about it…bored? Sorry,” you pat Gaster’s arm. “I know it’s your special night.”
“That’s fine, I’m quite bored myself,” Gaster says dryly.
“Oh perfect!” you chirp brightly. You glance to Grillby and smile slyly. “We had a thought about how to recharge our batteries. As it were.”
Not for the first time, Gaster displays an impressive ability to give the look of raising eyebrows without any actual, yanno, eyebrows. “Do tell?”
“It’s not really a tell so much as a show-oop!”
Grillby’s run out of patience. His hands land on both yours and Gaster’s backs, urging you forward and down the hall. The coat attendant is very pointedly Not Looking as you pass by. Grillby must have done recon or something when you first got here because he seems to know exactly where he’s heading. He takes you down a small flight of stairs and round a corner that leads to a small room that’s empty save for a few boxes stacked against one wall and some unused furniture.
And just your luck, it’s unlocked.
Going by the rising purple on Gaster’s face, he’s caught on to what exactly your ‘recharging’ idea is. “Uh-um, yes I—”
“I didn’t have much of a chance to say it earlier.” Your arm slips smoothly away from his and you turn to him. You have to lift up a bit on your tip toes and pull him down to you to press a kiss against his cheekbone. “You look very handsome tonight. And we are your dates to this thing, and yet we haven’t hardly had a chance to even talk to you.”
Gaster’s blush is now bright enough to nearly compete with Grillby’s flames.
Speaking of Grillby-
He’s moved in behind you, hands dropping to your waist as his mouth descends down on your neck. The heat of his body and fire presses against your back and you have to take a moment to catch your breath.
Gaster’s eye lights have gone wide and bright, flickering with a nervous sort of energy as his gaze darts between you and Grillby. He swallows, though he really has no need for it. “I…this isn’t really the best…what if someone sees…?”
“Then you better move fast,” you murmur. Tugging on his tie, you pull his face down closer. “Kiss me,” you demand breathlessly. “Please?”
There’s a moment where his eye lights shift in such a way it almost looks like they’ve taken on the shape of stars and then Gaster’s hands lift to your face, nearly bonking your nose with his teeth with the speed at which he kisses you. Kissing a skeleton is difficult sometimes, given his lack of lips.
But you’ve had plenty of practice.
One of your hands shifts to pull Gaster closer to you while the other desperately scrambles behind to find purchase on Grillby. His own hands are quite busy, one running gentle circles on your hip and the other moving up, closer to where your chest is pressed up against Gaster’s ribs. His fangs scrape deliciously at your skin, nipping lightly in a way that makes you squirm with a mixture of ticklishness and building heat.
Your hand finds Gaster’s spine, prominent even through his suit and you grab on just below where his ribs end. He jolts at the contact, a breathless curse falling out in a rush of air. Grillby takes the chance to pull away from your neck and captures Gaster’s attention with a heated kiss.
Now quite solidly squished between the two, a soft and breathless noise escapes you as you drink in the building pressure of their bodies, basking in the contrast of Gaster’s silk smooth suit and Grillby’s growing heat. His hands continue to work at your curves, every touch sending a searing wave of warmth over your skin, kneading with a gentle intensity that makes you arch into Gaster.
You have just enough presence of mind left to sputter, “D-don’t tear the capelet.”
He growls, low and deep and oh if that rough and wild sound from such a restrained monster doesn’t make the most embarrassing shuddery moan hum in your own throat. “Take it off then,” he suggests with a tug at the belt around your waist.
So off it comes, fluttering down the floor, soon joined by Grillby’s more carefully folded waistcoat. Then you find yourself being pulled back, led by him to an armchair covered in a cloth. The force of him sitting makes a heavy whumph sound thanks to your added weight on his lap.
Gaster had let the two of you slip from his grasp while the extra bits of clothing were being discarded and he watches you now with a face openly full of warm affection. When you grin and beckon at him with a finger, he huffs out a sigh that is probably meant to be taken as annoyed, but just comes off as fond and longing.
“You two are going to get me in trouble,” he grumbles. “There is a party I’m supposed to be at right now just down the hall, or did you forget?”
Grillby, busy at work pressing scorching kisses over your bare shoulders, pauses and lifts his head. “So eager to get back, are you?”
“Not at all. But I’ll be missed if I stay away much longer.”
You sigh heavily, letting your weight lean back against Grillby’s chest. You might just happen to let your hand trail down to your thigh and lightly run your fingers over the fabric there as you pout at Gaster.
He’s broken out into a bit of a sweat.
Sweetly, you plead, “Five more minutes?”
He stares. He sweats. Then his hand smoothly tugs at his tie and it and his coat joins the other outwear on the ground. “Five more minutes.”
It winds up being six minutes and forty-two seconds but well.
Who’s counting?

Fairytale Complex - [Undertale | Sans x Reader]
[Gender Neutral, Frisk's Parent Reader | Slow Burn]
Chapter Three | sans. (Part 3 of 3 | His POV)
[First] | [Previous] | [Next]
As if being blessed by Lady Luck herself, the owner of the establishment calls for Jerry to tend to unloading inventory, forcing him to end his glare on Sans and move his attention elsewhere. His internal conflict manifests itself through physical means, as he stays frozen in place to settle between keeping his job and minding his business with the monster. With another call from his boss, louder and firmer this time in comparison to the friendly reminder from earlier, he clenches his jaw and loosens it up with a scoff. "You're damn lucky the place's packed," he says, looking back towards Sans again. He takes a stray receipt from the counter, takes a pen, and scribbles something on it, handing it over to the monster when he's done. "Take this, and stay the hell away from my family."
"So like you're doing?" Sans counters, snickering.
"Screw off."
The man leaves him be with those last two words and another worker takes his place behind the register, looking fatigued from presumably having to deal with all the work at the back by herself. The expression on her face says it all: she overheard only some parts of the conversation, and was either curious to know more about it or misinterpreting the situation altogether, though she doesn't mention a word about it. Rather, she picks herself up and greets him with a smile. "Good afternoon, sir. For here, or to-go?"
That simple question settles a puzzle in Sans's mind; given he barely knew the human waiting for him at the table, he couldn't make any rash decisions, so he considers all the options through and through. He could make an easy escape from meeting with Jerry again simply by choosing to-go, yet he still wanted to talk with (Y/N) about the subject of Frisk and the Underground. Not only that, but ordering to-go without informing them about it wasn't something normal for how much they knew each other; rather, it would seem rude to decide without giving the human a chance to speak their thoughts on the subject. And if he invited them to eat their orders out elsewhere, it would look wrong; either like he really did mean his vaguely flirty texts, or that he didn't feel comfortable enough with them around.
"Sir?"
"To-go, please," he blurts out, it being the first thing on his mind.
The monster tells her both orders and is then asked to wait. He does so by walking off back to the table, where Frisk's parent still waits at, either completely oblivious of what went on at the register, or masking it based on their calm look and nonchalant sitting position. Their expression takes a turn when they meet with his irises, and they speak up when he's finally close enough for them to make their words hushed. "That was my ex-husband, wasn't it?" they ask, smile strained and brows furrowed. "Could we, uh… take our orders-"
"To-go?" he intervenes, chuckling.
Their smile loses some of its tension, and they let out a laugh. "How did you know?"
He sits with them at the chair across from theirs, nudging himself to an angle where he shields them from the ordering counter. "Between you saying he stopped visiting and that he didn't show up when Frisk went missing, I'd say you're not exactly head over heels for 'im anymore."
"Far from it," they reply, sighing. "It's just plain ridiculous for him to be so worked up about this now. He had his time ages ago." They rock their fingers against the table's surface and frown, looking deep in thought. "What did he say, anyway? ...I tried not to look, but I still saw when he got all angry at you."
"It's related to what I want to talk to you about. Though I'm not sure how he got that info so fast."
Their eyes spark and widen, the hand on the table clenching the edge in expectancy. "So he already knows all about it?"
"Dunno if all, but it looks like he's already dug a lil' bit into my past."
A buzz from the human's phone brings a halt to the conversation. He looks to where the sound comes from before taking a look at their expression, clearly vexed by the name of the sender. Their hand trembles and he notices how they have to tighten their grip on the device to prevent its fall.
"Jerry?" he asks.
They nod. "Excuse me for a moment."
Sans nods back and observes as they stand up from their seat and walk off to a corner of the diner. The switch in the human's expression is almost immediate, changing from curiosity to shock the second they click on the message. The phone meets the floor and ends up making a noise far too loud for it to come out unscathed, results of a tiled floor and the device landing screen-first against it. Still, they don't seem to care over that particular matter and stare at the floor with those same, wide eyes, a look that's carried back to him.
"You…"
Their words come off in a hoarse whisper, and they have to scratch their throat to continue with, "Is this true? Y- You gave Frisk a death threat as a warning for… for what, exactly?" Their voice's louder now, surroundings seeming to blur into nothing given how little they care over being heard by those closer around. "They didn't hurt you, so why did you threaten to hurt them?" Their shocked expression changes to anger, a deep glare that refuses to falter even as they take a step closer, ignoring the phone laying on the floor. "And what did he mean when he said your job was to kill humans? What…. What did Asgore order you to do, and how come you're still allowed to run freely -- as you please? How much of this is true, and how much of this isn't?
They take a pause to pick up their phone, another buzz being heard from it. The screen's cracked from end to end, yet they don't seem to mind over that either and tear up when they read the latest message. "Is… Is that why Toriel had to leave out of the blue? Was she expecting something like this to happen to her, too?" The human's voice breaks, though they recover with another scratch of their throat. "Did she also hurt Frisk? How… How am I supposed to even be anywhere near you when you used to be a heartless man who followed ordered regardless of-"
"Please, ca-"
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down."
They huff, regaining some of their composure through it. "You have the next few minutes to explain why the hell your job as a sentry involved killing people regardless of their actions."
"(L/N), please liste-"
"Tell me."
They cross their arms and keep their glare on him. The phone continues to buzz, but they ignore it, all of their attention now being focused on Sans. An excruciatingly long beat of silence passes before he finally relents with a huff. They sit down, and he sits across from them, gaze facing theirs again. "What specifically do ya wanna know about?"
"What your job as a sentry implied. The rest can wait depending on what terms we're left with after this."
"Alright." He tries to smile in hopes of making their anger soften, though it's a vain attempt; a bad one, more specifically, taking into account how much angrier they get. "But could you promise ya won't freak out?"
"I'm afraid I can't. It all depends, really. Being told you used to throw death threats at innocent people doesn't exactly make me trust you any more than what I did a few seconds ago."
"But-"
"Order 44!"
He lets out a breath and proceeds to stand up. "Talk to you inna second? We can go to the food court and find a place there to eat."
"...Sure," they reply, a smile finally managing to return. "And thanks for helping me back there. I don't think I'd be able to tolerate Jerry coming up to me now of all times."
"Anytime," he says, winking. It's then that he realizes what he's done, an action made purely out of custom, though thankfully, they only show shock at having their thanks accepted rather than shrugged off.
Hopefully, his conversation with them wouldn't turn out as bad as he anticipated it to.
------------------------------
The time to confess over his own sins arrives when both the human and himself are finished eating. Only his drink's left resting on the table, theirs already long gone with how quick they downed it after the meal. Had their choice been alcohol, he would've imagined them tipsy, given they barely gave themselves much time to consume it or so much as enjoy its taste and temperature. (Y/N) begins by asking how much of what Jerry had texted was true and over what actions the skeleton took when meeting with Frisk at the Underground.
The first few questions are simple enough and pass as smooth as his choice of drink, up until they ask, "So what exactly are you guilty of? Frisk told me to be careful around you, but in a fun sort of sense. And… And not because of you being dangerous or ever causing them any harm."
He breathes in, feeling obliged to brace himself for what he's about to say.
"I'm… guilty of not helping them out as much as I should've," Sans says, setting his drink aside. He already feels a tightness in his chest, incrementing when he continues with, "And there was one point where I might've come off too strong… Where I quite frankly told them to watch their back around me, and that I'd be there to handle the situation if it ever got outta hand."
"What kind of situation?" (Y/N) asks, a change in tone already present.
"Hurting my kind." He sighs out a deep breath, letting himself find some sort of ease amongst the ache building up in his rib cage. It was too soon to be enemies with the human sitting across from him, and to be frank, he didn't even want to be on negative terms with them, either. He simply wanted to have another friend; another person he could look forward to spending his time with more often. "I... warned them about what would happen if they dared to do anything bad to other people, but in the least humane wording possible." He takes another sip from his drink, feeling his non-existent throat turn sore. "Frankly, and just like Jerry already told you: it's all true. I, well... I threatened Frisk with death, even though they hadn't harmed anyone during their journey down there."
"So it's all true? Even the part about your job being to basically hunt after humans, no matter what?" They stand up from their seat, hands slamming over the table on par with their shout. In contrast to the ire he anticipated from them, he sees the same shock from before in their eyes and an open mouth reveals their disbelief. "I… Y- You... You're not joking, aren't you?!"
Thankfully, they're both sitting at a table too far away for anyone around to take immediate notice of the human's reaction. That allows the monster to breathe out again and reply with, "It's the raw truth, cross my soul," he says, meeting with their eyes. "As a judge and main sentry for the Underground, I was meant to treat everyone equally, no matter their age, race, or any of that stuff. I judged based on actions; on the person's background and intentions. So when it was time for me to meet with a new person, I went all out, no matter the costs or repercussions of my actions, or the feelings I had about what I was about to do." Sans takes a long pause, needing some time to recollect himself. "To be brief, that was the job assigned to me, and one I was meant to fulfill no matter how that would affect my relationship with that new person I crossed paths with."
"Wh- Why?" they blurt, the anger he expected finally showing through. Still, they sit down, avoiding unwanted attention from other people. "Why did Asgore come up with that idea, a- and why did you go along with it? Why… Was there no other option? Or did neither of you two ever bother searching for one?" A wet gaze greets him when he makes eye contact with the human again, conflicting with their scowl and sharp, furrowed gaze. "Are all of you guys like this? H- How many of you are innocent, and how many of you hurt my child? Are Toriel and MK the only ones I can trust? Because if I'm going to follow along with what Frisk's told me so far, th- the only monsters that they've mentioned without any reluctance have been those two. They... They always freeze up every time I ask them about any other monster they made friends with." Their voice begins to shake and a few tears spill from their eyes. "I… I'm sorry if this seems like too much, b- But I need to know, Sans, I… I need to know who hurt them, and what I can do to protect them. I need to be strict, and I- I need to make up for those two months I wasn't able to be there for them."
Sans.
The human has been calling him 'mister Serif' for a good while now.
Out of all the possible ways and times they could've said his actual, first name, and it had to be during a moment of anger and confusion. He tries not to acknowledge just how bitter and dry his name had come out of their mouth and instead focuses on lending out a hand to them, both in a metaphorical and literal sense. He drags the chair a bit closer to them and hovers his body over the table standing between them, placing a hand on the human's shoulder and snapping them out of their spiral.
"(Y/N), please just... Just breathe, and calm down for a moment," he mutters, making them face his gaze, stern and sober. "This's why I wanna tell you everythin' bit by bit. There's a lot more to the story, and I know you wanna be a good parent for Frisk, so please, take a breath and hear me out. I won't ask you to forgive me, but for your time to listen to what I have to say, instead." He almost flinches when their hand touches the one he'd placed over their shoulder, though he combats that feeling by looking away for a quick moment to recollect his thoughts. "We have a whole history explaining why things worked at the Underground the way they did until recently," he continues. "And even though I know that doesn't mean all of our actions are justified, we still had our reasons, just as your kind -- your ancestors -- did for sealing us underground."
They let go of his hand, a subtle action that tells him it's time to let them go. He does just that and sits back down on his chair, taking another sip from the drink on his side of the table to combat the sour taste forming in his tongue. "I know I have absolutely no right in telling you to calm down anymore and that I shouldn't've even said it the first time. But I still want you to listen, so that you can help Frisk establish their new life with the other monsters at the Surface; with all the friends they made at the Underground, but also by knowing what some of those friends did and just who of us you can entrust their safety to." He offers his hand out to them, letting a smile ease out the grim aftertaste of his words. "So, whaddya say? Wanna hear me out? I promise to be honest with you, so long as you can promise to hear me and my kind out, and learn more 'bout our choices in the past."
"I…"
That's the only word he can hear from them as they stare at his hand, a wary glance being directed at it. "Could we hug it out again? I, well... still don't trust shaking your hand after what Frisk told me about you."
Though he hesitates for a second, he gives in with a grin and a nod. "Sure thing," he replies, chuckling. "C'mere, pal."
Sans stands up, and (Y/N) does the same.
They lean down to his height and let their arms sneak around his back, pulling him in for a second hug in just one day; on his first day meeting the human in person and on his first week here at the Surface, to be more exact. That same gentleness from before reaches his soul, enveloping him with a strong sense of safety, serenity, and warmth, despite the circumstances of it all. It was of no doubt that the person hugging him cared greatly for Frisk's happiness, almost just as much as they did for Frisk's safety. That shows through how willing they were to listen to him, how quickly they regained composure, and how welcoming their hug is, almost as if they were offering him a second chance to hear him out -- and just by the feeling of that hug alone.
"Thanks for being patient with me," he mutters, still kept in the hug. "I promise I'll try to provide you with as much information as I can." He lets go and finally stares at them again. "That sounds good to ya? Or are ya bored of me already?"
Tension eases out as the human lets a laugh burst through. "Sounds good," they reply, smiling. "And don't worry. I… I'm not bored of you yet -- Far from it, actually."

And that's it for this week!
I'm still trying to figure out a good publishing schedule, but updates will continue to be weekly on Saturdays as usual, with the exception of double updates. :-)
